Gender Inequality In The Healthcare Sector
Executive Summary
In the healthcare sector, gender equality is based on providing equal opportunities for men and women
in all areas or settings. Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women that are
socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are biologically
determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women health and
diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors. Many young
women and adolescents have found it difficult to access, utilize, or even make their own decisions in
context to reproductive health, specifically abortions, unsafe pregnancies, and pacing. Women and
men from low income, culturally background, and poor socio economic conditions are deprived of
basic healthcare facilities. In the past decade, gender inequality in the healthcare sector has been
associated with age, poverty, socioeconomic condition, and ethnic diversity of men and women.
Gender inequality is not only restricted to healthcare access and utilization but also affects men and
women who seek employment opportunities. In most cases, only men are dominant in working for
specific healthcare positions. Contribution from women healthcare workers or staff is lower compared
to the male workforce that is huge in many areas of the healthcare system. There is a lack of services
and products for women and men coming from culturally minority or low income groups.

The Political and Social Effects of the Sandinista...
The people of Nicaragua were suffering oppression. This made us develop an awareness which
eventually led us to commit ourselves to the struggle against the domination of the capitalists of our
country in collusion with the United States government. (Daniel Ortega 1974) As has been discussed
throughout the semester thus far many countries throughout Latin America have experienced a
political revolution in some way, shape, or form. In the early 1970 s Nicaragua joined the long list of
Latin American countries to experience a revolution when the Frente Sandinista de Liberacion
Nacional (FSLN) lead by Daniel Ortega successfully overthrew the Somoza dynasty. Many people
often times have a misconception of what exactly a political revolution ... Show more content on

Others argue that the changes seen within a society during the time of revolution are short lived and
often times forgotten within a matter of years. Despite these two differing arguments over the exact
meaning of the term revolution one thing remains constant. At the heart of any definition of revolution
the word change can be found. For example, Samuel Huntington defines revolution as rapid,
fundamental, and violent domestic change in the dominant values, myths, political institutions, social
structure, leadership, government activity, and politics. (Booth 117) On the other hand, Theda Skocpol
defines revolution as rapid, basic transformations of a society s state and class structure, accompanied
by and in part accomplished through popular revolts from below. (Booth 117) Finally, Eric Selbin
argues that revolution and its social transformation are more likely where popular rebellion has
cultural roots and precedents. (Booth 117) The Sandinista Revolution in the early 1970 s provides a
perfect example in regards to the transformation of society that each one of these definitions promises.
However, in order to determine which definition of the term revolution most accurately describes the
Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua two key questions must be analyzed. First, it must be determined
how strong and persistent are the

Power In The Count Of Monte Cristo
What is considered power? How important is power? It writes history and causes conflicts. Money,
wealth, success, and titles do not classify power, as opposed to common misconceptions. A true
display of power requires control, influence, respect, and ability. In Alexander Dumas The Count of
Monte Cristo, the main character, Edmond Dantes, is an excellent portrayal of these all aspects.
Napoleon, depicted in Russia 1812, written by Victor Hugo, is known throughout the world as a
dominant revolutionary war general and strikes as an image of respect. Aksenof, the unfortunate
character in Leo Tolstoy s The Long Exile, exhibits an ascension to control, despite his series of
disastrous events, when he becomes the dominator of his enemy. These characters from literature are
clear examples ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Long Exile, Aksenof spares Makar, the man who had framed him for murder, from being
flogged to death. This act of kindness guilt trips Makar into begging forgiveness for his acts. Ivan
Dmitritch, forgive me! When they flogged me with the knout, it was easier to bear than it is now to
look at you... And you had pity on me after all this... you did not tell on me... Forgive me for Christ s
sake! Forgive me, though I am a cursed villain! And the man began to sob (Tolstoy 811). Aksenof,
whose destiny had once been sentenced by Makar, now dominated Makar s life. Not through force and
revenge, but pity and forgiveness, Aksenof had successfully obtained control over his enemy. In The
Count of Monte Cristo, the count s final act of vengeance reveals his immense power and control.
Stand up, said the count. Your life will be spared. Your two accomplices weren t so lucky: one of them
is insane and the other is dead! (Dumas 434). Danglars is merely another string for the count to pull,
and his fate demonstrates the count s absolute power and dominion over his

The Automobile Industry Has Changed Throughout The Years
In 1769, the first human transport automobile was created and used the steam engine. The steam
engine evolved into the internal combustion engine that was powered by gas in 1806. Nearly eighty
years later, the petrol fueled internal combustion engine was created. In the 20th century, the use of
electricity for power was also briefly utilized. Beginning in 1769 until present day, the automobile
industry has went through exciting innovative changes and there is no telling what lies ahead.

automobile industry and have done so in a highly competitive way. The automobile industry is
categorized as an oligopoly. In this particular structured market, outside organizations have the
capability of entering the automobile industry, but in some cases there can be barriers of entry and
exit. According to Colander, D. (2010) Implicit collusion among U.S. automobile firms led to foreign
firms entry into the U.S. automobile market. Basically, a collective decision is made to reduce or
increase pricing in the industry without companies specifically meeting to do so. In the global market,
the automobile industry is competitive and creates opportunities to increase production along with
establishing operations in other countries throughout the world. The ability to sustain a level of profits
will be a challenge. With fluctuating market pricing, market share of the automobile industry can be
increased or reduced. In some cases, making a significant price reduction can eliminate a competitor
from the industry, which can result in long term profits. Merger Activity The automobile industry has
a long history of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and alliances. In 1904 Ford Motor Company
partnered with a Canadian carriage maker. Though not a vertical merger, the partnership increased
Ford s production efficiency. The most recent automobile

History II Mr. Daniel Bush Central Texas College January 4, 2010 The films Saving Private Ryan and
Apocalypse Now were both critically acclaimed films depicting the dramas of war. They both had
very realistic qualities and great cinematic values. The films had two great Hollywood directors in,

The famous Hollywood director, Steven Spielberg, through his 1998 blockbuster film Saving Private
Ryan, gave us a glimpse into the realities of war, in particular, World War II s D day invasion and the
immediate aftermath, as it played out in the European theater. The story opens with a prologue, in
which a veteran brings his family to the American cemetery at Normandy, and in a flashback he joins
Captain John Miller, played by Tom Hanks, and GIs in a landing craft making the June 6, 1944
approach to Omaha Beach to face devastating German artillery fire. This mass slaughter of American
soldiers is depicted in a compelling, unforgettable 24 minute sequence. Afterwards, he is then given a
new mission, to find and extract Private James Francis Ryan, played by Matt Damon, one of four
brothers, the other three of whom have been killed in action within days of each other. Because Private
Ryan was the last remaining son of a grieving mother, Washington D.C. has ordered his extraction and
his return home. Again in contrast to Apocalypse Now , whereas the taking of one man s life was the
goal, in Saving Private Ryan , the goal was the saving of one man s life. Even further, Captain Miller
and his men realize this is not a simple mission to save a

