Honor And Glory In The Iliad By Homer
Homer, in his epic poem, The Iliad , develops his theme, honor and glory, through
his main hero Hector. Hector and Achilles both throughout Homers novel were a big
help to their sides and seemed too both display Homers theme, honor and glory, so
there s one question. Who s Homers main hero. Achilles was absent for most of the
last year of the Trojan Warfor personal reasons, which is a big push back for him.
Achillesalso had a lot of help from the gods so we don t know if he would be the
warrior he was without help from the gods. And finally Hector was not afraid of
anything and he was willing to give his life for his country. After lots of study on
Achilles, Hector, and many other heroes, it seems that Homers main hero that is used

The conflict begins when the fact that Achilles defeated Hector is brought up.
However Homer states that Achilles was overcome by anger when he defeated
Hector. A real hero fights for honor and his side, not for vengeance. When Achilles
killed Hector, Hector stood up and fought back which allowed him to die an
honorable death. Homer states that Achilles s armor and weapons were created by
the god Vulcan. Achilles might not have defeated Hector without his powerful
armor. Hector did not back down the whole war for any reasons. He stayed and
fought with all his heart without making any excuses. Achilles might ve been feared
more than Hector was feared but it was only because he was more known and had
more time to show his skills. Homers main hero in his epic poem, The Iliad , is Hector

Interview, Process Analysis, And Analysis
I have conducted an interview with a client and in my paper I will explain my
experience and how I used the skills we have gone over in class. In the paper I will
have a description of my client, my assessment, a summary of the interview,
process analysis, and analysis of professional use of self. Not only will I assess the
interviewer but myself as well. I will include all the interviewing skills I used and
the ones I didn t. Also, whether or not I used a particular skill or technique in the
right situation and was it effective. I will share what I observed while during the
interview, the use of questions I used, and did I show empathy. Last I will share my
feelings and thoughts of the interview, any errors I have made, and if I had a chance
to replay it what would I have done different.
Description of client The client I interviewed was a black African American
woman. Her name is Tonya Dukes and lives in Pennington Alabama. She is 41
years old and is middle class. She lives in a community that is rural. She attends
school at Alabama Southern Community College and is majoring in nursing. Her
plans are to finish in July 2017 and move to Florida. Her dreams one day is meet
her someone, to get married, and move far away from her home time. She has one
child, who is a girl that is eleven years old. She goes to school fulltime, works, take
care of her mom, and helps out in the community. Not only do she go to school but
she tutor as well. So all these things is influencing
Is Music Amoral Essay
Is music moral or amoral? Many people in the world today will tell you that it is
amoral, but is that true? Well, before we answer that question, let us look at what the
words moral and amoral mean. According to The New Oxford American Dictionary,
the definition of amoral is neutral, lacking a moral sense, or unconcerned with the
rightness or wrongness of something, while the word moral means concerned with
the principles of right and wrong behavior, and the goodness or the badness of the
human character. Therefore, when someone says that music is amoral, they are
stating that music has no grasp, or affect on us, and that it s just something we listen
to. That it is neutral. But, if that is true, then why does the sound and beat of certain...

This is proven in the Bible in I Sam. 16:16, 23 16. Let our lord now command thy
servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an
harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he
shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. 23. And it came to pass, when the
evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his
hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.
Another example of music being moral is how music affects people physically.
The type of rhythm and beat in music is what makes us want to move. For
example, good music might make us want to move our extremities; our hands,
arms, legs, and feet. A tap of the foot, a march at a football game, or in the army, or
the air force. It makes us feel happy and joyous. Whereas bad music can make us
want to sway, clap our hands to the beat, and move sexually. This type of music
appeals to our body rather than our spirit. It can make us feel anger, and even at
times may give us a sense of numbness and hypnosis. Unfortunately, some of the
most popular genres in music today namely rock and rap are full of nothing but
explicit, vulgar and sexual words, and the wrong type of rhythm, beat, and sounds. As
Christians, we should want to avoid this kind
The Weaknesses of the Parti Quebecois Bill 60
Secularism Long before the October Crisis in the 1970 s, the Parti Quebecois has
been trying to separate from Canada. The Parti Quebecois has implemented their
own charter called Bill 60 in order amend the current Canada Charter of Rights and
Freedoms which is entrenched in the Constitution of Canada. If this proposed bill
were to be passed, it will cause many problems amongst the citizens of Quebecin
terms of diversity as it will be banning some of the most important guaranteed rights
stated in the Constitution: Freedom of expression and freedom of religion.
Although there are positives to a secular state, there are also a few negatives if you
were to look closely. Citizens moved to places like Canadato practice their freedom,
not to have them taken away. Taking away these rights could start separatist groups
and maybe even start wars within the province of Quebec. The reason why this bill
is being proposed it that they Parti Quebecois would like to see more equality
between men and women (cbc.ca). There really is no reason for this bill to be
passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly because they are afraid of losing
their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular charter, which
has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. If passed,
public sector employees such as teachers, police officers, doctors, and even
politicians will be banned from wearing any religious symbol. Once the bill was
proposed, it started a back and
Embezzlement In The Workplace
Worldwide, there are hundreds, if not thousands of crimes being committed everyday
towards businesses. Unfortunately, not all crimes committed are being reported or
handled until it is too late. Embezzlement is one of the many crimes that can affect
any business. The first thing to understand is the meaning of embezzlement.
Embezzlement is the misappropriation of funds placed in one s trust or belonging to
one s employer. The difference between embezzlement and stealing is that
embezzlement is done from the inside.
Employee embezzlement can happen in any business. However, it affects smaller and
newer businesses in high numbers due to the fact that the employers do not have a
steady foundation and the proper personnel. Embezzlement is very ... Show more

This process may be strengthened through increased promotion of the hotline in
company mailings, internal communications, newsletters and company website.
Some businesses will actually reward the caller, if they choose to be identified later,
with perks for calling in a reliable tip. Unfortunately, not all business has an employee
hotline.
It is unfortunate that many businesses have already suffered a huge lost and even
closed its doors forever based on the greedy of others due to greedy and personal
issues. Embezzlement can be considered a second degree felony based on the amount
stolen and can be punishable with jail or prison time, fines or both. This can vary
depending on that state the crime was committed in.
In conclusion, Donnie Wright should have gotten more jail time based on the
amount of money taken from the business. Taking over $ 300,000 and only getting
sentenced to 37 months is just unacceptable even if he did plead guilty. This type of
lost can ruin a business and affect hundreds of business that bank with this company
which would cause a bigger lost to the bank if investors and companies pulled their
money out and put it
Designing A New Branch Leader
After reading Chapter 9 and looking back on my time spent working two summers
at a grain elevator which also had its own agronomy department (using science and
technology to help produce better crop yields), it became noticeably clearer that the
company I was working for was making arrangements to hire a new branch leader.
The elevator that I worked for was one of two branches for the larger company. The
company has three branch managers along with a person in charge of overseeing the
entire operation. My first summer the branch that I was working for hired a recent
college graduate to aid the current branch manager with the day to day operations of
the company. He was asked to have his hand in everything that took place within our
branch of the company. Working three months that summer, I got to see the
development procedures that they were putting him through. Although it did not
apply to me, being a coach, I paid attention to the things they were having him,
potentially hearing or seeing something that could benefit me in my profession. With
him starting just a week after I had started, it allowed me to essentially everything
they had designed for him thorough those first three months. Throughout the first
month and a half, he was sitting near the head of the table for company meetings,
sitting in on meetings with customers, and doing ride alongs to check fields and
perform soil samples. Everything that a branch manager would do, he was doing.
That whole summer, he was
Growth Curve of Serratia marcescens
Experiment 9: Growth curve of Serratia marcescens
Abstract
Bacteria grows by binary fission. The aim of this experiment is to follow the
growth of Serratia marcescens in nutrient broth at 37oCby recording the changes in
turbidity (cloudiness) by measuring the absorbance of visible light (600 nm) and
also to prove that there is an increase in the cell number and not just in mass during
the growth. In the experiment we measure the full growth curve of Serratia
marcescens by measuring the absorbance at 600nm at every 10 mins. I also
determined the viable count at the start and the end of the exponential phase of
growth. Using the growth curve I calculated the growth curve and it was 1.2. Using
this I found the doubling time which was 34s. ... Show more content on

