Active Learning Psychology
Active Learning in Large Introductory Psychology Classes
According to Christopher R. Poirier and Robert S Feldman s (2007), students who participate in
classes that have students use IRT or individual response technology claim to learn more in class and
tend to have higher test scores and a better grade point average than of those who do not attend classes
that include the active learning in class. The researches want to test if and how active learning
(students who participate in in class activities) would affect the outcome of their g.p.a and test scores.

Sexual Assault Interview
I interviewed two women and one man about the University of Iowa s efforts with respect to sexual
assault on campus. The first person I interviewed was a twenty one year old woman from England
named Gina. Michaela, an eighteen year old female from a small town Southern Baptist high school,
was the second female I interviewed. The only man I interviewed was Matt, a 19 year old male from a
mid sized town. I began by asking each of my interviewees what messages they had heard about
sexual assault on the University of Iowa campus and where they had heard these messages. Gina
talked about a time in which she saw people walking around with t shirts on about sexual assault
awareness and was reminded of a lesson she had on it in a Global On Iowa ... Show more content on

Our conversations prompted some other questions about the background knowledge they had on
sexual assault, and how the University talked about it versus how their prior schools had discussed the
subject. It was interesting to get a male point of view on the topic because I, along with a lot of other
women on campus, feel like they don t have to deal with the topic of sexual assault as much as we do.
Especially with the required attendance of lectures and educationals on the subject for both the
University and the Greek Life programs. I felt frustrated at times that we all wanted more information
about the sexual assaults that have occurred on campus, but we obviously didn t want to information
about the victim to become public knowledge as it is their private business. I would agree with a
majority of the responses given to the questions, especially the discussion of the My Cup is Not My
Consent campaign. As well intentioned as it was, that campaign is more a joke now, and we don t
want to the University of Iowa to be unintentionally promoting rape jokes. I also think that the men on
campus should be required to attend just as many sexual assault seminars as the women do. This issue
should be just as much theirs as ours. Perhaps if everyone had a better understanding what to look for
in potential sexual assault situations, then there would be less sexual assaults occurring on campus.

The Pros And Cons Of Law
You don t use your chits for nothing. You call when there is an important issue.
Rep. Maxine Waters, D California, quoted by Office of Congressional Ethics. In 2010, the Office of
Congressional Ethics charged U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, with purportedly
utilizing her office to give help to a bank in which her better half possessed stock to request
government bailout cash.
The panel said the board discovered significant reason to trust that Waters may have damaged House
governs in the wake of evaluating a report arranged by the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). The
charges originate from a meeting that Waters asked for at the onset of the monetary emergency in
September 2008 with then Treasury ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waters promised to battle the charges. I have not disregarded any House rules, she said in an
announcement. Consequently, I basically won t be compelled to confess to something I didn t do and
rather have reacted to charges made by the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct in an
open hearing. Waters said she was simply upholding for the benefit of minority banks, she never
disguised her interests in One United, and she didn t profit or act dishonorably in any capacity.
In total, the body of evidence against me has no legitimacy, said Waters, who in 2008 was re chosen to
her tenth term in Congress, winning 80 percent of the votes in her locale of south focal Los Angeles.
No advantage, no despicable activity, no inability to reveal, nobody affected: no case.
The charges are a political cerebral pain for Democrats, who promised to deplete the marsh of political
debasement in the House when they came to power four years prior. Deplete the marsh, said House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Thursday. We did it since this was a frightful place and we had a huge effect
and I take extraordinary pride in that.
Since 1789, the Senate has ousted just 15 of its individuals and 14 of them had been accused of

Three Strikes and You Are Out, but Why? The Psychology of Public Support for Punishing Rule

American Christianity Democratized
How was American Christianity democratized during this period, and how else was the United States
democratized? The Second Great Awakening commenced with a Protestant revival movement during
the early beginning around 1790, the movement gained momentum through 1820s. The later
emergence of the Transcendentalists movement emerged, rooted by their religious philosophy
extended from more than a protestant movement but a social and political one, linked far back in
American history .Religious movements anticipated the coming of Christ and the need to change
moral values. Printing inked how ordinary Americans distrusted leaders and defend the right to shape
their own faith and submit to leaders of their own choosing (Hatch).Printing was the primary driver of
a chain of events that would lead to Christian democratization ,and the increasing growth of Methodist
, Baptist and later transcendentalist movement between Americans . The separation of church and
politics stirred many issues of authority, organization and leadership, Americans had sentimental
argued that their spiritual beliefs should not be morally tied into their political views using pamphlets,
tracts, booklets, journals and newspapers .The early democratization of christianity changed three
aspects of religion; First, it denied the class structure that set clergy as exceptional ,movements lead
by men like Wesley and Asbury, empowered ordinary people by understand their spiritual state rather

