Should The Government Provide Health
Care Essay
Crafting an essay on this subject presents a considerable challenge due to the multifaceted nature
of the topic. Firstly, delving into the intricacies of healthcare systems, including their economic,
social, and political dimensions, requires a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines
such as economics, sociology, and political science. Analyzing the role of government in
healthcare provision demands thorough research into different models and their implications on
accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Furthermore, discussing whether the government should provide healthcare necessitates a
nuanced exploration of ethical considerations, including the balance between individual
autonomy and collective responsibility, as well as the principles of distributive justice. This
entails grappling with complex moral dilemmas regarding resource allocation, equity, and the
prioritization of healthcare services.
Moreover, the debate surrounding this topic is often emotionally charged, with divergent
viewpoints rooted in ideological beliefs, cultural values, and personal experiences. Navigating
through these divergent perspectives while maintaining objectivity and providing evidence-based
arguments requires adept critical thinking and effective communication skills.
In conclusion, writing an essay on this subject is challenging due to the interdisciplinary nature
of the topic, the ethical complexities involved, and the emotive nature of the debate. However,
by conducting thorough research, critically analyzing different perspectives, and presenting well-
reasoned arguments, it is possible to construct a thoughtful and compelling essay on the matter.

The Role Of Sex Trafficking In America
Sex Trafficking in India VS in America
Sex trafficking generally involves the forced prostitution of women, sometimes it
falls on men as well, often children. Many times the abuser uses mind games to force
the victim to have sex with them; some of those being promising marriage and a
family if they do as they are told. Another thing that the traffickers tend to do is off
the victim or the victim s family accommodations or services in return for prostitution
. Jennifer Mandel stated, Uneducated, marginalized, and discriminated against, these
women may be lured by traffickers promising employment opportunities abroad
(Mandel, 2012 2013). This states that the traffickers do not only get lured in by
promises of accommodations, but of other employment opportunities. ... Show more

In the year 2015 there were 122 sex trafficking cases reported in Michigan; 152
human trafficking cases reported all together (NHTRC, 2015). In Michigan sex
trafficking is the most common form of human trafficking and are usually arranged
through an online ad. Females make up over 83% of the sex trafficking victims,
men are less likely to become a victim of sex trafficking because they have many
more options for work than women do. At least in Michigan that is the case, many
jobs women are not capable of due to either strength or other qualities that men

Animal Neutering Essay
According to The National Council on Pet Population, there are nearly 8 million
cats and dogs taken in by animal shelters each year. According to the Humane
Society, 25% of the latter are purebreds. One of the leading causes behind this
problem is that many owners fail to either spay or neuter their dogs. As a result,
millions of homeless pooches find their way to shelters.
The problem is that animal shelters are unable to absorb the inflow. They simply lack
the space. Unfortunately, to help curb the issue, millions of canines must be
euthanized. In this article, we ll explore three reasons to spay or neuter your pooch.
Reason 1 Protecting The Community
There are a lot of canines roaming the streets. Left to their own devices, they ll often

Owners will occasionally neglect neutering because they want to breed their dog.
Sometimes, they do it for profit. Other times, they believe that each puppy in the
litter will eventually find a home, even if for free. When a suitable home fails to
materialize, the owner takes the puppy (or puppies) to a shelter. Breeding should not
be considered a hobby; it should be left to professional breeders.
Reason 3 A More Pleasant And Healthier Pooch
Research has shown that canines which are spayed or neutered typically deal with
fewer health problems or behavioral issues. They re less likely to run away, easier to
train, and more responsive to their owners. Each of these factors ultimately means
that owners enjoy the companionship of a more pleasant pooch.
Today, there are very few reasons to avoid spaying or neutering your dog. The
procedure is performed while your pooch is under anesthesia and is a one time
event. Plus, the cost of the operation is reasonable, especially given the advantages
of having it performed. If you re hesitant, review the three reasons above. Spaying or
neutering is a good idea for you, your dog, and your

Conversely, Cotton Mather stood by the use spectral evidence even after his father
had condemned it. In The Wonders of the Invisible World, Mather outlined his belief
that the convictions in Salem were justified. In fact, it was the judges of the court of

contradicting his father s stance on the admission of spectral evidence, Cotton Mather

The parallel continues in regards to the presentation of evidence. In modern child
abuse cases, authorities historically tended to believe what children said because
they did not want to believe that they could make up such harsh accusations.
However, this blind faith in a child s testimony has recently been challenged as
children have been increasingly educated on the warning signs of abuse and are,
therefore, more capable of making fake accusations. Much the same, the authorities
in Salem did not want to believe the girls could make up such severe claims of
witchcraft, even though they had been increasingly made aware of the folklore and,
therefore, able to fake the symptoms. It has also been noted that the girls supposed
fits, if not truly choreographed and acted out, could have been the result of asthma or
even epilepsy. Asthma can be caused by stress, changes in room temperature, or the
presence of mold. However, attacks can also occur randomly without warning.
Therefore, when they do occur, it will look as though the person experiencing the
attack is in critical condition. It has been concluded that, If asthma played a part, it is
not surprising that the girls attacks of choking were common indoors, in damp and
moldy houses, and in the evening, when fires were stoked, rooms became smoky, and
temperatures increased. Furthermore, asthma is most
History Of The Omaha Tribe
The Plains Indians tribe that I chose to research was the Omaha Tribe. The Omaha
Tribe lived near present day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha
Tribe is most known for being native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation
in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in Nebraska because when the Europeans
arrived to North America, they drove out the OmahaTribe along with many other
Plains IndiansTribes. Today, the OmahaTribe consists of around 6,000 members. The
Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha
Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple
spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have
was three. Their [the Omaha Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of
medicine, and with their war customs, and with their gentile systems (https:/
/www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha tribe.htm). Originally, the Omaha Tribe
commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become
accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today.
Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe
commonly wore leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins
on their feet. However, in colder weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide
and wore them in the cold. The shirts were usually fringed and dirty. The women of
the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin
Differences Between The Giver Book And Movie
This essay is about comparing the Giver book and movie. The Giver is a story
about a boy named Jonas who was chosen to be the community s next Receiver of
Memory. He lived in a community where everything was chosen for the citizens, and
everything was perfect. During Jonas training, he realized that the community was
missing something and that there was more in the world. Jonas wanted the
everybody to know that. The Giver book was then made into a movie. Though the
two were based on the same story, there are three important differences that could ve
made them two separate stories. The three main differences between the book and
the movie are Asher and Fiona s Assignments, the similarity all Receivers had and
the Chief Elder s role. One... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His parents did, and Lily did, and so did all of his group members and friends. But
there were a few exceptions: Jonas himself, and a female Five who he had noticed
had the different, lighter eyes, (pg. 20 Lois Lowry). Only those with light eyes
would become the next Receiver of Memory, which is why it was such an
important detail. In the Giver movie, it was changed into a birthmark. That
birthmark was shaped like a triangle and in the movie, all Receivers of Memory
had them. The third main difference between The Giver book and the movie was
the Chief Elder s role. In the Giver book, the Chief Elder was not much of an
important character, The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve was made by
the Chief Elder, the leader of the community who was elected every ten years, (pg.
51 Lois Lowry). However, the Chief Elder played an important role in the Giver
movie. In the book, the Chief spoke in a few chapters during Ceremonies and that
was all. The Giver movie s Chief Elder always watched Jonas closely. She started
becoming suspicious of Jonas, and so she would warn Jonas mother and The Giver.
She then found out about Jonas plan to escape. When she did, she ordered Asher to
lose him (The Giver movie). That meant she wanted Asher to kill Jonas. This essay
was about the three main differences between the Giver book and the Giver movie.
The first main difference was talked about in the first body paragraph. That paragraph

