Freud Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Freud Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that demands
a comprehensive understanding of Sigmund Freud's complex theories and contributions to
psychology. Freud's ideas, ranging from the interpretation of dreams to the structure of the
human psyche, require in-depth research and a nuanced analysis.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the intricate web of Freudian concepts and theories,
including the id, ego, and superego, as well as the Oedipus complex and the stages of
psychosexual development. Clearly conveying these ideas while maintaining coherence and
clarity in the essay can be a daunting task.
Moreover, Freud's work has sparked numerous debates and criticisms, adding another layer of
complexity to the essay. Addressing opposing viewpoints and synthesizing them with your
analysis requires careful consideration and critical thinking.
Furthermore, Freud's language and terminology can be intricate, necessitating a thorough
understanding to accurately interpret and convey his ideas. Striking a balance between academic
rigor and accessibility for readers unfamiliar with Freudian concepts poses an additional
challenge.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "Freud Essays" demands not only a mastery of Freud's
theories but also the ability to articulate complex ideas in a coherent and engaging manner. It
involves delving into the depths of psychoanalytic thought, navigating debates, and presenting a
nuanced perspective. However, for those seeking assistance or alternative options, a variety of

source of entertainment for many all over the world in the past and present
generations and even future generations to come. Many genres of music have been
established over the years such as pop, rock, hip hop, soul, and jazz among others.
Music carries a very powerful message towards the listeners. Some songs are
emotionally oriented and others target a specific people. Music is always created for
specific target persons in relation to their past or current situations.

King Hammurabi s Code Of Babylon
The year is 1901 the United States stock market just crashed for the very first time,
typhoid fever has broken out in Seattle, and several other, minor catastrophes are
occurring in various parts of the world; but for the most part, people are living out
their daily lives as they normally would. However, one fateful day in Iran, a group
of French archaeologists make a groundbreaking discovery while excavating. What
they come across is none other than the pillar of Hammurabi s Code of Laws, a
magnificent basalt structure depicting the first written code of laws for any
civilization, created by King Hammurabi himself for what was known as the Old
Babylonperiod (ushistory.org 2016). Although there is definitely no question that
Babylon thrived under the rule of Hammurabi, and that he did a remarkable job at
keeping order and justice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The laws were carefully inscribed into a very large, basalt pillar reaching over
seven feet tall when standing. At the top of the stone block, there lies a statue
depicting King Hammurabi receiving a gift from a sun god (Kerrigan, M. 2011),
followed by the code itself beginning with the phrase, Anu and Bel called by name
me, Hammurabi, the exalted prince... and continuing on to describe how
Hammurabi was chosen to rule over his people by the gods themselves
(ushistory.org 2016). A large majority of the laws covered the concepts of property
ownerships, but they also take up other important aspects including false
accusations, liability in accidents, injury, marriages, and just general treatment of
people in the society. A new issue was also brought up in the laws which gave a
women the ability to divorce her husband if she would so choose to, which was
never allowed in any prior civilization or city (Fairservis, Jr., W. A.
Increase College Dropouts
Increase in college drop out: Rough draft Why is the college dropout rate steadily
increasing? These numbers include the freshmen, sophomores, and the juniors who
seem to be the most affected. The majority of students are dropping out because of
the higher cost of tuitions. Most college dropouts could not afford the cost of
textbooks and other fees in order to continue their education. Also the lack of study
skills needed to help them succeed and not enough resources available to students. A
lack of balance of a social life and academics is somewhat difficult for most college
student, allowing friends and pleasure to out weight their academic schedule.

Schools should put in place more networks of peer groups or peer teams and make
it mandatory to all students to get involved. This can make it very easy for them to
cope with college hard demand schedule and homework. In some ways, discussion
groups and interactions of learning teams will help the student to take interest in
academic progress. Also, competitions among the peer groups will give a student
chance to fit into academic demand. This can make the academic stress become fun.
It is interesting to know that success in beating other groups will make up for lack
of concentrations and encouragement. Of course, no student can succeed without
academic participation and commitment. In a book by Tim R. Westerberg, he stated
6 strategies for moving schools from good to great 1. Developing clear instructional
Goals. 2. Developing a Common vision of effective instructions. 3. Using frequent
Formative Assessment. 4. Tracking of student Progress. 5. Providing Timely
Intervention for Struggling Student. 6 Celebrating Student Success (Westerberg 4).
This is where peer groups and professors will have to play a major role that will help
bring the student`s mind alive and love for academic
Beijing Olympic Economy Essay example
On July 13, 2001, Beijing delegation of application for organizing the Olympic
Game made its last statement in Moscow. Deng Yaping, the image messenger for
applying for the Olympic Games and famous Ping pang player, stated in her report,
in the torch relay in Sydney, a little boy came up to me, when he touched the torch,
his eyes immediately became bright. I can feel that at that time his whole life has
changed...
Someone sums up Deng Yaping s statement as: The Olympic Gamescan change the
whole life of a person.
Someone further inferred: The Olympic Games can not only change the whole life of

The operation of the Olympic Games has its commercial operation rules, it uses the
method of giving after fetching, mutual reciprocity and mutual benefit; it gives some
economic benefits to the host city, at the same time it has strict control on the market
development of the host city. Therefore, to develop the Olympic economy, we should
not only follow the operation rules of the IOC (International Olympic Committee),
but also fully utilize the added value of the rules to develop our own economy.
Demanding
The Olympic economy has the demanding characteristic; its economic phenomenon
with clear sector, clear level and clear market is determined by the demand. For
instance, the clear sector mainly includes the infrastructure construction, environment
improvement, tourism service, electronic information industry, etc. The cleat lever
mainly includes those of IOC rules, OCOG administration, the city and the market.
The clear market is mainly includes the preparatory market (the space of the service

Teacher Merit Pay Case Study
A. Current Issues: Teacher Merit Pay: States were asked by the U.S. Department
of Education in their 2010 application for Race to the Top monies to include
proposals for implementing teacher merit pay based on classroom performance
(Woessmann, 2011). Merit pay or performance based pay is a bonus for teachers
whose students show above average growth over a set period of time measured by
many different standards that are picked by local and/or state districts. The hope is
that teacher merit pay would have an immediate impact on student achievement.
Teacher merit pay stirs an emotional response from teachers, politicians, and parents.
President Barack Obama has called for a national effort to improve student
achievement in the classroom and often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cons: Opponents to merit pay believe it would result in a counter productive
narrowing of teacher s goals and competition between educators who otherwise would
promote meaningful collaboration (Ritter, 2010). In most instances, teachers can earn
a pay raise in only two ways: experience and additional education credentials such as
advanced degrees (Cowley, 2011). Cultural expectations for student performance are
high in Asia which may mislead claims that performance pay increases student
achievement (Woessman, 2011). A merit pay system may discourage top scholars
from majoring in education. The evaluation instruments used to measure teachers
performance are typically flawed and do not have strong research to back them. If
we want teachers to support merit pay, we should be considering plans that offer
substantial awards in the 10% to 20% of base salary; however, this is often not the
case. Evaluations of teachers for merit pay are often subjective leading to widely
inaccurate measurements. The first reaction of most teachers is skeptical and
provokes anger (Ritter, 2010). Denver s Professional Compensation for Teachers plan,
the leading national example of performance pay, awards more money for earning
another degree than for demonstrated performance in the classroom (Buck,

