New England, Middle, And Southern Colonies
There were many different early American colonies. The settlers in these colonies came from many
different places such as; England, France, Spain, and The Netherlands. Also, the settlers in these
colonies settled for many different reasons. The New England, Middle, and Southern colonies
developed a different way of life because of differences in aspects of life such as; government,
religion, and geography.
To begin, the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies developed a different way of life because
of differences in aspects of life such as government. A quote from the document Should Government
be based on religion? (document b) is, Why government should be based on religion (...) authority
from God. This quote is from founder of one of the New England colonies and he is saying that the
New England colonies have religion based on god because god is giving them authority to do
everything. Another quote to support this claim from the textbook History Alive on page 55 is, Middle
colony(...) government: self governing. This quote is showing that in the middle colonies they had a
self governing government or the government was based off the people and less off of a god leading
them. These two quotes tie back to the claim because it shows how the government was different from
the Middle colonies (based off the people) to the New England colonies (based off religion). Also, the
way a place is ran will cause the people to act and do things differently, overall

Stereotypes In The Nfl
There are many jobs to have in the National Football League (NFL), but who are the people that own
those job titles? When people think of the NFL the general perception of the league is men that hit
other men really hard. If one is to really look into depth of the NFL one could see the dramatic
differences between a team owner, the starting quarterback, to the ticket sales manager, and even the
athletic trainers. An inequality occurring in the NFL today is that these positions are not diverse and
have somehow created stereotypes and expectations for the people that should occupy them. These
images between people that should work in these specific positions varies from race, socioeconomic
classes and gender. This is having major ramifications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially people from higher socioeconomic status backgrounds are not only more opportune, but
one could say they are also considered more qualified for the higher influential jobs. People of higher
socioeconomic backgrounds not only have better chances at these jobs but have better preparation
opportunities for these jobs. Going to college for a higher education and being able to travel for work
or being properly prepared for an interview are all factors that affect the opportunity at even being
considered a candidate for the job. An example of this is how many league ownerships are kept in the
family and passed down from generation to generation. It also makes it harder, for people of lower
socioeconomic backgrounds to make a run for the higher up administration jobs, because they weren t
born on third base meaning they have a lot more to overcome such as, networking and making
influential relationship with people that have influence to get someone a job of that caliber. The idea
of meritocracy is engraved into Americans visons of the future, but sadly these are false hopes. This is
because of the idea of people already having security for jobs that will support their future. But this isn
t only with front office jobs, but player and player personnel as well. We always here of rags to riches
stories with many players, but often do we forget that many NFL players either have some family

Impact Of Extracurricular Activities On Students
Extracurricular activities are offered in almost all schools and universities. You can engage in
extracurricular activities as young kindergarten up to your adulthood and even beyond that. These
activities come in different forms like sports, clubs, fraternities and sororities, youth groups and other
social events. This paper is mainly about how extracurricular activities affect the students. In the
research paper of Nikki Wilson, Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Students, it says there that
students who participate in extracurricular activities benefit from the opportunities that it has
presented them. One of these benefits is having better grades. My friends Julie and Alex answered in
the survey I prepared that having extracurricular activities challenge them to get good grades because
if they do not, they will be required to drop their extracurricular activities and they want to set a good
example. Having to keep up their grades so that they can participate in their chosen ... Show more

I try to balance both so that I can still study, attend, play, and destress. I feel like if I did not have any
kind of activity or if I just focus on school, I think that I will get lower grades than I do now because I
won t have anything to look forward to and I won t have anything to motivate me to do better in
school. Extracurricular activities also affects the student s behavior. In the article Positive Effects of
Extra Curricular Activities on Students by Erin Massoni, she said that extracurricular activities reduce
behavioral problems of students. The reason is because from their activities, they learn to value and
take pride in their accomplishments. This leads to self respect, a higher self esteem, and confidence.
Also, when students have activities after school, which is more or less at three o clock, they are less
likely to commit violent

The Man Behind Ford Motor Company And The Mass Production...
Henry Ford Many people think of Henry Ford simply as the man behind Ford Motor Company and the
mass production of automobiles while never giving a second thought to how he got to that point.
Henry Ford was a visionary leader and an ethical leader who went against what other business leaders
thought and he ended up leading his company to the top. In this paper we will review how Ford was a
visionary leader by describing how he fulfilled the role of creator as he instituted a way of producing
automobiles quickly and cheaply enough so that they would be consumed by the masses. We will also
discuss how he used individualized consideration in a way that motivated his workers to success by
considering that working class people had concerns about not having enough time off. Then, we will
discuss how Ford was an ethical leader who did not worry over image and how he was a free thinker
by describing when he disregarded how other business men of the time would view him when he
decided to hire African American workers. Next, we will go over how I have not been a visionary
leader. We will discuss how I have relied on conventional wisdom and gotten stuck using only ideas
others have already generated and how I have had difficulty using individualized consideration.
Lastly, we will talk about how I have not been an ethical leader by highlighting an incident when I
was guilty of worrying about my image to the point that I allowed inappropriate comments to go

Proposed Sustainability Measures By Retrofitting Optimum...
Executive Summary
University of Technology, Sydney is university located near the heart of the Sydney City Centre. The
establishment of the institution traces back to the 1870s and currently has four campuses with several
buildings and facilities within the campuses. UTS currently owns the land and the existing building
located at 720 Harris Street Ultimo Sydney. With works commencing around mid to late 2015, UTS
plans to take on board and implement sustainability measures by retrofitting optimum sustainable
development. With this consideration in mind, UTS however, is uncertain on the aspects they wish to
implement as retrofit works which is why they are seeking professional advice to explore sustainable
options and better understand the optimum sustainability measures in the development with whole life
cycle in mind. This report, outlines a certain sustainable retrofitting option and explores deeply on the
criteria it will target, the outcomes and the long term benefits for the building of the university.

Thyroid Hormones, Thyroxine ( T4 ) And Triiodothyronine (...
PPL 7. Thyroid function
Thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), are implicated in numerous process,
including growth and development of muscle, bones and the central nervous system (CNS);
metabolism by increasing basal metabolic rate, calorigenesis and appetite; and have cardiovascular
effects due to they make the heart beats faster and harder. Deregulation of the correct function of the
thyroid can lead to different pathological process such as hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism,
thyroiditis, goiters, thyroid cancer and solitary thyroid nodules. The determination of thyroid
hormones, especially FT4, together with TSH is an important element in clinical routine diagnosis. It
is useful when thyroid disorders are suspected and also for the monitoring of therapy.
Before this learning unit, I was aware of general aspect of thyroid structure and function. But I found
it helpful to adequate myself into the synthesis and control of hormone production. The transport of
thyroid hormones along the body was new to me, as well as, the methods of measurement of thyroid
hormones. Some of the thyroid disorders are quite common, so as a health worker, it is important to be
aware of the different tests used to assess the thyroid, such as, plasma T3, T4 and TSH; besides the
tests that establish the cause of the dysfunction, including thyroid autoantibodies (anti thyroid
peroxidase and anti thyroglobulin), serum thyroid binding globulin (TBG), thyroid enzyme activities,