Jumping Mouse
Jumping Mouse The story of Jumping Mouse may seem simple at first. But it is far more than just a
story about a small rodent. There are so many underlying themes that reflect society, faith, generosity,
personal growth, and many other aspects of a person s daily life. The story starts out with a seemingly
simple mouse, who hears what others do not. He dares to question what is out of the ordinary, and
seeks out the truth instead of dismissing it as nothing. He shows curiosity, which leads him to new
ideas. When he has his experience at the river, he is given a new name, which signifies his own
personal growth. When he takes his newfound ideas back to the mouse society they don t believe him
because it is far too different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even later on his journey to find the mountains he discovered a small mouse utopia with an abundant
supply of food and shelter, everything a mouse could want. Yet he still wanted to keep searching for
the mountains he knew were still ahead. The mouse in this story is a very kind and generous mouse.
He comes across the path of a sick buffalo that needs one thing to make him complete: an eye of a
mouse. Now it doesn t take long for Jumping Mouse to decide what to do. He doesn t want the buffalo
to die so he gives up half of his gift of sight by letting the buffalo have an eye. In return for his gift of
life, the buffalo offered him protection from predators as Mouse continued on with his journey. After
he parts with the buffalo, Jumping Mouse meets with a gray wolf that for some reason cannot
remember the simplest of things. But being the kind mouse that he is, our hero wishes to help and
decides that by giving the wolf his remaining eye it would cure him of his problems. Now completely
giving up his gift of sight is a very difficult thing to ever want to do, but Jumping Mouse decides that
it is better to take care of others in need than him. The wolf s memory is restored and it can now
function again, thanks to the selfless generosity that the little mouse displayed. And in turn for Mouse
s good deed, the wolf offered to be his eyes and help him continue on his way. Jumping

African American Racial Relations
Academic researchers as well as media commentators frequently argue that race relations in the
United States have worsened considerably over the past decade. Many Americans would disagree or
have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is continuously
modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The term race relations
is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial formation. Instead it has a
palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and their members act toward
one another (Howard 2009:1852).
In a recent interview, when asked where we stand on the topic of race relations President Barack
Obama stated, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alone among the countries in the world, it has attempted to construct not just a state of different
tribes, but a nation of them white and black, Christian and Muslim, and many others, too. Its sense of
nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the people within
its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50% of Americans said
they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later Barack Obama became
the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years later was re elected, in 2012.
This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United States. For instance, a 2013
Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of black white marriage, but now
87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013). Sociologists traditionally view
multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of assimilation of a particular group into
society, which exemplifies racial progress in America ()
Affirmative action in the U.S is a set of laws or guidelines that are set in place to level the playing
field and give everyone an equal opportunity to pursue employment or an education. This law was
deemed necessary when it was made legal; however now there are those who disagree with the
policies of affirmative action. Hate groups frequently refer to affirmative action as racial preferences,
racial quotas, or anti White prejudice and describe the policy as creating unfair advantages to
minorities and/or creating disadvantages to Whites (Valeri, Robin, and Kevin Borgeson

Diego Rivera Historical Figures
My historical figure was Diego Rivera. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico in 1886. Although he
traveled to different places for his profession of painting and muralisting, his birth and death place was
in Mexico, his home country.
Diego s early life consisted of school, traveling, and drawing. He was inspired by the artist Jose
Posada. At the age of ten, Diego attended the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts in Mexico City. He
then traveled to Europe at the age of twenty one, where he was able to work with other artists.
He is known for painting art that reflects the lives of people and the environment. For example, he
would paint the lives of the working class and natives that lived in Mexico. While in Italy, Diego then
found a liking for painting murals which he brought back home to Mexico where the government
funded him to create a series of murals. These murals reflected the country s people and it s history. ...

He painted some more murals which caused disagreement. He was asked to paint for the Rockefellers,
but he made them look bad, and wouldn t stop painting the art for them when they asked him to, so

One interesting fact about my historical figure is that he was born with his twin brother who passed
away before the age of two. Another fact is that he loved drawing so much and started at such a young
age (the age of three), his dad built him his own studio so he wouldn t draw on anything in the

Patellar Lab Report Essay
Introduction There are two groups of reflexes in the human body, with two ways to categorize each of
them. Reflexes can either be inborn and connected through the nervous system, or they can be learned
through practice. Another way to explain a reflexive category would be autonomic reflexes or somatic
reflexes. Autonomic reflexes are those which are unaware to us and act on visceral organs of the body,
whereas somatic reflexes involve skeletal muscle stimulation. Both types of reflexes are put into effect
via the nervous system. (1)
The Patellar reflex, or Knee Jerk reflex, is used to test the nervous tissue in the spinal cord from L2

At the same time the subject s patellar tendon was sharply tapped.
The final element that was tested against the baseline reflex was the influence of fatigue on the
strength of the reflex response. This was achieved by having the subject run up and down three levels
of stairs three times in the Frost building stairwell of Holyoke Community College. The subject
immediately came back to the original sitting position on the edge of the lab bench with legs dangling
freely, and the patellar tendon was tapped once more.
One subject was used, and was seated in the same position for each of the three tests performed.
Because the patellar reflex is immediate, a video was taken during each tap with the hammer to
visually compare the strength differences for each influence that was put into effect. This provided a
steady, unwavering result with the option of repeated viewing for the conclusion of the experiment.
After all three stages of the experiment were completed, the videos were reviewed for comparison
between the baseline reflex and the three changing factors, along with any discrepancies and
problematic areas that may have altered the results. The strength of the reflex was recorded as either
equal to, more vigorous than, or less vigorous than the baseline reflex and the results were put into a
simple chart.