How Do Dante And Virgil Enter The Fourth Circle
In Inferno Canto VII, Dante and Virgil enter the fourth circle and are greeted by
Plutus who guards the entrance to this circle. Plutus is denying them passage but
Virgil shuts the creature down with some words. Dante yells when he notices a trench
begin to form causing a ring in that circle. Inside that ring there are two groups of
people. They are pushing heaving weights along, indignantly and in agony. The two
groups crash into each other halfway through the circle then turn around and walk the
opposite direction. These souls are condemned to an eternal jousting match.
Virgil explains to Dante that these souls are the Avarices and the Prodigals that
during their time on Earth hoarded and recklessly wasted their money. Dante s
curiosity begins to ask if he knows any of the souls in the fourth circle. Virgil explains
to him that the Avaricious are the corrupt clergymen, popes, and cardinals. Because of
the torture they have received, their faces and identities have become unrecognizable.
Virgil points out to Dante that the Avaricious and Prodigals share one common factor;
they were both reckless with the goods of Fortune. They continue their walk to the
Styx.
In Purgatorio Cantos XIX XXII, Dante and Virgil are making their way through
the terraces of the purgatory. It starts off with Dante having a dream about a
woman. Dante describes her as having crossed eyes, crooked feet, crippled hands,
pale, and she stutters when she speaks. Realizing that he can control his own
dream, Dante decides to make her into his fantasy lady. He loosens her tongue,
fixes her limbs so she can stand straight and adds color to her complexion. It runs
out he has created a Siren. She begins to sing about the things she has done in her
lifetime including seducing men to their death like she did with Ulysses. Before
she can finish her dreadful song, another woman appears. She is alert and saintly.
Her appearance causes the Siren to stop her song mid track. This new woman asks
Virgil the identity of the Siren so Virgil shows up in the dream and rips off the Siren
s clothes. It turns out that her beauty was just on her face because the Siren emits a
rotten smell from her stomach causing Dante to regret his attraction for this

Executive Summary
Boeing is a world leader in the aerospace industry. At one point they were the highest
seller s commercial aviation with no competition in sight. That all changed, and soon
Boeing had to change.
Background
Boeing was founded in 1916 by William Boeing. The company started by making
small seaplanes with low top speeds. The first customer of Boeing was the New
Zealand government. They used the planes for the countries mail, and to train pilots.
The real pay off was when the United States entered World War I and ordered a large
amount of seaplanes. Between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is also a high level of barriers to entry. Before entering to the airline industry, a
company will face high capital and operating cost. New entrants would need to invest
tremendously as a substantial amount of money is needed to start up in the aerospace
industry. Majority of the cost are operating cost like air service, fuel, labor, IT
services and equipment, engines, spare parts, insurance, airport handling services,
catering and training. Another problem to start up a new aerospace company is
trying to market the new company and to create clientele with airline companies. If a
company does enter to the airline industry, it is a long term project. Not all airlines
are making profit and that is why many airline companies fail.
2. Power of Suppliers The probability of power of suppliers would be low medium
risk. The bargaining powers of suppliers are low due to the limited numbers in the
industry. This gives Boeing a high degree of control over the suppliers. Since
Boeing started as an engineering company, they provide suppliers with unique
features to decorate the crafts and supply parts. But if Boeing needed certain parts
from their suppliers, their bargaining power can decrease. Boeing can also lose
more bargaining power if government created new laws on making planes more eco
friendly. This would cause Boeing to purchase new parts just to follow the new rules
and regulation.

Nicaragua And Its Monetary Policy Analysis Essay
Nicaragua and its Monetary Policy analysis:
Monetary policy is the macroeconomic policy laid down by the central bank. It
involves management of money supply and interest rate and is the demand side
economic policy used by the government of a country to achieve macroeconomic
objectives like inflation, consumption, growth and liquidity.
The Monetary Policy of a country further contains 3 sub policies:
The Money Supply Policy: This policy determines the source of credit. In most cases,
a central bank of a country acts the source.
The Interest Rate Policy: This policy determines the cost of credit.
The Credit Control Policy: This policy determines the quantum of credit.
Monetary Policy works on the fundaments of a money market and LM curve is the
locus of equilibrium between the interest rate and income in the money market. LM
curve determines the supply side of money and is positively sloped w.r.t to interest
rate and income.
Like many Latin American countries, Nicaragua is a socialist country and hence,
functions with a deficit budget. Deficit, if remained uncontrolled, has the potential to
induce inflation in an economy. As in August, 2015, the inflation rate recorded in its
economy was 2.70%. However, with its average inflation rate being 9.35% in the
period of 1993 2015, it had achieved a highest rate of inflation in September 1993 at
23.99%. (Banco Central de Nicaragua estimated)
The central bank of Nicaragua focuses on an objective of sustaining economic
What Is Reading Strengths And Weaknesses
1. What do you see to be your writing and reading strengths and weaknesses? If your
first language was not English, what was it? What has prepared you for this level
of English? My writing and reading strength is my ability to get a lot of ideas. By
having a lot of ideas, I could easily understand the reading s topic and I have a lot to
write on. On the other hand, my weakness is to organize my ideas to become a
good writing. My first language also affects my weakness in writing and reading.
My first language is Indonesian, the Indonesian s vocabularies and grammar are
different with English literature, so I still am struggling to translate not only
words by words but also the whole sentence structure. What I have prepared for this
level of English is I learned a lot from the previous class and my experience in
writing my personal statements for some universities. I have the ambition to write in

could think more critical about some problems. Besides my strength, my weakness
is my limited vocabularies. Because of that, I need more time to understand the

the important parts of the semester. Debating need acknowledges and opinions. That

Bullying In American Schools
Bullying is a growing problem in American schools; an increase in bullying over a
period of time can lead to suicide or negative impacts on health. Although some
believe that students should not be formally charged for bullying, they should be
because that is a cruel act and could lead to negative things. Opponents suggest that
students should not be formally charged with bullying. They argue that students do
not have the capacity to understand the consequences of their actions. For example, if
a student bullies another student, they have no way of knowing that their actions
could lead to that student harming themselves. Opponents of bullying believes that
students should be formally charged for bullying in schools. Being a bully s victim...

