Mother Courage And Eilif
Fate is a perplexing topic for even when an outcome is known there is no way of perceiving how it
will come about. In Ancient Greece, the plays were written about well known tales of heroes and the
playwright would warn the audience about fate. More modern plays incorporate the idea of fate in a
similar fashion to the Ancient Greeks with a contemporary flair. The morbid, ugly universe that is war
desecrates the greatest of human virtues (bravery, honesty, kindness, etc.) in Bertolt Brecht s Mother
Courage and Her Children. Eilif, Mother Courage s brave son, joins the army, much to his mother s
dismay, which is when she decides to tell her children s fortunes. She tells her children that their
virtues will be the end of them; nonetheless, they do not attempt to change their fortunes. Sure
enough, Eilif is persecuted for stealing a cow during a break in the war (this behavior that was
considered brave during the war). Swiss Cheese, the honest son, is shot for trying to return a stolen
cash box. Kattrin is shot while warning a town of an impending invasion. Mother Courage warned her
children to be wary of their virtues, but none of them could change their ways or their destinies. In this
way, Brecht emphasizes the disillusionment of war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indiana The Hoosier Research Paper
Indiana the Hoosiers
When people think of Indiana most just think about corn and that is true. Indiana is a state that is all
about farming and festivals and the social interaction of the people. When people are out in Indiana
one simply smiles and says hello even if they do not normally know one another. This is just a normal
occurrence in most parts of Indiana. If people go to another state, things may be much different.
People in other states may not hold doors open for one another and it is not considered rude. Whereas
in Indiana, if there is someone walking 30 feet behind, better hold that door open for them or that is
considered highly rude. Just like any large group of people living among each other, Indiana has a vast

Gluten Hearing Loss
Gluten Free and Hearing Loss You may have heard of the term, gluten, the binding agent found in
many grains, especially wheat. Gluten acts like a glue and helps food maintain their shape. Gluten is
comprised of two main proteins, gliadin and glutenin, and can be found in grains such as durum,
barley, kamut, rye, spelt, farro, and wheat. In addition, gluten is added to all sorts of processed foods,
including pastries, cookies, condiments, ice cream, cakes, beer, as well as cereals. Due to this, it is
imperative for those who are looking to avoid gluten products, to look at the list of ingredients on
packaged foods. Nowadays, gluten is a controversial topic, with many individuals on each side of the
fence. While there is a debate about the dangers of gluten, many people tolerate gluten. However,
there are individuals who have a sensitivity to gluten and cannot process it without having negative
effects. For individuals who suffer from certain health conditions, such ... Show more content on

Gluten can cause a temporary reduction in hearing and can cause a decrease in tinnitus, as well as ear
congestion in individuals who are gluten sensitive. Histamine levels that rise after the ingestion of
gluten can affect the soft tissues in your ears, and can lead to swelling. Swelling in the ears causes
congestion, which can lead to fluid buildup within the ear and can cause temporary hearing loss. In
addition, a recent study was published in the journal, Laryngoscope, which identifies the connection
between Meniere s and wheat. Here is the abstract from the study: While a gluten free diet is not
required by everyone, for those who are gluten intolerant staying away from the gliadin and glutenin

Hvac Refinancing Case
The city is currently looking at two projects costing in excess of $4,000,000 each that will require
financing. The first project is the HVAC improvements at the James J. Eagan (JJE) Civic Center which
are estimated to cost $4,000,000. The second project is the renovation of the former Dick Weber
Bowling Lanes to accommodate municipal court and police functions which is estimated at
$4,600,000. To facilitate the financing of these two projects the city has engaged the services of
Michelle Bock, Managing Director with Piper Jaffray and Co., to act as a Financial Advisor (FA) to
the city as it relates to the financing of the aforementioned projects. Ms. Bock has extensive
experience in municipal financings. She was involved in the city s 2011 Certificates of Participation
(COPS) refinancing. As an FA engaged by the city Ms. Bock has a fiduciary duty to act in the best
interests of the city and will assist throughout the process. A number of issues are involved in
determining the best structure for these two projects. These include determining whether it would be
best to combine the projects into one for purposes of financing, to do separate financings, determining
the appropriate term for the financing, and reviewing various placement options. ... Show more

Truth Of Civilization
Lord of the Flies by William Golding includes many truths of society, including how one s authority
can influence the way people live. The most important truth Golding was trying to explain, was that a
civilized society such as the boys living on the island can alter greatly to savagery. The boys
experience pain, fear, and betrayment while being stranded on the island. Golding discusses the truth
of civilization by describing the way the boys live on the island similar to The Giver and The Hunger
Games.

Partisan Groups In The Holocaust
When someone mentions the Holocaust, the image that come to the minds of most people is that of the
starving Jews in concentration camps. Most people automatically think of the horrors that the Jews
went through, while some may even wonder how something as horrible as the Holocaust could have
been done. Not many people stop to think about how the Jews resisted. Jews resisted in small acts
almost every day. Whether it was something as small as praying or as large as blowing up a supply
train, Jews were able to block the Nazis from completely wiping out the Jewish culture. One particular
group of Jews who resisted were the partisans. The partisans were armed groups formed to fight

One partisan unit in Vilina derailed hundreds of supply trains, killing over three thousand Germans in
the process and making it more difficult for the Germans to fight in the war (USHMM). The partisans
often attacked military outposts and other strategic locations, such as power plants and factories, to
make it harder to make supplies for the war effort, but they never attacked civilians (JPEF). In most
cases, the partisans had the upper hand. They attacked at night when the Nazis were least expecting an
attack and the least amount of people would be hurt, and they knew the lay of the land better than the,
in many cases, foreign Germans (JPEF). Additionally, when the partisans could get information inside
of the Nazi labor camps, Jews on the inside would purposely sabotage weapons that they were
building for the Germans (JPEF). With these small attacks, partisan units were able to limit the
participation of the Nazis in the war, and decrease the damage that they were doing to the Jewish

Historical Perspectives Of The Treatment Of Cardiac...
HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE TREATMENT OF CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA
INTRODUCTION:
The contraction and relaxation of the heart is represented in the form of electrical signals in
electrocardiogram. Normally the depolarisation of SA node present in the right atrium of the heart is
helpful in determining the heart rate of a person. SA node i.e. the sino atrial node is called the natural
pacemaker of the heart. The electrical signal produced by the SA node starts the first beat, it causes the
atria to contract and then these signals arrive AV node which allows ventricles to contract causing the
blood to flow throughout the body. The normal rate at which heart beats is 60 to 100 beats per minute.
Any changes in this rhythm cause cardiac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tilt Table Test: The heart rate and blood pressure is measured while lying on the table and then the
table is tilted and doctor monitors the heart activity.
Electrophysiological testing and mapping: Electrodes are placed in the heart and mapping of the
electrical signals within the heart is done. (Scott C. Litin, October 6 2009)
TREATMENT:
For bradycardia generally an artificial pacemaker is used which implanted near your heart so when the
heart slows down or stops pacemaker generates impulses in order to stimulate the heart.
For tachycardia generally a pacemaker is used which emits impulses for the normal functioning of the
heart. In this condition implantable cardioverter defibrillator is also used.
It is recommended only when the patient is at high risk. When there occurs sudden cardiac arrest then
this implantable device sends low or high impulses to reset the heart so as to beat in normal rhythm.
Many surgical procedures like maze procedure in which doctors make an incision in the cardiac
tissues and thus they does not conduct electricity and which results in lowering down of the heart rate,
another surgical procedure involved is cardiac bypass surgery, this is performed when there are many
other coronary artery problems other than arrhythmia. Minor tachycardia can also be controlled by
medication. (Scott C. Litin,

Rise Of Christianity Essay
Christianity began way back when during the reign of Tiberius, lasting from 14 C.E to 37 C.E. During
this time, a man by the name of Jesus began his teachings and Christianity was born. It was a religion
created by the mass number of followers that Jesus procured through his teachings, the people who
held onto every single of his words. During this time, there was much war and many civil wars
throughout the Roman Empire which had erupted into mass chaos. Zealots were encouraging armed
rebellion and it was then that Christians, or self proclaimed people of this new belief or religion,
believed in what they deemed the Messiah, who according to text, would destroy Roman legions and
bring times of happiness to the world around them (McKay, 168). Paganism was another type of
religion that began around this time as well, for the people who practiced religions outside the well
received Judaism and Christianity. What would be known as synchronistic religions blended together
both Roman and indigenous deities. Statues, temples, and monuments were all built or constructed due
to this belief and there was an ideal that existed in which there was believed to be life after death
(McKay, 168). Jesus played a vital role to Christianity during this time, especially where the Roman
Empire was concerned. According to text, he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would evolve into how we see Christianity today. Another man, Paul of Tarsus, played a very
important role in the finding and developing of Christianity. As Paul felt a part of both the Romans
and the Jews, he would write letters of advice to all of those who came to him. The Roman Empire
could spread its belief and power quickly. The empire in their minds was also universal and so
Christians combined the ideas of Universalism (McKay,

I address the problem, and how I see and want to find ways to fix it more than ever.
Growing up I ve heard many reasons why people are homeless. One is that they didn t have enough
money to support themselves, because they spent it on wants, and not necessities like, drugs, and
alcohol. Another is that a person is mentally challenged, and doesn t have the capacity, or skills to
function in, the real world and can t support themselves, and end up on the streets. They also don t
have a support system, or the means to find assistants, and their only option may be, to end up on the
streets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

viewpoints debating the question of his overall aim. With interpretations of his aims ranging from
such lofted goals as curing the human condition, to bringing about a new objective and universal

I Interviewed A Former Babysitter Of Mine
For this assignment, I interviewed a former babysitter of mine, DL. DL is 25 years old and is deaf. She
has a hearing aid and a cochlear implant. I reached out to her on Facebook and asked her if I could
interview her for the assignment; I sent her the list of questions and she sent the answers back to me.
She does not remember noticing that she couldn t hear; her guess is that her hearing loss was from
birth and very gradual, so she never noticed and thought it was normal as a kid. Her parents noticed
something was off by the age of 3 she had a severe language delay, didn t do well with verbal

She thinks the most helpful thing a person has said to her about her hearing loss came from her
resource teacher (who was also part of the DHOH program). She says, I was writing an autobiography

gently corrected me and told me that I now had severe to profound hearing loss and was considered
Deaf. It was the first time someone explained the level of my hearing loss (even though it was in
simplistic terms) and it proved to be a catalyst for my Deaf identity today.
DL got her first hearing aid at 5. Her father put in the hearing aids every day when she was young
until she was assigned a teacher to help her practice putting in the hearing aids. The teacher was a
DHOH specialist who pulled her out of class weekly to practice how to use the hearing aid, changing
batteries, and lip reading skills. She was considered a better candidate for hearing aids since she had a
mild hearing loss when she was younger and not deemed a good fit for surgical intervention since
hearing aids was the least invasive procedure for hearing.
Eventually, DL decided to get a cochlear implant. She started to realize that her hearing loss was
progressive; she went from a mild hearing loss at 33 dB to severe to profound hearing loss at 95 dB.
At that time she had mostly

The Prehistory Of Home
In the book The Prehistory of Home Jerry Moore discusses the importance that home structures have
had for humans over time in different places of the world. He says that In addition to their basic and
fundamental function of providing shelter from natural elements, dwellings are powerful and complex
concentrates of human existence... our dwellings reflect and shape our lives (Moore, 3). He believes
that homes are representations of the existence of individual humans as well as their surroundings.
Jerry Moore is successful in explaining the importance of home in archaeology throughout history
with colorful examples as well as a comparison of the importance of the home in the past to the
importance of the home in the future. Moore sees the home as a reflection of the self as well as a
mirror image of one s surroundings. His goal is to describe the importance of archaeology in history of
home by critiquing the writing of an illuminated history and that by exploring the homes of people in
the past we can see the pas from a different perspective (Moore, 9). He says that, archaeology is the
only way those ancient lives can be recovered and added to the consultable record of what it means to
be human (Moore, 10). He also wants to abandon the notion of time as linear and wants it to be seen
as a continuum instead. He believes the the goal of understanding the past intersects with the
continuing human domestic project (Moore, 11). Another goal of the book is to survey the ways

John Stuart Mill on Individual Liberty Essay
John Stuart Mill on Individual Liberty
Definition of Individual liberty
In his work On Liberty, Mill placed much emphasis on individual liberty and its vital role in political
society. To Mill, this phrase may be defined as the liberty of the individual to be the final judge over
his actions; to decide what is right and wrong and to act upon that standard. On a secondary level, it
also implies one s freedom to pursue one s own individuality. Mill believed in a society in which each
individual leads his own distinctive life according to his own unique talents; unfettered by regulations
upon thought, opinion, actions etc.
However, Mill asserts an important caveat; that which he calls `the very simple principle . He writes,
`That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Value of Individual Liberty
Indeed, Mill asserted that the cultivation of one s individuality should be the goal of human existence.
He wrote On Liberty as an argument against repressive laws which inhibit voluntary association and
suppress original ideas and ways of thinking, in a bid to protect the freedom of the individual from
stifling social conventions, oppressive legal controls and censorship. What is the value of individual
liberty that calls for it to be defended so fervently by Mill?
Individual Liberty and Truth
Firstly, Mill believes that individual liberty is instrumental in the attainment of truth. No one can claim
an infallibility of knowledge or a definite truth. Falsehoods are often sprinkled with specks of truth;
and truth may exists as half truths held by different people, and it is only through controversy that the
truth in the parts can be unified into a larger canvas of the ultimate truth. If one s actions were to be
censored completely, society would lose those specks of truth amongst the falsehoods, which would
be disadvantageous to society.
Furthermore, truth is very often not derived from the masses, but from the ideas of a select few. If
these people are silenced by repressive laws or mass opinion, society will be deprived of a chance to

Life Lessons Learned
What s a lesson you have learned in your life? Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson
in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the
only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn t possible. I
can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I
find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did
something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will fail, and they will. The
truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this, and you just need to
accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Bible has taught me many things. One
of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD S word is flawless;
he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this.
One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read
after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. It was a little bit after 10 o clock,
and Mr. Porter had given us a break. I was by myself sitting in the grass near the backstop on the west
side of the field. I was having a bad day, being told I was worthless, so I took my Bible outside and
opened my Bible to a random place and started reading. I smelled the grass and felt it under me. The
warm May air hugged me like a comforting parent. The grass was slightly wet and the book was
heavy in my my hands, the design on the front cover was cool under my fingertips. My fuzzy jacket
and sweatpants against my waist and legs. I heard the kids playing around me and the wind whistling
through my ears. The pages are thin in my hands as I open to a random place and start reading, seeing
only the words. I hear a whistle blown by Mr. Porter, and stand up, feeling the familiar tingle when my
legs have fallen asleep.

