Voting And Vote For Vote
In America citizens have the right to vote if you are eighteen or older. A lot of people believe if you
are eligible to vote then you should be required to vote. Another viewpoint is if you do not know what
you are voting over and how it will affect our country then you should not vote. The last big viewpoint
on voting is that people do not think their vote truly counts in the long run they think the electoral
college takes the biggest amount of our votes. In 2012, just over half of the Americans eligible to vote
actually voted with the Presidential Election. Many wonder if the statistics are that low because people
do not care or if it is because they do not understand the political system enough to consider their vote
worthy enough. Making voting required would cause people to vote for things that they have no
interest in. If they do not have an interest in what they are voting for then, they will just randomly
select something just so they do not get fined. Instead of researching and figuring out what is best for
them and our country. One of the bases of this political system is individual freedom. This freedom
extends to the process of voting. If people are required to vote, they will no longer feel they have
freedom. Then, you will have people boycotting on voting because they will feel they are no longer
living in a free country. They will no longer feel as if the have individual freedom in our country.
Many of the people who do not want to vote would choose to

The Street Gang In LETB
In LETB, Harry is scapegoated by the roving street gang. Harry commits the horrendous act of
molesting a young boy, however that is not grounds for dismissing his death as justice according to
Girard s theory. This is further proved because Selby has the street gang murder him. Throughout the
section Strike , they show constant disdain for Harry and use him for beer and food. The importance
of the street gang s role as the scapegoaters , is that they show homosexual tendencies throughout the
novel . However here, they call Harry a freak and abuse him (176). After they crucify him, they go
into the bathroom of the Greeks, seemingly happier than they had been since they beat a sailor up in
Another Day, Another Dollar . In both the incident with the sailor and with Harry, questions of
masculinity and impotence were the forefront causes for the street gang s violence. This suggests that
Selby shows their inability to come to terms with their own sexuality; and how it is much easier to
strike out than accept their feelings, as seen in above in the chapter on Hypermasculinity . The rape of
the prostitute Tralala is also suggestive of this, as it seems to include most of the males in Sunset Park.
They come together to violently rape her, seemingly to take out their own feelings of inferiority and
impotence on her. Like with Girard s sexually aggressive goat , Tralala is chosen because she is seen
as an abject woman. In the conservative conforming world of 1950s America ,

Though the field of nursing is currently mixed with Associate and Bachelor prepared nurses, the
Associate prepared nursing role was originally created in response to the need of nurses to fill a

traditional professional nurse, in the skills of nursing in order to perform bedside care during the
nursing shortage. (Berman Snyder, 2012, pp.10 11) The Associate program was intended to be short

Pricing Choices Should Anticipate Competitor Reactions
5.2 The second P Price
When considering options around pricing there is four areas that need to be taken into consideration.
 The price should be based on the value it provides to a customer, not the cost of producing it
(Whitwell 2003).
 Different customers attach differing levels of value to a product and should be targeted in differing
manners (Whitwell 2003).
 Pricing choices should anticipate competitor reactions (Whitwell 2003).
 The price offered should be in alignment with the businesses long run plans and objectives
(Whitwell 2003).
It should also be pointed out that there is inherent limitations with pricing as areas such as the
elasticity of demand (Hubbard 2012) and brand positioning (Armstrong 2012) will influence customer
spending habits (Nagel 2002) and spend thresholds. That said a pricing plan for Advanta chill will be
discussed and explained how this can be done effectively within the confines of a marketing mix. This
will be done via applying each of the four points of consideration listed above.
 Pricing based on customer value As the Advanta chill has been developed to address a customer s
issue, namely allowing for retailers customers to be able to more ready access to frozen or chilled
goods. This would suggest a higher price point should be achievable as it will result in increased sales
for the retailer going forward.
 Differing approaches for differing segments Hussmann has two major marketing segments. Firstly

A Paper on the Legalization of Marijuana
Push the Kush Rhetorical Precis In his research paper Push the Kush (2014), Tanner Terry, a junior at
Granite Hills High School, argues that society, as a whole, will benefit from the legalization of
marijuana. Terry supports his assertion by illustrating the various benefits that the legalization of
marijuana can encompass such as help lower crime rates, develop the economy, and improve health.
The author s purpose is to persuade the reader so that more people will become informed of the
benefits that marijuana can have on society. His audience is directed to anyone with an interest
surrounding this topic. Introduction One of the most controversial topics in our country today, is the
legalization of marijuana. As time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2 A.D. Hua T o a surgeon used red wine and marijuana for anesthesia for painful surgeries.
Marijuana wasn t just used in China. It also spread throughout India and into North Africa, and then
eventually to Europe by A.D. 500. In 1611, Jamestown, an original American colony, became the
number one crop grower for both tobacco and marijuana. During this time, it was used as a source of
fiber. Also, in the mid 1800 s and mid 1900 s, Marijuana was used to calm labor pains, nausea, and
rheumatism. Marijuana in the south during 1890 was a more popular crop than cotton. In the 1930 s,
the U.S Federal Bureau of Narcotics portrayed marijuana as inducer for heavier drugs such as meth,
cocaine and crack. Marijuana production intensified in North America during the World War Two era,
because Asia s hemp was cut off. Culture also shifted, as jazz music started to revolve around
marijuana. Marijuana was not illegal during the jazz era it was tolerated since it wasn t a nuisance for
the community. Reefer Songs became a huge portion of the market for music. In 1947 the U.S.
governments spent over 270 million on fighting against marijuana. By the 1960 s hippies or college