(Note, if counting by turbidimetric measurements or microscopic counts, the death
phase cannot be observed.). During the death phase, the number of viable cells
decreases geometrically (exponentially), essentially the reverse of growth during the
log phase.
During the lag phase there is no increase in cell numbers, although the bacteria are
synthesizing enzymes present in their environment in preparation for the exponential
phase. During the exponential or logarithmic phase, the bacterial population grows at
a rate that doubles the population during the generation time. The stationary phase
incurs neither an increase nor a decrease in the cell population. The population
growth cannot continue at the exponential rate since the nutrient supplies have been
depleted and waste products have accumulated. The final phase of the bacterial
population growth curve is the death phase, during which more cells die than are
replaced by new cells.
The aim of this experiment is to follow the growth of Serratia marcescens in nutrient
broth at 37oCby recording the changes in turbidity (cloudiness) by measuring the
absorbance of visible light (600 nm) and also to prove that there is an increase in the
cell number and not just in mass during the growth.

A Report On Heritage Woods Will Be Bustling With
Farmhands...
They ll have to stay indoors, Crocco said. Heritage Woods will be bustling with
farmhands when the sun comes up.
Right, William said. You guys have to promise to stay indoors until we can find more
private housing. The men nodded and left with Crocco.
Let me get him fed and into bed, Tabitha said, nuzzling the infant. Then we can talk.
Tabitha followed William to the second floor of the condominium. William drew
the shades and lit a kerosene lantern in the bedroom, and another lantern in the
bathroom. Tabitha changed the baby s diaper, and fed him a bottle of formula.
The baby s eyes grew heavy as Tabitha rocked him to sleep, and put him down on a
mattress in the bedroom. She used the warm water in the bathroom to clean herself
up, and changed into clean shorts and a tank top. When she was sure the baby was
asleep, she walked downstairs where William was waiting under the sharp glow of a
single, naked lightbulb hanging from the ceiling.
William stared at Tabitha as she descended the staircase. Even in the unflattering
glare of the single, 80 watt bulb, and past middle age, Tabitha was as beautiful as
ever. There was a slight bend to her back, but she still carried herself with the sleek,
avian movements that William remembered from their days at Beacon Academy.
Her hair was thinner and shorter with a few streaks of gray, and crow s feet clawed at
the corners of her eyes, but her face still held the glow of youth, and her eyes were as
deep, intense, and
Treating Asthma
Asthma treatment is consistent with care along a continuum which may change at
any time to accommodate the individual s current symptoms. The clinical based
guidelines consist of step by step guidelines with varying treatments arranged by age
and organized by the severity and the addition of pharmacological therapies (NAEPP,
2007). The process of treating asthmahas been proven most successful with the
NAEPP clinical guidelines. The NAEPP guidelines provide a holistic approach to
caring for individuals suffering from asthma. Treatment consists of assessing and
monitoring the severity of one s asthma, the provision of patient education to assist
with self management, assisting with the need to control one s environmental risk
factors, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Follow up treatment or assessment has been identified as the single most
beneficial aspect to ensuring one s asthma is well controlled (Axelsson et al.,
2015). Follow up with individuals should take place between 2 6 weeks of acute
exacerbation and between 1 3 month intervals regularly (NAEPP, 2007).
Evaluation and changes in treatment are recommended based on assessment of one
s adherence to medication regimens and management of environmental factors
(NAEPP, 2007). Once it is established if the individual is maintaining adherence
and controlling environmental factors but the individual s asthma that is not well
controlled a one step up method of treatment is recommended and a two step up
approach for very poorly controlled individuals (NAEPP, 2007). Asthma well
controlled should be evaluated and concluded controlled for 3 months prior to
changes in medication regimens (NAEPP, 2007). After 3 months of well controlled
asthma, an individual s medication regimen may be stepped down by 1 step and
the dose of ICS s may be reduced by 25 percent every 3 months until the lowest
control dose is reached (NAEPP, 2007).
In the event asthma is no longer manageable by a primary clinician the need for a
referral may be require. Referral to an asthma specialist for management is
recommended if there are complications achieving or maintaining control of asthma.
Also, if the patient required more than 2 uses of oral systemic corticosteroids in 1
year or has required hospitalization it is imperative for the individual to be referred
for further management (NAEPP,

International Student Immigration Studies
The United States have been hosting the largest number of international students
than any other country in the world. Enrollment of foreign students in US
universities increased rapidly from over 310 thousand in 1980 to over 880
thousand in 2013, with an average annual growth rate of 3.4% over the last three
decades citep{iie}. The growth in enrollment has been positive in all years except
in 2003 2005 during which strict visa application process was implemented
following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack. Afterwards it received a quick
rebound with an average annual growth of 5.8% from 2006 2013. In 2013 foreign

Apart from these, this study will examine whether foreign students influence teaching
performance of host universities as measured by their ``graduation premiums . We
will also analyze whether foreign students generate externality that affect the
performance of domestic students in completing their degrees in a timely manner.
We use the concept of industry wage premiums which measures how much more or
less relative to the average a given industry pays to its workers after controlling for
individual workers characteristics and other confounding factors. Methodologically,
the wage premium is estimated from a regression equation which defines the wage of
workers as a function of their observed characteristics, such as education, age,
experience and others, and industry dummy indicators. The coefficients of industry
indicators represent industry wage premiums. In our case we defined a ``graduations
equation which specify the number of degrees conferred in a given discipline and
university as a function of lagged enrollments and university indicators. The simple
rationale behind is that enrollment is that enrollment is an input in the education
process and graduation is an output. Coefficients of the university indicators capture
how many more or less degrees a department in a given
Reflection Of The Learning Experience In Preparation For...
CW1: Reflection on previous learning experiences in preparation for Higher
Education
This essay discusses the journey of my previous educational experiences, lessons
learned from the past and further reflections on how to approach future challenges
and expectations of a university course. Altbach, P. G., Gumport, P. J. Berdahl, R. O.
(Eds.). (2011) explained that higher education always brings considerable challenges
for new students in becoming knowledgeable and triumph over the barriers that may
impact on learning. University course requires a student to be self motivated,
challenging, capable, concerned, active, energetic and vibrant. Maintaining the
balance in learning and nourishing in university is the beginning of the journey of a
new student in higher education.
My journey into higher education began when I was inspired by my previous
education and supportive tutors. My previous education enabled me to recognise as a
student the importance of investing passion and time in gaining knowledge and
developing future, which was the mechanism to initiate the journey to return this
specific confidence and guidance within higher education. My previous educational
experiences enhanced various capabilities within myself such as: learning, supporting
other students, research involvement, gaining maximum knowledge and maintaining
practice. Initially, I found it quite difficult to absorb knowledge and be competent in
all aspects while also adjusting to academic environment.

