To Be True to Yourself in a World That Is Constantly...
To be true to yourself in a world that is constantly making you something else is a great achievement
All of us possess qualities that differentiate us from other human beings. These distinguishing features
could be more or less highlighted in appearance, mindset or capabilities, but they will always persist
and determine the nature of our personality. Unfortunately these characteristic attributes are
deteriorating as humanity is moulding us into the perfect person influencing us to stray away from
who we are (our so called insignificant selves) to what is desirable (a flawless model). Staying true to
yourself means to stick to what you believe in and being whom you were meant to be, it means not
sacrificing who you are to fit in with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Anastasia Goodstein, from Huffington Post, 80 percent of girls have purchased an item
as a result of an ad in a teen magazine and 63 percent trust magazine ads. As a result girls become
convinced that they require particular fashions to belong in a society that emphasizes materialism.
Moreover, most of the fashion, diet and lifestyle advice is directed toward being desirable to men.
Magazines stress sexuality as a central identity, minimizing all other attributes. The girls reading teen
magazines begin to digest and trust the message that they are only sexual objects.
Peer pressure is the influence exerted by a social group or an individual, encouraging other persons to
change their attitudes, values, or behaviours in order to conform to group norms. Peer pressure is most
commonly associated with youth, in part because most youth spend large amounts of time in schools
and other fixed groups that they do not choose and are seen as lacking the maturity to handle pressure
from friends. Peer pressure can also have positive effects when people are pressured toward positive
behaviour, such as volunteering for charity or excelling in academics or athletics, by their peers.
However Risk taking behaviour is seemingly the most common as these same people engage in

My Journey
The journey of life is not meant to be feared and planned; it s meant to be traveled and enjoyed.
Waking up every morning, I still can t believe it s been almost two years since I moved to America. I
mean it s crazy, one year ago all the street signs are in Chinese and the next thing you know I wake up
in a world of English. I can still remember the day I step off the airplane, it was a day that changed my
life. Some of my friends were amazed by how quickly I adapted to America, but that s not true. I had a
transition year when I was 13. I have to say; I m feeling very different from two years ago when I first
walk into a world where everyone speaks English. What most of my friends don t know is that I didn t
go to Jericho straightway; I was in Syosset for 8th grade. I remember walking into the building for the
first time. My heart was pounding; I was sweating. I reported to the administrator, and I was taken to
the classroom by the social study teacher (kind of a leading teacher of the class). I walked through the
classroom door, and I sort of had a panic attack when everybody looked at me. God, I really wish I
was dead or something at that moment. I have to say how I landed in that school was a mystery to
solve. In the entire school building including staff members, I m probably the only atheist there. Every
Wednesday the whole class spends about 3 periods on Mass. On my first Wednesday there, which is
surprising also my first day there, I felt

Why People Wear Seatbelts
Deciding what to compose my essay of was no easy task. As a sixteen year old girl, many things today
anger or irritate me. I have a different outlook on life than most people, therefore, things that might
not bother the average teen girl infuriate me. After reflecting on the subject for a long time, I finally
came to the conclusion that nothing bothers me more than when people don t wear seat belts whenever
they operate or ride in a vehicle. Maybe it s perhaps because I have seen many wonderful people pass
away simply because they couldn t click their seat belt or maybe it s because wearing a seat belt is
logical, but some people still don t seem to understand. In today s modern world, there are a lot of
inventions that help make our life easier and safer. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Something that irritates me is when people, who obviously know right from wrong, don t use their
seatbelts. There s a reason why not wearing a seatbelt is illegal and enforced in most states. The
leading cause of death among is teens is vehicle accidents. In 2012 it was reported that in half of the
deaths, the person was no not wearing any type or restraint or seatbelt. Meaning 33,000 people died
and another 2.2 million were injured. This has a consequence and as a teenager myself, it makes me
sad to think that kids, just like me, had their life cut short. Many of them could ve went to college,
pursue a career, become the world s future doctors, businessmen, and leaders. Most people don t know
what they re risking when they don t buckle up. In addition to the tragedy

Auschwitz Mental Health
The brutal concentration camp of all that existed had the most survivors. Auschwitz was the
concentration camp on the darkest side of humanity. It was served as a prison and death was a
permanent feature. Brutal abuse like gas chambers, crematoriums, and starvation were punishments
the prisoners at Auschwitz experienced. The physical health of the prisoners was very unhealthy . The
conditions that they lived in were so awful, many prisoners died each day without being gassed
(Feldman 247). There were also many cases of Epidemic disease (Pelt). Day and night, the prisoners
struggled to survive with the lack of sleep, clothing, and privacy (Dwork and Pelt). If there were

New Weapon Inventions In World War I
In Washington D.C., 1917 is when president Woodrow Wilson called to be in the military. The new
weapon inventions that helped us win, the effects on woman when I got back home, and my health .I
was sad when I had to leave my family. I had a four year old son and a six year old daughter.
In World War I there was a lot of new weapon inventions. There were flamethrowers, machine guns,
airplanes, tanks, poison gas, etc. The weapons in world war 1 was one of the main reasons we won the
war. It helped us kill more enemies. It was a bad thing too. They could use the same weapons against
you and kill just as much soldiers as your army does. In the future maybe 90 to a 100 years from now
the weapons will get way better then what they are now.

Symbolism In A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner
Love can distill rage into individuals when it is not mutual. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner,
things begin to go south as Emily Grierson encounters her biggest fear: change. Ms. Emily is viewed
as a monument and chore to her community. After her father s death, her world seems to flow
accordingly behind his passing. Meanwhile, her emotional health declines in conjunction with her
physical surroundings. Emily Grierson suffers from emotional decay due to isolation by her father,
unrequited love, and unrealistic expectations from the townspeople causing her to embrace murder.
Although Ms. Emily s father was dead, he still had mental control over her endeavors. She was left
feeling vulnerable and open to love from a male. Emily knew no love outside of her father s grasp.
Faulkner writes how after her father s death, people hardly saw her at all (sec.2 para.2). It was
understood around the community that no man was good enough for Ms. Emily, according to her
father. Faulkner expresses symbolism as he describes Emily as a slender figure in white in the
background... and her father as a spraddled silhouette in the foreground... clutching a horsewhip (sec.2
para.13). By describing her father as a silhouette , Faulkner directly foreshadows her father s role in
her current life succeeding his death. He acts as a shadow behind her, foreshadowing her long term
emotional instability. Because of his confinement, Ms. Emily was robbed of the experience of any

Economic Development
Introduction Governments the world over have long been investing in infrastructure in the hope of
boosting economic development of their country. To study the relationship between infrastructure and
economic development, we compared two journals; Infrastructure and Local Economic Development
by Rives, J amp; Heaney, M. (1995) and Infrastructure and Economic Growth: The Nigeria
Experience 1980 2006 by Enimola, S (2010). We chose these journals as the journal by Rives, J
looked at the approach on a community/state level whereas the journal by Enimola, S looked at it at a
national level. Hence, we were able to look at the topic at a micro and macro level. We compared the
objectives of both journals, along with the methodological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Charlemagne Pros And Cons
Known as The King of the Franks, Charlemagne inherited half of his father s kingdom at his death in
AD 768 and took over the other half at his brother s death in AD 771. In keeping with the tradition of
his predecessors, Charlemagne s reign was characterized by three decades of military campaigns.
During his reign, Charlemagne led campaigns against the Saxons, the Lombards, Spain and Bavaria.
His empire extended from Saxony in the North to the Spanish March in the South and Italy in the
West. Charlemagne was officially named as the first Roman Emperor by the Pope in late AD 800. He
remained emperor until AD 814.
Charlemagne ruled as king but relied on an inner circle of trusted advisors. He also relied on counts to

