Alexander Glazunov Research Paper
Alexander Glazunov was one of the many talented, Russian composers of the romantic period.
He was only a boy of nine years when he started playing piano, which he was naturally gifted at;
he started composing his own music at the age of eleven. When his talent was discovered by the
former head of The Russian Five, Mily Balakirev, news spread quickly to the famed composer
Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov who sought to meet this young, high school aged, composer. Glazunov
was taught privately by Rimsky Korsakov at the conservatory of St. Petersburg; Rimsky said that
His musical development progressed not by the day, but literally by the hour . When Glazunov was
only sixteen, Rimsky Korsakov premiered his work and Alexander Borodin, among others,... Show

He contributed to Russian music in more ways than one, but the way that most people would agree
that he helped was that he kept nationalism strong during the roughest times of WW1 and the
Russian revolutions. His traditionally Russian sound was inspired by the nationalistic Balakirev,
with the fabulous orchestration of Rimsky Korsakov, the larger than life sound of Borodin, shaped
by the beautifully lyrical sound of Tchaikovsky, and structured with the potent counterpoint of
Sergei Taneyev. Glazunov remains one of the most well known Russian composers of his time, and
his legacy lives on in the beautiful modern recordings of his many symphonies, string quartets,
ballets, and concerti. He will always hold a place in the heart of the national Russian sound, with
the echoes of the grand halls of the Russian Music Society concerts, his soul rings in his music,
untouched by the harsh dissonance that so oft is felt in society

College Is The Best Way For People
College and Business
College is the best way for people to be successful. A famous journalist, Dan Rater has said, A
college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice
because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity. Many people feel lost after
they graduated high school, they don t know what challenge is waiting for them; and they have
to make the toughest decision in their lives: either go to college or go to work, those two choices
will completely change people s lives. Education can improve people s lives, and everybody can be
educated by going to college; with no doubt, going to college will be the wisest decision people
ever made. It is important to go to college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They don t really care about the salary, most of them just want to explore their interest and develop
their potential ability. Choosing the right major, especially choose the major that have the highest
value is very important. Students have to take a carefully consideration before they decide to
extend their intended major. As college students, if they choose the right major, that means they
will steer their destiny and have a bright future. Otherwise, if people make an improper decision,
they will not just waste their time and money in college, but also will ruin their lives and future by
themselves. In the other hand, the number of people who choose business as their major is
increasing, which means business is becoming more and more popular and many people start to
realize the important of learning business. Business is an organization or system that involve the
trade of goods and services. People used to relate the firms and companies to business, because
the use of business is very extensive. One country import and export products to another country,
during the process, it requires lots of people who have plenty of business skills; so that is one of
the reason why many students choose business as their major. Business are becoming more and
more significant for people, even the country. People use GDP to measure the economic status of
countries; and people trade goods and services almost every day. The

Right Of Death Research Paper
Today one of the greatest atrocities is a silent one. I am not discussing human rights violations. I
am not discussing torture and unjust imprisonment. I am not discussing the rights of speech, press,
and freedom of religion, or rather lack thereof in many countries today. I am discussing another
right: the Right of Death. All previously mentioned rights have been discussed widely now for
over three centuries, yet the Right of Death has only now been discussed sparingly for three
decades. And the lack of the Right of Death leads to more suffering than any of the previous rights
mentioned. Even in today s most just and free countries, we often find this right missing. What is
the Right of Death might you ask? It is simply the right to have... Show more content on

They feel like doctors must perform Medical Assisted on any eligible patient, regardless of what
that doctor s beliefs about the matter are. To those who have good common sense, this belief
seems almost entirely irrationally. Yet as this state of mind commonly arises in the populace, I
will briefly respond to it. Let us begin by discussing this topic in legal terms, by once again
going back to the American Declaration of Independence. As in the previous case, law and
government are entirely matters of interpretation and so the liberty and life previously mentioned
mean that a doctor or a member of a medical staff is at liberty to refuse to take the life of another
person for reasons which are not relating to discrimination. In fact, A majority of doctors approve
of the practice of physician assisted suicide, but most say they would not perform it themselves
according to a University of Michigan study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
(Assisted) The most probable reason for this, is that these doctors believe that Medical Assisted
Suicide interferes with the practices of their own religious beliefs. This is quite frequent, as
according to deathwithdignity.org, more than twenty widespread religions, or sects of religions, are
commonly opposed to Medical Assisted Suicide. Among these are Anglicans, Baptists, Buddhists,

Essay On Peak Performers
A peak performer can come from anything and can be any age. Peak performers are good and

making mistakes which I understand because I to make mistakes as well and I m not perfect
and sometimes even peak performers make mistakes as well as a regular person would that s not
on a peak performers level. They also look into results which I m the same way I have to look
into results to make sure everything good and that it s right you can t just do something and not

Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano
Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s
The Piano
Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation,
civilised vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New
Zealand can be examined.
Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New
Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this
analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the
coast in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density,
but yet provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the
beach their shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s
surroundings act as a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement.
The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather
than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in
situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also
immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film,
symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation.
Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also
criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and
structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull
Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her
costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further.
This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of
the realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing
that blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European

The Moths
Learning Lessons Through Death In the short story, The Moths , the narrator, a fourteen year old
girl, assumes the responsibility of taking care of her cancerous and dying Abuelita. Her Abuelita
is the only person who understands the narrator and the only person she feels she can turn to.
After having followed man s rules for so many years, Abuelita passes away. All the moths that
lived inside her are freed and the narrator learns some life lessons. Helena Maria Viramontes uses
symbolism and setting to illustrate the oppression of women in The Moths. Viramontes uses
symbols as a way of illustrating the oppression women feel to the narrator. The sun, the moths, and
the bird of paradise are symbols to represent aspects of life to the... Show more content on

The narrator saw it as a boring and dusty place. She observes, The tomatoes were always soft and
the cans of Campbell soup had rusted spots. There was dust on top of the cereal boxes
(Viramontes 1329). The church was also a place the narrator didn t feel welcome. Her family
was fairly religious though the narrator herself saw no point in going to the chapel: I had
forgotten the vastness of these places, the coolness of the marble pillars and the frozen statues
with blank eyes. I was alone. I knew why I had never returned (Viramontes 1329). The narrator
felt no warmth or comfort in going to church. It was a cold empty place for her. The author used
women s oppression to write stories like, The Moths. The narrator learns that a person can follow
the rules and still not be smothered by traditions and rules. Her Abuelita was an example to her.
Through symbolism and setting, the author was able to depict women s oppression by their societal

Insurance Liability And Liability Insurance
There are many lines of different property and casualty insurances. Even though the general
purpose and utilization of these insurances is the same across the nation, prices fluctuate from state
to state. We will get into more detail in regards to Errors and Omission Insurance (E O) in the State
of California.
Errors and Omission Insurance, also called Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice
Insurance, is used to cover legal expenses caused by potential errors and omissions during
operations and stipulation of cases.
When a company or firm is sued for making a mistake, performing services in a negligent way or
misrepresenting or financially harming a client, the consequences can harm a company in an
irreversible way.
This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since E O insurance is important to carry when running a business most professions have this
type of insurance to cover a potential lawsuit that would otherwise cause them to file for
bankruptcy. It may come as a surprise that some states do not require businesses to have E O
insurance, but a large portion of contracts with clients required insurance for the contract to be in
effect. Having an E O insurance policy may sometimes be a selling point for potential clients.
When a client sees that a business has this type of insurance it gives them peace of mind knowing
that if there happens to be any error or omission throughout the process they will be compensated.
The same applies to the actual company. It makes it easier to accept new clients and cases knowing
that in case of any alleged misunderstanding or disputes, the policy would bring in protection and
coverage.
According to techinsurance.com about 70% of businesses raise prices or cut hiring when sued
and yet, $35 billion = annual out of pocket cost of lawsuits for small businesses. These numbers
are a clear indication of how important E O is for a business to operate.
Before getting into pricing, perhaps we should take a look at the overall market around the E O,
including how companies are hedging themselves against the possibility of a lawsuit.
According to Curtis Pearsall,