Human Resource Department And The Human Resources Department
The Human Resource Department is one of the essential divisions in an organization with a complete
structure. Its function involves maximizing employee performance, improving the company policies,
enhancing the skills of the employees through training, established system in the organization,
managing people, give rewards and privileges, planning, implementing and a lot more.
Why there is a need of this department? This is because people are the biggest asset of a company that
no one can ever replicate. Thus, they need to be managed, controlled, trained and improved. This is
the birth of Human Resource Department or the HRD.
According to Ruth Mayhew of studio D article, an ably run human resources department can offer the

working environment for employees. Beforehand, this function is the least important among all
functions of Human Resource Department. But now that the law on workplace safety has been
released, all employers are required to establish a safety workplace environment for its employees.
Building of clinics, fire and earthquake drillings and standby first aid kits are some of the organization

Employee Relations. In a unionized work environment, the employee and labor relations functions of
HR may be combined and handled by one specialist or be entirely separate functions managed by two
HR specialists with specific expertise in each area. I am used to be a human resource employee
relations officer. My role is to make sure that the rules of the organization are properly implemented to
the employees and at the same time employees are abiding these rules. Otherwise, appropriate
sanctions are given to those who will violate at such.
Compensation and Benefits. Like employee and labor relations, the compensation and benefits
functions of HR often can be handled by one HR specialist with dual expertise. On the compensation
side, the HR functions include setting compensation structures and evaluating competitive pay
practices. A Compensation and Benefits specialist computes the total benefits of an employee from

Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss
There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic Loss,
as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or property of the
victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully claim or even have a
leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As long as you can show the
defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered foreseeable damage then you can
recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the classes of people who can recover is very
limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in order to keep the number of claimants as low as
possible. The fear is that if claims for purely economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more
claims of this type. Chief Justice Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the
absence of physical damage or per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in
determinante time to an indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if
there is no liability for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open
the floodgates to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims
are set out in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have
now established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. A crucial case

Model Minority Definition
A minority, unless explicitly said otherwise within a situation; pertains to the central idea of a racial
pecking order within the United States that correlates to the non white population groups. It reflects
how gravely the ingrained concepts of racial identity are in our nation s cultural and social life and to
how prevalent this term has brought upon to legal, political, and economic power and privilege in this
country as a standpoint. As the decades and centuries have passed in our republic, the idea of a model
minority has arose and shifted to be in association with Asian Americans, but it s led to the
questioning of why is it always their racial group to be considered the model or whether the idea itself
is even true.

Unfortunately, the idea overall is a myth. While many Asian multiethnic groups like: Asian Indians,
Chinese and Japanese have been successful in receiving upper leveled educational degrees, there are
other groups in the Southeast Asian category, like Cambodians and Laotians who do not look or
pursue for higher education. The myth itself looks past the history as a spectrum, while also
disregarding concepts in relation to immigration. The Immigration Act of 1965 allowed for the
increase in the demography of Asian Americans as well as granted for a greater number of successful
Asian American professionals who could place a contribution to the American society. Like other
American households, academic success of Asian American students was correlated with income and
educational levels of their parents. The myth also suggests that Asian American students are over
represented in the U.S. higher education, while Asian American student populations focus in a small
percentage of institutions, giving a false impression of the supposed high enrollment in higher
institutions

The Charge Of The Light Brigade, By Dylan Thomas
The Fight of the Inevitable It is impractical to contradict the inevitability of death, but no one begins
to think of that until they are an elder or at a point in their life where their life is in jeopardy. However,
it is said that people must not die in vain and that they should fight for their life, whether it is
physically in a battle or mentally when on your deathbed. Both The Charge of the Light Brigade by
Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas depict a
similar theme of mortality and how it is inevitable. Also, both poets add a unique lesson that one
should not give up on themselves and that they should fight for it with all the time they have left on
this earth but portray it in a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

used in the poem describing death, That Good Night can be seen as the sadness and heartbreak but
mixed with the light . He talks about how the good, the wild, and the blind also will be melancholy
once death approaches because they cannot enjoy life as they please. Towards the end of the poem,
Thomas mentions that his father is dying and recounts it as a sad height , but still he tells him to be
ferocious with his tears. In the end rather than accepting death, Thomas pushes people to approach it

