Borderline Personality Disorder ( Borderline )
Research Paper: Borderline Personality Disorder Borderline personality disorder is a serious mental
illness that directly affects one s behavior, moods, and relationships/socialization skills. Borderline
personality disorder often is associated with co occurring disorders like depression, suicidal behaviors,
anxiety, abuse of drugs and alcohol, as well as eating disorders. The behavior of a person diagnosed
with borderline is also described to erratic and impulsive. The cause of borderline personality disorder
is still not entirely clear at this point, although trials and studies suggest that it can be passed down
through genetic traits. It is also suggested that one s environment/upbringing may play a huge factor in
the diagnoses as well. Because borderline personality disorder was not considered a valid diagnosable
illness until 1980(by clinical standard), the illness history is one that is more so rooted in the history of
other illnesses ( What Is Borderline Personality, 2012, Para 1). Prior to its inclusion in the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, borderline was considered to be overlapped with
schizophrenia, non schizophrenic psychoses, and neuroses such as anxiety and depressive disorders.
(Friedel, M.D., 2012, Para. 1). Because it was often associated with so many different illnesses,
borderline was considered to be a throw away diagnoses because it only found purpose when patients
did not fit the mold for other diagnostic requirements.

Emily Dickinson s Poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Death is everywhere. From the insect you killed this morning to the family member you lose recently,
there is no force stronger than death. Emily Dickinson, a 19th century writer, indulges that fact but
also goes beyond it in her work. Dickinson revisits the theme of death in her poetry. Through her
work, she shows readers her fascination with death the emotions associated with it. In I heard a Fly
buzz when I died and I ve seen a Dying Eye , Dickinson shows us a very intimate view of a person
dying. The poem Because I could not stop for Death shows readers the journey to eternity after death
and The Bustle in a House shows readers what happens to a family after death. These four poems by
Emily Dickinson all share a central theme of death and give readers a very personal understanding of
it. Emily Dickinson was born and educated in Massachusetts. She only remained in college for one
year but still produced volumes of poetry. She was very introverted and towards the end of her life,
she only wore white. Her poetry, as stated by the Academy of American Poets, reflects her loneliness
and the speakers of her poems generally live in a state of want, but her poems are also marked by the
intimate recollection of inspirational moments which are decidedly life giving and suggest the
possibility of happiness ( Emily Dickinson. ). However, her works were never published while she
was alive. After her death her family found 800 poems or 40 hand bound volumes ( Emily

Blue Zone Culture
The biggest difference between the Blue Zones and the Rest of America is their culture. In these areas,
individuals tend to be naturally more active and eat healthier. In all three areas, they eat a mainly plant
based diet in combination with other fresh, healthy foods like whole wheat bread, nuts, beans, and
cheese full of Omega 3 fatty acids. These communities also find natural ways to keep them active
walking wherever they go, gardening, bike riding and most importantly finding ways to stay active if
they choose to retire. These cultures also tend to have a social system that finds pride in their elders,
so aging adults are surrounded with family and friends. They also pride taking time to relax and
destress reducing stress hormones like cortisol. From the Blue Zone type of behaviors, I try to be
active. With class and work, I do not always get to get out from the desk, but I go to the gym four or
five days a week. I lift weights every day and do some sort of cardio at least three days a week. I try to

This perspective uses different aspects of biology, psychology, and social processes to explain and
understand aging. The biological aspects of aging would obviously highlight that healthy, active
individuals with good genetics would age more successfully. The cultures of the Blue Zones
encourage healthy habits which help increase the life span. Healthy habits can also help slow down, or
even stop, some of the processes of primary and secondary aging these factors include natural and
illness related changes. Cultures that promote cleaner eating habits and active lifestyles will naturally
have a better chance of having healthy and happy elderly. Blue Zones tend to be small, close
communities since they are so small and tight knit families may tend to stay in the area for
generations. Having communities with several generations of a family line would lead to better
genetics for that family

The Ride Home From Church
The ride home from church wasn t much different from any other day. My mom was lecturing me
about sports. This time it was about soccer. We would be starting games this week and my mom was
worried, just like she usually is.
Are you sure you want to keep doing this? She annoyingly asked me. I had gotten used to this because
of the countless times before that she asked it
There are so many other things you could do with yourself. You are in band, clubs, and have some
amazing grades. You don t have to do this.
Please stop. I said to her, like I normally would.
I wish you could just do something safer, Gab. Especially after last year.
At this point I ve heard all of it before and I had enough of it. I looked out the window, ignoring every
word she said after that. Finally she decided it would be best if she left me alone. She must have
finally come to her senses and realized that I wasn t going to change my mind.
My eyes start to water slightly, You taught me never give up and I never will. We can t believing that
something bad is going to happen. We have to have faith that everything will okay now. Anyway, you
know how much I ve worked this. I m finally where I want to be and I can t let go now. I already lost
cheer.
My mom nods, choking on the words she wishes to say. She doesn t say another word the rest of the
ride home.
Do you have practice tomorrow? My dad asks as I walk through the door.
Yes, and our first game is Thursday. I answer.

