A Brief Description of Alex Rodriguez
The star third baseman, the man with the incredible swing, and the quarter billion dollar man. All
these things can be used to describe Alex Rodriguez but now you can add cheater, liar, and drug
abuser. Alex Rodriguez, also known as A Rod, has been involved in an investigation going on for over
a year about his use of performance enhancing steroids. Starting on January 29th, 2013 Alex
Rodriguez s name was included in an article by the Miami New Times that link him to Biogenesis, an
anti aging clinic that had been discovered to be supplying MLB players with performance enhancing
drugs. Rodriguez, along with star right fielder Ryan Braun and 17 others, became part of the longest
doping suspension in history. All of the other players accepted the 50 60 game suspensions, but
Rodriguez would receive an unprecedented 211 game suspension. This caused Rodriguez to appeal.
The MLB released the following statement explaining the extended suspension of Rodriguez. For use
and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance enhancing drugs substances, including
Testosterone and Human Growth Hormone, over the course of multiple years. For attempting to cover
up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate
the Office of the Commissioners suspension. Rodriguez announced that he would continue his appeal.
When the hearing for Rodriguez s case began on September 30th 2013, the MLB stated their case first.

Due Process
Due Process
Crystal Groff
Strayer University
Professor Freeman
Abstract
We all wonder what the words life, liberty, and property derived from. In this paper I will be
explaining what due process is and how it relates to life, liberty, and property. I will also explain
where due process came from and what 2 amendments relate to due process. Before we start though I
would like you to know that due process is there to protect the defendant under proving guilty.
Define due process and its origin? Due process refers to a set of established legal principles, derived
from the Constitution, that seek to protect the rights if citizens. It is done to insure that the government
treats all the individuals properly and does not abuse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Substantive refers to the specific rights being denied, even if the process is deemed fair. Actions are
taken by the state in a process that would be considered fair, but could still be challenged on the basis
that it improperly denies a right. Substantive is which includes all your basic amendment rights. An
example could be Griswold vs. Connecticut (1995). Connecticut law made it illegal for doctors to
dispense birth control to their patients. The court ruled that the law violated the Constitution not
because it was passed or applied improperly, but because it denied that patients their right to privacy.
Another example could be the law that Pennsylvania has that everyone that wants to vote will need to
show a valid ID to prove that no laws are being broken. This applies because it goes against a person
right to speech and freedom. One good example I like to think due process came from was from the
Bible on the Garden of Eden, because God did not immediately punish them. The first thing that God
did was ask Where art thou Adam? Thereby giving him notice. God gave him a chance to be heard by
asking Didn t thou eat the forbidden fruit (The Beginning, 2007)? In my options this in when due
process came into affects; no one would like to relate due process to the Garden of Eden time.

Analysis Of The Film The Golden Girls Essay
Since the age of nine, I ve had a dream of becoming a screenwriter, and a movie producer. Where
others only want to see a show or a movie, I have always wanted to be behind the scenes in the
creation of the art. Being behind the scene and being involved in the creation of the film has always
fascinated me. When I was a in 3rd grade I remember watching the Golden Girls. One Saturday
morning, I turned to Lifetime, and there was an elderly lady who was so short and cute, I just could
not turn the channel. The woman s name was Sophia and she made me laugh from the time I had
started watching the TV show until it had gone off. That day Lifetime was running a marathon of the
Golden Girls; those four ladies made me giggle, and smile. So it was then that I started to wonder
about who is behind the TV shows and movies, because I saw myself being that person. At that time I
did not know about a producer or film maker all that I knew is that I wanted to become a part of tv
shows. The Golden Girls made me want to have my own TV series that was just as funny, and that
would make people laugh just as I had done when I watched it. I began carrying a notebook and a pen
everywhere I would go. I would jot down funny lines, and different ideas for scripts for a movie or a
TV series. I then realized that I wanted to become a screenwriter and a film producer. As a
screenwriter, I want to create TV series that brings joy and comfort to all people, no matter what. My
goal as a screenwriter and

The Essential Historiography Reader Summary
In The Essential Historiography Reader by Caroline Hoefferle, and The Penguin History of Europe by
J.M. Roberts, both authors write about what modern history is. Hoefferle, breaks down the evolution
of history and how its recorded into three different periods of time. She starts with ancient history,
then moves into medieval and finishes with modern history. Roberts, believes that modern history was
shaped in three centuries. Both authors agree on what modern history is, but only Hoefferle really
goes into detail about the transition from how history was recorded in the ancient world up until the
evolution of modern history. Hoefferle begins her book with the start of early histories, noting key
ancient Greek historians such as Homer, Herodotus, and Thucydides. ... Show more content on

16). Homer told stories and history traveling across the country and followed a mythopoetic tradition,
but nothing was recorded (Hoefferle, p. 16 17). The revolutionary shift came from the emergence of
historians who criticized Homer s lack of applied rationalist methods to the study of their past
(Hoefferle, p. 16). Herodotus was the first to break away from that tradition and attempted to study the
world through observable evidence ( Hoefferle, p. 17) Herodotus thinking was very different and
intuitive for the time period. He was interested in describing, not only what happened, or where it
happened but also why certain things occurred (Hoefferle, p. 17). This way of thinking would become
the foundation for history as it would be practiced in Western Civilization for the next two thousand