They argue there should be a collaboration and involvement of authority figures to
solve the issue (Yousefi). They also believe that if a bully is charged it would
cause an increase in negative behavior towards the victim, because others may think
the accusations or arrest were unjustified. Its impact can be devastating to the
accused and unhelpful to the victim (Yousefi). People would begin calling the
victim words like snitch and scarycat , or even the victim being attacked by the
bullies friends. Although majority of the time, victims do not want to share their
problems with authority figures. They become socially inactive, which makes them
not want to share their issues. Bullying is very cruel and can be devastating. It s
hard for others to understand the pain they go through, which causes others to be
against the bully being charged. Now, In the last decade or so when internet began
spreading like wildfire, we realized things like this should be controlled and tamed.

Now she is allowed to marry.
Marriage is looked at as a life long venture. If a man wants to marry a certain
woman he has to ask both his and her parents for their permission. If both parents
agree then a priest is told. On the morning of the ceremony the priest prays asking
for a sign as to whether a couple should marry or not. To get the sign that he is
looking for he holds two roots in his hand. If the roots moved together in his hand
then it was O.K for a couple to marry. But if the roots did not move or moved
together and one died then the marriage would be forbidden. When the roots came
together with no problem, the ceremony went on. The priest prayed over the
couple and warned them about being unfaithful because if they did then they
would go to a bad place when they died.1 Divorce did happen but was a rare
occurrence. All that had to be done was the dividing of blankets. Priests were
allowed to marry but the woman had to be of utmost character. She must be a
virgin. She could not be a widow or divorced. Also this marriage has to be approved
by seven counselors. Once a couple is married then they can focus on having children.
When a woman learns that she is pregnant she tells her husband whom then goes
and builds her a place for her last three months of pregnancy. Men were not allowed
to be present at the birth of a child unless he was a priest who was invited to pray
over the mother while she was in
Explain The Modern Quantity Theory And Liquidity Theory
Discuss the modern quantity theory and the liquidity preference theory.
The Quantity Theory of Money is an economic theory that states that the level of
money supply in an economy is directly proportional to the general price level.
In conformity with Wright, R. E., Quadrini, V. (2009), he states that the modern
quantity theory is superior to Keynes s liquidity preference theory because it is more
complicated, specifying three types of assets (bonds, equities, goods) instead of just
one (bonds). It also does not assume that the return on money is zero, or even a
constant. In Friedman s theory, velocity is no longer a constant; rather, it is highly
predictable and, as in reality and Keynes s formulation, pro cyclical, rising during
expansions and falling during recessions Friedman, M. (Ed.). (1956). Friedman s
reformulation of the quantity theory delayed well only until the 1970s, ... Show more

In addition to that, not like the liquidity preference theory, Friedman s modern
quantity theory foretell based on observation that interest rate changes should have
little effect on money demand. The cause for this is that Friedman believed that the
return on bonds, stocks, goods, and money would be positively mutual relations,
providing direction to little change in rb rm, rs rm, or ПЂe rm , the fact that both
sides would increase or decrease about the same amount. That insight basically lower

Conflict Management Styles
How many people have conflicts with there parents? This is not a uncommon thing
for young adults to show conflict with their parents. Conflicts are something that
occur very often and it seems as though young adults have lots of conflicts with their
parents. Some young adults feel as though, if they are eighteen, nineteen, or twenty
that they are able to make their own decisions. Whether it be staying out past curfew,

The Collaborating tactic may be used when your whole objective on the conflict is
to learn. Also it is a good idea to use the Collaborating tactic when you want to work
through feeling that have interfered with the relationship with the other person in the
conflict. Competing tactic is excellent when you want to cut the through all of the
non sense and get to a resolution of the conflict quickly. When quick decisive
resolutions are very important, or when people attempt to disagree with you and your
right without a doubt. The last tactic that Rahim and Magner talk about is the
Compromising tactic. This is good for when, goals are important to you but they are
not worth all the trouble they may cause. To achieve rather quick and easy resolutions
to rather complex disagreements
So, next time there is a conflict with your parents, try to use the accommodating,
collaborating, competing, compromising or even avoiding tactic to resolve the
problem so both parties feel satisfied.

Comparison of Health Systems: The United States and France
Introduction
In this paper, the health care systems of the United States and France will be
compared. The topics that will be discussed are health statistics and costs, health care
and financing, health care administration, and human resources. Data will be
provided to each pertaining country, and both countries will be compared. The reason
France was chosen to be compared to the United States is that the World Health
Organization (WHO) ranked France number one for health care and to see how the
United States matches up to the number one country.
Health Statistics and Costs This section below provides information and compares
the health care statistics and costs of the United States and France. Health care costs
are comprised of life expectancy, mortality rate, health risk factors, GDP spent on
health care and total health spending per capita. The United States. The life

Descriptive Writing About A Rose Garden
As the sun slowly peaked out of the horizon in Riverside, California, the scorching

Serial Murder And Mass Murder
Before we can take on the definitions of serial murder and mass murder, we must first
understand what exactly constitutes murder. According to the United States Code
section 1111, murder is defined as the unlawful killing of a human being with malice
aforethought (4). With that said, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the
term serial murderimplies that there are at least three different murder events at three
different locations, with a cooling off period between each event (Ramsland, 2009).
Individuals who perpetrate the crimeof serial murder are referred to as serial killers.
The term serial killerwas coined in the mid 1970s by Robert Ressler, the former
director of the FBI s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. He chose the name
serial killer because authorities in England called these types of murders crimes in
a series (Freeman, 2007). John Wayne Gacy, known as the Killer Clown, who
tortured, raped and murdered 33 men between 1972 and 1978 is an example of a
serial killer. On the other hand, mass murder is defined as four or more murders
occurring during a particular event with no cooling off period between the murders.
A mass murder typically occurs in a single location in which a number of victims
are killed by an individual (2). An example of a mass murder would be the 1995
Oklahoma City bombing perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh, in which 168 people were
killed. While serial murder has a definition that contains certain
My Family Sociology Analysis
My paper talks about the five general sociology concepts that I learned to using my
family. I picked my family because I think they were the most relatable and easy
group that would be more beneficial and knowledgeable to discuss regarding the
concepts. My family consist of a father, mother, two boys, and a girl, not including
me. My parents speak three languages and my siblings only speak one due to the
language influence while they were in school. Culture is very important to my family
not only the language, and attire but the values of what the culture teaches. Such as,
the man being the head of the household and everything must run through him. The
woman is taught to cook, clean and take care of the things inside the household. The

You are not necessarily conforming into something negative nor positive.
Assimilation means as minorities you adopt patterns of a dominant culture
(Maconois, 2015, pp 351). Assimilation isn t necessary a bad thing depending on
what perspective you look at. In my family as my parents moved from Tanzania to
the states they had to adapt to different things such as the driving, where in Africa
we drive in the left side. The dress had to change for not only church but daily dress
had to be modified. For church, usually the ladies would wear traditional attire
which was a skirt or dress with a head wrap/hat and the men would wear the same
thing. As seasons passed on while they were in the states they learned that it could
get colder than when it rains, like snow and how you can no longer wear skirts or
dress. Summary I think that this made me realize how things play an important
role in our everyday life. After completing the social group analysis project, I was
more aware of the importance of social groups and their role in society. My social
group helped influence who I am today by navigating different challenged each day