Accuracy In The Synoptic Gospels
Accuracy in the Synoptic Gospels
When judging the historical reliability of the gospels many factors come into paly. In
judging the historical reliability of the Gospels the kind of the gospels is important in
understanding the intentions of the writers concerning the historical value of the text.
When ranking the following sayings of Jesus:
I ve come from above to rescue those below and call them to higher things, just as the
One who sent me to you commanded me. (Infancy Gospel of Thomas 8:2)
When you pray, you should say: Father, your name be revered. Your empire be
established. Provide us with the bread we need day by day. Forgive our sins, since
we too forgive everyone in debt to us. And don t make us face the test. (Luke 11:2 4)

For many of the first will be last[.] (Thomas 4:2). When using the rule of thumb
from BINT to judge the sayings, it says that the Earlier sources are more likely to
be historically reliable because they have had less time in circulation to be altered
which would rule out this saying since the gospel of Thomas was written around
the same time as the gospel of mark was written (70 CE) but I rank it above the rest
because that saying can be found in Matthew 20:16 So the last will be first, and
the first will be last, Mark 10:31 But many who are first will be last, and the last
first, and in Luke 13:30 Indeed there are those who are last who will be first, and
first who will be last. Giving it two independent documents, it is more historical

Philia
Philia as described above is the love of friendship. This initially is seen as a selfless
act, because being a friend and a good friend requires a lot of hard work and
involves the lover to get to know the beloved. Following the Philia framework the
lover chooses who they become friends with. Choosing one person over others to
treat well, is self centered. This is because the lover is choosing who the deem
worthy of their friendship (Cowley 20). They are picking which person they want to
get to know. The simple act of rejecting another human because one does not think
they will get along, is selective and selfish. Kierkegaard also explains that Philia,
requires mutual interest or desire in one another (Cowley 27). Mutual interest

The Sexual Content in Angela CarterВґS the Bloody
Chamber
The Sexual Content in Angela CarterВґs The Bloody Chamber The Bloody Chamber
and Other Stories, is a selection of fairytales which have been re written by Angela
Carter to place them in the modern day. Carter has taken seven fairytales whose
latent content she says were violently sexual , (qtd by Robin Sheets, Pornography
Fairy Tales and Feminism 642). The stories include a variation of classics
fairytales such as Bluebeard , Beauty and the Beast and Little Red Riding Hood
with sometimes more than one version of the same original tale, for example Wolf
Alice and The Company of Wolves . In re writing these fairy tales Carter has given
the new versions a specifically sexual content and focuses on the female protagonist,

Therefore, it can be argued that rather than being subjected to this act, the presence
of consent transforms this into an act of erotica. This could be an example of
which Makinen describes as Carter re writing the old tales by playing with the
earlier misogynistic version, (Makinen 24). As mentioned earlier Sheets attempts
to brand Carter as a new Juliette or new Justine , but in the end her argument is
inconclusive and cannot decide on one particular side of the fence for the writer.
In comparison, Carter refers to Lovelace as someone who has been sexually
exploited by men , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 55). Carter makes it blatantly clear in
this article that she is against pornography, not because of the acts that take place
but because of the oppression of women. She describes Lovelace as someone who
lives in a world dictated by men, she has learned her technique from men and
although it is a world of sex, the sex itself has been reduced to what Carter calls a
geometric intersection of parts , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 56). Carter compares what
Lovelace is doing to that of what takes place in a Brothel. She comments that our
society generally denies the prostitute both appreciation and the opportunity to
exercise particular sexual virtuosity , and ironically confirms that Lovelace is no
prostitute , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 55). Carter portrays Lovelace as what this writer
Americanism And Trans-National America Analysis
Americanism and Trans National America
I am going to start with Americanism, we can see how our president
Theodore Roosevelt tried to convince all the readers that America has to be free, that
we have a lot to do with others cultures, but also we are separate from them because
we are suppose to have everything here so American civilization is not going to need
anything from another nation. Also he talk about the freedom in the religion, we can
express and think what we want, but any political movement against any body of our
fellow citizens because of their religion creed is a big offense against American
principles and
American institution. This applied for every body without distinction. He said that
there should never be any kind of union ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He want us to work together no matter where we came from to eliminate race and
religious prejudice.
On the other hand Randolph S. Bourne who wrote Trans National America said, we
have had to listen to publicist who express themselves as stunned by the evidence of
vigorous nationalistic and cultural movements in this country among Germans,
Scandinavians, Bohemians and Poles, While in the same breath they insist that the
alien shall be forcibly assimilated to that
Anglo Saxon tradition which they unquestioningly label American . He said that to
face the fact that the aliens are already strong enough to take a
share in the direction of their own destiny, and that the strong cultural movements
represented by the foreign press, schools, and colonies are challenge to our facile
attempts, is not, however to admit the failure of
Americanization. He talks about immigrants, freedom, education, younger generation
of Americans, how education should be possible to achieve a degree because he

The Theme Of Escapism In The Swing By Robert Louis

The poem presents to us the theme of escapism, as the child pictured in the poem
escapes the harsh adult world by swinging on the swing, and imagining herself
/ himself in the sky. The last line of the poem proves to us that what the author
wrote as down is actually the adult world and the harsh reality we live in Up in the
air and down! This poem encourages readers; it is telling them that you don t need
feathers to fly. All you need to have is imaginationto achieve the goal your mind
wants. Even though the poem is about the simplicity of child s mind, it teaches us
something. It teaches us how to use and adorn our imaginative world. It is important

Frost uses a lot of imagery, for example in Shattering and avalanching . The writer
tends to use a number of extended metaphors, for example in Soon the sun s warmth
makes them shed crystal shells Shattering and avalanching on the snow crust he then
turns the metaphor into an extended metaphor by adding a new metaphor Such
heaps of broken glass to sweep away . The swing doesn t use as many literary
devices. The poem s main theme is obviously escapism. That is why it is similar to
Robert Louis Stevenson s poem The Swing . The boy in Frost s poem is symbolic to
the character, as it is something that the man likes to imagine during his tough days
or to escape from reality. Frost, just like Stevenson, highlights the importance of
imagination in our lives, and how it can help us during hard times. The word Swing
is not only the swinging of birches, or swinging up and down, it is a swing from the
reality towards imagination, towards heaven, away from the

Female gray wolves choose their mates and often form a life long pair bond. Gray
wolf pairs spend a great deal of time together.
Breeding seasons are between the months of January and April, with northern
populations breeding later in the season than southern populations.Female gray
wolves come into heat once each year and lasts 5 to 14 days, mating will occur
during this time. After mating occurs, the female digs a den, to raise her young.
The den is often dug with an entrance that goes down and then goes up again to a
higher area to avoid flooding. Pups are born in the den and will remain there for
several weeks after birth. Other dens are usually under cliffs, under fallen trees, and
in caves.
Both fertilisation and development is Internal.
The reproduction period lasts between 60 and 63 days, litter size ranges from 1 to
14, with the average size being 6 or 7 pups. Pups remain in the den until they are 8 to
10 weeks old. During the 20th to 77th day, the pups leave the den for the first time
and learn to play fight. An interaction at this time, as well as the dominance status of
the mother, ultimately determines their position in the pack. Females stay with their
pups almost entirely for the first 3 weeks. All members of the pack care for pups.
Until they are 45 days old all pack members feed the pups regurgitated food. They are

I Want A Wife, By Judy Brady
In her essay I Want a Wife, Judy Brady talks about how she, a married woman,
wants a wife with whom to share household responsibilities. She focuses on all the
concepts that she struggles with as a woman, herself. She is expected to be taking
care of her husband because of societal expectation, but the reality is that she wants
someone to take care of her. The more in depth she goes, the more she emphasizes
the stereotyped aspects of being a wife. From a feminist perspective, Brady argued
that women want freedom to care for themselves and someone who would take care
of them. Brady is tired of dealing with the treatment men gave women in the twenty
first century and before the 1970s. In the 1970s, women took a stand in the public