Analysis Of Global Sparks
PAS Scenario 2 Global Sparks
Background
Global Sparks (GS) is an international energy company headquartered in London. It employs almost
30,000 staff, 11,000 of which work in the US, and has an annual revenue of £14,800 million. It started
buying local electricity suppliers in the US in the late 2000s, and built up a substantial group of
companies on the West Coast. GS went through a process of consolidating its acquisitions into a single
company, and in a now de regulated market, it had to cut costs to keep its prices competitive. This led
to the decision to outsource IT to an Indian company, and connect stand alone systems to a network to
enable remote operation and maintenance. Since then, there has been a period of growth, and ... Show

Document Control
In 2012, the US government introduced a new law, stating that documents containing sensitive
information (such as locations and blueprints of power generating plants) have to be redacted. Access
to un redacted documents is from now on a strict need to know basis: only by employees whose work
depends on access to the information can access the un redacted provided they have:
passed a 5 year security background check (this process takes 4 weeks once the documents have been
submitted), and completed the online training course (takes 5 6 hours to complete) on how to protect
sensitive information.
The legislation makes possession of un redacted documents by unauthorised persons a criminal
offence, and allows governments to withdraw licences from any company found to allow access to
unauthorised individuals. GS invests in a document management system to hold the un redacted
versions of documents, and appoints a

Cholera Essay
Background:
Cholera is a dehydrating illness that affects millions of people worldwide. Although cholera vaccines
can provide some protection against illness, the protective efficacy conferred by current vaccines are
not equivalent to natural infection of Vibrio cholerae (1,2). To combat cholera infection, the WHO has
proposed a global initiative to reduce cholera deaths by 90 percent by 2030. In this call to action, the
WHO designates the improvement and distribution of oral cholera vaccines as essential to success (3).
The vibriocidal antibody assay is the gold standard for assessing patient immunogenicity to cholera
infection. The assay quantifies the inhibition of bacterial growth due to serially diluted complement

Many of the antibodies characterized were specific to the o antigen, part of the lipopolysaccharide
(LPS) in the outer membrane of V. cholerae (4). After reviewing this study, we selected the IgG P1 A2
monoclonal antibody, specific to the o antigen, as an appropriate vector to standardize the vibriocidal
through standard killing of V. cholerae in a vibriocidal assay. IgG P1 A2 was chosen due to its low
EC50 (ng/mL) concentration relative to the other monoclonal antibodies (Fig. 1A B). By using a
standard concentration of monoclonal antibody run alongside serum in a vibriocidal assay, cross lab
differences in serum titer can be adjusted for by relative differences in IgG P1 A2 antibody
concentrations at the fifty percent growth inhibition point of the bacteria.
Investigating Cross Lab Variation: To investigate this hypothesis, data had to be generated to employ
the standardization method. In collaboration with investigators at the University of Utah and the
icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh), the serum of 45 and 30
cholera patients from Haiti and South Sudan were analyzed by vibriocidal against the V. cholerae
strains PIC018 Inaba and PIC018 Ogawa with a serially diluted monoclonal antibody standard. By
running part of the cohort at MGH, I developed a proficiency in the vibriocidal assay. I then analyzed

Energy, Water, And Food
1. Abstract
Energy, water, and food are interdependent on one another. Water is the main contributor for the
production of agriculture along with other food substances. The distribution of water is reliant on
energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and
energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society.
The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to
extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Using water in irrigation
diverts river flows. Energy can be produced from rivers but diverting water to agriculture creates a
lower flow. The balance of the trade offs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Energy security is the concept that government should protect its citizens from crises that may arise
between the availability and consumption of energy. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of power
supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources.
Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different
societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The limited
availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages.
Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing supply
fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Addressing these securities require collaboration among the
sectors. Interdisciplinary communication in the politics of each sector can help plan for future
potential conflict. 3. Interactions Among Security Sectors
Energy, water, and food sectors work together in many ways. Water is used for the extraction of
energy supplies such as fossil fuels. It is also used in mining and processing energy supplies. Energy is
used in machinery for growing food and it is also used in the transportation of food supplies.
Agriculturally, feedstock is grown to create biofuels which generate power and electricity. The
cultivation of the amount of feedstock needed to create biofuel is

Maria Gaetana Teresi Research Papers
Maria Gaetana Agnesi was born on May 16, 1718 in Milan, Habsburg Empire, known today as Italy.
She was Italian mathematician and a philosopher. Agnesi was born into a wealthy family, her father
was a professor for the University of Bologna. Her father mainly encouraged her in her studies and
provided the best tutors. At the age of five, she could speak Italian and French. A couple years later
she learned Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Spanish, and German. And by fourteen she was already learning
geometry and ballistics. According to an Encyclopedia article, her own father liked to show off her
knowledge by organizing a gathering, by establishing in his home a cultural salon where she could
present theses on a variety of subjects and then defend them in academic disputations with leading
scholars (Kramer, n.d.) . In her home gather local celebrities and academic people. Agnesi would
discuss about several things with those noble men. In 1738, at the age of twenty, Maria Agnesi

