Vital Signs
In the medical field, knowledge is the number key or tool to take control of a patients throughout your
shift and career because not every patient will have the same symptoms or illness as one another. Vital
signs is a much needed skill to keep your patients alive without reading the wrong results or
documenting the wrong results. Vital signs are determined if your heart is pumping enough blood and
oxygen to your entire body. Vital signs include respirations, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
During this essay, I ll discuss the usual rate of pulse within different categories of age groups,
locations and how to complete the skill of a pulse rate on a patient or a loved one. When it comes to

would like to do. However, your wrist is more common than any other site on your body. Secondly,
after determining your site, you can press lightly on your fingers until you feel the blood pulsing
beneath your fingers (Pulse and Target Heart Rate (THR), n.d.). If you can t find your pulse, you can
move your fingers until you feel the heartbeat. You might have to press harder because some people s
arteries and veins are closer to inside of the body. Thirdly, to count your heartrate, you re going to
need to get a second hand watch, or you can use a clock with a second hand. Either one will work for
the procedure or skill. Lastly, you will start counting when looking at the clock. You can determine
your heart beat in thirty seconds. Once you have a number in thirty seconds, you can multiply by two

The Sports And Physical Activities Among Women
In today s day and age, males are known to be the strong, athletic, and independent type of people,
whereas females are known to be more of the obedient, quite, attractive side and the nurturers. Society
expects males and females to adopt, and fulfill these specific gender stereotypes and roles that have
been established over time. Whenever these gender norms are violated, it is common for labels to be
given out such as, strong females being called lesbians, or butch automatically assuming they are
manly with no intentions of liking makeup or enjoying to dress up. Traditional gender stereotypes and
discrimination has remained consistent over the past centuries; and have been confronted and
challenged by women and feminists all around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People are bombarded with gender stereotypes and discrimination from the moment they were born.
Once a newborn s sex is revealed, they are immediately dressed in in either pink or blue, given gifts of
trucks and cars or dolls depending on their gender, and referred to as strong or delicate. These types of
actions are only the first of many gender stereotypes an individual will encounter throughout their
lifetime. Females are held accountable for being weak or feminine, where as males are expected to
demonstrate certain behaviors and characteristics that are masculine.
Traditionally, the female population has always been expected to do the cooking and cleaning, wear
dresses, raise the children, maintain a perfect body and still remain pure. Women are known to be
weaker then men, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Beginning at an early age, female s
participation in athletics would have smaller numbers, with less intensity, and for shorter time spans
than males. The female athlete is not only expected to be masculine, but she may place her feminism
in jeopardy by others in society (Marsh, 1986). Females are expected to live up to these specific
gender roles that are held by both men and women in society. The expectations of feminism often
result in women being guided away from sweating, aggressiveness, lifting weights, or competing in

Stronger By Mandis Song Analysis
Ever since I was a little girl, music has always been a major part of my life. I listen to it all the time,
and it always has an effect on me. It has influenced my feelings, thoughts, and actions. While there are
many songs that mean a lot to me, the one song that has meant the most to me and positively
influenced me throughout my life is the Christian song Stronger by Mandisa. The first time I heard
Stronger was on the K Love Radio Station two days after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer
for the second time. It was stage two, so it was a pretty serious disease going throughout my mom s
body. In the beginning, I was so upset and angry that something so terrible could happen to my family.
I kept thinking how this could happen to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I knew she needed me and I needed to be an encourager toward her. When I heard this song, I knew it
was exactly what I needed. It was like sunshine during a hailstorm. During such a time of turmoil, I
never thought a song could change my attitude dramatically. My favorite line of the song says this,
The pain ain t gonna last forever/ And things can only get better/ Believe me, this is gonna make you
stronger . To me, these three lines told me that no matter what happened things could only go up, and I
can be better from it. I now know this to be true. Because of my mom s fight, I have the courage to go
after all of the things I thought I could not. For the first time, I was not scared of the future, as I used
to be. Although Stronger was written in early 2011, I still listen to it very often. Every time the song
brings back the terrible memories of both times the best person in my life had cancer. However, this
song also brings back the amazing memories I had with my mom. Memories that show her courage
and strength when I had little. One memory I had with my mom was sitting at Duke University
hospital waiting on her final chemotherapy treatment before her surgery a few weeks ahead. The first
three lines of the song perfectly described my life in that moment. As my mom and I listened, we just
laughed at how much the song meant to the both of

Supply and Demand Economic Critique
The United States economy is determined by a number of factors, such as; gross domestic product
(GDP), unemployment rates, consumer income, and interest rates. Everything the U.S. produces is
measured by the GDP. When the GDP turns negative, the economy can enter a recession. If this
negative GDP continues for years the country is considered in a depression. Supply and demand are
the forces drive the U.S. economy. Supply includes employment and natural resources such as oil.
Demand, or personal consumption, drives 70% of the economy. The current spiral of the United States
economy can be attributed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Consumer Confidence Index is watched by stock market analysts and investors to get an idea of
whether consumer spending will continue to drive the economy.
The U.S. is also facing income inequality, one quarter of Americans make less than $10 per hour, and
this is income below poverty level. Many lower wage workers receive no health insurance, pension
plans, no sick or vacation days. Recent government tax policies have helped rich investors more than
the low wage earners. Technology and outsourcing has increased inequality. Emerging markets of
other countries are seeing increases in their income as they become more competitive in the global
marketplace. Overseas work forces are becoming more skilled and sophisticated in managing their
economy; as a result, wealth is shifting to those countries.
Interest rates control the flow of money in the economy. High interest rates curb inflation, but also
slow down the economy. Lower interest rates stimulate the economy, but could lead to inflation.
Americans must know whether rates are increasing or decreasing, and what other economic indicators
are saying. The target interest rate, or short term interest rate is controlled by the Federal Reserve.
Long term interest rates are market driven. The global average interest rate for long term debt is the
result of global demand for credit compared to global supply of saving.
It doesn t seem clear if the country is still rising from its

Compare And Contrast Essay On Red Figure Ware
The two vessels referred to red figure ware seem to be created by the same person, but after analyzing
the two images more carefully with the Morellian method I have come to the conclusion that they are
not created by the same artist. The first thing that stood out to me was the border. The borders look
like they have the same pattern but they are slightly different. In image A the swirls are not connected
to each other each swirl is sprat. In image B the swirls are all connected and continuous. The quality
of the lines are also different in the borders. In image A the lines are rounder and begin and end with a
dot. In image B the lines are straighter and the dots are mostly visible in the inner part of the swirl.
The lines that go around the border are also different because in image B they are consistent Another
thing that looks similar at first glance is the hair because both guys have curly hair and they both have
an outline. The difference is that in image A the waves of the hair are more defined and rounder. The
pattern of the waves is consistent throughout the whole head. In image B the waves of the hair are not
as defined and round. The pattern of the wave s dose not continue. Instead, the hair is straight where it
meets the neck and it has a different pattern where it meets the face. The ears seem to have the ...

