The Dark Age Of The Dark Ages
What is the first thing you think about when I say dark age? Is it chaos? Disease? Poverty? Death?
Well, you re on the right track. A dark age meant that there was very little culture, was repeatedly
invaded, had no government and a bad economy, and of course, a miserable place to live. It was
between 400 and 1400 AD in Europe, that was supposed to be called a dark age. While most of that
did happen in Europe, it s not entirely barbaric. In fact, around the end of that time period, many
things that were taken from Europe was restored. Art and education were restored around the 14th
century. Food and technology were improved around that time period as well. Even laws were restored
back in order so that society could be stable. So yes, I do believe that what you call a dark age, wasn t
really dark because food access and farmland was restored with the add on of having clever
contraptions to support the labor around the farm work, the government was strong enough to make
certain laws, and innovations were being advanced. One of the reasons why Europe in the 400 to 1400
wasn t a dark age is how there was access to enough food, tools, and farmland. One piece of evidence
that shows that farmland and food were available is in a textbook called, World History Before 1600:
The Development of Early Civilization. One excerpt states, From 1000 to 1300, the economy of
Europe developed and prospered. Available farmland tripled, and the food supply increased notably

Company Infrastructure
Abstract
There are certain benefits in having a well set up and thought out infrastructure within a company.
However when setting up an infrastructure or changing an existing infrastructure there are a number of
things a company should conceder in order to end up with the infrastructure that best works for them
and their company.
Business infrastructures usually consist of booth LAN and WAN area networks. Businesses will use a
LAN to connect network devices over a short distance, such as an office building or school.
Occasionally one building will contain a few small LANs, and sometimes a LAN will span a group of
nearby buildings. LANs are usually owned, controlled, and managed by a single person or ... Show

WAN networks basically connect two or more LAN networks (Woodcock, 1999). There for a
company can benefit from using a WAN network when they have offices in different cities, states, or
countries. It is important for a business to understand how they plan on using LAN and WAN
networks when designing an infrastructure that will work best for them. A business infrastructure is
generally made up of the processes, procedures, and systems within a company. And if a company is
to maintain a competitive edge and stay a step or two ahead of its competitors, it will need to have and
maintain a solid infrastructure. When a company has a solid infrastructure they are more likely to see
an ongoing improvement with the efficiency of their employees (Hughes Kaplan, 2009). This is
because a solid infrastructure allows employees to better communicate and work more effectively. In
order for a company to create or build an infrastructure that will work best for them, there are a few
things in which they should address. One thing they should do is to consult with outside resources and
customers as well as employees in order to determine what type of infrastructure will best address
their company s needs. The company should be sure to define how they would like the infrastructure
to help them in achieving their goals. Find out what it is that their customers need from the business
infrastructure, along with what their employees and management will need for the

Social Injustice In Bergen County
Education Level
In Bergen County, there are 78 school districts and three charter schools ( At a Glance , 2016, p. 9).
The education level in Bergen County is relatively higher than in other counties in New Jersey. In
2014, around 28.9 percent of the population ages 25 and older have a bachelor s degree. Meanwhile,
around 25 percent are high school graduates ( Educational Attainment , n.d., p. 1 2).
Housing
As stated earlier, Bergen County is a relatively wealthy county. Being that the income level in Bergen
County is high, it is no wonder that the housing costs will be high too. In 2014, about 43.6 percent of
the monthly housing costs average around $2,000 or more ( Financial Characteristics , n.d., p. 1). This

shelter at the Bergen County Shelter. Many factors cause homelessness like unemployment, lack of
affordable housing, no access to social services, mental health or substance abuse issues, etc.

Essay About Fiestas
Fiestas are best in the Philippines because people has the sense unity and it reflects their beliefs.
Filipinos love fiestas. Here in our country, Philippines, we can witness different festivals in each and
every corner of our region. However, even Fiestas look as if our own, these have originally come from
Spaniards. When Spanish missionaries entered the Philippines during the mid 1500s, they found that
the fiesta was a convenient tool to help teach Filipinos the Roman Catholic faith. That is why, in the
Philippines and many other former Spanish colonies, the Spanish word fiesta is used to denote a
communal religious feast to honor a patron saint (Wikipedia, n.d). The Philippines have adapted this
and it is now part of our culture and tradition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not regret their decision for choosing the Philippines because their experience is guaranteed to be

live bands or karaokes set under the tents, the laughs shared by everyone and the indefinite stories

makes our country stands out among other nations. While there are thousands of fiestas around the

Mead Hall In Beowulf
The mead hall was a major factor in the Anglo Saxon culture. As the two tribes, Angles and Saxons
joined together, they carried on their traditions of mead halls and brought them to England. The mead

culture when they gathered there. It acted as a safe haven for them to gather and celebrate, drink, and

Hrothgar rewards Beowulf and his warriors with gold treasures to celebrate their victorious battles and
accomplishments. The queen, Wealhtheow, bestows Beowulf with the golden cup along with a gold
necklace and armband. During the feast, Hrothgar gives his warriors gold treasures from his treasure
chest as an act of gratitude. In their culture, gold represents honor and most would do anything for it.
Gold is represented and displayed in Beowulf on the skin of Grendel, Grendel s mother, and the
dragon. It is also incorporated in the treasures. The dragon guards it his entire life, and it is the mission
of many, including Beowulf to slay the dragon to get the treasures he is protecting. The moments
before Beowulf dies, he asks Wiglaf to get him some of the dragon s gold so that his last sight could
be what he was fighting for. Treasures were also placed on Beowulf s funeral pyre. Grendel s arm and
the sword was another treasure that Beowulf earned. Because Beowulf killed Grendel by ripping off
his arm, Beowulf hung the arm to show and display in Heorot Hall; the sword was his weapon that he
took to try to defeat Grendel s mother. Grendel s arm showed his bravery and loyalty to his lord and
his men. He showed by example to his men that it takes courage and honor to fight for your life for
what you believe is right. When scops tell the story of Beowulf, it is an honor to him for the

