Dagoberto Gilb Narcissism
Do you know the story of Narcissus? He was the very handsome fellow in Greek mythology who,
because of his indifference and disdain toward others, was punished by the gods by falling in love
with his own image. He was so enraptured by his beauty that he was unable to pull himself away from
his own reflection, and he wasted away and died. Narcissism is also considered a social and cultural
problem in America. It s not surprising to see a rise in narcissism in this generation given that young
people are being bombarded by these messages and sorts of commercial all day, every day through
every form of media. It is the same with Jake who is the main character in the story Love in L.A by
Dagoberto Gilb. In the story, Jake is consumed with himself and with gaining more pleasure for
himself. He wants much more than he has, and he wants it for him to be appraised by many women
and finally fell in love with him. He clearly sees himself as a ladies man and uses every opportunity to
COLLECT them. He thinks that having all the luxurious things will make him feel like invincible, like
he is the greatest human being that god created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many will argue that narcissism is just a behavior that will not pose any danger to anyone,
Gilb has a theme of narcissism, showing us that young and adult people these days are being infected
with this narcissism because of being materialistic, having unmanaged stress, and easy access on

Comparing David And Bernini s David
Michelangelo s sculpture of David, as seen on the left, was created during the Renaissance. His style
of creating the sculpture is very different from Bernini s David, which can be seen on the right. While
both of these sculptures are meant to resemble the same young man who defeated Goliath the giant,
their features and characteristics make them appear as two separate individuals. However, both
sculptures capture the personality of David. These sculptures share a common meaning, but qualities
such as stability versus instability, reserved versus involving, calm versus emotional, and light versus
dark set them apart. As both of the titles of the sculptures represent, the man is David in the Bible.
During both the time of the Renaissance and the time of Baroque, people were very religious. The two
show the heroism and braveness of the personality of David who had the help of God to defeat a giant
who was much larger than himself. Despite a similar purpose behind them, the style that the two
artists used created different feelings between the sculptures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He looks as if he is standing still in that position and he shows confidence as he is going to defeat the
giant because he knows that God is going to help him. This is different from the position of Bernini s
David who shows movement and determination. Bernini s David displays emotion in the way that he
is tightly pulling back the slingshot and the furrowing of his eyebrows. He looks as if he is worried
and he is determined to use all of his strength to defeat the giant, even though he knows God is still on
his side. Pulling back the slingshot with an arm crossing the body, in addition to the tilting of the head
to the side, generates a diagonal position in the sculpture, making it appear

Business Structure Of A Corporation
You have five basic choices when setting up business entities: sole proprietorships, partnerships,
limited liability companies, S corporations and C corporations. Most small businesses benefit by
choosing the LLC structure because it protects you from personal liability and your profits pass
through for simple taxation treatment, instead of being double taxed like regular C corporations.
Organizing a corporation limits your liability to your investment in the business, but LLCs don t
require seating a board of directors, holding shareholder meetings and other time consuming and
expensive administrative formalities. Another great benefit is that you can divide profits any way you
want, entice employees by offering them a share of your profits and assign shares without requiring
the recipients to pay market value. You can choose to tax any LLC s profits as a corporate entity or
pass through company, which means that profits are passed through to the shareholders and taxed as
regular income.
Using LLCs, S Corporations and Holding Companies
The actual business structure of these arrangements usually involves establishing a holding entity that
owns assets and an operating entity that uses the assets. Of course, setting up this arrangement should
be done in such a way that business assets are protected from personal creditors and personal assets
can t be targeted by the business, but this takes careful planning. The operating entity conducts
business and bears any risks of

Living A Happy And Simple Life
Do you think it is possible to live a happy and simple life? It is more than certainly possible to live a
life of bliss, even in a world with today s chaotic means. You do not need to be rich in order to live a
luxurious life, you could be the poorest person in the world but also the happiest. Social media is also
a very big aspect for humanity when it comes to happiness.
As stated in the introduction, you can be the poorest person in the world, yet happier than the richest
person. A statement from a very well known commercial and advertisement company Charmin Ultra,
less is more, is a very great statement to be used in this aspect, because a person that is considered in
today s society to be average or mediocre in life, to have less ... Show more content on

Some may say that money is what true happiness is all about, money buys happiness, and without
riches, you are nothing and have no reasons to be happy, nor exist. If one has all the best things in life,
it will make them happy, for it has no reason to do otherwise. Social networking is mandatory because
without it you are left in the dark about what is going on in the world and one s happiness has nothing
to do with people s use of social media.
However, those who say money buys happiness must be one of two things; liers or blind to the fact
that you can have true happiness with no money at all. According to Bruno, Living simple is not easy
because it requires lots of patience and dedication. First you would need to make a game plan and
know you want in life, what you need, and what you can live without. It is interesting to find out all
the things you can live without that you once thought you needed to survive. Planning is the key to
having a happy and simple life (2017).
Social Media is more than definitely an indication for one s happiness because as stated early, there
are many events that occur where someone gets bullied and begins having suicidal thoughts or get
depressed from all the negative situations shown on the Internet which allows no room for happiness.
Sometimes it is better to not know what is going on in life, if it has no personal affect on you, their
should be no reason for you to

Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local...
Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural
mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like
them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the
human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of
understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that
is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John
Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply
because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood).
There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies.
Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even
among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to
experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They
were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans
have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances,
which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was
able to demonstrate that having

