The International Atomic Energy Agency
Organisational culture is a source of competitive advantage and according to education portal (2015),
organisational culture is defined as a shared system of assumptions, values and beliefs, which governs
how people behave in organisations . These shared values will influence how employees of the
organisation will perform, act and dress. Furthermore, Every organisation develops and maintains a
unique culture and this will create guidelines for how members of the organisation will behave. The
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) (2010) refers to organisational culture as an organisation
s personality . The IAEA also states that culture is not only important for keeping organisational goals,
but it appeals to attracting and keeping desirable employees which in turn improves the company s
public image and the company s cooperate relationships.
In order to further support my answer, this essay will explain and discuss the models and theories of
organisational culture. This essay will also link these models and theories to two UK based companies
to authenticate the models and theories.
Bosch (2015) is an example of a UK based company that knows the importance of organisational
culture. The company claims their corporate culture makes [them] unique and is reason for why their
associates are proud to work for Bosch. The company also claims that the culture forms a special bond
that guides actions and interactions . Bosch have created the House of Orientation for

Essay on In Vitro Fertilization
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a procedure that offers hope to couples who otherwise are unable to
conceive. This process is important to infertile couples because it gives them another chance of
conceiving a child. In order for normal pregnancy to occur, an egg is released from an ovary and
unites with a sperm in a fallopian tube. However, during the process of IVF, this union occurs in a
laboratory after both eggs and sperm have been collected. The fertilized egg is then transferred into
the uterus to continue growth. Tens of thousands of healthy children born into this world are the
results of IVF. Nevertheless, it is important for anyone considering IVF to fully understand the process
as well as its limitations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The donor is now ready for the egg retrieval process. She is asked to come in one hour prior to the
scheduled egg retrieval. The woman puts on a hospital gown while tranquilizers and antibiotics are
given through an intravenous line. The cervix is also frozen with a local anesthetic to reduce the pain
of the procedure. The doctor will attach an aspiration needle to the ultrasound probe and advance it
though the vagina into the follicles of the ovary. The follicle fluid and eggs are aspirated into a test
tube and given to a laboratory personnel to search for eggs. The woman may leave in about two hours
after the sedatives have worn off.
The In Vitro Fertilization step continues if the doctor is fortunate enough to find eggs. Soon after the
doctor locates the eggs and collects sperm, he cultures the eggs in a plastic dish. During the actual In
Vitro Fertilization process, a mature egg mixes with the proper number of collected sperm, usually
about fifty thousand sperm. The following morning, the doctor examines the eggs under a microscope.
Fertilization is evident if the sperm amp;#8217;s genetic material is seen on a small area of the egg.
After successful fertilization, the doctor transfers the pre embryos into the woman amp;#8217;s
uterine cavity. A maximum of three embryos will be transferred for women less than thirty five years

The Problem Of Suffering Is Not Limited
The problem of suffering is not limited to human society. The awareness of evils, present not only in
human society but also in the physical and biological levels, is raised among scientists and theologians
who participate in theology science dialogue. Not only animals but also plants experience sufferings
and pains to a certain extent. On the physical level, the increase of entropy according to the 2nd law of
thermodynamics is regarded as analogous to the notion of evil on the physical level. Even though the
prevalence of evil in the world raises a question as to the goodness of a god in any religion, The
problem is particularly pressing for Abrahamic faiths that insist on God s fairness, love, and goodness.
In that vein, Veli Matti Kärkkäinen appositely and acutely points out, Rampant suffering and acts of
evil in the world, both in relation to humanity (moral evil) and to nature (natural evil), constitute a
major atheistic challenge concerning the existence of God. In this paper, rather than presenting a full
scale theodicy, I engage with the problem of theodicy through careful comparative study between
Wolfhart Pannenberg s and Catherine Keller s theodical arguments in the context of their dialogue
with modern physics and biology. Pannenberg sees that theology and natural science are to be placed
in hypothetical consonance , whereas Keller takes an assimilationist approach to theology science
dialogue. The divergence of their interdisciplinary

National Intelligence Analysis
National Intelligence Analysis et al. (2010) claim that in the early 2000s, Canada s heroin market was
controlled by South and Southwest Asia, and these regions took Southeast Asia s place. Since 2004,
heroin seizures have been increasing even though heroin is allegedly one of the least commonly used
illicit drugs in Canada (NIA et al., 2010). Asian, Latin American, and West African organized crime
groups, functioning in Canada as well as in foreign countries, remained to be participants in
smuggling and transporting heroin in Canada (NIA et al., 2010). That is not to say that Canadian
organized crime groups were not participants in the heroin market; Canadian organized crime groups
took part in the heroin trade as well (NIA et al., 2010). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
National Intelligence Analysis et al. (2010) maintain that in 2009, fake versions of OxyContin and
erectile dysfunction drugs were smuggled into Canada from foreign countries, but despite that,
domestic production continued to increase. Aside from anabolic steroids and anaesthetics, the majority
of prescription drugs entering the illicit drug trade were acquired from the medical system (NIA et al.,
2010). The smuggling of prescription drugs through the Canada US border continued, although it
typically involved small amounts (NIA et al., 2010). According to National Intelligence Analysis et al.
(2010), the illicit use of oxycodone and oxycodone trafficking have increased in Canada, which is
demonstrated by an increasing amount of seizures and investigative methods, as well as in the rising
number of casualties caused by oxycodone use. The heightened amount of fake OxyContin versions in
Western and Eastern Canada suggest that criminal organizations may be becoming more involved in
the illicit trade of pharmaceutical drugs (NIA et al., 2010).
Comparisons to the marijuana market: Compared to meth and crystal meth use, rates of cannabis use
among adolescent students are typically high (Bouchard et al., 2011). In the mid to late 2000s, the
Canadian illicit drug market has generally remained stable (NIA et al., 2010). National Intelligence
Analysis et al. (2010) contend that cannabis remained to be the most popular illicit

The General Search Engine Architecture
Different search engines such as Google are complex, sophisticated, distributed systems. Below we
reproduce the general search engine architecture discussed in Searching the Web , Arvind Arasu,
Junghoo Cho, Hector Garcia Molina, Andreas Paepcke, Sriram Raghavan (Stanford University). ACM
Transactions on Internet Technology (TOIT), Volume 1, Issue 1 (August 2001).
The main components include, parallel crawlers/ and crawler control (when and where to crawl), page
repository, indexer, analysis, collection of data structures (index tables, structure, utility), and query
engine and ranking module. Such a general architecture would take a significant amount of time to
code. In this course, we implement stripped down versions of the main ... Show more content on

Besides that, there are also other difficulties as well. There might be too many relevant pages for a
simple query. Also, it is difficult to compare two search engines, because of their continuous
improvement. There are three ranking algorithm that are proposed by Yuwono and Lee. They are
Boolean spread, vector spread, and most cited. The first two are the normal ranking algorithms of the
Boolean and vector model extended to include pages pointed to by a page in the answer or pages that
point to a page in the answer. The third, most cited, is based only on the terms included in pages
having a link to pages in the answer.(Yuwono, 1996)
There are also other approaches as well. WebQuery allows visual browsing of the
Web pages. Their ranking algorithm is based on how connected each Web page is. The
Page Rank algorithm uses the equation defined below here a is the page that we want to rank PR(a) is
page rank of page a; q is the probability of the page being accessed; p1 to pn is the pages that point to
page a. C(a) is the number of out going link in page a. Google search engine uses the Page Rank
algorithm as well. It simulates users using the search engine and applies the equation to rank the Web
pages. It uses a citation graph. The graph contains 518 million links. It allows rapid calculation. 26
million Web pages can be computed in a few hours. The page has high ranking when many other
pages point to it or if some other high ranking pages point to it. (Brin, 1998)

