War Against Terrorism Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of the "War Against Terrorism" is a challenging task that requires a
deep understanding of global politics, historical contexts, and the intricate dynamics of modern
warfare. The subject is broad and complex, encompassing various perspectives, ideologies, and
geopolitical considerations.
To begin with, one must delve into the origins of terrorism, tracing its roots through historical
events and ideological developments. This requires meticulous research to accurately portray the
historical context leading up to the declaration of a "war against terrorism." Understanding the
motives of different terrorist groups, their ideologies, and the geopolitical factors that contribute
to their emergence is essential.
Moreover, analyzing the responses of nations and international organizations to combat terrorism
adds another layer of complexity. The essay must explore the strategies employed, ranging from
military interventions to diplomatic efforts, and assess their effectiveness. Additionally,
discussing the ethical and legal implications of these counter-terrorism measures adds a
dimension of depth to the analysis.
Addressing the consequences of the war against terrorism is equally challenging. This involves
examining the impact on civilian populations, the reconfiguration of global alliances, and the
long-term geopolitical ramifications. Analyzing the societal, economic, and political
consequences requires a comprehensive understanding of the interconnected nature of the global
community.
Furthermore, crafting a well-structured and coherent essay on this topic demands a critical
evaluation of various sources, ranging from academic papers to news articles. Balancing different
perspectives while maintaining an unbiased and objective tone is crucial. The essay should
present a nuanced and informed argument that reflects a comprehensive understanding of the
subject matter.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the "War Against Terrorism" requires extensive research,
critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the complex issues at play. It is not merely a
recounting of historical events but a thoughtful analysis that considers the multifaceted aspects of
the topic. Despite its difficulty, tackling such a complex subject can contribute significantly to
one's understanding of global affairs and contemporary challenges.

Increase College Dropouts
Increase in college drop out: Rough draft Why is the college dropout rate steadily
increasing? These numbers include the freshmen, sophomores, and the juniors who
seem to be the most affected. The majority of students are dropping out because of
the higher cost of tuitions. Most college dropouts could not afford the cost of
textbooks and other fees in order to continue their education. Also the lack of study
skills needed to help them succeed and not enough resources available to students. A
lack of balance of a social life and academics is somewhat difficult for most college

Schools should put in place more networks of peer groups or peer teams and make
it mandatory to all students to get involved. This can make it very easy for them to
cope with college hard demand schedule and homework. In some ways, discussion
groups and interactions of learning teams will help the student to take interest in
academic progress. Also, competitions among the peer groups will give a student
chance to fit into academic demand. This can make the academic stress become fun.
It is interesting to know that success in beating other groups will make up for lack
of concentrations and encouragement. Of course, no student can succeed without
academic participation and commitment. In a book by Tim R. Westerberg, he stated
6 strategies for moving schools from good to great 1. Developing clear instructional
Goals. 2. Developing a Common vision of effective instructions. 3. Using frequent
Formative Assessment. 4. Tracking of student Progress. 5. Providing Timely
Intervention for Struggling Student. 6 Celebrating Student Success (Westerberg 4).
This is where peer groups and professors will have to play a major role that will help
bring the student`s mind alive and love for academic

Booker T. Washington ( 1856-1915 )
Booker T. Washington (1856 1915) was a standout amongst the most persuasive (and
questionable) African Americans ever. Brought up the child of a slave mother,
Washington was self propelled and focused on his own training from a youthful age.
The tumultuous time in America s history amid which he lived managed him new
opportunities that originated from Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of
1863 and the inevitable achievement of the North in the Civil War. He took the first
chance to go to a formal school, Hampton Institute, which prompted residency and the
establishing of a standout amongst the most prestigious African Americaninstructive
organizations of the nineteenth century, Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Washington
was seen as pleasing the norm of African American subordination on the grounds that
the message of his works and addresses was that the street to accomplishment for
blacks was through attaining to monetary dependability through training (primarily,
professional preparing); he didn t dissent, did not challenge the political framework,
did not talk about the absence of social fairness like his commentators, Frederick
Douglass and W.E.B. Du Bois. Washington decided to focus on what blacks could
fulfill by concentrating on learning mechanical abilities; he accepted this would help
his race secure financial confidence. Washington felt the aggressor talk of Douglass
and Du Bois redirected his kin from the way to success through monetary
achievement. It

time during the Progressive era. They strove to conserve the core principles of the
American constitutionalism from reformist of Progressivism. As people trust that our
(Americans) liberties can remain secure only if government is so limited that it
cannot infringe upon inherent rights, they resisted the Progressive ambitions for
direct, unrestrained democracy and the resulting the attacks on the courts,
representative government, and the traditional limits of the presidency.
Three men, mentioned above, understood and accepted the necessity of Progressive

blocking their way to Progressive. In fact, they didn t try to The Sixteenth
Amendment had widespread support, and they gave it theirs in part to end the bitter
disputes about tariff schedules that had long divided the Republican Party. It is also

Things They Carried Essay Anything can change a person if they are not ready for
that change. The short story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong, in Things They
Carried, by Tim O Brien represents this by showing change in Mary Anne, who is a
character the reader probably would not expect to see in a book about the Vietnam
War. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high school girl
she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and
that is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out
very clear. In the beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was
seventeen years old, fresh out of Cleveland Heights Senior High. She had long white
legs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can t feel like that anywhere else (O Brien 111). Mary Anne is inevitably
drawn to the other side the other side in this case being the Vietnam War itself. She
is not completely part of it yet but she sure is fascinated by it, and will be part of it
soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation between herself and
the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However
towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person.
This can be shown perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She
was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace
of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill (O Brien 116).
Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can
be seen that Mary Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human
tongues, which is crazy weird. However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes
and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that made her appear so American
at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not because of
the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s
the war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. A example that shows
Mary Anne going through her change is in the quote, Mary Anne made you think
about those girls back home, how clean and innocent they all are, how they ll never