Microsoft Acquires Nokia
INTRODUCTION
Microsoft is to acquire Nokia s mobile phone arm in a swansong deal for the software giant s long
serving chief executive, Steve Ballmer, delivering Europe s last big handset maker into American
ownership.
For €5.44bn (£4.6bn), Nokia is casting off the business that once represented Finland s most important
export, in a deal that will result in 32,000 staff transferring to Microsoft.
Overtaken in the smartphone arena by Apple and Samsung, Nokia s board agreed to end the company
s decades long role as a pioneer and once dominant player in one of the most revolutionary
technologies in modern history.
The acquisition marks the boldest step yet taken by Microsoft in its recently announced strategy of

Apple s iPhone and handsets running Google s Android together make up over 95% of sales in the US
and China, the world s two largest smartphone markets, according to Kantar World panel s latest
figures. Windows Phone only has shares above 10% in Mexico and France, according to the company
s figures.
According to the article, Under the deal, Microsoft is buying the Lumia and Asha brand names that
Nokia has used for its smart and intermediate phones. It has licensed the use of the Nokia brand on
handsets for 10 years, but the Finnish business will retain ownership of the brand. That will probably
mean that the Nokia brand disappearing from handsets in the next decade, ending over 30 years
history in the business.
Having started in 1865 with a pulp mill in the Finnish town of Tampere, Nokia reinvented itself
repeatedly, shifting to rubber boot production early in the 20th century, and then making its first
telephone exchange in the 1970s. Its first mobile phone appeared in 1981.
Rumours that Microsoft intended to buy Nokia had been floated since Elop joined the company.
Reaction to the deal was mixed.
Microsoft buying Nokia looks like doubling down on the current failing strategy, without changing the
dynamics that are preventing success, cautioned Benedict Evans at Enders Analysis.
Ben Wood at CCS Insight described the deal as a bold, but entirely necessary gamble by Microsoft .

A preliminary investigation for a criminal case does help out a crime scene investigation. Once a
crime has come to the attention of the police, a preliminary investigation is initiated.
Suspect
The object of the preliminary investigation is to find out who can be a suspect or whom is the suspect

Who Is The Narrator Of Bartleby The Scrivener

ceaselessly changing, the storyteller s attitude is gone on through the maker s use of theoretical parts,
for instance, lingual power particular and occupying, point of view first individual, and tone confuse

One of the unique parts that Melville uses that go on the storyteller s mindset towards Bartleby is

physiologists, physical education teachers, strength and conditioning coaches, personal trainers,
medical physicians, and sports nutritionists. Although there are many different job titles to choose
from, this career has a lot of competition. The job titles within this career has its differences and
similarities.
A physical therapist and an occupational therapist are two job titles that people feel are the same but
they are not. Physical therapists focus more on evaluating and diagnosing movement dysfunctions,
whereas occupational therapists focus on evaluating and improving a person s functional abilities.
However, they both involve educating people on how to prevent and avoid injuries

Narmer The Harvester
The Palette of Narmer, a 3000 2920 BCE piece from Hierakonpolis illustrates the unification of the
Upper and Lower halves of Egypt. The front of the Palette depicts the necks of felines entwined into a
loop, necks bound by string in what appears to be a restraining matter; visual evidence for that
unification, and dually serving as a compact to hold some of the iconic makeup Egypt is often
associated with. Also on the front, a bull representing the insurmountable strength of King Narmer is
seen charging a city s walls, hinting at Narmer s victory as King of the new Egypt. Narmer is
represented again wearing the red crown of Lower Egypt, as decapitated and fallen foe lay on his right
side. The back of the palette, not straying from the theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Harvesters Vase of Hagia Triada was crafted in the relief artistic style, meaning the artist added a
component of realism by giving the structures more depth and 3 D characteristics. While this wasn t
absent holistically in Egyptian art (evidenced by the very real pyramids and mastabas), generally
many pieces of its ancient art were 2 dimensional, drawn on papyrus scrolls in hieroglyphs or carved
into colored stone. The Harvesters vase though included that element as it shows figures that seem to
be on a beveled plane. Both the Egyptian and Minoan artists followed the trend of depicting people
with profile and frontal views, both pieces also having one person as a standout center figure. But with
the Harvesters vase the detail paid to the central figure was more of a visual one, then the symbolic
details associated with Narmer on the palette. The man is crafted with amazing anatomical detail as
his hallowed ribs are seen as he inhales. This is different than the attention to anatomical detail paid by
the Egyptians with their funerary process of mummification. The Egyptians attached significance to
different body parts based on their sense of spirituality and beliefs, whereas this artist seems interested
in the actual workings of the body. Namer s physique isn t given an excess of detail, it was more so his

Guardian Angel Movie Analysis

First of all, I want to say that this film surpassed all my expectations. Sometimes, I am hesitant when
it comes to angel films, but because of who the three stars are (and especially because of the male
lead), I was determined to give this film a chance. Furthermore, it is airing on Hallmark, and how
could I not watch it? If you are looking for a film that follows the Scriptural teachings of angels, this
might not be for you. I could speak to all the reasons why the theology of the movie is unsound, but
that is not why I watched this film. The film is so uncommonly well written and acted with such depth
that I could care less about whether the story could ever happen or not. The values of the film are
intact, and if nothing else, I applaud Hallmark for emphasizing the concept of free will (something
most Christians and church people esteem) and including the Lord s Prayer (how often do we see that
on network TV?). I did not plan on becoming emotional during this movie, but I literally spent the last
twenty minutes or so crying off and on because the story was remarkably poignant (and I wasn t
certain how it would end) and the three main actors Rachel Boston, Paul Greene, and Beau Bridges
are such phenomenal artists!