Montgomery Bus Boycott Rosa Parks Arrest
Today, many people believed that the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955 kicked off the Montgomery Bus
Boycott, and that her arrest is known to be the start of the Civil Rights Movement. To put it bluntly,
she did not start the Civil Rights Movement; the murder of Emmett Till is the catalyst that started the
Civil Rights Movement. As for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, that part is slightly true and slightly
false. Rosa Parks herself was not the first black woman who refused to give up her seat. That right
belongs to Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin, a 15 year old high school student was arrested for
refusing to give up her seat to a white couple. She was sent to court despite the city law required
passengers to move only if another seat was available, which in this case there were no more seats
available (McGuire 68). With this as major evidence, one would think that she got off without a guilty
sentence. That, in fact, did not happen. After she was found guilty of breaking the law, Jo Ann
Robinson and the WPC decided that it was time for a boycott, and they wanted ... Show more content

innocent African American citizen who is well known. With it, the organization wanted to show that
white supremacists were targeting innocent black people because of their skin color and not because
of who they are. Colvin and Smith, sadly, would never be known because if they had become symbols
of the movement, they would have been labeled as stereotypes (worse ones, in fact) by the White

The church has influenced various issues in our society. The issues which have been influenced are
abortion, divorce, homosexuality, and poverty. But before we look at how these issues were influenced
lets first look at some of the aspects of the church.
The churches mass is made up of two parts the liturgy of the word and the liturgy of the Eucharist for
the duration of which the Holy Communion is rejoiced. Mass is the center of worship that Catholics
participate in. Catholics are supposed to attend Mass every Sunday and on a small number of

Minors who have been sexually abused by constituents of the clergy has become an important focus in
the U.S. as well as some European nations. In the year 2002, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops
endorsed a Charter for the Protection of Young People and Children. However, the Vatican did not
support the Charter by claiming impending clashes among the plan s procedures and the laws of the
Church. The bishops altered their policies later. In the year 2004, the first major study of child sexual
maltreatment in the U.S. church has discovered that from 1950 2002, about four percent, or 4,392
priests, were engaged in committing sexual abuses to more than 10,000 children. Researches also
came across that the church has spent $572 million in imbursements to victims, treatment for priests,
and legal charges.
Abortion is another controversial subject that has been continually argues over for the past few years
and probably many years to come. The main controversy is should abortion be legalized? There are
two sides to this abortion topic the Pro Life which are those who are against abortion and the Pro
Choice or those who believe it is the woman s right to choose if she wants to have an abortion.
Despite the Bible failing to condemn the practice of abortion, it does place great emphasis on the

How Does Antonio Canova Portray The Human Figure
Throughout the course of history artists sought to depict the human figure in many different artistic
styles that were prominent in their own time period. For example, during the Neoclassical Period art
was characterized by clarity of form, sober colors, shallow spaces, strong horizontal and vertical lines,
and Classical subject matter (Khanacademy.org). One such work that depicts these prime neoclassical
features was Antonio Canova s Perseus with the head of Medusa. This work was a Also, another
period in which the human figure was depicted in a distinct artistic style would be the Archaic Period

Assisted Suicide And The Euthanasia Movement
Assisted Suicide Imagine being in enough excruciating pain for a long enough time and deciding that
even dying would be better. Assisted suicide is affecting more people around the world every day;
either under agreeable or disagreeable terms, depending on each person s opinion. What is assisted
suicide and why is controversy over this topic still here after at least 1,500 years of existence (A
Merciful End: The Euthanasia Movement in Modern America)? There are many factors to consider
when one wants to figure out the side of this global controversy they want to belong to. Some of these
include financial demands, different types of assisted suicide, general suicidal rates (in areas where it
is already legalized), demographic facts, and its history. Assisted suicide has produced a series of
different outcomes within society: the raising of suicidal rates, arguing over the topic, and the
increasing of its popularity within the world. The term assisted suicide is quite self explanatory in its
definition: the suicide of a patient suffering from an incurable disease, effected by the taking of lethal
drugs provided by a doctor. Assisted suicide, in the areas that have legalized it, usually has to involve
a request to the physician for a medication induced death. In some places, people are able to choose to
die before illness takes control. This method has existed for many years and has not always required a
physician s approval. The history of assisted suicide is

My Summer Camp
It was the last day of my summer camp, the night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all their gear
and leave the coast of the Puget Sound, and go back to the suburbia where most of the kids in the
troop lived. The last day of summer camp, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The
Hullabaloo was a great gathering of all the patrols, in a large grass covered area, bordering a beach
and then the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees, and was overlooked by a very
large cabin like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops at camp. The cabin like
building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux log.
The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various
troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn t always enough space to fit the scouts from all the
troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for
a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST
PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5 10 people, so my
troop (of about 25 people) had two. When we were all let loose from the cabin like meal house to
compete in various team building activities and compete in stations set around the camp (stations such
as fire starting, knotting, and building shelters), my patrol started sprinting over the hills and

Suzanne Brusati Still Lives Analysis
In the essay Stilled Lives: Self Portraiture and Self Reflection in Seventeenth Century Netherlandish
Still Life Painting Celeste Brusati organizes in a way that shows three different types of still lifes and
how they can help identify an artist. She starts by showing the lesser of the extreme of artists who are
impersonal in their works, and then goes on to show examples of those who are much more personal
and more self representative in their works. What Brusati argues is that still life paintings perpetuate
the social identity of the artist, and how a portrait can be a pictorial representation of them. Dignifying
ones own status and skill is the first type of still image that Brusati uses to describe pictorial
representations. This can be seen in Peeters Still Life which includes her own reflection in the goblet.
This inclusion serves the purpose to make people know what she looked like and increase her
notoriety to advance her professional career. Peeters also uses luxury objects, such as the goblet which
signifies a master craftsman to create a skillful pictorial representation of herself. Brusati also noted
the incorporation of gold and how it was a sign to what she thinks her value to culture is, as well as
her social status. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Brusati uses David Bailly as an example of someone who can immortalize themselves in their own
work so that they can never die unheard of. Bailly is described as using time by having a pictorial
representation of himself at two different points in his life. Bailly has one images that depicts him
during his youth life, and the other of him in his middle ages. In creating this deception Bailly is
alluding to the transience of life, and how death is inevitable, and is something that we all must face

Motivation is very necessary in any field when an employee get motivated they perform their duty
with the best of their knowledge and try to work hard. According to different researcher there are

Research finds that the employees realized many difficulties of the modification of work routines,
especially concerning work performance, professional knowledge, and professional role, but
employees recognized the change as an opportunity for the acquisition of knowledge and competence
development. Griffin, (1991) studies the Effects of Work Redesign on Employee Perceptions,
Attitudes, and Behaviors. A Long Term Investigation. The results emerged from this study shows a
pattern that holds clear implications for practicing managers and task design intellectuals. First, the
task redesign hindrance significantly distorted employee perceptions in the expectation and desired
directions. Furthermore, the altered perceptions remained at their new level for the duration of the
study. Second, attitudes including satisfaction and commitment also increased quickly but then
reduced back to their initial levels. Finally, performance did not increase initially, but did increase a lot
by the end of the study period. For empirical researchers, perhaps the most important finding from this
study was the differential pattern of changes across time periods. Researchers need to be more
sensitive to the nature of perceptual, attitudinal, and behavioral variables. The findings reported here
emphasize the need to retain work redesign as a practical tool for enhancing