throughout his life. In a streetcar cafe, in the early morning, the man calls out a boy to tell him about
what he has learned. He states how his ex wife left him and that he goes out trying to find her. As a
result, the man learns to love simple things before larger beings. The story shows the struggle of the

for her as, There were these beautiful feelings and loose little pleasures inside me. And this woman
was something like an assembly line for my soul. I run these little pieces of myself through her and I
come out complete. (McCullers 2). The man believes he cannot function without her, she is needed to
make his life complete. These emotions are the reason why the conflict is so devastating to him, and
how he learns to accept and love everything. By loving the woman so much he doesn t realize the
truth about her and later he has to face this. After the long travels in a quest to find her and her
answers he thinks about love and sees a new perspective. The man explains to the boy that, They start
at the wrong end of love. They begin at the climax. The old man whispers to the boy, A tree. A rock. A

Research Paper On Alan Menken
Alan Menken, a famous Composer, Actor, and Artist, was born on July 22,1949 in New Rochelle,
New York. Alan received a taste of the music life from the start, his mother, Judy Menken, was a
young actress/playwright and his father, Norman Menken, DDS, was a piano playing dentist
(Biography Comments 1). His whole family loved Broadway musicals and they spent many nights
together just listening to his father play piano, Alan once said, I showed an interest in piano at a very
young age, but I hated to practice, so when my parents left the room I d make up my own version of
the piece. That s how I started composing (The Whole New World of Alan Menken 1). Menken lived a
very happy and prosperous childhood at home with his sisters Faye and Leah until 1966 when he
moved out to attend college. He attended New York University s College of Arts and Sciences with a
Musicology degree, and was admitted into the BMI Musical Theater Workshop, where he wrote small
musicals for them but would also sneak away to the piano room and compose songs that he kept to
himself. In 1968 he wrote his first musical, Separate Ways, for NYU. (Biography Comments 1). When
Menken graduated from NYU, he wrote a few musicals for The Downtown Ballet Company that were

adolescents in North America after World War II ( J.D. Salinger Biography ). Salinger s work

Its profanity has been declared in numerous states, as parents claim to be fearful that their children
will be scarred by the events and foul language in the novel (Reiff). This fear has been elevated so
much, in fact, that in the 1960s there were teachers from Kentucky, Okla, Tulsa, and Louisville that
almost lost their jobs for assigning the novel to their classes. As a result of this, the book was
prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to
sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be pornographic and
encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more
prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was not open to this type of
literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed in Holden s thoughts and
actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to young people that sexual
intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about regularly. When accounting
for all of this, it is difficult to argue that the The Catcher in the Rye should not be censored. Despite

the novel, many critics argue that the story gives young readers that

This is perfectly exemplified by the second portion of the films interlude, in which a montage of Carl

originally upbeat and whimsical as scenes of Carl and Ellie s cute married life flash by, including
picnics, homemaking, and clouds that inspire child birth. The tempo then slows and becomes
depressing as the couple goes through the pains of a miscarriage. Carl is able to cheer Ellie up by

Compromise Essay
Compromise Essay
Prior to the 1820 s, the people of the United States had been struggling to find a way to solve their
sectional tensions brought on by slavery in the south. The south had always had an economy based on
agriculture that could not strive without their uses of slavery. They did not plan on ending slavery
anytime soon, especially since it was really all they had to support themselves. They were against
establishing an industrial based economy like the north had began to do in the 1820 1830 s. The real
cause of the sectional tensions between the North and the South during the 1820 s 1860 s was not
slavery itself, but how it affected each society so differently, and it was very challenging to find a

The Court also ruled that Congress lacked power to ban slavery in the U.S. territories. And lastly, the
Court declared that the rights of slave owners were constitutionally protected by the Fifth Amendment
because slaves were bought by owners, labeling them as property. In the North, antislavery supporters
were outraged by the outcome of the Dred Scott case, strengthening the newly submitted Republican
Party and helping ignite the violence between slave owners and abolitionists on the frontier. The
Missouri Compromise was declared unconstitutional under the laws made in the Dred Scott v.
Stanford Supreme Court Case in 1857. The case gave Northerners a reason to fear Southern slave
power. It left the nation indecisive on the actions it should take to replenish the nation of what it needs
to settle the sectional tensions in which were causing our country to fall apart.
With the increased sectional tensions left untouched after the Missouri Compromise, California wants
in as a free state. Again, Henry Clay suggests an idea to keep from the occurrence of another uprising
like the one after the Missouri Compromise. The Compromise of 1850 had something to offer for the
North and the South. The Compromise would allow California to become a free state, as a benefit for
the North. It would also ban the selling of slaves in Washington D.C., another benefit to the North. To
make the south happy, it strengthened

Martin Luther And The Reformation
Thesis Statement
The purpose of my paper will reflect the life of Martin Luther during the Reformation period and the
changes brought forth as a result of his teachings and writings. Luther s findings not only transformed
his own actions, but change the thought process of millions. The study of Martin Luther is the key that
unlocks the background of the Protestant Reformation and it s origins.
Introduction
Research on Martin Luther was chosen to demonstrate the importance of his works, and decisions that
not only fueled his purpose, but changed the church for generations to come. Martin Luther propelled
himself into his work and was not afraid of voicing his often strong opinion of the Catholic Church.
Luther s Ninety Five Theses provides readers his opinion of the church, calling out failures, and
known corruption of leaders within.
Foundation
Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. He was the son of Hans and
Margareth Luder. His father worked in a copper mine, and through years of hard work they became
fruitful. Through his own personal struggles Hans Luder did not want the same life for beloved
Martin. Education and faith played a huge role during Luther s adolescent years as he learned Latin
and law and continue to excel in these areas well into his adulthood. This development would continue
to shape Luther s beliefs and principles. In the early 1500s, Luther was able to continue his studies
near Erfurt.
At the young age of eighteen

Approaches Of The Classical And Human Relations...
There are hundreds of thousands of different approaches within the Classical and Human Relations
environment and management field. Many of these approaches are similar and compatible in nature,
and as well have various looks that show their differences and incompatibilities. Let s explore how
these organizations use systems and theories in their everyday work life and discover the
incompatibilities between each of the approaches.
Classic Management and its Structure
The definition of Classical management states that it is a result of the early attempts to formalize
principles for a growing number of professional managers (Jeliniek, 2005) . Mariann Jeliniek, Henri
Fayol, and Frederick Winslow Taylor are all seen as the forefathers of classical management (Parker
and Ritson, 2005). Classical theory sought rationality and order in the workplace, and worked through
what they had called the one best way, which is what they had thought was the most logical division
of labor, appropriate structure to relate the activities, the correct amount of control for directing
activities, and as well the proper allocation of responsibility designated to a proper authority. These
three classical theorists asserted their insights and became universally applicable to all organizations.
To help ensure there was efficiency in the workplace there had to be specialized labor, proper direction
and coordination, and effective planning in an organization.

