Conjugation and Transposition in Escherichia Coli
Abstract
The purpose of this experiment was to study the transfer of genetic information on
plasmid F lac by using Escherichia coli. Plasmid transfer was measured by using two
different methods. The first one was by using selection and contraselection with three
antibiotics: streptomycin(which was replaced by naladixic acid for the second part of
the experiment),ampicillin and kanamycin and the second one by using a colour
indicator ( X gal). As significant results, the percentage of transfer for F lac was
higher than the percentage for transposition. Also, the experiment demonstrated that
E.coli can quickly acquire resistance to several different antibiotics through the

The Strain Theory asserts that people commit deviant acts when the strain of
society becomes too much for the person to handle. Often their deviance is due to
their feelings of anomie, meaningless, due to not understanding how the social
norms affect them. This is usually because the norms are are confusing or weak.
There is a social consensus in society about socially approved achievements and
goals. This consensus tells what one should strive for in order to achieve

In conclusion, I found this project to be somewhat difficult. I think this is mostly
due to the fact that I have never met Alex before and know relatively little about
him. This would include a more detailed list of his interests and the past books he

It was extremely helpful that we already had experience selecting books that were
nonfiction, multicultural and graphic novels. Furthermore, our discussion about
how valuable graphic novels are for teaching young readers to form mental
pictures really influenced my decision to select a graphic novel for Alex. I think
that this is one of the most valuable things I learned in this course this semester.
Also, something I learned that helped me make my decisions was our lesson on
analyzing nonfiction books. I learned to look for nonfiction text features within in
the books, such as glossaries, indexes, pictures, captions, table of contents, words
that are bold or italicized, etc. This knowledge allowed me to scan the nonfiction
books that I selected to see if they contained enough of these elements to provide an
ample amount of information and resources for Alex to use. Some personal

My main speculation from this assignment was definitely that people were much
more apt to make a complete stop while being observed rather than not being
observed. When people were being watched they usually stopped because someone
was watching or because they wanted to see who the random person was standing

Investment in the mining sector in Nigeria. It is argued that only those countries that
have reached a certain income level can absorb new technologies and benefit from
technology diffusion, and thus reap the extra advantages that FDI can offer. The
mining industry in Nigeria is dominated by oil. Indeed, Nigeria is the largest
producer of this commodity in Africa and sixth largest producers in the world. This
research study makes use of secondary data. The variables used are the Foreign Direct
Investment (FDI), gross domestic product (GDP), output of mining industry and per
capital flight (KF). This study covers a period of 31 years that spans between ... Show

negative. Positive impacts can include increased employment, better health care,
improved infrastructure and schooling. On the negative side there may be disruption
of traditional cultures, environmental degradation, basic commodity price increases,

It s true that many children have difficulties reading and writing well. However,
reading and writing is a coding / decoding process and is not linked to the number of
languages a child speaks, as such although it could involve multiple alphabets, and
then be a bit more work. Interestingly enough, access to multiple languages actually
makes it easier for children to understand the nature of language itself, which, in turn,
improves overall literacy skills. Research supports what many parents have long felt:
