Mayans, Aztecs And Mayan Civilizations
Did you know that the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas had very advanced civilizations? They all built great
cities and developed extremely advanced civilizations. Each developed a mathematical system, built
intricate buildings, and had some form of religion. They all were very prosperous before they came to
their conclusions. These civilizations were very advanced for their times. The Mayan Society and
Their Decline The Mayans had a very intricate and prosperous civilization. Suzanne Hopkins writes
They studied the stars and developed sophisticated and accurate calendars; practiced elaborate...
religious rituals... developed complex hieroglyphic writing... [and had] a mathematical system based
on the unit 20 ( Mayan Civilization 56). The Mayan society was strictly hierarchical, divided up into
social classes. First there was the king, then the nobles. Below the nobles was the middle class made
up of priests and commoners; slaves made up the lowest level. The society was prosperous until
around AD 800. The Mayans decline is thought to have been caused be the large growth in population.
There was not enough farmers or land to provide enough food for the communities. In the reading
Mayan Civilization by Suzanne Hopkins it says, Food production plummeted, and famine forced
people to leave the urban centers (57). By AD 950, the cities were mostly abandoned, swallowed up
by the jungle. However, the Mayan people were still around, dispersed across Central America; they

C-Arm Fluoroscopy
The purpose of this assignment is to find a topic in patient care that is significant in patient care in
radiography. Then review and summarize an article pertaining to this topic that was selected. Then it
will be connected to how it is valuable it is as a future radiographer and to professionals and how it is
relevant. The topic that will be discussed is the effect on radiation exposure in pediatric patients with c
arm fluoroscopy. This is because one of the most common radiographic procedures for pediatric
patients is fluoroscopy and it is important to lower their radiation dose as much as possible. C arm is
known to have high amounts of radiation to the patient and if a patient is exposed to radiation it
increases their risk for problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the class, it has been stressed that there is an importance to lower the radiation dose to the patient. It
is important to lower the dose of radiation because it reduces the chance of radiation induced
complications. It is the one of the priorities of a radiographer to reduce the radiation dose to the
patient. This article was informative of another way to reduce the dose to the patient. Radiation dose
for all patients should be reduced as much as possible because radiation does have harmful effects and
should be limited throughout a year. The project was done to determine if having a laser targeting
system would decrease the radiation dose by eliminating unintentional radiation prior to localizing the
region of interest (Schenk Johnston p. 39). The idea behind laser targeting was to limit and reduce the
time it took to do the procedure, by reducing time exposed to radiation it lowers the dose to the
patient. The laser aids the technologist in properly aligning the c arm in the desired position without
exposing the patient to radiation (Schenk Johnston p. 42). Before the radiation dose was higher
because the part of interest was located while radiation was occurring. Now to know that the laser can
locate the part of interest before exposing the patient to radiation will help allow me to reduce patient
dose if there is a laser with that particular fluoroscopic machine. Even though this experiment was
done using pediatric patients, it is relevant information for adult patients as well because it is
important to lower radiation dose regardless of age. This information will be helpful in the future
because fluoroscopy is a common procedure and if there is a laser available on the machine, it should
be utilized so radiographers and students can help reduce the radiation dose to that patient especially,
now that it was found to have some effect on

Fedex Corp. vs United Parcel Service, Inc Case Study
I. Executive Summary
In this report we focus on the two main competitors in the package delivery industry: Federal Express
Corporation (FedEx) and United Parcel Service of America, Inc.
Studying FedEx, UPS and their competitive relationship in the decade from mid 80 s to mid 90 s gives
a good insight for the companies and industry s future. The two companies have different strategic
goals and are operating in the same industry but in different main markets: FedEx is working on
producing outstanding financial returns and focuses on the overnight air market while UPS is looking
for earning reasonable profit and its core business is the two day ground delivery. However, by 1981,
the two companies started to have a strong sense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to that, FedEx came up with new services such as Saturday deliveries, delivery by 10:30
A.M., customer interfaces (drop boxes, drive through stations and express delivery stores) and same
day pickup of order. This is to distinguish its services. More on that, FedEx s philosophy of People
Service Profit was successful in insuring a union free workforce devoted to customer focus. In 1978,
deregulation in transportation helped FedEx to acquire larger planes therefore achieve lower cost.
Trade deregulation in Asia Pacific enabled FedEx to expand further. The acquisition of Gelco express,
Tiger International, and establishment of Airport Hub in Brussels expanded FedEx internationally.
Inflation and rising global competitiveness generated the need for just in time supply model, which
was the advantage supported by FedEx advanced technologies.
Some inhibiting factors were the competition that has heavily evolved as a number of competitors
(e.g. Emery, USPS, and UPS) entered the overnight delivery market as well as imitate other FedEx
new services. More on that, they were able to acquire similar IT solutions with lower costs and as a
result presented these services with cheaper prices. Moreover, in the attempt to expand internationally,
some acquisitions were over priced and revealed insufficient market studying. Europe low demand
that resulted in the shutting down of Brussels hub as well as Tiger international operations caused a
loss of $1 billion

Molecular Characterization of Brucella abortus from Cattle and Buffaloes Bovine brucellosis is a
contagious disease found worldwide particularly in developing countries (OIE 2000). It is caused by
Brucella abortus and is characterized by abortion in females and orchitis in males along with infertility
in both sexes. The commonly used conventional tests for diagnosis of brucellosis include rose bengal
plate test, serum tube agglutination test, complement fixation test and ELISA. However diagnostic
efficacy of these tests is questionable on individual basis mainly because of cross reacting antibodies.

Parental Pressure on Children Playing Organized Sports Essay
These days, there is too much pressure on children who participate in organized sports because of the
unnecessary parental involvement they experience. A growing concern amongst those involved in
youth sports is that certain aspects of parental involvement become detrimental to the development
and experiences of young athletes. Early emphasis on winning, making money, and the disruption of
education can exceedingly affect ones desire to further participate in a sport later on in his/her life.
With more and more children participating in some sort of organized sport than ever before, there is a
constant concern regarding the pressures kids are brought into to excel. Emotionally over involved
parents often think that it is their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, of course, the entire project collapsed. Drug addiction with its attendant legal and publicity
problems arrived, and the NFL career blew up. The kid went through rehab and came back, but
relapsed, and relapsed and relapsed again finally leaving sports all together. Tiger Woods, the
Williams sisters, and Todd Marinovich are all examples of kids who were mainly edged on by his/her
parent. Kids should not have to experience stress because of the pressure parents may put on them, nor
should they need to believe that a loss is unacceptable. There s just no reason why sports should have
any negative aspects at all. Especially when there are so many positive things that sports can do for a
child if introduced and carried out in the right way, specifically at a young age.
Over time, these youngsters may be permanently emotionally exhausted causing some to turn to
steroids in hope to gain an edge or perhaps give up on sports, and exercise, altogether. Intense training,
of coaches from club or travel teams, becomes an enticement to win the next season which may carry
on to the off season to train and become better than the best. But where s the fun in that? When will
kids have the time to try out other sports?

