Essay On Success
Crafting an essay on the theme of success is a task that requires a delicate balance between
personal reflection, research, and the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. Success is a
multifaceted concept, encompassing various dimensions such as personal achievements, career
advancements, and fulfillment in different aspects of life. As the writer, you need to navigate
through these intricacies, offering a nuanced perspective that goes beyond clichГ©s.
One of the challenges lies in defining success, as it can mean different things to different people.
Consequently, finding a universal definition or approach becomes a tricky endeavor.
Additionally, weaving together a narrative that engages the reader while presenting a coherent
argument demands a careful selection of anecdotes, examples, and supporting evidence.
Moreover, maintaining a balance between objectivity and subjectivity can be challenging. While
personal experiences and insights bring authenticity to the essay, grounding your arguments in
research and broader perspectives is equally important. This balance ensures that your essay
appeals to a wider audience and is not limited to your individual viewpoint.
The structure of the essay poses another set of challenges. Ensuring a smooth flow of ideas,
transitioning between paragraphs seamlessly, and adhering to the prescribed word count requires
meticulous planning and editing. Each section should contribute to the overall coherence and
persuasiveness of the essay.
Furthermore, avoiding clichГ©s and providing fresh insights on the topic is imperative. Success
is a well-trodden subject, and standing out requires a unique perspective or an innovative take
on the theme. Originality is key to capturing the reader's attention and making a lasting
impression.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of success demands a thoughtful approach, blending
personal reflection with research, maintaining a balance between subjectivity and objectivity, and
presenting ideas in a structured and engaging manner. It is a challenge that requires creativity,
critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding the concept of
success.

How Did David Hume The Improbability Of Miracles
The 18th century philosopher David Hume claimed that there had never been credible
testimony offered by anyone claiming they witnessed a miracle. Hume s argument
regarding the improbability of miracles is fallacious. In An Enquiry Concerning
Human Understanding (1748), Hume attempts to fortify his stance but uses a
cartesian circle, and thereby does not wholly prove against the existence of miracles.
David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist, who is
best known today for his highly influential system of philosophical empiricism,
skepticism, and naturalism. Hume s resistance to the teleological contention for God
s presence, the contention from design, is for the most part viewed as the most
intellectual endeavor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His argument begins with the view that a wise person always believes what is most
probable. A wise man, therefore, proportions his belief to the evidence (Hume 106).
Hume asserts that it is more plausible that the testimony is false than the possibility
of a miracle happening. He says that experience is the only guide in reasoning
concerning matters of fact (105). He likewise contends that miracles exist primarily
among the ignorant. It forms strong presumption against all supernatural and
miraculous relations that they are observed chiefly to abound among ignorant and
barbarous nations. He goes further with the idea that if someone testifies about a
miracle, they received them from ignorant and barbarous ancestors... Further, the
advantages are so great of starting an imposture among ignorant people that . . . it
has a much better chance for succeeding in remote countries than if the first scene
had been laid in a city renowned for arts and knowledge (126). Another argument by
Hume is that there is no testimony for [an alleged miracle] that is not opposed by an
infinite number of witnesses . . . Miracles have a self canceling nature. He sums up

Somalia Civil War Essay
Today, twenty six years after the end of the Cold War, the United States foreign
policy has shown its many flaws. Out of the copious conflicts the U.S. has found
itself involved in, many have had unsatisfactory and unexpected endings. Somalia in
1992, for example, had begun as a simple humanitarian aid mission, later ending with
nearly 150 U.S. servicemen and thousands of civilians dead in the Somali Civil War.
About a year after this turmoil, the U.S. created new policies and mandates, creating
a more organized and planned approach for later conflicts, such as Haiti. After both
diplomatic and military peacebuilding tactics failed in Somalia, the United States
must develop and uphold guidelines for when, where, and why the United States
should enter conflict, similar to how the United States handled Haiti.
Somalia s complications began just after the Cold War. With a regime backed by the
Soviet Union, dictator Siad Barre had lost his foothold over his country. After 22
years of control, the people of Somalia were fed up, and with ... Show more content

In the early years of the Civil War, President George H.W. Bush had not found much
interest in sending aid to combat chaos occurring overseas. He had ignored the call
for humanitarian aid for the majority of 1992 (Haas pp 123). This was until the
United Nations decided it would be a good idea to create an operation of aid for
Somalia. The U.S. decided to participate in this operation by sending humanitarian
aid in the form of food to combat the famine. While some had received relief, by
1992 half of the population was malnourished, hundreds of thousands had died from
starvation, most of the livestock had died, and many who had lived decided to flee
(Haas pp 123). What s worse, months after the U.S. had withdrew, reports of oil wells
and drills had come to attention, showing that the U.S. may have had more motives
in Somalia than the efforts the U.N. had
Police Accountability In Law Enforcement Essay
Title: A Unified Accountability System for All Law Enforcement
Topic:Police Accountability
Specific Purpose:The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of
centralized procedures directed by the DOJ, which ensures every law enforcement
agency and police officer have the same process for action accountability, and how the
procedures will foster lawfulness and legitimacy within the community.
I. Introduction
A. Accountability in law enforcement is an element that is vital to effective policing
across the United States. 1. It is one of the fundamental principle in our democratic
society.
2. It is the bridge to foster a relationship between the community and local law
enforcement 3. Officials need to hold agencies and officers accountable.
4. Legitimacy in law enforcement is the public s belief about an agency and their
willingness to recognize their police authority (National Institute of Justice, 1999). B.
The problems associated with the societies perceptions about local law enforcement
agencies and their actions. 1. Law enforcement legitimacy is a must for a community
to have a good relationship and officers and agencies to have accountability.
2. There is accountability at the agency level and accountability of the individual
police officer.
3. An agency is accountable for their performance in the controlling of crime and
community disorder and meeting the requirements to provide different police
services to the public.

Attending College Benefits
Front my points of view, the benefits of attending college are manifold. According
to the U.S Census bureau, a Bachelor s Degree holder earns twice as much in a
lifetime as a high school graduate . Even better, there are more job options available
to choose from, instead of having limited places in the workforce to work for owing
to the fact that we never attended college. Although, not everybody may have the
opportunity to attend college at some point, but when opportunity strikes, it can t be
thrown away. Moreover, it is important to further our education, to increase our
earnings potential, to increase our knowledge and have a better future. Besides
increasing your earnings potential, attending college and... Show more content on

It s true, this is why in a lot of TV commercials or on billboards, advertisers always
say: Want a better future... then, this college is right for you, call this number
below or visit us online now to change your life. In other words, attending college
gives society an opportunity to change lives, have a better future and change
careers. In my opinion, not a lot people will see it this way as I don t have to attend
college to have a better future, I have a good job so I m happy , but then again
more doors will be open, more opportunities and a better way to live life as long as
you attend college and get a degree. Many people choose whether or not to attend
college, not all of them didn t get the opportunity to go but some of them just
decided to throw that opportunity away and mess up their lives. For the reasons
above, there are plenty of other benefits of attending college, but in my opinion the
main are: it will increase our earning potential, our knowledge, and gives us a better
chance to have a better future. Meaning, us a society, we have to know when
opportunity strikes, we can t let it pass by because at the end of the day, we will see

The Courage of Rosa Parks
Each person must live their life as a model for others. (Rosa Parks) Rosa Parks was
tired of the way African Americans were poorly treated. She took a stand by not
obeying a demand to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus.
Because of her bold action she became a model to millions. Parks was an African
American woman who became known for her bravery, which helped to change the
nation. Parks spent most of her life fighting for desegregation, voting rights, and was
active in the civil Right Movement that has changed social code in the U.S. (Rosa
Parksfact.com). Rosa Parks is a pioneer for her brave act; her belief in equality,
justice, and advancement for African American has impacted the world.
BIOGRAPHY Rosa Parks, Rosa Louise McCauley, was born on February 4, 1913
in Tuskegee Alabama to parents Leona Edwards who was a schoolteacher and
James McCauley a carpenter. At a young age Parks parents separated and her
mother relocated with her and younger brother to Pine Level, a small town in
Montgomery. There they resided with Leona s parents on their small farm where
Parks would spend her youth. She got the privilege of being home schooled by her
mother and did not enter public school until the age of eleven. At age eleven she
enrolled in the Montgomery Industrial School for girls. Parks then continues on to a

Discussing Developmental Theorists and Their Theories of Human Development
For ease of review in discussing the developmental theorists and their theories of
human development I have subdivided each theorist into their respective schools of
psychology. These schools include the psychoanalytic school, behavioral school,
humanistic school, cognitive school, and the individual schools of psychology. Each
developmental theorist holds their own unique ideas and theories about various
components of human development. I will be discussing the contributions of each of
these theorists.
To begin with we have the psychoanalytic school of psychology. This would include
Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, and Elisabeth Kubler Ross. I will begin with ... Show

He also concluded that the sexual drive was the most powerful shaper of a person
s psychology, and that sexuality was present even in infants. He presented what is
now a well known theory of the stages of psychosexual development. They include
the oral, anal, and phallic stages. Later, he identified two additional stages called
the latent and genital period. The phallic stages include the Oedipus Complex for
boys and the Electra Complex for girls. The Oedipus Complex states there is a
sexual attraction towards the mother and a sense of jealousy to the point of hatred
of the father. The Electra Complex states that there is a sexual attraction towards
the father and a hostile rivalry toward the mother. I find Freud s theory of the
unconscious to be relevant and useful. I think the use of the term Freudian Slip
most relevant in applying this theory. I know at times I have said things that I may
have not been consciously thinking about yet when they came out I could identify
with them. I can also agree that many unconscious memories are from childhood
events. I find this highly useful for me because I am adopted and so unlike any
members of my family. I believe my early childhood events helped to shape my
future behavior but they were very painful and I repressed them. His stress on the
importance of childhood helped to teach the value of giving children an emotionally
nourishing environment so I can definitely find

