Summary Of Conversation With Daniel Migliore s The...
3. In conversation with Daniel Migliore give an account of what it means to confess that God is triune.
Give care to an explication of economic and immanent trinity, and perichoresis.
In order to explain what it means to confess that God is triune, Migliore explains the origin of our
confession as well as the implications of a God who is three in one. In the following essay, I will give
an account of Migliore s description of how and why we confess the trinity before describing the three
interpretive statements Migliore offers to us in an attempt to explain the triune God in depth.
Migliore defines the Christian confession of God as triune as a summary description of the witness of
Scripture to God s unfathomable love incarnate in Jesus Christ and experienced and celebrated in the
community of faith (Migliore 67). He is quick to explain that the doctrine of the Trinity is not a
revealed doctrine...[because it] did not descend miraculously from heaven, nor was it written by God
on tablets of stone ; rather it is the product of the meditation and reflection of the church on the gospel
message over many centuries (67). That said, Migliore believes that a confession of the triune God has
both a biblical and experiential basis. He states if talk of the triune God is not to be wild speculation, it
will always find its basis and its limit both in the biblical narrative of God that comes to the world
through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the actual

Robert Manne s Stolen Children
The elective Australian voices examine the ideas, values and perspectives that are intrinsic to
Australian society. The voice in a text is a representation of experiences which reflect identity and
context and in Stolen Children: their stories, Carmel Bird explore the voices of the stolen generation
and that impact on both Aboriginal people and the broader Australian community and use different
language features to convey a distinctly Australian voice. Central to Bird s argument for the
importance of reconciliation is the structural organization of the book. It is this that allows her to
compare and contrast convergent and divergent views on the stolen generation and, convey the
diversity of Australian voices from the personal to the official. ... Show more content on

This is seen in the juxtaposition of the first two verses which contrast the common Monday morning
ritual of getting ready for work with the protest movements of the anti uranium demonstrations and
the Vietnam moratorium. The dreariness of going to work is symbolized by the wintry weather, cold
grey dawn and the weather prediction of is going to rain...blow so the repetition of it ll be alright, it ll

the second verse where Schumann highlights how sinister this complacent attitude can be when one of
his mates got dragged away at the demonstration and she repeats it ll be alright, it ll be alright...long

Civil Law
Civil law (common law)
Civil law is the branch of law dealing with disputes between individuals or organizations, in which
compensation may be awarded to the victim. For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages
against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil law
differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution. The law
relating to civil wrongs and quasi contract is part of the civil law.[2]
Overview
In the common law, civil law is the area of laws and justice that affect the legal status of individuals.
Civil law, in this sense, is usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge
madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it
is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent).[1][2]
Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and
systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon law,
feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and
legislative positivism.
Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes
substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to
statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of
specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the
judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally
trained career judges.
Overview
The purpose of codification is to provide all citizens with an accessible and written collection of the
laws which apply to them and which judges must follow. It is the most widespread system

Essay about The Controversy Over the Electoral College...
The Controversy Over the Electoral College System
A number of Americans fail to realize that when they vote they are not voting for the president and
vice president directly, but for electors who then cast their ballots in the Electoral College. Until the
recent battle between Gov. George W. Bush and Vice president Al Gore for the presidency, this new
generation of American voters has never witnessed a controversial election. Historically, there have
been problematic elections allowing voters to question this system. The Electoral College is now a
process open to criticism and debate, specifically because many do not understand its origin or
purpose today. On November 7, 2000, Election Day, I was excited to become an official voter. ...

Yet in the morning, I learn that Florida is again announced too close to call because by Florida law, the
percentage difference between the candidates was so marginal, a recount was necessary. Is this
possible to have such a close race and no president announced on Election Day? Because Al Gore had
a slim lead in the popular vote, the decision of which candidate receives the electoral votes in Florida
seemed irrelevant to the people. However, there have been many presidents who have merely won the
plurality vote, meaning they have not received a majority of the popular vote, but electoral votes,
therefore becoming minority presidents. John Quincy Adams, with 30.92 percent of the popular vote
defeated Andrew Jackson in 1824, which was decided by a contingency election in the House of
Representatives. Even Abraham Lincoln became a minority president in the election of 1860. He
polled the lowest popular vote percentage in the history of the presidency. In 1876, Rutherford B.
Hayes was elected with 47.95 percent of the popular vote and 185 electoral votes, compared to Tilden
who held 50.97 percent and 184. Minority presidents also include: Woodrow Wilson, Harry S.
Truman, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon(1968), and Bill ClintonHowever, the election of 1888 is
similar to our current situation. Benjamin Harrison won the election against Cleveland in which no
candidate polled a majority, yet Cleveland beat him in the

The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach
The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and
how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we
become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the
observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal
workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable
behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off
the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with
the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned
stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the
environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet.
The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at
the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is
associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at
this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many
occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus
produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time,
because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with
the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association
can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment
performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry
animals and

Black Like Me, By John Howard Griffin
Over fifty years ago, a Texan named John Howard Griffin decided to start a revolutionary experiment
to change the color of his skin and experience racism in the South firsthand. While considered
extremely controversial at the time, the arguments and teachings of Griffin in his book, Black Like
Me, are still scrutinized and discussed today. The book has continued to enlighten readers to the
oppressive, violent racism in America, and aided them in realizing that racism, while it may be hidden,
is still prevalent today. It has encouraged a new generation to work towards equality, while warning
about the dangers of supremacy, to progressively improve society for all. Readers are exposed to the
fact that many deny the existence of racism by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may be harmless, it still exists today. The idea that someone is different will subconsciously
make one act different, as Banaji experiences (Vedantam). Griffin too experiences this, when he is
hitchhiking and white males are offering him rides; he is astounded that they would ask such
provoking and private questions about his personal life. Griffin realizes that they would not ask the
same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a black man, they see
them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Many would believe it is not a racist act, as the white men are helping
them and they are not harming them. However, by treating them so rudely and cruelly, while it may be
unconsciously, they are affecting them psychologically, which is possible to do in many ways.
As society has progressed towards non violence, racism has changed into a different form, with
harsher psychological effects. A main cause of this psychological effect of racism is the stereotyping
that society has accepted as normal (Anderson). Although it may be unintentional, it is easy to deny
stereotyping exists, but difficult to prove that it does not exist. As Griffin recounts, white society had
everything sewed up. If you didn t...say yes, you were in deep trouble. If you did, then you allowed
[them] to go...on believing in the stereotype (Griffin 167). He explains the idea society had created of
a good Negro and a bad Negro, and reveals that African Americans

Significance Of Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
In the world of the novel The Great Gatsby, there are plenty of meaningful and impacting characters
throughout. Some have big roles and some have little, but none of them reach up to the standards of
the character Nick Carraway. Nick is in fact the foundation of this novel as he is labeled as the
narrator, he helps Gatsby reunite with his true love and he s the only one who knows the whole true
story of what goes on. Though this title of this novel is The Great Gatsby, the narrator is called Nick
Carraway, a man who represents the story as a whole and is the foundation to the story. Though he is
not the main character, the man Gatsby, the man who gives his name to this book. (Fitzgerald Pg. 6).