Key Issues In Counseling Paper
When clients enter into counseling they typically bring with them a variety of issues
concerning them. The counselor, with the help of the client must determine which of
these issues require to be focused on first. As reported by Long and Young (2007) a
couple may complain about arguing all the time, although through interviewing the
clients a trained counselor listens for key issues such as financial struggles or trust
issues could actually be the main concern. Another way counselors can obtain
information about the client of clients is by conducting tests, like the Minnesota
Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and observations by the counselor using
a Funnel of Assessment method (Long Young, 2007). As professional counselors we
The Importance Of Physical Activity In Education
Ask any teacher what the most valuable part to their day is and they will say time.
There is truly never enough time in the day to complete all the necessary tasks
brought forward by the educational system. Teachers are urged to maximize their
teaching time as much as possible with little to none physical activity breaks. Even
though there are many unanswered questions about physical activity, the one that
continues to present itself is, what is considered the optimal amount of time for
physical activity during the school day? In the current study where Howie, Schatz,
and Pate investigate physical activity and academic achievement, findings have
suggested that when physical activity breaks are incorporated into the school day,
there is an improvement in cognitive ability, however they did not state the amount of
time spent on physical activity (Howie, Schatz, Pate,2015). Although these findings
are quite convincing, educators are still expected involve more curriculum that
focuses on standardized testing and decrease physical activity breaks throughout the
school day. Next topic to be discussed, is research regarding physical activity and
those with developmental disabilities. While this research is rare, finding by recent
researchers reveal that children with disabilities engaged in more physical activity,
than their regular education peers. As stated in the study, the current recommendation
for school aged children is for them to accumulate at least 60 minutes

Import stripping area is the Area inside the terminal that the customs inspection
activities take place and then the importer has option to strip the container inside this
area or take it outside the port to his premises. This Area and the activities happening
inside it has become the source of empty containers for export because this empty
containers go to Shipping Line Container Yard where the line receive container to
decide what to do with it.
Low and poor performance in the Import stripping area will negatively affect the rest
of the activities. In this document we will present only the export Activates which is
primary activities of the value chain and is directly affect the customer experience.
The pain points are mainly resulted from lack of containers handling equipment
and the behaviour of labour in the terminal. For example, if 100 Containers
stripped per day (in our system Log File) 50 containers inside Import stripping area
and 50 containers outside the port 10 Containers only will be shifted from the
Import stripping area to Shipping Line Container Yard to use for export at that day
and all 50 from outside will reach Shipping Line Container Yard. While exporters
need 70 containers per day for their cargo.
The current situation is we provide 10 containers from Import stripping area plus 50
containers returned from outside the terminal. this resulted in losing 10 containers
from export volume or delay them to the next day.
Music Is A Important Part Of Our Life
Without music, life would be a mistake. Music is a very important part of our live,
and those who make music are very special in this world. Music not being involved
in my life would result in harmonies and melodies leaving me totally empty. When I
was younger , I didn t have the great love for music as I do now entering the second
year of college. I mainly listened to whatever was playing either in the background
or what my mom was listening to. I can personally say that I didn t have much of a
care for musical compositions. At the time I didn t have a preference of the particular
genre of musicmuch, but now as I am older, I enjoy it as it allows me to reminisce
on memories from specific times in my childhood. Once after I had hit my teenage
years music began to become my life and gradually started to inhibit on my soul.
Music has the ability to convey all sorts of emotions in my personal opinion. Whether
the emotionis happiness or sadness and despair through foot tapping rhythms,
harmonies and the lyrics music shows it. The musical images that music and song
are able to portray and create are amazing. Music has created the ability to turn or
transport me back in time just like a time machine. Allowing me to revisit lost and
forgotten moments in life. Songs can paint a picture, for example in classical and
country music where a story is being told compared to pop songs. The music in
classical music tells a story without lyrics which is a strong and powerful thing. I
Comprehending The Career Steps Of Cosmetology
Comprehending the Career Steps to Cosmetology There s one blessing only, the
source and cornerstone of beatitude confidence in self. (Seneca O). Seneca is one
optimistic person who always dreamed to be proud of herself. Not only with her
inner beauty but with her outer beauty too. Building confidence upon herself rose
her self esteem. Leaving all the negativity out and bringing the positivity in, made
her days much more healthy and bright. She always asked herself, What s better
than being happy with yourself? These thoughts encouraged her to consider
cosmetology as a career. Cosmetology is a career where she can make people
happy and feel confident with themselves by helping their personal style and
hygiene. Therefore she considered education, job growth, job description, and
salary. Cosmetology s required education is short and interesting, although there
are differences between schools. In order to enroll into a cosmetology school or
program you must have your high school diploma or GED. The school future
cosmetologists chooses to assist can definitely determine how difficult it may be.
For example, if you attend a community college you will learn the basics at a low
cost. While if you attend a private cosmetology school you will learn much more
than the basic. A private cosmetology school will of course be much more expensive
than your option of the community college. Cosmetology is a short and quick
program. It can be done within nine to eleven months
Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The...
In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special
admissions programs; but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and
with narrowly tailored provisions. Two separate questions stem from this: What does
narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th Amendment? And how can other
universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally permissible?
Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the
admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear
discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered
by the Equal Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict

This is because schools have a rational reason for excluding certain individuals. It
cannot accept every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through
applicants. For example, test scores, GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can
be used when considering an applicants file. In short, this in no way perverts or
violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable interest in denying
certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies. Discussion of
Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special
admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most
exacting judicial scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For
this, the rational basis test is faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race
cases. The Court visited this topic in two separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and
Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions requirements for Michigan Law
School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements. Once again,
emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in
admissions. The court also established the need for narrowly tailored provisions when
implementing such programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that
cultivating a diverse student body was a compelling state interest. And according to
Chief Justice Rehnquist, student body diversity is a compelling state
Mesopotamia Disadvantages
The first river valley civilization is Mesopotamia. Southwest Asia is predominantly
desert, but there is an exception. The Fertile Crescent is the name given to land in
this area. The Fertile Crescent is known for having great soil for farming. It is the
area near the Mediterranean Sea. This area was soon called Mesopotamia, which
means land between the rivers. The Tigrisand Euphrates River both run through
Mesopotamia. There were advantages and disadvantages that came with these two
rivers. The land around the rivers is wonderful for farming. The soil is very fertile,
hence the name The Fertile Crescent. Although the rivers are good for the farmers,
they flooded every year. This caused problems for the people of Mesopotamia.
Some other disadvantages for the Sumerians included the fact that they did not have
many natural barriers. This made it easier for other countries to invade. Also, there
was not an ideal number of natural resources. This was a struggle for the people of
Mesopotamia. It made developing cities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Egypt was divided into villages that lived under their own rules. Eventually all of

