The United States And The Middle East
Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence
over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized states
by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries called for
the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department of Public
Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over the area, the
removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new superpowers,
the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers were in stark
competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The Middle East
became a new battleground for the Cold War after the removal of France and Great Britain. The two
countries were drawn to the Middle East because of both their rivalry and their own specific interests,
but their actions had major regional repercussions on the area and the relations between countries. The
expression of the rivalry between the two countries came in three forms: direct engagement, alliances,
and military aid.
While the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the driving force behind the two
powers interests in the Middle East, both had their own specific agendas, which need to be realized
before focusing in on the rivalry itself. The Soviet Union had major

Boo Radley Suspicion Quotes
In the story To Kill a Mockingbird a man who is wrongly put under suspicion by a group of kids
shows he isn t bad at all, but a kind man. This is because Boo doesn t like to be in the spotlight.
Staying inside all day having no one to see you raises suspicion. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Miss
Maudie gives the reader a famous quote: Mockingbirds don t do one thing except making music for us
to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in corncribs, they don t do one thing but sing
their hearts out for us (p #) Boo Radley can be seen as a Mockingbird to the reader because he stays

Aristotle s Legacy Essay
Extraordinary achievements have been made through ancient civilizations. Philosophers that have
changed the way we look at things every day came from the ancient Greek world, especially during
the prosperous Golden Age of Athens, Greece. Aristotle, a famous philosopher, taught his philosophy
during this period of time in Greece. Using his intellect and astounding ideas, Aristotle created a
legacy that influenced people for ages. To start off, Aristotle was a widely known philosopher in the
Ancient Greek world born in Macedonia in the year 384 B.C. Not only did he take part in philosophy,
but he also contributed poetics, political science, and biology. All of these subjects were taught at his
school, the Peripatetic School of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here he met a group of Platonists where he continued to learn about Plato s philosophy. After staying
in Assos for three years, he moved to the island of Lesbos in Mytilene until 344 B.C. It was in this
same year that the Macedonian King Philip asked Aristotle to tutor his 13 year old son Alexandros III
later to be known as Alexander the Great. From the lessons he taught Alexander, he found he had
some disagreements with Plato which he used to make up his own philosophy. Disagreements
Aristotle had with Plato included his, previously mentioned, ideal world of eternal beings . Back when
Plato was still alive and teaching Aristotle, this foreign utopia seemed reasonable, but over the years
Aristotle began to think that true reality lay in the real, tangible world, not in a world that nobody can
see. This concept began the philosophy of Aristotelianism. To teach his new philosophy, Aristotle
established a teaching facility. He moved back to Athens, Greece to find a location for his school. It
was finally decided to be located in a sacred garden for the Greek god Apollo, the Lyceum. At the
Lyceum, Aristotle collected a substantial library of scrolls, founded a museum of natural history, and
shared his thinking with his students (Cook OL). To teach his students, Aristotle wouldn t stay in a
closed space. He would rather go outside and show his students the

Essay about A Home that I Can Point To
A Home that I Can Point To
We are moving once again. The new place is barely down the street, but we have to move again. This
is the fifth time in six years that I have moved from one apartment to another. Im glad we are finally
moving out of the old apartment, because the guy below us constantly banged on his ceiling when I
walked from one room to another. Its been awhile since I have had a place to call home, a place I can
grow fond of. I have hope that one day we will live in a house and not have to worry about cranky
neighbors or stairs to climb before I reach my front door.
As I read the short piece from Sandra Cisneross, The House On Mango Street, I began to appreciate
everything that I had in life. The story is narrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inside of the apartment was nothing special. Brown carpeting and peered off tiles made it feel
dead. The loud noise of the freeway right next door vibrated our home from time to time and
prevented us from keeping our doors open. From our balcony view all you could see was the freeway
and the tag writing on the neighbors fences.
I knew this place was not the greatest, but it was better than what we previously had. My mother
always knew how to make the best of things, so she and my stepfather decided to refurbish the entire
apartment. The best part about it was that we did it with our very own hands. Everything was perfect.
The tiles by the door, kitchen, and dining room were white with a splash of peach and gray. The
granite stone on the kitchen counter top matched perfectly with the tiles. The carpet and couches were
replaced to make the place look brighter and full of life. The wood on the wall touching only the
living room was also replaced with glass to make the room look and feel larger than it actually was.
The rooms were nicely decorated with the same granite, tile, and carpet. My room was full of dcor of
all my childhood memories; stuffed animals, books, and school awards were dispersed throughout the
room. Though we only lived there for four years, I keep the memories and love that home gave me
deep in my heart.
At the time, I thought where I lived was awful. But now, seeing this little girl suffer with bricks falling
from her walls,

Organic Farming Produces Organic Food
Eat it if you can Pronounce It The word Organic can be defined in multiple ways but what the word
basically means that the product is derived from living matter. Organic farming produces organic food.
The goal is to encourage soil and water conservation, reduce pollution, and constrain conventional
methods to fertilize and control weeds. According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration The term
organic is not defined by law or regulations FDA enforces. Foods that are organic does not necessarily
mean that they are healthy. There are organically refined unhealthy foods such as wholesome branded
cane sugar and Applegate branded pork sausages products that are labeled as organic but is obviously
not the healthiest choice. Labeling a food product as organic does not make consumption completely
healthy for infants. Drug Administration Organic produce derives from farming involving growth
without using any type of genetically modified organisms, synthetic fertilizers, sewage, and pesticides.
When meat products are organically refined the animals the meat comes from do not receive any
antibiotics or hormones that manipulate growth increase. The department of the United States
government that is responsible for programming anything related to food, agriculture and nutrition
(USDA) defines organic as food produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources
and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations.

The Negative Personality Of Albert Einstein
THE CREATIVE PERSONALITY OF ALBERT EINSTEIN
He is renown as the Father of solid state Physics , the famous 20th century scientist and a symbol of
intellectual independence and leadership (Cardona, 2005). Albert Einstein the Jewish mathematician
and physicist was born on March 14,1879 at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany. He is acclaimed for his
theories in physics specifically the theory of special relativity, the general theory of relativity and the
photoelectric effect (Howell, 2017). His special relativity theory summarised in the equation E=mc2 is
widely known even among those who don t understand physics. It s these theories that earned him the
international accreditation and acclaim in physics as the Nobel Prize winner in 1921(Parker 2007).
According to the 4P s of creativity, the press which is the external (structural) social environment one
grows up in largely contributes to one accessing information contained in a given domain
(Csikszentmihalyi, 1988). This is clearly demonstrated in Einstein s early life. His father and uncle
were engineers who ran a company that made electrical equipment based on direct current (Howell,
2017), thus he was exposed to so much the factual knowledge and underlying principles and tenets of
physics, machines and equipment s at his father s workshop.
Second to this is his personality, the internal (subjective) factors that triggers creativity according to
(Csikszentmihalyi 2014). Einstein was very curios and inquisitive by nature. The