Essay on Alcoholism
Alcoholism
Alcoholism is perhaps the most common form of drug abuse in North America
today. Scientists report that the reason alcohol is so popular to people is because it
is pleasant, relaxing, and is considered a social beverage. But what individuals often
do not take in to consideration is the fact that alcohol dulls the brain and confuses
physical reactions. This can lead to numerous injuries, accidents, and death. Alcohol
affects every part of an alcoholic s life: their body, their mind and their family life.
The body has a natural chemical that gives a feeling of a natural high . It happens in
the presence of a life endangering situation. This chemical is adrenaline, which is

After alcohol reaches the brain, it numbs the frontal lobe, which has direct control
over the judgment, visual perception and decision making skills. Scientists believe
this is what makes alcoholics believe they can conquer any task put before them.
After drinking a good number of drinks everyday over a long period of time, many
things can happen. Cirrhosis of the liver can occur, which means the liver tissues
become hardened. Scientists also report that irreversible brain damage can occur
before cirrhosis of the liver is even detected. Also, cancer of the liver, mouth,
esophagus as well as lungs and pancreatic cancer often occur as a result of alcoholism
. Alcohol also has an affect on the mind as well as the body. Alcoholics often report
that they feel inferior to people and believe they can do anything. Many people
believe that alcohol acts as a social lubricant. Increased social pleasures,
assertiveness talkativeness and even happiness are all expected by many, when they
drink in these situations. Alcohol is said to reduce tension and anxiety. This in turn
allows drinkers to feel more relaxed and comfortable in social situations. However,
this also encourages the drinker to drink more when under more stress.
Alcohol has the most affect on the family. Many alcoholics do not believe this
because they think what they do has no affect on their family and friends. But often

The Assembly then put pressure on political leaders to legally recognize Aboriginal
rights. This led to Aboriginal rights being entrenched in the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms and Bill C 31 being passed in 1985. This gave Aboriginal councils the
power to choose who could live on Aboriginal reserves, which was a decision
previously made by the Department of Indian Affairs in the federal government.
People then started to argue for Aboriginal self government so that they could
manage recourses, culture, educations and their justice system. Then they could deal
with health concerns and social issues within their communities. Initially this
Assembly benefitted the First Nations peoples but distanced Aboriginals from other
Canadians. By highlighting differences in rights and governments, anger would have
erupted among Natives. They would have resented those who wouldn t allow them
their rights. On the other hand though, once they achieved some of their goals and
observed that other Canadians could give in to their reasonable demands, their
relationships with other Canadians would have improved. So, on the whole this
Assembly was effective at improving Aboriginal and Canadian relationships with its
successes and creating slight tensions with protests for

Linguistic Stereotypes Essay
Linguistic Stereotypes
Language is a method in which individuals communicate in order to get their opinion
across to the listening party. Language is the tool which ideas can be conveyed in
various ways. Typically, language is referred to verbal communication, however, it
ranges to all methods of communication i.e. sign language.
Linguistic stereotypes are an existent form of discrimination. Since, languages are
criticized and mocked due to the connection between language and cultural character.
Thus, language is significantly related to the identity of the speakers. In addition,
languages are vulnerable to criticism due to differences in cultural behavior.

Verbal languages vary in pronunciations. Since, Languages are described as being
smooth and light, while on the other hand, languages known to being rough and
abrupt. The manner in which speakers pronounce and communicate using words,
phrases and hand gesture also has a way in building the personality of the language.
Furthermore, whilst a speaker pronounces words and letters that are in the non
speaker opinion rigid and tough, an image of a solid language is created in the
observing non speaker mind. Personally, listening to Hindi dialects, I myself seem to
find it challenging to pronounce specific words, and an image of complexity forms in
my mind. During dialect comparison, we realize that pronunciation is vulnerable to
criticism and satire. Comedians during criticizing a specific group usually imitate the
dialect to refer to their identity. Thus when they criticize the language they mean it to
the group and their specialized behavior.
Linguistic discrimination is an important issue; many have been discriminated and
excluded from the public sphere due to their disability to practice the standardized
language. In the Arab world, when second language speakers try to talk Arabic, they
seem to have difficulties with the pronunciations. Consequently, this leads to
limitations during the blending in procedures. The explanation

While it is widely accepted that historical or descriptive narratives produce
knowledge, is the same true of fiction? Can fictional narratives such as novels
produce knowledge, and if so, what kind? Consider this question in relation to Ian
McEwan s novel Atonement.
It would be very difficult for anyone to find a person who stated that historical or
descriptive narratives did not produce knowledge. Can the same thing be said for the
genre of historical fiction? In an analysis between historical narratives and historical
fiction, we will see what do these two topics share, and what kinds of knowledge
does historical fiction produce. What is it about historical narratives that give
readers a sense that going into it, that they will become knowledgeable about a
certain topic? What is considered knowledge in a historical narrative? I would say
what a makes a historical narrative is that it contains facts such as dates, accounts of
events, and information about the lives of people. These types of things can be
measured through various forms of tests. (we know how much emphasis is put on
what a person can recall). As a result, a reader may say that historical narratives are
much more objective. Also, the writers of these historical novels are able to make
connections to the modern day with the readers. But aside from the obvious

Wonder Woman: The Feminist Symbol Behind The Bracelets
Wonder Woman is seen as being American, but in reality she is a Greek demigod.
The amazonian superhero battles formidable Greek deities with an arsenal of
weapons that were magically enhanced by the gods of Olympus. Those weapons
include classics such as a sword and shield, and also includes a lasso a. She possesses
superhuman abilities that were blessed to her by the gods and they included Hermes,
Aphrodite, Artemis, Hestia, and Demeter. Her amazonian origin creates powerful
symbolism for women everywhere and she provides women with strength. To truly
understand Wonder Woman you must know of her origin.
Created out of clay by her mother Hippolyta the queen of the Amazons Wonder
Woman was given life from the the gods of ancient Greece. She is arguably
immortal due to her home on the island of Themyscira. Themyscira is where she
was born; the island has been separated from the evils of man for thousands of
years. Hippolyta named her daughter Diana, after the Roman goddess of the moon
and hunt. The Amazons original purpose was to protect man s world, but they
abandoned their original purpose and chose to live in seclusion for thousands of
years. Diana disagreed with the Amazon s decision to separate from mankind and
believed that the Amazons should integrate back into man s society, but Hippolyta
believed that the Amazons have no place in man s society. However, all that changed

The Ethical Use Of Medical Marijuana
Should marijuana be available for patients to use as medical treatment for their long
term illnesses? This question is not only an ethical issue concerning the use of drugs,
but it could also be a serious legal issue considering that marijuana is illegal
according to the federal government. Many doctors have praised the merits of using
cannabisfor treatments for conditions such as Alzheimer s disease, chemotherapy and
cancer treatments, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV and AIDS, arthritis, anxiety, and
depression. While most professionals in the medical field seem to agree on the
benefits of using medicinal marijuana, there has been much division about the legal
ramifications involved in prescribing and distributing this illegal product to the

In recorded medical history, there has never been a death as a result of marijuana
use or overdose. While medical professionals agree on the benefits of marijuana
use for many serious conditions, the FDA will not step over federal law and begin
testing the medical properties of marijuana. This leads all medical marijuana
growers and dispensaries in a precarious position. While states law allows licensed
individuals to grow and distribute to patients with prescriptions, they are still
technically breaking federal drug and narcotics laws, and can be subject to arrest,
seizure of products and equipment, and fines. They can also be charged with
violating federal drug and narcotics laws that could land them in jail and, if
convicted, leave a mark on their permanent legal records. Yet even with so much
risk involved in the business, there are 984 registered dispensaries currently
operating in the United States. So one might ask, why do they risk everything to
violate federal law and sell illegal drugs? The most popular opinion is that the federal
government is wrong in outlawing the use and distribution of marijuana for medical
use and that the risk is worth the reward if sick people receive the only treatment that
can help them in their time of greatest need. Mill s harm principle states that the
government should only interfere in
The Rise Of Music In The Late 70 s And 80s
People in the late 70 s and 80 s have both happy and frustrating memories about the
cassette tape. This era of adolescents spent hours creating mix tapes to have their
favorite songs on one tape instead of having constantly switch out tapes for different
songs. This made the sharing of music more personal, important, and meaningful
because one would want the perfect tape. However, once the compact disc
commonly known as the CD released in the early 1980 s (Downes 1) people were
not aware of how it will affect this culture of mix tapes and love for music. As the
80 s ended, also did the era of the cassette. The end of this era started in 1983, where
the sales of the compact disc reached 800,000 worldwide sales, and officially ended
in 1990, where sales reached one billion sales (Downes 1). This demised caused the

music and people was being lost. The people who were born in the late 70 s lived
with tapes, both video and audio, personal radios, and saw the development of the
CD s and the mp3 file. These are the people, the teenagers, that were most affected
by the cassette disruption. These are the people who spent days, in total hours,
mixing tapes to share with others and to have for themselves. These total hours
create a long list of memories that they share to this day (Bolin 7 8). Gӧran Bolin,

