Police Ethical Issues
There are a plethora of ethical issues with the first story but few for the second story. Starting with the
first story, the first ethical issue I found was the opposition many of the officers had towards the idea
of community policing. As a police officer you take an oath to serve and protect citizens and serving
takes on many forms not just crime fighting. Other ethical issues that I witness was prostitution, the
home owners throw eggs at the john s car, littering and leaving trash on the ground of the home
owners, the police officers lack of response and only reacting once they were caught slacking on the
job. To me the biggest issue was the neglect police officer showed towards the community trying to
better its self. While the department stated they had more pressing matter to deal with it was evident
they more than enough resources and time to correct the issue. ... Show more content on

The prostitutes and john s where in Stage 2, they only cared about making money or receiving
pleasure. Not only did they disregard the home owner to leave the area but they left their garage all
over the streets. I believe the police officers where in Stage 1of the Kohlberg s Stage of development.
While they showed interest in wanting to preserve law in order in the community, they felt that they
had better things to do. They knew the consequences of not doing their job yet apparently they did
nothing to correct the matter. With the second story the only ethical issue I found was the veteran cop
reason why the store owner paid for their meal. He made it seem like the store owner had a debt to
pay. Besides that I didn t find any other ethical

A Segregated Education By Jonathan Kozol
A Segregated Education
It has become common today to dismiss the lack of education coming from our impoverished public
schools. Jonathan Kozol an award winning social injustice writer, trying to bring to light how our
school system talks to their students. In his essay Still Separate, Still Unequal, Kozol visits many
public high schools as well as public elementary schools across the country, realizing the outrageous
truth about segregating in our public education system. Kozol, cross examining children describing
their feelings as being put away where no one desires your presence. Children feeling diminished for
being a minority; attending a school that does not take into consideration at the least the child s well
being. Showing clear signs of segregation in the education system. Many education writers have much
to say about the education taking place in our public schools, as well as Kozol. For Instance Diane
Ravitch a research professor of education at New York University spoke about an interesting truth,
saying, The achievement gaps are rooted in social, political, and economic structures. If we are
unwilling to change the root cause, we are unlikely ever to close the gaps. The success of our children
s education is mainly caused by economic, social and political statue. If one does not end the cycle the
gap will most likely never close. This may tie in with when Kozol cites Marina Warner, an essayist
and novelist, saying, There are expensive children and there

Father Figures In Romeo And Juliet
Father figures in our life are very important while developing our characteristics and morals. When we
are little we look up to our fathers for advice and guidance on how we should act. As that would be the
social normality now in the twentieth century, in the olden day such as when Romeo and Juliet was
written and performed, the father would be a ruler and forced to work to the extreme so the son or
daughter would not have a full father figure. They could find a father figure in another person such as
Romeo did with Friar Laurence. Romeo looked to Friar Laurence with respect that a father would
receive, he could ask for any advice and he could go to him with any issue. To Romeo, Friar Laurence
was a fatherly figure there to support Romeo s

Conducting an Effective Professional Meeting
Preparation Before Meeting Identify Purpose
Gregorio Billikopf, University of California Berkeley, described meetings as, ...are held to inform
people about policies or operations, gather information, conduct training, resolve problems, or make
decisions. Meetings can be a useful tool in directly communicating to members of the organization. In
order to conduct a successful meeting, identify the purpose and ensure that all members are on the
same page. A meeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Setting Agenda
Most failed professional meetings are due to a lack of focus and unclear goals. It is extremely
important to come prepared with a specific agenda and a clear understanding of what must be
accomplished. While one can be flexible, the agenda must list the topics that will be discussed as well
as the goals; it is really the road map to a successful meeting. The agenda should include; a review
from previous business meetings, a dialogue of new issues, and a clear evaluation of the group s goals.
One can use judgment to add or subtract items from the agenda as the meeting develops, as long as the
route still leads towards the final goals. Using colleagues time efficiently is necessary to make ones
meeting enjoyable and helps to build group morale. It is recommended that supervisors of the meeting
should not be too optimistic about what should be accomplished in a single meeting.
During Meeting
Interactions
It is of paramount importance that the person running the meeting keeps it on topic, while making sure
that everyone s opinions are heard. At times, subjects can arouse strong emotions, and it must be
recognized as a time to better understand one s needs. Members should discuss problems that are
occurring. Other factors influencing group interaction include seating, refreshments, temperature,
lighting, and ventilation. While one should never be late for a meeting, there is a correct way to enter
prior to the

A Qualitative Research Assignment
Quantitative Research Assignment Music is very popular in the world. It s always changing. They re
so many different types of music: rap, pop, jazz, rock, gospel, country, and even more. They re so
many songs out in the world that has cover songs. In this paper I had to choose any song from any
genre and two covers of the original song and conduct a survey. I chose to stick with pop music
because that s what most people prefer. The song that I chose was Hello by Adele. My two covers are
made by The Animal In Me, cover one, and Leroy Sanchez, cover two. Doing the survey I will learn
how people respond to cover songs. I predict that most people would choose the second cover song by
Leroy Sanchez because it s a guy who sings and the way he sings it lets you know how he really feels
about what he s saying. Method I had to choose an original song; then find two covers of the song and
give a survey. I chose Hello by Adele as my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Animal In Me made their version with the same instruments used in the original song and they
also kept the same lyrics as well. What they did to better their version, is that they made their Hello
with a little mixture of rock and pop music, instead of just pop. While the song Hello by Leroy
Sanchez was the same as the original song but was played by a male. My hypothesis was wrong. I
predicted that most people would prefer Hello by Leroy Sanchez rather than the one by Adele or The
Animal In Me. I thought people would chose Leroy version because it s a softer version of Adele, but
because The Animal In Me was something different then what you would normally hear, that s why
most people chose them instead. The reason why some covers disappoint listeners is because most
artist just remake the song just the way it was originally was instead of changing it up to something