Reflective Practice
As pointed out before, RP is a trending topic nowadays but also confusing. The ambiguity and the
overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). Boud 1985 p.8 points
out that it is not a single facet term but a generic/umbrella one that involves a range of ideas and
activities. In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different
definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice
There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of
learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay,
2008 p.1}. It involves the examination of daily practical assumptions, the self awareness of the
practitioner and the critical evaluation of the own action. RP breaks the assumption that reflection
happens ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This definition links feelings and cognition. It also presumes an intentional activity, or purpose
learning (Moon, Amulya date) which is in line with many definitions of reflection (Dewey, Moon).
However, reflection could be only thinking about something, and not necessary in a deeply, carefully
or purposefully way. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of reflection (see van
manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the highest or the most
important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow (1990) contemplated
reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply thinking about
experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the assumptions on which our
beliefs and values have developed (hickson p.

Is The Vice President s Comments About Cost And Schedule...
1. Are the vice president s comments about cost and schedule variance correct?
Yes! As we have seen in the case study the Spokane industries are very particular about the earned
value reports, as we seen in the reports that the Franklin electronics provided is seemed to be a very
basic according their view. The values of cost variance at the 2nd month are like 6K, 2K, 3K, 3K, here
the total comes to 14k ($14,000) and the same cost variance in the following month are presented as
7K, 3K, 5K, 10K ($25,000) respectively, so here we can see that the values that were provided in the
2nd month are less than 3/4th of the 3rd month. Comes to the scheduling variance the values given to
the 2nd month are said to be 8K, 1K, 2K, 20K ($31,000), the 3rd month calculations are in the order
12K, 3K, 4K, 26K ($45,000), so by seeing this we can easily say that the scheduling variance is
overrated nearly 50% of its value in the previous month. So, whatever the sponsor said in the case
study is true.
I hope their main aim for the need of these earned value reports is to reduce the interchange meetings
and to finish the project within the basic 3 constraints of a project management. That is why they
opted a formalized project management. From the case study it is very easy for us to make sure that
they believed earned value reports are some techniques to avoid the interchange meetings. The
reduction in interchange meetings automatically reduces time for discussing the completed work

I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay
Introduction
My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular and
extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my potential.
In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from colleagues over the
last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and weaknesses, and work style and
leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self assessment analysis based upon qualitative
and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences and exercises during this semester. I have
identified three broad themes that incorporate several subthemes representing my current abilities,
preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix 1). Further, I have developed my action plan for
the next semester to enhance my strengths and learn new skills, which are critical for my future career
growth, to overcome my weaknesses.
Self assessment
Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented
Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always action
and performance oriented. My print assessment shows that generally I am not fond of exhaustive
planning or grueling analysis; I prefer things moving forward. I am spontaneous and able to take risks.
In addition, my self confidence has a calming effect on others while at the same time mobilizing them
to take action ( Paul Hertz Group | PRINT Survey | Unconscious

Robert Lorway s Defiant Desire
Review of
Defiant Desire in Namibia Robert Lorway delivers a feminist perspective with his ethnography,
Defiant Desire in Namibia . Lorway examines sexuality as both a social construct and a political one.
While this ethnography provides unparalleled information about gender and sexuality in the poorer
world, there are a few important flaws, such as the lack of information about radical ideas or behavior,
neglect of his own bias, and the length of the ethnography.
My ethnography of choice was, Defiant Desire in Namibia: Female sexual gender transgression and
the making of political being. Written by Robert Lorway from the University of Manitoba. Lorway

These were his metaphorical backstage passes into their secretive culture.
In this ethnography, Lorway analyzes female sexual desire and the challenges these women face. He
discusses problems with their president, their families, their employment and the aggression against
them. Many of these women reported being stabbed multiple times by both women and men. They
also claimed that it is not uncommon for women to be raped in Namibia, and being lesbians give them
a better sense of security. HIV is extremely prevent in Namibian society, and some of these women
even report a fear of sleeping with men for this reason. Lorway arrived in Namibia in 2001, shortly
after their president announced that all LGBT peoples would be thrown in prison. One women who
was incarcerated was thankful for the consistent food and shelter. During rough times, these lesbians
would become prostitutes as well, despite the fact that they were not sexually attracted to men.
Overall, these working class lesbians faced numerous hardships, with little support outside of their
organizations The Rainbow Project and Sister Namibia. They also preferred in most cases to use the
western labels, such as lesbian , despite the government s attempt to claim that homosexuality in
unnatural and a western cultural import.
The theory of feminism is prominent in this ethnography. The author is extremely

How Did The October Revolution Affect The Bolsheviks
After overthrowing the Provisional Government and forming the Sovnarkom socialist government in
the October Revolution (1917), the Bolsheviks were hampered by problems that arose over social,
political and economic factors, however to consolidate their power, they used means of sabotage and
appeasing the population. Many decrees were published to placate the masses, such as the Decree on
land and the Decree on Workers Control, to control the economic situation. Politically, the Bolsheviks
formed the Cheka to expose and investigate all counter revolutionary and criminal activities. What
sparked the consolidation of power was the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly.
Economically, the Bolsheviks set decrees based on land and factories to ... Show more content on

The Bolsheviks were concerned about their abilitiy to remain in control. This is because the October
Revolution (1917) came too late to prevent the elections of the All Russian Constituent Assembly
from going ahead in November as planned. The voting (12 15 November 1917) occurred and the
results dismayed the Bolsheviks. Although they had won 175 seats in the assembly, they were
outvoted by nearly two to one by the SRs who won 370/707 seats and had the majority with 52%.
Lenin was worried about the results and believed that they had no need of an assembly because to
hand over power to the Constituent Assembly would again be to compromise with the malignant
bourgeoisie. With this mentality in mind, Lenin urged the Bolsheviks to dissolve the Constituent
Assembly. This occurred on 5 January 1918 when, after a long day of negotiations and disagreements
between the Bolsheviks and Left SRs and Mensheviks and Right SRs, the meeting ended at 5am.
When the delegates arrived at 5pm for the reconvened session, they found that the Tauride Palace was
locked and guarded by Bolshevik troops who presented them with a decree declaring that the
Constituent Assembly has been dissolved. The Bolsheviks believed that the machine gun became for
them the principle instrument of political persuasion, (Richard Pipes) which outlined their motives
behind dissolving the assembly. This contributed to formation of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist
Republic (RSFSR), who formally came into being (19 July 1918), which allowed the Bolsheviks to
remain firmly in power. Thus, concluding that the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly allowed the
Bolsheviks to establish the RSFSR, which ultimately consolidated their power at that

