Basic
Education
Curriculum
(BEC)
Provides quality
education, equips life
skills, and nurtures
students into a lifelong
learning useful for day-
to-day life. Develops
students’ basic
competencies for
preparation to face
complex concepts in
higher education.
Subjects are
congested resulting to
poor learning. Less
time in teaching
every subject making
the students less
understand and
absorb what is
intended to be
learned.
I believe it seeks to
fully hone the
students, only the
authorities did not
realize what will be
the consequences in
overloading subjects
to be taught. In fact, I
myself am a product
of BEC and I can
assess myself that I
am not fully
nurtured, developed,
and honed.
K-12 Basic
Education
Program
It produces
empowered individual,
geared towards
excellence, the
foundations for
learning throughout life,
the competence to
engage in work and be
productive,
the ability to coexist in
fruitful harmony with
local and global
communities, the
capability to engage in
autonomous critical
thinking, and the capacity
to transform others and
one’s self.
It is abruptly
implemented which
results to inadequate
preparation taking
into account all the
needed adjustments.
It drains the parents’
pockets and adds
burden in the part of
the students.
I think this
curriculum is well-
studied and therefore
is the best curriculum
among curricula
innovations for it
seeks to holistically
nurture students
ready to face real-life
situations. I believe it
is the most effective
curriculum to use for
it specifies now the
learning
competencies
according to learner’s
own pace.

My Enriching Activities
My Conclusions
Do we really
need to
innovate K-12
Program?
YES
We really need to
innovate K-12 Program
in order to produce fully-
baked, globally
competent, and skilled
graduates who are
proficient enough with
the professional
competencies. Also, to at
par with the educational
systems outside the
country that ensure good
and effective education.
Therefore, K-12 brings development to our educational
system yet adds burden on the affected individuals. Yes, it ensures
better teaching-learning process in the long run but empties
parents’ pockets, drains teachers’ teaching strategies, and increases
cognitive load of learning the higher-order competencies intended
for students in the first years of implementation. Though abruptly
implemented, for sure, we are going to learn how this K-12 works
and step-by-step, it carries no more negative effect. Thus, let us be
patient enough in dealing K-12 for in the long run, our educational
system will be the best out of it.
NO
We do not need to
innovate K-12 Program
for there will be various
adjustments that need to
be considered and
definitely, a big amount
of time for preparation is
needed in order to
provide quality learning
in the first two years of
implementing.
