The document summarizes Ian Bayson's observations of two resource teachers' lessons on English and Math. It notes that the teachers' objectives aligned with guiding principles like beginning with the end in mind and addressing multiple learning domains. While Ian's stated objectives differed slightly from the teachers', the lessons generally followed objectives to provide structure and guide learning. Through this experience, Ian reflected on the importance of clearly stating objectives at the start of a lesson to direct discussion and ensure relevant learning.

FS #2- Episode 2 : Objectives as My Guiding Star
OBSERVATION SHEET
Name of the Resource Teacher Observed: Mrs. Levi Pacalioga
School Address: Caridad, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur
Grade/Year level: Grade 8
Subject Area: English II

Observance of the Guiding Principle
1. Begin with the end in mind. The Resource Teacher began her lesson
through following the inductive method.
She had clear and effective objectives.
2. Share lesson objective with
students.
The Resource Teacher let the students
discovered first the objectives before
stating the objectives herself.
3. Lesson objectives must be in 2 or 3
domains- cognitive, skill and
affective or cognitive and affective
or skill and affective.
The lesson objectives are of three domains.
She let the students read the rules in S-V
Agreement.
4. Work on significant and relevant
lesson objectives.
The Resource Teacher provided lesson
objectives which are relevant and
significant to the lesson.
5. Lesson objectives must lead to the
development of critical and creative
thinking.
Lesson objectives focus on the learners’
higher-order thinking skills.
2. Observed Lesson Objectives
a. enumerate rules in Subject-Verb Agreement;
b. select appropriate form of subject to agree with the verb, and in reverse, and;
c. construct sentences with correct form of subject and verb.
3. Resource Teacher’s Lesson Objectives
a. identify rules on Subject-Verb Agreement;
b. construct sentences applying the S-V-A, and;
c. demonstrate the importance of sharing and giving.
The lesson objectives of the Resource Teacher are much alike to mine but the way
it’s constructed is different. I did not notice that she meant to integrate the importance of
sharing and giving. But generally, it’s somehow 80 % similar.

Observance of the Guiding Principle
1. Begin with the end in mind. The Resource Teacher stated the lesson
objectives prior to the discussion.
2. Share lesson objective with
students.
The Resource Teacher stated the objectives
logically yet in a vivid manner.
3. Lesson objectives must be in 2 or 3
domains- cognitive, skill and
affective or cognitive and affective
or skill and affective.
The lesson objectives of the Resource
Teacher are in two domains which are
cognitive and psychomotor domains.
4. Work on significant and relevant
lesson objectives.
Objectives are very relevant and play a
significant role in the lesson discussion.
5. Lesson objectives must lead to the
development of critical and creative
thinking.
Lesson objectives enhanced and guided the
learners to develop well the critical skills as
well as the creative skills of the learners.
2. Observed Lesson Objectives
a. identify the x-intercept and y-intercept;
b. plot and connect linear equations in two variables in a Cartesian plane, and;
c. solve linear equations.
3. Resource Teacher’s Lesson Objectives
a. define the equations in two variables;
b. plot the coordinates in a given equation, and;
c. demonstrate accuracy in graphing linear equations in two variables.
The lesson objectives I have formulated are far different from the objectives by
the Resource Teacher, maybe because I’m not a math major student. But there is slight
similarity.

My Analysis
The objectives are slightly different. Therefore, objectives aren’t really clear or
probably, it’s just me who doesn’t really have the capacity to spot objectives. Lesson
objectives are always followed. It is very important to follow lesson objectives so that we
would not waste time in doing things which are irrelevant to the topic. Lessons objectives
are considered as guiding star since objectives guide the teacher to have a definite goal at
the end of the lesson.
I find the lesson objectives slightly hard to spot since the Resource Teacher had
not clearly stated before the whole discussion.
The lesson objectives are in all domains since the Resource Teachers have
included the affective domain. After the discussion, various activities followed.

My Reflections
I gained lessons from my observation on lesson objectives. One of it is that,
objectives should be stated clearly prior to the discussion. Another is that lesson
objectives should embrace all the three domains possibly. Lesson objectives are truly the
guiding star in the development of a lesson since objectives enable the flow of the lesson
be good enough to achieve a particular aim of a teacher. It also makes the class
discussion to lessen the unnecessary things to be wasted. In addition to, it guide the
teacher to come up or achieve things which are really essential in learners’ lives. It is
impossible to sometimes forget lesson objectives for without it, teachers would have
difficulty in achieving what are needed to be learned by the learners. Consequently,
without it, lessons would go with indefinite purposes. Generally, lesson objectives play a
vital role in lesson planning as well as in actual discussion. Teachers would achieve goals
easily.