The History Of Han China
Though the people of Islamic belief are scattered throughout China, the greatest concentration of
Muslims reside in the autonomous region of Xinjiang. This region is distinctly non Han in its
ethnic composition, since the Uyghurs account for nearly 75 percent of its population; the cultural
makeup of this region is comprised of Turkic language and beliefs in Islam (Clarke and Hayes 3).
However, the influx and growth of the Han Chinesepopulation in Xinjianghas created a language
barrier in which the Uyghurs have become the regional minority. In the past, the Uyghurs have been
continuously oppressed and silenced by their rulers. Even today, the Uyghur are subject to unfair
treatment in respect to education and professional opportunities.... Show more content on

After the revolution, the CCP attempted to reconcile by introducing policies allowing ethnic and
religious expression. This allowed Uyghur scholars to express their versions of history and culture,
which was not always consistent with Chinese rhetoric.
Unfortunately, China is taking steps back on their allowance of Islamic and Uyghur language
expression in Xinjiang. In March 2017, China banned burqas and abnormal beards in Xinjiang
claiming the action as a crackdown on religious extremism (Dearden, China bans... ). In July
2017, China went back on their allowance of Uyghur language in schools by banning its use in
Xinjiang (Staff, RFA. China Bans... ). In September 2017, the Chinese police ordered Muslims to
hand in copies of the Koran and prayer mats (Heffron, Chinese police... ). All of these efforts have
been claimed to regulate and reduce extremism.
One of the distinguishing characteristics between the Uyghurs and Han is the language, a
difference that can be detrimental for Uyghurs looking for success within the dominating Han
society. While the Han use Mandarin, the Uyghurs use a Turkic derivative that is significantly
divergent. The Uyghurs believe that their language is central to their ethnic identity and refuse to
allow it to be forgotten beneath the pressure of Mandarin use. However, it is difficult for

Collective Bargaining In The Workplace
With the passing of the National Labor Relations Act by Congress in 1935 private sector
employees were given the right to unionize and bargain collectively. Essentially this was a format
for employees to improve their wages and working conditions. This ended up allowing the States
to then decide if public sector employees were going to receive the same rights as private
employees and be able to unionize and bargain collectively for their working conditions. To simply
define public employees they represent workers at every government level. Basically teachers,
firefighters, police officers, postal workers and any other employee of the government at any level
that you can think of that provides services such as healthcare, education, and sanitation.... Show

The contract negotiations for these public workers are dependent not on private corporations,
but on the size of government budgets. This is the one segment of labor that can actually
contribute directly to the people because these jobs are considered a public service. It tends to
be the reason why you may see or hear about so much protesting from teachers attempting to
improve their work conditions and wages because they must unionize and get union leaders to
fight and make their bargains be heard. Believe it or not most states required schools to engage
in collective bargaining and other states allowed collective bargaining. For a job position that is
considered a public service and receives benefits from a government budget, it would make sense
for public employees to bargain for their benefits and concern. It s just not fair when the
government budget comes from the taxes of people and the money is not being distributed for the
right reasons. I think it s the politics of things because these workers are negotiating with the
government through union labor leaders and politicians but is there bargaining and unionization
actually leading to something beneficial to the people who publically serve us every day. Of
course it makes sense for them to unionize and fight for their lives and the lives of

Examples Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish
John Steinbeck suggests that to a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since everyone is
normal to himself . Just as some people are born missing limbs or with another physical birth
defect, such as a birthmark, others could be born missing a trait vital to communicate with the
world around them or lose a trait throughout the course of their life. Although this missing trait is
not visible to others in society, does not mean it is any less serious. For instance, Seymour has a
severe case of PTSD after returning from war that causes his actions to seem abnormal to those
around him, even his family. Furthermore, Seymour finds that the actions of those around him,
the materialistically obsessed, are difficult for him to cope with. In J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day
for Bananafish , Salinger depicts how life is for the monsters like Seymour in such a materialistic
society. Seymour, a seemingly normal man to the naked eye, is secluded from the world around
him. Searching for an escape from such an uninviting society, Seymour takes some big grasps for
help before committing to his eventual demise. Salinger begins his depiction of Seymour through
disdain before he brings the audience to his heart breaking conclusion. Salinger indicates that the
emotionally fragile cannot survive in a materialistic and superficial society because society is not
willing to accept those who are different. Salinger begins his short story by depicting a materialistic
society; in turn, he creates

The geocentric view of the universe was long since developed in ancient Greece by an
astronomer named Claudius Ptolemy (AD 90 168). Ptolemy believed that the sun, stars and other
planets revolved around the earth. The idea of Geocentric means everything revolves around
Earth. It wasn t long until Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 1543), an astronomer from Poland came up
with a new theory that the solar system actually revolved around the sun. He invented the idea of
a solar system. Revolutions (1543) was Copernicus final work explaining the heliocentric view of
the universe. The trouble was that nothing he could say or do made people feel they were living on

Authors tend to use different techniques in order to make the plot more interesting and compelling
to the audience they are trying to reach. One of the technique they use is foiling. They use foil in
order to develop characters. Character creation and the way a character acts really can affect the
stories the characters are from. When someone analyzes a character they have to take in mind their
feelings their emotions and how they are they want to connect with the characters on a whole new
level. Authors use foils to represent the main character in a better way, they utilize another character
that has opposing traits than the main character to do this. In the novels, The Sun Also Rises and

The Court Of A Bench Trial Essay
Our judicial system works hard every day to uphold the rule of law. Whether you are sitting in on
a case, watching Court TV, watching legal based movies, or whatever it may be, you notice that
there are different parties and people involved in the whole charade. There are different jobs within
our court system that coincide with each other to keep our courts strong and orderly. These jobs
include: judge, bailiff, stenographer, jury, clerk, and prosecuting attorney. These different jobs have
specific duties that help the court system thrive.Judges decide on the verdict if there is a benchtrial.
A bench trial is a trial by a judge as opposed to a trial by jury (Reuter, 2016). In a bench trial, the
judge is an unbiased third party advocate for justice. He or she determines the appropriate
punishment and sentence those convicted of crimes (Reuter, 2016). A judge takes on a couple
of roles in a bench trial such as, that of the referee who rules on the admissibility of evidence and
decides questions of law, and that of the finder of fact which ultimately determines how much
weight to give the testimony of different witnesses and the credibility of the evidence (American
Bar Association, n.d.). Some cases must be handled by a judge in a bench trial. A federal judge
who presides may be an Article III, Judge or a Magistrate Judge (Gray,Ritter, Graham, P.C., 2015).