Hamlet Film Vs Film Essay
Over the course of the past fifty years there have been many cinematic productions of Shakespeare s
Hamlet, some of which remain true to the text while others take greater liberties with the original
format. Director Kenneth Branagh s 1996 production of Hamlet was true to Shakespeare s work in that
the film s dialogue was delivered word or word as it is presented in the text. In contrast, Franco
Zeffirelli conducted his 1990 production of Hamlet in a much more liberal direction in which lines,
scenes and characters were omitted from the film. I argue that from the perspective of an individual
with moderate knowledge in Shakespearian literature, that the best film versions of Hamlet are those
that take the most liberties from the text. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the first and the third of the aforementioned changes that Zeffirelli made to the film have a minor
impact on the audience s understanding of the underlying themes that exist throughout the play.
In act 3 scene 3 Claudius performs his soliloquy which acts like a window into the true nature of
Claudius guilt. This excerpt of the play is the first time we encounter Claudius confess blame for the
crime against his brother. This self confession further demonstrates the guilt that Claudius exhibits in
act 3 scene 2 when Claudius flees the theater after Hamlet arranges a play reenacting the events of his
father s murder. As Claudius states on line 56, May one be pardoned and retain th offense? This line
depicts the true nature of Claudius guilt: He does not regret his actions, for his actions have granted
him My crown, mine own ambition and my queen. (3.2.55) Claudius is content with his gains, his
only guilt stems from the fact that he believes he will not go to heaven because of his actions.
Zeffirelli as opposed to Branagh shortens this soliloquy which causes a loss of perception into the
complex role that guilt plays throughout the story.
Like the presence of the theme of guilt, the film also neglects the theme of war. The character of
Fortinbras is important because his invasion of Poland brings forth the literal act of war, which is a

Working Memory Experiment
Working memory is defined as memory that is involved in our everyday tasks. It is the active and
temporary representation of information that is maintained for the short term in one s mind to help
decide what to do next (Gluck, 344). Working memory is a very pivotal part of our lives, because it is
this memory that helps us stay on our feets. Working memory works in different ways with every
individual. It has its own processes and there are significant working memory differences in every age
group from younger adults to older adults. This memory can also be called short term memory. This

The response from Karen Frank regarding medical information that she shared was that when printing

Rock guitarists are turned into icons, legends, and heros for music lovers. They influence many kids
and adults to pick up the guitar and spend countless hours trying to replicate their favorite player.
Guitar solos can help compliment the song and make the listener keep coming back for that 30 to 60
seconds of destruction. This is what makes guitar players so important and essential in a rock band
and many times they become the main figure. The best players have developed their own styles and
sounds that are unique to them. This is what makes playing so extraordinary, the artists sound different
from one another. This is crucial to keep in mind while learning because a lot of the time this diversity
gets lost.

Tom Morello can play lightning fast solo s but his preference is a much more simpler approach. He
studied DJ s instead of guitar players to create a new unique sound. His solo s are based on weird
outer space sounds that don t sound like like a guitar. He achieves this by using lots of guitar effects
and pedals. The most common of his effects are the octave up and the kill switch. On lots of his solos
he will turn on an octave pedal which means an octave up will be additionally added to whatever he is
playing in that moment. These solos will consist of two or more octaves giving him a unique sparkly
sound. Tom Morello will often use a kill switch in his playing meaning whenever the switch is
engaged it cuts the sound. He has created a very unique style with this switch, he is able to sustain a
note with his left hand while cutting it in and out with his right. This gives him a very rhythmic style
which adds to his own

A Study On Skipper, A Hunting Dog
Skipper is a four year old neutered male American foxhound. He weighs 55 pounds and is considered
a 3 of 5 on the body condition score (BCS) scale. His owner is preparing to take him on a two week
hunting trip and wants to know if he should change Skip s feeding program. During the trip Skipper
will be working intensely for six to eight hours each day. His current food contains 3.0 Kcal ME/g,
22% protein, and 15% fat. The following is a case study on Skipper, a hunting dog. His body weight is
ideal for his age and lifestyle, however, an increase in strenuous activity may require a higher caloric
intake during the time frame of the activity. Energy dense foods are classified as the amount of energy

Formal Analysis
The painting that I chose to write my formal analysis on is called The Café Terrace on the Place du
Forum, Arles, At Night . This piece was created by Vincent Van Gogh in Arles, France and was
completed sometime in September of 1888. This painting is oil on canvas, and it is currently housed in
the Kroller Muller Museum located in Otterlo, The Netherlands in Europe. This painting depicts a
sidewalk café in France at night. There is a doorway to the front left of the painting that is painted
blue, and is surrounded by a wall that gleams yellow from the outdoor lights. Attached to the wall,
there is a large awning, and it covers the diners and the empty tables that are a part of the café. Above
the awning, there are open window shutters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Color is highly evident in this painting, and helps to draw the viewer s eye to certain places in the
painting. The café is yellow, and adds a boisterous feeling to that section of the piece. The yellow light
spills onto the street and walls of the town, creating bright colors and drawing the eye. The sky and
town use dark colors to illustrate nighttime, although the bright spots of the stars cause the viewer to
look to the sky. The next art element that is demonstrated in this painting is time and motion. The
think strokes of the leaves on the tree make it looks as though a wind is blowing through the streets of
France. The pedestrians in the street demonstrate an element of time and motion because they appear
to have been caught mid stride on the way to their destinations. The server in the café, as well as his
customers, show motion because they are moving and having conversations amongst themselves.
Texture and pattern are very easy to identify in this painting. The street s cobblestones show texture
and pattern in the way that they are arranged. Texture is also demonstrated through the paint strokes
on the buildings, the tree, and even the sky. These thick, uneven strokes add a layer of depth and
texture to all elements of the painting. The final element in The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum,
Arles, At Night that demonstrates time is the stars and darkness that represent nighttime. The deep
colors in the background, compared with the

I strongly believe that we should admire Chris for his courage and noble ideas because he did
something that nobody would do, he went into the wilderness by himself. I admire Chris for being so
brave because I know I wouldn t be able to go into the wilderness alone. I believe Chris was trying to
do something good for himself, he was finally putting himself first.
In the author s note Krakauer stated, He changed his name, gave the entire balance of a twenty four
thousand dollar savings account to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all
the cash in his wallet. And then invented a new life for himself (pg. 1). You need to be very
courageous to donate your entire savings account to charity, leave all your possessions behind and
leave behind all your friends and family. People are always afraid of trying something new, but Chris
wasn t he demonstrated his braveness going into the Alaskan wilderness.
Other s argue that Chris was selfish because he didn t contact his parents or sister, but you have to
understand where Chris was coming from, he felt hurt and betrayed of course he was going to want his

Social Justice In The Gospel Of Luke

Social Justice in the Gospel of Luke
When reading through the book of Luke, specifically Luke 4:16 30 social justice comes front and
center almost immediately as Jesus is handed a scroll of the book of Isaiah. Jesus, not being one to shy
away from teaching, read this book out loud and brought focus to an issue that many of us face today.
The question of who is the Gospel for? Who are we as Christians, meant to share the good news with?
Socially are we supposed to go outside of our comfort zones to reach those who, the Church or
Society has deemed as un teachable? This is what we will be looking at in this paper.
Who is the Gospel for? As you read through Luke 4:16 30 and get to verse 18 you see the Jesus is
reading from the Book of Isaiah, specifically Isaiah 61:1 which says, The Spirit of the Lord God is
upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to
bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; (Isaiah 61:1, New
American Standard Bible). Jesus very clearly is telling all those who are listening to him in the
synagogue that they are too take the message of God out to all people. They are to specifically, teach
the Word of God to those who are hurt, who have found themselves in times of trouble. But how does
this tie into social justice? First let s look at what social justice

