Health And Wellness Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of health and wellness presents a multifaceted challenge. Firstly,
the topic itself encompasses a vast array of subtopics, ranging from physical fitness and nutrition
to mental well-being and holistic health practices. This breadth demands careful consideration to
ensure comprehensive coverage without overwhelming the reader with disparate information.
Furthermore, navigating the wealth of existing research and literature on health and wellness
requires discernment to select credible sources and integrate them effectively into the essay. The
interdisciplinary nature of the topic also necessitates a nuanced approach that acknowledges the
interconnectedness of various factors influencing health outcomes.
Moreover, articulating complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner poses its own set of
difficulties. Balancing scientific rigor with accessibility to cater to diverse audiences requires

Csf Rhinorrhea Research Paper
Within the past few days, the news has been covering the story of KJ, a 52 year
old woman in Omaha, Nebraska. During a traumatic motor vehicle accident a few
years ago, KJ hit her face against the dashboard and started having severe migraines
and constant runny nose. Multiple doctors have seen her since, most of them blame
the runny nose on allergies and attempted to treat her with numerous allergies
medications. This year, KJ was being seen by physicians at Nebraska Medicine and
finally discovered that her runny nose was in fact a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak
from her brain. KJ condition is known as CSF rhinorrhea, a rare but dangerous
condition that can lead to significant morbidity and mortality for the patient. Multiple
nuclear medicine imaging techniques can be used for the diagnosis of CSF
rhinorrhea including Computed Tomographic (CT) Myelography and Radionuclide
Cisternography.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CSF rhinorrhea can be divided in three types: traumatic, iatrogenic, and spontaneous
/idiopathic. Traumatic CSF rhinorrhea is caused by injuries to the face and head.
Causes of Iatrogenic CSF rhinorrhea includes any surgical manipulation near the skull
base. Spontaneous/idiopathic CSF rhinorrhea generally occurs without antecedent
causes but is possibly related to elevations in intracranial pressure. While some
patients may have CSF rhinorrhea for years without any consequences, others may
develop dangerous conditions like bacterial meningitis, brain abscess, or
pneumocephalus within days of the onset of the runny nose. Because of the serious
potential complications of CSF rhinorrhea, prompt detection, management and repair
of all CSF rhinorrhea cases should be attempted. Especially in patient who potentially
has CSF rhinorrhea with meningitis symptoms like ever, chills or stiff neck,
immediate medical attention is
Marius s Life
Marius, a Romanian 8 year old boy, lived a life just as every other kid his age. He
attended school, played with his friends and his dog, and helped his family with
chores. Once the accident occurred, life changed for Marius although he was
always positive during his recovery process. Both of Marius s parents died during
the accident, however, he still had a large support system. This support came from
both Marius s older sister and brother who were not home at the time of the
accident. Also, the interns at the hospital provided a large amount of help to Marius
as did the interns parents and other family members. Shriners Hospital for Children
in Los Angeles as well as all of the support from teachers, home tutors, and the
translator, Teodora, made the entire recovery process possible. So even though
Marius did not have his parents, he still had an abundance of support and assistance.

The burns were so severe that they resulted in Marius being in a coma.
Additionally, all ten of Marius s fingers were amputated and the skin from his back
was grafted onto his legs. Unfortunately, Marius s nose was basically all burned off
so it appeared as if he had no nose. Also, the skin around his eyes was burned, so he
was unable to blink. The doctors feared Marius would lose his sight so they had to
place a gel in his eyes in order to hopefully maintain sight. The burns made it
difficult for Marius to complete ADLs and it was months before he left bed and
attempted to walk. Therefore, this was a long, expensive process in order to
How Religion Influences In The Civil War
Religions influences in the Civil War
Throughout history, religion has shaped individual s lives for many different
reasons. The Civil War is commonly known to be fought over the issue of slavery,
but religion did play a major role before, during, and after the war. People who s
religion was against slavery believed they needed to fight for what they believe in
and stop slavery no matter what it takes. During the Civil War, religioninspired
people both to go into battle and help free the slaves. Motivation is the key behind
any movement. The Civil war was fought over slavery but

Religion played a major role before, during, and after the war. It may not have been
the initial reason for fighting but it certainty became a central aspect in the lives of
people involved in the war. It helped the people shape why and how to help the

inspiration it gave them. It would be interesting to know what stories and books
people read that inspired them to make the decisions they
Summary Of The Escape From Reason By Paul Kurtz
In Paul Kurtz s Fears of the Apocalypse: The Escape from Reason, he explains that
the fixation on apocalypse grows out of fear of the unknown, and it is fed by hope
of redemption (1). Written a year before the new millennium, Kurtz writes about
how different types of doomsday prophecies such as the secular, religious, or New
Age have predicted the world s fate. Although each prophecy has their own tale of
how and when the world will end, they can all agree that the new millennium is the
end for all of mankind. However, these dates have miniscule significance on these
doomsday prophecies. Afterall, time is human creation. Throughout history,
different cultures have used different calendars. For example, the calendar that
everyone is familiar with is the Gregorian calendar, which indicates how many
years it has been since Christ s death. Hence, we are living 2016 years after Christ s
death. But if one were to look back to when the Gregorian calendar was introduced,
10 day seized to exist. If one were to look at the Chinese calendar, the year is
currently 1417 because their system is based off the sun and moon phases.... Show