Themes of Hopelessness in Herman Melville’s Bartleby the...
We can never be one hundred percent certain of the validity of our literary analyses. This is especially
the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for decades to make
sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know better than the critics,
but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my observations and analysis, Melville
s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the character of Bartleby, but also the dead
letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall Street itself works well to develop a sense
of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story as well as the narrator and consequently the
reader. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He [the lawyer] refers to Turkey as a most valuable person to me (p. 22) and to Nippers as a very
useful man to me (p. 25). Even Ginger Nut, the office boy, is useful in that his duty as cake and apple
purveyor (p. 27) pacifies Turkey and Nippers and thus keeps them working. In other words, the lawyer
considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from their labor.
(Wilson)
Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office,
greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way.
As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself as a
type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he refuses to
do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not serve the
function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the letters are
undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed. Bartleby would prefer not to do anything and
thus wasted away to death a drawn out process of content destruction. In this case the content refers to
Bartleby s soul (1098) and hope, and eventually, self.
We can expect that the lawyer s prolonged exposure to an attitude such

Billy Pilgrim s So It Goes
So it goes : Three simple words that have a comforting connotation of the reality of death. The phrase
So it goes is used 106 times in Slaughterhouse Five. Every time death is mentioned, the incident is
followed by this phrase. The phrase So it goes is a reminder that death happens to everyone at some
point. The phrase refers to death in an equalizing way. No matter whether it is a massacre of many
people or the death of a single person, the phrase So it goes applies. It could be death by warfare,
accident, or by intention, and the narrator still applies the phrase So it goes.
You could say that it is the motto of the novel. Billy Pilgrim, the main character of the novel, says that
it is a Tralfamadorian saying, which he adopts. At the beginning of the novel, Billy is young, naive,
and clueless, and he gets thrown into battle when he is drafted for World War II. He finds it so hard to

innocence, which is why he buys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

about dead people, which is So it goes. This passage from the novel explains the Tralfamadorian belief
that all moments in time exist now, in the past, and the future, because time is not linear. The analogy
of beads on a string is used on page 27, saying that humans see the illusion of time being
impermanent; once a moment has passed it is gone forever. But the Tralfamadorians see it a different
way: time is everlasting so when a person dies, he is really only dead in that very moment, but he is
perfectly okay in a bunch of other moments. This is why they adopted the fatalistic phrase So it

Oil spills have often occurred too many times in this world. Unfortunately, when this does happen,
there is always losses of life. Many people are affected by it. There is always a price to pay. On March
24, 1989 the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spilt all its oil into the ocean.
Going about twelve miles per hour, the doubt of a oil spill was highly unlikely. But, when the oil
tanker hit Bligh Reef in Alaska s Prince William Sound, the worst oil spill in United States history
occurred. Consequently, more than eleven million gallons of oil spued into the ocean. In addition,

management, public information, and administration. So, who is to blame for the oil spill?
Exxon Valdez skipper Joseph Hazelwood was the ships captain when the oil spill occurred. But, he
blames third mate Greg Cousins, who was on the bridge, failed to turn the tanker away from Bligh
Reef despite orders to do so. Indications show that Hazelwood was intoxicated the night of the spill.
Based on evidence, the skipper had three vodka drinks earlier. He was charged with piloting the tanker
while drunk. He was sentenced to 1,000 hours of community service, was fined $5,000, and was fired.
Has Exxon done anything to prevent another oil spill? The answer is...
Yes, Exxon has done something to prevent another oil spill. In the aftermath of the Exxon Valdez
accident, Exxon redoubled its long time commitment to safeguard the environment, employees, and
operating communities worldwide. To improve the chances of not having another spill happen, Exxon
has modifies its tanker routes. Second, they have instituted drug and alcohol testing programs for
safety sensitive positions. Next,

either to stand with his father and compromise his integrity, or embrace honesty and morality and

Smallpox Effects On American Soldiers
The Spanish soldiers didn t just bring sharp, damaging weapons, but also pain and suffering in the
form of plague and disease. The most significant of these tragic disease were most definitely
smallpox, measles and the mumps. Smallpox is a crowd disease. Once it strikes a low density
population it soon becomes extinct in that population as it does not have enough hosts. Thus, in
American Indian populations, smallpox would strike, the population would plummet, and the disease
would die out. The population would begin to recover and about a generation later, smallpox would
strike again (Navajo, December 2009). All three had devastating effects and took millions of lives.
Records dating back to the 1500 s confirm that there was a terrible smallpox epidemic immediately
after the Spanish had arrived.

There are many females who pretend to be untroubled on social media so others will not view them as
emotionally weak and unstable. Specifically, [women] are misusing the social media tools given to
them and creating false impressions of themselves that are fueling their own insecurities... (Negroni

The woman holding the cellphone is the real woman and the woman in the picture is who she pretends
to be. Women post pictures on the internet while they have on their nicest clothing, have their hair

will scroll past the woman s picture and assume that the woman has glamourous life. In reality, they
are unaware that the woman is pretending to be perfect. Every female is naturally born with flaws. If
humanity showed recognition to the women who are satisfied with being themselves then, more
women will feel content to accept who they are. The woman behind the picture is in distress. The artist
is concerned with the number of women who are in despair but, portraying that they are fine. He
painted this artwork to convince us that the women in social media are deceiving society, although
they can not delude themselves. Archilles is incredibly knowledgeable, he is aware of the truth behind
social media. He is not blinded by the fraud pictures that society wants everyone to see, but sees
things for what they really are. He is convincing us to look past the pictures and realize that these
women are hurting. The woman on the picturing who is suffering connects with the women in life who
aren t happy with themselves and feel hopeless, drained, and emotionally dead. The artist is biased
about which genders are suffering, both sex can me miserable and not show it. Therefore, when you

The Chosen Character Analysis
The Characteristics of a Coach
Everyone in society should be a role model, not only for their own self respect, but for respect from
others. ~ Barry Bonds. In this world bad situations occur frequently and it takes a good strong person
to handle them in a mature way. Dealing with them this way not only shows that the person has self
control, but also makes them a good role model for people to look up to. In the book The Chosen,
Chaim Potok uses Mr. Galanter to express his opinions of a good role model. Acting as a baseball
coach and gym teacher, young boys look to him for guidance and motivation every day. Having this
kind of position causes stress at times, and requires him to stay calm and level headed. Throughout

To summarize, there have been times throughout journalistic history when deception and taking sides
was acceptable, but objectivity and responsibility were largely considered to be professional standards
as we entered the 21st century.
Deontology and Utilitarianism
Of the many methods for applying ethical theories to war reporting, I narrowed the choice down to
Deontology and Utilitarianism as referenced in the introduction.
Deontology involves applying a universal set of principles (Jordin 2009, p. 15)
. . . which makes the duty or the obligations we owe other human beings the fundamental principle of
ethics. Doing our duty is not based on a particular set of circumstances. Since acts are judged only by
their consequences, the means justify the ends.
Utilitarianism is defined by the consequences of actions, not the act s moral or intrinsic value. Jordin
(2009, p. 17) states, Where deontological theories thus talk more in terms about what is right,
consequentialist theories are more concerned with the good. Moral worth is determined by its ability
to produce the most amount of good for the greatest number. Here, the ends justify the means.
How can these two standards help answer our ethical dilemma? We can answer this question by
examining a few cases from the current Iraq conflict and others.