Why Do People Use Natural Gas
Natural gas is one of the most beneficial resource our environment has to offer to us and people need
to use this resource because it is so cheap. Companies include the Prius with Toyota, the Leaf with
Nissan or another innovation in electric or hybrid motoring who are using electricity in their cars
because they are trying to get in to the environmental friendly automotive market. Honda came out
with a better idea when they made the Honda Civic Natural Gas car. The reasons being, this car is
different than those of the electric cars is that it uses natural gas to run the car and the positive effect it
has on the environment is the fact that when using the resource it gives off partial zero emissions into
the environment. Honda Civic has really changed the automobile industry because people are copying
their idea of using natural gas to run their cars like Chevy did with their 2014 F 150 truck and ... Show

Essay Liberalism vs. Conservatism
Democratic representatives scream about right wing conspiracy while radio talk shows lament the evil
of liberal agenda. News broadcasters are branded as chauvinist conservatives by Hollywood pundits or
liberal bigots by Christian broadcasting. Everywhere someone is firing the label gun plastering liberal
or conservative on their opponents and many Americans are scratching their heads trying to
understand the division and difference between both.
Liberalism, formed in the latter part of the 18th Century from opposition to existing political
monarchies in Europe, was based on rights of individuals and the responsibility of government to
protect those rights. Conservative philosophy was born as a reaction to dangerous tendencies ... Show

Conservatives challenged this idea with the traditional concept of individualism. To achieve and
contribute to American society each member should be held responsible for their actions, increase
their education, and work to foster basic traditional beliefs of love for country and family, self
discipline in the young, and a unfaltering faith in God.
Today the basic ideals of liberalism have been distorted into principals that can only result in
destruction of the traditions and values America was founded on. Liberals, through President Johnson
s plan and support of the NEA, gained control of the educational system. Today public schools
(government schools) disregard basic educational standards producing graduating students without
basic math and reading skills. Conservatives turn away from government schools in disgust and home
school programs are increasing across America. And guess what...teaching traditional values result in
higher achievements for those students. To eliminate poverty liberals have increased taxes at every
opportunity they are given. Our welfare program today is based on Johnson s own statement, The
game plan is to tax the country s producers for the benefit of those that don t produce. And look where
that philosophy has taken us. The welfare rolls are filled with individuals that base their life on welfare
checks. Now

Caicos Fishing Cycle
The Terrifying Canoe Ride in Turks and Caicos
Have you ever gotten stuck in the middle of ocean? Well, I have. It happened when I was only 10
years old, in the middle of the summer when I was on vacation in Turks and Caicos. While I was
there, I was so eager and excited to canoe. It was one of many things you can do that the hotel offered
and I kept bugging my mom and my siblings to do it. When they finally agreed to do it, I didn t know
how much trouble it would put me in the future and all my other siblings into too. I learned from this
event to always be sure on how to do something before you actually do it. Or just not to be a smarty
pants and think that I know how to do something perfectly when really, I could use a lot of help.

him that are brother was swimming toward shore. Then they went and picked up brother who was still
swimming for dear life not even knowing the snorkeling boat was behind him! All three of us kids
were a complete mess! While on the boat, my sister, brother, and I were in a quiet mood of panic.
When I got back on the shore, I saw my mom smiling and then laughing. At first, I was a little irritated
because she was laughing and her kids could have been killed! But then after my mom told me she
knew we would be safe because one of the workers was already coming to get us, but the other
snorkeling boat saw us first. This is my experience when I went canoeing and then got stuck in the
middle of the ocean. We then got picked up by a snorkeling boat and then safely got back to the shore
to realize my mom was laughing. Getting lost in the middle of the ocean is not fun, so remember,
make sure you know how to canoe before you go out in the ocean and do it! Even though this
experience doesn t impact me on a day to day basis, I can still remember as if it just happened

Simon And Garfunkel s Like A Bridge Over Troubled Water
Complete But Not Finished The tune of Simon and Garfunkel s Like a Bridge over Troubled Water,
one of the greatest songs of all time, whispered in my ear. I pulled the heaps of fuzzy blankets up to
my chin and nestled myself in my safe haven, my private escape. I concentrated on Garfunkel s
angelic voice as he sang, Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind. I was ready for my
unwinding tactic, just four minutes and fifty one seconds that left me in sublime awe, and the stress
was sure to disappear for a while. My exhausted eyes grew heavy, my heart defrosted, and my mind
wandered... How did I become? When I was younger I had a seemingly abnormal requirement: the
seam of my socks absolutely had to be precisely aligned on my toes, no lower, no higher. Looking

Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto Essay
Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
The path of life is not easy. It is scattered with struggles and hurdles which we must overcome. A rose
plant is a good metaphor of life; the flower is soft with a pleasant fragrance but the thorns are prickly
and hurt us. Likewise, life has good things like laughter, happiness, hope but it also has some things
that hurt us, obstruct us.
In Banana Yoshimoto s novella Kitchen, Mikage Sakurai faces quandaries in her life which hinder her.
However, she fights them back with hope and determination. She is aided by the Tanabe s who help

