Environmental Studies Essay
Crafting an essay on the broad subject of environmental studies is no simple task. The
complexity arises from the vast scope of the topic, encompassing a myriad of interconnected
issues ranging from climate change and biodiversity loss to pollution and sustainable
development. The sheer volume of information available on these subjects can be overwhelming,
making it challenging to sift through the data and identify the most relevant and impactful points
to include in your essay.
Moreover, the field of environmental studies is dynamic, with ongoing developments and new
research emerging regularly. Staying updated on the latest findings and incorporating them into
your essay adds an additional layer of complexity. Ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the
information you present is crucial, considering the increasing importance of environmental issues
in contemporary society.
Beyond the research aspect, constructing a cohesive and persuasive argument requires a deep
understanding of the interconnections between various environmental factors. Balancing the
scientific, social, and economic dimensions of environmental problems demands a nuanced
approach, which can be intellectually demanding for the writer.
Furthermore, addressing potential solutions and advocating for positive change adds another
layer of difficulty. Crafting a well-reasoned and actionable conclusion that encourages readers to
reflect on their own behaviors and promotes environmental stewardship requires careful
consideration of language and tone.
In essence, writing an essay on environmental studies involves navigating through a complex
web of information, staying abreast of the latest developments, and presenting a compelling
argument for positive change. It is a task that demands both dedication and a comprehensive
understanding of the multifaceted issues at hand.

US Influence On Somalia
Somalia is a country that has become synonymous with war. The international
community continues to spend billions yearly in the fight to stabilize the country
even with the persistence of criminal activity and transnational threat groups. The
fall of the Somalian Government in 1991 set the conditions for terrorists, pirates,
and criminal gangs to use Somalia as a base of operations. (Reed, Thompson, Kfir,
2015) The increase donor spending is accredited to the recent success of the African
Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and the Somali Armed Forces (SAF) against
Al Shabaab. Al Shabaab, an Al Qaida (AQ) affiliated, militant Islamic organization
will remain the largest threat to the stability of Somalia. Starting as a national

It is assessed that destabilization in Somalia has the potential to flow over into the
strategically important horn of Africa and eventually draw in the United States and
Europe for years. In October 2013, the US deployed military trainers and advisors
to Somalia, marking the first time that US Soldiers had boots on the ground since
Black Hawk Down in 1991. Before deploying trainers and advisors to Somalia, the
US military presence had been limited to Special Operations raids and limited Ariel
surveillance. (Reed, Thompson, Kfir, 2015) The US presence in Somalia directly

Society s View of Women in Media and Sports
To begrudge folks of their opinion of these women is useless. Beauty is entirely
subjective, a matter truly in the eye of the beholder, (Source 1). The media is
infamous for how it views individuals. Television shows such as TMZ and Extra
exist for the sole purpose of not only stalking, but also ridiculing celebrities
regardless of whether or not they planned to be in the limelight. If Jennifer
Lawrence appears gorgeous in her red carpet gown, she is praised; if she is caught
with a slice of pizza in her mouth she is viewed by the same people as a slob. The
media treats its precious celebrities like dogs, rewarding them or scolding them for
their behaviors. This attitude is not reserved for celebrities, as it also affects the
common, non famous people men and women both and emerged in the Roaring 20s.
Before the cultural transformation of that era, women fit the image of the so called
Gibson Girl. The Gibson Girl was extremely feminine and beautiful with long,
flowing, thick hair, modest yet elegant outfits, and wide birthing hips. When
companies started to yearn for more money, advertisement agencies began to
develop ads that featured skinny girls with the body of twelve year old boys, and
short hair to promote different hair products. This allowed companies to charge the
same amount of money for a smaller amount of fabric. Thus emerged the Flapper of
the 1920s a truly new breed of woman whose new appearances matched their new
attitudes. These women would drink and
Analysis Of Truman Capote s Cold Blood
To judge is to irreparably arbitrate; the judged seldom find recourse if an error lies
in the judge s logic. In criminal proceedings, the courts judge alleged criminals and
deliver verdicts. A frequently encountered issue is determining guilt. Critics of the
de facto court system cite moral culpability as an ideal that the courts fail to attain.
Priding its moral superiority, the United States surprisingly lacks some of the basic
rights to justice afforded to others elsewhere. America purports to have a duty to
serve justice, yet the justice system provides little leeway to those whose crimes are
not their fault. This notion of unfulfilled justice appears in In Cold Bloodby Truman
Capote. When Dick and Perry commit murder, the circumstances are such that Perry
cannot be entirely accountable for the actions he took. Perry bears no responsibility
for the crimes he committed; storied psychological illnesses and pitfalls compromised
his sense of right and wrong, rendering him incapable of intervening in his planned
crime with Dick.
Perry never enjoyed to a hospitable, supportive family environment. Tragedy filled
his early years, spoiling his innocent view of the world too early. Evidence of this
broken family life is most evident in the commentary of Perry s sister. When asked
about Perry, Perry s sister states that She had said she was afraid of Perry, and she
was, but was it simply Perry she feared [and]...the terrible destinies that seemed
promised the four children of
The Role Of Women In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
In the Elizabethan era, women were considered to be the weaker sex, they were
dependent on man and were expected to do as told, without question. William
Shakespeare captures the essence of being a woman in the play Hamlet, by
introducing the characters, Gertrude and Ophelia. They are naive and gullible
characters that look for advice from a male figure and are expected to act in a
certain way that would please and not interfere with the opposite sex. Therefore the
role of women in the play Hamletis to act as a possession of their male figure and
maintain a reputation of innocence. For example, Ophelia, a young Danish courtier,
daughter of Polonius and the sister of Laertes, is categorized as a tragic innocent
womanwho loses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ophelia s obedience does not allow her to stand up to Hamlet, when he tells her to
Get thee to a nunnery (3.1 119) and that she is a breeder of sinners (3.1 119), again
referring to that women are only capable of following man in their lives and giving
birth, becoming wives without an opinion. The social expectation is to become
dependent on a male figure, when Ophelia s brother leaves to France, Hamlet
rejects her love by saying I loved you not (3.1 117) and also kills Polonius, her
father that she was the most dependent on, Ophelia no longer has someone that tells
her what to do and feels betrayed by her loved ones driving her insane. Ophelia has
to remain innocent while obeying her father and doing things that cause her
emotional pain, she does not have the right to say no and go against the male figures.
Likewise, Gertrude is in the same position as Ophelia. Gertrude the Queen of
Denmark who is married to Claudius now the king listens to a male figure below
her status. When she is asked to talk to Ophelia by a gentlewoman, she denies the
request until Horatio comes in and also asks for the favor, Gertrude replies let her
come in. (4.5 17). Therefore Gertrude is taking orders from a male character that
we do not know the origin of and is only presented as Hamlet s friend, which he met
at the University of Wittenberg. This scene shows Gertrude s weakness in front of
any male figure in the
Ethnic Conflicts in Nigeria
The military elites made the situation even worse by staging coups and making a
mockery of democracy in Nigeria. The military era was marked by corruption,
ineptitude and confusion. It drove Nigeria into many problems including economic
problems, poverty, and ethno religious conflicts until the 1990s. The military
continued intervening because they believed the civilian leaders were inept and
indecisive.
Ethnic conflicts continued to escalate through the democratic transition in Nigeria, as
various ethnic groups demanded political restructuring. The federal structure has
developed deep cracks and demands urgent action to fix it. What is most worrisome
in Nigeria is the religious dimension of ethnic conflict and competition for power and
oil wealth. The numerous ethno religious conflicts that the northern cities of Kaduna,
Kano, Jos and Zamfara have witnessed, came about from the introduction of Muslim
Sharia courts, in addition to the South s demands for autonomy. The continuing
conflict is a sign Nigeria s lack of effective mechanisms to manage ethnic conflicts.
The intense ethnic conflicts that rocked Nigeria and South Africa have pushed them
to develop constitutionally backed institutions for conflict management. In South
Africa, the state has prevented further conflicts by developing multiple democratic
approaches to create a foundation for peace and security. The new constitutioncrafted
an impressive document aimed to heal the wounds of the past and to build a
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Anti Dynasty In The...
The issue I chose to reflect upon is about the political dynasties present in the
Philippines. I am not one to be interested in the government and its inner workings.
I don t watch the news, nor do I read the papers, but this topic is relevant to society
and is appealing to me. While doing my research, I was shocked to know that the
anti political dynasty bill has already been a subject that has been debated on in
the 1987 Constitutional Commission. Commissioner Vicente Foz started the
debate when he proposed the prohibition of political dynasties in the Philippines.
The opposition however was led by Commissioner Teodulo Navidad saying that
this would be declining the people their power to choose and elect their governors.
After a series of more debates and arguments, stating the disadvantages and
advantages, the proposal was rejected. In the year 2011, Sen. Miriam Defensor
Santiago resurfaced the anti dynasty bill using the previous arguments for the
passage of the bill, yet the anti dynasty bill did not get anywhere again. The
proposal by Foz was rejected, but that was in 1987. Now, 28 years later, in the year
2015, we have different perspectives and opinions. The anti dynasty bill has surfaced
yet again. Has our views about... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Becoming a politician in the Philippines, has become like having a business
wherein you can name who your heir will be. That said, a lot of politicians make
their sons, daughters, and relatives run for positions in the government and because
of the popularity of the surname, people will vote for them expecting that they too,
will do good for them or that they will also become a good leader just like their
famous politician relative. But see, becoming a leader is not passed on by blood.
Just because their father was a great, caring person who always thought about the
community does not mean that they too will be a great, caring person who will