The Revolution Of The American Revolution
Every 4th of July, Americans are told the story of the American Revolution. We remember the
oppressed colonists fighting against the tyrannical King George III and the formidable red coats.
Patriotic heroes are remembered, evil kings are cursed, and the liberties and freedoms won from the
war are celebrated. Though America often likes to look back to the revolution, the question of just
how much a revolution was the American Revolution is rarely asked. While the American revolution
was not as radical of a revolution as we like to remember today, it still changed the political, social,
and ideological aspects substantially of the thirteen colonies. Americans deservedly have to rite to
remember the revolution, regardless to the fact of if there was true reason to start one, as a true full
fledged revolution.
To decide just how much of a revolution the American Revolution was, one has to first explain what a
revolution is. As defined by Princeton University, a revolution
The overthrow of a government by those who are governed
In accordance with this definition, for a protest to considered revolution, the established government
must be overthrown by the people it governs over. The American Revolution easily fulfills this
definition. The British government was overthrown by those it governed, the colonists. Since this
criteria is met, the American Revolution can be considered a technical revolution. But to understand of
just how much of a revolution the separation of

Charles Bukowski s Ham On Rye
Adolf Hitler wasn t always accepted and was an outcast when he was younger, which made him want
control of the world. There are literatures where characters express this need. Charles Bukowski s
book Ham on Rye presents the need for acceptance and control through the life of Henry Chinaski.
Every one wants to feel accepted, but most importantly being accepted by their family. Henry
Chinaski isn t accepted by his family and lives a life full of neglect. Henry is constantly getting beat
from his father. The strop landed once again. Then it stopped. I stood and waited. I heard him hanging
up the strop. Next time he said, I don t want to find any hairs (70). Henry s father doesn t appreciate
all of Henry s hard work of cutting the grass. Henry was beat by his father because he missed a few
hairs of grass. Henry s father never appreciates anything that Henry does. He said that he was going to
kill you! He said that no son of his could write like that and live under the same roof with him! (246).
Henry s father doesn t even appreciate what Henry loves. Usually a father supports what their son
loves and helps them accomplish their dream. Father s are typically proud of their children especially
when they have talent like writing. Henry s father see s Henry s writing as a disgrace. The lack of
appreciation from his parents gives Henry the feeling of neglect. We feel the neglect from his parent s
when he mentions, he was a stranger. My mother was non existent. I was

The Road Expressed Through Character Ideals Essay
The Road Expressed Through Character Ideals In today s world there has recently been an uprising
fixation towards literary works of fiction that depict a post apocalyptic setting. Some example of these
works would be the television series The Walking Dead, the movies World War Z and The Road.
However, even though the literary works use a post apocalyptic setting they illustrate several different
plots. For instance, The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a novel and a movie that seemingly takes place
in the United States after some cataclysmic disaster took place reducing the world to mostly fire and
ash. The story describes a man and his young son as they struggle on their journey south in attempt to
try and evade the oncoming cold that winter will surly bring. This book has been accredited with
several awards and many of McCarthy`s other writings have also been very well received. According
to an online article Cormac McCarthy was born on July 20, 1933 into a family of six children. He
joined the Air Force and attended the University of Tennessee where he meet his first wife and moved
to Chicago before his graduation.(Famousauthors.org) Despite struggles in his life McCarthy is still a
phenomenal author and does an amazing job at expressing themes and motifs through the characters in
his novels. The Road creates a deep multilevel understanding of the characters by demonstrating the
themes hope, survival, and integrity through the boy and the man so that we can comprehend the

How The Events Of 1984 Have Made Them Who They Are
1984
Chris McCloskey
Hillsborough Community College
October 27, 2014
Abstract. In these questions I will analyze the characters while focusing on how the events in 1984
have made them who they are. I will also discuss the types of conditioning in the book and give
examples of the conditioning. Then I will talk about some of the laws or regulations in the world today
that I find to be not constitutional. Finally I will define progressicism, socialism, communism and
Marxism, and who founded them.
1. The characters in 1984 are trained to be collectivists because they stride for social harmony and the
satisfaction in life is based on the success of the group as a whole. An example of this is everyone jobs
is to make sure that Oceania succeeds against East Asia. (Orwell)
2. The all of the characters that have conformed have the same personalities, they are all obedient.
However Winston and Julia are rebellious and stray from the norm. I do not think they have
psychological disorder because a psychological disorder is someone who deviates from the norm and
those who are found to do so are executed.
3. In the society there is both operant and classical conditioning. One example of operant conditioning
is when the prisoners are hung out in front of all the people to see in the streets and on the TVs. An
example of the classical conditioning is in the beginning of the book they showed the face of a trader
and everyone

Radon Essay
Radon
Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil, underground water, and
outdoor air. Some of the properties of this gas include being odorless, tasteless, and colorless. The
concentrations vary throughout the country depending on the types of rocks that are found in the soil.
Exposure over prolonged periods of time to radon decay products has been associated with an
increased risk of lung cancer.(3) The EPA describes an elevated concentration as being at or above
their suggested guidelines of 4pCi/l
(pico Curies per liter, used as a radiation unit of measure for radon).
Exposures below this level may create a risk of lung cancer, farther reductions to lower levels may be
too difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uranium and its by products of decay, namely radon are abundant and are constantly being generated.
(13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also found dissolved in
water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15)
Radon in Water
The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the water
must be heated or agitated to release the gas.
This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public
water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and
the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes
from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous
amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16)
Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from
the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at
the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at
removing the risk.(17)
Radon Entry
Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and
homes.

College Essay On Paying College Athletes
Paying College Athletes
Many people believe that college athletes should be paid for how much revenue they bring to their
school. However, there are also people who think they should not get paid because they already have
numerous advantages that other students do not have. Student athletes at the Division 1 level that play
men s basketball and football should not necessarily be paid a salary but should be able to make
money off of their accomplishments, especially if we hold them on a high pedestal as we do now. It
may seem unfair only to pay those who play men s basketball and football, but the reason why these
two sports are the most reasonable is that they bring in the most revenue for the schools out of the
major sports that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this, they say it would provide an unfair advantage to the other students if these athletes
get both a free education as well as get paid at the same time to play a sport (Yankah). Others say that
they are just kids and do not need that kind of financial pressure at such a young age. Furthermore,
athletes should not be paid because there just is not enough money in the school, and there would be
an uneven pay between sports based on general revenue (time). People even say that if the NCAA
were to pay athletes, it would take away from the importance of an education and these players would
not take their education seriously(lemmons). All these reasons and much more support why college
athletes should NOT be paid. However, there are just as many points to argue why they should be
paid. First of all, college athletes at the Division 1 level spend more than 43.3 hours per week to his
sport which is 3.3 more hours than the average American work week (Edelman). Secondly, while the
NCAA claims these athletes are just students, the NCAA s tournament schedules require college
athletes to miss classes for nationally televised games that bring in revenue (Edelman). Thirdly, the
play of teams and players can help bring in more students to the school. For example, the year that
Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie won the Heisman Trophy as the nation s outstanding college
football player, Boston College s