The Economic, Economic And Economic Value Of Biodiversity
According to the National Geographic, a recent scientific study predicts that our planet is home to 8.7
million species; however, only about 1.2 million species are known (86 Percent of Earth s Species Still
Unknown?). The National Wildlife Federation defines biodiversity as, the variety of life (What is
Biodiversity?). It can be studied on a small scale, for example, species, or a larger scale such as
genetics and ecology. In order to fully understand the biodiversity of a certain species, it s imperative
to understand both their genes and environment, as well. Although many people do not recognize the
various species within our ecosystem as important, they are the main reason life is sustainable.
Biodiversity has extreme fundamental value to a healthy life and ecosystem. It is the framework upon
which we rely for our needs and well being. It provides us with food resources, such as fruits and
grains, as well as meat, fish, and milk products. Humans are dependent on biodiversity for cultural,
economic and environmental stability. For example, farmers rely on bees to pollinate their crops,
which allows for a greater supply of food and work. The economic value of biodiversity stems from
its production of many everyday essentials such as food supplies, medicine, and raw materials. A
healthy ecosystem can provide us with a source of clean water, fresh food, and clean air (Value of
Biodiversity). A healthy ecosystem can also withstand disasters and recover sooner. These are

Characters Of The Teacher In The Movie Stand And Deliver
Have you ever had someone who has greatly inspired you to be successful? In the movie Stand and
Deliver, the teacher, Jaime Escalante, teaches math to his students at Garfield High School. In his
class, there are gang members and some of students that drop out of school. Some of his students are
not paying attention in class when he first teaches. He wants all his students to pass the math class. He
tries to help them do better on an exam and succeed to be able to graduate. He believes that his
students could learn if they have motivations. In the movies Stand and Deliver, Jaime Escalante

For example, when she said the word process and I did not know what it meant, she drew an image

taught me how to write nice, neat essays. Since I was a slow learner, I seemed that she seriously
wanted me to pass the class with a grade of A or B because she knew I took a hard time learning new
lessons. These were the things she helped me to pass the class because to get out of ELD. Secondly,
another similarity they share is Escalante wants his students to have confidence in themselves and
Mrs. Aguirre told me to do my best by keeping trying. According to the movie Stand and Deliver,
Escalante states, ......Parenthesis means multiply. Every time you see this, you multiply. A negative
times a negative equals a positive. A negative times a negative equals a positive. Say it!A negative
times a negative equals a positive. Say it!. It seems like Escalante wants the students to say it out loud
with confidence, so they can remember what the problem is. When Escalante writes negative two plus
two equal on the chalkboard, he asks one of his students to say the answer to see if she or he knows
the answer. For example, he asks Angel to answer what is negative two plus two equal. Angel does not
answer, so Escalante makes him say the answer. It was similar to me when Mrs. Aguirre asked me to

How Architecture Is The Most Effect Of People Thinking...
1. Introduction
Architecture is a mutual creation of works and the ideas are not only for personal, but it is also
represented the spirit and national character in this age. Therefore , it is the most basic demand of
human and society that provide important security and improve the style of human life.
It is not a pure Art nor pure engineering, the building is satisfied of function demand, via structure and
construction way as well as reached the form of an artificial shape. But,how do we understand
Architecture? What is the most effect of people thinking about it?
Exactly as Tadao Ando says that understanding the architecture, which is not through the media, the
architectural space is felt through by people sensorial experience though that it is more important than
anything else.In one building, it roots in the terroir and the culture of life, strongly remind in people s
minds by employing with five senses what we see, hear, touch, smell and taste. It includes the
geographical and cultural historical context from the macro elements of spirit to the personal life
experience, even the impression of unobtrusive plants and trees as well as minor elements of memory
are given.
For this reason, the essay concludes the main focus part of the poetics of space to demonstrate the
phenomenology of architecture which is related to space, material, light and shadow that sway on the
human senses by case study of Tadao Ando work, Church on Water.

Ancient Mayan Research Paper
The ancient Mayan civilization was highly advanced for its time. It was responsible for many
advances in astronomy, written language, and agriculture. The Mayans also had a very developed
system of social hierarchy. They were considered the most advanced civilization in the New World for
the way they were able to use the surrounding geography to their advantage. By analyzing the
environment of the Mayan world and its effect on the economic, social, and political aspects of this
mighty culture, the reader can conclude that the ancient Mayans were today s equivalent of a major
world power. To begin, the economy of ancient Mayan culture was based largely around geography.

The Immigration And Customs Enforcement Essay
ICE stands for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, they deal with matters concerning border
control, customs, trade and immigration to insure public safety and homeland security. Their priorities
focus on preventing terrorism and the illegal movement of items, as well as people. Within ICE, there
are three subgroups that fall into specialized tasks for the agency, such as Homeland security
investigations (HSI) and the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Although being a fairly
new agency there has been more than a few controversies on how ICE handles the illegal immigrants,
however, since 9/11 the U.S has been trying to find the most effective ways to stop terrorism. So, that
also means that not everyone would agree with the tactics that ICE used to solve the problem for those
specific cases.
The U.S has been known as the land of opportunities, so of course people from all over the world
would try to leave their countries that weren t thriving economically after World War I, this lead to
immigration into the US to rise significantly. Every year, the State Department issued a limited
number of visas; only those immigrants who had obtained them and could present valid visas were
permitted entry. Because of the limited number of visas, the number of illegal attempts into the
country began to occur. The Border Patrol was established when illegal aliens and entries started
becoming more frequent, the strict guidelines also causing deportation to go on as well.

Essay on Revenge in Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedy
Revenge in Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedy
Thomas Kyd s The Spanish Tragedy (c. 1587) is generally considered the first of the English
Renaissance revenge plays. A rich genre that includes, among others, Hamlet. These plays tend to be
soaked in blood and steeped in madness. The genre is not original to the period, deriving from a
revival of interest in the revenge tragedies of the Roman playwright Seneca. Nor is it exclusive to the
past, as anyone who has seen the Death Wish or Lethal Weapon films can attest. The revenge play
satisfied a deep longing in its audience for simple black and white rough justice that seems to be
universal. (Watson, 317)
While the brutal quest for vengeance drives Kyd s play, justice is ultimately its ... Show more content

The murder of Horatio in the arbor is abhorrent and terrible, but it is also quizzical. He is hanged and
stabbed by Lorenzo, Balthazar, Pedringano, and Serberine. It seems that stabbing him would be not
only sufficient but more expedient to the killers than what must be the arduous task of subduing him
and hauling him up on the tree branch, a curious way to kill a man unless one considers that Lorenzo
and Balthazar are making a point. Horatio is the son of Hieronimo, the Knight Marshal, functionally a
civil servant; Lorenzo is the son of the
Duke of Castile, and Balthazar the Prince of Portugal. Early on in the play, the King of Spain notes the
difference in portfolio:
But nephew, thou shalt have the prince in guard, For thine estate best fitteth such a guest: Horatio s
house were small for all his train. (I.ii. 185 7)
Once the conspirators discover that Horatio is Bel imperia s suitor, Balthazar comments, Ambitious
villain, how his boldness grows! (II. ii. 41) Horatio had earned the enmity of both of these men,
Balthazar by subduing him in battle, and Lorenzo by contesting his claim to Balthazar s capture.
These reasons, coupled with Balthazar s desire for Bel imperia, drive them to murder Horatio, but they
hang him for the crime of reaching beyond his station. Bel imperia pleads for his life, claiming that
she bore him no love, to which

