Analysis Of The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel
Have people ever thought of why human rights can t be equalized for everyone in the world? One
victim that experienced his rights being violated was a Jewish boy in 1944 during the time that Hitler
took over many peoples dreams and hopes including their own lives. Many deaths could have been
prevented if people didn t choose to be bystanders. Human rights are not possible to actualized for
every person in the universe. Many people choose to be ignorant of serious issues and don t care what
happens around them. This ignorance of people causes major problems that affects everyone in some
way, but people can t actualize rights for everyone if they decide to ignore social issues as if it was
their duty.
It is not possible for human rights to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elie Wiesel affirms, I was saved miraculously. I succeeded in coming back... I wanted to come back to
warn you (The Night 7). This shows how many humans fight for other people s rights. This shows
how there are a big amount of people who care not just for themselves but for others. This evidence
shows how people have sympathy for others. This reveals how there are people that do stand up for
what s right to make the world a better place to live in. This evidence reveals how there is always hope
for justice to happen if everyone fights for what s right. This reveals that people give hope to other
who don t stand up for their own rights. This is important because it shows how people care for others
well being and health. However, the evidence shows that human rights cannot be actualized for
everyone because many people choose to avoid people s rights getting violated because it easier to do.
The author clearly announces in his speech, It is so much easier to look away from victims. It is so
much easier to avoid such rude interruptions to our work, our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 28 29). This
evidence shows how people choose to avoid the problems around them and don t do anything to
improve those issues. This reveals that people avoid problems to not be part of unfair actions that are
being done. This is important because it shows how ignorant people are toward others and how

The Book Thief Essay
Taylor Worthington Mr. Dwyer Honors English 3 4 Black 9 June 2014 Independent Novel Essay
Small literary devices create maximized results in the novel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Zusak
s novel is about a young girl, named Liesel Meminger, who after losing her brother was given away by
her mother to a couple from Mochling, Germany, named Hans and Rosa Hubermann. The Hubermann
s raise Liesel well, helping her through chaos she went through, as Liesel made friends, like her best
friend and unknown lover, Rudy Steiner. As Liesel explores her love of books and her thrive to steal
she is acquainted with a Jew, who comes to hide in the Hubermann basement. As World War II

little under two years later. (Zusak 242) Now the reader anticipates a near death for this young
character. The next instance of foreshadowing is not related to death, and gives away no more than a
slice of what is about to come in the story. After the protagonist makes her first steal at the graveyard
of her brother, when she steals: The Gravediggers Handbook, Death tells us the future of Liesel s
stealing career with books. Liesel owned fourteen books, of the ten most prominent, ...six were stolen,
one showed up at the kitchen table, two were made for her by a hidden Jew, and one was delivered by
a soft, yellow dressed afternoon. (Zusak 30) From this we gather not only that Liesel continued a
illustrious career of stealing, but also that her life entailed a hidden Jew. A third occurrence of
foreshadowing in this novel is a discrete example of this device. After a stock character, named Frau
Holtzapfel, spits on the door of the Hubermans, Death remarks, Both [of her sons] were in the army
and both will make cameo appearances by the time we re finished here, I assure you. (Zusak 44) This
hint at the future of the book is a preparation of what is to come for these characters, and if caught, is
very important. While these foreshadowings may be hard to catch on to, they can give away essential
information to the story. Irony is third and final literary device the reader finds to enhance the story.

The coefficient of static friction between brass and different materials were experimentally determined
by observing slip angels. A brass block was placed at the top of different ramps made of rubber, wood,
sandpaper, and Teflon. Once the angle of the ramp was raised high enough the block began to slip, the
angle at this point was measured. Static friction reaches a maximum at the slip angle, thus allowing
the block to slip. Vector components, Newton s second law, and the equation fs= Âľsn, can be used to
derive the equation µs = tan(Ɵ); the static coefficient of friction equals tan(Ɵ) of the slip angle. The
ramp material and its respective slip angles were rubber 50o, wood 22o, sandpaper 25o, and Teflon

Alfred Adler Research Paper
Alfred Adler was born in Vienna, Austria on February 7, 1870. From his birth he had rickets, a disease
that weakens the growth plates in children, and couldn t walk until he was four years of age because of
this. When he was just five, he was taken sick with pneumonia and reportedly almost died, some
believe these early diseases in his life are the inspiration in Adler s path to becoming a physician. In
1888, Alfred began attending the University of Vienna Medical School and later graduated with his
medical degree in 1895. After his education, he became an ophthalmologist, one who deals with the
eyes and the diseases associated with, but soon switched to general practice where he worked near a

