Family History Essay
Crafting a "Family History Essay" can be both a deeply personal and challenging endeavor.
Delving into the intricacies of one's family history requires not only a keen understanding of
genealogy but also the ability to weave a compelling narrative that transcends mere facts and
dates. Unraveling the layers of one's familial past can evoke a myriad of emotions, from
nostalgia to introspection, and even moments of revelation.
The difficulty arises in striking the right balance between presenting a factual account of your
family's history and infusing the narrative with a sense of coherence and engagement. It's not
just about listing names, dates, and events but about uncovering the underlying stories that have
shaped your family's identity. This demands a nuanced approach to research, as well as the
ability to connect the dots between seemingly disparate elements.
Moreover, writing about one's family history often involves confronting both the highs and lows
of the past. Tackling sensitive issues or navigating through complex family dynamics can be
emotionally taxing. Striking a tone that is respectful, honest, and reflective adds an additional
layer of difficulty to the task.
Additionally, there's the challenge of organizing the information coherently. The narrative must
flow seamlessly, guiding the reader through different eras and generations without losing focus
or succumbing to a mere recitation of facts. Creating a structure that is both logical and engaging
requires careful planning and thoughtful consideration of the overall theme and purpose of the
essay.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing a family history essay can be immensely
rewarding. It allows for a deeper understanding of one's roots and an appreciation for the
interconnectedness of family stories. In overcoming the obstacles, the writer not only gains a
sense of accomplishment but also contributes to the preservation of familial legacy.
In conclusion, while writing a family history essay may be a demanding task, the insights gained
and the connections forged with one's roots make it a valuable and worthwhile endeavor. If you
find yourself overwhelmed, there are resources available to assist you. Similar essays and much
more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, offering support for those navigating the intricate
path of family history exploration.

During one of the darkest periods in BC history, several members of the 1978 79

The University of Michigan basketball scandal or Ed Martin scandal was a series of
National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) rules violations that resulted in a
six year investigation of the relationship between the University of Michigan, its men

investigation, the Wolverine men s basketball program was punished with sanctions.
The violations principally involved payments booster Martin made to several players

.1Explain the characteristics, requirements and purposes of different types of events.
Events are a good way of making a lot of people aware of a particular subject matter.
These can be formal or informal and require a large amount of preparation.
Generally events are held over a longer period of time than a meeting and include a
larger audience. They can be held at various venues such as a marquee, a hotel
with conference facilities or in the open air. They can involve members of your
organisation, members of other organisations or the general public. The different
purposes of holding an event could be for an exhibition a trade show or fundraisers
which are generally held on a large scale. Product launches and team events are
another type of event. Please see 6.4 for further details.

From this you can then arrange for a venue. A plan is then needed of what
information is going to communicated and who will present this, will it be just 1
presenter or a number of different people. Will any films / videos be shown, will it
be interactive. Invitations should be sent out plenty of time before the event so that
you can gauge how many people are likely to attend. A number of people will be
required to help set up the venue with tables, chairs, refreshments and other facilities.
You should consider whether anyone requires an overnight stay and whether this will
be paid for by the company or by the individual. Confirmation of the venue should be
sought a month before the actual date of the event to avoid any
Siddhartha Analysis Paper
Time does not exist; love is eternal; death brings peace. Siddhartha illustrates each of
these themes in the novel, Siddhartha. Throughout his life, Siddhartha is very
independent. For example, Siddhartha demonstrates self determination when he
leaves his overbearing father to begin the life of the Samanas (Hesse 10). There, he
escapes from the physical world to soon realize that enlightenment cannot come from
ignoring the world around him. He decides to follow the Buddha and learn his
teachings; however, he is unsuccessful. As Siddharthagoes through his
unaccompanied journey towards Enlightenment, he comes to realize that he must let
his loved ones go and that each man must find the way by himself (Malthaner 3).

After his experiences, Siddhartha comprehends that he is not capable of
individualistic love and decides to abandon Kamala. Later, he meets her again, but
now she is not alone. While Kamala takes a journey with her son to visit the dying
Buddha, she gets bitten by a poisonous snake and perishes. He loses Kamala s love
but hopes to gain the love of his son. Unfortunately, he never does. Siddhartha treats
his son with consideration and respect although he realizes the boy has been
spoiled by a wealthy lifestyle. He unsuccessfully tries to win over the love of his
son, but his love is not mutual. Young Siddhartha soon runs away towards the
village to continue his life without his controlling father. Although Siddhartha
understands that he must let him go, his love for his son is overwhelming; he
cannot bear to let the boy go. After speaking with Vasudeva, the Ferryman, and
learning from the river, Siddhartha learns to accept the loss of love. Now,
Siddhartha has gained wisdom and understanding of love universal love.
Enlightenment cannot exist without love, for love is the most important thing in
the world (Hesse 147). Through Kamala and his son he has learned that one must
love the world, not despise it (Hesse 147). At first, love is portrayed as an immoral
feeling and thought of as an obstacle in his journey to reach Nirvana. Later,
Siddhartha learns that one must love to prosper and that love is what keeps the world
alive. In conclusion,
Becoming A Professional Electrical Electronics Engineer
We ve made great advances in the last century, innovating at an astonishing speed.
But unfortunately, it seems as if in the last decade, the rate of innovation has
slowed down considerably. Every new product is just an iteration of the last
iteration, with no defining jumps in technology but only incremental changes.
With the snail paced recovery of the economy and a looming global warming crisis,
America needs more engineers if it wants to stay the dominant nation that it is
today and if it wants to make sure that the future of its children is safe, prosperous,
and pollutant free. None too often it is the small ideas from engineers that create
sparks in the economy and keep this great nation of ours going. As distinguished
professor Michael Schiffer would say, engineers have the ability to symbolize
technological prowess and modernity (4). I plan on joining this distinguished group
of innovators. I want to become a professional electrical electronics engineer, to
acquire the knowledge and the skills to be able to run my own consumer electronics
company one day; Becoming a professional electrical electronics engineer will allow
me to work on providing clean energy for my parents hometown of New Takoradi.
Becoming a professional electronics electrical engineer is not an easy task
whatsoever. Although this process is challenging and time consuming, I know I have
the patience, the discipline, and the determination to make it through. Based on the

Promiscuity Vs Sexual Addiction
Human Sexual promiscuity has been around since the existence of Human Beings. To
clearly understand and define sexual promiscuity there must be a distinction made
between the difference between sexual promiscuity and sexual addiction because they
are controversially close in definition. Looking at the word sexual addiction itself any
scholar would then presume that with addiction in the word, the definition would
then be: a person pathologically habituated to sexual behaviors. In comparison,
promiscuity is similar, defined with the same definition based upon different societal
standards, genders and civil status.

Fundamental Analysis Ever hear someone say that a company has strong
fundamentals ? The phrase is so overused that it s become somewhat of a clichГ©.
Any analyst can refer to a company s fundamentals without actually saying
anything meaningful. So here we define exactly what fundamentals are, how and
why they are analyzed, and why fundamental analysis is often a great starting point
to picking good companies. The Theory Doing basic fundamental valuation is
quite straightforward; all it takes is a little time and energy. The goal of analyzing
a company s fundamentals is to find a stock s intrinsic value, a fancy term for what
you believe a stock is really worth as opposed to the value at which it is being traded
in the marketplace. If the intrinsic value is more than the current share price, your
analysis is showing that the stock is worth more than its price and that it makes sense
What I Learned in the Women and Gender Studies Class
I have a very vivid memory of discussing my classes to my mother before this first
semester began, and whenever I listed off my Women and Gender Studies class I
remember my mother asking me, What do you think you are going to learn about
in there? I recall opening my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. I
stopped, and looked at her and said, You know, I m not really sure. I guess we will
find out! I knew going in to this class I was excited, but for what I had no clue.
However, looking back on my experiences, discussions, and the knowledge I have
gained from this course, I know exactly why I was excited. There is an entire world

The day I was hired a guy named Justin was also hired; he was manager within two
months. Three months after I was hired a guy named Tommy was hired; he was a

cent raise. I remember talking about becoming a manager with our store owner
(also a man) and he said, I promote people to managers who have mastered all parts
of the store, and who are good leaders. The guy Justin that I previously mentioned,
couldn t even make a pizza. Women were not hired or promoted into positions that
required enforcement and leadership, and this happening everywhere! Women can
see that promotion, they can almost taste it, but somehow the man always gets it.
One of my favorite assignments throughout the course was the midterm. I absolutely
loved the documentary Half the Sky specifically because it truly opened your eyes
to so many transnational issues. Issues that were not isolated to a specific village or
city, but problems that were worldwide. The hardest part of the documentary for me
to watch personally was the sections discussing human trafficking. China, Cambodia,
and Syria are just some of the countries where sex/human trafficking is a
predominant issue. People typically women are kidnapped, or sold by their families
and then sold to brothels to work as prostitutes. Other forms of human

Based on the changing electronic industry and business demands, Custom Molds
should correct major issues by adopting the following recommendations. The
molding process should focus on small batch sizes and purchase more small and
customizable machines. More workers should be hired to oversee the production
since there is more labor needed to prepare the machine for each customized mold.
The plastic parts process should focus on few but large capacity specialized
machines. Fewer workers will be needed to oversee this process because there are
few setting changes needed. To control the problem of late deliveries, a better
communication system between offices should be implemented so workers do not
need to walk back and forth between offices. Orders should also be accepted based
on the ability to complete the product in the time that is promised to the customer.
More efficient communication between all departments would result in a more
accurate estimated delivery time. To control errors resulting in defective parts,
Custom Molds should invest in moving the testing center to a more centrally located
area. More frequent testing and less walking will increase efficiency and decrease
defective products. An alternative option to the recommendations listed, is for
Custom Molds Inc. to evaluate the market for the products they produce and to
decide to make either molds or plastic parts. The key factors that should be

