In college, I studied illustrated books from an academic standpoint. I went to
Vassar, where children s book writer Nancy Willard was on faculty. She introduced
me to illustrator Barry Moser, and the interview he gave me was the centerpiece of

therefore, she used her Puritan ideology to gain favor (Davis 54). For example, in
the ninth remove, Rowlandson writes, At last he told me if I would make another
shirt, for a papoose not yet born, he would give me a knife, which he did when I had

The event which we had to reenact involved a well established neighborhood and a
church working with mentally ill patients. The church wanted to allow the facility
to keep the mentally ill patients at the church for the majority of the day. The
problem the neighborhood had with this plan was that the crime rate had already

ill did not monitor them well enough they could then roam the neighborhood
