Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo
While each piece of literature is completely different, some of them have similar patterns and ideas.
One of these ideas would be human nature. Human nature is anything that is natural for a human to do
and can not be stopped easily. Things like greed and too much power can change someone greatly.
This can be the cause of many problems and can make someone who is a good person into a bad
person. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, the writers use of allusions and metaphors
convey the idea that human nature can be the cause of misfortune.
The story of Viva La Vida, by Coldplay, is about a king who has too much power and ends up being
overthrown from people in his kingdom. Coldplay expresses this story in metaphors.
I used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This king had the key to the castle, meaning that he knew what the people wanted. The way Coldplay
explains this story makes it seem like the people living in the king s castle turned on him, hence the
reference to the walls closing in on himself. This king must have been hated for something he did,
then again, every human makes mistakes. Although, this must not have been the first time because he
lost his whole castle just from a mistake. Then he starts to realize why he was wrong. The downfall of
this king could have been from bragging about his power too much since it is human nature to brag.
Or possibly being overwhelmed with too much power giving his enemies a chance to attack. Another
metaphor with the same meaning can be found in The Count of Monte Cristo. The same thing that
happened to Brutus the night before the Battle of Philippi: I saw a ghost. And that ghost told me I have
lived long enough (Dumas 381). At this moment in the story, the count is preparing for his duel with
Albert. He then tells Maximilien that he plans on dying during the duel and leaving Maximilien his
will. Maximilien is shocked and asks the count why he would ever do such a thing. The count
responds with the above quote. This quote is a metaphor and shows how it is in a human s nature to
want to forget the people who you don t like. This quote uses the example of Mercedes since she was
the ghost that came to Dantes the night before the duel and begged him not to kill her son. Dantes
responds by saying that he can not live with the dishonor of backing away from a duel, so he agreed to
let Albert

Essay about 1912 Election
The Effects on American Politics From the Election of 1912
During the Progressive Era, Americans faced the challenge of choosing between four strong
candidates of the election of 1912. Each candidate held concrete platforms that would have different
effects on progressivism. Americans could chose the conservative presidential incumbent William
Howard Taft(R), the New Jersey governor Woodrow Wilson (D), the long time fighter for social
reform Eugene V. Debs (S), or the former president Theodore Roosevelt of the newly formed Bull
Moose Party (Progressive Party). Through this election many steps were taken to change the face of

In the August before the election, the most successful third party in the 20th century was formed. After
Theodore Roosevelt was denied the Republican nomination, he was elected in the newly formed
Progressive Party. Theodore was the man for the job saying, In loyalty, honor and duty there was
nothing for me to do but to heed their call and make the race with all my might, regardless of present
or future consequences to myself . (Miller 527) With this spirit, this third party had accomplished the
unthinkable by becoming in second in the presidential election of 1912. This was the only time in
American history that the Republican Party has come in third in both the popular and electoral vote.
Sidney M. Milkis stated, Ostensibly, the cause of Progressivism—the platform s commitment to direct
democracy and social and industrial justice—gave reform leadership its dignity, indeed its heroic
quality. (Claremont Institute) The Progressive Party s accomplishment proved that third parties can
have influence on an election and they are not to be taken lightly.
This election served as the initial step into the world of politics for women. The Progressive Party was
the only main party to support women s rights, and women were extremely active in supporting it. The
Kansas newspaper editor William Allen White stated referring to the Progressive Party Convention:
We were, of course, for woman suffrage, and we invited women delegates and had plenty of them.

Social Gospel And Darwinism Similarities
Social gospel and Darwinism, are two great movements with such differences. Darwinism idea of
value compared to social gospels was completely different and had its own standing the community.
What Darwinism supported went hand in hand with social gospel but their morals and goals were
completely different and showed what kind of people they truly were. These differences as we see
now shaped and changed our lives and with these movements we have developed what we believe
today. A huge difference between Darwinian and social gospel would be their idea of someone s value
and how someone was seen in a community. Darwinism looked at wealth, social status and property in
order to indicate someone s superiority. They needed to know how much money

A Domestic Dilemma Essay
Carson McCullers takes the reader on a journey into the lives of a family plagued by alcoholism in
quot;A Domestic Dilemma quot;. The realism of the story is astounding, as most people will often find
themselves torn when facing difficult family decisions. The Meadows family is torn by both
compassion and suffering, and Martin Meadows is faced with one of the most difficult decisions of his
life. In A Domestic Dilemma, the author conveys the idea that individuals facing difficult decisions in
marital relationships must act in the best interest of one s self. The conflicts in the story surround
Martin and Emily s marital relationship. It is clear that their marriage is deteriorating because of Emily

During Domestic Dilemma Martin begins to realize that his efforts are no use, and his wife s behavior

American Sniper Character Analysis
A good movie about a person s life, especially one that involves real life wars has to be convincing.
That means the actor must be compelling of who the character actually is, in addition to the scenes
being true to the actual event, place and time. I also believe the plot of the story is essential as a true
drama is one classified as the hero dying or making you feel sad. American Sniper , a drama and true
story about a legendary sniper and navy seal, Kris Kyle accomplishes the heartfelt experience of
family, death, commitment and the life of a true soldier. With his record of confirmed kills, he earned
the nickname The Legend by his team, on the other hand, the enemy wanted him dead. Directed by

I really liked this as it made you realize what being directly in the war zone is like for a soldier. When
he has to make the decision to shoot a woman and a child to save American lives. The woman was his
first confirmed kill (Turan). He has flashbacks, which immediately got my attention and wanted to see
more. Differing from other war movies, like The Hurt Locker , the war veteran is as reckless solider.
Whereas, Cooper does a better job at making Kyle seem like a more welcoming character. There is no
question what his intentions are throughout the entire movie. While he struggles with home and
deployment, he gives an excellent performance on what it is really like to face decisions where there is
a sacrifice either way. His character really shines through and make anyone think about what goes
through a person s mind and what they have been through. For me, when he was in the tire shop and
the young man approached and recognized him, thanking him for saving his life, his voice, tone and
demeanor shifted...stuttering, his voice dropped and at a loss for words, coming across discourteous.
What I didn t like was the character Taya Kyle, played by Sienna Miller. I can t imagine the wife
would be unsupportive. Didn t really believe her

Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero
Richard as an Anti hero:
To what extent does Richard embody this archetype?
In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and
psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities.
Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A
protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is
admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the
character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero. The play

Richard says to Lady Anne: Your beauty was the cause of the effect:
Your beauty, that did haunt me in my sleep
To undertake the death of all the world,
So I might live one hour in your sweet bosom (1.2.126 129)
Richard takes a huge risk, handing Anne a knife and demanding she take away his life for he had
murdered both her father and husband. He insists to her it is only fair that she take his life in response.
Lady Anne rejects, falling for Richard s trap for she accepts his proposal of love. Richard succeeds in
manipulation. In the scene, Richard plays the role of a lover who will provide Anne with the emotional
support she would need; especially after suffering two loses. By persuading and manipulating Lady
Anne, Richard was able to get what he was really after; the power and a truce with the house of
Lancaster. This method of persuasion and manipulation are the basic fundamentals that Richard uses
on those he sees as useful in accomplishing his devilish deeds.
Family, loyalty, trust and marriage are some of the values and traditions that Richard ignores. Richard
acts like a caring brother (to Clarence), devoted lover, the innocent who is unjustly accused, a pious
man of God and the simple fellow who is too modest to become King (Cambridge 235). I will deliver
for you or else lie for you (1, 1,115.) are the exact words that Richard expresses to Clarence when
Clarence was being sent to the tower. As soon as Clarence is out of sight, Richard s

