Future Career Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of one's future career can be both an enlightening and
challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the task of articulating personal aspirations
but also in the need to delve into a thoughtful analysis of one's skills, passions, and the ever-
evolving landscape of the professional world.
The challenge begins with introspection, as the writer must navigate the intricate maze of self-
awareness to identify and articulate their goals. This involves contemplating not only the
obvious professional paths but also the nuances of personal inclinations and values. Balancing
these elements while maintaining a coherent narrative can be akin to walking a tightrope.
Furthermore, predicting the future career landscape adds an extra layer of complexity. Rapid
technological advancements, shifting economic trends, and the emergence of novel industries
make it a daunting task to anticipate what the professional world will look like in the years to
come. A successful essay must incorporate an understanding of these dynamic factors,
showcasing adaptability and foresight.
Additionally, expressing these thoughts in a structured and compelling manner is another hurdle.
The essay must captivate the reader, weaving together a story that is both unique and relatable.
The challenge lies not just in conveying the aspirations but in doing so with eloquence and
authenticity, striking a balance between confidence and humility.
In conclusion, composing a future career essay is a demanding task that requires a delicate
interplay of self-reflection, awareness of current trends, and the ability to articulate one's
thoughts effectively. It is a journey into the unknown, as the future is inherently uncertain. Yet, it
is through this exploration that individuals gain insights into their aspirations and contribute to
the evolving narrative of their professional lives.

Child Soldiers Research Paper
Today, children suffer serious human rights abuses and are victims of wars they do
not even understand. Militant forces target and forcefully recruit children through the
use of such weapons as torture and drugs. Members of the militant forces commit
gender based violence against women, and girls are forced into prostitution and
sexual slavery (Fonseka, p. 69). These are only some of the many abuses against
children. International law attempts to protect children from the effects and
inhumanity of armed conflicts. But, there is intentional victimization of children and
ignored their human rights. In the last decade, armed conflicts has killed over two
million children, disabled about five million children and left twelve million children
homeless.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, children can use Modern weapons like the M16 and AK 47 just as effectively
as adults because weapons are inexpensive, light and simple enough for children to
carry and use. Further, children are drugged by the militant leaders in preparation for
conflicts. Children are transformed into soldiers and their childhood is taken away.
Some children choose to join militant groups, which contributes to the continuing use
of child soldiers. Poverty, the lack of education, and vulnerability are some reasons
why children take part in militia groups as a solution to these problems. Militant
groups become a surrogate family by providing food and shelter in exchange for
military training. The armed groups offered a type of kinship for children who had
lost their family in a chaotic world that they did not understand. Because they are
so young and vulnerable, they tend to be fearless, have not yet developed an adult
s sense of self defense, and are less able to assess the dangers of combat. Also,
children join militia groups in order to survive, defeat the feelings of helplessness,
sometime to seek vengeance or to protect their families or simply lack of a better
alternative. This last reason is important in order to understand the so called
voluntary recruitment of many children. What child volunteers simply seek, is a less
shaky alternative to an very unsafe

Community Description
This study will be focusing on students of California State University, Northridge
(CSUN). This campus is located in the center of the city of Northridge which has a
population of over 57,000 (U.S. Census, 2000). According to Mapping L.A., It is
considered as highly diverse city . The median household income in Northridge is
$67,906 in 2008. Next, in education, 34.9 percent of adult residents have at least a
four year degree. Lastly, the median age of the population is 32 years old (Mapping
L.A., n.d.).
CSUN is majorly a commuter school, meaning most students come from many
surrounding cities. It is a public university that offers an array of different bachelor s
degrees, master s degrees, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A survey conducted by Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) says, on
average, from the school years 2009 2010 to 2014 2015, there was an increase of
29.6 percent of students seeking for mental health services. In return, demand for on
campus counselors is not being met by most colleges. Students frequently complain
about the long waits in scheduling appointments, as analyzed by the CCMH
(Kingkade, 2016). For example, in the University of Washington the wait time ranges
from two to three weeks, while in the University of Florida the wait time is at two
weeks. Two to three weeks is similar to appointment wait time with private health care
providers, but when it comes to mental health problems among college students who
may be away from home without a support system, time is brutal.
Target Population An intercept survey was conducted on a small percentage of
CSUN students. The participants were asked a series of questions that touch on
awareness, knowledge on symptoms, experience with symptoms, and resources.
Majority of the participants expressed that they have experienced symptoms of
depression but have not been diagnosed with depression or do not consider
themselves as depressed. Some participants have disclosed that they experiencing or
have experienced depression was due to the combination of financial difficulties,
stress from school, and relationship problems.

Aokigahara Research Paper
Located at the base of Mt. Fuji, Aokigahara is perhaps the most infamous forest in
all of Japan. Also known as the Sea of Trees, Suicide Forest, and Japan s Demon
Forest, Aokigahara has been home to over 500 confirmed suicides since the 1950s .
The Aokigahara forest has a horrifying history, a variety of different people who
visit, also locals and workers have it worse than people think.
The history of Aokigahara is horrifying. Even before now, as Aokigahara being
known as the suicide forest, it was a place people would take their family members to
strand them in the forest to be sacrificed. A method of sacrificing yourself in the
forest was starving. The forest is so large, and the people wouldn t be able to find a

The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate
the forest. The workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from
the forest to the local station, where the bodies are put in a special room used
specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers then play janken, rock
paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason for
these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone,
it s very bad luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream
throughout the night if left alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around,
searching for company . The people who live by always know what type of person
is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones, just the visitors,
and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no
longer released due to the abundant amount. Last number released was in 2010 and
the number was 54 dead and 247 people who tried. The people who work in the
little shops and cafes around Aokigahara talk to many of the people before they go
in. People have said if they wouldn t have talked to them, they would not be alive.

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
Many debt collectors continue to use deceptive, unfair and abusive practices to
obtain money owed to a company. It is believed these practices lead to marital
instability, job losses, individual privacy invasions and personal bankruptcies, and
many feel protections in place fail to protect consumers. For this reason, the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) was put into place. Laws do vary by state, yet debt
collectors in every state must comply with this act when attempting to collect these
monies. For this reason, many turn to an attorney specializing in Collections Law for
assistance when they need to obtain compensation for an unpaid debt. One must be
aware, however, that this practice does not apply to commercial debt.

A Look At The Evolution Of Microsoft Windows
Three Decades of Looking Through Windows: A Look at the Evolution of
Microsoft Windows While Microsoft Windows may not be the first operating
system to have been invented, it is arguably the most popular one out there. It
started very slowly in 1985 with its first release of Windows 1.0 and has grown
immensely in functionality and usability since then. As the system has evolved, it
has influenced many areas of the industry including how we work, how we play,
and how we build hardware and software. Windows 10 will be the next release and
will occur in 2015. This release will mark another milestone for the operating
system with emphasis placed on merging the gap between tablets and desktop PCs,
cloud computing, and platform unification. While Microsoft is looking to the
future with this release, there are also some elements of the past it plans to bring
back; elements that users have grown to know and love such as the Start menu.
Windows had humble beginnings. It wasn t until the release of version 3.0 that it
really started to take off and become a ubiquitous product in the consumer and
business world. Windows 1.0 arrived in 1985, ten years after the formation of
Microsoft, the company that created it. It was preceded by MS DOS, a command
line based, single process operating system. MS DOS s main goal was to create
software that manages, or runs, the computer hardware and also serves to bridge the
gap between the computer hardware and programs, such as a word processor.
Similarities Between The Vow And The Dybbuk
In the films The Vow, directed by Henryk Szaro, and The Dybbuk, written by S.
Ansky, the creators of both works describe a classic story of a promise between two
fathers to wed their unborn children together. The Vow and The Dybbuk begin with
this promise, but unfortunately in each film one of the fathers dies before the
promise is fulfilled. Ultimately, the children find each other but are posed with
troubling complications that prevent them from being together and having the
promise fulfilled. Through the similar plot structures, there are evident similarities
between the two films, but there are also differences among the methods that both
writers used to approach the story. The creators represent these similarities and
differences in The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In regards to costume, both films were similar through the representation of Polish
nobility with their traditional outfit of a long robe. Because of the prominence of this
traditional form of clothing, both films have an emphasis on the traditional values of
society as represented through the older generation depicted in the films. However, in
both films, the younger generation conflicted with this orthodox culture in that they
tried to separate from the traditional values. For example, in The Vow, Jacob broke
away from many of his values in his time in Vilnius through performing activities
such as changing his clothing after receiving criticism from the more modern
society (The Vow, 0:35:48). In The Dybbuk, Khannon also rejects similar cultural
values by rejecting God and accepting Satan after not being able to wed Leah (The
Dybbuk, 1:01:10). The moral conflict within these characters supports the message of
intergenerational conflict between the orthodox Yiddish culture and this new arising
Yiddish culture through the use of costumes and surroundings of the characters. Not
only was this cultural conflict present in the film, but it was also present in the life
of S. Ansky who wrote The Dybbuk. S. Ansky had resided in a town where he would
provide books for the local children to read
Swing Music Essay example
Swing Music
During the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties a certain style of music became
very popular. This style of music became known as swing . It was performed using
rhythmic riffs and is referred to a style of dance and band arrangements. America
maintained swing s popularity throughout the World War Two years when both
large and small ensembles toured Army and Navy camps both at home and abroad.
At home, swing was heard at bond sale rallies and community concerts. The new
sub culture of women workers also adapted boogie woogie and other novelty and
jive styles. There are two forms of swing; performed swing and recorded swing.
Recorded swing was stricter, and performed swing allowed much more improvisation.