Cons Of Genetic Engineering
Food, pesticides, pharmaceuticals and insect control are among a few of the different avenues of
Genetic Engineering (GE). One sad truth associated with genetic engineering is the lack of adequate
testing to assure the health and well being of society and the environment. The companies that hold
the GE patents and our government seem to more concerned with profits, than that of human life and
the effects on the environment. In this day and age, illnesses and other forms of aliments of our
society are multiplying at alarming rates. Drug manufactures, in such a hurry to get their latest drugs
to market, little, if any, testing is being done to assure that the drugs themselves are safe for human
consumption. The risks of GE unknowns, far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any severe environmental stress such as drought and global warming can trigger unpredictable
changes to engineered crops. It is this combination of unpredictability and ignorance that led Dr. Barry
Commoner, one of our nation s most eminent biologists, to conclude: The genetically engineered
crops now being grown represent a massive uncontrolled experiment whose outcome is inherently
unpredictable. The results could be catastrophic. (Commoner) Allergies are often overlooked,
especially when weighed against the potential benefits of a new drug. Yet they affect a large number
of people (about 2.5% of American adults and 6 8% of children, or 8 million in the U.S.), and the
incidence of allergies has been rising in recent years for unknown reasons. Reactions are not limited to
watery eyes; some experience intense itching and welts, others life threatening anaphylactic shock,
which kills an estimated 150 Americans each year. If a plant grown drug with allergenic properties
were to contaminate the food supply, unsuspecting individuals prone to allergies would be unable to
take any action to avoid consuming the contaminated food, with potentially fatal consequences.
People susceptible to food allergies, without proper labeling have no knowledge of what they are
actually consuming; therefore, they could possibly be endangering their lives by eating foods that they
are highly allergic to. The Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (1966), for

The Fashionable Mrs Blue Essay
The Fashionable Mrs. Blue has a Plan and a Clue
Stacy Heydt
Mr. and Mrs. Blue lived in the big city. Mr. Blue wanted to move to the country. Mrs. Blue did not.
She loved to shop in the big city stores. He did not.
Mr. Blue, what will you do?
I have a clue as to what I can do to make my wife happy, he thought.
Mr. Blue bought a small farm with a big barn not too far from the city.
Next he bought several alpacas. That s how Mr. Blue became Farmer Blue.
The alpacas were happy living on Farmer Blue s farm. They ran, pronked, and played in the pasture.
They munched on the green grass. Their favorite time of day was when Farmer Blue fed them grain.

what she would do with all her fabulous fashions. Her reply?
Well, of course I do, Farmer Blue. You should know I have a clue. Then she told him her plan.
I ll invite all my friends from the big city to come and see our alpacas and shop in our new store. And
so she did. Her friends from the big city came to see the alpacas.
They were amazed that Mrs. Blue had made so many beautiful fashions from the alpacas fiber. Then
they shopped and shopped and SHOPPED some more.
Soon the store was empty and the cash register was full. The fiber studio and store were a success!
Mrs. Blue smiled. Her fabulous fiber fashions were being worn all around the big city. She was named

History of Time Telling Machines
The Tick in the Clock New technology often begins with the clear intention of solving an ongoing
problem or satisfying a societal need. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the
toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard
drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has
functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more
technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one
looks up at a clock.
The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. According
to Artemidorus of Daldis, a second century A.D. writer, A clock signifies occupations and
undertakings, movements and the start of transactions. For men keep their eyes on the time in all that
they do, (Dohrn van Rossum 17). Not only does a clock keep track of time, it signifies the need for the
human race to organize and control their surroundings, as it has been from the first encounter between
technology and the human race.
The technology of a clock is simple yet varied. The clock s shell is usually made out of brass, copper,
tin or zinc. After the shell is molded the components of the clock are assembled; significant working
parts including the face, arms, power source, gear train, escapement, wheels, mainspring, pendulum
and quartz are all

Lewis Alan Reed s Life And Work
Lewis Alan Reed was born on March 2, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. In Freeport, Long Island Reed
grew up with his Jewish family (Lou). Early on Reed expressed an interest in music. During his high
school career he played guitar in many bands. Reed went through electric shock therapy, during high
school days, to try to cure him from bisexuality (Lou). After Reed graduated from high school he
attended Syracuse University to study poetry and journalism. Many of Lou s poems were published in
Fusion magazine, and in 1977 the Coordinating Council of Literary Magazine gave Reed an award for
his poem The Slide (Simon). Reed then went back to New York and got a job at Pickwick Records,
where he helped a studio band with the songs that he wrote. During his time at Pickwick Records he
met John Cale whom he formed the band Primitives, which further on became known as Warlocks.
After recording one record Cale and Reed enlisted Sterling Morrison, a guitarist, and Moe Tucker, a
drummer, to make up the Velvet Underground. From 1966 to 1970 Velvet Underground recorded four
albums, but Lou Reed did not stay to complete the last album (Simon).
In 1972 Reed moved to England and began his solo career. Reed s first solo album Lou Reed was

because of how theatrical they were, such as one show Reed pretended to shoot up heroin while
singing Heroin (Simon). Because Lou Reed hated his album, Sally Can t Dance, his next album, Metal

Little Chinese Seamstress
In the novel Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Dai Sijie explores the power of literature and
the impact it has on the narrator. The narrator is forced to move to an isolated mountain village for re
education during China s Cultural Revolution, in which the oppressive government prohibited art and
literature. The novel examines the narrator s dynamic character through the changes he experiences by
reading banned Western novels. Western literature affects the narrator s thoughts and changes him
from a shy introvert, into a pensive, imaginative character capable of independence.

During the course of this dangerous pilgrimage, the narrator is filled with fear at the dizzying depth
(113) of the ridge he must cross. In the midst of his paralyzing terror, the narrator asks himself, I

wave of his conductors baton he would tell me which way to go... After all, how could I die now,
without having known love or sex, without having taken free individual action against the whole
world, as he had (114). The novel Jean Christophe has certainly affected the narrator greatly. The
narrator has become so attached to the protagonist of this novel that he even questions his own
emotional state. The character Jean Christophe poses as a role model for the narrator, and is his
motivation for moving forward. The narrator sees himself as pitiful in comparison to Jean Christophe
s admirable persona, and uses this contrast to overcome his fear in pursuit of personal change. The

Napping Papers
Most animals, 85%, sleep in short periods during the day it will be beneficial for us to do the same.
Napping is helpful to humans, but sleeping is essential to us, however even though napping is optional
it is still along with sleeping important. Sleeping and Napping are very beneficial to human beings.
Eventually, Bad sleep habits and long term sleep loss will add up and will start to negatively affect
your health. If you routinely lose sleep or choose to sleep less than needed, the sleep loss adds up
(Source 1, Paragraph 2). Not getting enough sleep will always add up even if you only miss an hour a
day that will still add up to seven hours every week and therefore this can cause substantial sleep debt
that can t be paid back because you can only sleep at a certain time your biological clock allows. With
sleep being a prerequisite for human life and needed to live. Thus, you will not be able to pay back the
sleep debt causing your wellbeing to be negatively impacted and will ultimately hurt you. Alongside