Colin Powell Visionary Leadership
A lifetime of service to his country, Colin Powell had become a national hero right before our eyes. He
was selected as the only African American Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff to lead the strongest
military in the Desert Shield and Desert Storm War. His leadership was showcased as the Secretary of
State advising President Bush. Colin Powell was viewed the The most trusted man in America
(DeYoung, 2006) to American people. He was considered a visionary and ethical leader because of
wise leadership from his positions at highest level of government for four presidential administrations.
He has helped guide the nation through some of it most heart wrenching hours. Colin Powell is
considered a visionary because he developed the Powell Doctrine by using idealized influence to
persuade President Bush to use overwhelming force to essential win the war in 4 days. Also, he was an
ethical leader by challenging the Republican Party on race against African Americans as he supported
Barack Obama during the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns. Because of this support he fell into
the ethical trap of the loyalty syndrome to Barack Obama or the Republican party. I ll also discuss my
personal relevance to visionary leadership for leading the Fitness Improvement Program (FIP). I too

girlfriends and they became upset, but peacefully took them in their car. Ponyboy and Johnny returned
to the park and fell asleep. When Ponyboy returned home his brother became mad and roughly
smacked him across the face with the back of his hand. Feeling betrayed Ponyboy returned to the lot
with Johnny and they ran away. They relaxed and came to the park to talk. Mr. Sheldon and Randy

Act III (Closing Statement)
Johnny Cade should with no doubt be convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter against Bob Sheldon. If
any of the blaring pieces of evidence presented were to change your mind, then the fact that neither
Ponyboy Curtis or Johnny Cade were likely going to be hurt. After Ponyboy and Johnny angered the

Domesticating Exotic Animals
Should exotic animals be brought out of their natural habitat to please a person s wants? What does
exotic mean when pertaining to an animal? According to Merriam Webster dictionary exotic means
not living in the natural habitat the animal is accustomed to living. Taking an animal out of their
normal habitat is cruel and can be torturing. Keeping exotic animals as pets can also be cruel and
unusual punishment, not to mention the dangers that can occur. The expense to care for an exotic
animal can be very costly for instance the food, the space and vaccines if needed. Some exotic animals
can even carry diseases that can be spread to a young child or even an elderly person. Not to mention
the harm that can be done on a human at a given notice. Some states even have legalized that no one
person can own an exotic pet making the smuggling effort into the country costly or deadly to the
animal. Some states a person has to have a licensure in order to own an exotic animal but this does not
protect a person from harm or contracting a disease, this just means one can legally own an exotic
animal. Wildlife should be left just as the name states, in the wild, not as an exotic pet, in their natural
habitat.
With regard to keeping a pet, any animal can be mistreated and could possibly be a danger to their
owner, but exotic pets present some unique dangers to their owners in terms of creating some

Hypothyroidism Research Paper
Hypothyroidism: The Effects of an Underactive Thyroid Gland Within the endocrine system, the
thyroid gland plays an important role on daily function and activity. The thyroid gland is a butterfly
shaped gland located in front of the neck, right below the larynx. The thyroid gland produces thyroid
hormones, primarily T3 (thyroxine) and T4 (triiodothyronine) (NIDDK, 2013). It is very important
that the body produces the appropriate amount of thyroid hormones because these hormones affect
nearly every organ in the body. More specifically, thyroid hormones regulate an individual s
metabolism such as heart rate, energy use, energy level, and protein synthesis (Family Doctor, 2014).
Hypothyroidism is a disorder of the thyroid gland. Hypothyroidism ... Show more content on

Autoimmune diseases cause the immune system to attack the body s own cells, tissues, and organs
(Mayo Clinic Staff, 2015). Therefore, autoimmune diseases can cause the immune system to attack
thyroid glands. When this occurs, the attack causes inflammation and interference in thyroid hormone
production (NIDDK, 2013). Thyroid surgery that involves the removal of the thyroid gland may cause
hypothyroidism. Thyroid glands are surgically removed for people with cancer, certain diseases, and
hyperthyroidism (NIDDK, 2013). Radiation therapy, such as radioactive iodine, gradually destroys the
thyroid gland (NIDDK, 2013). With the absence of thyroid gland, this leads to hypothyroidism.
Congenital diseases, more specifically defective thyroid gland, can cause hypothyroidism. Some
infants are born with defective thyroid gland or no thyroid gland (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2015). The
pituitary gland produces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). TSH instructs the thyroid gland to
produce thyroid hormones (Family Doctor, 2014). Pituitary disorders may hinder and limit the
production of TSH by the pituitary gland. The lack of production of TSH directly affects the
production of thyroid hormones. Therefore, pituitary disorders may lead to hypothyroidism.
Medications can interfere with thyroid hormone production. This

Of the many historical eras, the 1960 era is regarded as one of the most controversial eras ever in the
history of America. However, this was not the anticipation that most of American citizens had. At the
very beginning of the 1960s, many believed that this was perhaps the most promising era yet. They

problems within the party since the radical members differed in opinion with the members that were in
support of their socialistic cause. This made the party s political motive to be disoriented and the
government at that time considered the party as a national threat.
The Black community of the United States was not the only entity that was fighting for its civil rights.
Gender inequality was still a societal vice that America was struggling with. During this time, men
were given more opportunities as compared to women in virtually every field and this led to the
second wave of the feminist movement. The job market viewed women as the less productive species.
One of the reasons why this notion was upheld was because the women needed time off when they
delivered and most employers believed the assertion that women would quit their job when they got
pregnant. More to this, the society had branded the man as the provider of the home. It was therefore
argued that men needed jobs and better pay than women because of the fact

Interweaving stories of previous outbreaks in Africa, Preston is able to portray how dangerous the hot
agents can be to the global human population. He splits the novel into four main sections: The Shadow
of Mount Elgon, The Monkey House, Smashdown, and Kitum Cave. These four sections serve as
guidelines for the time periods and topics of the story. Preston begins the story in 1980 where he tells
the devastating tale of a man he dubs Charles Monet who lived near Mount Elgon, (an important
location in the story and for virus research) a good location for exploring wildlife and nature. After a
visit to a place called Kitum Cave, Monet begins to suffer some very outlandish symptoms and
becomes very ill. He is taken to Nairobi Hospital in Kenya where he infects some of the doctors and
nurses who are treating him for the mysterious illness. A man named Dr. Musoke is helping to treat
Monet when Monet suddenly vomits and the vomit gets into Musoke s mouth. Since the symptoms are
not yet diagnosed, he doesn t think much of it until a couple days later where Musoke too becomes
very ill. David Silverstein, another doctor practicing in Africa, hears about the odd outbreak in Nairobi
and he decides to look more into the issue. Soon enough, he and his team find out that it is an agent
called Marburg (previously discovered in Germany but had traveled to Africa). Once Marburg is

Pros And Cons Of Undocumented Immigrants
The United States has been home to thousands of immigrants, whether they are documented or
undocumented. The debate that will be discussed is whether or not undocumented immigrants deserve
to stay, and who should be granted amnesty for coming here illegally. On one side, it is believed that
those who have been residing in the United States for a long period of time deserve to stay and gain
citizenship. However, on the opposing, it is argued that it is not morally right for these people to stay
because they have broken the law and have came here illegally. Moreover, I believe that those who
have been in the United States for longer than 5 years, or who have come over as children are entitled
to earn citizenship. First, undocumented children who have come into the United States are known as
Dreamers . During Obama s administration, a program called, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
(DACA) granted identity documents, financial aid, and work permits to undocumented youth was
enacted in 2012. DACA allowed undocumented children to stay in the U.S. as long as they were under
the age of 15 when they came to America, they have no criminal record, and they are currently
enrolled in either school or the U.S. armed forces. There are roughly 800,000 undocumented
immigrants who arrived as youths (Camarota 12). In my view, Dreamers have the right to stay in the
United States because they did not come over by choice. The circumstances for their arrival to the
U.S. cannot be

The Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse
The salt marsh harvest mouse is listed as an endangered species in 1970s. Its phylogeny is of the
Kingdom Animalia, the Phylum Chordata, the Class Mammalia, the Order Rodentia, the Family
Cricetidae, the Genus Reithrodontomys, and the Species raviventris. The closest living relative of the
salt marsh harvest mouse, according to genetic mapping, is the plains harvest mouse, R. montanus, a
western interior species that are found in Mexico and central US. Within the species of R. raviventris
there are the northern subspecies, R. r. halicoetes, and southern subspecies, R. r. raviventris both of
which reside in Northern California around the Bay area. The northern subspecies can be found in the
San Pablo and Suisun marshes of California, whereas the southern variant reside in the marshes of
Corte Madera, Richmond and South San Francisco Bay. Salt marsh harvest mice heavily depend on
dense coverage of the pickleweed (Salicornia virginica) their preferred habitat. In marshes with salt
tolerant plants, the mice escape the higher tides in winter through the use of said vegetation and
sometimes reside in the plants for a good amount of their lives. Mice also migrate to neighboring
grasslands as another way of escape during high winter tides. The mice are presumed to sustain
themselves on plant leaves, seeds and stems. In winter, they seem to prefer fresh green grasses. As for
the other three seasons, they tend to favor pickleweed and saltgrass. The northern subspecies of the

Bookmaster Inadequate Inventory but Excellent Customer...
When Drew wanted a new book, he did what most people would do; he went to the local Bookmaster
store. On the way to the store, Drew encountered traffic problems as well as a city bus blocking the
store s parking lot. Upon arrival he had a short wait before speaking with a customer relations
associate to check the availability of the book. The associate checked the computer and found the store
had two copies available. The associate and Drew looked for the book and discovered the book was
out of stock. Drew was given the option of driving 15 miles across town with the assumption that the
computer inventory was correct, and the book was actually in stock at another Bookmaster store. With
much frustration, Drew was leaving when the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the requested book was unavailable at that store, but the associated offered alternatives
to Drew. The alternatives included purchasing the book from another Bookmaster store across town,
transferring the book from another store, or using an e book version. However, Drew was not satisfied
with any of the alternatives, so he chose not to purchase the book. Despite Drew s dissatisfaction the
associate put forth effort to help Drew in locating a copy of the book which showed that the
employees at Bookmaster care about their customers wants and needs.
On the other hand, Bookmaster needs to improve a few areas to reduce the dissatisfaction felt by its
consumers. The first alteration that Bookmaster should investigate is how often the city bus blocks the
driveway to the store. If the bus is blocking the driveway numerous times throughout the day the store
could be losing customers because he/she was unable to park new the store. For example, if an elderly
or disabled customer wants to shop and is unable to park close to the building, he/she may decide to
continue on to the next book store or to make his/her book purchases online. In order to reduce or
eliminate customer frustration or dissatisfaction, the owners of Bookmaster should contact the city bus
manager. Bookmaster could suggest moving the bus stop by a couple feet to prevent the bus from
blocking the stores entrance or to ask if the bus driver could be made aware that he/she is blocking the

The Grunge Band In The 90 s
Robert Waldo Emerson once said, The biggest challenge in life is to be yourself in a world that is
trying to make you like everyone else (Emerson). This quote accurately depicts the intention of
creating music for others. In the 90s, the grunge and rap communities would express annoyance
towards how society functioned during this chaotic decade. The United States was undergoing an
economic boom which affected the music world. In terms of political change, the government and
society had disagreements over the scandals and controversial issues being discussed throughout
communities around the country. The 1990s revolutionized the grunge and rap music genre and its
society during that time by creating a sense of rebellion, self expression, a ... Show more content on

Its mixture of punk and heavy metal truly displayed their sense of frustration, anger, depression and
drug addiction ( Grunge Music ). However, as Shannen Doherty said The music felt real and honest
and true, and they captured what youth was going at that time ( Nirvana in the Nineties ). Based on
this statement, regardless of their messages, this anger infused band truly believed that citizens should
be fully aware of the toxic problems that were going on in society. Examples of societal issues
included several crimes such as assault, prostitution, and robbery that were committed under the
influence of drugs (USA, DEA 91). Drugs, specifically heroin, were a major issue at the time. Heroin
was previously smuggled into the United States from Asia, but it had a new source during the 90s
South America. The percentage of Southeast Asian heroin from the DEA s Heroin Signature Program
rose from 9 percent in 1977 to 58 percent in 1991 (USA, DEA 95). Because of this increase in heroin,
it became more common to find in the United States. Even Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana,
had a heroin addiction. When he committed suicide in 1994, it was shown that he had heroin in his
bloodstream. Several other grunge artists at the time were involved with drugs such as Alice in
Chains, Sublime, and Hole (Rosier). Because of this, parents began to hate the type of music teenagers
were being absorbed in during this time. For example, in the introduction of Grunge: Music and
Memory Catherine Strong recalls her experience of grunge and said, The rough metal boys and the
soft, ballad loving girls all got Nirvana, and agreed that it was good, and our parents hated it, (Strong
1). Teenagers felt very isolated at this time, but became united through grunge. Teens felt like they
could look up to artists such as Kurt Cobain because [Kurt Cobain] sang the fear, and the anger, and

Autumn Rhythm, By Robert Rauschenberg, And Marilyn Diptych
Abstract Expressionism began in the 1940s and the 1950s in New York after World War II from the
ideas of Surrealism about art that looks to examining the unconscious mind, and the feelings people
hold that makes us all humans. Through the discussion of Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) by Jackson
Pollock, I will define Abstract Expression and why this work is part of this movement. Then, through
the discussion of Canyon by Robert Rauschenberg, Target with Plaster Casts by Jasper Johns, and
Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol, I will explain Assemblage and Pop Art and why each of these
works belong to those movements. Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) is Jackson Pollock s most famous
piece that shows action painting, a defining technique of Abstract Expressionism, and his innovative
drip painting technique he developed in 1940. Pollock created his piece by placing the canvas on the
floor, then he used brushes, or even his hands and started to drip the paint on the surface. His distinct
technique of painting makes him absorbed in the creation of his art piece without being aware of what
he is doing. Therefore, Pollock is free from realism and from his own self through painting because it
relieves his anxiety now that he is focused only on his art. Pollock s work is classified as non objective
because Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) cannot be related to any recognizable object from real life, so
he is not constraint by reality, but goes outside the box as if liberated to soar free and paint from his