Nautical is a customized approach to cruising and will innovate the way cruise vacations are

impossible to compare across cruise lines. Each popular travel website that also has booking for other

Sensor Faults Essay
I. INTRODUCTION WITH the rapid development of sensor technique and its growing lower cost, a
great number of sensors are installed in modern industrial processes for measuring, monitoring and
controlling purpose. This inevitably increases the probability of sensor faults. Therefore, early
detection of sensor faults is essential to avoid performance degradation and damage to equipment.
Over the past decades, research on process monitoring and fault detection (PM FD) has attracted
considerable attention. Model based and data driven methods are two widely used types of FD
techniques [1] [4]. With the available data measurements, data driven methods attracts increasing

While the precision degradation fault disturbs the variance/covariance of process measurements.
Compared with the large amount of research work implicitly or explicitly focused on the detection of
sensor fault type with mean vector change [17], [18], the studies on sensor precision degradation are
relatively few [14], [19]. Qin et.al. [20] proposed a subspace identification model for detecting and
identifying faulty sensors, including precision degradation type of fault. Wan et.al. [21] studied the
diagnosis of sensor precision degradation in the presence of control by minimizing the disturbance
variance. Furthermore, the successful application of CCA based method constraints to the assumption
that the residual signal follows a Gaussian distribution. In practice, fault detection is much more
challenging when the processes with complicated non Gaussian [22]. To deal with non Gaussian
challenges, some variations of the existing MVA methods have been developed. Most of them first
estimate a signal distribution and then set a threshold based on the estimated distribution for FD
purpose. We refer these methods as distribution estimationbased method, such as Gaussian Mixture
Models (GMM) based approaches [23], [24], kernel based ones [25] and sequential quantile
estimation based ones [26]. Although these approaches have applied successfully in these complicated
processes, their performance in FD are commonly limited by the selection of kernel parameters and

Cyber Bullying Is Not A New Phenomenon
Producing Danger
Bullying in school is not a new phenomenon; it is as old as the education system. In texts as ancient as
the Bible examples are explicit and evident. Throughout the ages bullying has been a tragic and
catastrophic element that seems inevitable as it affects the lives of its victims. The fundamental
purpose of a school is to educate and coach children in their emotional, cognitive, civic, vocational,
and social development. On the contrary, however, schools are generating cutthroat, cruel, and isolated
environments as oppressive social hierarchies are formed to comply with stereotypical gender traits.
From ancient times to present day, bullying has always taken place. It may be delivered physically,
verbally, and now even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Story of Joseph, in the book of Genesis, struck me as a primeval example of bullying dating back
to 5th century BCE. Joseph was the 11th son of Jacob and was born to Jacob s favorite wife, Rachel.
At the age of 17, Joseph was a shepherd alongside 11 of his brothers. His father, Jacob, displayed
much more love to Joseph than any of his other sons, so much so that he gave Joseph a one of a kind
coat of many colors (Genesis 37:23). The other brothers were jealous of Joseph and distained him.
Joseph only further provoked this hatred when he told his brothers about two of his dreams he had of
the family. The brother s tolerance only lasted so long. When the brothers saw him alone in a field,
they plotted to kill him. When Joseph approached, they tore off his special coat and threw him into a
pit. His brother, Judah, came up with the idea to sell Joseph into slavery. The brothers then dipped his
coat into goat blood brought it back to Jacob. Jacob recognized the coat and concluded that a beast had
killed his son, while in reality; he was in a caravan heading towards Egypt.
There is no denying the raised awareness about bullying today than in past years. Although bullying
has always existed, only recently has it been systematically measured. It was only in the 1980 s when
Dan Olweus conducted initial studies on Norwegian and Swedish students. This account of

Student Retention Is A Growing Problem
Many colleges and universities throughout the United States and several other countries face a
common problem. Student retention is a growing problem across the nation for all ethnic groups and
all ages. Each individual who chooses to drop out of school has their own personal reasons as to why
they do. However, many drops out can be completely avoided. When students drop out they are not
clearly thinking about how it s going to affect their future, the future of their children and even
grandchildren. Although there are several reasons as to why students drop out of school, we will be
exploring a few as it relates to why student retention is a growing problem.
Transitioning into higher education presents challenges for all students, whether it s their age or
previous educational history. Numerous individuals are extremely nervous as they are entering into an
advanced environment such as higher education. This because college is a new learning environment
at a completely different level. However, freshmen find college to be difficult at first because it s
harder for them to adjust. That s why many universities should have student centers in place to help
students. Student centers give students the pathway for flexible learning as it results in being
successful in higher education (Baužienė Vosyliūtė 2015).
Lin and Tsai (2008) used a quantitative approach to understanding student retention; however, they
used their research to understand students loyalty. As fast as

there is a man there by the name of Norman Bates. Norman is not normal at all, he is struggling from a
multiperson disorder and inability to know wrong and right. He tells the Marion that his mother is
alive and living in the house but really she is dead, he had killed her previously. He goes into details to
Marion about his relationship with his dead mother. Marion, is very intrigued and happy to hear what
Norman has to say about his and his mother relationship, but tells Norman she needs to get herself

Daisy s Love Triangle In The Great Gatsby
The anger spreads like wildfire readers of F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby see that Daisy
Buchanan is going to stay with her cheating husband Tom Buchanan instead of leaving him for Jay
Gatsby. Where meeting Gatsby for the first time in many years, Daisy experiences what seems to be a
closer connection with Gatsby. A love triangle is then created between the three which leads to an
extraordinary argument between both Tom and Gatsby fighting over Daisy and later leading to the
death of Gatsby himself. Although many say Daisy should have not ended up with Tom and Gatsby
arguing that Daisy never loved Tom, she truly stayed with Tom due to him gaining his wealth from old
money and the impact society would have on her if she left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With this Daisy see s that Tom will always have his wealth to support her whenever it is needed. To
respond to the arguments Gatsby made, Tom first argues that Daisy Doesn t know what she s doing
(pg 138). This argument made by Tom is important in his argument since saying that about Daisy is
almost a snap back into reality for Daisy. By her hearing what Tom said, Daisy is able to realized that
maybe she really does not know what she is doing by having any thoughts about leaving for Gatsby
while she is married to Tom. After that being said, Tom goes on to expose Gatsby and his past secret
life and how I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him, and I wasn t far wrong (pg 140).
This argument made by Tom is his attempt to show how people whose wealth is new money, which is
what Gatsby qualifies under due to him earning his money through the new bootlegging business, is
not as respected as his own wealth coming from old money, which is what Tom qualifies under since
he was borned and raised in a wealthy family and has always had a source of wealth to live off from.
By Tom showing Daisy the bad connotation Gatsby s wealth contains, he would want Daisy to realize
how she is both better and safer off with Tom who is wealthy with old money and will always be
wealthy rather than Gatsby who earned his wealth in a shady way and might not always have a