performance enhancing drugs in sports Essay
Performance Enhancing Drugs: Introduction
The Tour de France is considered the world s most competitive bicycle race. Each
summer top cycling teams from around the world compete in the three week event,
which sends riders on a grueling, multi stage course through the mountainous
countryside of Ireland, France, and Belgium. In 1998, the image of Tour de France
cyclists as athletes at the peak of their natural abilities was tarnished by allegations of
widespread performanceenhancing drug use among competitors. The doping scandal
broke a few days prior to the start of the race when a masseuse for France s Festina
team, Willy Voet, was arrested after police found large quantities of anabolic steroids
and erythropoietin, or EPO, in his car ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
WADA is also investing more of its resources in developing new tests to keep pace
with the changing array of drugs that athletes are taking.
Whether or not those who contend that drug tests remain easy to beat will be
satisfied by renewed testing efforts remains uncertain. Clearly, however,
performance enhancing drug testing has affected the careers of many elite athletes.
Athletes who test positive for drugs at the Olympic level are stripped of their
medals and records and are suspended from all competition for two years on the
first offense. In 1988, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson was stripped of a gold medal
and was later banned from track and field competition for life after he tested positive
for steroids. At the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, Romanian
gymnast Andrea Raducan had her gold medal taken away when she tested positive
for pseudoephedrine, a stimulant. American shot putter C.J. Hunter withdrew from
competition after it was revealed that he had tested positive four times for the steroid
nandrolone. Scores of other athletes were also expelled from the Sydney Games after
flunking drug tests. More recently, at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake
City, Utah, British skier Alain Baxter was stripped of his bronze medal after testing
positive for methamphetamine, although an appeal is pending.
Detection efforts notwithstanding, seeking an edge over one s opponents has long

Norovirus: A Pathological Phenomenon Noelia Gonzalez Health Science Technology

Norovirus Viruses affect us in our everyday life and they have become something
that is not an abnormal phenomenon or a fatal occurrence like it was in olden times.
(Alic and Longe , 2015) Likewise, the viruses that affect us have much impact of
what the actual disease is. Norovirus being an example of a virus that affects our
daily lives and can be fatal. (Longe, 2015) This disease is highly contagious and is
very often overlooked by the public eye, however it can have much impact on our
daily lives and how we live. This virus can be seen throughout all of your lifetime
and can affect anybody at any age, it is harder to treat as it can withstand high
temperatures and can live in almost any environment making it difficult to damage
and control. (Alic and Longe , 2015) Norovirus outbreaks are very common
University Education Should Be Free For Students With
3.0...
There are many students that are struggling to pay for a university education and
lately a university education is getting more and more expensive each year. There
are many students who graduate high school but don t receive a university education
because they can t afford one. Most of those students are really smart and can go
somewhere in life, but they end up working for a minimum wage because a university
educationis just too much for them. For that reason, a university education should be
free for all students who graduate high with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. If a
studenthas less than a 3.0 grade point average than they shouldn t even qualify to
apply for a university education, because if you can t get a simple 3.0 grade point
average in college what makes you think they can succeed at the university level.
There are many reasons a university education should be free for students with 3.0
grade point average or higher. The first reason is that most students who have to pay
for there university education usually take out loans and start working part time so
they make enough money to pay for there university education. This tends to
discourage them from succeeding and passing at the university level. The second
reason is that if smarter students receive a free education, it will decrease the amount
of university dropouts. The third reason is there would be tons of job competitions
for certain job positions if a university education is free. The forth and

The Armenian Genocide left the Armenians in ruin. Apart for the human and material
loss, the sociocultural loss was most significant. The Armenians were robbed of their
centuries old, rich culture within in a space of a year. Their society was forced into
diaspora in order to survive. This movement encouraged integration into other
countries and resulted in partial loss of the suffering Armenian culture.
Those Armenians who survived the genocide of 1915 were forced to exile their
Homeland in the Ottoman Empire in order to survive. Behind them they left their
culture; castles, towns, villages, churches, thousands of manuscripts and cultural
secrets and data were destroyed. This effectively stripped the Armenians of their rich
heritage left from ancestors. Within years, an entire culture, it s people and its all
histories were virtually erased. Today, Armenians are dispersed throughout the
Middle East and the United States, with only about 1 million of the estimated 9
million actually living in Armenia. This diaspora of the Armenians, living scattered

Justice In In The Republic
Justice according to you and Homer and Simonedes, is apparently a kind of art of
stealing but with the view of helping one s friends and harming one s enemies. In
the Republic by Plato one of many theories discussed amongst old friends,
Socrates, Thrasymachus and Polemarchus just to name a few, makes it clear that
stealing for a friend is okay and for an enemy is wrong. Although in Officespace a

In The Republic it is mentioned that justice is for the good of a friend and harm of
an enemy. In other words victory for a friend and jailtime for an enemy. In

reverse of what Peter thinks of justice. Eventhough what he is planning is wrong,
Peter feels in his good sense, what he is doing is right. Stealing from Limburgh his
boss, for the safetynet of his friends Samir and Michael that justice in Peter s eyes.
The art of stealing from his boss is camouflaging his scam through a virus. Peter
encourages his co workers to go along with this scheme so they can be secure for
their future. A sort of hidden revenge for all the disrespect and dishonor that has been
built overtime by Limburgh. Peter, Samir and Michael has good intentions, but gets

Bob is a male nickname or occasionally a given name, most common in English
speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom,
Australia, and New Zealand. It most likely originated from the nickname Rob,
short for Robert. Rhyming names were popular in the Middle Ages, so Richard
became Rick, Hick, or Dick, William became Will or Bill, and Robert became Rob,
Hob, Dob, Nob, or Bob.[1][2]
While it is impossible to count the popularity of Bob as a nickname, in 1960 nearly
3,000 babies in the United States were given the name Bob compared to fewer than
50 in 2000.[3]

The Environment Of The Sea Ocean
Over 70 percent of the world is covered in water. Water plays a huge part in our
world, whether the water makes our plants grow that feed our animals and plants
that we eat to the water that grows the trees we use to build our infrastructure, or
heat our homes with to providing a huge underwater world known as the Ocean and
water also is the main reason us, humans, are alive. We need water to live, without
water humans would not be able to survive. With this being said water runs our lives.
Humans which live on land also rely on life from the ocean for food. Humans must
keep the water pollution levels at normal levels or else the water will taint the animals
they use for food. The animals are not the only thing they have to worry about
polluting in the Ocean. Other pollutants like CO2 and other greenhouse gases make
the ocean waters fluctuate. This fluctuation affects the Climate.
The ocean waters are responsible for heating the planet. Although the land masses of
the world (continents) also receive the same amount of sunlight, there is much more
water than land, therefore the water absorbs most of the suns light. How the basics
of how this works is water evaporates into the air rising upwards. While this
evaporation is occurring the temperature rises as well as the humidity forming rain
and storms to develop. This is how hurricanes form in the tropics. The tropics are the
most variable for storms because of the warm waters. The warmer the waters are the
more likely there
Cloud Computing And Its Impact On The Entire Ict

Cloud computing has evolved with the passage of time and has revolutionized the
entire ICT industry. Cloud computing is categorized into two forms Service oriented
computing and Grid Computing. Service oriented Computing is an transpiring
paradigm that has revamped the consumption of software and related product all
around the globe. The core functionalities that service oriented computing provide is

protocols to support distributed computing across various organizations. [2] The
second type of cloud computing is Grid computing which also follows the distributed

Exposure Therapy And PTSD
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD can originate from many different things.
According to Wasmer (2016) about 7.7 billion people suffer from PTSD. One of the
most common contributors is war and combat situations. There is also rape, child
abuse, car accidents, and other tragic events that can cause PTSD. That being said
there are also several different ways to combat PTSD. The two most common
methods are medication and exposure therapy. Though there are many other forms of
therapy these two forms are recommended because of extensive research and positive
test results. When speaking with a doctor or therapist about PTSD and talking about
treatment options the first option given is medication. The type of medication

When their mind is calm and clear of negative thoughts a breakdown is highly

Ex-Offenders In The United States
Between 1980 and 2014 the number of incarcerated people in the United States
quadrupled from 500,000 to approximately 2.3 million. At any given time, the United
state incarcerates one percent of its population while another two percent are under
extended supervision (Wakefield and Uggen 2010). In addition, the United States has
faced a dramatic increase in its homeless and housing insecure population since the
1980s (Herbert, Morenoff, and Harding 2015). Reasons include a decline in
affordable housing, foreclosure, poverty, eroding work opportunities, and also laws
restricting certain populations from housing. This paper will address past and current
challenges related to reentry, recidivism, and housing by analyzing relevant empirical

Hillside Strangler Case Solution
The Hillside Strangler was the name given to two killers who strangled and killed
their victims, dumping their bodies in the hills of Los Angeles. These killings took
place during October 1977 and February 1978, involving ten young women ranging
from ages 12 to 28. With over one hundred law enforcement task force members
working to solve this case, the fear within the community was undeniably present. It
wasn t long before the clues would come in one by one, helping detectives solve this
heinous crime. Once two sets of DNA was revealed on the crime scenes, police
realized they had not just one, but two killers. The killers were later discovered to
be cousins Kenneth Alessio Bianchi and Angelo Anthony Buono. Kenneth Bianchi
was born in Rochester, New York to a prostitute mother and was given up for
adoption when he was born. His upbringing was normal, but he was known to be a
pathological liar. He had a fantasy about joining the police force, but when he
applied both in New York and Los Angeles, he was rejected. In 1975 Bianchi
decided to move to Los Angeles to stay with his role model and older cousin Angelo
Buono. He ends up living with Buono, becoming a part of his sexual urges, and
ultimately killing innocent women. Angelo Buono was also born in Rochester,
New York to Italian immigrant parents, and moved to Glendale California when he
was five years old. His interest about sex started at a young age, and as a teenager had
claimed to have raped several girls.