Why Teens Join Gangs
Many people wonder why teens would think of joining a gang. There are many different of teens who
join and they join for many different reasons; some of them include wanting power or having status,
looking for friendship or a family, peer pressure and wanting money and other materialistic items.
Some teenagers join gangs because of family involvement. In many situations family members
already in gangs often recruit other family members. If a teenagers family is not in a gang and they
still join they might be seeking a family. Young teens who grow up without family support would see
the gang more like their second family because of all the support and attention they are receiving that
they never had before. Some even get involved with gangs because they are not getting any attention
from parents. Joining a gang provides negative attention; even though it is the wrong kind of attention,
the teens still see it as attention and to some teens any kind of attention is better than none.
Teenagers would also join for respect. If a kid has low self esteem and don t feel good ... Show more

Many think they are going to become gang famous. Lots of youths join gangs to make fast money.
Young people who are not financially stable yet because of reasons such as struggling to find a job or
trying to help their parents would consider getting into a gang because it is fast and easy money that
can help support themselves and their family. Financially disadvantaged young people would also
rather look for a fast way to earn money. In the gang life they can participate in things like one drug
deal and make enough money to get materialistic items such as clothes and sneakers than actually
having a real job that would take a full months earnings. The appeal of obtaining money fast can be
overwhelming for children and gangs are involved in drugs and other criminal activities that give
children opportunities to get money

Monitoring and survellaince of employees

One of the key benefits of monitoring employee computer activity is maximising workplace
productivity. In today s society, most workers spend the majority of their time on their computers and
on the Internet. This issue has great prevalence in modern society, as a recent survey found that one
out of every eight American workers spend two or more hours per day writing and reading personal e
mails and using their work based Internet connection for non work related activities (Towns amp;

potential damage to a work culture, affecting trust, employee commitment and motivation.
Although there are many benefits from the monitoring and surveillance of staff in the workplace,
employees may not be as inclined towards the introduction of these techniques. Electronic monitoring
has the capacity to create an adversarial environment in the organization violating employee trust and
potentially producing unwanted effects and/or destructive countermeasures (Marx and Sherizen,
1998). From various sources of research electronic monitoring has produced mixed results to link its
use in the workplace to psychological illness, increased stress, feelings of powerlessness and
vulnerability, turnover propensity and decreased productivity (Marx and Sherizen, 1998). It can cause
damage to various parts of the organisation such as work culture, affecting trust in the workplace,
employee commitment and motivation. Work culture can be affected in how employees can feel like
they re being spied on, and as a result employees will not be as productive according to the
organisation. Trust in the workplace can become at stake when the monitoring of employees occurs.
When employees are doing the right things online electronic surveillance will have no impact, but

Benefits Of Minimum Wage
Minimum wage is a struggle for many Americans and I believe it needs to be raised. The minimum
wage of the United States is $7.25 an hour. It is a rate that isn t letting many Americans live life
comfortably. If the minimum wage was changed even a merely $3.75 it would change people s lives
and will let many people get by. The minimum wage of $7.25 has stayed the same since 2009 and
there hasn t been any effort by the government to change it. Many states have increased their
minimum wage, but I hope that the minimum wage rises nationwide and not individually as states.
One of the many groups of people that struggle on minimum wage are college students. Many people

Another reason why the minimum wage needs to be increased because of single parents or even
families in general. Many single parents or families rely on the minimum wage to live day by day.
Although some may say that living alone with a child doesn t cost much, but I disagree. Having a
child cost a lot of money. These parents often do not raise their children because they must dedicate
their life to working most of the hours of the week and must leave their children in a daycare or in the
home of a close family relative. In between buying necessities for the child and having to raise them,
they have to work long hours of the week because the minimum wage is too low to allow them to take
a break. This is something that effects millions of families in the United States. Gould, senior
economist at EPI tells NBC News, Even in Tennessee, a state with some of the most affordable cities
in the country, minimum wage workers cannot cover the cost of basic necessities such as housing,
food and other expenses. Families should also have the opportunity to thrive off the minimum wage.
Furthermore people cannot pay the bills and take care of themselves on minimum wage. Minimum
wage often cannot pay adult bills. Although in the past the minimum wage was way below what is it
today, consumer prices have increased a total of 482%. Even college tuition has gone up 994% in

The Bretton Woods System On The World s Natural Riches
Nature has always played an important role in human history. Increase in international trade,
globalization and creation of big corporations caused negative impact on the environment. The new
economic framework established after the end of the World War II benefited the interests of the
multinational corporations. The Bretton Woods system was aimed to boost the production and
consumption of commodities. The World Bank and the IMF, led by the US, financed corporations and
exploitation of resources. The Bretton Woods system was supposed to make use of the world s natural
riches. The fall of Communism in the world gave more power to the corporations and led to the
creation of the free market system. The US government tried to help underdeveloped nations to export
wood, livestock and other commodities to industrialized countries.
The establishment of new financial institutions helped the public works projects to rise. One of the
examples of these projects was the Tennessee River Valley in 1933. The government constructed 20
dams and coal fired power plants with a purpose to provide electricity to poor areas. Although the
project provided many benefits, it also created a quite few ecological concerns. Construction of dams
flooded to many areas. Mining of coal caused pollution and erosion. The same situation was evident
across the globe. Thailand has built 26 irrigation and hydroelectric projects since 1957. Most of them
were financed by the World Bank. The country started

What Steroids Can Do To Your Body

the ring don t know what will happen next. The roars of men are zipping through the air as bodies are
torn limb from limb. Grotesque as this image may be only a few hundred years ago were people
competing in stadiums adorned by thousands of viewers. Competition has always been a part of
human nature, ever since the first man put his foot onto this planet the race has been on. Certainly
competition has changed as years have gone by. First we competed for food on a daily basis,
competition was needed in order to just make it through the day, as many years began to pass
competition began to turn into daze in which people could watch others fight for their lives fighting
against creatures from other parts of the world unknown to their own. Today, we no longer face the
life or death bouts over a single meal. The sense of competition has not dulled, yet it has been moved
from a daily survival to more of an extravagance for viewers to behold the abilities of others in awe.
These days, the most anticipated competitions are held in football stadiums, boxing rings, and weight
rooms. The rewards for today s gladiators consist of bragging rights over a rival, worldwide notoriety,
and large sums of money. Being the best at what we do, getting the feeling that you are number one is

Female Relationships Between Female And Male Conversations
As the laugh they all laughed, and the joke they all told, and the secrets they all shared. Female and
Male friends are similar and distinctive in so many ways. But one thing they share among each other
is their friendship. Such Conversations, Activities and personalities are displayed differently between
male and females. It is evident that female and male conversations differ from each other. Females can
hold a conversation on the phone for hours and not run out of things to say, beginning from gossip, to
chattering about crushes, then on continuing to compliment each other for supportive reasons, later
comes down to being called the word Thick . Females sometimes don t realize how much we need us
women in each other s life. For instance, we require each other for support, love, and the basic
everyday drama which include going through menstrual cycles that men naturally can t comprehend.
On the other hand, males can barely last an hour when holding a conversation on the phone. Male
conversations are usually more of a straight forward approach, they say what they discuss what they
need to discuss and dismiss the conversation. Money, sex, drugs, and not to mention sports of all
things is usually the topic on a day to day basis as I ve grown up all my life in a male household.
Males tend not to get too emotional when they converse with other males, however when having