Determination In Macbeth
Macbeth acquires many of the similar qualities existent within humans in society. In today s society, it
is commonly believed success comes to those striving to work the hardest, often sparking a possible
downfall.
As Winston Churchill once said, Success consists of going from failure to failure without the loss of
enthusiasm . Nowadays, it is often accepted ambition drives people to do things plainly for success.
Like Macbeth, our main value is simple determination. Macbeth employs the importance of time
along with overwhelming power through the state of determination. Macbeth s interference of power
remains consistent, as he yields to the suggestion, and makes the seated heart knock against the use of
nature (I.III.143 145). Shakespeare s

Comparison Of Edgar Allan Poe And Jacob s Story
Have you ever did something, then felt horrible later on?like guilty? Guilt is a horrible feeling, Even
more so if someone s life was ended by something you did. Edgar Allan Poe and W. W. Jacob s story s
both inform us how powerful guilt can be, in both, there s story s someone dies and there is an
extreme amount of guilt. In the monkeys paw, there s a home that house s three people, the mother, the
father, the son and the sergeant(the friend). One of the fathers old friend s comes to visit and tell
stories of his journey. He talks about the pyramids, interesting people, different states and many other
things over some drinks. The sergeant started telling a story about something called the monkey s paw,
which is what really peaked the father s interest. The sergeant said it would grant you three wishes, but
at a price. After the he finished his story the father asked to have it as a memento. The father s friend
knew there was no way he would drop it so the sergeant gave him the paw, but before letting go he
told him there were consequences if he used it. It was getting late and the sergeant had to leave. After
he left the son went to bed so he would be ready for work in the morning, but the father and mother
stayed up talking about the paw. A hour pasted and the father wished for money not thinking about
what bad may happen. I wish for two hundred pounds, said the old man distinctly. (part 1, W.W.
Jacobs). The next morning the son went to work at the saw mill like an ordinary day. the parents
laying in there yard reading a knitting were talking about how it didn t work and it was a tall tale when
out of the blue, the father and mother received a visit from a stranger that works with there son at the
mill. The stranger told the parents there was an accident at the mill. Both the father and mother
dropped there things and asked what happened and if there son was okay. He hesitated, but finally got
the courage to say the news. Your son had a accident working and passed away. said the stranger. The
mother started crying. The stranger handed them a bag of money. The stranger said he got donations
from all the workers to help with the funeral. Then it dawned on the father what had happened. He had

Soft Tissue Repair Case Study
Soft Tissue Repair Case Study: The Four Phase of Soft Tissue Healing and Therapeutic Interventions
that can be used to Aid Progression of Repair.
In this essay we will discuss the four different phases of the soft tissue healing process and also
explain all the components of each particular phase and how it functions. This will also include sport
therapeutic interventions that may contribute to the healing process and that may maximise healing of
soft tissue.
First Phase Bleeding
This particular phase is immediate and depending on the vascularity of the tissue that is damaged
although it only happens during the first few hours as demonstrated by (Watson, 2006) in this
illustration of the length of each phase.
The bleeding occurs following trauma to the tissue this could be an overload of a tissue or even
external force. One of the bodies first initial haemodynamic responses to bleeding is vasoconstriction
which narrows the blood vessels causing decreased blood velocity, in 2008 (Watson) states that this is
due to the release of noradrenaline(norepinephrine); the reaction last lasts only a few seconds to a
minute. It is also explained by (Terkeltaub Ginsberg, 1988) that both lymphatic and blood vessels are
plugged to limit any fluid loss and platelet, aggregation is stimulated by the presence of thrombin.
Vasoconstriction responds primarily to haemostasis which is a response to prevent blood loss and a
platelet plug is formed to support the prevention of excessive

Government Surveillance During The Modern Era
Big Brother Every day, nearly every single person communicates with each other electronically
whether it is via email, text or phone call. It is quite nearly impossible to go a day without using a cell
phone or personal computer; some cannot live without our internet connected devices. Through all of
this communication, there is a lot of very personal information is revealed without thinking about
whether or not there can or will be an impact of doing this. In June of 2013, the impact became
apparent when Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee, became a whistleblower and revealed mass
surveillance programs happening in the United States and other countries where the communications
of all citizens, and all the data therein, are being recorded and collected at all times (Snowden). While
some have been suspecting that this has been happening for years, this is the first time that concrete
evidence has been revealed to prove that government surveillance occurs in the modern era. This
revelation no doubt was controversial with many citizens feeling many different ways about it. The
popular street artist Banksy decided to do a piece about government surveillance where there are three
men with various recording equipment surrounding a phone booth and recording what is happening
within the phone booth. I believe that this art piece effectively points out the underlying problems with
both the very idea of government surveillance. Banksy s piece is found in Cheltenham, England and

1475 to a noble family in Florentine, Italy. At the age of only 13, Michelangelo was apprenticed to
Domenico Ghirlandaio, and placed him in a studio to learn the fundamentals of art. He only worked
there for about a year after Lorenzo de Medici invited him to his home to work as an artist for them.
One of the most renowned work from his teen years was the marble sculpture called The Madonna of

Magnificent, Michelangelo traveled to many places, one of them being Rome during the time of Pope
Alexander VI. In 1498, he was commissioned to

How Congestion Growth Affects Income Growth
Our primary interest is to identify how congestion growth affects income growth in a metropolitan
region. In Table 2 and 3, the results of the simultaneous equation models show that the coefficient
estimates for congestion growth are negative and significant at the 10% level. That is, congestion
growth has a negative effect on income growth in both 2000s and 1990s. Specifically, every one
percentage increase in congestion growth leads to a 0.07% and a 0.19% decrease in income growth
during 2000s and 1990s, respectively. As expected, the results show that congestion growth has a
negative effect on income growth. In addition, the initial condition of traffic congestion is negatively
associated with income growth in 1990s, meaning that higher levels of initial traffic congestion
negatively affects household income. However, it is not statistically significant in 2000s.
The coefficient estimate for the employment growth is statistically positive at the 1% level in 1990s.
Specifically, all else being equal, every one percentage increase in employment growth leads to a
0.60% increase in income growth during the period. This result supports notion that employment
growth raises wages and thus produce positive wage growth (Lewis, et al., 2002). This is because
positive employment growth provides more available jobs, which attracts job seekers. Increased
population affects employment by increasing demand and services and providing a larger workforce
as well. Such shifts in regions

