The Law Enforcement Is Cracking Down Harder Than A Little...
These days, it seems like almost everyone you know is getting caught behind the wheel with a little
too much spirit. Law enforcement is cracking down harder than ever on drunk driving, to the point
where even one beverage could get you into big trouble!
So, what exactly are the stats? In 2012, in Arizona alone, there were 32,174 DUI arrests. In 2013,
the number was 31,892. And in 2014, there were 28,471 DUI arrests. While the numbers are
somewhat decreasing, they are still very high. (For more on these statistics see: DUI Arrests Down
for 3rd Year on Arizona Highways ).
The consequences of a DUI, driving under the influence, (also known as a DWI, driving while
impaired) are harsh. Below are the DUI Dos and Don ts you need to know in case you get behind
the wheel after drinking, get pulled over, and/or find yourself facing DUI charges:
DO know the amount of tolerable blood alcohol content (BAC) for you. If you are under 21, there
is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy. No alcohol whatsoever is acceptable. If you are 21 or older, you
are permitted to drive with a BAC of .08%. If you are a commercial driver with a commercial
license, a BAC of .04% is allowed.
DO know the consequences if you refuse a chemical test. Arizona has an IMPLIED CONSENT
LAW. This means that if you are pulled over and refuse to submit to a chemical test, you will
automatically be subject to a fine and suspension of your license anywhere from one to two years.
DON T argue with the officer if he/she requests

Does Political Journalism Affect The Uk Adequately Serve...
Does political journalism in the UK adequately serve the needs of a democratic political system?
The newspapers in the United Kingdom tend to take a partisan line in their reporting. According to
Michael Schudson (2001,165) the concept that a journalist should be objective is relatively new
and cannot be applied identically to all countries and contexts. 24, mass media politics ) He argues
that the need to be objective as a journalist is felt more strongly in the UK than in countries such
as Germany or China. There is an obvious distinction between what each citizen would choose to
read about. The middle class and business sector have a preference for the free market policies
such as privitisation, disposal of the welfare state, trade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An article written in The Sun, with the headline If Kinnock wins today will the last person to
leave Britain please turn out the lights? has been thought of as contribution to the Conservative
win in 1992 general election. The Sun, itself ran a headline announcing John Major s victory,
stating it was the Sun wot won it. This was repeated by The Sun in 2015 general election, using a
photograph of Ed Milliband struggling to eat a bacon sandwich, with the headline don t swallow
his porkies and keep him out. (mmpd)
News Corporation accounted for six popular national newspapers in the UK. This level of
ownership impacts the variety of ideas and values that can circulate. Concentration of media
ownership threatens democracy in political journalism(Baker, 2007), leading to over representation
of political viewpoints, values that are favoured by media owners. There is a negative correlation
between media domination and levels of pluralism which is needed in society, to sustain
representation. The concentration of media ownership leads to less competing suppliers, thus
leaving a gap in a democratic political system. Due to Rupert Murdoch s large media empire, it
has been said that he has wielded political power through his influence over headlines. It could be
interpreted this way when considering the support given by News Corporation owned newspapers,
to Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s and Tony Blairin 1997. The impact of Rupert Murdoch can also

A Family on the Move in The Glass Castle by Jeannette Wals
The Glass Castle is about a very poor family that constantly moves from place to place just to
seemingly stay alive. The book addresses the many social issues that we deal with every day.
One of the most important social issues disputed on a daily basis are the kind of parents we want
to be and what we want to teach our children for their future. In this memoir we are able to see
how Rex and Rosemary Walls teach their children the values of everyday life. The parents try to
teach their children that whatever life throws at you, you can handle it with resilience. The parents
accomplished the goals for their children by telling them that they loved them and to never give up.
The Walls children gained exceptional values that may not have been learned had these children
grown up with different parents. Both parents in the Glass Castleultimately help Jeannette and the
rest of her familybecome the people they are today, and would not have been able to accomplish this
without the parents. Jeannette Wallsis the main character in the Glass Castle. She begins to have
faith in her father that he will keep his promises. Early in the memoir her father teaches her a life
lesson to always face your fears no matter how tough they may seem. In his words ... but you can
t cling to the side your whole life, that one lesson every parent needs to teach a child is If you don
t want to sink, you better figure out how to swim... (66).

Essay about Performance Appraisal
Performance Appraisal
Appropriate Approach for Performance Appraisal
Kudler Foods deals with the supply of both domestic and imported foods. The food store
comprise of five departments with specialized classification of skills and competencies. In order to
develop and meet the major requirements of an organisation, managers should design an
assessment form designed to evaluate employee s performance regarding their level of
understanding and the quality of their work. According to Cromwell Kolb (2004, p. 71 100) an
annual performance appraisal is a management system that enables managers to set management
objectives, processes and practices that ensure effective management, motivation and development
of every member of the team. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Appraisals are conducted in order to fulfill their obligation, some others do it to fill a report in
their file but the successful organisations understand the benefits of appraisals which are to
strategically manage performance of employees. The process provides a record of individual
performance recorded over a given period of time. The process gives every one an opportunity to
reflect on future development and how to meet one s expectations. The output of the performance
appraisal helps the supervisor in determining salary increases and gives an opportunity to focus on
future goals through identifying the underlying issues and correcting them to attain better results in
the future which benefits both the employee and the organization (Sanchez Levine, 2009, p. 53).
The job based approach involves analyzing performance through the descriptions of employee
skills. This shows the effectiveness of performance of various duties and the analysis is used in
developing a compensation package. The person based approach on the other hand analyses the
skills and competencies of individual employee. The compensation package therefore depends on
the level of skills that employees possess. In this case I think that the best method for Kudler
Foods to use in performance appraisal and in determining compensation package will be the job
based method which analyses the various

