The International Standards Organization ( Iso )
The International Standards Organization (ISO) produces guidelines for organizations to use as a
quality management tool. ISO functions as an independent organization with no governmental ties,
allowing themselves to create guidelines that are not catered more specifically to one country than
another. One hundred and sixty two national standards bodies make up its membership and they help
supply experts who will share knowledge and develop international standards. These voluntary,
market relevant, and consensus based standards are produced as a result of the identification of a
global need and are compiled through the work of international experts working in conjunction with
one another. In 1987, the first version of ISO guidelines was released. It was heavily based on the
older UK Standard BS 5750 with three kinds of quality management systems. An organization would
select one of these systems by evaluating the scope of their activities (The British Assessment
Bureau). ISO 9001:1987 Model for quality assurance in design, development, productions,
installation, and servicing was developed for companies and organizations who dealt with creating
new products. The 9002 version, Model for quality assurance in production, installation, and servicing
was nearly identical to ISO 9001 with the exception of not dealing with new product creation. ISO
9003:1987 Model for quality assurance in final inspection and test only detailed the inspection of the
finished product and ignored how

Athabasca University As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Potash Corporation
of Saskatchewan, the world s largest producer of potash, Wayne Brownlee has endured more turbulent
financial volatility with a calm and confident ease than many in his position would be capable of. One
of the largest challenges of his position as a top manager in the organization is making things happen.
He achieves this by increasing profitability through leadership (interpersonal role, leading function)

PotashCorp has many primary and secondary stakeholders that have their voices heard as part of the
company s sustainability commitments. The primary group, which includes their customers, investors,
and community leaders, are surveyed each year with a report of the results going to the board of
directors. The secondary group includes the media and critics of commercial fertilizers in modern
agriculture, many of whom are concerned about environmental and safety impacts. These stakeholders
also comprise much of the specific environment. Great communication between Mr. Brownlee and the
Corporate Relations department with the critics, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies are
essential for success. In knowing the market and their competition, PotashCorp has positioned itself
for the exponential growth in world food demand by reinvesting in their own company. Competitors
desires for a new greenfield mine project are a big gamble. It would cost more than $2.8 billion dollars
plus infrastructure costs in a tight credit market and take five to seven years to build. By proceeding
with multi billion dollar expansions of their existing facilities, Mr. Brownlee demonstrates conceptual
skills and the planning function, enabling his company to meet this growth in the most cost effective
and efficient manner possible. PotashCorp and its employees follow a strong formal business culture

The Negative Effect Of Polarization As The Presidential...
We live in a world blanketed by the darkness of ignorance. Instead of blindly searching for the black
or white answers, we must defeat the enemy by moving toward common ground. Currently in politics,
we see the negative effect of polarization as the presidential campaign has become candidate centered
rather than issue centered. We see the candidates resort to bully like tactics where they attack each
other personally, rather than focusing on the issues at hand. While it is said that polarity is an integral
part of nature, we need our differences to bring us together as a whole, rather than drive us apart.
Polarization is inevitable due to the unique design of every individual, but issues are seen as either
black or white, when really

Australia and Indigenous People
From the surface one may look upon Australia as being the lucky county however when explored
deeper Kayleigh Richmond came to the conclusion that this so called lucky country isn t all that lucky
for marginalized groups in Australia, the literature of these marginalized groups in Australia certainly
substantiates this point .
Many sources of literature suggest that Australia is not considered the lucky country for migrants,
indigenous and other marginalized groups of people living in Australian society. Privileged
Australians would say that Australia is the lucky country and for them it may be but it certainty isn t
for everyone. So, what makes Australia appear to be the unlucky country for marginalized groups in