She says that maybe she had been hoping for a bed on which she could think calmly about her past
and future. She had found that bed in the Tanabe s apartment, close to the kitchen. There is symbolism
here; the kitchen is a symbol of comfort and peace for Mikage. Here, Mikage is giving the reader a
message that everyone has some symbol in their lives
Mikage comes to accept the fact that the past is irreversible and there is nothing we can do to change
it. The reality of the fact.........only one thing to do on pg 22, Mikage is trying to convince herself that
her past cannot be changed. She breaks off the sentence by saying only one thing to do but it can be
seen that she is thinking about her future than her past which is a sign that she is becoming more
optimistic about her life. Here Mikage is telling the reader that no one s past is reversible. Nothing can
change what has already happened. Instead, we must concentrate on the present, the reality. In Mikage
s case, this is very optimistic because she had not had a very happy past and she is trying to forget it
and think about her present situation. She is giving the reader, an indirect, useful quote. Eriko Tanabe
too has faced struggles in her life. After her sex change, she earned through her nightclub which she
bought from the spare money left after her plastic surgery. However, life was a constant struggle for

department was sold to Lenovo in 2014 as described by (news.lenovo.com,2017)15, having become

This trademark is for the flagship phone that Lenovo will release in 2017. Its name is considered
important because the Moto phones range was owned by Motorola and was one of the most popular
phones on the market in the early 2000s. Motorola was subsequently shunned by consumers, in favour
of brands such as Apple and Samsung. So Lenovo will try to rekindle the goodwill that the Motorola
brand had from the 00s. The word moto itself was used in both the advertising by Motorola in its early
advertising and in their naming of phones. To ensure that people will recognise the connection
between Motorola and Lenovo, there has been a decision to initially call the new product the Motorola

The final trademark is the main slogan that Lenovo use. The slogan is For Those Who DoTM . This

Public School Vs. Home Schooling System
In society, people have their own techniques of teaching and learning. Parents have their own
preference on whether they want their children in a public school or home schooling system. They
have to look at the advantages and disadvantages that come with making the right choice for their
child s education. Being home schooled, does not give the child the ability to be around new people.
Some parents cannot afford for their child to be home schooled, and choose to have them enrolled in
public school. Having students in a public school has a better learning aspect and more affordable.
Parents have to look at the optimistic choices that come out of their child attending a Public school.
Public school is a place for students to interact and communicate with their peers. Students learn how
to act with their friends, either in a negative or positive manner. They have to learn to associate with a
diverse culture of people. Children have to understand different personalities because everyone is not
the same. Parents have to be willing to let a child go out and find their personality and some freedom.
A public school offers advanced learning and skills for children of all ages and disabilities. Public
school allows students to have full attention and extra help from their teacher. Especially if the child is
having problems at home, they have another adult person they can look to for help. They are given
counselors that are specialized to assist students with their difficulty either

Why The Wicked Don t Care About Preferences
It was once said that since outer space was practically infinite, there was no way that alternative
universes couldn t exist. They say that s where we came from, there are endless theories from all types
of viewpoints. Some call us godsends, some call us monsters. We call ourselves people. We didn t
mean for it to happen, most of us would have prefered if it didn t. The wicked don t care about
preferences, they don t care about anything besides themselves. They weren t thinking of anyone but
themselves when they cast that spell, they weren t thinking on anyone but themselves when they sent a

Those of us that came over didn t age, how could animations age? We were given human personas to
help blend in, some of us tried to construct lives knowing that we may never reach home again but,
ultimately we gave up. It s rather demotivating when you have to watch the people you care about
grow older while you never age. They changed our names, most of us. I m Cindy now, Mickey got

ourselves. That s not hard, the country that we re trapped in has been reduced to rubble because of our
villains and the most magical place on Earth is the hell that we re forced to stay in. We got turned into

All Dreams Can Come True If We Have Courage
As Walt Disney once said All dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. Courage is
something that everyone is born with, but only some are courageous enough to find it and put it to use.
Merriam Webster s defines courage as Mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand
danger, fear, or difficulty. Courage can overcome any obstacle, proving that if we have courage any
dream truly can come true. As readers we must understand that there are going to be times in life when
we must use courage. By reading about others, and learning how to find the courage within, the reader
is able to learn that courage truly is self identifiable. There may be people along the way to help one
find courage. However, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next day he went on a live show on the voice of America and angrily condemned the attacks. It is
very frightening to speak up against something so powerful and evil, example: The Taliban. However,
if the whole world were to realize that the power of these hate groups comes from the creation of fear,
maybe everyone would be a bit more like Malala s dad, and not have the fear to speak up for what is
right. The author is trying to show us that no matter our circumstances we can all find the courage to
fight for what we know is right. Malala is a prime example of courage because her life was put on the
line. However, she walked the tightrope over the hate of the Taliban. She reached the tallest building
and was able to achieve the greatest of accomplishments. Including being the youngest person ever
nominated for the Nobel
Peace Prize. Malala was able to accomplish many extraordinary things thanks to her courage.
The next example of a quiet girl with a loud mind is Maya Angelou. Maya was born in Arkansas and
raised with her grandma. For her whole life she never knew if she had parents, so she created the
perspective that she had been abandoned and unwanted. Though a negative outlook, a realistic one for
a child who had never received anything from the so called parents that brought her into this cold,
lonely world. I wouldn t have to wonder whether I loved him or not, or have to answer Does Daddy s