Argumentative Essay On Indian Food
The United States has pride in being a melting pot of different cultures and ideas.
With such great cultures comes the best part: food. In any given area in the United
States, you can find different cuisines ranging from Italian to Chinese. For this
activity, I chose to convince four friends to try Indian food with me. Indian food
typically does not appeal to Americans because we perceive the amount of spices
used in the cuisine as excessive. However, I believe in expanding tastes and trying
new foods just for the sake of it. Where do you want to eat? is a question asked
where the response is too often I do not know. To be honest, I am always the person
with that response; however, when this question arose earlier this week, I actually
had a response. Let s try Indian food! My friends looked at me as if I was crazy. It s
not typical of me to have a response especially one that is exotic. They were all
unsure of trying Indian food because it was unfamiliar to them. Because it was a
group of four people, I knew I had to get at least one person to agree with me, and
everyone else would come out of peer pressure. I looked at my friend Taya who
had briefly mentioned that she would want to try Indian food a few months ago. I
used Cialdini s commitment principle to remind her of what she had said before.
Taya remembered what she had said, but was not expecting me to suggest Indian
food. She agreed to come after thinking about it, but I still had to convince three more
Challenges Facing The International Community Essay
Introduction
Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way wrote Leo Tolstoy in the opening
page of Anna Karenina. Similarly it can be said that each so called fragile state is
fragile in its own way. Fragile states pose a distinct security risk for the international
community. According to OECD report on fragile states (2015),by failing in their
responsibility to provide basic services to their people, they cause mass migration and
act as havens for terrorism and illicit trade. According to the same report statebuilding
interventions in fragile states are undertaken because, without addressing state
fragility, poverty reduction is not achievable and that state fragility will have a major
impact on global poverty.
In the following analysis, I will try to explore the challenges the international
community, led by the US, face in its state building efforts in Afghanistan. Standing at
the border between central and south asia, Afghanistan has a chequered and violent
recent history. Acting as a buffer zone between British and Russian colonialism in
the 18th and 19th century (Marsden 2009, p 72), Afghanistan became completely
independent from British rule in the 1920s. During the reign of Zahir Shah ( 1933
1973), the country enjoyed relative peace and a process of modernization was under
way in the kemalist model (Rashid 2000, p 76). However, in the 1970s Afghanistan
saw military coup, communist takeover and a Soviet invasion. In the late 1970s, the

The Lady With The Dog Chekhov
A Town of Lust Imagine an adult male or female not in a relationship, looking for a
lustful experience. The resort Yalta in Russia is filled with many men and women
looking for lust. Some men and women such as the ones in the short story, The Lady
with the Dog , written by Anton Chekhov, are willing to commit a sinful act against
their significant other. The main characters, Dmitri Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna,
have an affair in Yalta. Although they partake in this detestable act, they never
inform their spouses about the affair. First off, the story takes place in Yalta, a
Russian resort renowned for its lust and sinful pleasures. The stories of the
immorality in such places as Yalta are to a great extent untrue , ...the tempting
thought of a swift, fleeting love affair, a romance, with an unknown woman, whose
name he did not know, suddenly took possession of him. (Chekhov 166). This
evidence shows that Yalta proves to be a place of lust, changing the way Dimitri
thinks. The Character Anna is married to an important person many people would
not imagine cheating on. A place that can convince a woman to cheat on her husband
is a very influential place. Given the time period the story is published, December
1899, the reader can assume that this type of behavior was not acceptable.... Show

The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari
The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari, directed by Robert Wiene first made its appearance in
1920. The film is considered one of the most defining German expressionist film out
of the Avant garde cinema movement. The film became a template for future films
that is horror based and also influenced the film style of film noirs with its lighting.
With its gothic tone that pays homage to expressionistic paintings that depicts human
emotions, the film shows us a place that is distorted and twisted through the narration
of the film s deranged character. I will explore how the film show us the various
stylistic elements that is associated with expressionist films and how this helped to
create the distorted looking world through the vision of a madman.
After the Germans loses in World War I, the American government was in control of
the art of expressionism that is occurring in Germany at the same time. Reality for
them was intolerable and therefore to escape this insufferable reality, they turned to
arts. This reality was the fact that after their loss, they were traumatised by it and
could not fathom the fact of their economic depression, the colonising of American
culture and their politics. They used this arts to express their inner feelings and that is
why German expressionism is associated with the human emotions.
The film tells the story of the crazy hypnotist Dr.Caligari through the narration of
Francis. Francis and his friend Alan, meets Caligari at a carnival in their town. Part

Maintenance of genomic integrity is crucial for cell survival in resistance to
endogenous and exogenous environmental insults to the genetic material. Multiple
DNA repair pathways coordinate the response to such genotoxins and protect our
genome [1]. Endogenous insults may be generated as a byproduct of cellular
metabolism in the form of reactive oxygen species or during physiological processes
such as meiotic recombination, mating type switching in yeasts, V(D)J recombination
and DNA replication transcription collision [2 5]. Exogenous stresses include
hypoxia, radiation and dietary carcinogens [6, 7]. Depending on the nature of damage
to the DNA structure which, may range from breaks in phosphodiester bonds such ...

NER is a highly conserved DNA repair pathway that is the primary pathway
responsible for the removal of bulky DNA lesions i.e., helix distorting lesions such
as UV induced photoproducts, environmental mutagens, and some
chemotherapeutic agents. NER has two distinct subtypes: global genome repair
(GG NER), which can occur anywhere in the genome and transcription coupled
repair (TC NER), which removes distorting lesions that obstruct transcription [20,
21]. Following lesion recognition, the damage containing oligonucleotide is
excised from DNA by a dual enzyme incision step mediated by ERCC1 XPF, which
makes the first incision and XPG which incises the 3 end of single/double strand
junction [22]. This results in the release of lesion containing oligonucleotide with
TFIIH bound to it [23]. The gap filling step in NER relies on the concerted action of
DNA ligase and its cofactors DNA polymerases Оґ and Оµ, the sliding clamp PCNA,
the clamp loader RFC and RPA [24]. MMR is a is a highly conserved post replication
repair pathway that corrects DNA mismatches generated during DNA replication that
escapes the proofreading function of DNA polymerases thereby preventing mutations
and tumorigenesis [25 27]. MutSО± recognizes the mismatches and MutLО± forms

Edward James Olmos Accomplishments
Edward James Olmos was a very well known actress and producer. Olmos got his
big break when he performed in the stage production of Zoot Suit in 1978. He then
reprised the role that he had in the 1981 film version. From there, his career took

the television cast of Miami Vice . Olmos career began to grow more and more,
and he than starred in the television series Battlestar Galactica for about six years.
Olmos would search for purposeful projects, and would decline any that he felt took

Giles Corey Words In The Crucible
The Meaning Of Giles Corey s Words The dying words of Giles Corey are More
Weight ,why he may have said this is unknown to those of deaf ears, but I have an
idea on what Giles Corey meant. At the beginning of the story when Abigail went to
greet him,we can see that she was trying to bring him back into the adulterous world
again. And when she couldn t get him to love her again, thus the plot began. As I read
further,I notice that Abigail was doing things to cause mischief and chaos, even as far
as blaming Tituba for the reason of witchcraft. The reason that Giles Corey s words
acts as a foil to John Proctor s character is because John Proctor was nearly like an
unbreakable wall, his wall started to fall because it was his
Once More For The Lake By Elwyn Brooks White
In Elwyn Brooks White s Once More to the Lake , a personal narrative essay, the
lake serves as the setting for both the past and the present. White reflects on the
memories of his childhood when his father took him to the lake, and he then
explains how he is now taking his son to the same lake. He describes a dual
existence of spending time with his son, and this then creates a sense of confusion
making it hard for White to distinguish himself from his son. In Urrea s Life on the
Mississippi , he relates his childhood to the characters in the writings of Mark Twain.
He talks about the memories of reading the books he had as a child, which his
mother and father stole for him from the bookstore, and how he used the stories in
his own life by using his imagination. Where both stories talk about memories of
their childhood and how they reflect on the memories, they are different in the
reasons why they bring up the memories. Although E.B White s Once More to the
Lake and Urrea s Life on the Mississippi discuss memories, they focus on different
purposes behind these memories, however they both use the same tone to address
their audience. Whites purpose of writing Once More to the Lake is to illustrate and
show his readers that the way his vacation with his son evokes powerful sensory
memories that makes him struggle with an internal battle of letting go of his
childhood. White constantly refers to the way his son reminds him of himself when
he was younger going on this
Color In Eilis s Life
The colors in this film signify so much more than just clothes or landscape, colors
seem to signify significant moments in Eilis s life. I think that we all subconsciously
wear certain colors when we are feeling a certain way, I know that even on some level
we do it consciously, like for example when you go to a wedding you cannot wear
white, or when you go to a funeral you usually wear black. Especially in a time like
the 1950 s when women really only wore dresses, their only way of looking
different would be to wear colorful dresses or the makeup on their faces. The film
starts out with Eilis in Ireland and her colors seem rather dull, like grey and she is
not wearing an ounce of makeup. It really helps to show you how boring and dismal...

