Student Name and Number:

Project proposal title and date:
Yo Graff
Main area of activity
In this project I will create a fanzine and it will be shot on a film camera and edited together on
photoshop.
Target Audience My target audience is graffiti writers or people with an interest in the culture, most of
which fall into the 16-24 category as many current writers are typically young. This fanzine can also be
viewed by much older writers that would like to see what is currently happening within the scene.
Rationale:
Throughout the majority of the year I have worked on print using photoshop to build up a specific skills
set which will be used when creating this project. For example when producing a magazine for my fmp
it allowed me to understand how magazine page layouts are structed with images, text, headings etc.
knowing all of this will be a huge help when it comes to producing my fanzine as it includes similar
features to a magazine. As well as this, I have also conducted an interview experiment which allowed
me to understand how interviews work and how get the best results from them, meaning I can apply
these skills when conducting my own interview.
Project Concept:
The concept of this project is to showcase and present the graffiti scene within York. This will all be
created through the style of a fanzine and will be entirely shot on film. This fanzine will mainly consist
of images followed by captions stating what street the graffiti is on and the middle of the fanzine will
focus on one specific writer within the York scene and have an interview page on them and their work.
For this project I will need to research into existing graffiti fanzines to see what is included in them and
how they are presented. As well as this I will also need to research into York’s graffiti scene and
where the high in graffiti areas are.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
Each week when producing this fanzine, I will self-evaluate any work and track my progression
throughout. After the full production is complete, I will self-evaluate each section of my work.
Research, shooting, interview and final production will all be evaluated. When evaluating these I will
discuss what went well, what didn’t go as planned and what I could change or improve on in the
future. By doing this and self-critiquing my work it allows me pick out parts that aren’t as strong so
when producing work in the future I can really focus on the weaker elements.

Be aware which of those weeks are in or out of college,as you may need to plan different tasks around other
work when workingremotely. Budget for approximately 30 hours for production – which is roughly two weeks
of your in collegetime.