Arthur Dimmesdale In The Scarlet Letter
According to Plautus, an ancient roman philosopher, Nothing is more wretched than a guilty
conscience . Throughout the course of The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial Hawthorne seems to further attest
to this idea by illustrating the effects of living under the weight of a guilty mind through the life of
Arthur Dimmesdale. Dimmesdale commits adultery, a crime that is usually punished by death, before
the novel even beings. Due to his high rank in the community, he decides to save his image and keep
this mistake a secret. By not coming forward with the other accused sinner to confess their crimes, he
is forced to live out the rest of his days followed by the shadow of his sin Due to the fact that his
underlying guilt gets progressively worse as each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chillingworth offers his help in diagnosing the bodily disease that has taken over Dimmesdale s
health, although he already suspects it is due to Dimmesdale s hidden sin. With this in mind,
Chillingworth constantly fills Dimmesdale s conscience with more feelings of guilt and self hate for
his own revenge. Chillingworth regularly questions Dimmesdale along the lines of, wouldst thou have
me to believe...that a false show can be better...than God s own truth? (129). Chillingworth plays a
defining factor in the deterioration of Dimmesdale s mind by blatantly pointing out Dimmesdale s
wrongdoings. With his mind being held hostage by his guilt, Dimmesdale s will to confess overpowers

One of such drugs is called Lamictal. It is used to treat epilepsy and it is also used for treating long

coordination problems, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting. A large portion of people also experience
drowsiness, coughing, sore throats, stomach pains, insomnia, tremors, back pain, fatigue, indigestion,
bronchitis, diarrhea, fever, constipation, chest pains and weight loss. A number of people experience
more serious side effects, like worsening of seizures, depression, bleeding, yellow eyes/skin, muscle
pain, different allergic reactions, rashes(a Lamictal rash can be a life threatening problem due to
infection) and in a number of people it can also lead to a suicide attempt. The last one is a severe
threat, a lot of people underestimate the degree of suicide attempts. In fact over 1.1 million Americans
attempt suicide every year, it s so bad, that 1 out of 14 Americans knows someone who committed
suicide last year. Woldwide the numbers are even worse, the number of suicide attempts jumps up to
an astonishing 10 20 million. To put this in terms easier to comprehend, that s the equivalent of the

How Does Pygmalion Change Throughout The Play
Pygmalion was a mythological character who liked to sculpture. He made a statue of his ideal woman
Galatea. The statue was so beautiful that he prayed to the gods it would be brung to life , his wish was
granted.
Have you ever had to learn how to speak fluently, in a brand new language that you are not used to ?
This is one of many problems for a flower girl Eliza Doolittle. In this story Professor Henry Higgins
makes a bet that he would get her to pass for a duchess at an ambassador s garden party by teaching
her to assume a veneer of gentility , the most important element of which, he thinks, is impeccable
speech. Throughout the play, many characters develop new problems and they all tie into each other.

first thing he does is welcomes her into her new home as she will be staying with him for 6 months to
see if she can actually change before she can make it to London to pose as the Queen. Next , she is
given a bath and starts to scream like she is being tortured, this is because she has never had to be
washed up because she lived in such a poor place before. Now , everyone around her must use proper
language all the time so that she will know to never break this habit of using slang and sounds to
speak with people. Eliza s father ; Alfred Doolittle now enters the play , the main reason is because he
wants to get money out of Mr.Higgins. He doesn t seem to care about his daughter s welfare , only
himself. He views himself as a member of the undeserving poor, and means to go on being
undeserving. With his intelligent mind and not having much of an education, he has an eccentric view
of life. He is also aggressive, and when Eliza, sticks her tongue out at him, he goes to hit her, but gets

Differences Of The Sioux And Chippewa Indian Tribes
The Sioux and Chippewa Indian tribes have a drastically different way of living compared to what
other people are accustomed to in terms of their history, food , and their roles in their tribes. The Sioux
Indians were originally from Asia, but migrated to America about 30,000 years ago. Their long,
straight jet black hair resembles that of the Asian descendants. The Sioux tribes were located in The
Great Plains, which consists of 7 different states Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota;
however, they were also known to live in parts of Nebraska, Illinois, and Montana. The name Sioux is
an abbreviation of Nadouessioux. (Britannica) The name was given to them by the Ojibwa

