Theory Of Evaluator s Practice
Theory in Evaluator s Practice
Evaluation theory is a broad term, there are many different theories and models to follow in an
evaluation. An evaluator can pick any when doing an evaluation, however each as a ground
framework they start with. That starting theory can show up when they first begin an evaluation.
However the evaluation determines the theory used to best address the problem or program being
evaluated. I interviewed an evaluator, Person A, who explained that every evaluation and assessment
is unique, so her approach was holistic to try to see every necessary variable and she used mix and
match theories she knew to best address the current issues, sometimes changing models when
necessary. For the start of planning an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses her training in education to examine data from assessments to identify weak spot in services
and programs to create evaluation in improving these. She has learned how evaluation data can be
applied and the importance of applying it to make improvements and identifying weak spots in
services or programs. While she has experience in doing many types of evaluations like process,
outcomes and impact, she prefers to do process and impact evaluations to create change or
improvements and track their progress.
One example of a process evaluation she does is to find out student satisfaction of services and to
address any inefficiencies. Last year a survey was emailed to students who used the service at the end
of the year. Some strengths of this evaluation was their data collection and survey method were more
efficient after upgrading from paper to electronic resources. With an emailed survey they got a higher
response rate than using paper surveys. However the response rate was still low since the survey was
sent out once at the end of the year. Person A wanted a higher response rate, so she implemented a
change by sending out the survey to students shortly after they used the service so she will
continuously collect data and be able to analyze it at the end of each semester. More students have
replied since the survey was sent out right after their use instead of asking them about

Acromegaly
I. Introduction The human body contains various structures and organs that allow regulations and
maintenance of homeostasis. Foundation is built through the framework of the skeletal system, motion
is possible due to the muscular system humans have and other body systems that allow humans to
perform daily actions. All of this anatomical structures are possible due to the two main controlling
system found in the body; the nervous system and endocrine system. The nervous system can be
considered as information processor of the human body, but for it to be more effective in transferring
and processing information; it works in tandem with the endocrine system. The purpose of the
endocrine system is to act in response to the information the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Topic Hormone Growth hormone or somatotropin is the hormone involved in the disorder of
acromegaly. Produced by somatotrophs in the anterior pituitary gland, it functions as a metabolic
hormone and determinant of body size. Growth hormones functions mainly on growth effects but it
also has other aiding purpose in different parts of the body such as mobilization of fats, blood level
increase, glycogen breakdown and more. The chemical nature of this hormone is protein based, hence
the name somatotropin. It is originally made in the hypothalamus where it is secreted, then passes
through the anterior pituitary gland before it enters the bloodstream. It is regulated through negative
feedback, inhibiting the release of growth hormones when the amount in the bloodstream is high
already. In terms of target tissues, it is very general, pretty much all the bone structure and most of the
muscular system is affected by the growth hormone. It also has a very short half life, ranging from
twenty to thirty minutes. Typically, growth hormones are secreted the most during sleep; however, it
decreases with age. Growth hormones cannot be naturally conjugated due to its own ability to inhibit
its release when it is too much in the body already. IV. Mechanism of Action Normal Effect of Growth
Hormone The release of growth hormone in the body is due to two hormones that has antagonistic
effects found in the hypothalamus. Growth hormone releasing hormone or GHRH activates

Love And Lust In Play By Play
Lust is an incredibly strong feeling that can prove to be almost uncontrollable, leading it to commonly
be mistaken for love. Due to the relative closeness of these emotions, both are often confused, and
even when one is in love he or she does not recognize it. Many think that love just comes knocking on
one s door and one will know when it does, but they don t realize that for love to occur a relationship
has must be worked out. Love is described by some as fireworks, tingles, and butterflies in the
stomach; but it is lust that can cause these things to happen, and it is these that mark only the
beginning of a relationship. After a while, these feelings die out, and this is when the honeymoon
period is over; it is from this point on that the relationship will either end or get stronger and
eventually lead to true love.
Lust is the main idea behind the poem Play By Play by Joan Murray. The tale being told is of older
women well past their sixties admiring much younger men playing softball from up on a terrace over
looking the field. The women are gawking at

further review, one can see how Olds really portrays these people. She describes them as being

very religious, and in tune with their bodies much like great runners are. The characters in the poem
are depicted as athletes, agile and ready to compete, much like how the narrator, who talks so highly
of them, wants to be. However, once again, only the emotion of lust is present in this piece, and there
is no confusion between love and

The Way Out Of The Big Apple
Worm your way out of the Big Apple, drive one hundred miles east, and you ll find yourself gazing
out at the question mark that dots the end of Long Island s North Fork. Located a mile offshore of
Orient Point, Plum Island Animal Disease Center is the rumored birthplace of the Montauk Monster,
an international bioterrorism target, and the only place in the country that is authorized to work on live
foot and mouth disease virus. Photographing the island is strictly prohibited. In Silence of the Lambs,
it was proclaimed the one place fit for Hannibal Lecter. The only way to get there is by private

In search of a way to continue incorporating her love for animals in her work, Donahue went to
veterinary school and moved back to Long Island to pursue immunology and infectious disease
research in a lab in Brookville. Then, in 1997, just after the Brookville lab lost its funding, Donahue
received word of a new job opening on Plum Island. The first time I had the job interview, Donahue
recalls, I actually turned the job down because I thought to myself, This is a crazy place to work.
Eventually, however, the intrigue of Plum Island lured Donahue back in, and in under a year s time,
she found herself back on the island, inside the claustrophobic, window less, negatively pressurized
lab for a second interview. Twenty years later, Donahue is Plum Island s Manager for the Repository
of Transboundary Animal Diseases. Basically, says Donahue, that means that I m the keeper of all of
the islets. Plum Island s collection of islets or cell clusters dates back to the 1950s, when the research
facility was first established by the United States Department of Agriculture. In the event of an
outbreak, says Donahue, if the field wanted to ask, Is this a new islet? Is this an old islet? Is this
something man made? they could cross check that with me. As a whole, Donahue s department, the

Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Conflict Styles With Face Negotiation Theory
Introduction:
In many aspects of our life, it is pervasive to work in a team. No matter in company, school, or another
type of team it is necessary to be a part of a team and to achieve a team goal by corporations. People
join a team with different personalities, goals, values, beliefs and needs. On the one hand, these
differences can be a valuable quality of teams. On the other hand, these same differences inevitably
lead to different levels of conflicts as well. This paper analyzed the conflicts communication by styles
and types of conflict. There are five distinct types of conflicts, while this paper will only focus on
collaboration conflict style and accommodating conflict style. These two types of conflict styles are
more useful under corporative work environment. Additionally, my personal best and worst team
experiences respectively illustrated how collaboration effective for my team work, and how overly
accommodation influence my corporate outcomes. This paper is designed to offer a better
understanding about conflicts styles, and intercultural communication and conflict within
organizations. In terms of the paper structure, first, this paper gave a short explanation about the
conflict styles. Then, some related concepts of Face Negotiation Theory explored in this paper as well.
Additionally, it evaluated the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of collaboration conflict style and
accommodating conflict styles in organizations.