Internet Privacy And The Internet
Imagine a world without major programs like Facebook or Microsoft office, how would we get our
candy crush reminders, or write a five page essays for an English final. Major programs like the ones I
ve stated may not have been possible without hackers. Hackers are people who gain access to
unauthorized information using a computer. I know, it sounds bad that people are gaining
unauthorized information by computer, but they actually make the internet a safer place. With the
growth of the internet comes the growth of hackers and internet privacy. New laws that would increase
internet privacy and, limit hackers would halt the internets growth and development. Since the year
2000, the internet has grown enormously we can all agree and with this growth comes a growth of
internet users. With all the internet users, online comes people trying to accuse their information by
illegal means. People are uncomfortable with the fact that people are gaining access to their
information and tracking their web usage. When conducting an interview with Ms. Rebecca LaFave
the Reference Librarian I asked her the question Do you believe it ok if the hackers/businesses track
your movement across the web ? and she replied with No. I find it extremely intrusive, at best. At
worse it s an invasion of the 14th Amendment (Lafave). People feel as if hackers are taking advantage
of them by using their information but some hackers may be helping online users. With everything,
this is a good and a

No Country For Old Men By Cormac Mccarthy

English Writing 301
Professor Tittle

Biographical Perspective of No Country for Old Men
Upon reading the book, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, readers may be shocked to
see the way it is written. Cormac McCarthy s style of writing differentiates from other famous authors.
He does not use correct punctuations such as apostrophes for contraction words and quotation marks
around dialogues or use correct sentence forms. His rhetorical mode makes it difficult for the readers
to perceive it but there is a reason as to why he writes this way. The reason why his writing style is so
different is because of the way his life influences it. Not only does his life influences his writing style,
it also influences what happens in his novels. Everything that Cormac McCarthy writes in his books
have a purpose. In order to understand McCarthy s reason for writing so differently and the themes
behind No Country for Old Men, the readers would also have to understand the writer s life and the
effect of its influences.
The novel is divided into two parts. It is divided by the different point of views. One point of view is
limited omniscient which is written normally and the other point of view is told through the first
person written in italics. This is uncommon in most novels and McCarthy did not divided it into two
different views for no reason. He used italics for the first person point of view to differentiate the point
of views and to portray who the main

Generals Die In Bed By Charles Yale Harrison
Through the soldiers experiences, the narrator shows only the dark side of human nature. Discuss.
Generals die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison is a novel where a young Canadian soldier tells of his
first hand account of the harsh and inhumane conditions in the trenches on the Western Front during
World War 1. Through his observations and experiences the Narrator shows the effects of war on
ordinary people and how they manage in extraordinarily horrific situations. Even though the brutal
nature of the war is often reflected in the violent way that combatants act towards one another there
are also moments when compassion and mercy is shown. The novel demonstrates that in extreme
situations both the dark and the good side of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However we also are shown bravery, companionship and acts of kindness as the soldiers struggle to
stay humane and sane in a hellish environment.
Throughout the novel they are compassionate and caring to even their enemies in their darkest
moments. They also illustrate the dark and unforgiving side of human nature. They show no pity or
mercy even while being pleaded too.
Throughout the novel the Narrator often shows compassion towards others in his actions eg. letting
the German soldier grieve for his dead brother letting him take a few letters and papers from his
brother s pockets and imagines how their mother would feel. He then helps the Germans to safety
behind the lines amp; asks that the prisoners be treated nicely.
Just like their constant companions the lice and the rats, the soldiers in the trench adapt to the hell that
they find themselves trapped in doing whatever it takes to survive. They even fight each other over
food at each others throats like hungry, snarling animals . As the novel amp; the war progresses so
does the inhumane side of the soldiers who become increasing more detached from killing,
unconcerned with the death of friends. The soldiers are conditioned, hardened up and desensitised
with self preservation becoming a key motivator. This is shown as the soldiers plunder the city of
Arras allies town and vandalize houses with no consideration of the local

Fluss AG Case Study
Fluss AG was established in 1947, and was the Swiss parent company of Fluss Washer and Dryer
(FWD). At the time, Fluss s biggest competitor was RiverTech, a Korean appliance company. Both
companies made a strategic decision to go green with their entire product lines because their
customers wanted energy efficient and environmentally friendly products, to save time and money,
and lastly there were government incentives to go green . In 2004, Hans Kehrer the CEO of Fluss AG,
appointed Johannes Linden as the Director of FWD; who was the former COO of Fluss s European
division. Linden was eager to drive FDW to new heights and foster a more open, collaborative, yet
aggressive culture to be able to act fast to the changing conditions of the economy. Although Linden
was known to be open to ideas and suggestions , he was also known to be impatient . When Linden
firmly believes in a course of action, he can be what I might call a smooth dictator. Very likable, very
persuasive, but very determined to get where he wants to go. Under Linden s leadership, FWD s
organizational structure changed from a geographical structured company to a product oriented
company. In 2006, Linden changed FWD s worldwide regional structure from three regions
worldwide to six regions worldwide. The worldwide regions were originally broken up into Asia, the
Americas, and Europe; but Linden wanted six regions worldwide; mature and developing Asian

What role did Imperialism play in shaping U.S. foreign policy in the late 19th and early 20th
centuries?
Prior to the late 19th century, the United States was preoccupied with domestic affairs and simply used
the Monroe Doctrine as their lone foreign policy. By the late 19th century, however, domestic
concerns suppressed just enough to let foreign issues take the spotlight. The Industrial Revolution
brought mass production, which forced the United States to seek a new global market for trade.
America also became increasingly concerned with intervening in Latin American affairs and spreading
democracy to less powerful nations. Due to the aforementioned factors, imperialism played a pivotal
role in shaping American foreign ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Intervention in Latin America, mainly Cuba, also led to the Spanish American War. When the
American naval ship, the USS Maine, exploded in the Havana Harbor, President McKinley
immediately decided to go to war after being labeled a coward by yellow journalists. This is a prime
example of how incidents in Latin American countries forced presidents to act rapidly and without
much thought, causing America to form a bold and aggressive foreign policy.
According to the United States, democracy and Christianity were principal elements of a successful
society. During the end of the eighteen hundreds and throughout the beginning of the nineteen
hundreds, America tried to colonize and reform less fortunate nations. Following a social Darwinist
point of view, Americans took their God given superiority to those who were incapable of establishing
their own self government (Doc. H). After much debate, American foreign policy towards the
Philippines and Cuba was that it is our duty to rule them until they could rule themselves. We pledged
to save the indigenous people from their savage, bloody, and corrupt ways of life. President McKinley
s foreign policy towards the Philippines stated that they would soon have anarchy and misrule...there
was nothing left to do but take them all, educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize them (Doc. A).
Imperialistic fervor was spreading more than ever during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The
United States was eager to propel itself

why the Republic became an Empire. This research will focus on the time period of 100 to 25 BC and