Mysteries Of The Mind Analysis
After conducting a close reading of Victor Davis Hanson s article, Monasteries of the Mind, I came to
the consensus that he provided many plausible and thought provoking arguments regarding the
political climate in the United States right now. He asserts in the article that in recent months there has
been a double standard from what was accepted and praised during the Obama administration and and
what is looked down upon in the Trump administration. In fact, Hanson accentuated that, There is now
something called the Resistance, which by its nomenclature poses that its opposition to Trump is
reminiscent of European partisan resistance to Hitler [1]. I find this accusation to be a bit extreme,
because while many of his policies anger and offend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Civilization continues to be indolent and naive and real change will never come about, because people
are too stubborn to ever change their ways and believe that their problems can be solved with someone
else s help. However, this help will never come, because of the never ending cycle of laziness that
embodies many Americans. Speaking of American s indolence, I was taken aback by Hanson s
assertion of sports and media with the general public, Instead, they have checked out mentally from
American popular entertainment, sports, and the progressive cultural project in general [1]. This was
shocking because I would think that more and more people are getting sucked into this dry form of
entertainment, because of their intruding laziness. Yes, there are certainly people who are beginning to
realize there are changes to be made to the country, however, I think that the majority of citizens are
still blind to the truth. Furthermore, I strongly disagree with Hanson s statement associated and
directed towards Colin Kaepernick who back in August of 2016 refused to stand for the national
anthem, as a $20 million per annum, mediocre, and pampered quarterback refuses to stand for the

Beowulf story is interpreted from two novels, Grendel by John Gardner and Eaters of the Dead by
Michael Cricthon. Beowulf also came up with movie form in 2007 which is starting Angelina Jolie as

begins when Beowulf heard that Heorot, the hall which is built by King Hrohtgar, attacked by a
monster known as a Grendel. Beowulf and his warriors travel by sea to Heorot. After he arrives at
Heorot, he fights with Grendel hand by hand and he kills the Grendel. When Beowulf and the others

While, on the poem, he returns to his homeland in Geats and becomes a king, but on the film,
Hrohtgar rewards him to be a king of Heorot and also marry with Hrohtgar s wife (eventough on the
poem, this part is not coming up with). In other case, a representation of Grendel in the poem and the
film has a bit differences. Grendel ,in the film form, comes up to Heorot and kill almost people in the
hall, but on the poem form, Grendel watches Beowulf as Hrothgar s coast guard and kill almost people
in the hall slowly. The differences also in the representation of Beowulf who is fighting with Grendel s
mother. The scene on the film shows that Beowulf is not killing Grendel s mother, but he kisses
Grendel s mother when he follows Grendel s mother till her lair. It is quite different when on the poem
form, Beowulf slays Grendel s mother in Grendel s lair. Back into the plot, the diffences also we can
see for the reason why the dragon attacks Beowulf s kingdom. There are two sources for the poem
which is differences from each other. First one is telling us that dragon attacks Beowulf s kingdom
because a thief distrubs dragon s treasure. The second is telling us that it is just happened, suddenly
the dragon attacks his kingdom. The scene on the film shows that Beowulf comes into lair of Grendel

retelling the story do not stop to check if the facts are actual facts. 2. I agree with what the author is

enough facts. This results in many interpretations of the situation. An example of this is with Ariana

What Is The Development Of Vibration-Based Damage...
A damaged structure can potentially threaten the safety and economical use of the system, and even if
it is not detected in the early stage, it may bring about structural failure over the time. Therefore,
devising effective non destructive damage detection methods has been the center of atten tion in civil
engineering studies during the last decades [1]. These methods can be classified as local and global
techniques. Since local methods, such as the X ray, magnetic particle, ultrasound etc., are limited to
detecting damage on or near the surface of structures, the need for global damage detection
techniques, which can be used for complex structures, has resulted in development of vibration based
damage detec tion methods (VBDD). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In model based methods, generally, there are two models. A refer ence model, which is a well
correlated model of the undamaged struc ture. An updated model that reproduces the measured
responses under the damage states by modifying the structural properties like mass, stiffness,
damping, etc. Making comparison between these two models provide damage location and severity.
Apart from this fact that structural mod els in these methods are Structural Matrix, Finite Element
(FE), Mapping or Meta Models, updated models can be modified in a direct way or in an iterative one.
Although, model based methods have physical mean ings and are easier to be interpreted compared
with abstract mathemati cal features, they are unfortunately computationally intensive and time
consuming. Thus, they are not usually practical for online damage detec tion and structural health

Halloween Meets The Short Story Summary
Halloween Meets The Short Story
1) A black cat is similar to Connie from Uneasy Home coming . A black cat is symbolistic in many
cultures and is superstitiously linked to misfortune. In Western tradition, black cats have been
associated with witchcraft. This is due to black being associated with supposed perils of the night, and
the cat is associated with transformation just as the veil of night shifts our perception of reality. This
relates to Connie struggling to adapt to the unusual shadows and growing darkness as the bloody sun
dripped down the horizon. Also, a black cat animal symbolism reminds us to not fall prey to false
beliefs, and to not be a fool out of anxiety and gain understanding from our own internal wisdom,
much like connie s intuition. Interestingly, cats prefer to be in the dark, however Connie feels safe in
the light. The cat asks us to realize that when we turn within to our ourselves, we will always have
power over illusion.