Abstract
Having fixed term Parliaments in the United Kingdom is something that has been debated across the
political spectrum for some years and, with the enactment of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011, is
no longer something which is merely debated, but a political and constitutional reality. The Act came
into force with little consultation, research, or advice to or by the Government; it was exceptionally
hurried legislation. This means that there is little written on the wider constitutional effects of the Act,
and it is exactly that which this essay will try to examine.
To analyse the Act s significance I have looked at the position prior to the Act and what the Act
changed, before moving on to examining and critically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be done with a vote of a two thirds majority in the House of Commons to call such an

Government, with a simple majority in the House of Commons. Fourteen days after such a
declaration, if there has not been a vote of confidence in the Government, then an early general
election will take place.9

Arguments in favour of fixed term Parliaments being significant:
The first argument that these changes are constitutionally significant is simple; it is the codification of
a royal prerogative, pragmatically wielded solely by the Prime Minister, into a power for the
legislature as a whole. It is a rebalancing of power within the British Constitution. When talking about
this power Leyland said the Royal Prerogative to dissolve Parliament on the advice of the Prime
Minister was regarded as a core feature of the constitution ,10 from this then, we can surmise that the
loss of this power is constitutionally significant.
It also represents something

Psychoanalytic Techniques In Tim Burton s Films
Tim Burton Stylistic Essay
Tim Burton is a director that uses an excellent assortment of stylistic techniques. Many authors and
directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable
when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the
man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland, and The Nightmare
Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic
techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as
costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or

Edward Scissorhands, when you first see Edward you notice his pale white skin and the ghostly dark
circles under his doe eyes. If it weren t for Edward s doe brown eyes, you would have assumed he was
dead. All of these characteristics, except for the doe eyes, make the characters in Tim Burton s films

child like innocence that expresses the main tone in this movie. You will recognize some of these same
characteristics in Alice In Wonderland. In this movie, everyone in the real world is white, pale, blonde

Functionalism And The Inverted Spectrum
Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each
distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies,
and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble
as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday
lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative
features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms
these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type
them in phenomenological respects .
The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted
spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia.
Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By
identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative
aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to
functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to
functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about
qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over

Synthesis And Biological Use As Potential Anticancer Agents
Norcantharidin and analogues: synthesis and biological use as potential anticancer agents
Norcantharidin (NCTD), the demethylated analogue of cantharidin, has been used to treat human
cancers in China since 1984. It was recently found to be capable of inducing apoptosis in human colon
carcinoma, hepatoma and glioblastoma cells by way of an elusive mechanism.1 Norcantatharidins and
their analogues are synthetic anticancer agents which have been used in various different procedures
for the inducing growth arrest and apoptosis of tumour cells and also provide therapeutic and adjuvant
therapeutic applications in the treatment of cancer agents.2 This report will discuss the various
different NCTD that are currently being studied, highlighting the synthesis of these NCTD and their
various biological pathways that are taken in order to inhibit the growth of the correspondent cancer
cell. In particular NCTD induced apoptosis of the hepatoma cells will be considered and also
highlighting the different views with the synthesis of the particular NCTD and also the effectiveness
of the methodology and its observations in response to other NCTD and their mechanism in attacking
the hepatoma cell site.
One study by Shuijun Zhanga et al had shown the ABT 737 induced apoptosis of hepatocellular
carcinoma cells (HCC) by the transcriptional repression of Myeloid cell leukemia 1 (Mcl 1). Shuijun

Motivation And Theory Of Motivation
It is suggested by psychologists that motivation can be understood as a technique that works as a
model that starts and maintains behaviours. The reason we all act or do something is caused by
motivation; it is related to the emotions, biology and the social factors that influence behaviour. It is
usually a term used to explain why an individual will do something, the reasons behind that action.
Moreover, The term motivation refers to factors that activate, direct, and sustain goal directed
behaviour motives are the whys of behaviour (Nevid, 2013).
This coursework will explain what motivation is, what the psychological theories are and how is that
crucial in explaining people s behaviour at the work place. Firstly, an in depth explanation of what is
motivation will be written, then the arguments for and against of the process theories of motivation.
Finally, descriptions on how useful these theories are to predict behaviour in companies. There are
four factors of motivation; that are intrinsic motivation, it incorporates following: goal, tool, situation
and temperament. Goal is related to attitude and behaviour. Tool, on the other hand, is what is used to
reach that goal. Situations are the external environment and the position you find yourself into. Finally
Temperament is your state (internally).

The Woman s Body
In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a bedroom
in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit, and her right
leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be full of shock,
disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her right arm is raised,
almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for this . In the lower left area
of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is pointed towards: broken eggs on a
silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and self harm, respectively (DAI). The
motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes she is wearing, and the iconographic
items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman who was raped. According to the didactic,
Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the
king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his
banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably
because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with.
Interestingly, the dagger in the painting is not bloody and Sextus is not present, although this appeared
to have happened right after the rape. Therefore, it makes sense

Analyzing The Song Good Riddance By Billie Joe Armstrong
Good Riddance by Green Day is my theme for my eighth grade year. This song was written by Billie
Joe Armstrong for the album Nimrod in 1997.
In the album recording of the song Billie messes up the opening chord progression twice before saying
a quiet explicative and playing the song correctly. The first couple weeks were pretty rough for me and
I often messed up or did things that I later regretted. This song is often played at graduations and
weddings, but this was not the intention of Billie Joe when he wrote the piece. Billie wrote it about a
breakup and his lyrics and style of the song is meant to be sarcastic and bitter. Unfortunately most