The Inhumanity Of Zoos
Masters of Disguise: The Inhumanity of Zoos
Every year approximately 175 million people go to aquariums, and zoos to spectate and ponder at the
vast number of wildlife from every corner of the world ( Static Brain, n.p.). Little do visitors know
that they are witnessing firsthand the imprisonment and inhumane treatment of innocent animals.
Wildlife should not be kept captive where they are exposed to overwhelming isolation, a shortened life
span, and in the rare occasion when they are released back into the wild deprived of natural instincts to
help them survive.
Similar to humans, animals are living creatures who require interaction with their own kind; however,
when they are kept in captivity these animals are frequently exposed to isolation. Wild animals
commonly live in groups, whether it be a pride of lions, pack of wolves or a pod of whales. One
particular example pertains to the natural grouping of elephants in the wild versus the complete
solitary environment in which they are kept in when captive. That being said, elephants naturally live
within large family groups and are one of the most socially complex animals outside of man. Yet in
zoos they are kept either alone or with only one or two other unrelated elephants ( Los Angeles Times,
n.p.). As if removing them out of their natural habitat was not enough, zoos separate animal s families
and place them in different exhibits with other animals they are not accustomed to; thus, each
individual is left feeling

Information Technology Pros And Cons
Introduction
Today is the world of computers, smart phones, and immediate satisfaction. One can easily pick up his
or her smart phone and Google something for a quick, easy answer. The Google world, according to
Aspray (2011), has actually caused a shift in how people research and find necessary data (p.234).
One does not have to go to the library or a print encyclopedia anymore because a whole world of
information can be at one s fingertips through the use of phones, tablets, laptops, etc.
When it comes to finding information, there are both pros and cons to some of the newer technology.
First of all, one improvement would be that information is much more accessible to the common
person. However, the problem comes when there is so much information available that almost anyone
can contribute the massive information bank so that fake news and information that is not completely
accurate, and sometimes simply wrong, can become what people are using for every day information
and research.
Although modern technology has allowed for a lot of bad information to spread, it has also allowed
for easier access to accurate information and the professional sources. Many tools have been created
for finding good sources. Library discovery tools are one type of tool that have made searching for
professional sources yet more efficient.
What are Library Discovery Tools?
Discovery tools, according to Aharony (2015), provide one box searching for all library content with a

Comparing Of Mice And Men And What s Eating Gilbert Grape
What s Eating Gilbert Grape Dir. Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two
very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. In Of Mice and Men George cares
for his mentally challenged friend Lennie, and in, What s Eating Gilbert Grape, Gilbert takes care of
his mentally disabled brother Arnie. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence
of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. In the end of What s Eating
Gilbert Grape, Gilbert s mother dies; in a dramatic and tangible gesture to rid himself of his past,
Gilbert burns their house down. In a symbolic similarity, at the end of Of Mice and Men George kills

George kills Lennie not because he doesn t like Lennie but because he s tired of dealing with him, and
he wants to be able to start over and have a good life, and he knows he can t if Lennie is around.
George is always saying how he wants him and Lennie to live on a farm but is always doubting if
Lennie can stay on track, and he is always wondering if Lennie is gonna mess up their chances.
Comparably Gilbert s decision to burn down his house is his way of proclaiming his starting over, and
symbolically saying that nothing good ever came of that house and that nothing ever would. Gilbert is
talking to Becky and is saying how much he hates living in his house and that he hates how lazy and
fat his mom is. This is more obvious for Gilbert because throughout the whole movie he is completely
selfless and only cares about taking care of his family. Both of their decisions were very important to
show that they were finally taking control of their lives, and that they decided to finally do something
for themselves. Unfortunately in order to do this both characters looked to destructive and violent
ways of freeing themselves. Perhaps these burdens were so great that they had to take destructive
measures to alleviate themselves from them, or perhaps they simply never learned another away and
had to take extreme measure to enact any change in their

This is of particular interest to M S who may require financial aid to finance the renovation of its

recession will have on Tesco and M S respectively. Another indication of how efficient the companies
are in purchasing and selling goods is the stock turnover Ratio (J. R. Dyson, 2004, 258). As a group M

Homeless people who look clean and neat are usually truly homeless and in need of genuine help
because they are taking advantage of programs that want to help them such as Charities and churches.
Some of the dirty homeless people will actually reject help. The drug addicts will reject a sandwich if
offered to them because they want the money instead. Remember the homeless guy from Scary Movie
that said, I said a dollar, bitch! and tossed the sandwich back at the main character? Some dirty
homeless people are really like that. As stated earlier, homeless people ,of course, are humans, so they
have human ways. They could be very picky eaters and will ask that you buy them certain foods. I
knew some homeless people who were vegetarians! I was one. There are also soup kitchen and food
pantries if you need something quick and free to eat. You can recognize a homeless person based on
the clothes they wear. A laborer would typically wear dirty clothes, which is normal, however, if you
see a person who is wearing dirty clothing with obvious dried up stains that haven t been washed out
in months then they might be a homeless person. Some homeless people don t go to the laundromat
for various reasons and others are always there because of course they want to stay clean and their
skin healthy. As stated earlier, the drug addicts or people with mental disabilities will choose not to

Vertigo Research Paper
Care Services and Vertigo
According to ENT Today, 70 percent of seniors over 65 years old experience bouts of vertigo. When a
person has vertigo, they have the feeling of their body moving when it isn t. This is typically described
as a spinning, tilting, swaying, or pull in a single direction. While people of all ages experience
vertigo, it is especially dangerous for seniors because of the increased risk of falls.
The most common form of vertigo according to WebMD is known as benign paroxysmal positional
vertigo (BPPV). This particular vertigo includes sudden and short incidents brought on by sudden
head movement such as standing from a chair or rolling over in bed. It typically last from 15 seconds
to a minute and is not serious.
While BPPV may be the most common, Dr. Herman Jenkins, Professor and Chair of the Department

Summary Of The Book By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Chapter 1 5 The book opens with a description of people founding a new colony, later revealed to be
Boston, and setting aside parts for a cemetery and a prison. The prison is described as ugly and
weather stained. Also pointed out is the presence of a rose bush in front of the prison gate that has
somehow been kept alive. A rose is offered to the reader on the basis that it could symbolize a moral
blossom or relieve the darkening close of a human frailty and sorrow (Hawthorne 42). After this brief
description, the story begins with a crowd gathering in front of the prison to see Hester Prynne serve
her punishment. There are a group of hard featured women who debate the punishment Hester has

comes from above Hester drawing her attention. It is from the balcony where the governor and men of
dignity are seated, watching Hester s punishment. The voice belonged to reverend John Wilson, the
eldest clergy man of Boston. He introduces Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale who then speaks to Hester and
the audience, asking Hester to tell them who the man involved is so that he may stand with her on the
platform. [This part is rather interesting because prior to this I had always thought/been informed that
everyone only cared about Hester s sin. I had always blamed sexism and stereotypical gender roles as
the reason behind Hester s punishment but it seems that the people of Boston wanted to punish the
male party just as much.] While Reverend Mr. Dimmesdale has a very convincing voice, Hester still
refuses to give a name.
Hester is now again in her prison cell with her child and is obviously mentally unwell. A doctor is
called and administers medicine to both Hester and her child. Hester admits to previously having
suicidal thoughts and to being depressed. The stranger that was in the crowd comes to her cell; it is her
husband, Roger Chillingworth. He expresses anger and disappointment in Hester s actions and Hester

that are omnipresent within the healthcare setting: Paternalism, Partnership, Friendship, Contract, and

social frameworks to appeal to ethical principles related to informed consent or shared decision

substantial purpose of using these models is to help alleviate the excruciating effects of disease, there
are drawbacks to these models where efforts to respect patient autonomy may aggravate a patients

