Decriminalization Of Prostitution Essay
There are about 13,828,700 prostitutes in the world; 3 million in China, 2 million in India and 1
million in the United States. Each year in New York City there is 4,200 prostitution arrest, and 5
officers will need to conduct a prostitution sting (a sting operation is an undercover operation designed
to catch a person committing a crime or in this case a prostitute). Yet, what even is prostitution? Do
we as a people gather the full concept and the reasoning behind why these men and women subject
themselves to intercourse for money? The definition of prostitution is an occupation of engaging in
sexual activity with someone for payment. Though prostitution is defined as an occupation it is still
criminalized by today s society and government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I agree that child prostitution is a significant global problem, both in developed and
undeveloped countries, I must argue the involvement of sex workers. A primary reason why we have a
child prostitution increase is due to the criminalization of adult prostitution. When a sexually
ambitious person cannot find an adult sex worker, they would turn to pimps, who mostly use underage
sex workers, to satisfy their sexual urges. By keeping sex work illegal, victims of sex trafficking are
less likely to go to the police out of fear of being arrested, also, sex trafficking victims are often
treated like criminals. Sadly, 100,000 children are forced into prostitution every year in America. But
at the same time, there is evidence to support that legalizing prostitution reduces sex trafficking. In
2001, Germany legalized sex work. Over the course of the next 10 years, instances of sex based
human trafficking decreased by 10 percent within the country. Working with instead of against sex
workers will lead to more slaves being rescued. In Germany, it already is. While prohibitionists claim
that legalizing prostitution has increased human trafficking in the country, the data doesn t support
them. Proclaimed by Cathy Reisenwitz of the Daily

Reflection On Negotiation Simulation
The negotiation simulation was a very informative and interesting assignment from beginning to end.
The practical application was unlike anything else we ve been required to complete thus far in our
program. The ability to openly engage in a mock negotiation was very insightful, and allowed me to
further develop an understanding of the intricate underworking s of the personal interactions and
preparations that define how the negotiation unfolds. I enjoyed the insight into the perspective of the
union s side of negotiation, as I typically assume a perspective from management when considering
negotiations and their implications. This allowed me to understand the viewpoint and strategies
accompanying the union s side of the negotiation, which could prove invaluable to me in the future.
During the negotiation process, I learned many important lessons. Primarily I learned that no matter
how straightforward you believe your facts are, there is multiple ways to interpret statistics and facts,
as well as, a plethora of metrics that measure similar variables. In other words, I learned the
importance of being prepared to deal with a variety of scenarios and opposing bargaining strategies.
This came into play during the negotiation of my article of paid vacations. When negotiating this
article, I prepared using primarily the statistics provided in the excel files. I used the numbers of
weeks of vacation in relation to the seniority and compared this metric to that of the other 17

The Concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism
Buddhism and Hinduism have common roots: both religions have arisen in India. However, over long
history of its formation, Buddhism has absorbed traditions of many civilizations of the East. It was not
just a religion. This teaching is about personal enlightenment and contemplation of spirit. This
awakening of soul has no reference to God. According to Hindu teachings, the whole world is a
samsara. It consists of endless series of rebirths, where life is a suffering and stagnancy. The world
around is an illusion. Nevertheless, beyond samsara exists a real world, which is ruled by the ... Show

Nobody argues with such fate. The biggest chances to break out of samsara are representatives of the
highest priestly caste. Buddhism professes this principle in opportunities to attain the supreme grace.
It does not appreciate caste society. In addition, Buddhism is focusing solely on the individual and his
conscience.
Hinduism is an amorphous religion. It has no single founder, does not constitute a single religion with
specific dogma, and consists of many apprenticeships which have the same roots, but often include
contradictory. Buddhism has a clear doctrine, though it is not a dogma. This movement is a system of
philosophical knowledge. Generally, Hinduism is a national religion of Indians. Hinduism is
unthinkable outside its boundries. Buddhism is a religion that is non national. It involves people with
different cultural traditions.
Buddhists have their own cultural and educational centers, their ideology. Buddhism, preaches social
and political indifference. In practice, they made a huge contribution to the organization of society and
its ethno political awareness of their values. Society, politics and history are diametrically far for the
followers of Hinduism. Hinduism is indifferent and unavailable for alteration or changes. Buddhism is
more dynamic concept and it is attainable for renewal.
Place of emergence and spread of Hinduism is Indian subcontinent, where the

Chinese And English Language Learners
Abstract
This paper attempts to better educate general education classroom teachers about working with
Chinese speaking English Language Learner (ELL) students. The audience for this paper is teachers
who do not have knowledge of Chinese language and culture or a history of working with Chinese
ELLs. Through a discussion of Chinese educational culture, a comparison of Chinese and English
languages, and a list of suggested teaching strategies, this author hopes to provide valuable
information for classroom teachers to improve their work with Chinese ELLs. Similarities and
differences between Chinese and English will be highlighted so that teachers can gain a better
understanding of what will be completely new to Chinese ELL students in a United States school, and
what previous knowledge these students have that they can transfer to their study of English.
A review of previously published research and case studies frames the topics covered in this paper.
With more information about Chinese culture and language, general education teachers in the United
States should feel better prepared to work with Chinese ELLs.

Managing The Global Financial System
In today s financial world systems, methods have been developing exponentially that reduce risk and
increase the profits of investors who are financially able and willing to commit funds to investments,
becoming part of the global financial system. The methods are sophisticated and require financial
experts who are entrusted to make the right choices in arranging the best investment plans that will
benefit these investors. One of these increasingly popular methods is asset securitization. Measures in
the application of this particular method have been improving, especially since the market crash of
2008. Structured finance, which is another word for securitization, is an alternative, non standard way
of raising money by creating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the United States, farm railroad mortgage bonds were some of the earliest forms of
securities. Later, in 1970, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development created the first
modern residential mortgage backed security, creating the Government National Mortgage Association
(GNMA or Ginnie Mae). Some years later, the model developed in securitization of mortgage backed
loans was also applied to non mortgage assets such as automobile loans and credit card sales by banks.
In the 1990s, the life insurance and reinsurance (catastrophe coverage) markets began using
securitization. Securitization in in the reinsurance markets played an important role after Hurricane
Katrina.
As mentioned before, there are certain steps which take advantage of this method of financial
structure. First, if there is a company that wants to obtain financing through securitization, that
company will start by identifying assets that can be used to raise funds. These assets typically
represent rights to payments at future dates and are usually referred to as receivables. The company
that owns the receivable is usually called the originator. In this process, the risk that these payments
many not be made on time is an important factor in valuing the receivables. In this factor, emphasis
and confidence is place on the originator, who must reasonably predict the