The world record small mouth weighed 11 pounds and 15...
The world record small mouth weighed 11 pounds and 15 ounces. Was 27 inches long and 21 2/3
inches in girth. Most smallmouth range from 10 inches up to 20. Bass over 20 inches are rare but a lot
of fun to catch. A good healthy temperature for small mouth is between 68 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Normally bass live between 6 to 14 years, but with perfect conditions a bass can live up to 20 years.
Small mouth like to create nests with their tails in 3 to 8 feet of water, with sand and small gravel for a
bottom. The male will create and guard the nest. After mating the female is evicted and goes on to
possibly mate with other males. The male will watch after the nest and babies (minnows) for two
weeks, then they all split up. Smallies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smallmouths have both external fertilization and external development. Feeding for smallmouth tops
when the temperature is around 78 degrees and starts to slow down once the temperature goes below
40 degrees. The male always guards the eggs and the babies which are known as fry. The spawning
usually occurs in April or May unless the temperature stays cold than it can be delayed. The first
person to describe a smallmouth bass was Lacepede is 1802. The fry hatch out of their eggs in about a
week and then continue to develop for another week. Young smallmouths are fed upon by yellow
perch, Northern pike or muskellunge. Bigger bass are only eaten by northern pike, musky but the main
predators of smallmouth bass are humans. The lifespan in the wild is normally about seven years, but
some will live up to 20 years. In captivity the average age is ten years. When the young hatch out of
their eggs they are about 0.2 inches long, very easy prey for a variety of animals. Multiple females
will spawn in the nest of one male and an individual female will spawn in more than one. Smallmouth
dance and bite each other, this is their mating ritual. In New York the record smallmouth was 8
pounds, 4 ounces caught out of Lake Erie on 6/4/1995 by Andrew C Kartesz. Smallmouth bass are
beginning to destroy Brooke trout fisheries and Atlantic salmon fisheries. The meat of a smallmouth is

Being John Malkovich Manipulation
In the beginning, watching Being John Malkovich felt like falling down a rabbit hole. It is a film in
which nothing makes sense, yet a film that is completely relatable. The film opens up on the main
protagonist, Craig, a socially awkward and unhappily married puppeteer who can t find a job. After
obtaining work filing at a bizarre company located on the 7 ½ floor, Craig becomes smitten with his
coworker, Maxine. One day, he comes upon a portal that leads into to the mind of well known actor,

The shots are very sharp and sporadic, cutting from image to image very bluntly. This happens most
obviously when two characters are coming into contact. The camera pans back and forth onto to
whoever is talking very quickly, making you feel like part of the conversation. Being John Malkovich
also had little to no transitioning between scenes, giving it a more lifelike and realistic effect as there
are no transitions in real life. The film itself was one big catalyst in which every decision the
characters made had an effect on the concluding outcome, so the no pausing or transitioning between
scenes fit really well with Being John Malkovich s overall aesthetic. The film also makes great use of
a kind of point of view filming whenever the audience is seeing to world through John Malkovich s
head. I believe Jonze wanted the film to be a sensory experience along with an impressive enigmatic
narrative. By making the camera seem like we are looking out from Malkovich s mind, it feels as if we
as the audience have gone through the portal

Reaction Paper On Devils Tower
Amie Hadley
Period: 6
Mrs.Howsden
Geology Research Project Devils tower is a geological formation in our nation s first national park.
The tower is a rock formation known as a laccolithic butte. Laccolithic is a term used for large masses
of rocks which were made of magma, typically under ground between rock strata. Most laccoliths are
round and dome shaped, but devils tower has been eroded to the point of having a flat top and very
steep sides. There is also no evidence of volcanic activity around Devils Tower, but some researchers
just believe that it may have eroded away over time. Devils tower is also known as a stock, the most
basic explanation is that it was once under the ground but is now exposed. Before devils tower was
exposed it was surrounded and buried by sedimentary rocks, because sedimentary rocks and shale are
a lot softer than igneous rock they eroded away and left the tower standing tall. There used to be water
covering the land, this sea once covered most of the western united states long ago. This water played
a huge part in eroding away the sediments and rock that once covered devils tower. The tower itself is
also being slowly eroded, and one day may not even exist. The rock formation was discovered in 1875
on an expedition led by Colonel Richard Dodge, he spoke to indigenous peoples in the area and might
of got a bad translation. He thought they called it the bad god s tower. So he modified that phrase to
Devil s tower. When president

Tropical Rainforest Biome Essay
Tropical Rainforest Biome The biome Tropical rainforest is an ecosystem that combines an equal
amount of sun, rain, and very warm temperatures. With this mixture it creates a very humid, almost
steamy atmosphere. It stays this way all year long, temperatures don t even alternate between day and
night. With all the humidity and moisture the precipitation rate is much higher than other places, The
yearly rainfall ranges from 80 400 inches. With this being the climate of this biome, it comes along
with unique plants and animals. There are approximately 10 million species of animals, plants, and
insects home to the tropical rainforest. Some of the many plant species include, epiphytes, bromeliads,
orchids, rubber tree and many more. Most of the trees and plants are used by man either for food or to
make goods and products. Many of the plants are edible, some of those plants include bananas,
coconuts, and spices. Most of the spices we use for cooking come from the tropical rainforest biome.

lizards, birds, snakes, and monkeys are very common in the tropical rainforest. Most animals that live
in this biome live in tall trees and have not step foot on the ground in fear of predators. Since there are

