2. Misrepresentation In Film
Representation of Females in the Film Industry
Introduction
This work is to write about the position of women in the film industry. Women had
played an important role in the growth of film industry playing a range of roles.
However, they have been marginalized and sexualized over the years. This is
evident with simplistic roles such as the femme fatele , which is a typical seductress
who will ultimately end the life or career of the male lead.
Women Advancement in the FilmIndustry
Additionally, statistics prove that women have not progressed as much as men have
in the industry. In the past, females wouldn t t have dominant roles in the industry
where as now we see an increase in women popularity in the industry. Recently, there

3. Personal Themes In A Stolen Life By Jaycee Dugard
She was alone, she was scared, she had no idea that her normal life would be taken
away for the next eighteen years... and hope is the sole reason that she survived it.
For kidnap victim, Jaycee Dugard, the word hope brings back a flood of emotions
and memories. In her chilling memoir, A Stolen Life , she describes a very
personal experience in which she encountered at age eleven, where she soon
learned just how important hope was. Dugard never saw it coming when a man
named Phillip Garrido stole her from that bus stop on just another normal
morning... or so she thought. Soon after, he took her away and held her hostage in
his backyard for almost two decades. Interestingly enough, she has miraculously
turned this cruel situation into a very inspiring story. Therefore, she proves to us
that even if you re living out your worst nightmare, you still have something to live
for. For this reason, Dugard puts together a descriptive setting, her absurd
relationship with her abductor, and personal symbols to illustrate how just a little
hope can be the essence of surviving any situation life throws at you. For starters, it
could have been the easiest thing in the world for Jaycee to lose hope by
becoming discouraged by the filthiness and disgust of the environment she was held
captive in for all of those years. She paints a picture of just how unpleasant her
setting was by describing how The desk had lots of junk on it...to the left of the door

4. How Did The First World War Change The World
According to a study done by USA TODAY in 1999, World War I was ranked
eighth in the top one hundred news stories of the twentieth century. The First
World War was and still is one of the most historical wars to go down in history,
changing the world forever. It was the first time there was a global conflict and
with the introduction of new technology, millions of soldiers and civilians lost
their lives. The Great War would haunt and alter the world for decades, becoming a
catalyst to so many historical events to come after it. The four year long war did
not end with the signing of the treaty of Versailles, it sent the world into shambles
and lived on by affecting the world socially, politically, economically,
psychologically and culturally. In the poems A War Film by Teresa Hooley, Dulce
Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, Education by Pauline Barrington, They by
Siegfried Sassoon and Disabled by Wilfred Owen, these effects of World War I

The disturbing imagery in the poem just reveals how death by poisonous gas must

was incredibly destructive. Gas was the most feared weapon of choice by soldiers in
WWI. These innovations changed how every single war to come after The Great War

The poem Education by Pauline Barrington speaks of a change in the culture and
society after The Great War. A mother watches her children playing with army toys,
wondering what was happening with the children of that age as they mimic a battle,

5. Adoption Vs Foster Care
Foster care differs from adoption in several ways. For example, when individuals
choose to become foster parents, they are not legally responsible for the child for
which they are caring. Instead, that legal responsibility remains on either the local
authority or the birthparents. In addition, foster care is temporary, although it can be
permanent in some scenarios. In most cases, though, it is only short term. Adoptionof
course gives legal responsibility to a new familyand is designed to be permanent in
nature. However, foster carecan be just as advantageous for a child as adoption for
various reasons.

6. The Geologic Record
It can be argued by some geologists that significantly more time is lost at bedding
planes than is recorded by the accumulation of sediment and its later lithification into
a sedimentary rock. In the present paper, the continuity of the sedimentary record is
investigated. It is hypothesized that sedimentary strata preserved predominately
records episodic sedimentation events and gaps represented by bedding planes
symbolize more time than the preserved strata. The incompleteness of the geologic
record and the role of rare events was studied using data gathered from a variety of
sedimentary outcrops and cores. The author addressed his hypothesis using this
collected data in terms of sedimentpreservation and represented preservation as a
function of two modes of geomorphic processes: Magnitude and frequency. The
author tested his hypothesis using relatively modern storm events to represent
sedimentation, showing how daily processes can distort the geologic record, and by
using ancient examples to illustrate how some storms can be preserved in spectacular
condition.
The results of this study support the hypothesis that the stratigraphic record represents
episodic phenomena rather than continuous deposition. When describing fluvial
processes, the study was significant in that infrequent, extremely high magnitude
fluvial events in a canyon located below base level leaves sediment deposits that are
preserved for a long period of time. In contrast, frequent floods occurring the
7. The Election Of A New President
ntroduction
The election of a new president can shift the policies of the United States in different
directions. From 2009 to 2017, Barrack Obama and his administration used a liberal,
globalist approach to foreign policy and domestic policy. Obama involved the United
States in global affairs and in treaties with other states. The election of President
Donald Trump reversed the globalist, liberal policies the U.S. had pursued for 8
years. President Trump has shown and stated that he supports an isolationist and
realist approach to foreign policy. Therefore, President Trump has made campaign
statements on defense, terrorism, trade, national security, and immigration that
subscribes to the realist paradigm.