Examples of Machiavellian Leaders
Arguably, the most Machiavellian leader to ever exist would be Joseph Stalin. He abided by three
major Machiavellian methods that were stated in the Prince: the ends justifies the means, crush any
opposition, and displaying a false character. Stalin had a plan for Russia and did everything in his
power to achieve that plan. He wanted to transform Russia into a industrial superpower, a military
superpower, and a political superpower. To achieve his goals he committed many horrible crimes
against humanity. To be more specific, Stalin killed more than sixty million people during his reign.
He was a selfish cold blooded, heart less, and evil leader; human life was nothing to him. What caused
him to develop such evil traits? It all started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This strategy disposed Stalin of any political opposition, which helped him sustain his power. Another
major method that Stalin used to maintain his power was the use of propaganda to portray himself as a
benevolent father figure. While at the same time he was committing mass murder. In Ukraine alone he
killed ten million people in only two years! Many historians agree that Stalin killed over sixty million
people. Why did he kill so much people? This can be traced back to Machiavelli s The Prince. As
discussed before, The Prince teaches that a ruler should have the fear of the people. Stalin slaughtered
so many people to prevent any opposition to his reign. He eliminated all the strong people, both the
intellectual and physical; therefore the few left would be too afraid and too weak, physically and
mentally, to resist. Stalin did exactly what Machiavelli stated in the Prince, which was also stated
above, And here it has to be noted that men must be either pampered or crushed, because they can get
revenge fore small injuries but not fore grievous ones. Stalin stated Death is the solution to all
problems. No man no problem. , Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs. , and I trust no one, not even
myself. As it can be clearly seen, Joseph Stalin epitomises most of Machiavelli s beliefs that are stated
in The Prince. Therefore, Stalin can be consider Machiavelli s ideal prince. Finally, the last example of

Limewater Test Lab Report
1. Limewater Test: As we exhaled CO2 in the limewater solution, the CO2 reacted with Ca(OH)2 and
changed the clear colorless limewater solution to precipitated white solution. The precipitation was
caused due to the calcium in the limewater solution. It took us 5 attempts to turn the clear colorless
limewater solution to a milky white solution. 2. Phenolphthalein Indicator Test: As phenolphthalein
indicator was added to NaOH and H2O solution, it made the solution turn clear pink. The
phenolphthalein indicator detects the presence of the base in the solution by changing the color of the
solution from clear colorless to clear pink. As we exhaled into the pink solution, the CO2 reacted with

Phenolphthalein Indicator Test: CO2 (g) + H2O(l) H2CO3(aq) H2CO3(aq) + 2NaOH(aq)
Na2CO3(aq) + 2H2O(l) How would the results of both tests be affected if you performed the tests
immediately after vigorously exercising for several minutes? Explain. Performing vigorous exercise
requires a high demand of energy in order to be accomplished, the body adapts to this change by
increasing the rate of aerobic cellular respiration which would produce more energy to meet the needs.
As a result there would be much more carbon dioxide being exhaled from the body as it is one of the
waste products produced during aerobic cellular respiration. CO2 is specifically formed during the
Pyruvate oxidation and Kreb Cycle stage of the cellular respiration. To exemplify during pyruvate
oxidation one of the steps is a decarboxylation reaction in which the carboxyl group of pyruvate is
removed to from CO2. Overall for one glucose molecule two molecules of CO2 is released during
pyruvate oxidation as glycolysis yields two pyruvate molecules. Furthermore the Krebs Cycle also
produces CO2 molecules during the oxidation of isocitrate which produces a ketoglutarate. Another
CO2 molecule is also produced during the oxidation of a ketoglutarate. This reaction produces the
molecule succinyl CoA. As a result two CO2 molecules are produced for one acetyl CoA. These
points exemplify how the increase rate of cellular respiration would increase the rate of CO2 being
exhaled. In connection to the lab investigation this would speed up the rate of reactions as there would
be a much higher concentration of CO2 being exhaled compared to when the body is at rest. As a
result this would increase the amount of product being produced because of the increase of CO2 in the
reaction. Due to which the lab experiment would occur at a higher rate and it would be faster as

Current And Projected Healthcare Applications Of 3d...
Introduction
Three dimensional (3D) printing, also known as rapid prototyping (RP) and additive manufacturing
(AM), is a transformational technology that is anticipated to revolutionize the healthcare industry.
Current and projected healthcare applications of 3D printing include: customized prosthetics;
personalized surgical implants; drug delivery, pre operative and educational anatomical models; and
tissue and organ engineering. The implications of 3D printing are expected to be considerable and
include benefits such as: improved efficiency and reduced costs; personalized medicine; and increased
collaboration . The implementation of this technology does not come without significant challenges,
however. The healthcare industry is one of the most regulated in the Unites States, hype can contribute
to idealized expectations, biocompatible materials must be identified, and intellectual property may be
difficult to protect as a result of 3D printing. This article reviews current advances in 3D printing and

The story begins in 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan to defend a puppet dictator
against rebels. Many men from the Middle East traveled to fight alongside the rebels as they see it as a

Soviet withdrawal in 1989, the rebels went home, at this time Osama bin Laden forms Al Qaeda while
Abu Musab Al Zarqawi forms his own group. Bin Laden grew Al Qaeda to be a global force while
Zarqawi s organization dwindled. They later returned to Afghanistan which was under Taliban control

Many of the symbols Isis has adopted are those of Prophet Muhammed. One of the symbols Isis has
adopted is the monochrome flag. The flag is often called the Black Banner or Black Standard
(Porzucki). It is believed that one of the Prophet s war banners was monochrome. The Black Banner is
an ancient tradition in Eastern, Arabic and Islamic culture. In the Middle East, colors have important
meanings. To some believers, the colors do not only represent the jihad or the caliphate, but it
represents the final battle at the Day of Judgement (Prusher). Additionally, the calligraphy on the flag
represents great importance. The calligraphy evokes images of the Prophet as well as images of the
ancient caliphate (Porzucki). At the top of the flag, the calligraphy reads, There is no god but Allah.
Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. This text is known as the Shahada. Across Islam, the Shahada
is used as a declaration of faith. Another symbol they have adopted is represented by the white circle.
The text inside the circle also reads Muhammed is the messenger of Allah. Some people believe that
this is supposed to symbolize the Prophet s official seal. The use of Prophet Muhammed s symbols
creates a sense of endorsement of Isis s action. The symbols on the flag were strategically chosen to
evoke the faith of muslims and the image of their goal of the

Porter s Five Forces
Five Forces Analysis
Michael Porter s Five Forces Analysis is a framework that used for industry analysis and understand
the level of competition in an industry in order to develop business strategy (Tang, 2014). There are
two key players in the local malt liquor market (MLM) industry of Malaysia, GAB Berhad and CBMB
who have occupied 95% of the total beer and stout market shares in Malaysia (CMBB, 2015).
Therefore, the competition among existing brewers are low as there are only two major brewers in the
local MLM industry. The threat of new entrants is minimum as government policies and complicated
tax on beers have restricted other investors in the market. The switching cost among competitors is
low as the price difference between the products of competitors are minimised. This has been proved
by a research, which has been done at a local shopping centre, Aeon Mahkota Cheras Store Shopping
Centre, which located in Cheras, Selangor, Malaysia. As figure11 shown, the minimum price
difference between a competitor is only RM1.00 for mainstream product, and the maximum price

pry her from him, and she starts yelling at him not to touch her. This entire time, a male friend of
Bonita s is just standing there watching the whole thing happen. Cory finally got tired of trying to
leave and realized he was going to have to talk to Bonita. He asked her You re saying that I can t have
a hairstyle because of your culture? Why? Bonita says again, because it s my culture! Do you know
what locks mean? Cory tries to explain to her that dreadlocks were a part of the Egyptian, Viking, and
other cultures. Again, he walks away, thankfully Bonita is distracted by a student filming the whole
situation and knocks the phone out of their hand before walking away herself. Fortunately, for Bonita,
Cory chose not to file charges for assault, but maybe he should have, perhaps this is the reason there
continues to be erratic, selfish, all about me, behavior from the Left, because no one is held
accountable for their actions.