Single Parent Vs. Two Parent Homes
Single parent vs. two parent homes and the effect it has on their child s viability, intimacy and conflict
in their intimate relationships.
Introduction
Several years ago mothers normally stayed in the home with their children while the fathers took on
the role as sole provider. Family life has changed dramatically over the years. Most families now
being dual income families where both the mother and father work, today it is much more common to
see a child being raised by an outside caregiver or a single parent than it was just 40 years ago.
Although this is more widely accepted than it once was, what are the effects on the children? Does the
family structure make a difference in a how a child grows up and adapts to the world? Furthermore
does is effect their future intimate relationships with other people as adults?
Terms/Definitions
Within this paper the are key terms that have been identified as the following:
Single Parent homes are defined as families in which either the father or mother is absent because of
divorce, marital separation, out of wedlock pregnancy, or death (Greenberg, 2002: 329).
Marriage: a social construct in the form of a formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized
by law, by which they become husband and wife.

Palliative Care And Hospice Care
Introduction
Palliative care seems to be a grey area of nursing. Nursing for many years has been thought of as a
healing process, aiding people to their healthiest place. Palliative care is also known as comfort care,
should not be confused with hospice care. Both palliative care and hospice care provide comfort. But
palliative care can begin at diagnosis, and at the same time as treatment. Hospice care begins after
treatment of the disease is stopped and when it is clear that the patient is not going to survive the
illness. Hospice care is usually offered only when the person is expected to live 6 months or less
(National Institute of Health 2015). Palliative care specialized for children will be the focus of this
paper.

Competitive baseball became popular in the United States in the mid 1800s and is now one of the
leading sports in America. With the design of the field and the job of the players, this sport s positions
primarily make up a defensive team. During the game, it becomes a one man offense for each hitter.
Overall, defensive positions can be broken up into 3 different types: the battery, infielders, and
outfielders. The battery consists of the pitcher and catcher, their job is to coordinate the pitch to ensure
a strike or miss for the batter. The infielders consist of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd basemen, and shortstop. The
first baseman should excel in being able to stretch/reach for the catch so that the opponent gets out.

The Characteristics Of Being An Honorable And Honest...
I believe that to accomplish something great in life is what most people strive to reach in their lives.
Having the courage to be an honorable and honest person is an amazing quality to have. You may ask
why is it so hard to be honest, well I feel it takes courage and honorability to stand alone and fight for
what is right. Believing and fighting for what is right for me is very courageous and for many people
that is very frightening and they sometimes prefer to stay quiet and not do anything.
In the poem, Beowulf, he was a brave warrior, a hero to the people. His honorability was so great he
had faith and believed in God. Beowulf saved the people from the monstrous Grendel when he was
terrorizing the town. I think honor is one of the characteristics that Beowulf has. An honorable person
is one who is deserving of respect. (Lynne Bratcher)It is very hard to be honorable and honest in a
world of competition, where most everyone lies and betrays each other. It takes a very strong person,
not physically but mentally and emotionally as well to be honest and honorable. Having faith and
wanting to do good by God are what makes us do the right things. Speaking the truth when everyone
else disagrees, it can sometimes be very frightening and hard for us to do because of the fear of being
rejected by others. Being loyal and helping others without accepting nothing back in return makes us
honorable.
Beowulf was a brave and courageous warrior, defeating three terrifying monsters with his bare
hands.Walking into the layer of the monster had to be very terrifying but, Beowulf courageously went
into it and behead Grendel s mother. (Heaney)Fearless and daring can guide you to be courageous and
to move in a dangerous situation. What makes a person so brave and courageous? Was is because he
was big and extremely strong? Being courageous does not mean you have to be strong, but having
heart. Moving in the face of danger. (Martha Pasternak)Having passion about what is being done, even
if it means it would be dangerous and even fatal. There are many brave and courageous people out
there in today s society. A firefighter that goes into a burning building to save a person or a police
officer that puts his or her life in the line for

How Healthy Are The Youth Of Today s Population
How healthy are the youth of today s population? With the rise in childhood obesity, the lack of
prenatal care for expecting mothers, and lack of coverage for many Americans there is a need to
evaluate the health of our youth and the availability of services and education. The current youth are
the future workforce of the nation. Lessening the risk of chronic illness, obesity, and stabilizing
environmental conditions will allow the upcoming generation to help build a stronger economy. A
stronger workforce, a healthier society with less medical cost strain, and a healthier environment are
all gains to be had through improvements and health education. Community outreach programs,
healthy lifestyles, and ensuring vaccine availability for all children are a few simple steps to
developing healthy generation. Per Maya Rossin Slater in her article Promoting Health in Early
Childhood, Children who are healthy early in life from conception to age five not only grow up to be
healthier adults, they are also better educated, earn more, and contribute more to the economy . It is no
secret that the current healthcare system in the United States lags in comparison to other countries.
America has the most expensive system and still the sickest population. We allocate trillions of dollars
to the health care services and only a fraction to population wide services. Just as there is not an even

Earthquakes, They Destroy, Kill, And Demolish
Earthquakes, they destroy, kill, and demolish. Earthquakes have been recorded for a long time.
Records have been and always will continue to be recorded for centuries. Earthquakes are recorded by
instruments called seismographs. The recording that they make is called a seismogram. These drum
sized tubes of decades of earthquakes are more than likely stored in science labs. Earthquakes
however, are the releasing of stored energy from plate tectonics. Plate tectonics is the study of 7
massive pieces of rock called continents. They build up energy from pressurized rock that is pushed
against each other. When it releases it is like ripples in the water but those ripples are about 10 times
the size, plus the waves can go through the earth and hit outer parts of the earth on the other side. Yet,
because of different types of materials, the waves will never pass straight through the earth. The thing
that powers plate tectonics is convection currents.
The crust (the farthest and the outer est layer of the earth and the one we know and love because it is
helping us not to die) and the upper part of the mantle (that is a loll squid of different density and
different types of metals) make up the lithosphere. It also holds up the plate boundarys where Pangaea
split into 7 massive pieces of rock. The three different types of plate boundaries are convergent
boundarys, divergent boundarys, and transform boundarys.
What happens at a convergent boundary is the plates push directly against

Acid Base Balance Research Paper
Abstract
In this essay I will be discussing four conditions: respiratory acidosis, respiratory alkalosis, metabolic
acidosis and metabolic alkalosis. I will be defining each condition by including the levels of PCO2 or
HCO3 and the pH levels, common causes for each condition, the compensatory mechanism for each
condition, treatment mechanisms for each condition, and how older age may compromise the acid
base balance processes.
Acid Base Balances and Fluids and Electrolytes
This is the most common challenge to acid base balance develops when the respiratory system can t
eliminate all the CO2 generated by the peripheral tissues. CO2 is the single biggest influence on acid
base balance in the body, because it is generated as a metabolic waste product 24/7 by virtually every