It all starts out with Henry Reyna and his 38th Street Gang were in a brawl with their rivalry, the
Downey gang. After their brawl, Henry and his gang decided to go to Sleepy Lagoon, which is a
reservoir where the young crowd went to hang out and socialize with their friends. They had gone to
the Williams Ranch where they had heard noise and mistook that noise for a party, but instead it was

The Storm Personal Narrative
There were tears in my eyes. I felt compelled to go and join Tyler in comforting Mom, but I stayed
back feeling like if I were to go and join the feeling of comfort would break and the moment would be
over. I didn t want to ruin it. Suddenly Mom s eyes opened from where her head rested on Tyler s
shoulder and she beckoned me with her hand. Slowly, I walked over and wrapped my arms around
Mom and around my twin brother. In that moment I knew that we would stick together and tell each
other the truth no matter how dire the situation was. ↜↝ A few days after the whole incident we had
heard the entire story. The story was basically a history of this secret group of people that are called

started to get out of the car, but Tyler and I stayed put. We were both curious. I knew this because I felt
the pull in my stomach that I had developed over the years of having a twin. I always knew when
Tyler didn t feel good or felt sad, so I made it hard for him to keep a secret from me. Come on it s
okay these people knew we were coming, Mom said, coming and opening my door and motioning for
us to come out. I opened my door and Tyler followed me out. I studied the house. It was tall, at least
three stories, it was colored a faded rose color with a door painted white with chipping paint. Mom
walked to the front door and rapped on it a few times, a few flakes of paint fluttered down from the
place Mom had hit the door. A few seconds later the door opened to reveal a young woman about
Mom s age. Kathleen! yelled the lady that I assumed owned the house, It s so good to see you, and is
this Tyler and Taylor? She seemed really energetic which surprised me that she knew Mom, because
Mom was the kind of person that didn t talk much to people she didn t know. This meant that the had

How Did Roman Architecture Influence Greek Architecture
The Romans continued the legacy left by the early greek architects. They favored the Greek column
called the corinthia. Roman architecture is a combination of their own ideas and Greek architecture.
Greece was their main influence. The Romans had architecture based on greek architecture, used it in
their bath houses, and used different materials for different buildings Temples in Rome were a
combination of Etruscan and Greek models of inner cella (chambers) at the back of the building which
was on a raised platform surrounded by columns with steps leading to it. The inner chella was the
focal point of the temple. The columns used were corinthian columns. Corinthian columns have an
intricate design consisting of acanthus leaves and scrolls (Cartwright). Corinthian columns were also

Roman baths display the typical Roman ability for creating breath taking interior space using arches,
domes, vaults, and buttresses (Cartwright). It was there not only so people could bathe, but for
socializing. Roman bath houses were also provided for private villas, town houses, and forts. The
water that supplied the bath houses came from either a stream or an aqueduct. Before reaching the
bathing rooms, the water was heated by a log fire. It was split into two sections: a part for men and a
part for women. The women typically got the smaller set of rooms. In the bath houses, there were
three main types of baths, the caldarium (hot bath), the tepidarium, a cold bath, and the frigidarium, a
cold bath (Trueman). They also sometimes featured steam baths: the sudatorium, a moist steam bath,
and the laconicum, a dry steam bath. The laconicum is more or less a modern day sauna. If someone
was in the frigidarium and wished to go to the warm bath, they had to go through something called
tepidarium. The tepidarium was heated with warm air to prepare the body for the heat from the vapor
and the warm bath

False imprisonment Ricardo v State Immigration Department [SID] False imprisonment is defined as
intentional and unauthorised restraint or deprivation of a person s liberty. SID was intentionally
wrongful used its authority to cause confinement on Ricardo s liberty. Although there has been no
application of physical force, there was evidence of complete submission by Ricardo to the control of
SID, which eventually satisfied the test drawn from the High Court s decision in Balmain New Ferry
Co Ltd v Robertson. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if Ricardo refused to
follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was abundantly satisfied.
SID took the action without any requisite warrants or reasonable evidence; a tip off was not enough to
satisfy, so an imprisonment was unlawful since the beginning as they barred exit. No minimum time
limit is specified for constituting of the action on false imprisonment, therefore 20 minute of detention
or even less than that would still constitute an action for false imprisonment. There will be no relevant
defences since the action was unlawfully carried out, without any authorised license or statutory
authority. So SID would be liable for false imprisonment; Ricardo can claim for nominal

Ethical Police Force
Sir Robert Peel was british, He is regarded as the father of the modern British police and as one of the
founders of the modern Conservative Party. The Peelian principles summarise the ideas that Sir Robert
Peel developed to define an ethical police force. There were nine principles: prevent crime disorder,
public approval, willing co operation, diminishing use of physical force, public favor, only necessary
force, police are the public, do not usurp authority, and absence of crime. In my opinion all these
principles are important but the two i m going to talk about are the seventh and eighth principle:
Police are the public, and do not usurp authority. Police at all times should maintain a relationship

Emily Dickinson Punctuation

Dickinson s Riddle
Emily Dickinson died before her works were attempted to be analyzed and interpreted, suggesting
perhaps that the mysteries, abstractions, and double meanings were for her own enjoyment, and all
answers if there were any died with her ( Explanation ). Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems
is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots,
and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily Dickinson uses
punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect and meaning of
her works, such as My Life had stoodï‚Ÿa Loaded Gunï‚Ÿ, After great pain, a formal feeling comesï‚Ÿ,
and Wild Nightsï‚ŸWild Nights!
Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many of
her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and sight,
often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by dashes
(Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks. Exclamation
marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and
excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and helps to draw in
her audience.
Dickinson s My Life had stoodï‚Ÿ a Loaded Gunï‚Ÿ contains en dashes from beginning to end, giving