The Fight For Women By Charlotte Butler
The Fight for Women
Document 23.2
The British Parliament s passing of the Contagious Disease Acts in 1866 resulted in
Josephine Butler writing a letter to the International Convention of Women in
Washington. The purpose of the act was to reduce prostitution and sexually
transmitted diseases, specifically occurring within the military forces. Butler s letter
included topics, arguments, and political issues women had to work on even though
they were not given the right to vote or engage in politics. Butler starts her letter
talking to the ladies of the Ladies National Association which was assembled in
1869, their goal is to repeal the Acts of Parliament on 1866 69. She apologizes for
her absence at the meeting but her friend Mrs. Steward was able to attend and be
the voice of Butler in the lack of her presence. Butler suggested the committee
needed to elect a delegate who had shown great work in the field and for her Mrs.
Steward was the lady for this position. She had done work not only in England but
also Belgium when English girls were being bought, stolen, and destroyed under
the State protected vice. Butler explains that there are not many of the original
women left, she says, There is now a crowd of younger workers who are bravely
preaching the purity crusade and doing excellent vigilance work; while there are few
of the veteran s left who inaugurated in 1869 the fierce contest with our Government,
the House of Lords and Commons, the Medical Boards, the Press,
Home Education Vs. Public Schools Essay
For so many decades in most countries around the world, education was offered to
children in formal areas allocated for this purpose. These areas were mainly schools
and colleges. A certain number of hours were assigned every day to the education in
which the children would leave home in the morning for schoolspend the whole day
being taught in a series of classes as well as co curricular activities. On a normal
school day, children would be taught different subjects that the school offers have
some time allocated for physical education and sports and also have breaks in
between for meals. Recently, however, homeschoolingis on the rise in most parts of
the world. For so many years this system of education was a reserve for the royals
who were not allowed to freely mingle with children of other citizens.
Homeschooling also known as home education refers to the education of the children
inside their homes as opposed to a formal setting of a private or public school. This
practice is on the rise with statistics showing that today more than two million kids
are taught at home. Although many scholars support education that is offered in
formal settings such as schools, homeschooling has been an effective alternative to a
cheaper more wholesome method of educating children. This practice has immense
positive effects on a child physically, mentally and socially with very dismal
differences in terms of a child performance when compared to education offered in

Essay on Egt1 Task 2
Supply and Demand
Elasticity of Demand
Elasticity of demand is a variation in price depending on the demand of a good or
service. Items like vehicles, appliances, jewelry, and electronics will sell less at full
price than they do when there is a drop in price. When producers and retailers drop
the price enough for the market to take notice, people react in deciding to purchase
the good or service. This reaction and sensitivity to the market is known as Elastic
demand.
Unit Elasticity of Demand applies to single units of a good or service and occurs
when a shift in price directly affects a product per unit. If the percentage of change
in quantity divided by the percentage of change in price is one.
Inelastic demand happens when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Soft drinks, although they have a limited substitution, they are considered inelastic
because no two soft drinks are chemically exactly the same and therefore true
substitutions do not exist. Product loyalty and brand recognition act as a way to
counteract substitutes. When a producer can make a consumer believe that no
substitute can rival their product, even when it has the exact same major ingredients
and manufacturing process, they have created an inelastic situation and loyal
customer who will make sacrifices and pay more for the brand named product.
Product loyalty is why Coca cola drinkers do not drink Pepsi and why 7 up drinkers
do not drink Sprite. While there may be a fluctuation week to week on prices, the
fluctuation is not large enough for the consumer to consider substitutions.
An example of where substitutions readily exist and can affect the elasticity of the
market is laundry soap. There are more than 40 laundry soaps on the market. If
there is a fluctuation in price where the purchaser feels their normal brand is getting
too expensive or not available, they would be more apt to choosing another brand as
basically all laundry soap has the same major ingredients, performs the same
function, and seen as an easy choice when the price difference can mean a number of
Bill Withers Use Me Up
Bill Withers Use me up is a pulsating, soulful song which conjures up images of
tragic, tainted relationships doomed to miserably fail. Abuse prevails throughout the
song and despair glooms in the drumbeat; his lyrics talks about, embarrassment,
disrespect and above all a masochistic, dangerous type of love.
I find myself humming it from time to time when I least expect. Usually I m on a
downer, feeling sorry for myself mostly or thinking about something I said or done
with deep regret of some sort. Subsequently, as I get older I find I m more emotive
when I listen to music associated with my youth as oppose to just listening to the
drumbeat, guitar riff and more importantly; the voice. I m more driven by how the

self destructive blind spot. Of course I still think about R S, my last job where

So in the meantime, with Christmas close approaching, I m going to pop my

It is evident that many students greatly rely on these sites in order to interact with
their friends and other people whether they know them or not. Being dependent to
these sites promotes online friendships which are not good since they might
encounter people that are suspicious in behavior. These sites hinder face to face
friendship but many students reason out that they use SNS in order to communicate
conveniently with their faraway friends. What do these SNS possess to make the
students keep on using them? Why do students upload photos, videos, post comments
/messages on other profiles and play social games? What are the benefits and
purpose of doing these activities? Why are social networking sites frequently used by
students nowadays? The researcher goal is to address these questions and have an in
depth study with regards to those questions stated above. Students usage of social
networking sites provides long lasting insights to identity construction, social
behavior and peer to peer interaction therefore studies such as this arises that found

Chapter 10 Of Soul Feast
After reading chapter 10 of Soul Feast, I thought to myself what could be my rule
of life? Where do I need support in my daily walk with Christ? What is it in my life
that needs work and could be spiritually damaging, if not dealt with? Where do I
need to be held accountable? After asking myself these series of questions, it is
almost as if God spoke aloud to me. You are very Judge mental it is ugly and not of
God. I said well there it is. The practice that works well for me, is the practicing
Silence. I love this, I find that God can deal with me better in silence. I can hear
what God is saying and what God wants me to do. In my life s journey, I find that
practicing silence is what got me where God wants me to be. In doing this God
pours directly in to me, his divine plan. There was a time when I needed to know
what God wants me to do. How do you want me to serve you, because that is all
that I want to do. Spiritual formation teaches you to get closer to God. Learning
theses disciplines taught me to find a way to get closer to him, so that I can
operate in my salvation better. Meaning if you know what Gods plan is for you
because your close to him, you can be more obedient to his principle and precepts.
If you study his word and meditate on it daily, you can walk up right before God.
Now understand this doesn t mean you won t fall it means you may fall less.
Practicing silence is something that I will do for the rest of my life. This is a good

bottled water case Essay
Bottled Water Case: Industrial Evolution
1. Describe the bottled water industry as presented in the case
a. Size in sales: In 2001, bottled water was among the world s most attractive
beverage categories, with global sales exceeding 32 billion gallons and annual
growth averaging nearly 9 percent between 1996 and 2001.
b. Projected growth: U.S. per capita consumption had grown to nearly 20 gallons a
year by 2001 and was expected to grow to 26 gallons a year by 2005
c. Number of Competitors: Both the global and U.S. bottled water markets had

Bottled water consumption and sales have been increasing exponentially since its
emergence as a widely accepted commercial beverage category. The bottled water
industry is now growing at 8% to 10% annually about twice as fast as other
beverages. In fact, in 2003 bottled water became the second largest commercial
beverage category by volume in the United States, surpassing milk, coffee, beer, and
is now second only to carbonated soft drinks.
d. Demographics (what is the industry s focus customer) Another significant trend is
product marketing and packaging. Realizing that consumers cite taste, quality, and
purity as the top reasons for drinking bottled water, bottlers market and design bottles
to display their purity. Other manufacturers seek to carve out a new level in the
bottled water industry introducing high end products. Another packaging trend in the
bottled water industry is multi packs. As current bottled water consumption grows,
more consumers are turning to multi packs to save time and money.
e. Governmental rule (tightly restricted, loose enough to give industry room to grow

standards of both the EPA and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Like
all food and beverage products sold in the United States, bottled water was subject to
such food safety and labeling requirements as nutritional labeling provisions and

There is something alluring about traditions. No matter how far away from home
one gets, they will always cherish the manner in which things are done back at
home. They retain even the slightest things that will help them hold on to the past
or the way of life that they have left behind. They will cook or serve food in a
certain way because it is their sentimental way of remaining attached what they were
familiar with. This is also the case with my choice of music. I came to study in United
States a while back and I have come to pick up a few things about the way people
do things but I am yet to let go of my old ways. I have come to learn and accept the

I made sure to arrive a little bit late so that I could just walk in and settle down after
the arrival of the performing bands without having to sit through the music
department s opening speech. I came in just in time for the commencement of the
first piece. I sat and stared at the front at this lady who was doing a solo
performance. I could already tell that the night was only going to pick up from this
point. With her eyes closed and her head swaying with every stroke her hand made,
all the people wanted to do was look at her and share the same calmness that she
portrayed. It was as if the world had shut down leaving her to enjoy the calm state. I
envied how she could just forget the world even for a second and relish in the world
she had created. She was just a tip of the amazing things that the night had in store.
Two flute choirs down the line and I was listening to Celtic music. The traditional