But What Do You Mean By Deborah Tannen Summary
Deborah Tannen and William Lutz both discuss the difficulty of communicating. Their point of views
may be different, but their conclusion is the same. Men and women have difficulties of
communicating. Not because the two genders want to be complicated but simply because we don t
realize how or what we re doing when it s happening.
Talking, it is a form of communication that we as people do because it is our human nature to. AS
humans conversation is a ritual (327), we speak without thinking of other meanings that our words
could mean. We don t think about appropriation, the way others may think, or take other feelings into
account. WE as humans speak to interact because as mentioned earlier Conversation is a ritual (327).
When it comes to talking there is no right way, the way society communicates it can mislead, distort,
inflate, circumvent, obfuscate one another.
In the first excerpt Deborah Tannen wrote But What Do You Mean? , she breaks down and classifies
the conversational areas where men and women have the most difficulties communication. Tannen s
excerpt is written from a personal point of view, it is written within her daily workplace and based off
actions or events she encounters between men and women. Tannen argues that men tend to be more
confrontational when communication and women happen to approach confrontation in a subtle way.
Men are direct and to the point, while women try to negotiate. In the excerpt Tannen breaks her
argument into 7 sperate

I think I know a little someone who wants some cake... cooed Jack s mom
Jack laughed cutely
Here comes the train, through the tunnel.
Choo Choo!
Knocking can be heard in the background

I wanted to see Jack. I wanted to give him this. said Jack s dad

You re a bad influence, I bet you didn t even remember today was his birthday.
Jack s mom went to her pistol,
A gunshot can be heard in the background.
Give... Jack... this croaked Jack s dad in his last moments as he gave Jack s mom a present.
Jack s mom came back down the hall
Look what I found! She exclaimed
Let s go to your bedroom and find out what it is!
Jack s mom carried Jack to his nursery
Oooo, look it s a teddy bear. I ll leave you in your crib with your present, and you can play for a little

Buzz Lightyear s To Infinity And Beyond
To Infinity and Beyond! is Buzz Lightyear s famous catchphrase in the Toy Story films and the
standard definition is Without limits, limitless, sky s the limit but, hidden in this phrase is a deeper
philosophical meaning. Dr. Kent A. Bessey wrote about how the German mathematician Georg Cantor
published papers that explained the aspects of infinity and was set on figuring out as much as he could
about the limits of infinity. With his tenacity it led Cantor to discover a realm of infinity that no other
mathematician was able to discover. Bessy states that Cantor discovered, a remarkable realm where
half of a pie is as large as the whole infinity comes in all different sizes, and miracles become
mathematically plausible. Cantor would come

The Effect of Euro Crisis on India
Effect of euro crisis on India
EURO CRISIS: The European debt crisis is the shorthand term for Europe s struggle to pay the debts
it has built up in recent decades. Five of the region s countries Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, and
Spain have, to varying degrees, failed to generate enough economic growth to make their ability to
pay back bondholders the guarantee it was intended to be. Although these five were seen as being the
countries in immediate danger of a possible default, the crisis has far reaching consequences that
extend beyond their borders to the world as a whole.
As the world braces for a probable Greek exit from the Eurozone as part of the latest development in
the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis, it is prudent to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is fiscal mismanagement that has spelt trouble for Europe. It is imperative that we draw the right
lessons from this. We will tide over small crises but if we don t cut our coat according to our cloth, we
may be in for bigger trouble.
When industry lobby groups from Assocham to Ficci were seeking policies in a meeting with
commerce minister Anand Sharma on June 1 to counter a possible full blown crisis in eurozone, a lone
voice said it may even turn out to be an opportunity.
It is anybody s guess what will be the shape of global trade if banks in the continent and the eurozone
blow up, but Indian exporters may be better positioned than a few years ago to move on to other
growing markets in Africa and Asia, which the Europeans dominate now.
The Indian government has introduced focused market schemes (special incentives) to diversify
exports. So the crisis in Europe should be seen as an opportunity for India to break into the markets
where they export, says Ramu Deora, chairman, All India Shippers Council.
If the eurozone crisis is not averted, India which has about a sixth of its total exports to the European
Union, will face unemployment in the lower income category, such as textiles, one of the biggest
employers.
Textiles, including readymade garments, account for about a fifth of the total exports to Europe.
The eurozone crisis has eliminated the benefits of a weak rupee, which is down 20%

Bacillus Research Paper
Bacteria of the Bacillus genus are known to be rod shaped and are usually motile. They are endospore
forming and obligate aerobes, which means that these cells need oxygen to live. Bacillus are Gram
variable. They all begin as Gram positive; however, after time and aging of these cells, there is a
decrease in peptidoglycan which is why they are considered gram variable. These cells can be
arranged in a variety of different ways, including chains, pairs, and singles. The Bacillus genus
consists of approximately 370 different species (Priest et al., 1988). However, of all those 370 species,
the only two that are pathogenic to humans are Bacillus anthracis and Bacillus cereus. Not only does

He looks at the world and people around him with peace and full of hope. An example is when Walt
goes to confess his sins to Father Janovich. As he walks out of the church a long shot and a high key
lighting is used. Walt feels forgiven and peaceful as he leaves the church. The high key lighting shows
this as the light changes the mood into a cheerful situation. Its like a ray of hope has shined onto Walt.
Another example is when Walt gets gunned downed by the Hmong Gang and gets killed. A zoom shot
is used to zoom out of his lifeless body to show he is free and his soul leaving the world. This shows
how Walt feels happy with relief, and think he has done the right thing rather than fighting the Hmong