The Chinese Stock Market
The Chinese stock market is celebrating its 25th anniversary later this year, and its first 25 years
have been a fairly consistent story. There has been a history of large, government driven rallies,
followed by dramatic sell offs that have left many investors angry. As of August 2, 2015, stocks
are down 29% from their peak in June 2015. The current bear market defined as a fall of 20% or
more from a peak is the 27th that investors have suffered in the past 25 years. It is the 21st worst
in terms of losses . The government has intervened heavily during this most recent bear market,
and although the intervention created some short term relief, in the long term the heavy
intervention is setting China up for future trouble. Since opening up its market to foreign trade
and free market returns in 1979, China has been one of the fastest growing economies, with
GDP growth averaging nearly 10% through 2014. China is a major global economic leader, and
is the world s largest economy (purchasing power), manufacturer, merchandise trader, and holder
of foreign exchange reserves . The economic financial crisis in 2008 had a large impact on China
s economy. Growth slowed, exports declined, and millions lost jobs. The government implemented
a $586 billion economic stimulus package, and loosened monetary policies. The stimulus package
helped the decreased demand for Chinese products, but the economy has still slowed in recent
years since the crisis of 2008. Real GDP fell from

Duality In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight pagan and Christian symbols are scattered throughout the
poem. The cultural duality is represented through characters and objects in the poem. The duality
is a result of a shift from pagan to Christian religion at the time. The holly and the oak, Sir
Bertilak and the Green Knight, and Sir Gawain s shield are some of the ways cultural duality are
illustrated in the poem. The holly and the oak in the poem have culture significance in both pagan
and Christian cultures. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the poet observes, But in one hand he
carried a holly branch/ Into a dense forest, wondrously wild:/ Of massive grey oaks, hundreds
growing together:/ (206,741,743). In pagan culture the holly represents the waning year when
summer starts to turn to fall and winter, while the oak represents the waxing year when winter
turns to spring and summer. The oak is a symbol of the wild... Show more content on

In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the poet describes the shield: With the pentangle painted on it
in pure gold./ That the mild Queen of Heaven found in her child./ Her image depicted on the inside
of his shield, (620,647,649). The pentangle, five pointed star, that is on the front of Sir Gawain s
shield is a symbol commonly associated with pagan culture. The Pythagoreans used it to represent
perfection, the Sumerians used it to represent the five known planets, to the Greeks it represents the
goddess of the underworld. There are many other cultures that use that pentagram to represent
aspects of their culture. The pentagram is representing the pagan culture while the Queen of
Heaven on the inside of the shield represents the Christian culture. The queen of heaven is another
name for the Virgin Mary. Mary is on the back of the shield with the pentagram on the front. The
shield is a perfect representation of the cultural duality because it has both pagan and Christian

Religious And Spiritual Aspects Of Human Service Practice
In this paper, I will be writing about spirituality and religion. I will be referring to the textbook
called, Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F.
Ellen Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting
concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human
service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical
practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the
United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services
professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with
one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior
to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious
traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a
more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious
traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for
people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults in
attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is
increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define

At Risk Students
At risk students are students who are at risk of not completing high school. Students who
consistently perform below expected academic standards are regarded as at risk (Ng Wong,
2013). Dropping out of high school is a complex social problem for which no simple solution
exists. While the most obvious characteristic of at riskstudents is academic underachievement, there
is solid evidence for using other characteristics to assist in identifying these children.
Next to academic achievement, the rate of school attendance showed the strongest relationship to
dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Failure to complete homework, follow school rules,
follow civil law, and lack of participation in activities, were all signs of disengagement, ... Show

Some low income parents do not have the confidence in their own ability to help their children,
especially when more advanced concepts are introduced during middle and high school (Marchetti,
Wilson, Dunham, 2016). Finally, low income parents may not have the resources to hire tutors or
extra help to assist with homework (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). At risk students may find it
challenging to draw upon their personal strengths to muster adaptive responses to academic
setbacks (Caleon, Wui, Chiam, King, Tan, Tan, 2016). These barriers listed are more the reason
why when a student does try, it should be reviewed as a strength. As at risk students, must
overcome more challenges to even do what is viewed as minimal effort.
Perhaps no single event in the adolescent life course more strongly determines later social and
economic success than dropping out of school (Ludwig Shah, 2014). Risk factors for dropping out
of school exist in all life domains with the likelihood of a student dropping out of school increasing
as these risk factors accumulate (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). However, most of the research
on at risk students and dropping out has focused on the characteristics of individuals rather than on
the services available at schools or the local community (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson,

Trend Micro Case Analysis
In the last past years, Trend Micro experienced a huge economic growth, especially in Mexico s
region. But, before 2012 there was an impacting declination in growth, in 2012 it was expected a
growth of 41,4% in 2014. As can be seen in the fishbone diagram, one of the reasons was because
the companies they bought didn t have the economic effect they expected, and their products were
not efficient for Trend Micro. Moreover, solutions were obsolete and were only able to solve old
problems rather than new ones. This problem can also be applied on employees as they resisted to
the changes, which were a must for the company, and were only prepared to solve old problems
rather than new ones. Not only they were obligated changethe organization and... Show more

relevant topic for the client. Therefore, this was a inmense issue to solve for Trend Micro
because as mentioned before, the technology world changes every day and employees must be
able to adapt to this changes in order to succeed and for the company to grow. Furthermore,
although financially they were fine, there was no growth of the expected on a technological

ones considered them anymore and stop buying them. What is more, there were issues with moral
values, people started to quit because they didn t see a potential growth. If some competitors were
in decline, as can be seen in the SWOT analysis, there were new small competitors that found a
niche in the market with solutions that Trend Micro did not provide and started taking over their
sells as started producing better products. However, some competitors such as McAfee was