. The budget increase for the DOD was 9 percent (52 billion dollars), in addition to
a 7 percent (2.8 billion dollars) increase in funding to the Department of Homeland
Security (Soffen and Lu). This budget increase is to help accomplish the goals
President Trump outlined on the campaign trail as mentioned previously. However,
this change did not come without costs to other departments such as a 31 percent
decrease in budget for the EPA and a 29 percent decrease in the StateDepartment s
budget. The action taken toward the budget and defense spending shows evidence
that president Trump subscribes to the realist paradigm and believes that the self
interests and protection of the state is the most important thing compared to
environmental protection and other liberal ideals.
Immigration
The issue of illegal immigration and the magnitude that occurs in the United States
was an issue voters cared about in the 2016 election. Throughout the campaign,
President Trump made controversial remarks about Mexico and Mexicans. President
Trump stated that he would build a wall along the southern border of Mexico, deport
over eleven million illegal immigrants, deny citizen ship to children born by illegal
immigrants inside the United States, and increasing border security. First, President
Trump is working on developing a plan for the wall and securing funding from

But how humor is used in the present situation of English teaching in senior high
schools?
II. The Present Situation of English Teaching in Senior High Schools In the 20th
century, numerous English teaching methods had emerged; however, all of them, the
most popular one about 1980s, have not reached a satisfying result. Thus, from 1990s,
the main idea of English teaching does not consider method as an important aspect of
English teaching. Because the methods ignore the fact that the learning process is
conceived in the interactive activity with other people, and the English teaching
environments such as culture, politics are also ignored. Under this main tendency the
English curriculum standard was formulated by our national education department,
English teaching takes a social constructivism as its theoretical foundation. This
English teaching method classifies the different positions of teachers and students in
the classroom. It points out the teacher is no longer the focus in the classroom and
the role of teacher is transformed from a knowledge provider to a students helper and
instructor. And these standards need the special language use by teachers, namely,
the humor. There are some characters of the traditional English teaching system. The
first, teachers try their best to make any possible way to improve students marks.
Some of the teachers should be respected for their effort, but they use wrong methods,

9. The Ethical Ethics Of The Court System
Abstract
This paper is going to be over the ethical misconduct that comes when working for
or in a court system. Daily there are criminals being sent to prison and being
released from prison; some for crimes that they committed, some for crimes that
they were just there at the wrong time for. But is there ever a time where people
are sent to serve a sentence for a crime they did not commit? The answer is yes.
Many of the public do not have a strong liking for lawyers, judges, or mainly just
people that work within the federal or state government. Reason being, sometimes
you may have to question the fairness, equity or the integrity of the person to know
if they are coming from a good place or not. As a lawyer this may be hard to prove ...

The amendments that were set into place were structured to give certain guidelines
that were to be followed by the judicial system and how it should be operated. As

otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury nor
shall any person be subject for the same offense to be in jeopardy of life or limb; nor
shall be compelled in any criminal case to be witness against himself, nor be
deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law this is to be strictly

whomever is being represented.
Judiciary Duties and Ethics
When it comes to the ethical standards that are to be delivered and expressed it is not
only the judge s position to do so, but along with lawyers and jurors as well. The 12
juror system, though not always works out in some cases, it is there so that when
a defendant is charged with a crime, he or she could be fairly tried by an impartial
jury of their peers. Unfortunately, jurors can never be 100% impartial, some of are
going to be biased in some way or another and will always be affected by the
outsiders. The average juror is either not capable of or not competent to accurately
decide what the manipulations of the lawyers mean and what the court room or the

why)? The counselingprofessionis not only the newest profession of its kind, but also

distance counseling and an integrated approach including the use of technology. The
counseling profession has been in the forefront. While other professions are still

modern age.

Describe at least three ways that you could be professionally engaged in the
counseling profession. Being a professional, goes beyond one s role as a counselor.
Being a professional includes advocating for my clients and for the advancement of
the profession. As a professional, one should also engage in networking within the
profession and with collaborating professions. A professional also requires one to
maintain continuing education and to take advantage of training opportunities.
Another important part of the professional field includes conducting research that
will lead to betterment of the field of service.

11. Jocasta Tragic Hero
Tragic Hero The definition of a tragic hero has become an issue of contention as
many scholar come up with their definitions. In addition, tragic heroes make
decisions that destroy them in the end of the story; however the decisions are
always good for them or for the society. In Oedipus Rex, the protagonist Oedipus is
depicted as a tragic herobecause of his strength, nobility, and his determination to
find the murderer. In most tragic hero stories and plays, the tragic hero does
something good for the people that eventually destroy him or her. In addition,
Jocasta cannot be considered as a tragic hero in the story because she had tragic
flaws, which later led to her downfall. Jocasta is a characterin the story Oedipus the

At the end of the story, Jocasta committed suicide because, she realized that, the
prophesy was true and she was truly married to her son, who had earlier on killed
his father. Tragic heroes never make such mistakes; instead, they save the situation
even if it means giving up their lives. Even though Jocasta tried to give up her son
to die, she never made sure that h died. Moreover, even after her husband was
killed, she could have investigated what really happened, instead, she went ahead to
marry the king, who was her son. For this reason, Jocasta cannot be considered as a
tragic hero in the story second to Oedipus because, she commits an action that
ultimately destroys her, yet she could have saved her life and become a tragic
hero. Therefore, Jocasta cannot be considered as a tragic hero because, a tragic
hero is the main character in the story, who holds great powers and does good
deeds, yet for her, she was second to Oedipus because she was not the main
character, and her bad deeds outshines her good deeds. Jocasta was disloyal to her
husband, which led to his killing, and she did nothing to find out about his death.
Even though her life ended up miserably by committing suicide, Oedipus is the tragic