Analysis Of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
One of the most popular authors of all time is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. His work is still used as a base
for many different types of media made today. There are dozens of books, television shows, and
movies patterned after his most well known series starring Sherlock Holmes, who was first introduced
in the book A Study in Scarlet. This character that he created has become a household name in not
only his home country but the rest of the world as well. Unlike most past authors, Doyle s work was
popular while he was alive, although not for the reasons that he preferred. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was
born on May 22, 1859 to Charles and Mary Doyle in Edinburgh, Scotland. Despite his strict Irish
Catholic upbringing, Doyle owes much of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soon after his first marriage in 1886, Doyle, a then struggling author, wrote a mystery novel now
known as A Study in Scarlet. This work was published in Beeton s Christmas Annual and was the first
of sixty appearances of the famed detective, Sherlock Holmes. The following years, Doyle would
become very active in the Spiritualist movement from 1887 to 1916 for which he wrote three books.
Despite this, he was most widely known for his Sherlock Holmes series. In fact, Doyle attempts to kill
off the character of Holmes in one of his books in order to focus more on Spiritualist writings, but was
forced to revive the character in order to get more money for his missionary work. Two years before
his death in 1930, Doyle published a compilation of twelve stories about Sherlock Holmes entitled
The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes ( Arthur Conan Doyle ). A Study in Scarlet follows Dr. John
Watson, a veteran of the Afghan war who is now trying to fit back into London society. An old friend
of his sends him in the direction of a man named Sherlock Holmes who is looking for a roommate.
Soon after settling in, Holmes reveals to Watson what he does for a living, helping the police solve
crimes as a consulting detective. Holmes then invites Watson to observe a murder crime scene with
him. Despite his methods being tedious, Watson soon discovers that his roommate is a genius. Holmes
use of subtle details reveals the shoe size, height, and finger nail length of the suspect of the

xenografts from donor pigs not expressing (GTKO.CD46) were transplanted in SPF baboons using
previously used anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody based immunosuppression. All heterotopic cardiac

Transplanted recipient baboons were successfully extubated immediately following surgery and were

In contrast, both IgM and IgG non Gal antibodies were increased when xenograft rejection was
triggered by withdrawal of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody in a previous experiment (4). Besides our
earlier report, Anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment is also shown to be associated with the
prevention of induced anti pig humoral immune response in pig hematopoietic cell transplantation in
baboon (18). We have previously reported a shorter cardiac xenograft survival (median 71 days) from
GTKO.hCD46 donor pigs along with anti CD154 antibody based immunosuppression (2). Perhaps by
using clinically available anti CD154 antibody along with GE pigs expressing hTBM will allow faster
clinical transition. However, Anti CD154 antibody has been shown to cause thromboembolic
complications which may limit its clinical application. Anti CD40(2C10R4) antibody blocks the same
CD40/CD154 pathway without causing thromboembolism and has also been shown to prolong the
graft survival in both the xeno and allotransplantation setting by us (4) and others (12) (19) but this
agent is not currently approved for clinical use. In our recently reported study (4), low doses of anti
CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment and early withdrawal it from the immunosuppressive regimen
resulted in poor xenograft outcome (20). In the current study, despite of high

Proper Level Of Segregation Between Audit And Non Audit...
Abstract
Abstract:The purpose of this research paper is to discuss the proper level of segregation between audit
and non audit services, to ensure independence and instill public confidence. In the wake of numerous
accounting scandals of Enron, WorldCom, etc, the importance of auditor independence has been
brought to the forefront of the accounting profession. The U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight
Board (PCAOB) has taken a strict stance on auditor independence, which signifies that an auditor
cannot provide business advisory services without impeding their autonomy. However, an analysis of
the current auditor client relationship reveals contradictions to the interpretation of absolute auditor
independence. In recent developments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, AICPA s Code of Professional Conduct contains over 200 pages of interpretive guidance
on the topic of independence alone. The AICPA and PCAOB stress heavily on the importance of
auditor independence, and for good reason. Financial statement users trust independent auditors ability
to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material
misstatement, whether caused by error or fraud. (AU C 200.06) Auditor independence is required to
instill public confidence in U.S. financial markets. Thus, the Public Company Accounting Oversight
Board (PCAOB) has a strict view on independence in both fact and appearance. In AU 220.01,
PCAOB states that an auditor must be without bias with respect to the client. More specifically, an
independent auditor must be free from any obligation to or interest in the client, its management, or its
owners. (AU 220.03) This strict interpretation of auditor independence was adopted as a means to
restore public confidence in U.S. financial markets following the Enron, Waste Management, and
other frauds in the early 2000 s. Unfortunately, the concept of strict auditor independence may be
impossible in today s public accounting environment. There are several environmental factors that
influence perceived auditor independence. The underlying fee structure for accounting firms that audit
public companies prohibits complete auditor client

The Significance Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By...
Love is a powerful motivator in the world. While love isn t tangible, it is all around us in the world. In
our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love
too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts,
their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is
the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a
tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn
t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that
remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent
if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine
the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early,
with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love
(Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early
on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that,
Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not
able to observe this convention (Landau). To

A Hostile Witness On The Indian Evidence Act
The term hostile witness is not defined in the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. Yet, provisions are present in
the Act which deal with the quandary. According to Section 132 of the Act, the witness has to answer
questions even if the answers to such questions will or can criminate the witness or expose the witness
to a penalty or forfeiture. The proviso states that such an answer cannot subject the witness to any
arrest or prosecution except a prosecution for providing false evidence. Thus, the protection accorded
under the proviso does not extend to giving false evidence. Section 154 of the Act provides for
impeachment of credit of the witness by the party who calls such a witness. This may be done with the
Court s discretion. The party can put any question to the witness which might be put by the opposite
party in a cross examination. The party which is so permitted is not disallowed from relying on the
any part of evidence provided by the hostile witness. This helps the party to extract the truth. This is
one of the prime remedies that a party has against a hostile witness. The wide discretion that is
conferred upon the Court is to be used after due application of mind. In order to see if the witness has
indeed turned hostile, statements made to the police officer can be relied on by virtue of Section 162
of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It has been held that some material should be present to prove that
the witness has gone back from his earlier statement or has shown

Who was Napoleon Essay
Napoleon was born in Ajaccio, Corsica, on 15 August 1769, the second of Carlo and Letizia Bonaparte
s eight children. In 1778, Napoleon began his education at Autun and later attended school in Brienne,
excelling in mathematics and science. Following a year s study at the Ecole Militaire in Paris, he was
commissioned in the artillery in 1785. The year 1789 saw the outbreak of the French revolution,
which created an atmosphere of opportunity that would not have existed under the Bourbons, and
Napoleon was to make the most of it.
The first opportunity came in 1793, when Bonaparte was promoted to brigadier general for the