These statistics helped women jobs percentages raise from fifty seven percent to
sixty three percent. Slowly but surely, African American and white women who were
interested in doctoral degrees rose up from fifty four to fifty five percent around the
same time. White women made up twenty five to forty four percent of students, while
African American women made up fifty four to fifty five percent. These statistics
show how women stepped foot out of their houses and showed what it takes to get
equal treatment amongst their gender. Stereotyping is one factor, but equal treatment
in the house is also required. Households demanded for a change when the women
rights movement came along. Households became more organized than they had
before. Compared to 1970 to now, government helped legalize birth control for
mothers across the globe. This helped women be able to balance out their lives.
Through legalized birth control for non married women and other family facilities,
one can say that feminism has become the core of the nationwide family planning
system. In the twenty first century, women have become the center of the world.
Females have been taking in traditionally male based jobs such as being television

years, but women who have been in the military have fought hard to fight for their
country alongside men. Many of the women who have succeeded

Elphaba embodies feminist characteristics throughout the novel. She is strong

order to fight for the rights of Animals. She displays determination and
perseverance in a cause that deals with discrimination of a species. Maguire uses
this opportunity to show that women should engage in gaining their freedom or
stand up for a cause they believe in. This is reflected through Elphaba s actions as
she defends the rights of Animals. Elphaba also expresses her strong will when she

The Fall of the Moors In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the new world.
That year also marked the fall of the Moors (Medieval Muslims). They ruled over
the Moor Kingdom of Granada in the Iberian Peninsula from 711 to 1492, where the
three Abrahamic religions lived in peace. In that year, the battle of Granada caused
their great empire to fall. After this battle, Muslims were forced to convert to
Christianity or be expelled from the land. This oppression went to the extent of
forbidding any Islamic acts, behaviors, and scriptures, with violators being
prosecuted, which resulted in unfair and unjust treatment for the Moors in Spain. The
Moors arrived at the Iberian Peninsula in 711 by crossing the Mediterranean Sea near
North Africa (Florian 20). Within seven years, the Iberian Peninsula (which they
called Al Andalus) was almost completely occupied by these people (De Luca et. al.
5). Moors had control of the majority of Iberian Peninsula, but, in late 718, King
Visigoths Pelayo of Alcama, fought against the Moors and defeated them at the
battle of Covadonga. Later on, they were defeated at another battle: the battle of
Granada. The unity of Spain played heavily in this battle. It was between Aragon s
King Ferdinand and Isabella I, the Queen of Castile. They were married in 1469,
soon after which the united forces of both states rose against the Moors (Florian 183).
Their combined forces participated in the Reconquista, which led to the fall of
The Freedom Of Hate Speech
The United States of America is one the most democratic nations in the world, due
to the fact that it permits its citizens many freedoms and liberties that other
countries do not allow. Examples of these liberties include the right to bear arms,
freedom of religion, lack of restrictions for the press, rights to a fair trial by jury, and
one of the more controversial, freedom of speech. The American government and its
citizens have stretched the first amendment and the right to free speech to the point
that it covers all types of speech, including hate and violent speech. The First
Amendment of the Constitution was not intended to cover the freedom of hate speech,
but over the past decade, the government s and American citizen s views have been
altered to put restrictions on these constitutional rights. The government should not
enforce laws that make forms of hate speech illegal, including discriminatory speech
on college campuses, acts of hateful violence, and uncensored content on the internet.
On college campuses, free expression of political and religious affiliations has
always been encouraged and accepted by the university and other students up until
recent years due to the political tensions that have arose. Students and Professors
have brought up their concerns for various kinds of speech that offend and
traumatize them, such as conservative speech or values. These liberals are straying
away from their core beliefs of tolerance for everyone because they are

Project on Employee Attitude
IntroductionThe world economy nowadays is increasingly characterized as a
service economy. This is primarily due to the increasing importance and share of the
service sector in the economies of most developed and developing countries. In fact,
the growth of the service sector has long been considered as indicative of a country s
economic progress.Economic history tells us that all developing nations have
invariably experienced a shift from agriculture to industry and then to the service
sector as the main stay of the economy. This shift has also brought about a change in
the definition of goods and services themselves. No longer are goods considered
separate from services. Rather, services now increasingly represent an integral part of

Scurrying About (1980 to 1985) when a rapidly growing and enthusiastic community
of scholars quickly built the basic structure of services marketing; 3) Walking Erect

Juvenile Courts And Criminal Courts
There are three different ways where juvenile courts can be transferred to criminal
courts. Judicial wavier, legislative wavier, prosecutor wavier, and rarely demand
wavier are the three different ways. Judicial court is where the judge makes a
decision. Legislative wavier is juveniles at specific ages, charged with specific
crimes, are automatically sent to criminal court. If a sixteen year old killed
someone, his case could be tried in a criminal court. Prosecutor wavier is where
prosecutors are given the choice of filing the case in juvenile or adult court. The
decision would come based on the interactions of both parties and the seriousness of
the crime. The extremely rare transfer request is the demand wavier. The demand
wavier is where the defense lawyer will ask that a juvenile s case be transferred to
criminal court. The reason demand wavier is rare, is because the defense usually is
looking for the easiest punishment. By asking to go to a criminal court, the defendant
could be receiving a harsher punishment. Psychologists have an important role when
deciding about transferring from juvenile court to adult court. The three
psychological constructs are amenability to treatment in the juvenile system, risk of
dangerousness, and the juvenile s own sophistication maturity. The first psychological
construct is amenability to treatment in the juvenile system. In other words, the
willingness to treatment and change. If a juvenile does not act like he or she wants to
Elasticity Of Demand And Supply
Elasticity of Demand and Supply
INTRODUCTION:
Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in
another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using
Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference
among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the
measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or
supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how
advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate
value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of
interest and pay flexibility of interest.
The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price.
Elasticity of Demand :
Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic
measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when
there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded
responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below figure, where
there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity
decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many
reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast
changes in cost won t do particularly to the amount requested. For example,

Unit D6011696: Support Children and Young People s Health and Safety. .
Learning Outcome 1: Understand how to plan and provide environments and
services that support children and young people s health and safety. 1.1 In order to
ensure a safe and healthy environment and services for children/young people there
are some factors which need to be taken into account. These include any equipment
which they will be in contact with, such as electrical equipment, anything which
may pose a fire risk, any damaged furniture or fixtures which they may come into
contact with. If there are any cables or anything they may trip over as well as any
spillages or anything they may slip on and fall. All if these issues need to be taken

Any area which will have children/young people playing in should be assessed
before any child/young person goes into the area to make sure there is nothing
harmful for example any broken equipment. Any issues which are found which
may be a risk to health and safety need to be logged and discussed with other
members or staff so that everyone is aware of any risks. Having a set guideline of
what happens if equipment is broken or damaged, is a good idea so that staff know
how to manage the situation and eliminate any future risk. 2.2 In dealing with an
accident or hazard for example if a child was to trip and fall in the playground,
there are set instructions to follow to ensure the incident is dealt with
appropriately. This would involve taking the child to a registered first aider within
the building to allow the child to receive treatment on any injury they may have
received. An accident for needs to be filled out so that the accident has been
recorded, this then needs to be logged and reported to a senior member or staff. As
well as this the incident will need to be reported to and explain to the parents. An
extra measure would be to carry out an assessment of the playground to make sure
there are no hazards which may have caused the accident such as stones or glass for
a child to trip over or no broken equipment or uneven surfaces which may cause
futures problems. 2.3 When undertaking a health and
1983 American Education Reform
In 1983 American education reform entered a new era. It was in that year that the
federal government published a report of the National Commission on Excellence in
Education entitled A Nation at Risk: The Imperative for Educational Reform.
Commissioned in August 1981 by President Ronald Reagan s secretary of education,
Terrel H. Bell, and chaired by David P. (1). Schoolreform has been poisoning our
American educational system for 33 years and keeps on going with Obamas No
Child Left Behind. This article should inform you on how school reform had