Ichabod In Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow
Although Tim Burton s Sleepy Hollow is a depiction of Washington Irving s The Legend of Sleepy
Hollow, the movie is quite different than the original horror story. Burton takes a legendary ghost tale
and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more properties to assist
in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his career, Burton is able to
develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. In the original story, Ichabod
is an awkwardly, thin school teacher who loves engaging in stories about the supernatural. According
to Irving, He was tall, but exceedingly lank with narrow shoulders, long arms and legs, hands that
dangled a mile out of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes in science and reasoning making him a not so easy target to be scared by the supernatural.
This is why Burton s Ichabod is a detective and the headless horseman is considered to be a murderer
instead of ghostly figure who haunts the living. Changing Ichabod s profession is an extremely
essential part of the film. It serves as the main purpose as to why the genre is changed to a murder
mystery. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and seeks out to find the
headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would be relatively impractical
to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect. Although Burton s Ichabod is
a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he takes young Masbeth under his
wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy Hollow, he teaches him how to
investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the victims is also quite similar to a
teacher. Like chemistry teachers who perform experiments in a laboratory, Ichabod does the same. For
instance, the first investigation scene where he sprinkles a substance on the body of the man who was
just killed or investigating the strides of the horseman to determine how many steps he

Nitrogen dioxide increases symptoms in people with asthma. Boxer decided to conduct an experiment
with a group of school kids in her home state. She asked the students how many of them have asthma
or know someone with asthma. About half the class raised their hand. This is important because nearly
25 million people in the America have asthma according to research done in 2009, resulting in the US
seeing an event occur like the Black Plague all over again. Another issue that has arose would include
the pipeline rupturing leaving us with an oil spill on our hands. Tar sands is the most difficult type of
oil to clean up in the event it were to spill. Mainly because it is so heavy it would sink straight to the
bottom of the water. A perfect example of a tar sands spill happened in Michigan s Kalamazoo River
in 2010 when approximately thirty five miles of the Kalamazoo River was closed for clean up until
June 2012, when they had portions of the river re opened. We can still see the effects it has had on
Michigan because they have not fully cleaned all of the oil out of the river. The US lost about
1,100,000 gallons due to this spill, resulting 30 to 50 households to excavate the area and were told
not to drink any of their water supplies due to all the highly toxins released from the pipeline rupture.

Choice Theory Vs Reality Therapy
Article Review and Critique
Choice Theory may be applied to a wide array of persons and conflicts, the focus is on total behavior,
which is based on four interacting needs present from birth to death (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014).
Choice theory and Reality therapy correlate in that they both empower people to take control of their
internal and external conflicts. Furthermore, Reality Therapy initiated by William Glasser in the 1960s
is particularly useful in settings such as schools, correctional institutions, and substance use treatment
programs that emphasize changing behavior (Seligman Reichenberg, 2014). In the article, Frequently
Asked Questions and Not So Brief Answers: Part II, we are able to analyze the responses to two
questions for teachers and therapists.
Summary
The questions presented in the article that will be further analyzed along with the significant role they
present. The first one is, what is the role of the past in the practice of reality therapy? The next, does
choice theory and reality therapy give attention to the outside world? In fact, reality therapy
emphasizes on the recent past due to the fact that it is connected to the present situation. Indeed,
implementing choice theory and reality therapy is an artful process that takes into consideration
worldview of clients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

King Henry V As The Mirror Of All Christian Kings
In this week s first lecture we opened by watching the prologue from a production of Henry V. We
discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry is the
matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the mirror of all
Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then talked about the
essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small wooden theater. We
talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in the theater. We also talked
about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the audience to use their imaginations
by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus essentially pleads with the audience to
view the representations presented to them as what they are intended more than what they are. For this
to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the writing, acting and audience participation are all
required to properly appreciate the story as it was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this
play, the first is as a Christian hero. We mentioned how Henry V was an embodiment of the symbols
of the lion, fox, and pelican. The first scene after the prologue includes two cardinals praising the king
for his great qualities. We began looking at some of the representations of Henry V as the fox symbol
embodying the qualities of justice, wisdom, and diplomacy. We watched

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Water Bladders
The advantage of using the hydration bladder
Carrying water along with us can be a little tricky in conditions where lightness matters because we
have struggled to find the right balance between a light alternative for water bottles and a medium to
keep it durable enough to take a beating in the tough conditions outside. This is what helped in
developing the ultimate light and durable outdoor kit for carrying water easily.
The development aided the creation of the first ever hydration water bladder which is one of the best
ways through which one can easily carry a good amount of water while on the go. This bladder
consists of a tough exterior which is designed to take a lot of impacts as well as withstand the
extremities of the climate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It compiles the best of all factors such as lightness, on account of its feather light profile, it even has a
capacity of two liters and comes with a straw through which the individual can drink.
The whole thing including the straw are made using very durable materials and the purpose is one,
durability. The hydration bladder has been extensively tested in very tough environments before it was
put up for sale in the first place. This altogether has helped the product in achieving success with the
customers because they can always rely on this product easily.
The water bladder employs a very tough construction both inside and out in the name of durability and
insulation so the user can add either hot or cold water in it and it will still remain the same without any
regard to the exterior condition. This extensive layering process has also helped the product attain a
good amount of strength to prevent any kind of leaks from inside.
This is advantageous to the users since they don t need to worry about leaks at all, it even has two shut

It s the worst ocean on the globe. (82) It can be truly appalling. Drake s Passage is an 800 kilometer
wide gap located between the tip of South America (Cape Horn) and the islands at the end of the
Antarctic Peninsula. It is the shortest crossing between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Once key
characteristic of Drake s Passage is that There is no significant land anywhere around the world at the
latitudes of Drake Passage. This means that there is nothing to stop or slow down the movement of
water as it circumnavigates the Antarctic. Because of the land at the tip of South America and at the
end of the Antarctic Peninsula, Drake s Passage becomes a hindrance for the waves travelling east.