Why Some People Think That It s Dangerous Going Out The...
Why is it that some people think that it s dangerous going out the front door? There are many ways
why people will think that. The three ways that I find to be some major ways is, the person might not
be ready, the outside is full of dangerous people, and that the person might get with the wrong group
and get into bad things. Reason 1 of why I think that going out the front is dangerous is that, the
person might not just not be ready. There are many reasons why a person might not be ready. They
might not have the right education that they should have, they might not be the best at getting a job.
There could be many ways of why someone might not have the proper education. First they might be a
dropout so they never finished high school. In my opinion high school is one of the most important
times to get good grades. If you don t then it is hard to get into college, jobs will see that you dropped
out and might not hire you to work there. These are some of the most simplest reasons on why
someone just won t be ready to go into the outside world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Thomas Aquinas Mystical Argument From Harsheral Experience
I believe that the argument from mystical experience is very convincing. As already noted in Aquinas
mystical experience, it became evident to him that God is far more than one can imagine. To examines
his experience further, his decision to stop the project and being silenced instead with respect to God
as a supreme being is a testimony that God is beyond what anyone can put into words. Another
observation is that he felts that it was very important as he knows the truth is his heart after having
such a glorious experience. Besides, one argument by some Christian is that one cannot imagine God
simply because he is unimaginable and that our human mind doesn t have the ability to comprehend
him. If that is the case, it explains why Aquinas

The Struggle Between Civilization And Savagery In Justice...
The theme of the struggle between civilization and savagery is an archetype to one of life s larger
themes humanity is chaos. Humanity is constantly fighting and bickering. It is human nature to do so.
Throughout the ages, humans and technology have evolved. Human natures have not. The darkness
beneath their skin, the darkness lurking inside waiting for opportunity, is still there and always will be.
In the movie Justice League, Lois Lane while writing an article states, Darkness is not the absence of
light. It is the conviction that the light will never return...Our darkness was deep and soon to swallow
all hope... The fear of being abandoned, stranded on the island without chance of rescue was the deep

Commerce Differences Between Western And Eastern Europe
When comparing trade and commerce differences between Western and Eastern Europe, Islamic items
of worship such as The Sunnah, encouraged trade and commerce in Eastern Europe in the late 8th and
9th century. This led an increase in the Eastern European economy, thus leading to the increased
importation of Eastern goods into Western Europe. This increase in exotic goods ultimately enhanced
the wealth of Western Europe and boosted its economy. While Western Europe improved
economically, Northern Europe s economy deteriorated, causing Scandinavian men to turn elsewhere
for profit. Western Europe s swelling trade network ultimately attracted the Vikings to pillage and raid
their communities in order to increase their own wealth, and return it back to Northern Europe. A

Dante s Inferno Love
In Dante s Inferno, one chapter of three in Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy, the main protagonist of
the poem, Dante frequently uses romance and love as one of the main themes to express his message
and vision of Hell he portraits in the story. Dante s Inferno is an epic poem about a recounting of
Dante and his incredible journey through Hell and its many levels while he is being guided by Virgil.
In the story, Hell is shown to have nine levels of suffering depending on what kinds of sin you
committed during your life and each circle serves as different forms of punishment. During his
journey, Dante starts to understand the soul, God, and Lucifer, as he describes the nine circles of hell
being anger, gluttony, treasury, fraud, violence, heresy, lust, greed as he explores the circles and meets
various people on the way.
Love is a very important aspect in Dante s Inferno because without love he never would have been
capable of completing his journey through Hell without the guide who was sent by Beatrice. Beatrice
sending Virgil to Dante to guide him means that she still has deep love for Dante and that she still has
a desire for Dante to stay safe. This quote from the poem shows this very well, Wisdom and love will
straighten his way (Dante 1.21 22). In the poem, love is represented by God as well since he often is a
symbol of purity and goodness, a reason why in the story Dante adventures into Hell on Good Friday.

Analysis Of The Poem The Solomon
SOLOMON
Solomon wrote I am black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the
curtains of Solomon. Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me:
my mother s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but mine own
vineyard have I not kept. I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh s
chariots (Song of Solomon 1:5 6, 9).
Solomon was the son of Bathsheba, who was the granddaughter of Ahithophel the Gilonite whose
husband was Uriah the Hittite, and he was a mixed Canaanite son of David (2 Samuel 11:2 3; 23:34;
Matthew 1:1 6). After David had killed her husband Uriah and impregnated Bathsheba, the Lord sent
Nathan to the house of David, who told him that the child will die, and the Lord struck the child which
was bore out of adultery and he died (2 Samuel 12:1 19). David prayed, fasted and worshiped the
Lord, and the Lord had mercy on him and gave him Solomon who prophet Nathan called Jedidiah,
because the Lord loved Solomon, he was beloved of the Lord (2 Samuel 12:20 25). Solomon made
mention of his skin complexion in his writings, he said I am black, and comely, O ye daughters of
Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar. The word Kedar, which was used here means black. Solomon had
used the blackness of Kedar to describe his skin complexion. Some scholars stated that this was a
poetic word that referred to one of his black lover. However, this poetic songs does not only

Benefits Of The GI Bill
GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944
In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused
political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known
as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI
Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults.
The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not
advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did
not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the
soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made.
The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come
back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government
benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force.
Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the
number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20
years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers
was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups
that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and
demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending
out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting
veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On
June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American
Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Other veteran affiliated
organizations that played a role in the creation of the