A popular form is the Smooth Lindy, which is basically a Lindy with no kicking
patterns or Charleston.
East Coast swing, otherwise known as the Jitterbug is another type of swing dancing.
It is more social and less acrobatic. Although this style of swing is what most people
learn at first, it is not really a swing era dance. (This dance is learned as, One and
two, three and four, rock step. ) Most swing dance had an eight count rhythm.
(Counting to eight, with each beat equal to one step.) With the evolution of the 12
bar blues, however, the jitterbug lost two counts and became the dance of early
rock and roll. It is taught as a swing dance, however, because it is much easier to
grasp than the Lindy. This dance was not created until the 1950 s. The version that is
taught most often is done to fast big band music and is also called East Coast Swing.
Another type of swing is West Coast Swing. It is a six count or eight count dance
where the man moves the woman in a straight line, the slot , while he steps out of the
way, instead of the circular patterns of the Lindy Hop. The dance is also danced to
much slower music than East Coast which allows for more time for intricate steps
and synchronized movements between partners.
Hand Dancing is another type of swing dancing. This dance developed in the D.C.
area in Wahsington s African American community. It was developed in the
Martin Luther King Jr s Letter From The Birmingham Jail
The Civil Rights movement has aimed to gain rights for African Americans for
decades. Over the course of the semester we have looked at movement s that have
helped advocate for civil rights. One of the movements of that we looked at
specifically in class was Martin L. King Jr s movement and his Letter from the
Birmingham Jail . In this letter, we hear Dr. King s honest opinion about the
criticism he received from his opponents of timely protest. We gain a lot of insight
about King s honest opinion about his political motivations of his movements and
why he felt that it was critical to act when he did. Another movement that we
discussed but didn t directly look at was the Black Panther Party. An outside article
that discusses the Black... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With stagnation there would be no awareness to a social issue. Looking further into
King s letter, another crucial point that he brought up is that without significant
activism the oppressing party would never give up what they wanted them to. Also,
to make the problem politically present they had to present the problem in a way in
which everybody would see the growing tensions in the community. This is later
talked about in King s direct action program with him creating an issue that makes for
a political change. He felt that the direct action would create direct changes to the
current problem. A crucial point that really brought me to an emotional thought is
when King mentioned his daughter crying. The mention of his daughter and her not
being able to go to theme parks was an upsetting moment. This point brought up a
relatable perspective that added a unique thought to his argument. In summary King
makes some very relatable points that when looking back now make s us see how he
really helped move the civil rights movement along and cause real change for black
communities.
Looking at the outside article of Black Panther Party: 1966 1982 by Michael X.
Delli Carpini we see that the Black Panther Party did not share the same exact ideals
as Dr. King. Although they did advocate strongly for equal rights for black
communities they did not have the same patience that Martin Luther King had. The

Struggle Of Family And War
Struggle of Family and War
Our family life was pretty good. My husband Anthony would go to work and the
kids played. But that didn t last for long. I had to pay taxes for things like sugar
and documents and if that didn t put me into debt then there was the tea act and
that angered us all because we already paid tax and now tea! Even though it is way
less of tax I could be a trick. We don t even get Representation so why are we
paying these taxes! Thankfully we have the Sons of Liberty to show Britain to back
off and we formed a unity with the colonies called the Committees of
Correspondence . But even that did not last. Shortly after, Britain banned the
Committees of Correspondence and what affected me most was that they forced us
to buy the tea and if we didn t they would close the Boston harbor.
My husband says, we don t need to pay for the tea we can wait for others to pay for
the tea and then get the thing we want. But that is not what I do first of all I need
my tea, and second I feel like I should help the other people to pay for the tea. You
thought this was it? Well it s not, there was then the Townshend act which let british
soldiers live in out house and take all of our things. This just got my family into debt,
deep debt.
Today my family still is in debt and I still can t pay it off and now when my two
little girls want something I have to say no, but they don t cry or throw a fit they
just frown and look outside. They re smart little kids and I
Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig
Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what
is good for us. According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure
experienced. Although there are some hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure,
in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that values pleasurefelt from inside, i.e.,
hedonismas a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has met quite a numbers
of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by Robert
Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought
experiment about an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate
weapon to knockdown hedonism (Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts
made to defend hedonism from this objection. Few of these responses will be
discussed to determine if they are able to successfully overcome Nozick s objection.
Pleasure and pain mentioned will automatically refer to the intrinsic sensations, not
physical activity nor as external... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reality matter intrinsically to us because it acquaints us with experiences that makes
us feel pain and pleasure from inside. The experiences that Nozick s machine offers
are deceptions because the machine fools us into thinking that we are actually
experiencing pleasure. The illusion of being a great soccer player when you are not
talented may be good for you at the moment. But it is better to face the truth and
pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more pleasure
in long run. Deception ultimately result in pain. So, spending a lifetime plugged to
the machine would give more pain than pleasure. Therefore, people choose reality
over experience machine because reality could provide more pleasure than the
experience machine. Nozick is wrong for indicating that there are other things that
matters more than
My First Time Canvassing
On Monday, September 26th, I worked in Crystal s office and went canvassing.
While in her office, I sorted through a long list of people and individually wrote
down the name and numbers of those who signed up for canvassing. I then called
every person who signed up and invited them to the canvassing party that took
place on Saturday from 2 5pm. This was my first time making phone calls. Since I
did not prepare a script, the first phone call I made was a little rough. As I
continued to make phone calls, I started to feel more comfortable and knew
exactly what to say. Most of the people I called, either didn t answer or had other
plans. This task helped me discover a hidden talent; I am good at talking to people
over the phone. Once Crystal got back from a meeting, we started canvassing. This
was my first time canvassing alone and I must say, it was a little rough. I
canvassed in precinct 16c which is the north side of Springfield. I noticed that
although there were a few nice homes in the area, most of the homes were a little
run down. Since I am from Saint Louis, this is not that much of a shock to me.
Crystal referred the precinct I was canvassing in as the hood. I had to laugh a little
because although the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

totally disagree with him. On the Brightside, he told me that I am doing a great job