In the research article The Relationship between Number of Fruits, Vegetables, and
Noncore Foods Tried at Age 14 Months and Food Preferences, Dietary Intake
Patterns, Fussy Eating Behavior, and Weight Status at Age 3.7 Years by Mallan,
Fildes, Magarey, and Daniels, they study the exposure to higher amounts of
vegetables, noncore foods (low nutrients) and fruits at 14 months of age to see if it
is connected to the consumption of these foods, as well as to the child s preference
for these foods. The authors also study these higher exposures to fruits, noncore
foods and vegetables to see if it relates to weight at age 3.7 and fear of new food.
Moreover, they proposed the idea that; Early food texture and taste experiences effect
acceptance and preference of food. Further, the authors study these exposures to fruits
and vegetables at 14 months of age because the eatingbehaviors and food preferences
of a child will be developing during that time, which will be important for the
formation of the child s diet patterns. In addition, the formation of the child s diet
patterns has suggestions as to whether or not the child will develop an unhealthy
weight. Furthermore, the authors study people s understanding of early feeding
experiences, and examine children s early food exposure (Mallan, Fildes, Magarey,
Daniels, 2015).
To determine acceptance and preference of food, the authors examine children s
early feeding experiences and mother s knowledge of early feeding experiences.
Summary Of Anne Frank The Diary Of A Young Girl
How would you react if your family was loathed by both the government and
neighboring citizens simply because of your religion? What if you were ordered to
work at a German labor camp, and if you didn t, there would be serious
consequences? In the diary, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne
Frank, Anne and her family go through the same exact situation but they choose to
go into hiding instead of fleeing the German occupied country. All of the
characters, the setting, and the theme depicted on what would come in the near
future. Anne and her family also go through unexpected daily situations that not
only affect them as a whole, but stands as a place in Anne s heart. The characters
were an extraordinarily significant aspect of how the story would turn out in the
end. Anne, her family, the van Daan family, and Albert Dussel went into hiding at
the Secret Annex. Anne was particularly attached to her father, Otto, because she
felt he was always there for him. ВЁI model myself after Father, and there s no one
in the world I love more. He doesn t realize that he treats Margot differently than he
does me: Margot just happens to be the smartest, the kindest, the prettiest and the
best. But I have a right to be taken seriously too, (10 30 1943). She explained that
her father had great sympathy towards her, but she wanted to be perceived as an
adult too. There were also residents she despised, like Mrs. van Daan. Anne and Mrs.
van Daan thought very different from each
Kant s Argumentative Analysis
Kant presents his side of the argument between the rationalists in Gottfried Leibniz s
corner and the empiricists in David Hume s corner in order to quell the dispute
between the two parties. An argument about how humans perceive the world or
reality in which they exist, the rationalists subscribe to a view of human insight
separate from experience, while empiricists completely contrast that view with
gaining insight into the world only through experience. Kant claims that a new
system of concepts should be adopted, which he names, transcendental philosophy,
stating the possibility of a priori pure reason in the introduction of the B edition of
the Critique of Pure Reason. He thinks that reason provides the insight and tools
needed for cognition.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant employs Descartes I think therefore I am example to address the situation
(B406). Kant lays out a critique on cognition and employs the category of Matter and
Form to address it, and it is not the consciousness of the determining self, but only
that of the determinable self, (B 407). He introduces four paralogisms, the first states
that in every judgment I am always the determining subject of the relation to the
judgment. That the I of apperception is a single thing that cannot be resolved into a
plurality of subjects. That distinguishing one s own existence as a thinking being,
from other things outside of that entity, but to which the body simultaneously
belongs (B 407 09). Kant is claiming that according to Leibniz an individual
substance is a predicate of all possibilities, and that this is a fallacy of equivocation.
Because when applying the transcendental topic it is our capacity to think in an a
priori reality, that allows humans to have self consciousness. Kant thinks this is a
reflection, the self consciousness that constitutes the logical form and unity in a
thought. That the I exist thinking is empirical and is determinable due to his
presence in space in
The Music Of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an Austrian composer who mastered the range of
contemporary modern instrumental and vocal forms including the symphony,
concerto, chamber music, and especially in the opera.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, in Salzburg, Austria.
Mozart mom and dad, stressed about the importance music to their children.
Wolfgang received in depth musical training that by the age of six he was a rising
composer and a soon to be keyboard performer. In 1762 Mozart dad presented him
as a performer at the imperial court in Vienna, Austria, and from 1763 to 1766 he lead
both of his children on a continuous musical tour across.
Mozart was the most praised child prodigy of this time as a keyboard performer.
He also made a great impression as a composer. In London he won the admiration of
musician Johann Christian Bach and he was exposed from an early age to different
variety of musical styles across Europe.
Although he had great musical ability, Mozart s lack of a normal childhood caused
him much suffering. During his youth, Mozart was constantly in the news and was
extravagantly acclaimed by all. He was well aware of his precious talent and
developed an arrogant and overly confident demeanor. He had little discipline and
maturity outside the subject of music. Mozart frequently went through periods of
financial difficulty.
At age 4 Wolfgang himself began keyboard lessons playing without fault and with
great sensitivity, and by age 5 he was

Three Modes Of Objectification In Foucault
Michel Foucault was a French thinker, philosopher and postmodernist. He has been
hugely influential in shaping understandings of power. He talked about how the
power and knowledge are used as a form of social control through societal institutions
and also the relationship between them (Michael Power,
Annual Review of Sociology, Vol. 37, (2011), pp. 35 56, Published by: Annual
Reviews).
In the book The Foucault Reader: An Introduction to Foucault s Thought,

Objectification of subject:
Subject refers to the active individual or social group with consciousness or will
while object refers to that on which the subject s cognitive or other activity
observes[1]. Objectification of subject means treating a person (subject) as a thing
(object) without any regard to their dignity. According to
Foucault(1983), there are three modes of objectification:
1. Dividing Practices: Dividing practices is the systematic social or cultural
categorisation of different classes thus objectifying the subject either by a process
of division with others or even within himself tending to give the subject two
different identities i.e social and personal. This mode is mainly about objectificaton
of individuals drawn first from a rather undifferetiated mass and later from more
highly preselected populations. Dividing practices are maily the techniques of
domination applied to the working class, vegabond population. Examples he gave
from society are the isolation of lepers during middle ages; the confinement of the
poor, insane and vegabonds in the great catch all Hospital in Paris in 1656 (Michel

LGBT Youth Obstacles
LGBT Youth Obstacles
There is a tremendous amount of LGBT youth that experience homelessness in the
United States, and forty percent of them identify themselves as LGBT. There are so
many issues that cause homelessness in the LGBT community such as discrimination
in religious communities, lack of support from families and rejection from society.
But in a world where these issues are all around us, how can we solve this? It starts
with every individual to just stop and maybe educate themselves on this unique youth
community and the struggles they must face to bring in equality. This education can
start with volunteer work, educational classes, or even support groups. The problem
is the discrimination against the LGBT youth community, so many do not
understand what it means to be in the LGBT individual and the obstacles they must
face such as finding a job, going to school and finding a place to live, etc. Many
LGBT have to face discrimination while trying to attend and can be such a huge
obstacle to try to receive an education when you have to go to a hostile work
environment every day. In the article Like walking through a Hailstorm
discrimination against LGBT Youth in US Schools states that A lack of policies and
practices that affirm and support LGBT youth and failure to implement protections
that do exist means that LGBT students nationwide continue to face bullying,
exclusion, and discrimination in school, putting them at physical and phycological