Smoke Signals Movie Essay
Saahil Diddee Ms.Borchers ENH 110 October 2nd, 2017 Fear of One s Past Everyone has obstacles
he/she has to go through when growing up. Some situations are just much worse than others. These
tragic memories stick with the person for their lifetime. Victor Joseph in the movie Smoke Signals is a
great example of a man with a very dour childhood that includes many hardships. Victor Joseph s
journey in Smoke Signals highlights the universal theme on fear of one s past. Firstly, the way Smoke
Signals brings this theme alive throughout Victors Joseph s journey. In the beginning, the movie
displays the chaos of the house fire that happened. This is the start of the disturbing memories victor
has to deal with as a child. He also then has to deal with his dad slapping his mother who then storms
out of their lives for no reason. Victor Joseph then grows up with these memories and questions and
starts to fear knowing anything about it. He and his mother become dolorous about the whole situation
and ignore it until they get to know that Arnold Joseph is dead. This moment brings back old
memories of his father and how Smoke Signals creates the flashbacks of his old times with his father.
Smoke Signals also introduces Suzy Song who helps us get to know Victor Josephs relationship with
his father, but Victor keeps hiding and putting lots of blame onto his ... Show more content on

Archetypal Hero Journey
The monumental piece of non fiction work titled The Hero with a Thousand Faces, first published in
1949 by Joseph Campbell points out an apparent monomyth of the hero through superb use of
example and literary analysis. In this book Campbell presents three main phases of the archetypal
hero; The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return. Within these three main phases there exist
numerous sub phases that describe nearly all aspects of the hero s journey and its impact upon the
entire monomyth. I have chosen to analyze the amazing journeys of the heroes Herakles, and
Odysseus. Herakles (whose name can be translated as Glory of Hera ) was a first generation
descendent of the great god Zeus; a result of the offspring produced by a ... Show more content on

It is interesting to note that Herakles receives little to no supernatural aide in this story, contrary to the
monomyth perhaps identifying as one of the great gods of the time. The journey s road of trials is very
evident in this myth as Herakles must perform ten (actually twelve due to stipulations by the king)
labors in order to achieve forgiveness and ultimately become immortal. Most heroes also experience a
metaphysical death in which they have to cross into the realm of the underworld and return with
knowledge or an item. Herakles does this for his twelfth and final labor, by traveling to the
underworld in order to capture the guardian of the underworld, Cerberus, and return him once the king
saw that he had completed the task. The final act that Herakles does that fits into the monomyth
archetype of the hero is his act of becoming immortal. Upon his death funeral pyre, when the flame is
lit he is risen up to Olympus and is granted the gift of immortality. This is significant for several
reasons; firstly it shows that Hera in fact did embrace him at the end of his journey by allowing him to
have immortality. Also his immortality

Greasy Lake By Tom Boyle
The short story Greasy Lake by Tom Boyle is about a young man and his friends who thought they
were some real bad characters. The main character and his two friends got into a series of events that
started with almost killing a young man for no reason, to almost raping a young woman which made
them reconsider how they wanted to live the rest of their adolescent life. During that night, the
narrator underwent a series of events that caused the destruction of his mom s car and the shattering
his self image. Throughout the short story Greasy Lake , you can find points that Boyle s use of the
first person colors the story in some situations while causing bias views to show though in others. The
narrator s use of the first person is use to create an idea of a bond between the friends, and he uses the
term we throughout the story to point out that the group was together through it all. In the beginning
of the story the narrator tells is that the gang of friends had went two nights without doing anything
interesting. Then, the third night Whatever it was we were looking for, we weren t going to find it at
greasy lake. Not that night. (295). This short quote shows me that the narrator was trying to tell us that
everything that was about to happen from that point on was a group decision. Also, to further
elaborate, I found the repetition of the word we to be a point of emphasis to try to negate some of the
future consequences of his actions to his friends despite

Themes In Tao Te Ching
The ideas presented in the Tao Te Ching are similar to those of the Bhagavadgita in many ways. There
is an emphasis on ridding oneself of worldly desires so that one can have self control over their own
senses since Conquering yourself is true strength (Addiss, Page 33). The Tao suggests that creating
order can be good, as long as one eventually allows the creation to undergo its own journey and not
try to dictate it. Give birth and do not possess. Excel but do not rule (Addiss, Page 10). There are
numerous references about what makes a good ruler in the Tao. I do nothing and people transform
themselves. I enjoy serenity and people govern themselves (Addiss, Page 57). The idea that when
people are left to themselves they eventually are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his life he had forsaken his goals, for the goals of the Japanese emperor. In doing so, he
had performed acts against the prisoners that he felt were morally wrong. He had always used his
powers for the sake of the empire and the emperor. His idea of his own goodness, though, was
becoming harder and harder to hold on to (Flanagan, Page 349). This quote shows that one can spend
their whole life serving a master, but at the end of life, it is not enough to follow the rules set by those
above one, but one must feel as if they attained and followed their own moral standards. The theme
present in the Tao and the Bhagavadgita that entails forsaking worldly possessions and desires would
create a more group oriented mentality and would allow all humans a basic standard of living. Instead
of having an extreme wage gap between classes, all people could have their necessities provided for. A
world in which possessions were not as highly valued would lead to less stealing, an ideal presented in
the Bhagavadgita. All these factors practiced together would lead to a more peaceful, group oriented,
non discriminatory

Research Paper On Cuban Embargo
It is said that President John F. Kennedy secured nearly 1,200 Cuban cigars just hours before enacting
the Cuban trade embargo in 1962. Many Americans probably wished they could have done this before
all trade between the United States and Cuba ceased as the United States now marks the 55th year of
an ongoing embargo against Cuba. On February 3, 1962 President Kennedy signed Proclamation 3447
to declare an embargo against all trade between the United States and Cuba. This embargo consists of
trade, travel, and commerce restrictions for all people and companies under United States jurisdiction.

Reflection On Trust
About a year ago today my family was going through many issues that affected my mental well being
tremendously. Being home was similar to being lost, it was a world I wasn t equipped for, and no
longer wanted to be apart of. Things at home took such a turn that my mother sent my sister to live in
Florida with her father, I knew then I no longer had a purpose to stay. Following this occasion, I
started to ask around for places to live, I even went as far as looking for rooms to rent in the area.
Generously one of my best friends, Jessica, offered to let me stay with her for the remainder of the
school year. She and her parents took me in days later, accepting me with loving arms. Living with my
friends family started to become more of a home to me than any home I d lived in prior. This
transformation in my life was one of the first in which I allowed myself to be cared for by others. With
this I want to explore the idea of trust within my life, and how it has affected me. Trust is something I
was taught over time not to believe in, or more importantly I was shown not to believe in. Throughout
many of my life experiences I ve learned that trust can only be plausible if my attitudes towards the
idea would permit it. My sense of trust within people has been diminished, leaving me with the notion
that trusting is a huge risk. The risk of being let down by someone who chose not to commit to an act,
is a risk I am normally am not able to perform. After countless occasions of