The main cause of acid base imbalance is production of lactic acid from strenuous activity. Other
organic acids produced through metabolic activities, like the generation of carbon dioxide and its
transport in the blood. A less common cause would be reduced ability to excrete H+ at the kidneys a
drop in bicarbonate ions (HCO3 ) impairs the normal buffering ability of the carbonic acid bicarbonate
system; severe diarrhea can compromise this system, with HCO3 (which would normally be recovered
from the digestive tract. Many digestive secretions have bicarbonate ion in them being lost in the feces
rather than recovered physicians need to look at the causes of the acidosis. In severe cases requiring
treatment, the person receives respiratory assistance, and isotonic IV s with sodium lactate, sodium
gluconate or sodium bicarbonate. These compounds can act as buffers, lowering the pH of the body s
fluids). Respiratory and metabolic acidosis can be linked, as in a near drowning, when PO2 is low,
PCO2 is high, and the struggling person generated a lot of lactic acid in their oxygen starved tissues. (

Proposal For Changes to the Sustainment Pre-Command Course...
The Mission of the Army Logistics Management College (ALMC), now referred to as the Army
Logistics University (ALU) at Fort Lee, VA is to enhance the readiness and sustainability of United
States Forces through training, education, consulting and research in Logistics, Acquisition and
Operations Research Systems Analysis. In joint with the ALU, the Sustainment Center of Excellence
(SCoE) runs eight different versions of battalion and brigade level pre command branch or technically
focused courses. Five of them are conducted at ALU; one of those five course that ALU is responsible
for offering is the resident 2 week Sustainment Pre Command Course (SPCC). The SPCC was once
taught at each individual Army branch school. In 1993, ALU was ... Show more content on

This is due to various organizational shifts, as the design of the courses change every time a new
General takes command at Fort Lee and decisions based on lackluster after action reviews (AAR). The
POI for the SPCC does not reflect the change in scheduled location and needs to be updated, therefore,
a broad spectrum POI should be created and recommendations should be made in order to gain more
positive AARs. Project Description In support of my capstone project, I assessed and will submit a
redesigned proposal with developmental recommendations for reformation of a solid POI for the
SPCC that takes place at the Army Logistics University. In this, I have identified the foremost purpose
for this redesign as the following: The investment in the education and training of rising leadership is
vital to the long term success of our sustainment support staff and the services provided. With this
course providing training in modular force operations for newly selected command designees that
enables them to function effectively throughout their command tour it is very important to make sure
that the training is substantive. Therefore the main focus is to assure that training is current and
emerging sustainment doctrine and leadership topics for commanders on the National Guard,
Reservist and Active Duty levels is most essential. The target audience of this redesign includes
commissioned officers in grades 0 5 (Lieutenant Colonel) or 0 6

The Pros And Cons Of Executive Compensationation
According to Garen (1994) executive compensation is a classical solution of the principal agent
problem in which the separation of ownership and control is the main issue. He explains in his paper
that in every business there are different parties involved with different interests and goals, and the
theory describes the relationship between two parties, principal and agent, where the principal passes
the task to the agent. In this case the CEO is the agent and the principal is the shareholder of a firm.
The attitude of the CEO in a firm is different than that of the shareholders; therefore shareholders
provide equity compensation and other awards to align the interests. According to Jensen and
Meckling (1976) the reduction of the agency conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several types of equity compensations with variety of impacts on the agents. The stock
compensations and stock options compensations are the most prominent ones. The stock
compensations are awards provided to the agents in stocks of the firms, in this way the shareholders
reward agents by awarding them a part of the equity of the firm. Balsam and Miharjo (2007) have the
belief that stock compensation provides direct link between executive compensation and shareholders
wealth and therefore the interests of a firm s CEO s with those of its shareholders. Therefore, this type
of executive compensation is very effective in aligning the principal and agent s interest. However,
stock compensation has negative side effects, such as an increase in risk aversion of CEO s. By
providing more stocks to a CEO, the risk attitude of CEO in a firm becomes different than that of the
shareholders: whereas CEO s will be loyal with most of their capital to their corporations trying to
avoid risk while shareholders aim is to maximize their gains, and prefer more risk taking operations.
Therefore, it is very important to provide the right executive compensation to motivate agent (CEO s
or executives) to act in the best interest of the principal (shareholders, debtholders) to mitigate the
agency problem created by the provision of the stock