Sports Star Responsibilities
The Responsibility of a Sports Star Sports are a very important part of entertainment in society in this
day in age and almost everyone watches them. Athletes go head to head and give everything they can
on the court, field, ring, e.t.c to win and beat their opponents and people love watching the
competition. But what about off of the court in the locker room or in public after the game? There are
many speculations of if these sports stars have the responsibility of setting a good example for the
people that look up to them as role models. In a commercial in 1993, basketball star Charles Barkley
stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court. This is true,
however, many young children aspiring to be sports stars in the future cannot help but admire him and
be like him in the future. Though some believe that sports stars should focus on the game and not care
about how society sees them off of the court, I believe that they have the responsibility as people to be
good role models for children. In our modern era, technology allows us to see news for around the
world at a click of a button. It is nearly impossible to not know about what is going on with people
that are famous no matter how hard they try to keep it hidden. Satellite television follows with more
game coverage, more analysis on the players, and more focus on the personality of players and it is
inescapable (Steinberg). Athletes are admired by many and these people can

Managing Public Transport Using Customer Satisfaction Data
Public transport in an era where sustainability matters are thoroughly concern and have to comply
with customer needs and expectation, challenges certain research on how customers perceive service
quality at this sector (Fonseca et al. 2010). For instance, in service quality concept, reliability
identified as significant factor to measure customer satisfaction since it can affect the way of customer
or non customer perception related with their travel experience (Edvardsson 1998). Therefore,
satisfaction measures has been used oftentimes in performance based contracting (PBC) of public
transport project (Fellesson and Friman 2009).
This report convey some theories from the course literature which consider customer satisfaction data
in public transport and adresses some question following: Q1: What are the pros and cons of
managing by numbers (objective and subjective, strategically and operationally) and Q2: In what way
can measures/data on subjective experience contribute to transport policy making?A further discussion
will be provided below.
The Pros and Cons of Measuring Objective and Subjective Data
Commence with the concept of service quality, satisfaction is an substantial idea which known as
noted value to comply with customer expectation (Edvardsson 1998). Therefore, it is needed
satisfaction measurement in perceiving quality of service whether for customer or non customer
perception (Fellesson and Friman 2008). Moreover, converting satisfaction into qualitative

Comparing The Gods And God In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Gods and Goddesses and God Have you ever read a mythology story and thought wow these gods are
basically just overpowered humans? Well, the Epic of Gilgamesh is no different. You have a lot of
different gods interfering with humans, you have goddesses sleeping with humans, the gods are really
like the humans. The only real difference is the gods use humans more as a form of entertainment, of a
source of food. If you take a different viewpoint of religion you get something like the Bible. In this
story, you get the all powerful god whom in the first chapter doesn t really mess with the humans he
has created, he just gives them what they need. This god is the overseer. The difference in the way a
deity is represented in these stories can hold a huge significance in the way the people in these
societies behave. In Genesis, we are introduced to the Hebrew god. He is a powerful being, he created
the entire world by literally speaking it into existence. This god that created everything by saying Let
there be... stays away from his humans. He watches over the people he created but doesn t really
interact with them. When we go over to chapter 2 we see a god that does interact but still keeps a
distance. He talks to his creations, gives them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

humans were out of control not really helping with anything and just causing chaos so the only logical
thing to do is kill them off by a flood. The god then picks a human as a favorite and give him the
measurements for a boat. Where they begin to differ is in The Epic of Gilgamesh the gods want to
bring back humans because they are a source of food. Without humans to feed the gods, they would
starve so they brought them back. In Genesis God has Noah s family repopulate the earth so that they
can continue to praise their

The Implementation Of The Project Resource Plan
As you can see from the critical path shown above, the most crucial parts of the project, are at the
same time the most independent one in this type of situation. And, although they needed follow the
regular flow that is because the development of the product, meaning the implementation of the rules
needed to pull the data from the database, can be simply verbally communicated between the Business
Analyst, product owner, and the developers. While the development is under way, the rest of the team
can concentrate on document preparation. This often leads to the fact that the developers are left with
more time to focus on the programming part and develop a more suitable and reliable code. This is in
many ways a good thing, as the requirements may change mid way, and they are left with more time to
accommodate their work to the agile environment. 19

Rhetorical Questions In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning
The poem My Last Duchess is a historical event that involves the Duke of Ferrara and Alfonso who
lived in the 16th century. Robert Browning My Last Duchess presents a narrative about a recently
widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had come to an arranged marriage with another lady from
a powerful and wealthy family. In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in
marriage and was determined to be married to a wealthy lady from a famous family. As the Duke
orients the emissary through the palace, he stops and shows a portrait of the late Duchess who was a
lovely and young girl. The Duke then begins by stating information about the picture and then to the
Duchess. Duke claims that the Duchess flirted with everyone and did not appreciate the history of the
family: gift of a nine hundred years old name. (33) However, when an individual continues to read the
poem, it is evident that the Duke played an important role in killing the lady. Duke states that he gave
commands; / Then all smiles stopped together (45 46) he used these words to define the death of his
beloved Duchess. The aim of the essay is to analyze literary devices that emphasize the content of the
poem, which includes rhetorical questions, exclamation mark, and em dash.
Browning has used extensively rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions are questions that are posted
in a literary work that does not need an answer: the strategic aims of rhetorical questions are for
emphasizing an issue or creating an object. Duke indicates the aspect of misogyny through stating
Will t please you sit and look at her? I said. (5) This is not a suggestion but indicates an aspect of
command especially when he completes the state with I said. Reading the poem shows that the Duke
never appreciated women or had a negative perspective of women, which may have contributed to the
death of Duchess. The approach taken is a form of objectification of women, which may have been
right at the time but the current society frown about it. In addition, the Duke wants the reader to
sympathize with him and he states A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, (22) indicating that he
lacks the wording for his comments. Even though he may have contributed

I Measure Every Grief I Meet, By Emily Dickinson
I Measure Every Grief I meet was written by Emily Dickinson. It was her 561st poem and one of the
most well known. It is about how Emily has a strange addict of measuring each grief she meets. She
compares the grief of others to her own but always goes back to her own sadness. She does this to try
to obtain comfort for herself.
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10th in Amherst Massachusetts. Her parents were Edward

and started to become reclusive and then began writing poems throughout her life.

Comparison of HR Practices and Employment Relations Philosophies in China and Taiwan
Introduction
In the face of ever increasing globalization, both China and Taiwan have now joined the World Trade
Organisation (WTO); a more open market economy and closer integration with the global economic
order appears to be inevitable for both countries (Magarinos et al. 2002). Human Resource
Management (HRM) is one of the critical tools for improving productivity and competitiveness at the
grass roots level (Poole 1997). This Essays aims to identify and compare the current HRM systems
and practices at different types of enterprises in both China and Taiwan respectively (Zhu and Warner
2000), to evaluate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under the reformed employment system, Chinese managers now have greater freedom to hire and fire
(Child, 1994). Even though fully fledged HRM on Western lines seems still far away, many personnel
policies have been substantially changed: workers are employed on fixed term contracts,
apprenticeships have been reformed, and training has been expanded for both workers and managers
in most Joint Ventures and State Owned Enterprises (Warner, 1997).
With the reforms of the employment system, a new terminology of HRM cam to China in the mid
1980s (Warner 1999). Initially, HRM as an academic concept was introduced by joined teaching
arrangements between Chinese and foreign universities, as well as in management practices in foreign
owned enterprises, mainly from Japan, the USA and Europe (Warner 1995). The Chinese translation
of HRM is renli ziyuan guanli hich means labour force resources management . But in fact, some
people now use it misleadingly as a synonym for personnel management (PM) (renshi guanli) and
indeed treat it as such (Warner 1997). This form of older PM practice is still very common in SOEs
and a fair degree of conservatism continues to pervade the administration of personnel on such
enterprises. Certainly, it is still somewhat far from the initial concept of HRM as understood in