Visual anthropology is the practice of anthropology by using visual medium with the
study and production of ethnographic photography, film and, new media in culture
and society. The course anthropology of film is great starter for prospective
anthropologists and scholars to learn and develop the skills they need in the field of
anthropology. If there is anything that is important, it is the context of the research. In
this course, we also watched over ten films both anthropological and non
anthropological with ethnographic features. By watching both anthropological and
non anthropological films, I was able to observe and analyze each film in an ethical
manner. For instance, some of the films that we watched includes: Nanook of the
North, Born into Brothels, Les Maitres Fous and Kypseli, A Divided Reality:Men and
Women Apart. Each the films listed above may have faults, but they all had some
form of anthropological element. Firstly, Richard Flaherty s work Nanook of the
North portrayed qualities of an ethnographic film, although Flaherty was not an
anthropologist. According to Ruby, Flaherty not only behaved like an anthropologist,
but his field methods, his stated intentions, and his willingness to be
methodologically explicit place him more solidly within orthodox anthropology than
do the actions of most of the contemporary self professed ethnographic filmmakers
(Ruby 2000, 86). That is to say, by displaying ethnographic details in his film, the use

The Iliad was a masterpiece of a work, which entertained and gave a description of
how the Greeks lived out their lives in battle and at peace. The Iliad, by Homer, is

characteristics, which reveal further characteristics of the Greeks. A large influence

Although craft brewers use a number of unique additives to their batches to get the
right flavor, such as fruits, nuts and honey, the major necessity is hops. Although
hops can be sourced globally, the market demand is steeply rising will inevitably
drive up the cost. Larger macro brewers will have both the financial leverage and
the economies of scale to get the best of what is around, leaving microbrewers and
nano brewers to source elsewhere. There is also the consideration of price strategy
in the market. Craft beer is known for its higher cost of production and higher
purchase price to consumers, but as the trends in micro and nano breweries

that of the macro brewers in the United States. Currently, the pricing trends

it will take Anheuser Busch to do it, (Rojas, p.3). This trend has only slightly
manifested itself on the smaller market and realistically has just adhered to a

example, there is a number of craft breweries who have become infamous for

Persuasive Essay On Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is the source of the future energy developments. We are seeing a
dramatic shift in the attitude toward renewable energy throughout the world.
Many countries turning towards cleaner methods and more safe, practical, and
efficient. Countries such as Norway and iceland are almost one hundred percent
run on renewable resources with clean energy and air. Focusing specifically on the
United States, we have an issue with change and die to the fact of political and
economic pressures we have a true wicked problem in our midst. As a country the
united states which has a population of only 332,000,000 people so compared with
that of india whose population is 1.34 billion we should be surpassing them in
clean energy because numerically that would make sense. Looking at the statistical
charts that is not the case, the united states ranks second in highest CO2 emissions
while india a country whose population who is almost five times larger than ours
ranks behind us at the number four spot in CO2 emissions. So what is the issue,
well it goes back to the reason that this is a wicked problem you see we could
completely outlaw and abolish non natural sources of energy and clean production.
If that were to happen it would put many power, coal, and other unnatural energy
companies out of business because they would no longer be relevant. The issue is it

Cultural Differences Between Modern Day North And South
Changes occur in every region of the globe; every minute, every second. Most
individuals generally do not approve of changes. It entices fear, mistrust, isolation,
and even pain. In my youth, I liked change. Changes were something to look
forward to, it was fun to meet new individuals and an enjoyable way to see new
places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the age of
fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to
these words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texaswould be
quite similar to Toronto, but never could I fathom that this would completely change
my perception of the world. These Challenges have led me to understand the different
cultures between the north and south, not to believe in stereotypes, and made me
adaptable.
I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day
north and south. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference
in the two, however they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and
Wichita Falls, Texas. It may sound obvious but there are geographical differences.
For one, in the north we have more clear and fast rivers, and we almost always
have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more fertile, so in essence
we see more farms and large areas of land. Also, there is an incredible difference in
population difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst
the biggest
Ian Hodder s Reading The Past
W Welliver
Reading the Past In Reading the Past, Ian Hodder argues that Processual, or New,
Archaeology is flawed and that we must look at approaches used before its adoption
and integrate parts of those approaches into the study of archaeology. He points out
that Symbols in Action helped him to develop three ideas regarding how to do this.
First, we must consider that material culture has meaning. Second, that the individual
is important to the development of theory in archaeology; and finally that archaeology
is most closely related to history and should consider that in its approach. In looking
at meaning in material culture Hodder brings up how ethnographic work showed that,
contrary to previous belief, interaction between cultures could actually lead to a more
marked difference in their pottery styles. He also referenced burial practices and
refuse buildup, and how they differ based on cultural beliefs of death and dirt,
respectively. He also goes on ton argue that the material culture is not solely an
adaptation to the environment, but also depended upon the culture that produces it.
To attempt to properly interpret the material culture requires context. Here Hodder
asks three questions concerning context: what is it, is the meaning we construct the
same that was in people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hodder argues that through the actions of individuals and the material culture
society is created. However Processual archaeology rejected the individual and
chose to look at the socio cultural system and its long term development.
Ethnographic information shows this as a flawed approach. In some cases
variations in ceramic styles were to denote social differences, as opposed to the
craftsman s education or the ceramics use, something a processual archaeologist may
not even consider. He does point out that the focus on the individual has nothing to
do with the role of free will in change, but rather to add meaning to the material
Managing Cultism in Tertiary Institutions

Abstract
Importunate secret cult activities have created a culture of fear and turned many
tertiary institutions into centres of violence, where Fear, anxiety and insecurity of
lives and properties are the order of the day. These scenarios have resulted in poor
learning, poor performance and low academic attainment. The objective of this study
is how to eradicate cultism from our tertiary institutions so as to enable them to

Encyclopaedia Britannica (2009) cautions that cult worship is so universal in religion
that some historians of religion actually define religion as cult.
From the definitions given so far, we can deduce that cultism/cult, secret cult and
secret society are secret groups of people whose members are bound on an oath to
keep the activities of each and every member secret. It is also safe to say that cult
fraternity may be violent or beneficial to the society, depending on the objectives of
the members. For example, some secret cults are formed to provide benevolent
services while others are formed due to political reasons to protect the interest of the
society. In light of these definitions, we shall use cultism, cult, secret cult and secret
society interchangeably.
2.2The Evolution of Cultism
Secret adherence to a doctrine or leader based on a common dogma or beliefs has
been in existence for a very long time. All over the world, secret cults have been
flourishing and causing positive and/or negative impacts. On the positive side,
religious experience are said to have received its initial, practical expression in the
forming of cult that provides an orderly framework for the religious object. The
Egyptian religion, the ancient Greek Adonis and the Roman Catholicism are said to
be cults (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2009). While on
Scorpion Character Analysis
Scorpion is a show that centers around a group of geniuses, an ex waitress, her
genius son, and a middle aged homeland security agent, who use their expertise to
save the world one disaster at a time. This show is said to be based on the life of
Walter O Brien, who is a producer for the show. I personally really enjoy watching
the stories unfold, but the show tends to get mixed reviews overall, and while I like
the show there are some things that I think could be done better. First, it is important
to note that this show is produced by computer expert and alleged geniusWalter O
Brien, and was created to promote his computer company. (Although, unless someone
does research about the show, there is really nothing in the show to connect it to O
Brien s company, so I m not entirely sure how this show actually promotes anything.)
O Brien claims to have the fourth highest IQ in the world, and his characteron the
show played by Elyes Gabel constantly references this fact throughout the show. O
Brien claims that this show is based on his life experiences, so he contributes to the
story, consults on technical aspects of the show as well as the plot, and generally
gives his opinion on how he would solve the problems, according to his Wikipedia
page. Now, knowing O Brien s influence, and that this show is a publicity stunt, I
take the whole show with a grain of salt. I certainly didn t go into this show expecting
it to mimic or show completely realistic situations. On the
Narcissism In Social Work
Published
There are many business issues we all face in the work place today. One of those
that I can personally relate to my professional work life is narcissism. Stephen
Robbins defines narcissism as being the tendency to be arrogant, have a grandiose
sense of self importance, require excessive admiration, and have a sense of
entitlement. (Robbins, 2009, p. 113) We have one employee who has the attitude of
narcissism. He is very arrogant and thinks that he knows everything about anything.
This would be fine if he actually did. However, we are an electrical company.
Meaning we work very closely with electricity, which is highly dangerous if you
do not know 100% what you are doing. It makes it very difficult to work with
someone like this. They make their co workers feel belittled and they are less
effective at the job. Narcissisms are very arrogant in the fact that they do not care
about their co workers feelings. In the article Narcissism and Emotional Contagion ,
Writer Anna Czarna states that after much research, narcissists are less likely to catch