The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court
Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different
levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and
individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co
written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s
Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The
ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to
violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important
because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty
law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes
committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable
legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the
amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing
global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the
importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which
national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. Multiple levels

Paul Klee Biography Essay
Paul Klee was one of the most unique and influential artist s of his time period. Klee was born in
Münchenbuchsee, Switzerland on the 18th of December 1879. Klee, being born in Switzerland and
creating a majority of his work in Germany, was considered both a Swiss and German artist. As a
child Klee was extremely interested in drawing and music. His parents pushed music in their
household however the rebellious Paul viewed music of the time as meaningless and stuck to the path
of drawing and art. Paul Klee s artwork was heavily influenced by movements in art that included
expressionism, futurism, cubism, and surrealism. Although widely known for his physically small,

his inspiring artwork that was trendsetting for many generations of artists to come, but also his
writings and lectures that were extremely valuable to the world of modern art laying the ground work

Paul Klee and his works are a direct representation of 20th century art. Klee s roots in Futurism,
Cubism, Surrealism, and Expressionism combined with his natural gift for drawing make him truly
one of the most unique abstract artists of his time. Most artists of the time were trying to break away

R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company Case Study
1. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company was founded in 1875 and has grown to become one of the largest
operating tobacco countries in the world. This company was founded by Richard Joshua Reynolds,
who was a 25 year old who started his own chewing tobacco manufacturing operation in North
Carolina. Reynolds was the first to introduce pipe tobaccos and went on to revolutionize the entire
cigarette industry.
Reynolds American have always had a focus on innovation and transforming the tobacco industry,
which is prevalent not only in their business now, but also in their past success. For example, in 1931,
they were the first company to package cigarettes with a moisture proof, sealed cellophane outer wrap
which worked to preserve freshness. This had not been done before but helped them break away from
competitors as it was more enticing for consumers to purchase.
R.J. Reynolds has been acquiring multiple large companies in their industry so that their own
company can grow and continue to develop. In 1970, Reynolds Industries was formed as the new
parent company of R.J. Reynolds, then in 1985 they followed on to acquire Nabisco Brands and were
renamed to RJR Nabisco. Through 2002 to 2006, they acquired both Santa Fe Natural Tobacco
company and Conwood Company, giving Reynolds American incredible scale and strength within
their industry.
Their innovation continued in 2012 when R.J. Reynolds created R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company and in
2013 announced their new product VUSE Digital Vapor

Symbolic Interactionism And Sociology
Sociology is the study of the behaviour of people within society. It helps us to understand how society
works and the impact of relationships and interactions between people and society. Sociology has
different sociological perspectives for example symbolic interactionism and functionalism. Symbolic
interactionism studies individuals and small groups within society and how they behave, interact and
believe about how society is what it is. Symbolic Interactionism was created by Herbert Blumer. He
based symbolic interactionism on three things which were that people act on the meanings of things,
social interactions build meanings and meanings depend and are modified by people interacting with

School is another agent of socialisation which introduces children to new knowledge and new children
who come from different backgrounds. Peer groups are children of the same age and who have
common interests. Becoming part of a peer group means the children start to part from their parents
control and learn to make friends and decisions on their own. Mass media is the method of
communication that spreads message around the world, examples of mass media are the internet,
television adverts, newspaper and the radio. This has a massive impact on children as what they see
may impact on what they think about themselves and how they should look or behave. Primary

raise them. Children grow and thrive because parents are catering for their basic and physical needs by
supplying food, clothes and shelter, they are also teaching their children the things they need to know
to be a member of society including the norms, values and language and if they do not get this primary
socialisation they tend not to do well as adults. Norms and values are sociological concepts which we

Essay about The Heated Debate Concerning Stem Cell Research
Inside an embryo there are dozens of stem cells. They are basically empty shells, but the special thing
about them is that they are pluripotent, meaning that they can develop in to any cell or organ in human
body. That makes stem cell research a gigantic part of today s medical research. With enough research,
stem cells can be a big help to the human kind. Their extraordinary abilities could help scientists
return memory to Alzheimer s patients, or grow a man s limb that had to be amputated due to some
tragedy. But, they also have some flaws. As the name suggests, Embryonic stem cells can only be
found in embryos and acquiring them destroys the embryo. Embryos are considered by many people

Even though embryonic stem cells can be a great use to human kind, the fact is that this help comes at
a terrible price. Embryonic stem cells can only be found in blastocyst of an embryo. There are those
who believe that life begins at conception, so the blastocyst is a human life and to destroy it is
unacceptable. Stem Cells can also be found in the umbilical cord of a baby just born. According to DO
NO HARM, the coalition of Americans for research ethics, these stem cells are currently the only ones
being used to treat humans, and have had positive results. Thanks to these cells, a number of drugs
have been successfully tested and are now available. If less money is spent on the research of
embryonic stem cells, the adult stem cell research could provide even greater advances. Another
reason for abandoning this research is that all the promises made by scientists have not been proven.
According to the Institute for Creation Research, they are all theories at best.
Embryonic stem cell research could be a great help to society, but it can also take it on a downward
spiral. This research can give answers to questions that have been asked since the beginning of time.

Will Allen s The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, and Communities is not just
a book about agriculture, it s about life. The book is Will Allen s diary about his past, present and
future. This book is an inspiration. Will Allen writes to show us that our past, might always come back
to haunt us, but the second time it can be a positive experience based on our efforts. In the following I
will provide a summary of the book, describe the importance of the book, and lastly I will provide a
critique on Will Allen s, The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People, and
Communities. As an African American, Allen has not only suffer from racism, but also from the
unfairness in the world of food. He explains how his parents were slaves back in 1920s, and how that
caused him to have a negative view towards agriculture. He states that he never enjoyed farming
during that time. He had always had a passion for agriculture, but there was always something
negative in this path that kept him from enjoying it. Will Allen s love for agriculture, became the

Essay about Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the...
Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the Unconscious
Samuel Coleridge s poem Kubla Khan is a metaphorical journey through a complex labyrinth of
symbols and images that represent the unconscious and seemingly troubled mind. It is a voyage that
continually spirals downward toward uncharted depths, while illustrating the unpredictable battle
between the conscious and the unconscious that exists inside every individual. Moreover, the poem
appears to follow a dreamlike sequence past numerous, vivid images that are mainly artificial
recreations of the narrator s (most likely Coleridge s) previous thoughts and experiences.
Kubla Khan, however, is predominantly a mosaic of fragments of thoughts and incomplete themes.
Most likely, the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is no consistent syntax, rhyme, or meter in Kubla Khan, the poem begins its journey
through the mind in a conscious and calculating manner. The first four lines of the poem, in fact,
appear to almost directly derive from a passage of Purchas s Pilgrimage, as the narrative voice slowly
drifts into a dreamlike state. Coleridge s paraphrasing of a relatively accessible, published piece of
literature seems to provide the narrator with a solid foundation to build his seemingly inaccessible
poem upon.
The fifth line, however, is marked by an indentation. The words down to the sunless sea (5) appear to
initiate an abrupt drop into the unconscious and away from the character Kubla. There is an initial
sense of natural mysticism and Eastern tranquility among the gardens bright with sinuous rills (8) and
a vibrant, incense bearing tree (9) in this scene of fertile greenery. Interestingly, the color green,
uniquely, exists on a dual level, as it is able to convey the vitality of life and vegetation, while
simultaneously conveying an undertone of fear, jealousy, ill humor, and sickness that most likely
dominates Coleridge s own subconscious thoughts and soul green as emerald. This abundant greenery,
however, is soon met by a romantic chasm (12) that ironically, is described as savage and haunted.
After the narrator s initial description of the majestic setting of unconscious thought,

