The Psychoanalytic Criticism Scope Of Hamlet
Hamlet is one the best known works of Willian Shakespeare, a play that emphasizes revenge, as one of
the major topics . The main character hamlet is driven by all of this revenge matter , and ends up
physically killing 2 people, Claudius and Polonius, as well as indirectly causing the deaths of 5 other
characters throughout the play. It is a Play that leaves us with uncertainty and doubts , we can go
either way, we could see hamlet as a protagonist who seeks justice for his father s murder or an
antagonist, because let s be realistic it is a bit extreme all the deaths he cause just to avenge one
person. I chose to look at hamlet through the psychoanalytic criticism scope. I will attempt to
demonstrate how his id, ego, and super ego influenced In his behavior and decision on murdering his
uncle, and the problems he confronted while attempting to accomplish his fathers will to do so.
Hopefully, we can make a decision after being presented hamlet through this new perspective.
First we can analyze hamlet being devastated by his fathers death. It is only fair to understand the pain
he must have felt, and on top of that he is supposed to be the heir to the throne of Denmark. Instead,
his uncle takes it from him by marrying his mother, Gertrude, so quick. By looking through the
psychoanalytic lens, we first look at his id or unconscious, which are our most desired dreams or
hopes that are deep within our mind, also known as the pleasure principle: is the

Athens is surrounded by four large mountains, Mount Aigaleo to the west, Mount parnitha to the
North, Mount Pentelicus to North East and Mount Hymettus to the East. Most of the mountians were
made of limestone and marble, these materials where used in most of the buildings were made out of.
As Athens didn t have a lot of farming land they relied on trade heavily with other city states and
foreign lands. The trades were able to happen as Athens was near the sea. Athens had a marketplace
(agora) that allowed the merchants to sell their goods and others brought them, to make trading easier
Athens like other city states came up with a coin system. These coins were made from gold, silver and
bronze. Athens had a social structure. This social structure is very similar to other cultures as it
consists of upper class, middle class, and lower class. Slaves and women had another system of their
own and weren t considered to be apart of society although they did help keep things moving.Upper
class to be able of the upper class you had to be citizen of Athens, a man and either have a high rank in
the military or have no job. There were very few families that were in the upper class as they had to be
free from the economic burdens. Middle class which was mostly non citizens who couldn t vote or

work. There also was many middle class families that were citizen and could vote. Lower class were
made up of the free men, men that were once slaves or very poor and can not vote or own land. People
in the lower class of society had little rights in the government. Slaves were very common in Athens

Defining the Corporate Veil Its Legal and Ethical Boundaries
Introduction
What is a viable reason for the Courts to pierce the Corporate Veil? The economy improves as
businesses expand and increase in revenue. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) dictates that
corporations go above and beyond in taking responsibility for the effect the corporation on has on the
environment and the social wellbeing. With as many people in production, the lower the employment
rate can be expected and the better the economy.
Through research, we will evaluate and define the Corporate Veil, identify legal and ethical dilemmas
and explain legal and ethical business decisions within the business organization.
What is the Corporate Veil?
A Corporation or LLC allows the individual to become a separate entity from the Corporation. Many
business owners and entrepreneur enter a partnership or corporation to protect their personal assets.
This is especially important when you are in the business to expand the business and market the
product/service. The corporate veil is defined as a situation in which courts put aside limited liability
and hold a corporation s shareholders or directors personally liable for the corporation s actions or
debts (LII, n.d.). There is an invisible shield that the veil separates the corporate entity and provides
protection for the people (directors, shareholders, etc.) also known as the alter ego , and keeps them
covered from personal liability behind the

The law essentially provided for the registration of trade unions, outlining certain requirements about
their rules, trusteeship, accounts, amalgamation, dissolution and the filing of annual financial
statements to a Registrar. The law however, unlike its counterpart British law at the time, did not give
the right to peaceful picketing or the common law disability of action in tort whereby trade unions
could be sued for damages in consequence of strike action was not removed by the Trade Union Law
in Jamaica. Conventional wisdom even at that time is that this omission was not accidental, and the
expressions by the then Governor of Jamaica on that occasion were the Jamaican workers were not
ready for trade unionism, acted as confirmation. (Henry 1982).
Provisions of the Act
The Act provides for the registration of trade unions and identifies enactments which shall not apply to

The Audit Of Financial Statements
Introduction and Motivation
The audit of financial statements is mandatory for publically listed entities throughout the world. The
auditor conducts various tests and based on the results forms an opinion on the truthfulness and
fairness of the financial statements of the company and whether or not they are prepared in accordance
with the financial reporting standards and are free from any material misstatement (Freedman, 2013).
The purpose of auditing is to enhance the confidence of investors and to add credibility to the
truthfulness of company s true financial performance. However, there are some dos and don ts that an
auditor must take care of. For instance, anything that threatens the independence of the auditor must
be avoided as it adversely affects the truthfulness and objectivity of the opinion formed.
History raised questions about Australian rules concerning the independence of auditors and its role in
contributing to the corporate collapse and the collapse of HIH insurance ltd (Ramsay, 2001). It is
believed that if auditors had been objective in formulating their opinion on the statements or
highlighted the risk of going concern of the firms, situation could have been handled better. Possible
reason for auditor being unable to detect future threats here might be lack of independence from the
auditing client.
Independence of the auditor from the client means independence of mind and appearance. The five
major threats to independence of an auditor include

The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay
Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child
parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies
identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was
characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by
strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules
with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and
parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of
parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children
impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on
respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They
lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid
reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no
room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because
they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned.
Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle

The Portrayal of Television Violence in the U.S. Programs and Its Impact on Viewers
Introduction
Over the past one three decades, there have been cases of increased child violence as well as adult
conflicts. Many theories have been developed to explain this growing trend in the society. Media
violence has been one of the factors considered.
There has been continuous research with regards to the relationship that exists between media
violence s and the behavior of the viewers. Some of this research has focused on children and
teenagers. Despite most of them indicating the absence of a strong relationship with real life violence,
there have been proof that it affects other aspects such educational performance and social
relationships.
The contextual features of violence portrayals and their input on viewers are depicted in a number of
ways. These include:
 Justification: the society and the media sponsors seek to justify the violence scenes in programs
with the demand for entertainment. This has been a major point of conflict.
 The consequence of violence: the impact of violence in the media on the society is taken lightly
among many groups. The argument made by some individuals is that its impacts are mostly on young
children, and the effects fade away as they grow.
 Violence portrayal with humor: this has been the trend in presenting media violence. Violence in
movies, video games and general programs has been

African Anthropology Research Paper
This paper is just the latest to come from Professor Henshilwood and others research on African
archaeology that has debunked the idea that modern human behavior originated in Europe after about
40,000 years ago.
There is increasing evidence for an African origin for behavioral and technological modernity more
than 70,000 years ago and that the earliest origin of all Homo sapiens lies in Africa with a special
focus in southern Africa.
Last month MailOnline reported a new study by U.S. researchers which suggested the development of
high tech long range weapons 71,000 years ago in the region gave humans the killing edge to help

How to drill a pilot hole with a cordless screwdriver
What estimate do boring apparatus I require?
The measure of boring apparatus you need will rely upon the extent of the screw you need to embed.
A decent general guideline is to choose a boring tool that is somewhat littler than the width of the
screw s string. Along these lines, the boring apparatus will evacuate enough material to avert part,
however, will leave enough for the screw s strings to nibble into when its determined in.
You can check the sizes by holding the boring tool before the screw, and watch that the screw s shank

Papers On Susan B Anthony
Susan B. Anthony
On February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts, a woman by the name of Susan Brownell Anthony
was born to parents Daniel and Lucy (Read) Anthony. She was the second born of a strongly rooted
Quaker family of eight (Hist.Bio. 1). Because they lived in a Quaker neighborhood, Susan was not
heavily exposed to slavery. The family made anti slavery talks an almost daily conversation over the
dinner table. She also saw men and women on the same level (Stoddard 36). A hard working father,
who was not only a cotton manufacturer, but a Quaker Abolitionist also, prevented his children from
what he called childish things such as toys, games and music. He felt that they would distract his

Together they published The Revolution , a New York liberal weekly magazine. This magazine would
soon parish and put Susan B. Anthony in debt of 10,000 dollars (Boynick)!
According to author, Hope Stoddard, Susan B. Anthony was a firm, upright person. She wasn t afraid
to show it to anyone and everyone who wanted to know how she felt. One day, during a marriage
custody conference, an abolitionist by the name of Rev. A. D. Mayo asked Anthony, in modified
words, by what means could she take part in discussions on marriage when she was not married
herself. She responded to this by saying, in revised words, that he was not a slave, so maybe he should
not be taking part in discussions on slavery. It was this kind of determination that led Susan B.
Anthony towards gaining women the right to have equal guardianship of their children (Dorr 55).
In a period of about twenty years, Anthony supported the United States over the
Confederate States of America before and during the civil war. Her reason for taking a side during the
war was not only to see the slaves be free. Anthony wanted to see all men equal. She had a plan (Hist.
Works).
A couple years after the Civil War had ended, African American men were given the right to vote and
the right to attempt to live the American dream. With this information, Anthony took off. She felt that
women should be granted at least the same

Learning New Concepts And Points Of View
For my flexibility, it says that I take a highly flexible approach to life and are likely very open to new
and changing ideas and circumstances. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I
have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going
on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too,
because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different.
Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing
points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new
ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I
was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would
work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she
could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work
best for both of us.
My social responsibility is very accurate. It states that I have a strong concern and compassion for
society and act act as a champion for making a difference. The other one says that I likely gain deeper
connection to the welfare of others and as a result, gain a broad perspective of others struggles. I have
always felt that I have had a strong

Girl With Prayer Summary
Explication of poem: Girl With Prayer
The poem Girl With Prayer by Ruben Quesada illustrates a person that is in deep grief or perhaps
traumatized by the accident which the speaker has witnessed when the narrator was a kid. As well, the
speaker has vivid memories from the accident that currently is distressing the speaker. For instance,
the speaker says; the same dream comes (2), which indicates the speaker or narrator is going through a
hard time, perhaps when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming, the scenario of accident takes place as
a memory and nightmare, which is affecting the speaker mentally and psychologically. As result, the
narrator feels exhausted. Thus, the person narrating the poem feels trapped by girl s accident which
disturbs the personal life of the narrator and recalling the accident appears to lead the speaker to feel
exhausted.
The author does provide a title to his poem; Girl With Prayer which involves religion and the girl is
associated with it. After a runaway car has hit the girl, the girl s body is physically damaged; Her face
bruised/arms blasted to bone (12 13). Therefore, the girl s body injured seems to trigger the speaker to
fall on exhaustion (1). Besides, the speaker happens to be at the scene where the accident took place
since the speaker s mother carried the girl, lay or put down the girl on the edge of the sidewalk. The
narrator states then my mother helps her off the street/to the curb (13 14), where the girl finally passes
away. The narrator lets the reader know the girl dies when; ...again, everything is silent (14) the
silence implies something much worse has happened after the girl has been put aside. Afterwards, the
narrator states slowly the Lord s Prayer ruptures her split lips (15), suggesting that the mother prayed
for the deceased girl on the sidewalk. However, the focus is on the child that now seems to be a young
adult that it is having personal issues. As when the speaker mentions, when I fall...from exhaustion
(1), and the same dream comes (2), illustrates the speaker is going through tough time and having
flashbacks from the girl s accident, when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming. The accident has
become a nightmare because the speaker