I agree with this statement because in the past 18 years of my life, I have survived
through dozens of apocalypses. Throughout history, new doomsday prophecies are
always emerging. Kurtz uses the example of the preacher William Miller who
interpreted the Bible s days as years. Miller calculated that the world would in end
1843 and when that failed, he pushed his predictions to another year. Looking back,
I remember hearing how prepared people were for Rapture Day back in 2011. When
the world failed to end, people insisted that a spiritual rapture had occurred instead.
After that, the same scenario happened for the 2012 Doomsday that the Mayan
Calendar had
The Old South In Faulkner s A Rose For Emily
Society is comprised of different age groups, and A Rose for Emily by Faulkner
William depicts some of the perspectives the young have of the elderly. Every age
group has a unique view of the previous group, and groups, with different themes
developing. The story of Emily resonates in numerous societies, from being
treasured to being feared. The elderly in the community represent both wealth as
well as poverty, just as Emily did, though not necessarily in material wealth. The
story had a lot to convey, and a standout amongst the most consistent is the battle
between Old South, the pre Civil War era vs the New South, which rose from the
Civil War. In this story, Miss Emily served as a piece of the Old South, similar to
Colonel Sartoris, her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death too lingered throughout the story from the opening scene, up to the last
scene, as Faulkner opened by narrating the beginning of the memorial service of
Mrs. Emily. The aura associated with Emily is mysterious, due to a lack of
understanding by the community. There is a lot of speculation going on in the
scenes and settings, from the source of offensive smells to the sudden
disappearance of characters associated with Emily. Emily is depicted as being stuck
in time, presenting a character fighting time and consequences associated with
aging, despite the world around her crumbling from agents of time. The strangeness
surrounding the story comes from the failure to communicate and convey ideas and
ideals effectively since by doing so, it would have been easier to understand Emily, as
well as accord her help where she may have been in need of medical or
psychological assistance in overcoming grief and death. William Faulkner told a story
that had numerous ideas regarding society and how it worked in a particular day and
age in the South. It s an imperative component in writing because of its examination
of the effects of change made in the long time past South. This story serves a decent
example for the generations to

Architecture And Design Of Architecture
Architecture
An architect plans, designs and construct structures. Architects can design many
things like a shopping mall, a library, skyscrapers, and so much more. Architecture
is a very interesting career that I would like to learn more about. I will be discussing
why I chose to research this career and the different types of architects there are, the
average annual salary an architect makes, what they do on a daily bases, how much
education you need to be an architect, and the pros and cons about being an
architect. Not only will I be discussing these topics, but I will also research what
tools an architect uses, the best places for an architect to live at, and the top schools
to get an architecture degree (Shapiro).

There are residential architecture, commercial or public architecture, industrial
architecture, landscape architecture, and green architecture. Residential architecture
focuses on designing homes. A lot of the times a residential architect will work with
private clients. Commercial or public architecture focus more on public buildings like
shopping malls, hospitals, airports, and other public places. Industrial architecture is
more of an engineer. They work with building bridges, dams, and other technical
projects. Then there is landscape architecture, which focuses on outdoor areas. This
type of architect will design gardens, parks, lawns, and other public destinations that
are outside. Last, there is green architecture. Green architecture works with buildings
that are friendly to the environment.
What an architect does on a daily basis is draw a plan for a building before
constructing a building. Architects will use a lot of their creativity side of how they
want the building to look. They will make models of the building. Most of the time
an architect will be talking to the clients, engineers and contractors. When talking to
clients, it will be about what they want added to the plan or what they want changed.
Not only will they be talking to their clients and contractors, but they will also be
going to a lot of meetings and even talking
The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early
Nineteenth...
Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth
and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the
economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women
attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system,
raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the
country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and
defines the essence of its main character. The precise nature of this balance is not
necessarily clear, and despite what seems to be a happy marriage, it may not be
entirely possible to reconcile Elizabeth s independence and naturalness... Show more

Pros And Consequences Of Pokemon Go
According to Lee (2016), Pokemon go is a free to play mobile app that can be
downloaded for iOS and Android devices. The game works by using the phone s
GPS system for a real world location and augmented reality, which brings those

Nowadays people are playing Pokemon Go everywhere, from malls, public restrooms

Goblin Market Essay
The aim of this particular essay is to examine and perform an in depth analysis
relating to the theme of sexual temptations within the widely known poem, Goblin
Market, by the Victorian era poet Christina Rossetti. Throughout this particular
poem, Rossetti demonstrates the life of two maidens who live a life surrounded by
sexual temptations; and within this dissertation, I intend to analyze the plethora of
literary devices that Rossetti utilizes in order to portray this theme revolved around
temptation, and the desire to fulfill sexual desires once one has succumbed to the
temptation. The first stanza in the poem itself introduces us to a form of temptation
when it is stated that, Morning and evening / Maids heard the goblins cry: / Come
buy, our orchard fruits, / Come buy, come buy: / Apples and oranges, / Plump
unpecked cherries / Melons and raspberries, / Bloom down cheeked peaches, / Swart

merchant man (77 78). Here, the readers can most certainly comprehend that both of
the women are vividly aware of the tricks in which the Goblins are attempting to
carry out in order to seduce them. However, Laura is the only one that is quite
intrigued by the thoughts of what the Goblins fruits might taste like or in a sexual
connotation, the sexual pleasures she would obtain by experimenting with the
Goblins genitalia. From this, we can ascertain that giving in to the temptation of
consuming the fruit is considered to be a metaphor for losing one s sexual
Pros And Cons Of Airlift Rescue
A patient may be more readily harmed during an airlift rescue than during an on the
ground rescue. There are many additional challenges and other factors personnel
involved in an air rescue must account for compared to personnel in a ground rescue
to ensure the safety of the survivor.
A panicking patient is a more common occurrence during an airlift rescue, which can
cause inadvertent harm to both the victim and the rescuer. As previously
mentioned, a swimmer often has to break away from a panicking survivor ( USCG
RS Manual ). This, as well as panic in general, can lead to worsening of a patient s
injuries. Panic can lead to a person s judgement becoming clouded by fear, which can