The new edition of My Place by Sally Morgan called Arthur Corunna s Story has been adapted for
younger readers. Arthur Corunna s comment on his own story could well stand as a comment on the
larger book: It s important, because then maybe they ll understand how hard it s been for the blackfella
to live the way he wants (Thomas, 1988). Imtinan, a 16 year old child was quoted saying, Here
[Australia] we cannot find solutions for our situation, because whenever we come up with something,
some people will say forbidden, others will say this cannot be done. In other words, we cannot do
anything (NRC, 2013).
Australia evidently is not the lucky country for the vast majority of people living there. Australia has
potential to be the lucky country for everyone living there but we choose to not embrace their cultural
values and attitudes that these marginalized groups contribute to the lucky country . These
marginalized citizens have been sidelined on the terms of development and social amenities and have
been are vulnerable to social injustices and human discomforts, hence making these groups
disadvantaged in most aspects of life. So, once again, is Australia the lucky country? Well maybe not
for all.

Negative Effects Of Social Media And Its Effects On...
Effects of Social Media on the Mental Health of University Students
Social media is unquestionably, everywhere. In spite of its recent beginnings, it has quickly become an
indispensable part of everyday lives. Social media and various websites are the most commonly used
among today s society, specifically of young adults. Social media sites include learning resources, like
blogs; image and networking pages such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter; streaming
sites such as YouTube; and interactive peer to peer gaming sites. With these platforms, the world
continues to grow smaller and smaller as social media connects every aspect of human life, benefitting
young adolescents by improving connections, communication and even practical skills needed for
adulthood. However, despite its ability to bring people together, several recent researchers share the
belief that social media has affected society negatively, most especially those who are still in school.
The problem that this essay tackles is how young adults mental health is affected by too much social
media influence. Are online actions an expression of offline behaviors? Is social media harming young
adults mental health? These topics have been argued by several researches and make for interesting
debates. Statistics from a research done by Doctors Gwenn Schurgin O Keeffe and Kathleen Clarke
Pearson show many mental health issues, about 50 70%, are diagnosed before the age of 18. Making

A Summary Of Operant Conditioning ABA
ABA is built on B.F. Skinner s theory of operant conditioning: the idea that behavior can be taught by
controlling the consequences to actions. The primary way that the teaching is performed is through the
use of reinforcements and the methods of Imitation, shaping, and chaining to acquire new behavior
and either increase or decrease the likelihood of a certain behaviors. Modeling and imitation are two
learning methods that goes together, you can not have one without the other. These methods refers to
mimicking through observation and later enacting the observed behavior or actions of others.
Modeling can be defined as an antecedent stimulus that evokes the imitative behavior. The model must
serve as a controlling variable for the imitative behavior (Cooper et al. 2007, p.421). If you ever

repetition. Another example of modeling would be, a 5 year old girl learning how to apply lipstick.
Every morning before work, her mother applies makeup and she sits on the bed and watches, until one
day she mimics the behavior and is successful at applying lipstick. Through modeling the client does
not necessarily need to perform the task in order to learn it the behavior; however, some children with

My Life Of Being A Teacher Essay
Growing up I always dreamed of being a teacher. I soon realized that I would not be fit for that job.
Once I broke my arm being in the hospital fascinated me. There was so many things to see. As I got
older I did a lot research and came across one job that really caught my eye. A surgical technologist. I
never knew that there was such a thing. The best part was, I got to observe and the surgery I saw was
life changing. After doing some research, I contacted a friend whom is a surgical technologist. I was
so curious to know what it was like. She told me that she s seen so many different fascinating things.
Later on, she gave me her bosses number so I could contact her. I began to ask her boss many
questions and she eventually told me I could come in and observe. I was so excited. I could hardly
wait. I was finally going see something I never thought I would. Before I could do anything though, I
had to fill out a ton of papers. Some of the statements on the paper had me a little worried. Like how I
could catch a disease if I wasn t careful in there. The next morning, I got up early and got ready to go
watch surgeries. I was so excited I got there an hour early. Walking into the hospital was a little nerve
wracking. I had no clue where anything was, or who anyone was. When I finally reached my
destination, they took me to the lockers. There I changed into scrubs, a hair net, shoe covers and a
mask to cover my face. At first, I was confused on why I need shoe covers but one