The Haitian Revolution
To say that all men are born and created equally is an understatement to say the least. Speaking
morally, yes. But in reality, no. Especially if you are someone of African descent lost in the diaspora.
Case in point, the Haitian Revolution. Holding someone against their will and forcing them into
slavery is wrong. To force an unfair and unjustified debt upon a people for fighting for their freedom
and winning is double wrong and equally as bad as slavery. It goes as a slap in the face to those who

The petit blancs often had slaves but not that many as the planters. Both groups were committed to

Apple Company has created a strong brand name which represents quality and classy products. The

Besides that, Apple also stayed two years ahead of its competitors. They designed and worked on

Glycogen is a multi branched polysaccharide and is utilized as energy storage. Glycogen is a polymer
of α glucose and is often referred to as animal starch as it is the principal storage carbohydrate in
animals. Glycogen is found in the liver and skeletal muscle. Its molecular structure is very similar to
that of amylopectin shown herewith, but with many more 1 6 α branches. Most of the glucose residues
in glycogen are linked by α 1,4 glycosidic bonds. With most branches, approximately every tenth
residue is created by α 1,6 glycosidic bond. The molecular formula for Glycogen is C24H42O21.

of the end of course assessment divulges thirteen out of sixty questions on the test are based on the

Vulnerability Assessment ( Va )
1. Introduction
Security is a standout amongst the most difficult and complex issue in Information Technology (IT)
today. Security causes millions of dollars loss to the different organizations every year. Even if 99% of
all assaults result from known vulnerabilities and flawed misconfigurations, an answer is most
certainly not direct. With a crowd of networks, operating system and application related
vulnerabilities, security specialists are getting the opportunity to be logically aware of the need to
review and direct potential security dangers on their network and systems. This requires a more
effective and insightful way to deal with sustaining the project. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) is the
procedure of identifying, quantifying, measuring and organizing dangers connected with system and
host based network to reduce its risk to the system. Vulnerability Assessment (VA) tools permit
customization of security strategy, computerized examination of vulnerabilities, and formation of
reports that helps to discover security vulnerability.
Network around the world is connected through various hardware and application. Different types of
connections are used to connect network around the world. Many organizations and companies are
using different types of network connected to the internet to flourish their business related activities.
Network is mainly categorized into three forms: LAN, MAN and WAN. All these network are
connected together to make an entire huge network around

Essay on Unraveling the Issues of Compensated Organ Donations
Introduction
Compensated organ donations one of the most controversial issues we have today. The scarcity of
organ donations in America is the main reason there is a sudden diversion of possible source of
organs. Beginning with donations of organs from cadaver to living donors, different strategies sprung
just to reduce the said shortage; as a result of this quest, sale and paid organs is one of the approaches
that gathered too much attention from the public. The controversy of paid organ donations entered the
limelight when the state of Wisconsin offered incentives to the living donors. This law, which was
created in the year 2004, grants tax deduction and repayment of donation expenses such as travel cost
and lost earnings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, it also violates human dignity because it treats the organs and human body parts as
commodities. Not to mention the fact that such action weakens and demoted altruism. However, the
real picture of compensated organ donations is actually the opposite of unethical and self interest ; it
promotes life and therefore regarded as a good and moral deed. Organ Donation s Supply and Demand
Knowing the rate of supply and demand of organ donation helps in establishing a clear background
about the issue. For instance, Monti (2009) explained the reality of supply and demand of kidneys.
The supply of this organ coming from deceased and altruistic donors are not enough to support the
demand of those individuals who are in need. Approximately there are 73,000 people who wait for
kidney donations and 18 of those who are in the wait list will die by tomorrow. Accordingly, the list is
being added by 6,000 individuals every year. An individual has to wait for five years before he/she can
get an organ donation. The facts and figures presented by Monti shows that there is a big gap between
the supply and demand of organ donations . The Center for Bioethics (2004) gave supplementary
details on the issue of organ shortage. In their article ethics of organ transplantation they said that
United Network for Organ Sharing or UNOS keeps a comprehensive figure on the present status of
people who need organ transplants and presently there more than

Essay on Lysistrata
Lysistrata is a play written in 411 BC by Aristophanes. At that time in Greek history, the city states
were constantly warring with one another. Consequently, the women were left at home. One woman,
Lysistrata, was so fed up with the fighting that she called all of the women of Greece to a meeting.
When they finally showed up, Lysistrata presented her plan for peace: no sex until the wars ceased.
She eventually convinced all of the other women that this was the only way to bring peace to the land.
The men were miserable and ultimately they negotiated a treaty to stop the hostilities. This play has its
merits and its downfalls. As a whole, however, it is well written, humorous, and most importantly, it
has a purpose. On first glance, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the opening of the play, Lysistrata has called a meeting of all the women and is impatiently waiting
for them. She says that she has spent long, sleepless nights agonizing over the solution to the wars.
She tells Kalonike, quot;Only we women can save Greece! quot; As the rest of the women arrive, she
informs them of her plan. The women are resistant to the idea of no sex at first. They then realize that
what Lysistrata says is true.
The women take an oath and swear to one another that they will have nothing to do with their
husbands until the wars cease. Aristophanes use of women as the peacemakers shows the natural role
of women as nurturers. He is displaying how life should be, without war. In times of peace, men are
working at home alongside their wives. When war comes about, women are left to do all the work,
domestic and otherwise.
This upsets the balance of daily life. Aristophanes is urging his fellow Greeks to restore peace and
therefore life as they once knew it. As the play progresses, the men are in extreme pain and agony
from the withholding of sexual activities. They come to the conclusion, grudgingly, that the women
are indeed correct. To renew Greece, the fighting must end. And they are the ones with whom it has to
begin.
The men arrange a treaty and then celebrate with the others, Athenian and Spartan alike. But, as I can
imagine, all, women and men, are anxious to get home. With this play,