Plains Indians And Their Equine Companions
Plains Indians and Their Equine Companions Most history classes teach children
about how the Spanish brought horses to America and introduced them to Native
Americans. That s usually the end of the story. What s not talked about is the
Native peoples reactions to these beasts of nature. How did they feel about horses?
What did they think of them? How did Native people become some of the best
riders? How did they tame wild horses? How were horses incorporated into their

The differences between these two classifications of tribes is that the nomadic
groups followed the buffalo as they migrated. With the semi sedentary groups, they
too hunted for buffalo, but they also engaged in building villages and participating
more in agriculture (New World Encyclopedia). Life was livable in the plains, but it
wasn t always the easiest. It wasn t until the arrival of the horse that life and culture
among the Plains Indians truly flourished. The story of how horses came to present

brought them, and that was usually the end of it. How did Native people react
when they first saw horses? How would we react today if a brand new animal was
introduced into America, and we knew nothing about it? Some people may fear the
animal or even try to destroy it out of fear. Just as we would be afraid today, the
same feelings of terror swept through the Native people of the Great Plains. In the

FSD As Reflected In The Film Orgasm, Inc.
In recent years a mysterious disease called Female Sexual Dysfunction (FSD) has
captivated the marketplace and the general public. FSD has managed to cause mass
hysteria across the nation as women fear that they are abnormal or even diseased
because of the broad definition of sexuality being perpetuated by mass media. The
documentary OrgasmInc. explores the social construction of FSD, the role of drug
companies in defining FSD, and the resulting exploitation of women and the drug
market by the pharmaceutical companies.
Liz Canner, the filmmaker, consistently undermines the medical basis of FSD as she

The medicalization of such a social problem and the broad symptoms of FSD are
in part due to role of pharmaceutical companies in defining the disease itself. Liz
Canner asks a representative of the pharmaceutical company VIVUS how they can
make a drug for such a new, ambiguous disease and is shocked by her response. The
representative talked about how VIVUS defines the disease, suggesting that the
disease is to be defined and interpreted by pharmaceutical companies rather than by
unbiased medical professionals. A study done on FSD that made headlines across
America claimed that 43% of women showed symptoms of FSD, yet the researcher
who made these claims was being paid by a drug company. The researcher had
originally said that many of these women who fall into the infamous 43% actually
showed normal sexual responses. By the time the incorrect statement had been
retracted, it was already too late because the media had relentlessly pushed the
statistic. Pharmaceutical companies
Literary Analysis Of The Outsiders
The Outsiders Literary Analysis Are things really rough all over? S.E. Hinton
shows in her young adult novel The Outsiders that people s prejudice leads to
violence and oppression. S.E. Hinton shows this through events that take place and
the characters such as Ponyboy, Johnny, Dally and others. In the book The
Outsiders, Ponyboy lives with his two brothers Sodapop and Darry. His parents
died when he was young. Ponyboy enjoys reading and going to see movies. He was
walking back from the movies and got jumped. Johnny has also been jumped in the
past. Hinton shows the theme that, prejudice leads to wrong conclusions, violence

The theme is that there is prejudice between the gangs, like the rumble in the end of

still be greasers and Socs will still be Socs. ... (pg.117) This quote is showing that
you are who you are, and there is not much you can do to change it. Another quote
from The Outsiders is Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay gold. ... (pg.148) Johnny says this
when he is sick and dying in the hospital in chapter nine. When Johnny says this he
is referring to the poem Nothing gold can stay by Robert Frost. Johnny is saying
nothing good can stay forever. The definition of symbolism is a figure of speech

Effects Of The Battle Of Coral Harbor On Pearl Harbor
The Japanese saw the U.S. as a threat to their expansion aspirations in Asia. Their
strategy was to find a way to impede the U.S. long enough to finish their goal. This
resulted in the attack of Pearl Harbor. During this time, Japanese also set up
offenses in American controlled regions in the Pacific such as the Philippines,
Guam and Midway islands. Under the leadership of General Douglass MacArthur,
some battles ended in defeat like the Philippines. American and Filipino prisoners of
the Battle of Bataan resulted in a Death March. Prisoners would either die going to

Coral Sea, with the US slowing down Japanese advancement. Soon, the Japanese s

Comparing Orwell s 1984 and Machiavelli s The Prince ...
When examining the totalitarian government of 1984 by George Orwell, a direct
connection can be drawn to the motives and ideals associated with NiccolГі
Machiavelli s The Prince. Machiavelli s support of the political necessity as a means
to remain in power resonate with the government whose aim is to extinguish once
and for all the possibility of independent thought as a way to ensure complete political
orthodoxy within the country (193). Specifically, Machiavellian thought plays an
important part in 1984 as its ideas on reputation, revolution, avoiding hatred, and the
use of fear to control a populace are used by INGSOC in order to maintain complete
control throughout the story. In the following paragraphs, the connections between
these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these policies is described when Orwell states It is deliberate policy to keep
even the favored groups somewhere near the brink of hardship, because a general
state of scarcity increase the importance of small privileges (191). This idea of
maintaining constant hardship in order to increase the importance of small actions is
an important tool used by the government in the book. It allows them to garner public
support incredibly easily by means of very small or near inconsequential actions, thus
reducing the chance of revolution. Revolution against the government is further
prevented by the society present in the story. This is due to the fact that although
some citizens decidedly are against the Party, the restrictive atmosphere prevents
them from networking with other like minded individuals. This idea is characterized
well by Winston when he explains that, they talked of engaging in active rebellion
against the Party, but with no notion of how to take the first step . Thus, the
difficulty in creating a popular revolutionary movement is exponentially more
difficult. A final obstacle facing revolutionaries in 1984 is that they do not know
whether or not their ideas represent the majority in the society. Its an incredibly
important point because as Machiavelli points out, whoever conspires always
believes that he will satisfy the people with the death of the prince, but if he believes

Education Is The Best Important Things For Me Essay
Education is one of the most important things for me. I believe education is the
way to be a better person, and it is the key to being who you want to be. My dream
is to be a doctor; however, I have limited resources. My parents did not have money
to send me to college. I am currently getting a loan for my associate degree. I am
concern about the amount of money I am going to pay back on the loan after I
graduate. This is making me anxious and is limiting my likelihood to continue post
associate degree. I know many people who are in the same situation. Many people
drop out from college, and many also choose not to seek college education just
because of the expensive tuition. That s why I am proposing free college tuition and
fees for all Americans, so that students from poor families can also seek college
education without financial worries, so that student can focus on learning, and so
that graduates can start their various careers free of debtor without significant debt in
order to focus on developing the economy.
As in every country, all American are not equal in terms of wealth. There are few
people extremely rich, and we have rich people, then we have the middle class,
followed by the poor who struggle to make ends meet. It is so obvious for poor
people to put their basic needs such as food and shelter as a priority whereas
spending money on education represents a luxury for them. However, education is
the way to come out of poverty because it leads to employment which
Legislators Must Satisfy Both Constituents’ and
Partisan’s...
The Constitution of California expects legislators, which includes both State s senate
and House of Representatives, to influence agency decision making, to build political
support for increases or decreases in agency funding to lay the political foundation
for new programs and policies, and to capture media attention and enhance the power
of the California State Congress members. However, not all legislators are able to
fulfill their duties and comply with the state s expectations. Indeed, their efficacy to
serve California varies on the length of their experience, familiarity to government
system, and commitment to public service. Evaluating their performances for the
past ten years, legislators can be distinguished by their competence... Show more