Blue is supposedly most strongly associated with tranquility and a sense of calm,
which is what you would hope to feel when the guy you are with asks you to move
into together. She did not hesitate when he asked, she was simply taking in the area
and all of the surroundings and she knew that is where she was meant to be. This
is another strange aspect of this film because it makes Eilis seem like she is a very
independent young woman, and in a time like the 1950 s she would not probably
have been as independent and been making all of these decisions on her own.
Another peculiar behavior is when she decides to invite Tony into her room and she
initiates the sexual interaction, which is very irregular for this time period.
However after her and Tony had sex for the first time she is seen wearing a yellow
dress, yellow is associated with happiness, intellect, energy, and yellow produces a
warming effect. Yellow stimulates mental activity. Eilis is finally moving away
from Ireland and her family the more time she spends with Tony, for this time
period the man being such a large part of Eilis s life is not surprising in any way.
The 1950 s women were very concerned about becoming wives and being mothers,
so when she finally felt happy and content to be away from home it had to be a man
that was making the transition so

Inequality In Virginia Woolf
We are all created equal, but we are not treated as equals. We like to believe that
everyone is equal, but society doesn t treat everyone as what they were when
created, equal. Virginia Woolf writes of society s inequality through describing two
meals from two different colleges. What mattered was neither where the college was
nor the name of it, but what mattered was that one was for men and the other for
women. Woolf was was served one mealfrom the colleges and there were some
striking differences. Through her writing, Woolf s use of vocabulary, tone, and
emotional appeal help support her attitude that women aren t treated equal compared
to men. In reading both passages, there is a clear difference in her vocabulary for
describing the meals. Here, however, I shall take the liberty to defy that convention
and to tell you that the lunchon this occasion began with soles, sunk in deep dish,
over which the college cook had spread a counterpane of the whitest cream, save
that it was branded here and there with brown spots like the spots on the flanks of a
doe (Woolf, Passage1, Sentence 4). Here was the soup. It was a plain gravy soup.
There was nothing to stir the fancy in that (Woolf, Passage 2, Sentence 6 8). Not
only was there a change in vocabulary, but there was also a change in the length of
her sentences. Woolf s experience in the men s college was given a lot of detail
compared to her experience in the women s college. We can infer, from her
vocabulary, that the

players. Social networks affect economic outcomes because it affects the flow and
quality of information. Also, individuals use social contracts and networks already in
place in order to invest in each other. Immigrant entrepreneurs rely on the
communities of individuals within their cultural and ethnic group for venture start up
and continuity of business. Immigrant business owners use mutual trust and informal
relationships in order to gain financial start up and knowledge. Many Jamaican
entrepreneurs found that common cultural or ethnic connections have created
networks of support, contacts, financing, infrastructure, and equipment s. Inner group
networking is defined as organized informal networking created by a group who share
with each other their business interests, personal contacts, insider secrets, trade,

Character Analysis Of Tally Youngblood
Dynamic Character: Tally Youngblood The Uglies is a dystopian novel about a
young girl living in a futuristic society with a very controlling government. Scott
Westerfeld s character, Tally Youngblood, is the protagonist of his novel. Tally
changes and progresses as her story is told, making her a very dynamic character.
As you read you discover that she an adolescent who is selfish and will do anything
to become a Pretty , but as her story goes on her traits change from a selfish,
immature, and outspoken girl to a brave, mature, and caring young woman. Tally
Youngbloods characteristics alter so much due to being forced onto a journey into
foreign land to sell out her friend or else her dream of becoming a Pretty will never
come true. Dynamic is a constant change, activity, or progress (Google Dictionary).
This word describes Tally Youngblood perfectly. In the novel the Uglies
, Tally is a
constant evolving character. In the beginning chapters, she expresses how much
she wants to become a Pretty to anyone who will listen. She is very stubborn and
knows exactly she wants; therefore, she will not let anything get in the way of that,
even if that means selling out her best friend. Tally is an immature girl causing
trouble and play tricks in the first half of the novel, but her traits change once she
is put into a position where it is either Dr. Cable s way or no way. She is alone
braving the dangers and elements on her journey outside the city and into the
Smoke. She becomes more brave and intelligent. Tally s journey causes her to
mature and realize that not everything is about becoming a Pretty . Tally
Youngblood is so dynamic because she progresses and changes throughout the
entire novel. Scott Wersterfeld s character, Tally Youngblood, has such a diverse
personality to accommodate with the society she grew up in. Tally grows up in a
futuristic society with a government that trains you to hate yourself, because of this
society she grew up immature, selfish, and self absorbed. All the uglies are not
supposed to want to stay ugly because the one life goal they are intended to have is
to become a Pretty and that is it. Tally s diversity kicks in when she is challenged
and has to put her dream to
Longboarding Vs Longboard Research Paper
The feeling riders get as they are skating around town on a nice sunny day, with all
of their buddies, is one of the best feelings in the world. Many people do not know
this, but there is actually more than one type of skating. The two biggest types are
skateboarding and longboarding. There are many similarities and differences
between the two. The first being the length and style of the deck. Longboards are
generally longer and shaped differently than a regular skateboard. Second, would be
how the board is ridden and the different tricks riders can do on each type of board.
Regardless, people can ride and cruise on either type. The last comparison is the
price difference between the two boards. Most of the time a longboard is more

Most of the time, longboards are more expensive than skateboards because they
have bigger trucks, wheels, and the deck is longer. This is not always the case
though. If a skateboard is more expensive than a longboard, the longboard is more
than likely a cheaper made board with lower quality trucks and wheels. This does
not mean the board is terrible, it just means it was made cheaper so that more
people can afford to buy it. Skateboards are the same way. The good brands of
skateboard decks like Baker, Anti Hero, Plan B, Deathwish, etc... are normally $40
$60. Longboards decks, especially brands like Sector 9, Globe, Landyachtz, etc... can
start at around $75 and can get up to over $200 for just the deck. Even though every
board is different in price, they are all equally as enjoyable to
Buck Call Quotes
The relations between Buck and the human he encounters are marked not
surprisingly, by opposing forces, actions, roles or values: love and hate, master and
slave, uneasy truce and open war, hunter and victim. Buck enters the story in his
sustaining California environment as ruler of all he surveys: he was king, king over
all creeping, crawling flying things of Judge Miller s place, humansincluded. Taken
out of that happy valley, he was starved and mistreated by his captors and then
subdued by the brutal club of a shrewd, red sweated man. The man conquers Buck
and Buck hates him; yet the beating brings with it the curiously ambiguous relation
between master and slave: When the man brought him water he drank eagerly, and
later bolted a generous meal of raw meat, chunk by chunk from the man s hand. Buck
s understanding of humanbeings will henceforth be defined by power and the politic
dispensing of the necessities of life. The next three chapters bring Buck under the
benevolent tutelage of Perrault and Francois, master still, but fair and above all,
schooled in the ways of the North. Buck s own competence increases apace. Though

Bella Hadid Beauty Myth Analysis
The trademark of men
Whether it be walking down your local street or watching T.V. you are constantly
bombarded with beauty ads of the ideal women today. The cultural belief that
women should imprison themselves in their own bodies has been one of many
decades. It is remarkably accepted in our society today, where most of us don t give
much thought to it. As once said by Naomi Wolf, a neo feminist and sociologist s,
women continue to overcome legal and physical obstacles, the more viciously these
brutal images of beauty have added more challenges to women s success(486). This
can also be referred to as the beauty myth . Since the beginning of time women have
been seen as inferior to men, in cultures and values. This Calvin Klein Ad featuring
the well known model Bella Hadid is one of many examples of what kind of
behavior and social structure is trapping and hindering women s progress by
objectifying them in the Beauty Myth.
This Calvin Klein advertisement which appears in Teen Vogues Fall of 2016
magazine features model Bella Hadid who is softly laying on a mirrored surface
against a fire engine red background. There is a mirror which makes two models
emerge in the shot. The image is turned at 90 degree angle which produces the effect
that Hadid is not lying, but rather floating. The model is a thin Caucasian woman
with a youthful glow to her skin. She is topless which reveals her bronze healthy
tan. The only cover up she is wearing are deep blue denim jeans. The model
Beatriz De La Fuente Colossal Heads
The Olmec built these gigantic freestanding sculptures known as Colossal Heads
which were found in San Lorenzo, Veracruz. They are over two meters long and
weigh sixteen tons. They are also known simply as the Olmec heads. There are
different interpretations as to why these heads were built. I belief that the author of
the article Toward a Conception of Monumental OlmecArt, Beatriz de la Fuente, finds
that the harmonic proportions of the Olmec heads symbolize the cosmos. De la
Fuente uses iconography to demonstrate why the Olmec heads were portraits of
someone superior. In the article, The Portrait and the Mask: Invention and
Translation, the author, Esther Pasztory, writes about the effect the Olmec heads
have on the viewer. Pasztory uses visual context to demonstrate how the heads were
something people were, and still are, in awe of.... Show more content on

The Olmec had a worldview and were in constant contact with nature and the
supernatural, this is an example of how they were in harmony with the cosmos. The
Olmec wanted to express this in the Colossal heads. The way the heads are
portrayed show that power exists not just in the outside world but of the people who
built them. Also, de la Fuente believes that the significance of the heads is more
intricate than the heads appear; they seem to have a universal appearance based on
how perfectly harmonic they are. Another example where the heads symbolized the
cosmos is when de la Fuente explains the golden mean which is the harmony of the
Olmec heads within themselves and how these heads were not primitive. The heads
are sculptures in the round and are balanced somewhere between the realistic and the
abstract. They are realistic when they express themselves in human form and abstract
when they symbolically express themselves with the
Dealing with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
I hurt...Over the many year s now of dealing with the disease commonly referred to
today as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), this simple yet weighted term
of I hurt has become imprinted upon my brain. This term has also become
synonymous in describing how I feel to every physician, family member, and
friend, when describing the chief symptom with CRPS. What is also troubling, is
all the additional place s I hurt now since being diagnosed with this disease. The
paragraph above is intentionally wrote in the first person, however, it never states
whom the I or character is and at any other time would be slanted for poor
grammar. Here being the I in the first paragraph, in this case, can stand for anyone
diagnosed with CRPS, as well as, the undiagnosed. People in the undiagnosed
category is where a lot of misery abides, they are telling everyone they hurt yet get
no relief. This is a sad category because a lot of it lies in the face of false hood.
Doctor s and family do not believe you. You might have no other symptom than pain,
and then, you get slapped with drug seeking behavior. I shutter and cringe as to
how many undiagnosed cases of CRPS take place every year just in the United
States. There is also a middle category to this conundrum, whereby, your given the
title of CRPS, however, your not fully diagnosed per se or the diagnosis of CRPS is
not recognized, understood, or believed to be the case by other physician s. This
nice little slice of heaven is where
The Ancient Songs, Stories And Art Of Native People
Patty Loew writes the ancient songs, stories and art of Native people are filled with
symbolism and wisdom. In order to understand the cultural meaning of the people,
places, and events that shaped their lives, we must not only read history, but also
listen to it (Loew 11). When we listen to history, it can be recognized by means of
how the author acknowledges that written accounts of people and their lives does in
fact offer a valuable source of information, but it diminishes in comparison to what
could actually be learned from those who actually come from that history.
Additionally, in order to actually listen to history it s important to read it but it also
means that we must be able to understand it. If we can understand history, we can
use our understandings of history to apply it to history over time. History is
important when listening to the past because of the fact that it gives people an
understanding of how people s cultures have evolved over time. This also allows us
to learn from the past and hopefully prevent making the same mistakes again in the
future. Passing stories down is another important component in order to listen to
history due to the fact that oral history has allowed us to construct the past and get
more crucial details. Throughout the book there are several examples of how the
author listened to history in order to write her book. From the first chapter in Indian
Nations of Wisconsin, Loew allows us to listen to history by means of discussing

