My proposed photography magazine titled "Silhouette" aims to appeal to both male and female audiences as the photography industry has become nearly 50/50 in terms of gender participation. The magazine will have a monochrome aesthetic with soft pops of color and focus on being both visually pleasing and informative. To ensure the magazine meets audience interests, I will conduct surveys and interviews with photographers and non-photographers to understand what content is desired. The target audience is predicted to be middle class achievers living in large cities who are interested in photography for professional or hobby purposes. Proposal 1 Centre Name and Number: York College 48357 Student Name and Number: Kieran Johnson 401100 Project proposal title and date: Off The Script - 1/3/2021 Main area of activity: Magazine Rationale: I’d like to think that my already well-versed skill in working with print media and software such as photoshop is going to help me massively with this project, as well as having the necessary equipment for it now that I have successfully charged my camera (after not being able to find the battery charger for it for a long time). My off days being spent on taking photos and editing them using software such as Picsart may also help me successfully taking on this project. I feel comfortable moving forward now that the previous project is out of my way as well. Project Concept: The concept of my project is a wrestling magazine fit with a front and back cover, multiple interview pages based on the star of the cover, and some merchandise pages. This is down to my fairly extensive knowledge of the art form of wrestling and my current ability with print media production. The photography and acting is likely to be done by myself actually, as I had the idea of creating my own wrestling persona to be interviewed, and then I would insert the photos from the shoot as the insert photos – as well as any supporting images that may be necessary from the internet. The merch page as an idea exists due to my large portfolio of wrestling t-shirts, video games and action figures which I figure would be a nice idea to add-on as an additional portion of the project. Most of the research is likely to be aimed at already existing wrestling and sports magazines, filled with their covers and insert pages in order for me to get an understanding as to what already appears on their front covers. How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: I plan to give myself a chance to look back at the work I have done throughout each day, taking screenshots of what I get done and reviewing them overall. I like to take the day-by-day approach towards self-analysis and review of my work and am excited to eventually do the same with this project, hopefully leading to further opportunities down the line.