They can be a hazard when entering because of their proximity to the cabin door.
They are also dangerous because they can still become angled towards rescuers

also make entry into the cabin difficult. (Fact...structure of a helicopter; might find a

nature take place also contribute to a patient s difficulty in surviving. Patients are
typically critically injured, and in need of a speedy rescue. For instance,
hypothermia can set in very quickly in cold water. This condition causes a patient s
mobility to become limited due to a dropping core temperature. It means the survivor
is often unable to help and that means the rescue becomes more challenging for the
rescue swimmer. (USCG RS Manual; knowledge of
Renewable Energy
The Cost of Converting to Renewable Energy Sources Greenhouse gases emitted into
the atmosphere are believed to be the direct causation of climate change. One of the
largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions is the burning of fossil fuels to
provide what could be considered basic human comforts such as transportation, and
electricity. Although the technology is readily available for a conversion from fossil
fuels to renewable energy, it is argued that converting would negatively impact the
work force, and the consumers cost of living. Although these concerns are valid, they
are of lesser importance when compared to the cost associated with deteriorating
health, water quality, and food security of the consumer. Eradicating the use... Show

(ENERGY MARKET COSTS CONCLUSION) Air pollution is a direct result of
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which causes serious effects on our health,
and therefore our ability to participate in society. The World Health Organization
estimates that ninety percent of people in the world are exposed to unsafe levels
of air pollution. Pollution causes a variety of health problems: minor irritation to
the eyes, nose, mouth and throat, headaches, dizziness, and more serious problems
such as respiratory and lung diseases, cancer, heart disease, and stroke (Effects of
Air Pollution on Human Health). Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology estimate that about 200 thousand early deaths in the United States
can be linked to air pollution every year. A study done by Kruse et al. analyzed the
loss of productivity associated with coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer,
and COPD, some of the most serious health problems linked to air pollution. Their
findings implicated that people had an overall significantly higher chance of
leaving the labor market as a result of the disease, clearly reflecting a loss in
productivity (Kruse et al. 4). This loss of productivity accumulated a cost of over
2.14 million dollars per 100,000 population in the age group 50 70 in one year

The s Theory Of Pan Africanism
The oppression of Africans has been a prevalent source of pain and suffering since the
Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. Political and economic systems have been designed to
implement disenfranchisement for people of color on all societal platforms.
Throughout the course of the black experience, many prominent individuals held
arguments and intellectual conversations regarding the socioeconomic characteristics
of African Americans. The most controversial, prolific intellectual figure who
harnessed a self reliance attitude, with the idea of collective identity as a people, was
none other than the Caribbean born Marcus Garvey. Garvey, a social activist, was
prominent in the Black Nationalism and Pan Africanismmovements. Theories
developed by Garvey inspired millions as he lectured about self reliance and
liberation of blacks to embark on the back to Africa movement. Achieving the goal
of black liberation fueled the arguments presented by Marcus Garvey. Garvey s
theory of Pan Africanism proved to be a dominant force in the unification of the
African community. Throughout this essay, I will respond to the notion of Pan
Africanism, Garvey s Ideologies, and his accomplishments in providing Black
consciousness for the African diaspora. Garvey s ideologies were illustrated through
his founding of the United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), as well as being
the founder of the Black Star Line which engaged the idea of the back to Africa
movement. Collectively, these key

This step requires learning the rules. The rules of Ultimate Frisbee can be best
described as a mix of soccer and football. An Ultimate frisbee field is 100 yards
long by 40 yards wide, with fifteen yards of either end of the length of the field
being designated as the endzones. To start, each team sends seven players to the
front of each endzone and one team will throw the frisbee off to the other team in
what is called a pull . This can be compared to a kickoff in football. Just like
football, the goal of the game is ultimately to pass the frisbee to someone in the
endzone to score a point. However unlike football and more like soccer, the game
is played continuously without stoppage until someone scores. What is unique to
frisbee is that when a player possesses the frisbee, they are not allowed to move.
They must keep on foot planted until they throw the frisbee to a teammate. After a
team score the will pull the disc to the other team at the opposite the one previously
scored in. A normal Ultimate Frisbee game is played in a 90 minute time frame,
with victory coming to the first team to score 13 points. If time runs out in the
middle of play, then play will continue until someone scores. If at the end of that
possesion, the score is tied, then the scoring team will pull the disc one more time in
what is called Ultimate Point . In this case, the team who scores
Ancient Greek Women
Similar to the lives of women in other ancient civilisations, Ancient Greek women s
lack of independence was largely a result of the patriarchal ideology of their society.
Although contemporary evidence suggests that ancient depictions of women lack
some credibility in their assertions, the weight of evidence reveals that while Greek
women were socially and economically secure in marriage, the ideal image valued by
Greek culture, one of humility and domesticity, meant that women exerted little legal,
political and social influence. Despite doubts about their accuracy, ancient evidence
shows that women, in accordance with the bigoted Greek society s idealised view,
enjoyed a degree of responsibility within their household, but had little independence
in the wider community.
While there are many ancient depictions of women, there is a paucity of accurate and
reliable sources by which to judge the status of females in Greek antiquity. Most