AJ FAAS 3 4 08 A REVIEW OF GRAMSCI S POLITICAL THOUGHT IN THE
PRISON NOTEBOOKS [DRAFT DO NOT CITE WITHOUT WRITTEN
PERMISSION OF THE AUTHOR] Antonio Gramsci was an Italian communist
scholar, journalist, and activist who served as a deputy member of the Italian
Parliament, representing the Italian Communist Party (PCI), which he helped to
establish in 1923. In the wake of the triumph of Mussolini and the Italian fascists in
1926, Gramsci was sentenced to 20 years in prison in order to prevent his thought
from spreading (Crehan 2003:17). From 1926 to 1937, when he was released from
prison only to die one week later, Gramsci composed thirty two notebooks (over
2,350 printed pages) which has come to be regarded as his greatest work and an
unfinished classic of Marxist thought (Simon 1991; Crehan 2002). The fact that he
composed these great works while he was in prison and during a time of political
turmoil that provoked him has particularly confounding effects on the reader. First,
these notebooks were hand written in prison and he frequently revisits or elaborates
on earlier notes throughout the journals. They are therefore not organized under
coherent headings to facilitate a systematic interpretation of his thoughts. Some
editors organize the notes under their own themes, and Gramsci himself at times
inserts instructions that one passage should be tied to another, but some imposed
order is always inevitable. Second, Gramsci, though in prison, was very much
informed, and
Analysis Of The Criticisms Of Cognitive Behavioural
Therapy
Discuss some of the criticisms of cognitive behavioural therapy? Cognitive
behavioural therapy is one of the youngest of todays popular psychotherapies that
teaches clients to be their own therapist. It is a cognitive approach to modifying
human behaviour, developed by A. Beck and A. Ellis. The ultimate goal of cognitive
therapy is therefore the client becoming their own therapist, without the help of a
trained therapist, and for them to subsequently deal with their illness using the
techniques they have been taught (Beck 1985). It includes self help techniques that
focus on the problems of the individual and symptoms that they experience, it
requires structured sessions with a psychologist and it involves confronting emotions.

the depression has won. Most people have trouble accepting their feelings,
especially feelings related to grief (Davidson and Neale 2001) the individuals
emotional state of being must be considered when taking part in cognitive
behavioural therapy. In some cases of stress where a patient has suffered a loss
which has left them devastated, asking the patient to be rational under such
circumstances would be inappropriate and also difficult for them to do. This is
similar to addiction denial, some clients may deny that they have an addiction and
are only attending therapy due to pressure from family friends etc. Refusing
acceptance can reinforce difficulties and intensify negative feelings, if the client
doesn t choose to accept their illness it can be hard to move, not accepting their
illness means they will be reluctant to try and find solutions. A similar issue to this is
the Pollyanna problem, can you learn to think healthfully . Does cognitive
behavioural therapy focus on forgetting the problems rather than treating them, If a
client doesn t believe the therapy will work they will be less inclined to try.
Cognitive behavioural therapy is very time consuming and requires commitment and
cooperation to increase the probability of success. In relation to this research has
reported therapy didn t reduce
David Malhus s Theory Of David Ricardo And David

Population and poverty are the two major concerns in England back in 18th Century.
England believed their population was declining due to natural disaster and lack of

when the England is in the midst of hardship.
The young Malthus thought the society of the population was caught in a hopeless

At the same time, some people thought in totally different way included David

Essay on Personal Narrative- Moose Hunt
Personal Narrative Moose Hunt
It was the middle of October, and it was finally time for my long awaited moose
hunt. I have waited ever since I was a little girl for this opportunity, and it was
finally here. So, my father and I packed up our stuff and left the warmth of Phoenix.
We were leaving the Valley of the Sun and headed for a place called Wyoming. After
two days and fourteen long hours of driving, we made it to our hunting unit.
The mountains were tall (11,000 feet +) and covered with bright powdery snow. It
was like nothing I had ever seen before. I was eager to set up camp and prepare for
our nine day hunt. But, Dad said that we had to drive around and check out all the

course, that did not leave time for breakfast, or even coffee for Dad. We still made
it to our spot by daybreak. We parked behind some trees about a half mile from our
last moose sighting and started stalking closer. We were nearly to the Moose spot
when we heard another vehicle coming down the trail behind us. We thought for
sure that no one would be so un sportsman like that they would just drive by us and
start shooting. It had to be obvious that we were stalking that Moose. But just in
case, we hurried it up and ran down the trail. As we turned the corner, we saw the
pickup stopped in the middle of the trail and the hunters were below the road
glassing and talking loudly. And right across the gulch in front of them was my
moose with the cow and calf.
Things were just going great! I thought for sure that they were going to shoot my
Moose. But my dad wasn t going to let that happen. We ran right by the truck and
set up in the nearest spot we could see the Moose. It was a pretty bad position and I
was basically laying backward in the middle of a bush trying to get steady. The
other hunters were kneeling down and looking through their scopes. My dad could
not believe his eyes and all he said was shoot, and make sure you get

Finding Truth in Lies in Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell to...
Finding Truth in Lies in A Farewell to Arms
The foundation of Hemingway s A Farewell to Arms is based on lies. Hemingway
exposes the reality, or truth, of love and war by presenting the story of Lieutenant
Henry and Catherine Barkley, lives ironically entrenched in lies. Henry in particular
assumes a different role at every turn, pretending, for example, to be a soldier, a
civilian, a doctor or Barkley s dead fiancГ©.
The lies in Henry s life begin when he joins the Italian army. Here, he pretends to be
one of the guys, silently siding with their bawdy humor and macho activities and not
the morality of the priest. Hemingway best displays this conflict in the scene where
the priest urges Henry to visit Abruzzi while the ... Show more content on

Henry pretends to be a civilian, adopting many different forms of that which is
anything but military dress.
Also, when the Swiss authorities question the purpose of Henry and Barkley s
presence in Switzerland, he again must pretend to be other than an American
member of the Italian army. Henry says to the officials he is a sportsman in
Switzerland for the winter sport (279, 280). He also tells the officials he has been
studying architecture. My [Henry s] cousin has been studying art (280). Henry uses
this blatant lie to become a civilian, hiding his military background.
Others also understand Henry s tendency to pretend. For example, Rinaldi comments
that Henry only pretend[s] to be an American (66). The priest later contradicts this
statement: You [Henry] are a foreigner. You are a patriot (71). Henry often plays the
role of the patriotic Italian, then the role of the patriotic American, then the role of the
concerned observer, while never committing to any one ideology. Rinaldi and the
priest have seen this change in facades within Henry, as he assumes different defining
characteristics.
One of Henry s greatest lies centers around his relationship with Barkley. Initially,
Henry wants Barkley only for physical satisfaction, and he will do whatever she
wants to get some. He tells her he loves her with the hope that the declaration will
prompt her to kiss him: I lied. I love you (30). Once this false
Government, Democracy, Authoritarianism And More
Over the years, people have been witnesses of different forms of government such as

different from each other due to their views, goals, role in the history and more
important on the role of the population. The fight for establishing the perfect type of
governmentstill going on nowadays. The role of the government is the fundamental
element in determining the type of regime. However, today I am going to be more
concentrated in one of the forms of government which is the dictatorship and I am
going to stretch on what result from this type of government. The first element that
results from the dictatorship regime is the political instability. The political
instability can be a devastating element in the development of a country. It is really
difficult to exploit the real potential of a country under an unstable climate. The
knowing of a sudden change of regime at any moment can be devastating to a
country. A country such as the Democratic Republic of Congo which after the coup