Objectives And Objectives Of Strategic Management
Strategic Management is a substantial wing of the management system of an organisation or company
whereby a set of managerial decision and action helps to determine the long run performance and
major goals of the organisation or company. Generally, top level management of an organisation is
responsible for the initiation and implementation of such decisions and actions based on the available
resources and welcoming environment. The strategies involve the formulation and setting of
directions, aims and objectives; improving organisational performance; collaborating and executing
changes; developing and training the employees etc. It also stresses on the monitoring and evaluation
of internal strengths and weaknesses and identifying external opportunities (Adair 2009).
On the other hand, leadership is a process whereby a person works through a chain of frequentative
action by forming a vision, crafting a set of goals and objectives, setting directions and selecting
employees, performing required tasks as long as needed until the goals and objectives are achieved. In
order to be a good leader, an individual needs to be diligent, vigilant and resilient in all aspects of
policy and strategy making for any specific situation arising with the organization (Atreya 2013).
According to Atreya (2013) Strategic management is about setting vision, mission, goals and
objectives for achieving excellence and the strategic leadership is to ensure that the results are being
achieved.

Nkrumah s Successful and failed policies A great leader of Ghana was not solely known by his name
but people remember him for what he has done for the nation. Kwame Nkrumah led United Gold
Coast Convention (UGCC) to gain support and achieve independence for Ghana in 1957. After a
conflict in party arises Nkrumah splits because he believed that UGCC goal wasn t solely to achieve
independence and formed a new party, the Convention People s Party (CPP). After Nkrumah became
the first Ghana president through his policies and political strategies it helped Ghana exponentially
develop and lead Ghana towards modernization. The period of 1958 1966 would mark as one of the
most critical periods for development for many countries in western Africa and Ghana was amongst
leading countries in rapid industrialization (Week 3, Economic and political development: Slide 7). To
this day, people of Ghana remember Nkrumah not just as the first president but as a great leader for
numerous reasons, mainly for his great deal of contribution in gaining independence and post
independence developments. One of the prominent achievements that Dr. Nkrumah had achieved was
gaining independence from Great Britain through serving as a leader in both UGCC and CPP.

the LGBT community, and key characters who changed the way people perceived the LGBT

increased according to researches, that society is more accepting toward the LGBT community.
However, only 19% from the LGBT community says there is a lot of social acceptance in our current
world. Whereas a lot of the people from this group says they still have been rejected by their family
and been called by slurs or jokes. However, the media has been working a lot more into spreading the
message of the acceptance and equality amongst this discriminated community. Brands and medias

Clutch Facing Clutch facing is the heart of clutch assembly which actually transmits power from
engine to transmission or drive shaft. It is a friction surface which binds face plate of fly wheel and
pressure plate of clutch assembly. A major benefit to using a lining or facing is that it prevents metal to
metal contact within the clutch set, resulting in less wear and tear on the clutch components. Clutch
facings tend to have mid level coefficients of friction, and are responsible for removing most of the
clutch vibrations from the engine. They also aid in allowing engines to achieve high speeds without
damaging the components. Fig.1 Clutch Facing 3. Desirable Characteristics of Dry Clutch Facings
Clutch friction linings are subjected to severe rubbing so that generation of heat in relatively short
periods takes place. Therefore, the lining material should have a combination of the following

Reggae, a generic name for all Jamaican popular music since 1960, is defined as a West Indian style of

was popularized by one of the world s most famous musicians, Bob Marley. Personally, I never

how he learned his music and how he became famous. On February 6, 1945 in Saint Ann, Jamaica,
Bob Marley was born. His father was a white Englishman and his mother was a black Jamaican. When
Marley was ten years old his father died, and at that point his mother moved him to Kingston s
Trechtown neighborhood. As a teenager in Kingston he became friends with Bunny Wailer and this is
when Marley learned to play music. When Marley was 14 years old he decided to drop out of school
so he could learn the welding trade, and at the same time he spent his spare time jamming with Bunny
and Ska musician Joe Higgs. In 1962 Bob had recorded his first two singles but neither one of them
had received any interest at the time. The following year he began a Ska band with his friend Bunny
and Peter Tosh, which was originally called The Teenagers . They then became known as The Wailing
Rudeboys and after a few more name changes they eventually came up with simply The Wailers. In
1964 they came out with their earliest Studio One hit which was recorded in the popular rock steady
style, Simmer Down. Following that track they came out with another hit in 1965 that was entitled
Soul Rebel in which both songs were written by Marley. In 1966 Marley married Rita Anderson, they