to participate in sports (Bailey et al 2005). There is limited support in terms of funding and media
coverage for womens sport (Parliamentary Committee Council of Europe, 2005). Media support for
men s sport is greater than for women s sport. This situation tends to undermine women participating
in sports (Duncan and Hasbrook 1988). Alongside dealing with problems related to stereotyping,
women athletes can expect less financial reward than their male counterparts there are pay inequities
(WFS 2011) and extremely unequal funding (Women s Sports Foundation 2011). Liang (2011) argued
that due to socialization, parents seek out male coaches for their daughters because of a general belief
in the superiority of male knowledge in sports. Theberge (2000) suggests excellence in sports has been
narrowly defined in terms that generally suit male athletes and hence, the perpetuation of male
authority (Watson 1993; Messner 1994). Due to the nature of socialization and stereotyping, it seems
that women equally hold to the belief that men know more about sports (Burke 2001). The notion that
women face challenges because sports is predominantly a man s world is supported by Woodward s
(2008) experience of not being welcome in the boxing gym because she was a

Multicultural Education in the Classroom
The Benefits of Multicultural Education in the Classroom I have grown up with Education being my
catapult through life; I love it. I love to study children and figure out how they learn and how our
educational experiences shape us as adults. Five years ago, I found myself accepting a position as a
Toddler teacher in a government facility. To describe it simply, I was a fish out of water. I had
experience with children, but not with children so small. This experience taught me a great deal about
learning in our great world. I was amazed to witness the pure relationships between children of all
races in that little toddler room. All color aside, the children seemed to embrace each other s
differences and celebrate in their dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with
issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and home.
Some schools reported vandalism and student frustration in regards to the change of scenery. In 2001,
busing for Charlotte students ended, but not without leaving a legacy. Since the termination of busing,
student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban school districts such as Los
Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004).
Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural movement
by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another school. The
concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the gap is
narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider themselves to be
middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent households earn just thirteen
percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). There are improvements to be made as the
economy continues to control and group together families within the same income bracket. Many
times, this binds families to certain schools with no other options available. Statistics show that from
1993 to 2003, there was a similar outcome regarding the schools middle class families attended. Out

What Is The Role Of The Army In The Federal Army
To arms! Your Country calls! was that slogan that echoed through the streets of every American city in
the spring of 1861. On April 12, Confederate forces fired shots against the Union held Fort Sumter.
Seven states declared secession from the Union before the battle, and four more seceded after. The
American Civil War had begun, and the urge to fight swept over the divided country s young men like
wildfire. From all walks of life, men charged by emotional oratory (Robertson Jr. 20), joined ranks to
live the romanticized life of a soldier, and assumed the war would be over in 90 days or less. However,
what most found, if not an early death, was that the war would drag on for four years. Nevertheless,
hundreds of thousands citizen soldiers met their country s call to defend their way of life, typically in
state volunteer militias, and this required organization in the federal army to ensure efficient
distribution of manpower. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is a common misconception that the Civil War was fought between the northern blue and the
southern grey , when, in reality, uniforms in the Federal Army ranged from grey, blue, green, to even
bright red. Each regiment, many were state militias, varied largely in appearance because of esprit de
corps and location from which men volunteered. To preserve individuality and maintain pride in units,
enlisted infantry uniforms from II Corps, Army of the Potomac, were, at times, vastly different in
aesthetics and construction, while others utilized standard federal uniforms, depending on material

Definition Of Stress
My definition of stress is something that continues to worry me until it solves or until I try to forget it.
My stress levels all depend on the day. If I m having a good day I tend to forget about all the
negativity versus if I m having a bad day. My stress range from small things such as social life and car
problems to big things such as school and health. My number one stress problems is my anxiety. My
anxiety stops me from doing a lot of things, it sometimes can send me into a slight depression mood. It
affects me in so many ways because it causes me to stress about other things such as my weight. My
weight is something I ve been struggling with my whole life. Last summer I reach my heaviest weight
ever, it caused me to sit in this house.

Nonrational Decision Making
In this case, there was absolutely the nonrational model of decision making being displayed. The
nonrational model of decision making displayed in this case caused major damage to our planet s
ocean life and killed workers that were on the oil rig. Nonrational decision making tries to explain
how decisions are made (Kreitner Kinicki). In this case, the two companies, BP and Transocean Ltd
made a nonrational decision by allowing the oil rig to continue to operate knowing that there was a
problem with it. Their decision making was bounded rationally which means the decision makers
wanted to make the decision is a rational way but were restricted by constraints (de Farias Godoi,
2009). In this case, the top two workers for each company inquired a personal issue ... Show more

Knowing that there was an issue, these top employees decided to decline the issue and move on with
operations. The proper solutions were not created to stop this disaster before it began to happen. They
did not optimize at all during their decision making which caused lives to be lost and our ocean to be
covered in oil killing many marine and land animals. Also, the top employees displayed to the world
the true meaning of the garbage can model which is broken down into four streams of events.
In conclusion, these two companies did not complete the steps to making a rational decision which led
to a disaster. This disaster was all over the news and cost both companies millions of dollars in clean
up and a new oil rig. As managers, it is important for us to ensure that we make a rational decision so
we can obtain a positive outcome. In this case, there was no positive outcome because there were
careless leadership mistakes and irrational decision making. The workers on the rig did not help the
situation either by pumping sea water to clear out