Even after obtaining his independence in 1960 from the Belgium colonist, the DRC
rapidly saw his first president being taken down by a military coup and its
population being slowly the witness of the birth of the dictatorship regime in their
own territory. The birth of the dictatorship regime resulted in a series of militaries

the water bath and therefore was taking a reading at a lower temperature. ii. If it was
too low the temperature must have been higher than thought. The way this could
have happened is if the thermistor was held close to the heating element in the water
bath and been in a hot spot.
7. The results could be useful because in the context a company is always making a
product which will turn something on (a thermostat in a house central heating system,
fire alarm in a room which has got hot) or off (a kettle when the water is at 100OC).
The manufacture needs to know the resistance at the temperatures which are
important for these functions, so that they can
Analysis Of The Book 1984 By George Orwell
The book 1984 was filled with constant rebellion from one individual known as
Winston Smith who does not believe in the Party and would much rather join the
Brotherhood where he can oppose the Party. While in Divergent, Beatrice Prior is
loyal and compliant with her government until she learns that she is a rare type of
human known as a divergent and poses a threat to her government. These two
stories while incredibly different have many similarities as well. Both stories are
about people trying to distance themselves from their government, and they have
certain sections of government that people are right for. Although, in Divergent,
Beatrice has special traits that enable her to escape her fight while Winston is
tortured into loving the party. In Divergent Beatrice Prior has been raised in the
Abnegation faction her entire life and she finally comes of age and has to decide
what faction she will reside in for the rest of her life. While they take a test that
tells them their best choice they are still able to make their decision and she chooses
Dauntless. In 1984 Winston s life is chosen for him as well because he is taught to
work in the Ministry of Truthand does so for much of his life. In both of these stories
everyone is split into groups or factions based on what they can do best. The splitting
of these groups is relevant in both stories because they begin to talk with other groups
and continue to get in more trouble with their governments. While both 1984
Peirce s Conception Of A Clear Idea
Peirce s essay describes the process of human thinking in its many variables to
make us be aware of the complexity implicated in the conception of a clear idea.
The author starts by stating the meaning of clear and obscure, distinct and
confused. A clear idea is defined as one that can be simply recognized and that
cannot be mistaken for any other thing, if it is not so, then it is considered obscure.
From Peirce s point of view an idea must be distinct in order to be clear, than means
that the person must be familiar to it.
The author mentions Descarters views on the process of human knowledge, he
mentions how Descartes did not understand that the machinery of the mind can only
transform knowledge, but never originate it, unless it be
Operation Management Essay
Operation Management Operations administration concentrates on precisely dealing
with the procedures to create and circulate items and administrations. Operations
administration is the procedure, which joins and changes different assets utilized as a
part of the creation/operations subsystem of the association into quality included item
/benefits in a controlled way according to the arrangements of the association. In this
way, it is that part of an association, which is worried with the change of a scope of
inputs into the required (items/administrations) having the essential quality level.
HISTORY Operations in some structure have been around the length of human try
itself yet, in assembling at any rate, it has changed significantly after some time, and
there are three noteworthy stages create fabricating, large scale manufacturing and
the advanced period. We should take a gander at each of these quickly thus. Craft
manufacturing Create fabricating depicts the procedure by which gifted craftspeople
produce products in low volume, with a high level of assortment, to meet the
prerequisites of their individual clients. Throughout the hundreds of years, abilities
have been transmitted from bosses to disciples and understudies, and controlled by
societies. Craftspeople normally worked at home or in little workshops. Such a
framework functioned admirably for little scale nearby generation, with low levels of
rivalry. A few commercial ventures, for example, furniture
Bible Verse First Timothy
This research paper will examine the bible verse First Timothy 6:6 7.This paper
will tell the background history,of not only the verse but the background
information about the place the verse is talking about and the person who wrote it
/ the people receiving it. This paper will also talk about the genre of the book/verse
and compare it to some of the old testament. To conclude, I will reflect on this verse
and the explain why it is relevant for modern life. The Book 1st Timothy is written
by Paul, Paul wrote 3 pastoral letters on his 4th missionary journey. The three books
included First Timothy,Second Timothy and Titus. There is some confusion on
when First Timothy was written but it is believed that it was written around AD 62

God told Paul that even though the christians aren t the same religion they still have
the same God as the Jewish and that if you persecute his people he was persecuting

Christianity.Once Paul became blind and was told to go to the city where he would
meet Ananias who was justifiably scared of him. With caution Ananias took Paul in
and cured his temporary blindness. Later Paul went to a church and met Barnabas
who he was sent out with to do missionary work. Both stayed together for a while
but then had a falling out. Paul went on three missions trips one with Barnabas, one
with Silas (later adding Timothy and Luke) and the last one with his team. Timothy
became one of the team leaders out of Paul s team and that is why he was trusted to

Amber s Secret
Amber s Secret
Bio202
Amber is an 18 year old woman who has found she is feeling sick and unusual. She
comes to find out that she is pregnant and consults her doctor. Being concerned of
her student status and what her parents might think are her biggest fears. The fetus
growing inside her is almost 11 weeks and has her own story from the inside.
Mentioning all of the growth that has occurred and the development milestones she
has reached, the fetus is concerned of her own well being. The doctor offers Amber
the options of abortion and adoption, and then the heart beat will be heard. It is
unclear what Amber s choice is in the end.
1. What are the hormonal and physical changes that occurred in Amber s normal
menstrual cycle before she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
4. What are the hormonal and physical changes going on in Amber during her
pregnancy? What is keeping her from menstruating as normal?
Physiological changes occurring in Amber s body are happening in her
gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory and cardiovascular system. She is feeling sick
because of the increased hCG, progesterone and estrogen levels. Her story is only
until her 11th week of her pregnancy, but she may feel many symptoms throughout
the rest of her pregnancy if it is not aborted. Those symptoms could be increased
urination because the kidneys are disposing of fetal metabolic waste as well as her
own. Blood volume also rises to help accommodate the fetus needs (Marieb amp;
Hoehn 2013).
An over production of the hormone progesterone is created which stops the follicle
stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Those are the hormones
needed for an egg to be released and travel down into the uterus for a menstruation
cycle. If that does not occur, there is not menstruation (Marieb amp; Hoehn 2013)
5. How does a pregnancy test work?
At home pregnancy tests can be purchased over the counter or a blood test can be
performed at the doctor s office. They both check for the human Chorionic
Gonadotropin, hCG, hormone that is produced during pregnancy. The home
pregnancy test uses urine, and the doctor s office tests blood (Women s Health 2006).
6. How can we account for Amber s symptoms?
It sounds like Amber is having
Essay On Biodegradable Stents
Since the late eighties, stenting has been the primary means of treating stenosed
passageways within the body. This started with self expanding bare metal stents;
however, these stents could eventually lead to restenosis of vessels. In the
Gastrointestinal system in particular, these stents tend to migrate and are difficult to
remove at a later date. Though stenting in the GI system with these methods initially
treated the pathologies, they could lead to additional cost and stress to the patient
later on. With the recent development of biodegradable stents, this problem could be
eliminated. With the use of biodegradable materials or biomaterials in stenting, the
complications from metal of even plastic stenting could be eliminated due to... Show

This metabolism is facilitated by the body s natural pH of 7 7.4 which is conducive
to this process (2).
Biodegradable stents have been used for treatment of refractory benign stenoses
including those in the ureters, urethra, trachea, bile ducts, pancreas, small intestine,
colon and esophagus (3). The first biodegradable stents for the gastrointestinal tract
were made from polylactic acid and were developed by Goldin (4). He tested this stent
on several patients to treat esophageal stenoses; however, his prototypes were
unable to maintain sufficient radial force for longer than three weeks and they
also degraded too quickly. Later, advancements were made with a material called
polydioxanone, which is a crystalline, biodegradable polymer with many ester
linkages. This type of stent had greater integrity and retained its radial force for 6
to 8 weeks after placement, and in 11 to 12 weeks, the stents began to degrade. The
degradation speed was also linked to pH; the lower the pH or the more acidic, the
faster the stent fragmented (1).
Biodegradable stents have found great use in treating stenoses of the esophagus
and achalasia. Esophageal stenoses are generally related to gastroesophageal reflux
developed after esophageal surgery or radiation therapy (5). Typically, this is
treated with dilators and balloons and in 80% to 90% of cases it initially works, but
30% to 60% of patients see their stenoses recur (1). In order to keep their esophagi

The Pros And Cons Of Christian Theology
According to Pew Research Center in 2015, there were counted to be 2.3 billion
Christians in this world (Hackett, McClendon,2017). What does it take to be a
Christian, one should accept God into their life, heart, soul, and mind? Accepting
God into one s life consist of studying the nature of God, by reading the Bible daily,
and mediating on the scripture both night and day. In this essay of Christian theology,
a new believer, or those that are an undecided believer of God, will know the four
sources of Christian theology, what makes the four sources important to Christian
living, the limitations of these four sources, and lastly the positive and negatives of
philosophy and theology. The four sources of Christian theology are: scripture,
tradition, reason, and religious experience (Blackwell, 2017 pg.104). Scripture is
explained to be used for Christian living, and instruction written by God. Old
Testament tells of God s dealing with the Israelites, and how they lived sinfully in the
sight of God. While the Israelites did not live the way, God commanded them to live
which was by the Ten Commandment ways, God still loved them unconditionally
even after he punished them. When it comes to the New Testament, God s only
begotten son Jesuscame unto the scene. Jesus came to this world to seek and to save
that which was lost Luke 19:10, Matthew 18:11 KVJ). The New Testament tells of
the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and with the blood that he shed, believers

Why A Walk-In Clinic Is Better Than Emergency Room
4 Reasons a Walk In Clinic Is a Better Option than an Emergency Room Walk in
clinics are designed to provide important medical care for those who are sick or
injured. They are increasingly popular for people who either cannot wait for a
schedule appointment with their own medical provider or do not have an assigned
medical provider. An urgent care center provides a host of benefits in one central
location. Here are four reasons why going to a walk in clinic is a better option than
an emergency room when you are sick or injured. Less Expensive Although you
will get the same service at an urgent care center that you would in an emergency
room, the cost for visiting a walk in clinic is typically much less than an emergency
room. This is an excellent option for people who... Show more content on

This allows the hospital staff to tend to true emergencies, including life and death
situations, unexpected surgeries and serious injuries. Choosing an urgent care
center may prevent the emergency room for becoming overcrowded and allowing