The Seven Main Ideas Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence states that people have the right to revolt when the government fails
to protect the people s rights. The government s job is to protect everyone s natural rights. Cinque lost
all of his rights when as several men took him forcibly from his home and put him on a ship. Cinque
and the Africans became imprisoned and treaty horribly on the ships. Because the government failed
to protect their rights, Cinque had the right to revolt. The Declaration states the seven main ideas that
Americans think that government should follow. Americans believe in the idea that everyone is born
with specific rights that no government can confiscate from them. This idea is called the Law of
Nature. The rights in the Law of Nature are called Natural Rights. The three rights included in the Law
of Nature are life, liberty, and property. When people willingly chose to abandon the state of nature
and come to terms with the ideas of government, they give their consent. They willingly surrender
some of their freedoms. In return, they receive protection and safety from the government. When
everyone gives their consent, a legitimate government can be created. The State of Nature does not
provide safety. To gain safety, people create a social contract. They establish a new government. That
government will protect the people by enforcing the rules, and the people promise to follow these
laws. The people established the government by giving their consent,

there were disputes between the fabricator (Haven Steel Company) and the engineering design team
(GCE International, Inc.). The fabricator changed the design from a single rod to a double rod system
to simplify the task, this lead to increase in load on the connector and the resulting collapse of the
walkway. Here the fabricators undervalued the collective outcomes. Ethnocentrism probably arose too
and that was probably the reason for the disputes between the fabricators and engineering design team.
At the testimony the fabricators swore that they called GCE to approve the change in plan but GCE
denied any such call. It is normal human tendency to play the blame game. No one wants to take
responsibility for something bad that happens. Haven Steel probably dint see the bad future outcome
and thought they could manage everything with the change in plan. It is a case of illusion of optimism

Google and Internet Privacy
In this exercise on ethics and privacy policy we focus our studies on an oft occurring situation in
offices that have multiple employees sharing office resources that may lead to intrusive instances.
The case refers to a couple of employee s complaints of unwarranted pop ups on their computers from
unsolicited advertisers. In particular, the ads pertain to some sorts of HIV/AIDS medications that
stimulate recovery from this fatal disease or at least help cope with it. The immediate suspicion goes
toward targeted marketing carried out by many online advertisers today using pervious browsing
history and other such tools available to them. The employees delve about the possibility of who these

revolution that the world seems to be warped by. This is extended to the extent of the sanctity of
personal emails and even our home being challenged by Google products like Google Ads in Gmail
and Street view on Google maps.
The argument here is based on the premise that in today s day and age where we share much
information online on sites like Google and Facebook we have to admit that there is a certain amount
of privacy we hold dear that is being taken away from us through such activities as cookie tracking
and preferential scanning of content and the fact that this leads to embarrassment when on public

The fact that Charlie was zeroed in on based on a cursory perceptive judgment speaks volumes of how
little information can go a long way in ostracizing a person. Do we really believe that a loner is more
prone to AIDS than a college going easy go lucky chap.
Also, the ostracizing of the person blamed will evidently have repercussions. Are these necessary? Do
we really need to subject a person who is already conscious of his condition (HIV positive) to further

questionable of its source the matter would go on to deeply hurt the

Who s To Blame In The Crucible
Who s To Blame: The Crucible.
In Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, Miller demonstrated that it was Abigail William s flaws
Immaturity, Lust, and Spitefulness that led her to be most responsible for the tragedy of the witch hunt
in Salem.
Abigail Williams is to be considered a strikingly beautiful young woman. She was the cause of the
whole madness of witch craft by her immaturity because Abigail and with the rest of her friends went
out into the woods while having Tituba conjure spirits so the girls could get guys to fall in love with
them. Once they were caught by Reverend Parris (which is Abigail s uncle) instead of confessing the
truth on what they were doing and owning up to it, Abigail decides to blame Tituba. She blames her
for making the girls go into the woods to conjure spirits and help the devil. When John Proctor hears
about this though, she quickly tells him in private that its nothing but lie. She wants John Proctor to

bad guy, but his only problem was the fact he fell into temptation of lust. Which causes Abigail to

Raymond Clevie Carver was born May 25, 1938 in Clatskanie, Oregon. Carver was raised in the
Pacific Northwest by working class parents. His father, Clevie Raymond Carver, was a sawmill
worker, a fisherman, and a heavy drinker. He taught Carver to fish and hunt, and read him Zane Grey
novels. Carver s mother, Ella Beatrice, worked as a waitress and retail clerk. He had one younger
brother, James Franklin Carver. At age 19, after graduating from high school, Carver married Maryann

second child named Vance Lindsay. Carver was 20 years old, and found it hard to support his family.
His family struggled for many years, both Carver and Maryann worked odd jobs. During this time,
Carver attended college and became serious about writing. When he was still a student, he published
his first poems and short stories. He received his degree in 1963. After this, he and his family moved
to Iowa where he attended the Iowa Writers Workshop. The article Raymond Carver states, The
money ran out after a year and the Carvers returned to California, where Raymond took a job as a

Brief overview Just like Harris Corporation, Exelis Inc. is mainly in business as a defense contractor
for U.S Government. It manufactures high tech weaponry such as integrated electronic warfare,

communications. Exelis also provides aerostructures, logistics, and technical services. Even though
U.S government is the main customer, Exelis also serves commercial clients, with international

was going smoothly. However, at 1:24 AM, 2 explosions suddenly tore through the fourth unit,
sending both debris and radioactive material flying through the air (IAEA, One Decade After
Chernobyl: Summing Up The Consequences of The Accident. 67). The explosions that occurred that
night were not at all planned. They were the results of human error; an experiment conducted in the
fourth unit that had gone horribly wrong. During the conduction of the experiment, the power was
shut too rapidly and pressure began to build, rendering the unit unstable (Chernobyl Accident 1986).
However, there were several other factors that also played a role in the explosions; specifically, the
different defects and flaws in the design of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The plant in Chernobyl
was an RBMK model, a military based type of reactor. However, this model suffered 3 major flaws in
its design. Firstly, its cooling systems were made in such a way that instead of reducing power when
water or fuel becomes scarce, power would increase. The second flaw would be in the control rods;
they lacked the speed necessary to cope with changes in reactivity. Lastly, it was lacking in proper
containment systems to ensure safety within the unit (Henares, jr., n.p.). There was also one flaw that
was unique to this plant which may have led to its demise:

Three stages are faced by most school aged children. Stage three, initiative vs. guilt, is for
preschoolers. If they are given freedom to imagine, be responsible, take decisions, to plan, then
tendency toward initiative will be encouraged. However, if children are always restricted and not
shown any appreciation for their ideas or decisions, they will feel guilty about acting on their own.
The fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority, is for students of elementary and middle school. Children are
encouraged to do things well and finish tasks. They are praised for their achievements and they
develop self confidence and industry. But, children who fail to achieve or who are constantly criticized
will be left with the feeling of inferiority. Identity vs. role confusion is the fifth stage faced by
adolescence, from 12 18 years. In this stage, adolescents seek their true selves and identity through
exploration of different behaviors, values, and beliefs. If adolescent succeeds, identity develops and if
they don t, it results into role confusion. When an adolescent is challenged by role confusion, Erikson
said, that adolescent is suffering from an identity crisis. Understanding sense of self is important in
this stage of the theory in order to find success in next stages. If an adolescent gets stuck at this stage,

Space 170 Bi Fall 2016
Grant Robbins Astronomy 170 BI Fall 2016 Actually observing the sky through the campus Steward
Observatory telescope brought perspective to just how lucky we are in Tucson to have such amazing
resources to study the sky. The location of the telescope is amazing; right in the middle of our historic

for astronomers or scientists. Having a 21 telescope to view the night sky expands the field of view
that wouldn t be as wide ranging with an ordinary telescope. Having looked through telescopes that

Taxpayer Case Summary
As we learned last week in Chapter 14, a taxpayer does not recognize a gain or loss on the transfer of
property to a corporation as long as the transferors have control* of the corporation immediately
following the exchange (IRC 351). The taxpayer can transfer virtually any type of property, including
cash, inventory, intellectual property (such as a patent), or a building. It s important, upon corporate
formation, that accurate records are kept on what property was used to form the corporation and what
its value is. This information is used to establish the shareholder s basis in the stock as well as the
corporation s basis in the assets contributed, which has particular importance in a corporate
liquidation. In theory, the value of the assets contributed will be equal to the value of the corporate
stock received; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Human Needs In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Its said that we always want what we don t have. That as human beings we always have the need for
something. We call these necessities our human needs. In the novel Of Mice and Men which is written
by John Steinbeck we saw an abundance of characters who have human needs. The novel showed how
characters would act when they were missing these needs and to what extent they acted to relieve
themselves. The four main human needs that the novel reflected were the need for security, realism,
idealism, and connection. The novel clearly expresses these human needs.
In the novel, the prime example for a character with the need for security is Crooks. Crooks suffers
from racism because of being black and was alienated from the rest of the farmhands. Due to this
segregation, he would spend his time in the barn rubbing his back with a bottle of liniment (Steinbeck
67). The liniment is like an invisible coat of protection for Crooks, protecting him from forces outside
of him. Crooks needs this form of security because it keeps him being a realist, rather than an idealist.
The rubbing of the ointment is also what he goes back to whenever he feels false hope. An example
would be when Crooks spoke up to Curley s wife and she said well you keep your place then, nigger
(Steinbeck 81). After being told that Crooks sat down, waited awhile then he reached for the liniment
bottle (Steinbeck 83). That is why security is a human need reflected in the story.
Realism is another human need

Cross-Culture Communication In Things Fall Apart By Chinua...
When reading two different books, it is quite possible to apply an idea from one to the other. If a
character in a book acted differently in situations, it would change the outcome of the whole book.
Cosmopolitanism s idea of cross culture communication is split into different parts with the ideas that
one should respect others even when they are strangers, one must not hold others to such high
expectations, and one may be connected to different people who come from different cultures through
the same idea. The character Mr. Smith, in Things Fall Apart, replaces Mr. Brown as the Christian
missionary in Umuofia, who runs the church. He is a strict white man who is not understanding to
Umuofia s culture. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea of cross culture communication
in Cosmopolitanism to the character, Mr. Smith, in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, this character
changes by accepting other beliefs, including everyone no matter their status, and continuing as Mr.
Brown would have. The first idea of cross cultural communication is that one must not hold others to
such high expectations, which relates to Mr. Smith in the sense that when he enters Umuofia he
believed that all of the Christian followers should know and believe in all aspects of Christianity. This
is not following the cosmopolitanism idea because he holds the newfound Christians to such high
expectations, in the sense that he thinks they should know everything about the religion. Mr. Smith

Embryonic Stem Cell Research And Ethics
Introduction Stem cell research and engineering is a widely disputed topic that often divides people in
science, ethics, and religion. In order to fully understand the controversy surrounding this area of
scientific research and discovery, one must be informed as to what stem cells are. In the article,
Human Embryonic Stem Cells: Research, Ethics and Policy , stem cells are described as primitive
cells with the capacity to divide and give rise to more identical stem cells or to specialize and from
specific cells of somatic tissues (Wert 672). Essentially, stem cells can potentially provide an
unlimited supply of cells that could form some or all body cells. This ability to transform into different
types or all types of cells depends of the type of stem cell, which can be divided into embryonic stem
cells and adult stem cells (Bishop 1). Embryonic stem cells are extracted from preimplantation
embryos and are pluripotent, meaning they possess the ability to form cells of all tissues in the adult
human body. Adult stem cells, however, are limited to what tissues they can transform into.
Currently, our research and understanding of embryonic cells is finite, yet it is evident that the
development of this research could have a significant impact on our treatment of various diseases,
disorders, and cancers. Conflicting opinions and scrutiny surrounding the ethics of embryonic stem
cell research delay the development and expansion of embryonic stem cell research. Many who