According to Cornel West and Henry Louis Gates in their book entitled, The African American
Century: How Black Americans Have Shaped Our Lives, in her lifetime she wrote a total of seven
poetry editions, two five autobiographies, four children s books, a screenplay, and two essay
collections (West and Gates 276). Her most acclaimed publication was her introspective novel, I
Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, which was based on her childhood, growing up in a then
segregated Missouri (West and Gates 276). Margalit Fox wrote in an article for the New York Times,
this book was the first time anyone paid attention to a black woman s autobiography (Fox). The
narrative awakened a culture of female self revelation in 1970 (West and Gates 279). Because Angelou

they have stood the test of time (Fox). She was also gifted in theatre and film. She acted on Broadway
and was nominated for a Tony Award, and she performed on television in the mini series Roots in

The Houses of Parliament, Cas Vromans
The Palace of Westminster is the meeting spot of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the
two homes of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. Generally known as the Houses of Parliament
after its inhabitants, it is otherwise called the heart of British legislative issues . The Palace lies on the
north bank of the River Thames in the City of Westminster, in focal London.
The principal illustrious castle was based on the site in the eleventh century, and Westminster was the
main living place of the Kings of England until flame decimated a great part of the complex in 1512.
After that, it served as the home of the Parliament of England, which had been meeting there since the
thirteenth century, furthermore as the seat of the Royal Courts of Justice, situated in and around
Westminster Hall. In 1834, a considerably more noteworthy fire desolated the vigorously remade
Houses of Parliament, and the main huge medieval structures to survive were Westminster Hall, the
Cloisters of St Stephen s, the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, and the Jewel Tower.
Its name, which gets from the neighboring Westminster Abbey, may allude to both of two structures:

action against you based on the incident cited in this documentation as well as any further incidents.
On 03/21/2011, Officer Sporty wrote a rebuttal, stating that he and his wife were out riding their
motorcycle when they encountered the Hell s Angles Motorcycle Club. He stated he did not
participate in the event, was not dressed in motorcycle gear, did not associate with Hell s Angles
Motorcycle Club members, and did not identify himself as an SLU officer during encounters with the
club.
On 04/21/2011, Officer Sporty was again observed at bar where the Hell s Angels Motorcycle Club
was present. Officer Sporty denied the allegations again stating he was not part of the Motorcycle
Club. Officer Sporty received a Letter of Discipline and the chain of command has recommended

Public Transport Systems Of The Uk
Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most
prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as
their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. In the future we will probably see more alternatives such
as driver less cars, notably one being developed by google, and some even speculate as to more
science fiction like modes of transportation e.g. According to Shaw, in the future everyone will use
telekinetically controlled hover boards [1]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are
too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future.
One of the most compelling arguments against needing to know how to drive is the driver less car
which have had reasonable success under the development of Google, which by 2012 completed more
than 300,000 miles of testing. [...] and there hasn t been a single accident under computer control. [2].
This was achieved about 2 years after the project was first publicly announced and aimed to
fundamentally change the use of cars [3]. The concept itself has a lot of merit as it would give those
previously unable to drive, such as those who are blind or otherwise disabled, means to more
independently get around. A good example of how a driver less car would be was seen in the film
adaptation of Isaac Asimov s I, Robot, in which all cars where computer driven but also gave the

Substitution Reactions ( Sn2 And Sn )
Using various alcohols, the substitution reactions (Sn2 and Sn) were utilized by helping with which
functional groups reacted, in which way. Developing a mechanism for the alcohols are discussed.
This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing compounds. When
a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (σ) bond with another sigma (σ) bond. In
substitution reactions, there are two types that are focused when working with organic molecules, Sn1
and Sn2.
A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is in the rate
determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one substitution that occurs before the
final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2 reaction
has two molecules that are in the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur before the
final product is created (reactions occur simultaneously).
The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are common in Sn1 and
Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and the solvents are both Sn1 and Sn2
reactions.
While working with reaction 1 there are several different chemical properties to be aware of, 3 Phenyl
1 propanol has a melting point of 18°C. It also has a boiling point of 119°C. The density of the alcohol

Boston Tea Party During The American Revolution
Boston tea party During the American Revolution
The Boston Tea Party refers to the political protest initiated by the Sons of Liberty on 16th December,
1773 in Boston (Savelle Labaree, 1966). The protestors, disguised often as American Indians, dumped
the entire tea shipment into the Boston Harbor sent by East India Company into the water. This protest
was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. In
reaction to this event, the British government showed a harsh response and this escalated the
American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party has become an iconic episode of the American history,
and some other political and governmental protests for instance the Tea Party movements after 2010
overtly refer to the event.
Throughout out the British America, Colonists protested against the Tea Act, and the reason for their
objection was grounded on the belief that such act violated the rights of Englishmen as they believed
on No taxation without representation, which meant that they could only be taxed by their own
nominated representatives rather than the British parliament (Carp, 2012). Protesters had effectively
prevented the taxed tea unloading in other three colonies. However in Boston, Thomas Hutchinson the
royal governor refused the return of tea shipment to the Britain.
The Boston Tea Party has significant impact on the history of American Revolution. In 1774,
Parliament responded with the Intolerable Acts or Coercive Acts,