Lawless (et al 1997, p. 90) opines that these depictions could be male fantasy,

standing. Hurley (et al 1998, p. 123), whose judicious argument reflects the modern
feminist assessment of Ancient Greek women, notes that, Nearly all written sources
that have survived from Classical Greece were composed by men of the upper social
classes, and therefore reflect their viewpoint , demonstrating the unreliability of
ancient sources. Moreover, there is debate about the extent of the marginalisation of
women in Greek society. Although a large proportion of experts agree that women in
Ancient Greece lived in virtual seclusion, others argue that this cannot be confirmed,

Why Soccer Is Better Than Other Countries
Waking up early in the morning to go the soccer field and get a whiff of fresh cut
grass, paint, and the unpleasant smell of some soccer socks being put on to be
ready for a match. Some people may have played soccer in their younger days and
can understand the enjoyment. Some people are committed to the sport and others
may have played a few years because their parents made them to. There is nothing
wrong with playing soccer, but to know that they were a part of an amazing
experience. This is a very popular sport around to world and is called football to
other countries, but is called soccer in the United States. A lot of differences in how

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are players who are soon to become legends for
their countries.
Many people enjoy the game of soccer whether they are playing or just watching.
There are many competitions and other platforms to watch a decent soccer match.
Competitions like the Champions League, Euros, Copa America, Gold Cup, etc.
Many fans tuned in to watch the 2014 FIFA World Cupin Brazil. Fans from all over
the world tune in to witness the greatest tournament to be competed at a high level.
The entire World Cup reached 3.2 billion viewers, and the final game had around one
million viewers watching live (2014 FIFA World Cup, 2015). Others enjoy to play
the sport as well. People enjoy the game of soccer whether it is playing for fun or
competing in the World Cup. Fans that play want to imitate their favorite players
moves. Children watching the pros work their magic during the World Cup, doing
fancy tricks or scoring crazy goals makes kids go out with a ball and copy what
they saw. Players like Ronaldo and Messi do things that make child look up to
them. A study from a survey conducted by FIFA in 2007 found that 265 million
people are playing soccer (Kunz, 2007). Players play to sometimes relieve
themselves from a tense situation in the real world. So, as they play, they seem to

The Fundamentals of Nursing Essay
Abstract
In this research paper, I plan to discuss the background of nurses, the different
professions they work, and the salaries of an LPN and Registered Nurse.
Nurses work in a variety of specialties where they work independently and as part of
a team of assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Nursing comes in various forms
in culture, although the definition of the term and the practice of nursing has being
known as wet nurse and latter being known as dry nurse. In the 15th century, this
developed into the idea of looking after or advising another, not necessarily meaning
a woman looking after a child. Nursing has continues to developed in the latter sense,
although the idea of nourishing in the broadest sense refers ... Show more content on

LPN s on the other hand are trained in basic skills to provide client care under the
guidance of an RN or other licensed provider, for example, a physician or dentist. In
the United States these programs are 9 to 12 months in length and exist in a variety
of setting: high schools, community colleges, vocational schools, hospitals, and other
health care agencies(Delaune Ladner pg. 41).Nurse Practitioners work within the pre
operative setting(Barnett, 2005).
Little research exists on NP s role in pre op; thus, researches have begun to explore
the emerging role. The existing research indicates that NP s skills are more
important to the overall efficiency of the pre operative area NP s advanced
pediatric assessment skills allow them the ability to complete history and
physicals on surgical patients. NP s can collect, identify, and interpret complex
patient information and laboratory values, as well as provide pre op education
and psychosocial support to patient and families(Barnett, 2005). From 1999 to
2000, the Alberta government acknowledged a major RN shortage a consequence
of deep cuts to health care during the early Klein years on of every eight RN s was
laid off and left the province, most permanently. Thousand of nursing students also
left the province after graduation, there were no jobs. (Vihos,Jill, n.p.). There s still
a high demand for nurses today. Nurses earn different pay their salaries may vary by
the type of degree they hold and job duties. For
Turgenev Vs Turrgene
As the title, Fathers and Sons hints, there is a clear split between the landowners
(fathers), and the younger generation when it comes to the peasant question.
Turgenev portrays the landowners as self described progressives who have an
interest in their peasants well being. However, their idea of progress is far more
moderate than what the younger generation believes in, full emancipation. The older
generation seems to still believe that treating the peasants well is in some way an
adequate solution to the troubled system. They don t understand the full breath of
change that must take place. Turgenev also portrays the landowners being
disconnected from peasant life in some unbridgeable way. For example, Turgenev
writes that even though
Mother Jones s Impact On Child Labor Laws
Have you ever wondered how some people enact change? Mother Jones protested
for child labor laws. Melba integrated a white high school in order to get rid of
racism. Nelson Mandela joined South Africa s congress to help racism. They all
persevered to enact change, but they took different approaches for their problems.
Mother Jones made an impact on child labor because she persevered to protect
children. They way down to the White House just to protect kids. According to
Josephson in Mother Jones: Fierce Fighter for Workers Rights, She and the textile
union leaders would stage their own tour. They would march the mill children all
the way to the president of the United States Theodore Roosevelt. This shows how
she got her idea to try to persuade not only the President but make this issue
publicly known. Josephson states, Mother Jones had seen how dangerous their
jobs were. Barefooted little girls and boys reached their tiny hands into the
treacherous machinery to repair snapped threads or crawled underneath the
machinery to oil it. Josephson has a heart for kids, and she just can t stand to see
them being tortured like this. Josephson says, The next night, the marchers slept
on the banks of the Delaware River. In every town, Mother Jones drew on what she
did best speaking to gather support for her cause. Mother Jones had to be strong to
carry out her task, and to get her point across to the people. Mother Jones had to be
strong in order to carry out her tasks. Nelson
1970 s Bilingual Education In Texas
In the 1970 s bilingual education in Texas was just beginning to emerge. The topic
was contentious, towards the end of the 1970 s however we see a shift in the topic,
not advocating for bilingual education as it had at first, but looking at the results of
bilingual education and the ways in which it could be improved. I will be analyzing
the ways in which bilingual educationwas approached in this decade, focusing heavily
on Texas but occasionally looking at the Southwest. Texas has always set the pattern
for the rest of the country in terms of academics, by looking at the emergence of the
bilingual educationmovement it will aid in the understanding of where bilingual
education is today. The fight for equal education went through various iterations:...

