INTRODUCTION
The USA was strongly opposed to communism.
By 1949, it seemed that communism will spread all over the world
unless someone will do something to stop it.
From 1950’s to 1970’s, the Americans tried to contain ar to stop the
spread of this aggressive ideology.
Different methods of containment were used during 3 important
events:
- The Korean War
- The Cuban missile crisis and,
- The Vietnam war.

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE COLD WAR
The superpowers regularly argued with each other in the United
Nations Assembly, where each side criticised the actions of the other.
Sometimes the superpowers criticised each other through tv shows,
newspapers, art and films.
Sometimes they threatened military confrontation with each other.
Superpowers commonly sent troops or advisers to help other states
or groups to disrupt the aims and plans of their opponents

1991 – Collapse of Soviet Union

After World War 2, the USA and USSR were the major superpowers.
Unfortunately, relations between them went rapidly downhill.