Crisis involved with loss of other human being is the intensive of all types of crises.
This paper I will be talking mainly about grief through people loss, as it is something,
which happens suddenly, and which can also lead into intense grief. In this paper I
want to also talk about how we as a Christian and especially as a pastor will be able
to cope with or help a person that is undergoing this grief situation. This is because
many of the times when we see someone undergoing this kind of crisis of grief, we
tend to ignore it or we try to take over the grief to ourselves. Worst of all this when

This kind of grieve is the one which has to be looked most into. As this has greater
danger of affecting the individual physically and emotionally. The symptoms of this
kind of grief are as follows:
a. There is an inability to express emotions as in the normal grief. This causes to
have still extreme feelings for the loss and those affected by it.
b. In addition to the symptoms of the normal grief, these kinds of individuals tend to
show more pathological symptoms like: intense depression, anger and loneliness.
When these kinds of people are not properly attended, they tend top have a number of
other physical and mental problems, like asthma, heart problems, suicidal thoughts
and attempts, and other illnesses.
c. In morbid grief, the person suffering has a serious struggle with his faith in God,
often resulting in not attending the church anymore. Most of them change to
becoming sinners; they find fascinations in cult practices to get in contact with the
dead ones, etc.

PASTORAL COUNSELLING AND THE PHASES OF GRIEF The purpose of this

counselling. This understanding of the grief process is very important for a pastoral

15. The Day Of Doom By Wigglesworth
Everyone comes into the world as sinners, and God only saves the elect, the
predestined chosen ones. Defining who the elect and who the sinners are is unclear;
thus, Puritans live a moral life, constantly practicing religion, in hopes of being an
elect. In The Day of Doom, Wigglesworth depicts the feebleness of earthly relations
when in the face of God. Judgment Day clarifies the once ambiguous distinction
between the elect and sinners, harshly dividing family members from each other.
Wigglesworth s poem instills fear in Puritans to continue their religious practices
(faith in Puritanbeliefs, read scripture, pray, etc.) so as not to fall into temptations,
which would rid them of any chance to be an elect. Wigglesworth utilizes meter,
rhyme, and biblical allusions to connect his audience, the Puritan community, with
his version of Judgment Day, painting a picture of destruction due to the division of
the elect and sinners. In stanzas 195 201 of The Day of Doom, the poet talks of
parents, partners, children, and siblings being sentenced to Hell and the apathy
shown at those moments. By including these relationships, Wigglesworth presents
his image of God s wrath to those of all ages, creating a great fear of straying from
the Puritan beliefs. The poem has a huge audience of the Puritan community, but the
rhyme and meter of the poem are for the children s practice in religion. A huge
problem in Puritanism is where the children stand in God s eyes. So parents had their
16. The Betrays Of Betrayals In William Shakespeare s Julius...
While reading the story of Julius Caesar (William Shakespeare) there is many lies
and many lairs. So much betrayal is going around it is no surprise when
Shakespeare threw another one at us by using Brutus to kill off Caesar. One more
betrayal to top it off. Although, some people think differently and believe that
Brutus was a patriot. Some believe that even though Brutus committed a crime, he
was trying to do the right thing. He wanted to end Caesars reign for the good of
Rome and for the good people of Rome. This is in fact true. Brutus wanted to
protect Rome. He believed that in his heart, if something was not done, Rome
would not be Rome much longer. However, the way he went about it was wrong.
Though his heart was in the right place, his head was not. After all, the road to hell
is paved with good intentions. Had it been anyone else there is no doubt that they
would have been killed but Brutus was the most noble man in Rome thus giving
him a chance to redeem himself by winning the peoples favor. After killing Caesar,
he was to give a speech. In this speech, he was to give an explanation as to why he
killed Caesar. Surprisingly a simple thing to do since he committed treason. When
Brutus spoke, the romans agreed with what he was saying. However, they soon
changed their minds when Anthony was asked to speak as well. In his speech, he
used logic and emotions to reach the audience and speak to them. It is because of this
that he gained the peoples favor. One of the main
17. Galileo s Condemnation
Galileo s condemnation held by the Roman Catholic Church has been regarded as
wrong, 350 years after he was charged with heresy. The many years it has taken for
the Church to recognize its wrongdoing may have been due to the Church s
resistance to admit their misdeed and their need to stand firm on recognizing past
beliefs and practices. This unique apology sparsely occurs, with The Vatican s formal
acknowledgement of error...is a rarity in an institution built over centuries on the
belief that the Church is the final arbiter in matters of faith, (Cowell 1). After years of
contemplating whether or not to publicly announce the rightness of Galileo, the
Vatican may have wanted to finally apologize on behalf of the Church to set it straight

This is quite ironic, considering the Church originally did not want Galileo s findings
held as true in fear that they would lose their credibility in interpretation the Bible.
The Church s apology does bring unity between science and faith, with Galileo
writing to the Duchess Christina of Tuscany that He [God] would not require us to
deny sense and reason in physical matters of direct experience, (Document A). When
the Church finally recognized Galileo s studies as scientifically correct and proven, it
shows that religion can coincide with science and that one can be based off of
another. Although there is still conflict today regarding theological beliefs and
scientific findings, the Church s apology was the stepping stone for acceptance
among people and ideas globally. In conclusion, the apology to Galileo has made a
profound effect on the way science and religion interact in today s society and how
having an open mind to ideas everywhere can change the way one perceives the

of the island. In 2010, less than 2,000 visitors came to Tuvalu, with 65% of them
coming for business. The official languages are Tuvaluan and English.