Criterion Referenced Tests CRT Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced
Tests NRT The assessment looks at the wide variety of methods that educators use to
evaluate and determined the achievement of the student s educational need. The
focus of this essay is to look at the Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT) and the Norm
Referenced Tests (NRT) usage to see why the Criterion Referenced Tests should be
used rather than the Norm Referenced Tests. The learningstandards and the
curriculum will be discussed to help determine why the CRT should be used rather
than the NRT. Also, we will take a look at the principal use of how the two methods
differ by one using survey testing and the other mastery testing. I will give my
informed opinion throughout the essay. The Criterion Referenced Tests measure the
performance against a fix set of predetermined learning standards. This means that
there will be written descriptions of what students are expected to know and are able
to do in each learning outcome unit stage in the course. This method of assessment is
done to evaluate what skills the student has learned. The learning standards will
measure how well a student has mastered the specific skill described in the national
learning standards (Waugh Gronlund, 2013). Since the teachers and the schools can
develop their own learning standards, this will help the students to be able to
accomplish the learning objective performance outcome expected in my opinion. The

bother to argue with her mother as she knew she is a disappointment in her mother

you. Aviva followed her mother back into her room. She sat down across her
mother. There was a silence. Cersei just stared at her then stirred in the chair which
Aviva knew it s not good news. It was never a good news whenever her mother
wishes to speak her in private. Mmm. Aviva. My poor and unlucky bastard. Aviva
rolled her eyes as she was annoyed with her mother, I don t have time to sit here all
day. Cut to point. Aviva Waters! This is no way a lady to speak to your Mother.
You better to keep your mouth shut if I am to marry you to Saelyr Pyke. You re
marrying me to another bastard. choked Aviva as she learned the fact that she will
never gain the power of respect from the people. It s either Pyke Bastard or a

Maybe she will finally escape her mother s stronghold and gain more independence in

Aria Research Paper
An aria meant any expressive melody, usually performed by a singer. It is typically
featured in opera, but also in oratorios and cantatas. The word aria comes from the
Greek and Latin aer (air).
Late 17th century:
From simple melodies, arias evolved into structured forms. The differentiation
between recitative and aria is formed. The recitative is more speech like, telling the
story while the aria is sung, melodically expressing emotional reaction to happenings
of the story. The aria became a chance for singers to show their vocal skills.
There were mainly two forms of arias binary form arias (A B) and arias in ternary
form (A B A). In ternary form arias, the B section is usually in a different key such
as the dominant or relative major. Other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The French ariette(usually a relatively simple ternary form) was formed as French
opera became strongly influenced by the Italian style.
In Opera seria, the setting of arias to the different roles were highly structured and
set. Whereas in opera buffa (comic opera), arias were often specific to the nature of
the character being portrayed.
As such formats settled, a German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck believed
that both opera styles had become unnatural and lost their original form. Opera
buffa were made up of too many stereotypical characters and bad jokes while opera
seria contained too much superficial vocal effects and boring plots. In opera buffa,
the vocal lines were often decorated so much so that the original tune could no
longer be recognised. Therefore, Gluck aimed to bring back the original focus of
opera which was on drama in humanity, passions and the equal value of music and
text. The later works of Mozart can be seen to be affected by these ideals, where
arias develop far more on characters emotions and enriching the telling of the story.

The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples
Evidence to Convict Innocent People
Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples
that are about as reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law
enforcement, it allows defense attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes.
Introduction
When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last
person in class have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the
investigative process. Police misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin
the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be changed to prevent the
latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a
person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin
with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which
contains an articulate eyewitness testimony.
Police Initiated
Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the
police focus on one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel
vision usually obtains biases and the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty
labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing evidence to fill in holes. They also
contain police misconduct by the use of snitches (con game), accomplices (turning in
of a partner for a lighter sentence), and coerced confessions. Witness Initiated
Witness initiated convictions are usually for
Death By Neil Degrasse Tyson Analysis
By reading the book Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, one can
deduce that the author, Neil deGrasse Tyson, is man of intelligence with a love for
the ways of the universe. He clearly has a passion for what he does, as he immerses
himself in his personal interests by giving public lectures about the cosmos (346).
He values his personal interest so much that he has solved how long it would take
to cook a 16 inch pepperoni pizza on Venus; the answer is seven seconds (80).
Tyson obviously has a strong enthusiasm for what he does as an astrophysicist and
has spent many years in this field. Throughout the book, he explains concepts in
ways that the reader is able to understand and relate to. He uses simple topics to help
explain our complex universe. For example, he introduces the idea of a constant and

The reader learns more about Tyson through the chapter Holy Wars, in which he
explains his beliefs on God and religion. While the author does not indicate that he is
an atheist, the reader is drawn to the conclusion that he does not believe in God. He
states that if the Bible had ever been shown to be a rich source of scientific answers
and understanding, [scientists] would be mining it daily for cosmic discovery (352).
This statement evidently states that the Bible holds no valuable information with
regards to the universal laws and ideas. On the last page of the book, Tyson further
emphasizes that one cannot put complete faith in a higher being by stating that [God]
does not want students who could make the next major breakthrough in renewable
energy sources or space travel to have been taught that anything they do not
understand, and that nobody yet understands, is divinely constructed and therefore
beyond intellectual capability
Naval Academy Observation Report
Life at the Academy especially the first year is tough. There are days the
midshipmen will love it and other days when they hate it. Eventually I understand
that the loves out weigh the hates, however, in the beginning, during plebe year, it
may feel overwhelming to many of them. As a lot of Naval Academy graduates say
about the Naval Academy, It s a good place to be from, but not a good place to be.
Concerning that, there were some regulations that I only discovered with further
observation. For example, at all formal meals, plebes only use the front three or four
inches of their chairs, sitting at attention, with the exception of chair in the academic
buildings and plebe/Fourth Class dorms. Also when walking down corridors they can
only use the center alley and chop (quick step with high knees) with eyes in the...

Also when eating at King Hall, they must not speak unless addressed by an
upperclassman. If a plebe needs to speak, he must first extend a fist (known as
putting out the paw ) for permission to speak. Alas, for the plebes, those are only
the rules which apply in King Hall. There are also many other rules they struggle
with on the entire academy. Directly before a formal meal, during their formation
outside of Bancroft, the midshipmen must recite the menu, whether it is breakfast,
lunch or dinner. When plebes are asked, How long have you been in the Navy,
they must answer, All me blooming life, sir! Me mother was a mermaid, me father
was King Neptune. When plebes are asked, How s the cow, they must answer, Sir,
she walks, she talks, she s full of chalk. Although these myriad of disjointed
memorizations, ludicrous tasks and perpetual Panic mode as a plebe may seem to
have very little to do with the profession of arms, the sole purpose of the regulations
is to make them into better officers as a whole. In the real world, these traditions
encourage the quick execution of orders, discipline, knowledge of your environment,
and respect

Hydropower North Carolina
Hydropower is a critical need to North Carolina s energy sources, but how it s
created is what counts. For hydropower, water needs to have a strong current,
preferably downwards. Without this there would be no impact on the object that
needs to be operated. Therefore, pressure must be applied. Pressure is applied when
a high amount of water pulled down by gravity makes an impact, which can turn
machines like water wheels and other energybuilt machines.
A more advanced version of hydropower is hydroelectric power. It is the electricity
created by water. For example, when the waterwheel receives water pressure, it begins
to turn. Connected to a motor, the wheel begins to generate energy. Eventually, the
power is dished out and distributed
Analysis Of A Walk In The Woods
Bill Bryson is the author and the main character of the novel A Walk in The
Woods. Bryson came from Britain over twenty years ago. He brought along his
friend Katz to reflect and reacquaint his discovery on a 2,100 mile of the
Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail stretches from the two states of Georgia
to Maine. They will be discussing their hilarious jokes that were witnessed in this
novel. Here are few examples: Bryson said he wanted to use the bathroom in the
woods, Mary Ellen was the controlling and impatient camper they met, and what
Mary Ellen called and did for Bryson and Katz while on the trail. Bill Brysonand his
friend Katz are determined to experience the Appalachian Trail, which creates
amusing stories.
First, Bill himself is hilarious. For example, the reader writes this quote: I wanted
a little of that swagger that comes with being able to gaze at a far horizon through
eyes of chipped granite and say with a slow, manly sniff, Yeah, I ve shit in woods.
(Bryson 4) Bill Bryson said that because the restrooms on the trail were disgusting
and completely appalling to go into. He probably meant that they were all taken by
other camper and that he couldn t wait so he decided to use the restroom in the
woods. Or he wanted to go in the restroom in the woods to prove a point to show
other campers and animals that the woods are just nature.
Second, Mary Ellen is one example of amusing by this quote in the novel: When s
your birthday? she said to me.
William Wallace s Speech In Braveheart
In the movie Braveheart, William Wallace, played by Mel Gibson, gives one of
the greatest speeches known to man. Wallace is the leader of the Scottish warriors,
who are at war with England. This speech was very persuasive and effective in
preparing his troops for battle. Many of his troops did not even believe it was him;
William Wallacehad become more of a myth than a man. This will just show the
audience how influential this man and his speech was. Wallace s speech to the
Scottish warriors is persuasive and effective because he keeps his soldiers from
retreating and gives them courage by inspiring the soldiers to value their freedom.