Pharmacist Accomplishments

third year pharmacy student, I have heard so much about how residency could make me an
outstanding pharmacist, but never took it seriously. However, hearing it directly from a director of

Dr. Schneider spoke about how he succeeded his boss after she left for another job offer because his
employers considered him better trained and equipped for the job as a result of doing a residency. For
a pharmacist who just started working without any prior residency training, the confidence to serve at
a higher level would have been missing. It is certain that residency will give me the experience to be
well rounded in my profession and also confer the confidence I need to take on more challenging roles
in life. Another way residency can help me as a pharmacist is in the aspect of building a strong
networking team. As a resident, I will have the opportunity to work with numerous people from
different backgrounds where knowledge transfer can take place. This will help me learn new skills,
new ideas, and also gain meaningful experience from other senior colleagues. There would be times I
need advice in making a therapeutic decision and knowing someone to call could make a huge
difference.
In conclusion, doing a residency program after graduation is such a great way to be an outstanding and
successful pharmacist in life. Residency will not only get me a dream job, but it can also help me gain
accelerated promotion in my work place and build a strong networking foundation as a

John Henry Livingston Influence On Religion
Besides being known as the Father of the Reformed Church in America, the resolver of the Coetus vs.
Conferentie dispute, the instituter of the Union of Articles to provide education for colonial clergy, and
the founder of New Brunswick Theological Seminary, John Henry Livingston is also known as the
father of the modern missionary movement (By Grace Alone, 81). Livingston helped a young RCA
denomination establish itself and wade through some challenging theological positions (The Dutch
Reformed Church in the American Colonies, 207 209). During Livingston s time, it was the middle of
the Second Great Awakening and an evangelical pietism was filling the churches across the colonial

Being far more consistent than Frelinghuysen, Livingston espoused millennial views which echo a
hope that Christians can bring the return of Christ before the year 2000 (A People in Mission, 1 8).
Livingston, in his 1804 sermon The Everlasting Gospel, preaches on the Great Fall of Babylon and the
apocalyptic doom that could follow. By proselytizing to the world the good news of the Gospel, this
apocalypticism can be avoided. Livingston believed that once the entire globe heard the Gospel, the
church would enter into the millennial reign (Word and World, 18). Livingston, in his sermon, goes so
far as to say that it is the Christian s duty to live out the Great Commission to foreign lands. But the
millennial reign will come about if the church is not being pious; therefore, the church must stress
moral and social order essential piety so that Jesus will return (Word and World, 112 113). Livingston

Reality is a perception that organizes how people relate and organize the world. The Paracingulate

The nature of the market structure and demand of Cisco Systems is its business market which contains

than other companies, they still have a good and profitable relationship with their clients. For the

For Cisco Systems, if the demand fluctuates more and more quickly therefore they have to supply
their customers more and more quickly and efficiently. They also have to improve and adjust their

needs. For customers for Cisco Systems, this implies that they would want more and more or they
would want less than what is supplied. This means that they want something more or they want
something less or something else that makes the demand for business market fluctuate more and more
quickly. 2. Given the industries in which the Cisco competes, what are the implications for the major
types of buying situations?
Straight rebuys: It is widely known that whenever purchase cycles come up, technology also changes.
Cisco engages in the field of high technology which implies that they usually have few truly straight
rebuys. Because of this, their corporate buyers may try to find better alternatives to replace the ones
they already have. Because straight buys are when buyers routinely purchase something without
modification, this would likely occur in the situation of Cisco when a client orders a set of router or
switches shortly after purchasing the same items. A gradual rollout replacement or an expansion could
be the cause of this.
Modified rebuy: Modified rebuy is when a buyer wants to modify a product s specifications,

The Lord Of The Flies

are what drive all of the negative things in society. Characteristics of evil are all around us in our
everyday lives. political leaders, celebrities, People we idolize show characteristics of evil. Even small
insignificant roles in society hold certain evils in their motives. Throughout this story these evils were
for once boldly stated for all to understand. The games the boys play, the fire they set, and their rescue,
in the Lord of the flies shows the theme that evil is inside every man. In many instances in the book
the boys show the true evils of themselves. Greed, Cruelty, and Irony is key to the entire story. Greed
is a huge flaw within some of the characters in Lord of the Flies and Jack, I would say is the biggest
culprit of greed. Time and time again in the story he reflected his obsession of having complete power

the proper proportion, in fact they are out of proportion. The heads are relatively small to the bodies,

The issuer of the bond promises to pay a stipulated stream of cash flows at predetermined interest
rates. The payment generally comprises of periodic interests over the life of the instrument and the
principal is paid at the time of redemption. The amount of risk involved in debentures or bonds is
dependent upon who is the issuer. For example, if the issuer is government, the risk is assumed to be
zero. Following alternatives are available under debentures or bonds:
Government securities Debt instruments issued by the central, state or quasi government bodies are
referred to as government securities or gilt edged securities. Government securities have terms ranging
from 3 20 years and carry interest rates between 7 10 percent. Even though these securities are highly

Junior s Identity Overpowers The Identity Of Indian Identity
Victor Vernick 1st Period Mr. Kupersmith Wednesday 6, December 2017 At this point in the novel, I
think Junior is more identified with his Caucasian side because he is now officially a student at
Reardan where there s all white kids. For once in his life, Junior has a chance to be somebody. Junior
identifies with his Indian tribe in the sense that he lives on a reservation and the fact that he comes
from a poor family. I wish I were magical, but I am really just a poor ass reservation kid living with
his poor ass family on the poor ass Spokane Indian Reservation (7). Junior identifies with his
Caucasian side because he goes to an all white school and because of his intelligence. Petrified wood
is not wood (84). Junior then goes on to explain how it works and the smartest kid in the class, Gordy,
explains that he is right when the teacher doesn t believe him. Junior s Caucasian identity overpowers
his Indian identity because Caucasians in general are more privileged and are smarter than the kids at
Junior s old school, Welpinit. Based off many aspects of Junior s conditions and ethnic background,
other people and Junior have expectations of what his future will look like. An internal expectation
that Junior has of himself is that he will follow the continuing cycle of his family. He believes he ll
never be able to go after his dreams in life and live on a reservation forever. But we reservation
Indians don t get to realize our dreams. We don t get those chances. Or

Essay On Retrograde Amnesia
What is Retrograde Amnesia? Retrograde Amnesia is, being a common type of Amnesia, is the one
most people are familiar with. Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone falls and
hits their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident
even occurred. For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not learn how to stop
before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did not notice the small
cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she would not go over the
cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit her head on a patch of ice as she fell.
She remained conscience, but lost not only the memory of the accident, she lost her memory of the
entire week of the trip. Since this type of Amnesia usually happens when trauma occurs to the brain, it
seems likely that the accident causes failure in the brains ability to retrieve information. Information is
stored in many different parts of the brain, so retrieval must also be in more than one part to occur.
When a blow occurs to the head, the brain essentially is bounced, from one end to the other. Since the
brain is floating in fluid, typically damage occurs in more area s than where the hit actually happened.
Because damage occurs to several parts of the brain, the risk