The Republic of San Marino, also known as the Most Serene Republic of San

In this piece of writing I want to portray how important this film is and the incredible
ideas it shows. Room is an outstanding film that tells a heart breaking story of a
mother and son that have been held captive. As the film develops it shows how strong
their bond is and that with each other they can get through the hardest things they
would have to face. The director Lenny Abrahamson used many important aspects
such as themes, characters, events and cinematography to create such a memorable
film. This film should definitely be seen by anyone interested, as it captures
unforgettable moments and gets you thinking about important issues the world faces
with in today s society. The impact this film leaves is enormous.

Film techniques were very important in the film room as they helped give meaning to
the film. Lenny Abrahamson used lots of close up camera shots to capture emotion
and give a better understanding on how the characters are feeling. It creates a
sense of connection and makes you feel their emotions and thoughts they are going
through. Low angle shots were used for Old Nick (Sean Bridgers) to show the
power and control he had over Ma and Jack, but Ma especially. Eye level angle
shots were used with certain characters such as Ma, to create a sense of comfort
and to allow the viewers to feel comfortable with that character. Panning shots were
used inside room to show the horrible situation Jack and Ma were in. Dull lighting
was used as well inside room to give a shadowy, unsafe feeling to it. I think that the
cinematography in this film was exceptional and that it played a big part in making
this film so meaningful and
20. Plato and Confucius
Separated by more than 8500 kilometers but only 52 years, two seminal thinkers
have shaped the moral philosophy of their respective cultures. While Western ethical
theory has been deeply influenced by Plato s Republic, Eastern ethical theory has
been deeply influenced by Confucius s Analects. David Haberman describes the
Republic as one of the most influential books of all time (86). And Bryan Van Norden
compares (with considerable fervor) the Analects to the combined influence of Jesus
and Socrates(3).
On the surface, there are many similarities between Confucius and Plato. Both taught

The term seems to have a more ethical meaning. Some have argued that it is better

of Confucius s meaning.12
Kwon Loi Shun claims the meaning of the original word itself is clouded by
competing views. He states that in the Analects ren is used both more narrowly to
refer to one desirable quality among others, and more broadly to refer to an all
encompassing ethical ideal (53).
While Confucius s definition of ren is not explicitly stated, it is intimated, and its
parallels with dikaiosune are notable:
1.
Confucius s concept of ren entails a wide scope of meaning. It is described as
something that includes other desirable qualities (Kwong Loi Shun: 53).13
2.
But it is also listed as one desirable quality among others such as courage and
wisdom (W9.29, W14.28).
3.
Ren is a virtue, which regulates our relationships with others. Confucius said the
direction which unifies everything and the single saying that can keep watch on one s
actions throughout one s life is this: considerateness that which one disfavors, apply
not to others (W4.15, W12.2, W15.24).

21. Patriarchy In Westeros
Even though Cersei does enjoy the power that comes with being Queen, she
resents her marriage. Just like Daenerys, she would have never settle for being a
political tool. Cersei wishes to encourage her power and conquer those who stand
in her way, which is really no different than what we see from Daenerys. But
viewers do not see Cersei through the same sympathetic eyes as they see Daenerys
even though they are both popular for beauty rather than intelligence and were sold
off to men who could politically help their families. Cersei and Daenerys have to
work hard in order to be respected and taken seriously by men around them because
they are females. They are both fighters, struggling against the extreme patriarchy in
Westeros. But one is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ladette offers the most shallow model of gender equality; it suggest that women
could or should adopt the most anti social and pointless of male behavior as a sign
of empowerment (Whelehan, 9). Cersei would never label herself as a feminist
since she struggles with the fact that she s a woman. Though there are moments
where she makes herself equal to men. For example, when she questioned her
father about her lack of power or when she has sex with whomever she wanted.
That isn t something that should be proud of but Cersei chose her own sexual
partners even when so much is taken from women already. She can stand up for
herself, even against her husband. But looking at bell hooks theory, Cersei isn t
considered a feminist because she oppresses others as well as her hate for women.
She considers them weak, naturally inferior to men. It also doesn t help that Cersei
wishes that she could be a man because she craves masculine power. She has a thirst
for power that men in Westeros have as she views masculinity as superior. My last
point is that she believes that she deserves to overcome the power inequalities but not
by changing the system of patriarchy for others in Westeros but rather for
22. Examples Of Code Of Ethics
ABSTRACT
Ethics is not something people can choose to have or not and to follow or not in
health care. Ethics play an important role in this area, establishing structures and
setting boundaries. Fact is: a code of ethics should be shaped after citizens morals
that abide by the law of a country and each country will most likely have a different
behavior and by that will have different prospects leading to different codes of ethics.
A personal code of ethics does not come unattached from morals and values of
oneself, that being said it should aid on the application of a professional code of