Indecision, Hesitation and Delay in Shakespeare s Hamlet...
Hamlet the Hesitation and Indecision
Is there a plausible explanation for the hesitation by Hamlet in carrying out the ghost s request in
Shakespeare s Hamlet?
Lawrence Danson in the essay Tragic Alphabet discusses the hesitation in action by the hero; this is
related to his hesitation in speech:
To speak or act in a world where all speech and action are equivocal seeming is, for Hamlet, both
perilous and demeaning, a kind of whoring.
The whole vexed question of Hamlet s delay ought, I believe, to be considered in light of this
dilemma. To a man alienated from his society s most basic symbolic modes, who finds all speech and
action mere seeming and hypocritical playing, comes an imperious demand ... Show more content on

Here in the play s peripeteia is enacted Hamlet s fatal error, his fatal misjudgment, which constitutes
the crisis of the action, and is the directly precipitating cause of his own death, seven other deaths, and

The play begins on a guard platform of a castle in Denmark:
For two nights in succession, just as the bell strikes the hour of one, a ghost has appeared on the
battlements, a figure dressed in complete armor and with a face like that of the dead king of Denmark,
Hamlet s father. A young man named Horatio, who is a school friend of Hamlet, has been told of the
apparition and cannot believe it, and one of the officers has brought him there in the night so that he
can see it for himself.
The hour comes, and the ghost walks. The awed Horatio tries to speak to it but it stalks away, leaving
the three men to wonder why the buried king has come back to haunt the land. [. . .] Whatever the
message is that has wakened the ghost, it refuses to share it with them. (Chute 35)
Horatio and Marcellus exit the ramparts of Elsinore intending to enlist the aid of Hamlet, who is home

Disadvantages Of Bottled Water
If a person conducting a social experiment were to pass out two label less water bottles, one filled with
tap water and one filled with bottled water, the number of people that cannot tell which bottle contains
tap water might be surprising. The difference between tap and bottled water can vary depending on
brand, location, and other factors, but there will always be those that stand out. Tap water has many
advantages over bottled water in frequent use. While bottled water might have its own convenience,
tap water costs less, is tested more frequently and publicly, and there is safety in tap water despite the
stigma stating otherwise. Tap water cost less due to not having to spend money on the plastic needed
to create the bottles of bottled water. The cheapest bottled water found in the local area could be a
pack of twelve for $3.00, meaning the price per bottle would be around 0.25 ¢; this amount is much
greater than the average cost of tap water. Cost per bottle is not the only cost of bottled water, there are
also costs of transportation and production of the bottles necessary to consider. According to Standage,
This year, Americans will spend around $9.8 billion on bottled water (1). The amount spent in
America alone on bottled water, if reallocated elsewhere could provide large changes in places of
need. Finance is not the only cost that bottled water could impact however. The plastic in the bottles is
made from petrol made from an oil base. With

To find out about the assistive technology offered in my district I contacted special education
specialist Courtney Idle. Courtney has been working in the special education field for over six years

technology helps make the curriculum more comprehensible for her students. She also states that her
students are able to participate more in her classroom. The benefit of inclusion is formed from
assistive technology.
When interviewing Courtney I asked about the different options of assistive devices or services

their work is completed. Educators can also benefit from technology by creating individualized lesson

Teachers will need increased skills to select appropriate software, effectively integrate technology into
the curriculum, and devise ways of assessing student work based on potentially complex individual

Edward R. Murrow Research Paper
Edward R. Murrow, the man who brought America broadcast journalism, he left his mark on the
twentieth century. One of America s most celebrated broadcast journalist, Murrow changed the way
we receive, understand, and respond to the new. He started news broadcasts in 1928 and continued