Comparing Male and Female Mass Indexes
Method:
The experiment was conducted with the informed consent of all of the participants.
These subjects consisted of 34 males and 30 females all of which were in good
health and aged between 18 and 36. Confidentiality was of utmost importance and
respected throughout the entire project. If any potential subjects did not wish to
participate then that was understood and they did not take part. Another means of
safeguarding the privacy of both groups (males and females) was to conduct the
measurements at different times. One session was for males only and another for
only females.
The following measurements were taken body mass (kg), height (m), % body fat, 2nd
digit (index finger)(mm), 4th digit (ring finger)(mm), foot (cm), waist (cm), hip (cm),
BMI and then the differences between 2nd and 4th digits, waist to hip and height to
foot sizes.
The body mass was taken using analogue scales, the height using a stadiometer, %
body fat using bio electrical impedance analysis monitor (with damp hands), 2nd and
4th digit (on the right hand) and foot (right foot) size using an accurate ruler and
finally the hip using a tape measure.
After the process had taken place of gathering all the required measurements we then
carried out a statistical analysis which included the mean averages, the standard
deviation and finally the t test using the primary data we had gathered. The software
used was OpenOffice.org Calculator, this software is very similar to that of Microsoft

King Tut Research Paper
King Tut was an Egyptian king that mysteriously died at age nineteen. The mystery
starts when Akhenaten, who is Tut s father marries Nefertiti and has Tut. After that,
Akhenaten marries another woman and has Ankhesenamun. Akhenaten was hieratic,
which means the belief in one God. Ancient Egyptians were polytheistic, which is the

Employer Sponsored 401 Essay
The legislation that permits employers to automatically enroll new employees in
employer sponsored 401(k) plans is commonly known as the Pension Protection Act
of 2006 and is public law number 109 280. Pension Protection Act of 2006, P.L. 109
280, В§ 902, 102 Stat 780 (2006).
This change was made due to the fact that many eligible employees did not
participate in their employer sponsored 401(k) plans. By allowing employers to
automatically enroll employees in employer sponsored 401(k) plans the government
hoped that more employees would participate in these programs.
An automatic enrollment plan must meet requirements regarding: (1) automatic

How Did The Enlightenment Influence Society
The middle of the eighteenth century saw the use of reason and empirical evidence to
support claims rather than relying on blind authority. Increasing interest in science,
art, and the progression of society defined the age known as the Enlightenment.
Although the Enlightenment was eventually successful in influencing modern
society, there was an opposition to the new ways of thinking known as the Counter
Enlightenment. The Counter Enlightenment was shaped by people from all
backgrounds who believed that the philosophes ideas against religion and absolute
monarchy would be detrimental to society. Influential philosophers, church members,
and government officials resided on either side of the argument, Rousseau being one
of them. When studying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The majority of the philosophes were atheists, and as Rousseau wrote to Voltaire in
1756, All the subtleties of metaphysics will not make me doubt the immortality of
the soul for a moment (Gay 546). In Profession of Faith of a Savoyard Vicar,
Rousseau criticized the religion of the philosophes in greater detail, considering them
haughty and immoral for their lack of religious belief. The Church and other
members of the Counter Enlightenment often quoted Rousseau in their arguments
against Voltaire. Furthermore, Rousseau was appalled by the idea of progress,
stating that the development of these areas corrupts people s morals. In his
Discourse on the Arts and Sciences, Rousseau discussed the effect of progress and
polite society on virtue. He wrote that the effect is certain, the depravity real, and our
souls have become corrupted due to the advancements in science and art (First
Discourse 10). The Counter Enlightenment, though often pertaining to religion,
supported Rousseau in his belief in the loss of virtue with science and the

The Name Says It All. Many Names Have Meanings
Connected
The Name Says It All Many names have meanings connected to them, like the name
Erika having the meaning ruler. In Amara Lakhous s novel Divorce Islamic Style,
there is a strong focus on the importance of names, which are used as the first and
foremost way to describe a character. These characters, such as Christian, Sofia, and
various minor characters, are described and developed according to the names they
have been given. One of the first characters we are introduced to is Christian (alias
Issa). Both Christian s birth name and spy name have meanings that represent his
character. His birth name Christian has the literal meaning of a Christian (Behind the
Name). His spy name, Issa, is the Arabic form of Jesus(Lakhous 34).... Show more

For instance, Christian listens to Saber s passions of soccer and Simona Barberini

upset student who could not get room at the building (Lakhous 66 67). Christian
lives up to both his birth name and his spy name, by exhibiting the characteristics of
Jesus (Issa) and ultimately the ideals a Christian is to uphold. Christian s names are
a major descriptor of his characteristics, as well as having some irony to them as well.
Another character whose two names help describe herself is Sofia, or Safia. Sofia s
birth name, Safia, relatively means pure (Behind the Name). Her European name,
Sofia, means wisdom (Behind the Name). Both names describe the character Sofia,
although her European name is perhaps the easiest to see and most commonly used
of the two. Sofia shows her wisdom throughout the novel. The most often time when
this is shown is when she discusses the beliefs and teachings of Islam, such as her
understanding and explanation of maktГ№b, where she shows a great amount of
thoughtfulness in how destiny cannot be subverted but can be changed by God
(Lakhous 31 32). She understands that while she cannot change destiny, and it will
happen no matter what, it can turn out unexpectedly due to the hand of a higher
power. She also shows wisdom when understanding the battles of marriage, such as
when she argued with her husband about wearing the

Identifying Areas That Expose Hospitals Essay
Identifying areas that expose hospitals to WSPEs are critical for managing risks. Key

Mandatory Reporting of Near Misses. Reporting near misses is fundamental to
error prevention. Near misses reflect potential failures in current processes, which
proves invaluable for proactively reducing errors. According to Neily et al. (2011, p.