  • 2. Mayans, Aztecs And Mayan Civilizations Did you know that the Mayans, Aztecs, and Incas had very advanced civilizations? They all built great cities and developed extremely advanced civilizations. Each developed a mathematical system, built intricate buildings, and had some form of religion. They all were very prosperous before they came to their conclusions. These civilizations were very advanced for their times. The Mayan Society and Their Decline The Mayans had a very intricate and prosperous civilization. Suzanne Hopkins writes They studied the stars and developed sophisticated and accurate calendars; practiced elaborate... religious rituals... developed complex hieroglyphic writing... [and had] a mathematical system based on the unit 20 ( Mayan Civilization 56). The Mayan society was strictly hierarchical, divided up into social classes. First there was the king, then the nobles. Below the nobles was the middle class made up of priests and commoners; slaves made up the lowest level. The society was prosperous until around AD 800. The Mayans decline is thought to have been caused be the large growth in population. There was not enough farmers or land to provide enough food for the communities. In the reading Mayan Civilization by Suzanne Hopkins it says, Food production plummeted, and famine forced people to leave the urban centers (57). By AD 950, the cities were mostly abandoned, swallowed up by the jungle. However, the Mayan people were still around, dispersed across Central America; they are still ... • 3. C-Arm Fluoroscopy The purpose of this assignment is to find a topic in patient care that is significant in patient care in radiography. Then review and summarize an article pertaining to this topic that was selected. Then it will be connected to how it is valuable it is as a future radiographer and to professionals and how it is relevant. The topic that will be discussed is the effect on radiation exposure in pediatric patients with c arm fluoroscopy. This is because one of the most common radiographic procedures for pediatric patients is fluoroscopy and it is important to lower their radiation dose as much as possible. C arm is known to have high amounts of radiation to the patient and if a patient is exposed to radiation it increases their risk for problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the class, it has been stressed that there is an importance to lower the radiation dose to the patient. It is important to lower the dose of radiation because it reduces the chance of radiation induced complications. It is the one of the priorities of a radiographer to reduce the radiation dose to the patient. This article was informative of another way to reduce the dose to the patient. Radiation dose for all patients should be reduced as much as possible because radiation does have harmful effects and should be limited throughout a year. The project was done to determine if having a laser targeting system would decrease the radiation dose by eliminating unintentional radiation prior to localizing the region of interest (Schenk Johnston p. 39). The idea behind laser targeting was to limit and reduce the time it took to do the procedure, by reducing time exposed to radiation it lowers the dose to the patient. The laser aids the technologist in properly aligning the c arm in the desired position without exposing the patient to radiation (Schenk Johnston p. 42). Now to know that the laser can locate the part of interest before exposing the patient to radiation will help allow me to reduce patient dose if there is a laser with that particular fluoroscopic machine. Even though this experiment was done using pediatric patients, it is relevant information for adult patients as well because it is important to lower radiation dose regardless of age. Executive Summary In this report we focus on the two main competitors in the package delivery industry: Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) and United Parcel Service of America, Inc. Studying FedEx, UPS and their competitive relationship in the decade from mid 80 s to mid 90 s gives a good insight for the companies and industry s future. The two companies have different strategic goals and are operating in the same industry but in different main markets: FedEx is working on producing outstanding financial returns and focuses on the overnight air market while UPS is looking for earning reasonable profit and its core business is the two day ground delivery. We remember the oppressed colonists fighting against the tyrannical King George III and the formidable red coats. Patriotic heroes are remembered, evil kings are cursed, and the liberties and freedoms won from the war are celebrated. Though America often likes to look back to the revolution, the question of just how much a revolution was the American Revolution is rarely asked. While the American revolution was not as radical of a revolution as we like to remember today, it still changed the political, social, and ideological aspects substantially of the thirteen colonies. Americans deservedly have to rite to remember the revolution, regardless to the fact of if there was true reason to start one, as a true full fledged revolution. To decide just how much of a revolution the American Revolution was, one has to first explain what a revolution is. The Road Expressed Through Character Ideals Essay The Road Expressed Through Character Ideals In today s world there has recently been an uprising fixation towards literary works of fiction that depict a post apocalyptic setting. Some example of these works would be the television series The Walking Dead, the movies World War Z and The Road. However, even though the literary works use a post apocalyptic setting they illustrate several different plots. For instance, The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a novel and a movie that seemingly takes place in the United States after some cataclysmic disaster took place reducing the world to mostly fire and ash. The story describes a man and his young son as they struggle on their journey south in attempt to try and evade the oncoming cold that winter will surly bring. In these questions I will analyze the characters while focusing on how the events in 1984 have made them who they are. I will also discuss the types of conditioning in the book and give examples of the conditioning. Then I will talk about some of the laws or regulations in the world today that I find to be not constitutional. Finally I will define progressicism, socialism, communism and Marxism, and who founded them. 1. The characters in 1984 are trained to be collectivists because they stride for social harmony and the satisfaction in life is based on the success of the group as a whole. An example of this is everyone jobs is to make sure that Oceania succeeds against East Asia. (Orwell) 2. The all of the characters that have conformed have the same personalities, they are all obedient. However Winston and Julia are rebellious and stray from the norm. I do not think they have psychological disorder because a psychological disorder is someone who deviates from the norm and those who are found to do so are executed. 3. In the society there is both operant and classical conditioning. One example of operant conditioning is when the prisoners are hung out in front of all the people to see in the streets and on the TVs. (13) Radon is capable of easily traveling through rocks and soil.(14) The gas is also found dissolved in water, due to decay in the soil or rock below.(15) Radon in Water The risk from radon in water is much lower than the risk from radon in air. This is because the water must be heated or agitated to release the gas. This can happen in a shower, boiling water on a stove, or by using a washing machine. Most public water supplies don t present a radon risk, this is because the water is aerated at the treatment site and the gas escapes into the atmosphere. Most water that contains hazardous amounts of radon comes from wells. Wells should be tested for radon if the building that they are supplying contains hazardous amounts in the air. The testing procedures for water are different from those used on air.(16) Water containing radon can usually be treated. The most effective treatment is to remove radon from the water before it enters the home, this is called point of entry treatment. Water can also be treated at the tap, this is known as point of use treatment. However this treatment is much less effective at removing the risk.(17) Radon Entry Radon travels through the ground and into the air, allowing the gas to easily enter buildings and homes. ... Furthermore, athletes should not be paid because there just is not enough money in the school, and there would be an uneven pay between sports based on general revenue (time). People even say that if the NCAA were to pay athletes, it would take away from the importance of an education and these players would not take their education seriously(lemmons). Secondly, while the NCAA claims these athletes are just students, the NCAA s tournament schedules require college athletes to miss classes for nationally televised games that bring in revenue (Edelman). INTRODUCTION WITH the rapid development of sensor technique and its growing lower cost, a great number of sensors are installed in modern industrial processes for measuring, monitoring and controlling purpose. This inevitably increases the probability of sensor faults. Therefore, early detection of sensor faults is essential to avoid performance degradation and damage to equipment. Over the past decades, research on process monitoring and fault detection (PM FD) has attracted considerable attention. Model based and data driven methods are two widely used types of FD techniques [1] [4]. With the available data measurements, data driven methods attracts increasing attention. Compared with the large amount of research work implicitly or explicitly focused on the detection of sensor fault type with mean vector change [17], [18], the studies on sensor precision degradation are relatively few [14], [19]. Qin et.al. [20] proposed a subspace identification model for detecting and identifying faulty sensors, including precision degradation type of fault. Wan et.al. Furthermore, the successful application of CCA based method constraints to the assumption that the residual signal follows a Gaussian distribution. Most of them first estimate a signal distribution and then set a threshold based on the estimated distribution for FD purpose. We refer these methods as distribution estimationbased method, such as Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) based