Offerings To An Ulcerated God Analysis
My favorite poem was Offerings to an Ulcerated God by Martin Espada. The reason for this is it was
the only poem that really made me empathize and feel emotions for the characters. It jumps right in
with a quote from the landlord s lawyer. He says Mrs. Lopez refuses to pay rent and so she has to
leave. Mrs. Lopez is the tenet and only speaks spanish, so the judge ask for an interpreter. But, all the
interpreters are working elsewhere. A volunteer interpreter stands and Mrs. Lopez shows the
interpreter pictures of her apartment/house. The conditions in this apartment/ house are horrible. It has
rats, no doorknob and the water in the toilet is frozen. Mrs. Lopez tells the interpreter that she knows
the law, will not pay because of the horrible conditions and wants to speak. Without hearing from Mrs.
Lopez, the judge states that she must pay and has 10 days to leave. Everyone accepts this gets up to
leave. The interpreter is ashamed he could not help her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Martin Espada certainly has that gift. On Line # 3 4, the landlord says Mrs. Lopez, must pay and they
want her out. But, it s how he says it that brings up an image in my mind. He tugs at his ring while he
says it, and that just brings up an image in my mind of someone tugging on there ring. Secondly, on
line #12, it says Mrs. Lopez help up a poker hand of snapshots. This very clearly describes exactly
how she held up her photos, and also tells us she has quite a few photos. Line # 24, Martin Espada
writes, the courtroom clattered with the end of business. The reader suddenly knows and can picture in
there head exactly what happens. Finally, on line 30 31, it says, Mrs. Lopez stood before the bench,

False Representation Of Bdsm
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, representation is defined as a bias portrayal of someone
or something that is being depicted in a certain nature, where as reality is the actuality of the world or
the state of things as they exist. There is much harm in the conflicts that arise when something is being
wrongly represented, not only for the people that are being represented but for the people looking into
and out of the representation. This is where stereotypes are formed and is the core of the judgements
among different races, cultures, genders, and groups of people. In the world of the BDSM culture, the
practitioners of this lifestyle are and have been stereotyped for their lifestyle choices, which has lead
to a false representation that is not only hurting the members of this culture but also curious onlookers.

The Suspense And Surprise In And Then There Were None
The suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None
Suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Every well written murder mystery does not
have fixed features because the writers of detective story always want to give their readers a unique
feeling, but suspense and surprise are essential and indispensable. (Alewyn 184) In Agatha Christie s
And Then There Were None, she fully combines suspense and surprise through the omniscient point of
view and poignant plot. Therefore, And Then There Were None is a well written murder mystery. The
omniscient point of view means a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and
feelings of all of the characters in the story. (Abrams 233) Plot is the series of events that form the
story of a novel, play, and film (Abrams 294). I will show the suspense and surprise through the

Shakespeare s King Lear and Arthur Miller s Death of a...
A German Proverb once stated that, Every man is the architect of his own fortune. In expressing his
opinion that people have more control over their fate than their fate does over them, this proverb was
mistaken. Contrary to what the Proverb espoused, the cruelty of the world and the harsh reality of
blind fortune have much more to do with what happens to a person than what actions they take, and
good actions cannot guarantee good fortune. The inaccuracy of this quote can be proven in looking at
both the tragedies of King Lear, by William Shakespeare, and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller.
If the proverb s quote was assumed to be true, those who do good and are loving beings would prosper
in good fortune, but this is unfortunately almost never the case. Often it is irrelevant what a person
does in determining what luck they have, and many times good people have horrible things done unto
them. In King Lear, a king makes the mistake of giving his two evil daughters his kingdom, while he
banishes his most loving daughter. Another noble makes a similar mistake in trusting his son who is
greedy and selfish. These men s mistakes cause a struggle for power over the kingdom, ending in great
tragedy when King Lear s loyal and loving daughter, Cordelia, is hanged. Cordelia s character
exemplifies perfectly how a good person can still have awful things happen to them. After not
confessing her love directly to her father, although she clearly cares deeply for him, Cordelia

Sociology Labeling Theory
In sociology, labeling theory is the view of deviance according to which being labeled as a deviant
leads a person to engage in deviant behavior. According to a video uploaded by Sociology Live the
spokesperson stated that: We give people a number of labels based on who we think they are which is
based on what society tells us is important, the labels we give to a person determine how we interact
with them this includes what we believe is deviant and criminal coming from symbolic interactionism
(Sociology Live). In our society, people are quick to label African Americans as uneducated or