Discussion About Immigration
The Discussion on Immigration
If you are an everyday American, one of the most talked about things right now is
immigration. The definition of immigration is the action of coming to live
permanently in a foreign country. Why is something with such a simple definition
cause so much unease in U.S. people? Why is it that people such as Donald Trump
find it ok to kick people who are trying to do the very thing that our country is built
off of? The United States was built off of the action of moving to a foreign country
permanently. Reportedly in the last couple of years, immigration has been at a peek.
To look at it deeper, there are some of the important questions you have to ask: What
is the real reason for immigrant to come to the United States? ... Show more content

Can hybrid cars can improve fuel efficiency and save the environment? A debate
has recently arisen; are hybrid automobiles that much more fuel efficient than the
average car, and is the higher sticker price worth the investment? Questions have
also been asked about the hope of reducing environmental pollution. Are
government rebates and dealer incentives worth the additional investment of
purchasing these higher priced cars? What is the adoption rate among consumers
to these automobiles? Gas mileage can be defined as: how many miles a car or
truck can travel on one gallon of gasoline (Marland English, 2015). As fossil fuels
continue to be depleted, our civilization must look at cost efficient ways to
accomplish daily tasks. Hybrid cars use a combination of the gasoline engine with
electronic motors to achieve a number of objectives. This differs from the new
totally electricity powered cars that run on charged batteries. According to
www.fueleconomy.gov; a vehicle that gets 30 MPG will cost you $545 less to fuel
each year than one that gets 20 MPG, assuming 15000 miles of driving annually
and a fuel cost of $2.18 ( Save Money , 2015). Over time this can lead to huge
savings in fuel costs to the average consumer. As oil prices continue to rise and fall,
a more fuel efficient car could provide some comfort to the financially stressed
customer. A person must take into consideration if the savings in fuel costs are worth
the higher investment price of a hybrid. On average,

Similarities Between Stand By Me And Away By Michael
Gow
Introduction
The two dramatic texts, the drama Away by Michael Gow and the film stand by
me directed by Rob Reiner explore many types of discoveries were presented and
explored by the author and director. Discovery in these texts is the action or
process of finding or being found. Stand by me is about four Oregon boys decide
to go see the body. On the way, Gordy, Vern, Chris and Teddy encounter a mean
junk man and a marsh full of leeches, as they also learn more about one another and
their very different home lives. Just a lark at first, the boys adventure evolves into a
defining event in their lives. Whereas away is a play written by the Australian
playwright Michael Gow. First performed by the Griffin Theatre Company in 1986, it
tells the story of three internally conflicted families holidaying on the coast for
Christmas, 1968. This play focuses on three families embarking on their summer
holiday at the end of the year. The families are seen a cross section of the Australian
community at the time and they aspirations and attitudes.

bond between one another like no other, by the end of the film they know each other.
The author used emotions to bring the message to the readers mind. Whereas in away

the residents of Brewster Place abused her for something she is not capable of

what others do not. He dares to question what is out of the ordinary, and seeks out
the truth instead of dismissing it as nothing. He shows curiosity, which leads him to
new ideas. When he has his experience at the river, he is given a new name, which

Even later on his journey to find the mountains he discovered a small mouse utopia
with an abundant supply of food and shelter, everything a mouse could want. Yet he
still wanted to keep searching for the mountains he knew were still ahead. The
mouse in this story is a very kind and generous mouse. He comes across the path of
a sick buffalo that needs one thing to make him complete: an eye of a mouse. Now
it doesn t take long for Jumping Mouse to decide what to do. He doesn t want the
buffalo to die so he gives up half of his gift of sight by letting the buffalo have an
eye. In return for his gift of life, the buffalo offered him protection from predators
as Mouse continued on with his journey. After he parts with the buffalo, Jumping
Mouse meets with a gray wolf that for some reason cannot remember the simplest
of things. But being the kind mouse that he is, our hero wishes to help and decides
that by giving the wolf his remaining eye it would cure him of his problems. Now
completely giving up his gift of sight is a very difficult thing to ever want to do,
but Jumping Mouse decides that it is better to take care of others in need than him.
The wolf s memory is restored and it can now function again, thanks to the selfless
generosity that the little mouse displayed. And in turn for Mouse s good deed, the
wolf offered to be his eyes and help him continue on his way. Jumping
Mobile Programming And The Market Needs Mobile

Assignment 1
Nansi Surlekova, Student ID: 13006763
Section 1
It is noticeable that the market needs mobile developers. Recently, mobile
programming has grown
10 times faster than desktop programming. Even though this is going on and on for
years now and a lot of people started participating in this area of business, there is
still place for more. After researching a few websites for job opportunities I came
across 3 interesting posts.
The first job is about a Junior Mobile Application Developer. The posts states that
you will be mentored, but still, you need to have enough experience so you can
manage things on your own. The skills required for this position are as expected: A
working knowledge of .NET, C#, Java, HTML5, ... Show more content on

As you can see I am going up, one step at a time. The requirements for this position
are longer than the whole information given in the two previous posts. Do you have
at least 5 years professional software development experience? No. Do you have at
least 3 years professional Android development experience? No. You should have
experience in almost every field that is connected in some way with mobile
development, examples are: Java, Android SDK, Eclipse ADB, Knowledge of
Android specific UI patterns and affordances, IOS, PHP, JQuery etc., oh and let s
not forget about the degree in computer science. So if we say that you become a
Junior developer, wait a few years, then go up to just being a developer and take your
life in your hands by reading books and coding more than you breathe, yes, you
might be able to apply for a position like that in about 30 years.
The chart below sums up the main skills that are required in order to launch your
career in Mobile Development. How does that fit my skill set? Barely. But a good
amount of time and effort can easily fix that. An example of a way to start building
up my skill set is by actually starting to work on an app. At first thought it all seems
scary, to be honest, but if a selected field interests you, everything can be
accomplished. Most required skills

Executive summary
The aim of this report is try to evaluate how the insurance industry has developed in
Brazil since it began its operation in 1808, operating in the begging only with
maritime insurance through company named Boa FГ©. During that time Brazil was
still a colony of Portugal and Boa FГ© Company had the role to insure ships