Professional Sports And The Civil Era
Professional sports were segregated in the United States, just like the rest of the country was during
the 1940s, but between the cooperation of two men the color barrier was broken in professional sports.
The unwritten rule of not allowing blacks to play professional baseball had been standing since the
1880s. No professional sport in America at the time had any participating African Americans, yet
many African Americans were participating in the Olympics. Famous African American olympians,
such as Jesse Owens and John Taylor, were highly celebrated for their accomplishments, yet no
change was made within the professional sports world. Robinson was not the first attempt at breaking
the color barrier in professional sports but Branch Rickey, the President and GM of the Dodgers, felt
he was the one to complete the transformation. The African Americans in the United States were still
playing baseball beyond college at this time, but in their own collection of leagues called the Negro
Major Leagues. African Americans were able to play in some of the integrated colleges around the
country but the integration ended there. They were allowed to play in Major League Baseball but it
just did not happen, the MLB commissioner of the time Judge Landis said, there was no rule on the
books prohibiting a black man from joining a major league team. It was up to the owners to hire
whom they pleased (Golenbock). Judge Landis had no problem stating the fact that they were allowed

Security Aspects Of Lisk Security
The security aspects of Lisk are on the higher side. Since the applications are built on the sidechains,
the failure of an application does not affect the Lisk network which is not the case in many other
blockchain platforms. All aspects of the Lisk system is secured using cryptographic hash techniques.
The EdDSA technique is adopted in Lisk as it does hashing fast and provide high security. Along with
the security provided using public and private keypairs, additional security is provided using a second
passphrase which has association with the public key of the user. The users can opt for extra security

Activity For Success
John Wooden once said, Never mistake activity for achievement. To me achievement means
accomplishing something while activity merely means you ve done something. Don t get me wrong, I
have always thought when a person is in doubt they should just do something! However, in the end we
re all measured by our achievement not our action. In order to adhere to a schedule to succeed in my
online class I believe I should achieve the following; creating realistic goals, devoting the necessary
time to complete tasks, and staying in communication with my instructor. The first step I should do in
order to adhere to my schedule is to create realistic goals. When setting realistic goals it is really
important to define what I would like to achieve.

animals [1] , but biodiversity is so much more than that. Biodiversity is incredibly important to a well

The majority of human activities are incredibly detrimental to the environment, and we need to reduce
these activities if we want to save our planet. Activities that cause things like pollution, deforestation,
global warming, and excessive water usage are some of the major causes of our environment s
decline. All of these are caused by one activity: animal agriculture. According to the UN s report, the
livestock industry is one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious
environmental problems, at every scale from local to global. [5] To lessen the blow of animal
agriculture on our environment, I propose that we enact Meatless Mondays. Meatless Mondays is a
trend in which one day a week, you substitute all meat products with another food. In my action plan,
we will start Meatless Mondays right here at SDA and if successful, we will branch out to the entire

Gawain goes to the green chapel to meet the Green Knight. When Gawain and the Green knight meet,
the green knight tells him to get down so he can complete the game. The green knight swings three
times. The first time the green knight swings he stops because Gawain flinches, the second time he has
a practice swing, and the final swing he only nicks him on the neck. The writer says And he struck
hard, but hurt him only with a nick, that snipped the skin (pg.127, line 2311 2312). The reason to this
shows that the green knight knows that Gawain is virtuous. He knows that even though he took his

and the loss I suffered for the cowardice, the greed, that came to my soul. This sign of bad faith is the
mark of my sin: I ll wear it on my wait as long as I live (pg.133 line 2507 2510). This signifies that he

Laboratory of the Microwave and Radar
Recently in 2010, Hocine Kimouche, Djamel Abed and Brahim Atrouz from the Laboratory of the
Microwave and Radar, Ecole Militarie Polytechnique ( EMP), Algeria proposed the novel microstrip
patch antenna design within the inverted stepped cone slot ground antenna. The dependence of the
bandwidth on the main parameters design had been investigated. It would found that by choosing the
suitable combinations of the feed and slot shapes and the tuning their sizes, the optimum operating
bandwidth could be obtained. The proposed antenna has an omni directional pattern at (x y) plane for
all the measured impedance bandwidth, which are covered the commercial Ultra wide band.
In 2010, Li Zhiyong, Zhang Qian, Wang Huilong and Liu Yunlin from the Laboratory of the
Electromagnetic and Microwave, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu, China presented Ultra
wide band microstrip fed antenna with L shape ground application. The current path of the ground
plane would enlarged by using the L shaped ground which are improved the impedance bandwidth
performance. The notch would inserted on the ground plane under the microstrip line to enhance the
impedance matching of the antenna. The proposed antenna are designed to the operate over a 3.3GHz
to 12GHz for the S11 less than the 10dB and they provides a good omnidirectional radiation patterns.
The Simulated results showed that the proposed antenna can be a good candidate for the hand held

Lego Of The Lego Group
Background
The Lego group was established in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark. Lego today is
one of the most recognizable brands in the world. However, that does not mean that they haven t had
to make some changes along the way to reach and stay at that position. Lego needed to change
because of increased expansion of their product line which lead Lego to the brink of going bankrupt.
In the year 2000, the Lego group had a huge sales growth. By 2004, they were projected to lose
somewhere around two billion dollars. This lead to talks about bankruptcy, breakup of the company, or
even the sale of the company. Regardless of the talks, it was quite obviously that something had to be
done before any of that talk became a reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kids were starting to lose interest in toys earlier than normal and became more interested in electronic
multimedia. The second change was that retailers who sold Lego products were changing to become
super stores like most are today. This lead to manufacturers needing to now also compete for shelf
space as well as customers. The third change in the toy industry was that manufacturing was being
outsourced to Asia. The cheaper labor costs in Asia lead to companies pricing their products lower.
This and the US dollars worth going down hurt the Lego group because there were more cheaply
available products in the market. The last change in toy industry was basically an exact copy of the
Lego bricks that were being sold cheaper than Lego s. These new competitors were able to produce a
cheaper product and bring new products to the market faster that Lego could. This became more
trouble when the court failed to give them trademark protection on the bricks. Overall, these were the
major occurring to the toy industry that lead to a needed change by the Lego group.
Change Initiatives
As discussed in the background, the Lego company needed to make some changes to avoid
bankruptcy and the breakup of the company. To make these changes the Lego group hired Jorgen Vig
Knudstorp as their new CEO in 2004. These changes were broken down into three phases that would