The Flaws of Non-Governmental Organizations in Developing...
The role of Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in the world today has been increasingly
questioned in recent literature as people begin to recognize the flaws of our development aid industry.
The article NGOs A Tainted History by Firoze Manji and Carl O Coill explores the history of the rise
of NGOs in Africa in order to demonstrate that their aim is to control and colonize Africa. Similarly,
the novel Damned Nations: Geed, Guns, Armies Aid by Samantha Nutt emphasizes the patriarchal
tendencies of the aid industry and the influences of the political objectives of donor countries with
descriptions of her first hand experiences on the field. With the articles Challenging Indifference to
Extreme Poverty: Considering Southern Perspectives on Global Citizenship and Change by Barbara
Heron and International NGOs and the Aid Industry: constraints on international Solidarity by Molly
Kane in mind, I considered the effects and roles of NGOs as development organizations and
instruments of change. Whereas the compilation of stories in Generation NGO, edited by Alisha Apale
and Valerie Stam, recollected individual experiences of development workers, highlighting the moral
and ethical challenges they faced day to day. Analysis of the abovementioned readings allowed me to
conclude that NGOs are destructive in the developing countries in which they are situated because
they impose colonialist influences, are biased towards their political supporters, are ineffective when

The Inequality Of Gender Inequality
PIED2721
End of Semester Essay
Student Number 200823400
Word Count:
Which types of feminism can best account for the persistence of gender inequality? Include discussion
of at least two different types of feminism.
Introduction
It would be foolish to say that gender inequality is not a continuing problem in today s society.
However it is difficult to understand why this view is so persistent. This is due to the great variety of
issues and the large number of competing and often contradictory theories that surround the study of
gender inequality. In this essay three competing theories will be discussed, namely liberal feminism,
radical feminism and postmodern feminism.
By looking at why each theory believes gender inequality exists, and then looking at the key thinkers
and the evidence that they put forward, this essay will give an opinion on which of the theories best
explains the persistence of gender inequality. Each theory will be critiqued by at least one of the other
branches of feminism and then the ability of the theory to account for persistent gender inequality will
be assessed.
Not every issue that the 3 theories see as causes for persisting gender inequality will be assessed, but
instead the essay will focus on the issues that some of the most prominent scholars in each of the three
fields believe are the key problems. All the forms of feminism that are being discussed in this essay

Themes Of Huckleberry Finn
The following paper will briefly show arguments, and conclusions within the writings of Mark Twain
s story Huckleberry Finn. I will discuss the various themes that Mark Twain is bringing to light within
his story. This paper will show how Mark Twain uses those themes within the story, and how they are
specifically used. I will also briefly discuss the life of Samuel Clemons, the author known as Mark
Twain, and give the reasoning behind choosing the name of Mark Twain when writing his novels.
Themes of escapism will be discussed.
To fully understand the themes within Mark Twain s novels we all must first understand his
upbringing, where he was born, where he was raised, and what was going on within the era of his life.

The meaning of Mark Twain refers to checking the water with a line. This second mark on the line
signified two fathoms, which measured twelve feet, it meant that it was a safe depth for the steamboat
to travel (Caron, 2011). The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has a great deal to do with many
stereotypes, of what society at that time believed people to be. The character of Huckleberry Finn had
a great deal of turmoil, and conflict while trying to understand if he should trust what he was taught to
believe, or rather if he should instead go with what his heart was telling him to do. This moral conflict
that he kept having with himself continues throughout the entirety of the story.
Early into the story of Huckleberry Finn, we learn that his father is the town drunk, Mark Twain uses
this to help paint a picture that Huckleberry Finn is a wild out of control young child. This helps in a
way for the readers to envision that it is only normal that Huckleberry Finn is going to be getting into
many mischievous acts. Without the proper role model of a stable Christian father, it becomes only
natural that readers would be able to expect Huckleberry Finn to not act appropriately within the
context of this story (Schinkel, 2011). Being that Huckleberry Finn s father is the town drunk, later
learning his plots of stealing gold,

Glacier Ice Research Paper
Glaciers and Desserts Exercise
The difference between an ice sheet and a glacier; an ice sheet or continental glaciers is a chunk of
glacier ice that is the largest and the thickest type of glacier that can be almost unbelievable. They are
massive and can cover large islands and the land surrounding it as it can be greater than 50,000
kilometers wide. If melted, they contain enough water to raise sea level about 66m (216 ft.). Glaciers
are smaller and move on average, a little slower but have remarkable ability to carry a huge volume of
water in a stream. A glacier ice forms, where the depth of the snow increases, as the snow
accumulation exceeds, a deep snowpack forms as it is compressed into ice under great pressure it then
begins to flow down the mountain. When the glacier gets to a point where the melting begins the rate
of accumulation dwindles and stops.

The lack of rain that controls the high pressure as this results in rising the air at the equator and then
eventually sinking back and forming a high pressure system which leads in very little precipitation.

water can be held and that side of the mountain gets rain. The cooler the air that crosses over
mountains is dry, so deserts form on the other side of the mountain range.
3). Rain shadow effect is when moist air rises against high elevations of land and drops water along
the way. This creates a region on the far side of the mountain range that is relatively deficient in
precipitation to the point of forming a rain shadow desert.
4). Cold ocean currents is because cold water evaporates at a much slower rate than warm water by
forming fewer clouds with much less precipitation.

The Importance Of An Integral Workforce Within The United...
The importance of an integral workforce within the United States economy came forth due to the
influences brought forth by the might of industrialization. To ensure the integrity and productivity,
companies across the United States adapted different techniques to promote stability within the
workforce. Techniques, such as having a child workforce, encouraging low pay rates, and prolonged
work hours, started to be questioned by the majority of the workforce. Controversy began to spark
around the idea that companies were ensuring the stability of the workforce merely for profit gain.
Workforces started to unionize in order to combat the foundations of the controversial techniques.
Success came too with the passage of the Fair Labor Standard Act of 1938. The Fair Labor Standard
Act abolished the child workforce, established a minimum hourly wage, and declared the 40 hour
work week. Seth D. Harris, author of Conceptions of Fairness and the Fair Labor Standard Act ,
proclaimed that the passage of the act was the creation of a statue that is beneficial to the less powerful
at the expense of the more powerful (2000). The foundation of the FLSA gave the working class a
legal tool which could be used against companies oppression. This paper will discuss how the Fair
Standards and Labor Act provided legal fortitude to the decision affirmed in Tyson Foods, Inc. v.