Essay On California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush began on January 24, 1848, when gold was found by
James W. Marshall at Sutter s Mill in Coloma, California. The first to hear
confirmed information of the gold rush were the people in Oregon, the Sandwich
Islands, and Latin America, and they were the first to start flocking to the state in
late 1848. All in all, the news of gold brought some 300,000 people to Californiafrom
the rest of the United Statesand abroad. Of the 300,000, approximately half arrived by
sea and half came overland on the California Trail and the Gila River trail.
The gold seekers, called forty niners , often faced substantial hardships on the trip.
While most of the newly arrived were Americans, the Gold Rush attracted tens of
thousands from Latin America, Europe, Australia, and China. At first, the prospectors
retrieved the gold from streams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
San Francisco grew from a small settlement of about 200 residents in 1846 to a
boomtown of about 36,000 by 1852. Roads, churches, schools and other towns were
built throughout California. In 1849 a state constitution was written. The new
constitution was adopted by referendum vote, and the future state s interim first
governor and legislature were chosen. In September, 1850, California became a state
as part of the Compromise of 1850.
New methods of transportation developed as steamships came into regular service.
By 1869 railroads were built across the country from California to the eastern United
States. Agriculture and ranching expanded throughout the state to meet the needs of
the settlers. At the beginning of the Gold Rush, there was no law regarding property
rights in the goldfields and a system of staking claims was developed. The Gold
Rush also had negative effects: Native Americans were attacked and pushed off their
lands and the mining has caused environmental harm. An estimated 100,000
California Indians died between 1848 and 1868 as a result of American
What Is The Value Of Life
Michel de Montaigne explained that the value of life lies not in the length of days,
but in the use we make of them. This quote sums up many peoples exact feelings
about the value of living, what it means, and who really appreciates it. Our society
has become obsessed with putting a monetary worth on everything we do, even the
most precious of things. Life is one of the few things that you cannot put any price
on, despite what others might believe. Memories and what they mean to those who
have made them are priceless, so why should a legal character determine what the
value of our lives have been, when all it sees is the way that we have died, rather
than the worth of what we have lived. Hamlet, Roger Ebert, and Kenneth Feinberg all
felt differently about their thoughts on life, but in the end, a life is a life, and that is
something all people can agree on. Roger Ebert was a man whose faith wavered
from the beginning to the end of his life, he stated that he no longer believed in God
at the time of his death, and it seems that those who are not god fearing do not
worry themselves about death as much as someone who is religious. Personally I
have always felt that atheists value life more than religious people; those who are
religious figure that they can fix whatever they have ruined in their current life, in
the afterlife when they see their God, which is not exactly an ideal way to live.
Typically, when plagued with diseases like AIDS, or Cancer, the victims realize
Criticism In Salvador Dalli s The Temptation Of Bel Dali
In 1946 Salvador Dali, a spanish surrealist artist painted The Temptation of St
Anthony in the matter of a few short days in the studio that he stayed in next to the
Colony Restaurant in New York. Dali made this piece after he was invited to enter
in a contest for the painting to be used in a film called The Private Affairs of Bel
Ami. Unfortunately he did not win, this was the only contest he s ever entered.
The painting is now located in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Dali
used oil on a 47 x 35 inch canvas to create this piece. It was created in what was
commonly known as the classical period or Dali Renaissance . This painting features
St Anthony kneeling in the left corner of a barren desertunder a blue sky. He holds
out a cross out with his right hand while leaning back on a rock with his left hand,
a human skull lying near his foot. In front of him a strong, white horse bucks onto
its hind legs, behind the horse is a parade of elephants carrying things representing
temptation. The animals all have very long exaggerated legs, the elephants carry two
nude female figures, one is a statue and one is in an extravagant building, they also
carry an obelisk and a vertical tower. Lastly there appears to be a city of some sort in
the approaching clouds to the left, along with a mountain landscape in the
background. Dali uses line prominently throughout this piece, starting with the strong
straight horizon line in the background. He also uses it with the crooked

Jim Jones s character fits into the first point on the list. He was extremely
charismatic, which he used to lure people into his cult. He preached about equality

Hip Injury And Ulnar Collateral Ligament Essay
Introduction
Hip injury and ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injuries among baseball players has
become a high area in study (Cheatham, S. W., Kumagai Shimamura, K., Kolber, M.
J., 2016). Athletes in the field of baseball may be at high risk for injury due to the
high volume of repetitive motion in throwing and pitching because of comprehensive
training schedules and games in the season. It is commonly believed that the presence
of limited hip mobility, throwing biomechanics are changed and may lead to both hip
and shoulder alteration. With both hip and shoulder mobility affected can result
compromising throwing form in biomechanics and may force the core muscles
(abdominals, shoulders, and upper extremities) to compromising and work even
harder. More importantly, the range of motion (ROM) maybe conceding excessively
which results increasing potential risk of future injuries. The individual s
biomechanics in pitching or throwing must be monitor for muscular endurance,
strength, or power for speed and numbers of repetition when contributing towards

Brazil Essay
After the slavery abolition in 1888 and throughout the 20th century, Africa figured
relatively low in Brazil s foreign policy agenda, which have mostly focused in the
relations with the global powers such as the United States and European countries.
This configuration started to change significantly in the early 2000s, when the
improved macroeconomic situation of Brazilcoincided with Africas economic revival.
The turning point was, with no doubt, under former President Lula s mandate (2003
2010).
Revoking historical ties and cultural similarities, Lula s discourse was frequently
based in frames such as: paying back the solidarity debt with the African continent,
due to centuries of slavery relied on the sweat and blood of millions of ... Show more

According to a recent joint World Bank and IPEA document, the historical and
cultural ties between Brazil and the African continent differentiate the country from
the other members of the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China). The economic
success of Brazil, its activities in the international arena and its successful national
social policies would be lessons for African countries (IPEA World Bank, 2011).
Additionally to historical and cultural ties, other affinities in agro ecology and
epidemiology (and, in some cases, language) are often evoked as an advantage of the
Brazilian knowledge transfer to Africa, while the horizontal character of the
partnership is presented as an alternative to the vertical North South interaction
(Patriota Pierri, 2013).
SECTION C: Brazil s investment and financing in Africa: interests
Trade and investments
In the relations between Brazil and Africa, it is not only in development cooperation
that a significant increase started to be seen in the last decade. Making a
comparison, at the beginning of Lula s mandate in 2003, trade between the country
and the continent was $5 billion, while by 2009 it had surpassed $29 billion (LAHT,
2010). Although still accounting for a relatively small share in Brazilian
Why Is The Parable Of The Prodigal Son Still Relevant
Today
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is one of the most widely recognizable stories in
history. The themes include selfishness, remorsefulness, forgiveness, jealousy, and
gratitude. The parable was set in ancient times, but is still relevant today. Jesus
Christ often used stories to illustrate lessons that were used in Bible times. It is
thought that this one was told to his disciples. One of the first themes expressed is
selfishness. The boy in the story wants his share of all the money his father has.
The father regretfully gives in and the boy leaves home. The boy lives a lavish
lifestyle in a country far off where he makes new friends that taught him to do evil
deeds until his money runs out. He then learns a hard lesson about life because
In 1095 Pope Urban Ii Delivered A Riveting Call To Arms
In 1095 Pope Urban II delivered a riveting call to arms that led to the formation of a
divinely inspired army intent on retaking Jerusalem from Muslim control. He
grounds this appeal on a command from God: I, not I, but God exhorts you as
heralds of Christ to repeatedly urge men of all ranks...to hasten to exterminate this
vile race from our lands and to aid the Christian inhabitants (Fulcher 66). Though
Urban emphasizes the need to assist the Byzantine Christians, the hordes of common
people, clergy, and nobility that answer his call have diverse motives for embarking
on the crusade. The rationalization for the first crusadeis revealed expressly by
participants who authored chronicles. However, some of the most conclusive
evidence is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this instance, murder is justified in the effort to reclaim the holy land from its
Muslim oppressors. Overall, Urban repeatedly asserts that this undertaking falls
under the guidance of the Lord (67). Therefore, Urban believes, or at least hopes to
portray, that this war is holy and motivated by the love of Christ. Before Fulcher
presents the pope s speech, he outlines Urban s apparent overall goals to prudently
and vigorously to raise the status of the Holy Church higher and higher (61).
Immediately following this goal, Fulcher lists the ways that Frankish society has
disrespected and turned away from Christianity (61). He initially describes problems
covering France and Western Europe and then transitions to the plights plaguing
Middle Eastern and Byzantine Christians, namely their oppression by the Seljuk
Turks (87). The entire passage clearly presents Christianity as disgraced through the
violent, unanswered assaults of the Muslims on the birthplace of Christianity. In
the words of Fulcher, Urban sought to fully to restore [the] Holy Church, cruelly
weakened by the wicked, to its honorable status as of old (62). Fulcher s
description of Pope Urban s call to action and personal motivations suggests that, at
least in his mind, the first crusade was driven by a desire to liberate the Byzantines
from their Muslim oppressors and raise the status of the whole of Christianity.
Building on the goals of Pope Urban, Fulcher later

Chaos was as much important as order because like ying and yang, they were both
needed to insure each other s survival and thus the Egyptian way of life. Set was
perceived as a negative god, blamed for natural disasters such as earthquakes and
solar eclipses which is fitting as he was also considered the storm god. As the
kingdom changed in later years, Set was associated with the Persians who had
begun invading Egypt. Egyptians were constantly balancing order and chaos. Ma

Modest Country Life
America, in the early colonial years, was mostly country. Multitudes of people lived
on farms, and few towns existed. As time has passed, America has innovated, and
now millions of prodigious cities overpower the dwindling areas of the country.
Because of the numerous towns, rarely any Americans have experienced the modest
country life. Some individuals believe that the cityis superior to the nation only by
considering the conveniences that the city possesses. However, nearly all Americans
have yet to realize the specialness of this country. It is an improved place to live in
the city because it is peaceful, self sufficient, and beautiful.
First, the country is less stressful than the city. The lack of cars, trains, roads,