Some states have laws so strict that asking a nursing mother to stop, cover up, or move elsewhere is a
violation of her civil rights and gives her grounds to sue for damages in a court of law .
Babies who are not breastfed in places other than home will eventually become used to only being fed
in one place. Therefore the nourishing mother will basically become house bound. It is important for
women to get out of the house following birth, so they don t become depressed and feel cut off from
the rest of the world. According to The American Academy of Pediatrics The AAP recommends that
babies be exclusively breastfed for about the first 6 months of life. Babies should continue to
breastfeed for a year and for as long as is mutually desired by the mother and baby . During these first
6 months the mother should be dedicated to supplying breast milk whenever and wherever she and her

Bryan Stevenson Just Mercy Theme
Mercy can be given to anyone at anytime for any reason. Sometimes it is wrongfully given but most of
the time, mercy isn t given when it is most deserved. The book Just Mercy written by Bryan
Stevenson, talks about this injustice. One major theme that Stevenson talks about is that we all
deserves mercy for some of the things we do. Murdering someone on accident doesn t make that
person a serial killer. Mercy is deserved in that situation, they should be punished in some way, but
that person shouldn t be treated like a mass murderer who should be sentenced to life in prison.
Another theme that the author wants to get across is judging a book by its cover. In the book Walter
McMillian was a victim of this harsh reality. Just because he was ... Show more content on

Instead of judging each person on their own character and actions, they where all look upon in the
same way, as criminals. These two themes are connected. They make our society a horrible place to
live in. If we lived in a perfect world no one would be judge based on their race or ethnicity, but only
on their character. Sadly, we do not live in that world and there always has to be someone to blame. In
the book the people who were always blamed where African Americans and they rarely received
mercy. In this type of society, families have to live without their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters
because mercy was not given to those who deserved it. I was not aware of the amount of injustice that
goes on within the system. There are so many people who are wrongfully accused or they received a
punishment way beyond what was necessary. It is wrong in so many ways! Family s and loved ones
suffer too. Social Status has never been a big deal to me. I like to try to think of everyone as equals
which is part of the reason why this book infuriates me so much because I know what is happening is
wrong and there is nothing I can do right now to fix

Gender Bias In Sports Essay
Highly accomplished female athletes are often infantilized by sport commentators by referring to them
as girls or
young ladies whereas skilled male athletes are rarely (if ever) referred to as boys (Messner et al.,
1993; Wensing Bruce,
2003). A recent headline in the UK s Daily Mail regarding the Sochi Olympics read, Curl power: Girls
sweep their way to bronze as Britain equals its best ever Winter Olympics tally (Daily Mail Reporter,
2014). Not surprisingly, the male curlers were not referred to as boys when they won a silver medal
the next day.
Commentators further infantilize female athletes by calling them by their first name only whereas this
rarely occurs with male athletes. Messner et al. (1993) found that women s ... Show more content on

For example, Billings (2007) examined the media commentary for men s and women s diving,
gymnastics, swimming, and track and field competitions during the 2004 Summer Olympics and
discovered that gender biased commentary occurred more often in the sports considered artistic (e.g.,
gymnastics, diving) with the greatest gender bias between men and women s gymnastics. Similarly,
Angilini, Billings, and MacAuthor (2013) found the greatest amount of gender biased commentary in
figure skating in their examination of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Typically, the negative framing described in the previous paragraphs occurs alongside positive
narratives. Duncan and

present such mixed messages. As Eagleman (2013) described, it is coverage that appears positive at

to simultaneously acknowledge the changing norms regarding women s involvement in sport and yet

Cyber Security And Risk Analysis
As a student pursuing a major in Security and Risk Analysis, also known as Cyber Security, it has
been repeatedly drilled into my head how much potential the Internet has to change the ways in which
people experience the external world in which we live, for better or for worse. The Internet, consisting
of a gargantuan amount of data, is composed of more than 150 million websites, such as Facebook,
LinkedIn, blogs, or other virtual worlds such as Second Life. Such websites, made possible by the
Internet, act as a medium between two worlds: 1) an external world experienced by embodied
conscious beings and 2) a virtual world experienced by disembodied, yet still conscious, beings. The
ways in which individuals experience various phenomena pertaining to such a contrasting dichotomy
between external and virtual worlds, characterized by disembodiment, can be difficult to comprehend
given that humans tend to rely so heavily on immediate sense data provided by their physical bodies.
Fortunately, phenomenology (as Shaun Gallagher and Dan Zahavi have presented it) can help us to
understand such experiential differences. Phenomenologist Hubert Dreyfus begins to analyze these
differences in experienced phenomena between embodiment and disembodiment and its social
implications through his work On the Internet. Dreyfus claim that disembodied telepresence,
characterized by disembodiment through technological mediums, as detrimental to society may
initially be perceived as plausible due to

My Field Placement Will Be At Child Protective Services Essay
Introduction
My field placement will be at Child protective services in El Paso TX. The department of child
Protective Services withholds a wide range of services and responsibilities that include, investigating
reports of abuse and neglect of children, provide services to children and families in their homes,
providing services to help youth in foster care successfully transition to adulthood and helping
children find adoption. There are many subdivisions within the department itself which offers different
amenities during an open case with CPS, although these services solely justify the department, there is
a unit known as Family Based Services or also FBSS which focuses on resources that will strengthen
the family s privation in order to ensure child safety and wellbeing. The Department predominantly
benefits from task groups rather than treatment groups, because the department is on deadlines with
each individual case, a treatment group would not benefit for the departments ultimate value which is
Family Reunification. If the department is involved with a family for too long this may cause
emotional distress on the children as well as the family. Every year in the United States, more than one
out of every hundred children are victims of substantiated child abuse and neglect. For instance, in
2006, 3.6 million cases of child maltreatment were investigated, which is a rate of 47.8 per 1,000

GDP, on top of having several different components, has a few different ways in which it
measures output. Two different measurements that are widely used are Nominal GDP and Real
GDP. The main difference between nominal GDP and real GDP is that nominal GDP doesn t
adjust for inflation and real GDP does. 2 While real GDP is adjusted for differences in price
levels, nominal GDP when calculated is not and, as a result, will often appear higher and can be
misleading. With measurements that require adjustments, one will always encounter
discrepancies. Gross domestic input or GDI measures the sum of all income earned while
producing goods and services within a nation s borders. 3 The difference between GDI and GDP
is that GDI calculates economic activity based on income, and GDP calculates economic activity
based on spending. While they are similar, the two measurements use different methods to gauge
the economy and thus, the data collected by GDP and GDI will almost never be the same.