The first problem was to find all of these customers who were expressing their pain
on the web and then to allocate their attention on to them. The second problem was
to develop a process that operationalized the problem resolution and made it

tools such as RSS feeds, open application programming interfaces (APIs), and content
scraping tools to obtain and pool user generated content from online forums, blogs,

Trigger Finger Case Study
Overview
Trigger finger, sometimes called trigger thumb, is a condition that locks a person s
finger into a bent position. Sometimes the finger will then snap straight out, similar to
the way a trigger is pulled and released. It happens when inflammation causes the
space around the sheath that protects the tendon to narrow. In severe cases, the finger
cannot be straightened out.
The irritation and inflammation associated with trigger finger disrupts the normal
gliding motion of the tendon as it moves through the sheath. This interference
contributes to the trademark bent position of an affected finger. If the tendon sheath
remains irritated for an extended period of time, it can lead to thickening, scarring,
and bumps that further impede

Reflective Essay on Negotiation
Reflective Essay on Negotiation Negotiation occurs on a regular basis in a daily life
and individuals negotiate in business occasions or outside of the workplace. Having
superior negotiation skills is conductive to the success in personal life and career

Montaigne Tone
Throughout the history of civilization, there have been many great thinkers and
philosophers who lay claim and offer their theory of the world around them. Michel
de Montaigne, a prominent philosopher of the French Renaissance, argued in his
essays of the habitual inconsistency of man and how it is nearly impossible for man
to correct these everyday irregularities and contradictions. To say that man is flawed
and utterly irregular are statements not particularly surprising or revelatory for
philosophers to make, even in Montaigne s time. However, what can be considered
unique about Montaigne, aside from his sharp perceptions of the everyday man, are
his sharp and honest perceptions of himself, never bragging about his intellectual
prowess or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With each philosopher comes a different theory and approach to life, but a common
thread amongst a great many of them is this tone, this speaking with certainness and
authority. For instance, in the famous quote by Rene Descartes, I think, therefore I
am, comes with it a type of assertiveness. Montaigne s approach, however, comes in
contrary to Descartes. Rather than coming across as definite and without doubt,
Montaigne speaks very modestly and even query. In his Of the Inconstancy of Our
Actions, Montaigne states, I have nothing to say of myself entirely, simply, and
solidly without mixture and confusion (4 5). So, rather than saying, I think, therefore
I am, Montaigne seems to first ask, What is it that I think, why do I think that, and
how does this get back to me? all while trying to put the pieces of his character
together. Also, the simple fact remains that one cannot heighten their image or affirm
their stature without first fully knowing what their image or stature is. And
Montaigne seems rather uneasy to make such announcements. Rather than having
explanation marks, Montaigne would hang questions for nearly every statement he
would make; he did not feel he was capable of developing a grand plan or theory
behind things, and this modesty can be found in the initial purpose of his
Figurative Language In A Doll s House
In A Doll s House many instances of symbolism and imagery are used throughout
the story. Symbolism is the use of one or more objects to or represent, a different
or abstract ideas. Imagery is visually descriptive or figurative language, especially
in a literary work, which creates a mental picture for the readers mind. Nora spent
most of her life as a toy. Her father would be unhappy if she had different opinions
from him. The masquerade and costumes are her own masquerade; their marriage is
a decorated Christmas tree. She also pretends to be the doll, letting Torvald dress her
up and tell her to dance. The author Henrick Ibsen, uses very descriptive language
throughout the play to allow the reader(s) to create a mental picture of what is... Show

The Christmas tree was used to symbolize Nora s psychological state of being and
her appearance in a couple of ways. In the play, Nora instructs the maid that the
children cannot see the tree until it has been decorated, she tells Torvald that no
one can see her in her dress until the evening of the dance. Nora s psychological
condition has begun to erode, the second act stage directions indicate that the
Christmas tree is correspondingly dishevelled. Torvald has banned Nora from
eating macaroons. Although Nora claims that she never disobeys Torvald, this is
proved false in the very opening of the play when Nora eats macaroons while she
was alone in the living room. The macaroons come to represent Nora s
disobedience and deceit. Nora lies to Dr. Rank about being given macaroons and
after preforming the tarantella asks that they be served at dinner. The tarantella is
a traditional dance made of folk dances usually to a fast, upbeat tempo. The
tarantella is another way that Nora expresses the sides of her that she cannot show
on a normal day to day basis. This dance is also used as a way to please Nora s
husband Torvald, the dance creates a desire for her by him and it also gives him,
almost like, a bragging right and the ability to gloat about his wife. He uses Nora s
performance of the tarantella to impress the others. Finally, Nora plays children