Free Labor Economy
The industrialization of the early republic period boosted the nation s economy and promoted equality
of opportunity but also compromised the quality of life through exploiting women and children for
cheap labor and continuing class conflict
The industrialization time period opened up doors for people and created equality of opportunity. In
the North, they had what was called a free labor economy and this meant they no longer had to depend
on slavery and were free to contract for laborers which stimulated economic growth. The
industrialization and implementation of factories modernized the economy and pushed forth the

One of the biggest downfall was the exploitation of the factory workers and the immorality of the
system. Like the majority of children in mill towns, Sam Patch started work in a factory at the age of
seven. He was forced to work long hours in unsuitable conditions. In the summers it was hot, the
winters were freezing and would often have swollen ankles from standing long periods of time.
Forcing children, like Sam Patch, to work hindered them from individually progressing. Children s
youth was ripped away from them and were never given a chance to get an education. Other factory
workers like low income men, women and immigrants also endured these same struggles and were
prisoners of the factory owners. This type of dependency was essentially a limitation of freedom and
forced these unskilled workers to endure any cruel or unjust conditions because they had nothing else
to fall back on. Thomas Jefferson who was always opposed to an industrial nation, had said when you

radish seeds and exposed to only high light. The third pot was filled with bean seeds but exposed to
low light. The fourth pot was filled with radish seeds and exposed to low light. The fifth and final pot
was filled with bean and radish seeds. After allowing the plants to grow we then measured the length
of the largest leaf on each plant. We then cut the plants and weighed them. To measure the leaves we
used a standard ruler measuring the largest leaf on each stalk. We then cut the plants as close to the
soil as possible and weighed them individually on a scale.
RESULTS Radish Leaf Length | Radish High | Radish Mixed | Mean | 42.63245 | 31.7856 | Variance |

The significance is to show that this is an example of interspecific competition and which radish is the
better competitor. Based on this chart, the radish high is the better competitor because it produced the
most observed sprouts. However, the radish mixed had a higher variance and larger leaves so this
would mean that the radish mixed would be a better competitor the for leaf length. Bean Leaf Length |