Summary Of Gerry Garibaldi s How The Schools Shortchange...
In Gerry Garibaldi s essay, How the Schools Shortchange the Boys, he argues that the feministic
learning of the public school systems detrimentally affects males learning because boys are often
identified as special ed and leave the classroom with only the resiliency of survival. However,
Garibaldi s arguments are biased, misguided, and fail to see how the application of the male nature can
be successful in a feministic learning style, so we should not agree with his claims. In order to
understand Garibaldis claims, what his version of feminist learning is must be explained. He spends
time discussing the current style of teaching, and then defines feminist learning as, the method [that]
addresses the need to teach all students in a classroom where academic abilities vary greatly where
there is heterogeneous grouping, to use the ed school jargon meaning kids with IQs of 55 sit side by
side with the gifted (537). He says this with as much negative tone as a person can fit in a sentence.
What part of that is feminist? Garibaldi describes a school environment that tries to relieve all
boundaries of mental ability, in order to benefit the entire classroom, not the girls in the classroom.
Personally, being a girl who has been identified as gifted, it s not my favorite type of learning. I am
forced to group with people for whom I spend every 10 seconds explaining the teacher s simple
directions. During my eighth grade year, my male science teacher paired me with my associate who
constantly asked questions. Mr. Grace made it my job to answer this classmate s non stop questions
because it drew away from the lesson when my peer asked the teacher to repeat himself. How exactly
that helps my learning, I have no idea, but I don t have so much as a clue about how this is a feministic
point of view. Is the school system feministic or he just a masculist? Not only his definition of
feminist leaves unanswered questions, Garibaldi also opens himself up for criticism in his diction.
When introducing his first supporting reason, Garibaldi states, it is boys aggressive and rationalist
nature redefined as a behavioral disorder that s getting so many of them in trouble in the feminized
schools. Their problem:

Lace Font Wigs
Today s women want style, comfort and convenience when it comes to their hair. One way to get all
these features is to wear a lace front wig. A favorite look for many of the top celebrities and with the
reduced price on the market the go to option for the average fashionista. The lace encompasses half of
the front of the wig and users can choose to part in the middle or on either side. Lace font wigs use
glues and tapes to attach to the front hairline. After the glue undergoes the drying process, the front
lace portion is attached to the glued area, which creates a secure bond to keep the wig secured on the
head. It is important for the glue to be applied properly. If not applied properly, the lace may not stay
in place. Using too much glue

Psychoanalytical Criticism of “a Good Man Is Hard to Find”
Psychoanalytical Criticism of A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A seemingly innocent family vacation can turn into a disaster if the members of the family only care
about themselves. In the story A Good Man Is Hard To Find by Flannery O Connor, a self absorbed
Grandmother, too consumed with her own opinions, fails to address the views, feelings and overall
well being of others. Her family is not much different in their self interested ways. This leads them
straight to the Misfit whose childhood trauma has caused him to grow up into a damaged individual.

According to Freud, the unconscious [mind] continues to influence our behavior and experience, even
though we are unaware of these underlying influences (Cherry). So, because of this, he sacrifices
humanity to deal with the pain and thinks nothing of it. Another reason for killing his father could be
he was suffering from the Oedipal Complex. The Misfit says, God never made a finer woman than my
mother (O Connor). The Oedipal Complex would refer that the Misfit has, fallen in love with one
parent and developed hatred for the other (Gill). His desire for his mother drove him to eliminate his
father. Unlike the Grandmother, religion was not a factor for the Misfit. He thought God, shown
everything off balance (O Connor). He believed rationally only what he could sense. O Connor made
this one of the Misfit s greatest faults. To Summarize, the Misfit s experiences and religious disbelief
kept him from being a recognizably good person in O Connor s eyes. Though the family did not turn
to violence like the Misfit, they still had their own set of issues. The other members of the family seem
to be embodiments of society s most self interested and materialistic. O Connor illustrates that with
each generation of this family, there were no positive role models. Each generation had no effective

Whale Done By Ken Blanchard
In his novel Whale Done, Ken Blanchard illustrates the power that his Whale Done strategy can have
on a manager s relationships, not only with his employees but also with his family and friends.
Blanchard argues that his strategies, including redirection and accentuating the positive, can make a
major difference in work and family relationships. He believes that these strategies will increase
employee productivity and forge stronger relationships through positive interactions. In an easy to

Blanchard illustrates this when Jim Barnes implicitly threatens Wes Kingsley s job because Wes is
being too soft. Jim assumes that since Wes, like every worker, lacks motivation and wants to do as
little as possible while still collecting a pay check, it is his responsibility to provide a direct reward or
punishment in order to ensure Wes s performance. This contrasts sharply with the style Wes learns
from Shamu and the Seaworld team, who believe that trust between whale and trainer (in Wes s case,
manager and employee) is most important. This falls in line with Theory Y management in its belief
that under proper, caring (WRONG WORD) management, workers can be self motivated and flourish.
Similar to how Dave Yardley believes Shamu inherently enjoys performing (when treated well),
Theory Y/Whale Done managers trust that their workers want to succeed and welcome responsibility
above the bare minimum. The managers believe that it is just as much in their employees nature to
work and complete tasks as it is to rest or play. Both Blanchard and MacGregor illustrate that Theory
Y/Whale Done management is clearly best not only for employee morale, but also productivity. When

Islamic Golden Age Research Paper
The Islamic Golden Age was a time of development and change. This period lasted from 632 to 1258
CE. It began with the death of Muhammad and ended with the Mongols invading Baghdad. During the
time between these two major events, many things were invented and discovered, and many wars took
place. Muhammad, the final prophet of Islam, died in Medina after a short illness in 632 CE. Abu
Bakr, the father of Muhammad s favorite wife, A isha, was his successor. Abu Bakr continued with
Muhammad s teachings. He ordered the people who had written down Muhammad s teachings to
collect them into a book called the Quran. There were many Caliphs after Abu Bakr. However, due to
the split of Muslims into Shi ites and Sunnis, all except for Abu Bakr were killed. The Abbasid

Swot Of Red Bull
Background
Red bull is the market leader in energy drinks. Red bull was found by Dietrich Matchitz while he was
visiting Thailand. Technially the formula was made by a man named Chaleo Yoovidhy, who was
providing to people to help keep them awake. In Thailand it was reffered to as Krating Daeng.
Dietrich tried out krating daeng himself and discovered that it works, primarly because it helped him
with jet lag. Dietrich went back to Thailand and collaborated with chaleo into making it a better
tasting formula and naming the product Red Bull. Red Bulls popular slogan red bull gives you wings
brought consumer awareness to the drink. Red bull became popular to men, athletes, students who
need cram in a study session and those who work graveyard shift. By 2010 Red Bull was made
available in 162 countries. Red bulls main main competitors are Rockstar and Monster energy drinks.
Also big corporations such as coca cola and pepsi. However coca cola and pepsi do not hold much