passes through the market, it is good for growth. In the film Dr. Waring discusses the major

Billings feels that he has no reason to consult a priest or a lawyer because he is not a catholic and he
does not believe that he has done anything wrong. At the same time we see throughout the whole story
that words like Jesus , Christ and god often are used in his speech. This obvious contradiction shows
us that Billing has an unstable personality. He is very self centered and arrogant in way of behaving
towards other people. He feels superior to women and talks openly and calmly about being a wife

Macbeth Movie Vs Play Essay
The goal of the movie, Great Performances: Macbeth, is not to change the original play to mean
something different, but to enhance it. The original play was already successful in conveying to the
readers or viewers the effects of guilt and evil, but the movie made it even more intense because of the
level of intimacy between the screen and the audience. The director did make some changes to the
original play, such as the setting, but those changes did not alter the moral of the story in any way.
Despite some differences between the original work and Great Performances: Macbeth, the movie
helps to convey Shakespeare s original plot, characters, and themes in a deeper sense.

The motifs cause the reader to feel certain emotions toward specific actions including the deaths
described in the play. For example, when King Duncan is killed the reader of the play is shocked but
does not blame Macbeth for going through with the murder because the prophecy given by the witches
had to come true eventually. The movie portrays this accurately because the viewer is able to tell
through his facial expressions and staccato speech that Macbeth feels strong guilt for going through
with the murder. The prophecies told by the three witches are able to control Macbeth s actions and his
future because they are all fulfilled in both the original play and contemporary movie. Another theme
presented in the play that is included in the movie is the pity for the characters suffering from
hallucinations. The film strongly focuses on this theme because it is able to let the audience see what
the guilty character is seeing and reality at the same time. In the dinner party scene, Macbeth sees

Overcoming Obstacles Of Determination
Victory is like gaining trust; hard to earn, but you also have to put some effort in. Victory is not also

Natural Disasters Caused By Earthquakes
Natural disaster such as earthquakes can often come and go in unexpected time. Earthquakes can be
dangerous depends on how hard the magnitude of the earthquake hits. The problem is earthquakes can

themselves from it. For example, human can move to other places, countries that have a lower chance

. Rowing has always been a type of personal thermostat and stress reliever for me, I did it almost
selfishly. That is why, when the team held captain elections halfway through my first semester, I did
not vote for myself, I was not on the team because I aspired to be a captain. And further more, when I
received over 75% of the votes, I was shocked. I was one of the newest members of the team and I
was not a vocal team member by any measure. Still, I accepted and we had a great year with a 6th

When choosing a captain the team wanted someone they could emulate and who s is motives they
never had to question. I was a hard worker, and though I did not request it, my team started to align

The Holocaust and The Final Solution

Germany only, though not long after it had spread along all Europe. Hitler instructed the Nazis in
Germany in 1933 to eliminate all Jews in Europe any way they could and to destroy their homes,
families and communities. The killing during the Holocaust didn t only involve Jews, homosexuals,

these people were killed because Hitler considered them undesirable and he believed that they didn t
deserve to be in Germany or have any rights. These people were either killed in gas chambers at

everyone. The following paragraph will discuss Hitler s racial beliefs towards Jews.

conduct that was spurning in his time period. Dante s inspiration for this epic stemmed from being
exiled from Florence. As he was exiled, he commented on the corruptness in Italy, which produced
Dante s allegory Inferno. Using a biographical lens, we can see the the influence of his life in this
work. In Dante s Inferno, Dante s background plays a prominent role in how he illustrates politics in
Hell. He incorporates the history of the Church during the 1300s.The poet illustrates the venal
behaviors of both religious figures, and the Catholic Church in its entirety. Dante s resentment towards
the church is primarily due to the corruption that the church displayed during his time period, his heart

Pros And Cons Of American Flag Burning
The American Flag
The American Flag is symbol of freedom to those individuals living in the United States. To the
soldiers who fight for our freedom, seeing the flag they honor and salute disgraced and disrespected is
like a slap in the face . Topics discussed throughout this paper are as follows The Star Spangled
Banner, American traditions involving the flag, how to fold the flag and what each fold symbolizes,
how to properly handle and when/when not to fly the flag as well as, flag burning, a few major case
laws about the flag, pending Supreme Court cases regarding the American flag, the reasons for the
decisions made, how things have changed over time and some arguments for/against, pros/cons will
be discussed so that we all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1969, the Supreme Court of the United States (U.S. Supreme Court) put forth rules allowing the
burning of the flag to be protected under the First Amendment. The U. S. Supreme Court first ruled on
flag discretion in 1907 in the Halter v. Nebraska case. Prior to this ruling flag discretion statues strictly
prohibited the burning of the American flag , as well as, disrespecting the flag in any way shape or
form. In 1968, Congress reacted to the burning of the American flag in New York during a protest
against the Vietnam War by passing the Federal Flag Desecration Law. In a few court cases it has been
declared that burning the American flag is only illegal if the flag has been stolen. When a flag is
worn/torn the proper way of disposing of the flag is to burn it; however, when disposing of a flag by
burning it there are steps that should be followed in order to do so honorably. The flag should be
folded in its customary manner and then placed on a fire that is fairly large with sufficient intensity to
ensure complete burning of the flag. After placing the flag on the fire all individuals should come to
attention, salute the flag while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and observing a brief moment of
silence. Once the flag has been completely consumed the fire should be safely extinguished and the
ashes should be buried. Congress has made seven attempts to overrule the Supreme Court decision
regarding the burning of the American flag by passing a constitutional amendment that had an
exception to the First Amendment and allowed the government to ban flag desecration.