He signed a Concordat with the Pope in 1801 which restored religion to France, but his greatest
achievement was the Civil Code which in part is still used today. His growing popularity resulted in
his being proclaimed Emperor in 1804. At the coronation, Napoleon crowned himself, taking the
crown from the Pope in a symbolic manner to show that power stemmed from the state and not the
church as with previous monarchs.
It was an uneasy peace however, and plans were made to invade Britain by crossing the English
Channel, but these were abandoned when Napoleon marched his highly trained Grand Armée into
central Europe to meet the converging forces of Austria and Russia. Capturing a large part of the
Austrian army at Ulm, Napoleon crossed the Danube to face the remaining Austrians and the Russians
at Austerlitz. The result was a decisive victory known as the Battle Of Three Emperors on 2 December
1805. Austria sued for peace, but a new coalition was formed of Britain, Russia and Prussia. Napoleon
defeated the Prussians at Jena in 1806, and the Russians at Friedland in 1807.
Following these victories, Napoleon was at the pinnacle of his career. With a great display of pomp he
met the Tsar of Russia at Tilsit and a new Franco/Russian alliance was born. Portions of Prussia were
divided into new states, and Napoleon later announced a new policy of economic warfare that was to
become known as the Continental System. Its goal was to

Heckler s Veto Analysis
Lucia Valdivia is an assistant professor of English and Humanities at Reed College. In her article, she
talks about how the right to speak freely is not the same as the right to rob others of their voices. I
agree because, ultimately, everyone believes they are fighting for the right cause, so silencing the
other party s voice means we must silence all parties voices. The heckler s veto is defined as the
suppression of speech in order to appease disruptive, hostile, or threatening members of the audience,
(Gillman, Chemerinsky). This has been ruled time and time again as unconstitutional when speakers
are actually designated to speak in a private area. Although, in a public space, such as an open campus

Unit 3 Types Of Asexual Reproduction
There are three types of asexual reproduction known as, budding, regeneration, and parthenogenesis.
Budding is the production of new individuals that form from bodies of older animals. Regeneration
can either replace a damaged tissue or form another individual. An example of regeneration is
flatworms. Lastly, parthenogenesis is the development of the offspring from unfertilized eggs. An
example of parthenogenesis is honey bees or ants. In the evolution of sex cells divide because it
replaces cells that have aged and died. Another reason for why cells divide is because it replaces cells
that are lost or damaged known as regeneration. In a cell division chromosomes are replicated and it is
passed on to daughter cells. The number of chromosomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Neuroscience Of The Nervous System
Vigen Karchyan
Neuroscience Neuroscience, commonly referred to as Neural Science, is the study of the way the
nervous system develops, how it is structured and the functions of it. Scientists put emphasis on the
brain and the impact it has on behavior and cognitive functions. These scientists approach a closer
look on the reactions the nervous system has when humans have neurological, psychiatric and
neurodevelopmental disorders. The entire concept of neuroscience is addressed as a subdivision of
biology. It is applied to chemistry, cognitive science, engineering, mathematics, linguistics and more.
Scientists say that neuroscience is identical as neurobiology but there is a difference between the two
conceptions. Neurobiology focuses mainly on the biology of the nervous system and neuroscience
emphasizes on any portion of the nervous system. Neuroscientists have various fields of study that
include cellular, functional, computational and medical aspects of the nervous system. The history of
neuroscience dates back and the Ancient Egyptians believed that intelligence rooted from the heart.
Throughout the process of mummification, they detached the brain but left the heart inside of the
body. Herodotus, a Greek historian that lived up until 425BC, claimed the most perfect practice is to
extract as much of the brain as possible with an iron hook, and what the hook cannot reach is mixed
with drugs. There were scripts focused on the brain that were first found in 1700BC in

It was April 18th 1775 and John William Adams climbed out of bed and walked across the room. He
was dressed in a long white linen shirt that flowed down to his knees. The sleeves were a bit tattered
and dirty, but it was the only shirt he owned. He walked over to the wash basin and started his
morning ritual of shaving. It was expected that all members of the American militia be clean shaven.
He splashed some cold water on his face from the wash basin and reached for his Perret razor which
had an l shaped wooden handle and long straight blade. After shaving he reached for his wool
stockings and slipped them on. John Williams mother Constance had made the stockings from lamb s

Unaccompanied Immigrant Children
Should the United States Deport Unauthorized and Unaccompanied Immigrant Children?
Dan Coats believe that illegal children who immigrated unaccompanied should be deported due to the
increasing numbers and how it promotes the dangerous journeys the children take to get to the United
States. Coats believes the focus should be placed on the children s start of their journey and deterring
them from coming. The focus should not be once they arrive at the border (p. 186).
In contrast, Mark Seitz argues the children should not be deported and have the best interest of the
child standard apply to them. The author looks at potential reasons for this increase in number and
also proposes recommendations for congress to ensure that the children are ... Show more content on

The techniques include, appeal to authority, and bandwagon. In the opening paragraph, Seitz appeals
to authority. The line, In November 2013, I was privileged to lead a United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops delegation traveling to Southern Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to
examine and understand the flight of unaccompanied migrating children and youth... (p. 189) was
used to build up his credibility since he has experience. Sietz also appeals to sympathy on different
occasions. The first instance is when he states, Mr. Chairman I would like to share the stories of three
children one from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to give the committee a sense of the reality
of the violence they are fleeing: (p. 190). The simple thought of hearing these children s stories evokes
emotions of sympathy. Another instance is his conclusion when he states, I ask you to consider the
individual stories of these vulnerable child migrants and open your minds and hearts to their plight
while seeking meaningful and long term regional solutions. I ask you to respond to the needs of these
children not to turn them away or ostracize them as Americans are a compassionate people (pg. 193).
The words vulnerable and plight as well as the line open your minds and heart evoke sympathy.
Lastly, the line, As Americans are a compassionate people (p. 193) is borderline bandwagon because it
could insinuate that if you disagree then you are not compassionate or American.
After reading both sides of the arguments I found Dan Coats argument most biased because it
contained the most propaganda. In my opinion, the oversimplification of what he called the narrative
was distracting and seemed informal to me. I understand the importance; however, it could have been
presented differently. In addition, his argument contained pseudo

strategically placed throughout the story of Beowulf to help the conversion from the old world pagan
religious belief system to the Christian beliefs of the new world. Historians believe that Beowulf was
written sometime in the eighth century in England. This fact is important because during this era,
society was in the process of converting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Beowulf may represent Christ in this part of the story, it can be viewed that Grendel represents
the devil. The battle between Beowulf and Grendel can represent the Christian theme of good versus
evil. To make the connection even more solid, Grendel is referred to as a descendant of Cain, whom
Satan tricks into sinning and committing the first murder in the human world. Grendel represents the
image of a man fallen from grace through sin. Like Satan who is jealous of the happiness and joy that
Adam and Eve have in the Garden of Eden, Grendel is jealous of the happiness and joy in Heorot.
Grendel, as with Satan, is a rival of God and poses a great challenge to Beowulf, just as evil poses a
challenge to Christians. Another connection that Grendel shares with the devil is his dwelling. Grendel
lives in an underworld just as Satan lives in hell. Grendel is referred to in the poem as the guardian of
sins . These small hints of the Christian culture to come are a way of slowly introducing the Christian
beliefs to the common people, and perhaps getting them ready for the introduction of the stories of
Jesus and his teachings. This way, they have something to relate the stories of Jesus to, and the ideas
of Jesus are not so new and shocking. Perhaps the strongest relation to Christianity in Beowulf is in
the last battle scene of the story. The dragon is Beowulf s last and most intriguing battle. The dragon