The Benefits Of Meditation
The sad truth is that while most of us are aware of the benefits of meditation, very few of us actually
have a regular meditation practice. There are a lot of obstacles to overcome in order to incorporate
meditation into our daily lives. I overcame those obstacles and have been meditating daily for two
years as well as meditating periodically throughout the day! Through meditation I have experienced
more peace and joy in my life, I ve become less reactive and less stressed and I have more energy and
creativity! And I know you can experience these benefits as well!
But first, I think it s important to define what meditation is? Many of us have misconceptions about
meditation. The most common misconception is that meditation is about getting rid of thought! That
would set anyone up for failure! Meditation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

become a distraction, he became my meditation!
If you are meditating and a distraction happens. Just notice it. Allow it to be. If it s something that
needs your attention, tend to whatever needs to be done, while still observing your breath!
Obstacle #6: Not knowing how to meditate
So many people feel that they don t know how to meditate. We make meditation more complicated
than it really is! Again, meditation is about being present in the moment. It s really about finding what
works for you!
Again, you can incorporate meditation into your life without taking time out of your schedule. Your
life can become a meditation. It is those moments throughout the day that we are fully present in the
moment that matter. And through meditation, we discover the bliss of being that we

most importantly the whole month is national breast cancer awareness month. There are millions of
people across the nation getting involved in this social movement for various reasons. For my friend,
Kris, it is something a bit more personal. Breast cancer awareness movement is a tool and outlet to
inform and express their emotions. Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the
breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or

men can get it, too. (Society, 2015) There is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In 1993, three boys were murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas. Because of the condition the victims
were in, the authorities believed that they were involved in a satanic ritual. Three teenagers were

Before the jury made a decision about the guilt of the defendants, the jury foreman talked to both an
attorney and the judge involved. A former attorney for the defendant Misskelley later noted that he
heard the judge and foreman speaking during a lunch break, and the foreman stated that the jury was
almost to a conclusion while Judge Burnett responded, You ll need food for when you come back for
sentencing, (arkansasonline.com 1). The judge was implying that the defendants were guilty before the
jury reached a verdict. It was known that the foreman was advocating that the defendants were liable
for the scandal. Although there was a retrial, it was still unjust because of the circumstances of the
deal. After many requests for retrial, the West Memphis Three received an Alford plea deal. The deal
is where the accused plead guilty while still professing their actual innocence, in cases where they
accept that prosecutors have sufficient information to acquire a conviction. The Alford plea contrived
that the defendants served 18 years and 78 days, which was the time that they served, and could not
seek domestic help for improper imprisonment. Even though the original convictions were repealed,

The Virus Is Contagious And Mutate
The ASF virus is highly contagious and spreads rapidly in pig populations through direct and indirect
contact. This virus can persist for long periods in pig products and the environment, and may be
endemic in feral or wild suids and in Ornithodoros ticks. Isolates of ASFV vary in virulence; some
strains are highly pathogenic, resulting in almost 100% mortality while others are low virulence or
asymptomatic isolates that can be difficult to diagnose [1].

Even North American swine herds are at elevated risk of accidental or deliberate ASFV introduction
from its widespread occurrence in Eastern Europe. Unlike most trans boundary viral infections, there
is no vaccine available against ASFV. Consequently, detection and elimination of infected animals
(surveillance) combined with quarantine, pig movement controls and high herd bio security are the
only methods to control and eradicate ASF [3]. This approach is costly and often prohibitively
expensive for food insecure and developing countries affected by the disease, increasing the
probability of ASF becoming endemic in those regions. African swine fever virus control is further
complicated by its complex ecology and transmission epidemiology. In addition to infection by direct
and indirect (fomite) contact among confined domestic swine, wild suids, and feral domestic hogs,
soft bodied ticks (Genus Ornithodoros) can transmit ASF and serve as virus reservoirs. Many wild
boars in Russia and the Caucasus have been infected by ASF since 2007, and there is evidence that
some pigs may become carriers [4] The Ornithodoros tick vector is also present in this region.
However, the roles played by wild boars, feral swine and tick vectors in ASFV eco epidemiology and
transmission in the Caucasus are unknown at this time. Humans are not

The Impact Of Martin Luther s Influence On The Catholic...
T he Mediaeval Church, headed by the Pope, was extremely rich and influential, claiming vast sums
of money from ecclesiastic tax and indulgences. Parts of the institution were corrupt (González, 1970,
p.17). Around this time, the Humanist movement was also gaining popularity, their focus on returning
to original Greek writings. Erasmus published the first Greek translation of the New Testament and the
Guttenberg printing press was invented, aiding the distribution of texts. Martin Luther (1483 1546)
was a German monk, having joined the Augustine monastery at Erfurt. He was devout, exceedingly
ascetic, but constantly felt he was an irredeemable sinner. He taught at the University of Wittenberg

The Church taught that Christ, Mary, and the Saints had done more than needed for their salvation,
thereby accumulating a treasury of merits which the Church could distribute, for a monetary fee, so
people could lessen their time in Purgatory . When Pope Leo X required more funds, he began a mass
selling of indulgences, claiming immediate release from any time in Purgatory, aided by salesmen
such as John Tetzel (Meister and Stump, 2016, p.324). Luther found this practice corrupt, abusive, and
theologically wrong, as it taught that people were denied the grace of God and ignored the importance
of faith and true contrition (Luther, 2002, p.549). Luther also had problems with how the Catholic
Church performed the Eucharist. He stated that the clergy held the sacrament captive from the laity
threefold: by denying them the wine, making mass a good work , and by holding it captive to
Aristotelian metaphysics by the doctrine of Transubstantiation (González, 1970,