Rebirth In The Bean Trees
All around the world people are moving to find a better life, over 3.3% of the world s population are
international migrants. People are always going through a rebirth from when they get a job to
becoming a family or when they move. Rebirth is not always a big change, but it always changes life
some way or the other. The characters in The Bean Trees lives are constantly changing during the
whole book. Throughout The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, there is a common theme of rebirth
that the characters Taylor, Turtle, Estevan and Esperanza all experience.
Taylor shows rebirth in many ways, but the start of it all was moving out of Kentucky. Taylor never
really liked living in Pittman County so she promised herself that she would drive west until her car
stopped running. Although Taylor s car didn t stop, she made up her mind to live in Tucson, Arizona.
Moving to Tucson gives Taylor fresh start with job opportunities and providing for the baby girl that
she got in the Cherokee Nation. Getting this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When they lived in Guatemala, there was a raid on their village. During the raid, their daughter
Ismene was taken as well as, Estevan s brother and two friends were killed. Both of them were
devastated by the losses so they ran away and started over in America. For safety reasons, Estevan and
Esperanza were going to move farther away from the border. Taylor told them that she would drive
them because she needs to go there to find Turtles relatives. Taylor was risking her life to for them to
start a better one of their own. Estevan and Esperanza said they would help Taylor adopt Turtle as her
legal daughter. During the adoption process Esperanza help turtle and cried because it was the last
time she would see her. This gave her the closure that she never really got with Ismene so now she can
move. Moving to different places was a big part of Estevan and Esperanza s

For centuries, women have been treated with inequality and denied basic rights that men are given.
However, when World War 11 began on September 10, 1939, things began to change. Canada was still
struggling with the remnants of the Great Depression, and out of 11 million people, 900,000 were
unemployed. 20% of that number were women. There were only 600,000 working ladies, but they
made up the small portion of 17% of the labour force. As the men left for war, the females took over
most of the jobs in the factories. Many even said they did a better job than the men did. Over time,
they began to work a variety of jobs that they were not able to before, but it wasn t enough. Even
though by 1944, the end of the war, the number of women working ... Show more content on

Some examples of domestic matters include cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children. Men
were to be given a more privileged position [4] in the work force, since society deemed them the
primary breadwinner. If women had to go to work, they would be given a gender segregated jobs
because the division of labour was in a sex hierarchy, with men being at the top. Different class and
ethnic groups were also placed into the hierarchy. Not all women living in Canada could be employed,
as there were certain circumstances you had to meet before you would be allowed to join. This point
will be returned to later after taking into consideration the females working in the Army itself. In
addition to women s unpaid and voluntary work towards the war effort and some paid labour in the
war industry, for the first time in history, during the Second World War women were also mobilized in
the thousands for service in the armed forces of Canada. [5] Usually the military (and any work
concerning it) has solely been a man s job. The only occurrence you would see a women associated
with the military before the war was if they were a nurse in the Nursing Service of the Royal Canadian
Army Corps. The first branch of the army to allow women to enlist was the Air Force. Seeing as so
many women joined, the Canadian Women s Auxiliary Air Force (CWAAF) was formed in the
summer of 1941. Approximately a year

My Job At The Club
Rained Out I ve settled into my job at the club pretty quickly. The manager and I have decided that I
will wear a bikini top with either pants or skirts while I work. We talked about having me work
topless, but since the front door opens and people outside could see me, we ruled against it. At this
point, I have been here several weeks. I have become friends with most of the girls, but especially
with Angel. I also get along well with Rochelle, Candy, and Sky. Not their real names, of course.
There is a group of other dancers that seem to hang out together and keep to themselves. They say hi
to me when they walk in, but that s about the extent of our relationships. It can get a little bitchy in
here with the majority of employees being women. I tend to be viewed as a neutral party since I m not
a direct threat to the other dancers. Inside the club, the competition tends to be a little fierce, and
sometimes it s so catty I m happy I sit on the outside. On this particular Tuesday, I get to work a
couple minutes early. I look at the schedule and see that Angel, Sky, Roxy, Misty, and Sabrina are
scheduled to work the afternoon shift, which starts at 4:00. I page back to the dressing room to find
out which dancers have arrived. Angel answers the call and tells me that so far only her and Sky are
back there. I m supposed to know which dancers are working in case customers call and ask. I ve even
had a guy leave before because the girl he wanted to see wasn t working.

Side Effects of Plastic Surgery
Side Effects of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery, like most of medicine, was a work in progress for centuries. Now people are paying
top dollar to modify their body, everything from their face to their stomach to even their buttocks. The
question one must consider before making a decision to change physically is, are the side effects
worth it? Under going plastic surgery can open doors for bacterial or viral infections, allergic reactions
from medications to result in unwanted scars, irreversible nerve damage, internal bleeding, and death
of the skin due to hematomas, and necrosis. So many people all around the world are turning to plastic
surgery to reconstruct or alter their bodies without knowing the harmful, sometimes deadly side ...

Bunton (2009) stated that, scarring is another unwanted risk of having plastic surgery. Sometimes
incisions do not heal properly, and the skin develops a thick edge and granular tissue. This is one of
the main reasons; plastic surgeons try to make incisions in places where any scars that develop will be
less noticeable as it heals. In some cases, scarring is mild, and will become more unnoticeable as time
goes by, while in more than a few cases, scarring is very noticeable, and permanent.
Other unsatisfactory results that can come with scarring are blood clots called hematomas, skin
necrosis and toxic shock syndrome. Our body s natural instinct is to heal and protect. Sometimes the
protection of our natural defenses can cause us harm if not taken care of as soon as possible.
Hematomas, which is one of our many defenses, is a collection of blood outside the blood vessels,
generally caused by internal bleeding. In most cases the body creates sacs of blood (blood clots) to
keep internal bleeding to a minimum. Blood clots usually disappear with no certain time frame but
could also continue to grow and would need to be surgically removed before they erupt. If a
hematoma happens to form on a joint, it could reduce mobility, and present the same symptoms as a
fracture.
If the top layer of the patient s skin does