Health And Social Care Sector
Over the last couple of centuries, western countries adopted a range of alternative therapies from all
over the world, such as: Acupuncture, yoga, reflexology, herbal supplements, acupressure,
homeopathy, aroma therapy, hypnosis, mud therapy, etc.
Through the enthusiasm of alternative medicine by patients, the health and social care sector comes
across to: ethical issues of efficacy, training, competence and patient safety, according to (Nursing
times ,2005). Therefore, it is important to understand the principles behind complementary therapies
and their usage.
Currently, in the UK more than five million people a year consult complementary practitioners,
according to (Nursing times,2005). This trend continue increase, but not everybody sees an
advantages in alternative medicine. In 2006, doctors across the UK complaint to the NHS Trust, to
stop funding bogus and unproven treatments . Furthermore, the doctors argued that: pumping money
into treatments like massage, homeopathy and reflexology are unacceptable in light of widespread
staff cuts and ward closures, according to (Therapy Directory,2013).
Another significant factor that people stop to access complementary therapies are; patients have to pay
for the therapy private. For patients who need a long term treatment, can this become very expensive,
as the NHS do not fund alternative medicine.
Considered must be also the accessibility of complementary therapies. Which means, that for example,

Rhetorical Devices
Women s rights is an issue that needed to be rectified. Malala Yousafzai and Hillary Clinton use
rhetorical devices such as logos, allusion, and repetition in their speeches. Address to the United
Nations, July 2013 and Excerpts from speech given for the United Nations Fourth World Conference
on Women, 1995 are the speeches used to stress the importance of women and their rights.
Primarily, Hillary uses the rhetorical device logos to persuade the audience of why women s rights are
important. According to paragraph 5 in her speech, she states, Women comprise more than half the
world s population, 70% of the world s poor, and two thirds of those who are not taught to read and
write. We are the primary caretakers for most of the world s children and elderly. Yet much of the
work we do is not valued not by economists, not by historians, not by popular culture, not by
government leaders. She uses statistics to show that although women do a great amount for this world,
their work isn t valued making them seem less important than their male counterparts.
Continually, the second rhetorical device used to emphasize the importance of women s rights is
allusion. Address to the United Nations, July 2013 states, This is the compassion that I have learnt
from Muhammad the prophet of mercy, Jesus Christ and Lord Buddha. This is the legacy of change
that I have inherited from Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. This is

Onion for Body Benefits and Value Calories
Onions are a great free food for the body because they contain only 30 calories per half cup (chopped

Paul s Influence On Christianity
The Pauline epistles are the fourteen books in the New Testament traditionally attributed to Paul the
Apostle. There is wide consensus in modern New Testament scholarship on a core group of authentic
Pauline epistles whose authorship is rarely contested: Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians,
Philippians, 1 Thessalonians, and Philemon. The several other letters allegedly written by Paul lack
academic consensus: Ephesians, Colossians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 2 Timothy, and Titus. However, both
the real and the fake apostle Paul are of great importance to Christianity and played a major role in
spreading this new religion. Paul s influence on Christian thinking arguably has been more significant
than any other New Testament author. Paul declared that Christ is the end of the law , exalted the
Christian church as the body of Christ, and depicted the world outside the Church as under judgment.
It has been said that if it were not for Paul, Christianity would have remained a small unknown branch
of Judaism. Paul was the leading missionary to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Justification by faith, the concept that humans are saved from sin by believing in Jesus, is the most

Comparing Tadeusz Borowski s Tone, Voice And Creative
The will to live and survive is a very basic drive in humans. When people are stripped of their freedom
and their lives are threatened, their instinct is to find some way to stay alive physically and to cope
mentally. During the Holocaust, relieved to be alive and in fear of the death around them, many
prisoners made an amorality of choices to survive and so these prisoners became implicated in the
system of torture and killing themselves. This is an identity given to them not only by the prisoners
who are subject to their mistreatment and punishment, but also by the Nazi SS men who use freedom
from death as leverage to help in managing other prisoners. Other than the prisoners who they
managed and repressed, the soldiers were the only social, emotional and psychological contact these
prisoners had. Unconsciously, these prisoners began to adopt some of the behavior and attitudes of the
Nazi SS men. They became numb, and detached from the people suffering around them. In this essay I
am going to compare Tadeusz Borowski s tone, voice and creative narrative in, This Way for the Gas,
Ladies and Gentleman, with Ruth Franklin s findings from her investigation of his work, in her book,
A Thousand Darknesses: Lies and Truth in the Holocaust Fiction.
Borowski, a Polish political prisoner, begins by confessing his role in the suffering others endured
within the camps and upon arriving. Borowski allows readers to witness the fruits of his camaraderie

Comparison Of Sikhism In The Fullerton Gurdwara
The phrase Sikh refers to disciple in Punjabi, or those who see themselves as disciples or followers of
Akal Purakh, the ten Sikh Gurus, and the sacred scripture, the Adi Granth. Sikhs worship Sri Guru
Nanak; Guru Nanak was born in 1469 to a higher caste merchant family in a village which is near
modern day Lahore, Pakistan. At this time a lot of India was under the Muslim control including the
Punjab. The story behind Guru Nanak is that he went to bathe in the Vein River and during this bath
he completely disappeared. All of his family looked for him but he could not be found, but three days
later he came out of the water and declared, There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim. This statement
plays a huge part in this religion because of the two opposing religions, Hinduism and Islam,
surrounding Sikhism. Therefore, the ideology behind Sikhism is that there is one God for all religions
and that as a Sikh you must follow the writings and teachings of the ten gurus. My goal for this
research paper is to compare and contrast what I observed at the Fullerton Gurdwara to what the book,
the lectures, and other educational resources say. In the following paragraphs I will discuss clothing
etiquette, prayer, and modern Sikhism as observed in the Fullerton Gurdwara.
To start off, when first coming to a Gurdwara I was told to wear traditional clothing such as a shalwar
kameez which consists of a long shirt called a kameez and wide, loose pants called a salwar and you

Hiroshima John Hersey Summary
Hiroshima, a monograph written by John Hersey, narrates the lives of the six survivors of the atomic
bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6 of 1945. The book covers these six survivors experience
from the moment prior to the bomb being dropped until many months later. Forty years since the
bomb, the fifth chapter of the monograph was added, in which the author reexamined the six survivors
lives and what they had gone through during almost four decades after 1945. The six individuals
introduced by John Hersey in this book included: Miss Toshinki Sasaki, a clerk in the personnel
department of the East Asia Tin Works; Dr. Masakazu Fujii, a physician; Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura, a
tailor s widow; Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, a German priest; Dr. Terufumi ... Show more content on

I found the information Hersey gathered from the interviews with the six survivors, which is a primary
source, fairly adequate since the author actually spent three weeks in Japan to conduct these
interviews. Having the victims words allowed Hersey to illustrate the historical event of the atomic
bomb being dropped in the most vivid way as possible and narrating it from multiple perspectives
because these words came from someone who actually witnessed and participated in the event. One of
the six survivors that the author interviewed, the Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, spent the rest of his
life after the Second World War to fight against the usage of nuclear weapons. He went on extensive
speaking tours in the United States to raise funds for his project of a Hiroshima peace center and for
the Hiroshima Maidens, who were severely burned by the fires after the bomb and in need of plastic
surgery. In 1955, the Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto appeared for an interview about the fateful
event on a television program named This is Your Life, where he met Captain Robert Lewis, co pilot
of the Enola Gay on the Hiroshima mission. The annual award Kiyoshi Tanimoto Peace Prize, a prize
awarded to individuals and groups that are trying to promote a peaceful world, is named after him.
However, since this information came from the victims, its adequacy can also be questioned since the
six survivors may have distorted their reports to enhance their own image or importance. In addition,
it is also worth to mention the compelling statistics Hersey presented in the monograph that cited the
number of doctors and nurses, who were either killed or injured by the bomb in Hiroshima.