Analysis Of Purple Hibiscus
Does Kambili s change in environment reflect on her character, from the beginning to the end of the
book? In Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie she uses Kambili, the narrator to tell her life
story. In Purple Hibiscus the narrator, Kambili starts by being shy and detached because she went from
Papa s house which was an unhealthy abusive home to Aunt Ifeoma s home, which was a freely and
happy home; by the end, Kambili was open to people and was a compassionate person.
In Purple Hibiscus the narrator, Kambili starts by being shy and detached . Purple Hibiscus is as book
that details life through Kambili s eyes. Throughout the story, Adichie shows how Kambili was shy
around most people and was also detached from other people. I wanted to talk with them, to laugh
with them so much that I would start to jump up and down in one place the way they did but my lips
held stubbornly together. I did not want to stutter, so I started to cough and then ran out and into the
toilet (Adichie. 141) Adichie shows how Kambili isn t too comfortable around other people. Kambili
struggles with fearing she ll say the wrong thing and embarrass herself. See how well your Papa
Nnukwu is doing...He has been sitting up so long for Amaka to paint him. It s a miracle. Our Lady is
faithful ( Adichie.166) Adichie uses this conversation to show that Kambili is detached from Papa
Nnukwu. Kambili has heard all the time from Papa that Papa Nnukwu is a heathen, just because he s a
traditionalist. Kambili s heard it so much that she believes it, so that affected her relationship with
him.
Papa s home was an unhealthy abusive home, in contrast from Aunty Ifeoma s freely, happy home.
Purple Hibiscus is a book that details life through Kambili s eyes. Throughout the book, Adichie
shows that Papa s home was very unhealthy for Kambili and that Aunty s home was freely and happy
for Kambili. Of course, you can stay up as long as you want afterward to watch TV or whatever else

Army Vs. Military Army
Another change occurred, in that armies changed from being mercenary based to kingdoms
establishing their own standing armies. As a result, professional soldiers emerged which only
continued to elevate the common soldier s status in society. This occurred for a few reasons. Before
arquebuses, a state maintaining a standing army was incredibly dangerous and expensive to handle. A
standing army under a commander was mechanically difficult to manage while standing bowmen, as
stated before, required constant training to be effective. Granted, it was possible that a standing army
could be stronger than a mercenary based army, but most countries did not want to take the continual
drain on their resources. The French had developed a standing army merely out of necessity for
themselves due to the Hundred Years War. However, with arquebuses, states could have the benefits of
a standing army, but without technically having one. Once initially trained, Arquebuses could reside in
their local communities until the kingdom called them. With this, Commanders now had to hold a
better appreciation of these communities since that is where their troops came from instead of
Condottieri having to recruit their mercenary armies individually. As the effectiveness of arquebuses
continued to grow during the Italian Wars, they expectedly caught the attention of the philosophers of
the time whose works pushed these new cultural attitudes toward the common soldier. Perhaps one of

The Importance Of Free Speech In Higher Education
American society identifies itself as a society where freedom and equal opportunity for learning and
expressing new ideas are abundant and unthwarted. The free speech principle, or the principle that all
speech and ideas should be able to move freely without being impeded on by government or an
institution, is a principle American society has taken many steps to solidify and safeguard. Despite our
best efforts, differentiating ideas and free speech continue to be segregated in favor of popular opinion
especially in higher education. Often times, students along with public speakers and professors are
silenced on campus because of conflict with the public s sentiment. This obstruction of the basic
American value of free speech in higher education comes with a detrimental cost to liberal education
and the free flow of ideas.
Liberal education (the idea that education should promote all ideas or beliefs) is designed for students
to explore the vastness of the world and its many ideas. Generally students who explore new fields
and majors through education feel a desire to promote these newfound ideas, especially if it involves
politics, on their college campus. Whether it be through a group, a club, or a form of media, students
have the ability to spread mass amounts of information and ideas to both open and unopened minds.
But even with the Constitutional right that protects these students ability to showcase new and
different ideas, this right is often times impeded on

The Modernization Of The United States
Understandably, significant historical debate flourishes around any relative or ambiguous terminology;
therefore, it should be of no surprise the topic of the modernization of the United States garners little
consensus. While some historians see elements of modernity in the widespread political participation
of the initial decades of colonial settlement, others focus on the economic and demographic diversity
of the eighteenth century as their focal point. Contrasting historians insist the American Revolution
became the catalyst for permanent change, while still more contend westward expansion and the
conclusion of the Civil War mark the time of the United States arrival. The innate relativism of
modernity insures from the outset of debate that no one will be right, and that no one can be wrong.
One historian s vision of modern will inherently be distinct from the next. However, as futile as the
debate over the beginnings of modernity may be, readers can still gain much from such research.
In 1973, just one year after Brown s Modernization article was published, Murrin co authored an
article with Rowland Berthoff titled Feudalism, Communalism, and the Yeoman Freeholder: The
American Revolution Considered as a Social Accident. Although Brown is not included in the
citations the two article s descriptions of mid eighteenth century colonial society are remarkably
similar. Murrin and Berthoff conclude ...the century from 1725 to 1825 was far from static. The

How The And Start Right From The Beginning Here Essay
I m going to try and start right from the beginning here. When we think of data communication
nowadays, we think of digital information. We live in a world where technology is so abundant, that
we couldn t possibly imagine what life would be like without it. I m not talking about having to write
letters, or use the telephone exchange, I m talking about the beginning. Before there was data
communication, there was simply communication. So much about our evolution is unknown, that we
can t simply piece together the entire history of communication, but we as humans today do have a
brief understanding of how our species learnt to communicate, and how this has shaped our world
today. One of the first methods of communication (besides verbal) was paintings. Painting (or drawing
in general) is one of the earliest methods of communication, and is still very prominent to this day.
The act of turning thoughts or ideas into a physical representation develops in humans at a very young
age, and is the main form of communication used by babies up until they can speak. In my person
opinion, painting isn t a the best form of communication today, as writing is far easier to understand.
Painting is useful if you wish to convey your ideas through the use of metaphors, but the practicality
of using it today as a direct method of communication is limited. The next big advancement in
communication was the development of writing. Writing was developed in two stages. The first forms
of writing were

Forging A New Vision Of America s Melting Pot
Forging a New Vision of America s Melting Pot In Forging a New Vision of America s Melting Pot by
Gregory Rodriguez the author expresses support for a heavy Mexican influence in the United States
and integration of races. The author made some points about how legislatures have tried to stop
Mexicans from entering the country and have repeatedly tried to keep them down as second class
citizens. It seems that he wants Mexicans to have more influence in mainstream media, but I feel as if
he s pushing it too strong. I m all for equality, but it seems that he wants Hispanics to take a very large
piece of the pie. I prefer an equal amount of the pie for all. It seems that the issue the author is stating
about discrimination and legislative action against Hispanics comes from issues stemming from the
old days. He mentions the Nineteen twenties Texas representative John C. Box and his controversial
views on immigration of Mexicans, but then he states a strong support in the Nineteen nineties and
their Latino issues are American issues mantra. I see why some people may be worried that Mexicans
are taking over, because they may lose a little of their culture. Although change isn t always bad, we
cannot just barge in and force a change. America is a diverse country and we have a piece of the whole
world here, so for one social group to complain and want their influence to be on a grand scale is just
preposterous. We all need to share this melting pot of stew. Do We

Persuasive Essay On Invasive Plants
How easy is it to take care of a plant; pretty simple right? Just give the plant water and sunlight and it
will most likely grow. How about at goldfish? Get a tank, fill it with some water, add the goldfish and
make sure to feed it every once in a while. It takes a bit more work but still relatively easy. How about
having to take care of a reptile, like an iguana? They are much more difficult to take care of. They also
have many more needs including a heat lamp, special diet, forested cage, and they do not like to be
handled. When someone no longer wants these pets, they may be tempted to release them in the wild
and when this happens it can have devastating effects. When any of the species mentioned above are
released into the wild where they are not native, they have a chance to become an invasive species.
According to the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area or CISMA, invasive species are
nonnative plants or animals that cause harm to the environment, economy, or human health (CISMA,
2017). Invasive species are normally brought to a new area by people who want to own exotic pets or
have plants that will survive in extreme weather. When the conditions are favorable to the species it
can survive much better than the native species. If the species happens to find a mate to reproduce, it
can grow in population rapidly. One example of this is the rabbit population on the island of
Macquarie where the population went from 20,000 to 130,000 in just six