Attention Deficit Disorder ( Adhd )
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) continues to be a complex and widespread
problem that is occurring in children at an unprecedented rate. According to DSM V,
a child must present symptoms before the age of twelve and display the symptoms
for at least six months. There are two types of ADHD disorders; inattentive type and
hyperactive impulsive. A child could also have a combination of the two. Some of the
most common symptoms for inattention include lack of attention, difficulty sustaining
attention, difficulty following instructions, easily distracted and forgetfulness.
Common symptoms for hyperactive impulsive include fidgeting, excessive
talking, being on the go very often and interrupting others (Mash Wolfe, 2008).
Both types of ADHD may affect a child s social, personal and academic life.
Children with the disorder may have sleeping problems and are more prone to
accidents. Young children with ADHD show signs of aggression as young as
preschool. During preschool years, they are ignoring their parents, acting out in
public and getting into fights with other students or family members (Modesto, et
al., 2008). As a child enters his or her adolescent years, they are more likely to do
poorly in school and in some cases may even drop out. Their defiance poses a
challenge for the parents (Modesto et al, 2014). Studies have shown that parents with
children who have ADHD frequently reinforce their behaviors by giving attention to
their impulsivity (Modesto, et al.,

Introduction:
Event management involves creation and development of events such as festivals,
conferences, ceremonies, formal parties, concerts or conventions. It includes
identifying the target audience, planning the event concept, organising the logistics
and coordinating the technical aspects prior to the event day. The process of
coordinating the event is called event planning. It involves budgeting, timing,
selecting the venue, obtaining necessary permission, arranging entertainments,
decorations, catering and contingency plans. Many industries, organisations and
groups hold events in order to market themselves, raise money, celebrate achievement
or build business relationships. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concept The type of event that will be held on term 3 is a mini school carnival. The
main purpose of this event is to organise a successful activity for the students. The
event will attract approximately 150 people including students and staffs. The main
facilities and equipment needed to stage the event are the following:
Chairs, tables, sound system, dividing walls, etc.
This event is important to the school community as it is the first time that it will
happen for many years.
Themes The theme chosen to promote the event is carnival or a mini circus. This
event will give the attendees the fresh feeling and avoid that same old feeling. It

A Short Note On Hydrogen Fuel Cell Plug
This report shows a comparison between hydrogen fuel cell plug in hybrid vehicles
(FCHEV) and battery (BEV) and hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) electric vehicles.
Comparing infrastructure and technology requirements along with the lifecycle cost
of the drivetrain (the main components that generate power and deliver it to the road
surface) over 100k miles taking fuel costs and capital costs into consideration.
This can then be compared to a conventional petrol fuelled internal combustion engine
(ICE) drivetrain. A comprehensive sensitivity analysis shows that FCEVs could
achieve lifecycle costs similar to conventional petrol vehicles in the near future.
However, both the BEV and FCHEV have significantly lower lifecycle costs.
Looking forward, the drivetrain lifecycle costs of FCEVs could range from around
ВЈ5000 to ВЈ15000, whereas those for BEVs range from ВЈ4300 to ВЈ7600 and
FCHEVs, from just under ВЈ3000 to ВЈ8400. All vehicle platforms exhibit significant
cost sensitivity to drivetrain capital cost. The BEV and FCHEV are relatively
unaffected by electricity costs but the FCHEV and FCV are affected by the cost of
hydrogen. The BEV and FCHEV are alike in lifecycle cost and one could offer an
advantage over the other depending on driving patterns.
In conclusion, the hydrogen fuel cell plug in hybrid vehicle would be the best route
towards future development of the fuel cell electric vehicles.

Australian Economy Research Paper
Some of the major industries of Australian economy are manufacturing, finance, ship
building, information and technology, agricultural, mining, and insurance. Mining
industry is one of the chief industries which have led to the growth of population in
the Australian continent, right from the time when gold was discovered in Australia.
Mineral and fuels top the list of Australian exports. Australia has often been called
resource rich because of its huge natural deposits of many very useful and valuable
fossil fuels, metals and minerals. Although the agricultural industry has witnessed
a fall from its position during the 1970 s, it still contributes towards Australian
economy. Australia was one of the largest exporters of beef and wool in the whole
world and the third largest of wine and wheat. When Australia was first settled by
Europeans, who brought with them their farming practices and food processing
techniques, it took a few years to produce primary products for sale.by 1790 beer,
butter and cheese were on sale in small quantities in the Sydney and Parramatta
markets. But then more people started arriving in Australia and the population grew,
so more food was needed. Because early settlers saw what they believed to be lots of

Fall of feudalism paper

The plague had an important role in the decline of Feudalism one of these are as
follows power had to shift from nobles to common people because the demand for
workers (to rebuild the economy) was high but there were less workers than before
the black death the cause is that a majority of them died from sickness, this let the
workers that remained to be able to demand more money and more rights. This
finally resulted in many serfs (A laborer bound to the Feudal system) to leave the
manors and move to cities for more opportunities, therefore completely changing
their daily life from disgusting conditions to somewhat civilized human habitable
conditions. Crusades were a great redemption point in the middle ages these were
military expeditions that derived from the pope and they had one goal, to capture
the Holy Land from the Muslim Turks. These crusades occurred between 1096 and
1272 all failed to win back the holy land from the Muslim Turks, crusades helped
Europeans to build better ships and draw better maps and by doing so they could
manage trade routes much more efficiently and allowing explorers to reach land
much faster and claim it for Europe enhancing the economy with faster trading and
navigation. Crusades drastically accelerated the decline of feudalism because, Feudal