Sermon On The Mount Chapter 1 Summary
The book of Matthew, The Sermon on the Mount is one account of what Jesus taught during his walk
on earth. Many people of that time witnessed the sermon and were amazed and astonished, not from
what was said, but how it was said. The multitudes of people felted as if Jesus was truly the authority
of God. The purpose of this essay is to offer a critical review of the writing that was presented in class.
Jesus taught that every man has some decisions to make on their journey to the land of milk and
honey.
The story beings from the book of Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7. Chapter 5 starts with Jesus teaching
from the Old Testament writings. And seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain, and when
he was seated, his disciples came to him, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jesus said, Be Careful, When you do good deeds, do not do it for any other reason than to bring glory
to the Father. Do this act in private and keep these things to yourselves. Jesus continues his teachings
on the following subjects: prayer, how to pray, fasting, that you cannot serve masters, put God s
kingdom first. Chapter 7 continues with, be careful about criticizing others, ask God for all of your
needs, do for others what you would want them to do for you. This is the meaning of the Law of
Moses and the teachings of the prophets. (Puchner, 2013, p.823) He finishes his teaches with, The way
to heaven is one of the narrow path and the dangers of the wide path and how to distinguish good
people from bad with the parable of the fruit of the trees. He warns the multitude that anyone that does
not heed the story will surely regret it as he explains it though the following parable, he who builds his
house on rock will ensure that it will never fall and those who build their house on sand will surely see
it crash. (Puchner, 2013, p.824) This can mean, be mindful, take this message and build your trust in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Composites In Oil Industry
COMPOSITES IN OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY
Composite materials are multiphase materials obtained through the artificial combination of different
materials in order to attain properties that the individual components by themselves cannot attain.
They are not multiphase materials in which the different phases are formed naturally by reactions,
phase transformations, or other phenomena. An example is carbon fiber reinforced polymer.
Composite materials should be distinguished from alloys, which can comprise two more components
but are formed naturally through processes such as casting. Composite materials can be tailored for
various properties by appropriately choosing their components, their proportions, their distributions,
their morphologies, their degrees of crystallinity, their crystallographic textures, as well as the
structure and composition of the interface between components. Due to this strong tailor ability,
composite materials can be designed to satisfy the needs of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Due to the use of them, mass of construction is reduced up to 80%. Composites are already greatly
used for the production of pipe systems for fluid transport, pressure vessels, drill pipes and their
couplings, tanks for fluid storage, risers, pipes for coiled drilling installations, partitions on platforms
for the protection against fire etc. Basic advantages of the use of composite materials when compared
to conventional material which is steel, are reduction of mass of primary and secondary constructions,
introduction of new technologies (for example installation of conducting infrastructures into drill
pipes), better physical and chemical characteristics (corrosion resistance, buckling strength), longer
life time of the construction (for example within 25 years carbon fibers lose 2 10% of initial strength),
easy installation of the construction, higher safety at work, and minimum

The Timeless Power of Les Miserables
The Timeless Power of Les Miserables
The book Les Miserables, written by Victor Hugo in 1862, created a sensation throughout the world
(Royston and Schlesinger 2). That impression continued through theatrical productions and most
recently the musical, but the book contains greater detail and adds a deeper understanding of Hugo s
epic story than the movie or musical portray. Regretfully, few people in World society take the time to
relish this masterpiece. Living in a fast paced world, many people today consider reading a time
consuming, senseless activity, and those who still read most likely choose a shorter novel rather than
the 1500 page story of Les Miserables. However, the author states, I don t know if it will ... Show

Daughter to the Thenardiers, Eponine adores Marius who sees her merely as a friend. This creates a

characters. The feeling of discontentment among the people and loyalty to the barricade helps to shape
the outcome of each individual sub plot. The outcome of each story affects Valjean s life in various
ways and degrees. Society today anticipates an action filled novel to entertain them, and Les
Miserables provides intense action through its many stories without confusing or boring the reader.
Finally, the theme of Les Miserables still entices people in this decade. Dwight Hillis describes the
theme by stating, Les Miserables is unique, in that it exhibits the worst man as having a divine spark
that no injustice can extinguish, a spark which God guards and feeds, making it incorruptible in this
life and immortal in the next (123). The idea that goodness always prevails and receives its award
strongly exists in the hopes of people today as it did when Hugo wrote the novel. Jean Valjean stems
from the classification as a thief and rises through his good deeds in life to become a saint (Lee 1). Not

The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster happened on February 1st, 2003, and was the second and final

external disaster planning with the Columbia. In my research it seems that NASA as long been an

that, had these shortfalls not been exposed and attributed to the loss of the shuttle, there was little that

discrepancy should have been prior to flight, and according to many articles I read, the detaching foam

Essay on A Taste of Honey by Shelagh Delaney
In writing A Taste of Honey, what impact did Shelagh Delaney hope to have upon her audience? What
techniques did she use to achieve these aims? Shelagh Delaney wrote A Taste of Honey in 1958 when
she was only 18.
A Taste of Honey is a story about the relationship between a girl and her mother. The mother, Helen,
who is a semi whore, leaves her daughter, Jo, to get married to Peter. Jo has a relationship with a sailor
and gets pregnant. The sailor then leaves for duty. Jo meets
Geoff, they become friends and Geoff offers to help Jo bring up the baby. Helen returns after splitting
up with Peter and wants Jo back.
The audience that Shelagh Delaney was writing for consisted mainly of middle class and upper class
people. Her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was not how the working classes lived and Shelagh
Delaney outlined this very clearly in A Taste of Honey .
Although the characters live in a world where they are treated differently because of their class, race
and sexuality, they still enjoy life. Shelagh Delaney represents this and puts forward ideas without
prejudice.
From this play we can see that Shelagh Delaney wanted to change theatrical productions to represent
the working classes rather than the upper classes. In many previous productions the working classes
had been represented as gloomy and bad tempered. She was not afraid to try new ideas, bringing a
completely new angle to theatrical productions. The audience were now seeing plays about real people
living in a real world, not ideal families living in perfect situations. The audience would have been
shocked by the reality factor of this play.
Presenting the working classes in a play had been a problem to many previous playwrights. They had
wanted to include them in their plays but had wanted to miss out the reality factor. Shelagh Delaney
was not frightened to show this side of life and has overcome the problem by showing the working
classes as they really are. She achieves this by presenting the characters as down to earth and creates
an environment which is basic and slightly crude.

commercial depicts a man with a majestic beard in the wild having a delightful time with the most
fierce predators in that environment such as bears and eagles. According to Dr. Pepper, males must
have some sort of caloric intake in a drink in order to be classified as a manly man in society. Dr.