However, as we see in the studies regarding the impact of bilingual education students
began to see vast improvements to their education and conditions in which they were
taught. Chicano students went from being completely segregated to demanding the
equal educational opportunity bilingual schools could provide. This all led to the
advancement of the Chicano and their education, proving that the language and
knowledge children brought with them at the beginning of their education was not a
detriment to their education but an
Self Concept Through Interpersonal Communication Essay
I chose the topic of self concept through interpersonal communication because I had
an interest in it. This interest is because I didn t understand that one s self concept
affected the way one is perceived by others. I learned self concept through class
discussions, but I wanted a better understanding of how communication affects one s
self concept and how it affects one s perception
One s self concept affects one s perception, attitude and behavior, which can be
demonstrated during the process of interpersonal communication. Aspects of one s
life influence their self concept, which not only affect how people perceive them but
how they perceive themselves. Such things are gender, motivational level and
psychological type. It is widely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One will either come out of a situation with a positive or negative concept of these
surroundings. Poor communication can cause one to have a poor perception of
oneself. One s emotional state, dislikes, likes values and body image are affected by
the opinions of others and can render one to have an inferior and insecure self
concept.
How one communicates is also influenced by gender. Studies show that ones sex can
place a person in a gender role expectation. Women and Men communicate differently
and because sexual identity is defined through same sex parent or role model, women
and men can get into gender role expectations. These expectations influence their
perception attitudes and behavior that will result in a communication style. This early
self concept can effect each one s interpersonal relations. Women for instance are
much attached human beings they have very early identification with their mothers,
and this can cause an on going pattern of role expectation. It can lead to interpersonal
communication skills that are very nurturing and understanding. Women are not
threatened by intimacy and communicating at a close range with people. Similarly,
men also have an early identification process not with their mother, but their fathers.
Men tend to be fairly reserved, and quite. Men are most comfortable when there is a
level of separation. This male role will contribute to the communication processes and
it can cause communication to
John Forbes Nash
John Forbes Nash Jr. was born on June 13, 1928 at Bluefield, West Virginia, USA.
He is the eldest son of an electrical engineer, John Forbes Nash, and a schoolteacher,
Margaret Virginia. He has a younger sibling named Martha Nash who was two
years younger than him and was born on November 16, 1930. As a young boy,
Nash was solitary, bookish and introverted. His mother had big dreams for him so
he pushed him to read at 4, learn Latin and skip a grade at school. The first hint of
John Nash s math talent came in fourth grade. John has his own path to solve the
simple math problems. In high school, John solved his teachers clunky proofs in just
a few elegant steps. He was one of ten nationally awarded winners of the George
Westinghouse Award,
Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer
Chapter 1
Background
When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting,
procedures and guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are
thoroughly carried out. However, most police officers in England and Wales will
never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this supports the ideology that
police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm routinely
(Rostker, 2008, p. 78)
It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms
incident in England and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an
alert, over half the rounds fired are believed to miss their intended target and of those
people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation
also exists in the United States of America.
The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to
weapons and violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread
strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a
comparator to this research as it is already highly compared to other societies where
the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law enforcement
agencies setting the policy with no national policing system.
A report released in 2012 by the Federal Bureau of Investigation stated that 410
Americans were lawfully killed by the police with only one victim unarmed (2013).

How Did Sylvia Plath Influence Her Works
Sylvia Plath once said, It is as if my life were magically run by two electric currents:
joyous positive and despairing negative whichever is running at the moment
dominates my life, floods it, (Brainyquote). Sylvia Plath had her despairing negative
moments, but she also had her joyous positive moments. Plath was an extremely
talented, unique, and creative writer and her work is still remembered today. Plath
influenced literature in a positive manner because she used her poetryto stand up for
woman, she was not afraid to speak the truth, and she threw herself into her work.