Florence Gith Joyner Analysis
Sometime in the summer, a silver bearded prophet came to my house. He discerned pain here, he said,
staring into my mother s eyes. The prophet held her hands and spoke softly until she told him about
her nightmares, about how she was a Christian woman but lived in pain and slept without peace.
Strolling into the living room, the prophet laid a stack of cards across the coffee table. These intuited
the sources and meanings of dreams, he said as we sat on the couch. He arranged the cards in a way
that made my mother cry. For Satan roamed free through the house, the cards showed, through the
witchcraft in the books.
We didn t read Harry Potter, Mom replied.
But there s where so many Christians were fooled, the prophet said. I remember leaning ... Show more

I forgot about the books I had hidden. Every day, I did my homework mechanically. I went to bed on
time. Then, I read every book I had left three times or more. I memorized The Hollow Men before I
knew what it meant. I can still recite the biography of Florence Griffith Joyner. I still know every short
story written and illustrated by Joni Eareckson Tada.
When I finally cleaned my room, I found Heir Apparent. I stared at it for a while, in its hiding spot. I
held it to my chest and smelled the pages. I decided to relocate it to my bed so I could read it later that
night, which is when I found the two Artemis Fowl books. I read all three, cover to cover, overnight.
Then, I returned them to their hiding places. I did this at least once a week until my mother forgot
what those books were about, and then I placed them in the science section of my library. My mother
says she has not had a nightmare since.
The prophet died the year that I went to college. After that, my mother forgot why she, as she
remembers, banned the Narnia books. A giant version of all seven books in the series sits on the coffee
table in our new house. My sisters read it, but I have not. I haven t re read anything that

Analysis Of Warren St. John s Outcasts United
In Warren St. John s Outcasts United, the citizens of Clarkston, Georgia had a fantasy of living in the
ideal American town. However, that fantasy stood no chance when faced with the harsh reality of life.
When a myriad of refugees from war torn countries were placed in Clarkston, the townspeople saw
their fantasy begin to slip away. Clarkston s residents disliked the influx of refugees because they
feared the thought of losing their ideal American town. The citizens were too selfish to live in such a
state of liminality as depicted by St. John. Rather than helping their neighbors, the old Clarkston
residents maintained their ideology by isolating the refugees and making it nearly impossible for the
refugees to survive or have a desirable life in Clarkston. The Clarkston residents were driven by fear
of the unknown and were reluctant to accept the refugees. Luma started a youth soccer program,
which was aimed toward the refugee children to help the younger generation of refugees fit into the
American society and lessen the tensions between the Clarkston residents and the refugees that was
evident in her generation of refugees. The Clarkston residents had to accept and become a part of the
inevitable change in their community.
To begin, the Clarkston townsfolk had to eliminate the isolation between themselves and the refugees
and accept the reality of their town changing. The refugees were set to live in apartments on one side
of the town, while a majority of the

time, however, can differ from one person to the next. At my school we have a four block schedule,

Examples Of Optimism In Candide
Folly of Optimism There was a lack of good reasoning in hopefulness and confidence about the future
in Voltaire s novel Candide. In his novel, Voltaire s character Pangloss is responsible for the novel s

Extreme cold will result in freezing rivers and ice jams. When these thaw out it will result in flooding.
No matter where the freezing takes place, the after effect will always cause flooding which will have
adverse effects on crops and vegetation. Extreme cold can cause frostbite and hypothermia. Strong
winds along with extreme cold makes the conditions feel a lot worst. The high winds take away bod
heat, making the body feel cold a lot faster. According to the New York State Climate Office, extreme
cold events in New York State occur regularly and are most common between October and March.
The northern states are the areas that are most susceptible to extreme temperatures. This is an

The Effect Of Light And Total Respiration Of The Plant...
Intro:
For all living organisms including plants, respiration is the process of converting chemical energy into
a usable form of energy (Biol 171L Lab 7). Even if an organism does not have an energy source, they
will keep respiring. For autotrophic plants, the process of obtaining energy is called photosynthesis. It
harvests solar energy, carbon dioxide, and water to form a usable form of energy (Tanaka 2009). The
factors that go into this process includes the pigment the plant possesses, and the intensity,
wavelength, and direction of the light. Plants that contain the pigment chlorophyll a are the ones we
see as the leaves of common trees, or grass.
Because chlorophyll a takes in violet blue, and orange red lights to use in photosynthesis, it reflects
green, and that is the color we see. This study investigates the relationship between the wavelength of
light and the total respiration of the plant Elodea. The purpose is to see the effect of the presence or
absence of certain wavelengths can have on the process of photosynthesis. Because Elodea is a plant
that reflects green light, it can be assumed that red lights, the complimentary color to green will be
absorbed the most contributing to the process of photosynthesis and respiration making the most
oxygen.
Methods:
In this lab, varying wavelengths were used to test how light affects photosynthesis and respiration as a
whole. The absorbance of lights from 380 nm to 720 nm of chlorophyll pigment from the Elodea
sample

Success In Norman Rockwell s Painting The Catch
What does one need to be happy? Is it a nice car? Maybe it s a new pair of shoes? What about

one s definition. Success can be defined in different ways. Success could be defined as being
financially stable, or it could be something as simple as feeling accomplished with achieved goals.
Norman Rockwell s painting The Catch offers refreshing ideas on what it means to be happy and what

Rockwell s painting suggests the idea that money is not a determining factor in happiness.
Upon further examination of Rockwell s portrait, the viewer starts to notice the smaller details and
tons of interesting objects that are only noticed after examining the painting multiple times (Venezia,

carrying. The happier boys lack pairs of shoes and have an abundance of holes in their clothing. The
somber looking boy has a clean white shirt tucked into pants, a bow around his collar, and expensive
looking fishing gear. After noting the appearance of all three boys, the viewer s eyes are drawn to the
fish that the upscale boy is carrying. His one and only fish is small not even half the size of any of the
fish the other boys caught. The clean cut boy in the center is unhappy and only has one measly fish to
show for the day s work. Meanwhile, the two underdressed boys are both carrying multiple fish of
decent size in their hands. It is surprising that the boy with expensive fishing gear only has one small
fish. Upon first glance, one would assume that the well dressed boy would have been the most
prosperous in catching the most fish. He has the most suitable fishing gear, but he did not end up
being the most fortunate when it came to catching fish. Wallace Wattles, an American author who

My Philosophy of Knowledge from the Article ‘Islam and the...
Introduction
The article Islam and the Sciences of Nature: Some Fundamental Questions , written by Dr. Mehdi
Golshani is selected to be discussed. Mehdi Golshani was born in Isfahan, Iran in 1939. He graduated
from Tehran and then California Berkeley University with a B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics with
specialization in particle physics. He is professor of physics at Sharif University of Technology,
Tehran, Iran in which he founded the Faculty of the Philosophy of Science in 1995, and has been its
chairman since then. In his thought there is no separation between the Science and Religion; the
religion and science are interrelated that without the philosophy of religion, the scientific investigation
is of no use.
Background
Knowledge, ilm, can be divided into two categories of Islamic sciences and the various other sciences
not considered theologically. According to Islamic practice, God is the most praise worthy and the
source of knowledge whose worship can be performed by knowledge acquisition if it is done for his
sake. This kind of thought which can be also noted in Illuminationism doctrine is based on the Qur
anic verse that

An Argument Against Slavery Being Good
Oscar Himpflewitz Best Answer Chosen by Voters ~The full quote, taken out of context, is: I hold that