Forwarded Medical Documents If you visit a walk in clinic and learn that you will
need to visit your family doctor for a follow up, an urgent care clinic will quickly
forward your medical documents to your family doctor. Hospitals often work in
the opposite way, requiring your family doctor to call their records office and
request a copy of your information. This can take more time, which may delay any
required follow up treatment. Both walk in clinics and emergency rooms offer
board certified physicians that care about their patient s well being, but a walk in
clinic should be your first choice for everyday injuries and emergency room should
be used for life threatening or extremely serious
Ethical Theories Of Utilitarianism, And Deontological Ethics
The three main ethical theories that will be compared in this paper are: virtue,
utilitarianism, and deontological ethics. Similarities and differences between each
theory will be pointed out to further understand the concept as well as address ethics
and morality between all three. To wrap things up, a personal experience will be
shared to explain the relationship among virtue, values, and moral concepts as they
relate to one of the three theories that will be outlined.
Virtues are the character traits that a moral life consists of such as courage, integrity,
and honesty. In virtue ethics the importance does not rely on rules and a
consequence of actions but rather if a person is expressing good moral character or
not. According to Aristotle moral virtue is expressed in good purpose that is to say,
in prescriptions for action in accordance with a good plan of life (Britannica). On the
ethics side of virtues, determination of rightfulness or wrongfulness of a specific
action is based on worthy character traits. Negative criticism of the virtue theory
points out that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recently at the San Diego Regional Airport Authority many volunteering events

status of employment if one chooses not to partake. Whether its volunteering at the
local Father Joes Villages serving food to the homeless or boxing supplies to
families in need, many of the employees take precious time out of their lives to give
to others. Although I haven t volunteered yet, I recognize the sacrifices people make
to benefit a greater cause. Even after a long day at work, men and women with
families go spend valuable time helping out the homeless and low income families
that aren t as fortunate. Virtues, values, and morals align perfectly with the
philosophy of utilitarianism when it comes to volunteer
The Pitfalls of American Interventionism Essay
The United States has been feeling the effects of Middle Eastern terrorism since June
5th, 1968, when Sirhan Sirhan, a Palestinian acting alone, shot and killed Senator
Robert F. Kennedy in response to some pro Israeli statements he made (Eland 10).
United States support for the newly formed Israel had garnered a lot of hatred from
native Palestinians, and Sirhan s attack marked the beginning of anti American
sentiment in the region. Starting with President Dwight D. Eisenhower, the United
Stateshad been interfering in the Middle East, using Iran as a base for anti Soviet
operations. Over the years, U.S relations with the Middle East soured, leading CIA
trained operatives to form terrorist organizations. President George H. W. Bush...

As for economic downturn, the lack of regulation and the failures of banks were
both caused by the Gulf Wars. The United States government was too focused upon
military conflict outside of its borders to pay attention to the loopholes that banks
were using to make unwise lending decisions. The Gulf Wars had a large economic
impact on the United States and was the primary cause of the economic downturn
during both Bush administrations. American intervention in the Middle East drove
up gas prices to an all time high, resulting in billions of dollars lost. As Peter Katel
said, In the week that the [First Gulf War] started, the average world oil price was
about $27 a barrel...[later oil prices] were pushed up to prices upwards of $116 a
barrel. (5). The money lost due to this alone ranged in the hundreds of billions of
dollars lost. As a result, the American economy took a staggering blow, and was
later felled by the economic cost of the war itself. The global increase in oil prices
caused inflation, leading to a massive increase in cost of living expenses. But, the
American intervention in the Middle East included larger and far more devastating
expenses as well. For the first Gulf War, a war that lasted a little over a hundred days
cost upwards of $260 billion dollars ( Calculating 6). The second Gulf War, or the
Iraq War, was far more costly, as
Death In Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a story more about death than love, discuss. Romeo and Juliet
was a renowned play based on two lovers, Romeo and Juliet, who came from two
opposing families but fell deeply in love with each other. Although the play contained
scenes of both love and death, Romeo and Juliet is not solely based on one, but rather
how both themes intertwined with each other. Once Romeo and Juliet had
established their relationship, it brought about their fate of an untimely death.
Subsequently, the death of Tybalt not only aggravated the feud between the two
families, but it strengthened and established Juliet s love for Romeo. Furthermore, it
was Romeo and Juliet s death that finally resolved the argument between the two
noble families,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The death of Tybalt and Mercutio brought despair and blood boiling hatred between
both families, but the deaths strengthened Romeo and Juliet s relationship. Juliet s
love for Romeo was truly shown and proven when she supported her husband against
the nurse s criticisms, Shall I speak ill of him that is my husband?...Tybalt is dead
and Romeo banished. That banished , that one word banished , hath slain ten
thousand Tybalts... Act III, Scene II. The deaths of the household members
strengthened the star crossed lovers relationship as Juliet restates her vows that were
made in her marriage with Romeo, I promise to stand by you no matter what, through
thick and thin I will be there by your side. Vows made during marriage. Thus proving
that death is connected to love, as it was due to the death from both households that
pushed on the existence of
Charles Taylor And The Civil War
Liberia has suffered two major civil wars. The first civil war happened from 1989
until 1997. In 1980, Samuel Doe had led a coup d Г©tat to overthrow the
government of Tubman. In 1985, elections were held in the country, and it was
considered to be highly fraudulent. A coup was organized, but it was not successful.
In 1989, Charles Taylor arrived in the country from Ivory Coast and led an uprising
against the government of Samuel Doe. During the uprising, two factions arose with
one staying with Taylor and the other supporting Prince Johnson. Johnson fought for
the capital, and he executed Doe while taking the city. The emerging conflicts saw
Taylor and Johnson fighting over the control of Monrovia. The civil warled to over
200,000 deaths. After the election of Taylor, peace reigned for two years before the
second civil war started. The war began in 1999 when a rebel group that was backed
by Guinea, which was a neighboring country, invaded northern Liberia. The Liberians
United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD) fought against Taylor forces.
Civilians were the most affected because they were between the two warring
factions. In 2003, another rebel group was formed known as Movement for
Democracy in Liberia. This group emerged from the south and by mid 2003, the
government controlled only a third of the country. The two rebel group oversaw the
deaths of thousands of people. Much more were displaced. Currently, the population
of Liberia consists of more than 51%

Delving into the intricacies of one's family history requires not only a keen understanding of genealogy but also the ability to weave a compelling narrative that transcends mere facts and dates. Unraveling the layers of one's familial past can evoke a myriad of emotions, from nostalgia to introspection, and even moments of revelation. The difficulty arises in striking the right balance between presenting a factual account of your family's history and infusing the narrative with a sense of coherence and engagement. Creating a structure that is both logical and engaging requires careful planning and thoughtful consideration of the overall theme and purpose of the essay. Despite these challenges, the process of writing a family history essay can be immensely rewarding. It allows for a deeper understanding of one's roots and an appreciation for the interconnectedness of family stories. In overcoming the obstacles, the writer not only gains a sense of accomplishment but also contributes to the preservation of familial legacy. • 4. Siddhartha Analysis Paper Time does not exist; love is eternal; death brings peace. Siddhartha illustrates each of these themes in the novel, Siddhartha. Throughout his life, Siddhartha is very independent. For example, Siddhartha demonstrates self determination when he leaves his overbearing father to begin the life of the Samanas (Hesse 10). There, he escapes from the physical world to soon realize that enlightenment cannot come from ignoring the world around him. He decides to follow the Buddha and learn his teachings; however, he is unsuccessful. As Siddharthagoes through his unaccompanied journey towards Enlightenment, he comes to realize that he must let his loved ones go and that each man must find the way by himself (Malthaner 3). Foolishly, he falls... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After his experiences, Siddhartha comprehends that he is not capable of individualistic love and decides to abandon Kamala. Later, he meets her again, but now she is not alone. While Kamala takes a journey with her son to visit the dying Buddha, she gets bitten by a poisonous snake and perishes. He loses Kamala s love but hopes to gain the love of his son. Unfortunately, he never does. Siddhartha treats his son with consideration and respect although he realizes the boy has been spoiled by a wealthy lifestyle. He unsuccessfully tries to win over the love of his son, but his love is not mutual. Young Siddhartha soon runs away towards the village to continue his life without his controlling father. Although Siddhartha understands that he must let him go, his love for his son is overwhelming; he cannot bear to let the boy go. After speaking with Vasudeva, the Ferryman, and learning from the river, Siddhartha learns to accept the loss of love. Now, Siddhartha has gained wisdom and understanding of love universal love. Enlightenment cannot exist without love, for love is the most important thing in the world (Hesse 147). Through Kamala and his son he has learned that one must love the world, not despise it (Hesse 147). At first, love is portrayed as an immoral feeling and thought of as an obstacle in his journey to reach Nirvana. Later, Siddhartha learns that one must love to prosper and that love is what keeps the world alive. In conclusion,
  • 5. Becoming A Professional Electrical Electronics Engineer We ve made great advances in the last century, innovating at an astonishing speed. But unfortunately, it seems as if in the last decade, the rate of innovation has slowed down considerably. Every new product is just an iteration of the last iteration, with no defining jumps in technology but only incremental changes. With the snail paced recovery of the economy and a looming global warming crisis, America needs more engineers if it wants to stay the dominant nation that it is today and if it wants to make sure that the future of its children is safe, prosperous, and pollutant free. None too often it is the small ideas from engineers that create sparks in the economy and keep this great nation of ours going. As distinguished professor Michael Schiffer would say, engineers have the ability to symbolize technological prowess and modernity (4). I plan on joining this distinguished group of innovators. I want to become a professional electrical electronics engineer, to acquire the knowledge and the skills to be able to run my own consumer electronics company one day; Becoming a professional electrical electronics engineer will allow me to work on providing clean energy for my parents hometown of New Takoradi. To clearly understand and define sexual promiscuity there must be a distinction made between the difference between sexual promiscuity and sexual addiction because they are controversially close in definition. The phrase is so overused that it s become somewhat of a clichГ©. Any analyst can refer to a company s fundamentals without actually saying anything meaningful. So here we define exactly what fundamentals are, how and why they are analyzed, and why fundamental analysis is often a great starting point to picking good companies. The Theory Doing basic fundamental valuation is quite straightforward; all it takes is a little time and energy. The goal of analyzing a company s fundamentals is to find a stock s intrinsic value, a fancy term for what you believe a stock is really worth as opposed to the value at which it is being traded in the marketplace. If the intrinsic value is more than the current share price, your analysis is showing that the stock is worth more than its price and that it makes sense