Ordinary Men Essay
Analysis of Ordinary Men
What do you see when you think about the Holocaust? What are things you associate with it?
Personally I think about the absolute evil of the Nazis and the horrible things that the Jews had to
endure. I think about how gut wrenchingly terrible of a life style every one of those people had to live
through and what it would be like to have been in their place. What I don t think about and had never
even considered before reading the book Ordinary Men is what it was like to be a member of one of
the police battalions that had to do all these gut wrenchingly terrible crimes toward innocent human
beings. I saw them as trained cold blooded killers, robots under Hitler s command, and nothing else.
While reading this book I began to realize that these people were living human beings too, that at first
felt disgusted by what they were instructed to do too and that s what I think the author, Christopher
Browning, was trying to do. He is saying that these men were just regular people that were trained to
kill and that if we re not aware of this phenomena that it could happen again. The Order Police began
after World War I. Germany was trying to create an army of police that had military training and
possessed military equipment since under the Treaty of Versailles they were not allowed to have a
large army. By 1941 The Order Police became heavily involved in the slaughter of Soviet Jews. They
were given a Commissar Order which authorized the

Blood Donation around the World
The average adult has approximately five liters of blood coursing through the vessel and delivering
essential element. Without blood, the human body would stop working. Blood is fluid of life and
health for each individual body. Every single drop of blood contains millions of red blood cells which
functions as transporting oxygen to all parts of the body. If there are scarce, it will disrupt blood
circulation of the body gradually. This phenomenon usually arises during severe blood injury. At this
moment, blood transfusion is the best way to overcome this kind of case. Thanks to an Arabic scholar,
Ibn Al Nafis who discovered in 1260 AD on minor circulation of blood in the body which then lead to
idea of blood transfusion. (1) Nevertheless, the blood supply is still on demand. According to statistics
in America Red Cross, more than 41,000 blood donations are needed every day for variety of
purposes. (2) Maintaining blood supply remains arduous till now. Hence, in order to attract people to
donate blood, some arguments are evolved whether payment or other reward should be done to
increase the blood sources.(3) Therefore, the outcome of this argument is a new type of blood
donation is produced which known as paid blood donation. This kind of donor contradicts to volunteer
blood donor. Paid blood donor defines as a person who receives incentives for their contribution of
blood. Jay Pennington voices out that nothing is free in the life. This statement initiates his article

Acid Rain Lab Report
Introduction
On Thursday, October 6th, 2016 I studied the Conodoguinet Creek in Cumberland County, PA. I went
to the creek to study the health of the creek itself (Phosphate levels, Nitrate levels, Dissolved Oxygen
levels, pH levels, and Alkalinity levels). My hypothesis was: If I test the Conodoguinet Creek for signs
of acid rain, eutrophication, or other types of pollution, then the tests will reveal that the creek is
healthy and has very low levels of pollution. Eutrophication, is the excessive richness of nutrients in a
lake or other bodies of water, frequently due to runoff from the land, which causes a dense growth of
plant life and death of animal life due to lack of dissolved oxygen. Dissolved Oxygen (or DO), is the
microscopic bubbles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After I saw this, I inferred that the creek was not heavily polluted at all. If the creek was heavily
polluted, then there would not be much healthy plant life around the creek. However, the
Conodoguinet had a lively amount of plant life so, it was already not heavily polluted. After I actually
got close to the creek I saw that there was a small amount of algae, this meant that the creek most
likely has a small amount of pollution. If a creek has a small amount of pollution that is not bad
however, if a creek has a lot of pollution, then there is a problem. Some different types of organisms in
the creek are macroinvertebrates, crustaceans, and other organisms. A macroinvertebrate is the term
used for an invertebrates that can be caught by a 500 micrometer net or sieve. A crustacean is an
arthropod of the large, mainly aquatic group Crustacea, such as a crab, lobster, shrimp, or barnicle.
When I got in the creek, I saw an immense amount of critters that lived under the rocks and it the soil.
These critters included 15 clam, 2 water pennies, 5 may fly, 5 gilled snails, 10 stone fly, and finally I
also saw 3 crayfish. These critters are separated into 3 different groups based on their sensitivity to
pollution and in the creek, most of the critters that I found belong to group one. Group 1 is the group
that is most sensitive to pollution, this means that the organisms in

The Decline Of The Latin American And Caribbean Region
For the Latin American/Caribbean region, one human induced environmental problem would be the
severity of deforestation due to mining practices. According to Lisa Naughton s lecture, the price of
gold has skyrocketed due to the stock market crash, leading to a higher demand of gold and driving
roughly 7,000 miners into the forest, making this a global resource demand. Gold mining has a
significant history South America. According to page 281 of the textbook, Spain demanded that their
colonies provide gold and silver for the Spanish crown during the 1500s, with the crown itself
demanding 20% of all mining profits. Also, outsiders are no strangers to destroying South America s

Fish makes up about 80 percent of protein (Where Have All The Fish Gone? Film) in the Khmer
people s diet, and the downstream impact of the Yali Dam has led to high toxicity levels in the streams
that have killed off the fish. Not only does this affect their diets, but it also affects their economy,
since fish is a main export of Southeast Asia. The Mekong River Commission estimated that $200
million of fish migrate up the Hou Sahong channel a year (Biard, Lecture). The Don Sahong dam
would block this channel, which would impact thousands of people. This problem is a result of local
resource use, since the purpose of this dam is to generate electricity specifically for Cambodia.
Southeast Asia becoming so dependent on exports, such as fish, has increased the severity of this
issue. According to page 404 in the textbook, during the 1970s and 1980s, many southeastern
countries have shifted their focus to developing products that could be exported all over the world.
Similarly to those demanding gold from Latin America, the corporations in charge of the dams care
about benefiting from its profits. According to Baird s article, the main objective of building the Don
Sahong Dam is to generate revenue by exporting electricity to Thailand or Cambodia. Those who
consider this Dam to be a problem would be the people of Cambodia and Laos who depend on the
river for food and survival.

The Influence Of Political Socialization
Growing up, our views on politics and the government were always one sided because of the fact, that
we didn t understand much about any political situation but just hear what our parents or family
members had to say and agree with it. As we got older we started to develop and interest for politics
and become more active in it as it will later shape our futures. This process, in which we form ideas
about politics is what we call, political socialization. Given a quiz before hand, we were tested on out
political socialization to be shown what our views lean towards. Our group was tested to see where
they thought they stood on a scale labeling us to either be more liberal or more conservative. Later
during the quiz, we were given specific questions that would place place us on a two dimensional
ideology diagram to see where we actually stood from answering the questions truthfully. Our group
will compare and contrast each other s personal results from taking the quiz and also talk about the
publics placement. Knowing that we all live a different life growing up, we will always have our own
experiences and develop new ideas and views towards our politics and government. With attention to,
political socialization is mainly shaped during our childhood, people continue to shape their political
views throughout their lives. Being that family is the most political influence through our lives we
always look to them when we are confused or questioned amongst politics. For example,

How To Collect Replica Coins
If you re looking for a fun hobby to do with your kids, you may want to look into collecting replica
coins. This is an interesting and fun hobby for kids who enjoy history or who identify with certain
periods of time such as the biblical era or the Old West. Here are some things you may want to know
about collecting replica coins. Replica Coins Are Very Close To The Originals Replica coins are fun to
own because they look almost exactly like the real thing. This whisks you back in time or to a far off
place where the coins were originally used. Replicas aren t exact duplicates because that would be
counterfeiting. Also, various coin collecting organizations have regulations that coin makers tend to
comply with that identify a replica coin. The wording may be slightly different or the coin size may be
larger or smaller. This eliminates confusion over whether the coin is real when it comes to placing a
value on it. However, to the casual collector, the coins appear the same as the original, but they are
vastly less expensive to collect. This makes it affordable to add to your coin collection so your kids
can watch it grow over the years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you want to buy them as an investment vehicle, then you ll want to get advice from a professional
coin collector before you jump into the market. There is no guarantee replica coins will hold value or
increase in value and you may not be sure of the metal content of the coins you buy. Buying from a
reputable dealer and buying with guidance is best if you want to buy replica coins for their value.