How Did The Weather Affect The Spread Of The Great Plague
October 1347, tewele trading ships docked on the Sicilian port of Messina after sailing across the
Black Sea. When they arrived on the dock more than half of the sailors aboard were incohesive and
the others were running high fevers. Everyone on the ship had black boils that oozed blood and pus. In
panic, the Sician authorities ordered all of ships and infected people out of the harbor.
The winter before the Great Plague was a dry one. Allowing rodents to live more freely. Since the
weather was on the more dryer side, the rodent population did not decrease as it would during any
other winter. When spring came along the air was hot and sticky, giving the female rodents a chance to
give birth to two litters. With London s hotter weather, it soonly became known as the rat infested city.
Another spreader of the Great Plague was fleas. Once the fleas had gotten ahold of the disease, they
would spread it to stray cats and dogs. These strays would then pass it to the homeless. ... Show more

first victims of the Black Plague was St Giles in the Fields church, where their death rates began to
rise in the dry summer. If someone was detected to have the plague they were locked into their homes
for 40 days and 40 nights. Their door was also painted with a red cross to keep others out. The only
ones allowed into the homes of the victims were local women who were called nurses . These women

Benefits Of Electronic Medical Record
Introduction
There are many benefits of using electronic medical record (EMR). This paper will discuss the
benefits of electronic medical record for the physicians, patients, and the healthcare organizations.
Benefits of EMR for Physicians There are so many benefits for physicians to use electronic medical
record, for example, they can eliminate a tremendous amount of paperwork since most of their
charting is done on the computer. Another advantage of using electronic medical record is the fact that
it allows for easy transfer of data or information to other departments or medical providers. This
ability of the electronic medical record helps to eliminate errors, it also less time consuming and it
prevents physicians and patients from repeating the same test. It also helps to prevent patients from
over exposing their body to unnecessary radiation. It is also important to note that healthcare
insurance is also enjoying this feature of the electronic medical record since they are saving money
whereby they will not have to pay for duplicate testing. The electronic medical record being able to
transfer patients data and information from one provider to the next is important since it allows
collaborations among various departments and healthcare facilities, also, physicians do not have to
worry about paperwork being misplaced or misfiled. Most patients find themselves at some time or
another gone to another healthcare facility that is not affiliated with their current

Relationship Between Vivian And Molly
In any genuine friendship there are the differences between the people that spark curiosity, yet, it is
similarities that draw two together to form a tight bond. This is evident in the friendship that starts
between Vivian and Molly. Vivian, from outward show, does not display the slightest similarity with
Molly. It is not until one examines the often tragic back stories of both that striking parallels begin to
be made clear. By the time all is uncovered, the likenesses shared between Vivian and Molly far
outweigh any disparities. In examining the relationship between Vivian and Molly, a perfect balance is
struck in Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. In Orphan Train, Christina Baker Kline weaves a
strong friendship between two characters, Vivian and Molly, despite a lengthy list of differences. The
most blatant contrast, and the root cause of many other differences, is age and the separate eras both
Vivian and Molly grow up in. In the span of her life, Vivian Nielsen, a ninety one year old widow,
experiences the Great Depression, World War II, and a technology boom impossible to keep up with.
On the other hand, Molly Ayer is a sixteen year old tech savvy foster child who uses her Goth persona
like armor against an unsympathetic society (Kline 4). Another dissimilarity is ethnicity. Vivian is a
first generation Irish immigrant and in being a Penobscot Native American Indian, Molly is unable to
be more different than Vivian. While these differences seem apparent, the

The standards society hold for women today are wiped away in Colbie Caillat s song Try. Caillat uses
simplicity and a contemporary music style in Try to convey the suffocation women feel because they
try to live up to these stereotypes in the 21st century. When Caillat wrote her song, she used repetition
of her lyrics to hit home the theme that women are beautiful inside and out. Caillat stated in an
interview that When you have a cute outfit on and your makeup looks amazing, the first thing people

proceeds, along with the other women, to take off the makeup, and in some cases hair extensions and a
wig, to un Photoshop themselves. A lot of close up shots showed only their faces, and side by side
videos of before and after as the women wiped off their makeup with solemn faces, but showed
smiling or laughing faces when not wearing makeup. I saw relief in their faces as they accepted
themselves, and they showed the world their happiness as it literally shined out of their faces like
sunbeams. They stared directly into the camera, challenging it as they sang along with Caillat s words.
Although this song carries a strong body positivity message, the imperfections bore proudly by the
women in the video are the imperfections deemed appropriate, or more common, to society such as
being overweight, having a gap in between teeth, frizzy hair, freckles, and wrinkles. The lighting was
perfect and nobody s skin was oily, had any acne, discoloration, or scars. Those imperfections society
judges more because it is gross and easy to point out. These women looked beautiful with and without
makeup, but without they were liberated and showed their true beauty and who they were. After

Personality Characteristics Of Personality Traits
In chapter one of the textbook, it describes how to define personality. There is no single definition of
the word personality. That is because it is used in so many different ways, and because one word
describing someone s personality can be interpreted many different ways. For example, if you describe
yourself as a happy person , that could mean something different to another person who also describes
themselves as happy . Your personality is an arrangement of personality traits that describe a
consistent style of emotion or behavior. Personality traits can be recognizable in various situations of a
person s life. A personality trait can be, shy or outgoing those words are describing a daily behavior
that, on average, is consistent with that individual. Personality is made up from all different parts
genetics, social class, family and peers. The textbook says, some psychologists view the influence of
peers on personality greater than the influence of family. (Cervone Pervin, 2013) This is why siblings
from the same family have different personalities. Peer groups socialize individuals; they create a
whole new set of rules for behavior. This can be seen especially in adolescence. Starting high school is
hard, because everyone is trying to figure out where they fit in. When you are that age, you need a
sense of belonging to feel complete. The people you find that you fit in with will likely influence the

The Importance Of Technological Changes In Education
From the past 20 years, there have been profound changes in education that people ever dreamt of.
Starting from the Abacus which made learning math easier, to word processor that changed the means
of writing and presenting a research paper; from the very beginning technological changes has shaped
education but with the addition of digital changes it has widely increased the speed of transforming.
According to the Global Competitiveness of Factors (2017), in year 2016 2017, the Philippines ranked
83 over 138 countries under the Technological Readiness Pillar. The Technological Readiness pillar
have 7 indicators, three of which are based on opinion survey questions (availability of latest
technologies, firm level technology absorption, and FDI and technology transfer) among CEO
respondents whose observations determine the country s ranking. Thus, technology has almost
influenced every aspect of life today and education is no exception. According to Jayson (2013), both
private and public sectors approve that technological innovations will continue to have major effects
on teaching approaches over the coming years. The walls of the classrooms are indeed no longer a
barrier as technology provides new ways of learning, communicating, and connecting efficiently. As a
result, according to Ayas (2002), new teachers are expected to enter the educational field with
knowledge not only in their content areas, but of technology as well. Visual learning employs the use

Online Privacy In The United States
The principle of freedom in the United States of America has always tied with one s private matters.
But with technology advancing at such a rapid rate, the idea of privacy might soon become something
from a fairytale. Especially included, is one s online persona. The American government has begun to
derestrict itself from the bounds of an individual s personal matters online. In reception, many
Americans feel that their natural given rights are being exploited. They feel that the government has