As the novel indicates, Shackleton really did not have a choice if he wanted to save his crew. Because
of his prior experience in the Antarctic, Shackleton knew sailing due north across Drake s Passage in
the winter would be suicide. (92) All the winds and waves would be against it. (92) Considering their
location, Shackleton had four options : do nothing, stay where they were and sincerely hope that a ship
comes by at some point; get back in the boats, island hop back down the Antarctic Peninsula and hope
a ship comes by at some point; try to sail across Drake s Passage in a 22 foot lifeboat while battling
100 foot waves; or take advantage of the prevailing winds and currents and make for South Georgia
Island, 800 miles [1287 km] to the east. (92) They had one good option...the latter. Worsley and
Shackleton had known for months that it was their only hope. (92) Undeniably, the journey was an
arduous one. For Worsley, navigating had ceased to be a science and had turned into a kind of sorcery.
(98) He was only able to get a sight of the sun four times during the entire journey. Huge waves bore
down. Winds lashed them. Ice developed. The men would suffer from nightmares for months after the
journey because of the horrors they experienced. When considering what the crew of the Endurance

Trauma In Adolescence
When examining at a broad scope, traumatic events are often linked to PTSD (Cepeda, Saint Onge,
Kaplan Valdez, 2010), but this is generally examined at the adult level. Hurricane Katrina took its
psychological toll on adolescents as well. Just as adults turn to substance use in stressful situations,
adolescents follow this same pattern (Beaudoin, 2011). Adolescents are particularly vulnerable in the
wake of a disaster (Wagner, Brief, Vielhauer, Sussman, Keane Malow, 2009). The exposures of this
disaster on adolescents lead to the development of destructive health behaviors. After disaster
adolescents, namely female adolescents, suffer interpersonal victimization (Wagner, Brief, Vielhauer,

hurricane status played a role in protecting individuals, but with a majority of these victims

The Importance Of Adaptation In Japanese Americans And...
Every human being, every animal, every plant has had to adapt in their life in order to survive.
Adaptation relates to everything, there is no life without adapting. The word adaptation means
modification of an organism or its parts that makes it more fit for existence under the conditions of its
environment: a heritable physical or behavioral trait that serves a specific function. Adaptation is
important because if Brent (The Burn Journals), the Japanese Americans, and Temple Grandin didn t
have adaptation they wouldn t have been able to live a normal life. One way that someone might show
adaptation in their life is when someone is born into a religious family. They adapt to going to
religious celebrations and don t think anything of it after they have been doing it through their
childhood. They have adapted to that certain schedule. There are also different ways adaptation can be
shown. The three examples from our literature will show how they have used adaptation in parts of
their life. In 1942 the Japanese Americans were relocated because of their race. They had to adapt to a
new way of life by realizing they had to work harder to just live. Temple Grandin was an autistic
young adult that was always moving. Temple had to adapt to the new surroundings every time she
moved to a new location. The Burn Journals is about a boy, named Brent Runyon, and he tried to
commit suicide by lighting himself on fire. He had to adapt to a new way of life in hospitals and

Creationism and Public Schools Essay example
Creationism and Public Schools
The issue of whether creationism should be taught in public schools, rather than evolution, is a new
one. It has only been in the past fifty years that it has even been in debate. Public school science
classes, when discussing the origins of life on Earth, coincided with Sunday school classes. Students
learned that the Earth, universe and everything else was created in seven days, by God, as stated in the
Old Testament. It was not until recently with the rise of scientific reason and equal rights organizations
did these teachings become questioned. The argument spurs from each person s personal belief, and
that is where things get complicated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These principles include a basis in natural law, and science is guided by natural law. Science has to be
explanatory by referencing natural law, and scientific conclusions must lack finality. When they are
proven otherwise, they are open to alteration. In a science course, for something to be taught, as a
science, it must follow these guide lines, yet creationism does not. Creation Scientists will not adhere
themselves or their beliefs to these rules, and therefore creationism can not be taught as a science,
hence the name pseudoscience.
The next debate on why creationism should not be taught in schools is based on The First
Amendment. The First Amendment states that the government shall make no laws endorsing or
prohibiting any religious believe. Public schools are funded by the government. Requiring the Biblical
teachings of creationism to be taught in school promotes the Christian religion. According to the First
Amendment, a public organization that is funded by the government can not promote one religion
over another. For public schools to be able to comply with the First Amendment, they would have to
offer equal time to every religion s view on the creation of life on Earth, which would be impossible
and once again, turn a biology class into a theology class.
This idea was also approved by the US Supreme Court, in the 1987 case, Aguillard v. Edwards. In this
case, it was

Romantic Fiction Of Edvard Grieg
The Romantic Fiction of Edvard Grieg
Edvard Grieg is Norway s most beloved composer. His work in the late romantic era helped to create a
national identity for the new country. However, despite the frail persona he has been assigned by
society, his true personality was that of a Bergener, as seen through his letters and essays.
The late Romantic Era (~1790 1910) was a time for experimentation. The individual composers,
starting with Beethoven, moved away from the technical form of the baroque and classical periods.
Instead this movement focused on emotions and national pride. Often, the Romantic era is placed next
to the Classical era as an opposite. (Einstein 1980) History often treats Romanticism as a rebellious
response to the technical Classical era that came beforehand. However, there are many overlaps
between the two movements. Many romantic pieces followed the general structures and rules that
were created in the Classical era, though many delved into chromatic progression. (Einstein 1980) The
largest difference between the two is that romantic music has richer tones, and was heavily rooted in
history. One of the main factors of romantic music is the tie to nationalism, and country wide pride.
(Einstein 1980) These factors play a role in making Romantic music some of the most fascinating
music to be composed.
A composer that encompassed this idea of both rich tones and nationalism is Edvard Grieg. He was
born on June 15, 1843, and as raised in Strandgaten, Norway.

As stated in Diet, nutrition and the prevention of cancer by Timothy J Key et.al, Researchers estimate
that 80 90% of all cancers are environmentally related. In that broad category termed environmental,
the National Cancer Institute lists diet as the number one contributing factor. If someone is ill/has

help boost immune system efficiency which is difficult to accomplish if the diet of a cancer patient, or
someone trying to prevent cancer, consists of high sugar and high fat diets. In terms of preventing

Laboratory and animal research has shown that exogenous antioxidants can help prevent the free
radical damage associated with the development of cancer. (Dr. Walter Willet, 2015). A major
antioxidant study is beta carotene. Beta carotene has shown the ability to scavenge free radicals as
well as inhibit new cancerous cell production. We always hear how vegetables are essential to a
healthy diet but may not understand why. Vegetables contain high amounts of antioxidants, such as
beta carotene, and an extensive amount of vitamins. In green, yellow, and red fruits and vegetables,
beta carotene is present and contains the ability to be converted to Vitamin A, if needed by the body.
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that converts free radicals to harmless waste and is said to detoxify
carcinogenic compounds. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and free radical scavenger. It has been shown in
studies to inhibit tumor growth and enhance the effects of cytoxic drugs that block the growth of cells