Doublethink In George Orwell s 1984

convict of thoughtcrime. He thinks negatively of Oceania s Party and silently rebels
by writing his beliefs in a diary. Although writing isn t considered illegal, detection
of such action is punishable by death (6). While writing down whatever came to
mind, Winston wrote the line DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER over and over again,
later exclaiming how he didn t care if he was shot in the back of the neck for doing so
(18). I compare to the characteristics of Winston Smith through the beliefs that define
thoughtcrime. Although I do not live in a world where thinking negatively is
punishable under law, Winston and I do share common ideologies. For instance,
Winston and I hold comparative opinions of the word doublethink. Both Smith and I
find it questionable, and don t understand how one can hold two contradictory ideas
in the mind simultaneously. An example of a modern day doublethink statement is
you want to fit in with others. It s not a difficult concept to grasp until you come
across the contradictory statement: you should try to stand out from the crowd. Both
concepts alone are applicable to anyone, but they are both simultaneously established
as rules that guide the individual. Examples of doublethink in... Show more content

Thomas Palmer is also a character that agrees along with the serotypes that are
present in the text. He portrays the masculine traits through his character, one of
which being an unemotional husband. This is an important masculine trait since
men are perceived as individuals that are strong, independent and looked upon
people. Being an unemotional person allows men to be focused and dedicated.
Males do not allow emotions come in the way of their goal, making them capable
of controlling their own emotions. Being an unemotional male makes it easier for

Gatsby and Hamlet Essays
Examining Hamlet and The Great Gatsby
1/9/13
According to Roger Lewis, The acquisition of money and love are both part of the
same dream, the will to return to the quintessential unity that exists only at birth and
at death (41). In both William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, and F. Scott Fitzgeralds
novel, The Great Gatsby, the protagonists are willing to sacrifice all that they have in
order to achieve their unrealistic objectives and ambitions, resulting in their tragic
demises. While there are many themes and concepts relevant to both Hamlet and The
Great Gatsby, their parallels regarding their aspirations stand out for further
evaluation. The concept of sacrificing all that a person has, not limiting to their own
life, is ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jay Gatsby spends years of his life involved in illegal activity in order to accumulate
enough wealth to be able to throw many parties, all for a possible chance to see his
love once lost, Daisy. In this, both Jay Gatsby and Prince Hamlet are willing to
sacrifice all that they have, not limited to themselves, in order to achieve their
unrealistic goals. In comparison, Hamlet is content with altering his life and his
current relationships, all for the sake of being closer to his ultimate goal, vengeance
for his father.
Hamlet lacks faith in G d and himself. Consequently he must define his existence in
terms of others... He would like to become what the Greek Tragic hero is, a creature
of situation. Hence his inability to act, for he can only act , i.e., play at possibilities
(Auden, W.H)
Hamlet is willing to act mad, ruining all of his relationships, not limited to his
romantic life, for a futile opportunity to get close enough to Claudius to kill him.
Although both Jay Gatsby and Prince Hamlet are willing to sacrifice all for their
aspirations, Gatsby puts on a false front, while Hamlet covers his; Gatsby pulls a
facade as though he had been wealthy throughout his entire life, while Hamlet feigns
insanity. Gatsby has attempted to pull a facade of him having always been wealthy,
thus allowing him to be part of Daisy s circle. Gatsby claims to have inherited his
vast sum, hiding that he had actually self accumulated it over the years. By

Observation Of Intersection In Cal Poly
INTRODUCTION
More and more students are being accepted into Cal Poly every year and the
campus is building more on campus housing to accommodate for this new
population of students and to encourage students to stay on campus. This increase
of students causes many problems because already the classes are impacted, the
parking lots are impacted, and the streets are impacted. According to Cal Poly s
Campus Master Plan, even more housing will be built on campus by repurposing
lands instead of expanding. If this is the case, then we would have to make the
small space we have perform more efficiently and safely to accommodate for the
future population. Therefore, the issue I would like to tackle in particular is the

Interview with Robert Bertini
I started the interview with defining the problem as an unorganized flow of traffic.
The main focus was on the safety of pedestrians. My interview with Bertini was
described all the possible traffic safety measures that can be taken at the intersection
while keeping in mind the long term plan for the intersection that will be incorporated
into the Master Plan. To describe the main components of traffic safety, Bertini uses
the three E s, engineering, enforcement, and education.
Bertini talked about how the enforcement of the intersection is already being
implemented as an attempt to keep bicyclists and drivers in check, but the
effectiveness and frequency is unknown. The next component he talks about is the
education aspect of traffic safety which involves changing the campus culture. We
can teach pedestrians to be more mindful of cars and teach bicyclists to obey the
rules of stop
Similarities Between Gary Goss Pleasantville And Blue
Velvet
While suburbia is not quite a city to be registered as a cinematic city, it has its own
specific way of life just any city does. The speciality of suburbia though, is that it
can be branded, sold and recreated in most places in America. It is the complete full
circle of the American Dream, or better yet it is the trademarked edition. The 1950 s
are thought of as the peak, or stereotypical best, the American Dream with the white
picket fence, 2.5 kids, and a hot meal waiting for you when you get home. While
this idea may be postcard or billboard perfect, it is not as perfect for everyone
involved or for the future when it looked at from under the service. Gary Ross
Pleasantville and David Lynchs Blue Velvet both explore the idea of the suburban
American Dream and that it is not as squeaky clean perfection as it seems.
Gary Ross Pleasantville is the story of two modern day children being magically
zapped into a TV Land esque show, called Pleasantville, about stereotypical perfect
1950 s life in the suburbs. Pleasantville is a town that is a vision of America in its

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
Section I
Policy Identification The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) was put under a
microscope during the summer of 2014 after the public learned that dozens of
veterans died while awaiting medical care in multiple veterans hospitals (Andrews,
2014a). After beginning an investigation, it was discovered that veterans were forced
to wait exorbitant amounts of time in order to see doctors, specialists, have tests run,
and receive other kinds of medical care (Andrews, 2014b). President Barack Obama
and Congress took quick action to investigate the claims and provide new legislation
to remedy the newfound, but long lasting problems.