Make no mistake: the southern states did not secede in order to protect the right own human chattel
and the north did not fight to free the slaves. Abolition came about as a matter of political expedience
and as a tool of war. For more on that issue, read the debates surrounding the passage of the
Confiscation Acts. Very few outside the vocal cadre of outspoken abolitionists were concerned with
the plight of those of African descent. On the social side, no one in the north, forget the south, wanted
an influx of uneducated, homeless, angry former slaves with no income, no means of support and no
marketable job skills into their neighborhoods. Lincoln himself wanted to settle freed slaves in
colonies to be established for the purpose in uninhabited areas of Texas and Missouri, on Caribbean
islands or in Indian Territory. He did NOT want them settling in Washington DC or in Illinois
especially, or in any other white region generally. In the north, with its ever increasing influx of
immigrants, freed slaves were not a welcome prospect. The immigrants, especially the Irish, were
despised and equated with the Africans as a sub species not capable of participating in government
and not entitled to rights of citizenship or equal protection of law and due process. Calhoun did not
voice such sentiments as loudly as did the northern intelligentsia, but he did not hide his opinion

The Influence Of Reality Television
Reality Television Educates Television has had an impact on our lives, bringing new information that
we probably haven t heard of before. It informs the viewers of lives of people who struggle with
themselves and shows the viewers how to solve them. Reality helps more people than does harm
because it educates on certain people s lives that need some educating on. These shows are improving
young audiences knowledge by spreading positive messages through blunt situations. For families, the
most viewed type of television is reality TV. The straight forward situations in the lives of the stars
show a perspective that presents a problem which is then solved by the end of the episode. When
people complain that there are fewer good tv shows for families to watch together, it s often assumed
that TV has become more vulgar and adult... TV has become more various and fragmented, it s
become more specific (James Poniewozik). Television has a certain group they want to target and that
has a message spreading positive awareness. Reality TV teaches the younger viewers on how to
handle life situations and the life of others that they might not know about. These messages inspire the
other party positively and develops more knowledge for the younger people. The spark of confidence
in the younger crowd is mainly from reality TV. Girls who watch reality tv ... thinking of themselves

Tfr Case Study
This paper explores the events that contributed to the ambush of Task Force Ranger (TFR) and their
Pyrrhic victory over the Somali National Alliance (SNA) from 3 4 October 1993. The majority of
military and political historians concur that the Battle of Mogadishu hastened the departure of a
tenuous US military presence in Somalia. TF Ranger was successful in accomplishing their objective
of capturing six key lieutenants of Somali Warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid, but failed in the ensuing
extraction due to a complex ambush perpetrated by the SNA militia. This paper aims to illuminate the
intelligence failures and how these factors effected the events of the battle. A comprehensive summary
of the battle will lead to an analysis of the key actions and decisions, building to a possible outcome.

The Issue Of India Is Illiteracy
Abstract The most significant issue in India is Illiteracy. Literacy along with awareness among the
masses will enable the curb of social evils. Movies have the power to reach massive audiences, which
is why they should, and do, matter so much to society. Only bookish knowledge is not sufficient to
change the society. Gone are the days when we were followers. In 21st century we have to be
trendsetter. Every person has his new story. We have to visualize ourselves. We need to recognize us.
This is happened only in cinema. All of life s riddles are answered in the movies Key words: literacy,
trendsetter, recognize, visualize 1. Introduction India has faced and still facing many social, political
and economic issues. However every social problem is inter related. The most significant issue in
India is Illiteracy. Literacy along with awareness among the masses will enable the curb of social
evils. Only by educating the masses, can there be change and progress in the country. Cinema as the
most popular media can directly influence the masses by making them see the world around them in
an artistic way and think positively and act proactively. Indian cinema which is now a century old has
recently undergone a change and is fast emerging as a delightful medium of instruction, and
motivational. Recently many films have been produced that aim at exploiting and utilizing creativity
for educating the people. I have divided the role of cinema on social welfare under four heads;

The Dishonest In Kurt Vonnegut s The Lie
Lying is done with words, and also with silence. Adrienne Rich had once said. That means or shows us
that you can tell a lie even when you don t say something when you should be speaking up about it. In
the story, The Lie, by Kurt Vonnegut, Eli lies by not speaking up while his father, Dr. Remenzel, lies
with words straight in front of others. This is where the theme of being dishonest can turn out to
become a bigger problem than you may have expected shows many times within the story.

