The document outlines the planning and production schedule for creating a fanzine about graffiti artists in York. It includes gathering inspiration from mood boards and research. The fanzine will have interviews and messages from two local graffiti artists, along with photos edited to have a "cut and stick" scrapbook aesthetic. A four week production schedule is outlined, including shooting interviews and photos, laying out pages in Photoshop and InDesign, and printing and sharing the finished fanzine both physically and digitally.

You could create a mood board of images related to your product. They could be inspirational or visually interesting.
Analyse what you have gathered.
Decide on content and think about how you will structure your piece – consider the conventions of your chosen
style/genre, think about the best methods to appeal to your audience.
Finally work out a production schedule for the project. Once you have a final proposal, begin to plan how you intend to
realise your project and what you will need to create/collect.
Planning will vary depending on if you are doing a web series, podcast or a fanzine.
Web-series: A script, storyboard, organisational docs and clearance forms for your contributors/sources.
Fanzine: Content outline, visual style, pagination, organisational documents.

3. Mood board (or other idea development work):
This collection of images show different
elements and key conventions I would like to
include within my own fanzine. For example, cut
outs of newspaper, drawings etc. These will all
be a major help in creating the "scrapbook"
effect I wish to create in my own fanzine. The
cut and stick effect will be prominent
throughout my fanzine with the use of overlaid
images of tape, staples, paint and drawings. All
these taking inspiration from specific fanzines as
well as the fanzines I had researched which all
feature a similar aesthetic I hope to replicate in

4. Content:
My fanzine will consist of:
- Two double page spreads consisting of an interview with a
graffiti artist from York who has been painting and producing art
for over 3 years within the York scene. The interview will cover
various topics the York scene, how artists first start and what are
people's inspiration and influences within the scene.
- One page will have a written message from a York writer
discussing what graffiti means to them and will include images of
their graffiti.
- The whole fanzine will consist of 12 pages all featuring images
of graffiti from different writers all around York and will be edited
and manipulated to create a cut and stick "scrapbook" effect.
- The use of the scrapbook effect will appeal and a attract a large-
scale audience as this style is something familiar with graffiti
writers across the globe as it is a similar look to a writers
Blackbook.
- To target a smaller scale audience, I have featured local York
writers and art that can been seen about as well as in the
fanzine.

5. Planning: pagination
Front cover – The masthead and fanzine title "Yo Graff" will be placed central at the
top of the cover in a graffiti tag style font. In the lower section of the page will feature
the tagline "York's Graffiti Zine". Both of these will be in front of my cover image,
which will be the graffiti writer that is featured in the fanzine. The writer will have a
can of paint held in front of his face covering it.
Pg. 2 & 3 - These pages will feature selected images from one specific York writer -
"creamer". Within these selected images will be a handwritten and scanned message
from the writer explaining the question, "what does graff mean to you?"
Pg. 4 & 5 – For these pages I will aim to keep them very minimal only featuring
images. To avoid this page been boring I will edit the photos by adding rips to the
edges and tape strips, so they have the cut and stick aesthetic that I had planned to
feature throughout.
Pg. 6 & 7 - This will be the first of two interview pages. This page will feature images
of the writer that is been interviewed followed up by questions. All photos and the
conducted interview will still have the same "cut & stick" aesthetic featured on the
rest of the pages. This page will also have a scanned image of a train ticket that has
been drawn on by the artist.
Pg. 8 & 9 – These pages will be the second part to the interview and will contain the
remaining questions as well as images and cut outs from the writer. Drawn on
newspaper and receipts from the artists very own blackbook will be scanned in and
featured on this page.
Pg. 10 & 11 - The final pages of my fanzine will feature the remaining photos shot and
taken of York graffiti. Once again these will all be edited and manipulated with the "cut
& stick" aesthetic theme that will be continuously running throughout the fanzine.

6. Planning: People for interviews/messages.

towards an interview or a select piece of
writing that will be featured within some
of the pages.

7. Production Schedule:
Week commencing 11/10/21
o Monday 11th - Shoot all images and conduct both interviews ready for writing up.
o Tuesday 12th - sort through all images taken and edit any minor changes i.e edit any over-exposed images.
o Wednesday 13th - Make a start on the first of two interview pages. Figure out a layout and upload any images featured on this page.
Start to write up the interview on paper ready for scanning the following day.
o Thursday 14th - Scan interview and import into photoshop to complete the first interview page.
o Friday 15th - Import remaining section of scanned interview and images for the second interview page. Edit together to complete
both double page spread interviews.
Week commencing 18/10/21
o Wednesday 20th - Import selected images for the first page. Edit together a layout for this page and leave room for the hand-written
message from graffiti writer.
o Thursday 21st - Hand write up message and scan. Import scanned message into photoshop and complete the first page of the fanzine
o Friday 22nd - Import chosen images for the second page, edit and manipulate these with the "cut & stick" aesthetic.
Week commencing 25/10/21
o Wednesday 27th – Produce the fanzine cover, include brand logo/title as well as tagline and issue number.
o Thursday 28th - Produce back cover for magazine, keep this page minimalistic with next to no writing on it.
o Friday 29th - Edit together the second to last page. Import chosen images and once again edit with the "cut & stick" aesthetic.
Week commencing 1/11/21
o Wednesday 3rd – Complete the last page with the remaining images and make sure to use the scrapbook cut & stick aesthetic so the
same theme is continuing throughout the fanzine.
o Thursday 4th - Upload all pages into Adobe Indesign and prepare for printing or make any minor changes or errors within the fanzine.
o Friday 5th – Print out fanzine and staple together ready for viewing. As well as creating a physical copy upload the fanzine to issuu so
a digital copy is available.