Pros And Cons Of Spirit Family Support Shelter
DISCUSSION A. Does Spirit Family Support Shelter constitute as a dwelling under the Fair Housing
Act (FHA)? The first issue is whether Spirit Family Support Shelter qualifies as a dwelling under the
Fair Housing Act. Under the FHA, a dwelling is any building, structure, or portion thereof, for
purposes of occupancy, as a residence by one or more families, and any vacant land offered for sale or
lease for the construction, or location of any such building, structure, or portion thereof. Fair Housing

demarcated residence to mean a temporary or permanent dwelling place, abode, or habitation that one
intends to return to, as opposed to a place temporary sojourn or transient visit. Defiore v. City Rescue

shelter as a place to return to during that period. U.S. v. Columbus Country Club, 915 F.2d 877, 881

The Statue Of Liberty
Throughout centuries, architecture and monuments have given America the name it has today. Some
of the oldest forms of art made on American soil hundreds of years ago are what is cherished dearly
today. There are over a hundred different statues alone in the US that near and dear to us all but
thousands forms of art that makes Americans proud to be called American. United States is a place
that underwent plenty of struggles and monumental milestones to make it the powerful land it has
become today. With the help of records and fine sculpted precise art, America is a place with history
that will never fade. Liberty Enlightening the World, known as The Statue of Liberty, was presented to
the United States in 1886 as a gift from France. The 152 foot figure was sculpted by Frederic Auguste
Bartholdi and constructed around an iron skeleton engineered by Gustav Eiffel. It stands on a 89 foot
pedestal designed by Richard Morris Hunt, with Emma Lazarus s sonnet The New Colossus ( Give me
your tired, your poor, your huddled masses ) inscribed on a bronze plaque at the base. Over the course
of time the statue has become what its creators dreamed it would be, the single most powerful symbol
of America and one of the world s great monumental sculptures. Inside the statue s pedestal is a
museum that exceedingly informative and entertaining. There is no admission fee for either the Statue

the Orbit Determination (OD) abilities of FreeFlyer. We do have some suggestions to help in

To recap, you have three separate MP s; the first is to setup your spacecraft and export the state vector
as an ephemeris. Then the second MP is used to apply the Black Jack point solution data file to the
ephemeris file using a Kalman Filter tool. The final MP then uses the Tracking Data Editor to generate

The Spacecraft step size should be identical to the Kalman Filter step size. This is mainly due to the
Kalman Filter step size taking precedent in FreeFlyer and wanting to ensure that the spacecraft
propagation is synced with the Kalman Filter. o Also under the Motion Model you are using 22 Zonal

larger number. I have updated the Zonals and Tesserals, in the attached MP, to use 40

Benefit Of The International Space Station
Benefits of the International Space Station to Earth Space is a place where no ground can be felt,
sound can t be heard, and every direction is endless darkness. There are people who spend their lives
studying space and how it differs from Earth. With the help of experts from 15 nations, The
International Space Station (ISS) has been built. The space station travels in our orbit at 17,500 miles
per hour and orbits the earth every ninety minutes. The ISS gives scientists a better understanding of
how life works in zero gravity.
The space station was not always there. It took about thirteen years to complete, and it all started in
1984. On January 25, 1984, President Ronald Reagan s State of the Union Address directed the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to build an international space station within
the next 10 years. (History and Timeline). That was the first time anyone had ever heard of a space
station and they had no idea what it could be used for. In November of 1998, Russia launched the
Russian Zarya control module into orbit which the first piece of the ISS. (History and Timeline)
Technology was not the greatest back then so it took another two years for the station to be suitable for
people to live on it. It is not easy to get parts and payloads to the space station. To get a shuttle up to

Poor university students would search the markets for the best price on radio parts and then use said
parts to create a radio to resell (DrSenbei). However, the black market craze did not last too long
because open air markets were banned in 1949 to stop the unregulated trades. Stall owners fought
back by rallying with the Vendors Union at government buildings. The government s response was to
allot space for the merchants on the station grounds. Many merchants went around this by building
their own stores, some of which were seven stories tall. They used these stores to capitalize the post
war economy through the sale of household electronics (DrSenbei). The next generation had unlimited
luxuries because of their fathers large salaries. Their time was occupied with any new gadget that
came out, and they sparked the beginning of the otaku (diehard fan) revolution that has now taken
over Akihabara.
With the creation of computers and the internet, the building blocks for a new Akihabara were set in
place. Computer shops sprang up all throughout the district and the population began to shift from full
families to young men looking to set up shop. Personal Computers were being sold more often than
household electronics by 1994. This is what truly changed the future of the Akihabara district
(DrSenbei). A few doujinshi (a fan made manga) shops began to pop up in the district, most having

Critical Analysis Of A Neural Network
First, we have encountered one major problem that is how to interpret a neural network given its black
box characteristics. We really wanted to try ourselves, giving interpretation of our results so that we

The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking
The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking Abstract Society relies heavily on technology for
many things, but our use of technology opens us up to become victims of cybercrimes, like computer

has been in the information technology (IT) field for a while. The first hackers appeared in the
nineteen sixties and hackers have continued to make progress since then. People hack for a variety of
reasons including ego, fun, knowledge, and profit. The first major hacking program, SATAN, caused

Originally the term hack was used to describe what club members did to electric tracks and switches
to make them run quicker or better (Lilley 2002, 16). In 1978 Randy Suess and Ward Christiansen
created the first online bulletin board system where hackers could exchange tips, information, and
stolen passwords and credit card numbers. There are currently over 40,000 bulletins worldwide (Lilley
2002, 16). The United States Congress passed the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in 1986. The Act
recognized the unauthorized access of federal interest computer with the intention to commit
fraudulent theft and the altering of information to inflict malicious damage as felony offences (Lilley
2002, 16). During the Gulf War two teenaged Dutch hackers copied information from the Defense
Department systems. Although the US General Accounting Office said that the information was
unclassified, it was still sensitive and the teenagers tried to sell the information to the Iraqis. One
might ask what the reward is in hacking if any. Some hackers do what they do for knowledge and ego,
while others do it for fun and profit. Learning to crack the codes of different and more complex
websites provides hackers with more knowledge and tricks that can help them make names for
themselves as elite hackers in the hacking community. Many hackers pick large groups or government
entities for attacks aimed at making a big splash (Crume 2000, 29). The more high profile the

What Citizenship Means To Me
So what does citizenship means to me? Is it just a piece of paper that says you are a citizen of a
country or does it mean something more in a deeper level. When I was just a little boy my mother
always talks about that when we move to the United States we should apply for citizenship
immediately. As I was growing up here in the United States I slowly understand what citizenship
means to me. Being a citizen for me is fulfilling my obligations toward my country, Living a lifestyle
that benefits myself and my community and having good sense of patriotism.