In supply chain management there is a million in one ways a company can approach its warehouses,
suppliers, and stores utilizing different strategies to ensure they are distributing the right amount of
merchandise. Failure to deliver the right amount of merchandise at the right time could lead to the
supply chain management losing tons of money over wrongly timed delivered items.
In my personnel opinion, I think that the United Parcel Service (UPS) is the best company for when it
comes to effectively competing in today s market. The United Parcel Service delivers almost
worldwide and its rates for shipping packages are very competitive. In the United States you can

Tylor s Conception Of Religion
In our society, religion is commonly held as a matter of belief. The religious believe, atheists do not
believe and agnostics are unsure what they believe. Is this way of conceptualises religion consistent
across religions, through cultures? And through time and space? Anthropologists have disagreed about
how to conceptualise religion since the founding of the discipline. Early accounts of religion tend to
centre on belief as being the most fundamental activity and characteristic of religion. Twentieth
century anthropologists, most notably Clifford Geertz, distanced themselves from the evolutionist
tendencies of earlier writers but continued to hold belief up as central to understanding religion.
However, many anthropologists have argued that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that diverse pssibilbeies and power dyanamics that are placed under the label of religion
must be explained as products of historically distinctive disciplines and forces, not as the result of
superimposed systems of belief, ritual, political power and other elements . Like Ruel before him,
Assad argues that the bias towards belief as a verbalizable inner condition for true religion comes from
the Christian Church. Assad argues that what Geertz and other call the religion , in a universal sense,
is closely connected to Modernity in Europe and the subsequent spread of this modernity to other parts
of the world. Geertz s notion of religious belief, which is central to his account of religion, is a modern
privatised Christian one because it prioritises belief as a physiological process rather than as
something embodied in practice. His analysis marks a shift away from a symbolic approach to a
poststructuralist one which is less concerned with interpreting symbols and more focused on power
and discipline and the way in which religious subjects are

While there is the potential of conversations being heard over cordless phones, what should be more
troubling is the potential for conversations being heard over the baby monitor. While a cordless phone
may capture only what can be transmitted through the mouth piece transmitter, a baby monitor has the
capability to capture sounds in larger areas. As phone systems became less reliant on land lines,
privacy issues have risen as to the expectations of privacy by law enforcement. Courts struggle with
the issue of cell phone conversations and the expectancy of privacy especially with the wireless

While much of the public has experienced or is aware of the potential of conversations being heard

Technology In The Short Story The Veldt
In the short story The Veldt technology is portrayed as something bad with the idea of the nursery. The
nursery was a virtual reality room that allowed the user to think of any place they wanted and the
room turned into that, basically you controlled with your mind. This idea was made in 1950 that the
invention of the television would ruin our touch to the world, or the touch of our family. This is a
negative impact of technology and although, the children wanted their parents dead for technology is a

The Effects Of E Cigarettes On The United States
E cigarettes have exploded onto the scene in the past three years. Whole stores dedicated to these
devices have opened their doors to the public and business is thriving. E cigarettes are battery charged
devices that have an atomizer, or heating element, in them to vaporize liquid nicotine. The user is able
to inhale this vapor and get the nicotine without the other 4,000 chemicals present in tobacco cigarette
smoke (Schroeder). Nicotine is a chemical that is produced by the tobacco plant. People have
discovered that by smoking the leaves of a tobacco plant the nicotine in the leaves is delivered into the
bloodstream. Nicotine by itself is not an awful drug as far as drugs go, although it is highly addictive,
it is the tar in cigarettes that does so much damage. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable
cause of death in the U.S. with 480,000 Americans dying prematurely from tobacco related disease.
Kicking this habit remains difficult for most (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Mark
Twain once wrote It s easy to quit smoking, I ve done it hundreds of times.
There have not been any new medications for help with smoking cessation within the last ten to