24. Figurative Language In Julie Lechevsky s Dandelion
The poem by Julie Lechevsky titled Dandelion has fantastic examples of qualities
such as story, imagery, figurative language, and tone inside the text of the poem.
Lines such as Home, where they make you do what you don t want to do, give an
insight as to what goes on inside the poem as far as the previous qualities. Poems
like this help the reader understand what they are reading, while at the same time
making a person question what the true meaning is. For example, the story of
Dandelion appears to be a story about how the dandelion relating to the poet s life,
such as in lines like But that s how life parachutes to my home. These examples are
helpers in relating the reader to the poet s train of thought by using sentences to
relate the two. The story in this poem, when interpreted like this, can be seen as the
poet relating her home to a dandelion. The dandelion Is strong on the inside, Has its
parts stick together, and how It clings to its fragile self. All of these lines could
possibly relate to the poet s home and family, and how no one expects them to achieve
anything through life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

we can pull much needed information too deeply understand the poet and what she
goes through while writing her poems. The poet s thought process needs to be

Based on my understanding of the facts presented to the class by Mrs. Adams through
her teachings and handouts while learning about the Constitution and The Ten
Amendments also known as The Bill of Rights, the Federalist and Anti Federalist are
two political groups who viewed the government differently. The Federalist felt that
the Constitution needed to stay the same, but the Anti Federalist felt that change was
needed to give the people most or at least more power. They felt that amendments
now known as the Bill of Rights should be added to the Constitution. Something else
I learned was that The Federalist wanted a loose interpretation of the laws. This
means that the law needed to be followed by what the meaning of the laws are. If

The Federalist were led by Alexander Hamilton. He led the Federalist group
because like them he believed in a strong central government. With a strong central
government they believed that it would promote trade and industry. Most

were really supportive of the Federalist group. The Anti Federalist also known as
the Democratic Republicans leaders were Thomas Jefferson and James Madison
who greatly disliked Hamilton s proposals. This group just like the other were
supported by a different part of the state they were supported by the up country. One
of the biggest problems between the Federalist and Anti Federalists was over the
creation of a national bank. The Federalist supported the National Bank. Previously
stated in this paper it only means exactly what the words say. If you were a Federalist
then you would know in the Constitution it did not say that they could do that strictly.
Now with the Federalist they argued that the government was granted access to make
any laws necessary for tax and commerce which was granted to the government in the

The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, is centered on Bilbo Baggins, the classical hero
who starts out as an average hobbit in an immense world, goes on an adventure and
begins find his special gifts that are unique to him, and returns to his old way of
life having been changed forever. Bilbo Baggins is a very respectable hobbit living
in the Shire. He is just a tiny speck in the vast expanse of Middle Earth and what
lies beyond. By a rule, hobbits are to strive for respect from their fellow hobbits.
Consequently, it is extremely rare and looked down upon for a hobbit such as
Bilbo to venture out of his comfortable hobbit hole and embark on an adventure . In
Bilbo s own words, adventures are nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make
you late for dinner! So like a classical hero, Bilbo starts out as an everyman denying
any sort of adventures that come his way. However he may deny it, his Tookish
side, or the more adventurous side of his ancestry, is ever present within Bilbo. The
dwarves, also on this adventure along with Bilbo, can t see any use in bringing him
along, but Gandalf the wizard assures them that Bilbo has greatness within him and
they will one day thank him for bringing him. As he says himself while talking to
the dwarves, I brought him, and I don t bring things that are of no use. If we can

27. Bernard Rieux The Plague
Albert Camus uses the narrative of The Plague to impose catastrophic and absurd
suffering upon a town and examine how its inhabitants behave. Through the divergent
characterization of a humanist Bernard Rieux and a pious Paneloux, Camus explores
human responses to the inevitable problem of evil in order to insinuate that while
enduring despair, reason will always win out over faith.
Bernard Rieux, the main character (and narrator unbeknownst to the readers until the
end), is Camus prominent advocate of the idea that a person should live life, not as
an idealistic thinker but as a realistic, committed member of society. As a doctor,
Rieux is the character that initiates immediate action against the imminent, rapidly
spreading plague. He sees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Camus undoubtedly characterizes Rieux as the voice of reason in The Plague,
and though Rieux only sees himself as a man simply doing his job as it should be
done (41), he can easily be regarded as brave and almost heroic. The doctor
continually risks his life to handle cases of the plague during the epidemic while
believing that a bigger reward like man s salvation (219) from God is unattainable.
Rieux never doubts his reasoning that [man s] health comes first (219), showing
that reason is always effective. Paneloux s beliefs of faith, on the other hand, are
inconsistent, especially after witnessing a child s death. His argument before
witnessing the death is that the plague is God s punishment for all of the
townspeople s sins. There is no rational explanation for the death of the child,
however, and the Father s only response to it is that we should love what we do not
understand (218). Camus refutes this argument with the death of the innocent child; a
death so painful it causes Paneloux to frantically yell My God, spare this child!
(217). Finding it difficult to love a scheme of things in which children are put to
torture (218), Rieux says he simply cannot believe in a God that allows such things to
happen. Rieux s thoughts communicate Camus beliefs that faith has no real merit in
the midst of calamity. Camus

What is Premarital Counseling?
Premarital Counseling is defined as a type of therapy that helps couples prepare for
marriage and it is often provided by a licensed therapist. Therapist is known as a
marriage or family therapist. There are also the options of seeking counseling
through your religious institution if that works better for you and your future spouse
(Mayo Clinic Staff, 2013) .