Epiphany In Miss Brill
As the story Miss Brill begins, Miss Brill comes across as a woman who has a childlike mind and is
isolated from others around. She sits on a bench in the Jardins Publiques and her imagination makes
the people around her become characters in the play . By the end of the short story Miss Brill it is
shown that she doesn t have an epiphany. An epiphany is usually a sudden manifestation or perception
of the essential nature or meaning of something. An intuitive grasp of reality through something (such
as an event) usually simple and striking an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. Also
known as a revealing scene or moment (Merriam webster.com). I believe Miss Brill fails to come to
the realization of her isolation and loneliness.
The first indication Miss Brill doesn t reach an epiphany was her childlike mind, and that is because to
Miss Brill the fur is a person. She cherishes and speaks to the scarf as if it is a person. She says
phrases like Dear little thing (82), What has happened to me (82), and ... Little Rogue (82). Her
interactions with the fur helps her feel as if she isn t lonely. The fox fur gives her company and allows
her to have a form of interaction that she doesn t have with the people who she sees in the park on her
Sunday mornings. The fur is a distraction from Miss Brill s loneliness and her sense of isolation. It
allows for her to be unaware of her life and what it has come to. The fur is one of her few cover ups to
mask her from

Gender Roles In The Cult Of True Womanhood
A gender role is a social role that shows the acceptable behaviors and attitudes based on a person s
sexuality. Gender roles and stereotypes are centered on the concepts of femininity and masculinity.
Gender roles differ with each culture in the way that they are accepted. Gender roles date all the way
back to the Industrial Revolution, which took place around the 19th century. Men did all the hard labor
while the women looked after the cottages and cared for the children during this time, that was the
gender norms back then.
Women s gender stereotypes came through The Cult of True Womanhood, which was an idea that
came about in 1820. True Womanhood according to The Cult of True Womanhood, were piety, purity,
and submissiveness. In human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During World War 2 there were many deaths of men and this created a depression of workmen in the
factories as the men had to leave their jobs and go fight in the war. Women started working in the
factories but they were mainly the lower and middle class women, while the upper class women
stayed at home and cared for their children. Women were allowed to work in the factories during
World War 2 as the leaders said it was only temporary, this allowed the men not to get so uptight about
the women coming in and working. Men were still the dominant sex at this time. It wasn t until 1948
when the Women s Armed Service Integration Act actually recognized women as a permanent part of
the armed forces. This act had a huge impact on the women as it led to more equality between women
and men. Many social gender norms were challenged through this time such as women served in the
military and women were given jobs in the factories, this was never allowed before World War

Intervention Plans Can Impact Health Care In Many Ways,
Intervention plans can impact health care in many ways, but successful plans may provide a benefit to
either patients, facilities, or both. Evaluation of an intervention plan is necessary to determine its
effectiveness and the value of the intervention s impact in healthcare. In congestive heart failure
(CHF) patients engaged through a telehealth program, the effectiveness of the plan revolves around
the intervention components. Identifying outcomes and tools to measure the data obtained through the
intervention will assist advanced practice nurses (APN) in identifying which aspects of the
intervention provide the most benefit. The purpose of this paper is to describe methods to evaluate the
effectiveness, identify short term, intermediate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a small study, symptom data was collected through a web application regarding symptoms of CHF
that identified improvement of symptoms through self management (Dorsch, Farris, Bleske, Koelling,
2015). Utilizing the data collected in the telehealth program would provide clinicians with data on
weight, blood pressure, medication use and oxygenation (Appendix A). In the CHF telehealth
intervention, patients provide self care based on the provider instructions at discharge and through
office visits. Studies have shown that self management is a major element of CHF management (Lee,
Lennie, Warden, Jacobs Lawson, Moser, 2013). Patient perceived low QOL is a major predictor of
mortality and evaluating the CHF telehealth interventions utilizing qualitative survey data will help
guide any revisions in the plan of care (Hoekstra et al., 2013). The Minnesota living with heart failure
questionnaire (MLHFQ) is a widely used tool in healthcare that assesses the patient s perception of the
effects CHF has on their life (Munyombwe et al., 2014). Monitoring telehealth data and QOL survey
components would provide data on improvement of CHF care both from a clinical perspective as well
as from a patient perspective. Outcomes There are two main forms of data collection, formative and
summative ( Building our understanding, n.d.). Formative data is obtained during the planning and
implementation phase of a project whereas the summative data is obtained once the project is well