Aquaman Underrated Essay
Why Aquaman Is Underrated When someone asks who your favorite superhero is, Aquaman is not a
very common answer. But how much do they really know about him? All assumptions aside,
Aquaman is actually one of the most powerful DC Comic Book characters that exist. Although
Aquaman did not come around until the 1940s, the first newspaper comic strips started out in the 1890
(Harrison). A few nicknames given by people that do not appreciate the authenticity of Aquaman
include, The Prince of Tuna, the Aqualad from Atlantis, and the One Superhero I Could Probably Take
Down in a Fight (Borrelli). People may give Aquaman more credit if they knew more about his origin,
his super abilities, and his impressive achievements. When the original Aquaman was created, he was
born into an underwater society of people who were just like him. Aquaman was the only one of his
kind to have fine hair like a human, which was severely looked down upon. Because of this, as a child,
Aquaman was abandoned by his parents and left at a place called Mercy Reef to die. He was
discovered by a dolphin named Porm. This dolphin raised him until adolescence when he discovered a

The skeletal system is made up of cartilage and bone. Both bone and cartilage are connective tissues,
that is, they are composed of cells in a matrix with intracellular fibers. Just imagine connective tissue
as a gelatin salad with grapes and coconut. The grapes would represent cells, the gelatin the support
material for matrix, and the pieces of coconut the intracellular fibers. By changing the amounts of
each ingredient and adding extra substances, we can produce a material that is very hard like bone and
can withstand weight or softer like cartilage which can be used as a cushioning material. In this
exercise, we will examine a fresh raw chicken bone to study bone structure. Materials

Compact bone looks dense and solid, yet it is filled with passageways that serve as conduits for
nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatic vessels (Marieb, 181). When observing the spongy bone, I
noticed that it appeared dark and porous. It was flexible. The compact bone made up the majority of
the chicken leg and was difficult to pierce with the knife. The spongy bone had a dark gray/blackish
color.
2. How does cartilage differ from bone? How did each one feel when pierced with the knife? Cartilage
doesn t contain any nerves or blood vessels and is surrounded by a layer of dense irregular connective
tissue, the perichondrium (Marieb, 176). Bones contain various types of tissues which makes them
organs. They are used for support, protection, movement, mineral storage, and blood cell formation
(Marieb, 178 179). The cartilage was tough and flexible, and it was difficult to cut through. The bone,
however, when I finally was able to cut through it, had blood within it. This proves that bone is the site
for blood formation. The bone was more difficult to cut through than the cartilage.
3. How did the periosteum and endosteum differ in thickness? The periosteum seemed thicker because
it was more difficult to peel away from the chicken leg. The endosteum wasn t that difficult to pull
away from the spongy bone. So based on what I saw, I believe the periosteum is thicker than the
endosteum. 4. Was the bone

The crèche bodies are made from hemp and wire, the heads are molded out of terracotta with eyes
made of glass, and the hands and feet are carved out of wood. The artists would then use oil paints to
achieve the most realistic expressions and details on the figurines. The figures are flexible so they can
be positioned within the setting. Many of the figures in the crèche wear their original silk garments
made in the royal silk factory in San Leucio. The painstaking details of the costumes are constructed
of luxurious, rich fabrics such as damasks, silks, linens, and laces. One could tell the peasant figures
because they wore simple clothes and had bare feet or sandals. They are wearing muted dirty looking
clothing, but quite possibly even made out of paper. The wealthy and nobility wore regal royal colored
robes, leather shoes and perhaps even a turban or headwear. Their costumes were quilted, embroidered
using gold or silver thread, embellished with silk ribbons, and tiny colored glass beads. Some women
were clothed in lace petticoats, elaborate bustles, and silk lined dresses with metallic lace over skirt.

Comparing Two Picture Analysis
Introduction When we look at carefully at any work of art we notice that it shows an expression of
creativity, intelligence and originality. In reality, creativity is the fruit of a sort of communication
between our thought and our heart. Then the shape appears in our mind and we start producing the
object. After looking at the two pictures carefully, I can compare and show the contrast of them. By
comparison I consider that the two objects are beautiful works of art. The people who created them are
all very skilled in art. The shapes are well elaborated. They are really excellent works of art. The