Sometimes, in order for an individual s own safety, sacrifices have to be made. The government has
full justification to arbitrate the people s online private matters because it is necessary for the
protection of the country and its citizens. One example comes from an underground network called the
deep web . The deep web could be described as the wild west of the internet. Numerous amounts of
information are posted on the deep web where normal search engines like Google or Bing do not
show. According to Tyler Biscontini, a writer for the Salem Press, the deep web is useful for many
different reasons. It provides anonymity to anyone using it. Special software must be downloaded in
order to run the deep web. This is mainly because the deep web s main feature is that the user s ip
address is changed so that they can roam the web free of the fear of being tracked. It also provides a
significant greater amount of information that is not accessible on a normal browser. Journalist
especially, use the deep web in order to dive into research and scouting topics for future stories.
However, the deep web can also be a dangerous place. Many individuals take advantage of its features
for wrongdoing. Due to the anonymity that comes with accessing the deep web, it is hard to track
down individuals performing the crimes. Lev Grossman, a writer for Time Magazine, describes an

Challenges Faced By Ethnic Minority Supervisors in Clinical Supervision

my personal experience as a supervisor and the gaps in literature review that motivated me to pursue
this area of research. In the past two and a half years of my doctoral program, I took courses

into how ethnicity and clinical supervision are related at a much deeper level, and how same/different
ethnicity of supervisors and supervisee affect the supervision process. The UF doctoral program has
given me a unique opportunity to supervise many supervisees from cultures (Chinese, Taiwanese,

Hellenistic School
Hellenistic is the period beginning when the military campaigns of Alexander the Great conquered
territories were infused with Greek culture including philosophy, language, art, and religion. After
Alexander died, the Greek dynasties that were divided among his generals were soon conquered by
the Romans. They then adapted the Greek culture and spreading it among their Empire. While then,
Athens continue following Plato s, Aristotle s, and several new Hellenistic schools as a philosophical.
The new schools started out still continue to discuss the same issues of nature. Yet, it was eventually
added a therapeutic element, offering accounts for how to attain happiness. Each Hellenistic school
then started to develop their own idea of what it would take for mankind to achieve eudaimonia,
happiness. The concept they came to will include Epicureanism, Stoicism, Skepticism, and Cynicism.

The Power of Herbs Essay
The Power of Herbs
Herbs are plants that have acquired some inherent value to humans (Keller, xiii). Three values that are
relevant to this report are edibility, medicinal property, and toxicity. All plants have the potential to fall
into the one or all of these categories.
Contrary to popular belief, the study of plants is not a pseudo science. This belief perpetuates the idea
that herbs need not be taken seriously. The study of herbs as a science, herbalism, safeguards human
safety when using these plants.
Modern rules of herbalism draw upon many cultures that have used herbs for thousands of years. The
first rule is that you only put in your mouth what you can positively identify. In many of the stories we

Many of the plants we consider weeds were eaten widely in the l9th century. All parts of the dandelion
can be eaten if prepared correctly (Elliot, 70). Plantain is a common plant that grows in lawns.
Plantain is a broadleaf weed is also edible and may have medicinal properties as well.
The medicinal properties of plants were found through trial and error. By eating plants, it was realized
that the same plants also had medicinal uses. Plants were used as diuretics, aphrodisiacs, cold and
cough remedies, pain relievers, and as many other remedies.
Greeks and Romans were very fond of aphrodisiacs. Asparagus, with it s strong aphrodisiac
properties, was once a food reserved only for rulers and kings (Keller, 15). Homer made references to
the aphrodisiac quality of celery in The Odyssey (Keller, 116).
Herbs were used in food and potions to extend youth and to cure other ailments. Onions, leeks, chives
and garlic were used to make a man feel youthful once again (Keller, 163). Parsley and sage were

Book Of Jonah
The book of Jonah is one that is very interesting because it is such a common story that is told
children, however, about half of the book is left out. Educators typically don t include chapters three
and four within their storytelling, so I was curious to learn about the rest of Jonah and what it would
entail for the relationship between Jonah and God. Within chapters three and four, Jonah is called to
go the city of Nineveh and give them a message that their city will be destroyed in forty days if they
did not repent for their sins. The people then decide that they want to turn from their evil ways and
repent for God. God than changes his mind and gives the people a second chance, however, Jonah is
angry about this decision. He remains angry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The journal by Karolien Vermeulen presented an interpretation that the people actually saved the city
themselves. In her debate, she explains that God had sent out a warning to the people and because of
that, the Ninevites responded by turning themselves around and looking up towards God. While doing
that, they actually eliminated the need to destroy the city. Vermeulen says within the journal, The
Ninevites brought themselves down; they were subjected to self destruction. Paradoxically, they saved
the city with this action, at least in the story world created in the book of Jonah (Vermeulen 224). I
found this interpretation very interesting because it runs parallel to my earlier question of the people s
sorrow. I do think that the people fear of their own destruction contributes to that fact that they were
so willing to give themselves over to God. I also wonder if God had instead told the people that they
would gain eternal salvation and had not given them a warning if they still would have

The Effects Of Mental Skills On Sports Psychology
Introduction The use of mental skills in sports psychology can both benefit an athlete to motivate
themselves and provide them with the self confidence to achieve although the use of these skills can
also have a negative impact on the athlete. This review of literature includes two different types of
mental skills that can be used to help an athlete in the rehabilitation process, one study to support the
concept that athletes benefit from a range of mental skills use is Arvinen Barrow et al. This study took
place in 2015, found out that 71.6% of 1283 athletes indicated that they believed mental skills helped
them to rehabilitate faster when using 3 types of mental skills (imagery, goal setting and positive self
talk). On the other hand there are studies which argue against the positives of mental skills more
specifically relaxation and imagery and one example is a study conducted by Francis, Andersen and
Maley (2000). The results from this study backed up the idea that positive self talk and positive
reinforcement from an external individual can help the rehabilitation process. However the athletes
used in this study did not believe that other mental skills such as relaxation or imagery were
particularly useful in the rehabilitation phase. Furthermore when athletes return to physical activity
there are theories that they are often feared of the injury occurring again and may not give themselves
the best chance to perform at their previous standards. The following examples of

Hamlet And Hamlet Comparison
When comparing two different Hamlet movies I found that one scene in particular was obviously
more different than the others. I compared Columbia pictures 1996 version with Kenneth Branagh
playing the role of Hamlet versus BBC s 2009 Hamlet in which David Tennant played the honorable
role of Hamlet. When comparing both movies I found a lot of similarities but there was one major
difference when I compared the To be or not to be scene. The scenes vary in multiple ways whether it
is lighting, focus, camera movements, and even the actors that play Hamlet.
I first want to dissect the 1996 movie in which Kenneth Branagh plays Hamlet. The To be or not to be
scene is clearly one of the most important scenes of the entire movie, so the directors ... Show more