Showing respect for our surroundings is another way of being a good citizen. Cleaning our
surroundings and not littering around the area is one way to show our respect for our surroundings. If
we see garbage lying around the area we should immediately pick it up and throw in the proper waste
container because it shows how we like the place that we live in to be clean. Being respectful towards
our government also shows what good citizenship is. Not talking bad about our government and
supporting our government on their decisions is one way to show that we are living a in a good
community that respects our countries government. In closing living a lifestyle that benefits me and
my community is what citizenship means to me.
Showing a good sense of patriotism is what citizenship means to me. We can show our patriotism by
showing our support in our military. Standing by what they are fighting for because our military have
sacrificed many lives in defending our country. Showing them that we care about their well being is
one way of being a good citizen. We can also show a good sense of patriotism by showing respect on

anthem shows our deepest respect on our nation s colors and those who have died defending them.

Permanence Of Loss
Most young children have at least a vague idea what death is they might know its name, how it affects
the adults in their life, that some of their favorite movie or book characters have experienced it but
when a child loses a pet they are confronted by mortality for what is often the first time.
Dogs and other pets are often loyal companions who spend years alongside your family, providing
unconditional joy and love. Grieving the loss of such a friend is natural and healthy.
So how can you best help your child manage and move on from their grief? Before beginning the
daunting endeavor of teaching your child how to cope with a broken heart, ask a few basic questions
of yourself about your child.

By grade school, children generally have a better understanding of the finality of loss; this expanded
view of life often leaves children with more questions. You can best help your child by listening to
these questions. It s okay to admit you don t have the answer what s important is building a
relationship in which your child feels you are emotionally available to them.
What can I learn about how my child is coping from his/her behavior?
Despite developmental factors, the experience of loss can differ dramatically from child to child, and a

Living On The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
San Andreas Essay
There are thousands of people living in San Francisco, without knowing that they are at a high risk of
fatality at this moment. People should not be living too close or on a fault line, especially without the
knowledge of the risks they are taking. The San Andreas fault line is a juncture of the Pacific and
North America plates. The fault line is 800 miles long. It starts close to Eureka and ends above
Brawly. Scientists predict that an earthquake can happen at the San Andreas fault line any moment
right now and with very high likelihood of happening sometime before 2032. In the event of an
earthquake, many lives will be lost, money will be spent, and in some cases, residents are ignorant of
the peril.
Many lives will be lost when the next earthquake strikes. During the 1906 San Francisco earthquake,
more than 700 fatalities occurred. This could happen again if people continue to live on the fault line.
While the earthquake will cause numerous amounts of death, the fires, and tsunamis the earthquake
creates will cause even more destruction and devastation. Most of the deaths from the 1906
earthquake were mainly caused by the fires that the earthquake caused. When the next earthquake

Pulp Fiction Themes
Pulp Fiction (1994) is a mesmerizing, violent and entertaining movie. It has a bizarre cast of
characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying
theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules
(Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis).
In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the
conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in
Europe. As the movie moves on, other references are the Fonz on Happy Days, Arnold the Pig on

Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system
of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that
system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless
to him.
In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things.
What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo
(Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers
to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a
chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is
America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting
ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call
something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might
judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the
Fonz or Buddy Holly.
This absence of any kind of system for making value judgments, this lack of a larger meaning to their
lives, creates a

Q1 How can teachers use newsletters to encourage parental involvement?
By offering a variety of options for parental involvement (NQS PLP, 2012), teachers provide parents
with freedom of choice.
By informing parents of the ways in which they may be able to assist (Fellowes, 2010), paired with
flexible commitment offers, teachers are setting a comfortable and casual scene for parents to become
involved in their child s learning.
As Fellowes (2010) suggests, it is important for teachers to share their knowledge and experience with
parents.
By providing some insight into the daily teaching methods, teachers are using newsletters to invite
parents into the classroom. Equipping parents with the information they require to deepen their
knowledge and assist in making them feel confident in their involvement.
The combination of teaching strategies and resources (Fellowes, 2010) for home use provided in the
newsletter equip parents with a sound knowledge base, empowering them to become involved.

Okay, I don t know what else to say besides the fact that I absolutely loved this book. I really enjoy

One of Jane Austin s most popular works and one that I am personally familiar with is Pride and
Prejudice. It is believed that Jane Austen began writing Pride and Prejudice between the years of 1795
to 1799. However, the original title for Pride and Prejudice was said to be First Impressions. First
Impressions was submitted by Jane s father to a publisher but was not even accepted for a read over.
However, during Jane s thirties, she began to publish her works anonymously. This was probably due
to the fact that during Jane s era, women were only regarded as home keepers. After Jane s novel
Sense and Sensibility was published, Jane was encouraged to revise First Impression. It is said that
Jane was inspired to change the title to Pride and Prejudice which she had gotten from a phrase she
read in English author Frances Burney s work titled Cecilia (Memoirs of an Heiress). Pride and
Prejudice was published in the year of 1813. Her other works, Sense and Sensibility was published in
1811, Mansfiled Park in 1814, Emma in 1816 and Northanger Abbey / Persuasion in 1818 (see;

1. Bismarck s foreign policy was entirely based on preserving his power and Germany s throughout
Europe. After 1870 he was against the idea of expanding Germany and believed that the country was
satiated. Instead, Bismarck wanted to keep the peace among European countries rather than engaging
in war, therefore keeping Germany safe from attack. He planned to do this through the use of gaining
european alliances which included Austria Hungary, Italy, and Russia. Believing that France would
remain Germany s enemy because of the annexation of Alsace Lorraine, an action he had opposed
because of the enmity it would cause, he left France isolated (Germany ... Show more content on

In contrast to Bismarck, Kaiser believed that in order to keep Germany in power and prevent them
from defeat he had to build and strengthen a navy as strong as, if not stronger than England s. In all,
Kaiser s end goal was to make Germany the strongest country in power out of Europe, whereas
Bismarck was content with having good relations with different European countries but also
maintaining his own power throughout the land that he owned.
Bismarck s decisions and policy effected the first World War when he used a series of conflicts to
bring Germany together but also create several enemies. One of these enemies being France played a
big part in World War I later because Germany took the former French territory of Alsace Lorraine.
This conflict that took place during the time of Bismarck s reign gave France a motive to fight against
Germany. Wilhelm on the other hand played a far bigger role in the war. Because of a quarrel amongst
Serbia and Germany, he asked Austria Hungary to attack Serbia and thus pulling Britain, France, and
Russia into the war ( Firstworldwar ). his aggressive tactics and need for power created many enemies
and caused the German Empire to lose a lot of power leading up to the war.