believe that if my boss would do this we could seek out potential employees who

Southwest Calder Valley North Of Lochwinnoch
1. Introduction
Since1970, Muirshiel Country Park has been part of Clyde Muirshiel Regional
Park which is situated in the River Calder Valley north of Lochwinnoch. The park
is an area of general natural beauty with beautiful landscapes and great scenic
views but people are allowed to live and work within the area. It may look remote
but it has a purpose for human activity, as in the past the land has been used as a
farm situated close to the current entrance, for field sports such as grouse shooting
and more recently for barytes mining. The mine closed in 1969, just before the
opening of the country park. (Clyde Muirshiel Park Authority [CMPA from now on],
n.d.) The current use of the park is mainly recreational, with a small network of
footpaths for walkers, cyclists, and educational groups. Other land uses include
forestry, field sports, and small scale agriculture. For this assignment we are
imagining that a gold bearing ore outcrops on Windy Hill just to the north of the
country park.
The vein extends below the hill summit to an unknown depth and can be traced
horizontally across the landscape for at least a kilometre on either side of Windy
Hill. The scope of this assignment is to identify and evaluate the environmental
impacts of building a gold mining site in this area and how this might affect the local
geology, landscape, ecology, hydrology, and overall biodiversity.
2. Methodology
We carried out this assignment by going on a field visit to Muirshiel
Toys Are Today s Society Essay
Toys Are Us
In today s society, parents throughout the United States differ on their views
towards children s toys. Some children face different options and consequences
when wanting a toy from the opposite gender section. Occasionally, you will see in
the headlines of a newspaper saying how progressive a mother is because she
allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys that are aimed towards
boys are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that are
aimed towards them are associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities
are so recognized and known that I have decided to do an essay on them to see
what is alike and what is different in the areas of the toys. I decided to follow two
families for this analysis. These two families both come from a Mexican culture. In
household X, the family is both Mexican and American. In household Y, the family
comes from a strict Mexican culture. In response to my analysis, based on what I
have seen in both of the households I visited, I feel as though the children should
choose what matters to them in relevance to the fun. Allowing the children to have a
variety of toys opens up different skills. Different toys bring different challenges.
Parents should not restrict their children to strong gender toys, as though it could not
help them develop physically, academically, artistically, cognitively, and musically.
In household X, the family of six had a young daughter who is approximately three

Bye Bye Birdie Analysis
The Broadway musical Bye Bye Birdie premiered in 1960 and continues to enjoy
popularity among various audiences. Written and composed by Lee Adams and
Charles Strouse, the musical fictionalizes the real life induction of rock and roll
idol Elvis Presley through the character of Conrad Birdie into the United States
Army. One important element of the musical s plot is the excitement of a group of
teenagers in a small Ohio town when they learn of the arrival of a rock star and the
prospect of one lucky girl getting a final good bye kiss. The version of Bye Bye Birdie
that was reviewed for this analysis was an August 2017 stage production by Gulfport
Little Theatre. Like the original production of the musical, the Gulfport Little
Theater production stayed truthful to biographical details of Elvis s life and all
actors were highly professional in their representation of individual characters;
however, unlike the original production, the set was reduced to an absolute
minimum which was clearly noticeable to the audience. Both productions of the
musical have identical plots and scene sequences. These may seem self explanatory;
however, it is noteworthy that directors often take artistic liberties in interpreting
plays or musicals, especially when they may appear dated to contemporary
audiences. This, however, was not the case in the 2017 production of Bye Bye
Birdie because it stuck strictly to script; so much so, that actors could have been
exchanged across plays without any
The Construct Of Narcissism And Its Origins Of Modern...
The construct of narcissism finds its origins in ancient Greece and Ovid s
Metamorphoses, with the proud and vain figure of Narcissus, cursed by the goddess,
Nemesis, to fall in love with his own reflection. However, conceptualizations of
pathological narcissism did not became a part of psychological theory until the late
nineteenth century with Freud s eminent essay: On Narcissism(Ronningstam, 2005).
As Freud theorized on narcissism and, ironically, experimented with cocaine, the
formal diagnosis of addiction was precipitously incorporated into the medical
literature in response to increasing uncontrolled narcotic use and growing public
health concern (Markel, 2012). Perhaps predictably, theorizing on the possible
association between narcissism and addiction, particularly in the psychoanalytic
tradition, has been addressed by theorists since. The term narcissistic personality
disorder(NPD) was first introduced by Heinz Kohut in 1968, and saw inclusion in
formal diagnostic literature in 1980 as a part of the significant revisions to
personality disorders in the third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders (DSM; American Psychiatric Association, 1980).
However, despite the theoretical history hypothesizing a relationship between
narcissistic personality and addictive disorders, empirical research supporting this
relationship is limited and largely inconsistent. Adding to the lack of research
defining the proposed association between narcissism
Marita Golden s Migrations Of Africa Literature Analysis
Within Marita Golden s Migrations of the Heart, Paul Theroux s The Lower River,
and Ernest Hemingway s The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Africa appears as a recurring
setting, and as such, it acts as the agent of change. Within each of these stories, the
main characters are not African born, yet they all find a form of fulfillment in a
place considered so remote to many. The role of Africawithin Migrations of the Heart,
The Lower River, and The Snows of Kilimanjarois pivotal in the role of realizing one
s self.
In Marita Golden s Migrations of the Heart, Africa is presented as a long lost home,
yet when Marita, the protagonist, attempts to integrate closely with its culture, she
ultimately achieves self understanding rather than assimilation. Although she was
raised in America, Marita quickly falls in love with Femi, but more so with his
ties to Nigeria: Tell me everything about Nigeria. Then tell me everything about you
(Golden, 50). Marita and Femi share a love together for many years, and they even
progress to getting married and having a child, but for various reasons, their
relationship sours. Perhaps partially because Marita s love for Femi was founded
on a romanticized idea of Africa, an image which eventually spoils in the face of
tribalism, corruption, and ignorance (Golden, 182). Marita chooses to move back to
America with her child, to escape Femi and to escape the various prejudices she
faced in Africa, and once she lands back in America, she effectively

the major reasons why Socs and Greasers always fight. Society/Class makes them

Socs are prepped who, according to Ponyboy, Jump greasers and wreck houses and

one day and asset to society the next (Hinton, pg. 3).The Socs love picking on the
greasers and starting fights yet, they are a Upper class out of the two. Society views
the Socs as rich and classy, and the greasers agree. In the texts Ponyboy says Greasers
are almost like hoods, we steal things and drive old souped up cars and hold up gas
stations and have gang fights once in a while (Hinton, pg. 3). When our society
decides whether or not you re in an upper class or lower class when it comes to
what job do they work at, or even what s their salary and where they live. In the

The Real General George Patton Essay
The Real General George Patton
World War II was the most destructive war in history. It began in 1939 as a
European conflict between Germany and a British and French alliance, but
eventually included most of the nations of the world. Most of the war was fought
with the same types of weapons used in World War I. The greatest advances were in
aircraft and tanks.
Patton was the first soldier in the tank corps. He created the training procedures, the
regulations and the methods of instruction. At that time the American public saw
Patton as an arrogant man who enraged Americans because he slapped a soldier who
was hospitalized for post traumatic stress disorder, which at that time was called
combat fatigue. The movie portrays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in reality, at this point in time, he was still a lieutenant general and the
decorations were awarded to him after the war. Patton is shown in Morocco, where in
1941 he was the commander of the 2nd Armored Division. He was assigned to seize
Cassablanca, which he did. He went to the headquarters of Admiral Michelier with
pearl handled pistols and a tommy gun and impressed the Sultan of Morocco. One of
the beginning scenes inthe movie shows Patton being presented with the order of

1942, when Rommel attacked through the southern flank of the British line west of
El Alamein. General Bernard Law Montgomery fought with Patton, and forced
Rommel into a retreat. Throughout the movie, Rommel and Patton are seen as major
adversaries.
Three American, three British, and one Canadian divisions landed on Sicily on July

island and overcame the last Axis opposition on August 17. The movie does not

Italian government had entered into negotiations that ended in an armistice on
September 8. The movie does deal with the famous slapping incident. The movie does

Film Noir Research Paper
Film Noir s Effect on Modern Cinema
High heels click on wet pavement, shady detectives stand in the shadows, shots ring
out through the cold, dark city night just another moment in film noir. These seedy,
almost underground films are considered to be some of the best and most influential
pictures in the history of Hollywood by anyone s standards, most certainly some of
the darkest. Even though the glory days of film noir have long passed and given way
to big budget productions, their influence and effect on the industry can be felt and
seen throughout the movies of today.
The term film noir is a French term literally meaning, black cinema. During the
second world war occupying Germans would control what pictures the people of ...