Pope Pius XII and the Jews Essay
The twentieth century was marked by genocides on an monstrous scale. One of the most terrible was
the Holocaust wrought by Nazi Germany, which killed an estimated six million European Jews and
almost as many other victims.
During this dark time, the Catholic Church was shepherded by Pope Pius XII, who proved himself an
untiring foe of the Nazis, determined to save as many Jewish lives as he could. Yet today Pius XII gets
almost no credit for his actions before or during the war.
Anti Catholic author Dave Hunt writes, quot; The Vatican had no excuse for its Nazi partnership or for

The scientists then did numerous experiments in the laboratory to figure out that a retrovirus, HIV,
was the cause of AIDS. They then inoculated different species, including rabbits and chimpanzees, to
see what would be the outcome. Of the nonhuman primates only chimpanzees and gibbon apes could
be infected with HIV in such a way that the virus could reisolated from the inoculated animals and that
antibodies were produced against HIV proteins (Garattini and Van Bekkum, 1990 p 153). The chimps

to the solution of the AIDS problem, there is a great need for animal models for some burning

This introduction brought about the first real signs of competition within computing history, which
helped to create faster and better computers . Over the course of the next few years, inventors all over
the world began to search more into the study of computers, and how to improve upon them. Those
next ten years say the introduction of the transistor, which would become a vital part of the inner
workings of the computer, the ENIAC 1 computer, as well as many other types of systems. The
ENIAC 1 is perhaps one of the most interesting, as it required 20,000 vacuum tubes to operate. It was
a massive machine, and started the revolution to build smaller and faster computers . Technology
began with the earliest hominids that used stone tools , which they may have used to start fires, hunt,