Organizational climates which promote risk taking have been theorized to impact corporate innovation
independently (Caruana, Ewing, Ramaseshan, 2002) or in combination with other organizational and
environmental factors (Nystrom, Ramamurthy, Wilson, 2002). As an independent predictor, risk taking
is viewed as a necessary prerequisite for adopting new ideas whose outcomes cannot be guaranteed
(Albrecht Hall, 1991). A meta analysis of 24 organizational studies demonstrated that organizational
support for risk taking demonstrated a 0.78 effect size on innovation (Hunter, Bedell, Mumford,
2007). Pro innovation attitudes by managers predict innovation adoption in both the public and private
sector (Moon and Bretschneider 2002; Thong and Yap 1995). As a mediator, organizational support
for risk taking may explain the relationship of organizational financial health (Kearney, Feldman,
Scavo, 2000; Walker Boyne, 2006) and size (Damanpur 2010; Walker 2008).
To complement our previous research which identified organizational risk taking as a significant
predictor of innovative health benefit decision making (Rost, 2014), the research team conducted an

Mission Command Paper Operation Market Garden: Battle of Arnhem With German forces on the run
following the Allied success at Normandy and the breakout and pursuit across France, Allied forces
were staged to enter Germany in late summer 1944. Both Field Marshal Montgomery and General
Bradley clamored to be given the priority of effort. General Eisenhower chose Montgomery s
Operation MARKET GARDEN as the plan for action. It called for airborne forces to open the route

Division 8 miles from the bridge, rather than drop the parachutists much closer to it. It is a point that
those who knew the General would refute without difficulty. However it is true that his objection to
the poor air plan could have been stronger than it was, but it must be remembered that Urquhart had to
plan an entire operation in only seven days, and so when faced with stubborn opposition from fellow
commanders he had little option but to accept the situation and move on. Nevertheless, these failings
in the plan sealed the fate of Market Garden before it had begun. The initial airborne drops caught the
Germans totally by surprise, and there was little resistance. MG Urquhart, later wrote that ever since

The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling Essay
The History and Breakdown of the Glass Ceiling
The term the glass ceiling first came into use in 1986 when two Wall Street Journal reporters coined
the phrase to describe the invisible barrier that blocks women from the top jobs in corporate America.
(Glass Ceiling Commission, Successful Initiatives ). Since then the metaphor has also been applied to
the barriers of minorities. The Glass Ceiling Effect has been around for approximately 50 years. In my
opinion it is on its way out the door. Corporate Officers and Senior Management are noticing the
merits of women and minorities and doing something about it.

applicants and employees on the basis of race, sex, age, handicap, religion, or national origin. The law
prohibits discrimination in hiring, firing, discipline, compensation, and other conditions of
employment. (Reader s Digest, Know Your Rights ,1997). The Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the
backbone of efforts to eliminate employment discrimination. (Glass Ceiling Commission.
Enforcement Techniques , 1993). The Act allows victims of discrimination in the workplace to
privately litigate claims. The Act started the advancement of women and minorities in the workplace.
Until this point women were in the workforce steadily, but not advancing. Minorities were also
present, but almost never in positions of visibility. Women and minorities in senior management were
almost unheard of. Employers are now forced to review and revise policy and procedures for hiring
and promoting within their respective companies. They are now accountable to the government and
liable to the employee in the event of discriminatory behavior.
At this time and since then, several agencies have been organized to enforce the Act and prohibit
discrimination. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission came into effect to enforce
antidiscrimination laws. The EEOC investigates allegations of bias, negotiates agreements after
charges are filed, and occasionally goes to

Poverty Is A Problem That The World Faces On The Regular...
Poverty is a major issue in the United States society today. Cultural, economical, political, and social
factors all contribute to poverty. Economic and education development are two major issues that will
help prevent poverty. The United States Census Bureau defines poverty as an economic condition in
which people lack sufficient income to obtain basic needs for food, housing, clothing, health services,
and education. (U.S Census Bureau) In other words, poverty is powerlessness, lack of representation
and freedom.
Poverty is a problem that the world faces on the regular basis. Poverty in the United States is
deteriorating every day and not enough is getting done about it. There are individuals who have the
need to help the poor, however nobody knows precisely how to help them. Those who are against

Literature has always been a window into life during a particular time frame. Fiction and nonfiction
alike will give its readers a glimpse of the lives of those of varying social statuses, along with the
culture and politics of the time. This remains true regardless of the period in which a work was
written. From the Romantic era to the 20th Century, literature has been skilled at providing
understanding of others and their lives. For example, from the Romantic period works like the two
William Wordsworth poems I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and The World is Too Much with Us,
along with A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns. The Victorian era has its own share of works that reflect

Language can mean a number of things in regards to literature, it can refer to the slang that is used, the
way that the author phrased a sentence, or even the dialect that the work is written in. Authors like
Robert Burns, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and W.H. Auden in particular make use of language in the first
two ways mentioned as a way of reflecting their respective time periods. Robert Burn s A Red, Red
Rose is a poem that makes perfect use of language in order to display the thoughts of the author,
which in turn displays the general thoughts of the time as well as his own location. A Red, Red Rose is
a rather romantic poem, and considering the era in which it was written makes it fairly obvious that
other authors of the time were discussing similar subjects. When discussing the beauty of his love,
Burn s use of language which talks of how, [...] fair art thou, my bonnie lass [...] sort of automatically
puts the reader in a mindset that can better understand his life (Burns). Couple the more archaic way
of writing with the dialect of the author, which is put on display in his goodbyes to his love in the
lines, [...] And fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare thee weel awhile! And I will come again, my
luve [...] (Burns). God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins also use language in order to further the
ideas of his time. While the Victorian period was one of great scientific advancements, it was also a
time when Christianity was a very large part of people s lives. Hopkins uses solid, imposing words in
order to enforce the concept of God s strength, as seen early on in his poem, where he states that, [...]
The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It
gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil [...] (Hopkins). The author furthers the power of God by
downplaying the strengths of mankind,

Immigration Issues in the News
H. R. 2604 (2012): Help Separated Families Act of 2013 is a Federal bill introduced by Representative
Lucille Roybal Allard, a Democrat in California s 40th District. After the introduction of this Federal
bill it was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means: 113th Congress, 2013 2015. The bill, (H. R.
2604) was introduced to the Senate floor as of Jun 28, 2013 (GovTrack.us, 2013). This bill would
ensure that immigration status alone does not disqualify a relative from being a placement for a child
whose parent (s) has been deported.
Understanding the Problem Immigration issues have been in the news; and have been debated by
politicians. Political parties over the years have been vocal in voicing their concerns about American
immigration (Russit, 2013). The problem is if you are an undocumented immigrant and you are
stopped by an arresting agency you will be detained and deported according to the current
immigration policy (Russit, 2013). Russit (2013) explains the judicial branch of our Supreme Court
has ruled over this issue for over four decades. They have determined the federal government has the
exclusive power of regulating immigration. These powers are based on the Commerce Clause,
Naturalization Clause, Migration and Importation Clause and the War Power Clause of Article I of the
US Constitution. The courts have ruled that any state or local law that attempts to regulate
immigration is in violation of the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution and is