Abu Ghraib Torture Essay
The acts of torture performed on the inmates at Abu Ghraib were both cruel and inhumane. But what if
the reason the guards tortured the inmates was due to the result of obedience from their superiors. The
cause of the torture of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib could have stemmed from situational factors
instead of the will of a few aggressive soldiers. Authority figures that use persuasive methods can be
very influential. There are many circumstantial possibilities as to why the guards treated the prisoners
cruelly. Most people don t attribute the torture to many situational and external causes. In this case,
most people attribute the torture to the internal faults of the guards when it could very well be outside
sources at fault. Fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Issue involvement is a type of involvement in which the attitudinal issue under consideration has
important consequences for the self (Franzoi, 2003, Pg 217). Once again, fear could have been an
issue in the persuasion of the guards. The guards realized that they had to do their jobs and act in
compliance with orders or face the consequences. In many of the torture pictures at Abu Ghraib, the
prisoners are wearing bags on their heads or something to mask their face. The supervisors of the jail
could have masked the inmates to make the guards feel less responsible about the vicious acts. Since
the victim was masked and cannot tell who is torturing them, a kind of separation is created between
the guard and the inmate. The results are also unequivocal in relation to the distance from the direct
exertion of violence: the greater the distance, the less the subjects feel responsible and the greater the
obedience (Meeus Raaijmakers 159). By masking the prisoners a sense of deindividualization and lack
of self awareness occurred because the soldier knows that the inmate does not know who he/she is.
Without such self awareness, the deindividuated don t think of themselves as separate individuals and
do not attend to their own inner values and behavioral standards (Franzoi 336). With this sense of
deindividualization, the guards performed actions they normally would not ever do. Since they