He had fought and won many battles for the freedom of Scotland and obviously knew
what it meant to fight for his freedom. He was a legend in Scotland and was more
of a myth than a man in many people s eyes. In the beginning of the speech, a
young soldier is interrupts Wallace in saying that William Wallace is 7 feet tall.
Wallace sarcastically remarks back, Yes, I ve heard. Kills men by the hundreds,
and if he were here he d consume the English with fireballs from his eyes and bolts
of lightning from his arse (Gibson). This statement proves that William was
immortalized in the eyes of the Scottish through the mere fact that they thought all
of these impossible things about him. This recognition and immortalization of
Wallace caused extreme loyalty and admiration for him as a person and his cause.
Therefor, Wallace was credible enough that people would listen to him and take his
speech seriously. No one had lost more by the hands of the English than Wallace
himself. He had lost his father, his wife, and the lives of many of his fellow brothers
of Scotland through this war. If anyone had a reason to fight it would be
Doctor Assisted Suicide Persuasive Essay

You wouldn t want to live a life like that so a doctor could assist you to finally being
in peace with assisted suicide. Lastly, Giving someone peace in death also shows
compassion and you are helping them and doing the right thing. By helping them
you are giving them what they want as this is what they wish for. If you let them
suffer you are not showing any compassion and you as a human being should be
show compassion to those loved ones who are suffering each and everyday.
It would be better to just rest in peace and definitely wouldn t have anymore pain.
You might say and think why would a doctor kill someone that is wrong? Now a
doctor doesn t kill them they help them find peace and not feel pain and suffering
anymore. It s not fair to have to live such a stressful life and to watch your family
suffer also. A doctor is not there to kill people they is there to assist them because
the person suffering is giving the doctor consent. Killing is not assisting it is wrong
so a doctor doesn t kill the doctor has permission from the person suffering. The
doctors just allow the person s freedom to choose whether they want to live or have
peace in death and die when they choose
Debt Driven Economy
Not only is humanity continuously following a natural cycle on a grand time scale,
but also smaller aspects of everyday lives follow a similar pattern. This poem relates
the the cyclical nature of single human life to the cyclical nature of the economy.
This poem demonstrates how the progression of life follows a pattern and how a
smaller aspect, the economy, also follows a patterns that can relate to each other.
Life A Debt Driven Economy
As you get older, you come to understand the economics of age.
You go through a cycle you see.
When you were new , you had energy,
You developed, a state of Growth.
You reached your prime,
Your life was booming, a state of Prosperity.
You were young
But eventually as time goes by,
Your hair begins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This poem relates the cyclical nature of our economy to each individual life
coming full circle. Throughout history, the economy booms and times become
prosperous, such as the Roaring 20 s. However, the economy can go bust and ruin
lives, such as the Great Depression, just as quickly. This illustrates how the loop of
the economy and a human s life are related. This also shows that the balance in this
universe cannot be broken or changed. This poem describes being young and
having energy, which would be considered the upward swing of your life and the
times of a developing economy. Then there is a state of prosperity where one
reaches their prime, which would be being at the top of the circular swing and
when the economy is booming. And then begins the process of having less energy,
not being as prosperous, start of aging; all of which would be considered the
downward swing and the economy going bust. And ultimately, death is the lowest
point of the swing. This whole cycle then begins all again, but with another life this
time. It is not surprising that if the timeline of humanity, then certain aspects such
as the economy also follow the circular pattern too. This theme is a double edged
sword. While it is comforting to know that rough times will not last forever and
humanity will pull itself up, it is also depressing to know nothing good in life will
always stay the same, it will eventually all burn down for it to be rebuilt

Knowledge, Obedience and the Physical World
What once may have been considered as knowledge can be replaced, or even
discarded, due to new evidence. This phenomenon raises knowledge questions since
what was once believed may utterly change with time, and therefore have an impact
on humanity. Two areas of knowledge that can show that knowledge that was one
accepted can be discarded afterwards, or that it may be replaced by different
movements and approaches, are in my opinion Psychologyas a human scienceand
Physicsas a natural science. Knowledge can be reviewed, and, a different perspective
might be acquired where we consider progress, according to which facts may become
re evaluated.
In the area of Psychology, many experimental researches have been carried out to
support various theories regarding human behavior, but there are some that are
very well known due to information they have provided and the impact they had
upon human lives. In my psychology class, we learned that one of the most
famous psychological experiments was the one conducted by Stanley Milgram in
his 1963, testing obedience, in which he requested for volunteers, some of whom
would be teachers and some learners. The job of the teacher, who was in a separate
room from the learner, was to read a pair of words to the learners that they had to
memorize, and in the recall, if they provided any wrong answer, the teacher would
apply electric shocks to the learner, not knowing that the learner would not actually
be given shocks but would act as if he was
Essay On Identity
Identity not only helped me define who I am, but the concept of identity helped
me construct my perception of myself. Confidence is a trait I sometimes lacked
throughout my lifetime. Confidence is hard to acquire living in such a
competitive, evolving world. Everything in life is a competition. My grades,
personality, and confidence all contribute to who I am. Personally, for me, it is
hard to feel comfortable in every social setting. I tend to be shy and nervous when
I am around new people; however, a time in my life I feel most comfortable is
now! I am a transfer student from Fairfield University, halfway through my junior
year at Marist College, and I have never felt so motivated and pleased where my life
is at the moment. I enjoy my friend... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was at Fairfield University I did not fit in with the in crowd. Everything
mattered at Fairfield, especially physical appearance, which I found ridiculous. People
were very judgmental and unwelcoming. The environment around me affected my self
confidence significantly, in a negative way. Therefore, I felt trapped and alone. I
almost felt like I was suffocating and there was no way to escape this horrifying
nightmare. One specific example I had at Fairfield University contributed to my
self esteem immensely. The friend group I made decided not to be friends with me
anymore because my ex boyfriends new girlfriend did not like my presence when I
was around. Basically, she made my life a living hell, and my so called best
friends did not even look me in the face when I walked by. That is when I knew it
was time for a major change in my life. After this experience I learned a lot about
myself. For example, I was discouraged by this particular situation; however, this
experience made me realize how strong and independent I am. Attending Fairfield
University was not a mistake, it was a life lesson that made me learn new qualities
about myself, and helped shape not only my identity, but my life into something great

The Rebellion Of The Jamaica
On October 11, 1865, Paul Bogle and a group of free blacks marched into Morant
Bay protesting a local trail, which resulted in a full scale uprising that caused deaths
and destruction. Free blacks had economic troubles and little to power in colonial
society because of their limited access to resources. By July 8, 1865, the Jamaica
Guardian captured the people s discontent with Governor Edward John Eyre, who
served as British official on the island. In this message of discontent, the people
call for his removal because of his weak, vacillating, and undignified character and
conduct. The people became quite discontent with the British official because of
his actions regarding the Morant Bay Rebellion. He responded to the rebellion with
force and violence by declaring martial law in Surrey County and accused George
William Gordon, a free black businessman, of being part of the rebellion that led to
death. This whirlwind of events caused many to question Eyre s leadership and led to
the establishment of the Jamaica Committee, a group of men from England. This
group wanted to imprison the governor for his actions, but their actions led to his
removal from office.
This event created much havoc and chaos in England and Jamaica because it
disturbed the British masses, which questioned the effectiveness of colonial rule after
the Sepoy Munity of 1857. The cases received a large amount of political and public
attention because two schools of thought existed in the debate. One
Summary Of Desire By Richard Rodriguez
In today s society, the words education and a better life fit hand and hand with the
other. The desire to create a higher quality lifestyle and the thirst for knowledge is a
recurring theme in The Achievement of Desire. Much like Richard Rodriguez, my
parents were not native to America and therefore, learning a new language and
adapting to the culture was an indefinite struggle. Growing up, many Americans
perceived my family and I as too Chinese and in the eyes of the Chinese, I was too
American ; this concept was only intensified after my trip to China in 2011. The
addition of Western style educationin the household of a second generation American
family unintentionally alienates the family members who participate in the schooling

However, I was particularly hostile in my first few days in Asia because, unlike the
others, my understanding of the Chinese language was very minimum. In some
ways, Rodriguez s mother was identical to mine. His mother would say, You should
keep up your Spanish (601). She was indirectly telling him he was losing himself in
the American culture much like I was. My mother would spend hours forcing me to
do my Chinese school assignments, which I had no interest in, and instilling life
lessons into my head that I would later forget. The homework could not compare to
the ones from my American schoolwork. By pushing and prodding me into pursuing
an education I was impartial to created a feeling of self loathing and exacerbated my
relationship with my