New England, Middle, And Southern Colonies There were many different early American colonies. The settlers in these colonies came from many different places such as; England, France, Spain, and The Netherlands. Also, the settlers in these colonies settled for many different reasons. The New England, Middle, and Southern colonies developed a different way of life because of differences in aspects of life such as; government, religion, and geography. To begin, the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies developed a different way of life because of differences in aspects of life such as government. A quote from the document Should Government be based on religion? (document b) is, Why government should be based on religion (...) authority from God. This quote is from founder of one of the New England colonies and he is saying that the New England colonies have religion based on god because god is giving them authority to do everything. Another quote to support this claim from the textbook History Alive on page 55 is, Middle colony(...) government: self governing. This quote is showing that in the middle colonies they had a self governing government or the government was based off the people and less off of a god leading them. These two quotes tie back to the claim because it shows how the government was different from the Middle colonies (based off the people) to the New England colonies (based off religion). • 3. Stereotypes In The Nfl There are many jobs to have in the National Football League (NFL), but who are the people that own those job titles? When people think of the NFL the general perception of the league is men that hit other men really hard. If one is to really look into depth of the NFL one could see the dramatic differences between a team owner, the starting quarterback, to the ticket sales manager, and even the athletic trainers. An inequality occurring in the NFL today is that these positions are not diverse and have somehow created stereotypes and expectations for the people that should occupy them. These images between people that should work in these specific positions varies from race, socioeconomic classes and gender. This is having major ramifications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essentially people from higher socioeconomic status backgrounds are not only more opportune, but one could say they are also considered more qualified for the higher influential jobs. People of higher socioeconomic backgrounds not only have better chances at these jobs but have better preparation opportunities for these jobs. Going to college for a higher education and being able to travel for work or being properly prepared for an interview are all factors that affect the opportunity at even being considered a candidate for the job. An example of this is how many league ownerships are kept in the family and passed down from generation to generation. It also makes it harder, for people of lower socioeconomic backgrounds to make a run for the higher up administration jobs, because they weren t born on third base meaning they have a lot more to overcome such as, networking and making influential relationship with people that have influence to get someone a job of that caliber. The idea of meritocracy is engraved into Americans visons of the future, but sadly these are false hopes. This is because of the idea of people already having security for jobs that will support their future. But this isn t only with front office jobs, but player and player personnel as well. You can engage in extracurricular activities as young kindergarten up to your adulthood and even beyond that. These activities come in different forms like sports, clubs, fraternities and sororities, youth groups and other social events. This paper is mainly about how extracurricular activities affect the students. In the research paper of Nikki Wilson, Impact of Extracurricular Activities on Students, it says there that students who participate in extracurricular activities benefit from the opportunities that it has presented them. One of these benefits is having better grades. • 5. The Man Behind Ford Motor Company And The Mass Production... Henry Ford Many people think of Henry Ford simply as the man behind Ford Motor Company and the mass production of automobiles while never giving a second thought to how he got to that point. Henry Ford was a visionary leader and an ethical leader who went against what other business leaders thought and he ended up leading his company to the top. In this paper we will review how Ford was a visionary leader by describing how he fulfilled the role of creator as he instituted a way of producing automobiles quickly and cheaply enough so that they would be consumed by the masses. We will also discuss how he used individualized consideration in a way that motivated his workers to success by considering that working class people had concerns about not having enough time off. Then, we will discuss how Ford was an ethical leader who did not worry over image and how he was a free thinker by describing when he disregarded how other business men of the time would view him when he decided to hire African American workers. Next, we will go over how I have not been a visionary leader. We will discuss how I have relied on conventional wisdom and gotten stuck using only ideas others have already generated and how I have had difficulty using individualized consideration. Lastly, we will talk about how I have not been an ethical leader by highlighting an incident when I was guilty of worrying about my image to the point that I allowed inappropriate comments to go unchecked and ... Montgomery Bus Boycott Rosa Parks Arrest Today, many people believed that the arrest of Rosa Parks in 1955 kicked off the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and that her arrest is known to be the start of the Civil Rights Movement. To put it bluntly, she did not start the Civil Rights Movement; the murder of Emmett Till is the catalyst that started the Civil Rights Movement. As for the Montgomery Bus Boycott, that part is slightly true and slightly false. Rosa Parks herself was not the first black woman who refused to give up her seat. That right belongs to Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin, a 15 year old high school student was arrested for refusing to give up her seat to a white couple. She was sent to court despite the city law required passengers to move only if another seat was available, which in this case there were no more seats available (McGuire 68). Assisted suicide has produced a series of different outcomes within society: the raising of suicidal rates, arguing over the topic, and the increasing of its popularity within the world. The term assisted suicide is quite self explanatory in its definition: the suicide of a patient suffering from an incurable disease, effected by the taking of lethal drugs provided by a doctor. • 12. My Summer Camp It was the last day of my summer camp, the night before my Boy Scout troop would pack all their gear and leave the coast of the Puget Sound, and go back to the suburbia where most of the kids in the troop lived. The last day of summer camp, at least at Camp Parsons, was the Hullabaloo. The Hullabaloo was a great gathering of all the patrols, in a large grass covered area, bordering a beach and then the Puget Sound. The whole area was dotted with green trees, and was overlooked by a very large cabin like building, which acted as the meal room for all the troops at camp. The cabin like building was a dark brown, built on the outside with logs, but on the inside a sort of insulated faux log. The inside was very spacious and lined up along the walls were about 50 long tables for the various troops at camp. Even in this large room, there wasn t always enough space to fit the scouts from all the troops, so it was safe to say that my patrol had a lot of competition. All the patrols would compete for a trophy (a carved block of wood, painted yellow and with the purple letters CP stating: FIRST PLACE). Each troop usually has more than one patrol, each patrol being about 5 10 people, so my troop (of about 25 people) had two. • 13. Suzanne Brusati Still Lives Analysis In the essay Stilled Lives: Self Portraiture and Self Reflection in Seventeenth Century Netherlandish Still Life Painting Celeste Brusati organizes in a way that shows three different types of still lifes and how they can help identify an artist. She starts by showing the lesser of the extreme of artists who are impersonal in their works, and then goes on to show examples of those who are much more personal and more self representative in their works. What Brusati argues is that still life paintings perpetuate the social identity of the artist, and how a portrait can be a pictorial representation of them. Dignifying ones own status and skill is the first type of still image that Brusati uses to describe pictorial representations. This can be seen in Peeters Still Life which includes her own reflection in the goblet. This inclusion serves the purpose to make people know what she looked like and increase her notoriety to advance her professional career. Peeters also uses luxury objects, such as the goblet which signifies a master craftsman to create a skillful pictorial representation of herself. The results emerged from this study shows a pattern that holds clear implications for practicing managers and task design intellectuals. First, the task redesign hindrance significantly distorted employee perceptions in the expectation and desired directions. Furthermore, the altered perceptions remained at their new level for the duration of the study. Second, attitudes including satisfaction and commitment also increased quickly but then reduced back to their initial levels. Finally, performance did not increase initially, but did increase a lot by the end of the study period. For empirical researchers, perhaps the most important finding from this study was the differential pattern of changes across time periods. • 16. Themes of Hopelessness in Herman Melville’s Bartleby the... We can never be one hundred percent certain of the validity of our literary analyses. This is especially the case with Herman Melville s Bartleby the Scrivener . Critics have been trying for decades to make sense of the text and most will describe it as inscrutable . I don t claim to know better than the critics, but instead offer my own interpretation of the work. Based on my observations and analysis, Melville s use of many elements in his story first and foremost the character of Bartleby, but also the dead letters, the many walls of Wall Street, and the state of Wall Street itself works well to develop a sense of hopelessness, whether intentional or not, in the story as well as the narrator and consequently the reader. In other words, the lawyer considers his employees useful insofar as he can exploit them and make money from their labor. (Wilson) Bartleby, however, who prefers not to do any work after a short period of working in the office, greatly discourages the lawyer because he does not prove useful in any way. As a further character development, Melville encourages the reader to consider Bartleby himself as a type of dead letter (Weinstock). Bartleby doesn t serve the purpose he intended to when he refuses to do work, in the same way the dead letters (1111) that Bartleby used to work with did not serve the function they were intended for. It is important to note that in a dead letter office, the letters are undeliverable and so they have their content destroyed. People will scroll past the woman s picture and assume that the woman has glamourous life. In reality, they are unaware that the woman is pretending to be perfect. Every female is naturally born with flaws. If humanity showed recognition to the women who are satisfied with being themselves then, more women will feel content to accept who they are. The woman behind the picture is in distress. The artist is concerned with the number of women who are in despair but, portraying that they are fine. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To summarize, there have been times throughout journalistic history when deception and taking sides was acceptable, but objectivity and responsibility were largely considered to be professional standards as we entered the 21st century. Deontology and Utilitarianism Of the many methods for applying ethical theories to war reporting, I narrowed the choice down to Deontology and Utilitarianism as referenced in the introduction. Deontology involves applying a universal set of principles (Jordin 2009, p. 15) . . . which makes the duty or the obligations we owe other human beings the fundamental principle of ethics. Doing our duty is not based on a particular set of circumstances. Since acts are judged only by their consequences, the means justify the ends.