Compromise in the Pre-Civil War Era APUSH DBQ
Ever since declaring its independence from Britain, America has developed on the foundation of
compromise. Upon the drafting of the Constitution, the Founding Fathers were succumbed to
compromise in order to incorporate the needs of the different parts of the nation. During the early
eighteenth century, Americans achieved reconciliation of political disputes, predominately between
the North and the South, through compromise. By 1860 this was no longer feasible and the nation was
faced with disheartening threats to its unity. Sectionalism in the Union was further increased. Tariffs
were commonly accepted by one part of the nation and debated by the other. The economy of the
North and South was becoming increasingly divergent the North ... Show more content on

As a result of the Compromise of 1850, California was admitted as a free state, the territory disputed
between Texas and New Mexico was surrendered to New Mexico, the slave trade was abolished in the
District of Columbia, the Mexican Cession was open to popular sovereignty, and a stronger Fugitive
Slave Law was enacted. In a speech to the Senate on March 7, 1850, Senator Daniel Webster stated his
opinion that the North is wrong for not obeying the Fugitive Slave Law and that succession is amiss
[Document D].The tone of Webster s speech is objective as he attempts to see both sides the North and
the South. Webster is unbiased because as a Northern man, he agrees with the South. The peace was
only temporary. The Fugitive Slave Law upset Northerners and the Underground Railroad became
more active, peaking between 1850 and 1860. Massachusetts went so far as to making it a penal
offense for a state official to enforce the act. The act also brought the issue of slavery into the
limelight before the entire nation. In fact, by 1858, there was no avoiding the subject of slavery.
During the Lincoln Douglass Debates in a speech at Alton, Illinois on October 15, 1858, Abraham
Lincoln stated that slavery was no longer just a political issue [Document G]. Slavery was splitting the
nation and during the Second Great Awakening, even churches split over the issue. Lincoln s speech is

I vividly remember this Thursday evening after school. My father was taking me and my sister home,
as he did every day. When we arrived at the beginning of our steep private drive, he put the car in park

When he opened the driver door he simply said, No absolutely not . I was relentless and begged him to
let me drive up the hill. I had my Temporary Permit I knew what I was doing, or at least I thought I

Analyzing The Menace Of Mass Destruction
Analyzing The Menace of Mass Destruction Although many people carry on with their daily life half
indifferent and half frightened, their tomorrow s fate solely lies in their thoughts, actions and decisions
at the current time. The Menace of Mass Destruction is a speech that was previously given by Albert
Einstein to the General Assembly and the Security arm of the United Nations during the second yearly
dinner of the Foreign Press Association. Ideally, the speech is among the most influential speeches
ever given because it addresses critical issues that threaten human peace, outlines the reasons for the
mishaps, and provides adequate solutions to their problems. The speech is the most effective since it
focuses on the real issues affecting today s generations that in turn determines the future generations
peace and stability. In addition, it gives guidelines into how different nations can live peacefully
without posing threats to the future generations. Furthermore, Einstein s speech was effective since he
grabbed the attention of his audience through the use of various literary and rhetorical devices. He
applies logos to pass on valuable information to his audience. For instance, he notes that fear and
anxiety result into hatred and aggressiveness. He also asserts that fear and distrust usually fasten
conflicts among nations. In addition, progressive growth in technology has been the cause of the ever

Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales
Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it
ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes similarities
are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times, the ties are so
strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties, the alterations
made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In composing The Canterbury
Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of narrators. This indicates that Chaucer
likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations made by Chaucer to the source material for the
Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive
to examine issues such as marriage as was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind
of the Marquis, as well as Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale,
but also adds to its traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for
women in general.
Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the
Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works diverge
in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led readers to
presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy

Renewable Sources Of Energy Sources
Energy Sources
Introduction
Energy sources have been identified as being vital in running virtually all domestic and industrial
operations. There are two types of energy sources; renewable energy sources and nonrenewable
energy sources. Renewable energy sources refer to the kinds that are naturally replenished. These
include sunlight, the wind, ocean tides, waves, geothermal heat and rain (Tiwari et al., 2012).
Nonrenewable energy sources, on the other hand, are the kinds that do not renew themselves at a rate
sufficient enough to meet human demand. Fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas,
minerals, metal ores and groundwater all comprise nonrenewable energy sources (Verma et al., 2015).
In recommending the category of choice having weighed the benefits and demerits of each, science
has played an important role. According to scientific research, nonrenewable sources of energy are not
recommended due to the massive demerits that come with their use.
The renewable sources of energy listed above have some advantages. They are naturally occurring and
thus do not require much effort to harness. Besides, they are natural components of the environment
whose use does not contribute to environmental pollution (Tiwari et al., 2012). The fact that they are
never depleted also guarantees users who have installed the necessary harnessing machinery, of a
continuous supply of energy. Despite these advantages, however, there also exist some demerits. Much