Using Cbt Models Into Group Intervention Essay
While planning on treating teenage girls who had been sexually abused in the past, we primarily take a
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach in group intervention. As we all know, CBT is a short term,
problem solving focused therapy that aims to reduce patients symptoms and provide reliefs. The
cognitive model proposes that in most scenarios, it is not the life events themselves that influence
people s emotional states, but the dysfuncional or maladaptive thinking people associated with the
events that causes people to feel bad or depressed (Beck, 2011). Therefore, CBT believes that by
helping patients identify, evaluate and modify their maladaptive thinking and to a more realistic and
adaptive way of thinking, and by teaching people new skills to cope with the problems, patients will
experience improvements in their behaviors and emotional states (Beck, 2011). Incorporating CBT
models into group intervention, there are a lot of advantages that can benefit group members in
different ways. First of all, a therapeutic alliance is seen as one of the preconditions of the CBT work,
and within a group, members can identify and develop therapeutic relationships with not only the

Sydney Olympic Park Observations
My report is based on the data that I have collected when I visited the Sydney Olympic Park and the
Royal Botanical Gardens. This was a two day project and it required me to collect at least five species
to make my observations and record the data via the climate watch website. Since I could not
download the app on my mobile phone, I decided to write down my observations with the help of the
climate watch website. This website tells us how to record data, why, where and what observations we
should be making. Before presenting my data I would like to acknowledge the diverse and rich
biodiversity that Sydney Olympic Park has to offer. Sydney Olympic Park s rich biodiversity reserves
and incorporates more than 400 local plant species and more than 200 local vertebrate species. It is ...

I started my walk on the climate trail that was referred to me by the climate watch website. The park
offered us around 35km of walking trails. Before I began my project I made sure the maps leading us
to the trail was printed out the day before. After walking around for about 40 minutes I encountered
the first species which is the Australian Magpie. The reason this particular species was picked was
because, during the time I was walking I found it difficult to record sightings of the other bird species
that climate watch was interested in, therefore I decided to observe the Australian Magpie which was
common in all parts of Australia. The species data was collected via the guide of the climate watch
website. The birds built was strong and sturdy, and it was perching on a nearby branch that was in eye
view. The observations were done based on the behaviour of a number of 5 birds. They appear to be
calling out to one another in a loud but calm tone. According to the Journal of African Ornithology,
high temperatures can posture critical thermoregulation challenges for endotherms, and deciding how

The Importance Of Memory
Can you remember memory
Memory has always been a huge part of everyday life whether a conscious mind realizes it or not.
Memory is the set of processes used to encode, store, and retrieve information over different periods
of time. (openstax) Memory helps develop a human s mind and who they will become through life.
Psychology is the study of the human mind and how humans think. Memory is important to
psychology because memory shapes a human s character and continues to push someone through each
and every day. Many ancient beliefs about memory were surprisingly accurate. Plato saw how one
memory can lead to another when he described a lyre that made him think of it owner and then his
friend, until a whole, rich picture of events and associations was called up from a simple, instrument.
(minninger) There are three major processes someone memory presents every day. These three
processes which information passes through are encoding, storage, and retrieval. The first process
information encounters is encoding. Encoding is the input of information into the memory system.
Encoding can occur through a conscious mind or an unconscious mind. When the mind is unconscious
the form of encoding it goes through is called automatic processing, this is taking in little clues from
the surrounding environment such as time. When the mind is conscious and aware of what it is in
taking this is called effortful processing. Effortful processing actual requires a lot of work such as

The Creek Field Is An Old Accumulation And Is Reaching The...
The Darst Creek Field is an old accumulation and is reaching the end of its primary production phase.
It offers the unique operational constraints of its targets being primarily of carbonate lithology
(limestone s and chalks.) This structural composition offers potential to be enhanced via a chemical or
water flood due to its relatively high permeability and other reservoir characterization. Contained
within is the research and findings after building and executing a simulation of the potential for a
flood in this area.
1 Introduction
Water and polymer flooding have seen a surge in older fields as a method of extracting bypassed
hydrocarbons in the secondary production phase of the reservoir. Typically, the floods have seen the
largest increase of EUR in reservoirs that have highly mobile fluids and with a high permeability
formation. This allows the fluids to rapidly move through the formation and push the desired
hydrocarbons towards our production wells. These reservoirs are typically in the form of deeper
sandstone reservoirs, but studies are being conducted in an attempt to implement the floods in other
reservoir types. Through this paper we will evaluate the needs of an EOR process in carbonate
formations to evaluate their potential implementation in the Darst Creek Oil Field in Luling, Texas.
The evaluation will evaluate studies of flood effectiveness in other carbonate reservoirs to evaluate
both the operational and theoretical constraints of this specific

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory Analysis
Introduction
Development is the act or process of growth. Developmental psychology is the scientific study of how
and why human beings change over the course of their life. The study of developmental theories can
be traced back to the early 1900s. Over the years, psychologists and other scientists have developed a
variety of theories to explain observations and discoveries about child development. Theories of
development provide a framework for thinking about human growth, development, and learning. By
using examples of ones own life span, from beginning to present, and analyzing life events using
theoretical models, one can further explore certain theories and whether or not personal life
experiences supports or denies theoretical models of development across the lifespan.
Developmental Theorists and Theories
Urie Bronfenbrenner developed the ecological systems theory to explain how a child s environment
influences a child s development. In his model, there is a hierarchy of influence levels. The ecological
systems model acknowledges the ongoing, necessary, and intrinsic interactions of a unique individual
with others and the environment.
Bronfenbrenner puts the child, who comes with its own temperament and conditions, in the middle, or
micro system. The nuclear family, or meso system, has the greatest influence on a child s emotional