The Magnocellular pathway carries information from the M ganglion cells at rapid speed along the
dorsal stream to the parietal lobe to help us understand motion, spatial relationships and contrast. The
Parvocellular pathway carries information from the P ganglion cells at slower speed along the ventral
stream to the temporal lobe to help us process fine details of such as color and form of an object. It is
thought that the Parvocellular pathway is our primary source for recognition and identification, but
there are speculations that its allocentric frame of reference can also be used in a more egocentric
approach (i.e., the Parvocellular pathway is able to elicit an autonomic response like the
Magnocellular pathway). This research expands on these theories by studying the role of color vision
in autonomic attention responses. The experiment attempts to study the relationship between the

The Environmental Consequences And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate change is a serious environmental issue which influences changes in temperature, humidity,
air quality, precipitation, and land surface wetness across the globe (Institute of Medicine [IOM],
2011). Small changes in these factors can snowball into larger and potentially disastrous outcomes in
climate and weather. For example, the 1.5°F increase in the average global temperature during the past
century has been accompanied by serious environmental consequences such as an increase in floods,
droughts, heavy rainfall, and more frequent and intense heat waves (Environmental Protection Agency
[EPA], n.d.). Over the next century, the increase in the Earth s average temperature is predicted to rise
by another 0.5 to 8.6°F (EPA, n.d.). The risk for additional severe changes to the Earth s system is
projected to increase, as well as the potential harm to the health of the global population (World
Health Organization [WHO], 2009). One way through which this is expected to occur is through
climate change affecting the indoor environment by creating favorable conditions for the growth of
mold, ultimately harming inhabitants respiratory health (IOM, 2011). According to a report by the
Institute of Medicine s Committee on the Effect of Climate Change on Indoor Air Quality and Public
Health, climate change induced alterations to the outdoor environment are likely to affect the indoor
environment, and as a result, the health of its inhabitants (2011). Climate change has increased the
frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall and hurricane events, leading to more breakdown of
buildings, leaks and infiltration of water into the indoor environment, and flooding (IOM, 2011). The
issue of indoor dampness and flooding lies in the creation of favorable conditions for the growth of
mold. Moisture level has been shown to be the primary factor responsible for indoor mold growth
(IOM, 2011). Exposure to mold is associated with various respiratory symptoms, such as coughing,
wheezing, asthma exacerbation, and shortness of breath in vulnerable individuals (IOM, 2011). This
combination of climate change and the subsequent increase in mold growth and exposure raises
concerns for health, particularly the health of those with existing

Task Force For Gifted And Talented Education
Today s society is governed by one simple mantra: we all have our gifts. While this is a relatively
vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is
the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted
and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth
who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or
leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily
provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). At

A paper presented in 2005 at the Australian Association for Research in Education reports that ...gifted
students and high achievers will experience an enhanced school self concept due to the BFLP (big

will be lowered due to an assimilation effect when they affiliate themselves with their less able peers

out of regular classes and grouping them together. In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated
sense of self worth, and yet as soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel
less adequate and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s
frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life
(Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as gifted ability fades, resulting in
feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded phenomenon of burnout (Kesner

Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Seven Habits Essay
Sean Covey s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is intended as a guide to help teens improve
themselves and become successful in life. Its primary focuses are how to take control of your life, set
and achieve goals, build friendships, maintain quality relationships, withstand peer pressure, and
improve self image. It consists of seven habits Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First
Things First, Think Win Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and
Sharpen the saw. These habits are each designed to help you lead your best life. From this book, I have
learned to take care of and love myself, maintain healthy relationships with others, work towards my
goals, and resist anything that could potentially harm me or prevent me from doing these things.
The first habit portrayed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is Be Proactive. Being proactive
means taking responsibility of your life and thinking before you act. As the book states, Proactive
people are aware that they can t control everything that happens to them, but they can control what
they do about it. The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the book is trying to
steer you away from. Reactive people act on feelings and don t take the time to assess the situation.
This habit has taught me that how you react to situations determines the outcome. Even if the situation
is negative, if you are proactive and have a good, responsible

The Importance Of Traveling
You worked really hard to get your miles and points in the bank. Don t let that potential vacation
currency go to waste. Here are some helpful tips to keep your miles from expiring.
Below the useful tips is a table with the major airline and hotel expiration deadlines.
Know The Expiration Dates
Each frequent flyer program has slightly different rules for when their miles expire. For some
international airlines, it can be up to 3 years. For most programs in the US, accounts expire after 18
months of inactivity.
This means that if you let your miles account sit for 18 months, and neither earn nor redeem a mile,
you will lose them all. And this seems to take people by surprise pretty frequently. Points Banking

But it makes sense to link your cards to a dining program, like Rewards Network. It s always a nice
surprise to get an email that you ve earned miles after eating at a random cafe in a town you ve never
been to before. This free option is worth signing up for.
Move points around
For the most part, you can t transfer points between airlines. You can also transfer points from Bank
Rewards credit cards to airlines.
If you have credit card points through American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate
Rewards, or Citi ThankYou cards, you can transfer those points to selected airline partners. Members
of the Starwood Preferred Guest program can transfer points to over a dozen different airlines. That s
the benefit of a flexible and transferable points programs.
In most cases you ll need to transfer a minimum of 1,000 points. Although Starwood Preferred Guests
Platinum members can transfer as little as one point to an airline program.
Some airlines also allow you to donate a handful of miles to charity, which can be a good option in a
pinch. You can also move miles between one person s account to another.
Keep in mind, some airlines charge a transfer fee this. Not the best option.
Buy Miles
When I was in a pinch a few years ago, I bought a 1,000 miles to keep the loyalty account active. This
was in my novice days when I was still learning. Although spending $15 to reset the clock seemed like
a good idea at the time, there are other