Doing so will strengthen you and your spouse s relationship prior to marriage and
perhaps get some things in check first. Premarital counseling also teaches
communication and conflict resolution techniques. This will help to increase the
level of marital satisfaction. It is also found/suggested that greater communication
skills reduce the risk of divorce. The counseling should also bring up discussions
that are vital to a couple s relationship. Whatever these things are they should be
hatched out before so there are no surprises in the relationship. These issues may be
minor or major depending on what s discussed. This may be a time to sort out like
gender roles, expectations, and finances most importantly. Premarital counseling is
basically making you aware of strengths and growth areas therefore insuring a happy
and long future together as one (Stebbins, 2011; Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010).
Types of Premarital Counseling
As stated earlier there are various approaches to premarital preparation simply
because there are some many different types of people to connect to the different
approaches offered (Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010). Furthermore there has been no
significant evidence that says that any one approach is more effective than others
(Duncan, Childs Larson, 2010). So based on information found

it The article Ethics on the Web: Applying Moral Decision Making to the New
Media, written by Linda Sama and Victoria Shoaf, provides a thorough overview of
the legal issues concerning e business, including the implications of the various ways
in which business in the New Media is more ethically compromised than traditional
business procedures. Although the article was nearly ten years ago and is largely
concerned with e business ability to sustain itself (and whether it will be able to
prolong its existence), the vast majority of the concerns elucidated in the article are
still applicable in the present moment and constitute inherent risks stemming from the
medium itself. Specifically, central concerns include the fact that companies are not
in immediate proximity with their clients, that there is now more information at
companies disposal and that business practice is now ends based rather than rules
based. The lack of physical proximity between companies and their clients is perhaps
the greatest issue concerning the ethical integrity of business conducted on the internet
. Shama and Shoaf place great emphasis on the legal issues stemming from this,
stating that the Digital Age has ushered in a climate in which companies can hide

than those of the client. Companies have no obstacles preventing

SDLC Models The quality of a software highly depend on the process that is
followed in the organization for the projects. There are a large number of projects
failed in the software nowadays due to lack of a SDLC (Software Development
Life Cycle) model or selecting a poor SDLC model for their projects. By selecting
right software process model a better and high quality product can be found within
budget and time (Neha Satinder Pal, 2011). SDLC models are tools that allow the
development team to correctly follow the SDLC Steps to create software that
meets a business need (Purcell, n.d). According to Hoffer, Ramesh and Topi: The
SDLC is a complete set of steps that a team of information systems professionals,
including database designers and programmers, follow in an organization to
specify, develop, maintain, and replace information systems. Textbooks and
organizations use many variations on the life cycle and may identify anywhere
from 3 to 20 different phases. (P.65) There are different models defined for the
systems development in today s world. Some of them have seven steps involved in
it and others have 4. The traditional SDLC models have 4 phases involved.
However, later few of the phases have been further split and made 7 phase models. 7

In the world, there are approximately 75,000,000 horses and 350 breeds of horses
that can be found around the world (circlerranch.com). Horses are amazing and
beautiful creatures that may be used as show horses or a family pet. Show horses
require many hours of daily preparation in order to be competitive in the show ring.
I have grown up with horses my whole life. I watched my mother show horses and
followed in her footsteps. The most important aspects of show day are the
appearance and the way the horsepresents itself to the horse judge. The judge will

In order to be muscular the horse needs proper exercise. Backing and trotting are the
main exercises that the trainer should concentrate on. Backing builds up a horse s
hind end, while trotting creates even muscles on each side of the horse. Exercising
helps the horse in many ways. It doesn t only give it firm and sculpt muscles; it
affects its overall health too.
Shampooing and conditioning the horse is extremely important. The horse should
be beautiful and spotless. Never put conditioner in the horse s mane if the horse is
going to have its mane braided or banded for a show because the bands will slip
out. There are many different braiding styles for the horse s mane, there is a hunter
braid, a running braid, and a continental braid (Raspberryridge.com). The horse s
mane can even be banded. Horse s manes will differ from horse to horse, based on
the size of the horse, how bulky the neck is, and what it looks like with the overall
structure and build of the horse. Quarter horses and thoroughbreds look better with
short manes. Arabians and gaited horses prefer longer manes (Baker).
A stripping blade is a good tool to use to cut the mane. The stripping blade has
sharp teeth and a wooden handle. It is used similarly to how a hair stylist uses a
razor. Just hold a small chunk of hair tight in one hand, and slice downwards with the
stripping blade in the other (Baker). A week before the horse show, the horses

Bradbury
Technology today has advanced and impacted our way of living and the
dependence on it has become a natural habit for our society. People today depend
on their phones for numerous things such as, talking, messaging, driving
directions, surfing the web or even to update their current Facebook status. Many
people say that since they rely so heavily on technology, it has been known to
weaken our society s ability to open a book or newspaper to find information
instead of looking at your phone. Technology has become a crutch for our
generation today and without it we would fail. There have been inferences that
technology will ruin us and lead us to extinction. In Ray Bradbury s short story
There Will Come Soft Rains , he purveys speculation that technology is the cause of
downfall in society and that nature will outlast man s creation. August 4, 2026, in
Allendale, California, everything is made easy for the family who occupy a
technologically advanced home that caters to their every need. Every morning
breakfast is made, the date is announced, information is given on friends and bills
that need to be paid. Little mice clean and do the chores around the house. This all
changed on August 4th when the house becomes eerily quiet, with no family insight.
The family is gone but silhouettes of a man, woman and two small children are
painted alongside the house. A nuclear explosion wipes out the city, the town is
desolate with just rubble and ashes left behind. A fire erupts and the

35. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Birch
BIRCH (balanced iterative reducing and clustering using hierarchies) is an
unsupervised data mining algorithm used to achieve hierarchical clustering over
particularly huge data sets. An advantage of Birch is its capacity to incrementally and
dynamically cluster incoming, multi dimensional metric data points in an effort to
generate the best quality clustering for a given set of resources (memory and time
constraints). In most cases, Birch only requires a single scan of the database. In
addition, Birch is accepted as the, first clustering algorithm proposed in the database
area to handle noise (data points that are not part of the underlying pattern) efficiently.
Clustering Feature and CF Tree
The idea of Clustering Feature and CF tree are at the core of BIRCH S incremental
clustering. A Clustering Feature is a triple summarizing the information that we
maintain about a cluster.
Definition: Known N d dimensions data points in a cluster :{Xi} where i=1, 2,...,

Century...
One of the most successful inventions of the 20th Century is the Television. Many
describe Television as a way to connect with the wider world, with some even going
as far as to use the device to escape from everyday life for an hour or two. Now,
thanks to increasing technological developments, this escape can be made
considerably easier with the introduction of mobile TV the use of Smartphones,
tablets, and arguably most prominently, computers and laptops, bringing with it the
expansion of online Televisionservices such as Netflix.
The reason for exceptional developments in Television can be based off of the large
growth in technology, and thus has led to an increased demand from its viewers.
Despite the immense popularity with computer gaming and the Internet, Television
still remains the most popular medium in New Zealand. However, before the likes
of Netflix, there were no online providers. TV consumers outnumbered online
users for years after the initial developments, as content was better on a Television
rather than online due to the lack of variety and services available digitally over
the Internet. Consumers watched Television for the escape from reality for an hour
or two, and this was unavailable on a computer as there were no websites or
Networks offering the content users wanted. A Nielsen study in 2012 on the media
devices owned by people showed that 290 Million Americans (or around 92%)
owned at least one Television, compared to 192 Million Americans that

Beowulf leans more towards heaven because people look up to him to save them

very important roll is this story because Beowulf and even the demon and
monsters use it.Beowulf believes he can fight off Grendel without his armor which
can also be showing his bravery. Grendel shows more physical strength because he
is much more bigger than Beowulf and the fact that he kills so many people and

The Sherman Anti Trust Act of 1890 was passed to prohibit trusts, this was the first
law passed by U.S. Congress to enforce this. This act was named after Senator John
Sherman. Before this act was put into place, many other states had enforced laws
very similar to the Sherman Anti Trust Act. These laws were not perfect though, the
large corporations had the majority of the economic power. Congress was not
pleased with this, thus making the Sherman Anti Trust Act. This act allowed
Congress to regulate interstate commerce, outlawing monopolistic practices. If a
person were to violate this act, he or she could be imprisoned for a year and fined
five thousand dollars. This law was successfully used to help Theodore Roosevelt
during his campaign, trust busting . Also, President Taft used the law to back himself
up against the Standard Oil Trust and American Tobacco Company. The Standard Oil
trust was when a board of nine trustees was set up to make all of the company
decisions , allowing the company to run as a monopoly. The Sherman Anti Trust Act
allowed both presidents to dissolve the trusts that were creating problems. On the
other hand, the Sherman Anti Trust Act had many holes, it did not have exact
wording, therefore allowing companies to still control the majority of the producing

Intelligence as being a set of skills of problem solving enabling the individual to

The effects of ultraviolet radiation are the cause of eye disease
The twenty first century is the century of developing everything on this planet, which
has been developed by the human. While humans were developing their house, doing
activities, using transportation, structuring manufacturing industry, burning the fuel
and cutting the tree, these activities bring toxins into the atmosphere and destroyed
the ozone. Depletion of ozone in the stratosphere are thought to lead to increased
levels of ultraviolet radiation on earth (1), all of which there are three types of

Pinguecula and pterygium are more common in middle aged or older people who
spend a lot of time in the sun. These diseases can avoid risk factors and treatment by
wearing sunglasses, wearing a hat or using an umbrella. Using artificial tears in
people who have eye irritation can help relieve irritation and improve the eye
comfort. The patients who have a tissue cover into the pupil will need eye surgery.
Furthermore, another part of the eye affected by ultraviolet radiation is the lens and
the eye disease in this part is a cataract, which cataract disease is caused by
degeneration of the lens and symptoms with a blurred vision as a fog, hindering the

41. Literary Analysis Of Absalom And Achiophel By John
Dryden
Absalom and Achiophel : the wondrous satirical poem written by John Dryden
himself which features the many different ways of inviting humorous and satirical
aspects of the Popish plot to light. George Villiers, the second duke of Buckingham,
was no exception for Dryden. So much so that the footnotes of the couplets involving
George even states that the section on George was The least political of the satirical
portraits in the poem (Noggle, 2226). Claiming that George Villiers, in Dryden s eyes,
was not fit to be a leader in the Popish plotwas an extreme understatement as he
painted an overwhelmingly satirical image of how George was not only incapable
of making an impact in the Popish plot, but is upright a fool to society. Dryden, in
the process of painting this satirical imagery, also uses George as an example of
showing consequentialism in action.
In Absalom and AchitophelDryden begins with writing how George Villier only
positive credential of being part of the popish plot is that he comes from his
royalty in Buckingham as his other credentials lack in uniqueness when compared
to the other members of society. He eludes that George Villier became a chief of
the Popish plot because he was one of the princes of the land (543). Ironically,
however, this is followed up by Dryden describing him as A man so various, that he
seemed to be / Not one, but all mankind s epitome (545 546). Claiming him to be a
chief in this context is ironic in the sense that he

This process is started when the patient is still a child, often before any other
orthodontic treatment has begun. However, it can still be performed during later
stages of treatment.
Dentofacial orthopedic therapy usually focuses on correcting potential bite and
spacial problems by guiding the growth and development of the jaw. We do this by
using orthodontic appliances such as mouthguards, space maintainers, retainers,
expanders, and other devices.
This process is important because it helps to ensure the success of later orthodontic
treatment. In some cases, it can even prevent the need for braces down the road! For
instance, if a child s spacing issues can be resolved while their jaw is still developing
and their permanent teeth are still coming in, it may prevent teeth from becoming
crowded and needing braces to straighten them. Even if it doesn t prevent crowding
completely, it will certainly help the later orthodontic treatment to work faster and
more efficiently.