British Colonies And The British Empire
Through the eyes of Great Britain, the colonies served as an area of nearly limitless raw materials that
were unavailable in Europe and as an area that could serve as a market for English goods and textiles.
Although the American colonies conducted a large amount of their trade with the British Empire, they
soon began to realize that they could obtain the goods that they desired for less if they decided to trade
with other countries. The colonies were known to import large quantities of goods from Europe
because most of the commodities that were essential to their current lifestyles were only produced
overseas in Europe. This heavy reliance on certain goods eventually allowed the British to institute a
monopoly on certain textiles, foods, and other commodities. However, tensions began to rise
following the realization by the British that the colonies had begun to conduct trade with countries
other than themselves. This discovery inadvertently prompted Parliament to introduce the Navigation
Acts which imposed strict regulations and laws upon trade and further outlined how the colonies were
to conduct trade between themselves and the British Empire. However, unbeknownst to the British,
these laws served as the catalyst that allowed the practice of smuggling and piracy to take hold within
the colonies and these activities soon became a very lucrative business for all of those involved.
Furthermore, the establishment of these acts unknowingly led to a recession that

The Opening Line Of The Middle Of Things
In the opening chapter of Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy uses the technique of in medias res, which
translates from Latin to in the middle of things , to establish the central themes of his novel. The
opening line of the book serves as somewhat of a thesis statement for the seven hundred pages that
follow that is, Tolstoy asserts the unique nature of unhappy families to preface a book about several
strained familial relationships. In the next sentence, Tolstoy establishes the novel s chaotic tone,
describing everything in the Oblonskys household as being upset . The rest of the paragraph features a
series of syntactically similar sentences in the past perfect tense that discuss, in a methodical way, the
causes and effects of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, in the third paragraph, the reader is introduced to the first character, Stiva, whom they are told
is a prince. Tolstoy uses luxurious diction to demonstrate Stiva s lifestyle, referencing his morocco
leather covered sofa and his plump, well kept body . At the point the reader is introduced to Stiva, he
has had a sudden awakening. The authorial voice then switches from that of an omniscient third
person to the conscious thoughts of Stiva Oblonsky. In this manner, the paragraph is very similar to
the stream of consciousness style that would become so important during early twentieth century
literary movements. In doing this, Tolstoy both allows us the same incomplete impression of Stiva s
dream that Stiva has, and ties the dream with the light, surreal sentiment it evokes in Stiva. This
technique also plays with the themes of memory and perception that were so integral to Tolstoy s early
works. The dream features a party with fantastic imagery of singing glass tables and little decanters
that [are] also women . This fantasy party is set in America, about as far from Petersburg as possible,
which points to a pervading tendency for escapism in the Russian nobility at this time of social
upheaval. Indeed, at several points in the novel, characters flee Russia when met with adversity, as
when Kitty gets sick and Anna reconnects with Vronsky.

Henry V Theme Of War
Known as one of the greatest warrior kings in all of English history, Henry V has left a hefty
impression. In Shakespeare s play of the same name, the monarch battles literally with France for the
throne and figuratively with accountability and being a just ruler and conqueror. Through the story, we
can see the values Henry holds and how the real implications of war aren t something the king cannot
deal with in a proper manner. The debate between King Henry and the common soldiers like Williams
and Bates illustrate fundamental problems with Henry s rule and asks important questions about the
motives behind war itself. In Act 4, Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Henry V, the king does incognito in a

He ignores the responsibility of the king for putting all these lives in danger. He denies the fault of the
king for waging the war, and instead deflects the blame onto the will of God. Basically, his response to
the soldiers is that they must be spiritually prepared when they go into battle because the king is not
responsible for their deaths. This is a believe that is horribly ignorant and unfair to the people who
might actually lose their lives. When the king conquers the French port on the mouth of the Seine, he
insults them and states that God is on their side. Eventually, he implies that the French should feel
badly for being responsible for the death of their many citizens at the hands of English. However, the
same doesn t apply for himself when he could be leading his men to their deaths. This might be
because he thinks God s favor lies with England but it is of course foolish and hypocritical to believe
this. Using religion as a shield is a method Henry uses throughout the play, stating the kingdom of
England has God on their side on multiple occasions. This aversion of guilt continually demonstrates
Henry s doubt in himself and fragile

evaluating the environment or the opportunities to commit the fraud and looking at the justifications to

The American Music Therapy Association
The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) defines music therapy as an established health
profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional,
cognitive, and social needs of individuals . Studies have shown that there are clear benefits from
listening to or playing music, but research over the last decade proves music can be used to heal in the
medical field. Dementia and other neurological disorders have no cure, only treatments to lessen the
symptoms. Music therapy offers a cost effective and less invasive form of treatment that focuses on
the individuals needs and goals. Music therapy is also a more creative and personalized form of
treatment. This paper will provide evidence to answer the question: Are dementia and other
neurological disorders improved through music therapy?
In this publication, Matthews focuses on the effects of music therapy on dementia patients. He hones
in on a case that was featured in the documentary Alive Inside . Henry, an elderly man with late stage
dementia is given the chance to listen to some music. The music therapist plays his favorite artist, Cab
Calloway and Henry begins to light up, move and remember feelings he had when he was younger
and heard that song. The music therapy didn t restore what was lost but it was able to have positive
effects even after the song stopped. It awakened parts of his brain that may have been dormant and
music helped him bring back old memories. Matthews

Reinstating the Military Draft Essay
When you enjoy the freedoms you have living in the United States, you can thank those men and
women who serve in the armed forces. But in recent years, our armed forces have seen a decline in
enlistments, which has reignited and old debate. Should we reinstate the Military Draft? This one
question has sparked a debate nationwide, between friends, family, and even perfect strangers.
Reinstating the draft is just one way to ensure people can continue to enjoy those freedoms the armed
forces have fought for over the years. With all the controversy surrounding mandatory military
service, past and recent incidents have shown a greater need to protect ourselves from those who wish
to do us harm. Continued decline in enlistment, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not the truth at all. Mandatory service will provide those who serve many different types of
opportunities. Each man and woman, who serves in the military, no matter what branch, has the
opportunity to choose their field of work, or receive advanced training in an area they wish to pursue
in the civilian world after their enlistment. Furthermore, they may even be able to choose which state
they would live in while serving in the armed forces. This does not sound like slavery or even forced
slavery, this sounds more like an opportunity to receive training and other necessary qualities
companies and organizations are looking for in the civilian workforce. When looking at the whole
picture, and deciding the pro s and con s of the military draft I have one final are for you to look at.
Currently our armed forces are voluntary and do not accurately represent the American population.
With the ideal draft system in place, it will allow for individuals from all aspects of society to
represent and provide their service to our country. Along with proper representation, the military cost
would be lowered. Although the armed forces would have to pay individuals more and the additional
cost of food, equipment, and other essential needs would go up the, the cost of recruiting, advertising
and additional benefits to lure persons into the recruiting

