With the Video Assignments tool in Brightspace, we’ve made it easy to add video-based assessments to your training.
Powered by YouSeeU, one of the leading virtual classroom tools, Video Assignment adds integrated video assignment capabilities to Brightspace Learning Environment – at no extra cost.
The Video Assignments tool lets you create structured, asynchronous video assessments so you can evaluate communication skills, presentation skills, and more.
Learners can record, and re-record their videos from their webcams
Instructors can add time-stamped comments to submissions, or even open it up to peers for peer-to-peer feedback.
And the workflows are all incorporated into Brightspace Learning Environment – you can record, upload and grade these video-based assessments all without leaving the LMS.
I want to just end off with a quote from an AdWeek article.
As much as we may know about what engages millennials, we clearly aren’t translating that into creating effective learning experiences.
Why don’t we take the same approach to teaching them that we do to reaching them?
We know millennials – and Gen Z’s too – consume information and learn differently. A training manual, or basic click-to-continue e-Learning is not enough to create engaging learning experiences. Something like Video Assignment helps you deliver training and assessment in a medium that is familiar and commonplace to today’s learner, and overwhelmingly in a format they prefer.
Video Assignments are a way to “teach them where you reach them”.
What about video in education?
Video in education has proven benefits, and it makes sense in all kinds of ways.
Here are just a few of the benefits listed, but we know that it improves learning and better engage learners. We know it presents instructional content using media that is easily consumed and digested. And we know it allows instructors to reach a wider audience of learners (e.g. distance ed), as well as to take advantage of new trends in education – such as blended learning or classroom flipping.
Video is a great tool for (1) engaging students with the content; and (2) supporting different teaching methods.