PGTAOSA Reflection Paper
For my PGTAOSA workshop requirement this semester, I decided to go to a eurythmics workshop
lead by Stephen Neely from Carnegie Melon University. This Workshop took place on Saturday
February 13. Right at the beginning of the workshop I was surprised by the number of people in
attendance. There were at least 25 total people there and only about 8 of them were from Duquesne. I
could tell a large number of people had not had very much experience with eurythmics because they
looked in shock when Mr. Neely asked everyone to take their shoes and socks off. Being in class with
Mrs. Rea every week, I expected this, but a large number of people did not. After everyone gothic
shoes off, we headed around the room and stood there. Mr. Neely then asked

Social Justice In Amazing Grace
Faced with crime, poverty, and trauma daily, without intervention these children will, or already have
fallen through the cracks. These children are entitled to be protected from degrading treatment,
discrimination, and suffering. They have a right to good education, And a right to housing, clothing,
food and a standard of living adequate for the health and well being of himself and of his family. And
deserve access to medical care and necessary social services (United Nations, 2014). These children
are in need of social justice because their basic human rights are being denied in almost every way. As
social workers, it is our duty to advocate and pursue social change for those who don t have a voice.

free food pantries, and many churches who offer support, and services. He also mentions
dysfunctional clinics that provide health care that isn t regulated, or up to the standards set by the
American Health care system (Kozol, 2000). Why are these services failing the residents of this
neighborhood? With this many social service agencies at their disposable who is to blame for the lack
of service provided, and their poor quality of life? I would imagine that the social workers in these
agencies are following the code of ethics of The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and
are attempting to provide the best service they can. Or are they? It could be the agencies, funding
streams or even local or state policy. If I was working in one of these agencies to provide service ,
with the integrity expected of me by the NASW, I don t know how I could do my job, or sit by and let
agency policy, or politics get in the way of the quality of life, and the equality/inequality of my clients

Tiananmen Square Massacre Essay
With thousands left wounded, a seemingly countless number of citizens reported dead, and a country
left with a reputation in jeopardy. All of these were the consequences of a shocking and devastating
event which happened on the 4th of June 1989, the Tiananmen Square massacre. Overtime this has
been viewed as a major turning point in Chinese history. It catalyzed movements for generations
across the world.
Tiananmen Square is a city square in the centre of Beijing, China. It is named after Tiananmen, Gate
of Heavenly Peace. The square contains the Monument to the People s Heroes, the Great Hall of the
People, the National Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong died on
September 9, 1976. At the time of his death, China was in a political and economic dilemma. The
Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966 1976) and factional fighting had left the country much
poorer, weaker, and isolated than it had been in 1965. A large amount of experienced party officials,
intellectuals, and professionals were deteriorating in prison or working in factories, mines, and fields.
Many schools had been closed, and an entire generation of young people were unable to obtain an
education. The ethics of China turned under Deng Xiaoping to a form of market socialism. He

T Mobile Ad Analysis Essay
On the corner of 41st and Broadway, the T Mobile ad s simple use of color (rather lack thereof),
subject, and text gives off a minimalistic and almost boring feel. The simplicity left me wondering
whether or not the concept and the ad s message correlate with one another. These different aspects
show the easiness and the all inclusive atmosphere that T Mobile is offering. There are only three
colors on this ad: pink, black, and white. The pink background is a representation of T Mobile s
signature color and the subject and text are in black and white. There is one man standing on a white
ladder in the ad. He is wearing a black button up and black jeans, with black tennis shoes and a black
stocking cap. It is difficult to tell what ethnicity the man is because of the black and white coloring.

It can be an easy process if you go through T Mobile. It is straight forward and clean. They want you
to believe there are no hassles or messes to go through. The hidden identity of the man shows the
equality of customers that T Mobile wants to serve. At first, I was confused about how the idea of a
new phone plan connected to a man doing graffiti, but T Mobile might be showing that switching
plans can be a fun process. As the ideas between the product and marketing become more and more
disconnected, you become more interested in what the company is trying to sell you. It doesn t quite
make sense, but somehow it works to show a new way to switch phone plans. Using T Mobile s
signature pink color, you could most likely tell which phone company is using this ad even if their
name wasn t on it. Recently, T Mobile is using the minimalistic three color scheme idea for their
advertisements. The ads are straight forward and to the point, while showing a surprising and
disconnected image, which somehow sells the

Thomas Hobbes Theory Of Natural Law
For many years now, political philosophy has been dealing with ideas on how to make society more
moral, unprejudiced and just. Within this concept is whether laws and rules created in society are
moral and fair and how these can vary between human beings and traditions. Therefore the whole
notion of Natural Law governing society has been reached from different conclusions, which in turn
sees Thomas Hobbes social contract theory as opposing to St. Thomas Aquinas theory of natural law.
Yet this does not change the fact that many Western democracies base their moral decision making
within Hobbes concept. (Kenney, 2005)
The theory formulated by Hobbes, argued that the laws of nature are to be seen as divine law, in which
all human beings are bound by these basic natural laws of self preservation which directs them to the
way of the good. (Murphy, 2011)
Hobbes rejected the concept of higher law and argued that the citizens ought to accept the traditional
laws and principles of their state even if they were oppressive in order to keep peace and security.
(Kraynak, 1990)
In contrast to this, St. Thomas Aquinas, who was heavily influenced by Aristotle s ideas of universal
and conventional law and expanded and developed them. (Vieru, 2010)
His ideas centre his notion of natural law, with his knowledge of God. He bases his theory of natural
law in the concept of an eternal law, which is in God. For Aquinas, law is an order of reason from God
for all of the community. (Summa