toward the male population, Dr. Pepper revealed this ad in a comical way. In the ad, the man was
walking in the woods eating a piece of wood. Also, during the entirety of the ad, one may agree to the
statement that the background music was a way to exploit comedic relief while disclosing the sexist
information. The music was intended to ease the tension one may have felt from this ad. The logic
behind the comedic relief was to express a very sexist message in a humorous way in order to keep
peace within the society. One may agree that the ad was executed perfectly by breaking the fourth
wall; the bearded man stared directly at the camera and smiled which indicated that the ad was formed
for entertainment purposes, but also to express a message in a non offending manner. Stereotyping
men to be manly and strong looking was an excellent method to grab ahold of the men in life that
consists of a nine to five day jobs, have kids to take care of, and wives they must please in order to
maintain balance and peace within the house. This ad was stereotyped to the demographic of men
because women already have their own niche drink, Diet Dr. Pepper. Men also need their own niche

Phytonutrients (Lycopene)
Abstract
Phytonutrients are manufactured in pants where they are in turn utilized by humans to avoid various
health issues. The production of these chemicals is often prevalent among plants such as vegetables
and fruits. Phytonutrients may be classified into Terpenoids, Alkaloids and Phenolic depending on the
chemical structure, phytonutrients are categories into different classes which include; Resveratrol,
Epicatechin, Lycopene, and Lutein. Lycopene may be referred to as a bright red, fat soluble
phytonutrient that is often found in tomatoes and other fruits with red pigmentation. Lycopene is also
fundamental to the growth and development of plants as it plays an essential role in the biosynthesis of
various types of carotenoids. The chemical compound does this by interrupting any signals that are
likely to prolong or promote the generation of cancerous tumors. Lycopene can limit or slow down the
growth of prostate and breast cancer. This paper is aimed at highlighting the benefits of Lycopene to
both plants as well as humans in general.
Introduction
Also referred to as phytochemicals, phytonutrients include a range of chemicals, usually produced by
plants that are believed to have health benefits for both plant and animal species. Plants often utilize
these phytonutrients to promote their health in their growth and development. Some of the benefits
that plants are likely to derive from such chemicals include

Meyrowitz s Theory Of Communication
Medium theory by Joshua Meyrowitz, (1985) refers to the body of literature that focuses on the
various approaches used in examining how different means of expression of human communication
affect the communication process in the society. It mainly focuses on the technological aspect of the
media later than its content. According to Croteau and Hoynes, (2003) the medium theory aims at
determining the look beyond the media content that reveals its social impact to the society. Various
scholars also investigated the medium theory and its impact to the communication industry in the
society. For instance the contribution by McLuhan, (1963, 1966, 1988) and Postman, (1985) indicate

What Criteria Could You Differentiate Among Multiple...
Questions
1. How would you differentiate among multiple discriminant analysis, regression analysis, logistic
regression analysis, and analysis of variance?
The main difference is in the number of independent and dependent variables and the way in which
these variables are measured. Note the following definitions:
In Multiple discriminant analysis (MDA), the predictor or independent variables are metric and the
single criterion or dependent variable is non metric . In Regression Analysis , both the multiple
independent variables and the single dependent variable are metric. In Analysis of Variance (ANOVA)
, the single independent variable is non metric and the multiple dependent variables are metric.

interpretation.
4. How would you determine the optimum cutting score?
For equal group sizes, the optimum cutting score is defined by ZA + ZB
ZCE =
N
ZCE is the critical cutting score value for equal size groups, ZA is the centroid for group A and ZB is
the centroid for Group B and N is the total sample size.
For unequal group sizes, the optimum cutting score is defined by NAZA + NBZB
ZCU =
NA + NB
ZCU = is the critical cutting score value for unequal size groups, NA is the sample size for group A
and NB is the sample size for Group B
5. How would you determine whether the classification accuracy of the discriminant function is
sufficiently high relative to chance classification?
There has to be some chance criterion that should be established. This is generally a fairly straight
forward function of the classifications that is used in the model and of the sample size. The authors
then suggest the criterion that the classification accuracy or the hit ratio must be at least twenty five
percent greater than by chance. Other test can be to use a test of proportions to examine for the
significance between the obtained hit ratio proportion and the chance criterion proportion .

Euthyphro Dilemma Research Paper
What is the Euthyphro Dilemma or Problem? How is it resolved? First, Socrates encounters
Euthyphro outside the court of Athens, where he was called upon to be charged with impiety by
Meletus, which is the lack of being religious towards god. On the other end, Euthyphro was present at
court that day to prosecute his own father for accidentally murdering an innocent slave worker, by
throwing him in a ditch. Socrates believes Euthyphro must know what is right from wrong, if he is
responsible for the prosecution of his own father. Since, Socrates felt sure that the people of Athenian
in general did not understand the true nature of piety or impiety. Euthyphro claims to know all that

The fact is that there should be a reason for something to be valid, and in this case, is something true
because it is said to be true, or is it true because it has evidence that leads to it being true. Also, is

prosecuting his father was the correct thing to do, he thought that being pious or morally correct were
at the same level as the laws of the physical universe, which is everything that exists today. At this
point Euthyphro knows that he needs to explain piety which helps reference qualities in the way other

Ohio Adverse Possession Laws Case Summary
On January 1, 2008, four lawsuits involving Brad Pitt were filed in Ohio. The first was brought by
Matt Damon against Brad Pitt to acquire quiet title to one acre of Brad s land that Matt had cleared
and built a barn on. Looking into quiet titles and adverse possession laws will determine if Matt can
get title to the land or not. The second case involves Snazzy Jeff, a paparazzo, seeing Maddox, Brad s
son, dropped his Pokémon camera. Snazzy Jeff then came up and took the item hoping to find pictures
to sell on it without informing Brad or Maddox. This may be a case of lost property or theft that needs
to be evaluated. The third case involves Brad suing Jackie Philabaum at the request of his wife. At the

To acquire a quiet title to the land Matt Damon only needs 21 of those years. According to Ohio law,
the person wanting to obtain title from adverse possession must have possessed the property for 21
years without the permission of the owner, but in clear knowledge of the owner ( Ohio Adverse
Possession Laws ). There are four requirements listed to obtain a quiet title starting with using the land
without permission of the owner. Then they must treat the land as their own, use the land in an
obvious way and for a continuous period of time without sharing with others ( Ohio Adverse
Possession Laws ). Matt Daman easily completes all four of these requirements. He never asked Brad
for permission to clear the land and build a barn on Brad s land, but did. Brad repeatedly visited and
inspected the property in 1986, 1996, and 2002, seeing the barn but never saying anything to Matt.
Matt appears to have also used the land for a continuous period totaling 21 years before requesting
title to the one acre of land. Brad may have a defense if he had talked to Matt at any time about the
property and can prove it, but it will be a hard case to win for him. Matt will win this case for a quiet
title to the one acre of land with his barn on it because of the time that had passed with no objection or
other claims of possession by Brad. Later, with four children to