  • 2. Gender Inequality In The Healthcare Sector Executive Summary In the healthcare sector, gender equality is based on providing equal opportunities for men and women in all areas or settings. Gender can be defined as those characteristics of men and women that are socially constricted and determined while sex is associated with characteristics that are biologically determined. There is a lack of demand and support for advanced research on women health and diseases, specifically decision makers, support staff, or even researchers and authors. Many young women and adolescents have found it difficult to access, utilize, or even make their own decisions in context to reproductive health, specifically abortions, unsafe pregnancies, and pacing. Women and men from low income, culturally background, and poor socio economic conditions are deprived of basic healthcare facilities. In the past decade, gender inequality in the healthcare sector has been associated with age, poverty, socioeconomic condition, and ethnic diversity of men and women. Gender inequality is not only restricted to healthcare access and utilization but also affects men and women who seek employment opportunities. In most cases, only men are dominant in working for specific healthcare positions. Contribution from women healthcare workers or staff is lower compared to the male workforce that is huge in many areas of the healthcare system. There is a lack of services and products for women and men coming from culturally minority or low income groups. Gender ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Political and Social Effects of the Sandinista... The people of Nicaragua were suffering oppression. This made us develop an awareness which eventually led us to commit ourselves to the struggle against the domination of the capitalists of our country in collusion with the United States government. (Daniel Ortega 1974) As has been discussed throughout the semester thus far many countries throughout Latin America have experienced a political revolution in some way, shape, or form. In the early 1970 s Nicaragua joined the long list of Latin American countries to experience a revolution when the Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional (FSLN) lead by Daniel Ortega successfully overthrew the Somoza dynasty. Many people often times have a misconception of what exactly a political revolution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others argue that the changes seen within a society during the time of revolution are short lived and often times forgotten within a matter of years. Despite these two differing arguments over the exact meaning of the term revolution one thing remains constant. At the heart of any definition of revolution the word change can be found. For example, Samuel Huntington defines revolution as rapid, fundamental, and violent domestic change in the dominant values, myths, political institutions, social structure, leadership, government activity, and politics. (Booth 117) On the other hand, Theda Skocpol defines revolution as rapid, basic transformations of a society s state and class structure, accompanied by and in part accomplished through popular revolts from below. (Booth 117) Finally, Eric Selbin argues that revolution and its social transformation are more likely where popular rebellion has cultural roots and precedents. (Booth 117) The Sandinista Revolution in the early 1970 s provides a perfect example in regards to the transformation of society that each one of these definitions promises. However, in order to determine which definition of the term revolution most accurately describes the Sandinista Revolution in Nicaragua two key questions must be analyzed. First, it must be determined how strong and persistent are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Power In The Count Of Monte Cristo What is considered power? How important is power? It writes history and causes conflicts. Money, wealth, success, and titles do not classify power, as opposed to common misconceptions. A true display of power requires control, influence, respect, and ability. In Alexander Dumas The Count of Monte Cristo, the main character, Edmond Dantes, is an excellent portrayal of these all aspects. Napoleon, depicted in Russia 1812, written by Victor Hugo, is known throughout the world as a dominant revolutionary war general and strikes as an image of respect. Forgive me for Christ s sake! Forgive me, though I am a cursed villain! And the man began to sob (Tolstoy 811). Aksenof, whose destiny had once been sentenced by Makar, now dominated Makar s life. Not through force and revenge, but pity and forgiveness, Aksenof had successfully obtained control over his enemy. In The Count of Monte Cristo, the count s final act of vengeance reveals his immense power and control. Stand up, said the count. Your life will be spared. Your two accomplices weren t so lucky: one of them is insane and the other is dead! (Dumas 434). Many Americans would disagree or have different views on the previous statement being true. As the years go by, society is continuously modified and changed through innovation, discovery, and cultural awareness. The term race relations is peculiar. It is not about racial conflict, racial domination, racism, or racial formation. Instead it has a palliative orientation: improving the way in which two or more races and their members act toward one another (Howard 2009:1852). Its sense of nationalism has evolved unevenly; slowly incorporating an ever growing chunk of the people within its borders, and it has made steady progress (Vance 2016). Back in 1960, over 50% of Americans said they would never vote for a black president. Ironically, forty eight years later Barack Obama became the first African American to be elected president in 2008 and four years later was re elected, in 2012. This is just one of many examples of racial progression in the United States. For instance, a 2013 Gallup poll found that, in 1958, only 4% of Americans approved of black white marriage, but now 87% of Americans approve of multiracial marriage (Newport 2013). Sociologists traditionally view multiracial marriage as a benchmark for the ultimate stage of assimilation of a particular group into society, which exemplifies racial progress in America () Affirmative action in the U.S is a set of laws or guidelines that are set in place to level the playing field and give everyone an equal opportunity to pursue employment or an education. Reflexes can either be inborn and connected through the nervous system, or they can be learned through practice. Autonomic reflexes are those which are unaware to us and act on visceral organs of the body, whereas somatic reflexes involve skeletal muscle stimulation. Both types of reflexes are put into effect via the nervous system. (1) The Patellar reflex, or Knee Jerk reflex, is used to test the nervous tissue in the spinal cord from L2 L4. The subject immediately came back to the original sitting position on the edge of the lab bench with legs dangling freely, and the patellar tendon was tapped once more. This provided a steady, unwavering result with the option of repeated viewing for the conclusion of the experiment. After all three stages of the experiment were completed, the videos were reviewed for comparison between the baseline reflex and the three changing factors, along with any discrepancies and problematic areas that may have altered the results. Having a child cost a lot of money. These parents often do not raise their children because they must dedicate their life to working most of the hours of the week and must leave their children in a daycare or in the home of a close family relative. In between buying necessities for the child and having to raise them, they have to work long hours of the week because the minimum wage is too low to allow them to take a break. Increase in international trade, globalization and creation of big corporations caused negative impact on the environment. The new economic framework established after the end of the World War II benefited the interests of the multinational corporations. The Bretton Woods system was aimed to boost the production and consumption of commodities. The World Bank and the IMF, led by the US, financed corporations and exploitation of resources. The Bretton Woods system was supposed to make use of the world s natural riches. The fall of Communism in the world gave more power to the corporations and led to the creation of the free market system. The US government tried to help underdeveloped nations to export wood, livestock and other commodities to industrialized countries. The establishment of new financial institutions helped the public works projects to rise. One of the examples of these projects was the Tennessee River Valley in 1933. The government constructed 20 dams and coal fired power plants with a purpose to provide electricity to poor areas. Although the project provided many benefits, it also created a quite few ecological concerns. Construction of dams flooded to many areas. Mining of coal caused pollution and erosion. The Milk Truck is there to create a mobile breastfeeding unit that allows mothers to feed their babies in places where they have been discouraged restaurants, shopping malls, public spaces, etc. Babies should be able to eat anywhere, and everywhere . Some states have laws so strict that asking a nursing mother to stop, cover up, or move elsewhere is a violation of her civil rights and gives her grounds to sue for damages in a court of law . Babies who are not breastfed in places other than home will eventually become used to only being fed in one place. Therefore the nourishing mother will basically become house bound. It is important for women to get out of the house following birth, so they don t become depressed and feel cut off from the rest of the world. According to The American Academy of Pediatrics The AAP