  • 2. Dagoberto Gilb Narcissism Do you know the story of Narcissus? He was the very handsome fellow in Greek mythology who, because of his indifference and disdain toward others, was punished by the gods by falling in love with his own image. He was so enraptured by his beauty that he was unable to pull himself away from his own reflection, and he wasted away and died. Narcissism is also considered a social and cultural problem in America. It s not surprising to see a rise in narcissism in this generation given that young people are being bombarded by these messages and sorts of commercial all day, every day through every form of media. It is the same with Jake who is the main character in the story Love in L.A by Dagoberto Gilb. In the story, Jake is consumed with himself and with gaining more pleasure for himself. He wants much more than he has, and he wants it for him to be appraised by many women and finally fell in love with him. He clearly sees himself as a ladies man and uses every opportunity to COLLECT them. He thinks that having all the luxurious things will make him feel like invincible, like he is the greatest human being that god created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although many will argue that narcissism is just a behavior that will not pose any danger to anyone, Gilb has a theme of narcissism, showing us that young and adult people these days are being infected with this narcissism because of being materialistic, having unmanaged stress, and easy access on social ... • 3. Comparing David And Bernini s David Michelangelo s sculpture of David, as seen on the left, was created during the Renaissance. His style of creating the sculpture is very different from Bernini s David, which can be seen on the right. While both of these sculptures are meant to resemble the same young man who defeated Goliath the giant, their features and characteristics make them appear as two separate individuals. However, both sculptures capture the personality of David. These sculptures share a common meaning, but qualities such as stability versus instability, reserved versus involving, calm versus emotional, and light versus dark set them apart. As both of the titles of the sculptures represent, the man is David in the Bible. During both the time of the Renaissance and the time of Baroque, people were very religious. The two show the heroism and braveness of the personality of David who had the help of God to defeat a giant who was much larger than himself. Despite a similar purpose behind them, the style that the two artists used created different feelings between the sculptures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He looks as if he is standing still in that position and he shows confidence as he is going to defeat the giant because he knows that God is going to help him. This is different from the position of Bernini s David who shows movement and determination. Bernini s David displays emotion in the way that he is tightly pulling back the slingshot and the furrowing of his eyebrows. He looks as if he is worried and he is determined to use all of his strength to defeat the giant, even though he knows God is still on his side. Pulling back the slingshot with an arm crossing the body, in addition to the tilting of the head to the side, generates a diagonal position in the sculpture, making it appear ... • 4. Business Structure Of A Corporation You have five basic choices when setting up business entities: sole proprietorships, partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations and C corporations. Most small businesses benefit by choosing the LLC structure because it protects you from personal liability and your profits pass through for simple taxation treatment, instead of being double taxed like regular C corporations. Organizing a corporation limits your liability to your investment in the business, but LLCs don t require seating a board of directors, holding shareholder meetings and other time consuming and expensive administrative formalities. Another great benefit is that you can divide profits any way you want, entice employees by offering them a share of your profits and assign shares without requiring the recipients to pay market value. You can choose to tax any LLC s profits as a corporate entity or pass through company, which means that profits are passed through to the shareholders and taxed as regular income. Using LLCs, S Corporations and Holding Companies The actual business structure of these arrangements usually involves establishing a holding entity that owns assets and an operating entity that uses the assets. Of course, setting up this arrangement should be done in such a way that business assets are protected from personal creditors and personal assets can t be targeted by the business, but this takes careful planning. The operating entity conducts business and bears any risks of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Living A Happy And Simple Life Do you think it is possible to live a happy and simple life? It is more than certainly possible to live a life of bliss, even in a world with today s chaotic means. You do not need to be rich in order to live a luxurious life, you could be the poorest person in the world but also the happiest. Social media is also a very big aspect for humanity when it comes to happiness. As stated in the introduction, you can be the poorest person in the world, yet happier than the richest person. A statement from a very well known commercial and advertisement company Charmin Ultra, less is more, is a very great statement to be used in this aspect, because a person that is considered in today s society to be average or mediocre in life, to have less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some may say that money is what true happiness is all about, money buys happiness, and without riches, you are nothing and have no reasons to be happy, nor exist. If one has all the best things in life, it will make them happy, for it has no reason to do otherwise. Social networking is mandatory because without it you are left in the dark about what is going on in the world and one s happiness has nothing to do with people s use of social media. However, those who say money buys happiness must be one of two things; liers or blind to the fact that you can have true happiness with no money at all. According to Bruno, Living simple is not easy because it requires lots of patience and dedication. First you would need to make a game plan and know you want in life, what you need, and what you can live without. It is interesting to find out all the things you can live without that you once thought you needed to survive. Planning is the key to having a happy and simple life (2017). Social Media is more than definitely an indication for one s happiness because as stated early, there are many events that occur where someone gets bullied and begins having suicidal thoughts or get depressed from all the negative situations shown on the Internet which allows no room for happiness. Sometimes it is better to not know what is going on in life, if it has no personal affect on you, their should be no reason for you to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Portrayal Of A Multicultural Mindset On A Global And Local... Stop with the judging There are many factors that contribute to the overall lack of a multicultural mindset on a global and local scale. A lot of people like to be separated from those who are not like them, either in the socioeconomic