Also that schools would have a 7 hour day, with a 200 220 day school year. A Nation
at Risk found that an incoherent, outdated patchwork quilt of classroom learning led
to an increasing number of students who were subjected to a cafeteria style
curriculum that diluted the course material and allowed them to advance through
their schooling with minimal effort. (2). A Nation at Risk also requires high school
students to have: (a) 4 years of English; (b) 3 years of mathematics; (c) 3 years of
science; (d) 3 years of social studies; and (e) one half year of computer science. (3).
The current cause of school reform being terrible in America is the current reform

provides money for extra educational assistance for poor children in return for

Symbolism In A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings
Society can be a smooth talker, it can slyly belittle someone until they fit the
stereotype society has placed upon them. Some people are willing to sever past the
constant bigotry and persevere towards the person they want to become, but others
get stuck and fall into the trap called the pigeonhole. The line separating those who
ignore society s harsh accusations and those who listen are classified directly with
how the targets react towards discrimination. Ifemelu, the main character from
Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie, was a Nigerian women that lived in America
who received an abundant amount of discrimination towards her African race and
accent. Within a short story by Gabriel Marquez, A Very Old Man with Enormous

He spent his time trying to get comfortable in his borrowed nest... The old man
disregarded the fact that he was being shown as an admissionable attraction and
carried on business as usual. The angel showed no signs of annoyance,
spitefulness, or anger. He simply did what he needed to do: eat, sleep, dry wings,
and repeat. The angel seemed to favor his own company rather than the company of
the townsfolk, so he generally kept to himself, hence why he took no part in his own
act. The angel did not allow himself to be captured by the stereotypical strings of
society, instead he continued to be himself: the mysterious angel. Another way the
angel reacted to discrimination was by avoiding it, But he [angel] must have known
the reason for those changes, for he was quite careful that no one should notice them,
that no one should hear the sea chanteys that he sometimes sang under the stars. The
old man was aware that the sudden changes of appearance (growth of new feathers
on his wings) would cause new attention, therefore, he hid in the far corners of the

Gambling In The Elizabethan Era
Aside from sports, Elizabethans took pleasure in a wide variety of different
pastimes. They particularly enjoyed gaming and gambling. From taverns to inns,
and even the theatre, citizens gambled nearly everywhere. They gambled by
betting on certain games and sports. Card games included One Thirty, an earlier
form of Blackjack, and Ruff and Honors, a game played in groups of four. They
also played board games, such as chess and Alquerques, a strategy game similar to
Checkers. Moreover, Elizabethans reveled in betting on dice games and sport games.
They enjoyed various forms of entertainment as well. For example, jesters and
mummers, or masked or costumed merrymaker[s] or dancer[s] (Alchin) made fools
of themselves. Constantly traveling from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
William Shakespeare, Thomas Dekker, Christopher Marlowe, and Ben Jonson
ruled the stage. Elizabethans had the option to either read plays at home or attend
a playhouse, which Shakespeare described as a wooden O , open to the sky, with
the stage at one side of it and galleries all around (Picard). Refreshments primarily
consisted on fruits and nuts. Most of the audience stood in front of the stage.
Because of the all male casts, male actors had to play female roles. Traveling from
place to place, actors did not use scenery or backdrops because props needed to fit
into the wagon and be carried on and off the stage. However, actors did have
sumptuous costumes made from the clothing of deceased, wealthy people. Plays
were performed only during the day, for there was no stage lighting except by
candles, which glinted on the gold lace and velvets of the costumes, and caused
frequent fires (Picard). Built in 1599 by Shakespeare s playing company, Lord
Chamberlain s Men, the Globe Theatre remains the one the most famous theatre, even

The Joy Luck Club Identity Essay
Identity Search
Everyone has a different personality, has preferences, and enjoys doing a special
hobby or pastime. In the book The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, the young Chinese
American girls make themselves believe they should be different than who they are.
The same concept follows with the article Stop the Absanity by Taffy Brodesser
Anker about false body imaging. A common theme both pieces of writing share is
being true to one s self. In the article, Anker asks, Is it time to talk about why we ve
chosen abs as the thing we pick on? (118). This is similar to the novel because it
addresses the issue Lena has with her eyes. Since her genes are of Chinese descent,
she has small eyes, even though she wishes to have European eyes. As a child she

. . (120), making the abdomen the prominent aspect of the picture. This relates to
when Lindo travels to China and is spotted as a tourist. This is because despite her
facial features and heritage, her American appearance make the people label her as
a tourist. This leaves her to feel ashamed, as people do who know their abs aren t
up to standards. Finally, Anker states that people, have chosen the place where we
feel our emotions and tried to spot reduce it away (122) meaning most emotions
are felt deep in the stomach and now less emotion will be felt. This corresponds
with Jing mei s fear in China of being seen as an American, but also not finding any
Chinese components within herself because she feels like she has ignored her true
culture for too long and will never be able to become part of it. This shows that Jing
mei accepts that she needs to find her true self and will stop pretending not to be
Chinese. Altogether, many of the characters in the novel The Joy Luck Club struggle
to figure out their identities, but as suggested in Stop the Absanity by Anker, the
pressures of society share misleading ideas that make it easier to feel better in their
own skin rather
People with Disabilities
From the beginning of human history to the 1700s, people with disabilities were
often treated badly or even killed for being different. Typically shunned by early
societies, (Special Education, 2014) people with disabilities were pushed aside,
abandoned as babies, or even tortured for being different (Raymond, 2012). Stigma
associated with difference and superstition often convinced people that cognitive
or physical differences were the work of demons and that these people needed to
be executed, exorcised, or exiled. People with severe physical disabilities would
not have survived during this time because of the lack of medical care, and people
with mild disabilities could most likely hide from being identified simply because
of the lack of public education and low literacy rates (Raymond, 2012). During the
Enlightenment the response of society to the increased visibility of people with
disabilities was to build large institutions to house people with disabilities
(Raymond, 2012). The Renaissance brought with it a shift in the way people looked
at people with disabilities. The Renaissance was a time of economic and cultural
changes and an emphasis on the dignity of man. This period brought with it a new
interest in arts and sciences and a better understanding of both the cause and the
effects of disabilities. Governments focused some of their efforts towards the care of
the poor and started almshouses where people could live. People started to
experiment with

Summary Of Malcolm X s Speech By Any Means Necessary
Even deprived of their rights, some African Americans can resort to violence to
benefit them. But it is not always the answer because the Golden Rule is that we
should treat others how we want to be treated. The speech By Any Means
Necessary, written by Malcolm X gives true evidence of being willing to do what is
necessary for the black peopleto acquire rights. African Americans had waited so
long to get rights and respect but gained only a portion in the midst of the 1960 s.
Instead, he wants the black community to take action. That is why violence is the
ticket out, because it would have obtained the respect African Americans deserve, it
would force the white men to respect their needs and when peace doesn t work then
force may be necessary.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For Instance, Malcolm X announces in his speech We want freedom by any means
necessary. We want justice by any means necessary. We want equality by any
means necessary. Which is how he expresses his own feeling on why Black
Americans should take action By Any Means Necessary. Malcolm Believed if
African Americans came together and fought for what they believed in then anything
can be accomplished. He wanted the black community to become as one to stop the
tyranny of the black men being mistreated, and not having rights equal to others.
Basically, there are two kinds of power that count in America: economic power and
political power, with social power being derived from those two. In order for the Afro
Americans to control their destiny, they must be able to control and affect the
decisions which control their destiny: economic, political, and social. This can only
be done through organization . Mr. X believes that if they become a strong
organization than they can control their future economically, politically, and socially.
Which can give the Black men and women a step further to the American Dream. For

The courts have time and again ruled that the Constitution prohibits
Congress from censorship of any form.
These two opposing sides have butted heads again and again leaving behind
landmark cases for future legal actions. One of the most famous of those cases was
Pico vs. Board of Education, Island Trees Union Free School District No. 26, which