Ernst Young was the auditing firm of HealthSouth from...
Ernst Young was the auditing firm of HealthSouth from 1984 to 2002. Due to financial hardship
Healthshore grew desperate and developed a scheme to deceive not only shareholders but Ernst and
Young. Inevitably whistleblowers came forth and a lawsuit ensued. The shareholder s lawsuit against
Ernst and Young never went to trial. However, the lawsuit against Healthshore ended in settlement.
Though a travesty to the shareholders and employees not involved with the fraud, this fraudulent
activity was necessary for it forced the SEC to hinder these types of events to occur in the future.
There may still be cases similar to HealthShore going on today had it not been for the Sarbanes Oxley
act enforcing stricter requirements for auditing firms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scienter of statements would indicate either the auditor purposefully deceived information or made
reckless decision when issuing an opinion which in both cases would qualify as an audit failure. If
Ernst and Young made any untrue statements concerning material facts or omitted necessary facts on
opinion this would classify as a violation of Rule 10b 5.
3a.) In 1998, an angry shareholder who described themselves as fleeced shareholder had e mailed
auditors and financial regulators questioning how HealthSouth was cooking their books. It is the date
and detail in the e mail that proves the most frightening. The e mail displays that the fraud should have
been caught long before it was uncovered. Unlike most investors, it was evident that this person had a
background in accounting and raised legitimate concerns. Ernst Young admitted to receiving this email
in November of 1998. However, Ernst Young felt the questions raised by the anonymous writer did
not affect the presentation of the financial statements. Moreover, a former bookkeeper of HealthSouth,
Michael Vines, also e mailed Ernst Young about specific area of fraud. His background qualified for
his email to be considered worthy evidence. Nevertheless, Ernst Young claimed that the accounting
practices being question were

The Beliefs Of AristotleMetaphysics And Epistemology
Aristotle Metaphysics and Epistemology
Aristotle claims that the principle of non contradiction [(PNC) the principle that the same attribute
cannot at the same time belong and not belong to the same subject and in the same respect
(Metaphysics, Aristotle, Part 3)] is the most certain of all principles. He further explains that this is
employed in all proofs, on any subject and therefore is the most basic, and the first principle as it is
not derived from anything more basic . Aristotle also claims, unlike Socrates, that the forms exist on
the same level as becoming. Therefore, you can logically assume Socrates metaphysics is hierarchical
in this regard. It is important to note that Aristotle does have a focal point with regards to metaphysics,
epistemology, and ethics goods. Not goods as in products, but goods as in moral goods. The reason
this idea trickles down into other areas of his philosophy is because this is where he fundamentally
disagrees with Socrates on the forms. He even goes as far as to say This sort of inquiry is, to be sure
unwelcome to us, because those who introduced the Forms (Socrates) were friends of ours; still, it
presumably seems better, indeed only right, to destroy even what is close to us if that is the way to
preserve the truth (Nicomachean Ethics, Part 6, The Platonic Form of the Good). Aristotle also
believes in 3 ideas of substance: changeable and perishable (organisms), changeable and eternal
(souls/heavenly bodies), and

The Brown V. Board Of Education
Mo Hock Ke Lok Po v. Stainback 1944 Mo Hock Ke Lok Po v. Stainback (1944) was another court
case that gave parents the right to have their children taught in a foreign language. This was a
significant victory because it implied that parents had a voice in regards to the education their children
were to receive. Brown v. Board of Education 1954 The Brown v. Board of Education of 1954 is
known for desegregating public schools in the U.S. In 1954 the Supreme Court ruled in the field of
public education the doctrine of separate but equal had no place (Brown v. Board of Education of
Topeka, 1954). It was the 1st major educational policy. The Court s decision in Brown created not just
desegregation strategies, but also instructional approaches such as Title I programs, magnet schools,
and bilingual and multicultural education (Contreras Valverde, 1994). Civil Rights Act 1964 The Civil
Rights Act of 1964 was the initial drive for bilingual education in the United States. It granted
financial assistance to the public. The Act outlawed discrimination based on race, color or national
origin in programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. The Act symbolized a less
negative attitude to ethnic groups, and possibilities for increasing tolerance of ethnic languages, at
least in the Federal level (Baker, 2011). Elementary and Secondary Education Act 1965 Elementary
and Secondary Education Act of 1965 provided federal aid for public schools. The legislation was

Super Size Me Argument
Thesis and supporting argument of the film: The main point of Super Size Me is that McDonald s
product causes overweight and obesity in the United States. The film makes the case for this thesis by
showing that McDonald s sale strategy is inducing customers to eat more than they need. First,
McDonald s always encourages customer spend a little more to upgrade the meal size. By knowing
customer psychology which is getting the best deal in comparative pricing, McDonald is welling to
earn a little more from each customer. The company clearly is profit orientated, and this is not a huge
problem unless its products have harmful side effect. According to Dir. Morgan Spurlock s
experiment, McDonald s product has excessive cholesterol, fat, and sugar ... Show more content on

The film provides facts, experiment, and lots of experts opinions. First, it gives out the fact that
America is the fattest nation in the world. Over 100 million Americans are overweight or obsess. 60%
of all US adults are overweight or obsess. (Dir. Morgan Spurlock, 2008) It shows that the problem is
real and it should be an issue that everyone pay attention to. According to Eric Schlosser, American
Journalist, there is one in fourteen American having meal in McDonald and nine in ten children having
McDonald once a month. By this shocking fact, the film director started his own experiment with 30
days McDonald s meal. Though a normal person may not do this in real life, the experiment is
convincing that McDonald s product have harmful effect over human health in long tern. On the other
side, some free market supporter might think the McDonald s product already passed government s
food regulation, such as FDA, and this should indicate the food safety is within the standard. They
believe in the idea of free market, the business is good to operate as long as they follow the laws and
rules. However, I believe when a company has too much impact over people, it should have more
responsibility or liability over its business. Like Hollywood movies, MTV and blue jeans, fast food
has become one of America s major cultural exports. (Eric Schlosser, Charlie Wilson, 2008) In fact,

Oscar Romero and the Role of the Catholic Church in El...
The Role of Romero vs. the Catholic Church: The Salvadoran Civil War The tragedies of the civil war
in El Salvador brought focus to the many issues of oppression, under representation, and inequality
apparent amongst the Salvadoran working class during the later twentieth century. The outbreak of the
war began much like civil wars in neighboring countries, consisting of the lower class demanding land
and policy reformations, as elites feared the uprisings would result in socialist geared politics that
jeopardized their status. Amidst the fighting between the two social classes, the Catholic Church, as a
whole, maintained a somewhat neutrality status and refused to publically support one group over the
other. Thus, much opposition to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Author Edward T. Brett argues that Romero had a very prophetic approach [that] was a highly
effective method of leadership during his three year tenure of office (Brett 717). He uses the term
prophetic to refer to the similar ways in which Romero preached his sermons to the underprivileged
campesinos in order to also publically represent them, much like Jesus preached to the poor to
represent the persecuted Christians. However, the term itself can be problematic because also like
Jesus, Romero was tormented by his fellow bishops for catering to the needs of the poor. Not all
bishops and clergymen at the time had captured the essence of liberation theology teachings and
feared they were too radical to preach to the campesinos. However, Romero believed that the equality
of Salvadorans was more important than their integration into the elite society. He focused many of his
preachings on the need to put an end to violence and determine a right from wrong. In Romero s last
sermon, just before he called for soldiers to refuse to obey orders, (Wood 27) he gave special attention
to the need to reinstall distinct human rights within a country in its own exodus (Romero 3) and that
both groups alike should call for, respect for the dignity of the person, hope for humanity s common
good, and the transcendence that look before all to God and only