approaches [23], [24], kernel based ones [25] and sequential quantile estimation based ones [26]. His father, Jacob, displayed much more love to Joseph than any of his other sons, so much so that he gave Joseph a one of a kind coat of many colors (Genesis 37:23). First Phase Bleeding This particular phase is immediate and depending on the vascularity of the tissue that is damaged although it only happens during the first few hours as demonstrated by (Watson, 2006) in this illustration of the length of each phase. The bleeding occurs following trauma to the tissue this could be an overload of a tissue or even external force. One of the bodies first initial haemodynamic responses to bleeding is vasoconstriction which narrows the blood vessels causing decreased blood velocity, in 2008 (Watson) states that this is due to the release of noradrenaline(norepinephrine); the reaction last lasts only a few seconds to a minute. It is also explained by (Terkeltaub Ginsberg, 1988) that both lymphatic and blood vessels are plugged to limit any fluid loss and platelet, aggregation is stimulated by the presence of thrombin. Vasoconstriction responds primarily to haemostasis which is a response to prevent blood loss and a platelet plug is formed to support the prevention of excessive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 25. Government Surveillance During The Modern Era Big Brother Every day, nearly every single person communicates with each other electronically whether it is via email, text or phone call. It is quite nearly impossible to go a day without using a cell phone or personal computer; some cannot live without our internet connected devices. Through all of this communication, there is a lot of very personal information is revealed without thinking about whether or not there can or will be an impact of doing this. In June of 2013, the impact became apparent when Edward Snowden, a former CIA employee, became a whistleblower and revealed mass surveillance programs happening in the United States and other countries where the communications of all citizens, and all the data therein, are being recorded and collected at all times (Snowden). While some have been suspecting that this has been happening for years, this is the first time that concrete evidence has been revealed to prove that government surveillance occurs in the modern era. This revelation no doubt was controversial with many citizens feeling many different ways about it. The popular street artist Banksy decided to do a piece about government surveillance where there are three men with various recording equipment surrounding a phone booth and recording what is happening within the phone booth. I believe that this art piece effectively points out the underlying problems with both the very idea of government surveillance. Banksy s piece is found in Cheltenham, England and ... • 30. How Congestion Growth Affects Income Growth Our primary interest is to identify how congestion growth affects income growth in a metropolitan region. In Table 2 and 3, the results of the simultaneous equation models show that the coefficient estimates for congestion growth are negative and significant at the 10% level. That is, congestion growth has a negative effect on income growth in both 2000s and 1990s. Specifically, every one percentage increase in congestion growth leads to a 0.07% and a 0.19% decrease in income growth during 2000s and 1990s, respectively. As expected, the results show that congestion growth has a negative effect on income growth. In addition, the initial condition of traffic congestion is negatively associated with income growth in 1990s, meaning that higher levels of initial traffic congestion negatively affects household income. However, it is not statistically significant in 2000s. The coefficient estimate for the employment growth is statistically positive at the 1% level in 1990s. Specifically, all else being equal, every one percentage increase in employment growth leads to a 0.60% increase in income growth during the period. This result supports notion that employment growth raises wages and thus produce positive wage growth (Lewis, et al., 2002). This is because positive employment growth provides more available jobs, which attracts job seekers. Increased population affects employment by increasing demand and services and providing a larger workforce as well. Such shifts in regions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Characteristics Of Being An Honorable And Honest... I believe that to accomplish something great in life is what most people strive to reach in their lives. Having the courage to be an honorable and honest person is an amazing quality to have. You may ask why is it so hard to be honest, well I feel it takes courage and honorability to stand alone and fight for what is right. Believing and fighting for what is right for me is very courageous and for many people that is very frightening and they sometimes prefer to stay quiet and not do anything. In the poem, Beowulf, he was a brave warrior, a hero to the people. His honorability was so great he had faith and believed in God. Beowulf saved the people from the monstrous Grendel when he was terrorizing the town. I think honor is one of the characteristics that Beowulf has. An honorable person is one who is deserving of respect. (Lynne Bratcher)It is very hard to be honorable and honest in a world of competition, where most everyone lies and betrays each other. It takes a very strong person, not physically but mentally and emotionally as well to be honest and honorable. Having faith and wanting to do good by God are what makes us do the right things. Speaking the truth when everyone else disagrees, it can sometimes be very frightening and hard for us to do because of the fear of being rejected by others. Being loyal and helping others without accepting nothing back in return makes us honorable. Beowulf was a brave and courageous warrior, defeating three terrifying monsters with his bare hands.Walking into the layer of the monster had to be very terrifying but, Beowulf courageously went into it and behead Grendel s mother. (Heaney)Fearless and daring can guide you to be courageous and to move in a dangerous situation. What makes a person so brave and courageous? Was is because he was big and extremely strong? Being courageous does not mean you have to be strong, but having heart. Moving in the face of danger. (Martha Pasternak)Having passion about what is being done, even if it means it would be dangerous and even fatal. There are many brave and courageous people out there in today s society. With the rise in childhood obesity, the lack of prenatal care for expecting mothers, and lack of coverage for many Americans there is a need to evaluate the health of our youth and the availability of services and education. The current youth are the future workforce of the nation. Lessening the risk of chronic illness, obesity, and stabilizing environmental conditions will allow the upcoming generation to help build a stronger economy. A stronger workforce, a healthier society with less medical cost strain, and a healthier environment are all gains to be had through improvements and health education. Community outreach programs, healthy lifestyles, and ensuring vaccine availability for all children are a few simple steps to developing healthy generation. Per Maya Rossin Slater in her article Promoting Health in Early Childhood, Children who are healthy early in life from conception to age five not only grow up to be healthier adults, they are also better educated, earn more, and contribute more to the economy . Records have been and always will continue to be recorded for centuries. Earthquakes are recorded by instruments called seismographs. The recording that they make is called a seismogram. These drum sized tubes of decades of earthquakes are more than likely stored in science labs. Earthquakes however, are the releasing of stored energy from plate tectonics. Plate tectonics is the study of 7 massive pieces of rock called continents. They build up energy from pressurized rock that is pushed against each other. When it releases it is like ripples in the water but those ripples are about 10 times the size, plus the waves can go through the earth and hit outer parts of the earth on the other side. Yet, because of different types of materials, the waves will never pass straight through the earth. The thing that powers plate tectonics is convection currents. The crust (the farthest and the outer est layer of the earth and the one we know and love because it is helping us not to die) and the upper part of the mantle (that is a loll squid of different density and different types of metals) make up the lithosphere. It also holds up the plate boundarys where Pangaea split into 7 massive pieces of rock. Acid Base Balances and Fluids and Electrolytes This is the most common challenge to acid base balance develops when the respiratory system can t eliminate all the CO2 generated by the peripheral tissues. The Pros And Cons Of Executive Compensationation According to Garen (1994) executive compensation is a classical solution of the principal agent problem in which the separation of ownership and control is the main issue. He explains in his paper that in every business there are different parties involved with different interests and goals, and the theory describes the relationship between two parties, principal and agent, where the principal passes the task to the agent. In this case the CEO is the agent and the principal is the shareholder of a firm. There are several types of equity compensations with variety of impacts on the agents. The stock compensations and stock options compensations are the most prominent ones. The stock compensations are awards provided to the agents in stocks of the firms, in this way the shareholders reward agents by awarding them a part of the equity of the firm. Balsam and Miharjo (2007) have the belief that stock compensation provides direct link between executive compensation and shareholders wealth and therefore the interests of a firm s CEO s with those of its shareholders. Therefore, this type of executive compensation is very effective in aligning the principal and agent s interest. However, stock compensation has negative side effects, such as an increase in risk aversion of CEO s. By providing more stocks to a CEO, the risk attitude of CEO in a firm becomes different than that of the shareholders: whereas CEO s will be loyal with most of their capital to their corporations trying to avoid risk while shareholders aim is to maximize their gains, and prefer more risk taking operations.