Types Systems And Traditional Soil Based Systems
Microbes, Bio Diversity and Overall Plant Health and How They Relate to Long
Term Space Life Support Systems
Abstract
The interactions between plant diversity, microbes, and overall plant health is not
fully understood here on Earth nor in space. There have been studies on these
interactions in hydroponic type systems and traditional soil based systems each
coming to varying conclusions and none really uncovering a clear path forward. I
read through many articles on plant microbe interactions, plant disease in hydroponic
systems, and plant health with relation to plant diversity and ecosystem structure.
Overall the message is clear. More research is needed to better understand these
complex interactions and how they affect the long term viability of bio regenerative
closed ecological systems (CES). Although, research is slowly progressing and shows
promising signs that these interactions can be better understood and utilized to
enhance closed system plant cultivation and ultimately long duration closed
regenerative Life Support (LS) systems.
Introduction There is a renewed focus among the space community for long duration
deep space missions to destinations such as the Moon, Mars, and asteroids along
with a desire to build long term human settlements on Mars. These far flung missions
will not be able to solely rely on traditional LS systems that have been used
throughout the history of manned space flight. These traditional LS systems rely on
carrying needed supplies
Urban Decline With Middle Class
In addition, McDonald (1986) expressed the beginning notion of gentrification that
indicated the urban decline with middle class individuals abruptly and surprisingly
moving into neighborhood where crime rates were tremendously high. In the study,
time arrangement information from fourteen gentrified neighborhoods in Boston,
New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., were broke down to figure
out whether gentrification had an impact on wrongdoing rates in focal city
neighborhoods. The areas took after each other in natural or locational amenities,
pulled in young middle class professionals with nonfamily living arrangements, and
encountered a quick valuation for property estimations. Extra components advanced a
unique character to every area. Inquiry of crimegentrification prompts some
inevitable lessening in individual crime rates however that it has not may be just
temporary in gentrified neighborhoods. Crime may go about as an issue system to
discourage neighborhood security bringing about gentrification (McDonald, 1986).
Lawrence (2013) promotes a theory that expresses the relationship between
gentrification and violent crime rates, specifically in Washington, DC. Gentrification
is a social marvel that includes center and privileged residents moving into the city
area where vehement crime had at one time went about as an issue for keeping
undesirable demographics out. An increment in requesting for housing by the higher
salary inhabitants drives up the

Here are three steps to take after getting into a collision:

police. If anyone has sustained injuries, call 911. Otherwise, call the local police

To the Snake by Denise Leverto
In the poem #8220;To the Snake #8221; the author Denise Levertov use several
writing techniques to portray money and gambling. She uses syntax, sound imagery,
color imagery, figurative language, and symbolism to represent money and gambling.
Symbolism is used cleverly throughout the poem to depict a number of things that
would take numerous readings to see. Throughout the poem the sentences are
structured so that every other sentence is indented, with exception to the first two and
the last four. In those sentences not indented the author chose to make every other
sentence shorter so that the ends were uneven. This syntax structure gives the reader
the feeling of something hard to catch or control. The author did this because money,

The last bit of symbolism comes in the last part of the poem where it says, #8220;
#8230;as the leaves moved and you faded into the pattern of grass and shadows,
and I returned smiling and haunted, to a dark morning. #8221; The leaves moving
are symbolic of time passing. As the seasons change the leaves always go through
some kind of change which is why the leader is led to believe that the leaves
represent some portion of time, which could be great or small. The word fading says
to the reader that the money the speaker has gained in gambling is now all gone. The
idea that it faded into the pattern of grass and shadows makes the reader think that
the speaker is going to gamble again and start the cycle over. First lets look at the
grass. Grass when cut grows back every time, under normal conditions. This
applied to the gambler means that each time the money gets short the speaker is
going to gamble again to get more money or make their cash supply grow just like
grass. The same principle applies with shadows. The sun comes up and the shadows
began to form. As the sun goes down the shadows leave. This constant growing and
decreasing cycle can once again be applied to the speaker either losing or all their
money and then regaining it by gambling. The part, which discusses how the speaker
returns smiling and haunted, refers to the speaker facing his/her friends. The speaker

Summary Of Robert Perry On Real Education
In the essay On Real Education , author Robert T. Perry refutes the beliefs of
Charles Murray, who in his book, writes that it is a waste of time trying to get
everybody a college education, as some people do not have the academic abilities
to endure it. Perry thinks that it will greatly damage the American society if we
removed all of the students that Murray believes do not belong in college. He first
gives reasons on why having more college graduates will benefit the American
economy. He then goes on to say how educated people are more suitable to do certain
jobs and live more enjoyable lives than people who do not go to college. Lastly, he
gives solutions on how to get more Americans in college to have a chance at getting
a degree. By his use of credible sources, appealing to logic, and effectively refuting
the opposition, Perry successfully persuades his audience of young students and
their parents that people are more successful and overall happy in their lives when
they have a college degree. However, his lack of real life examples and background
on his own educationslightly weakens his argument. In order to get his argument
across to his audience, Perry must make his readers trust that what he is saying is
accurate. He does this by mentioning credible sources that readers will likely
believe. One example of this from the essay is when he cites a report from The U.S
Department of Labor, which says the country needs more graduates if we are to keep

Tourism Is A Tool Of Cultural Colonisation
Tourism should be considered a tool of cultural colonisation because it paints a
way of life as a national identity to be explored; this includes Maori customs as
well as the relatively laid back nature of New Zealanders. Travel guides date back
to the 1830s and continue to be among the first things foreigners peruse regarding a
place they are visiting. Travel guides also exist as a snapshot of the social context
within which they were written. In 1959, New Zealandhad a Labour led government
and a population of 2,395,700 people. This government had a focus on maintaining
this clean, green image through tax increases on alcohol, cigarettes and petrol though
it was not explicitly for the purposes of tourism. This essay will explore the... Show

According to Amoamo and Thompson, tourism strips Maori of the choice in how
they represent their own identity. This method of colonising Maori culture negatively
impacts comfortable Maori entertainers feel in expressing their identity and
diminishes the authenticity of whatever experience any tourists may want to
experience.
Tourism is a tool of cultural colonisation as well as being a source of income for
each country. Margaret McClure wrote that tourism as an industry didn t thrive
until the 1960 s because New Zealanders at the time were possessive over their
country and the Treasury didn t think the industry could general national profits.
Travel posters in the decade preceding the fifties somewhat negate that notion.
While McClure represents mid century New Zealanders as snobbish guardians on
the vista, Hardingham writes them as welcoming tourists who were happy to share
the country with foreigners. Acknowledging the different agendas behind
advertising and academia, the stark difference between these accounts of 1950 s
New Zealanders is interesting. McClure claims that the tourism industry picked up
speed in the 1960 s before becoming profitable in the 1980 s; therefore, it s possible
that Hardingham s travel guide is a product of Tourism Hotel Corporation. McClure
commented that the New Zealand way of life in the 1950 s, referring to shutting
down over the weekends as well as strict liquor laws, was restrictive and

Notes On Credit Default Swaps
Credit Default Swaps
Another financial vehicle that could be problematic was CDS (credit default
swap). CDS is a financial derivative works like insurance on securities. The
underwriter is obligated to pay a pre determined fee to counterparty if a certain
security default. In return, underwriters charge a fee as compensation. CDS can be
used to hedge against risks. However there are still some difference between a CDS
and an insurance contract.
The CDS does not require buyers to actually hold underlying assets. That means a
third party can insure against default risk that it would not bear the consequence at
the first place. A financial institution can act like an insurance company by selling
CDSs. American International Group (AIG) was the largest CDS underwriter during
the crisis. AIG issued tons of CDSs because historical default rate on bonds were so
low that issuing CDS became a cash generator. They simply collected the premium
and never though of paying out anything until the crisis hit.
Another thing that CDS is different from the insurance is that an insurance pool can
be much better diversified. For example, a car crash in Los Angeles will not
increase the risk of another car crash in New York since two events of car crash are
not correlated to each other. However, as mentioned before, when the house price
bubble popped, the events of defaulting on mortgage can have high correlations.
When millions of mortgages defaulted one after another, the institutes had