The Five Pillar Of Islam
The pilgrimage to Mecca, which is the fifth Pillar of Islam, is known as hajj. The Five Pillars of Islam
are the foundation of the entire religion, and dictate the actions of every Muslim in both a private and
public manner (Western Traditions 244). The first Pillar is shahadah: to declare, or bear witness, that
there is no god except God (Allah), and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Western Traditions
244). The second Pillar is salat: to establish regular worship (Western Traditions 244) also known as
prayer which must occur five times a day. The third Pillar is almsgiving: which requires paying the
Zakat alms (Western Traditions 244). The fourth Pillar is the Ramadan fast: which is a month long fast
that the Quran recognizes as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peer notes that today, Mecca is a city of more than one and a half million people (Peer The Modern
Mecca), and that every year during hajj between two to three million pilgrims flood into Mecca as
well. As we can imagine, this number is significantly larger than it would have been when the tradition
of the pilgrimage was formed, and therefor the logistics of completing specific rituals becomes
challenging. One example of this is seen in the desire to kiss the stone that was part of Abraham s Ka
ba, something that Muhammad had done on his own hajj (Peer The Modern Mecca). Unfortunately,
because of the immense number of pilgrims trying to kiss the stone, it is impossible for everyone to
even come close to accomplishing this. Many Pilgrims raised smart phones above their heads to
record the moment (Peer The Modern Mecca), as physical contact was nearly impossible, highlighting
the ways in which hajj has been modernized yet remains so important. Peer himself was unable to kiss
the stone, but feels comfort in knowing that this is a common reality for most pilgrims, including
Malcolm X, who also was not able to reach the stone during his pilgrimage (Peer The Modern Mecca).
Also, Islam is very aware that not every Muslim will be able to complete their hajj so alternate options
are given for those who may not be able to attend

Buffalo River Research Paper
The Buffalo River area is a karst environment with attendant sinkhole and cave formation. Limestone,
composed primarily of CaCO3 and dolomite composed primarily of CaMg(CO3)2, are the two soluble
rock types in the area that host the karst features. Water in contact with air picks up carbon dioxide
some of which transforms to carbonic acid, and this acid then dissolves the carbonate minerals,
carrying the ions out in solution (e.g. Trudgill 1985). Limestone and dolomite layers vary in impurities
and grain size so that different layers are more or less prone to dissolution, with dolomite generally
being less soluble than limestone. To erode these rock formations with very low intergrain porosity
and permeability, there has to be exposed surface area and so faults and joints within the rock greatly
increase the rate in which the rock will dissolve, and partly control the location of ... Show more

The Boone and Everton have about equal mechanical resistance, but the Boone, mainly composed of
limestone, has less chemical resistance and therefore the valley width is wider and more karst features
can be seen within the exposed formation (Keen Zebert 2016). Exposed paleocaves are seen in the
cliffs along the Buffalo River, but the area has abundant cave systems that can be available for
viewing or are unable to be accessed by humans. Caverns such as Mystic Caverns and Blanchard
Springs Caverns (described in a later section) are visited by hundreds each year and showcase cave
formations open to the public. Throughout the landscape of the Buffalo River area and Arkansas,
sunken lakes can be seen with some being identified as filled sinkholes. Also along the Indian