He had to drive approximately 140 miles to get to his VA hospital. Upon arrival, he
described it as depressing and unprofessional. Upon further discussion, the veteran
reported that the building was extremely run down. While discussing service, he
reported that the hospital and providers were either way overbooked or
understaffed. He was also discouraged with the service he received from the
doctors. He decided to get a second opinion from his family doctor when told that
his disability payment would not be increased for a crooked vertebra in his back,
which causes him extreme pain. Mason discussed the process of making an
appointment: he recalled that he had to wait four to six weeks, to see a provider.
That is over two times the expected wait time. He reported that instead of the
suggested two week period, he had to wait four to six weeks, causing him to wonder
if he was placed on the phantom waiting list. Not only was he annoyed with the wait
time, but also the actual process of making an appointment. He reported that he had
to call three different people to make an appointment, but if one of those people were
gone, nothing would get done until they returned because there was only one person
that did that particular job (A. Mason, personal communication, September 20,
New England Colonies Similarities And Differences
The New England and Southern colonial regions have many similarities and
differences in their geography. The New England colonial region has mountains
formed by glaciers during the Ice Age. This caused the soil to very rocky and
difficult for farming. On the other hand, the Southern region had plains and rich,
fertile soil. This allowed the South to create large plantations (doc 6). Even though
they had differences, they similarly had a long Atlantic coastline. As a reso create
large plantation , the geography of the colonial regions impacted the economy and
culture of the Thirteen Colonies. The New Englandand Southern colonial regions

Two Survivors Of The Holocaust
Two Survivors of the Holocaust Don t Worry this is not one of those gross and gory
stories about the Holocaust. It is and compare and contrast of two families where
some members survived, but some unfortunately did not. The two families being
talked about are the Weismann s and the Klein s. Many Jews lives were lost during
the holocaust, but there is also many who survived such a traumatic event. These
people s stories can be so different, but also so alike at the same time and that is
what I am going to elaborate on today.
Kurt and Gerda s lives before the war before the war were very different, mostly
because of their living circumstances were so different. Before the war started Kurt
a year after his sister moved to the United States of America, and Gerda and her
family stayed in their homeland of Poland until were kicked out later on after the
World War 2 started. When Kurt first moved to America it was just him and his
sister. About a year later their brother was lucky enough to make it there as well, in
the year of 1938. September 1st 1939 Nazi invaded Poland. A short time after
Gerda s Brother Arthur was forced to leave in a Nazi transport along with other
young men in their town, and had to leave the family. Kurt got to be with his
siblings unlike Gerda, and Gerda got to be with her parents unlike Kurt. Kurt s family
had plans to all be in America together, but many things got in the way of Kurt s
parents getting there. Such as new immigration laws and getting
John Locke s Influence On Government
With the heart of a new nation beating, the blood that flows through it is the
knowledge that has created it. John Locke s influential writing is the pulmonary
vein bringing air and life into the nation. This is seasoned with the ideas of Roman
Classical Republicanism, which are the chambers that keep the nation moving
forward. Though with any heart and colonial experiences coronary arteries have a
chance to be clogged and make the nation suffer. The lead up to America s birth is of
lesser significance than the core values that created it.
John Locke s writing is influential with the creation of the government that the
United States abides by. The natural rights that he preached showed that everyone had
basic inalienable rights such as life, liberty, and property(though ratified to
happiness). As shown in the constitution in the form of the Bill of Rights, the ten

Romans used small uniform communities to elect officials as their representatives.
By abiding with these small communities members of a political community must
be fundamentally the same. A system like this is seen in America with people
dedicating their lives to different political parties such as Republicans and
Democrats. This system is purposefully made inefficient as to work through all the
problems a specific idea had. Idea s of this sort can only be created with people
working together. Only through citizenship and civic virtue could the founding
fathers system hope to work. Having people not only work but dedicate to the greater
good of the community is how a system is created. As seen in modern America,
without a majority of the populace to vote, representatives that represent the whole of
America would not exist, cracking one of the many pillars that support America. The
stressed supports fall apart even more with the introduction of the colonial
experiences and the

Abstract: In modern world, Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) has significant role in
communications. DTN s are used in various applications like military wars and
conflicts, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, terrorist attacks etc.DTN provides
environment where two nodes can only exchange data when they move into the
transmission range of each other .Due to lack of consistent connectivity in the
network. Security is main challenge in these types of networks. In this paper we have
discussed various DTN routing protocols and its variants along with security issues.
1 Introduction
DTN used in various situations like wild life tracking systems, traffic controlling
systems, military wars, terrorist attacks, earthquakes, floods, storms, hurricane, severe
volcanic eruptions, etc .These types of challenging conditions results unwarranted
delays, severe bandwidth limitations, significant node mobility, regular power outages
and frequent communication obstructions. Therefore, under such conditions wireless
networks connectivity becomes considerably irregular and the existence
Colombia Armed Conflict
One of the most important causes of armed conflict in Colombia is based on the
political structure of this country, which is the political exclusion. To understand
why, we must take into account the history of the two political parties in Colombia
that are Liberals and Conservatives, which were develop and take shape in the
middle of the XIX century formed by landowners, merchants, and warlords. Since
the beginning, the Liberal and Conservative parties counted with their own political
programs. Moreover, each one had their own vision of how the state and society
have to be role, as well as various answers to the hardships faced by the country at
that time which make violent fights with each other in the way each one wants to have