The Influence Of Western Culture In Disney s Aladdin
Even the most seemingly harmless of __ can change the way we treat peopl. In Aladdin, Aladdin is a
street rat until he finds a magic genie lamp, which can grant him three of his wishes. However, the
villain Jafar, who put him up to finding the lamp, has a different idea for its uses. In the end, Aladdin
has to save Princess Jasmine and the city of Agrabah with the influential help of the genie from Jafar
and his evil forces. In Disney s Aladdin, the culture in Agrabah is presented through an orientalist
lense, suggesting the population in Agrabah needs, wants, and would be better off with the influence
of western culture; this representation is in order for Disney to justify the United States cultural
colonization.

At the end of the film, after Jasmine and Aladdin defeat Jafar with the help of the genie, they thank the
genie for all of his help. Then, Aladdin and Jasmine ride off into the sunset on their magic carpet.
When the couple disappears from sight, the moon turns around, laughing, and it is the face of the
genie. The genie not only represents western culture, but he represents the person in western culture
who has power. He demonstrates this because he his the moon looking down over his domain.
Additionally, the colonialist discourse has an element of justification on their action for helping the
colonized people. They believe that it is their duty to help them. Thus, when the genie is the moon, he
represents the contentment the colonizers have over supposedly helping the colonized. The genie
helped the people in the Orient obtain what they want. For example, Aladdin obtains everything he
wants because he gets Jasmine s affections and he is no longer poor. Additionally, he and Jasmine sing
a whole new world for you and me as they ride into the sunset, which signifies that they have been
exposed to the culture because together they have experienced a whole new world. Disney suggests
that their objet petit a is to have this influence of new cultures and to experience a whole new