In 2012, that market grossed U.S. $ 252.4 billion in direct premiums of insurance,
health insurance, pension contributions and savings bonds. Such awards and
contributions served to increase provisions amounting to R$ 420 billion, which
represented 5.69 % of GDP. Provisions have also secured the payment of
compensation of claims, welfare benefits and redemption of pension plans and
capitalization of R $ 135.2 billion in 2012 (3.05% of GDP). The importance of the
sector exceeds, by far, the numeric expression. Indeed, everyday life, as we know
since the Industrial Revolution, would be impossible without insurance. The
companies could not take risks as they do at present, so your investment would be
severely restricted and, with them, the future expansion of the economies. Entire
markets would collapse: just imagine what would happen with the sale of cars, with
the credit market and the trade if there was not the support of insurance. The
insurance industry, increasingly supplements the State in providing critical services
in health and social security, and in doing so, allows the state to focus attention and
resources on meeting the needs of the poorest sectors of the population.
Nowadays The Brazilian insurance industry is living it golden ages. Brazil for the
past two decades has become one of the most attractive places for insurance
Marketing Strategy At The North American Market
Strategy
As we close Q3, we move forward with our plan to expand our offices in the North
American market. Our next office expansion will take place in Chicago. The market
potential in Chicago, for the workhorse computer, is relatively high; in comparison to
our initial other locations such as Los Angeles and Toronto. According to market
research, these markets have great potential to effectively meet customer needs. The
pricing strategy used for Workhorse, which is our first priority product in the
market, is to provide a technologically advanced computer at an affordable price. In
addition, to a good retail price, we will offer a $100 rebate as an incentive to
purchase a Pentabytes workhorse computer.
Brand Design
Our main objective is to increase market potential by designing brands attractive to
Workhorse, Traveler and Innovator segments. The executive team analyzed the
customer needs and use pattern to determine the design. Based on the research, our
firm decided to add a new segment that targets a different clientele. The strategy to
design a desktop computer for our Workhorse customers was based on their top three
preferences of having a computer easy to use, but still does a wide variety of tasks at
a special price deal. We introduced a laptop for our Traveler segment. The idea of the
design is to provide a portable computer that features office applications. We realized
how important is to accommodate their portability concern. Our latest addition is a

Hispanic Population And Its Impact On American Society
The United States Hispanic population is increasing each year. As of 2011,
Hispanics make up nearly 52.0 million of the US population making them the
leading minority group in the United States. From the year 2000 to 2011 alone, there
has been a 37% increase in population. The projection for the year 2050 is 132.8
million (Nora, 2009). In turn, schoolpopulations of Hispanics are increase as well.
Hispanics, although improving academically, continue to have high schooldropout
rates, higher than other racial and ethnic groups and continue to lag behind school
peers. Nearly half of the Hispanicpopulation fails to graduate from high school, 13%
of the population receives their bachelors and an even smaller number of 4% receive
their graduate or professional degree (SepГєlveda, J. 2010). Being the largest
minority group in the US, the Hispanic minority group has become a great impact on
American society. The grand population increase only goes to show how important
the Hispanic population is to the future of the United States. As they become larger,
they will be shaping the future. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the many
influences on Hispanic educational completion in the United States. I will look into
the various aspects of Hispanics that may influence the lag in educational attainment
and factors, which might hinder the retention rate of Hispanic students to stay in
schools. As an immigrant, student, educator, and a grad student, I always believe that
Diction In Seahorses
Poetry is a thing of perspective. By reading and writing poetry, we can look from a
different angle to explore and unlock deeper meaning in even the most everyday
objects and animals. Among many others, this theme of finding intricate beauty in
everyday things is prevalent throughout many of American novelist, essayist and poet
Brad Leithauser s multitude of works. One of the most detailed and elegant
examples of this lies in one of Leithauser s lesser known compositions. In this poem,
which is titled Seahorses (p.98, PoetrySpeaks: who i am), the author invites us below
the waves to witness firsthand an equine wonder that initially appears to be only a
strange looking fish, but turns out to be a haven for exotic beauty and imagination....

Seahorses is a non rhyming poem with seven ten line stanzas, which all prominently
exhibit the poem s four main literary devices: imagery, diction, symbolism and
rhythm. Leithauser s eloquent diction and well placed line and stanza breaks help
to construct a relaxing, peaceful rhythm that creates the elegant feeling of a seahorse
slowly swimming through the azure waters of the ocean. To add a layer of vivid
images to this already enthralling literary canvas, Leithauser uses descriptive
vocabulary, such as sparsity, menagerie and nonsynchronous, to describe the situation
and help the poem appeal to each of the reader s five senses. The most subtle, yet
possibly most impactful literary device displayed in the poem is symbolism.
Leithauser utilizes symbolism throughout the poem to give the poem greater depth
and extract deeper meaning from a topic usually thought of as simple and childish.
Appearing predominantly in the final two stanzas, but present throughout the poem,
Brad Leithauser uses the idea of the seahorse to represent imagination, and the
release that it can present from our every day troubles. This message is embodied by
the poem s final sentence which states, If there s to be any egress for you and me
from the straitening domain of the plausible, what

Making difficult decisions show up in life more often than realized. These choices
can alter a person s life in good and bad ways. The Bicycle by Jillian Horton is a
story that focuses on a young talented pianist named Hannah. Throughout the story
Hannah deals with the strict teachings of her Tante Rose, which leads her to make
ironic decisions. Similarly, in the story Lather and Nothing Else by Hernando Tellez,
the barber undergoes a dilemma in which he must consider his moral values before
making his final decision. Both stories have a protagonist that face conflicts which

Horton and Tellez both portray the theme of making difficult choices in their
stories. The protagonist s in each story consider all their options and think ahead
before making a life changing decision. In the stories The Bicycle and Lather and
Nothing Else both Horton and Tellez use symbolism to portray an overall theme of
making difficult choices. In The Bicycle Hannah has her life completely
controlled by her Tante Rose. She has no freedom because she is forbidden to
break the Sabbath in anyway, and due to Tante Rose s previous traumatic
experience with a bicycle, she is absolutely forbidden to ride one. In the end,
Hannah chooses to go against her aunts wishes and rides a bicycle. She expresses
that she wanted to prove she had some control over her own life (Horton 35). The
bicycle acts as a symbol of freedom; from Hannah breaking the promise she made to
her Tante Rose, to having control of her own life and becoming who she wanted to
be from the start. Likewise, in Lather and Nothing Else the barber untimely had a
choice of being a murderer or hero. The razor blade is one of the most important
symbols because it represents his choice of killing the captain or not. This was how
the barber would determine his future. He says, I was stropping my best blade .
(Tellez 346). My fate hangs on the edge of this razor blade . (Tellez 346). This was a
big moral dilemma for the barber, and at this point he was really choosing what kind
of person he wanted to
Evaluation Of The Treatment Of Wastewater Essay
The disposal of untreated wastewater coming from the industries into the water
bodies will pollute the water bodies because of its high concentrations. So, the
wastewater produced from the industry should be treated properly to meet the
permissible limits given by central and state pollution control boards. Therefore it is
necessary to treat the wastewaterproperly with the help of an appropriate treatment
plant. However, the treatment plant even though properly planned may not work
satisfactory because of several reasons. Hence, it is essential to evaluate the treatment
plant considering individual treatment unit in the entire treatment flow. In the present
work emphasis has been given to the study of the performance of treatment facilities
because of its importance in the conventional treatment of wastewater. Hence, the
literature review related to the evaluation of the entire treatment process along with
biological treatment process particularly suspended growth process Activated Sludge
Process (ASP), attached growth process Trickling Filter (TF) and a combination of
the both suspended and attached growth process Hybrid Reactor (HR) is presented in

Fats in the American Diet Essay
Fats in the American Diet There has been a myth in our society for the last few
decades about fats. Ever since the USDA created the food pyramid in the early 80
s, the feeling towards fats has been that all types are bad for one s health and should
be consumed at a minimum. However, more recent studies have shown that not all
fats are detrimental, and some are necessary in maintaining healthy bodies. Certain
types are helpful for reducing the risk of cancer, high cholesterol, and heart disease.
Without fats the body could not absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K because they help
move the supplements into the bloodstream where the vitamins get absorbed
(Graham par. 2). Simple actions like a regular consumption of nuts, helps aid in