Such as the character of Sam Spade (played by Humphrey Bogart) in The Maltese
Falcon (1941), who is himself being pursued by police after the mysterious death of
his partner. In pursuit of a gold encrusted statue of a falcon, the woman who asks
him to go after turns out to be his enemy the entire time, using her fierce sexuality to
lure him along and manipulate his actions [3]. In the end, instead of the classic
?getting the girl? scenario so common in Hollywood, Spade simply turns her over the
authorities, condemning her to prison and possibly even death. There are rarely
happy endings in film noirs, especially with characters such as these.
The other most noted character to be birthed from noir is that of the femme fatale, or
spider woman. She is often extremely sexual, and tries to control men (often the
private eye/anti hero) to do their bidding [2]. In 1944?s Double Indemnity, Barbara
Stanwyck plays Phyllis Dietrichson the wife of a wealthy man with a hefty life
insurance policy. Throughout the film she coerces and manipulates the film?s main
character, an insurance salesman named Walter Neff (played by Fred MacMurray)
into carrying out the murder and disposal of her husband to gain the money from his
life insurance policy [3]. However, she only wants to kill him in the end to have the
money to herself?but alas this is film noir and the film ends
Supportive Treatment
Treatment
While the scientific community has known about the existence of coronaviruses for
decades, there remain no licensed or approved therapies used in their specific
treatment, nor vaccines to work as a preventive measure. As such, supportive
treatment remains the most effective treatment measure for those patients affected.
Supportive treatment involves the management of the symptoms of the disease,
particularly with relation to pneumonia and respiratory tract infections associated
with it. This includes various approaches such as respiratory and circulatory support,
oxygenation, and preservation of the patient s renal, hepatic and neurological
functions, working to prevent opportunistic infections, hydration, and the use of ...

To date, there are no clinical trials involving humans for virus specific therapies for
MERS CoV infection. Data regarding ribavirin, interferon and convalescent plasma
are limited. Other medications, such as mycophenolic acid, chloroquine,
chlorpromazine, loperamide, and lopinavir, have shown an inhibitory effect on
MERS CoV replication in vitro; however, in the absence of clinical data, these drugs
are not recommended for clinical use outside clinical trials, (Alsolamy Arabi, 2015).
Certain treatments may even lead to the worsening of patient conditions such as
leading to ICU admissions, mortality or increased viral loads, which makes further
research into the treatment of the disease quite critical (Modjarrad, 2016).
While supportive treatments remain the main form of therapy, further research is
continuing into the use of antiviral therapy particularly in severely ill patients. This
involves investment and funding directed towards drug development, as few drugs
currently exist for MERS CoV. However, as (Modjarrad, 2016) notes, the outbreak of
the Ebola virus served to accelerate research and development in the area. This
remains in its novel phases as companies seek to either repurpose existing drugs or
create new ones for use. As part of the research, small interfering RNA molecules and
peptide inhibitors are being investigated for their ability to disrupt
Sleeping Vs Cosleeping
The first year of infancy is always a debate on benefits or risks of sleeping solitary
versus cosleeping, and bed sharing. The present longitudinal study attempted to shed
further light on linkages between sleep arrangement use across the first year
postpartum, infant parent sleep, and family functioning, in a central Pennsylvania
sample (Crosby, Kim, Shimizu, Titi, 2016). Unlike previous studies, this present
study examines linkages between infantsleep arrangements, sleep quality, and family
functioning across five different age points in an infant s first year of life. They also
captured the fluidity of different patterns for sleep arrangements (e.g., consistent
solitary sleep, early cosleeping that switched to solitary sleep by 6 months).... Show

The articles information was all over the place and not clearly separated. At the end
of the study, the author s state that the mother s filled out an infant sleep diary every
morning across the full week of observations. This would have been helpful to know
in the procedure section of the article.
The present study lacked evidence in the design and measures. They were insufficient
to address issues of causality. Marital and family stress were first measured at the end
of the infant s first month leaving them unaware of parenting and family dynamics
that may have unfolded during the infants first month and what impact that may have
had on the sleep arrangement choices, parents perceptions of martial adjustment, and
co parenting. More sensitive and time intensive approaches beginning during the
infants first few weeks of life may better address the design.
Overall, the study was very interesting. The authors , studying family studies and
human development, really explained their reasoning on doing this research. They
were able to find answers to all their hypothesis but the study still requires for
research. It is nice to find some answers on a major debate if it is good for you to
allow your baby to cosleep with you and knowing all the
Virtue Theories And Non-Moral Consequences
This week I learned about several different moral theories, non consequentialist
theories, consequentialist theories, and virtue theories. A nonconsequentialist theory
states that moral actions are determined by more than just their non moral
consequences, while the consequentialist theory states that moral actions are
determined by only their non moral consequences. The first theory we learned about
was Ethical Egoism, it is the claim that a morally right action is one that produces
more good and fewer bad consequences for oneself than any other action. The next
theory that was discussed was Utilitarianism, it is the claim that a morally right
action is one that produces more good and fewer bad consequences for everyone than
any other action.
Loss Of Love By The Dystopian Novel Of The Brief And...
People say you don t know what you ve got until it s gone. Truth is, you knew what
you had, you just never thought you d lose it. Anonymous . In other words, what
the quote means is that people know what they have, but they just don t have it in
mind that they will lose it someday. Many people out there often do not realize that
they can lose someone so close to them as that special someone will forever exist.
Without any loss, there is no love. If people do not care to loose someone there was
never love to begin with. In the dystopian novel of The Brief and Frightening Reign
of Phil, the theme is loss of love. Loss of love is both demonstrated in the novel and
as well it is presented in the real world. Loss of love occurs in The Brief... Show more

In other words, Saunders believes that out of nowhere the Inner Horner land just
shrunk and only three quarters of Elmer were left and they were no longer in their
Inner Horner residence. Whereas, in real life, Undocumented Immigrants are losing
their homes not only their homes, but their jobs and family members. The president
of the United States Donald Trump is trying to get rid of all undocumented
immigrants and leave them with nothing. According to Chris Sommerfeldt, Romulo
Avelica Gonzalez, a 48 year old Mexican immigrant who has lived and worked in
the country for over 25 years, was pulled over by agents a few blocks from his 12
year old daughter s school in Pasadena (N.p). In making this comment, Sommerfeldt
argues that a working father who has been living in the United States was pulled over
by an agent in front of his daughter taking him away from her. Undocumented
immigrants are losing everything without any warning it is happening out of
nowhere, just like Inner Horner s they lost their home without any warning. Both
Inner Horner s losing their homes and Undocumented immigrants getting deported is
demonstrating loss of love.
Throughout the novel, Carol loses his love one Cal when he was disassembled by
Phil s commands, in the real world in Syria people are likewise losing their loved
ones. Phil is the main character from the novel who is an Outer Horner which he
controls it where no one there has the power to speak for themselves. Phil is

For example: Red Bull Stratos was a space diving project involving Austrian
skydiver Felix Baumgartner. Baumgartner broke the sound barrier on his descent,
thus becoming the first human to do so without any form of engine power. Eight
million people viewed the Red Bull Stratos project live and hundreds of millions
of people heard about it via every kind of media creating a massive publicity flow
towards Red Bull. Currently Red Bull is the market leader, however, due to high
prices and the increased competition Red Bull is losing market share and sales.
Hansen Natural Corporation (HNC) is another strong competitor. They produce and
manufacture a wide variety of non alcoholic beverages in the U.S. However they are
known for their energy drink: Monster, which we see as one of the most promising
new energy drink brands. Recently HNC have benefited from distribution agreements.
For example: Anheuser Busch wholesalers distributed the brand to retailers in
different territories in the US in 2007. They also distribute to on premise retailers.
This includes bars, nightclubs and restaurants in territories selected by Hansen
Natural Cooperation. Furthermore, Monster Energy focuses on a specific age group.
They focus on gamers, Extreme Sports enthusiasts and the hip hip crowd. This
enables them a huge market, mostly with the gaming community.
The last prominent competitor is Rockstar Inc. Rockstar was introduced in 2001 and
is distributed by the Coca Cola Company.