Effects Of The Reformation In The 16th And 17th Century
I believe the single biggest pressure that caused the most issues for England in the 16th and 17th
century relate to the Reformation. The Reformation effected everyone in the country as they were
forced into a new religion headed by the King. It drastically changed people s lives and it s no wonder
why the change wasn t fully accepted for a long time. Rapid population increase caused a significant
strain on the country as they needed to develop new ways to feed everyone. The abolishment of
common lands in favor of enclosure agriculture strained the poorest people in the country. All of these
created mass amounts of tension and stress within a society transitioning into an economic power. In
1534, the English Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy effectively placing Henry the 8th as the
head of the English Church. His royal prerogative was extended to deciding the religion in which the
country would follow. The need of a male heir played a significant role in this decision, along with the
opinions of many throughout the Christian world that Catholic Church was corrupt beyond repair. The
event left the English citizens in a state of disbelief and resentment as their whole lives seemed to be
turned upside down. There would be a number of consequences resulting from the Reformation. For
starters the government began dissolving the monasteries which provided a number of services to their
communities around them, such as education and several acted as hospitals. The King attempted to
compensate for these lost services by establishing public services to his citizens with the money he
was gaining from the land he acquired from the monasteries. Unfortunately the money was poorly
spend and did not adequately replace the services of the monasteries. Adding on to this a large chunk
of the population refused to follow the newly created church. Several clergymen who didn t recognize
Henry as the new head of the church were executed for not swearing loyalty to him. Furthermore
thousands of people would rise up through the years in rebellion against the state for the reason of
religion. The Pilgrimage of Grace for example rose to 40,000 people demanding the Supremacy Act
be reversed as well as punishing the officials