Foods with high fat content were placed at the top of the pyramid and said to be
consumed at a minimum. Foods with lots of carbohydrates were situated at the
bottom and became the basis for the American diet. In turn, the obesity rates for our
country sky rocketed. Now it is believed that some types of fats are good for the
body and one of these is monounsaturated fats. There are two types of unsaturated
fats, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. All fats are composed of long carbon
chains with a maximum of two hydrogen atoms attached to each carbon.
Monounsaturated fats have one hydrogen atom missing from the carbon chain while
polyunsaturated fats have two missing (Good Fats par. 3). Polyunsaturated fats
come in two types, omega 3 and 6, and these types will be looked at later.
Monounsaturated fats are not essential fatty acids (EFA s) because the body can
make this form from other fats and are commonly found in most of fat rich foods.
Otherwise, essential fats must be consumed through the diet. Monounsaturated fats
can be found in cooking oils like canola, olive, peanut, and almond. Foods with
higher levels of monounsaturated fats are nuts, peanut butter, meat, olives, and
avocados. There are many positive aspects of monounsaturated fats that were not
realized years ago. Monounsaturated fatty acids lower total cholesterol, but more
importantly, it lowers low density lipoproteins (LDL s) which is considered the bad

Political Risks And Its Effects On Local Activity
Political risks:
All companies doing business domestically or internationally are affected by
political issues and risks the likelihood that a society will undergo political changes
that negatively affect local activity. In many different ways, politics are a huge factor
for the willing of two sides to cooperate and trust one another. (International business
book)
When comes to technology transfer, companies have to take the risks of politics
under consideration before sharing information which can harm them in the future.
There are four main risks that have to be observed. The first risk refers to the local
conflicts in one of the participating countries. Conflicts can discourage companies to
invest in a nation with no local security consistency from the fear of inability to
manufacture, regulation changes, recruiting talented personal or obtaining different
kinds of materials, equipment and information (book 2). Conflicted countries can
arise resentment to the government by the people who will attempt to change the
leadership of a country. The conflicts do not apply only on government resemblance
but also on disputes among ethnic, religious or racial groups within a country
(book3). There are many examples for economies that who lost their stability
according to these differences. In 2014, Egypt s persistent political unrest has held
back necessary business environment reforms in areas, such as infrastructure, labor
market and tax policy. Also, the risk of crime and

not seem to be bothered by the fact that there is not a pay increase because they
still maintain high productivity. While other employee s struggle to establish the
flow of the work environment; which can be causing a decrease in work
satisfaction. This can be a question of their knowledge, skills, and abilities to
perform the job at hand. Wesley, a backyard foremen for eight years, is highly

amount of time that others have not but still maintains high productivity. While there

Life and Leadership of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was born to Thomas and Nancy (nee Hanks) Lincoln in Sinking
Spring Farm, Kentucky on February 12, 1809 in a cabin in the backwoods three
miles south of Hodgenville (McPherson). His family lived meagerly with his clothes
being fashioned from the skins of animals his fathers shot down. He helped his
parents around the house weeding the garden, bringing in firewood and water,
gathering wild grapes from the woods, and helping to sow seeds at planting time
(Thomas, 2008). Years later when Lincoln was running for Presidency of the United
States, a campaign biographer, John Locke Scripps, asked him about his childhood
years in Kentucky. Without hesitating, Lincoln replied: Why, Scripps, it is a great
piece of folly to attempt to make anything out of my early life. It can all be
condensed into a single sentence and that sentence you will find in Gray s elegy The
short and simple annals of the poor (2008). In the spring of 1811, the Lincoln family
moved to a farm in Knob Creek the first home that Lincoln states remembering.
There was a trail the Cumberland Trail that ran from Louisville to Nashville close to
their farm on which pioneers with wagons and driven livestock headed for the
Northwest. There were also peddlers with their wares, preachers, and lines of slaves
all tied together following their masters (Thomas, 2008). There were not many slaves
that lived around Lincoln s farm mainly because of the sentiment among the
Methodists and particular the Baptists,
Chrysler s New Culture And Its Impact On The Mangers
2.To me the new culture change in Chrysler made a major impact on the mangers.
They had to step up and make sure the rest of the employees were up to par. One way
mangers understood Chryslers new culture was the competing values framework
better known as CVF. Competing values framework is a way for mangers to
understand, measure, and change organizational culture. (Citation).Within the CVF
there are four types of cultures. They are Clan, Adhocracy, hierarchy, and market.
Within the Chrysler organization all could be possessed but there is always going to
be one that overpowers the others. When Marchionne started the new culture change
he broke it down into dimensions. In dimension 1 it focused on Marchionne primary
goal of profitability.
The Negative Effects Of Nicotine
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI, 2010),
smoking is the act of in taking smoke from burned tobacco into the body by inhaling.
Tobacco is an herbaceous plant typically grown in South America (Health and Human
Services [H HS], 2016). This plant contains a stimulant called Nicotine. The use of
tobaccois the cause of many preventable health problems according to the National
Institution of Health (NIH, 2015).Tobacco products are used by every ethnicity,
gender, and most age groups.
The most potent ingredient in tobacco products is Nicotine (NIH, 2015). Nicotine is
highly addictive and commonly found in potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and

tobacco. Nicotine can be used as a stimulant or a relaxant (NIH, 2015). The effects
vary based upon the choice of intake. Once nicotine enters the bloodstream it causes
the body to release a hormone; adrenalin. Adrenalin then causes an accelerated heart

The use of tobacco been proven to causes and contributes to health problems. Making
this drug will illegal will make it less convenient for individual of all ethnicities to
purchase. I would also recommend that African American public health officials go
out into the African American communities and explain the dangers of smokingto
individuals face to face.
The herbaceous plant tobacco is grown in South America, but today it can be found
all around the world. This plant contains a significant amount of Nicotine, which
stimulants the human body when ingested. Tobacco is a legalized drug with miner
distribution regulations. Tobacco largest sales market is females, the youth, and
African Americans. The use of tobacco is the cause of many preventable health
problems. Tobacco products affect not only the people of African American ethnicity,

State Board Of Education Case Study
The learning environment that ELL students have in the classroom has been
impacted by the history of laws and bills passed by the board of education. Many
school districts all over the United States are experiencing an increase in the
enrollment of students who cannot speak, read, or write English in order to fully
participate in their education. Numerous pieces in history took action in order to
prevent these learners from risking their loss of opportunities. The Civil Rights
Act of 1964 prevents discrimination based on a person s race, color, or nationality.
In Lau v. Nichols of 1974, the Supreme Court stated that school districts have to
take steps in order to help ELL students conquer language barriers and to enable
them to participate fully in the districts educational programs. The case of Plyler vs.
Doe 1982 stated that no school or school district may have the ability to forbid
immigrant children the access to public education. No Child Left Behind (2001):
Accountability, AYP, and standardized tests for ELLs. The 1990 legal document is a
force that outlines the identification, services, and compliance of school districts to
ensure equal and comprehensible instruction to ELLs. The document was signed on
August 14, 1990 into the District Court. This act was the result of a class action
complaint filed on behalf of eight minority rights advocacy groups in Florida. They
claimed that The State Board of Education had not complied with its obligations
under federal and
Similarities Between A Midsummer Night s Dream And
Othello
Shakespeare is credited as coining the phrase green eyed monster when referring to
jealousy, so it goes without questioning that jealousy is a theme that recurs
throughout his career as a playwright. While jealousy is a prominent theme in both
Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream and Othello, but the two plays retain
their own identities. Both plays feature jealousybetween lovers, jealousy in
friendship, and male anxiety relating to cuckoldry. It is within these subsets that
readers are able to understand the idea that Shakespeare is putting forth: jealousy in
and of itself is a possessive emotion that threatens the person who feels it on a level
of self worth. It is best to begin by defining what jealousy exactly is. While there was