The complexity arises from the vast scope of the topic, encompassing a myriad of interconnected issues ranging from climate change and biodiversity loss to pollution and sustainable development. The sheer volume of information available on these subjects can be overwhelming, making it challenging to sift through the data and identify the most relevant and impactful points to include in your essay. Moreover, the field of environmental studies is dynamic, with ongoing developments and new research emerging regularly. Staying updated on the latest findings and incorporating them into your essay adds an additional layer of complexity. Ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the information you present is crucial, considering the increasing importance of environmental issues in contemporary society. • 2. US Influence On Somalia Somalia is a country that has become synonymous with war. The international community continues to spend billions yearly in the fight to stabilize the country even with the persistence of criminal activity and transnational threat groups. The fall of the Somalian Government in 1991 set the conditions for terrorists, pirates, and criminal gangs to use Somalia as a base of operations. (Reed, Thompson, Kfir, 2015) The increase donor spending is accredited to the recent success of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and the Somali Armed Forces (SAF) against Al Shabaab. Al Shabaab, an Al Qaida (AQ) affiliated, militant Islamic organization will remain the largest threat to the stability of Somalia. Starting as a national movement... Before deploying trainers and advisors to Somalia, the US military presence had been limited to Special Operations raids and limited Ariel surveillance. • 3. Society s View of Women in Media and Sports To begrudge folks of their opinion of these women is useless. Beauty is entirely subjective, a matter truly in the eye of the beholder, (Source 1). The media is infamous for how it views individuals. Television shows such as TMZ and Extra exist for the sole purpose of not only stalking, but also ridiculing celebrities regardless of whether or not they planned to be in the limelight. If Jennifer Lawrence appears gorgeous in her red carpet gown, she is praised; if she is caught with a slice of pizza in her mouth she is viewed by the same people as a slob. The media treats its precious celebrities like dogs, rewarding them or scolding them for their behaviors. This attitude is not reserved for celebrities, as it also affects the common, non famous people men and women both and emerged in the Roaring 20s. Before the cultural transformation of that era, women fit the image of the so called Gibson Girl. The Gibson Girl was extremely feminine and beautiful with long, flowing, thick hair, modest yet elegant outfits, and wide birthing hips. When companies started to yearn for more money, advertisement agencies began to develop ads that featured skinny girls with the body of twelve year old boys, and short hair to promote different hair products. This allowed companies to charge the same amount of money for a smaller amount of fabric. Thus emerged the Flapper of the 1920s a truly new breed of woman whose new appearances matched their new attitudes. These women would drink and
  • 4. Analysis Of Truman Capote s Cold Blood To judge is to irreparably arbitrate; the judged seldom find recourse if an error lies in the judge s logic. In criminal proceedings, the courts judge alleged criminals and deliver verdicts. A frequently encountered issue is determining guilt. Critics of the de facto court system cite moral culpability as an ideal that the courts fail to attain. Priding its moral superiority, the United States surprisingly lacks some of the basic rights to justice afforded to others elsewhere. America purports to have a duty to serve justice, yet the justice system provides little leeway to those whose crimes are not their fault. This notion of unfulfilled justice appears in In Cold Bloodby Truman Capote. When Dick and Perry commit murder, the circumstances are such that Perry cannot be entirely accountable for the actions he took. Perry bears no responsibility for the crimes he committed; storied psychological illnesses and pitfalls compromised his sense of right and wrong, rendering him incapable of intervening in his planned crime with Dick. Perry never enjoyed to a hospitable, supportive family environment. Tragedy filled his early years, spoiling his innocent view of the world too early. Evidence of this broken family life is most evident in the commentary of Perry s sister. When asked about Perry, Perry s sister states that She had said she was afraid of Perry, and she was, but was it simply Perry she feared [and]...the terrible destinies that seemed promised the four children of
  • 5. The Role Of Women In Hamlet By William Shakespeare In the Elizabethan era, women were considered to be the weaker sex, they were dependent on man and were expected to do as told, without question. William Shakespeare captures the essence of being a woman in the play Hamlet, by introducing the characters, Gertrude and Ophelia. They are naive and gullible characters that look for advice from a male figure and are expected to act in a certain way that would please and not interfere with the opposite sex. Therefore the role of women in the play Hamletis to act as a possession of their male figure and maintain a reputation of innocence. For example, Ophelia, a young Danish courtier, daughter of Polonius and the sister of Laertes, is categorized as a tragic innocent womanwho loses... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ophelia s obedience does not allow her to stand up to Hamlet, when he tells her to Get thee to a nunnery (3.1 119) and that she is a breeder of sinners (3.1 119), again referring to that women are only capable of following man in their lives and giving birth, becoming wives without an opinion. The social expectation is to become dependent on a male figure, when Ophelia s brother leaves to France, Hamlet rejects her love by saying I loved you not (3.1 117) and also kills Polonius, her father that she was the most dependent on, Ophelia no longer has someone that tells her what to do and feels betrayed by her loved ones driving her insane. Ophelia has to remain innocent while obeying her father and doing things that cause her emotional pain, she does not have the right to say no and go against the male figures. Likewise, Gertrude is in the same position as Ophelia. Gertrude the Queen of Denmark who is married to Claudius now the king listens to a male figure below her status. When she is asked to talk to Ophelia by a gentlewoman, she denies the request until Horatio comes in and also asks for the favor, Gertrude replies let her come in. (4.5 17). Therefore Gertrude is taking orders from a male character that we do not know the origin of and is only presented as Hamlet s friend, which he met at the University of Wittenberg. This scene shows Gertrude s weakness in front of any male figure in the
  • 6. Ethnic Conflicts in Nigeria The military elites made the situation even worse by staging coups and making a mockery of democracy in Nigeria. The military era was marked by corruption, ineptitude and confusion. It drove Nigeria into many problems including economic problems, poverty, and ethno religious conflicts until the 1990s. The military continued intervening because they believed the civilian leaders were inept and indecisive. Ethnic conflicts continued to escalate through the democratic transition in Nigeria, as various ethnic groups demanded political restructuring. The federal structure has developed deep cracks and demands urgent action to fix it. What is most worrisome in Nigeria is the religious dimension of ethnic conflict and competition for power and oil wealth. The numerous ethno religious conflicts that the northern cities of Kaduna, Kano, Jos and Zamfara have witnessed, came about from the introduction of Muslim Sharia courts, in addition to the South s demands for autonomy. The continuing conflict is a sign Nigeria s lack of effective mechanisms to manage ethnic conflicts. The intense ethnic conflicts that rocked Nigeria and South Africa have pushed them to develop constitutionally backed institutions for conflict management. In South Africa, the state has prevented further conflicts by developing multiple democratic approaches to create a foundation for peace and security. The new constitutioncrafted an impressive document aimed to heal the wounds of the past and to build a

I am not one to be interested in the government and its inner workings. I don t watch the news, nor do I read the papers, but this topic is relevant to society and is appealing to me. While doing my research, I was shocked to know that the anti political dynasty bill has already been a subject that has been debated on in the 1987 Constitutional Commission. Commissioner Vicente Foz started the debate when he proposed the prohibition of political dynasties in the Philippines. The opposition however was led by Commissioner Teodulo Navidad saying that this would be declining the people their power to choose and elect their governors. After a series of more debates and arguments, stating the disadvantages and advantages, the proposal was rejected. In the year 2011, Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago resurfaced the anti dynasty bill using the previous arguments for the passage of the bill, yet the anti dynasty bill did not get anywhere again. Each summer top cycling teams from around the world compete in the three week event, which sends riders on a grueling, multi stage course through the mountainous countryside of Ireland, France, and Belgium. In 1998, the image of Tour de France cyclists as athletes at the peak of their natural abilities was tarnished by allegations of widespread performanceenhancing drug use among competitors. The doping scandal broke a few days prior to the start of the race when a masseuse for France s Festina team, Willy Voet, was arrested after police found large quantities of anabolic steroids and erythropoietin, or EPO, in his car ... Whether or not those who contend that drug tests remain easy to beat will be satisfied by renewed testing efforts remains uncertain. Clearly, however, performance enhancing drug testing has affected the careers of many elite athletes. Athletes who test positive for drugs at the Olympic level are stripped of their medals and records and are suspended from all competition for two years on the first offense. In 1988, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson was stripped of a gold medal and was later banned from track and field competition for life after he tested positive for steroids. At the 2000 Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, Romanian gymnast Andrea Raducan had her gold medal taken away when she tested positive for pseudoephedrine, a stimulant. American shot putter C.J. Hunter withdrew from competition after it was revealed that he had tested positive four times for the steroid nandrolone. Scores of other athletes were also expelled from the Sydney Games after flunking drug tests. More recently, at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, British skier Alain Baxter was stripped of his bronze medal after testing positive for methamphetamine, although an appeal is pending. Detection efforts notwithstanding, seeking an edge over one s opponents has long made the use of

There are many students that are struggling to pay for a university education and lately a university education is getting more and more expensive each year. There are many students who graduate high school but don t receive a university education because they can t afford one. Most of those students are really smart and can go somewhere in life, but they end up working for a minimum wage because a university educationis just too much for them. For that reason, a university education should be free for all students who graduate high with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. If a studenthas less than a 3.0 grade point average than they shouldn t even qualify to apply for a university education, because if you can t get a simple 3.0 grade point average in college what makes you think they can succeed at the university level. • 13. Dian Diana Der-Hovanessian s Essay Two Voices The Armenian Genocide left the Armenians in ruin. Apart for the human and material loss, the sociocultural loss was most significant. The Armenians were robbed of their centuries old, rich culture within in a space of a year. Their society was forced into diaspora in order to survive. This movement encouraged integration into other countries and resulted in partial loss of the suffering Armenian culture. Those Armenians who survived the genocide of 1915 were forced to exile their Homeland in the Ottoman Empire in order to survive. Behind them they left their culture; castles, towns, villages, churches, thousands of manuscripts and cultural secrets and data were destroyed. This effectively stripped the Armenians of their rich heritage left from ancestors. Within years, an entire culture, it s people and its all histories were virtually erased. Today, Armenians are dispersed throughout the Middle East and the United States, with only about 1 million of the estimated 9 million actually living in Armenia. Water plays a huge part in our world, whether the water makes our plants grow that feed our animals and plants that we eat to the water that grows the trees we use to build our infrastructure, or heat our homes with to providing a huge underwater world known as the Ocean and water also is the main reason us, humans, are alive. We need water to live, without water humans would not be able to survive. With this being said water runs our lives. Humans which live on land also rely on life from the ocean for food. Humans must keep the water pollution levels at normal levels or else the water will taint the animals they use for food. The animals are not the only thing they have to worry about polluting in the Ocean. Other pollutants like CO2 and other greenhouse gases make the ocean waters fluctuate. This fluctuation affects the Climate. The ocean waters are responsible for heating the planet. Although the land masses of the world (continents) also receive the same amount of sunlight, there is much more water than land, therefore the water absorbs most of the suns light. How the basics of how this works is water evaporates into the air rising upwards. While this evaporation is occurring the temperature rises as well as the humidity forming rain and storms to develop. This is how hurricanes form in the tropics. The tropics are the most variable for storms because of the warm waters. The warmer the waters are the more likely there