Along the coast of Maryland, just inside the state lines of Virginia lies the Quantico Naval Base,
home to a fictional investigative team lead by the unpredictable Leroy Jethro Gibbs. The ever
popular television show, NCIS, focuses on solving crimes with naval victims. These crimes have
one thing in common: violence. In 2005, some workers at Quantico find a meat puzzle (C.
Schulenburg 9) hidden within barrels of toxic material. During this episode the viewer is able to
see a massacred body, sliced into many pieces, displayed on multiple tables in the NCIS morgue

Torr 64). After near exhaustion of the criminal theme, medical dramas began to dip their toes into
the pool of television programming. The seemingly chaotic kindling of crime on television sent the
content of programming into a regrettable downward spiral of quality. The same old violence
was no longer as entertaining, which caused networks to increase the magnitude of the violence
on their shows (J. Torr 66) in order to continue engaging viewers. This progression has brought
programming to where it lies now: in trouble. The effects and solutions to the violence displayed
on television are important due to the ever increasing viewer base of certain types of
programming. Through a sundry of studies, spanning many years, from several sources, comes the
debate on just what all this violence displayed for anyone and everyone to see is doing to the
viewers and how we can solve it.
Desensitization is a very insidious process which leads one to a greater acceptance of violence
with less sympathy for those who become victim to the violent acts (Television Violence).
Researchers Comstock and Paik believe there are four areas that decide if what is being watched
will affect the viewer (J. Osofsky 82). The first of these four and the one of the reasons that
society is starting to accept violence is efficacy. Efficacy relates to whether the violence on the
screen is rewarded or punished, (J. Osofsky 83). There is almost no punishment seen in programs

Lords of War Simulation
The Lords of War Simulation is best described by the neo liberalist theory. Neo liberalism best
describes this game because it supports the ideology that everything humans do is in their own
self interest. The theory also believes that people only cooperate with each other out of fear;
actions of people playing Lords of War validate this theory. To succeed, neo liberals need
cooperation, institutions to mediate, as well as a fear of being defected on. Neo liberals do not
feel that humans are good in nature, but will argue that they have the capacity to bond together for
the greater good, for their own personal benefit.

Other theorists would try and say that in the Lords of War simulation, people were only going to
do what would make them the most powerful, and realist would say that all of the participants
would have defected even with the institutions; and even though some people still defected, the
majority did cooperated. Realists would also say that a security dilemma would have occurred,
and people would have tried to make allies to only help themselves, whereas people cooperated
out of fear of losing trust, thus making them an opponent to be defected on consistently.
Constructivists would argue that people shared a sense of identity and norms, but this game
proved that there was no collective identity or norms to be shared. People just played the game in
accordance to their own wants, needs and personal beliefs. And the liberals would argue that
people are genuinely good and will come together to act in the best nature for all. This game has
proven that the intent and nature of humans is not genuinely good, and people do not cooperate

Kurt Vonnegut as Social Critic Essay
Kurt Vonnegut as Social Critic
Those who write on the human condition are often philosophers who write with convoluted
language that few can understand. Kurt Vonnegut, however, focuses on the same questions, and
provides his own personal answers with as much depth as that of the must educated philosopher. He
avoids stilted language typical of philosophers, using shorter sentences, less complex vocabulary,
humorous tangents, and outrageous stories to get his point across. With this style, Vonnegut
presents the age old question How do we as humans live in this world? in a manner appealing and
understandable to the less educated mass. When offering advice to writers on how to write,
Vonnegut said, Our audience requires us... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Timequake, Vonnegut calls World War II civilization s second unsuccessful attempt to
commit suicide (11). In his novel, Galapagos, he creates a war that ends life on Earth with the
exception of a few who escape on a cruise ship headed for the Galapagos Islands. He points out
the ability man currently has to end our existence on this planet. In Timequake, Vonnegut said, I
had to add, though, that I knew a single word that proved our democratic government was
capable of committing obscene, gleefully rabid and racist, yahooistic murders of unarmed men,
women, and children, murders wholly devoid of military common sense. I said the word. It was
a foreign word. That word was Nagasaki (196). Although nobody truly deserves to die because of
war, the dropping of the second atomic bomb killed civilians who had done nothing to deserve
their fate. America had already proved it had the power to destroy large masses of humans, yet
out of cruelty, decided to drop the second a couple of days later. Vonnegut said, the people in a
country called Germany were so full of bad chemicals for a while that they actually built factories
whose only purpose was to kill people by the millions. The people were delivered by railroad train
(Breakfast of Champions, p.137). War is hate.