In A Midsummer Night s Dream, when the characters are discussing their jealousies
they often do in rhyming verse, unlike in Othello. For instance, when Helena decides
to inform Demetrius of Hermia and Lysander s flight she airs her jealousies
towards Hermia, How happy some o er some can be! / Through Athens I am
thought as fair as she (1.1.226 227). She latches onto her jealousy as she continues
in her plan to thwart the errant lovers, I will go tell him of Hermia s flight. / Then to
the woods will he tomorrow night / Pursue her (1.1.246 248). Throughout this entire
monologue, Helena speaks in rhyming verse, which lends itself to a more light
hearted speech and that is transferred to her motive, which is unlike the jealousy
employed by Iago in Othello. In act one, scene one When Iago explains his initial
jealousy toward Cassio, he does so in blank verse. Shakespeare often used blank
verse when he wished his characters to project a sense of loftiness. Iago s self
righteousness can be seen within that same passage. Iago recounts the battles he and
Othello fought in together and later how Preferment goes by letter and affection,
/ And not by old gradation, where each second / Stood heir to th first
Similarities Between The Captivity And Slave Narrative
The captivity narrative and the slave narrative are two types of literary works, which
were very common during the 17th and the 18th century. The captivity narrative
usually involves an innocent white woman who is taken captive by an Indian tribe,
who the woman describes as savages in most of the cases. On the other hand, the
slave narrative focuses on the quality of life that slaves were facing before the time of
the abolishment of slavery. Although the captivity narrativeand the slave narrative
show some similarities, they are completely different. We can observe the differences
by analyzing two literary works, A Narrative of The Captivity and Restoration of
Mrs. Mary Rowlandsonby Mary Rowlandson and From The Interesting Narrative of
the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavas Vassa, the African, Written by Himself by
Olaudah Equiano. A Narrative of The Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary
Rowlandson is a narrative written by Mary Rowlandson herself, which sheds light on
her own experiences revolving captivity. The Interesting Narrative of The Life of
Olaudah Equiano gives the reader insight into the life of a slave, the treatments they
endure, and usually their freedom, whether it be through escaping or other means.
Both narratives usually include real life accounts, however, the differences lie in the
structure of the narrative, the purpose that the narrative is trying to lay out and the
treatment of the parties who are living these experiences. To begin, the

One of his most famous poems is titled A Road Not Taken . Frost was born on

College. After a short amount of time, Frost left college and began working. He went

The Importance Of A Valuable Tool For Mental Skills And...
Mindful breathing teaches how to quiet the everlasting dialogue that truly ravages our
brain. It is really simplification of the present without thoughts about the past, the
future, or any baggage in between. Simply just breathing deeply while focusing on
each breath is mindful breathing. The end result is better mental clarity, focus, and
increased physical and mental performance benefiting athletes, students, pilots, and
businessmen, to name a few. This discussion covers: reasons why to conduct this
valuable tool to enhance mental skills and improve health, mindful breathingin sports,
techniques on how to conduct it, and my personal experience and suggestions.
Why conduct mindful breathing? It clears the mind allowing one to shed unnecessary
and distracting thoughts, thereby reducing the low grade anxiety associated with the
monkey mind that constantly involves itself in planning, catastrophizing, or wishing
for something different. Taking time to be in the moment with a short break allows
the brain s muscle to recover and recharge. This improves one s job performance to
include sports and academics, enhances relationships, and can help one fall asleep
faster. Health benefits include a stronger immune system due to less stress and lower
blood pressure, less skin issues from psoriasis, and less symptoms associated with
lung disease plus mindful breathing reduces stress on the heart.
Mindful breathing in sports. This mental training tool has been used since

  • 4. Is Music Amoral Essay Is music moral or amoral? Many people in the world today will tell you that it is amoral, but is that true? Well, before we answer that question, let us look at what the words moral and amoral mean. According to The New Oxford American Dictionary, the definition of amoral is neutral, lacking a moral sense, or unconcerned with the rightness or wrongness of something, while the word moral means concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior, and the goodness or the badness of the human character. Therefore, when someone says that music is amoral, they are stating that music has no grasp, or affect on us, and that it s just something we listen to. That it is neutral. But, if that is true, then why does the sound and beat of certain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is proven in the Bible in I Sam. 16:16, 23 16. Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well. 23. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him. Another example of music being moral is how music affects people physically. The type of rhythm and beat in music is what makes us want to move. For example, good music might make us want to move our extremities; our hands, arms, legs, and feet. A tap of the foot, a march at a football game, or in the army, or the air force. It makes us feel happy and joyous. Whereas bad music can make us want to sway, clap our hands to the beat, and move sexually. This type of music appeals to our body rather than our spirit. It can make us feel anger, and even at times may give us a sense of numbness and hypnosis. Unfortunately, some of the most popular genres in music today namely rock and rap are full of nothing but explicit, vulgar and sexual words, and the wrong type of rhythm, beat, and sounds. As Christians, we should want to avoid this kind