Intervention For Smoking Cessation Of Smoking
Intervention for Smoking Cessation
The most important intervention for this patient is to quit smoking. This would be very difficult for a
person who smoke for more than 20 years to quit. I would explain to the patient that the best way to
treat her emphysema is to stop smoking. First of all, I will assess on what this patient knows about
smoking cessation. Some smokers may not have a correct information and positive attitude about quit
smoking, which could be the reasons that contribute to the failure of previous attempts of quitting. I
would explain to her that tobacco smoking is responsible for 90 percent of all cases of COPD,
including emphysema (MacGill, 2015). Normally, when particles enter the lung, these particles lands
on a thin layer of mucus inside the lungs. The little hairs, called cilia, help to move mucus and the
particles from the lungs upward toward the throat. This process allows the mucus to be expelled or
swallowed (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Coughing is another way the lungs protect themselves
from irritants in bronchial tubes (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Inhalation of smoke, over times,
will destroy cilia, and they no longer remove mucus effectively. Subsequently, mucus accumulates
inside the lungs causing irritation and coughing (American Thoracic Society, 2015). The most
effective way to stop coughing is to stop smoking.
I would also point out that the patient is developing a condition called Leukoplakia as evidence by

Language And Culture In Ken Wiwa s Get Beyond Babel
Ken Wiwa presents several ideas pertaining to language and culture within his essay, Get Beyond
Babel. Wiwa explains that every language has a chance of dying out over time. For any language to
survive through years of societal changes, it must be adapted so it can be used to embrace other
cultures, new technology and new perspectives. Wiwa presents the concept that language is the same
as culture. I do not agree with this concept because I believe that culture is carried by the people, not
by the language.
Wiwa uses the idea that languages never die if they are always taking concepts from other languages.
My parents mother tongue is a prime example of countering the statement. My parents were both born
in Sri Lanka and spoke Tamil as they grew up, which is a language that has been around for over 2000
years. It is a language that was primarily used in South Asia, but has grown. The language of Tamil
did not always have to adopt terms from other languages to expand. Over 100 million people today
continue to speak the language. As a language, Anglo Saxon, or Old English, was very different from
modern English, similarly to Tamil. However, Tamil is a language that has been able to thrive on its
own. Tamil counters Wiwa s idea that languages absorb other dialects to survive. In fact, in South
Asia, it is the other way around and dialects in Sri Lanka must adopt the Tamil language to stay
relevant. The language of Tamil did not become extinct or endangered because of the

The Advantage And Disadvantages Of Pyrometer
Pyrometer is a touch less type temperature measuring device. In other words, pyrometer is a
transducer that makes use of the visible or invisible radiation emitted by an object to determine its
temperature without any physical contact with it. It is used to measure the surface temperatures of
very hot objects like furnaces and distant objects without actually being in contact with it. It intercepts
and measures the thermal radiation emitted by the object, a process called pyrometry. The word
pyrometer originated from the Greek word for fire, πυρ (pyro) and meter meaning to measure. Due to
its speed, accuracy, specific advantages and economy, pyrometer is gaining acceptance in new fields.
HISTORY
Originally pyrometry was a strictly visual measuring method. In early times the experienced
blacksmiths and steel workers could predict the metal s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it is not useful for obtaining continuous values of temperature at small intervals. It also depends
on the skill of the user. ADVANTAGES
Pyrometers are widely used these days due the following advantages:
1) Fast response time Pyrometers have very short response time. In the case of normal thermometers
,the probe must first reach the same temperature of the object and this takes time due to thermal
conduction. But in the case of pyrometers, the radiation is being measured and the temperature is
shown.
2) Affect on temperature and material As an optical pyrometer uses a portion of the energy radiated by
the target object, it does not affect the temperature of the target in the act of measuring .Also the life of
contact free measuring devices is more in comparison to the thermo elements as the latter gets
damaged due to wear and tear.
3) Measuring moving objects Due to its short response time, pyrometers can be used to measure the
temperature of fast moving

