How to build one’s profile in Marketing?
1. Academic performance
One who has above 90% in X, XII and Graduation will be considered to have a
huge spike in academics and will be an outlier from rest of the competition
2. Take up certification courses aligned with Marketing
One can opt to take up certifications which requires no previous knowledge of the
background one is from and even fresher or people with work-ex can opt for these
certifications and download study material for each certification available

Facebook Blueprint Certification

Google Analytics Individual qualification
This particular certification focuses on developing proficiency in
using Google Analytics to measure campaign metrics, monitor
KPIs a

One needs to set up an Academy for Ads accounts and complete

Analytics modules to prepare for the test, in which one needs to

American Marketing Association takes a more formal approach in
comparison to the other marketing certifications on this list.

3. Take up internships and projects in a topic related to Marketing
Different internships and projects can be taken up from sources like Internshala or
LinkedIn in one’s own city easily related to marketing to show the inclination of
one towards it.
4. Take up Position of responsibilities
This is one thing that a fresher should really go after in the next semester.
There are loads of committees and clubs on campus, one need to get into at least
one of them, actively organize things/events as part of the committee/club and
ensure that one a certificate for the same.
5. Take up Social Activities
While both fresher and working professional can take this up, it is easier for the
latter to become an active contributor to the CSR initiatives in one’s organization.
One can also sign up to do volunteering work for an NGO working in the field of
one’s interest — education, health care, environment etc.
One specific thing that fresher can look at is applying to and joining student

6. Take part in different events and cultural fests
Take part in inter-college events based on one’s interest be it — case study contests,
b-plan contests, singing, dancing, acting, and sports whatever one is passionate
about
The idea is that one should come across as someone who does more than just going
to college and coming back
7. Improve the public speaking skills
Join different clubs like Toastmasters or attend open mics or volunteer for
anchoring whenever one gets a chance to improve one’s speaking skills
8. Take one’s interests to the next level
One’s interview can revolve completely around one’s interest and so take whatever
interest one has and explore it seriously. If one likes languages, one should learn
and clear at least a level. If one likes outdoor activities such as trekking or cycling,
join clubs for the same.
9. Blog Writing
Whether writing has been an interest of one’ss or not, one will find that polishing
one’s writing skills will pay off when it comes to MBA admissions. Writing in a
blog will give one’s recruiters credible proof of one’s flair for communication.
To write informed blog posts, one will have to read a lot – this will help one
improve one’s research abilities.
For all these reasons and more, a well-maintained blog is definitely a way to up
one’s B-school profile.
10. Start reading books
Reading keeps one’s mind stimulated and improves one’s speaking and writing
skills.

will probably never fumble for words in an interview or group discussion.