Compare And Contrast Candy M s And Skittles
Candy Essay When it comes to candy m m s and skittles are both the iconic go to s. They may look
the same, but they really have a lot of differences.
The m m wrapper, at first glance, is brown and papery with the m m characters on it. When you
examine it even further there are allergy warnings and contact information along with a fun size label.
Whereas the skittles wrapper is firm, red, and smooth and lists all the flavors the skittles may be. In
addition it has the skittles rainbow on both sides and lists where to go if you would want to find their
Facebook page. When you first tear into the skittles package, the tear is smooth and it hardly makes

Why Did Beowulf Survive In Anglo Saxon Time
During the Anglo Saxon time period loyalty and bravery were necessary characteristics of a man.
During this time period, where surviving was difficult only the strongest survived. Beowulf was one
of the warriors that lived in this time period. Monsters, warring armies, dragons, and creatures of the
sea made life perilous. Society was looking for an epic hero. Beowulf was the answer to society s
search. Strength, bravery, and the desire for glory were three qualities that make Beowulf an epic hero.
The Anglo Saxon time period was a time where survival of the fittest was one of the largest aspects of
society. The text states Beowulf, /A prince of the Geats, had killed Grendel, /Ended the grief, the
sorrow, the suffering /Forced on Hrothgar s helpless people /By a bloodthirsty fiend. No Dane doubted
/The victory, for the proof, hanging high /From the rafters where Beowulf had hung it, was the
monster s /Arm, claw and shoulder and all (352 359). Beowulf was one that survived because he was
one of the fittest. By defeating Grendel, he saved the village of Herot from the monster. In Beowulf s

death /And Grendel s great teeth came together, /Snapping life shut. Then he stepped to another /Still

3 Op. 28 was finished in 1917, the same year that the Russian Revolution began. In order to avoid the
violence, he went on tour as a concert pianist traveling throughout England and then making his way
to America. This piano solo was written while traveling to America. This one movement sonata is full
of bold, passionate dissonances and frequent mood changes, which the eight sub movements
showcase. Sonata No. 3 is one of great passion and drama, evident in the two diverse themes of the
exposition. The first theme (m. 1 15), is powerful and has lots of energy, sounding almost like a horse
chase. There are constant triplets bounding between the hands and accents not always on the strong
beats, which demonstrate his Russian inspired rhythms. The second theme, (16 53) is a sharp contrast
with its lyrical and fleeting nature. Prokofiev, being a master melodist, creates unease with an eight
note, sixteenth rest, and sixteenth note motive that reappears throughout the piece. This whole sonata
is about juxtaposing melodies, dynamics, and rhythms all in turn creating intensity and

The Consequences Of The Atomic Bombs
The not so wild 1950s frontier were vastly sprawling lands comprised of gorgeous geology. The dry
ecosystem inspires carnivorous creatures to roam the desert in search of their next meal. The sun
bleeds into cascading mountains within the day, blurring the horizon with harmonious colors, leaving
no doubt of natures undisturbed beauty. Those moments, were then interrupted with a blinding light.
An accession of a mushroom cloud followed behind, indicating the destruction of all in total
annihilation. The aftermath leading to the extinction of life as we know it. The explosion described
wasn t naturally occurring, but a demonstration of the United States fission weapons testing program.
The military tested numerous atomic bombs in Nevada s deserts which could be seen as an everyday
occurrence, desensitizing those around it. The testing stopped and slowed down into continuous
looming threat. The atomic bomb was so terrifyingly devastating that many artists such as: Ed
Ruschas Atomic Princess, Jack Malottes The End, and Ken Lisbournes Cape Thompson! captured in
painting the physical and metaphorical repercussion during the aftermath that I d like to discuss. First
up is Ed Ruschas Atomic Princess, which I interpreted as the simplest in terms in painting style
compared to Malottes and Lisbournes themes and color use in my opinion. However, this does not
deter away from a metaphorical meaning painted on the canvas. I stared hard at Atomic Princess and

Tesla is an auto car company of the 21st century founded by Elon Musk, Martin Eberhard, JB Straubel
and Ian Wright. The company also manufactures power walls and battery charging equipment. Tesla is
well known for the production of its first sports car Tesla Roadster coupled with two other cars Tesla
Model S and the current Tesla Model X. Elon Musk is the face of the company and has driven the
company through odds building confidence among its shareholders and customers (Marcovici, 2013, p