  • 2. Mother Courage And Eilif Fate is a perplexing topic for even when an outcome is known there is no way of perceiving how it will come about. In Ancient Greece, the plays were written about well known tales of heroes and the playwright would warn the audience about fate. More modern plays incorporate the idea of fate in a similar fashion to the Ancient Greeks with a contemporary flair. The morbid, ugly universe that is war desecrates the greatest of human virtues (bravery, honesty, kindness, etc.) in Bertolt Brecht s Mother Courage and Her Children. Eilif, Mother Courage s brave son, joins the army, much to his mother s dismay, which is when she decides to tell her children s fortunes. She tells her children that their virtues will be the end of them; nonetheless, they do not attempt to change their fortunes. Sure enough, Eilif is persecuted for stealing a cow during a break in the war (this behavior that was considered brave during the war). Swiss Cheese, the honest son, is shot for trying to return a stolen cash box. Kattrin is shot while warning a town of an impending invasion. Mother Courage warned her children to be wary of their virtues, but none of them could change their ways or their destinies. In this way, Brecht emphasizes the disillusionment of war. ... Gluten acts like a glue and helps food maintain their shape. Gluten is comprised of two main proteins, gliadin and glutenin, and can be found in grains such as durum, barley, kamut, rye, spelt, farro, and wheat. In addition, gluten is added to all sorts of processed foods, including pastries, cookies, condiments, ice cream, cakes, beer, as well as cereals. Due to this, it is imperative for those who are looking to avoid gluten products, to look at the list of ingredients on packaged foods. Nowadays, gluten is a controversial topic, with many individuals on each side of the fence. While there is a debate about the dangers of gluten, many people tolerate gluten. Most people automatically think of the horrors that the Jews went through, while some may even wonder how something as horrible as the Holocaust could have been done. Not many people stop to think about how the Jews resisted. Jews resisted in small acts almost every day. Whether it was something as small as praying or as large as blowing up a supply train, Jews were able to block the Nazis from completely wiping out the Jewish culture. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE TREATMENT OF CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA INTRODUCTION: The contraction and relaxation of the heart is represented in the form of electrical signals in electrocardiogram. Normally the depolarisation of SA node present in the right atrium of the heart is helpful in determining the heart rate of a person. SA node i.e. the sino atrial node is called the natural pacemaker of the heart. The electrical signal produced by the SA node starts the first beat, it causes the atria to contract and then these signals arrive AV node which allows ventricles to contract causing the blood to flow throughout the body. Litin, October 6 2009) TREATMENT: For bradycardia generally an artificial pacemaker is used which implanted near your heart so when the heart slows down or stops pacemaker generates impulses in order to stimulate the heart. For tachycardia generally a pacemaker is used which emits impulses for the normal functioning of the heart. In this condition implantable cardioverter defibrillator is also used. It is recommended only when the patient is at high risk. When there occurs sudden cardiac arrest then this implantable device sends low or high impulses to reset the heart so as to beat in normal rhythm. Many surgical procedures like maze procedure in which doctors make an incision in the cardiac tissues and thus they does not conduct electricity and which results in lowering down of the heart rate, another surgical procedure involved is cardiac bypass surgery, this is performed when there are many other coronary artery problems other than arrhythmia. During this time, a man by the name of Jesus began his teachings and Christianity was born. It was a religion created by the mass number of followers that Jesus procured through his teachings, the people who held onto every single of his words. During this time, there was much war and many civil wars throughout the Roman Empire which had erupted into mass chaos. Zealots were encouraging armed rebellion and it was then that Christians, or self proclaimed people of this new belief or religion, believed in what they deemed the Messiah, who according to text, would destroy Roman legions and bring times of happiness to the world around them (McKay, 168). Paganism was another type of religion that began around this time as well, for the people who practiced religions outside the well received Judaism and Christianity. What would be known as synchronistic religions blended together both Roman and indigenous deities. Statues, temples, and monuments were all built or constructed due to this belief and there was an ideal that existed in which there was believed to be life after death (McKay, 168). Starting this book has reshaped how I think about the growing problem of homelessness. How I address the problem, and how I see and want to find ways to fix it more than ever. Growing up I ve heard many reasons why people are homeless. One is that they didn t have enough money to support themselves, because they spent it on wants, and not necessities like, drugs, and alcohol. Another is that a person is mentally challenged, and doesn t have the capacity, or skills to function in, the real world and can t support themselves, and end up on the streets. The teacher was a DHOH specialist who pulled her out of class weekly to practice how to use the hearing aid, changing batteries, and lip reading skills. She was considered a better candidate for hearing aids since she had a mild hearing loss when she was younger and not deemed a good fit for surgical intervention since hearing aids was the least invasive procedure for hearing. Eventually, DL decided to get a cochlear implant. She started to realize that her hearing loss was progressive; she went from a mild hearing loss at 33 dB to severe to profound hearing loss at 95 dB. • 18. The Prehistory Of Home In the book The Prehistory of Home Jerry Moore discusses the importance that home structures have had for humans over time in different places of the world. He says that In addition to their basic and fundamental function of providing shelter from natural elements, dwellings are powerful and complex concentrates of human existence... our dwellings reflect and shape our lives (Moore, 3). He believes that homes are representations of the existence of individual humans as well as their surroundings. Jerry Moore is successful in explaining the importance of home in archaeology throughout history with colorful examples as well as a comparison of the importance of the home in the past to the importance of the home in the future. Moore sees the home as a reflection of the self as well as a mirror image of one s surroundings. His goal is to describe the importance of archaeology in history of home by critiquing the writing of an illuminated history and that by exploring the homes of people in the past we can see the pas from a different perspective (Moore, 9). He says that, archaeology is the only way those ancient lives can be recovered and added to the consultable record of what it means to be human (Moore, 10). He also wants to abandon the notion of time as linear and wants it to be seen as a continuum instead. He believes the the goal of understanding the past intersects with the continuing human domestic project (Moore, 11). Another goal of the book is to survey the ways ... • 19. John Stuart Mill on Individual Liberty Essay John Stuart Mill on Individual Liberty Definition of Individual liberty In his work On Liberty, Mill placed much emphasis on individual liberty and its vital role in political society. To Mill, this phrase may be defined as the liberty of the individual to be the final judge over his actions; to decide what is right and wrong and to act upon that standard. On a secondary level, it also implies one s freedom to pursue one s own individuality. Mill believed in a society in which each individual leads his own distinctive life according to his own unique talents; unfettered by regulations upon thought, opinion, actions etc. However, Mill asserts an important caveat; that which he calls `the very simple principle . He writes, `That ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Value of Individual Liberty Indeed, Mill asserted that the cultivation of one s individuality should be the goal of human existence. He wrote On Liberty as an argument against repressive laws which inhibit voluntary association and suppress original ideas and ways of thinking, in a bid to protect the freedom of the individual from stifling social conventions, oppressive legal controls and censorship. What is the value of individual liberty that calls for it to be defended so fervently by Mill? Individual Liberty and Truth Firstly, Mill believes that individual liberty is instrumental in the attainment of truth. No one can claim an infallibility of knowledge or a definite truth. Falsehoods are often sprinkled with specks of truth; and truth may exists as half truths held by different people, and it is only through controversy that the truth in the parts can be unified into a larger canvas of the ultimate truth. If one s actions were to be censored completely, society would lose those specks of truth amongst the falsehoods, which would be disadvantageous to society. Furthermore, truth is very often not derived from the masses, but from the ideas of a select few. If these people are silenced by repressive laws or mass opinion, society will be deprived of a chance to find out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, you have probably learned more than one lesson in your life, and I definitely learn lessons everyday, but one that has stuck with me is that Jesus is the only perfect person, and that I shouldn t feel like I am lacking perfection, because it isn t possible. I can still strive for it, but I won t get all the way there. Some people may find that discouraging, but I find that an encouragement. That is because I know that when I fail, I will know that I almost did something impossible. Other people might see that I m saying that they will fail, and they will. The truth can hurt, but I am (mostly) an honest person. I wouldn t lie about this, and you just need to accept it, no one can be perfect, only Jesus. Reading the Holy Bible has taught me many things. One of my favorite verses is 2 Samuel 22:31, As for God, his way is perfect; the LORD S word is flawless; he shields all that take refuge in him. I had a bad day, and opened to a random verse, and found this. One day in fourth grade we had SBAC testing and I had decided to take my Bible to school to read after I finished, seeing as I usually finished before the end of the day. The Economic, Economic And Economic Value Of Biodiversity According to the National Geographic, a recent scientific study predicts that our planet is home to 8.7 million species; however, only about 1.2 million species are known (86 Percent of Earth s Species Still Unknown?). The National Wildlife Federation defines biodiversity as, the variety of life (What is Biodiversity?). It can be studied on a small scale, for example, species, or a larger scale such as genetics and ecology. In order to fully understand the biodiversity of a certain species, it s imperative to understand both their genes and environment, as well. Although many people do not recognize the various species within our ecosystem as important, they are the main reason life is sustainable. Biodiversity has extreme fundamental value to a healthy life and ecosystem. It is the framework upon which we rely for our needs and well being. It provides us with food resources, such as fruits and grains, as well as meat, fish, and milk products. Humans are dependent on biodiversity for cultural, economic and environmental stability. For example, farmers rely on bees to pollinate their crops, which allows for a greater supply of food and work. The economic value of biodiversity stems from its production of many everyday essentials such as food supplies, medicine, and raw materials. Their priorities focus on preventing terrorism and the illegal movement of items, as well as people. Within ICE, there are three subgroups that fall into specialized tasks for the agency, such as Homeland security investigations (HSI) and the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Although being a fairly new agency there has been more than a few controversies on how ICE handles the illegal immigrants, however, since 9/11 the U.S has been trying to find the most effective ways to stop terrorism. So, that also means that not everyone would agree with the tactics that ICE used to solve the problem for those specific cases. The U.S has been known as the land of opportunities, so of course people from all over the world would try to leave their countries that weren t thriving economically after World War I, this lead to immigration into the US to rise significantly. Another major method that Stalin used to maintain his power was the use of propaganda to portray himself as a benevolent father figure. While at the same time he was committing mass murder. In Ukraine alone he killed ten million people in only two years! Many historians agree that Stalin killed over sixty million people. Why did he kill so much people? This can be traced back to Machiavelli s The Prince. As discussed before, The Prince teaches that a ruler should have the fear of the people. Stalin slaughtered so many people to prevent any opposition to his reign. He eliminated all the strong people, both the intellectual and physical; therefore the few left would be too afraid and too weak, physically and mentally, to resist. Stalin did exactly what Machiavelli stated in the Prince, which was also stated above, And here it has to be noted that men must be either pampered or crushed, because they can get revenge fore small injuries but not fore grievous ones. Stalin stated Death is the solution to all problems. No man no problem. , Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs. , and I trust no one, not even myself. Explain. Performing vigorous exercise requires a high demand of energy in order to be accomplished, the body adapts to this change by increasing the rate of aerobic cellular respiration which would produce more energy to meet the needs. As a result there would be much more carbon dioxide being exhaled from the body as it is one of the waste products produced