Coal Lobbying
Envisage a world where only the twinkle of candlelight illuminates windows in the
night, warmth is provided by wood stoves, and horse drawn carriages provide
transportation: a world without energy provided by fossil fuels. One might think
this is the world of our forefathers and of bygone days; however, with staggering
increases in energy demands perhaps such a world may not be so far from reality if
humanity fails to adapt to these changing needs and how we produce energy to meet
global energy requirements. There is no doubt that the greatest issues affecting
humanity today are that of pollution fueled climate change and energy insecurity
(Jacobson and Delucchi 1154). A number of solutions have been proposed in efforts
to reduce our dependence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The narrative of clean coal has been propped up by the industries primary lobbyist
group, the National Mining Association, with a budget of nearly twenty million
dollars a year (Coniff). Lobbying is a natural part of the political process, but the
issue becomes when the lobbying is disingenuous and the coal industry has zero
intentions of implementing clean coal, based on the fact that no coal plants
currently in the United States make use of any of the technology. Although the
technology is still being developed, there are no future plans to implement it as
well. On the other side, those who speak out against coal and clean coal are
naturally groups concerned about the environment, such as the Environmental
Protection Agency and green advocacy groups. They recognize that coal power
plants are the primary contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States
and thus their emissions must be controlled (Eilperin and Mufson). They also
believe even though limiting coal power plants will cost a great deal of money, the
American people will have a net benefit due to lower public health costs as a result
of air pollution while also benefitting globally by reducing greenhouse gas fueled
climate change. Essentially, clean coal is pursued by those who have a vested
commercial interest in its being as a mainstay of electricity generation, while those
who oppose it are against the negative health and climate effects it
The Mood Of All Summer In A Day
All Summer in a Day The short story, All Summer in A Day , by Ray Bradbury,
was written in 1954. This story is about how people live in a planet called Venus.
In Venus, it always rains. The last time the sun came out was seven years ago. It is
always rainy there and people are tired of seeing it rain. One of the major events
that happens in this story is that one day the sun comes out, but not for long. The
mood in the story shifts from exciting to defeated to remorseful. In the beginning of
the short story, Bradbury displays the mood as exciting. For example, the
enthusiastic children say, Do the scientists really know? Will it happen today, will
it? Look, look; see for yourself! This shows the mood is exciting because of the
context. It shows how impatient they are to see if the sun will come out today. This
also shows that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, They could not meet each other s glances. Their faces were solemn
and pale. They looked at their hands and feet, their faces down. This scene was
after the children locked Margot in the closet. The students felt remorse because
they didn t let Margot out of the closet to let her see the sun. One can tell they feel
this way because the students couldn t even look at each other without feeling
embarrassed or turning pale. Another example from the story is, They stood as if
someone had driven them, like so many stakes, into the floor. They looked at each
other and then looked away... no one moved. This example of a simile also shows
remorse. They feel bad for what they have done to her that they didn t even move
or talk. Margot was right all along saying that the sun would shine today but none
of her classmates believed her. Once they all realized she was right, they felt deep
regret because of always picking on her because she s from Earth and she use to get
to see the sun a lot. Ever since she moved to Venus, she saw the sun once, which was
seven years
Brideshead Revisited Essay
There is a snake in Eden; corruption in paradise. To what extent do you agree that the
Brideshead estate embodies a corrupted paradise in the novel? June 2010 Within the
context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic
with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards
modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisitedthe same pattern appears to be
followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in
Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social
classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. However, change is not exclusively a
negative force in the novel.
The title of book one Et in Arcadia Ego suggests ... Show more content on

Waugh describes their first encounter with the girls at May Mayfield s as a sickly
child and Death s Head , names foreshadowing the downfall and deterioration that
will result. It is as a result of this night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk
driving, and introduces them to the realities of adult life. It is because of this episode
that the Marchmain family are shamed in the newspaper, perhaps worsening Lady
Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the novel. This illustrates
clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there was
chaos which corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell
on.
Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility
exclusively privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his
portrayal of Hooper. Charles states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me
of Young Britain ; notably Hooper is not presented as an overly inspiring,
promising or likeable character. The use of young has connotations of the working
class were just coming of age and beginning to have the means to hold positions of
power and influence, as well as suggesting a major change in the Britain; an old
way of life has been left to be replaced by a new one. It could be argued that Charles
is presenting the traditional world as being corrupted with the changing, modernised
world.

Verbal And Nonverbal Language Of Whales
Language of Whales
One would not think to compare humans with cetaceans such as whales. The cetacean
brain is comparable to the size of the human brain, and is as complex as the human
brain, although its structure is evolved differently (Sato 1).Whales are similar to
humans in that they are able to communicate, have many languages, and learn from
one another. With limited sight and sense of smell in water, marine mammals are
more dependent on sound which travels four times faster in water than air to
communicate (Keely 1). This means that whales are mainly dependent on sound for
things such as communication and echolocation. Echolocation is an important tool
whales use to navigate their way around the ocean, and without communication, it is
unlikely that whales or any species would survive for long. Whales communicate to
find mates, teach their calves, show aggression, show intimacy, and warn others of
predators.
Whales interact with each other through verbal and nonverbal language. When it
comes to verbal communication, whale are divided into two categories, toothed
whales and baleen whales. The toothed whale suborder converses through the use of
high pitched clicks and whistles, and this is possible because all species under this
suborder have teeth. Baleen whales are equipped with baleen plates that have bristles
attached to them which are used to produce low frequency sounds. It is deep melodic
sounds the baleen whales make that are referred to as
whale songs .
The Puritan Plain Style
Chapter Five Summary Chapter five opens up with a new sermonic form called the
Puritan Plain style (Allen Jr., 29). It starts with an introduction that does not give
away the best part, rather, it foreshadows it (29). The flow starts with the introduction,
and flows to exegesis, then interpretation or theology, and last the application of the
text. The introduction should get the congregation thinking and raising questions that
can later be answered and applied later at the conclusion. The exegesis, perhaps my
favorite part, walks the congregation through the layers of ancient biblical context so
that they begin to turn the pastor s words into pictures that they can easily
understand (31). The task of this form like all other forms is to help

Fentanyl s Policy Solution Fentanyl is a powerful narcotic, one hundred times
stronger than heroin (Sagan), that is rapidly becoming a national crisis in Canada.
Fentanyl is often found within fake OxyContin pills or laced in other drugs such as
heroin. Alberta and several cities in Ontario are seeing how fentanyl is affecting
their provinces: in 2016 Alberta saw 343 fatal overdoses, Ontario saw 165 in 2015
(Cheung). The closest Canadian province, British Columbia, to the deadly drug s
source has felt the impact of the narcotic the most. Last year there were 914 fentanyl

There is a lot of misconception about drug legalization. Uncertainty towards this
concept is usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization
with decriminalization. Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away
penalties for possessing that drug but leaving its distribution in the hands of
criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they see fit.
Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That
means that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of
regulating the sales, content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally
effective example of a government deciding to legalize a dangerous substance,
which in its unregulated state was killing over a thousand people a year, happened
when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. Before it was legalized,
alcohol in the Prohibition era was laced with poison and the alcohol content of a
drink varied dramatically (Ostroff). Back then the selling of alcohol, like the drug
market today, was a criminally operated free for all. Unregulated and tainted liquor
killed over 10,000 americans during the thirteen years of prohibition (Hanson), that s
two alcohol caused fatalities a day. Today, alcohol is strictly regulated by the
government and there are rules for what manufacturers can put in their product
before it is allowed to go to market. For this reason alcohol fatalities are caused

Essay On Success. Sensational Essay On Success Thatsnotus

  • 1. Essay On Success Crafting an essay on the theme of success is a task that requires a delicate balance between personal reflection, research, and the ability to convey complex ideas effectively. Success is a multifaceted concept, encompassing various dimensions such as personal achievements, career advancements, and fulfillment in different aspects of life. As the writer, you need to navigate through these intricacies, offering a nuanced perspective that goes beyond clichГ©s. One of the challenges lies in defining success, as it can mean different things to different people. Consequently, finding a universal definition or approach becomes a tricky endeavor. Additionally, weaving together a narrative that engages the reader while presenting a coherent argument demands a careful selection of anecdotes, examples, and supporting evidence. Moreover, maintaining a balance between objectivity and subjectivity can be challenging. While personal experiences and insights bring authenticity to the essay, grounding your arguments in research and broader perspectives is equally important. This balance ensures that your essay appeals to a wider audience and is not limited to your individual viewpoint. The structure of the essay poses another set of challenges. Ensuring a smooth flow of ideas, transitioning between paragraphs seamlessly, and adhering to the prescribed word count requires meticulous planning and editing. Each section should contribute to the overall coherence and persuasiveness of the essay. Furthermore, avoiding clichГ©s and providing fresh insights on the topic is imperative. Success is a well-trodden subject, and standing out requires a unique perspective or an innovative take on the theme. Originality is key to capturing the reader's attention and making a lasting impression. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of success demands a thoughtful approach, blending personal reflection with research, maintaining a balance between subjectivity and objectivity, and presenting ideas in a structured and engaging manner. It is a challenge that requires creativity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding the concept of success. • 2. How Did David Hume The Improbability Of Miracles The 18th century philosopher David Hume claimed that there had never been credible testimony offered by anyone claiming they witnessed a miracle. Hume s argument regarding the improbability of miracles is fallacious. In An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding (1748), Hume attempts to fortify his stance but uses a cartesian circle, and thereby does not wholly prove against the existence of miracles. David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist, who is best known today for his highly influential system of philosophical empiricism, skepticism, and naturalism. Hume s resistance to the teleological contention for God s presence, the contention from design, is for the most part viewed as the most intellectual endeavor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His argument begins with the view that a wise person always believes what is most probable. A wise man, therefore, proportions his belief to the evidence (Hume 106). Hume asserts that it is more plausible that the testimony is false than the possibility of a miracle happening. He says that experience is the only guide in reasoning concerning matters of fact (105). He likewise contends that miracles exist primarily among the ignorant. It forms strong presumption against all supernatural and miraculous relations that they are observed chiefly to abound among ignorant and barbarous nations. He goes further with the idea that if someone testifies about a miracle, they received them from ignorant and barbarous ancestors... Further, the advantages are so great of starting an imposture among ignorant people that . . . it has a much better chance for succeeding in remote countries than if the first scene had been laid in a city renowned for arts and knowledge (126). Another argument by Hume is that there is no testimony for [an alleged miracle] that is not opposed by an infinite number of witnesses . . . Miracles have a self canceling nature. He sums up his argument
  • 3. Somalia Civil War Essay Today, twenty six years after the end of the Cold War, the United States foreign policy has shown its many flaws. Out of the copious conflicts the U.S. has found itself involved in, many have had unsatisfactory and unexpected endings. Somalia in 1992, for example, had begun as a simple humanitarian aid mission, later ending with nearly 150 U.S. servicemen and thousands of civilians dead in the Somali Civil War. About a year after this turmoil, the U.S. created new policies and mandates, creating a more organized and planned approach for later conflicts, such as Haiti. After both diplomatic and military peacebuilding tactics failed in Somalia, the United States must develop and uphold guidelines for when, where, and why the United States should enter conflict, similar to how the United States handled Haiti. Somalia s complications began just after the Cold War. With a regime backed by the Soviet Union, dictator Siad Barre had lost his foothold over his country. After 22 years of control, the people of Somalia were fed up, and with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early years of the Civil War, President George H.W. Bush had not found much interest in sending aid to combat chaos occurring overseas. He had ignored the call for humanitarian aid for the majority of 1992 (Haas pp 123). This was until the United Nations decided it would be a good idea to create an operation of aid for Somalia. The U.S. decided to participate in this operation by sending humanitarian aid in the form of food to combat the famine. While some had received relief, by 1992 half of the population was malnourished, hundreds of thousands had died from starvation, most of the livestock had died, and many who had lived decided to flee (Haas pp 123). What s worse, months after the U.S. had withdrew, reports of oil wells and drills had come to attention, showing that the U.S. may have had more motives in Somalia than the efforts the U.N. had