Musk s vision of the company is to mass produce electric vehicles at a low cost and capture the
American market. Consumer behavior towards the electric vehicles has been negative in the US but
Elon bets on the near future where the central focus will be on clean energy. He emphasized that the
company is more inclined towards environmental impact other than just an automobile car company
(Kallen, 2016, p 23). Tesla 3 is the dream car for Elon and Tesla, which its prototype was unveiled

Accounting Methods Used By Ancient Egyptians For Inventory...
Accountants are trusted and respected all around the world. After all, this profession has been around
for many years; there is proof that accounting methods were used by ancient Egyptians for inventory
purposes. The accounting profession has many certifications; one of them is Certified Public
Accountant, also known by its acronym, CPA. By far, the one with the most advantages is CPA
because it is required by almost any accounting firm, provides mobility across the industry, and
provides better economic remuneration. Acquiring the certification is not easy; the CPA examination is
known to be difficult and challenging, having four parts and a passing rate of only 50 percent. It also
requires continuing education since there are constant changes in laws. Once the certification is
acquired, the rewards are greater than the sacrifice. CPAs are currently in high demand, and that is
only increasing every year; this is great for job opportunities and for remuneration. Accountants have
always had good salaries, but being in high demand increases the chances of having even better
salaries. Before, CPAs were thought of as bookkeepers and tax makers, but now they are much more
than that. Companies don t make business decisions before consulting with their accountants, after all,
no one knows the economic situation of a company better than the accountant.

Bryant Thanatopsis Theme
William Cullen Bryant in Thanatopsis, represents the romantic era theme of the love of nature. He
appreciates the beauty of nature and explains how nature teaches truths that are universal to everyone.
It is a poem that focuses on finding comfort in nature for death. He concludes by stating that man
should live life and be fulfilled in the things they ve done, not regretting things that have been done
during their lives.
In Thanatopsis, Bryant accurately depicts the romantic era s theme of a love for nature. He reveals this
theme first and foremost in the way he finds nature as a source of joy. Thanaptopsis is a meditation on
death. He recognizes the beauty of nature and finds joy in nature as a lover for nature. Bryant begins is

He feels when one dies, he is very lonely because no one goes with him; however, he comes to realize
that man is not lonely because the earth is decorated with several beautiful elements of nature. He
describes the earth as the great tomb of man (51). He also gives a scenario when one dies in the midst
of nowhere and no one ever finds the individual just like a situation where a client has a run of
ventricular tachycardia which ends up being fatal and leads to death of the client. The death occurred
because no one was around to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the client within the
window, Bryant says this death is lonely but the earth, nature, will provide you with company from all
the elements present. Bryant uses a metaphorical statement, as the long train of ages glide away, the
sons of men, the youth in life s green spring, and he who goes in the full strength of years, matron, and
maid, the speechless babe, and the gray headed man, shall one by one be gathered to thy side, by those
who in their turn shall follow them (51), to emphasize that death will come. No matter what age,
whether you be a newborn or an elderly individual, death will knock on your door

The Pros And Cons Of Political Reform Commissions
In early December 1999, the new PUP government announced that it was establishing a broad based
Political Reform Commission to review Belize s system of governance and develop proposals for
reform. On January 13, 1999, Prime Minister, the Honorable Said Musa officially launched the
Commission in Belize City. Some of the things the Reform Commission was mandated for are: to
review the system of governance and to make recommendations for its improvement, whether by
amendments to the Constitution or laws or otherwise, with a view to achieving greater democracy.
Also, to take account of all the ideas and proposals made over the past few years by different
organizations. Some members of the Reform Commission are: Senator Eamon Courtenay, People s ...

Therefore, I disagree with the commission s recommendation. I believe that Belize should change
from Parliamentary Executive to Executive Presidential. In such case, having the Parliamentary
Executive system has quite a few disadvantages. Some of them are: quick decision making, the system
has not effectively prevented the increase of official waste and corruption, and the House and even
more so the Senate serve largely as rubber stamps for Cabinet decisions. If we continue to use this
system, the people will not be able to be a part of the decision making because this system is of a
dictatorship. It means that even if we disagree with something, it s not us who have the final say. Also,
it didn t decrease waste and corruption but I believe instead it has increased. Moreover, saying that the
House and Senate serves largely as a rubber stamp for Cabinet decisions means that the House and the
Senate are approving matters or making decisions without real power. The House Senate aren t very
important to what they