By outsourcing, Qantas is able to significantly reduce costs and maintain it s
competitive advantage. However this advantage also has a draw back, hundreds of
engineers have also been cut from their jobs and have had their jobs given to people
overseas. This puts a bad reputation on the name of the business as an Australian
business will cut jobs from Australian workers and supple foreign workers with jobs.
Families and friends of these workers may feel resentment towards Qantas and choose
to travel with another airline instead resulting in a loss of customers. This strategy
has been effective in reducing cost but has resulted in a reduction of quality and
safety and led to a decreased business reputation resulting in a loss of customers and
stakeholders.
Another strategy that Qantas has used to respond to globalisation is through product
differentiation. Qantas maintained it s competitive advantage by providing a service
which was unique and different to those of it s competitor. Qantas was known for
having the best safety record of any airline in the world . The airline was also true

attracted customers towards Qantas giving it a competitive edge over it s foreign

The Epic War By Homer
The Iliad may be seen as an account of circumstances that really change the life of
one man, Achilles, one of the greatest Achaeans warriors. The loyal war hero is the
main character in the Iliad. It is his storyline that creates the essence of the epic war
written by Homer. When the poem is first read it seems as though the main theme is
about the dominance, gruesomeness, horror, and plain destruction of Troy, however
this is not the main focus. We see Achillestransform from youth to adulthood and go
through fundamental personality and character changes from a ferocious warrior in
the beginning to a more reserved and hospitable man by the end of the poem.
Nine years after the start of the Trojan War, the Achaeans attack Chryse, a small town
allied with Troy. During the battle, the Achaeans capture two beautiful maidens,
Chryseis and Briseis. Agamemnon, the forces leader, takes Chryseis as his prize,
and Achilles claims Briseis. For their selfishness Apollo sends a plague on the
Achaeans camp. Many die from the plague, so Agamemnon turns to the prophet
Calchas to determine the cause of the plague and learns that Chryseis is the cause, so
he gives her up and demands Achilles war prize, Briseis. Furious Achilles returns to
his tent and refuses to fight the war and instead wants to take revenge against
Agamemnon.
Agamemnon, who is pleased to have the prize says to Achilles But here is a threat:

The, Wildlife, And The Natural Land, By Henry David
Thoreau
Just years after the Industrial Revolution, a time at which engineering and the
economy became the main concerns of the population, many of the American people
forgot the importance of the land that provided the resources that sustained them. In
a time where there was believed to be nowhere but society to reside in, few refuted
the idea that the wilderness was really so uncivilized. In his 1845 memoir, Henry
David Thoreaudescribes his experiences living in a quaint cabin, in the wilderness ,
alongside Walden Pond near Concord, Massachusetts. Presenting his findings of
being self reliable, Thoreau depicts what his life was like alone in the woods with
only nature to ease one s mind and solitude to provide company. With detailed...

He accordingly conveys this idea by stating that society only believes in intrinsic
value and only once one can seclude themselves from the portrait of society can one
come to find instrumental value.
Continuing with his descriptions of the Walden Pond during winter, Thoreau presents
the idea of overconsumption and sustainability throughout the book. While observing
the ice cutters at Walden Pond, Thoreau comments on human effort to exploit nature,
arguing that the actions are in vain as nature regenerates much faster than it can be
threatened, which is very debatable due to the knowledge that there is only a finite
amount of resources on the planet. Thoreau thoroughly believes in his idea of self
reliance and states that there are only four necessities that should determine one s
ability to survive: food, shelter, clothing, and fuel, many of which he believes nature
provides graciously. This refutes the idea that prosperity is dependent widescale
economic surplus. Thoreau makes his argument clear, writing that any attempt at
luxury is likely to prove more as a hinderance that an aid to one s individual
improvement as in Economy when he writes Most men, even in this comparatively
free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so

at the gate and by comparison United is using a ground crew of twelve people plus
three at the gate. Airlines experts say that these savings allow each Southwest jet to
fly an extra flight per day, which means extra revenue. Herb Kelleher stated the
company strategy: If you are going to be a low fare airline, you have to charge low
fares even where you don t have competition. On the other hand close attention to
costs produced its competitive advantage of having the nation s lowest fares, and
created a phenomenon in this industry known as Southwest effect. Herb noted: Even
in the best of times, we kept our costs low and questioned every expenditure. For
years, I used to approve every expenditure over $1,000. Why? To encourage a
Turn Out Essay
Chapter Eight: Turn Out After I wake up feeling slightly better, I look around to see
if anyone was around me. Oh, good you re up. Raener says as he carries tea in my
room. I sit up and slightly smile at Raener as I start to get up. How long have I been
out? I ask him. A few weeks Bri, I m sorry I would have woken you sooner but I felt
like you should recover on your own. He says as he lays me back down. I close my
eyes and hug my blanket tightly to my chest. What about the others? I ask. He pats
my head and sets the tea down by my bed. Don t worry about them, They are just
fine and are waiting for you to make a full recovery all on your own. He says with a
slight chuckle. Then why won t you let me leave my room now Raener? ... Show

Clean Water Act Argument Essay
Furthermore, the Shore Protection Act is applicable to the transportation of
municipal and commercial waste in coastal waters aiming to minimize debris from
being deposited into coastal waters from inadequate waste handling procedures by
waste transporting vessels (Laws That Protect). The Center for Biodiversity had
petitioned the EPA to begin regulating plastics as a pollutant under The Clean Water
Acta crucial first step in reducing the amount of plastic. The Clean Water Act is the
nation s strongest law protecting water quality. Recognition of plastic pollution under
the clean water act enables states to develop water quality standards to finally begin
curbing the amount of plastic dumped in the oceans.
Yet despite all these efforts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Serving as the number one source of our plastic use, companies opt for plastic
containers because it s easy, feasible, and convenient. Food packaging alone makes
up for 30 40% of landfills with much of that plastic being carried into the oceans.
Going off of this, a new concept that s quickly becoming popular are package free
grocery stores. These cost effective grocery stores have everything you could
possible need in bulk form and consumers bring glass or reusable containers, or
cloth bags and fill them with the food they need. First popping up in cities like
Berlin, Vienna, and Barcelona, many are finding this a more sustainable and eco
friendly option resulting in these sort of grocery stores quickly spreading across the
ocean, with the first one in the United States expected to open in Brooklyn, New
York. Business operators are extremely optimistic that this could serve a very
impactful solution to getting rid of unnecessary plastic. (Che Jenny).
In conclusion, it should have been learned that the issue of plastic pollution has
become ruinous. The cost of repair and the inconvenience of lifestyle changes cannot
compare to the frightful future this planet is headed. At current rates, hazards are not
just inflicted on Earth s oceans but individual human health and the other creatures
that rightly inhabit this land. With this concern

Relaxers weaken the hair because it breaks the bonds within the hair shaft and
destroys the hair proteins in the process. Over time relaxers can weaken the hair
significantly leading to breakage and hair loss. Relaxers may also burn the scalp
resulting in immediate permanent damage or damage that occurs over time, also
resulting in loss of hair and baldness. Relaxers may be a contributing factor and
often times it is only a part of the problem as other practices are utilized in the
styling of the already weakened relaxed hair to push it over the breaking point.
Heat styling
Heat styling appliances such as hot combs, curling irons and flat irons are widely
used in the African American community. By to breakage themselves they can cause
hair to break even if heat protectants are used. Add heat to relaxed hair or dry color
treated hair and again you create a problem. Attacking the hair on multiple fronts until
surrender and in this case breakage results.

The Environmental Impacts Of Costa Rica
Just like other countries, Costa Rica was a victim to deforestation and other
environmental degradation in the past. Now, however, Costa Rica is widely
known for the preservation of its forests, wildlife, and the overall well being of the
environment of its pristine country. The government of Costa Rica realized the
issues of the environmental degradation they had caused and pledged to never go
back. Now, Costa Rica is one of the biggest leaders in the green movement. The
governmental agency SETENA, has helped Costa Rica s eco preservation. SETENA
is the Costa Rican National Environmental Office. SETENA stands for, SecretarГa
TГ©cnica Nacional Ambiental which translates to National Environmental Technical
Secretariat . The purpose of this agency is to address the environmental impacts from
development and building. The main mission of SETENA is to carry out a reliable
process of assessing environmental impact, delivering a trustworthy service, so that
proper decisions can be made by state institutions. What SETENA wants is to be one
of the leading institutions that can guarantee society that development can and will
take place in harmony with the environment. When a new business is to be

is rather time consuming and frustrating for people who would like to build a
residential establishment. During 2010, SETENA was intervened by the Minister of
the Environment due to the excessively long

Savonarola And The Florentine Government
Girolamo Savonarola, the man many saw as the precursor of Martin Luther, was
born in 1452 in Ferrara Italy. Savonarola first became recognized as a friar for the
Dominican party and quickly escalated to become a significantly influential figure of
the fifteenth century. Meeting many important intellectuals of the Medici court and
even becoming good friends with Pico della Mirandola. It was after Pico de Medici
s downfall in 1494 that Savonarola transitioned his focus to politics. We notice
Savonarola s involvement in the debate on the creation of an anti medici government,
being elected as prior of the famous San Marco Church in Florence, and in the work I
will be analyzing, Treatise of the Florentine Government. Peculiarly, Savonarola,

The first book specifically elaborates on the ideal government to rule over the city
of Florence. Savonarola states that a monarchy would be the best form of
leadership because it replicates the leadership of God. Similarly to Niccolo
Machiavelli, Savonarola believes that it is ideal to imitate the best qualities of the
most excellent examples in order to be a successful leader. Savonarola then
progresses to state that even with a perfect prince, monarchy would still not be the
appropriate government for Florence because its citizens are too intellectual and
free spirited to ignorantly follow one tyrant. According to Savonarola s first book,
Florence s peace can only be traced back to God s interference in people s lives
when he says, Had God not intervened, hatred would have caused such bloodshed
[civil war], the destruction of many families, and various struggles and civil wars
within and outside the city walls.