  • 2. Borderline Personality Disorder ( Borderline ) Research Paper: Borderline Personality Disorder Borderline personality disorder is a serious mental illness that directly affects one s behavior, moods, and relationships/socialization skills. Borderline personality disorder often is associated with co occurring disorders like depression, suicidal behaviors, anxiety, abuse of drugs and alcohol, as well as eating disorders. The behavior of a person diagnosed with borderline is also described to erratic and impulsive. The cause of borderline personality disorder is still not entirely clear at this point, although trials and studies suggest that it can be passed down through genetic traits. It is also suggested that one s environment/upbringing may play a huge factor in the diagnoses as well. Because borderline personality disorder was not considered a valid diagnosable illness until 1980(by clinical standard), the illness history is one that is more so rooted in the history of other illnesses ( What Is Borderline Personality, 2012, Para 1). Prior to its inclusion in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, borderline was considered to be overlapped with schizophrenia, non schizophrenic psychoses, and neuroses such as anxiety and depressive disorders. (Friedel, M.D., 2012, Para. 1). Because it was often associated with so many different illnesses, borderline was considered to be a throw away diagnoses because it only found purpose when patients did not fit the mold for other diagnostic requirements. ... • 3. Emily Dickinson s Poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death Death is everywhere. From the insect you killed this morning to the family member you lose recently, there is no force stronger than death. Emily Dickinson, a 19th century writer, indulges that fact but also goes beyond it in her work. Dickinson revisits the theme of death in her poetry. Through her work, she shows readers her fascination with death the emotions associated with it. In I heard a Fly buzz when I died and I ve seen a Dying Eye , Dickinson shows us a very intimate view of a person dying. The poem Because I could not stop for Death shows readers the journey to eternity after death and The Bustle in a House shows readers what happens to a family after death. These four poems by Emily Dickinson all share a central theme of death and give readers a very personal understanding of it. Emily Dickinson was born and educated in Massachusetts. She only remained in college for one year but still produced volumes of poetry. She was very introverted and towards the end of her life, she only wore white. Her poetry, as stated by the Academy of American Poets, reflects her loneliness and the speakers of her poems generally live in a state of want, but her poems are also marked by the intimate recollection of inspirational moments which are decidedly life giving and suggest the possibility of happiness ( Emily Dickinson. ). However, her works were never published while she was alive. After her death her family found 800 poems or 40 hand bound volumes ( Emily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Blue Zone Culture The biggest difference between the Blue Zones and the Rest of America is their culture. In these areas, individuals tend to be naturally more active and eat healthier. In all three areas, they eat a mainly plant based diet in combination with other fresh, healthy foods like whole wheat bread, nuts, beans, and cheese full of Omega 3 fatty acids. These communities also find natural ways to keep them active walking wherever they go, gardening, bike riding and most importantly finding ways to stay active if they choose to retire. These cultures also tend to have a social system that finds pride in their elders, so aging adults are surrounded with family and friends. They also pride taking time to relax and destress reducing stress hormones like cortisol. From the Blue Zone type of behaviors, I try to be active. With class and work, I do not always get to get out from the desk, but I go to the gym four or five days a week. I lift weights every day and do some sort of cardio at least three days a week. The biological aspects of aging would obviously highlight that healthy, active individuals with good genetics would age more successfully. The cultures of the Blue Zones encourage healthy habits which help increase the life span. Healthy habits can also help slow down, or even stop, some of the processes of primary and secondary aging these factors include natural and illness related changes. Cultures that promote cleaner eating habits and active lifestyles will naturally have a better chance of having healthy and happy elderly. Blue Zones tend to be small, close communities since they are so small and tight knit families may tend to stay in the area for generations. • 5. The Ride Home From Church The ride home from church wasn t much different from any other day. My mom was lecturing me about sports. This time it was about soccer. We would be starting games this week and my mom was worried, just like she usually is. Are you sure you want to keep doing this? She annoyingly asked me. I had gotten used to this because of the countless times before that she asked it There are so many other things you could do with yourself. You are in band, clubs, and have some amazing grades. You don t have to do this. Please stop. I said to her, like I normally would. I wish you could just do something safer, Gab. Especially after last year. At this point I ve heard all of it before and I had enough of it. I looked out the window, ignoring every word she said after that. Finally she decided it would be best if she left me alone. She must have finally come to her senses and realized that I wasn t going to change my mind. My eyes start to water slightly, You taught me never give up and I never will. We can t believing that something bad is going to happen. We have to have faith that everything will okay now. Anyway, you know how much I ve worked this. I m finally where I want to be and I can t let go now. I already lost cheer. My mom nods, choking on the words she wishes to say. She doesn t say another word the rest of the ride home. Do you have practice tomorrow? My dad asks as I walk through the door. Yes, and our first game is Thursday. I answer. I know, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Harvesters Vase of Hagia Triada was crafted in the relief artistic style, meaning the artist added a component of realism by giving the structures more depth and 3 D characteristics. While this wasn t absent holistically in Egyptian art (evidenced by the very real pyramids and mastabas), generally many pieces of its ancient art were 2 dimensional, drawn on papyrus scrolls in hieroglyphs or carved into colored stone. The Harvesters vase though included that element as it shows figures that seem to be on a beveled plane. Both the Egyptian and Minoan artists followed the trend of depicting people with profile and frontal views, both pieces also having one person as a standout center figure. But with the Harvesters vase the detail paid to the central figure was more of a visual one, then the symbolic details associated with Narmer on the palette. The man is crafted with amazing anatomical detail as his hallowed ribs are seen as he inhales. This is different than the attention to anatomical detail paid by the Egyptians with their funerary process of mummification. The Egyptians attached significance to different body parts based on their sense of spirituality and beliefs, whereas this artist seems interested in the actual workings of the body. • 15. Guardian Angel Movie Analysis Gabriel Gabby Messinger, a Guardian Angel who has trouble following the rules and is known for meddling in the love live s of others, is tasked by the Angel Michael to help the town of Angel Falls find its Christmas spirit again. First of all, I want to say that this film surpassed all my expectations. Sometimes, I am hesitant when it comes to angel films, but because of who the three stars are (and especially because of the male lead), I was determined to give this film a chance. Furthermore, it is airing on Hallmark, and how could I not watch it? If you are looking for a film that follows the Scriptural teachings of angels, this might not be for you. I could speak to all the reasons why the theology of the movie is unsound, but that is not why I watched this film. The film is so uncommonly well written and acted with such depth that I could care less about whether the story could ever happen or not. The values of the film are intact, and if nothing else, I applaud Hallmark for emphasizing the concept of free will (something most Christians and church people esteem) and including the Lord s Prayer (how often do we see that on network TV?). I did not plan on becoming emotional during this movie, but I literally spent the last twenty minutes or so crying off and on because the story was remarkably poignant (and I wasn t certain how it would end) and the three main actors Rachel Boston, Paul Greene, and Beau Bridges are such phenomenal artists! Speaking of American s indolence, I was taken aback by Hanson s assertion of sports and media with the general public, Instead, they have checked out mentally from American popular entertainment, sports, and the progressive cultural project in general [1]. This was shocking because I would