Generational Differences Of Generation X And Post-Millennials
Generational Differences of Generation X and Post Millennials When observing the core ideologies of
a group, the various circumstances to which the said group was exposed profoundly impacts their
beliefs, in turn developing the methods through which their ideologies arise in society. Pertaining to
the values of given generations, the stark contrast existing between the application of their values
often compromises the structure of society as a whole as the conflicts arising between the said groups
exacerbates societal similarities between generations. With the disparity existing between the lives of
those from Generation X and Post Millennials and consequently their values, the cumulated ideology
of society, existing from a combination of both groups values, has challenged the well being of the
state of health and in turn, initiated the deterioration of genuine interaction and integrity. Considering
those associated with Generation X, their core values, grounded in independence coupled with
stability, allowed society to develop a structure through which individuals could function. Prior to
beginning to perceive the values of the generation themselves, one must first observe their
manifestation given the context of the time period. In observing the socioeconomic situation of the
time, an era of two income families, rising divorce rates, and a faltering economy (Kane), one notices
the breeding ground for their individualistic ideals and consequently their core ideologies grounded in
tangible success rather than true fulfillment. The necessity to adapt to the home situation often
containing two working parents, often divorced, inevitably allowed those in Generation X to develop a
sense of independence a more importantly, perceive the need for it, from a young age. Given this
sense of stoicism that was allowed to develop through this, one can see the generation s almost
impervious nature to the psychological implications of social jealousy. Due to their individualism and
distaste for social ingratiation, the generation established an underlying pragmatic nature in the society
of their time. In addition to this, Generation Xers grew up in an age of incessant political turmoil. Take

Overcoming Cross Cultural Differences Of Communication
Overcoming cross cultural differences in communication at Tearroir
单丝不成线,独木不成林
A single thread cannot become a cord, and a single tree does not make a forest. This Cheng Yu is
about cooperation and being part of a larger whole. Its roots stem from Confucian beliefs of organized
society through togetherness. This is in stark contrast to the emphasis placed on individualism in some
Western countries.
Introducton
Tearroir is a global tea brand that sources premium loose leaf tea from 7 countries. The need to
overcome cross cultural difference in communication is a major issue in achieving affective
knowledge transfer and performance in today s globalised world (Holden, Von Kortzfleisch, 2004,
pp127). Knowledge evolves as both organisations and individuals adapt to internal/external
environments, it is one of the most important assets for any organisation (Rivera Vazquez, Ortiz
Fournier, Flores, 2009, pp257). Cross cultural differences are never more of a barrier to successful
communication inl business than in the case of verbal and non verbal communication (McShane,
Olekalns, Travaglione, 2010, pp367). Tearroir s mission statement is the best teas on Earth for this to
be realised we need to be effective communicators with people from varied cultural backgrounds.
Cross cultural communication issues often occur because people react to situations based on beliefs,
values and expectations of their own culture, the examples of face and guan xi will be discussed in the

Anne Bradstreet Tone
It is not a secret that women in the seventeenth century were oppressed. Puritan society deemed
women to be useful mainly within the household. It was very uncommon for women to be respected
as authors or even be educated enough to do so. Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue was a controversial
work for a woman in Puritan society, as it challenged men to share the literary world with women.
Through heavy sarcasm and self deprecation, Bradstreet defends women writers from the criticism of
men. The sarcastic tone of the poem starts right at the first stanza. The speaker begins the poem by
stating that she will not be writing about wars or kings. She finds that poets and historians, or rather
men, are better equipped to handle such topics than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the self deprecating tone she has been carrying is not yet put to rest. She writes, Men can do
best, and Women know it well, which makes the poem a bit less scandalous, but to some may seem to
be thickly laced with sarcasm (37). She tells the readers that men were, by nature, given the tools to
succeed rather than women, yet still manages to demand that men acknowledge that women are
capable writers as well with Yet grant some small acknowledgement of ours (42). The concluding
stanza also attempts to earn women the right to play the same game as men, while also trying not to
make the men feel threatened. Bradstreet writes that the men can keep the bays of a great poet, her
speaker would rather have a wreath made out of typical cooking spices. This relates back to the
domestic duties women were expected to perform in Puritan society. She tries to make her male
readers more accepting with the final two line of the poem: This mean and unrefined ore of mine/Will
make your glist ring gold but more to shine (47 8). Bradstreet argues that if women were given the
same respect in terms of writing as men, it wouldn t take from the male writers. In fact, it would make
the men seem even more talented than they already are when compared to women

with just a computer. However, what does the word prototype actually mean? Prototyping is the
process of making an early sample of a product, built to test a concept or process, or it s a thing meant
to be replicated or learned from. However, it is not just limited to the engineering field; it can also be
applied to the arts and sciences. One form of prototyping one could use is called 3D printing, where
you have to design an object using a 3D modeling software and send it to a 3D printer to be printed.
Generally speaking, this is a relatively fast and cheap method of making a prototype, as the materials
are fairly cheap, and you can design what you want printed from the comfort of your own home. The
type of machine you use will affect the parts quality. With a higher end printer, you can print

Jazz Dance History
KEEP CALM AND JAZZ ON
The Jazz dance form is quite popular and is enjoyed by all for its energy and rhythm. It is often
thought of as an American creation, but it truly originates from a form of dance that was African
American in origin. This occurred during the late 1800s. The first man to officially perform jazz dance
was an American called Joe Frisco in around 1910. Though this was the first recorded history of jazz
dancing, its roots seemed to lie further in the past than this.
When slaves were transported from Africa to America, they were allowed by their traders to dance as
it kept them physically fit and emotionally going. The moves thus created by these slaves were a
number of jazzy steps that no one knew would become a major dance ... Show more content on

The Lindy Hop and Jitterbug Originally devised in the late 1920s, in the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem,
The Lindy hop is characterized by intricate solo footwork following breaking away from the embrace
of a couple. Popularly it is known as the jitterbug today. The name, though now encompassing many
dance styles, formerly was thought to have originated from the fact that the whites when danced the
Lindy Hop they appeared to be intoxicated.

where dancers dance to a medley of blues and big band swing. The boogie woogie is a fast moving

Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne
If it is important, it is remembered. If it has any value, it will last far into the future, if not forever.
This is why Michelangelo s David, the Mona Lisa, the automobile, The Beatles, and Pride and
Prejudice are all remembered. If it is the first to make an impact, it becomes important. That is when it
will affect people in future generations. For example, the Model T is not produced anymore, but is the
grandfather of almost every car made today, affecting jobs, businesses, people, and the world. The
Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is taught today because it was one of the first important
American written novels that contained obvious symbolism. Since symbolism is used in everything of
literary merit, it is important to see where it started. In the same way, The Adventures of Sherlock
Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has lasted through the years and still be prevalent today. This is
achieved in the original books and continuing in spin offs and adaptations.
Sherlock Holmes holds the Guinness World Record for literary character most frequently portrayed on
screen. Over one hundred actors have played Holmes on screen. There are over two hundred and fifty
movies, hundreds of episodes, and even plays based around Doyle s writings with the first known
Sherlock Holmes movie debuting in 1905. The first American Sherlock Holmes actor was William
Gillette, who played him on stage in 1899 and on film in 1916 (Dawidziak, n. p.). The many
adaptations make it very hard to

Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars
The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial Warfare was
first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From biplanes to dropping
nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain the advancements and
rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second World Wars. In the beginning
of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use
of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World
War 1 was the first legitimate war with air combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans
heavily invested in aircraft technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka Dive
Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber machine guns
and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale, and their true power
was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed how aircraft could use
torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to transport supplies and troops
were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used. Perhaps the most famous paratrooper
mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944.
Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed,
which was effective for resupplying. Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective
during the war. Aircraft played a vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology
changed because of it. In World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the
outcome of many important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. In conlusion, over both of the
World Wars aircraft warfare started from nothing and ended with nuclear bomb droppers and jet
engine

Parole Officers And The Prison System
The world we live is constantly changing whether we are on the streets or in the prison system.
Society doesn t understand that being in the prison is the almost the same as being on the streets. For
instance, there are inmates that sell drugs and rob and kill people and cover it up just as if
they were on the streets. There are correctional officers that work there, but they can t observe
everything that goes on in the prison system. This is one of the reasons that being a parole officer
would be a good job to have. The streets are already bad enough so taking some of the bad guys
off the streets can help get the community back under control. Parole officer not only help in the
streets the help in the court house. Parole officers can help the judge make decisions on what the
inmate should be given whether its freedom or jail time. Parole officers have allot of offenders to
keep in contact with when they have not had contact with the offender this becomes a violation
and their parole can be revoked. (https://pap.georgia.gov/parole violations revocations) In the
past few years I have seem allot of inmates in back in prison because they could not follow the
guidelines for parole and they were sent back to prison to finish their sentence. When an offender
applies for parole a form filled and sent to his counselor which sends it on to parole. When the
parole board looks at an inmate, they look at everything especially his disciplinary history this is

A True Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Beowulf
In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh was a strong, brave man with powers that are debatably super
natural who fought supernatural enemies. It is the oldest written story known to exist, the oldest
existing version dates back to 2000 B.C.E. yet its hero parallels Beowulf, whose poem is thought to
have been originated from anywhere between the 6th and 11th centuries (The Epic 1; The Editors 1).
Despite this large gap in time periods, both of the epic poems agree mostly on what a hero is and what
he should be, a strong, brave, morally upright warrior. In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by
Seamus Heaney, Beowulf exhibits the traits of a true hero and good person in the eyes of the Anglo
Saxons through his loyalty, bravery, and skill in battle. Beowulf, a warrior and the protagonist,
demonstrates that he is a hero through his loyalty. Beowulf goes to help the Shieldings, a strong and
old family, fight against Grendel, a demon, and is talking with Hrothgar, head of the Shieldings, about
how their families friendship started. Hrothgar tells Beowulf that Beowulf s father killed a Wulfing,
another family, so a war was looming between their peoples. Beowulf s father then escaped to the
Shieldings for safety and Hrothgar shipped a treasure trove to the Wulfings and on that day, Beowulf s
father, Ecgtheow, pledged to Hrothgar with oaths of allegiance (Beowulf 472 473). Hrothgar paid the
price for Ecgtheow s crime and so he pledged allegiance to him. Beowulf came to help the