While both did their job of acting out the scene I believe Kenneth Branagh s 1996 film does a much
better job. Kenneth choose to act the scene in a very grand ballroom, which I think was appropriate
due to the grandness of soliloquy itself. In the BBC version of the scene Hamlet is shown leaning
against a pillar with such low key lighting you can not tell what sort of room he is in. When Hamlet
first enters the grand ballroom in the older movie he takes his time to begin speaking which is crucial
between the transition between the last scene and the current scene. The length in speech gives the
audience the chance to settle in for what they are about to hear. In David Tennant s version he quickly
jumps into his speech not leaving much room for transition. The common audience does not
understand every word of the Shakespearean language hamlet speaks and may lose interest while
Hamlet continues to ramble on. The continued camera movement throughout Kenneth Branagh s
movies helps the audience to stay focussed on the movie even if they do not fully understand every
word Hamlet speaks. During Gregory Doran s movie, throughout the entire scene there are only two
transitions and the camera never moves in either position. This adds to the viewer losing interest, not
only are they bored by having nothing in the background to look at, due to the low key lighting, they
are bored by the complex English language Hamlet speaks and given only two transitions and no
movements to maintain their interest. The first representation of the To be or not to be speech creates
multiple plots to further add in maintaining the viewers interest. By placing the king and Polonius
behind the two way mirror and having Hamlet walk to the exact mirror creates a sense of urgency that
is non existent in the BBC version. Having this extra story allows

Conflicts in Africa, specifically in West African...
Conflicts in Africa, specifically in West African countries have been rampant for many years. As a
result of these conflicts, loss of life and properties has been witnessed for a number of decades.
Conflicts are as old as human kind. We can not avoid conflicts completely but they can be managed.
Since human exhibits different behaviour and aspirations, this in most cases leads to conflicts. In West
African countries, such conflicts have been fueled by a number of factors and individuals with
different personal motives. Conflicts are caused by a number of factors like competition for resources,
creed, and lack of strong law enforcers. When they are not well handled; small and manageable

CHILD SOLDIER IN WEST AFRICAAs the fight for supremacy continues in controlling the natural
resources, more so the diamond and oil, children have suffered heavily from the conflicts. Young boys
and girls are abducted and forced to join the soldier life without their consent. Legally, a child cannot
consent to what is right and wrong. This implies that such children are compelled to engage in
activities which they should not be doing. The higher demand for a strong fighting strength is one of
the core factors that enhance inclusion of children as soldiers. The groups fighting for control of
resources uses all means to have a fighting strength without paying attention to children rights. By
2005, it was estimated that more than 8000 children were involved in soldier hood activities, whereas,
more than 20,000 were awaiting demobilization. This is a big number, showing how greedy and
desperate the groups are to safe guard their supremacy (Bergner, 2003). The consequences of conflicts
in West Africa saw many children recruited as soldiers forcibly. The recruiters of children employ
different tactics to ensure such children remain in the group to fight for them. Of the strategies used is
to make sure the children witness the child rebels being severely punished. It is a way of instilling fear
to them, leaving them with no option of thinking to dessert the camp. During the fight, these children
are in most cases placed in the fore front fighting line

Development Of Hybrid Colonial Architecture
Colonial architecture is a combination architectural style of a country that has been adapted from the
other countries characteristics, methods and influences. The colonists built settlements and create
hybrid designs that include their countries of origin with the design styles. Europeans came to
Southeast Asia during 16th century. The colonial vision was effectively imposed on Southeast Asia. At
the beginning of the 20th century, most of the Southeast Asia countries were controlled by the British,
Dutch, French and the Americans. Under this colonial rule, the late 19th and early 20th centuries was
a period of fast development of such as new architectural styles, modern construction methods and
techniques, railways, roads, etc. They changed the configurations, construction and methods to make
the buildings more sustainable and maintained.
This essay focuses on the development of hybrid colonial architecture in early 20th century in
Southeast Asia. The essay investigates the different styles of buildings in different locations and
explains how these types of architecture combined both European and local origins. It explains the

Napoleon Bonaparte’s Invasion of Russia Essay
Napoleon s Invasion of Russia
Napoleon Bonaparte s invasion of Russia was a major factor in his downfall. In 1812, Napoleon,
whose alliance with Alexander I had disintegrated, launched an invasion into Russia that ended in a
disastrous retreat from Moscow. Thereafter, all of Europe, including his own allies, Austria and
Prussia, united against him. Although he continued to fight, the odds he faced were impossible. In
April 1814, Napoleon s own marshals refused to continue the struggle and stepped down from their
positions. During the actual Russian campaign, there were many key factors that greatly impacted his
downfall.
The largest army ever assembled for one single invasion was reduced to a mere fraction of its original

The artillery and small arms were years behind that of France. The Russian army was a conscription
army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain number of surfs for military service, as
opposed to a professional, trained army where the government supplies the soldiers with all of their
needs. An amazing half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s Grand Armée (Saglamer,
Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for one single invasion. Russia s army
was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian
army not well trained, they were also ill equipped. Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and
extremely slow for Russia to mobilize her army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure. If
Napoleon invaded now, he knew that he could be well into the Russian territory before meeting any
major opposition. On June 24, 1812, Napoleon began his fatal Russian campaign. The Grand Armée,
led by Napoleon, crossed the Nieman River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met
virtually no major opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign,
the Grand Armée was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine thousand horses and
thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the pace of the army. Harsh weather
conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the

Difference Between Principle Based And Rule Based Regulation
Q1. Outline the difference between Principles based and Rules based regulation. The main difference
between principle based and rule based regulation is the level of detailed instruction involved. Rule
based is a strict manner in how a body should behave, whereas principle based regulation, is a
guideline, leaving the body with some freedom on how they comply with it. This distinction may not
be clearly defined. While in theory, the difference between both systems may be clear cut, in practice,
they may overlap, or a system may have to adopt a mixture of both rule based and principle based
regulation, Rules may become more principle like through the addition of qualifications and

Tobacco Smoking Is The Largest Single Preventable Cause Of...
Overview
Tobacco smoking is the largest single preventable cause of death and disease in Australia (Cancer
Council, 2006). The 2003 Australian Burden of disease study considers tobacco smoking as a leading
cause of disease burden in Australia (Begg S, 2003). Anti Cancer Council of Australia conducted its
first national survey which shows that during the middle of last century, large numbers of males aged
16 and over were smokers and compared to females. However, in the following decades, the
prevalence of smoking decreased among males due to publicity regarding health effects of smoking
which first started in 1950s and early 1960s (Gray N and Hill D, 1975). According to the survey

Melbourne campaign in its first year of campaign. This decline continued over the next 4 years for

reduction in prevalence of smoking both in terms of smokers to quit smoking and in reducing the
uptake of smoking among children.

Mutual Relationships With Mutual Relationship
There is a lot of different opinions when it comes to having a mutual relationship with a male and
female without it being anything more. Many believe that this is not right because they feel as though
that no man and woman could possibly be friends without any feelings involved in the relationship.
This view is often associated with the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is
of the opposite sex. Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is
wrong with it because they are used to it. I feel as though this topic is rooted to the fact that it is only

However, people argue that a heterosexual male and female couldn t be friends because it often ends
with them starting a relationship even if they were friends with the person while they had a significant
other. I have also seen this happen where a friend of mines was friends with a girl that had a boyfriend
and he also had a girlfriend but now they were so close that their friendship has turned into a

even though sometimes their intentions often change.
Communicating with a person of the opposite sex about how you feel emotionally often helps because
something you would not feel comfortable with just venting to the same sex. Although men seem

go through things that hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than
another male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort, sure your
buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how you feel deep down inside it
is helpful to have a female to talk to. Often women are more comfortable to talk to than a guy about