Aerobic Work Capacity
The direction of our discussion followed the questions very closely. In fact, every member of
the discussion was successfully able to provide some input and some of their own personal
experience in response to every question. We began by discussing the importance of an
individual s aerobic work capacity within athletics, and then we related this importance to its
relevance to firefighters. When I asked the group for personal examples, they were easily able to
provide some examples of how aerobic work capacity has impacted their lives. For example, one
member of the group played basketball for four years in high school. Her head coach constantly
emphasized the importance of their cardiorespiratory fitness, while also educating his players
about aerobic work capacity. Aerobic work capacity can dictate how well an athlete performs,
particularly in a high intensity sport such as basketball. We spent a fair amount of time going
through everyone s personal examples of aerobic work capacity in their lives, while also
remembering to correlate this to the article s discussion of the importance of aerobic work
capacity for a firefighter s performance. We concluded that the article s findings and results were
legitimate and fair. Everyone in the group agreed that aerobic work capacity is important for
firefighters, but also for athletes and workers worldwide.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Green Light Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Baz Luhrmann portrays many symbols in the film, The Great to show the motivation and fate of
Jay Gatsby. The text itself is constructed using many symbols, which are incorporated to highlight
different elements of the film s message. The three major symbols in the film are the Green Light,
the Eyes from the Valley of Ashes and finally the Parties, which Gatsby frequently hosts.
Probably the most noticeable symbol in the film is the green light, which is situated at the end of
Daisy s dock but barely visible from Gatsby s dock. Gatsby is often depicted gazing into the
distance at the green light. Luhrmann positions Gatsby in this way because the green light
represents hope and his dreams for the future. Therefore it is evident that Gatsby ... Show more

However the green light represents Gatsby s dream of Daisy and how they would live as they

in the past, which is not what Daisy wants within the social context of their relationship it is clear
that the green light on a broader scale represents society s near impossible desire to achieve the
insatiable goal of the American Dream.
Another symbol that features regularly throughout the film is the large eyes painted on the old
advertising billboard overlooking the Valley of Ashes. These are the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg.
The eyes may represent God or another higher being looking down upon America judging the
society for the loss of spiritual values that it has attained. An example of the loss of spiritual values
is in the character of Tom Buchanan as he is constantly committing adultery and discriminating
against people on their heritage and ancestral background. Jay Gatsby is also an example of the

because the community depicted in the novel is undesirable and frightening by the standards of the

Essay On A Retrieved Reformation By O Henry
Love can change the view of everything for everyone. In the story, A Retrieved Reformation by
O. Henry, Jimmy Valentine was trying to live a moral life. But after planning to do more crime,
love changed his life. Ending his life of crime as well. Jimmy Valentine was truly dedicated to
living a moral life by ending his safe cracking career, saving a life though, it would cost his
career, and being in a relationship. One strong detail to prove Jimmy was trying to live a moral
life was that he quit cracking safes. A quote to prove this is He opened a shoe store and secured
a good run of trade. (O. Henry, pg 3). By creating this new business, Jimmy could forget about
his old self. Another quote to prove this point is ...I ve quit the old business a year ago. (O.
Henry, pg 4). In Jimmy s letter to his old friend, he informs him that he has quit the old job of
cracking safes. A final quote to prove this correct is, After I get married I m going to sell out and
go West, where there won t be so much danger of having old scores brought up against me. (O....

One detail to prove this theory right is, In a minute Jimmy s pet drill was biting smoothly
through the steel door. (O Henry, pg 6). After seeing a girl being trapped in a bank vault with no
person near the town that could save her, Jimmy knew what he had to do even if it would cost
his good life. Another reason that proves this right is, He set his suitcase on the table and opened
it out flat. (O Henry, pg 5). Jimmy opened the case of tools clearly recognisable by Ben meaning
he was going to sent to jail after. A final quote to prove this is, Got around at last, have you? Well
let s go, I don t know that it makes much of a difference now. (O Henry, pg 6) Jimmy knows he
was caught clearly going to jail, hence him admitting to his crimes. As you can see, Jimmy is living

The Paradox Of Democracy And Imperialism In 5th Century...
Plato once stated that Justice was about minding your own business and keep from meddling in
the business of other men and in relation to the four major virtues of civilization, this could be
interpreted in several different ways. Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of our history, and
he had a theory that every civilization was built on four underpinning virtues that are Wisdom,
Courage, Moderation, and Justice. While many may disagree that the Classical Greeks followed
these four virtues, it was clear that in a sense, they did.
However, it wasn t enough to consider them just, and thus, they did not create Plato s ideal
civilization. To begin, the Athenians are not entirely just. While they may have been just in the
eyes of man, in the eyes of woman and slave, they were not. In the article, The Paradox of
Democracy and Imperialism in 5th Century Athens it reads, The idea of universal human rights
would have been alien to the Athenians, who saw no need to grant women, slaves, and Metics equal
rights to those enjoyed by citizens. (Chua 3). This statement proves that only the Athenian men had
a sense of justice in the context that only the men had any stake in the society. The woman in
Athens were hidden in their husband s house meant only to take care of children and perform
household chores, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on Conflict, Disarray, and War in Democratic...
Recently, war has become a huge problem in many countries around the world. War is defined
as a violent mass conflict between two or more armed forces or actors in warfare. The
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), previously known as Zaire gained independence from
Belgium in 1960 and immediately descended into a state of conflict and disarray. It is a vast
country, covering territory about the size of Western Europe and include a wide variety of
geographic regions. However, the war is ravaging the land in one of the most complex African
conflicts. The Democratic Republic of Congo is currently at war due to several reasons. Conflict

A Critical Analysis Of Jackson Pollock And Steve Jobs
All individuals living within a community, are constantly being influenced by others while they
develop their personalities, habits, and morals. Some people are naturally inclined to follow and
others are confident enough in their own thinking to lead. A leader must think for themselves,
allowing their uniqueness to translate into creative solutions. An individual s decision to follow an
unpopular path will always be either applauded or scrutinized by others, which can be
discouraging. It is important for individuals to both listen to what others have to say about their
work, while also remaining confident in their abilities. Trailblazers like Jackson Pollockand Steve
Jobsshow that in order for an individual to successfully take their own path in life and perpetuate
it, they must find their calling, be confident in their abilities, and listen to other s critiques without
allowing themselves to become filled with pressure or self doubt. Jackson Pollock succeeded in
developing a new artistic technique to depict the world by accepting culture s initial reactions
understandingly and remaining confident in himself. Pollock broadly describes the origin of his
use of abstract expressionismin a 1949 interview with William Wright. He explains how he
practiced many of the great historical art techniques in school, but felt that the modern painter

Mesiah will try and sound out each individual sound out loud and then she will try and pronounce
the word as whole to the best of her ability. She is also beginning to self monitor as she is reading

when the correct spelling may come to her. Mesiah really likes asking for help as well. I love to
assist Mesiah because I know she does not always get the one on one instruction on a regular basis.
And I know that is really what she needs.
Instructional Plan:
Based on my assessments, I have developed the following instructional goals in the areas of
reading, writing, and spelling. Each instruction made is intended to strengthen her skills and
strategies and accelerate Mesiah in these specific areas.
I will focus on Mesiah s strengths. The best way I found to do this is by creating a positive,

I will continue to focus on sight words, reading, and spelling. I will do this by administering

The article is a quantitative research study. There were three types of data collected in this study.
Data was collected through structured interviews, inter rater and validity data, statistical analysis,

A trained research assistant carried out the interview after receiving preparatory training that
consisted of 12 test interviews, under the guidance of the first author. These interviews were
instructed to clarify the exposure information if the interviewee was inconsistent in their response
by using other sources such as (police reports, medical files). The structured interview covered
offender and offence specific information, exposure to alcohol, and illegal and prescribed

Downfall Of The Aztecs
The Aztec and Mesoamerican indigenous societies were some of the most well developed pre
industrial civilizations with populations that averaged out approximately a twenty million prior to
Spanish conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These civilizations were also onlookers to one of
the worst demographic tragedies in history seeing population losses of almost ninety percent, down
to one million occupants a century after conquest (Marr and Kiracoffe 2000). These demographic
tragedies were in the form of epidemics of both New and Old World origin and as a result of and