Changing Color In Sea Horses
How have sea horses adapted better to survive in their habitat? Sea horses use camouflage, get
food by the currents of the water, and use bone plates to protect them instead of scales. They are
often hard to find and they have to have a good way to hide because they can t get away fast enough.
The way sea horse s camouflage is by changing colors. Sea horses often do this because they are

colors to camouflage themselves, and feature bumps called tubercles (say: TOO bur kullz) that

Every year more than 90 people die in a traffic related accident each year in the united states.
Even though this country is on the lower end of death rate due to traffic accidents in the world,
it is still too high for anyone s liking. I m here to propose to you some methods to lower the
annual traffic fatalities. Many accidents are caused by high risk drivers. A high risk driver is
someone who insurance companies feel are likely to lose them money, due to traffic violations
such as getting in a crash while not wearing seatbelts. Though accidents that become fatal due to
lack of seatbelt can also be caused by the passengers. It is estimated that if everyone wore seatbelts,

[Turn on Car and demonstrate]. This, however, only happens for the driver. If we were to make
the alarm go off for every seat and not able to be turned off until after everyone is buckled, it
would motivate people to use their seatbelts. Another possibility would be to install ignition
interlocks, making it impossible to start the car until everyone is buckled. Another way to
increase seatbelt usage would be to increase the police enforcement, specifically during the night.
Surveys have shown that seatbelt usage is 5 10% lower at night. If there is more enforcement
during the night, not only would people not wearing seatbelts be caught more often, but it would
increase the likelihood that someone else would wear their seatbelts as they wouldn t want to get
fined. This was utilized in North Carolina during and experimental time frame in 2007, and
increased the usage by 10%. Finally we have this, this is a feedback sign. Currently found in

Unjust Vs Reverse Discrimination
Life is full of laws, unjust and just. But what makes a law unjust? Is it just discrimination or, could
it be more. People have always been treated differently depending on race, whether you know it or
not there has always been discrimination in our society. We have laws and business practices that
supports discriminationknown and unknown, these laws that unjust laws are practiced on a daily
basis. One way to define an unjust law is one that shows favor to group or another. A philosopher
named Robert k. Fullenwider believes the only way to fix this is not by making new laws in order
to reverse the damage that has been done. On the other hand martin Luther king Jr believes that we
need laws in order to right the wrongs unjust laws of the past.... Show more content on

Fullenwider saw it in another way, in order to fix unjust laws to get rid of all unjust laws. He
started by saying, the way to end discrimination is to not discriminate in reverse but to stop
discrimination. (pg. 271) we are not going to be able to fix a problem by making laws in reverse
to what has already been done. We need to put an end to it all together. By making reverse
discrimination we are not making thing better, we are just sweeping the issue under the rug so
to speak. When we reverse discrimination we just force people to meet a quota . In his paper he
points out that, a company policy not itself is designed to keep blacks out nevertheless, does
exactly that. (pg. 272) Companies do not have policies that say no black allowed. They have
requirements in place that in a roundabout way keeps blacks from getting the job. Some black
person could have had the job if they had the education or recommendations to get the job.
Companies have rules were they know blacks can t meet the requirements because of the way
that our society is set up. To fix discrimination is not about what is seen or what is known
Fullenwider points out that, it is about the nature and sweep of discrimination (pg. 272) if you
only work on a surface level you will only get a surface result. In order to move on from such an
ingrained problem like discrimination you need to get rid of it in all forms. You can t reverse what
has already been done but you can put an end to it cold turkey , stop it in its tracks. One thing that
is being overlooked is that our country was not made for blacks to live happily. The world is built
for giants and of course we don t do well in that world but give us back the world built for us and
see what we can do. (pg. 273) Whites are the giant in our world. The world we live in is a world
that was made to the white race benefit and blacks are just people trying to fit in. The laws are not
what is needed for blacks to fit. In

The Theme Of Adoption In Worse By Christopher Marlowe
A flock of sheep wanders as the all seeing shepherd meanders nearby. He watches them closely as
they consume their daily vittles provided by nature, making sure not even one sheep goes astray,
or that any predator comes to disrupt the supposed bliss. The shepherd s love for his flock is that
of presumed perfection. He maintains the assumption that as long as he guards the flock and
provides ample grazing land, the flock will provide him with copious amounts of wool: that their
relationship will be all right. Unfortunately, this simply may not be true; his flock can produce the
wool or it may suffer from an unexpected disease or any other ailment and their presumed
relationship will fail. As Christopher Marlowe so elegantly presented in The... Show more content

Throughout the novel Hata does not truly need love in the sense of modern terms, he needs
success and to make his lineage proud. Hata believes that women s roles are that of sheep to provide
for men when provided for but to his dismay, this is simply not true. Chang rae Lee captures this
perfectly; never before would a woman such as Kkutaeh, Sunny, or Mary ever deny the
shepherdship of a strong, successful man. With the power shift in gender throughout modern
history, women have gained much more power and have more ability to be their own shepherd
than ever before. No longer will a man like Jiro Kurohata be able to have a successful flock of
heirs if he does not adapt to how women have changed. Women today are much stronger than their
ancestors of sheep, they no longer accept protection in exchange for their wool. Doc Hata s
quixotic promises will appeal to primal side of women, but since human relationships have
developed into being much more than just the need of protection, his promises prove to be
insufficient in sufficing his loves with their true needs: a person who will provide them a deeper
emotional understanding and not just a gesture

Dictatorship Of Franco Summary
1.How is this article/video related to the topics we ve been talking about during our classes?
This article is related to the topics we ve been talking about during our classes as it directly
pertains to the dictatorship of Francisco Franco and the political turmoil that has ensued since his
death in 1975. It exemplifies the disillusion the Catalonian people are feeling in their relationship
with Spain, but in this case the context is personal belongings stolen during the reign of Francisco
Franco.
2.What is your opinion on that?
During the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, there was oppression, the requisition of basic rights,
and unjust punishment and legal action. The seizure of private property, such as those files held
in Salamanca, are only one instance in which we see this. Of course I recognize that freedom and
personal rights are highly subjective and can really only be defined on an individual level.
However, I do believe that this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this end, I understand that some may not care at all about old documents that have no relevance to
their life, however, for others, having these documents may give them new and invaluable
understanding or perspective of their deceased relatives. I also would like to counter the argument
that these documents must be kept to provide historical knowledge of life in Spain prior to Franco
s regime. It has been around seventy years since some of these documents were seized, giving the