The Dark AgeOf The Dark Ages What is the first thing you think about when I say dark age? Is it chaos? Disease? Poverty? Death? Well, you re on the right track. A dark age meant that there was very little culture, was repeatedly invaded, had no government and a bad economy, and of course, a miserable place to live. It was between 400 and 1400 AD in Europe, that was supposed to be called a dark age. While most of that did happen in Europe, it s not entirely barbaric. In fact, around the end of that time period, many things that were taken from Europe was restored. Art and education were restored around the 14th century. Food and technology were improved around that time period as well. Even laws were restored back in order so that society could be stable. So yes, I do believe that what you call a dark age, wasn t really dark because food access and farmland was restored with the add on of having clever contraptions to support the labor around the farm work, the government was strong enough to make certain laws, and innovations were being advanced. One of the reasons why Europe in the 400 to 1400 wasn t a dark age is how there was access to enough food, tools, and farmland. One piece of evidence that shows that farmland and food were available is in a textbook called, World History Before 1600: The Development of Early Civilization. One excerpt states, From 1000 to 1300, the economy of Europe developed and prospered. Available farmland tripled, and the food supply increased notably (Doc B). Also, ... Company Infrastructure Abstract There arecertain benefits in having a well set up and thought out infrastructure within a company. However when setting up an infrastructure or changing an existing infrastructure there are a number of things a company should conceder in order to end up with the infrastructure that best works for them and their company. Business infrastructures usually consist of booth LAN and WAN area networks. Businesses will use a LAN to connect network devices over a short distance, such as an office building or school. Occasionally one building will contain a few small LANs, and sometimes a LAN will span a group of nearby buildings. LANs are usually owned, controlled, and managed by a single person or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WAN networks basically connect two or more LAN networks (Woodcock, 1999). There for a company can benefit from using a WAN network when they have offices in different cities, states, or countries. It is important for a business to understand how they plan on using LAN and WAN networks when designing an infrastructure that will work best for them. A business infrastructure is generally made up of the processes, procedures, and systems within a company. And if a company is to maintain a competitive edge and stay a step or two ahead of its competitors, it will need to have and maintain a solid infrastructure. When a company has a solid infrastructure they are more likely to see an ongoing improvement with the efficiency of their employees (Hughes Kaplan, 2009). This is because a solid infrastructure allows employees to better communicate and work more effectively. In order for a company to create or build an infrastructure that will work best for them, there are a few things in which they should address. One thing they should do is to consult with outside resources and customers as well as employees in order to determine what type of infrastructure will best address their company s needs. The company should be sure to define how they would like the infrastructure to help them in achieving their goals. Here in our country, Philippines, we can witness different festivals in each and every corner of our region. However, even Fiestas look as if our own, these have originally come from Spaniards. When Spanish missionaries entered the Philippines during the mid 1500s, they found that the fiesta was a convenient tool to help teach Filipinos the Roman Catholic faith. That is why, in the Philippines and many other former Spanish colonies, the Spanish word fiesta is used to denote a communal religious feast to honor a patron saint (Wikipedia, n.d). Hamlet Film VsFilm Essay Over the course of the past fifty years there have been many cinematic productions of Shakespeare s Hamlet, some of which remain true to the text while others take greater liberties with the original format. Director Kenneth Branagh s 1996 production of Hamlet was true to Shakespeare s work in that the film s dialogue was delivered word or word as it is presented in the text. In contrast, Franco Zeffirelli conducted his 1990 production of Hamlet in a much more liberal direction in which lines, scenes and characters were omitted from the film. I argue that from the perspective of an individual with moderate knowledge in Shakespearian literature, that the best film versions of Hamlet are those that take the most liberties from the text. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both the first and the third of the aforementioned changes that Zeffirelli made to the film have a minor impact on the audience s understanding of the underlying themes that exist throughout the play. In act 3 scene 3 Claudius performs his soliloquy which acts like a window into the true nature of Claudius guilt. This excerpt of the play is the first time we encounter Claudius confess blame for the crime against his brother. This self confession further demonstrates the guilt that Claudius exhibits in act 3 scene 2 when Claudius flees the theater after Hamlet arranges a play reenacting the events of his father s murder. As Claudius states on line 56, May one be pardoned and retain th offense? This line depicts the true nature of Claudius guilt: He does not regret his actions, for his actions have granted him My crown, mine own ambition and my queen. (3.2.55) Claudius is content with his gains, his only guilt stems from the fact that he believes he will not go to heaven because of his actions. Zeffirelli as opposed to Branagh shortens this soliloquy which causes a loss of perception into the complex role that guilt plays throughout the story. Like the presence of the theme of guilt, the film also neglects the theme of war. The character of Fortinbras is important because his invasion of Poland brings forth the literal act of war, which is a representation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Working Memory Experiment Workingmemory is defined as memory that is involved in our everyday tasks. It is the active and temporary representation of information that is maintained for the short term in one s mind to help decide what to do next (Gluck, 344). Working memory is a very pivotal part of our lives, because it is this memory that helps us stay on our feets. Working memory works in different ways with every individual. It has its own processes and there are significant working memory differences in every age group from younger adults to older adults. This memory can also be called short term memory. This paper will investigate the differences of working memory between younger and older adults, use articles to show how various experiments explain the deficits of working memory in older adults, and show how working memory is strongly needed in mathematical tasks with schoolchildren. Let s start with some background information about working memory and how it is utilized in everyday life. They influence many kids and adults to pick up the guitar and spend countless hours trying to replicate their favorite player. This is what makes guitar players so important and essential in a rock band and many times they become the main figure. Formal Analysis The paintingthat I chose to write my formal analysis on is called The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, At Night . This piece was created by Vincent Van Gogh in Arles, France and was completed sometime in September of 1888. This painting is oil on canvas, and it is currently housed in the Kroller Muller Museum located in Otterlo, The Netherlands in Europe. This painting depicts a sidewalk café in France at night. There is a doorway to the front left of the painting that is painted blue, and is surrounded by a wall that gleams yellow from the outdoor lights. Attached to the wall, there is a large awning, and it covers the diners and the empty tables that are a part of the café. Above the awning, there are open window shutters ... The café is yellow, and adds a boisterous feeling to that section of the piece. The yellow light spills onto the street and walls of the town, creating bright colors and drawing the eye. The sky and town use dark colors to illustrate nighttime, although the bright spots of the stars cause the viewer to look to the sky. The next art element that is demonstrated in this painting is time and motion. The think strokes of the leaves on the tree make it looks as though a wind is blowing through the streets of France. The pedestrians in the street demonstrate an element of time and motion because they appear to have been caught mid stride on the way to their destinations. The server in the café, as well as his customers, show motion because they are moving and having conversations amongst themselves. Texture and pattern are very easy to identify in this painting. The street s cobblestones show texture and pattern in the way that they are arranged. Texture is also demonstrated through the paint strokes on the buildings, the tree, and even the sky. These thick, uneven strokes add a layer of depth and texture to all elements of the painting. The final element in The Café Terrace on the Place du Forum, Arles, At Night that demonstrates time is the stars and darkness that represent nighttime. I admire Chris for being so brave because I know I wouldn t be able to go into the wilderness alone. I believe Chris was trying to do something good for himself, he was finally putting himself first. Social Justice InThe Gospel Of Luke Social Justice in the Gospel of Luke Scott Joseph Tabor ID/LR 5001 Foundations of Integrative Thought Social Justice in the Gospel of Luke When reading through the book of Luke, specifically Luke 4:16 30 social justice comes front and center almost immediately as Jesus is handed a scroll of the book of