Cyprus as well. Richard got his nickname from a lion attack when the lion had opened its jaws to bite

Kingdom in Oxford on the 8th of September in 1157. According to History Extra (2015), Richard at
the age of only nine was betrothed to a nine year old princess, his father Henry had tricked King Louis
VII into handing over his daughter, she spent 25 years in prison until she would come of age. He was a
very important figure during the Middle Ages having triumphant victories during the third crusade

skills. For many years had enforced his father s laws in their French lands. Later he defeated his father
with a successful revolt, overthrowing him as king of England, which had been originally his mother

Advantages Of Low Self-Esteem
Self esteem remains the center focus of academic interest, with numerous studies examining age
differences predictors and change over time periods or cohorts. Having a low self esteem can create
difficulty with interest, education, and social skills. Having a low self esteem is not only unhealthy,
but it can lead to neuroticism and depression (Orth, Robins, and Roberts 2008). On the other hand,
having high self esteem can create problems as well, if one thinks they are great at everything then
they have difficulty seeing their flaws. Understanding how self esteem fluctuates has important
implications for theories of personality development.
A longitudinal study is observational or it can involve collecting data/ surveys. Therefore, the
researchers do not impact the participants answers. However, in a longitudinal study, researchers have
to examine the same participants over the course of the study, which can take decades. A couple
advantages of a longitudinal study are they can show clear variable patterns over time, clear focus and
validity, useful data, and they are flexible. On the other hand a few disadvantages are they can last
many years, participants may drop out of the study, large sample size, and are typically costly.
An advantage of the researchers study is the board ages that were exampled in the research. The
researchers used participants 24 104 in their research allowing for an evaluation of all age groups.

Throughout the years many schools have been caught paying their athletes money when they are not

College sports are the only sporting events in the world that bring in large amounts of money but do

time and hard work to earn a paycheck, and they do not have the time to be employed anywhere else.
The supporter of this issue say that there is not a way of stopping the large companies from cashing in

themselves a nonprofit organization. These people find it unfair that coaches get paid so much and the
players get nothing. For example, Nick Saban, the University of Alabama s football coach, makes 11

On April 5, 1861, an amateur astronomer A.E. Thatcher was busy scanning the night skies above his

He described it as a tailless nebulosity approximately two to three times the diameter of Jupiter and
glowing at a magnitude of 7.5 which is too dim to be seen with the unaided eye. It is however readily
visible with strong binoculars.
This celestial object was a comet, which slowly brightened over the next three weeks as it approached

A Brief Note On The Upper Wabash River
The Upper Wabash River faces a vast majority of issues that affect the quality of the watershed. The
watershed has long been used for agricultural purposes that cause stress on the watershed. Through
various point source and non point source pollution various water systems have been affected with
some being even impaired.
3.1 Nutrients
One of the major stresses within the Upper Wabash River is nutrients. The state of Indiana has a target
of 10 mg/L of nitrate levels. During an water quality study there were 178 nitrate samples collected
with 109 of the samples exceeding the target. Nitrate concentrations ranged from 9.34 mg/L to 34.48

Strawberry Guava And Its Impact On Hawaii
Strawberry guava, Psidium cattleianum Sabine, is valued by the general public of Hawaii for its

homeland of southeastern Brazil, the strawberry guava is limited, unlike Hawaii, where it forms
monotypic stands that displace native Hawaiian flora and fauna and drive these indigenous, endemic,

How Does Shakespeare Use Deception In The Merchant Of Venice
Self expression is the human capability of revealing the attributes and features of one s self. However,
humans have the ability to methodically select how cohabiting individuals will perceive his or her
character. Through lies and secrets, a human being distorts their true self from the perception of
another. William Shakespeare s The Merchant Of Venice contains situations in which characters lie to
conceal their secrets and self. First, Jessica, the Jewish moneylender s daughter, uses lies to escape her
father s house and elope with her love. Secondly, Shylock, the Jewish moneylender in Venice,
suppresses his motives and thoughts in the presences of his Venetian neighbours. Lastly, lies are used
by Bassanio, an Italian lord of Venice, as he appears to be a wealthy man but is truly in debt. Clearly,
Shakespeare uses the theme appearance versus reality to disguise true intentions and deceive
characters.

How Is Piggy Mature In Lord Of The Flies
Piggy, from Lord of the Flies, displays a mature perspective in a childish, chaotic atmosphere. The
author, William Golding, presents Piggy as a plump, spectacle wearing schoolboy, diagnosed with
asthma (7 9). The fragile appearance and lung disease of the stout student suggests his physical
vulnerability. The young boy speaks childlike since he talks in sentence fragments; however, this still
steadies the fat boy s character because he constructs most of the boys helpful ideas (10 15). When so
called Fatty spots Ralph on the island, he frequently mentions his aunt due to the fact he lives with her

while the other boys immediately accept their fates by imprudently developing an anarchic state (14).

with the senseless ebullience of the children (38). The quote infers the outcast s frustration with
having the parents job by watching the children run wildly. The caring juvenile also desires fairness,

Specific heat is found in the painting because the sun is heating everything up but the water is much
cooler than the dirt because it has a higher specific heat.
Connection to friction
Specific heat connects to friction through the specific heat capacity of brake pads in a vehicle. Firstly,
brake pads are a key component to your car because it is what allows you to stop. When you stomp

Water has a different specific heat than copper which has a different specific heat than gold. The
reasoning behind this is the same reason why different substances have different melting and boiling
points. Water for example has a very high specific heat needing 4.186 joule/gram °c to raise 1 gram by
1 °c. Why does water have such a high specific heat? Well, when something heats up, the particles
vibrate and the more hot the object gets the faster they move. Waters molecules are not easily movable
because of its molecular structure. Water molecules have a strong bond to each other because of the
polarity of the molecule. One side is very positive and the other very negative. It is difficult to move
or break these bonds because the positive is attracted to the negative. So what does that have to do
with specific heat? The answer is that water has such a high specific heat because it is a polar liquid.
hypothetically if water was not so polar it would have a lower specific heat because the bonds would
not be so attracted to each