  • 3. Voting And Vote For Vote In America citizens have the right to vote if you are eighteen or older. A lot of people believe if you are eligible to vote then you should be required to vote. Another viewpoint is if you do not know what you are voting over and how it will affect our country then you should not vote. The last big viewpoint on voting is that people do not think their vote truly counts in the long run they think the electoral college takes the biggest amount of our votes. In 2012, just over half of the Americans eligible to vote actually voted with the Presidential Election. Many wonder if the statistics are that low because people do not care or if it is because they do not understand the political system enough to consider their vote worthy enough. Making voting required would cause people to vote for things that they have no interest in. If they do not have an interest in what they are voting for then, they will just randomly select something just so they do not get fined. Instead of researching and figuring out what is best for them and our country. One of the bases of this political system is individual freedom. This freedom extends to the process of voting. If people are required to vote, they will no longer feel they have freedom. Then, you will have people boycotting on voting because they will feel they are no longer living in a free country. They will no longer feel as if the have individual freedom in our country. Many of the people who do not want to vote would choose to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Street Gang In LETB In LETB, Harry is scapegoated by the roving street gang. Harry commits the horrendous act of molesting a young boy, however that is not grounds for dismissing his death as justice according to Girard s theory. This is further proved because Selby has the street gang murder him. Throughout the section Strike , they show constant disdain for Harry and use him for beer and food. The importance of the street gang s role as the scapegoaters , is that they show homosexual tendencies throughout the novel . However here, they call Harry a freak and abuse him (176). After they crucify him, they go into the bathroom of the Greeks, seemingly happier than they had been since they beat a sailor up in Another Day, Another Dollar . In both the incident with the sailor and with Harry, questions of masculinity and impotence were the forefront causes for the street gang s violence. This suggests that Selby shows their inability to come to terms with their own sexuality; and how it is much easier to strike out than accept their feelings, as seen in above in the chapter on Hypermasculinity . The rape of the prostitute Tralala is also suggestive of this, as it seems to include most of the males in Sunset Park. They come together to violently rape her, seemingly to take out their own feelings of inferiority and impotence on her. Like with Girard s sexually aggressive goat , Tralala is chosen because she is seen as an abject woman. In the conservative conforming world of 1950s America , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Pricing Choices Should Anticipate Competitor Reactions 5.2 The second P Price When considering options around pricing there is four areas that need to be taken into consideration.  The price should be based on the value it provides to a customer, not the cost of producing it (Whitwell 2003).  Different customers attach differing levels of value to a product and should be targeted in differing manners (Whitwell 2003).  Pricing choices should anticipate competitor reactions (Whitwell 2003).  The price offered should be in alignment with the businesses long run plans and objectives (Whitwell 2003). It should also be pointed out that there is inherent limitations with pricing as areas such as the elasticity of demand (Hubbard 2012) and brand positioning (Armstrong 2012) will influence customer spending habits (Nagel 2002) and spend thresholds. That said a pricing plan for Advanta chill will be discussed and explained how this can be done effectively within the confines of a marketing mix. This will be done via applying each of the four points of consideration listed above.  Pricing based on customer value As the Advanta chill has been developed to address a customer s issue, namely allowing for retailers customers to be able to more ready access to frozen or chilled goods. This would suggest a higher price point should be achievable as it will result in increased sales for the retailer going forward.  Differing approaches for differing segments Hussmann has two major marketing segments. A Paper on the Legalization of Marijuana Push the Kush Rhetorical Precis In his research paper Push the Kush (2014), Tanner Terry, a junior at Granite Hills High School, argues that society, as a whole, will benefit from the legalization of marijuana. Terry supports his assertion by illustrating the various benefits that the legalization of marijuana can encompass such as help lower crime rates, develop the economy, and improve health. The author s purpose is to persuade the reader so that more people will become informed of the benefits that marijuana can have on society. His audience is directed to anyone with an interest surrounding this topic. Introduction One of the most controversial topics in our country today, is the legalization of marijuana. As time ... In 1611, Jamestown, an original American colony, became the number one crop grower for both tobacco and marijuana. During this time, it was used as a source of fiber. Also, in the mid 1800 s and mid 1900 s, Marijuana was used to calm labor pains, nausea, and rheumatism. Marijuana in the south during 1890 was a more popular crop than cotton. In the 1930 s, the U.S Federal Bureau of Narcotics portrayed marijuana as inducer for heavier drugs such as meth, cocaine and crack. Marijuana production intensified in North America during the World War Two era, because Asia s hemp was cut off. Culture also shifted, as jazz music started to revolve around marijuana. Marijuana was not illegal during the jazz era it was tolerated since it wasn t a nuisance for the community. Reefer Songs became a huge portion of the market for music. In 1947 the U.S. governments spent over 270 million on fighting against marijuana. By the 1960 s hippies or college students took in the drug and embraced it as a symbol for rebellion. • 8. But What Do You Mean By Deborah Tannen Summary Deborah Tannen and William Lutz both discuss the difficulty of communicating. Their point of views may be different, but their conclusion is the same. Men and women have difficulties of communicating. Not because the two genders want to be complicated but simply because we don t realize how or what we re doing when it s happening. Talking, it is a form of communication that we as people do because it is our human nature to. AS humans conversation is a ritual (327), we speak without thinking of other meanings that our words could mean. We don t think about appropriation, the way others may think, or take other feelings into account. WE as humans speak to interact because as mentioned earlier Conversation is a ritual (327). When it comes to talking there is no right way, the way society communicates it can mislead, distort, inflate, circumvent, obfuscate one another. In the first excerpt Deborah Tannen wrote But What Do You Mean? , she breaks down and classifies the conversational areas where men and women have the most difficulties communication. Tannen s excerpt is written from a personal point of view, it is written within her daily workplace and based off actions or events she encounters between men and women. Tannen argues that men tend to be more confrontational when communication and women happen to approach confrontation in a subtle way. Men are direct and to the point, while women try to negotiate. In the excerpt Tannen breaks her argument into 7 sperate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Buzz Lightyear s To Infinity And Beyond To Infinity and Beyond! is Buzz Lightyear s famous catchphrase in the Toy Story films and the standard definition is Without limits, limitless, sky s the limit but, hidden in this phrase is a deeper philosophical meaning. Dr. Kent A. Bessey wrote about how the German mathematician Georg Cantor published papers that explained the aspects of infinity and was set on figuring out as much as he could about the limits of infinity. With his tenacity it led Cantor to discover a realm of infinity that no other mathematician was able to discover. Bessy states that Cantor discovered, a remarkable realm where half of a pie is as large as the whole infinity comes in all different sizes, and miracles become mathematically plausible. The Effect of Euro Crisis on India Effect of euro crisis on India EURO CRISIS: The European debt crisis is the shorthand term for Europe s struggle to pay the debts it has built up in recent decades. Five of the region s countries Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, and Spain have, to varying degrees, failed to generate enough economic growth to make their