1976, the Island Trees School Board in New York removed eleven books that they

weight loss. There is evidence from individual trials about the benefits and risks of
a low carbohydrate diet verses a fat restricted diet (2).The objective of this paper is
to discover whether low carbohydrate diets have more beneficial health related

The results show that only a low carbohydrate diet provided significant

and cardiovascular disease. At 12 months participants of low carbohydrate diet had
significantly greater increases in adiponecin than those on a low fat diet, as
resulting low carbohydrate diet had a similar or greater improvement then standard

received dietary counseling regularly. Data was collected every three months. Results

TADA Fraud Hotline
In the decade following entry of TADA, reports of data fraud exploitations to the FTC
surged. In 2001, customers documented 86,212 protestations. After three years, the
number announced expanded about 250% to 214,905 grievances (FTC, 2007).
Information from other government offices and private associations likewise bolster
the claim that data fraudhas risen exponentially since 1998. The Social Security
Administration s (SSA) Fraud Hotline got roughly 65,000 reports of government
disability number abuse in 2001, more than a fivefold increment from around
11,000 of every 1998 (U.S. Department of Justice, 2000). The Privacy and American
Business (P AB) study report that the rate of wholesale fraud relatively multiplied
from 2001 to 2002 (Morris... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the fact that not as long running and broad as the FTC s information
accumulation program, the ITRC has led yearly exploitation overviews since
2003, yet these studies are restricted to affirmed casualties of wholesale fraud who
have worked with the ITRC. Furthermore, CALPIRG has directed an investigation
of cops and their encounters with data fraud cases (Anderson, 2006). More
seasoned people, especially those matured 75 and more established, and people in
the Mountain states are in any event chance for exploitation. Instructive fulfillment
and marital status had no impact on the danger of exploitation (Anderson, 2006).
The NCVS detailed that families headed by people ages 18 24 were well on the way
to encounter commercial fraud, while family units led by people ages 65 and more
seasoned were most drastically averse to face it. Families in the most elevated level
of pay, those procuring $75,000 or more, were additionally well on the way to be
deceived (White Fisher,
Dig Deep Beyond Lean In By Sandberg Summary

ENG 099
13 October 2016 Taking risks worth it ? The stereotype of a woman is very strong,
and men view it commonly the same way every other corporate woking person, or
high class man views it, just a housewife who stays home to take care of the house,
and not work to be independent. Sheryl Sandberg tell the story how women should

You have to take opportunities and make an opportunity fit for you, rather than the
other way around. The ability to learn is the most important quality a leader can
have. When you have to Lean In to grab certain opportunities, doing actions in a
workplace that makes you feel uncomfortable, just to grab a better position from
what you had before, like having the confidence to grab the most challenging
position at work, or majoring in a career where mostly men studied. I agree with
Sandberg s quote, women now have the chance to grab more of a better position at
work to make more money, and prove to people that you can do it. While reading
the story I also came across this quote, Sandberg quoted Women need to shift from
thinking I m not ready to do that to thinking I want to do that and I ll learn by
doing it. Society was thought as men doing everything for their family, only the wife
stays home, only to take care of the kids, or a women needs a man to live their life,
and depend on them. Sandberg explains that the mentality of a women needs to
change from thinking the certain simple things they can achieve are impossible, the
mentality of a women needs to change by attending actions where people don t see
much womans doing, Sandberg uses examples like CEO positions, like not many

Aw Persuasive Speech
AW: Speaking of the new project: when we told our viewers that we would be
speaking with you many of the fans BEGGED us to get more details on an
upcoming rock project. They want to know basically anything you can throw at
us. Do you have a release timeframe in mind? A single in the works? Is there
anything about that project you could tell us that you re excited to speak about?
JE: I can tell you this. As far as release dates and roll outs and singles...fuck all that
noise. When we finish this? It s coming out the next day. I m not really keen on the
whole label thing, we don t need that. We re gonna make music, and we ve got a
way to bring it to the people and they can decide if it speaks to them or not. I went to

I mean every record brings it s own set of interesting challenges so I m proud of
everything that s ever out for public consumption, it s out because I m proud of it.
If it wasn t deemed to be at a certain level I d drive everybody crazy. I d go burn the
tapes or something so that no one could hear it. You know I have a great respect
for the people who listen to our music and if I don t think it s up to par then I
wouldn t let anybody hear it. But there are those few stand out pieces. Domino the
Destitute is one of the first songs we recorded when I came back to Coheed and it
was just so much fun. The whole beginning... I mean I was just like oh man I have
this drum idea! and I started doing it and Claudio didn t like it at first but he came
correct after a while, because it sounded like the gallops in a Pink Floyd song and
we just had so much fun doing that song. And it was So. Bad.
Socrates The Sun
To Socrates the sun is the visible realm of the good compared to the intelligible
realm. The sun is the source of light, which would be the visibility in the visible
realm, which then would connect to the Good being the source of intelligibility.
The sun is responsible for giving us sight, since that the Good gives us the capacity
for knowledge The job of the sun is to allow the eye to have sight and to be able to
see visible things (Republic VI 508a5). This is then tied to how the truth
illuminates the good like the sun makes things visible to all (508d5). Knowledge
and truth are very similar bit not the good and same goes for light is like the sun
but not the sun. The sun and the good are something much greater. At first the sun
blinds the man. He is not yet ready to be in the sun and must take more time to get
familiar with the sun, eventually he does understand the sun and power it holds
(561a1 516b10). He explains how the sun represents a form of the good which can
only be seen by toil and trouble. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Becoming exists in all things and it is always changing as is the sun. In the
divided line becoming are the things that exist in real life and are something that
fits into everyone s way of understanding (510d). Being is like the perfect circle for
they are unchanging and not always seen. He believes that this is true by one main
point. All elements prove themselves because all other objects are compared to this
perfect or ideal being of the object. All circles aim to me that perfect unchangeable
circle (510c). The Shadows and the people in the cave think one thing is real this
moment but the next it is not real. Nothing in the cave is true unchanging reality
(515a). The sun represents the being in the cave. The sun represents something that
is stable and provides. The sun is the being ad is the cause for everything in the cave
and the sun itself will never change
Hamlet s Relationship Between Hamlet And Claudius
Renowned British writer, William Shakespeare, in one of his most popular works,
Hamlet, chronicles the growing suspicion and the eventual fatal confrontation
between uncle and nephew. Within the first few pages, such contention is made
apparent through the interactions between the two and Hamlet s disclosure of his
attitude regarding his uncle. He declares, Tis an unweeded garden that grows to seed.
Things rank and gross in nature possess it merely, in an effort to characterize
Claudius as the weed that will infiltrate and destruct the garden, or rather Denmark
(Shakespeare 1.2.135 137). Through an emphasis on Hamlets distrust of and
contempt for his uncle, as well as offerings of comparisons between Old Hamlet
and Claudius, Shakespeare alludes to the aforementioned statement as being a
metaphor for Denmark s well being in the hands of Claudius. Shakespeare s
depiction of the relationship between Hamlet and Claudius aids him in implying
that his statement refers to Claudius impact on Denmark, rather than a more literal
account of a garden. The first instance the two share a scene, it is clear that Hamlet
does not appreciate what Claudius undoubtedly believes to be words of wisdom.
Hamlet s father died less than two months prior to the beginning of the story, yet
Claudius insists, But to persever in obstinate condolement is a course of impious
stubbornness; tis unmanly grief. It shows a will most incorrect to heaven...
(Shakespeare 1.2.92 95). Here, Claudius displays a lack of sympathy for Hamlet s
grief, which both fuels Hamlet s dislike of him and initiates his lack of trust, for
Hamlet undeniably views Claudius absence of grief as an alarming oddity. Hamlet
later laments about how quickly his uncle wed his mother: Within a month, ere yet
the salt of most unrighteous tears had left the flushing in her gallГЁd eyes, she
married (Shakespeare 1.2.153 156). This untimely union again highlights Claudius
lack of sorrow, for less than a month after his brother s death, he chose to marry
Gertrude. Hamlet s anger is a result of his mother s ill timed remarriage, but it is a
product of Claudius insensitive involvement in it as well. Furthermore, although
Hamlet does not directly come to this conclusion,
Raddle Music Event Report
Music Event Report: Raddle the Bottoms in Raddle On Sunday, September 25,
2016, Raddle hosts an annual festival. This festival is a benefit concert for Sandra s
Comfort Inc. Many bands play such as the Howlin Brothers. Urban Pioneers. Jenny
Johnson Band. Bosco and Whiteford. The Gordons. and Pint and a half. All these
bands play traditional bluegrass musicand some add country into the mix every once
in a while. There is also lots of food such as fried chicken and many sides. Also. there
is a silent auction and raffles that go on throughout the day.
Each of the bands had their own personalities. From dancing, around on stage to just
sitting there enjoying their time playing music for everyone. They all would tell a
little story about their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stage was built by one guy from the bottoms. It s one of the most beautiful and
unique stages that people from all over the United States come to play on it. This
stage is the center of the whole festival. The stage also sets the mood because the
stage looks like an old porch and I think it just get everyone back to the old times
where everyone would sit on a porch and play bluegrass music.
If I ever went and attend this again I would change the amount of time I actually sat
and listen to the music because it s so beautiful and when they sing it comes from
the heart. I also would change the amount of time each performer had because you
could just tell that each of them could play for hours and hours. They one thing I
wouldn t change would be the number of people that come from all around to enjoy
food, family and the music.
I look forward to this event all year because not only do I get to spend time with
family and friends but I get to experience something that some people never do and
it s all for a great cause that

