3. Abstract
• Objective – To study the synthesis of silver
nanoparticles in treatment of diabetes.
• Method – Green synthesis method use to formulate
herbal mediated silver nano particles was discussed.
• Result - Author concluded study by suggesting
synthesis & various characterization method of
HMSNPs(Herbal Mediated Silver Nanoparticles) &
their pharmacological application to treat the
diabetes.
• Conclusion - Synthesized and formulated herbal
mediated silver nanoparticles are biodegradable,
biocompatible and non-toxic and has greater ability
to enter biological cell membrane.

4. Introduction
• Diabetes is metabolic disorder caused by dysfunction of β
cell of pancreas lead to ↓ in production of the hormone
insulin or ↑ resistance to the action of insulin in peripheral
tissues.
• It categorized into 2 types. Type 1 diabetes develops when
the body’s errant immune system damages and destroys the
pancreatic β cell that produce the blood glucose regulating
hormone insulin.
• Type 2 diabetes is cause due to progressive insulin
resistance/ insensitiveness with an ensuing reduction in the
ability of the pancreatic hormone to suppress hepatic glucose
output.

5. What is Nanotechnology
• It is defined as the “International design, characterization
and production of materials, structures and system by
controlling their size and shape in the nano scale ranging
from 1-100 nm.”
• Nanoparticles are similar to biological molecule and
system so, they are potentially useful for medical
application.
• It show the completely new or improved properties such
as size, distribution and morphology of the particles.

6. Why nanoparticles unique from normal
size particles?
It has specific surface area, size and shape due to there
unique physicochemical properties.
Nano crystalline silver particles have been providing
application in filed of high sensitivity bio molecular
detection, diagnostics, antimicrobials therapeutics.
Silver has good inhibitory action to the microbial strain
against bacteria present in medical and industrial process.
The present scenario especially the SNP’s have been playing
important role in herbal nano technology to prevent chronic
diseases like diabetes and cancer.

8. Need of green synthesis
The need for synthesis of nanoparticles due the
physical and chemical processes are costly.
Chemical synthesis method leads to presence of
some of toxic chemicals absorbed on the surface
that they have adverse effect in medical application.
Green synthesis provides advancement over
chemical and physical method as it is cost effective,
environment friendly, easily scaled up for large
scale synthesis.
In this method there is no need to use high pressure,
energy, temperature and toxic chemicals.

The main advantage of using plant extract for silver
nanoparticle synthesis is easily available, safe and
nontoxic and have a broad variety in that can aid in
the reduction of silver ions.
The reduction of silver ions due to phytochemicals.
The main phytochemicals involved are terpenoids,
flavones, ketones, aldehydes, amides and carboxylic
acid.
Flavones, organic acids and Quinone are water
soluble phytochemicals that are responsible for
immediate reduction of the ions.

17. Application of silver nano particles
NP’s are of great interest due to their extremely
small size and large surface.
NP’s leads to both chemical and physical
differences in their properties compared to bulk of
the same chemical composition, such as mechanical,
biological and steric properties, catalytic activity,
thermal and electrical conductivity, optical
absorption and melting point.
Designing and production of materials with novel
applications can be results by controlling shape and
size at nanometer scale.