The American Revolution And The War For Independence
The year 1775 marked the beginning of the American Revolution or, to the colonists, The War for
Independence. The American Revolution did not happen by itself but past conflicts such as the seven
years war provoked the future event of the American Revolution. The seven year war was fought
between the Thirteen Colonies and the French Empire as well as Native American allies, over territory
in America. Before the seven year war, the British government proposed the colonists to pay for
protection and also for a royal leader. After the seven year war King George changed the proposal to
being required for every colonist to pay taxes because of the debt that British was in. The British
Crown passed many laws without representation from colonists, which led colonists to question the
king s authority. As a result, historians argue that the American Revolution was based on economics.
More significant causes of the American Revolution were politics, culture, and religion. Politics were
a significant cause because the colonist disliked the rules and regulations of the Charter that the King
established. Culture also caused the Revolution due to the rational thinking of the Enlightenment. The
Enlightenment gave the colonist the thought of self governing instead of being under the royal leader.
Finally, Religion also impacted the American Revolution because Religion contributed the idea that
the church should voice their opinion on government decisions over the colonies. Americans

Anti Federalist Paper Pros And Cons
The Federalist and Anti Federalist papers were created in response to the United States Constitution.
In 1787, the Second Continental Congress called for a federal convention. This meeting in
Philadelphia came to create the U.S Constitution. It originally was held to revise the Articles of
Confederation, but due to the mindsets of many proponents present at the convention, like Alexander
Hamilton and James Madison, and the vision of creating a new government rather than fixing the old
one, the United States Constitution was formed. Once this was sent to congress it was submitted to the
states for ratification. In response, many articles and letters were submitted to the public criticizing the
proposition. These articles and letters are where the Anti Federalist papers are derived from. Although
there was opposition to the Constitution, many were in its favor. In response to these criticizing
papers, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote papers in the constitutions defense.
These were come to be known as the Federalist papers. Two papers in particular, Federalist 51 and
Anti Federalist 51, are written on the topic of checks and balances and how this relates to a separation
of powers within the national government. These arguments were successful due to their primary
points of contention and strong arguments proposed.
The primary point of contention in Federalist 51, written by James Madison, was to support the checks
and balances system in the United States

You have to pursue the practice if you require to be healthy and live a happy life. Having a purpose to
practice mediation will help you the most but practicing overwhelmingly will not lead you to the
results.
Start your practice of mediation with breathing and slowly add other techniques of mediation in your
practice. Breathing slowly is a simple way that leads you to relax your muscles and keep your heart
beat at a normal pace. Generally, breathing is the first stage in the mediation process and people find it
helpful as well.
Discover the job, work, activity or hobby that you find most interesting and pleasing in order to
continue the mediation process more effectively. This hobby or activity will help you concentrate on
one area of your interest and it will slowly remove negativity from your mind.
Breathing is not merely the only way to mediate yourself; there are plenty of additional techniques of
mediation that you can try to relax and calm yourself. If you do not like the practice of breathing you
can try breathing in other positions than sitting and keeping yourself straight. Just try to discover new
positions that strengthen your ability to practice and that is comfortable for

Carl Sandburg Research Paper
Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a
door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg
attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many
writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve
experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is trying to
communicate through their works.
Langston Hughes was initially recognised as an important literary figure in the 1920s, a period
commonly referred to as the Harlem Renaissance which was based in Harlem, New York City. During
this period there was an exceptional amount of black writers that were emerging such as Countee
Cullen, Claude McKay and Langston Hughes. This literary period is best known for its use of blues
and folklore in many famous pieces and the African American writers that emerged during this time.
Hughes was very active in social and political causes, He often used his poems as a medium for
cultural protest. He wrote over 50 books and his play Mulatto; a term originally used to refer to

Frederic Bastiat Essay
Frederic Bastiat (1801 1850) was a French classical economist, statesman, and author. He did most of
his writing during the years before and after the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period
when France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr.
Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how
socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen chose to ignore
his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six

Many philosophers have made important contributions to the discourse on liberty, Bastiat among
them. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made
ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized
the greatest single threat to liberty is government.
Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg.
2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals
have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same
rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because
men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand
that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights
have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was
created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only
when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law
becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false
philanthropy

African American Male Self Esteem Essay
African American men s experiences of racism are believed to contribute to low self esteem (Utsey,
Ponterotto, Reynolds, Cancelli, 2000). Yet researchers have found evidence that suggests African
Americans explicit self esteem is equal to that of members of non stigmatized groups (Crocker Major,
1989). In contrast to explicit self esteem, implicit self esteem is a spontaneous, automatic, and
unconscious evaluation of one s own worth (Baccus, Baldwin, Packer, 2004). In addition, it is thought
that social behavior operates in an unconscious manner (Baccus et al., 2004). As a result, the question
of whether it is mainly implicit self esteem that influences social behavior has been raised and
researched (Bosson, Brown, Zeigler Hill, Swann, 2003). However, the role of implicit self esteem as
an influence of social behavior for African American men is lacking a significant amount of empirical
research. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

safe to behaviors that are disruptive, dysfunctional and harmful to the individual (Weiss, 1999).
Additionally, maladaptive behaviors are formed as a way of coping with emotional and mental
discomfort as well as anxiety, but the actions typically result in a compounding of the problem.
Examples of maladaptive behavior include substance abuse, attention seeking behavior, perfectionism,

Carl Sagan extravagantly uses syntax, diction, and rhetorical devices in his essay Pale Blue Dot to
describe how planet earth is just one small speck in the vast unknown area of outer space, and how we
as people could be classified as insignificant to the rest of the solar system.
Within the story, Sagan used astonishing examples of syntax to get the reader thinking, not only about
the essay itself, but about the bigger picture. Near the end of the essay Sagan described how we have
explored the wide array of planets in space, but have not settled on any by saying, ¨ Visit, yes. Settle,
no ¨(Sagan 4 of 5). This use of short sentences impacts the reader and really catches their attention.

denotation is very similar in the sense that it says the word to be an idiosyncratic belief or impression
that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational
argument. If the author had chosen to use a different word in place of delusion, it would not have
taken the reader into another dimension or imaginary world , which this word did very well. It created