Reasons include a decline in affordable housing, foreclosure, poverty, eroding work opportunities, and also laws restricting certain populations from housing. • 24. Hillside Strangler Case Solution The Hillside Strangler was the name given to two killers who strangled and killed their victims, dumping their bodies in the hills of Los Angeles. These killings took place during October 1977 and February 1978, involving ten young women ranging from ages 12 to 28. With over one hundred law enforcement task force members working to solve this case, the fear within the community was undeniably present. It wasn t long before the clues would come in one by one, helping detectives solve this heinous crime. Once two sets of DNA was revealed on the crime scenes, police realized they had not just one, but two killers. The killers were later discovered to be cousins Kenneth Alessio Bianchi and Angelo Anthony Buono. Kenneth Bianchi was born in Rochester, New York to a prostitute mother and was given up for adoption when he was born. His upbringing was normal, but he was known to be a pathological liar. He had a fantasy about joining the police force, but when he applied both in New York and Los Angeles, he was rejected. In 1975 Bianchi decided to move to Los Angeles to stay with his role model and older cousin Angelo Buono. He ends up living with Buono, becoming a part of his sexual urges, and ultimately killing innocent women. Angelo Buono was also born in Rochester, New York to Italian immigrant parents, and moved to Glendale California when he was five years old. His interest about sex started at a young age, and as a teenager had claimed to have raped several girls.

Visual anthropology is the practice of anthropology by using visual medium with the study and production of ethnographic photography, film and, new media in culture and society. The course anthropology of film is great starter for prospective anthropologists and scholars to learn and develop the skills they need in the field of anthropology. If there is anything that is important, it is the context of the research. In this course, we also watched over ten films both anthropological and non anthropological with ethnographic features. By watching both anthropological and non anthropological films, I was able to observe and analyze each film in an ethical manner. For instance, some of the films that we watched includes: Nanook of the North, Born into Brothels, Les Maitres Fous and Kypseli, A Divided Reality:Men and Women Apart. Each the films listed above may have faults, but they all had some form of anthropological element. Firstly, Richard Flaherty s work Nanook of the North portrayed qualities of an ethnographic film, although Flaherty was not an anthropologist. According to Ruby, Flaherty not only behaved like an anthropologist, but his field methods, his stated intentions, and his willingness to be methodologically explicit place him more solidly within orthodox anthropology than do the actions of most of the contemporary self professed ethnographic filmmakers (Ruby 2000, 86). That is to say, by displaying ethnographic details in his film, the use of anthropological

The issue is it s simply political clean energy bills are voted in the senate and house, but the people donating to senators and

It entices fear, mistrust, isolation, and even pain. In my youth, I liked change. Changes were something to look forward to, it was fun to meet new individuals and an enjoyable way to see new places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the age of fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to these words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texaswould be quite similar to Toronto, but never could I fathom that this would completely change my perception of the world. These Challenges have led me to understand the different cultures between the north and south, not to believe in stereotypes, and made me adaptable. I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day north and south. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference in the two, however they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and Wichita Falls, Texas. It may sound obvious but there are geographical differences. For one, in the north we have more clear and fast rivers, and we almost always have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more fertile, so in essence we see more farms and large areas of land. Also, there is an incredible difference in population difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst the biggest
  • 31. Ian Hodder s Reading The Past W Welliver Reading the Past In Reading the Past, Ian Hodder argues that Processual, or New, Archaeology is flawed and that we must look at approaches used before its adoption and integrate parts of those approaches into the study of archaeology. He points out that Symbols in Action helped him to develop three ideas regarding how to do this. First, we must consider that material culture has meaning. Second, that the individual is important to the development of theory in archaeology; and finally that archaeology is most closely related to history and should consider that in its approach. In looking at meaning in material culture Hodder brings up how ethnographic work showed that, contrary to previous belief, interaction between cultures could actually lead to a more marked difference in their pottery styles. He also referenced burial practices and refuse buildup, and how they differ based on cultural beliefs of death and dirt, respectively. He also goes on ton argue that the material culture is not solely an adaptation to the environment, but also depended upon the culture that produces it. To attempt to properly interpret the material culture requires context. Here Hodder asks three questions concerning context: what is it, is the meaning we construct the same that was in people s ... However Processual archaeology rejected the individual and chose to look at the socio cultural system and its long term development. Ethnographic information shows this as a flawed approach. He does point out that the focus on the individual has nothing to do with the role of free will in change, but rather to add meaning to the material

It is also safe to say that cult fraternity may be violent or beneficial to the society, depending on the objectives of the members. This show is said to be based on the life of Walter O Brien, who is a producer for the show. I personally really enjoy watching the stories unfold, but the show tends to get mixed reviews overall, and while I like the show there are some things that I think could be done better. First, it is important to note that this show is produced by computer expert and alleged geniusWalter O Brien, and was created to promote his computer company. (Although, unless someone does research about the show, there is really nothing in the show to connect it to O Brien s company, so I m not entirely sure how this show actually promotes anything.) O Brien claims to have the fourth highest IQ in the world, and his characteron the show played by Elyes Gabel constantly references this fact throughout the show. O Brien claims that this show is based on his life experiences, so he contributes to the story, consults on technical aspects of the show as well as the plot, and generally gives his opinion on how he would solve the problems, according to his Wikipedia page. Stephen Robbins defines narcissism as being the tendency to be arrogant, have a grandiose sense of self importance, require excessive admiration, and have a sense of entitlement. (Robbins, 2009, p. 113) We have one employee who has the attitude of narcissism. He is very arrogant and thinks that he knows everything about anything. This would be fine if he actually did. However, we are an electrical company. Meaning we work very closely with electricity, which is highly dangerous if you do not know 100% what you are doing. It makes it very difficult to work with someone like this. They make their co workers feel belittled and they are less effective at the job. Introduction Since1970, Muirshiel Country Park has been part of Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park which is situated in the River Calder Valley north of Lochwinnoch. The park is an area of general natural beauty with beautiful landscapes and great scenic views but people are allowed to live and work within the area. It may look remote but it has a purpose for human activity, as in the past the land has been used as a farm situated close to the current entrance, for field sports such as grouse shooting and more recently for barytes mining. The mine closed in 1969, just before the opening of the country park. (Clyde Muirshiel Park Authority [CMPA from now on], n.d.) The current use of the park is mainly recreational, with a small network of footpaths for walkers, cyclists, and educational groups. Other land uses include forestry, field sports, and small scale agriculture. For this assignment we are imagining that a gold bearing ore outcrops on Windy Hill just to the north of the country park. The vein extends below the hill summit to an unknown depth and can be traced horizontally across the landscape for at least a kilometre on either side of Windy Hill. The scope of this assignment is to identify and evaluate the environmental impacts of building a gold mining site in this area and how this might affect the local geology, landscape, ecology, hydrology, and overall biodiversity. 2. Some children face different options and consequences when wanting a toy from the opposite gender section. Occasionally, you will see in the headlines of a newspaper saying how progressive a mother is because she allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys that are aimed towards boys are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that are aimed towards them are associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities are so recognized and known that I have decided to do an essay on them to see what is alike and what is different in the areas of the toys. I decided to follow two families for this analysis. These two families both come from a Mexican culture. In household X, the family is both Mexican and American. In household Y, the family comes from a strict Mexican culture. In response to my analysis, based on what I have seen in both of the households I visited, I feel as though the children should choose what matters to them in relevance to the fun. Allowing the children to have a variety of toys opens up different skills. Different toys bring different challenges. Parents should not restrict their children to strong gender toys, as though it could not help them develop physically, academically, artistically, cognitively, and musically. Written and composed by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse, the musical fictionalizes the real life induction of rock and roll idol Elvis Presley through the character of Conrad Birdie into the United States Army. One important element of the musical s plot is the excitement of a group of teenagers in a small Ohio town when they learn of the arrival of a rock star and the prospect of one lucky girl getting a final good bye kiss. The version of Bye Bye Birdie that was reviewed for this analysis was an August 2017 stage production by Gulfport Little Theatre. Like the original production of the musical, the Gulfport Little Theater production stayed truthful to biographical details of Elvis s life and all actors were highly professional in their representation of individual characters; however, unlike the original production, the set was reduced to an absolute minimum which was clearly noticeable to the audience. Both productions of the musical have identical plots and scene sequences. These may seem self explanatory; however, it is noteworthy that directors often take artistic liberties in interpreting plays or musicals, especially when they may appear dated to contemporary audiences. This, however, was not the case in the 2017 production of Bye Bye Birdie because it stuck strictly to script; so much so, that actors could have been exchanged across plays without any
  • 38. The Construct Of Narcissism And Its Origins Of Modern... The construct of narcissism finds its origins in ancient Greece and Ovid s Metamorphoses, with the proud and vain figure of Narcissus, cursed by the goddess, Nemesis, to fall in love with his own reflection. However, conceptualizations of pathological narcissism did not became a part of psychological theory until the late nineteenth century with Freud s eminent essay: On Narcissism(Ronningstam, 2005). As Freud theorized on narcissism and, ironically, experimented with cocaine, the formal diagnosis of addiction was precipitously incorporated into the medical literature in response to increasing uncontrolled narcotic use and growing public health concern (Markel, 2012). Perhaps predictably, theorizing on the possible association between narcissism and addiction, particularly in the psychoanalytic tradition, has been addressed by theorists since. The term narcissistic personality disorder(NPD) was first introduced by Heinz Kohut in 1968, and saw inclusion in formal diagnostic literature in 1980 as a part of the significant revisions to personality disorders in the third edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM; American Psychiatric Association, 1980). However, despite the theoretical history hypothesizing a relationship between narcissistic personality and addictive disorders, empirical research supporting this relationship is limited and largely inconsistent. Adding to the lack of research defining the proposed association between narcissism