Both were warlike, mercantile people, avaricious and quick to resort to force. The Aztecs even
managed to defeat the Spaniards on what is now considered La Noche Triste, when three
quarters of the twelve hundred Europeans in Mexico City died; this is considered the greatest
indigenous victory in all the conquest wars to this day (Wright 1992:43). The one factor that the
Aztecs did not have to their advantage was biology, specifically disease, and this would prove to
be their downfall. Aztecs were vulnerable to the diseases the Spaniards brought over from the
Old World as well as being particularly susceptible to a new strain of disease neither the
Spaniards nor the Aztecs had seen before; Cocoliztli. Cocoliztli was Nahuatl for great pestilence
(Acuna Soto, Romero, Maguire 2000). Over the course of three centuries, these diseases continued
to ravage the indigenous population, at the end of which only a small percentage remained. These
diseases severely weakened the indigenous population s ability to resist the ongoing Spanish
influence and dominance and made it increasingly difficult to form the large groups of warriors
that might more effectively have resisted the Spaniards. One has to count the spread of new to the
Americas disease as a major factor in the Spanish success. Perhaps the most striking quality of these
epidemics was their selectivity for the indigenous population. Spanish priests and religious members

The Life of Fidel Castro
Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz, born in BirГЎn, Cuba on August 13, 1926, changed his country ever
since he came to power. Castro s father, ГЃngel Castro y Argiz, was a wealthy plantation owner and
was an immigrant from Galicia, Spain. His mother, Lina Ruz GonzГЎlez, was ГЃngel s mistress
and house servant while ГЃngel was still married to Maria Luisa Argota. Castro was educated in
many Jesuit boarding schools, from grade school to middle school, in which he was a mediocre
student and was not well behaved, only focusing on playing sports. Although Castro attended a
religious boarding school, it did not affect him in any way and was still getting into trouble as a
young child. After Castro graduated from high school he studied law at the University of Havana.
In his classes, he became very fond of anti imperialism, socialism, and the political climate of
Cuban nationalism, which had helped him while in power. On February 16,1959, Fidel Alejandro
Ruz Castro was sworn in as Prime Minister of Cuba. Castro secretly started to turn to
Communism. He wanted to nationalize plantations and factories. The U.S. is known for its strong
opinion on democracy, so when the U.S. heard this, it caused lots of friction between Cuba and
the U.S. so Castro denied that he wanted to control Cuba as a communist. Castro then signed the
First Agrarian Reform Law, which prohibited foreigners from owning land in Cuba while also
only allowing 993 acres of land per citizen. Castro was then trying to develop

Abstract
Due to rapid urbanization and uncontrolled growth rate of population, solid waste management has
become acute in India. The current practices of the uncontrolled dumping of waste on the outskirts
of towns/cities have created a serious environmental and public health problem. Plastic waste
which is biggest problem in waste management is recycled in India in an unorganized way. 60% of
the plastic waste collected and segregated gets recycled back into materials for further processing

Land filling shall be restricted to non biodegradable, inert waste and other waste that are not
suitable either for recycling or for biological processing. Land filling shall also be carried out for
residues of waste processing facilities as well as pre processing rejects from waste processing

Binary Options Strategy Essay
Binary Options Strategy
A Binary Option Strategy provides you an opportunity to earn big profits from a trade. Although
the stakes may be high, but this particular kind of trading has an edge over dozens of trading
methods you can predict the outcome of the trend for a short period of time. Typical trading in the
stock market takes much longer weeks or months before you see the outcome. But once you start
utilizing Binary Options strategies as a means to trade, its expiry date may only take like an hour or
so.
Making use of a Binary Option Strategy has its benefits. For one, you are given several options to
purchase, trade, and sell your stocks. While assessing market risks, you can protect your money
and invest it by selecting the best strategy from out of the Binary Options strategies and hope that
the results will in your favor.
We all know that with Binary Options, you trade by predicting the outcome. This concept is like
the Toss Coin game, where you toss the coin and predict if the outcome is the heads or the tails. If
you predicted a heads, and you turn out correct, then you win something. If the outcome is the tails,
then that s a different matter. You lose everything. So how can this be applied in Binary Options
strategies? Using the toss coin game, you try to forecast which prices of an asset, stock, or a
commodity, are going up or going down. You get a percentage of the initial investment you have if
the odds are in your favor.
You have to admit that

The Discovery Of The Guatemalan Archives
The latter part of this course, we read Kristen Weld s book Paper Cadavers. This book captured
the importance of the discovery of the Guatemalan archives. An intense amount of work was put
into recovering approximately 80 million documents from the government after decades of
internal warfare. This reconstruction of public memory was extremely important for those
involved in recovering and sifting through the documents, the families and friends who lost
people during the civil war, to Guatemala and the discovery also held significance international
(Weld). A few years later in March of 2008 files were seized by the Colombian Armed Forced

leader of FARC) who was killed during the raid along with 24 other insurgent members (Walser).
This led to some controversy about the files later on. The Colombian Armed Forces handed over

The Lack Of Accessibility Of The American Dream
Imagine living in a perfect world where people can do what they want with their life; a world
without discrimination, where art is just as important as math. Well, it s not going to happen. At
least not in the next century. The lack of accessibility of the American dream is especially apparent
in the essay by Kesaya Noda, The Four Freedomsby Franklin Roosevelt, Veterans Day: Never
Forget Their Duty from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and an excerpt from The Newsroom . The
American dream is inaccessible to the majority of people in America. In the story, a hyphenated
American, a Japanese American girl is segregated due
To her race: I can see myself today as a person historically defined by law and custom as being
forever alien. Being neither free white, nor African, our people in California were deemed
aliens, ineligible for citizenship no matter how long the intended to stay here. Aliens ineligible
for citizenship were prohibited from owning, buying, or leasing land (Noda). Due to the
stereotypes and racism caused by being a minority in America, she is limited in what she can do
and therefore cannot achieve what is perceived to be the American dream. Noda expresses how
her parents were discriminated against, how they never had the opportunity to achieve the
American dream because other people didn t view them as equals when she says our parents
were painted as hard workers who were socially uncomfortable and had difficulty expressing even
the smallest opinion. Clean, quiet, motivated, and determined to match the American way; that is
us, and that is the story of our time here (Noda). Nobody saw her parents as fellow humans and
because of it, they didn t even have a chance at living the American dream. What is the American
dream? The American dream is what the founding fathers wanted for our country. That perfect life
where nobody had to worry about personal and economical safety. When Franklin Roosevelt wrote
The Four Freedoms , the American dream is what he was writing about. In his article, Roosevelt
states the basic things expected in America: Equality of opportunity for youth and others. Jobs for
those who can work. Security for those who need it. The ending of special privilege

As fall began in 1970, California had experienced practically no rainfall for many months,
humidity levels dropped to being practically non existent, and the earth was scored from the

Essentially, an Incident Command Systems provides the basis of information in which the local,
regional, or state response organization use to control the efficiency and functionality of response to
an event or disaster. ICS encompasses five major systems which are, command, operations,
planning, logistics and finance (Haddow, et. al., 2013). There are also three types of Incident
Command: single, unified and area. A Single Incident Command involves one area, with one event,
and one Incident Commander. Unified Command involves an event that spans jurisdictional
boundaries and, therefore, warrants involvement of multiple Incident Command Systems and
communication and coordination between respective Incident Commanders. Area Command spans,
or has potential to, a very large area, such as a public health emergency as suggested by Haddow,
Bullock and Coppola (n.d.). Since its development, the ICS has proven to be a useful and valuable
tool in emergency management. By following guidelines established within an ICS, individual and