Internal and External Conflicts
Macbeth is a tragedy by William Shakespeare that is thought to have been first
performed in 1606. It dramatizes the damaging physical and psychological effects of
political ambition on those who seek power for its sake. Every day, people deal with
conflicts with their peers. In the play Macbeth, there are examples of internal and
external conflicts and how the resolution the former affect the latter; which is shown
through the theme of the corrupting power of unchecked ambition, events of the
novel and lastly how resolving the issues for example how the killing of King Duncan
affected him externally.

he killed Duncan. The resolution of this conflict involves Macbeth trying to prove
his manhood of his wife. He later murders Duncan, the King of Scotland. Secondly,
another external conflict occurs when he encounters Banquo who challenges
Macbeth in the dark of night, being unable to tell whether Macbeth is friend or foe.
Once Macbeth ironically greets Banquo as a friend, the external conflict arises as
Macbeth has to dissemble and deceive Banquo when Banquo confesses to being
unnerved by the witches predictions. Lastly, During Act I, Macbeth struggles with the
concept of killing Duncan. He likes Duncan, and he wants to let fate takes its course.
Lady Macbeth persuades him otherwise, and he ultimately gives in to his desires of
becoming King. Macbeth externally must kill the sleeping Duncan and his

the case, pharmaceutical companies can t rely on one particular product to provide

the world.
Brand Name
Bristol Myers Squibb s gains competitive parity from its brand name in that it has a
good reputation for creating products that work well and are safe. This provides
value to the customer because they know that the product was heavily researched
before it was marketed to the general public.
However, this is not rare among firms in this industry as all new products must be
cleared by the Food and Drug Administration before it can be marketed which gives
consumers a certain amount of security when choosing a product regardless of
who produced it. This also means that it is somewhat easy to imitate. Once you get
past the start up costs, if you produce a product that is not already patented and is
approved by the FDA, your product is just as good as the competitors. The reason
for the lack of rarity and ease of imitability of the brand name is that, like other
pharmaceutical companies, Bristol Myers Squibb does not push the brand name but
rather the name they have assigned to their product. The company s name does not
appear in any of its product s advertisements. This being the case they must diversify
their product line.

factors (3)
The purpose of the report inspired by the above statement made on the Brundtland
Report, 1987, is to link the concept of environmental sustainability to architecture and
in particular in the context of city planning, building design and materials. The topic
was chosen by the author as is in direct relation with his discipline of Civil and
structural engineering.
The way buildings are constructed and decommissioned has a major impact on the
environment as well as the society itself. The incorporation of sustainability in the
architectural design can help the creation of self sufficient, stable, economically
viable communities. The ecological footprint of a structure in terms of an individual
unit or a whole set of units composing a metropolis, should not have a detrimental
effect to the already heavily affected by humans natural environment (4).
There is a way through smart design, innovative thinking and technological
innovation to not only limit the detrimental effects of the construction but also make
a positive contribution to environment and cater in a better way for the people s
physical and psychological wellbeing(4, 5).
Several paradigms in the main body of the report do demonstrate that the

The Lion King was a festive and fantastic production. The success relied heavily on
its use of masks and costumes to make the production a complete musical. For
starters, director Julie Taymor turned the cartoon movie s story into a musical that
takes not only the movie, but also the concept of theatrical spectacle to a new level.
The cartoon characters have been reinvented with wildly imaginative masks and
puppets, (co designed by Michael Curry) with actors and mask/puppets clearly

55. Monetary Policy Vs Fiscal Policy
Monetary Policy vs Fiscal Policy
There are two powerful tools that the government and the Federal Reserve use to
direct our economy in the right direction Fiscal Policy and Monetary Policy. When
these tools are used appropriately, they can fuel the economy and slow it down
when it is growing too fast. Fiscal policy is concerned with government spending
and collecting taxes. With the fiscal policy, you can increase government spending
and decrease taxes to increase disposable income for people as well as corporations.
Monetary Policy on the other hand refers to the supply of money which is controlled
by factors such as interest rates and reserve requirements for banks. These methods
are applicable in a market economy, but not in a communist or social economy.
Fiscal policy is often linked with Keynesianism (Michael Smith, Investpedia),
which is derived from British economist John Maynard Keynes. Theories of
Keynesianism have been used over time as they are popular and specifically
applied to assuage economic downturns. The principle behind fiscal policy is
influencing the level of aggregate demand in the economy to achieve economic
factors of stabilizing the price, full employment and economic growth. Fiscal Policy
is a government s decision regarding spending and taxing. If a government wants to
increase or restore growth in the economy, Spending rises. More items are purchased
in spite of sticky prices, because of this the firm increases output.