Small and simple words with barely any meaning, but those words kept me going. If you ve ever
asked me if I was okay, I would quickly gather my thoughts smile then nod while whispering small
and quick mhm to make sure my lie was believable. Lies. As I lie in my bed I whisper and tell myself
that I m fine but behind my eyes lies an immense amount of cries. I knew I needed help, but it was up

circles like I was in a maze that had a beginning with no end. I was lost never to be found so I went

Role Of Frugality In Colonial America
Writing Assignment Option 1C Students have often debated whether a morality based or profit based
approach proved more influential in shaping colonial American economies. Colonial Americans are
influenced by both moral and profit in their economies, when taking into consideration industry, care,
frugality, or knowledge. A morality based approach takes into consideration ethics and values, while a
profit based approach focuses on making as much money as possible. Although there were ways
colonial American economies were influenced by profit, colonial American economies were more
influenced by morals due to the features and values of their economic system. To begin with, people
are making use of natural resources by making them into something ... Show more content on

This can be seen in luxurious lifestyles such as William Byrd s, in which he constantly reads, such as
Homer, Hebrew and Dutch. Franklin also expresses the idea of knowledge in a sense of morality by
explaining that it is important to be able to be advised, for without that one cannot be helped, and
therefore cannot learn. It was important to be able to learn in order to know what things lead to wealth.
For example, agriculture was a vital aspect of the colonial economy. It was important to note that
Staple Crops, such as tobacco, wheat, and corn, were the crops that helped provide a foundation in
which the colonies were able to grow rapidly. This is because most Puritans were farmers, and in order
for them to keep up with the economy and obtain more wealth, they had to take a morality based
approach on knowledge and

Loss Of Sleep Analysis
Adamoond s eyelids sagged heavily as he rested his head on his desk. Maybe it wasn t the best idea to
go on a League of Legends marathon yesterday. he thought. He had played over 10 hours of nonstop
League of Legends and had pulled an all nighter. He felt drowsy and loosened his muscles. The
teacher was talking about linking verbs, but he didn t care. He heaved out a big sigh as his thoughts
drifted away and he went to sleep. Have you ever felt like this? The role of sleeping and napping in
our lives is very important and necessary. There are a number of harmful effects that occur because of
sleep loss, but napping can mitigate these effects. First off, there is a right amount of sleep for
everyone and it is always different. On paragraph ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On page 4 it says that bad sleep habits and long term sleep loss can affect your long term health. But
on page 7, it says you can counteract the mistakes a tired person makes, if you take short naps.
Astronauts in space average 2 hours less sleep than usual as stated on page 6. This makes them
grumpy and have trouble concentrating. However, a nap could help them make fewer mistakes and
boost their mental performance. So you should try to get the right amount for your age group, or else
you will suffer these negative effects. Luckily, napping can help you regain lost sleep, help you focus,
and counteract the effects of loss of sleep. On page 6, it tells you that scientific studies prove the
benefits of naps. In fact, nappers may even have better long term health compared to people who don t
nap as stated on page 8. On nights when you don t get enough sleep, napping can help. Napping for as
little as 24 minutes improves your mental performance. Therefore, napping can help you if you don t
get enough sleep. In conclusion, there are many negative effects because of sleep loss but napping can
help lessen these effects. So for everyone, there is a right amount of sleep, but if that isn t met napping
can help reduce the bad effects that lack of sleep caused. Seems like Adamoond should have taken a

Introduction of Art Nouveau
Introduction to Art Nouveau
The Art Nouveau ( new art ) movement was one of the first departures from classical art and design,
towards a new modernism. The Modernism and Art Nouveau movements occurred during what was
known in France as the Belle Époque, or beautiful era period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The movement was primarily influenced by the radical work of Czech (Moravian) artist Alfons
Mucha, Swiss decorative artist Eugène Grasset, and English illustrator Aubrey Beardsley ( The
Peacock Skirt ) and the ground breaking architecture and design work of Hector Guimard of Paris and
Antoni Gaudí of Barcelona.
The Art Nouveau movement focussed heavily on the themes of nature, fantasy, and the female form,

In particular because of the art gallery La Maison de l Art Nouveau , which was opened as a
showroom for the new art by a Japanese art collector, Siegfried Bing.
All the Art Nouveau artists were largely reacting against the Classic aesthetic, a style described as
often fussy and inhibited. They found a freeing vocabulary in natural and organic forms. The
movement s signature motif was the S curve, which might be found in a flower s stem on a brooch or
the trail of smoke from a cigarette depicted in a theater poster.
The Art Nouveau artists were not shy about the naked body, contrary to their predecessors, and the Art
Nouveau style is often described as a feminine one. But some Art Nouveau was also geometric as the
forms designed by Wiener Werkstatte and Josef Hoffmann.

Three Examples Of Racial Discrimination In The Workplace
When I think of racial discrimination, I automatically include prejudice and stereotyping. I believe
that these go hand in hand and without one the others are irrelevant. Meaning, if we did not have racial
discrimination, prejudice and stereotyping would not exist. This is my personal belief. The definition
of race in our class book is as follows Race typically refers to appearances, such as skin color, hair
type (straight, curly, kinky), skin hue, eye color, stature, body size, nose, eyes, and head shape
(Robinson Wood, 2008). So racial discrimination could be defined as unequal treatment on the
premise of their race or ethnicity (Pager and Shepherd, 2008).
This paper will provide three examples of racial discrimination based on my experience or acts of
racial discrimination I have witnessed. I will begin with racial discrimination within my family,

Both Kim and Heather tried to apologize, but, my decision was to not have that type of negativity in
my life. I feel this to be racial discrimination as not only does the N word make an appearance in this
conversation, but for Heather to ask about their greasy hair and odor permeates racial discrimination
based on the hair and personal hygiene of African Americans.
Workplace Because I was a stay at home mom for most of my life, I have not had an opportunity to
witness any racial discrimination at the few jobs I did have. However, in attendance of a salon a few
years ago, I did witness racial discrimination while receiving a pedicure in Texas. The salon was
owned and operated by a Philippine brother and sister. I really enjoyed attending this salon, before the
incident I am going to describe, the brother and sister appeared to be open minded and free from
prejudice. The brother was so funny and upbeat. He would get the entire salon, laughing; until this

Business Laws And Ethic Hinder Your Company s Economic...
When deciding where in the world it is best to start a potential business or form a mutually beneficial
merger; What factors do you consider? Do you wonder if your own societal rules, customs and values
will clash with those of your new place of business? Would potential countries business laws and ethic
hinder your company s economic growth; or will those laws provide you aid. There are a number of
factors one needs to consider when deciding where to move or start your business, these are but a few.
1. Societal customs and values
China is a diverse country well known for its traditions and work ethic. Their culture focuses on the
wellbeing of the group over that of the individual; as such, they as a culture are very hard working and
will often go above and beyond the call of duty. Heavy emphasis is placed on integrity and formality
particularly those involving socializing. Introductions in china are as integral if not more than in the
united states; careful attention must be placed in how one approaches and introduces themselves lest
they make faux pas. In China rules concerning social etiquette forms not only the basis for propriety,
but also basis for many for their traditions. In a country who believes that all that swims, crawls,
slimes and walks is food; it is not surprising how large a role how food is eaten plays into the culture.
Introductions:
Typically begin with a bow or a preferably a nod of the head with the given meaning that you are

