Jet streams and ocean currents were discussed. Jet streams are fast flowing air currents found near the transition between the troposphere and stratosphere, and are caused by the planet's rotation and atmospheric heating. The main jet streams on Earth flow west to east. Ocean currents are directed movements of ocean water generated by various forces, and can flow for great distances, influencing climate patterns. Examples given were the Gulf Stream making Northwest Europe warmer, and the Humboldt Current cooling Peru.