spectrum, the racial spectrum, the way they live or simply the human experience overall. Humans tend to judge those who are different than them, showing a lack of understanding of a variety of culture or the disparities that makes each human different. A reality that is portrayed throughout all the movies in the class. For example, in the movie First Blood, John Rambo, the main character in the film, is often judged and mistreated by others in the movie, simply because of his military background and the differences he has with them (Kotcheff, First Blood). There are multiple examples of these type of behavior throughout all the movies. Lack of understanding In the United States, being homeless is becoming a common occurrence, even among college students. In the movie The Human Experience, the documentarians were able to experience what is like to be homeless in New York City (Kinnane, The Human Experience). They were able to realize how different these people truly are compared to the preconceived notion humans have on those who are homeless. They didn t choose to be homeless, it was certain circumstances, which are different from everyone, that resulted in them being without proper shelter. The movie was able to demonstrate that having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film itself was one big catalyst in which every decision the characters made had an effect on the concluding outcome, so the no pausing or transitioning between scenes fit really well with Being John Malkovich s overall aesthetic. The film also makes great use of a kind of point of view filming whenever the audience is seeing to world through John Malkovich s head. • 9. Reaction Paper On Devils Tower Amie Hadley Period: 6 Mrs.Howsden Geology Research Project Devils tower is a geological formation in our nation s first national park. The tower is a rock formation known as a laccolithic butte. Laccolithic is a term used for large masses of rocks which were made of magma, typically under ground between rock strata. Most laccoliths are round and dome shaped, but devils tower has been eroded to the point of having a flat top and very steep sides. There is also no evidence of volcanic activity around Devils Tower, but some researchers just believe that it may have eroded away over time. Devils tower is also known as a stock, the most basic explanation is that it was once under the ground but is now exposed. Before devils tower was exposed it was surrounded and buried by sedimentary rocks, because sedimentary rocks and shale are a lot softer than igneous rock they eroded away and left the tower standing tall. There used to be water covering the land, this sea once covered most of the western united states long ago. This water played a huge part in eroding away the sediments and rock that once covered devils tower. The tower itself is also being slowly eroded, and one day may not even exist. The rock formation was discovered in 1875 on an expedition led by Colonel Richard Dodge, he spoke to indigenous peoples in the area and might of got a bad translation. This increase in exotic goods ultimately enhanced the wealth of Western Europe and boosted its economy. While Western Europe improved economically, Northern Europe s economy deteriorated, causing Scandinavian men to turn elsewhere for profit. • 17. Dante s Inferno Love In Dante s Inferno, one chapter of three in Dante Alighieri s Divine Comedy, the main protagonist of the poem, Dante frequently uses romance and love as one of the main themes to express his message and vision of Hell he portraits in the story. Dante s Inferno is an epic poem about a recounting of Dante and his incredible journey through Hell and its many levels while he is being guided by Virgil. In the story, Hell is shown to have nine levels of suffering depending on what kinds of sin you committed during your life and each circle serves as different forms of punishment. During his journey, Dante starts to understand the soul, God, and Lucifer, as he describes the nine circles of hell being anger, gluttony, treasury, fraud, violence, heresy, lust, greed as he explores the circles and meets various people on the way. Love is a very important aspect in Dante s Inferno because without love he never would have been capable of completing his journey through Hell without the guide who was sent by Beatrice. Beatrice sending Virgil to Dante to guide him means that she still has deep love for Dante and that she still has a desire for Dante to stay safe. This quote from the poem shows this very well, Wisdom and love will straighten his way (Dante 1.21 22). Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, but mine own vineyard have I not kept. I have compared thee, O my love, to a company of horses in Pharaoh s chariots (Song of Solomon 1:5 6, 9). Solomon was the son of Bathsheba, who was the granddaughter of Ahithophel the Gilonite whose husband was Uriah the Hittite, and he was a mixed Canaanite son of David (2 Samuel 11:2 3; 23:34; Matthew 1:1 6). After David had killed her husband Uriah and impregnated Bathsheba, the Lord sent Nathan to the house of David, who told him that the child will die, and the Lord struck the child which was bore out of adultery and he died (2 Samuel 12:1 19). David prayed, fasted and worshiped the Lord, and the Lord had mercy on him and gave him Solomon who prophet Nathan called Jedidiah, because the Lord loved Solomon, he was beloved of the Lord (2 Samuel 12:20 25). Solomon made mention of his skin complexion in his writings, he said I am black, and comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar. The word Kedar, which was used here means black. Responsibility is also addressed as a way of facing the duties or sometime as an inevitable fate which some characters understand early they cannot do anything but adapt it to overcome and achieve their obligation. Sandra Cisneros demonstrates a challenge that is not obviously to overcome for a young child, in other words one can say that it is remarkable to undertake such responsibility by awaking the older women about their sufferings for an improvement and by keeping watch over her sister constitutes the most important task for her and this act demonstrates she does not neglect her family even she care about her neighbors welfare but. • 20. Benefits Of The GI Bill GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made. The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War I had come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. • 21. Using Cbt Models Into Group Intervention Essay While planning on treating teenage girls who had been sexually abused in the past, we primarily take a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach in group intervention. As we all know, CBT is a short term, problem solving focused therapy that aims to reduce patients symptoms and provide reliefs. The cognitive model proposes that in most scenarios, it is not the life events themselves that influence people s emotional states, but the dysfuncional or maladaptive thinking people associated with the events that causes people to feel bad or depressed (Beck, 2011). Therefore, CBT believes that by helping patients identify, evaluate and modify their maladaptive thinking and to a more realistic and adaptive way of thinking, and by teaching people new skills to cope with the problems, patients will experience improvements in their behaviors and emotional states (Beck, 2011). Incorporating CBT models into group intervention, there are a lot of advantages that can benefit group