Summary Of A Thousand Splendid Suns
AN ANALYSIS OF THE NOVEL A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS
The opening of the novel sets the books foundation for the book s more macrocosmic themes.Nana
refers to Mariam as HARAMI i.e illegitimate child in order to suggest that Mariam s birth was the
consequence of an extra marital affair. The term HARAMI makes her upbringing as one that is
illegitimate,a reference that ,Mariam herself makes in the later chapter. On the opposite side ,Jalil
appears as the standard for legitimacy according to society.Yet,once he lets Mariam down and
subsequently rejects her presence at his home, his legitimacy as a father is called in to question. In
addition ,Jalil s relationship to Nana and Mariam displays his shame of his second family. On the other
hand Nana s emphasis on Mariam learning to endure suffering not only suggest how bleak Mariam s
future will be ,but also the type of lessons Mariam must have learned as a child in Nana s
home.Ultimately throughout the rest of the novel ,Mariam s capacity for endurance is what allows her
to survive horrible circumstances.Mariam s trip to herat which culminates Nana s suicide.once she
attempts to reach Jalil ,she is exposed to the truth about his consideration for her as an outsider to his
life. After her mother s death the simplicity of her life in Kolba ends ,and she is thrust in to

In continuation, another theme within Jack Kerouac s wonderful book is madness. Sals hero, Dean
Moriarty, is the ideal representation of this theme. Throughout the story, Sal witnesses the evolution of
madness in Dean. Sal later on concludes that Deans criminal past may be the root of his downfall. An
example of madness is when Sal was on the road with Dean and Mary Lou. Deans decides to make a
quick stop and go get some more cigarettes for the road. After buying the cigarettes Sal notes that
Dean had become absolutely mad in his movements; he seemed to be doing everything at the same
time. It was a shaking of the head up and down, sideways; Jerky, vigorous hands, quick walking,
sitting, crossing the legs, uncrossing, getting up, rubbing the hands, rubbing his fly, hitching his pants
etc... (Kerouac 105). Sal had realized that Deans madness had caused his body to be in need for
constant motion. No sane person becomes mad in their movement and random times of the day like
Dean does. Another instance of madness, is whenever Dean would laugh. To Sal, his laugh sounded
like the laugh of a radio maniac, only faster and more like a titter (Kerouac 105). Usually in movies,
whenever someone laughs maniacal, it is received as a sign of evil or madness. Since Dean possess
this type of laugh it is only led to assume that Dean has some madness within him. Thirdly, friendship
also is an ongoing theme. During Sal s three year long journey he is at constant battle with

Greece is also famous for its great philosophers, like Socrates and Plato, who developed many
theoretical issues, which are relevant even today. Darius the First is considered a consolidator of the

the unsuccessful wars with Greece had a significantly negative impact on the further process of the

difficult for them to extract all the information they could from him because of two reasons. The first
reason is because he did not want to reveal personal information about where they live because he was
afraid that the US army would go over there and kill all of his family and friends. And the last reason
why it took so long to extract information from him is because Cinque wasn t much of a talk guy. HE

Two Situations on How Calculus Is Used in Daily Life
There are actually two situations on how calculus is used in daily life. One of them is in term of one is
in term of concept, while the other one is in term of practicality. Concepts used of calculus usually
used in daily life of humans but rather they did not aware about it. Practicality is when the calculus is
used to solve a problem in human life but mainly not about every humans life. Concepts used of
calculus. Happen without one notice that they are actually applied it when they do some works. One
example in term of concepts is the application of limit. Limit is needed when finding the closest value
when the value of derivative of x is set to stay within the boundaries when the value is approaching
the value that have been set.[2] Simpler sentence that define limit is that limit help us to find a finite
value in a seemingly infinite journey of precision.[2] For example, you are driving a car in a nice
weather as you approaching a stop sign.[2] Slowly, you begin pressing the brake and the acceleration
of the car decreasing by time as you notice that the speedometer going down and the car is slowing as
well.[2] As closer to the stop sign, definitely you will try to adjust so your speed is falling to make
sure that you will stop at the right spot.[2] You will slowing down to a point that it is very difficult to
see if your speed is still slowing down.[2] Theoretically, you would keep approaching the stop forever

The Godfather Conflict
This quote highlights the basis half of the plot and conflicts of the The Godfather, and half of what led
to it becoming the American classic it is. From 1972, this inspirational film explores a highly
romanticized version of the Italian mafioso culture. With most of the plot being split into either family,
business, or the conflicts when they overlap. this drama has to dig deep to hook onto emotions that we
can relate to. Based on Mario Puzo s novel, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and acted by both
experts and amateurs alike, The Godfather was produced masterfully. While we may not be able to
identify with the overall business side of the story, we are able to do so with the half closer to home.
The exceptional usage of the three hours allows this film to not seem rushed while having us hang
onto every word. Personally, the part of the film that really sold this as one of my top movies was the
dual family/business nature of the most of the plot as well as how Michael compared to Vito in being
the Godfather.. The striking juxtaposition induces at least a few questions about how a character may