  • 2. A Brief Description of Alex Rodriguez The star third baseman, the man with the incredible swing, and the quarter billion dollar man. All these things can be used to describe Alex Rodriguez but now you can add cheater, liar, and drug abuser. Alex Rodriguez, also known as A Rod, has been involved in an investigation going on for over a year about his use of performance enhancing steroids. Starting on January 29th, 2013 Alex Rodriguez s name was included in an article by the Miami New Times that link him to Biogenesis, an anti aging clinic that had been discovered to be supplying MLB players with performance enhancing drugs. Rodriguez, along with star right fielder Ryan Braun and 17 others, became part of the longest doping suspension in history. All of the other players accepted the 50 60 game suspensions, but Rodriguez would receive an unprecedented 211 game suspension. This caused Rodriguez to appeal. The MLB released the following statement explaining the extended suspension of Rodriguez. For use and possession of numerous forms of prohibited performance enhancing drugs substances, including Testosterone and Human Growth Hormone, over the course of multiple years. For attempting to cover up his violations of the Program by engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate the Office of the Commissioners suspension. Rodriguez announced that he would continue his appeal. When the hearing for Rodriguez s case began on September 30th 2013, the MLB stated their case first. A few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Due Process Due Process Crystal Groff Strayer University Professor Freeman Abstract We all wonder what the words life, liberty, and property derived from. In this paper I will be explaining what due process is and how it relates to life, liberty, and property. I will also explain where due process came from and what 2 amendments relate to due process. Before we start though I would like you to know that due process is there to protect the defendant under proving guilty. Define due process and its origin? Due process refers to a set of established legal principles, derived from the Constitution, that seek to protect the rights if citizens. It is done to insure that the government treats all the individuals properly and does not abuse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Substantive refers to the specific rights being denied, even if the process is deemed fair. Actions are taken by the state in a process that would be considered fair, but could still be challenged on the basis that it improperly denies a right. Substantive is which includes all your basic amendment rights. An example could be Griswold vs. Connecticut (1995). Connecticut law made it illegal for doctors to dispense birth control to their patients. The court ruled that the law violated the Constitution not because it was passed or applied improperly, but because it denied that patients their right to privacy. Another example could be the law that Pennsylvania has that everyone that wants to vote will need to show a valid ID to prove that no laws are being broken. This applies because it goes against a person right to speech and freedom. One good example I like to think due process came from was from the Bible on the Garden of Eden, because God did not immediately punish them. The first thing that God did was ask Where art thou Adam? Thereby giving him notice. God gave him a chance to be heard by asking Didn t thou eat the forbidden fruit (The Beginning, 2007)? In my options this in when due process came into affects; no one would like to relate due process to the Garden of Eden time. References Gonzales, Kristin. (2012). What is Due Process? Basic Rights and Fundamental Fairness. Retrieved from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of The Film The Golden Girls Essay Since the age of nine, I ve had a dream of becoming a screenwriter, and a movie producer. Where others only want to see a show or a movie, I have always wanted to be behind the scenes in the creation of the art. Being behind the scene and being involved in the creation of the film has always fascinated me. When I was a in 3rd grade I remember watching the Golden Girls. One Saturday morning, I turned to Lifetime, and there was an elderly lady who was so short and cute, I just could not turn the channel. The woman s name was Sophia and she made me laugh from the time I had started watching the TV show until it had gone off. That day Lifetime was running a marathon of the Golden Girls; those four ladies made me giggle, and smile. So it was then that I started to wonder about who is behind the TV shows and movies, because I saw myself being that person. At that time I did not know about a producer or film maker all that I knew is that I wanted to become a part of tv shows. The Golden Girls made me want to have my own TV series that was just as funny, and that would make people laugh just as I had done when I watched it. I began carrying a notebook and a pen everywhere I would go. I would jot down funny lines, and different ideas for scripts for a movie or a TV series. I then realized that I wanted to become a screenwriter and a film producer. As a screenwriter, I want to create TV series that brings joy and comfort to all people, no matter what. My goal as a screenwriter and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Essential Historiography Reader Summary In The Essential Historiography Reader by Caroline Hoefferle, and The Penguin History of Europe by J.M. Roberts, both authors write about what modern history is. Hoefferle, breaks down the evolution of history and how its recorded into three different periods of time. She starts with ancient history, then moves into medieval and finishes with modern history. Roberts, believes that modern history was shaped in three centuries. Both authors agree on what modern history is, but only Hoefferle really goes into detail about the transition from how history was recorded in the ancient world up until the evolution of modern history. Hoefferle begins her book with the start of early histories, noting key ancient Greek historians such as Homer, Herodotus, and Thucydides. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 16). Homer told stories and history traveling across the country and followed a mythopoetic tradition, but nothing was recorded (Hoefferle, p. 16 17). The revolutionary shift came from the emergence of historians who criticized Homer s lack of applied rationalist methods to the study of their past (Hoefferle, p. 16). Herodotus was the first to break away from that tradition and attempted to study the world through observable evidence ( Hoefferle, p. 17) Herodotus thinking was very different and intuitive for the time period. He was interested in describing, not only what happened, or where it happened but also why certain things occurred (Hoefferle, p. 17). This way of thinking would become the foundation for history as it would be practiced in Western Civilization for the next two thousand years (Hoefferle, p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of Global Sparks PAS Scenario 2 Global Sparks Background Global Sparks (GS) is an international energy company headquartered in London. It employs almost 30,000 staff, 11,000 of which work in the US, and has an annual revenue of £14,800 million. It started buying local electricity suppliers in the US in the late 2000s, and built up a substantial group of companies on the West Coast. GS went through a process of consolidating its acquisitions into a single company, and in a now de regulated market, it had to cut costs to keep its prices competitive. This led to the decision to outsource IT to an Indian company, and connect stand alone systems to a network to enable remote operation and maintenance. John offers to take over several of the tasks she currently does including managing access privileges for the Agile Development team and suggests Alice give him administrator access on all machines so take this task off her. Document Control In 2012, the US government introduced a new law, stating that documents containing sensitive information (such as locations and blueprints of power generating plants) have to be redacted. Access to un redacted documents is from now on a strict need to know basis: only by employees whose work depends on access to the information can access the un redacted provided they have: passed a 5 year security background check (this process takes 4 weeks once the documents have been submitted), and completed the online training course (takes 5 6 hours to complete) on how to protect sensitive information. The legislation makes possession of un redacted documents by unauthorised persons a criminal offence, and allows governments to withdraw licences from any company found to allow access to unauthorised individuals. • 7. Cholera Essay Background: Cholera is a dehydrating illness that affects millions of people worldwide. Although cholera vaccines can provide some protection against illness, the protective efficacy conferred by current vaccines are not equivalent to natural