  • 2. To Be True to Yourself in a World That Is Constantly... To be true to yourself in a world that is constantly making you something else is a great achievement All of us possess qualities that differentiate us from other human beings. These distinguishing features could be more or less highlighted in appearance, mindset or capabilities, but they will always persist and determine the nature of our personality. Unfortunately these characteristic attributes are deteriorating as humanity is moulding us into the perfect person influencing us to stray away from who we are (our so called insignificant selves) to what is desirable (a flawless model). Staying true to yourself means to stick to what you believe in and being whom you were meant to be, it means not sacrificing who you are to fit in with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Anastasia Goodstein, from Huffington Post, 80 percent of girls have purchased an item as a result of an ad in a teen magazine and 63 percent trust magazine ads. As a result girls become convinced that they require particular fashions to belong in a society that emphasizes materialism. Moreover, most of the fashion, diet and lifestyle advice is directed toward being desirable to men. Magazines stress sexuality as a central identity, minimizing all other attributes. The girls reading teen magazines begin to digest and trust the message that they are only sexual objects. Peer pressure is the influence exerted by a social group or an individual, encouraging other persons to change their attitudes, values, or behaviours in order to conform to group norms. Peer pressure is most commonly associated with youth, in part because most youth spend large amounts of time in schools and other fixed groups that they do not choose and are seen as lacking the maturity to handle pressure from friends. Peer pressure can also have positive effects when people are pressured toward positive behaviour, such as volunteering for charity or excelling in academics or athletics, by their peers. However Risk taking behaviour is seemingly the most common as these same people engage in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Journey The journey of life is not meant to be feared and planned; it s meant to be traveled and enjoyed. Waking up every morning, I still can t believe it s been almost two years since I moved to America. I mean it s crazy, one year ago all the street signs are in Chinese and the next thing you know I wake up in a world of English. I can still remember the day I step off the airplane, it was a day that changed my life. Some of my friends were amazed by how quickly I adapted to America, but that s not true. I had a transition year when I was 13. I have to say; I m feeling very different from two years ago when I first walk into a world where everyone speaks English. What most of my friends don t know is that I didn t go to Jericho straightway; I was in Syosset for 8th grade. I remember walking into the building for the first time. My heart was pounding; I was sweating. I reported to the administrator, and I was taken to the classroom by the social study teacher (kind of a leading teacher of the class). I walked through the classroom door, and I sort of had a panic attack when everybody looked at me. God, I really wish I was dead or something at that moment. I have to say how I landed in that school was a mystery to solve. In the entire school building including staff members, I m probably the only atheist there. Every Wednesday the whole class spends about 3 periods on Mass. On my first Wednesday there, which is surprising also my first day there, I felt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Why People Wear Seatbelts Deciding what to compose my essay of was no easy task. As a sixteen year old girl, many things today anger or irritate me. I have a different outlook on life than most people, therefore, things that might not bother the average teen girl infuriate me. After reflecting on the subject for a long time, I finally came to the conclusion that nothing bothers me more than when people don t wear seat belts whenever they operate or ride in a vehicle. Maybe it s perhaps because I have seen many wonderful people pass away simply because they couldn t click their seat belt or maybe it s because wearing a seat belt is logical, but some people still don t seem to understand. In today s modern world, there are a lot of inventions that help make our life easier and safer. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Something that irritates me is when people, who obviously know right from wrong, don t use their seatbelts. There s a reason why not wearing a seatbelt is illegal and enforced in most states. The leading cause of death among is teens is vehicle accidents. In 2012 it was reported that in half of the deaths, the person was no not wearing any type or restraint or seatbelt. Meaning 33,000 people died and another 2.2 million were injured. This has a consequence and as a teenager myself, it makes me sad to think that kids, just like me, had their life cut short. Many of them could ve went to college, pursue a career, become the world s future doctors, businessmen, and leaders. Most people don t know what they re risking when they don t buckle up. It was served as a prison and death was a permanent feature. Brutal abuse like gas chambers, crematoriums, and starvation were punishments the prisoners at Auschwitz experienced. The physical health of the prisoners was very unhealthy . The conditions that they lived in were so awful, many prisoners died each day without being gassed (Feldman 247). There were also many cases of Epidemic disease (Pelt). Day and night, the prisoners struggled to survive with the lack of sleep, clothing, and privacy (Dwork and Pelt). The new weapon inventions that helped us win, the effects on woman when I got back home, and my health .I was sad when I had to leave my family. I had a four year old son and a six year old daughter. In World War I there was a lot of new weapon inventions. There were flamethrowers, machine guns, airplanes, tanks, poison gas, etc. The weapons in world war 1 was one of the main reasons we won the war. It helped us kill more enemies. It was a bad thing too. They could use the same weapons against you and kill just as much soldiers as your army does. • 7. Symbolism In A Rose For Emily By William Faulkner Love can distill rage into individuals when it is not mutual. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, things begin to go south as Emily Grierson encounters her biggest fear: change. Ms. Emily is viewed as a monument and chore to her community. After her father s death, her world seems to flow accordingly behind his passing. Meanwhile, her emotional health declines in conjunction with her physical surroundings. Emily Grierson suffers from emotional decay due to isolation by her father, unrequited love, and unrealistic expectations from the townspeople causing her to embrace murder. Although Ms. Emily s father was dead, he still had mental control over her endeavors. She was left feeling vulnerable and open to love from a male. Emily knew no love outside of her father s grasp. Faulkner writes how after her father s death, people hardly saw her at all (sec.2 para.2). It was understood around the community that no man was good enough for Ms. Emily, according to her father. Faulkner expresses symbolism as he describes Emily as a slender figure in white in the background... and her father as a spraddled silhouette in the foreground... clutching a horsewhip (sec.2 para.13). By describing her father as a silhouette , Faulkner directly foreshadows her father s role in her current life succeeding his death. He acts as a shadow behind her, foreshadowing her long term emotional instability. Because of his confinement, Ms. Emily was robbed of the experience of any intimate ... • 8. Economic Development Introduction Governments the world over have long been investing in infrastructure in the hope of boosting economic development of their country. To study the relationship between infrastructure and economic development, we compared two journals; Infrastructure and Local Economic Development by Rives, J amp; Heaney, M. (1995) and Infrastructure and Economic Growth: The Nigeria Experience 1980 2006 by Enimola, S (2010). We chose these journals as the journal by Rives, J looked at the approach on a community/state level whereas the journal by Enimola, S looked at it at a national level. Hence, we were able to look at the topic at a micro and macro level. We compared the objectives of both journals, along with the methodological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Charlemagne Pros And Cons Known as The King of the Franks, Charlemagne inherited half of his father s kingdom at his death in AD 768 and took over the other half at his brother s death in AD 771. In keeping with the tradition of his predecessors, Charlemagne s reign was characterized by three decades of military campaigns. During his reign, Charlemagne led campaigns against the Saxons, the Lombards, Spain and Bavaria. His empire extended from Saxony in the North to the Spanish March in the South and Italy in the West. Charlemagne was officially named as the first Roman Emperor by the Pope in late AD 800. He remained emperor until AD 814. Charlemagne ruled as king but relied on an inner circle of trusted advisors. • 10. Reflective Practice As pointed out before, RP is a trending topic nowadays but also confusing. The ambiguity and the overlapping use of terms complicate the understanding (hebert, tsingos 2014). Boud 1985 p.8 points out that it is not a single facet term but a generic/umbrella one that involves a range of ideas and activities. In order to apply the concept correctly to dental education, I will present different definitions of related terms such as reflection, critical reflection and reflexivity. Reflective Practice There is some consensus about the RP definition and it is generally understood as the process of learning through and from experience towards gaining new insights of self and/or practice {Finlay, 2008 p.1}. It involves the examination of daily practical assumptions, the self awareness of the practitioner and the critical evaluation of the own action. RP breaks the assumption that reflection happens ... It also presumes an intentional activity, or purpose learning (Moon, Amulya date) which is in line with many definitions of reflection (Dewey, Moon). However, reflection could be only thinking about something, and not necessary in a deeply, carefully or purposefully way. Therefore, there is an argument for having different levels of reflection (see van manen, hebert, mezirow), All of these suggests that critical reflection is the highest or the most important level, and it is this that I consider next. Critical Reflection Mezirow (1990) contemplated reflective practice and identified that there was more to reflection than simply thinking about experiences, suggesting that critical reflection involves a critique on the assumptions on which our beliefs and values have developed (hickson p. ... • 11. Is The Vice President s Comments About Cost And Schedule... 