The Corleones steadily became more violent over the course of The Godfather, but this can be
attributed to the fact that the threat against their family is increasing. On the other hand, the moment
Vito is out of the picture, Michael offers to murder the family s enemies for revenge. Even when
Sonny is brutally peppered by bullets from a dozen Barzini buttonmen, Vito offers a ceasefire
opportunity. Michael simply had them all assassinated because it would be easier and more efficient
overall. We see here that the father son morality split is why this movie is such an inspiration and a
model for power struggles in general. The independent leadership styles of the latest Godfather make
it very clear that like father, like son can be staggeringly wrong at

Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners
Bria LeeAnn Coleman
ENG 299
Dr. Mark Facknitz
October 12, 2015
Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience revelations in their every
day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam Webster defines an epiphany as an
illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. While word epiphany has a religious connotation,
these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of
reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand their
circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back to their
lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the reason they
lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw
as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but
often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their situations, because of
this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level, showing the reader that the story s
character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is
the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity
to the Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this

unconscious mind is less narrow sighted and provides a description, archetypes, that account for the
universality of many common mental issues. Conversely, Freud believed that every individual was on

determined the rest of your life. Freud s theory puts everyone on their separate iceberg floating about

Concussions In High School Football
Our society would not be what it is today without the world of sports. In the United States, football
has become an essential part of Sunday plans to over 250 million people. While numerous people of
all ages watch the sport, many people play it as well. This includes over one million high schoolers
who participate in the sport at their schools. For many, football games are some of the most
memorable high school moments. However, football isn t all about the fans and school spirit; the
players themselves face enormous risks just by stepping out on the field. Concussions and other health
concerns have become more common than ever in football, especially with the youth. A concussion is
a traumatic brain injury, and in sports, they are usually caused by an impact or blow to the head. These
injuries leave a lasting impact and can greatly impact one s life. High school football is too dangerous
in today s world due to the extensive and life threatening injuries that commonly occur in the sport.
First and foremost, kids and teens are prone to getting concussions, and they can result in some short
term effects. For example, they are the most notable injury found in young athletes. Out of kids 18 and
under, about 1.1 1.9 million sports related concussions occur every year in the United States alone
(Yang). In addition, there may be some symptoms that occur directly after the incident takes place.
This includes headaches, blurred vision, and nausea. It is also common for a collision to occur and the
athlete remain conscious during the event (CDC). Similarly, there are some different symptoms that
tend to show up shortly after the injury. If someone faces excessive fatigue, sensitivity to light, and
changes in sleep patterns, then there s a possibility that they have suffered from a concussion
(Injuries). Although these short term effects can impact a person s daily life for a little while, the long
term effects are detrimental. Consequently, concussions can cause life changing alterations further on
in time. The real danger lies in repetitive concussions and returning before it has fully healed.
According to Jingzhen Yang, Untreated or improperly managed concussions can increase the risk of

This fact alone has made them one of the most popular counter types in high end homes as well as on
home improvement TV shows and magazines. Associated with elegance and sophistication, granite
countertops carry a certain stigma of glamour with them.Heat resistant Since granite is formed from
extreme heat underneath the earth, it is not affected by the heat of a hot pan. Studies have even shown
that lighting a fire directly underneath granite does not cause it to melt. However, it should be noted
that professionals still recommend using something between the countertop and anything hot.Scratch
resistant Granite is one of the most scratch resistant materials. Those that have tested the resistance of
granite countertops to scratches have found that the counter actually dulled their carving knife. It is
always recommended to use a cutting board when cutting on granite.Adds resale value to your home
Because of the long lasting nature of granite as well as its natural beauty, granite countertops adds a
touch of sophistication for your home, allowing you to ask more for it than comparables in your

