My Observations
Areas of Focus for Observation in the
School Setting
My Observations
Physical Setting
1. Classroom Arrangement
The classroom is well arranged, well
organized and there is enough space for
everybody. The chairs are properly
arranged where each learner is free to
move confidently.
2. Bulletin Board Display
The Bulletin Board is located at the right
wall of the classroom. It is visible enough
and it is updated- the contents are updated.
The design is of good color harmony.
3. School Playground
The playground is vast enough to
accommodate all the students if they want
to play. It is well trimmed and clean.
4. Learning Resource Center
The Library serves as the Learning
Resource Center. The books are arranged
according to Dewey Decimal System. The
tables and chairs are well arranged and
there is enough space to accommodate the
students who will visit.
Socio-Psychological Setting
1. Class Routines
The students are grouped into five where
each group is assigned to clean the
specific area around the classroom. The
class routines flow smoothly and
accordingly. The students are guided how
to act in the room by the posted paper
written with what to do.
2. Teacher Activities
The teacher always gives clear instructions
which result to smooth flow of the class
activities. She is capable of leading her
students.
3. Learners Activities
The students are active the whole session.
They participated willingly to every
activity their teacher engaged them to.
4. Co-curricular Activities
There are programs which they encourage
the students to join such as MTAP,
DSPCC, Science Quiz Bee and the like.
5. Extra-curricular Activities
There are activities which develop the
students’ physical skills such as
Intramurals, Triangular Meet, Provincial
Meet, etc.

My Reflections
Based on the teacher’s program, my observations and my interviews, I now see
teaching to be full time job because as a teacher, it is not enough just to teach. You have to
consider the welfare of your students, make your room conducive enough to learning, be a
second parent to them and provide every essential need of your students. Morning is for
teaching and night is for preparation for next day’s lesson, I believe.
The teacher’s workplace is good enough to teach meaningfully. Yes, the conditions
are healthy for the welfare of both the learners and teachers for they maintain the
cleanliness and good physical setting of the classroom. Both of them are safe and free from
possible disturbances.
Yes, I find the relationships of the teachers and the learners pleasant for the students
are free to ask questions every time they have doubts and the teachers in return answer the
questions clearly and comprehensively without offending the learners. There are no
tensions that occurred. They even laugh when there is a time that is funny. I believe the
teachers are able to maintain good atmosphere.
That the teacher must
provide an environment
conducive enough to
learning.
That quality learning
must be the first and
foremost focal goal of
the teacher.
That teaching is a
laborious professionyet
the noblest.

My Affirmed Concepts
My previous learning in the content courses that were affirmed by this learning
episode are the following:

My Future Application
1. Classroom arrangement – I can improve it through following the suggested
classroom setting where the chairs are well arranged, the table is in front, the front
door is for exit and the back door is for entrance in order to avoid disturbances, the
fans are in the four corners of the room, the shelves are accessible for everybody
and the Comfort Room is abundant with water.
2. Bulletin Board display – I can improve it through providing a large bulletin where
everybody can clearly see it. I will make use of technology in designing it, enough
to capture everybody’s attention. I will update it with all education-relevant trends
in order to inform my students with what are of updated education. Especially, I
will put it beside the front door in order for my students to see it directly.
3. School playground – Probably, I will plant trees with wide branches in order to
shade the playground to avoid direct hit from the sun and to encourage them to play
more. If possible, a court for every ball game be present so that the students can
play every vacant time.
4. Classroom routines – I will paste a copy of classroom routines in the Bulletin
Board so that they will be guided on what they must do. There will be a cycle of
room chores to have equal workload and to promote gender equality.
5. Teacher activities – I will actively engage my students to every learning activity I
will use. Each will be given the opportunity to be involved in the activity. As much
as possible, every teaching-learning process will be associated with the full
participation of the students.
6. Co-curricular activities – I will encourage them to actively join and give
additional points to whoever joins. I will give them fair opportunity to join so that
their hidden talents and intelligences will be maximized.
7. Extra-curricular activities – I will give credits to someone who will take part in
this kind of activity. I will excuse them from classes but I will conduct make-up
classes. I will give free chance to show what they got through sports, dances and
the like.