Thus, most legislators always allocate enough personnel and staff resources for any
constituent services such as handling casework and managing pork barrels
strategically. Also, they become efficient as they continue to devote their time,
informing their districts about the activities happening in the capitol, maintaining
good communication, and consistently explaining relevant issues that will impact the
lives of their constituent and even the entire California voters. Indeed, spending
great deal of time with their own districts help legislator to understand the needs of
their constituents and know whether their responsibilities are being accomplished.
Secondly, lots of political experiences and legislative active participations are needed
in order to become an effective lawmaker. In order to make bill a law, mastery of
legislation procedures and well rounded tactics are necessary to bargain and
compromise effectively with the competing demands of other legislators, parties,
and constituents. According to Gerard Padro Miquel and James M. Snyder, Jr. s

The Art Teacher Entered The Classroom

This was English, not art. Do you have Iero? Mr Way, the art teacher, asked the
English teacher, Mr Brown. Frank s eyes widened, not expecting that. Frank s in

Frank for a little while and nodded his head to the door. Come with me. Frank
nodded, scrambling to his feet and following the tall teacher. Seriously, Frank was
really short. He looked up at Mr Way, feeling a bit anxious. The thing was, was that
Mr Way fucking scared Frank. He wasn t intimidating in any way, and always

talking to him. Mr Way s voice snapped Frank back to reality. Do you know what

Lindsey s in chemistry... Frank said, trailing off. Mr Way nodded, looking at Frank.
Don t be so nervous, now. You re not in trouble. Frank wanted to say, that s not the
reason I m nervous, but decided to instead laugh a bit and nod. Follow me. Mr Way
said, beckoning Frank with his hand. They made it to literature and chemistry,

The Practice Of Genital Mutilation
Final Paper The practice of genital mutilation is a cultural tradition performed
across central Africa, in the southern Sahara, and in parts of the Middle East. Most
women who have experienced FGC live in one of the 28 countries in Africa and
the Middle East where FGC is practiced. Almost one half of women who have
experienced FGC live in Egypt or Ethiopia. To a lesser degree, FGC is practiced in
Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, and India. Some immigrants practice various forms
of FGC in other parts of the world, including Australia, Cana da, New Zealand, the
United States, and in European nations. Circumcision is a religious or cultural ritual

Female circumcision in Africa is completed in order to prove that the female is
going to be able to endure life s hardships, and that she will be able to handle
responsibility when older. Muslims believe females must get circumcised in order
to curb the female s sexual desire. After the procedure, the women are expected to
get married and start their own families. This procedure is usually done on young
girls between infancy and the age of 15, most likely before puberty starts. The
procedure is traditionally carried out by a woman with no medical training.
Anesthetics and antiseptic treatments are not normally used, and the practice is
usually carried out using knives, scissors, and scalpels, pieces of glass or razor
blades. Girls are sometimes put down in restraints. There are some immediate and
long term effects to this procedure including, severe pain, shock, bleeding, HIV and
hepatitis, abnormal periods, complication in pregnancy and pain in sex. It can also
sometimes lead to death. Surgery can be performed to open up the lower vagina
called the reversal , although it cannot restore sensitive tissue that has been
removed. Surgery may be necessary for women who are unable to have
intercourse, as the vagina is too narrow. In addition, some pregnant women who
have had FGM will need to have their lower vagina opened up before labor, to allow
a safer birth. FGM increases the risk of the vagina tearing during delivery, which
causes damage and can lead to
Case Study On Maintenance Managers
Monday was my first day on the sales side of the company. That morning me and
Dave had a lengthy conversation/review of good calling practices and the mentality
that I should have when calling potential clients. Dave decided to start me off easy
with calling Maintenance Managers. Then the majority of Monday morning was
taken up with drafting and editing an appropriate script that I would be comfortable
with. At the end of Monday morning I started calling and on my fourth call ever I
got a promising lead with Chiquita that I sent follow up information to at the end of
the day. Monday afternoon was filled with calling Maintenance Managers and
following up with the three positive hits that I got from calling. Calling Maintenance

After all the interviews were done we sat in a meeting with all the hiring managers
as they swapped information about the various candidates. Overall the mini
conference was a remarkable success. They are sending job offers out to 8 out of
the 10 candidates and bringing one back on site for a follow up interview. I had a
dentist appointment at 4, so I had to run to that after getting back from the mini
conference. Friday morning, I used the skills that Andy taught me to do my own
research and find new companies. Late Monday morning and after Lunch I worked
on making call plans for myself. In the afternoon, I called through most of my plan
and am now wring this report. One of the first things I learned this week is the
importance of listening when talking to clients. If you talk to them like you are a
robot and don t have any personality, or worse, not be adaptive to what they are
saying then they are not going to give you the time of day. Another important thing
I learned is the LACE acronym. Dave taught me this when dealing with people
who want to send you to HR. You listen to what they are saying, acknowledge what
they are saying, clarify what they said (can be optional), and then explain yourself
and what you are trying to do. I have implemented this strategy in real calls and it
truly works and has kept me from being blown off to HR. This
Life Of Pi Identity Essay
Many people find who they truly are as a person when they are by themselves in
their journey of self identity. In the book, Life of Pi, written by Yann Martel and
the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, two characters, Pi and Biff,
go on a spiritual journey towards self identity. Life of Pi is a story about a young
man named Pi, who survives a shipwreck and months in a lifeboat with a large
Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Being stuck on a boat with a tiger created the
struggle and challenge of survival and how Pi must overcome these struggles and
challenges. Death of a Salesmanis a story about an aging, failing salesman, named
Willy Loman who makes his living riding on smile and a shoeshine and how his
american dream is ruled by societies view of how to be successful. The two works
show how both Pi and Biff (respectively) grow and realize who they are as the book
and play go on. Firstly, they both have expectations from their parents that they feel
pressured to live up to. Secondly, they also have a connection with nature through
which, they come to grow and realize their identity. Finally, Pi and Biff discover and
accept who they truly are as they are both courageous enough to follow their own
beliefs/desires. Both authors present how both characters... Show more content on