First, it is important to establish that the globalization phenomenon refer to the
capitalist model expansion around the world, based on the exchange of goods,
services and markets that specially in Colombia lead to the collapse of the national
borders and the succeeded of a deeply interdependence between countries, regions,
enterprises, and transnational actors that transform together into a single economic
system. Taking into account the specific situation in Colombia, the globalization
allow the introduced of several and different structural changes in the configuration of
the Colombian social, economic, and political relations of the state. Also allows the
free development of the capitalism, being this term one of the most significantly
impacts in the development of Colombia because of the repercussions in the way that
the economy in Colombia was changed in a different way. To explain why, it is
important to know that each country design his own system to rule the main aspects,
such as in the economyGlobalization trends materialized in the signing of integration
agreements, common market or free trade areas, widespread strategies aimed at
attracting foreign investment and creating conditions to attract the interest of large
transnational corporations, as well as the rigor macroeconomic, preservation of a
healthy fiscal balance and policies of privatization of assets and services estatales.4
turn, globalization demanded decentralization of state functions to make it more
efficient in the management of resources and to promote self sustainability of the

Emptiness In Buddhism
Emptiness in my own words from the Buddhism prospective would be like
imagining a person sitting in their secret place in the lotus position meditating with
a basket full of issues or stress triggers. As you sit there meditating with your eyes
closed, focusing on your breathing and then you would start to empty your mind of
each issue found in the basket one by one. You would continue to do this until the
basket is empty, until your mind is empty and until your soul is empty. At that
moment is when you should reach nirvana. I imaged it being this way because of
my Christian experienced, it will be the same process but instead of sitting, you will

Some refer to it as a mental state and some refer to it as purification process. It
would be like combining the emptiness level with wisdom, if I had to explain in my
own words.
In comparing and contrasting Theravada, Gelug pa, and Zen. Theravada is a school
with Mahayana Buddhism that teaches the four noble truths and it also includes the
eightfold path. Theravadins believe in and worship deities; Theravadins do not
believe in the existence of suffering and evil as a theological problem. Theravadins
teaching includes karma, good karma and bad karma as an understanding of the
Buddhist path and process of purification and perfection. Theravadins objective for
their next life is to have a good rebirth as a human or deity.
Gelug pa is a school of Tibetan Buddhism. Gelug pa is also called the Yellow Hat
sect in Tibetan Buddhism. According to the School of the Dalai Lama, The Yellow
Hats took control of the central plateau until British and Chinese incursions into Tibet
in 19th century. The Gelugpa study of logic and philosophy shamanic experience and
became the dominating force in Tibet. The Gelugpa teachings are continued mainly
through the lineage of the Dalai Lama and are still alive in many Western countries

Age Of Division
The Age of Division was a base for change in the future for China. While many
wealthy families were dividing China apart the people were looking for an answer to
unify them all. During this time China would change many aspect in its society
which would help shape the future of its culture. At the time Buddhismmade some
changes when the Great Vehicle system was introduced making Buddhism more a
religion than a way of thinking. One of the way to bring people together is religion
and that is what buddhism did. It provided a new vision to the people of China and
something to believe in. Buddhism became popular in the age of division because it
gave people something to believe in and this would make their lives feel complete
while giving them peace of mind.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is do to the fact that when Buddhism and Daoism were becoming religions
they borrowed a lot from each other. While some of the concepts may be different
they were both a refreshing way to act. Confucianism had dominated a lot before
the age of division and the people were tired of it. In Ge Hong s autobiography it
seemed that he was really laid back and didn t want to be given anything. Ge Hong
s self virtuous ruled over his actions and his story is very similar to that of the
Buddhist monks. Comparing him to Seng Baozhi, they both tried to gain
knowledge at a young age and they have a similar story of walking around in the
cold. Ge Hong says My clothes do not protect me from the cold... yet none of this
causes me worry (Source,93) while in the passage about Seng Baozhi it is said that
At one time Baozhi was walking in the cold without any upper garment (Source,
101). This shows that no matter if it was Buddhism or Daoism people were trying to
find something to believe in when the people were separated. The people may be
grouped differently but they all hold common beliefs and want to improve

  • 7. Booker T. Washington ( 1856-1915 ) Booker T. Washington (1856 1915) was a standout amongst the most persuasive (and questionable) African Americans ever. Brought up the child of a slave mother, Washington was self propelled and focused on his own training from a youthful age. The tumultuous time in America s history amid which he lived managed him new opportunities that originated from Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 and the inevitable achievement of the North in the Civil War. He took the first chance to go to a formal school, Hampton Institute, which prompted residency and the establishing of a standout amongst the most prestigious African Americaninstructive organizations of the nineteenth century, Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. Washington was seen as pleasing the norm of African American subordination on the grounds that the message of his works and addresses was that the street to accomplishment for blacks was through attaining to monetary dependability through training (primarily, professional preparing); he didn t dissent, did not challenge the political framework, did not talk about the absence of social fairness like his commentators, Frederick Douglass and W.E.B. Du Bois. Washington decided to focus on what blacks could fulfill by concentrating on learning mechanical abilities; he accepted this would help his race secure financial confidence. Washington felt the aggressor talk of Douglass and Du Bois redirected his kin from the way to success through monetary achievement. It