, Free Trade, and Fair Trade. I will also
touch upon of the coffee industry influences farmers, middleman, and consumers.
In 1963, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) was established. The ICO was first made to
assist the economies in Africa and South America. This organization abides by international
agreements made under the supervision of the United Nations. The ICO is the most effective
agreement produced to control the supply of coffee. These agreements contributed a quota system
and price control that benefited both importing and exporting nations. Not only was the ICO fair to
both sides, it also provided a fair price to the consumer which resulted in the rise in consumption
(The Economics of Coffee).
Shockingly, most of the success of the ICO was allocated to the United States. The United States
helped enforce the quota system to help provide a stabilized economy for poor Latin American
countries. Enforcing the agreements also prevented communism in these countries. Once the
United States withdrew from the

Postpartum Depression In The Yellow Wallpaper
When thinking about adding a new addition into a household, there are many things to consider. A
main point would question the parents of the future child/children regarding their ability to have a
stable income and a big enough house to accommodate the growth in their family. Throughout the
pregnancy, the parents will face many eye opening situations, but do we ever consider what can
happen after a woman conceives the child/children.
Recently in class, my classmates and I have read and watched different resources that explained the
effects of postpartum depression. While discovering these resources, each had a different way of
explaining the effects of postpartum depression throughout different women. While researching
postpartum depression, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Negative Effects Of Stress
Stress, what is it, how it Affects you and How to Deal With it
Riley C. Keim
Culver Stockton College
Stress, what is it, how it Affects you and How to Deal With it
Stress can have both positive and negative effects on your body. Stress is what gives a person that
last burst of energy in a competition. Stress is what keeps people up at night, what makes them
stray from their normal diet and it can even go as far as making someone physically ill.
What is stress? Stress is one s body s natural response to threats and pressure. Athletes feel stress
during any game or race, students feel stress before a big test or exam. Workers feel stress when
they are assigned to a big project or up for a promotion. Stress causes feelings of nervousness,
low energy, and even tenses us up and makes us feel on edge and easily irritable. When a person
is stressed out their adrenal gland kicks into overdrive causing high levels of adrenaline in the brain.
Distress is negative stress in a person s life. Examples of distress may include,
The death of a family member
The death of a lifelong friend
Separation from your spouse
The end of a long relationship Having money issues
If distress is not handled correctly it can lead to the feelings of hopelessness, irritability, and even
getting physically ill.
Eustress is the good stress in a person s life. Eustress can be caused by events such as
Entering into big tournaments
Being up for a promotion at work
The holiday seasons

Alice Walker Setting
The use of a literary technique such as setting can play a significant role in developing the main
conflict within a storyline. Purposefully, writers will incorporate setting in order to establish the
main conflict or plot within the text. In addition, the use of setting can further extend the reader s
knowledge and understanding of the message pertaining to the situation that the author is
conveying. Consequently, the setting can be a critical element that helps the readers understand the
main conflict presented by the author in a story. Further, the setting has a tremendous influence on
what happens in the story since it plays a role into the reason as to why the conflict occurs. The

In The Flowers, the major conflict of the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man is
depicted through the use of setting. As mentioned previously, the mood of the short story
towards the conflict is a dark mood. Further, it could be inferred that the historical era was
between the 1870 s to the 1950 s. This can develop the conflict because it creates a reason as to
why or how the conflict came to be. In other words, the setting is the cause to the effect which is
the conflict. The conflict of The Flowers, was mentioned earlier to be the loss of innocence due
to the sight of the dead man. This can be presented within the text in paragraph 8 when the writer
states, Myop laid down her flowers. From this quote, it can symbolize Myop s growth to
youthfulness due to her sincere and mature actions. However, the sight of the dead man and the
rope hanging on the tree can show Myop s loss of innocence since she had experienced an
unpleasant situation where she must grow mentally in order to conquer her emotions. The
historical era inferred to be around the 1870 s to the 1950 s can give a reason as to how the
conflict started which was the lynching of the man. The idea of lynching, which can be inferred
from the description of the noose hanging from the tree, had occurred in the United States from the
1880 s to the

If Mommy Was Breastfeed Essay
If Mommy is sick, can she breastfeed?
When you are sick, you and your baby will almost always benefit from continuing to breastfeed.
There are very few illnesses that require a mother to stop nursing.
Since most illnesses are caused by viruses that are most contagious before you even realize you
are sick, your baby has already been exposed before you even develop symptoms (such as fever,
diarrhea, vomiting, rash, runny nose, cough, etc). Continuing to breastfeed will help protect your
baby from the infection, because your body produces antibodies to the specific organism that is
causing the infection, and you pass them on to the baby in your breast milk. Often, a breastfed baby
will be the only member of the family who doesn t get sick. If ... Show more content on

If you are diabetic, breastfeeding offers many advantages. It reduces your stress level, reduces the
risk of the baby developing diabetes
Mothers with epilepsy can nurse. The medications needed to control the seizures may cause
sedation and poor sucking in your baby.
Thyroid levels can change during pregnancy and lactation, even with mothers who never had
thyroid irregularities before.
An underactive thyroid can cause fatigue, poor appetite, and depression. Thyroid supplements
taken during lactation will not hurt your baby. An overactive thyroid can cause serious health
problems. If radioactive therapy is recommended, temporary weaning may be necessary. Keep in
mind that all of the OTC medications approved for use in nursing mothers are very safe, and in
nearly all cases, the risk of side effects on your baby is extremely small. You are not going to hurt
your baby. Remember all the advantages of human milk and how important breastfeeding is to you
and your baby, and try to find a supportive health care provider who believes that nursing is as
important as you

Friedrich Froebel and Marie Clay Friedrich August Wilhelm Froebel was born in Oberweissback,

surrounding his home most of the time. His deep love of nature would later influence his
educational philosophy. He did not become educated until age eleven. When he was fifteen years
old, he was apprenticed to a Forester. He then studied at the University of Jena. He accepted a

to God through song, dance, plays, and games. Froebel called his approach to education self
activity and self representation ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000; Ransbury, 1995). Therefore the teacher s
role is as a guide, not a lecturer ( Friedrich Froebel , 2000). He was also the first to introduce the
concept of curricula appropriate to a child s developmental level (Woodill,1995).
Froebel designed Kindergarten to children s needs in physical activity, the development of sensory
awareness and physical dexterity, creative expression, exploration of ideas and concepts, the
pleasure of singing, the experience of living among others, and satisfaction of the soul ( Friedrich
Froebel , 2000). Until his death in 1852, he was devoted to making Kindergarten known. The
German immigrants brought the idea of Kindergarten to the United States in the nineteenth century.

both sent a journey, having to overcome many obstacles to and as a result become epic heroes.
Secondly, both the Greek and Romans underworlds are worlds that Aeneas and Odysseus are
both sent to in order to receive help. Further, both heroes see a place filled with many suffering
people who are being judged. And finally, the Greek and Romans take the games very seriously

Cost Function in Railways
Introduction
This assignment focuses on the cost functions of the Dutch Railways. In this tutorial will be an
estimated cost function developed for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). This cost function
(expressed in Dutch Guilders) is based on the period of Year 1951 till Year 1993. This due to
certain developments that made it more difficult to come to a good approach of a cost function.
Based on the cost function, developed in this tutorial, there will be an answer provided on the
question whether is it efficient to allow competition on the tracks.
First we will define a cost function related to the NS. Then we will describe the important variables.
After defining the cost function, the relevance of the cost function will be explained. ... Show more