Should The Government Provide Health Care Essay

  • 1. Should The Government Provide Health Care Essay Crafting an essay on this subject presents a considerable challenge due to the multifaceted nature of the topic. Firstly, delving into the intricacies of healthcare systems, including their economic, social, and political dimensions, requires a comprehensive understanding of various disciplines such as economics, sociology, and political science. Analyzing the role of government in healthcare provision demands thorough research into different models and their implications on accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, discussing whether the government should provide healthcare necessitates a nuanced exploration of ethical considerations, including the balance between individual autonomy and collective responsibility, as well as the principles of distributive justice. This entails grappling with complex moral dilemmas regarding resource allocation, equity, and the prioritization of healthcare services. Moreover, the debate surrounding this topic is often emotionally charged, with divergent viewpoints rooted in ideological beliefs, cultural values, and personal experiences. Navigating through these divergent perspectives while maintaining objectivity and providing evidence-based arguments requires adept critical thinking and effective communication skills. In conclusion, writing an essay on this subject is challenging due to the interdisciplinary nature of the topic, the ethical complexities involved, and the emotive nature of the debate. However, by conducting thorough research, critically analyzing different perspectives, and presenting well- reasoned arguments, it is possible to construct a thoughtful and compelling essay on the matter. The Role Of Sex Trafficking In America Sex Trafficking in India VS in America Sex trafficking generally involves the forced prostitution of women, sometimes it falls on men as well, often children. Many times the abuser uses mind games to force the victim to have sex with them; some of those being promising marriage and a family if they do as they are told. Another thing that the traffickers tend to do is off the victim or the victim s family accommodations or services in return for prostitution . Jennifer Mandel stated, Uneducated, marginalized, and discriminated against, these women may be lured by traffickers promising employment opportunities abroad (Mandel, 2012 2013). Females make up over 83% of the sex trafficking victims, men are less likely to become a victim of sex trafficking because they have many more options for work than women do. At least in Michigan that is the case, many jobs women are not capable of due to either strength or other qualities that men

  • 4. Animal Neutering Essay According to The National Council on Pet Population, there are nearly 8 million cats and dogs taken in by animal shelters each year. According to the Humane Society, 25% of the latter are purebreds. One of the leading causes behind this problem is that many owners fail to either spay or neuter their dogs. As a result, millions of homeless pooches find their way to shelters. The problem is that animal shelters are unable to absorb the inflow. They simply lack the space. Unfortunately, to help curb the issue, millions of canines must be euthanized. In this article, we ll explore three reasons to spay or neuter your pooch. Reason 1 Protecting The Community There are a lot of canines roaming the streets. Left to their own devices, they ll often get into trash bins (spilling them over in the ... Other times, they believe that each puppy in the litter will eventually find a home, even if for free. When a suitable home fails to materialize, the owner takes the puppy (or puppies) to a shelter. Breeding should not be considered a hobby; it should be left to professional breeders. Reason 3 A More Pleasant And Healthier Pooch Research has shown that canines which are spayed or neutered typically deal with fewer health problems or behavioral issues. They re less likely to run away, easier to train, and more responsive to their owners. Each of these factors ultimately means that owners enjoy the companionship of a more pleasant pooch. Today, there are very few reasons to avoid spaying or neutering your dog. The procedure is performed while your pooch is under anesthesia and is a one time event. Plus, the cost of the operation is reasonable, especially given the advantages of having it performed. If you re hesitant, review the three reasons above. Spaying or neutering is a good idea for you, your dog, and your

In modern child abuse cases, authorities historically tended to believe what children said because they did not want to believe that they could make up such harsh accusations. However, this blind faith in a child s testimony has recently been challenged as children have been increasingly educated on the warning signs of abuse and are, therefore, more capable of making fake accusations. Much the same, the authorities in Salem did not want to believe the girls could make up such severe claims of witchcraft, even though they had been increasingly made aware of the folklore and, therefore, able to fake the symptoms. It has also been noted that the girls supposed fits, if not truly choreographed and acted out, could have been the result of asthma or even epilepsy. Asthma can be caused by stress, changes in room temperature, or the presence of mold. However, attacks can also occur randomly without warning. Therefore, when they do occur, it will look as though the person experiencing the attack is in critical condition. It has been concluded that, If asthma played a part, it is not surprising that the girls attacks of choking were common indoors, in damp and moldy houses, and in the evening, when fires were stoked, rooms became smoky, and temperatures increased. Furthermore, asthma is most