Blue Girls By John Crowe Ransom
John Crowe Ransom s poem, Blue Girls, is one speaker s attempt at trying to help a group of young
school girls develop a more grown up view of themselves and the world around them. Ransom
attempts to portray the reality of the actions and attitude of its targeted group, the blue girls, and
attempts to enlighten them as to truth of the real world namely that their teenage hood and general life
is actually a short experience and that in which no one can prolong any portion of it. By providing a
depiction of a group of somewhat silly and irrational young girls, the speaker attempts to show these
same girls the hard truth they re not so different from their elders whom they ridicule. This writer
finds the identity of the speaker of the poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The before it fail portion of the line speaks to the fleeting and fading of the young girls beauty due to
age. The speaker then says that they will cry with my loud lips and publish this line referencing the
proclamation of a young lady s beauty by either a courtier or in the case of royalty, that same
proclamation by the people whom serve under a princess or queen. To publish would be to spread out
and distribute the information implying that the speaker somewhat wants to help the blue girls get the
most out of their child/teenage hood. The two lines of Beauty which all our power will never establish
and it is so frail have the speaker get back in line with the lesson that they re trying to teach the girls
no matter how hard one tries, one s beauty and youthfulness will only last for as long as it

What Are The Similarities Between Killing Kennedy
In the book Killing Kennedy it says that Lincoln and Kennedy had many similarities, and they do.
There are many similarities between John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln. These
similarities can range from a simple year to in depth details. Details like Booth and Oswald were both
killed before being brought to trial. Most of the similarities are fact except a few like, Lincoln had a
secretary named Kennedy and Kennedy had a secretary named Lincoln. Only Kennedy s secretary was
named Lincoln, there is no record of a Kennedy. The elections and time in office were almost exactly
alike. They were both elected into congress in 46 and elected as president in 60. Both of their
predecessors left office in the 70s and retired to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One similarity is that they were both shot in the head on Friday seated by their wives. On those Friday
s there were major holidays after. Both presidents were with another couple at the time of their
assassinations. The male of the other couple was injured during the assassination. Both of the
assassins committed the crime in the building that they were employed. One of the most amazing facts
is that Lincoln was shot at fords theatre and Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln car made by ford. And
Lincoln sat in box number seven at the theatre and Kennedy was in car number seven in the
motorcade. Another one of the most amazing facts is the John Wilkes booth fled from a theatre and
was caught in a warehouse and lee Harvey Oswald fled from a warehouse and was caught in a theatre.
There were theories that booth and Oswald were part of a greater conspiracy. Both of the assassins died
in the same moth as their victims in the state next to their state of birth. And the both of the assassins
were sympathetic to another government against the United States. Back to the presidents now, they
both had body guards that were named William. Whenever the presidents were shot they receive
medical attention right away, but there s also a similarities there too. Both of the doctors were named
Charles. Kennedy died in parkland hospital and Lincoln died in the pertersen house. Both of these

Social And Cultural Belief On Art Practice
Ouroborus Introduction
The brief for this assignment is as I see it to research more than 8 carving cultures and to explain the
impact of social and cultural belief on art practice. To present research material in the correct form and
record citations and bibliography correctly. This information is based on the question.
Is the Ouroborus relevant to our culture of carving from a personal, local and global view point?
Within this essay I will try to provide information that explains what Ouroborus is, investigate and
include text that links the Ouroborus to many different carving cultures that the Ouroborus has had or
still does have an effect on, and cover some of the many different impacts this symbol has an those
cultures.
(Google.co.nz, 2015) [1]
What is meaning of Ouroborus
The following are two different meanings from different sources.
1. The ouroboros from the Greek (οὐροβόρος ὄφις tail devouring snake) is an ancient symbol
depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail.
The ouroboros often symbolizes self reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something
constantly re creating itself, the eternal return, and other things such as the phoenix which operate in
cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. It can also represent the idea of primordial unity related to
something existing in or persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be
extinguished. While first emerging in Ancient Egypt and India, the

Reasoning In Hamlet
Reason is how we discover the truth in nature, without relying on the senses, said by Descartes. It
seems as if Descartes believes that reason is rational, objective thought whereas senses are subjective
thoughts. Neither are objective, as humans even our most rational thoughts are subjective and bias to
who we are as individual people. Even if reason tells people that the sky is red, our senses say
otherwise and no amount of reason can persuade what one can see right in front of them. I would have
to, therefore, disagree with Descartes, reason varies from individual to individual and also depending
on situations and circumstances. This quote does relate to today s morals and humanity specifically in
the justice system. In the court system the United States relies on some level of reasonable doubt.
Jurors use reasonings to analyze facts and determine a verdict without relying on their senses, despite
not being at the scene of a crime or incident. Descartes quote came to mind at the very beginning of
Bohannan s story. Bohannan was given Hamlet by a friend to read while in Africa due to the primitive
setting and maybe with some meditation Bohannan could discover the true meaning. After completing
Bohannan s story, coming back to this is humorous. Bohannan s friend was hoping that meditation,
deep thought, and reasoning would help Bohannan come to an accurate interpretation of Hamlet, but
when Bohannan relied on the senses to listen to the elders while storytelling she