  • 2. The International Standards Organization ( Iso ) The International Standards Organization (ISO) produces guidelines for organizations to use as a quality management tool. ISO functions as an independent organization with no governmental ties, allowing themselves to create guidelines that are not catered more specifically to one country than another. One hundred and sixty two national standards bodies make up its membership and they help supply experts who will share knowledge and develop international standards. These voluntary, market relevant, and consensus based standards are produced as a result of the identification of a global need and are compiled through the work of international experts working in conjunction with one another. In 1987, the first version of ISO guidelines was released. It was heavily based on the older UK Standard BS 5750 with three kinds of quality management systems. An organization would select one of these systems by evaluating the scope of their activities (The British Assessment Bureau). ISO 9001:1987 Model for quality assurance in design, development, productions, installation, and servicing was developed for companies and organizations who dealt with creating new products. The 9002 version, Model for quality assurance in production, installation, and servicing was nearly identical to ISO 9001 with the exception of not dealing with new product creation. ISO 9003:1987 Model for quality assurance in final inspection and test only detailed the inspection of the finished product and ignored how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Running head: ASSIGNMENT 1 ADMN 232 Assignment 1 ADMN 232 Administrative Principles Athabasca University As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, the world s largest producer of potash, Wayne Brownlee has endured more turbulent financial volatility with a calm and confident ease than many in his position would be capable of. The primary group, which includes their customers, investors, and community leaders, are surveyed each year with a report of the results going to the board of directors. The secondary group includes the media and critics of commercial fertilizers in modern agriculture, many of whom are concerned about environmental and safety impacts. These stakeholders also comprise much of the specific environment. Great communication between Mr. Brownlee and the Corporate Relations department with the critics, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies are essential for success. In knowing the market and their competition, PotashCorp has positioned itself for the exponential growth in world food demand by reinvesting in their own company. Competitors desires for a new greenfield mine project are a big gamble. It would cost more than $2.8 billion dollars plus infrastructure costs in a tight credit market and take five to seven years to build. By proceeding with multi billion dollar expansions of their existing facilities, Mr. Brownlee demonstrates conceptual skills and the planning function, enabling his company to meet this growth in the most cost effective and efficient manner possible. Instead of blindly searching for the black or white answers, we must defeat the enemy by moving toward common ground. Currently in politics, we see the negative effect of polarization as the presidential campaign has become candidate centered rather than issue centered. We see the candidates resort to bully like tactics where they attack each other personally, rather than focusing on the issues at hand. While it is said that polarity is an integral part of nature, we need our differences to bring us together as a whole, rather than drive us apart. Polarization is inevitable due to the unique design of every individual, but issues are seen as either black or white, when really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imtinan, a 16 year old child was quoted saying, Here [Australia] we cannot find solutions for our situation, because whenever we come up with something, some people will say forbidden, others will say this cannot be done. Australia has potential to be the lucky country for everyone living there but we choose to not embrace their cultural values and attitudes that these marginalized groups contribute to the lucky country . These marginalized citizens have been sidelined on the terms of development and social amenities and have been are vulnerable to social injustices and human discomforts, hence making these groups disadvantaged in most aspects of life. • 7. Negative Effects Of Social Media And Its Effects On... Effects of Social Media on the Mental Health of University Students Social media is unquestionably, everywhere. In spite of its recent beginnings, it has quickly become an indispensable part of everyday lives. Social media and various websites are the most commonly used among today s society, specifically of young adults. Social media sites include learning resources, like blogs; image and networking pages such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter; streaming sites such as YouTube; and interactive peer to peer gaming sites. With these platforms, the world continues to grow smaller and smaller as social media connects every aspect of human life, benefitting young adolescents by improving connections, communication and even practical skills needed for adulthood. However, despite its ability to bring people together, several recent researchers share the belief that social media has affected society negatively, most especially those who are still in school. The problem that this essay tackles is how young adults mental health is affected by too much social media influence. Are online actions an expression of offline behaviors? Is social media harming young adults mental health? These topics have been argued by several researches and make for interesting debates. There was so many things to see. As I got older I did a lot research and came across one job that really caught my eye. A surgical technologist. I never knew that there was such a thing. The best part was, I got to observe and the surgery I saw was life changing. After doing some research, I contacted a friend whom is a surgical technologist. I was so curious to know what it was like. She told me that she s seen so many different fascinating things. Later on, she gave me her bosses number so I could contact her. I began to ask her boss many questions