Similarities Between Modernism And Transcendentalism
In the 19th century, transcendentalism a religious and philosophical movement that developed during
the late 1820s and 30s as a protest against the general state of spirituality and, in particular, the state of
intellectualism was most ubiquitous. As time moved into the late 19th century and early 20th century,
the transcentalistic time period evolved into the realism and modernism a philosophical movement
that, along with cultural trends and changes, arose from wide scale and far reaching transformations
time period. Along with the shift of time periods, art started to change as well. Modernist s art were
more abstract and expressed the issues that were occurring; in contrast, transcendentalists art focused
on nature and staying to oneself. modernism is chaotic while transcendentalism is idyllic. This switch
from transcendentalism to modernism occurred due to scientific innovation, industrialization, and the
world war 1 which transitioned idyllic literature to despair, bleak and abject feelings in literature and
poetry. Scientific innovation, a newly introduced idea that everything has to be proven by science in
order to be accurate , begun heading into the 20th century. Science led to confusion, uncertainty and
unrest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

These contaminations of the areas were discovered in 1981. The public wells draws water from Olean
creek, and they were constructed in the 1970s to relieve the situation of water shortage for a surface
water treatment plant. However, excessive leaves of trichloroethylene (TCE) were discovered in
public wells in late 1980, and so the use of the wells was discontinued. Some suspected
contaminations have been identified. After a supplemental RI/FS study to investigated thirteen
properties for the presence of contamination at four of the properties as the main sources of VOC and
TCE contamination to the former Loohn s Dry cleans.
Site history
There have three public water supply wells were constructed in the late 1970s to provide water for the
city of Olean, New York. In 1981, these wells were found to contain trichloroethylene (TCE) and
other chlorinated organic solvents at concentrations exceeding federal maximum contaminant levers
(MCLs). As a result, these wells were closed. Then the site was included on the National Interim
priorities list on the first NPL on September 9, 1983. Between 1981 and 1985, some separate federal ,
state and PRP led investigations were conducted to find the sources of the contamination to the ground
water and evaluate the nature and extent of groundwater contamination at the site.
On September 24, 1985, the first operable unit ROD for the site issued by the EPA was documented.

Renewable Energy Sources In The United States
The United States of America is large user of fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal, and other fuels to
fuel things like cars, machines, fireplaces, and more. The US has considered using alternative energy
sources, such as solar panels, to power their devices. Some people believe that we should keep using
fossil fuels because they cost less.
Renewable energy sources are good for the environment but some people frown upon the idea of
having renewable energy sources. They are more expensive than fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy
sources. A Lot of energy needs to be put in both the research and manufacturing of nonrenewable
resources. Renewable energy sources are cheaper because of the energy source already having the

Five Paragraph Essay On Night By Elie Wiesel
A cry pierces the night air. You look around in fear as you hear a woman s screams, Fire! I can see a
fire! I can see a fire! (22). There is nothing there. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. There was no
way you could ever have known what was to come. The morning never came and you suddenly you
could see the flames everywhere. No one anticipated the monstrosity that would become known as the
Holocaust. Elie Wiesel certainly didn t see it coming. He was one of the many Jewish people sent to
concentration camps. Ten years after the end of World War 2 Elie decided to sit down and write his
memoir, entitled Night, about the time he spent there. It is a brutally honest look at the Holocaust.
Throughout the book there is a repeated mantra of fire. He describes the fire and smoke with vivid
detail. If you look close enough you begin to see the deeper meaning of the fire. In Night, Elie Wiesel
uses the mantra of fire to explain the terror and closeness of death that the prisoners are in constant
fear of during the Holocaust. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw
turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky. (120). The quote above is taken from a
description of Elie s first night in Auschwitz, a concentration camp in Poland. Once Elie arrives at the
camp he sees the smoke from the crematorium for the first time. The deaths of so many innocent
people occured in that death factory. Everyone around him at the camp is afraid of the dreaded place,
for it means certain death to all those who enter. This threat hangs over Elie and his companions at all