The Corrupted Christ Figure In The Poisonwood Bible
The Corrupted Christ Figure
A Christ figure can share attributes with Jesus and be the antagonist of the story. In Thomas C. Foster
s novel How to Read Literature like a Professor, he analyzes what a Christ figure looks like in
literature. He argues that a character who shares personality traits and or physical characteristics with
Christ is a representation and reflection of Jesus. Similarly, in Barbara Kingsolver s novel The
Poisonwood Bible, her character Nathan Price believes he is synonymous to Christ while in reality, he
is far from perfect. She uses irony to exploit the idea of the Christ figure. The use of irony as seen in
Kingsolver s novel, up ends Foster s claims as to what makes a Christ figure by creating a character
who assumes he is Christ yet does not reflect Christ s attributes.
A Christ figure represents the attributes of Christ in the way they live. Foster expands on this idea by
arguing a list of characteristics regarding Jesus. As readers, he claims, while we may not be all that
versed in types and archetypes from the Bible, we generally recognize, whatever our religious
affiliation, some of the features that make Christ who he is (Foster 125). If Christ s attributes reflect
themselves in a character, readers can use their knowledge to assume the character is a Christ figure.
Likewise, Kingsolver uses Nathan Price as an examples of a Christ figure. Nathan comes to the Congo
to redeem an unworthy people, has disciples (his family), and wanders the

A significant client side administration overhead.
By 1995, a new variation of the traditional two tier client server model appeared to solve these
problems called the three tier client server architecture. This new architecture proposed three layers,
each potentially running on a different platform:
1) The user interface layer, which runs on the end user s computer (the client).
2) The business logic and data processing layer. This middle tier runs on a server and is often called
the application server. One application server is designed to serve multiple clients.
3) A DBMS, which stores the data required by the middle tier. This tier may run on a separate server
called the database server.
The three tier design has many advantages over the traditional two tier design, such as:
A thin client, which requires less expensive hardware. Simplified application maintenance, as a result
of centralizing the business logic for many end users into a single application server. This eliminates
the concerns of software distribution that are problematic in the traditional two tier client server
architecture. Added modularity, which makes it easier to modify or replace one tier without affecting

College Dropouts Essay
Many high school students succeed with a little leniency through their four years. The transfer from
high school to college becomes overwhelming and a struggle for some. For students do not
comprehend the importance of changing more than their location during the transition. A student must
be psychologically, physically, and emotionally mature to pursue college and not venture into a point
of no return. Dropping out of college makes the outlook of the conversion difficult to acquire.
Individuals should take their time on deciding which college and/or university is the best match for
them. There are various reasons that cause persons not to prosper. Issues that individuals may come
upon might leave a lifelong scar. Matters such as these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often students take high school for granted; consequently it shows when they reach college. For
example, in high school, teachers may accept late work, tardiness, and continuous inappropriate
behavior. The college classes that they will have to face will not tolerate such things as this. Preparing
for the work load and lifestyle is the two most important objectives to grasp early.
Furthermore, many people want to progress in their work, some simply want to gain in depth
education on the particular field they want to achieve. However, individual s bosses do not always
understand. Having a job while in college is a huge demand. Depending on whether students have
families or not will put them in a tight position. Ultimately the demand for both will result in them
dropping out of college. Mark Kantrowitz says, Many students who drop out of college has to work
while enrolled in college (Why Do Students Drop out of College Kantrowitz). He follows up by
saying that they often find it very difficult to support themselves and their families and go to college at
the same time (Why Do Students Drop out of College Kantrowitz). In most homes, one s family
always comes first no matter what. For example, the desired accomplishments of the mother are not
greater than the needs of her children. School work and the work one puts into he/she s job alone are
hard to manage. Having to

Amadeus Research Paper
The film Amadeus has been added to my personal collection of favorite and most interesting films of
all time. The movie Amadeus won eight academy awards, and is considered one of the most popular
movies of that time. Before watching the movie, I thought it was going to be all about Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart but was shied away from that thought after it opened and closed with Antonio
Salieri. Antonio Salieri had a dream of becoming the best composer in Vienna as well as the world. He
worshiped God and wanted to make music with gods helping hand, then he met a man with such great
talent that he thought god had turned his back on him and shined his light on Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart.

Wolfgang s mother, Anna Maria Pertl, was born to a middle class family of local community leaders.
His only sister was Maria Anna with their father s encouragement and guidance, they both were
introduced to music at an early age. Mozart was an extremely talented child, who started to compose
music before the age of five years old. By the age of thirteen, Mozart started writing proof of his
genius with sonatas, concertos, symphonies, religious works and quite a few operas. In the year 1773
he wrote his first piano concerto.
The relationship between Mozart and Salieri wasn t as hate filled as the film was sought out to be. For
Salieri, another great composer at that time, it is easy for him to take the part as a musically jealous
antagonist for the film. The film showed that Salieri at the end of the film was considered crazy by
placing him in an insane asylum because of the claims he made about Mozart and his works. Salieri in
fact did not hate Mozart because of lack of proof, but for the movie it was fitting to show that he
envied Mozart, turned against him, and even tried to kill

Media and Body Image Essay
How do the media influence females? Images of female bodies are everywhere. Women, and their
bodies, sell everything from food to cars. Women s magazines are full of articles urging women to fit a
certain mold. While standing in a grocery store line you can see all different magazines promoting
fashion, weight loss, and the latest diet. Although the magazines differ, they all seemingly convey the
same idea: if you have the perfect body image you can have it all the perfect marriage, loving
children, great sex, and a rewarding career. The media, whether TV, print, or Internet advertising,
seems to play a huge role in influencing women of all ages; from adolescence and teens, to women in
their twenties and thirties, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems that younger females are more apt to believe that most everything they see in the media is
realistic and attainable, and they try to mimic what they see on TV or read in magazines. They also
tend to watch TV shows like One Tree Hill, Laguna Beach, and Gilmore Girls. Why do our young
females look to these fictional characters for real life answers? Do they see these characters as role
models? One has to wonder if they believe that if they mimic how these characters look and act they
will belong and then they, too, can have the same outcome the characters do. How many times have
you walked down the street and seen an 8 or 9 year old girl wearing something that might be more
appropriate if worn by an adult? Females between the ages of 9 12 read fashion and beauty magazines,
and their exposure to these ideal images coincides with a period in their lives where self regard and
self efficacy is in decline. This is the same time period where body image is tied to self esteem and it
becomes quite fragile due to physical changes of puberty. This is also the same time frame where the
tendency for social comparison is at its peak. Girls thus find themselves in a subculture of dieting, due
to the messages given by the media. Over the past 4 weeks I have spoken to many adolescent girls,
ages 9 through 12, who candidly admitted they had already tried dieting. These

Benefits Of Illegal Migrant Workers
Once working in the U.S., undocumented migrant laborers are perfectly exploitable. Because they are
not citizens or on work visas, they essentially have no rights in the minds of some farms. Farms may
provide poor quality housing, but no other work benefits. Agriculture doesn t have to pay hourly
minimum wage, so instead workers are paid by piece rate: employment in which a worker is paid a
fixed rate for each unit produced no matter the time invested. In some areas, farms make it appear that
they are paying laborers minimum wage by requiring laborers to pick enough produce to equal a full
day s pay. Over exhaustion induced by this is typically untreated because of the lack of proper medical
care available to migrant workers; either because of personal funds, or ignorant lenses through which
doctors view Mexican migrant patients (Holmes, 2013, p. 113). Then if a laborer expresses any issues
to their employers, employers will use the labor s undocumented status against them. Essentially, they
ll threaten the laborer with deportation if the laborer were to make any action against the farm because
of labor rights violations first hand manipulation of the social divides of labor.
Yet, if the conditions of this job are so poor, and the laborers severely exploited, why do people still
choose to make the dangerous journey? The answer is documented in Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies by
Seth Holmes. After spending time working and living with Mexican migrant laborers to better