members in different ways. First of all, a therapeutic alliance is seen as one of the preconditions of the CBT work, and within a group, members can identify and develop therapeutic relationships with not only the leader but also with other group members (DeLucia Waack, Kalodner, Riva 2013). This will in turn provide a safe and supportive network for the members in the group to share their experiences and allow them to feel secure. Secondly, CBT approach emphasizes the importance of learning in therapeutic work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Importance Of Memory Can you remember memory Memory has always been a huge part of everyday life whether a conscious mind realizes it or not. Memory is the set of processes used to encode, store, and retrieve information over different periods of time. (openstax) Memory helps develop a human s mind and who they will become through life. Psychology is the study of the human mind and how humans think. Memory is important to psychology because memory shapes a human s character and continues to push someone through each and every day. Many ancient beliefs about memory were surprisingly accurate. Plato saw how one memory can lead to another when he described a lyre that made him think of it owner and then his friend, until a whole, rich picture of events and associations was called up from a simple, instrument. (minninger) There are three major processes someone memory presents every day. These three processes which information passes through are encoding, storage, and retrieval. The first process information encounters is encoding. Encoding is the input of information into the memory system. Encoding can occur through a conscious mind or an unconscious mind. When the mind is unconscious the form of encoding it goes through is called automatic processing, this is taking in little clues from the surrounding environment such as time. When the mind is conscious and aware of what it is in taking this is called effortful processing. Effortful processing actual requires a lot of work such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. The Creek Field Is An Old Accumulation And Is Reaching The... The Darst Creek Field is an old accumulation and is reaching the end of its primary production phase. It offers the unique operational constraints of its targets being primarily of carbonate lithology (limestone s and chalks.) This structural composition offers potential to be enhanced via a chemical or water flood due to its relatively high permeability and other reservoir characterization. Contained within is the research and findings after building and executing a simulation of the potential for a flood in this area. 1 Introduction Water and polymer flooding have seen a surge in older fields as a method of extracting bypassed hydrocarbons in the secondary production phase of the reservoir. Typically, the floods have seen the largest increase of EUR in reservoirs that have highly mobile fluids and with a high permeability formation. This allows the fluids to rapidly move through the formation and push the desired hydrocarbons towards our production wells. These reservoirs are typically in the form of deeper sandstone reservoirs, but studies are being conducted in an attempt to implement the floods in other reservoir types. Through this paper we will evaluate the needs of an EOR process in carbonate formations to evaluate their potential implementation in the Darst Creek Oil Field in Luling, Texas. The evaluation will evaluate studies of flood effectiveness in other carbonate reservoirs to evaluate both the operational and theoretical constraints of this specific ... • 25. Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory Analysis Introduction Development is the act or process of growth. Developmental psychology is the scientific study of how and why human beings change over the course of their life. The study of developmental theories can be traced back to the early 1900s. Over the years, psychologists and other scientists have developed a variety of theories to explain observations and discoveries about child development. Theories of development provide a framework for thinking about human growth, development, and learning. By using examples of ones own life span, from beginning to present, and analyzing life events using theoretical models, one can further explore certain theories and whether or not personal life experiences supports or denies theoretical models of development across the lifespan. Developmental Theorists and Theories Urie Bronfenbrenner developed the ecological systems theory to explain how a child s environment influences a child s development. In his model, there is a hierarchy of influence levels. The ecological systems model acknowledges the ongoing, necessary, and intrinsic interactions of a unique individual with others and the environment. • 29. Tiananmen Square Massacre Essay With thousands left wounded, a seemingly countless number of citizens reported dead, and a country left with a reputation in jeopardy. All of these were the consequences of a shocking and devastating event which happened on the 4th of June 1989, the Tiananmen Square massacre. Overtime this has been viewed as a major turning point in Chinese history. It catalyzed movements for generations across the world. Tiananmen Square is a city square in the centre of Beijing, China. It is named after Tiananmen, Gate of Heavenly Peace. The square contains the Monument to the People s Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong died on September 9, 1976. At the time of his death, China was in a political and economic dilemma. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution (1966 1976) and factional fighting had left the country much poorer, weaker, and isolated than it had been in 1965. A large amount of experienced party officials, intellectuals, and professionals were deteriorating in prison or working in factories, mines, and fields. • 31. Thomas Hobbes Theory Of Natural Law For many years now, political philosophy has been dealing with ideas on how to make society more moral, unprejudiced and just. Within this concept is whether laws and rules created in society are moral and fair and how these can vary between human beings and traditions. Therefore the whole notion of Natural Law governing society has been reached from different conclusions, which in turn sees Thomas Hobbes social contract theory as opposing to St. Thomas Aquinas theory of natural law. Yet this does not change the fact that many Western democracies base their moral decision making within Hobbes concept. (Kenney, 2005) The theory formulated by Hobbes, argued that the laws of nature are to be seen as divine law, in which all human beings are bound by these basic natural laws of self preservation which directs them to the way of the good. (Murphy, 2011) Hobbes rejected the concept of higher law and argued that the citizens ought to accept the traditional laws and principles of their state even if they were oppressive in order to keep peace and security. (Kraynak, 1990) In contrast to this, St. Thomas Aquinas, who was heavily influenced by Aristotle s ideas of universal and conventional law and expanded and developed them. (Vieru, 2010) His ideas centre his notion of natural law, with his knowledge of God. He bases his theory of natural law in the concept of an eternal law, which is in God. For Aquinas, law is an order of reason from God for all of the community. (Summa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