The type of production function is as follows Y=f(X), where Y is the maximum produced outputs
and X is the given inputs. For every unit of input there is a price g related to it.
As said earlier if the company has a cost minimizing strategy then the earlier type can be written as
follows:
Min∑в
–’гЂ–XgгЂ—^
The results of the above type gives as the cost function for every level of Y given the input prices g.
So the type for the cost function is C= h(Y,g).
In the case where the firm does not follow a cost minimizing strategy it is preferable for the
company to calculate a cost output relation. In other words it is better to sum the costs and relate
them to the input so that it can easily predict the effect of changes in output levels on total cost.
The reason for not taking into account all the variables is that in the case of a public firm if we
calculate many unnecessary variables then we will have a higher variance of the estimated
parameters of the necessary variables. In this case our results will be biased as if the goal of the
company is to minimize cost and we were missing data e.g. the input prices.
The most important step in producing the cost function is the estimation of its parameters. The
most common form that is used for the calculation of production function is the Cobb Douglas
form. Cobb Douglas is a linear function and has many restrictions as the assumption that all

Why Is Laerte A Noble
Nobility is a trait that many men seem to desire. It is not necessarily genetic nor can one
purchase it like other traits, such as clothing, but rather is earned demonstrated. What makes one
noble is not easily determined, despite being the desire of many individuals. Whether it is nobler,
more honorable, and more admirable to live on one s knees or to die on one s feet has been a
source of debate for centuries. In his tragic play Hamlet, William Shakespeare proves that it is
nobler for one to die for what he believes in than to live in inaction.
Laertes was noble because he died for his cause, avenging his father s death and defending his
father s honor, but he would not have been had he not sought revenge. Towards the end of the play,
Laertes returns from France upon hearing that his father died, but he misses the funeral because of
its haste. Furious, Laertes leads a mob into the Castle Elsinore and, upon finding King Claudius, ...