I recall opening my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. I stopped, and looked at her and said, You know, I m not really sure. I guess we will find out! I knew going in to this class I was excited, but for what I had no clue. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the changing electronic industry and business demands, Custom Molds should correct major issues by adopting the following recommendations. The molding process should focus on small batch sizes and purchase more small and customizable machines. More workers should be hired to oversee the production since there is more labor needed to prepare the machine for each customized mold. The plastic parts process should focus on few but large capacity specialized machines. Fewer workers will be needed to oversee this process because there are few setting changes needed. To control the problem of late deliveries, a better communication system between offices should be implemented so workers do not need to walk back and forth between offices. Orders should also be accepted based on the ability to complete the product in the time that is promised to the customer. More efficient communication between all departments would result in a more accurate estimated delivery time. To control errors resulting in defective parts, Custom Molds should invest in moving the testing center to a more centrally located area. More frequent testing and less walking will increase efficiency and decrease defective products. An alternative option to the recommendations listed, is for Custom Molds Inc. to evaluate the market for the products they produce and to decide to make either molds or plastic parts. The key factors that should be considered while
  • 10. Argumentative Essay On Indian Food The United States has pride in being a melting pot of different cultures and ideas. With such great cultures comes the best part: food. In any given area in the United States, you can find different cuisines ranging from Italian to Chinese. For this activity, I chose to convince four friends to try Indian food with me. Indian food typically does not appeal to Americans because we perceive the amount of spices used in the cuisine as excessive. However, I believe in expanding tastes and trying new foods just for the sake of it. Where do you want to eat? is a question asked where the response is too often I do not know. To be honest, I am always the person with that response; however, when this question arose earlier this week, I actually had a response. Let s try Indian food! My friends looked at me as if I was crazy. It s not typical of me to have a response especially one that is exotic. They were all unsure of trying Indian food because it was unfamiliar to them. Because it was a group of four people, I knew I had to get at least one person to agree with me, and everyone else would come out of peer pressure. I looked at my friend Taya who had briefly mentioned that she would want to try Indian food a few months ago. I used Cialdini s commitment principle to remind her of what she had said before. Taya remembered what she had said, but was not expecting me to suggest Indian food. She agreed to come after thinking about it, but I still had to convince three more
  • 11. Challenges Facing The International Community Essay Introduction Every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way wrote Leo Tolstoy in the opening page of Anna Karenina. Similarly it can be said that each so called fragile state is fragile in its own way. Fragile states pose a distinct security risk for the international community. According to OECD report on fragile states (2015),by failing in their responsibility to provide basic services to their people, they cause mass migration and act as havens for terrorism and illicit trade. According to the same report statebuilding interventions in fragile states are undertaken because, without addressing state fragility, poverty reduction is not achievable and that state fragility will have a major impact on global poverty. In the following analysis, I will try to explore the challenges the international community, led by the US, face in its state building efforts in Afghanistan. Standing at the border between central and south asia, Afghanistan has a chequered and violent recent history. Acting as a buffer zone between British and Russian colonialism in the 18th and 19th century (Marsden 2009, p 72), Afghanistan became completely independent from British rule in the 1920s. During the reign of Zahir Shah ( 1933 1973), the country enjoyed relative peace and a process of modernization was under way in the kemalist model (Rashid 2000, p 76). However, in the 1970s Afghanistan saw military coup, communist takeover and a Soviet invasion. In the late 1970s, the People s Democratic

The resort Yalta in Russia is filled with many men and women looking for lust. Some men and women such as the ones in the short story, The Lady with the Dog , written by Anton Chekhov, are willing to commit a sinful act against their significant other. The main characters, Dmitri Gurov and Anna Sergeyevna, have an affair in Yalta. Although they partake in this detestable act, they never inform their spouses about the affair. First off, the story takes place in Yalta, a Russian resort renowned for its lust and sinful pleasures. The stories of the immorality in such places as Yalta are to a great extent untrue , ...the tempting thought of a swift, fleeting love affair, a romance, with an unknown woman, whose name he did not know, suddenly took possession of him. (Chekhov 166). This evidence shows that Yalta proves to be a place of lust, changing the way Dimitri thinks. The Character Anna is married to an important person many people would not imagine cheating on. A place that can convince a woman to cheat on her husband is a very influential place. The film is considered one of the most defining German expressionist film out of the Avant garde cinema movement. The film became a template for future films that is horror based and also influenced the film style of film noirs with its lighting. With its gothic tone that pays homage to expressionistic paintings that depicts human emotions, the film shows us a place that is distorted and twisted through the narration of the film s deranged character. I will explore how the film show us the various stylistic elements that is associated with expressionist films and how this helped to create the distorted looking world through the vision of a madman. After the Germans loses in World War I, the American government was in control of the art of expressionism that is occurring in Germany at the same time. Reality for them was intolerable and therefore to escape this insufferable reality, they turned to arts. This reality was the fact that after their loss, they were traumatised by it and could not fathom the fact of their economic depression, the colonising of American culture and their politics. They used this arts to express their inner feelings and that is why German expressionism is associated with the human emotions. The film tells the story of the crazy hypnotist Dr.Caligari through the narration of Francis. Francis and his friend Alan, meets Caligari at a carnival in their town. Part
  • 14. Dr Lab Report Introduction Maintenance of genomic integrity is crucial for cell survival in resistance to endogenous and exogenous environmental insults to the genetic material. Multiple DNA repair pathways coordinate the response to such genotoxins and protect our genome [1]. Endogenous insults may be generated as a byproduct of cellular metabolism in the form of reactive oxygen species or during physiological processes such as meiotic recombination, mating type switching in yeasts, V(D)J recombination and DNA replication transcription collision [2 5]. Exogenous stresses include hypoxia, radiation and dietary carcinogens [6, 7]. Depending on the nature of damage to the DNA structure which, may range from breaks in phosphodiester bonds such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... NER is a highly conserved DNA repair pathway that is the primary pathway responsible for the removal of bulky DNA lesions i.e., helix distorting lesions such as UV induced photoproducts, environmental mutagens, and some chemotherapeutic agents. NER has two distinct subtypes: global genome repair (GG NER), which can occur anywhere in the genome and transcription coupled repair (TC NER), which removes distorting lesions that obstruct transcription [20, 21]. Following lesion recognition, the damage containing oligonucleotide is excised from DNA by a dual enzyme incision step mediated by ERCC1 XPF, which makes the first incision and XPG which incises the 3 end of single/double strand junction [22]. This results in the release of lesion containing oligonucleotide with TFIIH bound to it [23]. The gap filling step in NER relies on the concerted action of DNA ligase and its cofactors DNA polymerases Оґ and Оµ, the sliding clamp PCNA, the clamp loader RFC and RPA [24]. MMR is a is a highly conserved post replication repair pathway that corrects DNA mismatches generated during DNA replication that escapes the proofreading function of DNA polymerases thereby preventing mutations and tumorigenesis [25 27]. MutSО± recognizes the mismatches and MutLО± forms nicks at the 3′ or 5′ end of the mismatched base that are substrates for the EXOI exonuclease that excises resulting DNA segment is excised by the EXO1 exonuclease in association with the single stranded

  • 18. Once More For The Lake By Elwyn Brooks White In Elwyn Brooks White s Once More to the Lake , a personal narrative essay, the lake serves as the setting for both the past and the present. White reflects on the memories of his childhood when his father took him to the lake, and he then explains how he is now taking his son to the same lake. He describes a dual existence of spending time with his son, and this then creates a sense of confusion making it hard for White to distinguish himself from his son. In Urrea s Life on the Mississippi , he relates his childhood to the characters in the writings of Mark Twain. He talks about the memories of reading the books he had as a child, which his mother and father stole for him from the bookstore, and how he used the stories in his own life by using his imagination. Where both stories talk about memories of their childhood and how they reflect on the memories, they are different in the reasons why they bring up the memories. Although E.B White s Once More to the Lake and Urrea s Life on the Mississippi discuss memories, they focus on different purposes behind these memories, however they both use the same tone to address their audience. Whites purpose of writing Once More to the Lake is to illustrate and show his readers that the way his vacation with his son evokes powerful sensory memories that makes him struggle with an internal battle of letting go of his childhood. White constantly refers to the way his son reminds him of himself when he was younger going on this
  • 19. Color In Eilis s Life The colors in this film signify so much more than just clothes or landscape, colors seem to signify significant moments in Eilis s life. I think that we all subconsciously wear certain colors when we are feeling a certain way, I know that even on some level we do it consciously, like for example when you go to a wedding you cannot wear white, or when you go to a funeral you usually wear black. Especially in a time like the 1950 s when women really only wore dresses, their only way of looking different would be to wear colorful dresses or the makeup on their faces. The film starts out with Eilis in Ireland and her colors seem rather dull, like grey and she is not wearing an ounce of makeup. It really helps to show you how boring and dismal... Blue is supposedly most strongly associated with tranquility and a sense of calm, which is what you would hope to feel when the guy you are with asks you to move into together. She did not hesitate when he asked, she was simply taking in the area and all of the surroundings and she knew that is where she was meant to be. This is another strange aspect of this film because it makes Eilis seem like she is a very independent young woman, and in a time like the 1950 s she would not probably have been as independent and been making all of these decisions on her own. Another peculiar behavior is when she decides to invite Tony into her room and she initiates the sexual interaction, which is very irregular for this time period. However after her and Tony had sex for the first time she is seen wearing a yellow dress, yellow is associated with happiness, intellect, energy, and yellow produces a warming effect. Yellow stimulates mental activity. Eilis is finally moving away from Ireland and her family the more time she spends with Tony, for this time period the man being such a large part of Eilis s life is not surprising in any way. The 1950 s women were very concerned about becoming wives and being mothers, so when she finally felt happy and content to be away from home it had to be a man that was making the transition so