Chronicle of a Death Foretold Essay
Chronicle of a Death Foretold
In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, the narrator tells us that two people were responsible for the
death of Santiago Nasar, however the narrator is wrong. Ignorance killed Santiago Nasar. There are
three specific townsfolk responsible for the murder; Leandro Pornoy, Divina
Flor, and Colonel Lazaro Aponte. Each of these three people had an equal opportunity to stop the
murder; however each person s ignorance caused them to fail in their duty as a fellow citizen. It
was their duty after they heard of the Vicario brothers plot to killSantiago

He passed on the news to the Colonel, and that was it. One must ask themselves how a policeman,
notified of intent to kill, could fail to perform a relevant act to stop the brothers the way Leandro

them seriously. Like others in the town, he had no interest in the activities of two drunken brothers

Divina Flor, another townswoman who knew of the brother s plot, let her personal issue with
Santiago get in the way of her duty as a citizen of the town. Santiago s father, Ibrahim, had an affair

Divina s mother, Victoria Guzman. However, the affair turned into a love/hate relationship when
the affection was over. Victoria knew
Divina was destined for Santiago, but she did not want to let that happen. He was just like his

so much repressed rage the morning of the crime......to embitter Santiago Nasar s breakfast (10).
This personal hatred was the direct cause of
Santiago s death. When Santiago came running to his front door with the Vicario brothers in
chase, the door was locked. Just minutes before, Santiago s mother was in a frenzy after she heard
what was going to happen to Santiago. However, Divina calmed her down by telling her that
Santiago had gone up to his room just a minute ago.

The Ethical Standing On The Delivery System Of The United...
Environmental Footprint of Mail Distribution Most of us don t consider how our mail is
transported each and every day and the impact it has on our environment. Thousands of letters are
shipped out daily, but what steps do these messages take in order to arrive in our mailboxes? This
mail delivering process uses mailtrucks to carry our letters. Can the vehicles we use to transport our
mail have a negative impact on our environment, and if so are there any programs in place to help
reduce this impact? In this paper I will discuss the ethical standing on the delivery system of the
United States Postal Service. I will research the statistics of their vehicles pollution rates and what
it takes to use these services. In this paper I will uncover the current circumstances of postal
transportation vehicles and discuss ways to improve these methods. In this paper you will come to
a greater understanding of the environmental footprint of the distribution of our letters. You will
recognize the emissions produced through this transportation. I will present the solutions in
progress to help reduce the amount of pollution from these mail delivery vehicles. The United
States Postal Service has put green policies in place. Not only have they been working to reduce
fuel emissions and pollution through their new trucks, they have begun using recyclable stamps to
conserve the environment. They have been working to establish a more ethical supply chain. Folks

Silence
It is a beautiful September morning. The sky is blue and cloudless, although it feels like it
should rain. Hundreds of people gather in small, tight knit groups at Ground Zero, holding
tightly to the person beside them. Shoulders shake as they stand in the place where their loved
ones died; not a word is uttered. Silence. That s how they choose to remember 2,296 souls
(Plumer, 2013). Complete and utter silence. The void that is too often filled, the thing that is too
often forgotten. Today s society has been trained to avoid silence. In a world where our senses
are constantly assaulted by sound, silence has become awkward, uncomfortable, and sometimes,
even downright terrifying. We fill our world with sound, from the moment we wake up in the
morning to the moment we fall asleep at night. The loud, insistent beep of the alarm clock, the
ringing of cell phones, the slamming of doors, and the hum of the radio invade every sphere of
our lives. By taking a step back, and looking at the world from a different point of view, we will
see that silence is a powerful tool that transforms our lives. Our generation is no longer taught to
spend time contemplating who we are as individuals. Rather, our focused energy is on the
distractions that are so easily available to us. We look for every possible way to run from solitude
instead of turning inward and spending time alone with our own thoughts and emotions. Though it
is frequently overlooked, silence is an influential resource available

changes. He understood his weaknesses, and allowed his men to train him in order to make him

displayed intellectual humility, as a part of his critical thinking skills, to change the current
thinking of using the highest ranking individual as flight lead, versus putting the pilot with the
most experience in that position...it should be based off skill, not rank. Even being the Wing
Commander, Olds often wore a flight suit without rank, and let his lower ranking, more qualified
officers lead the mission (badass, 2012). A true sign of being a visionary and transformational
leader, Olds used the all of the 4 I s (Individualized Consideration, Intellectual Stimulation,
Inspirational Motivation, and Idealized Influence) while making these decisions, and his men
loved him for it (CF02SG, 2012, pg 22 23). He fostered inclusive environments by putting the

organizations to find out the true problems and help fix them (Boyne, 2008). Now that BG Olds

Gloucester who is physically blinded. Both characters undergo radical changes and their once