  • 1. Future Career Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of one's future career can be both an enlightening and challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the task of articulating personal aspirations but also in the need to delve into a thoughtful analysis of one's skills, passions, and the ever- evolving landscape of the professional world. The challenge begins with introspection, as the writer must navigate the intricate maze of self- awareness to identify and articulate their goals. This involves contemplating not only the obvious professional paths but also the nuances of personal inclinations and values. Balancing these elements while maintaining a coherent narrative can be akin to walking a tightrope. Furthermore, predicting the future career landscape adds an extra layer of complexity. • 2. Child Soldiers Research Paper Today, children suffer serious human rights abuses and are victims of wars they do not even understand. Militant forces target and forcefully recruit children through the use of such weapons as torture and drugs. Members of the militant forces commit gender based violence against women, and girls are forced into prostitution and sexual slavery (Fonseka, p. 69). These are only some of the many abuses against children. International law attempts to protect children from the effects and inhumanity of armed conflicts. But, there is intentional victimization of children and ignored their human rights. In the last decade, armed conflicts has killed over two million children, disabled about five million children and left twelve million children homeless.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, children can use Modern weapons like the M16 and AK 47 just as effectively as adults because weapons are inexpensive, light and simple enough for children to carry and use. Further, children are drugged by the militant leaders in preparation for conflicts. Children are transformed into soldiers and their childhood is taken away. Some children choose to join militant groups, which contributes to the continuing use of child soldiers. Poverty, the lack of education, and vulnerability are some reasons why children take part in militia groups as a solution to these problems. Militant groups become a surrogate family by providing food and shelter in exchange for military training. The armed groups offered a type of kinship for children who had lost their family in a chaotic world that they did not understand. Because they are so young and vulnerable, they tend to be fearless, have not yet developed an adult s sense of self defense, and are less able to assess the dangers of combat. Also, children join militia groups in order to survive, defeat the feelings of helplessness, sometime to seek vengeance or to protect their families or simply lack of a better alternative. This last reason is important in order to understand the so called voluntary recruitment of many children. What child volunteers simply seek, is a less shaky alternative to an very unsafe
  • 3. Community Study Essay I. NEEDS ASSESSMENT Community Description This study will be focusing on students of California State University, Northridge (CSUN). This campus is located in the center of the city of Northridge which has a population of over 57,000 (U.S. Census, 2000). According to Mapping L.A., It is considered as highly diverse city . The median household income in Northridge is $67,906 in 2008. Next, in education, 34.9 percent of adult residents have at least a four year degree. Lastly, the median age of the population is 32 years old (Mapping L.A., n.d.). CSUN is majorly a commuter school, meaning most students come from many surrounding cities. A survey conducted by Center for Collegiate Mental Health (CCMH) says, on average, from the school years 2009 2010 to 2014 2015, there was an increase of 29.6 percent of students seeking for mental health services. In return, demand for on campus counselors is not being met by most colleges. Students frequently complain about the long waits in scheduling appointments, as analyzed by the CCMH (Kingkade, 2016). For example, in the University of Washington the wait time ranges from two to three weeks, while in the University of Florida the wait time is at two weeks. Two to three weeks is similar to appointment wait time with private health care providers, but when it comes to mental health problems among college students who may be away from home without a support system, time is brutal. Target Population An intercept survey was conducted on a small percentage of CSUN students. The participants were asked a series of questions that touch on awareness, knowledge on symptoms, experience with symptoms, and resources. Majority of the participants expressed that they have experienced symptoms of depression but have not been diagnosed with depression or do not consider themselves as depressed. Some participants have disclosed that they experiencing or have experienced depression was due to the combination of financial difficulties, stress from school, and relationship problems. Also known as the Sea of Trees, Suicide Forest, and Japan s Demon Forest, Aokigahara has been home to over 500 confirmed suicides since the 1950s . The Aokigahara forest has a horrifying history, a variety of different people who visit, also locals and workers have it worse than people think. The history of Aokigahara is horrifying. Even before now, as Aokigahara being known as the suicide forest, it was a place people would take their family members to strand them in the forest to be sacrificed. The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate the forest. The workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from the forest to the local station, where the bodies are put in a special room used specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers then play janken, rock paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason for these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone, it s very bad luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream throughout the night if left alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around, searching for company . The people who live by always know what type of person is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones, just the visitors, and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no longer released due to the abundant amount. Last number released was in 2010 and the number was 54 dead and 247 people who tried. The people who work in the little shops and cafes around Aokigahara talk to many of the people before they go in. People have said if they wouldn t have talked to them, they would not be alive. There is also a sign posted by the entrance of Aokigahara that states Your life is a precious gift from your parents, and Please
  • 5. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) Many debt collectors continue to use deceptive, unfair and abusive practices to obtain money owed to a company. It is believed these practices lead to marital instability, job losses, individual privacy invasions and personal bankruptcies, and many feel protections in place fail to protect consumers. For this reason, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) was put into place. Laws do vary by state, yet debt collectors in every state must comply with this act when attempting to collect these monies. For this reason, many turn to an attorney specializing in Collections Law for assistance when they need to obtain compensation for an unpaid debt. One must be aware, however, that this practice does not apply to commercial debt. Harassment
  • 6. A Look At The Evolution Of Microsoft Windows Three Decades of Looking Through Windows: A Look at the Evolution of Microsoft Windows While Microsoft Windows may not be the first operating system to have been invented, it is arguably the most popular one out there. It started very slowly in 1985 with its first release of Windows 1.0 and has grown immensely in functionality and usability since then. As the system has evolved, it has influenced many areas of the industry including how we work, how we play, and how we build hardware and software. Windows 10 will be the next release and will occur in 2015. This release will mark another milestone for the operating system with emphasis placed on merging the gap between tablets and desktop PCs, cloud computing, and platform unification. While Microsoft is looking to the future with this release, there are also some elements of the past it plans to bring back; elements that users have grown to know and love such as the Start menu. Windows had humble beginnings. It wasn t until the release of version 3.0 that it really started to take off and become a ubiquitous product in the consumer and business world. Windows 1.0 arrived in 1985, ten years after the formation of Microsoft, the company that created it. It was preceded by MS DOS, a command line based, single process operating system. MS DOS s main goal was to create software that manages, or runs, the computer hardware and also serves to bridge the gap between the computer hardware and programs, such as a word processor.
  • 7. Similarities Between The Vow And The Dybbuk In the films The Vow, directed by Henryk Szaro, and The Dybbuk, written by S. Ansky, the creators of both works describe a classic story of a promise between two fathers to wed their unborn children together. The Vow and The Dybbuk begin with this promise, but unfortunately in each film one of the fathers dies before the promise is fulfilled. Ultimately, the children find each other but are posed with troubling complications that prevent them from being together and having the promise fulfilled. Through the similar plot structures, there are evident similarities between the two films, but there are also differences among the methods that both writers used to approach the story. The creators represent these similarities and differences in The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In regards to costume, both films were similar through the representation of Polish nobility with their traditional outfit of a long robe. Because of the prominence of this traditional form of clothing, both films have an emphasis on the traditional values of society as represented through the older generation depicted in the films. However, in both films, the younger generation conflicted with this orthodox culture in that they tried to separate from the traditional values. For example, in The Vow, Jacob broke away from many of his values in his time in Vilnius through performing activities such as changing his clothing after receiving criticism from the more modern society (The Vow, 0:35:48). In The Dybbuk, Khannon also rejects similar cultural values by rejecting God and accepting Satan after not being able to wed Leah (The Dybbuk, 1:01:10). The moral conflict within these characters supports the message of intergenerational conflict between the orthodox Yiddish culture and this new arising Yiddish culture through the use of costumes and surroundings of the characters. Not only was this cultural conflict present in the film, but it was also present in the life of S. Ansky who wrote The Dybbuk. S. Ansky had resided in a town where he would provide books for the local children to read
  • 8. Swing Music Essay example Swing Music During the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties a certain style of music became very popular. This style of music became known as swing . It was performed using rhythmic riffs and is referred to a style of dance and band arrangements. America maintained swing s popularity throughout the World War Two years when both large and small ensembles toured Army and Navy camps both at home and abroad. At home, swing was heard at bond sale rallies and community concerts. The new sub culture of women workers also adapted boogie woogie and other novelty and jive styles. There are two forms of swing; performed swing and recorded swing. Recorded swing was stricter, and performed swing allowed much more improvisation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A popular form is the Smooth Lindy, which is basically a Lindy with no kicking patterns or Charleston. East Coast swing, otherwise known as the Jitterbug is another type of swing dancing. It is more social and less acrobatic. Although this style of swing is what most people learn at first, it is not really a swing era dance. (This dance is learned as, One and two, three and four, rock step. ) Most swing dance had an eight count rhythm. (Counting to eight, with each beat equal to one step.) With the evolution of the 12 bar blues, however, the jitterbug lost two counts and became the dance of early rock and roll. It is taught as a swing dance, however, because it is much easier to grasp than the Lindy. This dance was not created until the 1950 s. The version that is taught most often is done to fast big band music and is also called East Coast Swing. Another type of swing is West Coast Swing. It is a six count or eight count dance where the man moves the woman in a straight line, the slot , while he steps out of the way, instead of the circular patterns of the Lindy Hop. The dance is also danced to much slower music than East Coast which allows for more time for intricate steps and synchronized movements between partners. Hand Dancing is another type of swing dancing. This dance developed in the D.C. area in Wahsington s African American community. It was developed in the