Isaiah. Jesus, not being one to shy away from teaching, read this book out loud and brought focus to an issue that many of us face today. The question of who is the Gospel for? Who are we as Christians, meant to share the good news with? Socially are we supposed to go outside of our comfort zones to reach those who, the Church or Society has deemed as un teachable? This is what we will be looking at in this paper. Who is the Gospel for? As you read through Luke 4:16 30 and get to verse 18 you see the Jesus is reading from the Book of Isaiah, specifically Isaiah 61:1 which says, The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; (Isaiah 61:1, New American Standard Bible). Jesus very clearly is telling all those who are listening to him in the synagogue that they are too take the message of God out to all people. They are to specifically, teach the Word of God to those who are hurt, who have found themselves in times of trouble. But how does this tie into social justice? Fotse Abstract Having fixed termParliaments in the United Kingdom is something that has been debated across the political spectrum for some years and, with the enactment of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011, is no longer something which is merely debated, but a political and constitutional reality. The Act came into force with little consultation, research, or advice to or by the Government; it was exceptionally hurried legislation. This means that there is little written on the wider constitutional effects of the Act, and it is exactly that which this essay will try to examine. Many authors and directors use a pattern of style traits, however, Tim Burton s traits are probably the most noticeable when watching his movies compared to other movies made by different directors. Tim Burton is the man who made the movies Edward Scissorhands, Vincent, Alice In Wonderland, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, all movies that depict a dark and eerie tone. Tim Burton repeatedly uses the stylistic techniques that connect the movies and make a dark, gentle horror and child like tone, such as costumes/makeup that cast an appearance different than what most others would make a person or thing look like, characters that are child like and essentially innocent, imagery is also used to portray the dark, along ... Functionalism And TheInverted Spectrum Imagine walking past a garden with an assortment of flowers. Now close your eyes and take in each distinguishing familiar smell. As you take a whiff you smell the differences between the roses, lilies, and even tulips. We can tell the sound of a drum from that of a gong; the touch of cool, smooth marble as we run our fingers over it distinctively feeling the difference from that of sandpaper. Our everyday lives are continuous experiences of sensations. These sensations have characteristic qualitative features, which are called phenomenal , phenomenological or sensory qualities. In philosophical terms these sensations can be referred to as qualia, which are defined as properties of experiences that type them in phenomenological respects . The understanding on the knowledge of other minds has provided a puzzle known as the inverted spectrum. This possibility has emerged as an important challenge to functionalist accounts of qualia. Functionalism is committed to defining mental states in terms of their cause and effects . By identifying sensory events with casual roles, however, functionalism appears to be missing qualitative aspects all together. The topic of spectrum inversion has often been raised as a contradiction to functionalism, as well as other materialist theories about consciousness. These negates to functionalism show that even when all the relevant physical facts are held constant, the facts about qualia can still vary, hence that the phenomenal must be over ... The Woman sBody In the painting, a young, life sized woman is seen dressed in a very classy manner inside of a bedroom in a palace. The top of her dress seems to be falling off of her breasts and shoulder a bit, and her right leg is exposed. Sshe is bending backwards, and her facial expression seems to be full of shock, disgust, anger, and fear, as if something horrific had just happened to her. Her right arm is raised, almost as if she is surrendering and saying don t hurt me or I didn t ask for this . In the lower left area of the portrait, there are two important items in which her face is pointed towards: broken eggs on a silver platter and a dagger, which represent lost virginity and self harm, respectively (DAI). The motion of the woman s body, her facial expression and clothes she is wearing, and the iconographic items in the painting reveal that she is Lucretia, the woman who was raped. According to the didactic, Lucretia was the wife of a Roman noble, and was raped by Sextus, the son of Tarquin, who was the king of Rome. Tarquin s nephew, Brutus, led the rebellion against the king, which eventually led to his banishment. After she was raped, Lucretia told the incident to her brother and father and probably because of how guilty she felt stabbed herself with the dagger that Sextus used to threaten her with. Analyzing The SongGood Riddance By Billie Joe Armstrong Good Riddance by Green Day is my theme for my eighth grade year. This song was written by Billie Joe Armstrong for the album Nimrod in 1997. In the album recording of the song Billie messes up the opening chord progression twice before saying a quiet explicative and playing the song correctly. The first couple weeks were pretty rough for me and I often messed up or did things that I later regretted. This song is often played at graduations and weddings, but this was not the intention of Billie Joe when he wrote the piece. Billie wrote it about a breakup and his lyrics and style of the song is meant to be sarcastic and bitter. Unfortunately most people don t know this and thus it s like the song doesn t know whether it should be sarcastic or melancholy. During this year I never knew where I belong. I am ... British Colonies AndThe British Empire Through the eyes of Great Britain, the colonies served as an area of nearly limitless raw materials that were unavailable in Europe and as an area that could serve as a market for English goods and textiles. Although the American colonies conducted a large amount of their trade with the British Empire, they soon began to realize that they could obtain the goods that they desired for less if they decided to trade with other countries. The colonies were known to import large quantities of goods from Europe because most of the commodities that were essential to their current lifestyles were only produced overseas in Europe. This heavy reliance on certain goods eventually allowed the British to institute a monopoly on certain textiles, foods, and other commodities. However, tensions began to rise following the realization by the British that the colonies had begun to conduct trade with countries other than themselves. This discovery inadvertently prompted Parliament to introduce the Navigation Acts which imposed strict regulations and laws upon trade and further outlined how the colonies were to conduct trade between themselves and the British Empire. However, unbeknownst to the British, these laws served as the catalyst that allowed the practice of smuggling and piracy to take hold within the colonies and these activities soon became a very lucrative business for all of those involved. The Opening LineOf The Middle Of Things In the opening chapter of Anna Karenina, Leo Tolstoy uses the technique of in medias res, which translates from Latin to in the middle of things , to establish the central themes of his novel. The opening line of the book serves as somewhat of a thesis statement for the seven hundred pages that follow that is, Tolstoy asserts the unique nature of unhappy families to preface a book about several strained familial relationships. In the next sentence, Tolstoy establishes the novel s chaotic tone, describing everything in the Oblonskys household as being upset . The rest of the paragraph features a series of syntactically similar sentences in the past perfect tense that discuss, in a methodical way, the causes and effects of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, in the third paragraph, the reader is introduced to the first character, Stiva, whom they are told is a prince. Tolstoy uses luxurious diction to demonstrate Stiva s lifestyle, referencing his morocco leather covered sofa and his plump, well kept body . At the point the reader is introduced to Stiva, he has had a sudden awakening. The authorial voice then switches from that of an omniscient third person to the conscious thoughts of Stiva Oblonsky. In this manner, the paragraph is very similar to the stream of consciousness style that would become so important during early twentieth century literary movements. In doing this, Tolstoy both allows us the same incomplete impression of Stiva s dream that Stiva has, and ties the dream with the light, surreal sentiment it evokes in Stiva. This technique also plays with the themes of memory and perception that were so integral to Tolstoy s early works. The dream features a party with fantastic imagery of singing glass tables and little decanters that [are] also women . This fantasy party is set in America, about as far from Petersburg as possible, which points to a pervading tendency for escapism in the Russian nobility at this time of social upheaval. Indeed, at several points in the novel, characters flee Russia when met with adversity, as when Kitty gets sick and Anna reconnects with Vronsky. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Henry V ThemeOf War Known as one of the greatest warrior kings in all of English history, Henry V has left a hefty impression. In Shakespeare s play of the same name, the monarch battles literally with France for the throne and figuratively with accountability and being a just ruler and conqueror. Through the story, we can see the values Henry holds and how the real implications of war aren t something the king cannot deal with in a proper manner. The debate between King Henry and the common soldiers like Williams and Bates illustrate fundamental problems with Henry s rule and asks important questions about the motives behind war itself. In Act 4, Scene 1 of Shakespeare s Henry V, the king does incognito in a cloak to interact with the everyman of his army. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He ignores the responsibility of the king for putting all these lives in danger. He denies the fault of the king for waging the war, and instead deflects the blame onto the will of God. Basically, his response to the soldiers is that they must be spiritually prepared when they go into battle because the king is not responsible for their deaths. This is a believe that is horribly ignorant and unfair to the people who might actually lose their lives. When the king conquers the French port on the mouth of the Seine, he insults them and states that God is on their side. Eventually, he implies that the French should feel badly for being responsible for the death of their many citizens at the hands of English. However, the same doesn t apply for himself when he could be leading his men to their deaths. This might be because he thinks God s favor lies with England but it is of course foolish and hypocritical to believe this. Using religion as a shield is a method Henry uses throughout the play, stating the kingdom of England has God on their side on multiple occasions. This aversion of guilt continually demonstrates Henry s doubt in himself and fragile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American MusicTherapy Association The American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) defines music therapy as an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals . Studies have shown that there are clear benefits from listening to or playing music, but research over the last decade proves music can be used to heal in the medical field. Dementia and other neurological disorders have no cure, only treatments to lessen the symptoms. Music therapy offers a cost effective and less invasive form of treatment that focuses on the individuals needs and goals. Music therapy is also a more creative and personalized form of treatment. This paper will provide evidence to answer the question: Are dementia and other neurological disorders improved through music therapy? In this publication, Matthews focuses on the effects of music therapy on dementia patients. He hones in on a case that was featured in the documentary Alive Inside . Henry, an elderly man with late stage dementia is given the chance to listen to some music. The music therapist plays his favorite artist, Cab Calloway and Henry begins to light up, move and remember feelings he had when he was younger and heard that song. The music therapy didn t restore what was lost but it was able to have positive effects even after the song stopped. It awakened parts of his brain that may have been dormant and music helped him bring back old memories. Matthews ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reinstating the MilitaryDraft Essay When you enjoy the freedoms you have living in the United States, you can thank those men and women who serve in the armed forces. But in recent years, our armed forces have seen a decline in enlistments, which has reignited and old debate. Should we reinstate the Military Draft? This one question has sparked a debate nationwide, between friends, family, and even perfect strangers. Reinstating the draft is just one way to ensure people can continue to enjoy those freedoms the armed forces have fought for over the years. With all the controversy surrounding mandatory military service, past and recent incidents have shown a greater need to protect ourselves from those who wish to do us harm. Continued decline in enlistment, and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not the truth at all. Mandatory service will provide those who serve many different types of opportunities. Each man and woman, who serves in the military, no matter what branch, has the opportunity to choose their field of work, or receive advanced training in an area they wish to pursue in the civilian world after their enlistment. Furthermore, they may even be able to choose which state they would live in while serving in the armed forces. This does not sound like slavery or even forced slavery, this sounds more like an opportunity to receive training and other necessary qualities companies and organizations are looking for in the civilian workforce. When looking at the whole picture, and deciding the pro s and con s of the military draft I have one final are for you to look at. Currently our armed forces are voluntary and do not accurately represent the American population. With the ideal draft system in place, it will allow for individuals from all aspects of society to represent and provide their service to our country. Along with proper representation, the military cost would be lowered. Although the armed forces would have to pay individuals more and the additional cost of food, equipment, and other essential needs would go up the, the cost of recruiting, advertising and additional benefits to lure persons into the recruiting ... Intervention For SmokingCessation Of Smoking Intervention for Smoking Cessation The most important intervention for this patient is to quit smoking. This would be very difficult for a person who smoke for more than 20 years to quit. I would explain to the patient that the best way to treat her emphysema is to stop smoking. First of all, I will assess on what this patient knows about smoking cessation. Some smokers may not have a correct information and positive attitude about quit smoking, which could be the reasons that contribute to the failure of previous attempts of quitting. I would explain to her that tobacco smoking is responsible for 90 percent of all cases of COPD, including emphysema (MacGill, 2015). Normally, when particles enter the lung, these particles lands on a thin layer of mucus inside the lungs. The little hairs, called cilia, help to move mucus and the particles from the lungs upward toward the throat. This process allows the mucus to be expelled or swallowed (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Coughing is another way the lungs protect themselves from irritants in bronchial tubes (American Thoracic Society, 2015). Inhalation of smoke, over times, will destroy cilia, and they no longer remove mucus effectively. Subsequently, mucus accumulates inside the lungs causing irritation and coughing (American Thoracic Society, 2015). The most effective way to stop coughing is to stop smoking. I would also point out that the patient is developing a condition called Leukoplakia as evidence by white patches are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Language And CultureIn Ken Wiwa s Get Beyond Babel Ken Wiwa presents several ideas pertaining to language and culture within his essay, Get Beyond Babel. Wiwa explains that every language has a chance of dying out over time. For any language to survive through years of societal changes, it must be adapted so it can be used to embrace other cultures, new technology and new perspectives. Wiwa presents the concept that language is the same as culture. I do not agree with this concept because I believe that culture is carried by the people, not by the language. Wiwa uses the idea that languages never die if they are always taking concepts from other languages. My parents mother tongue is a prime example of countering the statement. My parents were both born in Sri Lanka and spoke Tamil as they grew up, which is a language that has been around for over 2000 years. It is a language that was primarily used in South Asia, but has grown. The language of Tamil did not always have to adopt terms from other languages to expand. Over 100 million people today continue to speak the language. As a language, Anglo Saxon, or Old English, was very different from modern English, similarly to Tamil. However, Tamil is a language that has been able to thrive on its own. Tamil counters Wiwa s idea that languages absorb other dialects to survive. In fact, in South Asia, it is the other way around and dialects in Sri Lanka must adopt the Tamil language to stay relevant. The language of Tamil did not become extinct or endangered because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Advantage AndDisadvantages Of Pyrometer Pyrometer is a touch less type temperature measuring device. In other words, pyrometer is a transducer that makes use of the visible or invisible radiation emitted by an object to determine its temperature without any physical contact with it. It is used to measure the surface temperatures of very hot objects like furnaces and distant objects without actually being in contact with it. It intercepts and measures the thermal radiation emitted by the object, a process called pyrometry. The word pyrometer originated from the Greek word for fire, πυρ (pyro) and meter meaning to measure. Due to its speed, accuracy, specific advantages and economy, pyrometer is gaining acceptance in new fields. HISTORY Originally pyrometry was a strictly visual measuring method. In early times the experienced blacksmiths and steel workers could predict the metal s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also it is not useful for obtaining continuous values of temperature at small intervals. It also depends on the skill of the user. ADVANTAGES Pyrometers are widely used these days due the following advantages: 1) Fast response time Pyrometers have very short response time. In the case of normal thermometers ,the probe must first reach the same temperature of the object and this takes time due to thermal conduction. But in the case of pyrometers, the radiation is being measured and the temperature is shown. 2) Affect on temperature and material As an optical pyrometer uses a portion of the energy radiated by the target object, it does not affect the temperature of the target in the act of measuring .Also the life of contact free measuring devices is more in comparison to the thermo elements as the latter gets damaged due to wear and tear. 3) Measuring moving objects Due to its short response time, pyrometers can be used to measure the temperature of fast moving ...