Zombie Apocalypse Disasters
There are all kinds of emergencies that we can prepare for; a zombie apocalypse is one of them.
Zombies may be fictional, but natural disasters are a very real concern in which we would take the

During a disaster such as a zombie apocalypse, shelter is a vital part in surviving. With zombies
running rampant across the city, we must have a safe and secure shelter for all citizens to hide out until
the apocalypse is over. With that being said, what kind of building should we provide, and where
should these types of shelters be placed? These buildings will be placed underground, so that the

The Fight For Contraceptives By Margaret Sanger
Margaret Sanger, a New York and an active feminist, led the fight for contraceptives, which are
methods or devices to prevent pregnancy. Sanger, whose mother at a young age because she had
birthed eleven children, helped shape her into a very individualistic and assertive woman. She was a
part of the Socialist party, while studying to be a nurse, and starting a family of her own. In 1912, she
began to work in the slums with the poor immigrant women who lived there. Her experience in the
slums with these women, helped shaped her strong opinion on why women should be in control of
childbearing. This was not the only thing that shaped it, but helped further her outlook after she was a
witness to her own mother s death. Her final call to action though was the ghastly stories of self
induced abortions and the tales of more than horrific pregnancies.
Sanger s movement to push for birth control caused her to be closely watched by the law enforcement.
She repeatedly sent informative brochures about contraceptives out to the public and opened a birth
control clinic in Brooklyn; it impudently went against Comstock Act and several other laws. In 1920
Sangers methods became less extensive and that same year she founded the American Birth Control
League, now known as Planned Parenthood. This was one of the biggest milestones in her career as a
feminist. In 1925 she gave her memorable speech The Children s Era at the first birth control
conference. When she delivered the speech she

