Mood Board #1
Mood Board #1
• This mood board inspires my project as they all capture candid
moments of young people and student life. This includes the
outfits, activities and places. All the photos in this mood board have
been shot on film, I feel this adds a much more personal level to the
photos as that image/memory has been captured in time forever,
which is why I will shoot the majority of mine on film. I will take all
these in to account when shooting my project as I will be
interviewing two Leeds Arts students about what it’s like been a
student as well as capture their fashion, and work throughout the
day. The outfits, camera and location are the main influences of this
project. These photos are shot and edited in a style very much
similar to i-d magazine, another influence when it comes to creating
this project.
Mood Board #2
Mood Board #2
• These selected photos will all massively inspire my second
project as I aim to do a portrait shoot using different colours
and effects to manipulate my photos. This will be done
through various lenses and postproduction software. Some of
the shots I take will be made into collages, in a similar style to
artist David Hockney. Editing the colours on the photo makes
the image more eye-catching for the viewer and draws in their
attention to the photo. When it comes to testing out ideas I
may try this ‘inverted’ colours technique to see if it works with
my type of shots. A lot of these photos that have been
manipulated give the shots a ’Dazed Magazine’ look and feel,
an editing technique I could potentially use in my own
magazine.
Mood Board #3
Mood Board #3
• All of these images will inspire my third photoshoot, whether
that’s the clothing, type of shot, genre of music or decade. For
example, this shoot will take massive influence from 90s. This
includes the clothing and their brands, the artists behind the
music of the 90s as well as the way my photos are shot. I aim
to keep this shoot as British as possible including classic
brands as well as classic British culture. These type of shots
are typically edited in post-production and the saturation is
increased giving the photo a more 90s summertime look. This
is something I could replicate when doing a similar shoot.
Key Influences
• One of my main influences is the Instagram account,
@toughluckuk. They’re an account that showcases
youth photographer's work. The majority of the
photos are usually taken on a film camera by creative
students from across the UK. A lot of the students
capture things such as: student living, fashion and
portraits or other peoples art work. These will
influence my first photoshoot as I will use my film
camera too capture candid moments within seconds.
The people featured in my shoot are both Leeds arts
uni students so will be able to give me an idea of
student life etc. so my photos will be on a similar
aesthetic level to the photos featured on
toughluckuk.
Key Influences
• Another of my key influencers is fashion
influencer, Danny Lomas. Danny is a
member of the YouTube collective, PAQ, a
streetwear and fashion based channel.
Danny describes his style as “classic British
as I find inspiration through subcultures”.
With over 200k followers Danny is always
doing photoshoots for classic British
heritage brands such as Fred Perry and
Dr.Martens. With Danny being from
Yorkshire he will Inspire one of my shoots
as I aim to capture British culture within
my shots. The brands that I want to be
worn in this photoshoot will also be British
heritage brands and worn in a similar style
to Danny.
Key Influences
• Another key influence of mine is the brand, Cold Archive. Cold archive is a
UK based brand that’s goal is to promote themselves as well as other
young artist work through their social media. They run two very popular
Instagram accounts, @cold_archive and @coldarchive_youth, which both
focus on highlighting and promoting young artists, photographers and
designers. This brand was a huge influence on my idea as my goal is to
creative a magazine that promotes the creative youth and their work.