and she eventually told me I could come in and observe. I was so excited. I could hardly wait. I was finally going see something I never thought I would. Before I could do anything though, I had to fill out a ton of papers. Some of the statements on the paper had me a little worried. Like how I could catch a disease if I wasn t careful in there. The next morning, I got up early and got ready to go watch surgeries. I was so excited I got there an hour early. Walking into the hospital was a little nerve wracking. I had no clue where anything was, or who anyone was. When I finally reached my destination, they took me to the lockers. The prophet held her hands and spoke softly until she told him about her nightmares, about how she was a Christian woman but lived in pain and slept without peace. Strolling into the living room, the prophet laid a stack of cards across the coffee table. These intuited the sources and meanings of dreams, he said as we sat on the couch. He arranged the cards in a way that made my mother cry. For Satan roamed free through the house, the cards showed, through the witchcraft in the books. We didn t read Harry Potter, Mom replied. I stared at it for a while, in its hiding spot. I held it to my chest and smelled the pages. I decided to relocate it to my bed so I could read it later that night, which is when I found the two Artemis Fowl books. I read all three, cover to cover, overnight. Then, I returned them to their hiding places. I did this at least once a week until my mother forgot what those books were about, and then I placed them in the science section of my library. • 13. Analysis Of Warren St. John s Outcasts United In Warren St. John s Outcasts United, the citizens of Clarkston, Georgia had a fantasy of living in the ideal American town. However, that fantasy stood no chance when faced with the harsh reality of life. When a myriad of refugees from war torn countries were placed in Clarkston, the townspeople saw their fantasy begin to slip away. Clarkston s residents disliked the influx of refugees because they feared the thought of losing their ideal American town. The citizens were too selfish to live in such a state of liminality as depicted by St. John. Rather than helping their neighbors, the old Clarkston residents maintained their ideology by isolating the refugees and making it nearly impossible for the refugees to survive or have a desirable life in Clarkston. • 20. The Effect Of Light And Total Respiration Of The Plant... Intro: For all living organisms including plants, respiration is the process of converting chemical energy into a usable form of energy (Biol 171L Lab 7). Even if an organism does not have an energy source, they will keep respiring. For autotrophic plants, the process of obtaining energy is called photosynthesis. It harvests solar energy, carbon dioxide, and water to form a usable form of energy (Tanaka 2009). The factors that go into this process includes the pigment the plant possesses, and the intensity, wavelength, and direction of the light. Plants that contain the pigment chlorophyll a are the ones we see as the leaves of common trees, or grass. Because chlorophyll a takes in violet blue, and orange red lights to use in photosynthesis, it reflects green, and that is the color we see. This study investigates the relationship between the wavelength of light and the total respiration of the plant Elodea. The purpose is to see the effect of the presence or absence of certain wavelengths can have on the process of photosynthesis. Because Elodea is a plant that reflects green light, it can be assumed that red lights, the complimentary color to green will be absorbed the most contributing to the process of photosynthesis and respiration making the most oxygen. Methods: In this lab, varying wavelengths were used to test how light affects photosynthesis and respiration as a whole. The day after his election, the Berlin Morgenpost said: The election of cardinal Pacelli is not accepted with favor in Germany because he was always opposed to Nazism and practically determined the policies of the Vatican under his predecessor. quot; [4] Former Israeli diplomat and now Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Pinchas Lapide states that Pius XI quot;had good reason to make Pacelli the architect of his anti Nazi policy. Opponents of animal testing point out the amount of animals used and the different types of animals used but if you look at it, it s all for a good reason. Animal experimenters don t do this just to do it. It s for a purpose. There are thousands upon thousands of medical situations that couldn t have been done without animal experimenting. Animal suffering is pointed out but for the most part animals go without feeling any pain. Animal experimentation has helped advance us so much medically that no matter what extent of suffering you find or what type of alternatives you find, it will never fully disappear. The scientists then did numerous experiments in the laboratory to figure out that a retrovirus, HIV, was the cause of AIDS. They then inoculated different species, including rabbits and chimpanzees, to see what would be the outcome. Of the nonhuman primates only chimpanzees and gibbon apes could be infected with HIV in such a way that the virus could reisolated from the inoculated animals and that antibodies were produced against HIV proteins (Garattini and Van Bekkum, 1990 p 153). The chimps were then observed for 4 6 years and nothing seemed to be wrong therefore it seemed warranted to state that chimpanzees are relatively resistant to the pathogenic action of HIV (Garattini and Van Bekkum, 1990 p 154). Although animal experiments have not contributed to the discovery of HIV nor to the solution of the AIDS problem, there is a great need for animal models for some burning questions in AIDS research (Garattini and Van Bekkum, 1990 p 154). Some of these questions being What is the cause of the T helper cell depletion in AIDS patients? What is the cause of presenile dementia in HIV infected individuals? Do microbial factors have an influence on the development of AIDS? (Garattini and Van Bekkum, 1990 p 154 5). Animal experimentation has really helped finding solutions when it comes to having problems in the brain. A drug was discovered called Chlorpormazine. Luckily, Martin still coached us and still coaches us to this very day! As camp began we became pretty close as a team.