  • 25. Utilitarianism is defined by the consequences of actions, not the act s moral or intrinsic value. Jordin (2009, p. 17) states, Where deontological theories thus talk more in terms about what is right, consequentialist theories are more concerned with the good. Moral worth is determined by its ability to produce the most amount of good for the greatest number. Here, the ends justify the means. How can these two standards help answer our ethical dilemma? We can answer this question by examining a few cases from the current Iraq conflict and others. Ethical Dilemma: Should reporters ever leak and/or publish classified information in ... Athletes go head to head and give everything they can on the court, field, ring, e.t.c to win and beat their opponents and people love watching the competition. But what about off of the court in the locker room or in public after the game? There are many speculations of if these sports stars have the responsibility of setting a good example for the people that look up to them as role models. In a commercial in 1993, basketball star Charles Barkley stated, I m not paid to be a role model. I m paid to wreak havoc on the basketball court. This is true, however, many young children aspiring to be sports stars in the future cannot help but admire him and be like him in the future. Though some believe that sports stars should focus on the game and not care about how society sees them off of the court, I believe that they have the responsibility as people to be good role models for children. • 30. Rhetorical Questions In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning The poem My Last Duchess is a historical event that involves the Duke of Ferrara and Alfonso who lived in the 16th century. Robert Browning My Last Duchess presents a narrative about a recently widowed Duke who talks with an emissary had come to an arranged marriage with another lady from a powerful and wealthy family. In the perspective of Duke, power and wealth were integral in marriage and was determined to be married to a wealthy lady from a famous family. As the Duke orients the emissary through the palace, he stops and shows a portrait of the late Duchess who was a lovely and young girl. The Duke then begins by stating information about the picture and then to the Duchess. Duke claims that the Duchess flirted with everyone and did not appreciate the history of the family: gift of a nine hundred years old name. (33) However, when an individual continues to read the poem, it is evident that the Duke played an important role in killing the lady. Duke states that he gave commands; / Then all smiles stopped together (45 46) he used these words to define the death of his beloved Duchess. The aim of the essay is to analyze literary devices that emphasize the content of the poem, which includes rhetorical questions, exclamation mark, and em dash. Browning has used extensively rhetorical questions. Rhetorical questions are questions that are posted in a literary work that does not need an answer: the strategic aims of rhetorical questions are for emphasizing an issue or creating an object. Duke indicates the aspect of misogyny through stating Will t please you sit and look at her? I said. (5) This is not a suggestion but indicates an aspect of command especially when he completes the state with I said. Reading the poem shows that the Duke never appreciated women or had a negative perspective of women, which may have contributed to the death of Duchess. The approach taken is a form of objectification of women, which may have been right at the time but the current society frown about it. In addition, the Duke wants the reader to sympathize with him and he states A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, (22) indicating that he lacks the wording for his comments. With the reforms of the employment system, a new terminology of HRM cam to China in the mid 1980s (Warner 1999). Initially, HRM as an academic concept was introduced by joined teaching arrangements between Chinese and foreign universities, as well as in management practices in foreign owned enterprises, mainly from Japan, the USA and Europe (Warner 1995). I wish I were magical, but I am really just a poor ass reservation kid living with his poor ass family on the poor ass Spokane Indian Reservation (7). Junior identifies with his Caucasian side because he goes to an all white school and because of his intelligence. Petrified wood is not wood (84). Junior then goes on to explain how it works and the smartest kid in the class, Gordy, explains that he is right when the teacher doesn t believe him. Junior s Caucasian identity overpowers his Indian identity because Caucasians in general are more privileged and are smarter than the kids at Junior s old school, Welpinit. Based off many aspects of Junior s conditions and ethnic background, other people and Junior have expectations of what his future will look like. An internal expectation that Junior has of himself is that he will follow the continuing cycle of his family. He believes he ll never be able to go after his dreams in life and live on a reservation forever. But we reservation Indians don t get to realize our dreams. We don t get those chances. Or ... • 46. Essay On Retrograde Amnesia What is Retrograde Amnesia? Retrograde Amnesia is, being a common type of Amnesia, is the one most people are familiar with. Retrograde Amnesia is the loss of past memories. If someone falls and hits their head, the damage caused by that accident could cause the person to forget that the accident even occurred. For example, a friend once decided to try snowboarding, and did not learn how to stop before she went to the top of the hill. She went down, picking up speed, and did not notice the small cliff at the bottom until it was too late to turn away. She decided to fall so she would not go over the cliff, and while she was successful at that, she unfortunately hit her head on a patch of ice as she fell. She remained conscience, but lost not only the memory of the accident, she lost her memory of the entire week of the trip. Since this type of Amnesia usually happens when trauma occurs to the brain, it seems likely that the accident causes failure in the brains ability to retrieve information. Information is stored in many different parts of the brain, so retrieval must also be in more than one part to occur. When a blow occurs to the head, the brain essentially is bounced, from one end to the other. Since the brain is floating in fluid, typically damage occurs in more area s than where the hit actually happened. Because damage occurs to several parts of the brain, the risk ... • 47. Epiphany In Miss Brill As the story Miss Brill begins, Miss Brill comes across as a woman who has a childlike mind and is isolated from others around. She sits on a bench in the Jardins Publiques and her imagination makes the people around her become characters in the play . By the end of the short story Miss Brill it is shown that she doesn t have an epiphany. An epiphany is usually a sudden manifestation or perception of the essential nature or meaning of something. An intuitive grasp of reality through something (such as an event) usually simple and striking an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. Also known as a revealing scene or moment (Merriam webster.com). I believe Miss Brill fails to come to the realization of her isolation and loneliness. The first indication Miss Brill doesn t reach an epiphany was her childlike mind, and that is because to Miss Brill the fur is a person. She cherishes and speaks to the scarf as if it is a person. She says phrases like Dear little thing (82), What has happened to me (82), and ... Little Rogue (82). Her interactions with the fur helps her feel as if she isn t lonely. The fox fur gives her company and allows her to have a form of interaction that she doesn t have with the people who she sees in the park on her Sunday mornings. The fur is a distraction from Miss Brill s loneliness and her sense of isolation. It allows for her to be unaware of her life and what it has come to. The fur is one of her few cover ups to mask her from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gender roles date all the way back to the Industrial Revolution, which took place around the 19th century. Men did all the hard labor while the women looked after the cottages and cared for the children during this time, that was the gender norms back then. During World War 2 there were many deaths of men and this created a depression of workmen in the factories as the men had to leave their jobs and go fight in the war. Women started working in the factories but they were mainly the lower and middle class women, while the upper class women stayed at home and cared for their children. Women were allowed to work in the factories during World War 2 as the leaders said it was only temporary, this allowed the men not to get so uptight about the women coming in and working. Men were still the dominant sex at this time. It wasn t until 1948 when the Women s Armed Service Integration Act actually recognized women as a permanent part of the armed forces. This act had a huge impact on the women as it led to more equality between women and men. Many social gender norms were challenged through this time such as women served in the military and women were given jobs in the factories, this was never allowed before World War ... • 49. Intervention Plans Can Impact Health Care In Many Ways, Intervention plans can impact health care in many ways, but successful plans may provide a benefit to either patients, facilities, or both. Evaluation of an intervention plan is necessary to determine its effectiveness and the value of the intervention s impact in healthcare. In congestive heart failure (CHF) patients engaged through a telehealth program, the effectiveness of the plan revolves around the intervention components. Identifying outcomes and tools to measure the data obtained through the intervention will assist advanced practice nurses (APN) in identifying which aspects of the intervention provide the most benefit. The purpose of this paper is to describe methods to evaluate the effectiveness, identify short term, intermediate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a small study, symptom data was collected through a web application regarding symptoms of CHF that identified improvement of symptoms through self management (Dorsch, Farris, Bleske, Koelling, 2015). Utilizing the data collected in the telehealth program would provide clinicians with data on weight, blood pressure, medication use and oxygenation (Appendix A). In the CHF telehealth intervention, patients provide self care based on the provider instructions at discharge and through office visits. Studies have shown that self management is a major element of CHF management (Lee, Lennie, Warden, Jacobs Lawson, Moser, 2013). Patient perceived low QOL is a major predictor of mortality and evaluating the CHF telehealth interventions utilizing qualitative survey data will help guide any revisions in the plan of care (Hoekstra et al., 2013). The Minnesota living with heart failure questionnaire (MLHFQ) is a widely used tool in healthcare that assesses the patient s perception of the effects CHF has on their life (Munyombwe et al., 2014). Monitoring telehealth data and QOL survey components would provide data on improvement of CHF care both from a clinical perspective as well as from a patient perspective. Outcomes There are two main forms of data collection, formative and summative ( Building our understanding, n.d.). Formative data is obtained during the planning and implementation phase of a project whereas the summative data is obtained once the project is well ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