  • 2. Analysis Of The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel Have people ever thought of why human rights can t be equalized for everyone in the world? One victim that experienced his rights being violated was a Jewish boy in 1944 during the time that Hitler took over many peoples dreams and hopes including their own lives. Many deaths could have been prevented if people didn t choose to be bystanders. Human rights are not possible to actualized for every person in the universe. Many people choose to be ignorant of serious issues and don t care what happens around them. This ignorance of people causes major problems that affects everyone in some way, but people can t actualize rights for everyone if they decide to ignore social issues as if it was their duty. I wanted to come back to warn you (The Night 7). This shows how many humans fight for other people s rights. This shows how there are a big amount of people who care not just for themselves but for others. This evidence shows how people have sympathy for others. This reveals how there are people that do stand up for what s right to make the world a better place to live in. This evidence reveals how there is always hope for justice to happen if everyone fights for what s right. This reveals that people give hope to other who don t stand up for their own rights. This is important because it shows how people care for others well being and health. However, the evidence shows that human rights cannot be actualized for everyone because many people choose to avoid people s rights getting violated because it easier to do. The author clearly announces in his speech, It is so much easier to look away from victims. It is so much easier to avoid such rude interruptions to our work, our dreams, our hopes (Wiesel 28 29). This evidence shows how people choose to avoid the problems around them and don t do anything to improve those issues. This reveals that people avoid problems to not be part of unfair actions that are being done. This is important because it shows how ignorant people are toward others and how ignorance ... Zusak s novel is about a young girl, named Liesel Meminger, who after losing her brother was given away by her mother to a couple from Mochling, Germany, named Hans and Rosa Hubermann. (Zusak 242) Now the reader anticipates a near death for this young character. The next instance of foreshadowing is not related to death, and gives away no more than a slice of what is about to come in the story. After the protagonist makes her first steal at the graveyard of her brother, when she steals: The Gravediggers Handbook, Death tells us the future of Liesel s stealing career with books. Liesel owned fourteen books, of the ten most prominent, ...six were stolen, one showed up at the kitchen table, two were made for her by a hidden Jew, and one was delivered by a soft, yellow dressed afternoon. (Zusak 30) From this we gather not only that Liesel continued a illustrious career of stealing, but also that her life entailed a hidden Jew. A third occurrence of foreshadowing in this novel is a discrete example of this device. After a stock character, named Frau Holtzapfel, spits on the door of the Hubermans, Death remarks, Both [of her sons] were in the army and both will make cameo appearances by the time we re finished here, I assure you. (Zusak 44) This hint at the future of the book is a preparation of what is to come for these characters, and if caught, is very important. While these foreshadowings may be hard to catch on to, they can give away essential information to the story. Irony is third and final literary device the reader finds to enhance the story. A brass block was placed at the top of different ramps made of rubber, wood, sandpaper, and Teflon. Once the angle of the ramp was raised high enough the block began to slip, the angle at this point was measured. Static friction reaches a maximum at the slip angle, thus allowing the block to slip. Vector components, Newton s second law, and the equation fs= Âľsn, can be used to derive the equation Âľs = tan(Ɵ); the static coefficient of friction equals tan(Ɵ) of the slip angle. Cartilage doesn t contain any nerves or blood vessels and is surrounded by a layer of dense irregular connective tissue, the perichondrium (Marieb, 176). Bones contain various types of tissues which makes them organs. They are used for support, protection, movement, mineral storage, and blood cell formation (Marieb, 178 179). From 1972, this inspirational film explores a highly romanticized version of the Italian mafioso culture. With most of the plot being split into either family, business, or the conflicts when they overlap. this drama has to dig deep to hook onto emotions that we can relate to. Based on Mario Puzo s novel, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, and acted by both experts and amateurs alike, The Godfather was produced masterfully. While we may not be able to identify with the overall business side of the story, we are able to do so with the half closer to home. The exceptional usage of the three hours allows this film to not seem rushed while having us hang onto every word. • 34. Analysis Of James Joyce s Dubliners Dubliners Bria LeeAnn Coleman ENG 299 Dr. Mark Facknitz October 12, 2015 Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience revelations in their every day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam Webster defines an epiphany as an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. While word epiphany has a religious connotation, these epiphanies characters in Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of reform that epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations, characters go back to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see their situation fully, which is the reason they lacked reaching their full potential. Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all Dubliners. In each story, he gave each individual the possibility of an epiphany, but often the characters failed to break through and see their ability to change their situations, because of this, some of these epiphanies occur only on the narrative level, showing the reader that the story s character missed their epiphany. In fact, in The Dead , the scene is set on/around January 6th, which is the Feast of the Epiphany. The Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the manifestation of Christ s divinity to the Magi. The Dead is also Joyce s last chance to make clarity of an epiphany. Will this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