recommends that babies be exclusively breastfed for about the first 6 months of life. Babies should continue to breastfeed for a year and for as long as is mutually desired by the mother and baby . During these first 6 months the mother should be dedicated to supplying breast milk whenever and wherever she and her infant feel appropriate. Why should a mother be segregated from her everyday life during her nursing period just to make others feel comfortable ? For the most part women cover themselves with a shawl, a wrap, or a cover of some sort while breastfeeding. If not they make sure that they are not exposed in any way. The book Just Mercy written by Bryan Stevenson, talks about this injustice. One major theme that Stevenson talks about is that we all deserves mercy for some of the things we do. Murdering someone on accident doesn t make that person a serial killer. Mercy is deserved in that situation, they should be punished in some way, but that person shouldn t be treated like a mass murderer who should be sentenced to life in prison. A recent headline in the UK s Daily Mail regarding the Sochi Olympics read, Curl power: Girls sweep their way to bronze as Britain equals its best ever Winter Olympics tally (Daily Mail Reporter, 2014). Cyber Security And Risk Analysis As a student pursuing a major in Security and Risk Analysis, also known as Cyber Security, it has been repeatedly drilled into my head how much potential the Internet has to change the ways in which people experience the external world in which we live, for better or for worse. The Internet, consisting of a gargantuan amount of data, is composed of more than 150 million websites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, or other virtual worlds such as Second Life. Such websites, made possible by the Internet, act as a medium between two worlds: 1) an external world experienced by embodied conscious beings and 2) a virtual world experienced by disembodied, yet still conscious, beings. The ways in which individuals experience various phenomena pertaining to such a contrasting dichotomy between external and virtual worlds, characterized by disembodiment, can be difficult to comprehend given that humans tend to rely so heavily on immediate sense data provided by their physical bodies. Fortunately, phenomenology (as Shaun Gallagher and Dan Zahavi have presented it) can help us to understand such experiential differences. Phenomenologist Hubert Dreyfus begins to analyze these differences in experienced phenomena between embodiment and disembodiment and its social implications through his work On the Internet. In 1969, the Supreme Court of the United States (U.S. Supreme Court) put forth rules allowing the burning of the flag to be protected under the First Amendment. The U. S. Supreme Court first ruled on flag discretion in 1907 in the Halter v. Nebraska case. Prior to this ruling flag discretion statues strictly prohibited the burning of the American flag , as well as, disrespecting the flag in any way shape or form. In 1968, Congress reacted to the burning of the American flag in New York during a protest against the Vietnam War by passing the Federal Flag Desecration Law. In a few court cases it has been declared that burning the American flag is only illegal if the flag has been stolen. When a flag is worn/torn the proper way of disposing of the flag is to burn it; however, when disposing of a flag by burning it there are steps that should be followed in order to do so honorably. The flag should be folded in its customary manner and then placed on a fire that is fairly large with sufficient intensity to ensure complete burning of the flag. After placing the flag on the fire all individuals should come to attention, salute the flag while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and observing a brief moment of silence. Once the flag has been completely consumed the fire should be safely extinguished and the ashes should be buried. Congress has made seven attempts to overrule the Supreme Court decision regarding the burning of the American flag by passing a constitutional amendment that had an exception to the First Amendment and allowed the government to ban flag desecration. • 43. For centuries, women have been treated with inequality and... For centuries, women have been treated with inequality and denied basic rights that men are given. However, when World War 11 began on September 10, 1939, things began to change. Canada was still struggling with the remnants of the Great Depression, and out of 11 million people, 900,000 were unemployed. 20% of that number were women. There were only 600,000 working ladies, but they made up the small portion of 17% of the labour force. As the men left for war, the females took over most of the jobs in the factories. Many even said they did a better job than the men did. Over time, they began to work a variety of jobs that they were not able to before, but it wasn t enough. Even though by 1944, the end of the war, the number of women working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some examples of domestic matters include cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children. Men were to be given a more privileged position [4] in the work force, since society deemed them the primary breadwinner. If women had to go to work, they would be given a gender segregated jobs because the division of labour was in a sex hierarchy, with men being at the top. Different class and ethnic groups were also placed into the hierarchy. Not all women living in Canada could be employed, as there were certain circumstances you had to meet before you would be allowed to join. This point will be returned to later after taking into consideration the females working in the Army itself. In addition to women s unpaid and voluntary work towards the war effort and some paid labour in the war industry, for the first time in history, during the Second World War women were also mobilized in the thousands for service in the armed forces of Canada. [5] Usually the military (and any work concerning it) has solely been a man s job. The only occurrence you would see a women associated with the military before the war was if they were a nurse in the Nursing Service of the Royal Canadian Army Corps. The first branch of the army to allow women to enlist was the Air Force. Seeing as so many women joined, the Canadian Women s Auxiliary Air Force (CWAAF) was formed in the summer of 1941. • 44. My Job At The Club Rained Out I ve settled into my job at the club pretty quickly. The manager and I have decided that I will wear a bikini top with either pants or skirts while I work. We talked about having me work topless, but since the front door opens and people outside could see me, we ruled against it. At this point, I have been here several weeks. I have become friends with most of the girls, but especially with Angel. I also get along well with Rochelle, Candy, and Sky. Not their real names, of course. There is a group of other dancers that seem to hang out together and keep to themselves. They say hi to me when they walk in, but that s about the extent of our relationships. It can get a little bitchy in here with the majority of employees being women. I tend to be viewed as a neutral party since I m not a direct threat to the other dancers. Inside the club, the competition tends to be a little fierce, and sometimes it s so catty I m happy I sit on the outside. On this particular Tuesday, I get to work a couple minutes early. I look at the schedule and see that Angel, Sky, Roxy, Misty, and Sabrina are scheduled to work the afternoon shift, which starts at 4:00. I page back to the dressing room to find out which dancers have arrived. Angel answers the call and tells me that so far only her and Sky are back there. I m supposed to know which dancers are working in case customers call and ask. I ve even had a guy leave before because the girl he wanted to see wasn t working. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question one must consider before making a decision to change physically is, are the side effects worth it? Under going plastic surgery can open doors for bacterial or viral infections, allergic reactions from medications to result in unwanted scars, irreversible nerve damage, internal bleeding, and death of the skin due to hematomas, and necrosis. So many people all around the world are turning to plastic surgery to reconstruct or alter their bodies without knowing the harmful, sometimes deadly side ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bunton (2009) stated that, scarring is another unwanted risk of having plastic surgery. Sometimes incisions do not heal properly, and the skin develops a thick edge and granular tissue. This is one of the main reasons; plastic surgeons try to make incisions in places where any scars that develop will be less noticeable as it heals. In some cases, scarring is mild, and will become more unnoticeable as time goes by, while in more than a few cases, scarring is very noticeable, and permanent. Other unsatisfactory results that can come with scarring are blood clots called hematomas, skin necrosis and toxic shock syndrome. Our body s natural instinct is to heal and protect. Sometimes the protection of our natural defenses can cause us harm if not taken care of as soon as possible. Hematomas, which is one of our many defenses, is a collection of blood outside the blood vessels, generally caused by internal bleeding. In most cases the body creates sacs of blood (blood clots) to keep internal bleeding to a minimum. Blood clots usually disappear with no certain time frame but could also continue to grow and would need to be surgically removed before they erupt. If a hematoma happens to form on a joint, it could reduce mobility, and present the same symptoms as a fracture. If the top layer of the patient s skin does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