Shakespeare shows this in the beginning of the play, to depict Lear s immaturity and shallow
personality. Despite his age, wisdom has obviously not followed. Because of Lear s blinded
mind sight , he sets himself up for his own fate. He banishes the only true, pure, and devoted
ones. His vision becomes clouded from lack of insight and understanding of the character s true
selves. Over the course of the play, Lear begins to see , his other two daughters for who they
really are. When his daughter Goneril, forces him to rid himself of his guards; since it is her
home, she wants to control Lear and make him live under her rules. Lear rebels against his
daughter s authority and believes that his other daughter ,Reagan, will not abuse him. When he
is proven wrong, the only safe place he has to turn, is his own madness. The journey that Lear
embarks on, takes him from the mentality level of a king to knowing and seeing the truth that
always seemed below him . The final result of his experiences, is the end when Cordelia forgives
him and the Kingdom is restored, but yet his fate was death. One of Lear s tragedies is that he
had to be blind to be able to see. It is pitiable to think, in order for Kent to help Lear see the truth,
he must hide his own identity. Kent must become someone else and it is only then does Lear start
to realize the true selves of others. Kent s decision to disguise himself clearly illustrates how blind
Lear really is.

Causes Of The Great Depression
The Great Depression was an economic decline that occurred in North America, Europe, and
other manufacturing countries of the world. It began in 1929 and lasted until about 1939. It is
known as the longest and most severe depression in the Western World. It is said that the Great
Depression began with a tragic collapse of stock market prices on the New York Stock Exchange
in October of 1929. Over the next three years, stock prices continued to fall, and in 1932, they
had dropped to only about 20 percent of their value they had in 1929. This decline strained banks
and many other financial organizations, especially those who had stocks. By 1933, almost 11,000
of the 25,000 banks had failed. During the Great Depression, shantytowns appeared as
unemployed people were removed from their homes. As the Depression got worse, and when the

there was enough rainfall, the land produced lots of crops. But as the droughts deepened,
farmers kept plowing and planting and nothing would grow. The ground cover that normally

For many of us when we hear the term Homeless the first image that often springs to mind is a

In its simplest form Homelessness means not having a home. In this context a home is not just a

The results from the experiment was unexpected and they supported one of the hypothesis formed

The preference they had for RO water over glucose was unexpected since glucose is found in

A Feminist Definition Of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment is a delicate yet extremely controversial topic in the workplace and every day
life. Many women fall victim to sexual harassment yet fail to receive proper justice due to either
being unaware they were sexually harassed or that the burden of proof is unfairly put on them.
Superson s article, A Feminist Definition of Sexual Harassmentwas written to inform people that
sexual harassment that is directed at an individual, is actually an attack against all womanas a group.
She believes that even though the law is changing to the benefit of victims of sexual harassment, the
fact that sexual harassment it still so pervasive shows that there is too much tolerance of it (150). In

These issues are minor, and the pros of ending sexual harassment certainly outweigh the few minor
concerns. The first issue being that because more behavior would be considered sexual harassment,
it would bring an impossible numbers of claims against offenders. This being true, more people
could be hired on to handle the growing number of claims. If an objective definition is taken
seriously in legal matters than, perpetrators will quickly discover that their actions will have serious
consequences, and will minimize if not stop their degrading behavior. Another issue with her
definition that she discusses is that, interpretation is still used when determining if behavior
constitutes as sexual harassment. The interpretation necessary when using an objective definition,
includes assessing the offenders behavior and whether or not it to be considered sexual harassment
(did it occurr because woman are the inferior group). This interpretation has a lot less wiggle room
than when using a subjective definition, which relies on the victims actions to determine whether
something is considered sexual harassment. And we know people react to situations

William James Philosophies Coinciding with Today s Psychology
An admitted Moral Psychologist , James s philosophies coincide with today s fields of Humanistic
Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, and Transpersonal Psychology.
He, like Jung, dared to look outside the normal experiences of the mind and expand the concepts of
consciousness. More particularly, William James attempted to describe the processes of the
conscious rather than the definition of the conscious. He was the first to introduce our nation to
psychology as a standard educational course and the founder of pragmatism which emphasizes the
elimination of unnecessary thinking and finding truth only if it is practically applicable.

The rationale of choice involves two levels of knowing knowledge of acquaintance (an intuitive,
sensory knowing) and knowledge about (intellectual, evaluative and factual knowing). James
was particularly interested in the habits of learning. He believed strongly that successful
education was dependent upon the establishment of healthy habits. Stages involved in
establishing good personal habits include: 1) a need or desire 2) information 3) repetition. Of
course will is essential in establishing good habits (or breaking bad habits) so the training and
strengthening of will were of major concern for James. He proposed that individuals accomplish
this by practicing a useless task daily in order to train and proof themselves capable of willing
themselves into any activity. Desired habits can be established with repetition. He does however
recognize the occasional need to surrender the will and allow events to occur naturally. This, he
believes, may induce a state of complete unification, or total oneness of self, and may require or
lead to a transcendent state of mind. Self is defined by James as the place from which all our
mental processes originate and through which all our experiences are perceived. The layers of
self include the Material Self (the part of us that defines and identifies ourselves via material

Personal Statement On Health Management
Follow your passion; it will lead you to your purpose, Oprah Winfrey. My passion leading me to
a degree in healthcare management has been the love I have for my son. Becoming a single
mother, shortly before my son turned two years old, was life altering. Moving back in with my
family, realizing I had no income, and no longer the team effort from his father, was an
indescribable sense of failure as a parent. Obtaining a degree is my way to change that, and
guarantee a future in which I will be able to independently raise and provide for my son. A degree
in healthcare management is a stepping stone to a diverse array of opportunities. Healthcare is an
expanding field, and explicitly, healthcare management is growing faster than average.... Show