We like to believe that everyone is equal, but society doesn t treat everyone as what they were when created, equal. Virginia Woolf writes of society s inequality through describing two meals from two different colleges. What mattered was neither where the college was nor the name of it, but what mattered was that one was for men and the other for women. Woolf was was served one mealfrom the colleges and there were some striking differences. Through her writing, Woolf s use of vocabulary, tone, and emotional appeal help support her attitude that women aren t treated equal compared to men. In reading both passages, there is a clear difference in her vocabulary for describing the meals. Here, however, I shall take the liberty to defy that convention and to tell you that the lunchon this occasion began with soles, sunk in deep dish, over which the college cook had spread a counterpane of the whitest cream, save that it was branded here and there with brown spots like the spots on the flanks of a doe (Woolf, Passage1, Sentence 4). Here was the soup. It was a plain gravy soup. There was nothing to stir the fancy in that (Woolf, Passage 2, Sentence 6 8). Not only was there a change in vocabulary, but there was also a change in the length of her sentences. Woolf s experience in the men s college was given a lot of detail compared to her experience in the women s college. We can infer, from her vocabulary, that the

Buck Call Quotes The relations between Buck and the human he encounters are marked not surprisingly, by opposing forces, actions, roles or values: love and hate, master and slave, uneasy truce and open war, hunter and victim. Buck enters the story in his sustaining California environment as ruler of all he surveys: he was king, king over all creeping, crawling flying things of Judge Miller s place, humansincluded. Taken out of that happy valley, he was starved and mistreated by his captors and then subdued by the brutal club of a shrewd, red sweated man. The man conquers Buck and Buck hates him; yet the beating brings with it the curiously ambiguous relation between master and slave: When the man brought him water he drank eagerly, and later bolted a generous meal of raw meat, chunk by chunk from the man s hand. Buck s understanding of humanbeings will henceforth be defined by power and the politic dispensing of the necessities of life. The cultural belief that women should imprison themselves in their own bodies has been one of many decades. As once said by Naomi Wolf, a neo feminist and sociologist s, women continue to overcome legal and physical obstacles, the more viciously these brutal images of beauty have added more challenges to women s success(486). Also, de la Fuente believes that the significance of the heads is more intricate than the heads appear; they seem to have a universal appearance based on how perfectly harmonic they are. Another example where the heads symbolized the cosmos is when de la Fuente explains the golden mean which is the harmony of the Olmec heads within themselves and how these heads were not primitive. What is also troubling, is all the additional place s I hurt now since being diagnosed with this disease. The paragraph above is intentionally wrote in the first person, however, it never states whom the I or character is and at any other time would be slanted for poor grammar. Here being the I in the first paragraph, in this case, can stand for anyone diagnosed with CRPS, as well as, the undiagnosed. • 29. The Ancient Songs, Stories And Art Of Native People Patty Loew writes the ancient songs, stories and art of Native people are filled with symbolism and wisdom. In order to understand the cultural meaning of the people, places, and events that shaped their lives, we must not only read history, but also listen to it (Loew 11). When we listen to history, it can be recognized by means of how the author acknowledges that written accounts of people and their lives does in fact offer a valuable source of information, but it diminishes in comparison to what could actually be learned from those who actually come from that history. Additionally, in order to actually listen to history it s important to read it but it also means that we must be able to understand it. If we can understand history, we can use our understandings of history to apply it to history over time. History is important when listening to the past because of the fact that it gives people an understanding of how people s cultures have evolved over time. This also allows us to learn from the past and hopefully prevent making the same mistakes again in the future. Passing stories down is another important component in order to listen to history due to the fact that oral history has allowed us to construct the past and get more crucial details. Throughout the book there are several examples of how the author listened to history in order to write her book. From the first chapter in Indian Nations of Wisconsin, Loew allows us to listen to history by means of discussing

AJ FAAS 3 4 08 A REVIEW OF GRAMSCI S POLITICAL THOUGHT IN THE PRISON NOTEBOOKS [DRAFT DO NOT CITE WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION OF THE AUTHOR] Antonio Gramsci was an Italian communist scholar, journalist, and activist who served as a deputy member of the Italian Parliament, representing the Italian Communist Party (PCI), which he helped to establish in 1923. In the wake of the triumph of Mussolini and the Italian fascists in 1926, Gramsci was sentenced to 20 years in prison in order to prevent his thought from spreading (Crehan 2003:17). From 1926 to 1937, when he was released from prison only to die one week later, Gramsci composed thirty two notebooks (over 2,350 printed pages) which has come to be regarded as his greatest work and an unfinished classic of Marxist thought (Simon 1991; Crehan 2002). The fact that he composed these great works while he was in prison and during a time of political turmoil that provoked him has particularly confounding effects on the reader. First, these notebooks were hand written in prison and he frequently revisits or elaborates on earlier notes throughout the journals. They are therefore not organized under coherent headings to facilitate a systematic interpretation of his thoughts. Some editors organize the notes under their own themes, and Gramsci himself at times inserts instructions that one passage should be tied to another, but some imposed order is always inevitable. Second, Gramsci, though in prison, was very much informed, and

Yes this was a suitable interval because by moving from 20OC to 30OC there was a difference in the resistance of _____ Ohms. It was also possible to see a pattern in the results using intervals of 10OC. However to create a more accurate line of best fit I could have used intervals of 5OC. If I had the resistance value of 15OC would have been ______ Ohms (read this off your graph). CIRCLE the anomalous results in BOTH the table of results and graph if you have any. Make sure you say; a. Whether each result is a higher or lower value than it should be. b. What could have caused it, the best answers for this are; i. If it was too high, the thermistor was not given time to warm to the temperature of the water bath and therefore was taking a reading at a lower temperature. ii. If it was too low the temperature must have been higher than thought. The way this could have happened is if the thermistor was held close to the heating element in the water bath and been in a hot spot. 7. The results could be useful because in the context a company is always making a product which will turn something on (a thermostat in a house central heating system, fire alarm in a room which has got hot) or off (a kettle when the water is at 100OC). The manufacture needs to know the resistance at the temperatures which are important for these functions, so that they can

While they take a test that tells them their best choice they are still able to make their decision and she chooses Dauntless. In 1984 Winston s life is chosen for him as well because he is taught to work in the Ministry of Truthand does so for much of his life. In both of these stories everyone is split into groups or factions based on what they can do best. The splitting of these groups is relevant in both stories because they begin to talk with other groups and continue to get in more trouble with their governments. While both 1984

What are the hormonal and physical changes going on in Amber during her pregnancy? What is keeping her from menstruating as normal? Physiological changes occurring in Amber s body are happening in her gastrointestinal, urinary, respiratory and cardiovascular system. She is feeling sick because of the increased hCG, progesterone and estrogen levels. Her story is only until her 11th week of her pregnancy, but she may feel many symptoms throughout the rest of her pregnancy if it is not aborted. Those symptoms could be increased urination because the kidneys are disposing of fetal metabolic waste as well as her own. Blood volume also rises to help accommodate the fetus needs (Marieb amp; Hoehn 2013). An over production of the hormone progesterone is created which stops the follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Those are the hormones needed for an egg to be released and travel down into the uterus for a menstruation cycle. If that does not occur, there is not menstruation (Marieb amp; Hoehn 2013) 5. How does a pregnancy test work? At home pregnancy tests can be purchased over the counter or a blood test can be performed at the doctor s office. This started with self expanding bare metal stents; however, these stents could eventually lead to restenosis of vessels. In the Gastrointestinal system in particular, these stents tend to migrate and are difficult to remove at a later date. Though stenting in the GI system with these methods initially treated the pathologies, they could lead to additional cost and stress to the patient later on. With the recent development of biodegradable stents, this problem could be eliminated. Biodegradable stents have been used for treatment of refractory benign stenoses including those in the ureters, urethra, trachea, bile ducts, pancreas, small intestine, colon and esophagus (3). The first biodegradable stents for the gastrointestinal tract were made from polylactic acid and were developed by Goldin (4). He tested this stent on several patients to treat esophageal stenoses; however, his prototypes were unable to maintain sufficient radial force for longer than three weeks and they also degraded too quickly. Later, advancements were made with a material called polydioxanone, which is a crystalline, biodegradable polymer with many ester linkages. This type of stent had greater integrity and retained its radial force for 6 to 8 weeks after placement, and in 11 to 12 weeks, the stents began to degrade. The degradation speed was also linked to pH; the lower the pH or the more acidic, the faster the stent fragmented (1). Biodegradable stents have found great use in treating stenoses of the esophagus and achalasia. Esophageal stenoses are generally related to gastroesophageal reflux developed after esophageal surgery or radiation therapy (5). Typically, this is treated with dilators and balloons and in 80% to 90% of cases it initially works, but 30% to 60% of patients see their stenoses recur (1). In order to keep their esophagi patent,

Similarities and differences between each theory will be pointed out to further understand the concept as well as address ethics and morality between all three. To wrap things up, a personal experience will be shared to explain the relationship among virtue, values, and moral concepts as they relate to one of the three theories that will be outlined. Virtues are the character traits that a moral life consists of such as courage, integrity, and honesty. In virtue ethics the importance does not rely on rules and a consequence of actions but rather if a person is expressing good moral character or not. According to Aristotle moral virtue is expressed in good purpose that is to say, in prescriptions for action in accordance with a good plan of life (Britannica). On the ethics side of virtues, determination of rightfulness or wrongfulness of a specific action is based on worthy character traits. In 1980, Samuel Doe had led a coup d Г©tat to overthrow the government of Tubman. In 1985, elections were held in the country, and it was considered to be highly fraudulent. A coup was organized, but it was not successful. In 1989, Charles Taylor arrived in the country from Ivory Coast and led an uprising against the government of Samuel Doe. During the uprising, two factions arose with one staying with Taylor and the other supporting Prince Johnson. Johnson fought for the capital, and he executed Doe while taking the city. The emerging conflicts saw Taylor and Johnson fighting over the control of Monrovia. The civil warled to over 200,000 deaths.