Sociological Structure of Haiti People
Sociological Structure of Haiti People
The past tribulation that Haiti as a country had to face from the long oppressive struggle was
surpassed after they were declared the first Black Republic. While the population of Haiiti has touched
5 million by 1980, the bludgeoning crisis of the country has not reduced in any extent. People are still
poor as the economic crisis has plummeted to the fullest point. The rural part of the country who lived
rather a decent life also moved to the urban areas for search of livelihood.
Family Structure and Authority
Haitian people believes in large family structure, the network includes large number of relatives and
friends (Dauphin, 2002). In the rural part of the country, the family follows the concept of courtyard
system (lakou) where a large group of unit shares a common space. Child care and working are shared
among the families living in the courtyard.
The urban concept of living is somewhat different from the rural areas, the ideas of living inspired by
the western culture, especially for the middle class society. Lakou are also seen in rural parts of the
city where there are concentration of shanty s.
The Haitian family structure is primarily patriarchal in nature. But since the patriarch is often absent
from the family scene because of work, the matriarchal system holds the supreme place to maintain
and manage a family (Bijoux, 1990, p. 31). Unlike the patriarchal system that essentially prevails in
the rural areas, the urban

Coyote s Mistake
Once in the plains of northern Montana, there was a Blackfoot tribe, who lived separated from nature,
they had lost their way. A great river separated their world in two, and only a divine spirit could get
the 2 sides to come together once again. In this village there lived a widow named Koko. She was a
kind spirit and had given birth to a girl, who she named, little fawn, or Awinita. Koko had a kind heart,
she cared for all things, she wanted to pass these values to her child so she would grow up to be just as
humble and compassionate. One day as Koko went out of her hut when she saw the warriors of the
camp gathering by the entrance to the camp, so, Koko went over to investigate. Coyote, a known

rippling as the moonlight hit its surface. A silver glow forms and cascades through the forest,
consuming Awinita in its depths. Seconds turn to minutes as the gathered hold their breath, all looking
for a single movement. Then suddenly a shape emerges from the fog s grasp, and just as quickly as it
appeared, it disappeared. Leaving only a trace of its existence. Standing where Awinita had stood, a
silver fox had taken her place. Only a mother knows her child, no matter what shape or form they
take. Only Dyani ran to the fox s side to greet her daughter s spirit. All the other animals bowed their
heads, showing respect to the spirit. Coyote Silverfox beckoned. Let us make peace. As my mothers

Comparing Two Different Styles. Two Stories. Both Of Which
Comparing Two Different Styles Two stories. Both of which were written on the grounds of the
controversial subject of abortion. Two stories. There is nearly an eighty year difference in publish
dates. T. Coraghessan Boyle s story The Love of My Life and Ernest Hemingway s story Hills like
White Elephants are both short stories about abortion. However, the stylistic techniques that both
writers exhibit are entirely different. These two well known authors both write entirely different from
each other; moreover, some of the writing choices made would strike a disagreement between Boyle
and Hemingway. Therefore, this begs the question: if Boyle were to revise Hemingway s story, what
would he modify? If this were to happen, Boyle would mainly ... Show more content on

On the contrary, Hemingway s short story does not establish a presence of Pathos. Hemingway does
very little in describing Jig and the American and both of their backgrounds. In fact, there is no textual
evidence regarding anything about these two characters. In Boyle s story, however, there is an ample
amount of background information supplied; this accomplishes the task of getting readers to
empathize for the characters which drives Pathos home to the heart. For example, when Boyle
expounds upon the future endeavors of the couple, he builds a relationship with the characters and the
readers; He d been accepted at Brown... ...own G.P.A. would put him in the top ten percent of their
graduating class. (para 13) Boyle further explains how China and Jeremy are both gifted students; he
also insinuates that they will go off and do remarkable things. Of course, this never happens.
However, the reader s want of success for the couple is present. This paves way for an emotional
connection. So, if Boyle were to revise Hemingway s short story, Boyle would expound upon Jig s and
the American s lives which would lead to an intimate connection between the two and the readers.
This would establish a sense of Pathos and empathy while explaining the characters more definitely.
Boyle and Hemingway s stories both a couple and a problem. Although the problem is universal, the
infrastructure of the problem differs. The infrastructure is primarily controlled by

Students From Low Income Families
Some people believe that students from low income families have little to offer. However, I consider
that low income students have extra to offer as they have emerged from harsh situations that have
nurtured hard work and encouraged their eagerness to succeed. My families financial situation is
below the poverty line which is why I am pursuing a higher education and career. For months during
high school, my family and I would receive our daily nutrients from soups and undergo months
deprived of electricity and water. Today, my family continues to struggle through financial hardships
that have led to various ventures in my life. For example, physical and mental strain. Yet, even after
every hardship, I ve realized that it is because of the hardships that I am pursuing a career in law and
that I ve grown to become a strong, independent woman. As I learn from my hardships, I can reassure
you that providing an impoverished student like me with the opportunity to enroll in law school will
become the biggest blessing to both my professional and educational development.
Early on the summer of my freshman year, my mother, the sole provider of my family, lost her job to a
work injury that left her in disability. After losing her employment, my family was no longer able to
pay the rent and home utilities punctually. At that time, I was on my last months of high school,
preparing myself to attend mandatory orientations for CAMP, a migrant program at the California
State University

Why The Articles Of Confederation Failed
During and subsequent to The American Revolutionary War, the new Country operated under The
Articles of Confederation. Fearing that any central government in time would grow oppressive and
tyrannical The Articles deliberately produced a weak government, which in time was destined to fail.
The primary causation for the Constitutional Convention of 1787 was the failure of the Articles of
Confederation. The Delegates of the Convention acknowledged that the only component that
possessed the ability to inhibit the public s freedom was their own government. Whether it was too
weak and decentralized (in that it gave too much power to the states) or too centralized and powerful
(similar to the British monarchy). The Constitution s Framers did not believe in a direct democracy;

X [...]a pure Democracy[...] can admit of no cure for the mischiefs of faction. A common passion or
interest will, in almost every case, be felt by a majority of the whole...and there is nothing to check the

always comply with the majority rule and therefore the minority will always be unrepresented. To
most elites Shays Rebellion showed that too much democratic liberty amongst the lower classes had
the potential to threaten private property. They were afraid that the state governments were being
dominated by the lower class that would institute bad policies such as the debt forgiveness.
Madison s rhetorical comparison of men to angels emphasizes that human nature is less than angelic.
Essentially if men were angels there would be no crime or conflict, there would not be a necessity for
a government or any accountability because there would be no fear of tyranny. Men are not angels and
are susceptible to corruption, Madison s quote speaks caution in the approach of a big