  • 3. The United States And The Middle East Following World War II, the major international powers in the Middle East began to lose influence over the area. In 1946, France and Great Britain were forced to withdrawal from their colonized states by the United Nation Security Council when a delegation of the Middle Eastern countries called for the removal the colonial mandates on Middle East, specifically in Palestine (Department of Public Information). While Britain and France did not completely abandon their influence over the area, the removal of their direct influence over the Middle East left an opening for the two new superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, to enter the scene. The two world powers were in stark competition after World War II in an attempt to spread their political ideology. The Middle East became a new battleground for the Cold War after the removal of France and Great Britain. The two countries were drawn to the Middle East because of both their rivalry and their own specific interests, but their actions had major regional repercussions on the area and the relations between countries. The expression of the rivalry between the two countries came in three forms: direct engagement, alliances, and military aid. While the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union was the driving force behind the two powers interests in the Middle East, both had their own specific agendas, which need to be realized before focusing in on the rivalry itself. Philosophers that have changed the way we look at things every day came from the ancient Greek world, especially during the prosperous Golden Age of Athens, Greece. Aristotle, a famous philosopher, taught his philosophy during this period of time in Greece. Using his intellect and astounding ideas, Aristotle created a legacy that influenced people for ages. To start off, Aristotle was a widely known philosopher in the Ancient Greek world born in Macedonia in the year 384 B.C. After staying in Assos for three years, he moved to the island of Lesbos in Mytilene until 344 B.C. From the lessons he taught Alexander, he found he had some disagreements with Plato which he used to make up his own philosophy. Disagreements Aristotle had with Plato included his, previously mentioned, ideal world of eternal beings . Back when Plato was still alive and teaching Aristotle, this foreign utopia seemed reasonable, but over the years Aristotle began to think that true reality lay in the real, tangible world, not in a world that nobody can see. This concept began the philosophy of Aristotelianism. To teach his new philosophy, Aristotle established a teaching facility. He moved back to Athens, Greece to find a location for his school. It was finally decided to be located in a sacred garden for the Greek god Apollo, the Lyceum. At the Lyceum, Aristotle collected a substantial library of scrolls, founded a museum of natural history, and shared his thinking with his students (Cook OL). This is the fifth time in six years that I have moved from one apartment to another. Im glad we are finally moving out of the old apartment, because the guy below us constantly banged on his ceiling when I walked from one room to another. Its been awhile since I have had a place to call home, a place I can grow fond of. I have hope that one day we will live in a house and not have to worry about cranky neighbors or stairs to climb before I reach my front door. The loud noise of the freeway right next door vibrated our home from time to time and prevented us from keeping our doors open. My mother always knew how to make the best of things, so she and my stepfather decided to refurbish the entire apartment. The best part about it was that we did it with our very own hands. Everything was perfect. The tiles by the door, kitchen, and dining room were white with a splash of peach and gray. The granite stone on the kitchen counter top matched perfectly with the tiles. The carpet and couches were replaced to make the place look brighter and full of life. The wood on the wall touching only the living room was also replaced with glass to make the room look and feel larger than it actually was. The rooms were nicely decorated with the same granite, tile, and carpet. My room was full of dcor of all my childhood memories; stuffed animals, books, and school awards were dispersed throughout the room. • 23. Pros And Cons Of Undocumented Immigrants The United States has been home to thousands of immigrants, whether they are documented or undocumented. The debate that will be discussed is whether or not undocumented immigrants deserve to stay, and who should be granted amnesty for coming here illegally. On one side, it is believed that those who have been residing in the United States for a long period of time deserve to stay and gain citizenship. However, on the opposing, it is argued that it is not morally right for these people to stay because they have broken the law and have came here illegally. Moreover, I believe that those who have been in the United States for longer than 5 years, or who have come over as children are entitled to earn citizenship. First, undocumented children who have come into the United States are known as Dreamers . During Obama s administration, a program called, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) granted identity documents, financial aid, and work permits to undocumented youth was enacted in 2012. DACA allowed undocumented children to stay in the U.S. as long as they were under the age of 15 when they came to America, they have no criminal record, and they are currently enrolled in either school or the U.S. armed forces. There are roughly 800,000 undocumented immigrants who arrived as youths (Camarota 12). In my view, Dreamers have the right to stay in the United States because they did not come over by choice. Its phylogeny is of the Kingdom Animalia, the Phylum Chordata, the Class Mammalia, the Order Rodentia, the Family Cricetidae, the Genus Reithrodontomys, and the Species raviventris. The closest living relative of the salt marsh harvest mouse, according to genetic mapping, is the plains harvest mouse, R. montanus, a western interior species that are found in Mexico and central US. The northern subspecies can be found in the San Pablo and Suisun marshes of California, whereas the southern variant reside in the marshes of Corte Madera, Richmond and South San Francisco Bay. Salt marsh harvest mice heavily depend on dense coverage of the pickleweed (Salicornia virginica) their preferred habitat. In marshes with salt tolerant plants, the mice escape the higher tides in winter through the use of said vegetation and sometimes reside in the plants for a good amount of their lives. Mice also migrate to neighboring grasslands as another way of escape during high winter tides. The mice are presumed to sustain themselves on plant leaves, seeds and stems. Despite Drew s dissatisfaction the associate put forth effort to help Drew in locating a copy of the book which showed that the employees at Bookmaster care about their customers wants and needs. On the other hand, Bookmaster needs to improve a few areas to reduce the dissatisfaction felt by its consumers. The first alteration that Bookmaster should investigate is how often the city bus blocks the driveway to the store. For example, if an elderly or disabled customer wants to shop and is unable to park close to the building, he/she may decide to continue on to the next book store or to make his/her book purchases online. This quote accurately depicts the intention of creating music for others. In the 90s, the grunge and rap communities would express annoyance towards how society functioned during this chaotic decade. The United States was undergoing an economic boom which affected the music world. Based on this statement, regardless of their messages, this anger infused band truly believed that citizens should be fully aware of the toxic problems that were going on in society. Examples of societal issues included several crimes such as assault, prostitution, and robbery that were committed under the influence of drugs (USA, DEA 91). Drugs, specifically heroin, were a major issue at the time. Heroin was previously smuggled into the United States from Asia, but it had a new source during the 90s South America. The percentage of Southeast Asian heroin from the DEA s Heroin Signature Program rose from 9 percent in 1977 to 58 percent in 1991 (USA, DEA 95). Because of this increase in heroin, it became more common to find in the United States. Even Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana, had a heroin addiction. When he committed suicide in 1994, it was shown that he had heroin in his bloodstream. Several other grunge artists at the time were involved with drugs such as Alice in Chains, Sublime, and Hole (Rosier). Because of this, parents began to hate the type of music teenagers were being absorbed in during this time. For example, in the introduction of Grunge: Music and Memory Catherine Strong recalls her experience of grunge and said, The rough metal boys and the soft, ballad loving girls all got Nirvana, and agreed that it was good, and our parents hated it, (Strong 1). Autumn Rhythm, By Robert Rauschenberg, And Marilyn Diptych Abstract Expressionism began in the 1940s and the 1950s in New York after World War II from the ideas of Surrealism about art that looks to examining the unconscious mind, and the feelings people hold that makes us all humans. Through the discussion of Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) by Jackson Pollock, I will define Abstract Expression and why this work is part of this movement. Then, through the discussion of Canyon by Robert Rauschenberg, Target with Plaster Casts by Jasper Johns, and Marilyn Diptych by Andy Warhol, I will explain Assemblage and Pop Art and why each of these works belong to those movements. Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) is Jackson Pollock s most famous piece that shows action painting, a defining technique of Abstract Expressionism, and his innovative drip painting technique he developed in 1940. Pollock created his piece by placing the canvas on the floor, then he used brushes, or even his hands and started to drip the paint on the surface. His distinct technique of painting makes him absorbed in the creation of his art piece without being aware of what he is doing. Therefore, Pollock is free from realism and from his own self through painting because it relieves his anxiety now that he is focused only on his art. Pollock s work is classified as non objective because Autumn Rhythm (Number 30) cannot be related to any recognizable object from real life, so he is not constraint by reality, but goes outside the box as if liberated to soar free and paint from his ... The Inhumanity Of Zoos Masters of Disguise: The Inhumanity of Zoos Every year approximately 175 million people go to aquariums, and zoos to spectate and ponder at the vast number of wildlife from every corner of the world ( Static Brain, n.p.). Little do visitors know that they are witnessing firsthand the imprisonment and inhumane treatment of innocent animals. Wildlife should not be kept captive where they are exposed to overwhelming isolation, a shortened life span, and in the rare occasion when they are released back into the wild deprived of natural instincts to help them survive. Similar to humans, animals are living creatures who require interaction with their own kind; however, when they are kept in captivity these animals are frequently exposed to isolation. Wild animals commonly live in groups, whether it be a pride of lions, pack of wolves or a pod of whales. One particular example pertains to the natural grouping of elephants in the wild versus the complete solitary environment in which they are kept in when captive. That being said, elephants naturally live within large family groups and are one of the most socially complex animals outside of man. Yet in zoos they are kept either alone or with only one or two other unrelated elephants ( Los Angeles Times, n.p.). As if removing them out of their