Within each of these stories, the main characters are not African born, yet they all find a form of fulfillment in a place considered so remote to many. The role of Africawithin Migrations of the Heart, The Lower River, and The Snows of Kilimanjarois pivotal in the role of realizing one s self. In Marita Golden s Migrations of the Heart, Africa is presented as a long lost home, yet when Marita, the protagonist, attempts to integrate closely with its culture, she ultimately achieves self understanding rather than assimilation. Although she was raised in America, Marita quickly falls in love with Femi, but more so with his ties to Nigeria: Tell me everything about Nigeria. Then tell me everything about you (Golden, 50). Marita and Femi share a love together for many years, and they even progress to getting married and having a child, but for various reasons, their relationship sours. Perhaps partially because Marita s love for Femi was founded on a romanticized idea of Africa, an image which eventually spoils in the face of tribalism, corruption, and ignorance (Golden, 182). In the end, instead of the classic ?getting the girl? scenario so common in Hollywood, Spade simply turns her over the authorities, condemning her to prison and possibly even death. There are rarely happy endings in film noirs, especially with characters such as these. The other most noted character to be birthed from noir is that of the femme fatale, or spider woman. She is often extremely sexual, and tries to control men (often the private eye/anti hero) to do their bidding [2]. In 1944?s Double Indemnity, Barbara Stanwyck plays Phyllis Dietrichson the wife of a wealthy man with a hefty life insurance policy. Throughout the film she coerces and manipulates the film?s main character, an insurance salesman named Walter Neff (played by Fred MacMurray) into carrying out the murder and disposal of her husband to gain the money from his life insurance policy [3]. However, she only wants to kill him in the end to have the money to herself?but alas this is film noir and the film ends
  • 45. Supportive Treatment Treatment While the scientific community has known about the existence of coronaviruses for decades, there remain no licensed or approved therapies used in their specific treatment, nor vaccines to work as a preventive measure. As such, supportive treatment remains the most effective treatment measure for those patients affected. Supportive treatment involves the management of the symptoms of the disease, particularly with relation to pneumonia and respiratory tract infections associated with it. This includes various approaches such as respiratory and circulatory support, oxygenation, and preservation of the patient s renal, hepatic and neurological functions, working to prevent opportunistic infections, hydration, and the use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To date, there are no clinical trials involving humans for virus specific therapies for MERS CoV infection. Data regarding ribavirin, interferon and convalescent plasma are limited. Other medications, such as mycophenolic acid, chloroquine, chlorpromazine, loperamide, and lopinavir, have shown an inhibitory effect on MERS CoV replication in vitro; however, in the absence of clinical data, these drugs are not recommended for clinical use outside clinical trials, (Alsolamy Arabi, 2015). Certain treatments may even lead to the worsening of patient conditions such as leading to ICU admissions, mortality or increased viral loads, which makes further research into the treatment of the disease quite critical (Modjarrad, 2016). While supportive treatments remain the main form of therapy, further research is continuing into the use of antiviral therapy particularly in severely ill patients. This involves investment and funding directed towards drug development, as few drugs currently exist for MERS CoV. However, as (Modjarrad, 2016) notes, the outbreak of the Ebola virus served to accelerate research and development in the area. This remains in its novel phases as companies seek to either repurpose existing drugs or create new ones for use. As part of the research, small interfering RNA molecules and peptide inhibitors are being investigated for their ability to disrupt
  • 46. Sleeping Vs Cosleeping The first year of infancy is always a debate on benefits or risks of sleeping solitary versus cosleeping, and bed sharing. The present longitudinal study attempted to shed further light on linkages between sleep arrangement use across the first year postpartum, infant parent sleep, and family functioning, in a central Pennsylvania sample (Crosby, Kim, Shimizu, Titi, 2016). Unlike previous studies, this present study examines linkages between infantsleep arrangements, sleep quality, and family functioning across five different age points in an infant s first year of life. They also captured the fluidity of different patterns for sleep arrangements (e.g., consistent solitary sleep, early cosleeping that switched to solitary sleep by 6 months).... At the end of the study, the author s state that the mother s filled out an infant sleep diary every morning across the full week of observations. This would have been helpful to know in the procedure section of the article. The present study lacked evidence in the design and measures. They were insufficient to address issues of causality. Marital and family stress were first measured at the end of the infant s first month leaving them unaware of parenting and family dynamics that may have unfolded during the infants first month and what impact that may have had on the sleep arrangement choices, parents perceptions of martial adjustment, and co parenting. More sensitive and time intensive approaches beginning during the infants first few weeks of life may better address the design. Overall, the study was very interesting. The authors , studying family studies and human development, really explained their reasoning on doing this research. They were able to find answers to all their hypothesis but the study still requires for research. It is nice to find some answers on a major debate if it is good for you to allow your baby to cosleep with you and knowing all the
  • 47. Virtue Theories And Non-Moral Consequences This week I learned about several different moral theories, non consequentialist theories, consequentialist theories, and virtue theories. A nonconsequentialist theory states that moral actions are determined by more than just their non moral consequences, while the consequentialist theory states that moral actions are determined by only their non moral consequences. The first theory we learned about was Ethical Egoism, it is the claim that a morally right action is one that produces more good and fewer bad consequences for oneself than any other action. The next theory that was discussed was Utilitarianism, it is the claim that a morally right action is one that produces more good and fewer bad consequences for everyone than any other action.
  • 48. Loss Of Love By The Dystopian Novel Of The Brief And... People say you don t know what you ve got until it s gone. Truth is, you knew what you had, you just never thought you d lose it. Anonymous . In other words, what the quote means is that people know what they have, but they just don t have it in mind that they will lose it someday. Many people out there often do not realize that they can lose someone so close to them as that special someone will forever exist. Without any loss, there is no love. If people do not care to loose someone there was never love to begin with. In the dystopian novel of The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil, the theme is loss of love. Loss of love is both demonstrated in the novel and as well it is presented in the real world. Loss of love occurs in The Brief... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other words, Saunders believes that out of nowhere the Inner Horner land just shrunk and only three quarters of Elmer were left and they were no longer in their Inner Horner residence. Whereas, in real life, Undocumented Immigrants are losing their homes not only their homes, but their jobs and family members. The president of the United States Donald Trump is trying to get rid of all undocumented immigrants and leave them with nothing. According to Chris Sommerfeldt, Romulo Avelica Gonzalez, a 48 year old Mexican immigrant who has lived and worked in the country for over 25 years, was pulled over by agents a few blocks from his 12 year old daughter s school in Pasadena (N.p). In making this comment, Sommerfeldt argues that a working father who has been living in the United States was pulled over by an agent in front of his daughter taking him away from her. Undocumented immigrants are losing everything without any warning it is happening out of nowhere, just like Inner Horner s they lost their home without any warning. Hansen Natural Corporation (HNC) is another strong competitor. They produce and manufacture a wide variety of non alcoholic beverages in the U.S. However they are known for their energy drink: Monster, which we see as one of the most promising new energy drink brands. Recently HNC have benefited from distribution agreements. For example: Anheuser Busch wholesalers distributed the brand to retailers in different territories in the US in 2007. They also distribute to on premise retailers. This includes bars, nightclubs and restaurants in territories selected by Hansen Natural Cooperation. Furthermore, Monster Energy focuses on a specific age group. They focus on gamers, Extreme Sports enthusiasts and the hip hip crowd. This enables them a huge market, mostly with the gaming community. The last prominent competitor is Rockstar Inc. Rockstar was introduced in 2001 and is distributed by the Coca Cola Company.