Summary Of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised
P 1: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is a poem and song by Gil Scott Heron. It was written in
1970 for his album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox . During this time there was a profound shift in the
struggle for equality as the fight for civil rights gave way to the demand for Black Power. Scott Heron
tried to attract and encourage all people to continue being actively involved in the revolution and not
to just watch it from a safe distance. He also warned people to be wary of the media and their
portrayal of African American society. The song looks at the power of the media not just in observing
society s politics but in shaping them. He reminds us that big corporations own everything we see on
television and even when we do get involved in the revolution, there will be no news coverage on it.
The song aims to denounce the elusive nature of political culture in Nixon s America, and the inability
of the mainstream to capture the real heart of the people (Smith). The Revolution Will Not Be

most successful countries in the region, and even the world. So how did it manage to get so far in such
a short amount of time? The key to Israel s prosperity lies in cooperation with developed/rapidly
developing countries. Whether that cooperation results in economic exchange or information used to
better develop products or solve common economic issues, Israel has taken advantage of the highly
globalized economy in order to jump start it to where it is today.
Because of Israel s cooperation with developed/rapidly developing countries in the global economy,
its economic prosperity too, is rapidly developing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Israeli place in the global economy has been growing since its beginning, and there are only signs
of more exponential growth as the US and Chinese economies grow into an even bigger asset. Ever
since Israel s jump start in the global economy due to valuable economic partnerships with the west,
they have been in a good spot. Having the United States as an economic partner has brought them
together in many senses, and as Israel continues to develop their relationships with other world
powers, especially in the East, China specifically, Israelwill gain a new economic security that puts
them in a place where they only have to worry about advancement. Nonetheless, they continue to
develop with the values and goals of OECD, and economically, the continued development of Israel is
secure and bright and will continue to be a source of wealth to the globalized

The Controversy Between Mercantilism And Free Trade
The controversy that currently swirls around the phenomenon of globalization is to a large extent a
variation on a much older debate between mercantilist supporters of protectionism and liberal
proponents of free trade. In its classic sixteenth century conception, mercantilism was a policy aimed
at increasing the national wealth via the accumulation of precious metals like gold and silver.
Modern mercantilism, or neomercantilism, is focused instead on accumulation of national wealth via a
trade surplus, which is the result of exporting more than one imports. When a country has a trade
surplus, it both accumulates monetary reserves and promotes the development of domestic industries.
This mercantilist concern with national wealth accumulation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Consider the following hypothetical example.
A farmer in Minnesota decides to switch from producing soybeans to growing bananas. His reasoning
is that unlike soybean fields, which are very common in the United States, his banana plantation will
be the only one in the continental
United States. The cold climate in Minnesota will make growing bananas difficult, but he plans to
construct acres of enormous greenhouses in which the temperature, humidity, and soil will be perfect
for growing bananas. Of course, these
Minnesota hothouse bananas will be very expensive, and although a few consumers might be
persuaded to pay the premium price for Minnesota bananas because of their high quality or to support
a local producer, the vast majority of shoppers are likely to continue to buy much cheaper bananas
imported from Central
America. However, the farmer has persuaded his local congressional representative to introduce
legislation imposing high tariffs on imported bananas. If that legislation passes, the cost of the tariff
will be passed onto the consumer, making Central American bananas more expensive and Minnesota
bananas more

Spread Of Islam Spread
The Islam started to spread because Muhammad told his followers to go spread the Arabian Peninsula
because he wanted people to understand that it was something really important to be taught Their but
first let s talk about Muhammad s lifetime. How he became that important for the people that followed
and believed in him too.But there was some twist while the Islam wanted to spread. Well , Muhammad

Worldview Reflection Paper
I thought there were a lot of good points made in the first video. The main point however, that I want
to hit on, is the point that morality is relative. I thought the panel in the video did a great job pointing
out the logical fallacy of moral relativism. Depending on the consciousness of the person you are
going to get a host of different moral standards that does not conform to each other. If this kind of
thinking was able to flourish in society, then it would lead to absolute chaos in how our judicial
structure works. At the end of the day there has to be some kind of absolute moral guidance for there
to be any order in a society that actually functions correctly. I really enjoyed the second video as well
and how concisely it was able to explain what a Christian worldview really was. Out of that video I
was able to get a better grasp and comprehension on the importance of having a Christian worldview.
Everyone on planet earth has a worldview of some kind. This worldview determines how a person
thinks, acts, and lives. The central focus of the Christian worldview is God himself. Everything
begins, ends, and is centered on God and his character. This creates a worldview that is not focused on
the mankind and filtered that way, but rather it is focused on God and who he is. I believe this
worldview is imperative to have among believers and it is important that we check our minds and our
hearts to make sure that our worldview aligns itself with the truth of God s word. I

The Importance Of Andrew Jackson And The Common Man
Imagine if we didn t win the War of 1812 or if the common people felt unwanted? Where would we be
without Andrew Jackson? Andrew Jackson s presidency should be admired because he supported the
common man and thought the rich were overrated, he also a well known war hero. This topic is
relevant because Andrew Jackson made it so the people were treated as equals, and how different
groups shouldn t be treated better just because of their money status. It also is relevant because our
country wouldn t have double without the War of 182 or our success during the Revolutionary.
Andrew Jackson wasn t born into the richest family, in fact he lived out most of his life an orphan.
President Jackson always thought that the rich were over privileged or didn t deserve what they were
given. Andrew Jackson wanted to make sure the common people felt just as equal as the rich. Jackson
also was a well renowned war hero for his victory during the War of 1812 which gave the United
States the ability to double in size or it wouldn t have given us the social status that was
desired.Because Andrew Jackson was a common man himself, how did he put towards that part of his
life into his acts as president?
Andrew Jackson wasn t just a president, he was also a common man. Jackson was most famous
because he believed in the common man, and that s what he fought for and how he wanted to model
the country. The common man started as almost the lowest of the system until Jackson helped them
rise to be one of

Greek Influence On Italy
Italy is a nation that is present in southern Europe on the Mediterranean Sea. It is also known for its
cultural heritage and for its most famous architectural achievements. However, Italy is also considered
by many historians as one of the most sly and mysterious country in World War I. Many would
remember major powers such as Great Britain, Germany, and Russia, however, these small countries
contribute to major battles and events in history. Moreover, Italy infamously went from being a neutral
country to being a victim of war. Likewise, Italy has been in the same situation as Belgium in which
they follow a policy of neutrality but in the end are influenced by other countries to join the war. Italy
is considered by scholars as a key contributor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether in times of Renaissance or when the Roman Empire began to flourish, Italy had remained
loyal to their culture. The culture of italy had originated from Greece which, no one had outdone them
until the reign of the Roman Empire. The culture of Greece had such a major impact that it can be
seen centuries later. Primarily, this can be authenticated as seen in the religion aspect in World War I.
Italy s main religion is catholicism which comprised ¾ of the population while the ¼ of the people
were cast out and were forgotten. The religion of Catholicism has been present since ancient times and
is still present today. Furthermore, Italy s culture was so great and extraordinary because their culture
was very unique unlike any other nation. As a result, many civilizations and nations had been greatly
influenced almost to the point of assimilation. Such unique aspects can be observed in their art. Artists
like Leonardo Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Raphael, and Michelangelo are one of the many influential artists
in the world. Their famous paintings such as the Mona Lisa, The Scream, Starry Night, and The
Creation of Adam have been so successful that they are the most recognizable pieces of art today.
Furthermore, artists of italy have been known to be very adroit at creating fascinating sculptures like
The Statue of David and The Madonna of Humility. However, music and drama had the same degree
of influence just as art had on its people and other nations. Music has been known to play a major role
in society since the beginning of the Middle Ages. For example, Andrea Amati who had lived from the
ages of 1500 until 1577, laid the basis of violin making. The art of drama had originated in Greece but
it was culturally diffused into the empire of Rome. It s main