1. Are the vice president s comments about cost and schedule variance correct? Yes! As we have seen in the case study the Spokane industries are very particular about the earned value reports, as we seen in the reports that the Franklin electronics provided is seemed to be a very basic according their view. The values of cost variance at the 2nd month are like 6K, 2K, 3K, 3K, here the total comes to 14k ($14,000) and the same cost variance in the following month are presented as 7K, 3K, 5K, 10K ($25,000) respectively, so here we can see that the values that were provided in the 2nd month are less than 3/4th of the 3rd month. Comes to the scheduling variance the values given to the 2nd month are said to be 8K, 1K, 2K, 20K ($31,000), the 3rd month calculations are in the order 12K, 3K, 4K, 26K ($45,000), so by seeing this we can easily say that the scheduling variance is overrated nearly 50% of its value in the previous month. So, whatever the sponsor said in the case study is true. I hope their main aim for the need of these earned value reports is to reduce the interchange meetings and to finish the project within the basic 3 constraints of a project management. That is why they opted a formalized project management. I Have Developed My Self Assessment Essay Introduction My culture, interaction with family and friends, and the various experiences from co curricular and extra curricular activities have enabled me to develop a multifaceted personality to tap my potential. In particular different activities, projects, assessment reports, and feedback from colleagues over the last few months at Babson I have better understood my strengths and weaknesses, and work style and leadership style. In this paper, I have developed my self assessment analysis based upon qualitative and quantitative materials I have, and my experiences and exercises during this semester. I have identified three broad themes that incorporate several subthemes representing my current abilities, preferences, patterns of strengths, etc. (see appendix 1). Further, I have developed my action plan for the next semester to enhance my strengths and learn new skills, which are critical for my future career growth, to overcome my weaknesses. Self assessment Theme 1: I am action and performance oriented Based upon my experiences, feedback from others and self analysis, I believe that I am always action and performance oriented. Lorway examines sexuality as both a social construct and a political one. While this ethnography provides unparalleled information about gender and sexuality in the poorer world, there are a few important flaws, such as the lack of information about radical ideas or behavior, neglect of his own bias, and the length of the ethnography. How Did The October Revolution Affect The Bolsheviks After overthrowing the Provisional Government and forming the Sovnarkom socialist government in the October Revolution (1917), the Bolsheviks were hampered by problems that arose over social, political and economic factors, however to consolidate their power, they used means of sabotage and appeasing the population. Many decrees were published to placate the masses, such as the Decree on land and the Decree on Workers Control, to control the economic situation. Politically, the Bolsheviks formed the Cheka to expose and investigate all counter revolutionary and criminal activities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bolsheviks were concerned about their abilitiy to remain in control. This is because the October Revolution (1917) came too late to prevent the elections of the All Russian Constituent Assembly from going ahead in November as planned. The voting (12 15 November 1917) occurred and the results dismayed the Bolsheviks. Although they had won 175 seats in the assembly, they were outvoted by nearly two to one by the SRs who won 370/707 seats and had the majority with 52%. Lenin was worried about the results and believed that they had no need of an assembly because to hand over power to the Constituent Assembly would again be to compromise with the malignant bourgeoisie. With this mentality in mind, Lenin urged the Bolsheviks to dissolve the Constituent Assembly. This occurred on 5 January 1918 when, after a long day of negotiations and disagreements between the Bolsheviks and Left SRs and Mensheviks and Right SRs, the meeting ended at 5am. When the delegates arrived at 5pm for the reconvened session, they found that the Tauride Palace was locked and guarded by Bolshevik troops who presented them with a decree declaring that the Constituent Assembly has been dissolved. The Bolsheviks believed that the machine gun became for them the principle instrument of political persuasion, (Richard Pipes) which outlined their motives behind dissolving the assembly. This contributed to formation of the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic (RSFSR), who formally came into being (19 July 1918), which allowed the Bolsheviks to remain firmly in power. Thus, concluding that the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly allowed the Bolsheviks to establish the RSFSR, which ultimately consolidated their power at that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Summary Of Gerry Garibaldi s How The Schools Shortchange... In Gerry Garibaldi s essay, How the Schools Shortchange the Boys, he argues that the feministic learning of the public school systems detrimentally affects males learning because boys are often identified as special ed and leave the classroom with only the resiliency of survival. However, Garibaldi s arguments are biased, misguided, and fail to see how the application of the male nature can be successful in a feministic learning style, so we should not agree with his claims. In order to understand Garibaldis claims, what his version of feminist learning is must be explained. He spends time discussing the current style of teaching, and then defines feminist learning as, the method [that] addresses the need to teach all students in a classroom where academic abilities vary greatly where there is heterogeneous grouping, to use the ed school jargon meaning kids with IQs of 55 sit side by side with the gifted (537). He says this with as much negative tone as a person can fit in a sentence. What part of that is feminist? Garibaldi describes a school environment that tries to relieve all boundaries of mental ability, in order to benefit the entire classroom, not the girls in the classroom. Personally, being a girl who has been identified as gifted, it s not my favorite type of learning. I am forced to group with people for whom I spend every 10 seconds explaining the teacher s simple directions. During my eighth grade year, my male science teacher paired me with my associate who constantly asked questions. Mr. Grace made it my job to answer this classmate s non stop questions because it drew away from the lesson when my peer asked the teacher to repeat himself. How exactly that helps my learning, I have no idea, but I don t have so much as a clue about how this is a feministic point of view. Is the school system feministic or he just a masculist? Not only his definition of feminist leaves unanswered questions, Garibaldi also opens himself up for criticism in his diction. When introducing his first supporting reason, Garibaldi states, it is boys aggressive and rationalist nature redefined as a behavioral disorder that s getting so many of them in trouble in the feminized schools. When people are stripped of their freedom and their lives are threatened, their instinct is to find some way to stay alive physically and to cope mentally. During the Holocaust, relieved to be alive and in fear of the death around them, many prisoners made an amorality of choices to survive and so these prisoners became implicated in the system of torture and killing themselves. This is an identity given to them not only by the prisoners who are subject to their mistreatment and punishment, but also by the Nazi SS men who use freedom from death as leverage to help in managing other prisoners. Other than the prisoners who they managed and repressed, the soldiers were the only social, emotional and psychological contact these prisoners had. Unconsciously, these prisoners began to adopt some of the behavior and attitudes of the Nazi SS men. They became numb, and detached from the people suffering around them. Comparison Of Sikhism In The Fullerton Gurdwara The phrase Sikh refers to disciple in Punjabi, or those who see themselves as disciples or followers of Akal Purakh, the ten Sikh Gurus, and the sacred scripture, the Adi Granth. Sikhs worship Sri Guru Nanak; Guru Nanak was born in 1469 to a higher caste merchant family in a village which is near modern day Lahore, Pakistan. At this time a lot of India was under the Muslim control including the Punjab. The story behind Guru Nanak is that he went to bathe in the Vein River and during this bath he completely disappeared. All of his family looked for him but he could not be found, but three days later he came out of the water and declared, There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim. Forty years since the bomb, the fifth chapter of the monograph was added, in which the author reexamined the six survivors lives and what they had gone through during almost four decades after 1945. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found the information Hersey gathered from the interviews with the six survivors, which is a primary source, fairly adequate since the author actually spent three weeks in Japan to conduct these interviews. Having the victims words allowed Hersey to illustrate the historical event of the atomic bomb being dropped in the most vivid way as possible and narrating it from multiple perspectives because these words came from someone who actually witnessed and participated in the event. One of the six survivors that the author interviewed, the Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, spent the rest of his life after the Second World War to fight against the usage of nuclear weapons. He went on extensive speaking tours in the United States to raise funds for his project of a Hiroshima peace center and for the Hiroshima Maidens, who were severely burned by the fires after the bomb and in need of plastic surgery. In 1955, the Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto appeared for an interview about the fateful event on a television program named This is Your Life, where he met Captain Robert Lewis, co pilot of the Enola Gay on the Hiroshima mission. The annual award Kiyoshi Tanimoto Peace Prize, a prize awarded to individuals and groups that are trying to promote a peaceful world, is named after him. However, since this information came from the victims, its adequacy can also be questioned since the six survivors may have distorted their reports to enhance their own image or importance. In addition, it is also worth to mention the compelling statistics Hersey presented in the monograph that cited the number of doctors and nurses, who were either killed or injured by the bomb in Hiroshima. ... • 33. The American Revolution And The War For Independence The year 1775 marked the beginning of the American Revolution or, to the colonists, The War for Independence. The American Revolution did not happen by itself but past conflicts such as the seven years war provoked the future event of the American Revolution. The seven year war was fought between the Thirteen Colonies and the French Empire as well as Native American allies, over territory in America. Before the seven year war, the British government proposed the colonists to pay for protection and also for a royal leader. After the seven year war King George changed the proposal to being required for every colonist to pay taxes because of the debt that British was in. The British Crown passed many laws without representation from colonists, which led colonists to question the king s authority. As a result, historians argue that the American Revolution was based on economics. More significant causes of the American Revolution were politics, culture, and religion. Politics were a significant cause because the colonist disliked the rules and regulations of the Charter that the King established. Culture also caused the Revolution due to the rational thinking of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment gave the colonist the thought of self governing instead of being under the royal leader. Finally, Religion also impacted the American Revolution because Religion contributed the idea that the church should voice their opinion on government decisions over the colonies. Americans ... • 34. Anti Federalist Paper Pros And Cons The Federalist and Anti Federalist papers were created in response to the United States Constitution. In 1787, the Second Continental Congress called for a federal convention. This meeting in Philadelphia came to create the U.S Constitution. It originally was held to revise the Articles of Confederation, but due to the mindsets of many proponents present at the convention, like Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, and the vision of creating a new government rather than fixing the old one, the United States Constitution was formed. Once this was sent to congress it was submitted to the states for ratification. In response, many articles and letters were submitted to the public criticizing the proposition. These articles and letters are where the Anti Federalist papers are derived from. Although there was opposition to the Constitution, many were in its favor. In response to these criticizing papers, Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison wrote papers in the constitutions defense. These were come to be known as the Federalist papers. Two papers in particular, Federalist 51 and Anti Federalist 51, are written on the topic of checks and balances and how this relates to a separation of powers within the national government. These arguments were successful due to their primary points of contention and strong arguments proposed. The primary point of contention in Federalist 51, written by James Madison, was to support the checks and balances system in the United States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carl Sandburg Research Paper Carl Sandburg; a 20th century American Poet, once defined poetry as ...the opening and closing of a door, leaving those who look through to guess about what is seen during that moment. Sandburg attempts to suggest that an experience can be expressed by a poet via the way language is used. Many writers are influenced heavily by the political, social, and environmental situations that they ve experienced, which may need to be known to the reader to fully understand what the writer is trying to communicate through their works. • 37. Frederic Bastiat Essay Frederic Bastiat (1801 1850) was a French classical economist, statesman, and author. He did most of his writing during the years before and after the Revolution of February 1848. This was the period when France was rapidly turning to complete socialism. As a Deputy to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bastiat was studying and explaining each socialist fallacy as it appeared. And he explained how socialism must inevitably degenerate into communism. But most of his countrymen chose to ignore his logic. The fight against socialism drained Bastiat s already fading energy, and by 1850 a mere six years alter his first published article and only two since his election to the National Assembly he was on his deathbed. But Bastiat s greatest contribution is that he took the discourse out of the ivory tower and made ideas on liberty so clear that even the unlettered can understand them. Like others, Bastiat recognized the greatest single threat to liberty is government. Law, according to Bastiat, is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense (pg. 2). Bastiat starts off saying that the basic gifts man has from God, it exists only to do what individuals have a right to do: protect their persons, their liberties and their properties. Bastiat gave the same rationale for government as did our Founders, saying, Life, liberty and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it is the fact that life, liberty and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place. No finer statements of natural or God given rights have been made than those found in our Declaration of Independence and The Law. The law was created to ensure that individuals in society were allowed to use these gifts. Justice is achieved only when injustice is absent (pg. 12).When the law is used for more than these three goals, the law becomes an instrument of injustice. Similar to the use of the law is abused by the greed and false philanthropy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. African American Male Self Esteem Essay African American men s experiences of racism are believed to contribute to low self esteem (Utsey, Ponterotto, Reynolds, Cancelli, 2000). Yet researchers have found evidence that suggests African Americans explicit self esteem is equal to that of members of non stigmatized groups (Crocker Major, 1989). In contrast to explicit self esteem, implicit self esteem is a spontaneous, automatic, and unconscious evaluation of one s own worth (Baccus, Baldwin, Packer, 2004). In addition, it is thought that social behavior operates in an unconscious manner (Baccus et al., 2004). As a result, the question of whether it is mainly implicit self esteem that influences social behavior has been raised and researched (Bosson, Brown, Zeigler Hill, Swann, 2003). However, the role of implicit self esteem as an influence of social behavior for African American men is lacking a significant amount of empirical research. ... • 39. Pale Blue Dot Carl Sagan extravagantly uses syntax, diction, and rhetorical devices in his essay Pale Blue Dot to describe how planet earth is just one small speck in the vast unknown area of outer space, and how we as people could be classified as insignificant to the rest of the solar system. Within the story, Sagan used astonishing examples of syntax to get the reader thinking, not only about the essay itself, but about the bigger picture. Near the end of the essay Sagan described how we have explored the wide array of planets in space, but have not settled on any by saying, ¨ Visit, yes. Settle, no ¨(Sagan 4 of 5). This use of short sentences impacts the reader and really catches their attention. Instead of drawing out a long explanation, he used these short sentences to quickly convey the importance of how unknown that outer space really is and how we are are only one small letter in a huge 400 page book. ... The word Delusion can have the connotation as being a word that describes someone or something that is not of their right mind, maybe a little crazy. The denotation is very similar in the sense that it says the word to be an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument. If the author had chosen to use a different word in place of delusion, it would not have taken the reader into another dimension or imaginary world , which this word did very well. It created a sense of unknown when read by the reader, highlighting the key idea that the outer space is a massive blank canvas in which we have only written our name in the corner ...