What happens to the human body after death? What dictates the beginning of death? Why do human
bodies decompose? These are all questions that have led to the study of the decomposition of the
human body, along with the need for identifying the time of death for forensic reasons.
The heart ceasing to pump blood throughout the body, marks the beginning of death. Four minutes
after death, decomposition begins4. There are four main stages of decomposition: stage one is referred
to as fresh or autolysis, stage two is bloat or putrefaction, stage three includes putrefaction and
carnivores and is referred to as decay4. The final stage is dry and includes diagenesis4. These stages

The first proteins to be destroyed are usually the neuronal and epithelial tissue proteins, which include
the lining membrane of the gastro intestinal tract5. The epidermis, reticulum, collagen, and muscle

breakdown of these proteins is aided by physical or microbial damage5. Proteins will break down into
polypeptides, amino acids, peptones, and proteoses5. The sulfur containing amino acids will further be

Then in late 1939 Charlie joined back up with McShann and moved back to Harlem, where Charlie

Parker would eventually need a break from New York City and decided to travel to California where

An Analysis Of Henley s Essay Invictus
Life is challenging for everyone. We will all face its difficulties eventually; whether it be something
financial, like paying bills, something physical, like a bodily injury, or something emotional, like the
loss of a loved one. Billions of people go through these struggles every day, maybe even you are going
through something similar. Because of this, it is important for everyone to stay strong, despite the
difficulties of life; because whether we like it or not, bad things will continue to happen, and
collapsing under that pressure is no good for anyone. In William Ernest Henley s poem Invictus, the
narrator, who is very likely the author, tells us that through all of life s difficulties, we must remain
dignified, stand tall, and keep moving forward. The reason the narrator of the poem is very likely the
author is because, during the time that Henley wrote this poem, he was going through some
difficulties in his own life. According to the Merriam Webster s Encyclopedia of Literature, Henley
was hospitalized for tuberculosis to the bone, which forced doctors to amputate both of his feet. This

The Importance Of Sustainable Development On The Environment
Over the course of the past few decades, humans have truly started to understand and study issues that
threaten our environment in great depth. Modern environmental sustainability is defined as the link
between the health of nature and society, population growth, distribution of wealth and the combined
approach to development, equity and conservation not new to social and environmental policy (Oiamo
23). The definition of sustainability has transformed over time along with our knowledge and
continually evolving understanding of the word. Sustainable development is a process that goes hand
in hand with sustainability, however the definition is widely deliberated. Nonetheless, the most
accepted definition was coined from the Brundtland Report in 1987 is development that meets the
needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs (Oiamo 28).
Succinctly, sustainable development is only using the essentials needed to preserve ourselves as of
right now, and nothing more. What lead to this present day concept of environmentalism and
sustainability were economic, environmental and social shifts prior to the 1970s.These are known as
the three pillars of sustainability and were contrived by environmentalists such as Ebenezer Howard
and Rachel Carson.
The major event that caused organizations, such as the World Conservation Strategy to develop the
three pillar concept was the industrial revolution and the effects it had on the world. One

Special care was taken by all of us to ensure we did not have a prankster amongst us so we made sure
to ascertain that the occurrences were confirmed by more than one person and that they had happened
more than one time to different people. Often we would hear the horn on my bicycle give a blast at
different times of the day. Something or someone had to squeeze the rubber bulb to force the air
through the reed on that horn! During a small dinner party hosted by the professor, the pictures on the
wall shifted on their nails, and there was no vibration on the floors from music, dancing, or any kind
of enthusiastic activity! More than one person experienced someone answer a phone call to the

Outside Influence On The Hawaii
Outside Influences Negatively Impact Hawaii Widely known as paradise , Hawaii is a desired place to
live and vacation. Families, couples, and individuals come to take part in the temperate weather and
beautiful beaches. However, Hawaii now is nothing like it use to be the real history behind this
popular chain of islands is rarely told to visitors. Back in early Hawaiian times, Hawaii was self
sufficient, independent, and gorgeous all around. The number of Native Hawaiians flourished, and
everyone helped contribute to the community. All that changed, however, when outsiders began to
settle here in Hawaii. Although the different outside influences may have brought some positivity to
Hawaii, the negative side of their arrival overwhelmingly defeats it.
Upon his expedition on January 18, 1778, English explorer Captain Cook was the first European to
discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore the
Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O ahu and Kaua i. Native Hawaiians did not
perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred high chief or
god ( Captain Cook para 1). However, they were not fully aware of the effects of his arrival.
According to Peter Pirie, a Professor of Geography at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, ...the two
Cook visits refer to the problem of venereal diseases among the crews... [to] their transmission from
the newcomers to the Hawaiian population (75).

Christianity And The Rise Of Christianity Essay
Christianity in the 21st century is the largest religion in the world and has over two billion followers.
Christians classify themselves under 34,000 different denominations. This popular religion is all about
the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When a religion is born so is a holy book to remember
it by. The bible is considered the word of God and is known for its infamous stories and sayings. The
Bible contains rules and righteous acts to live by. Many question as to how Christianity spread and to
what extent did Jesus Christ and his apostles go through in order to gain followers. A major reason for
the spread of Christianity was because people seeked comfort in the promise of the afterlife and found
the need to preform charitable deeds euphoric. Jesus Christ founded Christianity which later on began
to spread its meaning around the Roman Empire by his apostles. Jesus Christ was also born a Jew in
about 7 B.C and almost all of his followers at that time were Jews as well. Jesus Christ also observed
the Jewish faith and was very well experienced with the Jewish law. Jesus Christ s mission was made
to spread the word of God to mankind. As converts to Christianity increased, the religion as well
began to spread. This all began somewhat 2000 years ago in what is now Israel but was at that time,
Judea. Christianity was quite linked to Judaism; they both shared similar rules and meanings to what
the religions held. The emperor of Rome was Nero, who was famously

Fodo Vs The Hobbit
Director Peter Jackson, screenwriters Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, and J.R.R. Tolkien made a
fantastic movie adaptation from the book The Fellowship of the Ring. The major actors include: Elijah
Wood, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Sean Astin and many more. The movie is about a Hobbit that
ends up with a powerful ring, with a terrible influence by the dark lord Sauron. Frodo, the hobbit, is
the only one who is not strongly persuaded by the ring to do evil and bring back Sauron. However, he
could not do it alone, so Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Gandalf, Boromir of Gondor, Legolas of the
Woodland Realm, and Gimli of the Dwarves went with him.
The whole movie revolves around the journey to destroy said ring at Mount Doom, where it was
created.