  • 5. Attending College Benefits Front my points of view, the benefits of attending college are manifold. According to the U.S Census bureau, a Bachelor s Degree holder earns twice as much in a lifetime as a high school graduate . Even better, there are more job options available to choose from, instead of having limited places in the workforce to work for owing to the fact that we never attended college. Although, not everybody may have the opportunity to attend college at some point, but when opportunity strikes, it can t be thrown away. Moreover, it is important to further our education, to increase our earnings potential, to increase our knowledge and have a better future. Besides increasing your earnings potential, attending college and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s true, this is why in a lot of TV commercials or on billboards, advertisers always say: Want a better future... then, this college is right for you, call this number below or visit us online now to change your life. In other words, attending college gives society an opportunity to change lives, have a better future and change careers. In my opinion, not a lot people will see it this way as I don t have to attend college to have a better future, I have a good job so I m happy , but then again more doors will be open, more opportunities and a better way to live life as long as you attend college and get a degree. Many people choose whether or not to attend college, not all of them didn t get the opportunity to go but some of them just decided to throw that opportunity away and mess up their lives. For the reasons above, there are plenty of other benefits of attending college, but in my opinion the main are: it will increase our earning potential, our knowledge, and gives us a better chance to have a better future. Meaning, us a society, we have to know when opportunity strikes, we can t let it pass by because at the end of the day, we will see the
  • 6. The Courage Of Rosa Parks Roxanne Williams Prof. Lobito Enc. 1101 April 19, 2016 The Courage of Rosa Parks Each person must live their life as a model for others. (Rosa Parks) Rosa Parks was tired of the way African Americans were poorly treated. She took a stand by not obeying a demand to give up her seat to a white passenger on a Montgomery bus. Because of her bold action she became a model to millions. Parks was an African American woman who became known for her bravery, which helped to change the nation. Parks spent most of her life fighting for desegregation, voting rights, and was active in the civil Right Movement that has changed social code in the U.S. (Rosa Parksfact.com). Rosa Parks is a pioneer for her brave act; her belief in equality, justice, and advancement for African American has impacted the world. BIOGRAPHY Rosa Parks, Rosa Louise McCauley, was born on February 4, 1913 in Tuskegee Alabama to parents Leona Edwards who was a schoolteacher and James McCauley a carpenter. At a young age Parks parents separated and her mother relocated with her and younger brother to Pine Level, a small town in Montgomery. There they resided with Leona s parents on their small farm where Parks would spend her youth. Discussing Developmental Theorists and Their Theories of Human Development For ease of review in discussing the developmental theorists and their theories of human development I have subdivided each theorist into their respective schools of psychology. These schools include the psychoanalytic school, behavioral school, humanistic school, cognitive school, and the individual schools of psychology. Each developmental theorist holds their own unique ideas and theories about various components of human development. I will be discussing the contributions of each of these theorists. To begin with we have the psychoanalytic school of psychology. This would include Sigmund Freud, Erik Erikson, and Elisabeth Kubler Ross. I will begin with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also concluded that the sexual drive was the most powerful shaper of a person s psychology, and that sexuality was present even in infants. He presented what is now a well known theory of the stages of psychosexual development. They include the oral, anal, and phallic stages. Later, he identified two additional stages called the latent and genital period. The phallic stages include the Oedipus Complex for boys and the Electra Complex for girls. The Oedipus Complex states there is a sexual attraction towards the mother and a sense of jealousy to the point of hatred of the father. The Electra Complex states that there is a sexual attraction towards the father and a hostile rivalry toward the mother. I find Freud s theory of the unconscious to be relevant and useful. I think the use of the term Freudian Slip most relevant in applying this theory. I know at times I have said things that I may have not been consciously thinking about yet when they came out I could identify with them. I can also agree that many unconscious memories are from childhood events. I find this highly useful for me because I am adopted and so unlike any members of my family. I believe my early childhood events helped to shape my future behavior but they were very painful and I repressed them. His stress on the importance of childhood helped to teach the value of giving children an emotionally nourishing environment so I can definitely find

Scientists report that the reason alcohol is so popular to people is because it is pleasant, relaxing, and is considered a social beverage. But what individuals often do not take in to consideration is the fact that alcohol dulls the brain and confuses physical reactions. This can lead to numerous injuries, accidents, and death. Cirrhosis of the liver can occur, which means the liver tissues become hardened. Scientists also report that irreversible brain damage can occur before cirrhosis of the liver is even detected. Also, cancer of the liver, mouth, esophagus as well as lungs and pancreatic cancer often occur as a result of alcoholism . Alcohol also has an affect on the mind as well as the body. Alcoholics often report that they feel inferior to people and believe they can do anything. Many people believe that alcohol acts as a social lubricant. Increased social pleasures, assertiveness talkativeness and even happiness are all expected by many, when they drink in these situations. Alcohol is said to reduce tension and anxiety. This in turn allows drinkers to feel more relaxed and comfortable in social situations. However, this also encourages the drinker to drink more when under more stress. Alcohol has the most affect on the family. Many alcoholics do not believe this because they think what they do has no affect on their family and friends. But often times the

It decreed that French was the single official language of the province of Quebecand that employees of the government had to work in French. Outdoor commercial signs had to be in French only and the children of immigrants would have to go to French schools. The Assembly then put pressure on political leaders to legally recognize Aboriginal rights. This led to Aboriginal rights being entrenched in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Bill C 31 being passed in 1985. This gave Aboriginal councils the power to choose who could live on Aboriginal reserves, which was a decision previously made by the Department of Indian Affairs in the federal government. People then started to argue for Aboriginal self government so that they could manage recourses, culture, educations and their justice system. Then they could deal with health concerns and social issues within their communities. Initially this Assembly benefitted the First Nations peoples but distanced Aboriginals from other Canadians. By highlighting differences in rights and governments, anger would have erupted among Natives. They would have resented those who wouldn t allow them their rights. On the other hand though, once they achieved some of their goals and observed that other Canadians could give in to their reasonable demands, their relationships with other Canadians would have improved. So, on the whole this Assembly was effective at improving Aboriginal and Canadian relationships with its successes and creating slight tensions with protests for

Furthermore, whilst a speaker pronounces words and letters that are in the non speaker opinion rigid and tough, an image of a solid language is created in the observing non speaker mind. Personally, listening to Hindi dialects, I myself seem to find it challenging to pronounce specific words, and an image of complexity forms in my mind. During dialect comparison, we realize that pronunciation is vulnerable to criticism and satire. Comedians during criticizing a specific group usually imitate the dialect to refer to their identity. Thus when they criticize the language they mean it to the group and their specialized behavior. Linguistic discrimination is an important issue; many have been discriminated and excluded from the public sphere due to their disability to practice the standardized language. In the Arab world, when second language speakers try to talk Arabic, they seem to have difficulties with the pronunciations. Consequently, this leads to limitations during the blending in procedures. Can fictional narratives such as novels produce knowledge, and if so, what kind? Consider this question in relation to Ian McEwan s novel Atonement. It would be very difficult for anyone to find a person who stated that historical or descriptive narratives did not produce knowledge. Can the same thing be said for the genre of historical fiction? In an analysis between historical narratives and historical fiction, we will see what do these two topics share, and what kinds of knowledge does historical fiction produce. What is it about historical narratives that give readers a sense that going into it, that they will become knowledgeable about a certain topic? What is considered knowledge in a historical narrative? I would say what a makes a historical narrative is that it contains facts such as dates, accounts of events, and information about the lives of people. These types of things can be measured through various forms of tests. (we know how much emphasis is put on what a person can recall). As a result, a reader may say that historical narratives are much more objective. Also, the writers of these historical novels are able to make connections to the modern day with the readers. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In recorded medical history, there has never been a death as a result of marijuana use or overdose. While medical professionals agree on the benefits of marijuana use for many serious conditions, the FDA will not step over federal law and begin testing the medical properties of marijuana. This leads all medical marijuana growers and dispensaries in a precarious position. While states law allows licensed individuals to grow and distribute to patients with prescriptions, they are still technically breaking federal drug and narcotics laws, and can be subject to arrest, seizure of products and equipment, and fines. They can also be charged with violating federal drug and narcotics laws that could land them in jail and, if convicted, leave a mark on their permanent legal records. Yet even with so much risk involved in the business, there are 984 registered dispensaries currently operating in the United States. So one might ask, why do they risk everything to violate federal law and sell illegal drugs? Whereas in opera buffa (comic opera), arias were often specific to the nature of the character being portrayed. As such formats settled, a German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck believed that both opera styles had become unnatural and lost their original form. Opera buffa were made up of too many stereotypical characters and bad jokes while opera seria contained too much superficial vocal effects and boring plots. In opera buffa, the vocal lines were often decorated so much so that the original tune could no longer be recognised. Therefore, Gluck aimed to bring back the original focus of opera which was on drama in humanity, passions and the equal value of music and text. The later works of Mozart can be seen to be affected by these ideals, where arias develop far more on characters emotions and enriching the telling of the story. 19th