Chinua Crude Prices And Its Implications On India
FALL IN CRUDE PRICES ITS IMPLICATIONS ON INDIA
Introduction:
The presence of crude oil was first discovered in China way back in 3rd or 4th
century A.D. The presence of oil in India was discovered in late 1889 at Digboi in
Assam where the first crude oil refinery was set up in 1901. India is not among the
major oil producers and that is why it generally depends on imports from other
countries. The largest crude oil producing country is Saudi Arabia followed by
Russia and America. The extent of the commodity s importance was shown to the
world when the world s strongest economies were shaken up as the oil prices shot
up in 1973 and 1979, after this the whole oil sector was nationalized in India.
Currently, crude oil alone is responsible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main reasons is the mismatch between the demand and supply of oil.
Due to sluggish pace of global economies, the demand has been reducing. The
other more important reason is tremendous increase in production levels by the oil
extraction using Shale Gas formations in wells of Texas and North Dakota. When
the oil prices were at $110 115/barrel, they drilled oil from shale gas formations
which was earlier considered unviable due to low profit margins. This drilling has
resulted into a supply glut which is further helped by Saudi Arabia and OPEC who are
reluctant to decrease production. Source: www.wtrg.com
It is said that OPEC as a cartel has been unfruitful is maintaining the price levels.
Some say that OPEC and Saudi Arabia are purposely not relenting to reduce the
production as oil production from Shale Gas formations is much more expensive
than oil production at Saudi Arabia (~$5 6/barrel) which is the lowest in the world.
OPEC and Saudi Arabia hope to wipe out the Shale Gas producers by the continued
fall of crude oil price levels to less than $50/barrel after which it is believed that it
would be unviable for the Shale Gas producers to continue.
Impact of the fall for India Crude Oil prices affect the life of the average human
being in India in multiple ways from food prices to transport costs. It would seem
that falling crude oil prices is great news which couldn t

Freud Essays Crafting an essay on the subject of "Freud Essays" can be a challenging endeavor that demands a comprehensive understanding of Sigmund Freud's complex theories and contributions to psychology. Freud's ideas, ranging from the interpretation of dreams to the structure of the human psyche, require in-depth research and a nuanced analysis. King Hammurabi s Code Of Babylon The year is 1901 the United States stock market just crashed for the very first time, typhoid fever has broken out in Seattle, and several other, minor catastrophes are occurring in various parts of the world; but for the most part, people are living out their daily lives as they normally would. However, one fateful day in Iran, a group of French archaeologists make a groundbreaking discovery while excavating. What they come across is none other than the pillar of Hammurabi s Code of Laws, a magnificent basalt structure depicting the first written code of laws for any civilization, created by King Hammurabi himself for what was known as the Old Babylonperiod (ushistory.org 2016). Although there is definitely no question that Babylon thrived under the rule of Hammurabi, and that he did a remarkable job at keeping order and justice... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The laws were carefully inscribed into a very large, basalt pillar reaching over seven feet tall when standing. At the top of the stone block, there lies a statue depicting King Hammurabi receiving a gift from a sun god (Kerrigan, M. 2011), followed by the code itself beginning with the phrase, Anu and Bel called by name me, Hammurabi, the exalted prince... and continuing on to describe how Hammurabi was chosen to rule over his people by the gods themselves (ushistory.org 2016). A large majority of the laws covered the concepts of property ownerships, but they also take up other important aspects including false accusations, liability in accidents, injury, marriages, and just general treatment of people in the society. A new issue was also brought up in the laws which gave a women the ability to divorce her husband if she would so choose to, which was never allowed in any prior civilization or city (Fairservis, Jr., W. These numbers include the freshmen, sophomores, and the juniors who seem to be the most affected. The majority of students are dropping out because of the higher cost of tuitions. Most college dropouts could not afford the cost of textbooks and other fees in order to continue their education. Also the lack of study skills needed to help them succeed and not enough resources available to students. A lack of balance of a social life and academics is somewhat difficult for most college student, allowing friends and pleasure to out weight their academic schedule. Schools should put in place more networks of peer groups or peer teams and make it mandatory to all students to get involved. This can make it very easy for them to cope with college hard demand schedule and homework. In some ways, discussion groups and interactions of learning teams will help the student to take interest in academic progress. Also, competitions among the peer groups will give a student chance to fit into academic demand. This can make the academic stress become fun. It is interesting to know that success in beating other groups will make up for lack of concentrations and encouragement. Of course, no student can succeed without academic participation and commitment. In a book by Tim R. Westerberg, he stated 6 strategies for moving schools from good to great 1. • 6. Teacher Merit Pay Case Study A. Current Issues: Teacher Merit Pay: States were asked by the U.S. Department of Education in their 2010 application for Race to the Top monies to include proposals for implementing teacher merit pay based on classroom performance (Woessmann, 2011). Merit pay or performance based pay is a bonus for teachers whose students show above average growth over a set period of time measured by many different standards that are picked by local and/or state districts. The hope is that teacher merit pay would have an immediate impact on student achievement. Teacher merit pay stirs an emotional response from teachers, politicians, and parents. President Barack Obama has called for a national effort to improve student achievement in the classroom and often... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cons: Opponents to merit pay believe it would result in a counter productive narrowing of teacher s goals and competition between educators who otherwise would promote meaningful collaboration (Ritter, 2010). In most instances, teachers can earn a pay raise in only two ways: experience and additional education credentials such as advanced degrees (Cowley, 2011). Cultural expectations for student performance are high in Asia which may mislead claims that performance pay increases student achievement (Woessman, 2011). A merit pay system may discourage top scholars from majoring in education. The evaluation instruments used to measure teachers performance are typically flawed and do not have strong research to back them. If we want teachers to support merit pay, we should be considering plans that offer substantial awards in the 10% to 20% of base salary; however, this is often not the case. Evaluations of teachers for merit pay are often subjective leading to widely inaccurate measurements. The first reaction of most teachers is skeptical and provokes anger (Ritter, 2010). • 8. How Do Dante And Virgil Enter The Fourth Circle In Inferno Canto VII, Dante and Virgil enter the fourth circle and are greeted by Plutus who guards the entrance to this circle. Plutus is denying them passage but Virgil shuts the creature down with some words. Dante yells when he notices a trench begin to form causing a ring in that circle. Inside that ring there are two groups of people. They are pushing heaving weights along, indignantly and in agony. The two groups crash into each other halfway through the circle then turn around and walk the opposite direction. These souls are condemned to an eternal jousting match. Virgil explains to Dante that these souls are the Avarices and the Prodigals that during their time on Earth hoarded and recklessly wasted their money. Dante s curiosity begins to ask if he knows any of the souls in the fourth circle. Virgil explains to him that the Avaricious are the corrupt clergymen, popes, and cardinals. Because of the torture they have received, their faces and identities have become unrecognizable. Virgil points out to Dante that the Avaricious and Prodigals share one common factor; they were both reckless with the goods of Fortune. They continue their walk to the Styx. In Purgatorio Cantos XIX XXII, Dante and Virgil are making their way through the terraces of the purgatory. It starts off with Dante having a dream about a woman. Dante describes her as having crossed eyes, crooked feet, crippled hands, pale, and she stutters when she speaks. Realizing that he can control his own dream, Dante decides to make her into his fantasy lady. He loosens her tongue, fixes her limbs so she can stand straight and adds color to her complexion. It runs out he has created a Siren. She begins to sing about the things she has done in her lifetime including seducing men to their death like she did with Ulysses. Before she can finish her dreadful song, another woman appears. She is alert and saintly. Her appearance causes the Siren to stop her song mid track. This new woman asks Virgil the identity of the Siren so Virgil shows up in the dream and rips off the Siren s clothes. It turns out that her beauty was just on her face because the Siren emits a rotten smell from her stomach causing Dante to regret his attraction for this