Budgeting and Compliance Issues in Healthcare
Budgeting and Compliance Budgeting and compliance issues are very important to healthcare.
Budgeting ensures the quality of care given to patients, what technologies the hospital has available,
and how staff gets paid, determining raises and benefits. Waste of time and supplies are damaging to
the budget. Compliance issues are what determine the standards of care given to patients. They also
set standards for safety of both patients and staff. Non compliance can cause fines for the facility and
loss of accreditation, which in turn causes losses of reimbursements from Medicare, Medicaid, and
insurance. Safety issues can cause people to get hurt and, in turn, cause lawsuits for individuals and
the organization. The cost of lawsuits and employee injuries can be very damaging to a budget.
Healthcare workers also stand the chance of consequences in noncompliance issues. Fines, legal
consequences, termination, and lose of professional licenses can occur. Both operational and capital
budgets are made up by the CFO, Chief Financial Officer, and approved by the CEO, Chief Executive
Officer, and the Board of Directors. (Operational Review of the Health Care Corporation of St Johns,
2002) The operational budget is based on projected costs, such as staff, supplies, administration, and
technology costs, and projected revenue from patient services and investments. They are usually made
up for the organization s fiscal year. The capital budget is a long term budget that is based on

The Dispute Play
An event that I went to this past week was the second theater show of TAMUC called, The Dispute
.The play was based on french literature playwright from Pierre de Carlet de Chamblain Marivaux.
The play started showing on Tuesday of last week and ended on Sunday. I attended the show on
Friday, and it was really interesting to the aspects of man and women that the play showed.
The play did not really have a purpose to it. It was just an event that people came for the enjoyment of
theater. Students, Staff and also people from the community attended this event seeing the stereotypes
that the play showed for men and women. The stage showed a quite countryside park that was based
on the year 2035 but was not futuristic at all, it was just a countryside