Vital Signs In the medical field, knowledge is the number key or tool to take control of a patients throughout your shift and career because not every patient will have the same symptoms or illness as one another. Vital signs is a much needed skill to keep your patients alive without reading the wrong results or documenting the wrong results. Vital signs are determined if your heart is pumping enough blood and oxygen to your entire body. Vital signs include respirations, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse. Or, you can place the tips of your index and second fingers on your lower neck on either side of your windpipe (Pulse and Target Heart Rate (THR), n.d.). Or, you can determine your pulse as I mentioned above on the different sites that you would like to do. However, your wrist is more common than any other site on your body. Secondly, after determining your site, you can press lightly on your fingers until you feel the blood pulsing beneath your fingers (Pulse and Target Heart Rate (THR), n.d.). If you can t find your pulse, you can move your fingers until you feel the heartbeat. You might have to press harder because some people s arteries and veins are closer to inside of the body. Thirdly, to count your heartrate, you re going to need to get a second hand watch, or you can use a clock with a second hand. Either one will work for the procedure or skill. Lastly, you will start counting when looking at the clock. You can determine your heart beat in thirty seconds. Once you have a number in thirty seconds, you can multiply by two sense it will equal a full minute. • 3. The Sports And Physical Activities Among Women In today s day and age, males are known to be the strong, athletic, and independent type of people, whereas females are known to be more of the obedient, quite, attractive side and the nurturers. Society expects males and females to adopt, and fulfill these specific gender stereotypes and roles that have been established over time. Whenever these gender norms are violated, it is common for labels to be given out such as, strong females being called lesbians, or butch automatically assuming they are manly with no intentions of liking makeup or enjoying to dress up. Traditional gender stereotypes and discrimination has remained consistent over the past centuries; and have been confronted and challenged by women and feminists all around the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People are bombarded with gender stereotypes and discrimination from the moment they were born. Once a newborn s sex is revealed, they are immediately dressed in in either pink or blue, given gifts of trucks and cars or dolls depending on their gender, and referred to as strong or delicate. These types of actions are only the first of many gender stereotypes an individual will encounter throughout their lifetime. Females are held accountable for being weak or feminine, where as males are expected to demonstrate certain behaviors and characteristics that are masculine. Traditionally, the female population has always been expected to do the cooking and cleaning, wear dresses, raise the children, maintain a perfect body and still remain pure. Women are known to be weaker then men, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Beginning at an early age, female s participation in athletics would have smaller numbers, with less intensity, and for shorter time spans than males. The female athlete is not only expected to be masculine, but she may place her feminism in jeopardy by others in society (Marsh, 1986). Females are expected to live up to these specific gender roles that are held by both men and women in society. It has influenced my feelings, thoughts, and actions. While there are many songs that mean a lot to me, the one song that has meant the most to me and positively influenced me throughout my life is the Christian song Stronger by Mandisa. The first time I heard Stronger was on the K Love Radio Station two days after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. It was stage two, so it was a pretty serious disease going throughout my mom s body. In the beginning, I was so upset and angry that something so terrible could happen to my family. When I heard this song, I knew it was exactly what I needed. It was like sunshine during a hailstorm. During such a time of turmoil, I never thought a song could change my attitude dramatically. My favorite line of the song says this, The pain ain t gonna last forever/ And things can only get better/ Believe me, this is gonna make you stronger . To me, these three lines told me that no matter what happened things could only go up, and I can be better from it. I now know this to be true. Because of my mom s fight, I have the courage to go after all of the things I thought I could not. For the first time, I was not scared of the future, as I used to be. Although Stronger was written in early 2011, I still listen to it very often. Every time the song brings back the terrible memories of both times the best person in my life had cancer. However, this song also brings back the amazing memories I had with my mom. Memories that show her courage and strength when I had little. One memory I had with my mom was sitting at Duke University hospital waiting on her final chemotherapy treatment before her surgery a few weeks ahead. The first three lines of the song perfectly described my life in that moment. As my mom and I listened, we just laughed at how much the song meant to the both of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Supply and Demand Aggregate Supply and Demand Economic Critique Rachel Middlebrook ECO/372 February 4, 2014 Rick Pretzsch Supply and Demand Economic Critique The United States economy is determined by a number of factors, such as; gross domestic product (GDP), unemployment rates, consumer income, and interest rates. Everything the U.S. produces is measured by the GDP. When the GDP turns negative, the economy can enter a recession. If this negative GDP continues for years the country is considered in a depression. Supply and demand are the forces drive the U.S. economy. As a result of this, the book was prohibited in many school libraries (Dutra). Many people in North America also find the references to sexual acts and prostitution to be completely disturbing, and consider them to be pornographic and encouraging of premarital sex, homosexuality and perversion (Reiff). This concern was much more prominent in the years leading up to the 1970s, when most of society was not open to this type of literature. Additionally, rebellion and deception are consistently displayed in Holden s thoughts and actions, and his obsession with human intimacy may send the message to young people that sexual intercouse is an appropriate thing for a person to discuss and think about regularly. Pete Docter, the director of Up, is able to use multiple tactics to display human emotions throughout the film including music and silence, lighting and colors, and 3 D filming. The efficacy of these tactics will be further analyzed to see if their use yields value to the production as a whole. The melodious instrumentals that accompany Up have the ability to plunge the audience deeper into the fantastic animated environment. The composer of the soundtrack for Up, Michael Giacchino, ... This is perfectly exemplified by the second portion of the films interlude, in which a montage of Carl and Ellie s married life is portrayed, supplemented by Giacchino s simple waltz. The waltz is originally upbeat and whimsical as scenes of Carl and Ellie s cute married life flash by, including picnics, homemaking, and clouds that inspire child birth. The tempo then slows and becomes depressing as the couple goes through the pains of a miscarriage. Carl is able to cheer Ellie up by renewing the prospect of adventure in their lives by bringing up Paradise Falls. The music once again takes up an optimistic note as the couple saves their change in a glass jar labeled Paradise Falls . Due to little accidents here and there the couple never really accumulates much money. After displaying years of precious moments to an upbeat tone, the waltz slows a little, as Carl realizes age taking its effects on Ellie. Right before Carl is able to take Ellie on the trip they ve always dreamed of, she is stricken with illness and hospitalized. The music becomes tremendously slow and very moving as Ellie dies, leaving Carl a widow. This five minute clip with the help of music elicits tears as efficiently as if a cloud of mace had been released into the theater (Stevens). Many top critics feel that this scene rivals with many other red carpet greats: The absence of words suggests that Mr. Docter and the co director Bob Peterson, with whom he wrote the ... • 16. Compromise Essay Compromise Essay Prior to the 1820 s, the people of the United States had been struggling to find a way to solve their sectional tensions brought on by slavery in the south. The south had always had an economy based on agriculture that could not strive without their uses of slavery. They did not plan on ending slavery anytime soon, especially since it was really all they had