  • 2. Alexander Glazunov Research Paper Alexander Glazunov was one of the many talented, Russian composers of the romantic period. He was only a boy of nine years when he started playing piano, which he was naturally gifted at; he started composing his own music at the age of eleven. When his talent was discovered by the former head of The Russian Five, Mily Balakirev, news spread quickly to the famed composer Nikolai Rimsky Korsakov who sought to meet this young, high school aged, composer. Glazunov was taught privately by Rimsky Korsakov at the conservatory of St. Petersburg; Rimsky said that His musical development progressed not by the day, but literally by the hour . When Glazunov was only sixteen, Rimsky Korsakov premiered his work and Alexander Borodin, among others,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He contributed to Russian music in more ways than one, but the way that most people would agree that he helped was that he kept nationalism strong during the roughest times of WW1 and the Russian revolutions. His traditionally Russian sound was inspired by the nationalistic Balakirev, with the fabulous orchestration of Rimsky Korsakov, the larger than life sound of Borodin, shaped by the beautifully lyrical sound of Tchaikovsky, and structured with the potent counterpoint of Sergei Taneyev. Glazunov remains one of the most well known Russian composers of his time, and his legacy lives on in the beautiful modern recordings of his many symphonies, string quartets, ballets, and concerti. He will always hold a place in the heart of the national Russian sound, with the echoes of the grand halls of the Russian Music Society concerts, his soul rings in his music, untouched by the harsh dissonance that so oft is felt in society ... • 3. College Is The Best Way For People College and Business College is the best way for people to be successful. A famous journalist, Dan Rater has said, A college degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of opportunity. Many people feel lost after they graduated high school, they don t know what challenge is waiting for them; and they have to make the toughest decision in their lives: either go to college or go to work, those two choices will completely change people s lives. Education can improve people s lives, and everybody can be educated by going to college; with no doubt, going to college will be the wisest decision people ever made. It is important to go to college. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They don t really care about the salary, most of them just want to explore their interest and develop their potential ability. Choosing the right major, especially choose the major that have the highest value is very important. Students have to take a carefully consideration before they decide to extend their intended major. As college students, if they choose the right major, that means they will steer their destiny and have a bright future. Otherwise, if people make an improper decision, they will not just waste their time and money in college, but also will ruin their lives and future by themselves. In the other hand, the number of people who choose business as their major is increasing, which means business is becoming more and more popular and many people start to realize the important of learning business. Business is an organization or system that involve the trade of goods and services. People used to relate the firms and companies to business, because the use of business is very extensive. One country import and export products to another country, during the process, it requires lots of people who have plenty of business skills; so that is one of the reason why many students choose business as their major. Business are becoming more and more significant for people, even the country. People use GDP to measure the economic status of countries; and people trade goods and services almost every day. The ... I am not discussing the rights of speech, press, and freedom of religion, or rather lack thereof in many countries today. I am discussing another right: the Right of Death. All previously mentioned rights have been discussed widely now for over three centuries, yet the Right of Death has only now been discussed sparingly for three decades. And the lack of the Right of Death leads to more suffering than any of the previous rights mentioned. Even in today s most just and free countries, we often find this right missing. They feel like doctors must perform Medical Assisted on any eligible patient, regardless of what that doctor s beliefs about the matter are. To those who have good common sense, this belief seems almost entirely irrationally. Yet as this state of mind commonly arises in the populace, I will briefly respond to it. Let us begin by discussing this topic in legal terms, by once again going back to the American Declaration of Independence. As in the previous case, law and government are entirely matters of interpretation and so the liberty and life previously mentioned mean that a doctor or a member of a medical staff is at liberty to refuse to take the life of another person for reasons which are not relating to discrimination. In fact, A majority of doctors approve of the practice of physician assisted suicide, but most say they would not perform it themselves according to a University of Michigan study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. (Assisted) The most probable reason for this, is that these doctors believe that Medical Assisted Suicide interferes with the practices of their own religious beliefs. This is quite frequent, as according to deathwithdignity.org, more than twenty widespread religions, or sects of religions, are commonly opposed to Medical Assisted Suicide. Among these are Anglicans, Baptists, Buddhists, Roman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Analysis Of Jane Campion s The Piano Applying a postcolonial perspective, write an analysis of the ideas and values in Jane Campion s The Piano Looking at Jane Campion s The Piano through a post colonial perspective ideas of isolation, civilised vs the uncivilised, and authority and the power as a result of European settlement in New Zealand can be examined. Jane Campion s The Piano explores cultural differences between the native Maori people of New Zealand and the newly arrived Europeans. The first aspect that must be taken into account in this analysis is the physical setting. The film is set within the lush bush of New Zealand just off the coast in the 1850s. The setting itself is intriguing, and very intense in its complexity and density, but yet provides an air of isolation and confinement for the newly arrived Ada. Upon arrival to the beach their shelter for the night, is set against the backdrop of a hostile and empty coast. Ada s surroundings act as a canvas to display the displacement of European settlement. The Maoris often complement the natural environment, working with it in their movements, rather than against as do Ada and Flora. They are shown struggling through the mud and the new terrain in situations where the Maoris fit in seamlessly with their surroundings. Their property is also immediately surrounded my tree trunks, rather than the rich greenery seen elsewhere in the film, symbolic of the Europeans destructions as a result of colonisation. Campion utilises costuming to display the authority and power of the European culture, whilst also criticising its limitations. The natural setting is often juxtaposed with the Europeans dark, and structured clothing, which is ultimately entirely impractical. Ada wears her exuberant, yet dull Victorian clothing, whilst Stewarts clothing is often almost too small, confining and restricting. Her costuming immediately draws the intrigue of the locals, as does her fair skin, isolating her further. This use of costuming highlights how out of place the Europeans are, but also their ignorance of the realities of their environment. This is compared with the Maori s more natural, relaxed clothing that blends with the naturalistic environment. However, there are often aspects of European ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All the moths that lived inside her are freed and the narrator learns some life lessons. Helena Maria Viramontes uses symbolism and setting to illustrate the oppression of women in The Moths. Her family was fairly religious though the narrator herself saw no point in going to the chapel: I had forgotten the vastness of these places, the coolness of the marble pillars and the frozen statues with blank eyes. I was alone. I knew why I had never returned (Viramontes 1329). The narrator felt no warmth or comfort in going to church. It was a cold empty place for her. The author used women s oppression to write stories like, The Moths. The narrator learns that a person can follow the rules and still not be smothered by traditions and rules. Even though the general purpose and utilization of these insurances is the same across the nation, prices fluctuate from state to state. We will get into more detail in regards to Errors and Omission Insurance (E O) in the State of California. Errors and Omission Insurance, also called Professional Liability Insurance or Malpractice Insurance, is used to cover legal expenses caused by potential errors and omissions during operations and stipulation of cases. When a company or firm is sued for making a mistake, performing services in a negligent way or misrepresenting or financially harming a client, the consequences can harm a company in an irreversible way. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since E O insurance is important to carry when running a business most professions have this type of insurance to cover a potential lawsuit that would otherwise cause them to file for bankruptcy. It may come as a surprise that some states do not require businesses to have E O insurance, but a large portion of contracts with clients required insurance for the contract to be in effect. Having an E O insurance policy may sometimes be a selling point for potential clients. When a client sees that a business has this type of insurance it gives them peace of mind knowing that if there happens to be any error or omission throughout the process they will be compensated. The same applies to the actual company. It makes it easier to accept new clients and cases knowing that in case of any alleged misunderstanding or disputes, the policy would bring in protection and coverage. According to techinsurance.com about 70% of businesses raise prices or cut hiring when sued and yet, $35 billion = annual out of pocket cost of lawsuits for small businesses. These numbers are a clear indication of how important E O is for a business to operate. Before getting into pricing, perhaps we should take a look at the overall market around the E O, including how companies are hedging themselves against the possibility of a lawsuit. • 10. The History Of Han China Though the people of Islamic belief are scattered throughout China, the greatest concentration of Muslims reside in the autonomous region of Xinjiang. This region is distinctly non Han in its ethnic composition, since the Uyghurs account for nearly 75 percent of its population; the cultural makeup of this region is comprised of Turkic language and beliefs in Islam (Clarke and Hayes 3). However, the influx and growth of the Han Chinesepopulation in Xinjianghas created a language barrier in which the Uyghurs have become the regional minority. In the past, the Uyghurs have been continuously oppressed and silenced by their rulers. Even today, the Uyghur are subject to unfair treatment in respect to education and professional opportunities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the revolution, the CCP attempted to reconcile by introducing policies allowing ethnic and religious expression. This allowed Uyghur scholars to express their versions of history and culture, which was not always consistent with Chinese rhetoric. Unfortunately, China is taking steps back on their allowance of Islamic and Uyghur language expression in Xinjiang. In March 2017, China banned burqas and abnormal beards in Xinjiang claiming the action as a crackdown on religious extremism (Dearden, China bans... ). In July 2017, China went back on their allowance of Uyghur language in schools by banning its use in Xinjiang (Staff, RFA. China Bans... ). In September 2017, the Chinese police ordered Muslims to hand in copies of the Koran and prayer mats (Heffron, Chinese police... ). All of these efforts have been claimed to regulate and reduce extremism. One of the distinguishing characteristics between the Uyghurs and Han is the language, a difference that can be detrimental for Uyghurs looking for success within the dominating Han society. While the Han use Mandarin, the Uyghurs use a Turkic derivative that is significantly divergent. The Uyghurs believe that their language is central to their ethnic identity and refuse to allow it to be forgotten beneath the pressure of Mandarin use. However, it is difficult for ... • 11. Collective Bargaining In The Workplace With the passing of the National Labor Relations Act by Congress in 1935 private sector employees were given the right to unionize and bargain collectively. Essentially this was a format for employees to improve their wages and working conditions. This ended up allowing the States to then decide if public sector employees were going to receive the same rights as private employees and be able to unionize and bargain collectively for their working conditions. To simply define public employees they represent workers at every government level. Basically teachers, firefighters, police officers, postal workers and any other employee of the government at any level that you can think of that provides services such as healthcare, education, and sanitation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The contract negotiations for these public workers are dependent not on private corporations, but on the size of government budgets. This is the one segment of labor that can actually contribute directly to the people because these jobs are considered a public service. It tends to be the reason why you may see or hear about so much protesting from teachers attempting to improve their work conditions and wages because they must unionize and get union leaders to fight and make their bargains be heard. Believe it or not most states required schools to engage in collective bargaining and other states allowed collective bargaining. For a job position that is considered a public service and receives benefits from a government budget, it would make sense for public employees to bargain for their benefits and concern. It s just not fair when the government budget comes from the taxes of people and the money is not being distributed for the right reasons. I think it s the politics of things because these workers are negotiating with the government through union labor leaders and politicians but is there bargaining and unionization actually leading to something beneficial to the people who publically serve us every day. Of course it makes sense for them to unionize and fight for their lives and the lives of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Examples Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish John Steinbeck suggests that to a monster the norm must seem monstrous, since everyone is normal to himself . Just as some people are born missing limbs or with another physical birth defect, such as a birthmark, others could be born missing a trait vital to communicate with the world around them or lose a trait throughout the course of their life. Although this missing trait is not visible to others in society, does not mean it is any less serious. For instance, Seymour has a severe case of PTSD after returning from war that causes his actions to seem abnormal to those around him, even his family. Furthermore, Seymour finds that the actions of those around him, the materialistically obsessed, are difficult for him to cope with. In J.D. Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish , Salinger depicts how life is for the monsters like Seymour in such a materialistic society. Seymour, a seemingly normal man to the naked eye, is secluded from the world around him. Searching for an escape from such an uninviting society, Seymour takes some big grasps for help before committing to his eventual demise. Salinger begins his depiction of Seymour through disdain before he brings the audience to his heart breaking conclusion. Salinger indicates that the emotionally fragile cannot survive in a materialistic and superficial society because society is not willing to accept those who are different. Salinger begins his short story by depicting a materialistic society; in turn, he creates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ptolemy believed that the sun, stars and other planets revolved around the earth. The idea of Geocentric means everything revolves around Earth. It wasn t long until Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 1543), an astronomer from Poland came up with a new theory that the solar system actually revolved around the sun. He invented the idea of a solar system. Revolutions (1543) was Copernicus final work explaining the heliocentric view of the universe. One of the technique they use is foiling. They use foil in order to develop characters. Character creation and the way a character acts really can affect the stories the characters are from. When someone analyzes a character they have to take in mind their feelings their emotions and how they are they want to connect with the characters on a whole new level. • 15. The Court Of A Bench Trial Essay Our judicial system works hard every day to uphold the rule of law. Whether you are sitting in on a case, watching Court TV, watching legal based movies, or whatever it may be, you notice that there are different parties and people involved in the whole charade. There are different jobs within our court system that coincide with each other to keep our courts strong and orderly. These jobs include: judge, bailiff, stenographer, jury, clerk, and prosecuting attorney. These different jobs have specific duties that help the court system thrive.Judges decide on the verdict if there is a benchtrial. A bench trial is a trial by a judge as opposed to a trial by jury (Reuter, 2016). In a bench trial, the judge is an unbiased third party advocate for justice. He or she determines the appropriate punishment and sentence those convicted of crimes (Reuter, 2016). A judge takes on a couple of roles in a bench trial such as, that of the referee who rules on the admissibility of evidence and decides questions of law, and that of the finder of fact which ultimately determines how much weight to give the testimony of different witnesses and the credibility of the evidence (American Bar Association, n.d.). Some cases must be handled by a judge in a bench trial. A federal judge who presides may be an Article III, Judge or a Magistrate Judge (Gray,Ritter, Graham, P.C., 2015). In fact, every member of the discussion was successfully able to provide some input and some of their own personal experience in response to every question. We began by discussing the importance of an individual s aerobic work capacity within athletics, and then we related this importance to its relevance to firefighters. When I asked the group for personal examples, they were easily able to provide some examples of how aerobic work capacity has impacted their lives. For example, one member of the group played basketball for four years in high school. Her head coach constantly emphasized the importance of their cardiorespiratory fitness, while also educating his players about aerobic work capacity. Aerobic work capacity can dictate how well an athlete performs, particularly in a high intensity sport such as basketball. We spent a fair amount of time going through everyone s personal examples of aerobic work capacity in their lives, while also remembering to correlate this to the article s discussion of the importance of aerobic work capacity for a firefighter s performance. We concluded that the article s findings and results were legitimate and fair. The text itself is constructed using many symbols, which are incorporated to highlight different elements of the film s message. Probably the most noticeable symbol in the film is the green light, which is situated at the end of Daisy s dock but barely visible from Gatsby s dock. Plato once stated that Justice was about minding your own business and keep from meddling in the business of other men and in relation to the four major virtues of civilization, this could be interpreted in several different ways. Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of our history, and he had a theory that every civilization was built on four underpinning virtues that are Wisdom, Courage, Moderation, and Justice. While many may disagree that the Classical Greeks followed these four virtues, it was clear that in a sense, they did. However, it wasn t enough to consider them just, and thus, they did not create Plato s ideal civilization. To begin, the Athenians are not entirely just. While they may have been just in the eyes of man, in the eyes of woman and slave, they were not. In the article, The Paradox of Democracy and Imperialism in 5th Century Athens it reads, The idea of universal human rights would have been alien to the Athenians, who saw no need to grant women, slaves, and Metics equal rights to those enjoyed by citizens. This book captured the importance of the discovery of the Guatemalan archives. An intense amount of work was put into recovering approximately 80 million documents from the government after decades of internal warfare. This reconstruction of public memory was extremely important for those involved in recovering and sifting through the documents, the families and friends who lost people during the civil war, to Guatemala and the discovery also held significance international (Weld). A few years later in March of 2008 files were seized by the Colombian Armed Forced during a raid. These archives belonged to the insurgent group called The Revolutionary Armed Forced of ColombiaPeople s Army or FARC. The files belonged personally to Raul Reyes (a leader of FARC) who was killed during the raid along with 24 other insurgent members (Walser). This led to some controversy about the files later on. The Colombian Armed Forces handed over the archives to Interpol, so they could be decoded and analyzed. These two sets of documents are different discoveries of public memory that impacted lives as public memory was reconstructed. • 37. The Lack Of Accessibility Of The American Dream Imagine living in a perfect world where people can do what they want with their life; a world without discrimination, where art is just as important as math. Well, it s not going to happen. At least not in the next century. The lack of accessibility of the American dream is especially apparent in the essay by Kesaya Noda, The Four Freedomsby Franklin Roosevelt, Veterans Day: Never Forget Their Duty from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and an excerpt from The Newsroom . The American dream is inaccessible to the majority of people in America. In the story, a hyphenated American, a Japanese American girl is segregated due To her race: I can see myself today as a person historically defined by law and custom as being forever alien. Being neither free white, nor African, our people in California were deemed aliens, ineligible for citizenship no matter how long the intended to stay here. Aliens ineligible for citizenship were prohibited from owning, buying, or leasing land (Noda). Due to the stereotypes and racism caused by being a minority in America, she is limited in what she can do and therefore cannot achieve what is perceived to be the American dream. Noda expresses how her parents were discriminated against, how they never had the opportunity to achieve the American dream because other people didn t view them as equals when she says our parents were painted as hard workers who were socially uncomfortable and had difficulty expressing even the smallest opinion. Clean, quiet, motivated, and determined to match the American way; that is us, and that is the story of our time here (Noda). Nobody saw her parents as fellow humans and because of it, they didn t even have a chance at living the American dream. What is the American dream? The American dream is what the founding fathers wanted for our country. That perfect life where nobody had to worry about personal and economical safety. When Franklin Roosevelt wrote The Four Freedoms , the American dream is what he was writing about. In his article, Roosevelt states the basic things expected in America: Equality of opportunity for youth and others. Jobs for those who can work. Security for those who need it. I will also discuss different fiscal organizations that directly affect the coffee industry s prices like the International Coffee Organization, World Trade Organization , Free Trade, and Fair Trade. I will also touch upon of the coffee industry influences farmers, middleman, and consumers. In 1963, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) was established. The ICO was first made to assist the economies in Africa and South America. This organization abides by international agreements made under the supervision of the United Nations. The ICO is the most effective agreement produced to control the supply of coffee. These agreements contributed a quota system and price control that benefited both importing and exporting nations. Not only was the ICO fair to both sides, it also provided a fair price to the consumer which resulted in the rise in consumption (The Economics of Coffee). Shockingly, most of the success of the ICO was allocated to the United States. The United States helped enforce the quota system to help provide a stabilized economy for poor Latin American countries. Enforcing the agreements also prevented communism in these countries. Purposefully, writers will incorporate setting in order to establish the main conflict or plot within the text. Consequently, the setting can be a critical element that helps the readers understand the main conflict presented by the author in a story. In The Flowers, the major conflict of the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man is depicted through the use of setting. As mentioned previously, the mood of the short story towards the conflict is a dark mood. Further, it could be inferred that the historical era was between the 1870 s to the 1950 s. This can develop the conflict because it creates a reason as to why or how the conflict came to be. In other words, the setting is the cause to the effect which is the conflict. The conflict of The Flowers, was mentioned earlier to be the loss of innocence due to the sight of the dead man. This can be presented within the text in paragraph 8 when the writer states, Myop laid down her flowers. From this quote, it can symbolize Myop s growth to youthfulness due to her sincere and mature actions. However, the sight of the dead man and the rope hanging on the tree can show Myop s loss of innocence since she had experienced an unpleasant situation where she must grow mentally in order to conquer her emotions. The historical era inferred to be around the 1870 s to the 1950 s can give a reason as to how the conflict started which was the lynching of the man. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The type of production function is as follows Y=f(X), where Y is the maximum produced outputs and X is the given inputs. For every unit of input there is a price g related to it. As said earlier if the company has a cost minimizing strategy then the earlier type can be written as follows: Min∑⠖’гЂ–XgгЂ—^ The results of the above type gives as the cost function for every level of Y given the input prices g. So the type for the cost function is C= h(Y,g). In the case where the firm does not follow a cost minimizing strategy it is preferable for the company to calculate a cost output relation. In other words it is better to sum the costs and relate them to the input so that it can easily predict the effect of changes in output levels on total cost. The reason for not taking into account all the variables is that in the case of a public firm if we calculate many unnecessary variables then we will have a higher variance of the estimated parameters of the necessary variables. In this case our results will be biased as if the goal of the company is to minimize cost and we were missing data e.g. the input prices. The most important step in producing the cost function is the estimation of its parameters. The most common form that is used for the calculation of production function is the Cobb Douglas form. Whether it is nobler, more honorable, and more admirable to live on one s knees or to die on one s feet has been a source of debate for centuries. Laertes was noble because he died for his cause, avenging his father s death and defending his father s honor, but he would not have been had he not sought revenge.