The Parti Quebecois has implemented their own charter called Bill 60 in order amend the current Canada Charter of Rights and Freedoms which is entrenched in the Constitution of Canada. If this proposed bill were to be passed, it will cause many problems amongst the citizens of Quebecin terms of diversity as it will be banning some of the most important guaranteed rights stated in the Constitution: Freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Although there are positives to a secular state, there are also a few negatives if you were to look closely. Citizens moved to places like Canadato practice their freedom, not to have them taken away. Taking away these rights could start separatist groups and maybe even start wars within the province of Quebec. The reason why this bill is being proposed it that they Parti Quebecois would like to see more equality between men and women (cbc.ca). There really is no reason for this bill to be passed as it shows how weak Quebec is mainly because they are afraid of losing their own culture. The Quebec government has proposed a secular charter, which has sparked another debate from local, provincial and federal politicians. Designing A New Branch Leader After reading Chapter 9 and looking back on my time spent working two summers at a grain elevator which also had its own agronomy department (using science and technology to help produce better crop yields), it became noticeably clearer that the company I was working for was making arrangements to hire a new branch leader. The elevator that I worked for was one of two branches for the larger company. The company has three branch managers along with a person in charge of overseeing the entire operation. My first summer the branch that I was working for hired a recent college graduate to aid the current branch manager with the day to day operations of the company. He was asked to have his hand in everything that took place within our branch of the company. Working three months that summer, I got to see the development procedures that they were putting him through. During the death phase, the number of viable cells decreases geometrically (exponentially), essentially the reverse of growth during the log phase. During the lag phase there is no increase in cell numbers, although the bacteria are synthesizing enzymes present in their environment in preparation for the exponential phase. During the exponential or logarithmic phase, the bacterial population grows at a rate that doubles the population during the generation time. The stationary phase incurs neither an increase nor a decrease in the cell population. The population growth cannot continue at the exponential rate since the nutrient supplies have been depleted and waste products have accumulated. We use the concept of industry wage premiums which measures how much more or less relative to the average a given industry pays to its workers after controlling for individual workers characteristics and other confounding factors. Methodologically, the wage premium is estimated from a regression equation which defines the wage of workers as a function of their observed characteristics, such as education, age, experience and others, and industry dummy indicators. The coefficients of industry indicators represent industry wage premiums. In the research article The Relationship between Number of Fruits, Vegetables, and Noncore Foods Tried at Age 14 Months and Food Preferences, Dietary Intake Patterns, Fussy Eating Behavior, and Weight Status at Age 3.7 Years by Mallan, Fildes, Magarey, and Daniels, they study the exposure to higher amounts of vegetables, noncore foods (low nutrients) and fruits at 14 months of age to see if it is connected to the consumption of these foods, as well as to the child s preference for these foods. The authors also study these higher exposures to fruits, noncore foods and vegetables to see if it relates to weight at age 3.7 and fear of new food. Moreover, they proposed the idea that; Early food texture and taste experiences effect acceptance and preference of food. Further, the authors study these exposures to fruits and vegetables at 14 months of age because the eatingbehaviors and food preferences of a child will be developing during that time, which will be important for the formation of the child s diet patterns. In addition, the formation of the child s diet patterns has suggestions as to whether or not the child will develop an unhealthy weight. Furthermore, the authors study people s understanding of early feeding experiences, and examine children s early food exposure (Mallan, Fildes, Magarey, Daniels, 2015). To determine acceptance and preference of food, the authors examine children s early feeding experiences and mother s knowledge of early feeding experiences.

Kant lays out a critique on cognition and employs the category of Matter and Form to address it, and it is not the consciousness of the determining self, but only that of the determinable self, (B 407). He introduces four paralogisms, the first states that in every judgment I am always the determining subject of the relation to the judgment. Because when applying the transcendental topic it is our capacity to think in an a priori reality, that allows humans to have self consciousness. Kant thinks this is a reflection, the self consciousness that constitutes the logical form and unity in a thought. That the I exist thinking is empirical and is determinable due to his presence in space in

There are so many issues that cause homelessness in the LGBT community such as discrimination in religious communities, lack of support from families and rejection from society. But in a world where these issues are all around us, how can we solve this? It starts with every individual to just stop and maybe educate themselves on this unique youth community and the struggles they must face to bring in equality. A debate has recently arisen; are hybrid automobiles that much more fuel efficient than the average car, and is the higher sticker price worth the investment? Questions have also been asked about the hope of reducing environmental pollution. Are government rebates and dealer incentives worth the additional investment of purchasing these higher priced cars? What is the adoption rate among consumers to these automobiles? Gas mileage can be defined as: how many miles a car or truck can travel on one gallon of gasoline (Marland English, 2015). As fossil fuels continue to be depleted, our civilization must look at cost efficient ways to accomplish daily tasks. Hybrid cars use a combination of the gasoline engine with electronic motors to achieve a number of objectives. This differs from the new totally electricity powered cars that run on charged batteries. According to www.fueleconomy.gov; a vehicle that gets 30 MPG will cost you $545 less to fuel each year than one that gets 20 MPG, assuming 15000 miles of driving annually and a fuel cost of $2.18 ( Save Money , 2015). Over time this can lead to huge savings in fuel costs to the average consumer. As oil prices continue to rise and fall, a more fuel efficient car could provide some comfort to the financially stressed customer. A person must take into consideration if the savings in fuel costs are worth the higher investment price of a hybrid. On average,

In 2012, that market grossed U.S. $ 252.4 billion in direct premiums of insurance, health insurance, pension contributions and savings bonds. Such awards and contributions served to increase provisions amounting to R$ 420 billion, which represented 5.69 % of GDP. Provisions have also secured the payment of compensation of claims, welfare benefits and redemption of pension plans and capitalization of R $ 135.2 billion in 2012 (3.05% of GDP). The importance of the sector exceeds, by far, the numeric expression. Indeed, everyday life, as we know since the Industrial Revolution, would be impossible without insurance. The companies could not take risks as they do at present, so your investment would be severely restricted and, with them, the future expansion of the economies. Entire markets would collapse: just imagine what would happen with the sale of cars, with the credit market and the trade if there was not the support of insurance. The insurance industry, increasingly supplements the State in providing critical services in health and social security, and in doing so, allows the state to focus attention and resources on meeting the needs of the poorest sectors of the population. Nowadays The Brazilian insurance industry is living it golden ages. Brazil for the past two decades has become one of the most attractive places for insurance

  • 35. Diction In Seahorses Poetry is a thing of perspective. By reading and writing poetry, we can look from a different angle to explore and unlock deeper meaning in even the most everyday objects and animals. Among many others, this theme of finding intricate beauty in everyday things is prevalent throughout many of American novelist, essayist and poet Brad Leithauser s multitude of works. One of the most detailed and elegant examples of this lies in one of Leithauser s lesser known compositions. In this poem, which is titled Seahorses (p.98, PoetrySpeaks: who i am), the author invites us below the waves to witness firsthand an equine wonder that initially appears to be only a strange looking fish, but turns out to be a haven for exotic beauty and imagination.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Seahorses is a non rhyming poem with seven ten line stanzas, which all prominently exhibit the poem s four main literary devices: imagery, diction, symbolism and rhythm. Leithauser s eloquent diction and well placed line and stanza breaks help to construct a relaxing, peaceful rhythm that creates the elegant feeling of a seahorse slowly swimming through the azure waters of the ocean. To add a layer of vivid images to this already enthralling literary canvas, Leithauser uses descriptive vocabulary, such as sparsity, menagerie and nonsynchronous, to describe the situation and help the poem appeal to each of the reader s five senses. The most subtle, yet possibly most impactful literary device displayed in the poem is symbolism. Leithauser utilizes symbolism throughout the poem to give the poem greater depth and extract deeper meaning from a topic usually thought of as simple and childish. Appearing predominantly in the final two stanzas, but present throughout the poem, Brad Leithauser uses the idea of the seahorse to represent imagination, and the release that it can present from our every day troubles. This message is embodied by the poem s final sentence which states, If there s to be any egress for you and me from the straitening domain of the plausible, what

The protagonist s in each story consider all their options and think ahead before making a life changing decision. In the stories The Bicycle and Lather and Nothing Else both Horton and Tellez use symbolism to portray an overall theme of making difficult choices. In The Bicycle Hannah has her life completely controlled by her Tante Rose. She has no freedom because she is forbidden to break the Sabbath in anyway, and due to Tante Rose s previous traumatic experience with a bicycle, she is absolutely forbidden to ride one. In the end, Hannah chooses to go against her aunts wishes and rides a bicycle. She expresses that she wanted to prove she had some control over her own life (Horton 35). The bicycle acts as a symbol of freedom; from Hannah breaking the promise she made to her Tante Rose, to having control of her own life and becoming who she wanted to be from the start. Likewise, in Lather and Nothing Else the barber untimely had a choice of being a murderer or hero. The razor blade is one of the most important symbols because it represents his choice of killing the captain or not. This was how the barber would determine his future.