ability to pay back bondholders the guarantee it was intended to be. Although these five were seen as being the countries in immediate danger of a possible default, the crisis has far reaching consequences that extend beyond their borders to the world as a whole. As the world braces for a probable Greek exit from the Eurozone as part of the latest development in the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis, it is prudent to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is fiscal mismanagement that has spelt trouble for Europe. It is imperative that we draw the right lessons from this. We will tide over small crises but if we don t cut our coat according to our cloth, we may be in for bigger trouble. When industry lobby groups from Assocham to Ficci were seeking policies in a meeting with commerce minister Anand Sharma on June 1 to counter a possible full blown crisis in eurozone, a lone voice said it may even turn out to be an opportunity. It is anybody s guess what will be the shape of global trade if banks in the continent and the eurozone blow up, but Indian exporters may be better positioned than a few years ago to move on to other growing markets in Africa and Asia, which the Europeans dominate now. The Indian government has introduced focused market schemes (special incentives) to diversify exports. So the crisis in Europe should be seen as an opportunity for India to break into the markets where they export, says Ramu Deora, chairman, All India Shippers Council. They are endospore forming and obligate aerobes, which means that these cells need oxygen to live. Bacillus are Gram variable. They all begin as Gram positive; however, after time and aging of these cells, there is a decrease in peptidoglycan which is why they are considered gram variable. These cells can be arranged in a variety of different ways, including chains, pairs, and singles. The Bacillus genus consists of approximately 370 different species (Priest et al., 1988). We call these necessities our human needs. In the novel Of Mice and Men which is written by John Steinbeck we saw an abundance of characters who have human needs. The novel showed how characters would act when they were missing these needs and to what extent they acted to relieve themselves. The four main human needs that the novel reflected were the need for security, realism, idealism, and connection. The novel clearly expresses these human needs. In the novel, the prime example for a character with the need for security is Crooks. Crooks suffers from racism because of being black and was alienated from the rest of the farmhands. Due to this segregation, he would spend his time in the barn rubbing his back with a bottle of liniment (Steinbeck 67). The liniment is like an invisible coat of protection for Crooks, protecting him from forces outside of him. Crooks needs this form of security because it keeps him being a realist, rather than an idealist. The rubbing of the ointment is also what he goes back to whenever he feels false hope. An example would be when Crooks spoke up to Curley s wife and she said well you keep your place then, nigger (Steinbeck 81). After being told that Crooks sat down, waited awhile then he reached for the liniment bottle (Steinbeck 83). That is why security is a human need reflected in the story. When one applies Kwame Anthony Appiah s idea of cross culture communication in Cosmopolitanism to the character, Mr. Smith, in Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, this character changes by accepting other beliefs, including everyone no matter their status, and continuing as Mr. Brown would have. The first idea of cross cultural communication is that one must not hold others to such high expectations, which relates to Mr. Smith in the sense that when he enters Umuofia he believed that all of the Christian followers should know and believe in all aspects of Christianity. This is not following the cosmopolitanism idea because he holds the newfound Christians to such high expectations, in the sense that he thinks they should know everything about the religion. Through research, you may be able to find badly managed companies, unsuccessful funds and other threats to your financial strategy One of the key environmental elements driving the interest in, and value of, rolling strategic plans is the abbreviated time horizons that healthcare leaders now face. The condensed planning cycle is a result of many factors in the market, including increased competitive pressures, heightened scrutiny by the public and the press, and the general high profile status and challenges of the healthcare sector. Health care is consistently in the media headlights and, according to polls, on the public s mind. It is viewed by many as both problematic and emblematic a reflection of the high costs and diminishing access that increasingly frustrate and perplex the country, collectively and individually. Consequently, calls to address the problem and initiate change can be heard from all sides, including employer groups and political figures, resulting in federal and state legislation and regulation and other high profile efforts to improve the system. Onewell known example is Massachusetts decision to provide health insurance for all its residents. • 37. Embryonic Stem Cell Research And Ethics Introduction Stem cell research and engineering is a widely disputed topic that often divides people in science, ethics, and religion. In order to fully understand the controversy surrounding this area of scientific research and discovery, one must be informed as to what stem cells are. In the article, Human Embryonic Stem Cells: Research, Ethics and Policy , stem cells are described as primitive cells with the capacity to divide and give rise to more identical stem cells or to specialize and from specific cells of somatic tissues (Wert 672). Essentially, stem cells can potentially provide an unlimited supply of cells that could form some or all body cells. This ability to transform into different types or all types of cells depends of the type of stem cell, which can be divided into embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells (Bishop 1). Embryonic stem cells are extracted from preimplantation embryos and are pluripotent, meaning they possess the ability to form cells of all tissues in the adult human body. Adult stem cells, however, are limited to what tissues they can transform into. Currently, our research and understanding of embryonic cells is finite, yet it is evident that the development of this research could have a significant impact on our treatment of various diseases, disorders, and cancers. Conflicting opinions and scrutiny surrounding the ethics of embryonic stem cell research delay the development and expansion of embryonic stem cell research. Many who ... Free Labor Economy The industrialization of the early republic period boosted the nation s economy and promoted equality of opportunity but also compromised the quality of life through exploiting women and children for cheap labor and continuing class conflict The industrialization time period opened up doors for people and created equality of opportunity. In the North, they had what was called a free labor economy and this meant they no longer had to depend on slavery and were free to contract for laborers which stimulated economic growth. One of the biggest downfall was the exploitation of the factory workers and the immorality of the system. Like the majority of children in mill towns, Sam Patch started work in a factory at the age of seven. He was forced to work long hours in unsuitable conditions. In the summers it was hot, the winters were freezing and would often have swollen ankles from standing long periods of time. Forcing children, like Sam Patch, to work hindered them from individually progressing. Children s youth was ripped away from them and were never given a chance to get an education. Other factory workers like low income men, women and immigrants also endured these same struggles and were prisoners of the factory owners. This type of dependency was essentially a limitation of freedom and forced these unskilled workers to endure any cruel or unjust conditions because they had nothing else to fall back on. Competition was defined as being a relationship between members of the same or different species in which individuals are adversely affected by those having the same living requirements, such as food or space (Competition 2010). There are two different types of competition that we will be observing during this experiment. The first type would be intraspecific, which means competition between same species (1976). The second type of competition is interspecific, which is defined as competition between different species (1976). After allowing the plants to grow we then measured the length of the largest leaf on each plant. We then cut the plants and weighed them. To measure the leaves we used a standard ruler measuring the largest leaf on each stalk. We then cut the plants as close to the soil as possible and weighed them individually on a scale.