The Importance Of Art Funding For Education Essay
The Importance of Art Funding
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, art is defined as something that is created with
imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ( Art ). With
that being said, it is almost essential that art is maintained as a general course required for every
student to take. While having art classes in schools available for students is important, it is also
equally as important for the school funding for the art programs to be regulated throughout each
district. By using a simple student to teacher ratio to determine how much money should be allotted to
each teacher, this reoccurring problem could be solved for good.
One of the main problems in the art program throughout the United States is the regulation of funding
within the program. For example, while one teacher has one hundred students and another may have
seventy, the teacher with seventy students gets a budget of five hundred dollars when the teacher with
one hundred gets only three hundred and fifty. On top of that, not only is it unfair to the individual
teachers, but it is also happening all over the United States to teachers in the same district. In an article
about secondary art programs, it states that the art teacher at School Number Two was operating with
78% of the funds as the teacher at School Number One. Because the two schools are within the same
district, this is a difference that seemingly defies explanation (Kraft 55). While

Characteristics Of Alla Turcca
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the well known composer is evidently mentioned in many places. Even
people who do not have experience with musical instruments tend to hear his name everywhere. When
he was 28, he published Sonata in A, K.331, 3rd movement: Rondo Alla Turca. Alla turca or Turkish
March is popular and one of Mozart s many famous pieces. He was also inspired by the Turkish
Janissary Bands when he wrote this hence the name Alla Turca or Turkish March . In this essay, we
are going to discuss about the musical features rhythm, melody and also musical features that played
smaller parts like texture, timbre and characteristics of Alla Turca.
Focusing on the interesting and unique rhythm of this piece in relation to the Turkish Janissary style,
we will know for a fact that the rhythm which is an important element of this piece indeed determines
and differentiates it from the standard classical style of music. Taking into consideration a Turkish
Janissary style, the percussion instruments often play this rhythm.
Turkish soldiers often march to this rhythm of Left..Left..Left,Right..Left

Proceeding on to the third bar, the strong beats which are the b s, gives a sense of the turkish rhythm

in either duple or irregular time so as to make it easier for the turkish soldiers to march in which in this
case Mozart chose to recreate a sense of turkishness in his piece by making the meter of Rondo Alla