  • 2. Summary Of Conversation With Daniel Migliore s The... 3. In conversation with Daniel Migliore give an account of what it means to confess that God is triune. Give care to an explication of economic and immanent trinity, and perichoresis. In order to explain what it means to confess that God is triune, Migliore explains the origin of our confession as well as the implications of a God who is three in one. In the following essay, I will give an account of Migliore s description of how and why we confess the trinity before describing the three interpretive statements Migliore offers to us in an attempt to explain the triune God in depth. Migliore defines the Christian confession of God as triune as a summary description of the witness of Scripture to God s unfathomable love incarnate in Jesus Christ and experienced and celebrated in the community of faith (Migliore 67). He is quick to explain that the doctrine of the Trinity is not a revealed doctrine...[because it] did not descend miraculously from heaven, nor was it written by God on tablets of stone ; rather it is the product of the meditation and reflection of the church on the gospel message over many centuries (67). That said, Migliore believes that a confession of the triune God has both a biblical and experiential basis. He states if talk of the triune God is not to be wild speculation, it will always find its basis and its limit both in the biblical narrative of God that comes to the world through Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the actual ... For instance, if a car crash victim claims damages against the driver for loss or injury sustained in an accident, this will be a civil law case.[1] Civil law differs from criminal law, whose emphasis is more on punishment than in dispute resolution. This can be contrasted with common law systems whose intellectual framework comes from judge madedecisional law which gives precedential authority to prior court decisions on the principle that it is unfair to treat similar facts differently on different occasions (doctrine of judicial precedent).[1][2] Historically, civil law existed in the times of Ancient Egypt and it is the group of legal ideas and systems ultimately derived from the Code of Justinian, but heavily overlaid by Germanic, canon law, feudal, and local practices,[3] as well as doctrinal strains such as natural law, codification, and legislative positivism. Conceptually, civil law proceeds from abstractions, formulates general principles, and distinguishes substantive rules from procedural rules.[4] It holds case law to be secondary and subordinate to statutory law, and the court system is usuallyinquisitorial, unbound by precedent, and composed of specially trained judicial officers with a limited authority to interpret law.Juries separate from the judges are not used, although in some cases, benches may be sat by lay judges alongside legally trained career judges. The Controversy Over the Electoral College System A number of Americans fail to realize that when they vote they are not voting for the president and vice president directly, but for electors who then cast their ballots in the Electoral College. Until the recent battle between Gov. George W. Bush and Vice president Al Gore for the presidency, this new generation of American voters has never witnessed a controversial election. Historically, there have been problematic elections allowing voters to question this system. The Electoral College is now a process open to criticism and debate, specifically because many do not understand its origin or purpose today. Yet in the morning, I learn that Florida is again announced too close to call because by Florida law, the percentage difference between the candidates was so marginal, a recount was necessary. Is this possible to have such a close race and no president announced on Election Day? Because Al Gore had a slim lead in the popular vote, the decision of which candidate receives the electoral votes in Florida seemed irrelevant to the people. However, there have been many presidents who have merely won the plurality vote, meaning they have not received a majority of the popular vote, but electoral votes, therefore becoming minority presidents. John Quincy Adams, with 30.92 percent of the popular vote defeated Andrew Jackson in 1824, which was decided by a contingency election in the House of Representatives. Even Abraham Lincoln became a minority president in the election of 1860. He polled the lowest popular vote percentage in the history of the presidency. In 1876, Rutherford B. • 6. The Learning ( Or Behaviourist ) Approach The learning (or behaviourist) approach, at its core, is about how experience affects our behaviour and how we learn behaviours. This approach postulates that all humans are born as blank slates and we become shaped by the environment that the person lives in. Behaviourism is concerned with the observable characteristics of humankind; their behaviour. This approach dismisses any internal workings because these workings are too subjective and difficult to observe; whereas observable behaviour can be scientifically and objectively measured, so more concrete theories can be based off the research undertaken into behaviour. Unsurprisingly, the behaviourist approach works closely with the experimental branch of psychology, and it also works ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The process of this conditioning is associating a neutral stimulus (the bell) with a unconditioned stimulus (the food) and unconditioned response (the salivation); this means that a stimulus in the environment produces a behaviour that is innate, or natural no new behaviours have been learned, yet. The neutral stimulus does not produce a response unless it is paired with the unconditioned stimulus at the start of conditioning. During conditioning the stimulus that produces no response (i.e. neutral) is associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point it becomes a conditioned stimulus. Often, at this stage, the unconditioned stimulus needs to be associated with the conditioned stimulus on many occasions or trials for learning to take place. However, this is not always the case; if a neutral stimulus produces sickness or ill health, then the association does not need to be strengthened over time, because the response it produces is so violent. Now, the conditioned stimulus has been associated with the unconditioned stimulus to the point where it can produce a conditioned response. This association can then be generalized to other, similar objects; as was shown in the Little Albert experiment performed by Watson, when the baby s fear of the white rat had been generalized to other similar furry animals and ... While considered extremely controversial at the time, the arguments and teachings of Griffin in his book, Black Like Me, are still scrutinized and discussed today. The book has continued to enlighten readers to the oppressive, violent racism in America, and aided them in realizing that racism, while it may be hidden, is still prevalent today. The idea that someone is different will subconsciously make one act different, as Banaji experiences (Vedantam). Griffin too experiences this, when he is hitchhiking and white males are offering him rides; he is astounded that they would ask such provoking and private questions about his personal life. Griffin realizes that they would not ask the same questions to a white man for the fear of being rude, but when talking to a black man, they see them as subhuman (Griffin 86). Many would believe it is not a racist act, as the white men are helping them and they are not harming them. However, by treating them so rudely and cruelly, while it may be unconsciously, they are affecting them psychologically, which is possible to do in many ways. As society has progressed towards non violence, racism has changed into a different form, with harsher psychological effects. A main cause of this psychological effect of racism is the stereotyping that society has accepted as normal (Anderson). Although it may be unintentional, it is easy to deny stereotyping exists, but difficult to prove that it does not exist. As Griffin recounts, white society had everything sewed up. If you didn t...say yes, you were in deep trouble. If you did, then you allowed [them] to go...on believing in the stereotype (Griffin 167). Some have big roles and some have little, but none of them reach up to the standards of the character Nick Carraway. Some situations are just much worse than others. These tragic memories stick with the person for their lifetime. Victor Joseph in the movie Smoke Signals is a great example of a man with a very dour childhood that includes many hardships. Victor Joseph s journey in Smoke Signals highlights the universal theme on fear of one s past. Firstly, the way Smoke Signals brings this theme alive throughout Victors Joseph s journey. In the beginning, the movie displays the chaos of the house fire that happened. This is the start of the disturbing memories victor has to deal with as a child. He also then has to deal with his dad slapping his mother who then storms out of their lives for no reason. Victor Joseph then grows up with these memories and questions and starts to fear knowing anything about it. He and his mother become dolorous about the whole situation and ignore it until they get to know that Arnold Joseph is dead. This moment brings back old memories of his father and how Smoke Signals creates the flashbacks of his old times with his father. • 11. Archetypal Hero Journey The monumental piece of non fiction work titled The Hero with a Thousand Faces, first published in 1949 by Joseph Campbell points out an apparent monomyth of the hero through superb use of example and literary analysis. In this book Campbell presents three main phases of the archetypal hero; The Departure, The Initiation, and The Return. Within these three main phases there exist numerous sub phases that describe nearly all aspects of the hero s journey and its impact upon the entire monomyth. I have chosen to analyze the amazing journeys of the heroes Herakles, and Odysseus. Herakles (whose name can be translated as Glory of Hera ) was a first generation descendent of the great god Zeus; a result of the offspring produced by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is interesting to note that Herakles receives little to no supernatural aide in this story, contrary to the monomyth perhaps identifying as one of the great gods of the time. The journey s road of trials is very evident in this myth as Herakles must perform ten (actually twelve due to stipulations by the king) labors in order to achieve forgiveness and ultimately become immortal. Most heroes also experience a metaphysical death in which they have to cross into the realm of the underworld and return with knowledge or an item. Herakles does this for his twelfth and final labor, by traveling to the underworld in order to capture the guardian of the underworld, Cerberus, and return him once the king saw that he had completed the task. The final act that Herakles does that fits into the monomyth archetype of the hero is his act of becoming immortal. Upon his death funeral pyre, when the flame is lit he is risen up to Olympus and is granted the gift of immortality. This is significant for several reasons; firstly it shows that Hera in fact did embrace him at the end of his journey by allowing him to have immortality. Also his immortality ... • 12. Greasy Lake By Tom Boyle The short story Greasy Lake by Tom Boyle is about a young man and his friends who thought they were some real bad characters. The main character and his two friends got into a series of events that started with almost killing a young man for no reason, to almost raping a young woman which made them reconsider how they wanted to live the rest of their adolescent life. During that night, the narrator underwent a series of events that caused the destruction of his mom s car and the shattering his self image. Throughout the short story Greasy Lake , you can find points that Boyle s use of the first person colors the story in some situations while causing bias views to show though in others. The narrator s use of the first person is use to create an idea of a bond between the friends, and he uses the term we throughout the story to point out that the group was together through it all. In the beginning of the story the narrator tells is that the gang of friends had went two nights without doing anything interesting. Then, the third night Whatever it was we were looking for, we weren t going to find it at greasy lake. Not that night. (295). This short quote shows me that the narrator was trying to tell us that everything that was about to happen from that point on was a group decision. Also, to further elaborate, I found the repetition of the word we to be a point of emphasis to try to negate some of the future consequences of his actions to his friends despite ... There is an emphasis on ridding oneself