The Quantity Theory of Money is an economic theory that states that the level of money supply in an economy is directly proportional to the general price level. In conformity with Wright, R. • 23. Serial Murder And Mass Murder Before we can take on the definitions of serial murder and mass murder, we must first understand what exactly constitutes murder. According to the United States Code section 1111, murder is defined as the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought (4). With that said, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the term serial murderimplies that there are at least three different murder events at three different locations, with a cooling off period between each event (Ramsland, 2009). Individuals who perpetrate the crimeof serial murder are referred to as serial killers. The term serial killerwas coined in the mid 1970s by Robert Ressler, the former director of the FBI s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program. He chose the name serial killer because authorities in England called these types of murders crimes in a series (Freeman, 2007). John Wayne Gacy, known as the Killer Clown, who tortured, raped and murdered 33 men between 1972 and 1978 is an example of a serial killer. On the other hand, mass murder is defined as four or more murders occurring during a particular event with no cooling off period between the murders. A mass murder typically occurs in a single location in which a number of victims are killed by an individual (2). An example of a mass murder would be the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing perpetrated by Timothy McVeigh, in which 168 people were killed. While serial murder has a definition that contains certain

I mainly listened to whatever was playing either in the background or what my mom was listening to. I can personally say that I didn t have much of a care for musical compositions. At the time I didn t have a preference of the particular genre of musicmuch, but now as I am older, I enjoy it as it allows me to reminisce on memories from specific times in my childhood. Once after I had hit my teenage years music began to become my life and gradually started to inhibit on my soul. Music has the ability to convey all sorts of emotions in my personal opinion. Whether the emotionis happiness or sadness and despair through foot tapping rhythms, harmonies and the lyrics music shows it. The musical images that music and song are able to portray and create are amazing. Music has created the ability to turn or transport me back in time just like a time machine. Allowing me to revisit lost and forgotten moments in life. Songs can paint a picture, for example in classical and country music where a story is being told compared to pop songs. The music in classical music tells a story without lyrics which is a strong and powerful thing. I

Seneca is one optimistic person who always dreamed to be proud of herself. Not only with her inner beauty but with her outer beauty too. Building confidence upon herself rose her self esteem. Leaving all the negativity out and bringing the positivity in, made her days much more healthy and bright. She always asked herself, What s better than being happy with yourself? These thoughts encouraged her to consider cosmetology as a career. Cosmetology is a career where she can make people happy and feel confident with themselves by helping their personal style and hygiene. Therefore she considered education, job growth, job description, and salary. Cosmetology s required education is short and interesting, although there are differences between schools. In order to enroll into a cosmetology school or program you must have your high school diploma or GED. The school future cosmetologists chooses to assist can definitely determine how difficult it may be. For example, if you attend a community college you will learn the basics at a low cost. While if you attend a private cosmetology school you will learn much more than the basic. A private cosmetology school will of course be much more expensive than your option of the community college. Cosmetology is a short and quick program. It can be done within nine to eleven months
  • 30. Virginia V. Texas, The Supreme Court Upheld The... In Fisher v Texas, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of special admissions programs; but this could only be done under strict judicial scrutiny, and with narrowly tailored provisions. Two separate questions stem from this: What does narrowly tailoring mean in light of the 14th Amendment? And how can other universities implement admission standards that are constitutionally permissible? Short Answer Grutter and Gratz established that race could be a factor in the admissions process. But it must pass strict scrutiny. At first blush, this might appear discriminatory. But if there is a compelling government interest, then it is not covered by the Equal Protection Clause, in the Fourteenth Amendment. So to pass strict scrutiny... It cannot accept every student, so schools must have the ability to sift through applicants. For example, test scores, GPA, extracurricular activities, and the like, can be used when considering an applicants file. In short, this in no way perverts or violates the Equal Protection Clause; schools have a reasonable interest in denying certain applicants because they cannot admit every student that applies. Discussion of Cases: How the Court Applied Strict Scrutiny When a University implements special admissions requirements, like race and ethnicity, the Court called for the most exacting judicial scrutiny when reviewing cases of this nature (Bakke v U.S.). For this, the rational basis test is faulty. Strict scrutiny is prescribed to examine race cases. The Court visited this topic in two separate cases: Grutter v Bollinger and Gratz v Bollinger. Grutter examined admissions requirements for Michigan Law School, and Gratz examined Michigan undergraduate requirements. Once again, emphasis was placed on applying strict scrutiny when race plays a factor in admissions. The court also established the need for narrowly tailored provisions when implementing such programs. In Grutter, the court re emphasized the fact that cultivating a diverse student body was a compelling state interest. And according to Chief Justice Rehnquist, student body diversity is a compelling state

When examining the totalitarian government of 1984 by George Orwell, a direct connection can be drawn to the motives and ideals associated with NiccolГі Machiavelli s The Prince. Machiavelli s support of the political necessity as a means to remain in power resonate with the government whose aim is to extinguish once and for all the possibility of independent thought as a way to ensure complete political orthodoxy within the country (193). One of these policies is described when Orwell states It is deliberate policy to keep even the favored groups somewhere near the brink of hardship, because a general state of scarcity increase the importance of small privileges (191). This idea of maintaining constant hardship in order to increase the importance of small actions is an important tool used by the government in the book. It allows them to garner public support incredibly easily by means of very small or near inconsequential actions, thus reducing the chance of revolution. Revolution against the government is further prevented by the society present in the story. This is due to the fact that although some citizens decidedly are against the Party, the restrictive atmosphere prevents them from networking with other like minded individuals. This idea is characterized well by Winston when he explains that, they talked of engaging in active rebellion against the Party, but with no notion of how to take the first step . Thus, the difficulty in creating a popular revolutionary movement is exponentially more difficult. A final obstacle facing revolutionaries in 1984 is that they do not know whether or not their ideas represent the majority in the society. Its an incredibly important point because as Machiavelli points out, whoever conspires always believes that he will satisfy the people with the death of the prince, but if he believes he