  • 2. Decriminalization Of Prostitution Essay There are about 13,828,700 prostitutes in the world; 3 million in China, 2 million in India and 1 million in the United States. Each year in New York City there is 4,200 prostitution arrest, and 5 officers will need to conduct a prostitution sting (a sting operation is an undercover operation designed to catch a person committing a crime or in this case a prostitute). Yet, what even is prostitution? Do we as a people gather the full concept and the reasoning behind why these men and women subject themselves to intercourse for money? The definition of prostitution is an occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Though prostitution is defined as an occupation it is still criminalized by today s society and government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While I agree that child prostitution is a significant global problem, both in developed and undeveloped countries, I must argue the involvement of sex workers. A primary reason why we have a child prostitution increase is due to the criminalization of adult prostitution. When a sexually ambitious person cannot find an adult sex worker, they would turn to pimps, who mostly use underage sex workers, to satisfy their sexual urges. By keeping sex work illegal, victims of sex trafficking are less likely to go to the police out of fear of being arrested, also, sex trafficking victims are often treated like criminals. Sadly, 100,000 children are forced into prostitution every year in America. But at the same time, there is evidence to support that legalizing prostitution reduces sex trafficking. In 2001, Germany legalized sex work. Over the course of the next 10 years, instances of sex based human trafficking decreased by 10 percent within the country. Working with instead of against sex workers will lead to more slaves being rescued. In Germany, it already is. While prohibitionists claim that legalizing prostitution has increased human trafficking in the country, the data doesn t support them. Proclaimed by Cathy Reisenwitz of the Daily ... • 3. Reflection On Negotiation Simulation The negotiation simulation was a very informative and interesting assignment from beginning to end. The practical application was unlike anything else we ve been required to complete thus far in our program. The ability to openly engage in a mock negotiation was very insightful, and allowed me to further develop an understanding of the intricate underworking s of the personal interactions and preparations that define how the negotiation unfolds. I enjoyed the insight into the perspective of the union s side of negotiation, as I typically assume a perspective from management when considering negotiations and their implications. This allowed me to understand the viewpoint and strategies accompanying the union s side of the negotiation, which could prove invaluable to me in the future. During the negotiation process, I learned many important lessons. Primarily I learned that no matter how straightforward you believe your facts are, there is multiple ways to interpret statistics and facts, as well as, a plethora of metrics that measure similar variables. In other words, I learned the importance of being prepared to deal with a variety of scenarios and opposing bargaining strategies. This came into play during the negotiation of my article of paid vacations. When negotiating this article, I prepared using primarily the statistics provided in the excel files. I used the numbers of weeks of vacation in relation to the seniority and compared this metric to that of the other 17 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Concepts Of Hinduism And Buddhism The Concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism (Name) (Course name) (Instructors name) (Date of submission) The Concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism Buddhism and Hinduism have common roots: both religions have arisen in India. However, over long history of its formation, Buddhism has absorbed traditions of many civilizations of the East. It was not just a religion. This teaching is about personal enlightenment and contemplation of spirit. This awakening of soul has no reference to God. According to Hindu teachings, the whole world is a samsara. It consists of endless series of rebirths, where life is a suffering and stagnancy. The world around is an illusion. Nevertheless, beyond samsara exists a real world, which is ruled by the ... Buddhism professes this principle in opportunities to attain the supreme grace. It does not appreciate caste society. In addition, Buddhism is focusing solely on the individual and his conscience. Hinduism is an amorphous religion. It has no single founder, does not constitute a single religion with specific dogma, and consists of many apprenticeships which have the same roots, but often include contradictory. Buddhism has a clear doctrine, though it is not a dogma. This movement is a system of philosophical knowledge. Generally, Hinduism is a national religion of Indians. Hinduism is unthinkable outside its boundries. Buddhism is a religion that is non national. It involves people with different cultural traditions. Buddhists have their own cultural and educational centers, their ideology. Buddhism, preaches social and political indifference. In practice, they made a huge contribution to the organization of society and its ethno political awareness of their values. Managing The Global Financial System In today s financial world systems, methods have been developing exponentially that reduce risk and increase the profits of investors who are financially able and willing to commit funds to investments, becoming part of the global financial system. The methods are sophisticated and require financial experts who are entrusted to make the right choices in arranging the best investment plans that will benefit these investors. One of these increasingly popular methods is asset securitization. Measures in the application of this particular method have been improving, especially since the market crash of 2008. For example, in the United States, farm railroad mortgage bonds were some of the earliest forms of securities. Later, in 1970, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development created the first modern residential mortgage backed security, creating the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA or Ginnie Mae). Some years later, the model developed in securitization of mortgage backed loans was also applied to non mortgage assets such as automobile loans and credit card sales by banks. In the 1990s, the life insurance and reinsurance (catastrophe coverage) markets began using securitization. Securitization in in the reinsurance markets played an important role after Hurricane Katrina. As mentioned before, there are certain steps which take advantage of this method of financial structure. First, if there is a company that wants to obtain financing through securitization, that company will start by identifying assets that can be used to raise funds. These assets typically represent rights to payments at future dates and are usually referred to as receivables. The company that owns the receivable is usually called the originator. In this process, the risk that these payments many not be made on time is an important factor in valuing the receivables. In this factor, emphasis and confidence is place on the originator, who must reasonably predict the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle One of the most popular authors of all time is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. His work is still used as a base for many different types of media made today. There are dozens of books, television shows, and movies patterned after his most well known series starring Sherlock Holmes, who was first introduced in the book A Study in Scarlet. This character that he created has become a household name in not only his home country but the rest of the world as well. Unlike most past authors, Doyle s work was popular while he was alive, although not for the reasons that he preferred. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859 to Charles and Mary Doyle in Edinburgh, Scotland. Despite his strict Irish Catholic upbringing, Doyle owes much of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Soon after his first marriage in 1886, Doyle, a then struggling author, wrote a mystery novel now known as A Study in Scarlet. This work was published in Beeton s Christmas Annual and was the first of sixty appearances of the famed detective, Sherlock Holmes. The following years, Doyle would become very active in the Spiritualist movement from 1887 to 1916 for which he wrote three books. Despite this, he was most widely known for his Sherlock Holmes series. In fact, Doyle attempts to kill off the character of Holmes in one of his books in order to focus more on Spiritualist writings, but was forced to revive the character in order to get more money for his missionary work. Two years before his death in 1930, Doyle published a compilation of twelve stories about Sherlock Holmes entitled The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes ( Arthur Conan Doyle ). A Study in Scarlet follows Dr. John Watson, a veteran of the Afghan war who is now trying to fit back into London society. An old friend of his sends him in the direction of a man named Sherlock Holmes who is looking for a roommate. Soon after settling in, Holmes reveals to Watson what he does for a living, helping the police solve crimes as a consulting detective. All heterotopic cardiac xenotransplantation s were done without any technical difficulty or perioperative complications. In contrast, both IgM and IgG non Gal antibodies were increased when xenograft rejection was triggered by withdrawal of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody in a previous experiment (4). Besides our earlier report, Anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment is also shown to be associated with the prevention of induced anti pig humoral immune response in pig hematopoietic cell transplantation in baboon (18). We have previously reported a shorter cardiac xenograft survival (median 71 days) from GTKO.hCD46 donor pigs along with anti CD154 antibody based immunosuppression (2). Perhaps by using clinically available anti CD154 antibody along with GE pigs expressing hTBM will allow faster clinical transition. However, Anti CD154 antibody has been shown to cause thromboembolic complications which may limit its clinical application. Anti CD40(2C10R4) antibody blocks the same CD40/CD154 pathway without causing thromboembolism and has also been shown to prolong the graft survival in both the xeno and allotransplantation setting by us (4) and others (12) (19) but this agent is not currently approved for clinical use. In our recently reported study (4), low doses of anti CD40 (2C10R4) antibody treatment and early withdrawal it from the immunosuppressive regimen resulted in poor xenograft outcome (20). • 9. Proper Level Of Segregation Between Audit And Non Audit... Abstract Abstract:The purpose of this research paper is to discuss the proper level of segregation between audit and non audit services, to ensure independence and instill public confidence. In the wake of numerous accounting scandals of Enron, WorldCom, etc, the importance of auditor independence has been brought to the forefront of the accounting profession. The U.S. Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has taken a strict stance on auditor independence, which signifies that an auditor cannot provide business advisory services without impeding their autonomy. However, an analysis of the current auditor client relationship reveals contradictions to the interpretation of absolute auditor independence. In recent developments, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, AICPA s Code of Professional Conduct contains over 200 pages of interpretive guidance on the topic of independence alone. The AICPA and PCAOB stress heavily on the importance of auditor independence, and for good reason. Financial statement users trust independent auditors ability to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement, whether caused by error or fraud. (AU C 200.06) Auditor independence is required to instill public confidence in U.S. financial markets. Thus, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has a strict view on independence in both fact and appearance. In AU 220.01, PCAOB states that an auditor must be without bias with respect to the client. More specifically, an independent auditor must be free from any obligation to or interest in the client, its management, or its owners. (AU 220.03) This strict interpretation of auditor independence was adopted as a means to restore public confidence in U.S. financial markets following the Enron, Waste Management, and other frauds in the early 2000 s. Unfortunately, the concept of strict auditor independence may be impossible in today s public accounting environment. There are several environmental factors that influence perceived auditor independence. The underlying fee structure for accounting firms that audit public companies prohibits complete auditor client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Significance Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By... Love is a powerful motivator in the world. While love isn t tangible, it is all around us in the world. In our hearts or in others it is rare to find a place lacking in it. As such, it is not hard to presume that love too, is a common occurrence in prose. For many, love may consume their entire being: their thoughts, their actions and their time. For them it is a duty an obligation an office that must be fulfilled. Such is the case in Robert Hayden s poem Those Winter Sundays, Hayden uses the father and the speaker as a tangible embodiment of how unrequited and harsh love can be. Hayden tells us more in what he doesn t say then what he says or as Johnson says, for everything the poem says, there is something else that remains unspoken (Johnson). This premise is true throughout all the poem and becomes quite apparent if the agent s (the father s) actions are put under scrutiny. Unfortunately, it can be hard to determine the significance behind the actions without context. For example, Sunday too my father got up early, with just a glancing look it seems to be a kind action, but nothing showing true devotion and love (Hayden). Despite this, one must recognize that the Hayden is implying that the father got up on early on other days as well as Sunday. To make this act even more impressionable Landau explains that, Sunday has been regarded as a day of rest, but the speaker s father, trapped in his role as father, is not able to observe this convention (Landau). • 11. A Hostile Witness On The Indian Evidence Act The term hostile witness is not defined in the Indian Evidence Act, 1872. Yet, provisions are present in the Act which deal with the quandary. According to Section 132 of the Act, the witness has to answer questions even if the answers to such questions will or can criminate the witness or expose the witness to a penalty or forfeiture. The proviso states that such an answer cannot subject the witness to any arrest or prosecution except a prosecution for providing false evidence. Thus, the protection accorded under the proviso does not extend to giving false evidence. Section 154 of the Act provides for impeachment of credit of the witness by the party who calls such a witness. This may be done with the Court s discretion. The party can put any question to the witness which might be put by the opposite party in a cross examination. The party which is so permitted is not disallowed from relying on the any part of evidence provided by the hostile witness. This helps the party to extract the truth. This is one of the prime remedies that a party has against a hostile witness. The wide discretion that is conferred upon the Court is to be used after due application of mind. In order to see if the witness has indeed turned hostile, statements made to the police officer can be relied on by virtue of Section 162 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It has been held that some material should be present to prove that the witness has gone back from his earlier statement or has shown ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1778, Napoleon began his education at Autun and later attended school in Brienne, excelling in mathematics and science. Following a year s study at the Ecole Militaire in Paris, he was commissioned in the artillery in 1785. The year 1789 saw the outbreak of the French revolution, which created an atmosphere of opportunity that would not have existed under the Bourbons, and Napoleon was to make the most of it. He signed a Concordat with the Pope in 1801 which restored religion to France, but his greatest achievement was the Civil Code which in part is still used today. His growing popularity resulted in his being proclaimed Emperor in 1804. At the coronation, Napoleon crowned himself, taking the crown from the Pope in a symbolic manner to show that power stemmed from the state and not the church as with previous monarchs. It was an uneasy peace however, and plans were made to invade Britain by crossing the English Channel, but these were abandoned when Napoleon marched his highly trained Grand Armée into central Europe to meet the converging forces of Austria and Russia. Capturing a large part of the Austrian army at Ulm, Napoleon crossed the Danube to face the remaining Austrians and the Russians at Austerlitz. The result was a decisive victory known as the Battle Of Three Emperors on 2 December 1805. Austria sued for peace, but a new coalition was formed of Britain, Russia and Prussia. Napoleon defeated the Prussians at Jena in 1806, and the Russians at Friedland in 1807. Following these victories, Napoleon was at the pinnacle of his career. With a great display of pomp he met the Tsar of Russia at Tilsit and a new Franco/Russian alliance was born. In her article, she talks about how the right to speak freely is not the same as the right to rob others of their voices. The heckler s veto is defined as the suppression of speech in order to appease disruptive, hostile, or threatening members of the audience, (Gillman, Chemerinsky). • 17. Neuroscience Of The Nervous System Vigen Karchyan Neuroscience Neuroscience, commonly referred to as Neural Science, is the study of the way the nervous system develops, how it is structured and the functions of it. Scientists put emphasis on the brain and the impact it has on behavior and cognitive functions. These scientists approach a closer look on the reactions the nervous system has when humans have neurological, psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders. The entire concept of neuroscience is addressed as a subdivision of biology. It is applied to chemistry, cognitive science, engineering, mathematics, linguistics and more. Scientists say that neuroscience is identical as neurobiology but there is a difference between the two conceptions. Neurobiology focuses mainly on the biology of the nervous system and neuroscience emphasizes on any portion of the nervous system. Neuroscientists have various fields of study that include cellular, functional, computational and medical aspects of the nervous system. The history of neuroscience dates back and the Ancient Egyptians believed that intelligence rooted from the heart. Throughout the process of mummification, they detached the brain but left the heart inside of the body. Herodotus, a Greek historian that lived up until 425BC, claimed the most perfect practice is to extract as much of the brain as possible with an iron hook, and what the hook cannot reach is mixed with drugs. The first instance is when he states, Mr. Chairman I would like to share the stories of three children one from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to give the committee a sense of the reality of the violence they are fleeing: (p. 190). The simple thought of hearing these children s stories evokes emotions of sympathy. It seems as if Descartes believes that reason is rational, objective thought whereas senses are subjective thoughts. Even if reason tells people that the sky is red, our senses say otherwise and no amount of reason can persuade what one can see right in front of them. I would have to, therefore, disagree with Descartes, reason varies from individual to individual and also depending on situations and circumstances. This quote does relate to today s morals and humanity specifically in the justice system. In the court system the United States relies on some level of reasonable doubt. Jurors use reasonings to analyze facts and determine a verdict without relying on their senses, despite not being at the scene of a crime or incident. Foster s novel How to Read Literature like a Professor, he analyzes what a Christ figure looks like in literature. He argues that a character who shares personality traits and or physical characteristics with Christ is a representation and reflection of Jesus. Similarly, in Barbara Kingsolver s novel The Poisonwood Bible, her character Nathan Price believes he is synonymous to Christ while in reality, he is far from perfect. She uses irony to exploit the idea of the Christ figure. The use of irony as seen in Kingsolver s novel, up ends Foster s claims as to what makes a Christ figure by creating a character who assumes he is Christ yet does not reflect Christ s attributes. A Christ figure represents the attributes of Christ in the way they live. Foster expands on this idea by arguing a list of characteristics regarding Jesus. As readers, he claims, while we may not be all that versed in types and archetypes from the Bible, we generally recognize, whatever our religious affiliation, some of the features that make Christ who he is (Foster 125). If Christ s attributes reflect themselves in a character, readers can use their knowledge to assume the character is a Christ figure. Because they are not citizens or on work visas, they essentially have no rights in the minds of some farms. Farms may provide poor quality housing, but no other work benefits. Agriculture doesn t have to pay hourly minimum wage, so instead workers are paid by piece rate: employment in which a worker is paid a fixed rate for each unit produced no matter the time invested. • 34. The Importance Of Art Funding For Education Essay The Importance of Art Funding According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, art is defined as something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ( Art ). With that being said, it is almost essential that art is maintained as a general course required for every student to take. While having art classes in schools available for students is important, it is also equally as important for the school funding for the art programs to be regulated throughout each district. By using a simple student to teacher ratio to determine how much money should be allotted to each teacher, this reoccurring problem could be solved for good. One of the main problems in the art program throughout the United States is the regulation of funding within the program. For example, while one teacher has one hundred students and another may have seventy, the teacher with seventy students gets a budget of five hundred dollars when the teacher with one hundred gets only three hundred and fifty. On top of that, not only is it unfair to the individual teachers, but it is also happening all over the United States to teachers in the same district. In an article about secondary art programs, it states that the art teacher at School Number Two was operating with 78% of the funds as the teacher at School Number One.