Looking at both these pictures which man appears to be more attractive? Old Spice is an American

Case Study Of Jungle Juice
I decided to work with TC Pharmaceutical Industries Co., Ltd. based in Bangkok, Thailand. TC
Pharma is one of the leading food and beverage companies in Thailand. They have a successfully
diverse product portfolio. This includes Red Bull, the world s leading energy drink. T.C. Pharma is the
only producer of the Red Bull flavor around the world and owns the Red Bull trademarks worldwide.
The company has over 2,600 employees at its headquarters, production sites and joint venture
locations around the world.
The company was founded by Mr. Chaleo Yoovidhya in 1956. It began by importing chemicals and
materials from Europe to Thailand. The company saw success with T.C. Mycin, the best selling
antibiotic in Thailand at the time. Eventually, Mr. Chaleo pursued other ventures which led to the
creation of Red Bull in 1975. The drink began being distributed to nearby countries in 1982. By 1987,
Mr. Chaleo teamed up with Mr. Dietrich Mateschitz to bring Red Bull to Europe. The success with the
popular energy drink turned Mr. Chaleos focus to the beverage business. On March 2012, Chaleo died.
His assets were divvied up among his children and grandchildren, many of whom now hold important
positions in the company.
I propose a product called Jungle Juice. It will be a new tonic drink ... Show more content on

Thailand s economy is surprisingly resilient. They have proven their economic strength by surviving
years of political turmoil. They also have a solid reputation for attracting export oriented

is projected to see a rise in revenue, from $52 million USD in 2016 to $125 million USD in 2021,

Analysis Of Torture For Christ By Richard Wurmbrand
The book Tortured for Christ, by Richard Wurmbrand, details the horrific acts of violence and torture
that he and his fellow Romanian Christians endured under the communist regime in their country.
After these experiences, Wurmbrand founded the Voice of the Martyrs, which is an organization
dedicated to telling the story of persecuted Christians all over the world. This book was written over
the course of three days after Wurmbrand was released by the Communists. The book is seven
chapters long, and each chapter details the different parts of his life while under the communist rule
and his experiences in the West. The first two chapters of the book talks about Wurmbrand s
conversion to Christ, and the hunger for Him that many Russian people ... Show more content on

He equates what they suffered to be worse than hell, and quotes a priest as saying they have suffered
more than Christ. To date, I have never been physically persecuted for my faith, so maybe I am not
qualified to contest these statements. But I believe to say that one has suffered more than Christ
suffered is problematic at best. Since the death of Christ, we must realize that we are never truly alone.
A Christian is given the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and he guides and directs us as we live our lives.
When Jesus died on the cross, he was completely alone. Mark says that the Father turned his face
away from Jesus. Jesus asked the Father why he had forsaken him. That is the feeling of being truly
alone, and I do not believe that any human who knows the love of Christ can ever be alone. When
faced with horrific trials, we must not look to Christ and say I have suffered more than you , we must
look to Christ and say I suffer because of you . This book helped tremendously in developing a lot of
skills that I have practiced over the years. When reading this book, I read it with a very critical eye.
Reading the book this way helped me to not get caught up in any emotional turmoil that would cause
me top read the book from a biased viewpoint. When reading works of any stance, reading with an
open mind is very important when

Summary Of Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
Oryx and Crake is a unique novel written by Margaret Atwood. It explores the United States, before
and after the entire human race is wiped out by a viral infection, through the eyes of a man named
Snowman who, before the outbreak, is known as Jimmy. While in high school, Jimmy meets another
boy named Glenn and the two became friends. They bond over weird hobbies including watching an
array of things ranging from open heart surgeries to pornography and online games. One day Glenn
and Jimmy need codenames for a game they are playing together. Glenn picks Crake for himself and it
stuck as his nickname for the rest of his life. After high school, the two boys went their separate ways.
Crake ends up creating a pill called BlyssPluss, which leads to the death of mankind, and his own
human like species that were named Crakers. Crake ends up dying and leaves the mess he created in
Jimmy s hands. This includes the Crakers. In this paper I argue that Jimmy truly cares about the
Crakers like a parent because of his miserable upbringing by his. Jimmy s mom left him and his dad
behind one day. Not only did she trash Jimmy s father s computer, but she took Killer, Jimmy s pet
rakunk and only companion, with her too. Atwood describes Jimmy s response, Jimmy had mourned
for weeks. No, for months. (Atwood, 61). Jimmy probably viewed his mother as the one person that
would always be there no matter what and is not supposed to hurt him, so when she did the opposite of
those two things,

An Anti ‐ Inflammatory Effects
Cranberry contains high levels of nutrients and bioactive molecules that have health‐promoting
properties. The purpose of the present studies was to determine if cranberry extracts (CEs) contain
phytochemicals that exert anti‐inflammatory effects. The human monocytic cell line THP‐1 was
treated with two CEs (CE and 90MX) and subsequently challenged with Lipopolysaccharides (LPS).
Tumor necrosis factor α (TNF α) expression was decreased in the CE‐treated cells, indicative of an
anti‐inflammatory effect. Gene expression microarrays identified several immune‐related genes that
were responsive to CEs including interferon‐induced protein with tetratricopeptide repeats 1 and 3

2004). Cranberries, in powder, extract or juice, have been reported to be beneficial for helping prevent
urinary tract infections (Wang et al. 2012; Blumberg et al. 2013; Foxman et al. 2015), oxidative stress
and cardiometabolic risk factors such as reducing C‐reactive protein and lowering blood pressure
(Basu et al. 2011; Dohadwala et al. 2011; Novotny et al. 2015). As cranberry is a natural food product
and not a drug, the effect seen is often mild but that is consistent with the recommendation for a food
with health components that is consumed as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle.
In vitro evidence has shown the antioxidant potential of cranberry phenolic compounds including
protection of human microvascular endothelial cells against ROS, and HepG2 cells from inflammatory
insults and reduced glycation (Caton et al. 2010; Crozier et al. 2010; Liu et al. 2011; Watson et al.
2014; MartĂn et al. 2015). A recent publication also showed the bioavailability and bioactivity of
cranberry phenolics and metabolites from consuming cranberry juice beverage (McKay et al. 2015).
The protective effect of these compounds may be related to their function in sequestering ROS and/or
maintaining the cell components in their correct redox state, but