Pros And Cons Of A Written Constitution
What is Constitution? A constitution can be defined as being a body of rules which regulates the
system of government within a state. It establishes the bodies and institutions which form part of that
system.it provides the powers which they are to exercise, it determines how they are to interact and
coexist with one another and, perhaps most importantly of all. It is concerned with the relationship
between government and the individual. (Parpworth).
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WRITTEN AND UNWRITTEN
A written constitution is one contained within a single document or a series of documents, with or
without amendments, defining the basic rules of the state. More recent written constitutions derive
from the grant or devolution of legislative power from previously imperial powers to former colonies
and dominions, whether secured as a result of peaceful settlement or violent revolution. . A written
constitution is generally rigid and a procedure separate from that of enacting ordinary law is provided

Taking a Look at Hydras and Flatworms
PART 1:
Q 1. Hydra can move from one place to another by flexing the body and gripping the substrate with
the tentacles and then looping the body over the mouth to gain a new position. Explain exactly what
mechanisms and principles are involved in this movement? The full answer to this question involves
the hydrostatic skeleton formed by the gastrovascular cavity and contractile cells. [5 6 sentences]
The movement of hydra is called looping/somersaulting. This movement is possible due to the
presence of a hydrostatic skeleton. This fluid filled chamber can be bent and moulded into different
shapes. When the muscle cells (longitudinal and circular) contract, hydrostatic fluid from the gastro
vascular cavity (GVC) is squeezed in a certain direction (depending on type of muscle cell). The
contraction of longitudinal muscles cells leads to hydrostatic fluid from the GVC in an outwards and
downwards direction, this makes the hydra seem compressed. When the circular muscle cells contract
(squeezing the GVC from the sides) the hydrostatic liquid is forced in an upwards manner, this in turn
elongates the hydra. A combination of elongation and compression allows itself to somersault itself to
a new position.
Q 2. What reasons can you think of that might limit this type of body form to aquatic systems? [5 6
sentences]
Being a freshwater dwelling organism, the obvious source of the hydrostatic fluid in the gastro
vascular cavity for the hydra is from its surroundings

The market for farm produce is volatile, reflecting changes in climate as well as market trends. As
such it is often difficult to predict harvest yields. Overproduction in 2000 resulted in the price of raw
cranberries falling from over $60 a barrel to under $20. Atlantic Quench responded to the volatile
market by reducing its advertising and marketing budget. In addition to cutting back on expenditure,
the co operative paid the farmers $12 a barrel instead of the $18 a barrell market price. As a result the
relationship between the management of the co operative and the farmers deteriorated, and the farmers
exercised their power as shareholders of the co operative by voting out four successive Chief
Executive Officers (CEOs) between 2000 and 2003.
When Chuck Berrie was appointed CEO in 2003, his immediate priority was to discuss with the
farmers whether or not a co operative approach to managing the business was still an appropriate and
preferred option. The CEO had previously spent six years working for another co operative as Chief
Marketing Officer at Welch Foods Inc. During those six years he had contributed to doubling the
market share of the organisation. According to Berrie, The beauty of being a co op is not being judged
by quarterly results, but by generations passing on to the next generation. Indeed, many Atlantic

