This document summarizes Ian Bayson's observations from his field study visit to JH Cerilles State College on September 8, 2014. It discusses two Philippine curricula: the Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) and the K-12 Basic Education Program. The BEC aims to provide quality education and life skills but subjects are congested, limiting learning. The K-12 program seeks to produce empowered, globally competent graduates through specifying competencies by pace but was abruptly implemented, burdening parents and students. While both curricula have benefits and drawbacks, K-12 is assessed to be the most effective in holistically nurturing students for real-life if given time to adjust to its implementation.