Im Proud To Be Puerto Rican Essay
Are you Puerto Rican or American? Hesitantly, I don t know what to say when people ask me this
question because I feel that I have to choose between the two ethnicities. Since I was born in the U.S.,
I am considered American. But, if I say I am American, I am asked about my origins. Thus,
controversy evolves around inhabitants of Puerto Rico because they are considered Americans since
Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States.
My skin is white, my eyes are brown, and my hair is dark brown. I am confused with Europeans, such
as Italians, Portuguese, or Spanish. As early as the sixth grade, I experienced prejudice indirectly. I
grew up in a predominately white neighborhood where I consistently heard racist thoughts about
Latinos. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While they talked about Latinos, I kept quiet; I didn t want them to think of me negatively. This
experience lasted throughout the school year. When I returned to school after the summer break, half
of my classmates were Latinos.
The Latinos in my class differed in the way that they were proud to say they were Puerto Rican,
Mexican, and Dominican. Thus, I pursued a relationship with these classmates and I began to feel
differently about Latinos. I realized that I was taking part in the prejudice thoughts my previous
classmates had toward Latinos by concealing my identity. I also recognized that Latinos were
struggling to pursue a better life and that we are looked down upon. As a result of discrimination, it is
difficult for us to accomplish our goals in life. Presently, every opportunity I get, I talk about my
culture. I discuss the hardships Latinos face and I describe my experience growing up Puerto Rican.
Although I am Puerto Rican, I don t know as much about my culture as I should. Reading Harvest of
Empire: A History of Latinos in America by Juan Gonzalez has brought new insights to my knowledge
of Puerto Ricans and Latinos in general. Gonzalez focuses on language and writes that speaking
Spanish is treated as a handicap instead of as an asset.
Gonzalez gives us a brief history of Puerto Rico. He writes about the changes of the official language,
which was English in the past and has changed to Spanish.

The Treatment Of Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy, also known as regenerative medication, has been an increasingly utilized therapy in
recent years. The cells added to the body interact with the surrounding body, making the regenerative
process available to begin the healing process of the cells at the site (R. (2014)). These therapies are
used to heal common sport injuries such as a knee injury, diseases, arthritis, and many other crippling
effects that may occur in the human body (R. (2014)). Many of the stem cells that are used from the
therapies can come from bone marrow, fat,and blood from the patient or even cells from more
controversial areas such human embryos. Stem cell therapy has shown a lot of promising effects, not
only outshining the effects of prescription medicine given out to patients from doctors, but it has also
shown that the therapy has long term effects than a steroid would have had.
Stem cell therapy is important because it has given hope to several people with common illnesses such
as arthritis, knee pains, and back pains by regenerating their cells to realize the pain that they are in.
Most of the patients who come in for sport related injuries are professional athletes. Most of the time
these athletes are the ones who have obtained a knee injury in basketball or football and are resorting
the use of a steroid to try to fix the pain, but soon realize that it is not a long lasting effect. This is
where stem cell therapy comes into play. Chris Johnson from the New York Jets was one

Fourth Episode Of San Junipero s Black Mirror
Science fiction has been defined differently over the years. The most recognizable characteristics are
science, technology, scientific method, disasters, and time travel. Science fiction is a genre found in
many kinds of media, some including: books, art, television, films, theatre, etc. It all depends on the
author on how they want to despite the use of science. In the fourth episode San Junipero of season
three of the sci fi series Black Mirror, the audience is introduced to a future world in which the
consciousness of the dead or dying can be uploaded into a simulated reality system, where they can
live in the fantasy town of San Junipero as their younger selves forever. The fourth episode San

the promise she made to her husband to die as he did, and hoped that something or someone is
waiting. I wouldn t upload my conscience to the cloud, I would rather chose the unknown natural
death as Kellys husband did. Death is a part of life, yet many people are willing to spend large
amounts of money in attempt to avoid aging, infirmity, and death, and even if we are not motivated to
try to look like we can avoid the inevitable. No one can escape death, because everything that is born
must die. Consciousness is an idea that we have based on subjective experience and not based on
anything that we can really measure or observe in brains. We know that there s consciousness because
we can self report it. In reality no one really knows what makes us conscious, or what parts of the
brain are responsible for that, or what processes in the brain. There is no doubt that computers at some
point might be powerful enough that they can just simulate a

Dynamic Character In Romeo And Juliet
With Romeo s lack of strength, comes a static character who never changes, stays a petulant character
throughout most of the story, never truly changing. Romeo at the beginning of the play was whining
over the fact that Rosaline would not become romantically involved with him. Romeo whined that ...
[Rosaline] She ll not be hit/ With Cupid s arrow. She hath Dian s wit./ And, in strong proof of chastity
well arm d/ From love s weak childish bow, she lives uncharmed. (I.I.199 203). Romeo is complaining
to Benvolio that she will not love him and there is nothing he can do about it. Overall, He was so
entranced with her beauty, that when she refused him, it drove him into a depression. Later, after he

Juliet may have been naive in some parts of the story, but she changed and grew up later in the story.
After Romeo came up to Juliet and the Nurse called her away she told him If that thy bent of love be
honorable,/Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow/By one that I ll procure to come to thee
(II.II.143 145). This was only the second time she met him and she was already agreeing to marry her.
These may have been different times, and parents during this time chose their children s spouses, but
Juliet is doing this of her own accord. However, later she grew up and became even more mature with
Tybalt s death. When the Nurse revealed the full details of Tybalt s death, Juliet realized that if Romeo
didn t kill Tybalt, Tybalt would ve killed Romeo. When Juliet realized this, she said Back, foolish
tears, back to your native spring. (III.II.104). Juliet willing her tears back not only shows her maturity,
but it also shows her strength. Juliet became mature and strong enough to realize what would ve
happened if Romeo didn t kill Tybalt. She instead of crying over Tybalt s death, she cried over what
could ve happened to her

Research Paper On Cinque Terre Day
Cinque Terre Day 2: Thursday June 23, 2016 We forced ourselves to get a very early start this
morning so we could beat the crowds in the remaining two towns, Vernazza and Monterosso. We
arrived in numero quattro, Vernazza, just as all the locals and shop keepers were getting ready for the
day, and we enjoyed having the little town to ourselves. Or at least it felt that way after the crowds we
experienced the day before. Then, it was on to numero cinque, Monterosso! According to Rick Steves,
it is Cinque Terre s only resort town. Both Bob and I were not expecting to like it as much as the other
towns from this description. However, along with Corniglia, it ended up being one of our favorites.
Since it is a little larger than the other