to support themselves. They were against establishing an industrial based economy like the north had began to do in the 1820 1830 s. The real cause of the sectional tensions between the North and the South during the 1820 s 1860 s was not slavery itself, but how it affected each society so differently, and it was very challenging to find a compromise to suit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Court also ruled that Congress lacked power to ban slavery in the U.S. territories. And lastly, the Court declared that the rights of slave owners were constitutionally protected by the Fifth Amendment because slaves were bought by owners, labeling them as property. In the North, antislavery supporters were outraged by the outcome of the Dred Scott case, strengthening the newly submitted Republican Party and helping ignite the violence between slave owners and abolitionists on the frontier. The Missouri Compromise was declared unconstitutional under the laws made in the Dred Scott v. Stanford Supreme Court Case in 1857. The case gave Northerners a reason to fear Southern slave power. It left the nation indecisive on the actions it should take to replenish the nation of what it needs to settle the sectional tensions in which were causing our country to fall apart. With the increased sectional tensions left untouched after the Missouri Compromise, California wants in as a free state. Again, Henry Clay suggests an idea to keep from the occurrence of another uprising like the one after the Missouri Compromise. The Compromise of 1850 had something to offer for the North and the South. The Compromise would allow California to become a free state, as a benefit for the North. It would also ban the selling of slaves in Washington D.C., another benefit to the North. To make the south happy, it strengthened ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martin Luther And The Reformation Thesis Statement The purpose of my paper will reflect the life of Martin Luther during the Reformation period and the changes brought forth as a result of his teachings and writings. Luther s findings not only transformed his own actions, but change the thought process of millions. The study of Martin Luther is the key that unlocks the background of the Protestant Reformation and it s origins. Introduction Research on Martin Luther was chosen to demonstrate the importance of his works, and decisions that not only fueled his purpose, but changed the church for generations to come. Martin Luther propelled himself into his work and was not afraid of voicing his often strong opinion of the Catholic Church. Luther s Ninety Five Theses provides readers his opinion of the church, calling out failures, and known corruption of leaders within. Foundation Martin Luther was born on November 10th, 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. He was the son of Hans and Margareth Luder. His father worked in a copper mine, and through years of hard work they became fruitful. Through his own personal struggles Hans Luder did not want the same life for beloved Martin. Education and faith played a huge role during Luther s adolescent years as he learned Latin and law and continue to excel in these areas well into his adulthood. This development would continue to shape Luther s beliefs and principles. In the early 1500s, Luther was able to continue his studies near Erfurt. At the young age of eighteen ... Many of these approaches are similar and compatible in nature, and as well have various looks that show their differences and incompatibilities. Let s explore how these organizations use systems and theories in their everyday work life and discover the incompatibilities between each of the approaches. Classic Management and its Structure The definition of Classical management states that it is a result of the early attempts to formalize principles for a growing number of professional managers (Jeliniek, 2005) . Mariann Jeliniek, Henri Fayol, and Frederick Winslow Taylor are all seen as the forefathers of classical management (Parker and Ritson, 2005). Classical theory sought rationality and order in the workplace, and worked through what they had called the one best way, which is what they had thought was the most logical division of labor, appropriate structure to relate the activities, the correct amount of control for directing activities, and as well the proper allocation of responsibility designated to a proper authority. These three classical theorists asserted their insights and became universally applicable to all organizations. To help ensure there was efficiency in the workplace there had to be specialized labor, proper direction and coordination, and effective planning in an organization. • 20. The Decision For El Salvador s Supreme Court Throughout the semester, students have learned of the importance of the interplay amongst different levels of actors in international relations politics. These various institutions, governments, groups, and individuals are especially important when considering the issue of human rights. My chosen article, co written by Elisabeth Malkin and Gene Palumbo, describes the landmark decision for El Salvador s Supreme Court to overturn an amnesty law that protected perpetrators of human rights violations. The ruling of the Supreme Court is based on the grounds that the amnesty is unconstitutional due to violating international human rights laws (Malkin, Palumba). This event is particularly important because previous governments ignored these violations that stemmed from civil unrest. The amnesty law was established in 1992 after a civil war of more than 12 years and effectively covers all crimes committed by both sides during the war (Dolliver, Kanavel, Robeck). However, due to its contestable legality both domestically and internationally, El Salvador s Supreme Court decided to rule on the amnesty s law constitutionality for the final time. This article is relevant in the context of increasing global concern over human rights. More recent debates in international relations discuss the importance of the individual over that of states and sovereignty, especially in a society in which national and global boundaries are being transcended and constantly undermined. Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the Unconscious Samuel Coleridge s poem Kubla Khan is a metaphorical journey through a complex labyrinth of symbols and images that represent the unconscious and seemingly troubled mind. It is a voyage that continually spirals downward toward uncharted depths, while illustrating the unpredictable battle between the conscious and the unconscious that exists inside every individual. Although there is no consistent syntax, rhyme, or meter in Kubla Khan, the poem begins its journey through the mind in a conscious and calculating manner. The first four lines of the poem, in fact, appear to almost directly derive from a passage of Purchas s Pilgrimage, as the narrative voice slowly drifts into a dreamlike state. Coleridge s paraphrasing of a relatively accessible, published piece of literature seems to provide the narrator with a solid foundation to build his seemingly inaccessible poem upon. The fifth line, however, is marked by an indentation. The words down to the sunless sea (5) appear to initiate an abrupt drop into the unconscious and away from the character Kubla. There is an initial sense of natural mysticism and Eastern tranquility among the gardens bright with sinuous rills (8) and a vibrant, incense bearing tree (9) in this scene of fertile greenery. Interestingly, the color green, uniquely, exists on a dual level, as it is able to convey the vitality of life and vegetation, while simultaneously conveying an undertone of fear, jealousy, ill humor, and sickness that most likely dominates Coleridge s own subconscious thoughts and soul green as emerald. This abundant greenery, however, is soon met by a romantic chasm (12) that ironically, is described as savage and haunted. When you stomp down on the brake pedal, the brake pads applies pressure and friction to the cars brake rotors which eventually slows it down to a stop. Water has a different specific heat than copper which has a different specific heat than gold. The reasoning behind this is the same reason why different substances have different melting and boiling points. Water for example has a very high specific heat needing 4.186 joule/gram °c to raise 1 gram by 1 °c. Why does water have such a high specific heat? Well, when something heats up, the particles vibrate and the more hot the object gets the faster they move. Waters molecules are not easily movable because of its molecular structure. Water molecules have a strong bond to each other because of the polarity of the molecule. One side is very positive and the other very negative. It is difficult to move or break these bonds because the positive is attracted to the negative. So what does that have to do with specific heat? The answer is that water has such a high specific heat because it is a polar liquid. hypothetically if water was not so polar it would have a lower specific heat because the bonds would not be so attracted to each ...