infection of Vibrio cholerae (1,2). To combat cholera infection, the WHO has proposed a global initiative to reduce cholera deaths by 90 percent by 2030. In this call to action, the WHO designates the improvement and distribution of oral cholera vaccines as essential to success (3). The vibriocidal antibody assay is the gold standard for assessing patient immunogenicity to cholera infection. The assay quantifies the inhibition of bacterial growth due to serially diluted complement standardized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the antibodies characterized were specific to the o antigen, part of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in the outer membrane of V. cholerae (4). After reviewing this study, we selected the IgG P1 A2 monoclonal antibody, specific to the o antigen, as an appropriate vector to standardize the vibriocidal through standard killing of V. cholerae in a vibriocidal assay. IgG P1 A2 was chosen due to its low EC50 (ng/mL) concentration relative to the other monoclonal antibodies (Fig. 1A B). By using a standard concentration of monoclonal antibody run alongside serum in a vibriocidal assay, cross lab differences in serum titer can be adjusted for by relative differences in IgG P1 A2 antibody concentrations at the fifty percent growth inhibition point of the bacteria. Investigating Cross Lab Variation: To investigate this hypothesis, data had to be generated to employ the standardization method. In collaboration with investigators at the University of Utah and the icddr,b (International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh), the serum of 45 and 30 cholera patients from Haiti and South Sudan were analyzed by vibriocidal against the V. cholerae strains PIC018 Inaba and PIC018 Ogawa with a serially diluted monoclonal antibody standard. By running part of the cohort at MGH, I developed a proficiency in the vibriocidal assay. I then analyzed the titers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Energy, Water, And Food 1. Abstract Energy, water, and food are interdependent on one another. Water is the main contributor for the production of agriculture along with other food substances. The distribution of water is reliant on energy. Energy is used to pump water from the ground. Water is used in agricultural irrigation and energy is used to harvest the crops for food. All three sectors are indicators of a strong society. The relationships between these three sectors come with a cost. High amounts of energy are used to extract water. Extraction is both monetarily and environmentally costly. Using water in irrigation diverts river flows. Energy can be produced from rivers but diverting water to agriculture creates a lower flow. The balance of the trade offs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Energy security is the concept that government should protect its citizens from crises that may arise between the availability and consumption of energy. Challenges are seen in the manipulation of power supplies because of uneven distribution to competition for energy resources. Food security is emphasized by the access to a supply of food. Throughout history, many different societies have struggled to maintain a sufficient supply of nutritious food for their citizens. The limited availability of food arose from factors such as droughts, war, energy shortages. Access to these three services is more about keeping a consistent supply to society, addressing supply fluctuations in times of extreme situation. Addressing these securities require collaboration among the sectors. Interdisciplinary communication in the politics of each sector can help plan for future potential conflict. 3. Interactions Among Security Sectors Energy, water, and food sectors work together in many ways. Water is used for the extraction of energy supplies such as fossil fuels. It is also used in mining and processing energy supplies. Energy is used in machinery for growing food and it is also used in the transportation of food supplies. Agriculturally, feedstock is grown to create biofuels which generate power and electricity. The cultivation of the amount of feedstock needed to create biofuel is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Why Do People Use Natural Gas Natural gas is one of the most beneficial resource our environment has to offer to us and people need to use this resource because it is so cheap. Companies include the Prius with Toyota, the Leaf with Nissan or another innovation in electric or hybrid motoring who are using electricity in their cars because they are trying to get in to the environmental friendly automotive market. Honda came out with a better idea when they made the Honda Civic Natural Gas car. The reasons being, this car is different than those of the electric cars is that it uses natural gas to run the car and the positive effect it has on the environment is the fact that when using the resource it gives off partial zero emissions into the environment. News broadcasters are branded as chauvinist conservatives by Hollywood pundits or liberal bigots by Christian broadcasting. Everywhere someone is firing the label gun plastering liberal or conservative on their opponents and many Americans are scratching their heads trying to understand the division and difference between both. Liberalism, formed in the latter part of the 18th Century from opposition to existing political monarchies in Europe, was based on rights of individuals and the responsibility of government to protect those rights. Conservative philosophy was born as a reaction to dangerous tendencies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conservatives challenged this idea with the traditional concept of individualism. To achieve and contribute to American society each member should be held responsible for their actions, increase their education, and work to foster basic traditional beliefs of love for country and family, self discipline in the young, and a unfaltering faith in God. Today the basic ideals of liberalism have been distorted into principals that can only result in destruction of the traditions and values America was founded on. Liberals, through President Johnson s plan and support of the NEA, gained control of the educational system. Today public schools (government schools) disregard basic educational standards producing graduating students without basic math and reading skills. Conservatives turn away from government schools in disgust and home school programs are increasing across America. And guess what...teaching traditional values result in higher achievements for those students. To eliminate poverty liberals have increased taxes at every opportunity they are given. • 32. Analysis Of Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales Understanding the sources for a particular work is an important task for literary critics, because it ultimately leads to a better understanding and appreciation of the work itself. Sometimes similarities are so weak as to strain the credulity of theories propounding influence. At other times, the ties are so strong that influence is near certain. However, regardless of the strength of such ties, the alterations made to an original source are very potent cues as to authorial intention. In composing The Canterbury Tales, there is a broad diversity of tales told by a wide range of narrators. This indicates that Chaucer likely used a wide variety of sources. The alterations made by Chaucer to the source material for the Clerk s Tale, including Boccaccio s Decameron X, or The Story of Griselda, indicate Chaucer s motive to examine issues such as marriage as was found in Renaissance Italy, and to explore the state of mind of the Marquis, as well as Griselda. Chaucer not only layers psychological depth to Boccaccio s tale, but also adds to its traditional veneration of the obedient and tractable wife a genuine admiration for women in general. Much critical ink has been spilled contesting the power of influence Boccaccio s work in the Decameron had over Chaucer in writing The Canterbury Tales. Indeed, though the two works diverge in both plot and subject, they also possess strong similarities. These convergences have led readers to presume that Chaucer engaged in heavy ... Nonrenewable energy sources, on the other hand, are the kinds that do not renew themselves at a rate sufficient enough to meet human demand. Fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas, minerals, metal ores and groundwater all comprise nonrenewable energy sources (Verma et al., 2015). In recommending the category of choice having weighed the benefits and demerits of each, science has played an important role. According to scientific research, nonrenewable sources of energy are not recommended due to the massive demerits that come with their use. The renewable sources of energy listed above have some advantages. They are naturally occurring and thus do not require much effort to harness. Besides, they are natural components of the environment whose use does not contribute to environmental pollution (Tiwari et al., 2012).