  • 3. Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo While each piece of literature is completely different, some of them have similar patterns and ideas. One of these ideas would be human nature. Human nature is anything that is natural for a human to do and can not be stopped easily. Things like greed and too much power can change someone greatly. This can be the cause of many problems and can make someone who is a good person into a bad person. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, the writers use of allusions and metaphors convey the idea that human nature can be the cause of misfortune. The story of Viva La Vida, by Coldplay, is about a king who has too much power and ends up being overthrown from people in his kingdom. Coldplay expresses this story in metaphors. I used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This king had the key to the castle, meaning that he knew what the people wanted. The way Coldplay explains this story makes it seem like the people living in the king s castle turned on him, hence the reference to the walls closing in on himself. This king must have been hated for something he did, then again, every human makes mistakes. Although, this must not have been the first time because he lost his whole castle just from a mistake. Then he starts to realize why he was wrong. The downfall of this king could have been from bragging about his power too much since it is human nature to brag. Or possibly being overwhelmed with too much power giving his enemies a chance to attack. Another metaphor with the same meaning can be found in The Count of Monte Cristo. The same thing that happened to Brutus the night before the Battle of Philippi: I saw a ghost. And that ghost told me I have lived long enough (Dumas 381). At this moment in the story, the count is preparing for his duel with Albert. He then tells Maximilien that he plans on dying during the duel and leaving Maximilien his will. Maximilien is shocked and asks the count why he would ever do such a thing. The count responds with the above quote. This quote is a metaphor and shows how it is in a human s nature to want to forget the people who you don t like. This quote uses the example of Mercedes since she was the ghost that came to Dantes the night before the duel and begged him not to kill her son. Dantes responds by saying that he can not live with the dishonor of backing away from a duel, so he agreed to let Albert ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay about 1912 Election The Effects on American Politics From the Election of 1912 During the Progressive Era, Americans faced the challenge of choosing between four strong candidates of the election of 1912. Each candidate held concrete platforms that would have different effects on progressivism. Americans could chose the conservative presidential incumbent William Howard Taft(R), the New Jersey governor Woodrow Wilson (D), the long time fighter for social reform Eugene V. Debs (S), or the former president Theodore Roosevelt of the newly formed Bull Moose Party (Progressive Party). In the August before the election, the most successful third party in the 20th century was formed. After Theodore Roosevelt was denied the Republican nomination, he was elected in the newly formed Progressive Party. Theodore was the man for the job saying, In loyalty, honor and duty there was nothing for me to do but to heed their call and make the race with all my might, regardless of present or future consequences to myself . (Miller 527) With this spirit, this third party had accomplished the unthinkable by becoming in second in the presidential election of 1912. This was the only time in American history that the Republican Party has come in third in both the popular and electoral vote. Sidney M. Milkis stated, Ostensibly, the cause of Progressivism—the platform s commitment to direct democracy and social and industrial justice—gave reform leadership its dignity, indeed its heroic quality. (Claremont Institute) The Progressive Party s accomplishment proved that third parties can have influence on an election and they are not to be taken lightly. This election served as the initial step into the world of politics for women. The Progressive Party was the only main party to support women s rights, and women were extremely active in supporting it. That means the actor must be compelling of who the character actually is, in addition to the scenes being true to the actual event, place and time. I also believe the plot of the story is essential as a true drama is one classified as the hero dying or making you feel sad. American Sniper , a drama and true story about a legendary sniper and navy seal, Kris Kyle accomplishes the heartfelt experience of family, death, commitment and the life of a true soldier. Whereas, Cooper does a better job at making Kyle seem like a more welcoming character. There is no question what his intentions are throughout the entire movie. While he struggles with home and deployment, he gives an excellent performance on what it is really like to face decisions where there is a sacrifice either way. His character really shines through and make anyone think about what goes through a person s mind and what they have been through. For me, when he was in the tire shop and the young man approached and recognized him, thanking him for saving his life, his voice, tone and demeanor shifted...stuttering, his voice dropped and at a loss for words, coming across discourteous. • 10. Essay about Richard as an Anti-hero Richard as an Anti hero: To what extent does Richard embody this archetype? In William Shakespeare s play, Richard III, Richard is portrayed as physically deformed and psychologically affected. It is believed that his inner soul is a reflection of his physical deformities. Richard is considered as the protagonist of this play, however this is highly contradictive. A protagonist is the hero of the story who exhibits characteristics of courage and perseverance, and is admired for their brave deeds as well as their noble qualities. Richard however, contradicts the character portrayal of a hero and demonstrates himself as the exact opposite: an anti hero. He insists to her it is only fair that she take his life in response. Lady Anne rejects, falling for Richard s trap for she accepts his proposal of love. Richard succeeds in manipulation. When they arrived on the dock more than half of the sailors aboard were incohesive and the others were running high fevers. Everyone on the ship had black boils that oozed blood and pus. In panic, the Sician authorities ordered all of ships and infected people out of the harbor. The winter before the Great Plague was a dry one. Allowing rodents to live more freely. Since the weather was on the more dryer side, the rodent population did not decrease as it would during any other winter. When spring came along the air was hot and sticky, giving the female rodents a chance to give birth to two litters. With London s hotter weather, it soonly became known as the rat infested city. • 12. Benefits Of Electronic Medical Record Introduction There are many benefits of using electronic medical record (EMR). This paper will discuss the benefits of electronic medical record for the physicians, patients, and the healthcare organizations. Benefits of EMR for Physicians There are so many benefits for physicians to use electronic medical record, for example, they can eliminate a tremendous amount of paperwork since most of their charting is done on the computer. Another advantage of using electronic medical record is the fact that it allows for easy transfer of data or information to other departments or medical providers. This ability of the electronic medical record helps to eliminate errors, it also less time consuming and it prevents physicians and patients from repeating the same test. It also helps to prevent patients from over exposing their body to unnecessary radiation. It is also important to note that healthcare insurance is also enjoying this feature of the electronic medical record since they are saving money whereby they will not have to pay for duplicate testing. The electronic medical record being able to transfer patients data and information from one provider to the next is important since it allows collaborations among various departments and healthcare facilities, also, physicians do not have to worry about paperwork being misplaced or misfiled. • 13. Relationship Between Vivian And Molly In any genuine friendship there are the differences between the people that spark curiosity, yet, it is similarities that draw two together to form a tight bond. This is evident in the friendship that starts between Vivian and Molly. Vivian, from outward show, does not display the slightest similarity with Molly. It is not until one examines the often tragic back stories of both that striking parallels begin to be made clear. By the time all is uncovered, the likenesses shared between Vivian and Molly far outweigh any disparities. In examining the relationship between Vivian and Molly, a perfect balance is struck in Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. In Orphan Train, Christina Baker Kline weaves a strong friendship between two characters, Vivian and Molly, despite a lengthy list of differences. The most blatant contrast, and the root cause of many other differences, is age and the separate eras both Vivian and Molly grow up in. In the span of her life, Vivian Nielsen, a ninety one year old widow, experiences the Great Depression, World War II, and a technology boom impossible to keep up with. On the other hand, Molly Ayer is a sixteen year old tech savvy foster child who uses her Goth persona like armor against an unsympathetic society (Kline 4). Another dissimilarity is ethnicity. Vivian is a first generation Irish immigrant and in being a Penobscot Native American Indian, Molly is unable to be more different than Vivian. While these differences seem apparent, the ... Caillat uses simplicity and a contemporary music style in Try to convey the suffocation women feel because they try to live up to these stereotypes in the 21st century. When Caillat wrote her song, she used repetition of her lyrics to hit home the theme that women are beautiful inside and out. Caillat stated in an interview that When you have a cute outfit on and your makeup looks amazing, the first thing people comment on is your image . . . when you don t wear makeup, you hear things like, Oh wow, you look tired or you re so brave for not wearing makeup! A lot of close up shots showed only their faces, and side by side videos of before and after as the women wiped off their makeup with solemn faces, but showed smiling or laughing faces when not wearing makeup. The lighting