The Omaha Tribe lived near present day Nebraska and parts of Iowa; however, the Omaha Tribe is most known for being native to Nebraska. This tribe is still on a reservation in Macy, Nebraska today. This tribe is in Nebraska because when the Europeans arrived to North America, they drove out the OmahaTribe along with many other Plains IndiansTribes. Today, the OmahaTribe consists of around 6,000 members. The Omaha Tribe was a unique tribe mainly because of what they practiced. The Omaha Tribe practiced polygamy, which was the practice of one man having multiple spouses. In the Omaha Tribe, the maximum number of wives that a man could have was three. Their [the Omaha Tribe] religion was associated with the practice of medicine, and with their war customs, and with their gentile systems (https:/ /www.accessgenealogy.com/native/omaha tribe.htm). Originally, the Omaha Tribe commonly lived in bark longhouse villages. However, they then started to become accustomed more to living in tepees, and that is what they mostly still live in today. Only men were selected to lead the tribe until 1880. Men from the Omaha Tribe commonly wore leggings and buckskin shirts with breechcloth. The wore moccasins on their feet. However, in colder weather, they made long robes out of buffalo hide and wore them in the cold. The shirts were usually fringed and dirty. The women of the Omaha tribe wore clothes made from buckskin
  • 7. Differences Between The Giver Book And Movie This essay is about comparing the Giver book and movie. The Giver is a story about a boy named Jonas who was chosen to be the community s next Receiver of Memory. He lived in a community where everything was chosen for the citizens, and everything was perfect. During Jonas training, he realized that the community was missing something and that there was more in the world. Jonas wanted the everybody to know that. The Giver book was then made into a movie. Though the two were based on the same story, there are three important differences that could ve made them two separate stories. But there were a few exceptions: Jonas himself, and a female Five who he had noticed had the different, lighter eyes, (pg. 20 Lois Lowry). Only those with light eyes would become the next Receiver of Memory, which is why it was such an important detail. In the Giver movie, it was changed into a birthmark. That birthmark was shaped like a triangle and in the movie, all Receivers of Memory had them. The third main difference between The Giver book and the movie was the Chief Elder s role. In the Giver book, the Chief Elder was not much of an important character, The initial speech at the Ceremony of Twelve was made by the Chief Elder, the leader of the community who was elected every ten years, (pg. 51 Lois Lowry). However, the Chief Elder played an important role in the Giver movie. In the book, the Chief spoke in a few chapters during Ceremonies and that was all. The Giver movie s Chief Elder always watched Jonas closely. She started becoming suspicious of Jonas, and so she would warn Jonas mother and The Giver. She then found out about Jonas plan to escape. When she did, she ordered Asher to lose him (The Giver movie). That meant she wanted Asher to kill Jonas. This essay was about the three main differences between the Giver book and the Giver movie. The first main difference was talked about in the first body paragraph. That paragraph was about
  • 8. Accuracy In The Synoptic Gospels Accuracy in the Synoptic Gospels When judging the historical reliability of the gospels many factors come into paly. In judging the historical reliability of the Gospels the kind of the gospels is important in understanding the intentions of the writers concerning the historical value of the text. When ranking the following sayings of Jesus: I ve come from above to rescue those below and call them to higher things, just as the One who sent me to you commanded me. (Infancy Gospel of Thomas 8:2) When you pray, you should say: Father, your name be revered. Your empire be established. Provide us with the bread we need day by day. • 9. Philia Philia as described above is the love of friendship. This initially is seen as a selfless act, because being a friend and a good friend requires a lot of hard work and involves the lover to get to know the beloved. Following the Philia framework the lover chooses who they become friends with. Choosing one person over others to treat well, is self centered. This is because the lover is choosing who the deem worthy of their friendship (Cowley 20). They are picking which person they want to get to know. The Sexual Content in Angela CarterВґS the Bloody Chamber The Sexual Content in Angela CarterВґs The Bloody Chamber The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories, is a selection of fairytales which have been re written by Angela Carter to place them in the modern day. The stories include a variation of classics fairytales such as Bluebeard , Beauty and the Beast and Little Red Riding Hood with sometimes more than one version of the same original tale, for example Wolf Alice and The Company of Wolves . Therefore, it can be argued that rather than being subjected to this act, the presence of consent transforms this into an act of erotica. This could be an example of which Makinen describes as Carter re writing the old tales by playing with the earlier misogynistic version, (Makinen 24). As mentioned earlier Sheets attempts to brand Carter as a new Juliette or new Justine , but in the end her argument is inconclusive and cannot decide on one particular side of the fence for the writer. In comparison, Carter refers to Lovelace as someone who has been sexually exploited by men , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 55). Carter makes it blatantly clear in this article that she is against pornography, not because of the acts that take place but because of the oppression of women. She describes Lovelace as someone who lives in a world dictated by men, she has learned her technique from men and although it is a world of sex, the sex itself has been reduced to what Carter calls a geometric intersection of parts , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 56). Carter compares what Lovelace is doing to that of what takes place in a Brothel. She comments that our society generally denies the prostitute both appreciation and the opportunity to exercise particular sexual virtuosity , and ironically confirms that Lovelace is no prostitute , (Carter, Shaking a Leg 55). Carter portrays Lovelace as what this writer

Americanism And Trans-National America Analysis Americanism and Trans National America I am going to start with Americanism, we can see how our president Theodore Roosevelt tried to convince all the readers that America has to be free, that we have a lot to do with others cultures, but also we are separate from them because we are suppose to have everything here so American civilization is not going to need anything from another nation. Also he talk about the freedom in the religion, we can express and think what we want, but any political movement against any body of our fellow citizens because of their religion creed is a big offense against American principles and American institution. He said that to face the fact that the aliens are already strong enough to take a share in the direction of their own destiny, and that the strong cultural movements represented by the foreign press, schools, and colonies are challenge to our facile attempts, is not, however to admit the failure of Americanization. The boy in Frost s poem is symbolic to the character, as it is something that the man likes to imagine during his tough days or to escape from reality. After mating occurs, the female digs a den, to raise her young. The den is often dug with an entrance that goes down and then goes up again to a higher area to avoid flooding. She is expected to be taking care of her husband because of societal expectation, but the reality is that she wants someone to take care of her. The more in depth she goes, the more she emphasizes the stereotyped aspects of being a wife. From a feminist perspective, Brady argued that women want freedom to care for themselves and someone who would take care of them. Brady is tired of dealing with the treatment men gave women in the twenty first century and before the 1970s. In the 1970s, women took a stand in the public eye to... Slowly but surely, African American and white women who were interested in doctoral degrees rose up from fifty four to fifty five percent around the same time. White women made up twenty five to forty four percent of students, while African American women made up fifty four to fifty five percent. These statistics show how women stepped foot out of their houses and showed what it takes to get equal treatment amongst their gender. Stereotyping is one factor, but equal treatment in the house is also required. Households demanded for a change when the women rights movement came along. Households became more organized than they had before. Compared to 1970 to now, government helped legalize birth control for mothers across the globe. This helped women be able to balance out their lives. Through legalized birth control for non married women and other family facilities, one can say that feminism has become the core of the nationwide family planning system. In the twenty first century, women have become the center of the world. Females have been taking in traditionally male based jobs such as being television reporters and military soldiers. The military has been based on men for so many years, but women who have been in the military have fought hard to fight for their country alongside men. Many of the women who have succeeded

Maguire uses this opportunity to show that women should engage in gaining their freedom or stand up for a cause they believe in. • 17. The Fall Of The Moors Name Class DR. Date The Fall of the Moors In 1492, Christopher Columbus discovered the new world. That year also marked the fall of the Moors (Medieval Muslims). They ruled over the Moor Kingdom of Granada in the Iberian Peninsula from 711 to 1492, where the three Abrahamic religions lived in peace. In that year, the battle of Granada caused their great empire to fall. After this battle, Muslims were forced to convert to Christianity or be expelled from the land. This oppression went to the extent of forbidding any Islamic acts, behaviors, and scriptures, with violators being prosecuted, which resulted in unfair and unjust treatment for the Moors in Spain. The Moors arrived at the Iberian Peninsula in 711 by crossing the Mediterranean Sea near North Africa (Florian 20). Within seven years, the Iberian Peninsula (which they called Al Andalus) was almost completely occupied by these people (De Luca et. al. 5). Moors had control of the majority of Iberian Peninsula, but, in late 718, King Visigoths Pelayo of Alcama, fought against the Moors and defeated them at the battle of Covadonga. Later on, they were defeated at another battle: the battle of Granada. The unity of Spain played heavily in this battle. It was between Aragon s King Ferdinand and Isabella I, the Queen of Castile. They were married in 1469, soon after which the united forces of both states rose against the Moors (Florian 183). Their combined forces participated in the Reconquista, which led to the fall of