  • 10. Analysis Of Sweetheart Of The Song Tra Bong In Things They... Things They Carried Essay Anything can change a person if they are not ready for that change. The short story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong, in Things They Carried, by Tim O Brien represents this by showing change in Mary Anne, who is a character the reader probably would not expect to see in a book about the Vietnam War. There are many parts show the change in her from the average high school girl she used to be into a predatory killer, but there is only one reason for her change, and that is the war itself. The changes Mary Anne goes through in this story stand out very clear. In the beginning, the quote that introduces Mary Anne is, ...she was seventeen years old, fresh out of Cleveland Heights Senior High. She had long white legs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can t feel like that anywhere else (O Brien 111). Mary Anne is inevitably drawn to the other side the other side in this case being the Vietnam War itself. She is not completely part of it yet but she sure is fascinated by it, and will be part of it soon. She displays the danger of throwing away all separation between herself and the war. She is at the point where she wants to become one with the war. However towards the end of the story, Mary Ann becomes a completely different person. This can be shown perfectly in the quote, She had crossed to the other side. She was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill (O Brien 116). Going back to the Vietnam War and its effect on Mary Anne. At this point, it can be seen that Mary Anne has completely crossed over. She has a necklace of human tongues, which is crazy weird. However, Mary Anne is still wearing her culottes and her pink sweater, the very pieces of clothing that made her appear so American at the beginning of the story. The reason for Mary Anne s change is not because of the Vietnamese or even Vietnam, even though it appeared to be at the beginning. It s the war itself. The war is half Vietnamese and half American. A example that shows Mary Anne going through her change is in the quote, Mary Anne made you think about those girls back home, how clean and innocent they all are, how they ll never

These subjects consisted of 34 males and 30 females all of which were in good health and aged between 18 and 36. Confidentiality was of utmost importance and respected throughout the entire project. If any potential subjects did not wish to participate then that was understood and they did not take part. Another means of safeguarding the privacy of both groups (males and females) was to conduct the measurements at different times. One session was for males only and another for only females. The following measurements were taken body mass (kg), height (m), % body fat, 2nd digit (index finger)(mm), 4th digit (ring finger)(mm), foot (cm), waist (cm), hip (cm), BMI and then the differences between 2nd and 4th digits, waist to hip and height to foot sizes. The body mass was taken using analogue scales, the height using a stadiometer, % body fat using bio electrical impedance analysis monitor (with damp hands), 2nd and 4th digit (on the right hand) and foot (right foot) size using an accurate ruler and finally the hip using a tape measure. After the process had taken place of gathering all the required measurements we then carried out a statistical analysis which included the mean averages, the standard deviation and finally the t test using the primary data we had gathered. The software used was OpenOffice.org Calculator, this software is very similar to that of Microsoft Excel.

Pension Protection Act of 2006, P.L. 109 280, В§ 902, 102 Stat 780 (2006). These characters, such as Christian, Sofia, and various minor characters, are described and developed according to the names they have been given. One of the first characters we are introduced to is Christian (alias Issa). Both Christian s birth name and spy name have meanings that represent his character. So, rather than saying, I think, therefore I am, Montaigne seems to first ask, What is it that I think, why do I think that, and how does this get back to me? all while trying to put the pieces of his character together. Also, the simple fact remains that one cannot heighten their image or affirm their stature without first fully knowing what their image or stature is. • 32. A Short Note On Hydrogen Fuel Cell Plug This report shows a comparison between hydrogen fuel cell plug in hybrid vehicles (FCHEV) and battery (BEV) and hydrogen fuel cell (FCEV) electric vehicles. Comparing infrastructure and technology requirements along with the lifecycle cost of the drivetrain (the main components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface) over 100k miles taking fuel costs and capital costs into consideration. This can then be compared to a conventional petrol fuelled internal combustion engine (ICE) drivetrain. A comprehensive sensitivity analysis shows that FCEVs could achieve lifecycle costs similar to conventional petrol vehicles in the near future. However, both the BEV and FCHEV have significantly lower lifecycle costs. Looking forward, the drivetrain lifecycle costs of FCEVs could range from around ВЈ5000 to ВЈ15000, whereas those for BEVs range from ВЈ4300 to ВЈ7600 and FCHEVs, from just under ВЈ3000 to ВЈ8400. All vehicle platforms exhibit significant cost sensitivity to drivetrain capital cost. The BEV and FCHEV are relatively unaffected by electricity costs but the FCHEV and FCV are affected by the cost of hydrogen. The BEV and FCHEV are alike in lifecycle cost and one could offer an advantage over the other depending on driving patterns. In conclusion, the hydrogen fuel cell plug in hybrid vehicle would be the best route towards future development of the fuel cell electric vehicles. 1.Introduction Transport is one of the main contributors towards

While writing down whatever came to mind, Winston wrote the line DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER over and over again, later exclaiming how he didn t care if he was shot in the back of the neck for doing so (18). I compare to the characteristics of Winston Smith through the beliefs that define thoughtcrime. Although I do not live in a world where thinking negatively is punishable under law, Winston and I do share common ideologies. For instance, Winston and I hold comparative opinions of the word doublethink. Both Smith and I find it questionable, and don t understand how one can hold two contradictory ideas in the mind simultaneously. An example of a modern day doublethink statement is you want to fit in with others. It s not a difficult concept to grasp until you come across the contradictory statement: you should try to stand out from the crowd. Both concepts alone are applicable to anyone, but they are both simultaneously established as rules that guide the individual. Examples of doublethink in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