The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples Evidence to Convict Innocent People Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples that are about as reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law enforcement, it allows defense attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes. Introduction When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last person in class have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the investigative process. Police misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be changed to prevent the latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which contains an articulate eyewitness testimony. Police Initiated Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the police focus on one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel vision usually obtains biases and the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing evidence to fill in holes. They also contain police misconduct by the use of snitches (con game), accomplices (turning in of a partner for a lighter sentence), and coerced confessions. Death By Neil Degrasse Tyson Analysis By reading the book Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, one can deduce that the author, Neil deGrasse Tyson, is man of intelligence with a love for the ways of the universe. He values his personal interest so much that he has solved how long it would take to cook a 16 inch pepperoni pizza on Venus; the answer is seven seconds (80). Tyson obviously has a strong enthusiasm for what he does as an astrophysicist and has spent many years in this field. This statement evidently states that the Bible holds no valuable information with regards to the universal laws and ideas. On the last page of the book, Tyson further emphasizes that one cannot put complete faith in a higher being by stating that [God] does not want students who could make the next major breakthrough in renewable energy sources or space travel to have been taught that anything they do not understand, and that nobody yet understands, is divinely constructed and therefore beyond intellectual capability

Eventually I understand that the loves out weigh the hates, however, in the beginning, during plebe year, it may feel overwhelming to many of them. As a lot of Naval Academy graduates say about the Naval Academy, It s a good place to be from, but not a good place to be. Concerning that, there were some regulations that I only discovered with further observation. For example, at all formal meals, plebes only use the front three or four inches of their chairs, sitting at attention, with the exception of chair in the academic buildings and plebe/Fourth Class dorms. If a plebe needs to speak, he must first extend a fist (known as putting out the paw ) for permission to speak. Alas, for the plebes, those are only the rules which apply in King Hall. There are also many other rules they struggle with on the entire academy. Directly before a formal meal, during their formation outside of Bancroft, the midshipmen must recite the menu, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. When plebes are asked, How long have you been in the Navy, they must answer, All me blooming life, sir! Me mother was a mermaid, me father was King Neptune. When plebes are asked, How s the cow, they must answer, Sir, she walks, she talks, she s full of chalk. Although these myriad of disjointed memorizations, ludicrous tasks and perpetual Panic mode as a plebe may seem to have very little to do with the profession of arms, the sole purpose of the regulations is to make them into better officers as a whole. In the real world, these traditions encourage the quick execution of orders, discipline, knowledge of your environment, and respect

He brought along his friend Katz to reflect and reacquaint his discovery on a 2,100 mile of the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail stretches from the two states of Georgia to Maine. They will be discussing their hilarious jokes that were witnessed in this novel. Here are few examples: Bryson said he wanted to use the bathroom in the woods, Mary Ellen was the controlling and impatient camper they met, and what Mary Ellen called and did for Bryson and Katz while on the trail. Bill Brysonand his friend Katz are determined to experience the Appalachian Trail, which creates amusing stories. First, Bill himself is hilarious. For example, the reader writes this quote: I wanted a little of that swagger that comes with being able to gaze at a far horizon through eyes of chipped granite and say with a slow, manly sniff, Yeah, I ve shit in woods. (Bryson 4) Bill Bryson said that because the restrooms on the trail were disgusting and completely appalling to go into. He probably meant that they were all taken by other camper and that he couldn t wait so he decided to use the restroom in the woods. Or he wanted to go in the restroom in the woods to prove a point to show other campers and animals that the woods are just nature. Second, Mary Ellen is one example of amusing by this quote in the novel: When s your birthday? she said to me.

Helping people this way is called doctor assisted suicide. I believe that doctor assisted suicide is okay and should be allowed because of. If you let them suffer you are not showing any compassion and you as a human being should be show compassion to those loved ones who are suffering each and everyday. It would be better to just rest in peace and definitely wouldn t have anymore pain. You might say and think why would a doctor kill someone that is wrong? Now a doctor doesn t kill them they help them find peace and not feel pain and suffering anymore. It s not fair to have to live such a stressful life and to watch your family suffer also. A doctor is not there to kill people they is there to assist them because the person suffering is giving the doctor consent. Killing is not assisting it is wrong so a doctor doesn t kill the doctor has permission from the person suffering. The doctors just allow the person s freedom to choose whether they want to live or have peace in death and die when they choose

This poem relates the cyclical nature of our economy to each individual life coming full circle. Throughout history, the economy booms and times become prosperous, such as the Roaring 20 s. However, the economy can go bust and ruin lives, such as the Great Depression, just as quickly. This illustrates how the loop of the economy and a human s life are related. This also shows that the balance in this universe cannot be broken or changed. This poem describes being young and having energy, which would be considered the upward swing of your life and the times of a developing economy. Then there is a state of prosperity where one reaches their prime, which would be being at the top of the circular swing and when the economy is booming. And then begins the process of having less energy, not being as prosperous, start of aging; all of which would be considered the downward swing and the economy going bust. And ultimately, death is the lowest point of the swing. This whole cycle then begins all again, but with another life this time. It is not surprising that if the timeline of humanity, then certain aspects such as the economy also follow the circular pattern too. This theme is a double edged sword. While it is comforting to know that rough times will not last forever and humanity will pull itself up, it is also depressing to know nothing good in life will always stay the same, it will eventually all burn down for it to be rebuilt

By July 8, 1865, the Jamaica Guardian captured the people s discontent with Governor Edward John Eyre, who served as British official on the island. In this message of discontent, the people call for his removal because of his weak, vacillating, and undignified character and conduct. The people became quite discontent with the British official because of his actions regarding the Morant Bay Rebellion. He responded to the rebellion with force and violence by declaring martial law in Surrey County and accused George William Gordon, a free black businessman, of being part of the rebellion that led to death. This group wanted to imprison the governor for his actions, but their actions led to his removal from office. This event created much havoc and chaos in England and Jamaica because it disturbed the British masses, which questioned the effectiveness of colonial rule after the Sepoy Munity of 1857. The cases received a large amount of political and public attention because two schools of thought existed in the debate. One

Although the technology is still being developed, there are no future plans to implement it as well. On the other side, those who speak out against coal and clean coal are naturally groups concerned about the environment, such as the Environmental Protection Agency and green advocacy groups. They recognize that coal power plants are the primary contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in the United States and thus their emissions must be controlled (Eilperin and Mufson). One of the major events that happens in this story is that one day the sun comes out, but not for long. The mood in the story shifts from exciting to defeated to remorseful. In the beginning of the short story, Bradbury displays the mood as exciting. For example, the enthusiastic children say, Do the scientists really know? Will it happen today, will it? June 2010 Within the context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisitedthe same pattern appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. Waugh describes their first encounter with the girls at May Mayfield s as a sickly child and Death s Head , names foreshadowing the downfall and deterioration that will result. It is as a result of this night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk driving, and introduces them to the realities of adult life. It is because of this episode that the Marchmain family are shamed in the newspaper, perhaps worsening Lady Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the novel. This illustrates clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there was chaos which corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell on. Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility exclusively privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his portrayal of Hooper. Charles states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me of Young Britain ; notably Hooper is not presented as an overly inspiring, promising or likeable character. • 51. Verbal And Nonverbal Language Of Whales Language of Whales One would not think to compare humans with cetaceans such as whales. The cetacean brain is comparable to the size of the human brain, and is as complex as the human brain, although its structure is evolved differently (Sato 1).Whales are similar to humans in that they are able to communicate, have many languages, and learn from one another. With limited sight and sense of smell in water, marine mammals are more dependent on sound which travels four times faster in water than air to communicate (Keely 1). This means that whales are mainly dependent on sound for things such as communication and echolocation. Echolocation is an important tool whales use to navigate their way around the ocean, and without communication, it is unlikely that whales or any species would survive for long. Whales communicate to find mates, teach their calves, show aggression, show intimacy, and warn others of predators. Whales interact with each other through verbal and nonverbal language. When it comes to verbal communication, whale are divided into two categories, toothed whales and baleen whales. The toothed whale suborder converses through the use of high pitched clicks and whistles, and this is possible because all species under this suborder have teeth. Baleen whales are equipped with baleen plates that have bristles attached to them which are used to produce low frequency sounds. It is deep melodic sounds the baleen whales make that are referred to as whale songs .

Uncertainty towards this concept is usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization with decriminalization. Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away penalties for possessing that drug but leaving its distribution in the hands of criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they see fit. Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That means that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of regulating the sales, content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally effective example of a government deciding to legalize a dangerous substance, which in its unregulated state was killing over a thousand people a year, happened when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. Before it was legalized, alcohol in the Prohibition era was laced with poison and the alcohol content of a drink varied dramatically (Ostroff).