think that more and more people are getting sucked into this dry form of entertainment, because of their intruding laziness. Yes, there are certainly people who are beginning to realize there are changes to be made to the country, however, I think that the majority of citizens are still blind to the truth. In other case, a representation of Grendel in the poem and the film has a bit differences. A damaged structure can potentially threaten the safety and economical use of the system, and even if it is not detected in the early stage, it may bring about structural failure over the time. Therefore, devising effective non destructive damage detection methods has been the center of atten tion in civil engineering studies during the last decades [1]. These methods can be classified as local and global techniques. Since local methods, such as the X ray, magnetic particle, ultrasound etc., are limited to detecting damage on or near the surface of structures, the need for global damage detection techniques, which can be used for complex structures, has resulted in development of vibration based damage detec tion methods (VBDD). A black cat is symbolistic in many cultures and is superstitiously linked to misfortune. In Western tradition, black cats have been associated with witchcraft. This is due to black being associated with supposed perils of the night, and the cat is associated with transformation just as the veil of night shifts our perception of reality. This relates to Connie struggling to adapt to the unusual shadows and growing darkness as the bloody sun dripped down the horizon. Also, a black cat animal symbolism reminds us to not fall prey to false beliefs, and to not be a fool out of anxiety and gain understanding from our own internal wisdom, much like connie s intuition. Interestingly, cats prefer to be in the dark, however Connie feels safe in the light. The cat asks us to realize that when we turn within to our ourselves, we will always have power over illusion. 2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 22. Women Athletes For Women s Sport 2.3.1 Participation Females generally are at risk of not benefiting from sports because of a lack of participation (Crouter, 2011). Women are deprived because of inequitable access to sports facilities and limited opportunities to participate in sports (Bailey et al 2005). There is limited support in terms of funding and media coverage for womens sport (Parliamentary Committee Council of Europe, 2005). Media support for men s sport is greater than for women s sport. This situation tends to undermine women participating in sports (Duncan and Hasbrook 1988). Alongside dealing with problems related to stereotyping, women athletes can expect less financial reward than their male counterparts there are pay inequities (WFS 2011) and extremely unequal funding (Women s Sports Foundation 2011). Liang (2011) argued that due to socialization, parents seek out male coaches for their daughters because of a general belief in the superiority of male knowledge in sports. Theberge (2000) suggests excellence in sports has been narrowly defined in terms that generally suit male athletes and hence, the perpetuation of male authority (Watson 1993; Messner 1994). Due to the nature of socialization and stereotyping, it seems that women equally hold to the belief that men know more about sports (Burke 2001). Isolates of ASFV vary in virulence; some strains are highly pathogenic, resulting in almost 100% mortality while others are low virulence or asymptomatic isolates that can be difficult to diagnose [1]. 1.1.1 History Discovery of the disease Notable epidemics/epizootics/outbreaks of this disease Historical mortality Once endemic in the Iberian Peninsula, ASFV was successfully eradicated from the European Union (EU) at the end of the 1990s after a prolonged 30 year effort. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even North American swine herds are at elevated risk of accidental or deliberate ASFV introduction from its widespread occurrence in Eastern Europe. Unlike most trans boundary viral infections, there is no vaccine available against ASFV. Consequently, detection and elimination of infected animals (surveillance) combined with quarantine, pig movement controls and high herd bio security are the only methods to control and eradicate ASF [3]. This approach is costly and often prohibitively expensive for food insecure and developing countries affected by the disease, increasing the probability of ASF becoming endemic in those regions. African swine fever virus control is further complicated by its complex ecology and transmission epidemiology. In addition to infection by direct and indirect (fomite) contact among confined domestic swine, wild suids, and feral domestic hogs, soft bodied ticks (Genus Ornithodoros) can transmit ASF and serve as virus reservoirs. Many wild boars in Russia and the Caucasus have been infected by ASF since 2007, and there is evidence that some pigs may become carriers [4] The Ornithodoros tick vector is also present in this region. However, the roles played by wild boars, feral swine and tick vectors in ASFV eco epidemiology and transmission in the Caucasus are unknown at this time. Humans are not ... • 35. The Impact Of Martin Luther s Influence On The Catholic... T he Mediaeval Church, headed by the Pope, was extremely rich and influential, claiming vast sums of money from ecclesiastic tax and indulgences. Parts of the institution were corrupt (González, 1970, p.17). Around this time, the Humanist movement was also gaining popularity, their focus on returning to original Greek writings. Erasmus published the first Greek translation of the New Testament and the Guttenberg printing press was invented, aiding the distribution of texts. Martin Luther (1483 1546) was a German monk, having joined the Augustine monastery at Erfurt. He was devout, exceedingly ascetic, but constantly felt he was an irredeemable sinner. He taught at the University of Wittenberg and came to form new theological ideas. He was a proponent of sola ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Church taught that Christ, Mary, and the Saints had done more than needed for their salvation, thereby accumulating a treasury of merits which the Church could distribute, for a monetary fee, so people could lessen their time in Purgatory . When Pope Leo X required more funds, he began a mass selling of indulgences, claiming immediate release from any time in Purgatory, aided by salesmen such as John Tetzel (Meister and Stump, 2016, p.324). Luther found this practice corrupt, abusive, and theologically wrong, as it taught that people were denied the grace of God and ignored the importance of faith and true contrition (Luther, 2002, p.549). Luther also had problems with how the Catholic Church performed the Eucharist. He stated that the clergy held the sacrament captive from the laity threefold: by denying them the wine, making mass a good work , and by holding it captive to Aristotelian metaphysics by the doctrine of Transubstantiation (González, 1970, ... • 36. Abu Ghraib Torture Essay The acts of torture performed on the inmates at Abu Ghraib were both cruel and inhumane. But what if the reason the guards tortured the inmates was due to the result of obedience from their superiors. The cause of the torture of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib could have stemmed from situational factors instead of the will of a few aggressive soldiers. Authority figures that use persuasive methods can be very influential. There are many circumstantial possibilities as to why the guards treated the prisoners cruelly. Most people don t attribute the torture to many situational and external causes. In this case, most people attribute the torture to the internal faults of the guards when it could very well be outside sources at fault. Fear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Issue involvement is a type of involvement in which the attitudinal issue under consideration has important consequences for the self (Franzoi, 2003, Pg 217). Once again, fear could have been an issue in the persuasion of the guards. The guards realized that they had to do their jobs and act in compliance with orders or face the consequences. In many of the torture pictures at Abu Ghraib, the prisoners are wearing bags on their heads or something to mask their face. The supervisors of the jail could have masked the inmates to make the guards feel less responsible about the vicious acts. Since the victim was masked and cannot tell who is torturing them, a kind of separation is created between the guard and the inmate. The results are also unequivocal in relation to the distance from the direct exertion of violence: the greater the distance, the less the subjects feel responsible and the greater the obedience (Meeus Raaijmakers 159). By masking the prisoners a sense of deindividualization and lack of self awareness occurred because the soldier knows that the inmate does not know who he/she is. Without such self awareness, the deindividuated don t think of themselves as separate individuals and do not attend to their own inner values and behavioral standards (Franzoi 336). With this sense of deindividualization, the guards performed actions they normally would not ever do. Since they remained anonymous with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