The Freedom Of Hate Speech The United States of America is one the most democratic nations in the world, due to the fact that it permits its citizens many freedoms and liberties that other countries do not allow. Examples of these liberties include the right to bear arms, freedom of religion, lack of restrictions for the press, rights to a fair trial by jury, and one of the more controversial, freedom of speech. The American government and its citizens have stretched the first amendment and the right to free speech to the point that it covers all types of speech, including hate and violent speech. The First Amendment of the Constitution was not intended to cover the freedom of hate speech, but over the past decade, the government s and American citizen s views have been altered to put restrictions on these constitutional rights. The government should not enforce laws that make forms of hate speech illegal, including discriminatory speech on college campuses, acts of hateful violence, and uncensored content on the internet. On college campuses, free expression of political and religious affiliations has always been encouraged and accepted by the university and other students up until recent years due to the political tensions that have arose. Students and Professors have brought up their concerns for various kinds of speech that offend and traumatize them, such as conservative speech or values. • 23. Juvenile Courts And Criminal Courts There are three different ways where juvenile courts can be transferred to criminal courts. Judicial wavier, legislative wavier, prosecutor wavier, and rarely demand wavier are the three different ways. Judicial court is where the judge makes a decision. Legislative wavier is juveniles at specific ages, charged with specific crimes, are automatically sent to criminal court. If a sixteen year old killed someone, his case could be tried in a criminal court. Prosecutor wavier is where prosecutors are given the choice of filing the case in juvenile or adult court. The decision would come based on the interactions of both parties and the seriousness of the crime. The extremely rare transfer request is the demand wavier. The demand wavier is where the defense lawyer will ask that a juvenile s case be transferred to criminal court. The reason demand wavier is rare, is because the defense usually is looking for the easiest punishment. By asking to go to a criminal court, the defendant could be receiving a harsher punishment. Psychologists have an important role when deciding about transferring from juvenile court to adult court. The three psychological constructs are amenability to treatment in the juvenile system, risk of dangerousness, and the juvenile s own sophistication maturity. The first psychological construct is amenability to treatment in the juvenile system. In other words, the willingness to treatment and change. If a juvenile does not act like he or she wants to
  • 24. Elasticity Of Demand And Supply Elasticity of Demand and Supply INTRODUCTION: Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of interest. The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price. Elasticity of Demand : Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below figure, where there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast changes in cost won t do particularly to the amount requested. For example,

  • 30. People with Disabilities From the beginning of human history to the 1700s, people with disabilities were often treated badly or even killed for being different. Typically shunned by early societies, (Special Education, 2014) people with disabilities were pushed aside, abandoned as babies, or even tortured for being different (Raymond, 2012). Stigma associated with difference and superstition often convinced people that cognitive or physical differences were the work of demons and that these people needed to be executed, exorcised, or exiled. People with severe physical disabilities would not have survived during this time because of the lack of medical care, and people with mild disabilities could most likely hide from being identified simply because of the lack of public education and low literacy rates (Raymond, 2012). During the Enlightenment the response of society to the increased visibility of people with disabilities was to build large institutions to house people with disabilities (Raymond, 2012). The Renaissance brought with it a shift in the way people looked at people with disabilities. The Renaissance was a time of economic and cultural changes and an emphasis on the dignity of man. This period brought with it a new interest in arts and sciences and a better understanding of both the cause and the effects of disabilities. African Americans had waited so long to get rights and respect but gained only a portion in the midst of the 1960 s. Instead, he wants the black community to take action. That is why violence is the ticket out, because it would have obtained the respect African Americans deserve, it would force the white men to respect their needs and when peace doesn t work then force may be necessary.... We want equality by any means necessary. Which is how he expresses his own feeling on why Black Americans should take action By Any Means Necessary. Malcolm Believed if African Americans came together and fought for what they believed in then anything can be accomplished. He wanted the black community to become as one to stop the tyranny of the black men being mistreated, and not having rights equal to others. Basically, there are two kinds of power that count in America: economic power and political power, with social power being derived from those two. In order for the Afro Americans to control their destiny, they must be able to control and affect the decisions which control their destiny: economic, political, and social. This can only be done through organization . Mr. X believes that if they become a strong organization than they can control their future economically, politically, and socially. Which can give the Black men and women a step further to the American Dream. For

A Vermont high school librarian is forced to resign because she fought the school board s decision to remove Richard Price s The Wanderers, and to quot;restrict quot; the use of Stephen King s Carrie and Patrick Mann s Dog Day Afternoon (Jones 33). An Indiana school board takes action that leads to the burning of many copies of a textbook that deals with drugs and the sexual behavior of teenagers (Berger 61). These cases of censorship in public schools are not unusual and there is evidence that such challenges are increasing (Woods 2). These challenges are actually typical of the ones being leveled against school libraries today. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The courts have time and again ruled that the Constitution prohibits Congress from censorship of any form. These two opposing sides have butted heads again and again leaving behind landmark cases for future legal actions. One of the most famous of those cases was Pico vs. Board of Education, Island Trees Union Free School District No. 26, which was the first school library censorship case to reach the Supreme Court (Jones 35). In March 1976, the Island Trees School Board in New York removed eleven books that they deemed quot;anti American, anti Christian, anti Semitic, and just plain filthy quot; (Berger 59) from the high school library shelves. Among these books were Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, A Hero Ain t Nothing but a Sandwich by Alice Childress, and Soul on Ice by Eldridge Cleaver (Jones 37). The board felt that it had quot;a moral obligation to protect the children in our schools from this moral danger quot; (Berger 60). Five students then sued the school board on grounds that their decision violated their First Amendment rights. The suit was passed around the courts until June 1982 when the Supreme Court took up the cause and ruled that the school board would have to defend its removal of the books. The Supreme Court decided that since the library is used voluntarily, they can choose books there freely and that, as Justice Brennan stated, quot;the First Amendment rights of students may be directly and sharply

I agree with Sandberg s quote, women now have the chance to grab more of a better position at work to make more money, and prove to people that you can do it. While reading the story I also came across this quote, Sandberg quoted Women need to shift from thinking I m not ready to do that to thinking I want to do that and I ll learn by doing it. Society was thought as men doing everything for their family, only the wife stays home, only to take care of the kids, or a women needs a man to live their life, and depend on them. • 42. Socrates The Sun To Socrates the sun is the visible realm of the good compared to the intelligible realm. The sun is the source of light, which would be the visibility in the visible realm, which then would connect to the Good being the source of intelligibility. The sun is responsible for giving us sight, since that the Good gives us the capacity for knowledge The job of the sun is to allow the eye to have sight and to be able to see visible things (Republic VI 508a5). This is then tied to how the truth illuminates the good like the sun makes things visible to all (508d5). Knowledge and truth are very similar bit not the good and same goes for light is like the sun but not the sun. The sun and the good are something much greater. At first the sun blinds the man. He is not yet ready to be in the sun and must take more time to get familiar with the sun, eventually he does understand the sun and power it holds (561a1 516b10). • 43. Hamlet s Relationship Between Hamlet And Claudius Renowned British writer, William Shakespeare, in one of his most popular works, Hamlet, chronicles the growing suspicion and the eventual fatal confrontation between uncle and nephew. Within the first few pages, such contention is made apparent through the interactions between the two and Hamlet s disclosure of his attitude regarding his uncle. He declares, Tis an unweeded garden that grows to seed. Things rank and gross in nature possess it merely, in an effort to characterize Claudius as the weed that will infiltrate and destruct the garden, or rather Denmark (Shakespeare 1.2.135 137). Through an emphasis on Hamlets distrust of and contempt for his uncle, as well as offerings of comparisons between Old Hamlet and Claudius, Shakespeare alludes to the aforementioned statement as being a metaphor for Denmark s well being in the hands of Claudius. Shakespeare s depiction of the relationship between Hamlet and Claudius aids him in implying that his statement refers to Claudius impact on Denmark, rather than a more literal account of a garden. The first instance the two share a scene, it is clear that Hamlet does not appreciate what Claudius undoubtedly believes to be words of wisdom. Hamlet s father died less than two months prior to the beginning of the story, yet Claudius insists, But to persever in obstinate condolement is a course of impious stubbornness; tis unmanly grief. It shows a will most incorrect to heaven... (Shakespeare 1.2.92 95). Here, Claudius displays a lack of sympathy for Hamlet s grief, which both fuels Hamlet s dislike of him and initiates his lack of trust, for Hamlet undeniably views Claudius absence of grief as an alarming oddity. Hamlet later laments about how quickly his uncle wed his mother: Within a month, ere yet the salt of most unrighteous tears had left the flushing in her gallГЁd eyes, she married (Shakespeare 1.2.153 156). This untimely union again highlights Claudius lack of sorrow, for less than a month after his brother s death, he chose to marry Gertrude. Hamlet s anger is a result of his mother s ill timed remarriage, but it is a product of Claudius insensitive involvement in it as well. Furthermore, although Hamlet does not directly come to this conclusion,