My strengths are my self confidence, determination, organization, and ability to prioritize.
Balancing an overloaded school schedule, upwards of 24 credits in a semester, maintaining
excellent grades, raising a toddler, and volunteering are demonstrative of my greater fortes. In
terms of weaknesses, public speaking has always been difficult for me, as well as networking. I
have branched outside of my comfort zone, engaged in volunteer opportunities, student
organizations, and clubs as an effort to improve upon this. Lastly, my accomplishments include
completing 95 credits within a two year time span, which I will conclude at the end of this spring
semester. Additionally, I have became a member of the Sigma Alpha Phi honor/leadership society,
the Golden Key Honor Society, and have recently concluded being an Alternative Spring Break
2016 Co Leader, where we arranged a trip to build an urban garden at an elementary school in
Denver. What I have planned for the future includes graduating with my undergraduate degree this
coming December, which entails completing 12 credits this summer, as well as 12 credits and a
150 hour internship in the Fall. Upon graduation I am hoping to enter into a graduate program.
Currently, I have been leaning more towards

  • 2. The Law Enforcement Is Cracking Down Harder Than A Little... These days, it seems like almost everyone you know is getting caught behind the wheel with a little too much spirit. Law enforcement is cracking down harder than ever on drunk driving, to the point where even one beverage could get you into big trouble! So, what exactly are the stats? In 2012, in Arizona alone, there were 32,174 DUI arrests. In 2013, the number was 31,892. And in 2014, there were 28,471 DUI arrests. While the numbers are somewhat decreasing, they are still very high. (For more on these statistics see: DUI Arrests Down for 3rd Year on Arizona Highways ). The consequences of a DUI, driving under the influence, (also known as a DWI, driving while impaired) are harsh. Below are the DUI Dos and Don ts you need to know in case you get behind the wheel after drinking, get pulled over, and/or find yourself facing DUI charges: DO know the amount of tolerable blood alcohol content (BAC) for you. If you are under 21, there is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy. No alcohol whatsoever is acceptable. If you are 21 or older, you are permitted to drive with a BAC of .08%. If you are a commercial driver with a commercial license, a BAC of .04% is allowed. DO know the consequences if you refuse a chemical test. Arizona has an IMPLIED CONSENT LAW. This means that if you are pulled over and refuse to submit to a chemical test, you will automatically be subject to a fine and suspension of your license anywhere from one to two years. • 3. Does Political Journalism Affect The Uk Adequately Serve... Does political journalism in the UK adequately serve the needs of a democratic political system? The newspapers in the United Kingdom tend to take a partisan line in their reporting. According to Michael Schudson (2001,165) the concept that a journalist should be objective is relatively new and cannot be applied identically to all countries and contexts. 24, mass media politics ) He argues that the need to be objective as a journalist is felt more strongly in the UK than in countries such as Germany or China. There is an obvious distinction between what each citizen would choose to read about. An article written in The Sun, with the headline If Kinnock wins today will the last person to leave Britain please turn out the lights? has been thought of as contribution to the Conservative win in 1992 general election. The Sun, itself ran a headline announcing John Major s victory, stating it was the Sun wot won it. This was repeated by The Sun in 2015 general election, using a photograph of Ed Milliband struggling to eat a bacon sandwich, with the headline don t swallow his porkies and keep him out. (mmpd) News Corporation accounted for six popular national newspapers in the UK. This level of ownership impacts the variety of ideas and values that can circulate. Concentration of media ownership threatens democracy in political journalism(Baker, 2007), leading to over representation of political viewpoints, values that are favoured by media owners. There is a negative correlation between media domination and levels of pluralism which is needed in society, to sustain representation. The concentration of media ownership leads to less competing suppliers, thus leaving a gap in a democratic political system. Due to Rupert Murdoch s large media empire, it has been said that he has wielded political power through his influence over headlines. It could be interpreted this way when considering the support given by News Corporation owned newspapers, to Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s and Tony Blairin 1997. The book addresses the many social issues that we deal with every day. One of the most important social issues disputed on a daily basis are the kind of parents we want to be and what we want to teach our children for their future. In this memoir we are able to see how Rex and Rosemary Walls teach their children the values of everyday life. The parents try to teach their children that whatever life throws at you, you can handle it with resilience. The parents accomplished the goals for their children by telling them that they loved them and to never give up. The Walls children gained exceptional values that may not have been learned had these children grown up with different parents. Both parents in the Glass Castleultimately help Jeannette and the rest of her familybecome the people they are today, and would not have been able to accomplish this without the parents. Jeannette Wallsis the main character in the Glass Castle. She begins to have faith in her father that he will keep his promises. Appraisals are conducted in order to fulfill their obligation, some others do it to fill a report in their file but the successful organisations understand the benefits of appraisals which are to strategically manage performance of employees. The process provides a record of individual performance recorded over a given period of time. The process gives every one an opportunity to reflect on future development and how to meet one s expectations. The output of the performance appraisal helps the supervisor in determining salary increases and gives an opportunity to focus on future goals through identifying the underlying issues and correcting them to attain better results in the future which benefits both the employee and the organization (Sanchez Levine, 2009, p. 53). The job based approach involves analyzing performance through the descriptions of employee skills. This shows the effectiveness of performance of various duties and the analysis is used in developing a compensation package. The person based approach on the other hand analyses the skills and competencies of individual employee. The compensation package therefore depends on the level of skills that employees possess. There has been a history of large, government driven rallies, followed by dramatic sell offs that have left many investors angry. As of August 2, 2015, stocks are down 29% from their peak in June 2015. The current bear market defined as a fall of 20% or more from a peak is the 27th that investors have suffered in the past 25 years. It is the 21st worst in terms of losses . The government has intervened heavily during this most recent bear market, and although the intervention created some short term relief, in the long term the heavy intervention is setting China up for future trouble. Since opening up its market to foreign trade and free market returns in 1979, China has been one of the fastest growing economies, with GDP growth averaging nearly 10% through 2014. China is a major global economic leader, and is the world s largest economy (purchasing power), manufacturer, merchandise trader, and holder of foreign exchange reserves . The economic financial crisis in 2008 had a large impact on China s economy. Growth slowed, exports declined, and millions lost jobs. The cultural duality is represented through characters and objects in the poem. The duality is a result of a shift from pagan to Christian religion at the time. The holly and the oak, Sir Bertilak and the Green Knight, and Sir Gawain s shield are some of the ways cultural duality are illustrated in the poem. The holly and the oak in the poem have culture significance in both pagan and Christian cultures. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight the poet observes, But in one hand he carried a holly branch/ Into a dense forest, wondrously wild:/ Of massive grey oaks, hundreds growing together:/ (206,741,743). • 9. Religious And Spiritual Aspects Of Human Service Practice In this paper, I will be writing about spirituality and religion. I will be referring to the textbook called, Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F. Ellen Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults in attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This progression has brought programming to where it lies now: in trouble. The effects and solutions to the violence displayed on television are important due to the ever increasing viewer base of certain types of programming. Through a sundry of studies, spanning many years, from several sources, comes the debate on just what all this violence displayed for anyone and everyone to see is doing to the viewers and how we can solve it. Desensitization is a very insidious process which leads one to a greater acceptance of violence with less sympathy for those who become victim to the violent acts (Television Violence). Researchers Comstock and Paik believe there are four areas that decide if what is being watched will affect the viewer (J. Osofsky 82). By making reverse discrimination we are not making thing better, we are just sweeping the issue under the rug so to speak. When we reverse discrimination we just force people to meet a quota . In his paper he points out that, a company policy not itself is designed to keep blacks out nevertheless, does exactly that. (pg. 272) Companies do not have policies that say no black allowed. They have requirements in place that in a roundabout way keeps blacks from getting the job. Some black person could have had the job if they had the education or recommendations to get the job. • 27. Silence It is a beautiful September morning. The sky is blue and cloudless, although it feels like it should rain. Hundreds of people gather in small, tight knit groups at Ground Zero, holding tightly to the person beside them. Shoulders shake as they stand in the place where their loved ones died; not a word is uttered. Silence. That s how they choose to remember 2,296 souls (Plumer, 2013). Complete and utter silence. The void that is too often filled, the thing that is too often forgotten. Today s society has been trained to avoid silence. In a world where our senses are constantly assaulted by sound, silence has become awkward, uncomfortable, and sometimes, even downright terrifying. We fill our world with sound, from the moment we wake up in the morning to the moment we fall asleep at night. The loud, insistent beep of the alarm clock, the ringing of cell phones, the slamming of doors, and the hum of the radio invade every sphere of our lives. By taking a step back, and looking at the world from a different point of view, we will see that silence is a powerful tool that transforms our lives. Our generation is no longer taught to spend time contemplating who we are as individuals. Rather, our focused energy is on the distractions that are so easily available to us. We look for every possible way to run from solitude instead of turning inward and spending time alone with our own thoughts and emotions. Though it is frequently overlooked, silence is an influential resource available ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