Over the course of the semester we have looked at movement s that have helped advocate for civil rights. One of the movements of that we looked at specifically in class was Martin L. King Jr s movement and his Letter from the Birmingham Jail . In this letter, we hear Dr. King s honest opinion about the criticism he received from his opponents of timely protest. We gain a lot of insight about King s honest opinion about his political motivations of his movements and why he felt that it was critical to act when he did. Another movement that we discussed but didn t directly look at was the Black Panther Party. An outside article that discusses the Black... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With stagnation there would be no awareness to a social issue. Looking further into King s letter, another crucial point that he brought up is that without significant activism the oppressing party would never give up what they wanted them to. Also, to make the problem politically present they had to present the problem in a way in which everybody would see the growing tensions in the community. This is later talked about in King s direct action program with him creating an issue that makes for a political change. He felt that the direct action would create direct changes to the current problem. A crucial point that really brought me to an emotional thought is when King mentioned his daughter crying. The mention of his daughter and her not being able to go to theme parks was an upsetting moment. This point brought up a relatable perspective that added a unique thought to his argument. In summary King makes some very relatable points that when looking back now make s us see how he really helped move the civil rights movement along and cause real change for black communities. Looking at the outside article of Black Panther Party: 1966 1982 by Michael X. Delli Carpini we see that the Black Panther Party did not share the same exact ideals as Dr. King. Although they did advocate strongly for equal rights for black communities they did not have the same patience that Martin Luther King had. The main points of the Black Panther Party movement
  • 10. Struggle Of Family And War Struggle of Family and War Our family life was pretty good. My husband Anthony would go to work and the kids played. But that didn t last for long. I had to pay taxes for things like sugar and documents and if that didn t put me into debt then there was the tea act and that angered us all because we already paid tax and now tea! Even though it is way less of tax I could be a trick. We don t even get Representation so why are we paying these taxes! Thankfully we have the Sons of Liberty to show Britain to back off and we formed a unity with the colonies called the Committees of Correspondence . But even that did not last. Shortly after, Britain banned the Committees of Correspondence and what affected me most was that they forced us to buy the tea and if we didn t they would close the Boston harbor. My husband says, we don t need to pay for the tea we can wait for others to pay for the tea and then get the thing we want. But that is not what I do first of all I need my tea, and second I feel like I should help the other people to pay for the tea. You thought this was it? Well it s not, there was then the Townshend act which let british soldiers live in out house and take all of our things. This just got my family into debt, deep debt. Today my family still is in debt and I still can t pay it off and now when my two little girls want something I have to say no, but they don t cry or throw a fit they just frown and look outside. They re smart little kids and I
  • 11. Response To Nozick s Mental State Theory Of Wellbeig Hedonism is a form of wellbeing theory about what is best in our interest and what is good for us. According to hedonism, wellbeing relies solely on pleasure experienced. Although there are some hedonist theories that values extrinsic pleasure, in this essay we will be looking at hedonism that values pleasurefelt from inside, i.e., hedonismas a mental state theory of wellbeing. This theory has met quite a numbers of objections. We will focus on one such popular objection developed by Robert Nozick. Nozick challenged the mental state theories of wellbeing with his thought experiment about an experience machine. This objection is sought out as ultimate weapon to knockdown hedonism (Weijers 2010, pp. 1). There has been attempts made to defend hedonism from this objection. Few of these responses will be discussed to determine if they are able to successfully overcome Nozick s objection. Pleasure and pain mentioned will automatically refer to the intrinsic sensations, not physical activity nor as external... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reality matter intrinsically to us because it acquaints us with experiences that makes us feel pain and pleasure from inside. The experiences that Nozick s machine offers are deceptions because the machine fools us into thinking that we are actually experiencing pleasure. The illusion of being a great soccer player when you are not talented may be good for you at the moment. But it is better to face the truth and pursue another interest that you are talented at, for it would give you more pleasure in long run. Deception ultimately result in pain. So, spending a lifetime plugged to the machine would give more pain than pleasure. Therefore, people choose reality over experience machine because reality could provide more pleasure than the experience machine. Nozick is wrong for indicating that there are other things that matters more than

While in her office, I sorted through a long list of people and individually wrote down the name and numbers of those who signed up for canvassing. I then called every person who signed up and invited them to the canvassing party that took place on Saturday from 2 5pm. This was my first time making phone calls. Since I did not prepare a script, the first phone call I made was a little rough. As I continued to make phone calls, I started to feel more comfortable and knew exactly what to say. Most of the people I called, either didn t answer or had other plans. This task helped me discover a hidden talent; I am good at talking to people over the phone. Once Crystal got back from a meeting, we started canvassing. This was my first time canvassing alone and I must say, it was a little rough. I canvassed in precinct 16c which is the north side of Springfield. I noticed that although there were a few nice homes in the area, most of the homes were a little run down. Since I am from Saint Louis, this is not that much of a shock to me. Crystal referred the precinct I was canvassing in as the hood. I had to laugh a little because although the... The first to hear confirmed information of the gold rush were the people in Oregon, the Sandwich Islands, and Latin America, and they were the first to start flocking to the state in late 1848. All in all, the news of gold brought some 300,000 people to Californiafrom the rest of the United Statesand abroad. Of the 300,000, approximately half arrived by sea and half came overland on the California Trail and the Gila River trail. In September, 1850, California became a state as part of the Compromise of 1850. New methods of transportation developed as steamships came into regular service. By 1869 railroads were built across the country from California to the eastern United States. Agriculture and ranching expanded throughout the state to meet the needs of the settlers. At the beginning of the Gold Rush, there was no law regarding property rights in the goldfields and a system of staking claims was developed. The Gold Rush also had negative effects: Native Americans were attacked and pushed off their lands and the mining has caused environmental harm. An estimated 100,000 California Indians died between 1848 and 1868 as a result of American
  • 16. What Is The Value Of Life Michel de Montaigne explained that the value of life lies not in the length of days, but in the use we make of them. This quote sums up many peoples exact feelings about the value of living, what it means, and who really appreciates it. Our society has become obsessed with putting a monetary worth on everything we do, even the most precious of things. Life is one of the few things that you cannot put any price on, despite what others might believe. Memories and what they mean to those who have made them are priceless, so why should a legal character determine what the value of our lives have been, when all it sees is the way that we have died, rather than the worth of what we have lived. Hamlet, Roger Ebert, and Kenneth Feinberg all felt differently about their thoughts on life, but in the end, a life is a life, and that is something all people can agree on. Roger Ebert was a man whose faith wavered from the beginning to the end of his life, he stated that he no longer believed in God at the time of his death, and it seems that those who are not god fearing do not worry themselves about death as much as someone who is religious. Personally I have always felt that atheists value life more than religious people; those who are religious figure that they can fix whatever they have ruined in their current life, in the afterlife when they see their God, which is not exactly an ideal way to live. Typically, when plagued with diseases like AIDS, or Cancer, the victims realize