The International Atomic Energy Agency Organisational culture is a source of competitive advantage and according to education portal (2015), organisational culture is defined as a shared system of assumptions, values and beliefs, which governs how people behave in organisations . These shared values will influence how employees of the organisation will perform, act and dress. Furthermore, Every organisation develops and maintains a unique culture and this will create guidelines for how members of the organisation will behave. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) (2010) refers to organisational culture as an organisation s personality . The IAEA also states that culture is not only important for keeping organisational goals, but it appeals to attracting and keeping desirable employees which in turn improves the company s public image and the company s cooperate relationships. In order to further support my answer, this essay will explain and discuss the models and theories of organisational culture. This essay will also link these models and theories to two UK based companies to authenticate the models and theories. • 3. Essay on In Vitro Fertilization In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a procedure that offers hope to couples who otherwise are unable to conceive. This process is important to infertile couples because it gives them another chance of conceiving a child. In order for normal pregnancy to occur, an egg is released from an ovary and unites with a sperm in a fallopian tube. However, during the process of IVF, this union occurs in a laboratory after both eggs and sperm have been collected. The fertilized egg is then transferred into the uterus to continue growth. Tens of thousands of healthy children born into this world are the results of IVF. Nevertheless, it is important for anyone considering IVF to fully understand the process as well as its limitations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The donor is now ready for the egg retrieval process. She is asked to come in one hour prior to the scheduled egg retrieval. The woman puts on a hospital gown while tranquilizers and antibiotics are given through an intravenous line. The cervix is also frozen with a local anesthetic to reduce the pain of the procedure. The doctor will attach an aspiration needle to the ultrasound probe and advance it though the vagina into the follicles of the ovary. The follicle fluid and eggs are aspirated into a test tube and given to a laboratory personnel to search for eggs. The woman may leave in about two hours after the sedatives have worn off. The In Vitro Fertilization step continues if the doctor is fortunate enough to find eggs. Soon after the doctor locates the eggs and collects sperm, he cultures the eggs in a plastic dish. During the actual In Vitro Fertilization process, a mature egg mixes with the proper number of collected sperm, usually about fifty thousand sperm. The following morning, the doctor examines the eggs under a microscope. Fertilization is evident if the sperm amp;#8217;s genetic material is seen on a small area of the egg. After successful fertilization, the doctor transfers the pre embryos into the woman amp;#8217;s uterine cavity. • 4. The Problem Of Suffering Is Not Limited The problem of suffering is not limited to human society. The awareness of evils, present not only in human society but also in the physical and biological levels, is raised among scientists and theologians who participate in theology science dialogue. Not only animals but also plants experience sufferings and pains to a certain extent. On the physical level, the increase of entropy according to the 2nd law of thermodynamics is regarded as analogous to the notion of evil on the physical level. Even though the prevalence of evil in the world raises a question as to the goodness of a god in any religion, The problem is particularly pressing for Abrahamic faiths that insist on God s fairness, love, and goodness. In that vein, Veli Matti Kärkkäinen appositely and acutely points out, Rampant suffering and acts of evil in the world, both in relation to humanity (moral evil) and to nature (natural evil), constitute a major atheistic challenge concerning the existence of God. In this paper, rather than presenting a full scale theodicy, I engage with the problem of theodicy through careful comparative study between Wolfhart Pannenberg s and Catherine Keller s theodical arguments in the context of their dialogue with modern physics and biology. Pannenberg sees that theology and natural science are to be placed in hypothetical consonance , whereas Keller takes an assimilationist approach to theology science dialogue. The divergence of their interdisciplinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since 2004, heroin seizures have been increasing even though heroin is allegedly one of the least commonly used illicit drugs in Canada (NIA et al., 2010). Asian, Latin American, and West African organized crime groups, functioning in Canada as well as in foreign countries, remained to be participants in smuggling and transporting heroin in Canada (NIA et al., 2010). The smuggling of prescription drugs through the Canada US border continued, although it typically involved small amounts (NIA et al., 2010). According to National Intelligence Analysis et al. The heightened amount of fake OxyContin versions in Western and Eastern Canada suggest that criminal organizations may be becoming more involved in the illicit trade of pharmaceutical drugs (NIA et al., 2010). Also, it is difficult to compare two search engines, because of their continuous improvement. There are three ranking algorithm that are proposed by Yuwono and Lee. They are Boolean spread, vector spread, and most cited. The first two are the normal ranking algorithms of the Boolean and vector model extended to include pages pointed to by a page in the answer or pages that point to a page in the answer. The third, most cited, is based only on the terms included in pages having a link to pages in the answer.(Yuwono, 1996) There are also other approaches as well. Internet Privacy And The Internet Imagine a world without major programs like Facebook or Microsoft office, how would we get our candy crush reminders, or write a five page essays for an English final. Major programs like the ones I ve stated may not have been possible without hackers. Hackers are people who gain access to unauthorized information using a computer. I know, it sounds bad that people are gaining unauthorized information by computer, but they actually make the internet a safer place. With the growth of the internet comes the growth of hackers and internet privacy. New laws that would increase internet privacy and, limit hackers would halt the internets growth and development. Since the year 2000, the internet has grown enormously we can all agree and with this growth comes a growth of internet users. With all the internet users, online comes people trying to accuse their information by illegal means. People are uncomfortable with the fact that people are gaining access to their information and tracking their web usage. When conducting an interview with Ms. Rebecca LaFave the Reference Librarian I asked her the question Do you believe it ok if the hackers/businesses track your movement across the web ? and she replied with No. I find it extremely intrusive, at best. • 8. No Country For Old Men By Cormac Mccarthy Hieu Nguyen English Writing 301 Professor Tittle 27 July 2015 Biographical Perspective of No Country for Old Men Upon reading the book, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, readers may be shocked to see the way it is written. Cormac McCarthy s style of writing differentiates from other famous authors. He does not use correct punctuations such as apostrophes for contraction words and quotation marks around dialogues or use correct sentence forms. His rhetorical mode makes it difficult for the readers to perceive it but there is a reason as to why he writes this way. The reason why his writing style is so different is because of the way his life influences it. Not only does his life influences his writing style, it also influences what happens in his novels. Everything that Cormac McCarthy writes in his books have a purpose. In order to understand McCarthy s reason for writing so differently and the themes behind No Country for Old Men, the readers would also have to understand the writer s life and the effect of its influences. The novel is divided into two parts. It is divided by the different point of views. One point of view is limited omniscient which is written normally and the other point of view is told through the first person written in italics. This is uncommon in most novels and McCarthy did not divided it into two different views for no reason. Generals die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison is a novel where a young Canadian soldier tells of his first hand account of the harsh and inhumane conditions in the trenches on the Western Front during World War 1. Through his observations and experiences the Narrator shows the effects of war on ordinary people and how they manage in extraordinarily horrific situations. Prior to the late 19th century, the United States was preoccupied with domestic affairs and simply used the Monroe Doctrine as their lone foreign policy. By the late 19th century, however, domestic concerns suppressed just enough to let foreign issues take the spotlight. The Industrial Revolution brought mass production, which forced the United States to seek a new global market for trade. Intervention in Latin America, mainly Cuba, also led to the Spanish American War. When the American naval ship, the USS Maine, exploded in the Havana Harbor, President McKinley immediately decided to go to war after being labeled a coward by yellow journalists. According to the United States, democracy and Christianity were principal elements of a successful society. During the end of the eighteen hundreds and throughout the beginning of the nineteen hundreds, America tried to colonize and reform less fortunate nations. Following a social Darwinist point of view, Americans took their God given superiority to those who were incapable of establishing their own self government (Doc. H). Include discussion of at least two different types of feminism. Introduction It would be foolish to say that gender inequality is not a continuing problem in today s society. However it is difficult to understand why this view is so persistent. This is due to the great variety of issues and the large number of competing and often contradictory theories that surround the study of gender inequality. In this essay three competing theories will be discussed, namely liberal feminism, radical feminism and postmodern feminism. By looking at why each theory believes gender inequality exists, and then looking at the key thinkers and the evidence that they put forward, this essay will give an opinion on which of the theories best explains the persistence of gender inequality. Each theory will be critiqued by at least one of the other branches of feminism and then the ability of the theory to account for persistent gender inequality will be assessed. Not every issue that the 3 theories see as causes for persisting gender inequality will be assessed, but instead the essay will focus on the issues that some of the most prominent scholars in each of the three fields believe are the key problems. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has a great deal to do with many stereotypes, of what society at that time believed people to be. The character of Huckleberry Finn had a great deal of turmoil, and conflict while trying to understand if he should trust what he was taught to believe, or rather if he should instead go with what his heart was telling him to do. This moral conflict that he kept having with himself continues throughout the entirety of the story. Early into the story of Huckleberry Finn, we learn that his father is the town drunk, Mark Twain uses this to help paint a picture that Huckleberry Finn is a wild out of control young child. This helps in a way for the readers to envision that it is only normal that Huckleberry Finn is going to be getting into many mischievous acts. Without the proper role model of a stable Christian father, it becomes only natural that readers would be able to expect Huckleberry Finn to not act appropriately within the context of this story (Schinkel, 2011). To ensure the integrity and productivity, companies across the United States adapted different techniques to promote stability within the workforce. Techniques, such as having a child workforce, encouraging low pay rates, and prolonged work hours, started to be questioned by the majority of the workforce. • 26. Army Vs. Military Army Another change occurred, in that armies changed from being mercenary based to kingdoms establishing their own standing armies. As a result, professional soldiers emerged which only continued to elevate the common soldier s status in society. This occurred for a few reasons. Before arquebuses, a state maintaining a standing army was incredibly dangerous and expensive to handle. A standing army under a commander was mechanically difficult to manage while standing bowmen, as stated before, required constant training to be effective. Granted, it was possible that a standing army could be stronger than a mercenary based army, but most countries did not want to take the continual drain on their resources. The French had developed a standing army merely out of necessity for themselves due to the Hundred Years War. However, with arquebuses, states could have the benefits of a standing army, but without technically having one. Once initially trained, Arquebuses could reside in their local communities until the kingdom called them. With this, Commanders now had to hold a better appreciation of these communities since that is where their troops came from instead of Condottieri having to recruit their mercenary armies individually. As the