  • 2. Police Ethical Issues There are a plethora of ethical issues with the first story but few for the second story. Starting with the first story, the first ethical issue I found was the opposition many of the officers had towards the idea of community policing. As a police officer you take an oath to serve and protect citizens and serving takes on many forms not just crime fighting. Other ethical issues that I witness was prostitution, the home owners throw eggs at the john s car, littering and leaving trash on the ground of the home owners, the police officers lack of response and only reacting once they were caught slacking on the job. To me the biggest issue was the neglect police officer showed towards the community trying to better its self. While the department stated they had more pressing matter to deal with it was evident they more than enough resources and time to correct the issue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The prostitutes and john s where in Stage 2, they only cared about making money or receiving pleasure. Not only did they disregard the home owner to leave the area but they left their garage all over the streets. I believe the police officers where in Stage 1of the Kohlberg s Stage of development. While they showed interest in wanting to preserve law in order in the community, they felt that they had better things to do. They knew the consequences of not doing their job yet apparently they did nothing to correct the matter. With the second story the only ethical issue I found was the veteran cop reason why the store owner paid for their meal. He made it seem like the store owner had a debt to pay. • 3. A Segregated Education By Jonathan Kozol A Segregated Education It has become common today to dismiss the lack of education coming from our impoverished public schools. Jonathan Kozol an award winning social injustice writer, trying to bring to light how our school system talks to their students. In his essay Still Separate, Still Unequal, Kozol visits many public high schools as well as public elementary schools across the country, realizing the outrageous truth about segregating in our public education system. Kozol, cross examining children describing their feelings as being put away where no one desires your presence. Children feeling diminished for being a minority; attending a school that does not take into consideration at the least the child s well being. Showing clear signs of segregation in the education system. Many education writers have much to say about the education taking place in our public schools, as well as Kozol. For Instance Diane Ravitch a research professor of education at New York University spoke about an interesting truth, saying, The achievement gaps are rooted in social, political, and economic structures. If we are unwilling to change the root cause, we are unlikely ever to close the gaps. The success of our children s education is mainly caused by economic, social and political statue. If one does not end the cycle the gap will most likely never close. This may tie in with when Kozol cites Marina Warner, an essayist and novelist, saying, There are expensive children and there ... • 4. Father Figures In Romeo And Juliet Father figures in our life are very important while developing our characteristics and morals. When we are little we look up to our fathers for advice and guidance on how we should act. As that would be the social normality now in the twentieth century, in the olden day such as when Romeo and Juliet was written and performed, the father would be a ruler and forced to work to the extreme so the son or daughter would not have a full father figure. They could find a father figure in another person such as Romeo did with Friar Laurence. Romeo looked to Friar Laurence with respect that a father would receive, he could ask for any advice and he could go to him with any issue. To Romeo, Friar Laurence was a fatherly figure there to support Romeo s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Setting Agenda Most failed professional meetings are due to a lack of focus and unclear goals. It is extremely important to come prepared with a specific agenda and a clear understanding of what must be accomplished. While one can be flexible, the agenda must list the topics that will be discussed as well as the goals; it is really the road map to a successful meeting. The agenda should include; a review from previous business meetings, a dialogue of new issues, and a clear evaluation of the group s goals. One can use judgment to add or subtract items from the agenda as the meeting develops, as long as the route still leads towards the final goals. Using colleagues time efficiently is necessary to make ones meeting enjoyable and helps to build group morale. It is recommended that supervisors of the meeting should not be too optimistic about what should be accomplished in a single meeting. During Meeting Interactions It is of paramount importance that the person running the meeting keeps it on topic, while making sure that everyone s opinions are heard. At times, subjects can arouse strong emotions, and it must be recognized as a time to better understand one s needs. Members should discuss problems that are occurring. Other factors influencing group interaction include seating, refreshments, temperature, lighting, and ventilation. While one should never be late for a meeting, there is a correct way to enter prior to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Qualitative Research Assignment Quantitative Research Assignment Music is very popular in the world. It s always changing. They re so many different types of music: rap, pop, jazz, rock, gospel, country, and even more. They re so many songs out in the world that has cover songs. In this paper I had to choose any song from any genre and two covers of the original song and conduct a survey. I chose to stick with pop music because that s what most people prefer. The song that I chose was Hello by Adele. My two covers are made by The Animal In Me, cover one, and Leroy Sanchez, cover two. Doing the survey I will learn how people respond to cover songs. I predict that most people would choose the second cover song by Leroy Sanchez because it s a guy who sings and the way he sings it lets you know how he really feels about what he s saying. Method I had to choose an original song; then find two covers of the song and give a survey. I chose Hello by Adele as my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Animal In Me made their version with the same instruments used in the original song and they also kept the same lyrics as well. What they did to better their version, is that they made their Hello with a little mixture of rock and pop music, instead of just pop. While the song Hello by Leroy Sanchez was the same as the original song but was played by a male. My hypothesis was wrong. I predicted that most people would prefer Hello by Leroy Sanchez rather than the one by Adele or The Animal In Me. I thought people would chose Leroy version because it s a softer version of Adele, but because The Animal In Me was something different then what you would normally hear, that s why most people chose them instead. The reason why some covers disappoint listeners is because most artist just remake the song just the way it was originally was instead of changing it up to something new and ... One sad truth associated with genetic engineering is the lack of adequate testing to assure the health and well being of society and the environment. The companies that hold the GE patents and our government seem to more concerned with profits, than that of human life and the effects on the environment. In this day and age, illnesses and other forms of aliments of our society are multiplying at alarming rates. The risks of GE unknowns, far ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any severe environmental stress such as drought and global warming can trigger unpredictable changes to engineered crops. It is this combination of unpredictability and ignorance that led Dr. Barry Commoner, one of our nation s most eminent biologists, to conclude: The genetically engineered crops now being grown represent a massive uncontrolled experiment whose outcome is inherently unpredictable. The results could be catastrophic. (Commoner) Allergies are often overlooked, especially when weighed against the potential benefits of a new drug. Yet they affect a large number of people (about 2.5% of American adults and 6 8% of children, or 8 million in the U.S.), and the incidence of allergies has been rising in recent years for unknown reasons. Reactions are not limited to watery eyes; some experience intense itching and welts, others life threatening anaphylactic shock, which kills an estimated 150 Americans each year. If a plant grown drug with allergenic properties were to contaminate the food supply, unsuspecting individuals prone to allergies would be unable to take any action to avoid consuming the contaminated food, with potentially fatal consequences. People susceptible to food allergies, without proper labeling have no knowledge of what they are actually consuming; therefore, they could possibly be endangering their lives by eating foods that they are highly allergic to. • 9. History of Time Telling Machines The Tick in the Clock New technology often begins with the clear intention of solving an ongoing problem or satisfying a societal need. Many times, this new piece of technology is simple, such as the toothpick. Other times, a new technology can be a thing of great complexity, such as a computer hard drive or Facebook. One piece of technology in particular has changed the way human society has functioned over the past few centuries. Everyone strives to keep track of time, as more and more technologies arise and give way to an increased demand for a structured day. In order to do this, one looks up at a clock. The clock, to put it simply, is a device used to tell the hours, minutes, and seconds of a day. According to Artemidorus of Daldis, a second century A.D. writer, A clock signifies occupations and undertakings, movements and the start of transactions. For men keep their eyes on the time in all that they do, (Dohrn van Rossum 17). Not only does a clock keep track of time, it signifies the need for the human race to organize and control their surroundings, as it has been from the first encounter between technology and the human race. The technology of a clock is simple yet varied. The clock s shell is usually made out of brass, copper, tin or zinc. After the shell is molded the components of the clock are assembled; significant working parts including the face, arms, power source, gear train, escapement, wheels, mainspring, pendulum and quartz are all ... • 10. Lewis Alan Reed s Life And Work Lewis Alan Reed was born on