of worldly desires so that one can have self control over their own senses since Conquering yourself is true strength (Addiss, Page 33). The Tao suggests that creating order can be good, as long as one eventually allows the creation to undergo its own journey and not try to dictate it. Give birth and do not possess. Excel but do not rule (Addiss, Page 10). There are numerous references about what makes a good ruler in the Tao. I do nothing and people transform themselves. This quote shows that one can spend their whole life serving a master, but at the end of life, it is not enough to follow the rules set by those above one, but one must feel as if they attained and followed their own moral standards. The theme present in the Tao and the Bhagavadgita that entails forsaking worldly possessions and desires would create a more group oriented mentality and would allow all humans a basic standard of living. Being home was similar to being lost, it was a world I wasn t equipped for, and no longer wanted to be apart of. Things at home took such a turn that my mother sent my sister to live in Florida with her father, I knew then I no longer had a purpose to stay. Following this occasion, I started to ask around for places to live, I even went as far as looking for rooms to rent in the area. Generously one of my best friends, Jessica, offered to let me stay with her for the remainder of the school year. She and her parents took me in days later, accepting me with loving arms. Living with my friends family started to become more of a home to me than any home I d lived in prior. This transformation in my life was one of the first in which I allowed myself to be cared for by others. With this I want to explore the idea of trust within my life, and how it has affected me. Trust is something I was taught over time not to believe in, or more importantly I was shown not to believe in. Throughout many of my life experiences I ve learned that trust can only be plausible if my attitudes towards the idea would permit it. My sense of trust within people has been diminished, leaving me with the notion that trusting is a huge risk. The risk of being let down by someone who chose not to commit to an act, is a risk I am normally am not able to perform. After countless occasions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personally I think about the absolute evil of the Nazis and the horrible things that the Jews had to endure. I think about how gut wrenchingly terrible of a life style every one of those people had to live through and what it would be like to have been in their place. What I don t think about and had never even considered before reading the book Ordinary Men is what it was like to be a member of one of the police battalions that had to do all these gut wrenchingly terrible crimes toward innocent human beings. I saw them as trained cold blooded killers, robots under Hitler s command, and nothing else. While reading this book I began to realize that these people were living human beings too, that at first felt disgusted by what they were instructed to do too and that s what I think the author, Christopher Browning, was trying to do. He is saying that these men were just regular people that were trained to kill and that if we re not aware of this phenomena that it could happen again. The Order Police began after World War I. Germany was trying to create an army of police that had military training and possessed military equipment since under the Treaty of Versailles they were not allowed to have a large army. If there are scarce, it will disrupt blood circulation of the body gradually. This phenomenon usually arises during severe blood injury. Hence, in order to attract people to donate blood, some arguments are evolved whether payment or other reward should be done to increase the blood sources.(3) Therefore, the outcome of this argument is a new type of blood donation is produced which known as paid blood donation. I went to the creek to study the health of the creek itself (Phosphate levels, Nitrate levels, Dissolved Oxygen levels, pH levels, and Alkalinity levels). My hypothesis was: If I test the Conodoguinet Creek for signs of acid rain, eutrophication, or other types of pollution, then the tests will reveal that the creek is healthy and has very low levels of pollution. Eutrophication, is the excessive richness of nutrients in a lake or other bodies of water, frequently due to runoff from the land, which causes a dense growth of plant life and death of animal life due to lack of dissolved oxygen. Dissolved Oxygen (or DO), is the microscopic bubbles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After I saw this, I inferred that the creek was not heavily polluted at all. However, the Conodoguinet had a lively amount of plant life so, it was already not heavily polluted. After I actually got close to the creek I saw that there was a small amount of algae, this meant that the creek most likely has a small amount of pollution. If a creek has a small amount of pollution that is not bad however, if a creek has a lot of pollution, then there is a problem. Some different types of organisms in the creek are macroinvertebrates, crustaceans, and other organisms. A macroinvertebrate is the term used for an invertebrates that can be caught by a 500 micrometer net or sieve. A crustacean is an arthropod of the large, mainly aquatic group Crustacea, such as a crab, lobster, shrimp, or barnicle. These critters included 15 clam, 2 water pennies, 5 may fly, 5 gilled snails, 10 stone fly, and finally I also saw 3 crayfish. The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking The Past, Present and Future of Computer Hacking Abstract Society relies heavily on technology for many things, but our use of technology opens us up to become victims of cybercrimes, like computer hacking. Hackers can be divided into three main categories: novice, intermediate, and elite. Hacking has been in the information technology (IT) field for a while. The first hackers appeared in the nineteen sixties and hackers have continued to make progress since then. People hack for a variety of reasons including ego, fun, knowledge, and profit. The first major hacking program, SATAN, caused controversy in 1995, and numerous hacking programs exist today. The future of hacking looks bright because people will only continue to rely even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Originally the term hack was used to describe what club members did to electric tracks and switches to make them run quicker or better (Lilley 2002, 16). In 1978 Randy Suess and Ward Christiansen created the first online bulletin board system where hackers could exchange tips, information, and stolen passwords and credit card numbers. There are currently over 40,000 bulletins worldwide (Lilley 2002, 16). The United States Congress passed the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act in 1986. The Act recognized the unauthorized access of federal interest computer with the intention to commit fraudulent theft and the altering of information to inflict malicious damage as felony offences (Lilley 2002, 16). During the Gulf War two teenaged Dutch hackers copied information from the Defense Department systems. Although the US General Accounting Office said that the information was unclassified, it was still sensitive and the teenagers tried to sell the information to the Iraqis. One might ask what the reward is in hacking if any. Some hackers do what they do for knowledge and ego, while others do it for fun and profit. Learning to crack the codes of different and more complex websites provides hackers with more knowledge and tricks that can help them make names for themselves as elite hackers in the hacking community. Many hackers pick large groups or government entities for attacks aimed at making a big splash (Crume 2000, 29). The more high profile the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Descriptive Power Of Nature Deep in the mountains in the southwest corner of North Carolina is a river unlike any other. Halfway through my perilous rafting journey, there was a moment when time stood still. I witnessed a natural phenomenon which displayed the beauty of nature at its finest. During that moment, I realized the insignificance of humanity, and why we should respect the overwhelming power of nature. The Nantahala is a whitewater river nestled in a valley with steep mountains flanking it on all sides. The forest it was situated in is the only temperate rain forest east of the Mississippi River. The rafting Industry has adopted this river as its premier destination. I was a 14 year old Boy Scout on a three day camping trip in the Nantahala Gorge. The weather was cloudy with periodic rain showers throughout the day and night. The temperature was at the mid 80 s but never got above the 90 s. I was in a bright yellow raft shared amongst five of my companions and a rafting Guide who went by the name Bones. Bones was a Caucasian man with dreads in his hair, tattoos of paddles shaped as a pirates cross on both of his arms, and was massively strong. We floated down the river like leaves down a stream; constantly fighting to stay upright and not be cast overboard by the restless aggression of the rapids. We were part of the way through a two hour journey down the Nantahala river. It had rained continuously throughout the trip, which meant we were soaked to the bone and fighting hypothermia. ... It has a bizarre cast of characters, a nonlinear sequence of events and endless references to pop culture. The underlying theme of the movie, however, deals with religion and the transformation of two characters: Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Butch (Bruce Willis). In the beginning of the film, Vincent (John Travolta) has returned from a stay in Amsterdam, and the conversation between Jules and Vincent deals with what Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are called in Europe. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jules always quotes this just before he kills someone. The point is that the passage refers to a system of values and meaning by which one could lead one s life and make moral decisions. However, that system has no connection with Jules s life and as he realizes later, the passage is actually meaningless to him. In addition to the pop references in the film, its dialogue on language is concerned with naming things. What s a Big Mac called? What s a Quarter Pounder called? What s a Whopper called? When Ringo (Tim Roth) calls the waitress garçon, she tells him: garçon means boy . When Butch s girlfriend refers to his means of transportation as a motorcycle, he insists on correcting her: It s not a motorcycle, it s a chopper. When a Hispanic cab driver, however, asks Butch what his name means, he replies: This is America, honey; our names don t mean shit. The point is clear that in the absence of any lasting ambition or value and meaning, our language no longer points to anything beyond itself. To call something good or evil makes it so since there s no higher authority or criteria by which one might judge such things. Jules quotes the Bible before his executions, but he might as well be quoting the Fonz or Buddy Holly. By informing parents of the ways in which they may be able to assist (Fellowes, 2010), paired with flexible commitment offers, teachers are setting a comfortable and casual scene for parents to become involved in their child s learning. By providing some insight into the daily teaching methods, teachers are using newsletters to invite parents into the classroom. Equipping parents with the information they require to deepen their knowledge and assist in making them feel confident in their involvement. As we can imagine, this number is significantly larger than it would have been when the tradition of the pilgrimage was formed, and therefor the logistics of completing specific rituals becomes challenging. One example of this is seen in the desire to kiss the stone that was part of Abraham s Ka ba, something that Muhammad had done on his own hajj (Peer The Modern Mecca). Unfortunately, because of the immense number of pilgrims trying to kiss the stone, it is impossible for everyone to even come close to accomplishing this. Many Pilgrims raised smart phones above their heads to record the moment (Peer The Modern Mecca), as physical contact was nearly impossible, highlighting the ways in which hajj has been modernized yet remains so important. Limestone, composed primarily of CaCO3 and dolomite composed primarily of CaMg(CO3)2, are the two soluble rock types in the area that host the karst features. Water in contact with air picks up carbon dioxide some of which transforms to carbonic acid, and this acid then dissolves the carbonate minerals, carrying the ions out in solution (e.g. Trudgill 1985). Limestone and dolomite layers vary in impurities and grain size so that different layers are more or less prone to dissolution, with dolomite generally being less soluble than limestone.