Americans After Reconstruction
Over 150 years ago, the slaves were proclaimed free by President Lincoln. However
many people even today still consider the african americans under the bindings of
slavery and barred from true freedom. The african american slaves were brought to
America while it was still being colonized to replace the rather expensive
indentured servants. They were sold into slavery to carry out often harsh chores
and tasks for their owner. Eventually, a civil war broke out between the north and
south over the south not wanting slavery to be abolished. However, the south lost
and President Lincoln established the Emancipation Proclamation, which
completely freed the slaves. The period following the civil war, known as
reconstruction, was a failure due to the fact that the newly freed slaves still
experienced inequality, racism, and exclusion. Even though the african americans
were completely freed from slavery, they still had to face many hardships such as
inequality. An example of this appears in a labor contract from 1886 when it mainly
discusses the chores and tasks of a black man while... Show more content on

A piece of evidence that displays this issue is from the Louisiana Law of 1865. It
states, Every negro is required to be in the regular service of some white person, or
former owner, who shall be held responsible for the conduct of the said negro. This
shows how the african americans were still considered slavery and barred from
any freedom. One other documentation of racism is a political cartoon from 1868
showing three white men stepping on a black man captioned, This is a White Man s
Government. The cartoon describes how white men felt it was wrong to have free
african americans and that they shouldn t be apart of american culture. This evidence
shows how racism was a still a huge issue that the african americans still had to face

Analysis Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
Natalie Zemon Davis The Return of Martin Guerre depicts the peculiar historical
life behind the trial of Martin Guerre and his wife Bertrande de Rols, whose lives
were infiltrated by the imposter, Arnaud du Tilh. Taken place in Languedoc, France,
the life of Martin Guerre a young peasant man, in which his abandonment of his
flourishing farm and lifestyle in the village of Artigat, created the historical trial of
impersonating lies, held to justify the innocence of one s word against another. In the

time span of two hours and three minutes, the viewer is presented with the mysterious
revelation of the identity of Bertrand s husbandMartin. While both the film and the
book uncover the identity of Martin and his imposter, Arnaud, the representations of
the uprising allegations against Arnaud in the film are in fact not equivalent to that
of the book. Throughout the film, it showcased Bertrande as of a victim of Arnaud s
duplicity, viewing her as a pure wife who was caught in the lies. Rather than playing
the victim, in the book she consorts a dishonest marriagewithin a period in which
women were consigned to subordinate positions, holding the most important voice in
the rising of allegations against Martin Guerre.
In the film, we meet a young Bertrande de Rols who with the abandonment of her

Pulp Fiction Analysis
In the film Pulp fiction, Quentin Tarantino decided to make the film non linear in
order to keep the attention of the audience as well help develop the story. Tarantino
has been know to tell most of his narratives in this very disjointed manner. The non
linear order in all of his films helps to develop the characters much more before you
get to see how they are related to the main narrative. It also helps to keep the audience
s attention and makes them really focus on the individual scenes presented in the film.
You can tell that Tarantino wants the audience to pay close attention to the main
narrative as well as the message behind the film because he has always presented
his films this way. Although there are benefits of this type of disjointed narrative,
there are also a few things that could go wrong with them. For example, by jumping
from scene to scene, you can get a feel for the type of character each person portrays,
although not learning how much they actually matter to the main narrative. I think
that Tarantino s style works well with Pulp Fiction simply because of the type of
narrative he is trying to tell. For a good bit in the beginning of the film, Tarantino
shows what seems like random dialogue just to show that both Jules and Vince like to
joke around and kind of set the audience up to expect something that is not at all what
really happens. By setting this up in the beginning of the film, Tarantino already has
the audience paying close attention when the

Privacy Is One Of The Problems Of Media Privacy
Now a day, privacy is one of the problems of media ethics in our life. The Longman
dictionary defines privacy as the state of being able to be alone, not seen or heard by
other people, and free from public attention. We may recognize that it is simple to
keep privacy; nonetheless, journalists and people don t keep it even through they
know that it is important.
Furthermore, the tendency that it will be fine even if you do not keep privacy is
getting stronger year by year. One of the reasons is because technology is
developing rapidly in the world. This evidence is that a lot of people bring with
them their smart phones and computers to the evidence of this. Stefano Taddei said,
The results suggest practical implications for online social network providers, most
of all with regard to privacy policies in online environments (2013). In the future, the
providers will develop and affect us positive and negative through using technology.
I believe that privacy is most important for the future because privacy is the origin of
the media ethics, which is about indecency, control, and truthfulness. I think that
privacy is a problem of particular importance concerning human s virtue in this time.
First, the problem is indecency. Some argue that indecency in media encourages
people to mimic the behavior they see in the news stories from sensational movies.
They are prevalent to even children recently; moreover, these influences will remain
strong even when the children became

impacted the society of the early 1900s and changed American society forever.
Women were traditionally seen as the weaker sex second class citizens with a lower