effectiveness of arquebuses continued to grow during the Italian Wars, they expectedly caught the attention of the philosophers of the time whose works pushed these new cultural attitudes toward the common soldier. The free speech principle, or the principle that all speech and ideas should be able to move freely without being impeded on by government or an institution, is a principle American society has taken many steps to solidify and safeguard. Despite our best efforts, differentiating ideas and free speech continue to be segregated in favor of popular opinion especially in higher education. • 28. The Modernization Of The United States Understandably, significant historical debate flourishes around any relative or ambiguous terminology; therefore, it should be of no surprise the topic of the modernization of the United States garners little consensus. While some historians see elements of modernity in the widespread political participation of the initial decades of colonial settlement, others focus on the economic and demographic diversity of the eighteenth century as their focal point. Contrasting historians insist the American Revolution became the catalyst for permanent change, while still more contend westward expansion and the conclusion of the Civil War mark the time of the United States arrival. The innate relativism of modernity insures from the outset of debate that no one will be right, and that no one can be wrong. One historian s vision of modern will inherently be distinct from the next. However, as futile as the debate over the beginnings of modernity may be, readers can still gain much from such research. We live in a world where technology is so abundant, that we couldn t possibly imagine what life would be like without it. I m not talking about having to write letters, or use the telephone exchange, I m talking about the beginning. Before there was data communication, there was simply communication. So much about our evolution is unknown, that we can t simply piece together the entire history of communication, but we as humans today do have a brief understanding of how our species learnt to communicate, and how this has shaped our world today. One of the first methods of communication (besides verbal) was paintings. Painting (or drawing in general) is one of the earliest methods of communication, and is still very prominent to this day. The act of turning thoughts or ideas into a physical representation develops in humans at a very young age, and is the main form of communication used by babies up until they can speak. In my person opinion, painting isn t a the best form of communication today, as writing is far easier to understand. Painting is useful if you wish to convey your ideas through the use of metaphors, but the practicality of using it today as a direct method of communication is limited. The next big advancement in communication was the development of writing. Writing was developed in two stages. The first forms of writing were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It seems that he wants Mexicans to have more influence in mainstream media, but I feel as if he s pushing it too strong. I m all for equality, but it seems that he wants Hispanics to take a very large piece of the pie. I prefer an equal amount of the pie for all. It seems that the issue the author is stating about discrimination and legislative action against Hispanics comes from issues stemming from the old days. He mentions the Nineteen twenties Texas representative John C. Box and his controversial views on immigration of Mexicans, but then he states a strong support in the Nineteen nineties and their Latino issues are American issues mantra. I see why some people may be worried that Mexicans are taking over, because they may lose a little of their culture. Although change isn t always bad, we cannot just barge in and force a change. America is a diverse country and we have a piece of the whole world here, so for one social group to complain and want their influence to be on a grand scale is just preposterous. We all need to share this melting pot of stew. Do We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Persuasive Essay On Invasive Plants How easy is it to take care of a plant; pretty simple right? Just give the plant water and sunlight and it will most likely grow. How about at goldfish? Get a tank, fill it with some water, add the goldfish and make sure to feed it every once in a while. It takes a bit more work but still relatively easy. How about having to take care of a reptile, like an iguana? They are much more difficult to take care of. They also have many more needs including a heat lamp, special diet, forested cage, and they do not like to be handled. When someone no longer wants these pets, they may be tempted to release them in the wild and when this happens it can have devastating effects. When any of the species mentioned above are released into the wild where they are not native, they have a chance to become an invasive species. According to the Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area or CISMA, invasive species are nonnative plants or animals that cause harm to the environment, economy, or human health (CISMA, 2017). Invasive species are normally brought to a new area by people who want to own exotic pets or have plants that will survive in extreme weather. When the conditions are favorable to the species it can survive much better than the native species. If the species happens to find a mate to reproduce, it can grow in population rapidly. One example of this is the rabbit population on the island of Macquarie where the population went from 20,000 to 130,000 in just six ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are all questions that have led to the study of the decomposition of the human body, along with the need for identifying the time of death for forensic reasons. The heart ceasing to pump blood throughout the body, marks the beginning of death. Four minutes after death, decomposition begins4. There are four main stages of decomposition: stage one is referred to as fresh or autolysis, stage two is bloat or putrefaction, stage three includes putrefaction and carnivores and is referred to as decay4. The final stage is dry and includes diagenesis4. These stages can happen simultaneously and it is possible for a stage to be skipped4. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first proteins to be destroyed are usually the neuronal and epithelial tissue proteins, which include the lining membrane of the gastro intestinal tract5. The epidermis, reticulum, collagen, and muscle protein are more resistant5. The keratin is in insoluble fibrous protein and is resistant to attack by most proteolytic enzymes5. This is due to the disulfide bonds between the cysteine structures5. The breakdown of these proteins is aided by physical or microbial damage5. Proteins will break down into polypeptides, amino acids, peptones, and proteoses5. The sulfur containing amino acids will further be decomposed and yield sulfide products5. Under anaerobic conditions, the product is not further transformed, but under aerobic conditions, it will disappear and become oxidized to sulfate through a series of steps5. When proteins undergo proteolysis, most of the soil microbes use the amino acids for energy, except for nitrogen5. Nitrogen is converted to ammonia through multiple reactions5. This ammonia can be used by plants or microbes, or converted to nitrate and move into the groundwater system5. We sat at Blue Eagle Lounge at about 11:00 pm and he peered over my left shoulder. He stared a little longer and then he ran. How? What have I done? Why do I ruin every single good thing in my life? But then I remembered. I have done something terrible. Something that I will never forgive myself for. Earlier that day. The man I had known but never had a conversation with, came over my way. He had on baggy jeans with zippers at the pockets and lace up boots he wore underneath his loosely fitted jeans. He had a t shirt on with a flannel over the top. His brown eyes told a story. He had a voice that gave me a warm tingly feeling when he would simply say my name. He made me happy and I know that this was a real happiness that would last a long time. The freckles on his nose were direct mirrors to all of the stories he had. Stories of trips that made his family stronger and his heart a little bigger. He was tall and had brown hair that was always perfect. He made me smile and I knew he did not feel the same about me. I was falling for him and he wasn t there to catch me when I landed. But there was something fishy about this boy, he had a secret, and I was dying to know what it was. We will all face its difficulties eventually; whether it be something financial, like paying bills, something physical, like a bodily injury, or something emotional, like the loss of a loved one. Billions of people go through these struggles every day, maybe even you are going through something similar. Because of this, it is important for everyone to stay strong, despite the difficulties of life; because whether we like it or not, bad things will continue to happen, and collapsing under that pressure is no good for anyone. In William Ernest Henley s poem Invictus, the narrator, who is very likely the author, tells us that through all of life s difficulties, we must remain dignified, stand tall, and keep moving forward. The reason the narrator of the poem is very likely the author is because, during the time that Henley wrote this poem, he was going through some difficulties in his own life. The Importance Of Sustainable Development On The Environment Over the course of the past few decades, humans have truly started to understand and study issues that threaten our environment in great depth. Modern environmental sustainability is defined as the link between the health of nature and society, population growth, distribution of wealth and the combined approach to development, equity and conservation not new to social and environmental policy (Oiamo 23). The definition of sustainability has transformed over time along with our knowledge and continually evolving understanding of the word. Sustainable development is a process that goes hand in hand with sustainability, however the definition is widely deliberated. Nonetheless, the most accepted definition was coined from the Brundtland Report in 1987 is development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs (Oiamo 28). Succinctly, sustainable development is only using the essentials needed to preserve ourselves as of right now, and nothing more. What lead to this present day concept of environmentalism and sustainability were economic, environmental and social shifts prior to the 1970s.These are known as the three pillars of sustainability and were contrived by environmentalists such as Ebenezer Howard and Rachel Carson. The major event that caused organizations, such as the World Conservation Strategy to develop the three pillar concept was the industrial revolution and the effects it had on the world. One ... Over the years, we have lived in a variety of old homes that embody the history of many families and diverse activities. Among those homes was an old three story English style rooming house in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that was owned by the Anglican Theological College of Emmanuel and St. Chad. Shirley and I had a flat on the third floor with four single girls living above us and a single eligible theological professor/Priest below us! Not only were the upper floors busy but we also had a presence living in the basement that from time to time would enter into our community life. Special care was taken by all of us to ensure we did not have a prankster amongst us so we made sure to ascertain that the occurrences were confirmed by more than one person and that they had happened more than one time to different people. Often we would hear the horn on my bicycle give a blast at different times of the day. Something or someone had to squeeze the rubber bulb to force the air through the reed on that horn! Families, couples, and individuals come to take part in the temperate weather and beautiful beaches. However, Hawaii now is nothing like it use to be the real history behind this popular chain of islands is rarely told to visitors. Back in early Hawaiian times, Hawaii was self sufficient, independent, and gorgeous all around. The number of Native Hawaiians flourished, and everyone helped contribute to the community. All that changed, however, when outsiders began to settle here in Hawaii. Although the different outside influences may have brought some positivity to Hawaii, the negative side of their arrival overwhelmingly defeats it. Upon his expedition on January 18, 1778, English explorer Captain Cook was the first European to discover the Hawaiian Islands. While commanding the Resolution and Discovery to explore the Northwest Passage, Cook and his crew stumbled upon O ahu and Kaua i. Native Hawaiians did not perceive these British sailors as a threat, and in fact Greeted [Captain Cook] as a sacred high chief or god ( Captain Cook para 1). The Bible contains rules and righteous acts to live by. Many question as to how Christianity spread and to what extent did Jesus Christ and his apostles go through in order to gain followers. A major reason for the spread of Christianity was because people seeked comfort in the promise of the afterlife and found the need to preform charitable deeds euphoric. Jesus Christ founded Christianity which later on began to spread its meaning around the Roman Empire by his apostles. Jesus Christ was also born a Jew in about 7 B.C and almost all of his followers at that time were Jews as well. Jesus Christ also observed the Jewish faith and was very well experienced with the Jewish law. Jesus Christ s mission was made to spread the word of God to mankind. As converts to Christianity increased, the religion as well began to spread. This all began somewhat 2000 years ago in what is now Israel but was at that time, Judea.