Poirier and Robert S Feldman s (2007), students who participate in classes that have students use IRT or individual response technology claim to learn more in class and tend to have higher test scores and a better grade point average than of those who do not attend classes that include the active learning in class. The researches want to test if and how active learning (students who participate in in class activities) would affect the outcome of their g.p.a and test scores. • 5. Sexual Assault Interview I interviewed two women and one man about the University of Iowa s efforts with respect to sexual assault on campus. The first person I interviewed was a twenty one year old woman from England named Gina. Michaela, an eighteen year old female from a small town Southern Baptist high school, was the second female I interviewed. The only man I interviewed was Matt, a 19 year old male from a mid sized town. I began by asking each of my interviewees what messages they had heard about sexual assault on the University of Iowa campus and where they had heard these messages. Gina talked about a time in which she saw people walking around with t shirts on about sexual assault awareness and was reminded of a lesson she had on it in a Global On Iowa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Our conversations prompted some other questions about the background knowledge they had on sexual assault, and how the University talked about it versus how their prior schools had discussed the subject. It was interesting to get a male point of view on the topic because I, along with a lot of other women on campus, feel like they don t have to deal with the topic of sexual assault as much as we do. Especially with the required attendance of lectures and educationals on the subject for both the University and the Greek Life programs. I felt frustrated at times that we all wanted more information about the sexual assaults that have occurred on campus, but we obviously didn t want to information about the victim to become public knowledge as it is their private business. I would agree with a majority of the responses given to the questions, especially the discussion of the My Cup is Not My Consent campaign. As well intentioned as it was, that campaign is more a joke now, and we don t want to the University of Iowa to be unintentionally promoting rape jokes. I also think that the men on campus should be required to attend just as many sexual assault seminars as the women do. This issue should be just as much theirs as ours. Perhaps if everyone had a better understanding what to look for in potential sexual assault situations, then there would be less sexual assaults occurring on campus. ... In 2010, the Office of Congressional Ethics charged U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, a Democrat from California, with purportedly utilizing her office to give help to a bank in which her better half possessed stock to request government bailout cash. The panel said the board discovered significant reason to trust that Waters may have damaged House governs in the wake of evaluating a report arranged by the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). Consequently, I basically won t be compelled to confess to something I didn t do and rather have reacted to charges made by the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct in an open hearing. Waters said she was simply upholding for the benefit of minority banks, she never disguised her interests in One United, and she didn t profit or act dishonorably in any capacity. In total, the body of evidence against me has no legitimacy, said Waters, who in 2008 was re chosen to her tenth term in Congress, winning 80 percent of the votes in her locale of south focal Los Angeles. No advantage, no despicable activity, no inability to reveal, nobody affected: no case. The charges are a political cerebral pain for Democrats, who promised to deplete the marsh of political debasement in the House when they came to power four years prior. Deplete the marsh, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Thursday. We did it since this was a frightful place and we had a huge effect and I take extraordinary pride in that. The Second Great Awakening commenced with a Protestant revival movement during the early beginning around 1790, the movement gained momentum through 1820s. The later emergence of the Transcendentalists movement emerged, rooted by their religious philosophy extended from more than a protestant movement but a social and political one, linked far back in American history .Religious movements anticipated the coming of Christ and the need to change moral values. • 10. Pure Econom Ic Loss And Consequential Economic Loss There is a fundamental distinction between Pure Econom ic Loss and Consequential Economic Loss, as Pure Eco nomic Loss occurs independent of any physical damage to the person or property of the victim. What is common to both types of claims is that in order to successfully claim or even have a leg to stand on there must be proof of a duty of care having been broken. As long as you can show the defendant has breached their duty of care and you have suffered foreseeable damage then you can recover. The problem with Pure Economic Loss is that the classes of people who can recover is very limited. The Courts have tried to keep it this way in order to keep the number of claimants as low as possible. The fear is that if claims for purely economic loss are allowed then it would encourage more claims of this type. Chief Justice Cardazo from America stated Recovery of economic loss in the absence of physical damage or per sonal injury would expose defendants to liability in an in determinante time to an indeterminante class. This general rule applies in Scotland, meaning that if there is no liability for causing Pure Economic Loss, this is be cause of the Courts reluctance to open the floodgates to an infinite number of claims. The rules for how the