The Use Of Disguise In Wilkie Collins The Moonstone
As the search for the culprit of the moonstone continues, the story is resumed by Franklin Blake in
Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man
s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey
Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man
whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in
this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford
English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or
deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his
true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as
a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears
within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise
(Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in
this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever. His intent to pose as a sailor
and direct the attention to the Indians by way of his complexion did not work as he was taller than any
of the Indians and his face was twice the breadth of any of their faces at least (Collins 434). By doing
so he directed the attention to himself. To be in disguise is also to conceal or cloak the real state or
character of (anything) by a counterfeit show or appearance (OED) or to change the guise, or dress
and personal appearance, of (anyone) so as to conceal identity; to conceal the identity of by dressing
as some one or in a particular garb (OED). Godfrey s disguise figuratively and literally concealed (his)
real character. As Sergeant cuff took forcible possession of the dead man s black hair and washed off
his complexion, Godfrey s literal disguise was revealed. Figuratively, he was revealed as a fraud for
having led a double life (Collins 447). He was

Stereotypes And Microaggressions In Disney Films
Stereotypes and Microaggressions in Disney Films It seems like the entertainment icon Walt Disney
Company has been around since the beginning of time, entertaining the public with its lifelike and
imaginative animations and characters. Nearly every parent and child that was born in the last century
has experienced a Disney animated film at some point in their lifetime, which has left either a negative
or positive impression on them. The experiences with Disney films leaves most viewers with a warm
and fuzzy feeling inside or the feeling of happiness, because the films themselves take the viewer on a
ride out of their reality into the World of imagination, fairytales, and fantasy. On the contrary some
ethnic viewers leave Disney films feeling misrepresents, disrespected, and upset regarding the way
that Disney choses to represent race and cultures other than Caucasian in their films. The Disney
company discriminates against people of ethnic backgrounds, does not take into consideration the
cultural differences between ethnic groups and deliberately stereotypes and homogenizes all racial
groups and protagonist in their films. Adults and children experience stereotypes in two ways, from
direct experience in life and from the media, which happens to be the largest secondary source. The
article entitled The Portrayal of Older Characters in Disney Animated Films, states that television and
movies serve as an important socializing function supplying children with images that can

Gerard David Virgin And Child With Four Angels
Gerard David created his oil on wood painting Virgin and Child with Four Angels from 1510 to 1515
in Bruges, Netherlands. The piece is currently located at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York
City and is found in Gallery 640 as part of the museum s collection of European paintings. Just as the
title indicates, the painting s subject is the Blessed Virgin Mary holding her infant son Jesus Christ, the
prophesied Messiah of the Old Testament, while being crowned by angels. Through the use of formal
artistic techniques, David conveys the miraculous and perfect nature of the Mary, stressing her
importance as the Mother of God and the Queen of Heaven in a realistic and relatable manner.
Throughout the Virgin and Child with Four Angels, David employs the use of color to emphasize the
miraculous nature of the religious subject matter. From the ornate jewels of the crown to the ruby red
color of Mary s gown to the amethyst purple sash of the angel in the upper right, the application of
rich jewel tones induces a sense of royal holiness to figures. Their brightness and warmth successfully
draw the viewer s attention to figures possessing them and generate an atmospheric serenity to the
scene. Additionally, the subtle flushness of the figures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the top of the work, the angels are holding a crown, which is typically perceived as a symbol of
royalty, honor and/or glory. Hence, this symbol represents the glory of Mary as Queen of Heaven and
as the virgin Mother of God, which can be seen as worthy of both honor and praise. Another symbol is
in the middle ground of the piece, where a monk is praying in the field by the stone wall. In
Christianity, monks live solemn lives of prayer and service, completely devoted to spreading the Word
of God in the Christian Gospel. Therefore, the monk s presence creates a sense piety and holiness in
the scene, which lends well to the religious