natural habitat was not enough, zoos separate animal s families and place them in different exhibits with other animals they are not accustomed to; thus, each individual is left feeling ... One can easily pick up his or her smart phone and Google something for a quick, easy answer. The Google world, according to Aspray (2011), has actually caused a shift in how people research and find necessary data (p.234). One does not have to go to the library or a print encyclopedia anymore because a whole world of information can be at one s fingertips through the use of phones, tablets, laptops, etc. When it comes to finding information, there are both pros and cons to some of the newer technology. First of all, one improvement would be that information is much more accessible to the common person. However, the problem comes when there is so much information available that almost anyone can contribute the massive information bank so that fake news and information that is not completely accurate, and sometimes simply wrong, can become what people are using for every day information and research. Although modern technology has allowed for a lot of bad information to spread, it has also allowed for easier access to accurate information and the professional sources. Lasse Hallstrom and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck are two very similar pieces of storytelling about caring for the misfortunate. Both George and Gilbert care more for the well being and defence of their loved one, than they do for their own well being in most cases. Generational Differences Of Generation X And Post-Millennials Generational Differences of Generation X and Post Millennials When observing the core ideologies of a group, the various circumstances to which the said group was exposed profoundly impacts their beliefs, in turn developing the methods through which their ideologies arise in society. Pertaining to the values of given generations, the stark contrast existing between the application of their values often compromises the structure of society as a whole as the conflicts arising between the said groups exacerbates societal similarities between generations. With the disparity existing between the lives of those from Generation X and Post Millennials and consequently their values, the cumulated ideology of society, existing from a combination of both groups values, has challenged the well being of the state of health and in turn, initiated the deterioration of genuine interaction and integrity. Considering those associated with Generation X, their core values, grounded in independence coupled with stability, allowed society to develop a structure through which individuals could function. Prior to beginning to perceive the values of the generation themselves, one must first observe their manifestation given the context of the time period. In observing the socioeconomic situation of the time, an era of two income families, rising divorce rates, and a faltering economy (Kane), one notices the breeding ground for their individualistic ideals and consequently their core ideologies grounded in tangible success rather than true fulfillment. The necessity to adapt to the home situation often containing two working parents, often divorced, inevitably allowed those in Generation X to develop a sense of independence a more importantly, perceive the need for it, from a young age. Given this sense of stoicism that was allowed to develop through this, one can see the generation s almost impervious nature to the psychological implications of social jealousy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With so many different ways to go about doing the same thing, it s important to find the way you re comfortable with. Being an engineer, I decided to make a 3D prototype model of the sword Ike uses. When it comes to making something fictional or incredibly difficult to replicate, following the prototyping process can help you save time and money in the future. In the words of Mr. John Ouimet, Prototyping is used any time you are going to make something, whether you are doing hardcore engineering or . . . it takes on many different appearances. You can simulate many of the earlier steps with just a computer. However, what does the word prototype actually mean? Prototyping is the process of making an early sample of a product, built to test a concept or process, or it s a thing meant to be replicated or learned from. However, it is not just limited to the engineering field; it can also be applied to the arts and sciences. One form of prototyping one could use is called 3D printing, where you have to design an object using a 3D modeling software and send it to a 3D printer to be printed. Generally speaking, this is a relatively fast and cheap method of making a prototype, as the materials are fairly cheap, and you can design what you want printed from the comfort of your own home. The type of machine you use will affect the parts quality. With a higher end printer, you can print ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Jazz Dance History KEEP CALM AND JAZZ ON The Jazz dance form is quite popular and is enjoyed by all for its energy and rhythm. It is often thought of as an American creation, but it truly originates from a form of dance that was African American in origin. This occurred during the late 1800s. The first man to officially perform jazz dance was an American called Joe Frisco in around 1910. Though this was the first recorded history of jazz dancing, its roots seemed to lie further in the past than this. When slaves were transported from Africa to America, they were allowed by their traders to dance as it kept them physically fit and emotionally going. The moves thus created by these slaves were a number of jazzy steps that no one knew would become a major dance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 42. Symbolism Of The Scarlet Letter By Nathaniel Hawthorne If it is important, it is remembered. If it has any value, it will last far into the future, if not forever. This is why Michelangelo s David, the Mona Lisa, the automobile, The Beatles, and Pride and Prejudice are all remembered. If it is the first to make an impact, it becomes important. That is when it will affect people in future generations. For example, the Model T is not produced anymore, but is the grandfather of almost every car made today, affecting jobs, businesses, people, and the world. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is taught today because it was one of the first important American written novels that contained obvious symbolism. Since symbolism is used in everything of literary merit, it is important to see where it started. In the same way, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has lasted through the years and still be prevalent today. This is achieved in the original books and continuing in spin offs and adaptations. Sherlock Holmes holds the Guinness World Record for literary character most frequently portrayed on screen. Over one hundred actors have played Holmes on screen. There are over two hundred and fifty movies, hundreds of episodes, and even plays based around Doyle s writings with the first known Sherlock Holmes movie debuting in 1905. The first American Sherlock Holmes actor was William Gillette, who played him on stage in 1899 and on film in 1916 (Dawidziak, n. p.). The many adaptations make it very hard to ... Aerial Warfare Throughout The First And Second World Wars The History of Aerial Warfare Throughout the First and Second World Wars When Aerial Warfare was first introduced many thought it was useless, inferior, and just plain stupid. From biplanes to dropping nuclear bombs, Aerial Warfare has come a long way. I am going to explain the advancements and rapid adaptations Aerial Warfare made throughout the First and Second World Wars. In the beginning of aerial warfare, it wasn t really warfare. It was more of Reconnaissance. Sources suggest the first use of this Recon , was the Chinese, by using kites to fly people in the air to scout out the enemy. World War 1 was the first legitimate war with air combat, and real advancements in the field. The Germans heavily invested in aircraft technology, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Close Air Support was developed and fighters were formed to help with this such as the Stuka Dive Bomber, and the British Tempest. Aircraft also began hunting tanks with large caliber machine guns and unguided rockets as ammunition. Aircraft carriers were used on a large scale, and their true power was shown at the Battle of Midway in the Pacific. This battle also showed how aircraft could use torpedos and take down massive warships successfully. Using aircraft to transport supplies and troops were now adopted, and paratroopers were starting to be used. Perhaps the most famous paratrooper mission which was Operation Market Garden, was a nearly disastrous operation by the Allies in 1944. Huge transport planes such as the JU 52, and the DC 3 could carry massive loads at decent speed, which was effective for resupplying. Helicopters were soon developed, but were not really effective during the war. Aircraft played a vital role in World War 2, and so many advancements and technology changed because of it. In World War 1 air power was an addition to the war, but it didn t change the outcome of many important campaigns of the war like World War 2 did. In conlusion, over both of the World Wars aircraft warfare started from nothing and ended with nuclear bomb droppers and jet engine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Parole Officers And The Prison System The world we live is constantly changing whether we are on the streets or in the prison system. Society doesn t understand that being in the prison is the almost the same as being on the streets. For instance, there are inmates that sell drugs and rob and kill people and cover it up just as if they were on the streets. There are correctional officers that work there, but they can t observe everything that goes on in the prison system. This is one of the reasons that being a parole officer would be a good job to have. The streets are already bad enough so taking some of the bad guys off the streets can help get the community back under control. Parole officer not only help in the streets the help in the court house. Parole officers can help the judge make decisions on what the inmate should be given whether its freedom or jail time. • 48. A True Hero In The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Beowulf In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh was a strong, brave man with powers that are debatably super natural who fought supernatural enemies. It is the oldest written story known to exist, the oldest existing version dates back to 2000 B.C.E. yet its hero parallels Beowulf, whose poem is thought to have been originated from anywhere between the 6th and 11th centuries (The Epic 1; The Editors 1). Despite this large gap in time periods, both of the epic poems agree mostly on what a hero is and what he should be, a strong, brave, morally upright warrior. In the epic poem Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, Beowulf exhibits the traits of a true hero and good person in the eyes of the Anglo Saxons through his loyalty, bravery, and skill in battle. Beowulf, a warrior and the protagonist, demonstrates that he is a hero through his loyalty. Beowulf goes to help the Shieldings, a strong and old family, fight against Grendel, a demon, and is talking with Hrothgar, head of the Shieldings, about how their families friendship started. Hrothgar tells Beowulf that Beowulf s father killed a Wulfing, another family, so a war was looming between their peoples. Beowulf s father then escaped to the Shieldings for safety and Hrothgar shipped a treasure trove to the Wulfings and on that day, Beowulf s father, Ecgtheow, pledged to Hrothgar with oaths of allegiance (Beowulf 472 473). Hrothgar paid the price for Ecgtheow s crime and so he pledged allegiance to him. Beowulf came to help the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