was perfect and nobody s skin was oily, had any acne, discoloration, or scars. Those imperfections society judges more because it is gross and easy to point out. • 15. Personality Characteristics Of Personality Traits In chapter one of the textbook, it describes how to define personality. There is no single definition of the word personality. That is because it is used in so many different ways, and because one word describing someone s personality can be interpreted many different ways. For example, if you describe yourself as a happy person , that could mean something different to another person who also describes themselves as happy . Your personality is an arrangement of personality traits that describe a consistent style of emotion or behavior. Personality traits can be recognizable in various situations of a person s life. A personality trait can be, shy or outgoing those words are describing a daily behavior that, on average, is consistent with that individual. Personality is made up from all different parts genetics, social class, family and peers. The textbook says, some psychologists view the influence of peers on personality greater than the influence of family. (Cervone Pervin, 2013) This is why siblings from the same family have different personalities. Peer groups socialize individuals; they create a whole new set of rules for behavior. This can be seen especially in adolescence. Starting high school is hard, because everyone is trying to figure out where they fit in. Thus, technology has almost influenced every aspect of life today and education is no exception. According to Jayson (2013), both private and public sectors approve that technological innovations will continue to have major effects on teaching approaches over the coming years. The walls of the classrooms are indeed no longer a barrier as technology provides new ways of learning, communicating, and connecting efficiently. Hellenistic School Hellenistic is the period beginning when the military campaigns of Alexander the Great conquered territories were infused with Greek culture including philosophy, language, art, and religion. After Alexander died, the Greek dynasties that were divided among his generals were soon conquered by the Romans. They then adapted the Greek culture and spreading it among their Empire. While then, Athens continue following Plato s, Aristotle s, and several new Hellenistic schools as a philosophical. The new schools started out still continue to discuss the same issues of nature. Educators typically don t include chapters three and four within their storytelling, so I was curious to learn about the rest of Jonah and what it would entail for the relationship between Jonah and God. Within chapters three and four, Jonah is called to go the city of Nineveh and give them a message that their city will be destroyed in forty days if they did not repent for their sins. Paradoxically, they saved the city with this action, at least in the story world created in the book of Jonah (Vermeulen 224). The Effects Of Mental Skills On Sports Psychology Introduction The use of mental skills in sports psychology can both benefit an athlete to motivate themselves and provide them with the self confidence to achieve although the use of these skills can also have a negative impact on the athlete. This review of literature includes two different types of mental skills that can be used to help an athlete in the rehabilitation process, one study to support the concept that athletes benefit from a range of mental skills use is Arvinen Barrow et al. This study took place in 2015, found out that 71.6% of 1283 athletes indicated that they believed mental skills helped them to rehabilitate faster when using 3 types of mental skills (imagery, goal setting and positive self talk). On the other hand there are studies which argue against the positives of mental skills more specifically relaxation and imagery and one example is a study conducted by Francis, Andersen and Maley (2000). The results from this study backed up the idea that positive self talk and positive reinforcement from an external individual can help the rehabilitation process. However the athletes used in this study did not believe that other mental skills such as relaxation or imagery were particularly useful in the rehabilitation phase. Furthermore when athletes return to physical activity there are theories that they are often feared of the injury occurring again and may not give themselves the best chance to perform at their previous standards. While both did their job of acting out the scene I believe Kenneth Branagh s 1996 film does a much better job. Kenneth choose to act the scene in a very grand ballroom, which I think was appropriate due to the grandness of soliloquy itself. In the BBC version of the scene Hamlet is shown leaning against a pillar with such low key lighting you can not tell what sort of room he is in. When Hamlet first enters the grand ballroom in the older movie he takes his time to begin speaking which is crucial between the transition between the last scene and the current scene. The length in speech gives the audience the chance to settle in for what they are about to hear. In David Tennant s version he quickly jumps into his speech not leaving much room for transition. The common audience does not understand every word of the Shakespearean language hamlet speaks and may lose interest while Hamlet continues to ramble on. The continued camera movement throughout Kenneth Branagh s movies helps the audience to stay focussed on the movie even if they do not fully understand every word Hamlet speaks. During Gregory Doran s movie, throughout the entire scene there are only two transitions and the camera never moves in either position. This adds to the viewer losing interest, not only are they bored by having nothing in the background to look at, due to the low key lighting, they are bored by the complex English language Hamlet speaks and given only two transitions and no movements to maintain their interest. The first representation of the To be or not to be speech creates multiple plots to further add in maintaining the viewers interest. By placing the king and Polonius behind the two way mirror and having Hamlet walk to the exact mirror creates a sense of urgency that is non existent in the BBC version. Many believe that this is not right because they feel as though that no man and woman could possibly be friends without any feelings involved in the relationship. This view is often associated with the person who has a significant other that has a close friend that is of the opposite sex. Others who have friends that are of the opposite sex feel as though nothing is wrong with it because they are used to it. Although men seem strong and nothing ever phases them it is important to have a friend for emotional support. Often men go through things that hit them emotionally and it is better to have a female to vent to rather than another male. This is shown when someone loses a family or a tragic situation of that sort, sure your buddies can give you a word of encouragement but to tell someone how you feel deep down inside it is helpful to have a female to talk to. • 37. Summary Of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised P 1: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised is a poem and song by Gil Scott Heron. It was written in 1970 for his album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox . During this time there was a profound shift in the struggle for equality as the fight for civil rights gave way to the demand for Black Power. Scott Heron tried to attract and encourage all people to continue being actively involved in the revolution and not to just watch it from a safe distance. He also warned people to be wary of the media and their portrayal of African American society. The song looks at the power of the media not just in observing society s politics but in shaping them. He reminds us that big corporations own everything we see on television and even when we do get involved in the revolution, there will be no news coverage on it. The song aims to denounce the elusive nature of political culture in Nixon s America, and the inability of the mainstream to capture the real heart of the people (Smith). He is urging his community to resist the pessimism of passivity and to fight actively for the change they want to see. There is also a sense of immediacy to the message. Modern mercantilism, or neomercantilism, is focused instead on accumulation of national wealth via a trade surplus, which is the result of exporting more than one imports. • 43. Worldview Reflection Paper I thought there were a lot of good points made in the first video. The main point however, that I want to hit on, is the point that morality is relative. I thought the panel in the video did a great job pointing out the logical fallacy of moral relativism. Depending on the consciousness of the person you are going to get a host of different moral standards that does not conform to each other. If this kind of thinking was able to flourish in society, then it would lead to absolute chaos in how our judicial structure works. At the end of the day there has to be some kind of absolute moral guidance for there to be any order in a society that actually functions correctly. I really enjoyed the second video as well and how concisely it was able to explain what a Christian worldview really was. Out of that video I was able to get a better grasp and comprehension on the importance of having a Christian worldview. Everyone on planet earth has a worldview of some kind. This worldview determines how a person thinks, acts, and lives. The central focus of the Christian worldview is God himself. Everything begins, ends, and is centered on God and his character. This creates a worldview that is not focused on the mankind and filtered that way, but rather it is focused on God and who he is. I believe this worldview is imperative to have among believers and it is important that we check our minds and our hearts to make sure that our worldview aligns itself with the truth of God s word. The culture of italy had originated from Greece which, no one had outdone them until the reign of the Roman Empire. The culture of Greece had such a major impact that it can be seen centuries later. Primarily, this can be authenticated as seen in the religion aspect in World War I. Italy s main religion is catholicism which comprised ¾ of the population while the ¼ of the people were cast out and were forgotten. The religion of Catholicism has been present since ancient times and is still present today. Furthermore, Italy s culture was so great and extraordinary because their culture was very unique unlike any other nation.