The main character hamlet is driven by all of this revenge matter , and ends up physically killing 2 people, Claudius and Polonius, as well as indirectly causing the deaths of 5 other characters throughout the play. It is a Play that leaves us with uncertainty and doubts , we can go either way, we could see hamlet as a protagonist who seeks justice for his father s murder or an antagonist, because let s be realistic it is a bit extreme all the deaths he cause just to avenge one person. I chose to look at hamlet through the psychoanalytic criticism scope. I will attempt to demonstrate how his id, ego, and super ego influenced In his behavior and decision on murdering his uncle, and the problems he confronted while attempting to accomplish his fathers will to do so. • 6. The Audit Of Financial Statements Introduction and Motivation The audit of financial statements is mandatory for publically listed entities throughout the world. The auditor conducts various tests and based on the results forms an opinion on the truthfulness and fairness of the financial statements of the company and whether or not they are prepared in accordance with the financial reporting standards and are free from any material misstatement (Freedman, 2013). The purpose of auditing is to enhance the confidence of investors and to add credibility to the truthfulness of company s true financial performance. However, there are some dos and don ts that an auditor must take care of. For instance, anything that threatens the independence of the auditor must be avoided as it adversely affects the truthfulness and objectivity of the opinion formed. History raised questions about Australian rules concerning the independence of auditors and its role in contributing to the corporate collapse and the collapse of HIH insurance ltd (Ramsay, 2001). It is believed that if auditors had been objective in formulating their opinion on the statements or highlighted the risk of going concern of the firms, situation could have been handled better. Possible reason for auditor being unable to detect future threats here might be lack of independence from the auditing client. Independence of the auditor from the client means independence of mind and appearance. The five major threats to independence of an auditor include ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned. Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many theories have been developed to explain this growing trend in the society. Media violence has been one of the factors considered. There has been continuous research with regards to the relationship that exists between media violence s and the behavior of the viewers. Some of this research has focused on children and teenagers. Despite most of them indicating the absence of a strong relationship with real life violence, there have been proof that it affects other aspects such educational performance and social relationships. The contextual features of violence portrayals and their input on viewers are depicted in a number of ways. These include:  Justification: the society and the media sponsors seek to justify the violence scenes in programs with the demand for entertainment. This has been a major point of conflict.  The consequence of violence: the impact of violence in the media on the society is taken lightly among many groups. The argument made by some individuals is that its impacts are mostly on young children, and the effects fade away as they grow.  Violence portrayal with humor: this has been the trend in presenting media violence. I agree with this point a lot, because throughout my life so far I have had to change things that I have done last minute to accomplish something else that was going on. Also, it says that I tend to embrace change in school, work and life in general. I agree with this too, because during school I always got excited when I got a new class because it was something different. Lastly, it says that flexibility allows me to be open to learning new concepts and exploring differing points of view. This one is a little harder for me to completely agree to, because yes I am open to new ideas but not all the time when exploring new concepts and points of view. One example is when I was suppose to tutor a girl in my high school and she was having problems finding a time that would work for both of us. I came up with a time during school that we could meet and I told her that she could come up with any day Monday through Friday at the time that we had determined would work best for both of us. • 14. Girl With Prayer Summary Explication of poem: Girl With Prayer The poem Girl With Prayer by Ruben Quesada illustrates a person that is in deep grief or perhaps traumatized by the accident which the speaker has witnessed when the narrator was a kid. As well, the speaker has vivid memories from the accident that currently is distressing the speaker. For instance, the speaker says; the same dream comes (2), which indicates the speaker or narrator is going through a hard time, perhaps when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming, the scenario of accident takes place as a memory and nightmare, which is affecting the speaker mentally and psychologically. As result, the narrator feels exhausted. Thus, the person narrating the poem feels trapped by girl s accident which disturbs the personal life of the narrator and recalling the accident appears to lead the speaker to feel exhausted. The author does provide a title to his poem; Girl With Prayer which involves religion and the girl is associated with it. After a runaway car has hit the girl, the girl s body is physically damaged; Her face bruised/arms blasted to bone (12 13). Therefore, the girl s body injured seems to trigger the speaker to fall on exhaustion (1). Besides, the speaker happens to be at the scene where the accident took place since the speaker s mother carried the girl, lay or put down the girl on the edge of the sidewalk. The narrator states then my mother helps her off the street/to the curb (13 14), where the girl finally passes away. The narrator lets the reader know the girl dies when; ...again, everything is silent (14) the silence implies something much worse has happened after the girl has been put aside. Afterwards, the narrator states slowly the Lord s Prayer ruptures her split lips (15), suggesting that the mother prayed for the deceased girl on the sidewalk. However, the focus is on the child that now seems to be a young adult that it is having personal issues. As when the speaker mentions, when I fall...from exhaustion (1), and the same dream comes (2), illustrates the speaker is going through tough time and having flashbacks from the girl s accident, when the speaker is sleeping and dreaming. Organ Donation s Supply and Demand Knowing the rate of supply and demand of organ donation helps in establishing a clear background about the issue. For instance, Monti (2009) explained the reality of supply and demand of kidneys. The supply of this organ coming from deceased and altruistic donors are not enough to support the demand of those individuals who are in need. Approximately there are 73,000 people who wait for kidney donations and 18 of those who are in the wait list will die by tomorrow. Accordingly, the list is being added by 6,000 individuals every year. An individual has to wait for five years before he/she can get an organ donation. • 28. Public Transport Systems Of The Uk Currently there are already a few alternatives to cars available to a large amount of people, the most prevalent of these being public transport systems which count towards about 16% of commuters as their usual method of transport in the UK[6]. In the future we will probably see more alternatives such as driver less cars, notably one being developed by google, and some even speculate as to more science fiction like modes of transportation e.g. According to Shaw, in the future everyone will use telekinetically controlled hover boards [1]. The question is somewhat speculative at best as there are too many factors currently involved as to the requirement of cars both now and in the future. One of the most compelling arguments against needing to know how to drive is the driver less car which have had reasonable success under the development of Google, which by 2012 completed more than 300,000 miles of testing. [...] and there hasn t been a single accident under computer control. [2]. This was achieved about 2 years after the project was first publicly announced and aimed to fundamentally change the use of cars [3]. The concept itself has a lot of merit as it would give those previously unable to drive, such as those who are blind or otherwise disabled, means to more independently get around. A good example of how a driver less car would be was seen in the film adaptation of Isaac Asimov s I, Robot, in which all cars where computer driven but also gave the driver an option ... • 31. Substitution Reactions ( Sn2 And Sn ) Using various alcohols, the substitution reactions (Sn2 and Sn) were utilized by helping with which functional groups reacted, in which way. Developing a mechanism for the alcohols are discussed. This journal inspects the substitution reactions occurring in the alcohol containing compounds. When a substitution reaction transpires, it substitutes one sigma (σ) bond with another sigma (σ) bond. In substitution reactions, there are two types that are focused when working with organic molecules, Sn1 and Sn2. A Sn1 reaction is a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which has one molecule that is in the rate determining step of the reaction. This simply means there is one substitution that occurs before the final product is created. A Sn2 reaction is, also, a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The Sn2 reaction has two molecules that are in the rate determining step; therefore, two substitutions occur before the final product is created (reactions occur simultaneously). The three