March 2, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. In Freeport, Long Island Reed grew up with his Jewish family (Lou). Early on Reed expressed an interest in music. During his high school career he played guitar in many bands. Reed went through electric shock therapy, during high school days, to try to cure him from bisexuality (Lou). After Reed graduated from high school he attended Syracuse University to study poetry and journalism. Many of Lou s poems were published in Fusion magazine, and in 1977 the Coordinating Council of Literary Magazine gave Reed an award for his poem The Slide (Simon). Reed then went back to New York and got a job at Pickwick Records, where he helped a studio band with the songs that he wrote. During his time at Pickwick Records he met John Cale whom he formed the band Primitives, which further on became known as Warlocks. After recording one record Cale and Reed enlisted Sterling Morrison, a guitarist, and Moe Tucker, a drummer, to make up the Velvet Underground. From 1966 to 1970 Velvet Underground recorded four albums, but Lou Reed did not stay to complete the last album (Simon). In 1972 Reed moved to England and began his solo career. The novel examines the narrator s dynamic character through the changes he experiences by reading banned Western novels. With an imperious wave of his conductors baton he would tell me which way to go... The novel Jean Christophe has certainly affected the narrator greatly. The narrator has become so attached to the protagonist of this novel that he even questions his own emotional state. Napping is helpful to humans, but sleeping is essential to us, however even though napping is optional it is still along with sleeping important. Sleeping and Napping are very beneficial to human beings. Eventually, Bad sleep habits and long term sleep loss will add up and will start to negatively affect your health. If you routinely lose sleep or choose to sleep less than needed, the sleep loss adds up (Source 1, Paragraph 2). Not getting enough sleep will always add up even if you only miss an hour a day that will still add up to seven hours every week and therefore this can cause substantial sleep debt that can t be paid back because you can only sleep at a certain time your biological clock allows. With sleep being a prerequisite for human life and needed to live. Thus, you will not be able to pay back the sleep debt causing your wellbeing to be negatively impacted and will ultimately hurt you. Professional Sports And The Civil Era Professional sports were segregated in the United States, just like the rest of the country was during the 1940s, but between the cooperation of two men the color barrier was broken in professional sports. The unwritten rule of not allowing blacks to play professional baseball had been standing since the 1880s. No professional sport in America at the time had any participating African Americans, yet many African Americans were participating in the Olympics. Famous African American olympians, such as Jesse Owens and John Taylor, were highly celebrated for their accomplishments, yet no change was made within the professional sports world. Robinson was not the first attempt at breaking the color barrier in professional sports but Branch Rickey, the President and GM of the Dodgers, felt he was the one to complete the transformation. The African Americans in the United States were still playing baseball beyond college at this time, but in their own collection of leagues called the Negro Major Leagues. African Americans were able to play in some of the integrated colleges around the country but the integration ended there. They were allowed to play in Major League Baseball but it just did not happen, the MLB commissioner of the time Judge Landis said, there was no rule on the books prohibiting a black man from joining a major league team. There has to be some chance criterion that should be established. This is generally a fairly straight forward function of the classifications that is used in the model and of the sample size. The authors then suggest the criterion that the classification accuracy or the hit ratio must be at least twenty five percent greater than by chance. Other test can be to use a test of proportions to examine for the significance between the obtained hit ratio proportion and the chance criterion proportion . 6. • 35. Ohio Adverse Possession Laws Case Summary On January 1, 2008, four lawsuits involving Brad Pitt were filed in Ohio. The first was brought by Matt Damon against Brad Pitt to acquire quiet title to one acre of Brad s land that Matt had cleared and built a barn on. Looking into quiet titles and adverse possession laws will determine if Matt can get title to the land or not. The second case involves Snazzy Jeff, a paparazzo, seeing Maddox, Brad s son, dropped his Pokémon camera. Snazzy Jeff then came up and took the item hoping to find pictures to sell on it without informing Brad or Maddox. This may be a case of lost property or theft that needs to be evaluated. The third case involves Brad suing Jackie Philabaum at the request of his wife. At the parade, Brad took off his coat and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To acquire a quiet title to the land Matt Damon only needs 21 of those years. According to Ohio law, the person wanting to obtain title from adverse possession must have possessed the property for 21 years without the permission of the owner, but in clear knowledge of the owner ( Ohio Adverse Possession Laws ). There are four requirements listed to obtain a quiet title starting with using the land without permission of the owner. Then they must treat the land as their own, use the land in an obvious way and for a continuous period of time without sharing with others ( Ohio Adverse Possession Laws ). Matt Daman easily completes all four of these requirements. He never asked Brad for permission to clear the land and build a barn on Brad s land, but did. Brad repeatedly visited and inspected the property in 1986, 1996, and 2002, seeing the barn but never saying anything to Matt. Matt appears to have also used the land for a continuous period totaling 21 years before requesting title to the one acre of land. Brad may have a defense if he had talked to Matt at any time about the property and can prove it, but it will be a hard case to win for him. Matt will win this case for a quiet title to the one acre of land with his barn on it because of the time that had passed with no objection or other claims of possession by Brad. • 36. Pros And Cons Of A Written Constitution What is Constitution? A constitution can be defined as being a body of rules which regulates the system of government within a state. It establishes the bodies and institutions which form part of that system.it provides the powers which they are to exercise, it determines how they are to interact and coexist with one another and, perhaps most importantly of all. It is concerned with the relationship between government and the individual. (Parpworth). DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WRITTEN AND UNWRITTEN A written constitution is one contained within a single document or a series of documents, with or without amendments, defining the basic rules of the state. More recent written constitutions derive from the grant or devolution of legislative power from previously imperial powers to former colonies and dominions, whether secured as a result of peaceful settlement or violent revolution. . A written constitution is generally rigid and a procedure separate from that of enacting ordinary law is provided for its amendment or revision. In other words a distinction between constitutional law and ordinary law is maintained. The first is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Taking a Look at Hydras and Flatworms PART 1: Q 1. Hydra can move from one place to another by flexing the body and gripping the substrate with the tentacles and then looping the body over the mouth to gain a new position. Explain exactly what mechanisms and principles are involved in this movement? The full answer to this question involves the hydrostatic skeleton formed by the gastrovascular cavity and contractile cells. [5 6 sentences] The movement of hydra is called looping/somersaulting. This movement is possible due to the presence of a hydrostatic skeleton. This fluid filled chamber can be bent and moulded into different shapes. When the muscle cells (longitudinal and circular) contract, hydrostatic fluid from the gastro vascular cavity (GVC) is squeezed in a certain direction (depending on type of muscle cell). The contraction of longitudinal muscles cells leads to hydrostatic fluid from the GVC in an outwards and downwards direction, this makes the hydra seem compressed. When the circular muscle cells contract (squeezing the GVC from the sides) the hydrostatic liquid is forced in an upwards manner, this in turn elongates the hydra. A combination of elongation and compression allows itself to somersault itself to a new position. Q 2. What reasons can you think of that might limit this type of body form to aquatic systems? [5 6 sentences] Being a freshwater dwelling organism, the obvious source of the hydrostatic fluid in the gastro vascular cavity for the hydra is from its surroundings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The market for farm produce is volatile, reflecting changes in climate as well as market trends. As such it is often difficult to predict harvest yields. Overproduction in 2000 resulted in the price of raw cranberries falling from over $60 a barrel to under $20. Atlantic Quench responded to the volatile market by reducing its advertising and marketing budget. In addition to cutting back on expenditure, the co operative paid the farmers $12 a barrel instead of the $18 a barrell market price. As a result the relationship between the management of the co operative and the farmers deteriorated, and the farmers exercised their power as shareholders of the co operative by voting out four successive Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) between 2000 and 2003.
  • 40. When Chuck Berrie was appointed CEO in 2003, his immediate priority was to discuss with the farmers whether or not a co operative approach to managing the business was still an appropriate and preferred option. The CEO had previously spent six years working for another co operative as Chief Marketing Officer at Welch Foods Inc. During those six years he had contributed to doubling the market share of the organisation. According to Berrie, The beauty of being a co op is not being judged by quarterly results, but by generations passing on to the next generation. Indeed, many Atlantic Quench farmers are third and fourth generation owners and one is seventh generation. Berrie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