the United States or by any State on account of sex (U.S. Constitution). These are the
words that women across the country were fighting to hear. Congress passed the 19th
Amendment on June 4th, 1919 and sent it to the states. Seventy five percent of the
states needed to ratify the Amendment for it to be official. Before her son,
Congressman Harry Burn from Tennessee, made the crucial vote on Women s
Suffrage, Mrs. J. L. Burn wrote him a letter. She told him, Hurrah! And vote for
suffrage and don t keep them in doubt... Don t forget to be a
First Time-Personal Narrative
It s been eight antagonizing hours and now the moment has finally arrived. As if it
has soaked up a liter of Pepsi, my hand begins to shake with excitement as my
pointer finger reaches for the mouse. With no direction needed to its location, the
mouse quickly moves towards the shut down button on my computer screen. I feel
energy gaining with each passing second, and then suddenly, Your computer is
unable to shut down at the moment, please wait for all of the programs to close.
What? I scan the screen trying to zero in on the target I need to annihilate so that I
may relieve myself from this toxic environment called work. But when I look
around my brain is coming back, Target not in sight. More eager than before, my
hand forces the mouse back over to the shut down button. My leg begins to shake
as my eyes quickly glance to the time, 4:02 P.M., I could ve been down to the first
floor by this time, well that s if I didn t have to stop at any of the floors in between.
Even if I did, I could ve least been on the elevator.... Show more content on

Deep breaths and high hopes. Your computer is unable to shut down at the
moment, please wait for all of the programs to close. O my gosh! my mind screams
with anger. Focus is what I tell myself as I scan the screen for any open programs.
Not trusting my eyes completely, I use my finger to point my eyes from the top of
the screen to the bottom. I don t get it. Why are you doing this to me? I question as
if it could answer me. I take deep, calming breaths and close my eyes. Trying to
find an inner peace to get me to the point where I can officially windup my workday.
Ignoring the clock I begin to try again.
Melinda Sordino Research Paper
Melinda Sordino completely loathes the cliques at Merryweather High school,
there are so many it is overwhelming. There s a group for every type of person , in
theory it should work, but it does not, simply because people are seclude to one
certain group and have to keep up to a certain standard. I think another reason why
Melinda hates the cliques is, because she is all alone and does not fit anywhere, so
seeing the cliques is just another painful reminder. Also Melinda losses the only

Similarities And Differences Between The Middle
Kingdom...
Despite the ancient Egyptians conservative nature and keeping to their core values,
there were many changes within the infrastructure of their society during the middle
kingdom. When Historians and scholars study the Old Kingdom, and the Middle
Kingdom, One will notice that alterations to their religion, art, and architecture
changed through both periods in history. Internal forces, as well as outside influences,
shaped ancient Egyptian civilization. One would argue that the terms Old, middle
and knew Kingdoms were of a hellenistic idea, instead of a Ancient Egyptian
Ideology. The Old Kingdom founds its reign lasted from 2700 2200 B.C. This time
period consisted of the third through the sixth dynasty, beginning with Djoser and

The Ancient Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was a god himself, and that his
power was given to him by the god Ra. Other pharaohs also believed in this as well
which was the case with Zoser, and the pharaohs of the preceding dynasties.
The divinity of the pharaoh would be later reduced in magnitude. People in Ancient
Egypt would drift away from the royal hierarchy and create their own small
community city states. The pharaoh s power would diminish so much that,
Egyptians during that time started to be that the pharaoh himself was no longer a
god, but merely the son of the god Re. The quality of the crown started to fade
showed overtime you started to see small communities establish their own royal
hierarchy and build their own pyramids to represent their status. The size of the
pyramids were the result of this shift in power. Eventually, the pharaohs became a
major contributor in their own downfall. There were marriages of non royal women
this led to the belief that the divinity of the royal line was diluted, thereby reducing
the pharaoh s power. In addition, the royal treasury was rapidly being decreasing due
to maintenance costs of pyramids being built. It wasn t long until the priesthood and
the nobles saw that they were as wealthy as the pharaoh After Pepi II, central
government was completely lost, and anarchy reigned.
Until the Middle Kingdom is when historians and scholars
Criminal Investigation Book Eleventh Edition
According to the Criminal Investigation book Eleventh Edition. Burglary is the crime
of breaking and entering a house or other building belonging to another with the
intent to commit a crime therein. Burglaries are one of the more common crimes to
which patrol officers respond. Someone has returned home and found the doors open
and their property missing. The policeare called, and an investigation starts. Officers
should respond as if it has just occurred. Often it is the arrival of the owner

At burglary scenes this is often the area where the suspect gained entry into the
premises, this is called (The Point of Entry). The first thing which should be
determined is: How and where was entry gained? The most common methods are
breaking a window or kicking in a door. If some other method of entry is used,
make note of it. Be sure to check all the doors and windows for signs of forced
entry often a burglar may try several doors or windows before finding one they can
open. Where did the suspect(s) go inside the scene? Are there any items missing or
disturbed? Look along the areas from the Point of Entry to the locations of the
items. Fingerprints are one of the best forms of evidence at any scene, and
burglaries may offer many opportunities for locating prints. The standard method of
fingerprint a burglary scenes is with fingerprint kit. The fingerprint kit contains a
soft brush, light and dark colored powders and a roll of clear tape. Once developed
the fingerprints can be photographed and/or lifted with tape. The best advantages of
fingerprints at crime scenes is the computerized fingerprint database. Crime scene
prints can be searched in the computer, and can help locate suspects that may have
been involved in the
Military Rewarding
Military service is rewarding as well as challenging. Serving in the military means
that the men and women who serve can be taken away from their friends and family
at a moment s notice due to deployment in support of Armed Conflict or training
exercises. Entire families are up rooted because the service member had to conduct a
permanent change of station move which means that they had to move to another
duty station. An example of this would be moving from Fort Hood, Texas to Fort
Drum, New York. Serving in the militaryis unique and presents the member and their
familywith once in a lifetime opportunities that are positive and some things the
families and service members experience can be negative. However, what exactly are