Courts respond to these claims are set out in Common Law which has evolved over the years, where patterns have formed and have now established one of the vital legal frame works for Delict Law in Scotland. Model Minority Definition A minority, unless explicitly said otherwise within a situation; pertains to the central idea of a racial pecking order within the United States that correlates to the non white population groups. It reflects how gravely the ingrained concepts of racial identity are in our nation s cultural and social life and to how prevalent this term has brought upon to legal, political, and economic power and privilege in this country as a standpoint. As the decades and centuries have passed in our republic, the idea of a model minority has arose and shifted to be in association with Asian Americans, but it s led to the questioning of why is it always their racial group to be considered the model or whether the idea itself is even true. While many Asian multiethnic groups like: Asian Indians, Chinese and Japanese have been successful in receiving upper leveled educational degrees, there are other groups in the Southeast Asian category, like Cambodians and Laotians who do not look or pursue for higher education. The myth itself looks past the history as a spectrum, while also disregarding concepts in relation to immigration. The Immigration Act of 1965 allowed for the increase in the demography of Asian Americans as well as granted for a greater number of successful Asian American professionals who could place a contribution to the American society. Like other American households, academic success of Asian American students was correlated with income and educational levels of their parents. The Charge Of The Light Brigade, By Dylan Thomas The Fight of the Inevitable It is impractical to contradict the inevitability of death, but no one begins to think of that until they are an elder or at a point in their life where their life is in jeopardy. However, it is said that people must not die in vain and that they should fight for their life, whether it is physically in a battle or mentally when on your deathbed. Both The Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night by Dylan Thomas depict a similar theme of mortality and how it is inevitable. He talks about how the good, the wild, and the blind also will be melancholy once death approaches because they cannot enjoy life as they please. Hamlet the Hesitation and Indecision Is there a plausible explanation for the hesitation by Hamlet in carrying out the ghost s request in Shakespeare s Hamlet? Lawrence Danson in the essay Tragic Alphabet discusses the hesitation in action by the hero; this is related to his hesitation in speech: To speak or act in a world where all speech and action are equivocal seeming is, for Hamlet, both perilous and demeaning, a kind of whoring. A young man named Horatio, who is a school friend of Hamlet, has been told of the apparition and cannot believe it, and one of the officers has brought him there in the night so that he can see it for himself. The hour comes, and the ghost walks. The awed Horatio tries to speak to it but it stalks away, leaving the three men to wonder why the buried king has come back to haunt the land. The difference between tap and bottled water can vary depending on brand, location, and other factors, but there will always be those that stand out. Tap water has many advantages over bottled water in frequent use. While bottled water might have its own convenience, tap water costs less, is tested more frequently and publicly, and there is safety in tap water despite the stigma stating otherwise. Tap water cost less due to not having to spend money on the plastic needed to create the bottles of bottled water. The cheapest bottled water found in the local area could be a pack of twelve for $3.00, meaning the price per bottle would be around 0.25 ¢; this amount is much greater than the average cost of tap water. Cost per bottle is not the only cost of bottled water, there are also costs of transportation and production of the bottles necessary to consider. According to Standage, This year, Americans will spend around $9.8 billion on bottled water (1). The amount spent in America alone on bottled water, if reallocated elsewhere could provide large changes in places of need. Finance is not the only cost that bottled water could impact however. The plastic in the bottles is made from petrol made from an oil base. With ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Shakespeare s King Lear and Arthur Miller s Death of a... A German Proverb once stated that, Every man is the architect of his own fortune. In expressing his opinion that people have more control over their fate than their fate does over them, this proverb was mistaken. Contrary to what the Proverb espoused, the cruelty of the world and the harsh reality of blind fortune have much more to do with what happens to a person than what actions they take, and good actions cannot guarantee good fortune. The inaccuracy of this quote can be proven in looking at both the tragedies of King Lear, by William Shakespeare, and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller. If the proverb s quote was assumed to be true, those who do good and are loving beings would prosper in good fortune, but this is unfortunately almost never the case. Often it is irrelevant what a person does in determining what luck they have, and many times good people have horrible things done unto them. In King Lear, a king makes the mistake of giving his two evil daughters his kingdom, while he banishes his most loving daughter. Another noble makes a similar mistake in trusting his son who is greedy and selfish. These men s mistakes cause a struggle for power over the kingdom, ending in great tragedy when King Lear s loyal and loving daughter, Cordelia, is hanged. Cordelia s character exemplifies perfectly how a good person can still have awful things happen to them.