Dali used oil on a 47 x 35 inch canvas to create this piece. It was created in what was commonly known as the classical period or Dali Renaissance . This painting features St Anthony kneeling in the left corner of a barren desertunder a blue sky. He holds out a cross out with his right hand while leaning back on a rock with his left hand, a human skull lying near his foot. In front of him a strong, white horse bucks onto its hind legs, behind the horse is a parade of elephants carrying things representing temptation. The animals all have very long exaggerated legs, the elephants carry two nude female figures, one is a statue and one is in an extravagant building, they also carry an obelisk and a vertical tower. Lastly there appears to be a city of some sort in the approaching clouds to the left, along with a mountain landscape in the background. Dali uses line prominently throughout this piece, starting with the strong straight horizon line in the background. He also uses it with the crooked

W., Kumagai Shimamura, K., Kolber, M. J., 2016). Athletes in the field of baseball may be at high risk for injury due to the high volume of repetitive motion in throwing and pitching because of comprehensive training schedules and games in the season. It is commonly believed that the presence of limited hip mobility, throwing biomechanics are changed and may lead to both hip and shoulder alteration. With both hip and shoulder mobility affected can result compromising throwing form in biomechanics and may force the core muscles (abdominals, shoulders, and upper extremities) to compromising and work even harder. Additionally to historical and cultural ties, other affinities in agro ecology and epidemiology (and, in some cases, language) are often evoked as an advantage of the Brazilian knowledge transfer to Africa, while the horizontal character of the partnership is presented as an alternative to the vertical North South interaction (Patriota Pierri, 2013). Jesus Christ often used stories to illustrate lessons that were used in Bible times. It is thought that this one was told to his disciples. One of the first themes expressed is selfishness. In 1095 Pope Urban Ii Delivered A Riveting Call To Arms In 1095 Pope Urban II delivered a riveting call to arms that led to the formation of a divinely inspired army intent on retaking Jerusalem from Muslim control. He grounds this appeal on a command from God: I, not I, but God exhorts you as heralds of Christ to repeatedly urge men of all ranks...to hasten to exterminate this vile race from our lands and to aid the Christian inhabitants (Fulcher 66). Though Urban emphasizes the need to assist the Byzantine Christians, the hordes of common people, clergy, and nobility that answer his call have diverse motives for embarking on the crusade. In this instance, murder is justified in the effort to reclaim the holy land from its Muslim oppressors. Overall, Urban repeatedly asserts that this undertaking falls under the guidance of the Lord (67). Therefore, Urban believes, or at least hopes to portray, that this war is holy and motivated by the love of Christ. Before Fulcher presents the pope s speech, he outlines Urban s apparent overall goals to prudently and vigorously to raise the status of the Holy Church higher and higher (61). Immediately following this goal, Fulcher lists the ways that Frankish society has disrespected and turned away from Christianity (61). He initially describes problems covering France and Western Europe and then transitions to the plights plaguing Middle Eastern and Byzantine Christians, namely their oppression by the Seljuk Turks (87). The entire passage clearly presents Christianity as disgraced through the violent, unanswered assaults of the Muslims on the birthplace of Christianity. In the words of Fulcher, Urban sought to fully to restore [the] Holy Church, cruelly weakened by the wicked, to its honorable status as of old (62). Fulcher s description of Pope Urban s call to action and personal motivations suggests that, at least in his mind, the first crusade was driven by a desire to liberate the Byzantines from their Muslim oppressors and raise the status of the whole of Christianity. Building on the goals of Pope Urban, Fulcher later

Types Systems And Traditional Soil Based Systems Microbes, Bio Diversity and Overall Plant Health and How They Relate to Long Term Space Life Support Systems Abstract The interactions between plant diversity, microbes, and overall plant health is not fully understood here on Earth nor in space. There have been studies on these interactions in hydroponic type systems and traditional soil based systems each coming to varying conclusions and none really uncovering a clear path forward. I read through many articles on plant microbe interactions, plant disease in hydroponic systems, and plant health with relation to plant diversity and ecosystem structure. Overall the message is clear. More research is needed to better understand these complex interactions and how they affect the long term viability of bio regenerative closed ecological systems (CES). Symbolism is used cleverly throughout the poem to depict a number of things that would take numerous readings to see. Throughout the poem the sentences are structured so that every other sentence is indented, with exception to the first two and the last four. The last bit of symbolism comes in the last part of the poem where it says, #8220; #8230;as the leaves moved and you faded into the pattern of grass and shadows, and I returned smiling and haunted, to a dark morning. #8221; The leaves moving are symbolic of time passing. As the seasons change the leaves always go through some kind of change which is why the leader is led to believe that the leaves represent some portion of time, which could be great or small. The word fading says to the reader that the money the speaker has gained in gambling is now all gone. The idea that it faded into the pattern of grass and shadows makes the reader think that the speaker is going to gamble again and start the cycle over. First lets look at the grass. Grass when cut grows back every time, under normal conditions. This applied to the gambler means that each time the money gets short the speaker is going to gamble again to get more money or make their cash supply grow just like grass. The same principle applies with shadows. The sun comes up and the shadows began to form. As the sun goes down the shadows leave. This constant growing and decreasing cycle can once again be applied to the speaker either losing or all their money and then regaining it by gambling. The part, which discusses how the speaker returns smiling and haunted, refers to the speaker facing his/her friends. The speaker

Perry refutes the beliefs of Charles Murray, who in his book, writes that it is a waste of time trying to get everybody a college education, as some people do not have the academic abilities to endure it. Perry thinks that it will greatly damage the American society if we removed all of the students that Murray believes do not belong in college. He first gives reasons on why having more college graduates will benefit the American economy. He then goes on to say how educated people are more suitable to do certain jobs and live more enjoyable lives than people who do not go to college. Lastly, he gives solutions on how to get more Americans in college to have a chance at getting a degree. By his use of credible sources, appealing to logic, and effectively refuting the opposition, Perry successfully persuades his audience of young students and their parents that people are more successful and overall happy in their lives when they have a college degree. However, his lack of real life examples and background on his own educationslightly weakens his argument. In order to get his argument across to his audience, Perry must make his readers trust that what he is saying is accurate. He does this by mentioning credible sources that readers will likely believe. One example of this from the essay is when he cites a report from The U.S Department of Labor, which says the country needs more graduates if we are to keep up with, let

CDS is a financial derivative works like insurance on securities. The underwriter is obligated to pay a pre determined fee to counterparty if a certain security default. In return, underwriters charge a fee as compensation. CDS can be used to hedge against risks. However there are still some difference between a CDS and an insurance contract. The CDS does not require buyers to actually hold underlying assets. That means a third party can insure against default risk that it would not bear the consequence at the first place. A financial institution can act like an insurance company by selling CDSs. American International Group (AIG) was the largest CDS underwriter during the crisis. AIG issued tons of CDSs because historical default rate on bonds were so low that issuing CDS became a cash generator. They simply collected the premium and never though of paying out anything until the crisis hit. Another thing that CDS is different from the insurance is that an insurance pool can be much better diversified. For example, a car crash in Los Angeles will not increase the risk of another car crash in New York since two events of car crash are not correlated to each other. However, as mentioned before, when the house price bubble popped, the events of defaulting on mortgage can have high correlations. When millions of mortgages defaulted one after another, the institutes had

Continuing with his descriptions of the Walden Pond during winter, Thoreau presents the idea of overconsumption and sustainability throughout the book. While observing the ice cutters at Walden Pond, Thoreau comments on human effort to exploit nature, arguing that the actions are in vain as nature regenerates much faster than it can be threatened, which is very debatable due to the knowledge that there is only a finite amount of resources on the planet. Thoreau thoroughly believes in his idea of self reliance and states that there are only four necessities that should determine one s ability to survive: food, shelter, clothing, and fuel, many of which he believes nature provides graciously. This refutes the idea that prosperity is dependent widescale economic surplus. Thoreau makes his argument clear, writing that any attempt at luxury is likely to prove more as a hinderance that an aid to one s individual improvement as in Economy when he writes Most men, even in this comparatively free country, through mere ignorance and mistake, are so