American Fighter Pilot Brigadier General Robin Olds Essay Brigadier General Robin Olds Throughout military history, there have been many leaders that can be considered either visionary or ethical. This paper will discuss how BG Robin Olds was a visionary leader, but not a very ethical leader. From the beginning of his career, he was a visionary in aerial combat tactics and a true believer of leading from the front. His vision of aerial combat was beyond his years, but often fell upon deaf ears due to his flamboyant nature. Olds displayed intellectual humility, as a part of his critical thinking skills, to change the current thinking of using the highest ranking individual as flight lead, versus putting the pilot with the most experience in that position...it should be based off skill, not rank. Even being the Wing Commander, Olds often wore a flight suit without rank, and let his lower ranking, more qualified officers lead the mission (badass, 2012). A true sign of being a visionary and transformational leader, Olds used the all of the 4 I s (Individualized Consideration, Intellectual Stimulation, Inspirational Motivation, and Idealized Influence) while making these decisions, and his men loved him for it (CF02SG, 2012, pg 22 23). He fostered inclusive environments by putting the whole wing under the same 24 hour clock as the combat crews, and visited the support organizations to find out the true problems and help fix them (Boyne, 2008). If an objective definition is taken seriously in legal matters than, perpetrators will quickly discover that their actions will have serious consequences, and will minimize if not stop their degrading behavior. Another issue with her definition that she discusses is that, interpretation is still used when determining if behavior constitutes as sexual harassment. The interpretation necessary when using an objective definition, includes assessing the offenders behavior and whether or not it to be considered sexual harassment (did it occurr because woman are the inferior group). Stages involved in establishing good personal habits include: 1) a need or desire 2) information 3) repetition. Of course will is essential in establishing good habits (or breaking bad habits) so the training and strengthening of will were of major concern for James. He proposed that individuals accomplish this by practicing a useless task daily in order to train and proof themselves capable of willing themselves into any activity. Desired habits can be established with repetition. He does however recognize the occasional need to surrender the will and allow events to occur naturally. This, he believes, may induce a state of complete unification, or total oneness of self, and may require or lead to a transcendent state of mind.