  • 2. Theory Of Evaluator s Practice Theory in Evaluator s Practice Evaluation theory is a broad term, there are many different theories and models to follow in an evaluation. An evaluator can pick any when doing an evaluation, however each as a ground framework they start with. That starting theory can show up when they first begin an evaluation. However the evaluation determines the theory used to best address the problem or program being evaluated. I interviewed an evaluator, Person A, who explained that every evaluation and assessment is unique, so her approach was holistic to try to see every necessary variable and she used mix and match theories she knew to best address the current issues, sometimes changing models when necessary. While she has experience in doing many types of evaluations like process, outcomes and impact, she prefers to do process and impact evaluations to create change or improvements and track their progress. One example of a process evaluation she does is to find out student satisfaction of services and to address any inefficiencies. Last year a survey was emailed to students who used the service at the end of the year. Some strengths of this evaluation was their data collection and survey method were more efficient after upgrading from paper to electronic resources. With an emailed survey they got a higher response rate than using paper surveys. However the response rate was still low since the survey was sent out once at the end of the year. Person A wanted a higher response rate, so she implemented a change by sending out the survey to students shortly after they used the service so she will continuously collect data and be able to analyze it at the end of each semester. The chemical nature of this hormone is protein based, hence the name somatotropin. It is regulated through negative feedback, inhibiting the release of growth hormones when the amount in the bloodstream is high already. In terms of target tissues, it is very general, pretty much all the bone structure and most of the muscular system is affected by the growth hormone. Due to the relative closeness of these emotions, both are often confused, and even when one is in love he or she does not recognize it. Many think that love just comes knocking on one s door and one will know when it does, but they don t realize that for love to occur a relationship has must be worked out. Love is described by some as fireworks, tingles, and butterflies in the stomach; but it is lust that can cause these things to happen, and it is these that mark only the beginning of a relationship. After a while, these feelings die out, and this is when the honeymoon period is over; it is from this point on that the relationship will either end or get stronger and eventually lead to true love. Lust is the main idea behind the poem Play By Play by Joan Murray. Through the presence of officers, it was apparent that if Ricardo refused to follow, he would be restrained by force. So the requirement of total restraint was abundantly satisfied. Glimpsing at just a few of Dickinson s poems is sure to catch the eye of a reader, posing questions of grammatical soundness. Capital letters, dots, and dashes appear consistently, but maybe there is a reason behind it all. Emily Dickinson uses punctuation in a non traditional way throughout her poems, contributing to the effect and meaning of her works, such as My Life had stoodï‚Ÿa Loaded Gunï‚Ÿ, After great pain, a formal feeling comesï‚Ÿ, and Wild Nightsï‚ŸWild Nights! Emily Dickinson employs commonly used punctuation marks in an uncommon way, riddling many of her poems. Emily Dickinson s poems, like inlay, tend to be made of splinters of thought and sight, often brilliant fragments, held together by a mosaic sense of pattern, joined irregularly by dashes (Wilner). Although dashes appear the most, some works also contain explanation marks. Exclamation marks in Dickinson s poems suggest strong feeling in her thoughts, interjecting passion and excitement throughout. The punctuation used by the author enhances her works and helps to draw in her audience. Burton takes a legendary ghost tale and transforms it into a murder mystery. He alters the character roles and add more properties to assist in redesigning the film. By taking Ichabod, the main character and shifting his career, Burton is able to develop the plot that initially sets the change from one genre to another. He believes in science and reasoning making him a not so easy target to be scared by the supernatural. This is why Burton s Ichabod is a detective and the headless horseman is considered to be a murderer instead of ghostly figure who haunts the living. Changing Ichabod s profession is an extremely essential part of the film. It serves as the main purpose as to why the genre is changed to a murder mystery. By having Ichabod as a constable, Ichabod searches for clues and seeks out to find the headless horsemen. If Burton had not changed Ichabod s profession, it would be relatively impractical to see a cowardly teacher on a murder scene trying to catch the suspect. Although Burton s Ichabod is a detective, he still possess qualities of a teacher. For instance, he takes young Masbeth under his wing. Taking Masbeth on excursions with him through Sleepy Hollow, he teaches him how to investigate through experiences. Ichabod s investigation of the victims is also quite similar to a teacher. We discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry is the matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the mirror of all Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then talked about the essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small wooden theater. We talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in the theater. We also talked about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the audience to use their imaginations by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus essentially pleads with the audience to view the representations presented to them as what they are intended more than what they are. For this to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the writing, acting and audience participation are all required to properly appreciate the story as it was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this play, the first is as a Christian hero. We mentioned how Henry V was an embodiment of the symbols of the lion, fox, and pelican. Adaptation relates to everything, there is no life without adapting. The word adaptation means modification of an organism or its parts that makes it more fit for existence under the conditions of its environment: a heritable physical or behavioral trait that serves a specific function. Adaptation is important because if Brent (The Burn Journals), the Japanese Americans, and Temple Grandin didn t have adaptation they wouldn t have been able to live a normal life. One way that someone might show adaptation in their life is when someone is born into a religious family. They adapt to going to religious celebrations and don t think anything of it after they have been doing it through their childhood. They have adapted to that certain schedule. There are also different ways adaptation can be shown. The three examples from our literature will show how they have used adaptation in parts of their life. In 1942 the Japanese Americans were relocated because of their race. They had to adapt to a new way of life by realizing they had to work harder to just live. Temple Grandin was an autistic young adult that was always moving. Temple had to adapt to the new surroundings every time she moved to a new location. Creation Scientists will not adhere themselves or their beliefs to these rules, and therefore creationism can not be taught as a science, hence the name pseudoscience. The next debate on why creationism should not be taught in schools is based on The First Amendment. The First Amendment states that the government shall make no laws endorsing or prohibiting any religious believe. Public schools are funded by the government. Requiring the Biblical teachings of creationism to be taught in school promotes the Christian religion. According to the First Amendment, a public organization that is funded by the government can not promote one religion over another. For public schools to be able to comply with the First Amendment, they would have to offer equal time to every religion s view on the creation of life on Earth, which would be impossible and once again, turn a biology class into a theology class. • 26. Romantic Fiction Of Edvard Grieg The Romantic Fiction of Edvard Grieg Edvard Grieg is Norway s most beloved composer. His work in the late romantic era helped to create a national identity for the new country. However, despite the frail persona he has been assigned by society, his true personality was that of a Bergener, as seen through his letters and essays. The late Romantic Era (~1790 1910) was a time for experimentation. The individual composers, starting with Beethoven, moved away from the technical form of the baroque and classical periods. Instead this movement focused on emotions and national pride. Often, the Romantic era is placed next to the Classical era as an opposite. (Einstein 1980) History often treats Romanticism as a rebellious response to the technical Classical era that came beforehand. However, there are many overlaps between the two movements. Many romantic pieces followed the general structures and rules that were created in the Classical era, though many delved into chromatic progression. (Einstein 1980) The largest difference between the two is that romantic music has richer tones, and was heavily rooted in history. One of the main factors of romantic music is the tie to nationalism, and country wide pride. (Einstein 1980) These factors play a role in making Romantic music some of the most fascinating music to be composed. A composer that encompassed this idea of both rich tones and nationalism is Edvard Grieg. He was born on June 15, 1843, and as raised in Strandgaten, Norway. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fiction and nonfiction alike will give its readers a glimpse of the lives of those of varying social statuses, along with the culture and politics of the time. This remains true regardless of the period in which a work was written. From the Romantic era to the 20th Century, literature has been skilled at providing understanding of others and their lives. For example, from the Romantic period works like the two William Wordsworth poems I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud and The World is Too Much with Us, along with A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns. Language can mean a number of things in regards to literature, it can refer to the slang that is used, the way that the author phrased a sentence, or even the dialect that the work is written in. Authors like Robert Burns, Gerard Manley Hopkins, and W.H. Auden in particular make use of language in the first two ways mentioned as a way of reflecting their respective time periods. Robert Burn s A Red, Red Rose is a poem that makes perfect use of language in order to display the thoughts of the author, which in turn displays the general thoughts of the time as well as his own location. A Red, Red Rose is a rather romantic poem, and considering the era in which it was written makes it fairly obvious that other authors of the time were discussing similar subjects. When discussing the beauty of his love, Burn s use of language which talks of how, [...] fair art thou, my bonnie lass [...] sort of automatically puts the reader in a mindset that can better understand his life (Burns). Couple the more archaic way of writing with the dialect of the author, which is put on display in his goodbyes to his love in the lines, [...] And fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare thee weel awhile! And I will come again, my luve [...] (Burns). God s Grandeur by Gerard Manley Hopkins also use language in order to further the ideas of his time. While the Victorian period was one of great scientific advancements, it was also a time when Christianity was a very large part of people s lives. Hopkins uses solid, imposing words in order to enforce the concept of God s strength, as seen early on in his poem, where he states that, [...] The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil [...] (Hopkins). The author furthers the power of God by downplaying the strengths of mankind, ... Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise (Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever.