during aerobic cellular respiration. CO2 is specifically formed during the Pyruvate oxidation and Kreb Cycle stage of the cellular respiration. To exemplify during pyruvate oxidation one of the steps is a decarboxylation reaction in which the carboxyl group of pyruvate is removed to from CO2. Overall for one glucose molecule two molecules of CO2 is released during pyruvate oxidation as glycolysis yields two pyruvate molecules. Furthermore the Krebs Cycle also produces CO2 molecules during the oxidation of isocitrate which produces a ketoglutarate. Another CO2 molecule is also produced during the oxidation of a ketoglutarate. This reaction produces the molecule succinyl CoA. As a result two CO2 molecules are produced for one acetyl CoA. These points exemplify how the increase rate of cellular respiration would increase the rate of CO2 being exhaled. In connection to the lab investigation this would speed up the rate of reactions as there would be a much higher concentration of CO2 being exhaled compared to when the body is at rest. As a result this would increase the amount of product being produced because of the increase of CO2 in the reaction. Due to which the lab experiment would occur at a higher rate and it would be faster as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It seems she was mistaken. I blinked and playing her words back a kernel of guilt seeded itself in my guts. She was doing it on purpose. I knew it she was doing it on purpose she d said so herself but... I sighed in resignation and sank back into the seat. Probably should have figured one of them would get to me, though, especially considering how often they guilted their Big Sister . Fine. I ll tell you what I was planning to tell Mikoto, is that acceptable? Yes. However, Misaka does request Aka refrains from giving the same advice for as long as she can. Not give the same advice? Oh. The competitiveness. I could just see it: Misaka sees other Sister barely hanging onto a cliff. Sister uses (Stomp on Fingers)... It s super effective! Long live the king. I shook my head at the silly visual despite knowing it probably wasn t too far off the mark. Sure. Well... basically, the best thing you can do is to keep things simple. • 37. Final Project Reflection Report 1.How are you feeling about your final project? I feel positive about my final project for this unit. First, Omar and I had made a good slideshow that was somewhat modern. Second, we had found useful information that was somewhat reliable. 2. What things specifically tell you that it went so well/so poorly? Somethings that told us hat we had done a good job was the feedback we received from the people we presented the slideshow to. In addition, we compared our presentation and its qualities to other peoples´ and we found that ours was ´superior´. 3. As you think about the decisions you made in this unit, which ones seem most important? The decision of redesigning our slideshow again to specify our results was useful. Our general results ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How did the final project go compared to how you thought it might go? The final project was little better than I expected. Omars technological skills are always good, which is why I thought we would do a good job. Yet, I expected the survey results to be sketchy, because of all of the written results and the unreliability of some peoples responses. 5. What are some things you learned from this project? First, I´ve learned some tricks involving Google Excel and creating proper graphs. Second, I learned that when you work with people that actually complete their work, the project is smoother and better. Though, I was surprised that he completed all of his work and did even more, which was interesting. 5a. What did you learn about research (surveys, interviews, etc.)? I learned that more than just some people find their homework uninteresting. I didn t expect this to be a problem for most people. I learned that most people find the homework in Mathematics and social studies uninteresting, and I agree. I was surprised that few people found artistic assignments interesting, but they were probably thinking about the basic art class assignments which are not being intended. 6. Porter s Five Forces Five Forces Analysis Michael Porter s Five Forces Analysis is a framework that used for industry analysis and understand the level of competition in an industry in order to develop business strategy (Tang, 2014). There are two key players in the local malt liquor market (MLM) industry of Malaysia, GAB Berhad and CBMB who have occupied 95% of the total beer and stout market shares in Malaysia (CMBB, 2015). Therefore, the competition among existing brewers are low as there are only two major brewers in the local MLM industry. The threat of new entrants is minimum as government policies and complicated tax on beers have restricted other investors in the market. The switching cost among competitors is low as the price difference between the products of competitors are minimised. This has been proved by a research, which has been done at a local shopping centre, Aeon Mahkota Cheras Store Shopping Centre, which located in Cheras, Selangor, Malaysia. As figure11 shown, the minimum price difference between a competitor is only RM1.00 for mainstream product, and the maximum price difference is RM3.00 for Premium beer ... Due to financial hardship Healthshore grew desperate and developed a scheme to deceive not only shareholders but Ernst and Young. Inevitably whistleblowers came forth and a lawsuit ensued. The shareholder s lawsuit against Ernst and Young never went to trial. However, the lawsuit against Healthshore ended in settlement. Though a travesty to the shareholders and employees not involved with the fraud, this fraudulent activity was necessary for it forced the SEC to hinder these types of events to occur in the future. • 42. The Beliefs Of AristotleMetaphysics And Epistemology Aristotle Metaphysics and Epistemology Aristotle claims that the principle of non contradiction [(PNC) the principle that the same attribute cannot at the same time belong and not belong to the same subject and in the same respect (Metaphysics, Aristotle, Part 3)] is the most certain of all principles. He further explains that this is employed in all proofs, on any subject and therefore is the most basic, and the first principle as it is not derived from anything more basic . Aristotle also claims, unlike Socrates, that the forms exist on the same level as becoming. Therefore, you can logically assume Socrates metaphysics is hierarchical in this regard. It is important to note that Aristotle does have a focal point with regards to metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics goods. Not goods as in products, but goods as in moral goods. The reason this idea trickles down into other areas of his philosophy is because this is where he fundamentally disagrees with Socrates on the forms. He even goes as far as to say This sort of inquiry is, to be sure unwelcome to us, because those who introduced the Forms (Socrates) were friends of ours; still, it presumably seems better, indeed only right, to destroy even what is close to us if that is the way to preserve the truth (Nicomachean Ethics, Part 6, The Platonic Form of the Good). Aristotle also believes in 3 ideas of substance: changeable and perishable (organisms), changeable and eternal (souls/heavenly bodies), and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stainback (1944) was another court case that gave parents the right to have their children taught in a foreign language. This was a significant victory because it implied that parents had a voice in regards to the education their children were to receive. Brown v. Board of Education 1954 The Brown v. Board of Education of 1954 is known for desegregating public schools in the U.S. In 1954 the Supreme Court ruled in the field of public education the doctrine of separate but equal had no place (Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, 1954). It was the 1st major educational policy. The Court s decision in Brown created not just desegregation strategies, but also instructional approaches such as Title I programs, magnet schools, and bilingual and multicultural education (Contreras Valverde, 1994). Civil Rights Act 1964 The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the initial drive for bilingual education in the United States. It granted financial assistance to the public. The Act outlawed discrimination based on race, color or national origin in programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. The Act symbolized a less negative attitude to ethnic groups, and possibilities for increasing tolerance of ethnic languages, at least in the Federal level (Baker, 2011). The film makes the case for this thesis by showing that McDonald s sale strategy is inducing customers to eat more than they need. First, McDonald s always encourages customer spend a little more to upgrade the meal size. By knowing customer psychology which is getting the best deal in comparative pricing, McDonald is welling to earn a little more from each customer. The film provides facts, experiment, and lots of experts opinions. First, it gives out the fact that America is the fattest nation in the world. Over 100 million Americans are overweight or obsess. 60% of all US adults are overweight or obsess. (Dir. Morgan Spurlock, 2008) It shows that the problem is real and it should be an issue that everyone pay attention to. According to Eric Schlosser, American Journalist, there is one in fourteen American having meal in McDonald and nine in ten children having McDonald once a month. By this shocking fact, the film director started his own experiment with 30 days McDonald s meal. Though a normal person may not do this in real life, the experiment is convincing that McDonald s product have harmful effect over human health in long tern. On the other side, some free market supporter might think the McDonald s product already passed government s food regulation, such as FDA, and this should indicate the food safety is within the standard. They believe in the idea of free market, the business is good to operate as long as they follow the laws and rules. However, I believe when a company has too much impact over people, it should have more responsibility or liability over its business. The Role of Romero vs. the Catholic Church: The Salvadoran Civil War The tragedies of the civil war in El Salvador brought focus to the many issues of oppression, under representation, and inequality apparent amongst the Salvadoran working class during the later twentieth century. The outbreak of the war began much like civil wars in neighboring countries, consisting of the lower class demanding land and policy reformations, as elites feared the uprisings would result in socialist geared politics that jeopardized their status. Amidst the fighting between the two social classes, the Catholic Church, as a whole, maintained a somewhat neutrality status and refused to publically support one group over the other. Brett argues that Romero had a very prophetic approach [that] was a highly effective method of leadership during his three year tenure of office (Brett 717). He uses the term prophetic to refer to the similar ways in which Romero preached his sermons to the underprivileged campesinos in order to also publically represent them, much like Jesus preached to the poor to represent the persecuted Christians. However, the term itself can be problematic because also like Jesus, Romero was tormented by his fellow bishops for catering to the needs of the poor. Not all bishops and clergymen at the time had captured the essence of liberation theology teachings and feared they were too radical to preach to the campesinos. However, Romero believed that the equality of Salvadorans was more important than their integration into the elite society. He focused many of his preachings on the need to put an end to violence and determine a right from wrong. In Romero s last sermon, just before he called for soldiers to refuse to obey orders, (Wood 27) he gave special attention to the need to reinstall distinct human rights within a country in its own exodus (Romero 3) and that both groups alike should call for, respect for the dignity of the person, hope for humanity s common good, and the transcendence that look before all to God and only ... • 48. Effects Of The Reformation In The 16th And 17th Century I believe the single biggest pressure that caused the most issues for England in the 16th and 17th century relate to the Reformation. The Reformation effected everyone in the country as they were forced into a new religion headed by the King. It drastically changed people s lives and it s no wonder why the change wasn t fully accepted for a long time. Rapid population increase caused a significant strain on the country as they needed to develop new ways to feed everyone. The abolishment of common lands in favor of enclosure agriculture strained the poorest people in the country. All of these created mass amounts of tension and stress within a society transitioning into an economic power. In 1534, the English Parliament passed the Act of Supremacy effectively placing Henry the 8th as the head of the English Church. His royal prerogative was extended to deciding the religion in which the country would follow. The need of a male heir played a significant role in this decision, along with the opinions of many throughout the Christian world that Catholic Church was corrupt beyond repair. The event left the English citizens in a state of disbelief and resentment as their whole lives seemed to be turned upside down. There would be a number of consequences resulting from the Reformation. For starters the government began dissolving the monasteries which provided a number of services to their communities around them, such as education and several acted as hospitals. The King attempted to compensate for these lost services by establishing public services to his citizens with the money he was gaining from the land he acquired from the monasteries. Unfortunately the money was poorly spend and did not adequately replace the services of the monasteries. Adding on to this a large chunk of the population refused to follow the newly created church. Several clergymen who didn t recognize Henry as the new head of the church were executed for not swearing loyalty to him. Furthermore thousands of people would rise up through the years in rebellion against the state for the reason of religion. The Pilgrimage of Grace for example rose to 40,000 people demanding the Supremacy Act be reversed as well as punishing the officials ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