different types of alcohols that were utilized during this experiment are common in Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. The reaction that occurs between the alcohol and the solvents are both Sn1 and Sn2 reactions. While working with reaction 1 there are several different chemical properties to be aware of, 3 Phenyl 1 propanol has a melting point of 18°C. It also has a boiling point of 119°C. The density of the alcohol us 1.001 g/mL. In reaction 2, the boiling point of 2 pentanol is 119°C. The melting point of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Boston Tea Party During The American Revolution Boston tea party During the American Revolution The Boston Tea Party refers to the political protest initiated by the Sons of Liberty on 16th December, 1773 in Boston (Savelle Labaree, 1966). The protestors, disguised often as American Indians, dumped the entire tea shipment into the Boston Harbor sent by East India Company into the water. This protest was in reaction and showing the noncooperation towards the Tea Act enacted on 10th May, 1773. In reaction to this event, the British government showed a harsh response and this escalated the American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party has become an iconic episode of the American history, and some other political and governmental protests for instance the Tea Party movements after 2010 overtly refer to the event. Throughout out the British America, Colonists protested against the Tea Act, and the reason for their objection was grounded on the belief that such act violated the rights of Englishmen as they believed on No taxation without representation, which meant that they could only be taxed by their own nominated representatives rather than the British parliament (Carp, 2012). Protesters had effectively prevented the taxed tea unloading in other three colonies. However in Boston, Thomas Hutchinson the royal governor refused the return of tea shipment to the Britain. The Boston Tea Party has significant impact on the history of American Revolution. In 1774, Parliament responded with the Intolerable Acts or Coercive Acts, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Magnocellular pathway carries information from the M ganglion cells at rapid speed along the dorsal stream to the parietal lobe to help us understand motion, spatial relationships and contrast. The Parvocellular pathway carries information from the P ganglion cells at slower speed along the ventral stream to the temporal lobe to help us process fine details of such as color and form of an object. It is thought that the Parvocellular pathway is our primary source for recognition and identification, but there are speculations that its allocentric frame of reference can also be used in a more egocentric approach (i.e., the Parvocellular pathway is able to elicit an autonomic response like the Magnocellular pathway). This research expands on these theories by studying the role of color vision in autonomic attention responses. The experiment attempts to study the relationship between the Magnocellular pathway and Parvocellular pathway through color cues and its effects in capturing attention and control visual behavior (e.g., moving the eyes to locate the ... • 34. The Environmental Consequences And Effects Of Climate Change Climate change is a serious environmental issue which influences changes in temperature, humidity, air quality, precipitation, and land surface wetness across the globe (Institute of Medicine [IOM], 2011). Small changes in these factors can snowball into larger and potentially disastrous outcomes in climate and weather. For example, the 1.5°F increase in the average global temperature during the past century has been accompanied by serious environmental consequences such as an increase in floods, droughts, heavy rainfall, and more frequent and intense heat waves (Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], n.d.). Over the next century, the increase in the Earth s average temperature is predicted to rise by another 0.5 to 8.6°F (EPA, n.d.). The risk for additional severe changes to the Earth s system is projected to increase, as well as the potential harm to the health of the global population (World Health Organization [WHO], 2009). One way through which this is expected to occur is through climate change affecting the indoor environment by creating favorable conditions for the growth of mold, ultimately harming inhabitants respiratory health (IOM, 2011). According to a report by the Institute of Medicine s Committee on the Effect of Climate Change on Indoor Air Quality and Public Health, climate change induced alterations to the outdoor environment are likely to affect the indoor environment, and as a result, the health of its inhabitants (2011). Climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of heavy rainfall and hurricane events, leading to more breakdown of buildings, leaks and infiltration of water into the indoor environment, and flooding (IOM, 2011). The issue of indoor dampness and flooding lies in the creation of favorable conditions for the growth of mold. Moisture level has been shown to be the primary factor responsible for indoor mold growth (IOM, 2011). Exposure to mold is associated with various respiratory symptoms, such as coughing, wheezing, asthma exacerbation, and shortness of breath in vulnerable individuals (IOM, 2011). This combination of climate change and the subsequent increase in mold growth and exposure raises concerns for health, particularly the health of those with existing ... While this is a relatively vague saying, there is one concrete definition of giftedness that is seemingly undeniable, and that is the intellectual giftedness of young children. As elucidated by the Federal Government, the term gifted and talented, when used with respect to students, children, or youth, means students, children, or youth who give evidence of high achievement capability in such areas as intellectual, creative, artistic, or leadership capacity, or in specific academic fields, and who need services or activities not ordinarily provided by the school in order to fully develop those capabilities (Title IX, Part A, Definition 22). This finding is particularly interesting because it calls the efficacy of pulling gifted children out of regular classes and grouping them together. In regular classes, the gifted student has an inflated sense of self worth, and yet as soon as he is put into a room with like minded people, he begins to feel less adequate and may fall back to an ordinary learning ability. This then results in the student s frustration with his inability to grasp new material, and with the routine, repetitive nature of daily life (Farmer). These feelings can persist throughout a lifetime, even as gifted ability fades, resulting in feelings of depression, displacement, and the dreaded phenomenon of burnout (Kesner ... Examples Of 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens Seven Habits Essay Sean Covey s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is intended as a guide to help teens improve themselves and become successful in life. Its primary focuses are how to take control of your life, set and achieve goals, build friendships, maintain quality relationships, withstand peer pressure, and improve self image. It consists of seven habits Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win Win, Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood, Synergize, and Sharpen the saw. These habits are each designed to help you lead your best life. From this book, I have learned to take care of and love myself, maintain healthy relationships with others, work towards my goals, and resist anything that could potentially harm me or prevent me from doing these things. The first habit portrayed in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is Be Proactive. Being proactive means taking responsibility of your life and thinking before you act. As the book states, Proactive people are aware that they can t control everything that happens to them, but they can control what they do about it. The opposite of being proactive is being reactive, which is what the book is trying to steer you away from. Reactive people act on feelings and don t take the time to assess the situation. This habit has taught me that how you react to situations determines the outcome. Even if the situation is negative, if you are proactive and have a good, responsible ... • 41. The Fight For Contraceptives By Margaret Sanger Margaret Sanger, a New York and an active feminist, led the fight for contraceptives, which are methods or devices to prevent pregnancy. Sanger, whose mother at a young age because she had birthed eleven children, helped shape her into a very individualistic and assertive woman. She was a part of the Socialist party, while studying to be a nurse, and starting a family of her own. In 1912, she began to work in the slums with the poor immigrant women who lived there. Her experience in the slums with these women, helped shaped her strong opinion on why women should be in control of childbearing. This was not the only thing that shaped it, but helped further her outlook after she was a witness to her own mother s death. Her final call to action though was the ghastly stories of self induced abortions and the tales of more than horrific pregnancies. Sanger s movement to push for birth control caused her to be closely watched by the law enforcement. She repeatedly sent informative brochures about contraceptives out to the public and opened a birth control clinic in Brooklyn; it impudently went against Comstock Act and several other laws. In 1920 Sangers methods became less extensive and that same year she founded the American Birth Control League, now known as Planned Parenthood. This was one of the biggest milestones in her career as a feminist. In 1925 she gave her memorable speech The Children s Era at the first birth control conference.