Benefits Of Dramatic Play
Benefits of Dramatic play and musical theatre training from childhood to young
children
Dramatic play and Musical theatre are two powerful tools for the development and
learning process in children. In this piece we, will look at the two of them and their
benefits for children.
Dramatic Play
Is your child a creative type who is always rearranging his room to form a place such
as the airport or classroom? Does you little boy love being called a name
representative of a profession? What your child is doing is dramatic play.
Dramatic play refers to a form of play where children pretend to be someone or
something else, and act like the entity. The role they choose might be a familiar
person such as dad, or they might select a fictional character like Superman and stat

If your child attends a theatre arts school, his teacher can set up a scenario where the
children will be assigned roles to act out. The unstructured play is what your child
does at home in a place convenient for his creativity. You might see dramatic play as
mere pretensions, but experts say that it is an essential foundation in your child s
mental development and learning process, and parents should encourage their
children whenever they see their children playing in a dramatic way. Here are some
of the reasons why dramatic
Language Development
Dramatic play helps to develop children s language skills because it requires
children to be expressive as they need to communicate like the character they are
acting. Since they will be acting with other children, they talk freely with each other,
and they become comfortable with speaking in a group.
Builds Self Control
Children of preschool age can be unruly and out of control, but dramatic play
confines them to a role which they believe they need to stick to, and this engenders
coordination and the ability to control their impulses and work as a team with other
Memory Management and Microprocessor
ABSTRACT
In this paper, we will cover the memory management of Windows NT which will be
covered in first section, and microprocessors which will be covered in second section.
When covering the memory management of Windows NT, we will go through
physical memory management and virtual memory management of that operating
system. In virtual memory management section, we will learn how Windows NT
managing its virtual memory by using paging and mapped file I/O.
After covering the memory management, we will go through microprocessor. In this
section, we will learn a bit about the recent microprocessors, such as Intel and AMD
microprocessors. We also will learn about the trends that affecting the performance of
microprocessors.

The segmentation scheme in Intel 80386 microprocessor is more advanced than that
in Intel 8086 microprocessor. The 8086 segments start at a fixed location and are
always 64K in size, but with 80386, the starting location and the segment size can
separately be specified by the user.
The segments may overlap, it allows two segments to share address space. To send
the necessary information, segment tables with segment selector as index are used.
At any time, only two segment tables can be active. They are Global Descriptor
Table (GDT) and a Local Descriptor Table (LDT). This two segment table only can
be executed by the operating system.
Segment table is an array of segment descriptors which specify the starting address
and the size of the segment. Each segment descriptor has 2 bits specifying its
privilege level, called as the Descriptor Privilege Level (DPL). This DPL has to be
compared with Requested Privilege Level (RPL) and Current Privilege Level
(CPL) before processor grants the access to a segment. If the DPL of the segment is
less than or equals to the RPL as well as the CPL, then the processor will grant
access to a particular segment. This serves as protection mechanism for operating
system.
1.2.2.Virtual Memory Management in Windows NT
Windows NT virtual memory manager provides large virtual memory space to
applications via two memory management processes. They are called paging (moving

Compare And Contrast The Mill And The Factories
The factories and the mills are a mixed blessing. They drastically changed the way
we live and work, but also introduced a variety of problems. I am a female factory
worker in London. Thousands of families migrated into the city in hope of better
life and prosperity. A million people now live in London. The city has quadrupled
in size. More about urbanization?? The factories brought us job opportunities and
increased the production of goods. Inventions and ideas are still being introduced to
us left and right. Overall, the outcome from the factories and the widespread of new
ideas has raised our standard of living. However, it is mostly for the upper and upper
middle class. The upper class receives healthier diets, better housing, cheaper mass
Similarities Between The Rich Man s Son And The Gift

big characters or main characters are greedy and learn a lesson. The lesson that each
character learns is be thankful for what you get even If you didn t want that gift. The
theme in the story is the lesson that both characters learn.

perfectly shaped apple to the King. The King was very thankful and gave the

same thing only this time he gave the King a horse. He waited for something in
return from the King, but the King told him about the farmer and gave the merchant
the apple the farmer gave him. The merchant walked out angrily and then threw out
the apple. In the text it states, The King was greatly moved by the simple love of
the farmer. What should you have in return? The King asked. Name it, it is yours.

His father wanted to surprise his son with a journal, with a car key in the back. When
the boy received the journal he did not look in the back of the book and threw the
book to the ground and stormed out. In the text it states, He angrily raised his
voice, threw down the journal, and stormed out. This shows that the boy was
ungrateful for the journal. During the end of the story, the boy needs to take care of
the estate when his father died. When the the boy went back home he felt guilty and
found the journal when cleaning out his dad s papers. He flipped through the pages
and found a car key that said, Paid in full. Wherever this car takes you, write about it
to remember it forever. Love, Dad. This shows that the dad actually bought him a car

Robotic Lawn Mower Essay
Robotic Lawn Mowers May Interfere with NRQZ, NRAO Radio Telescopes
Robotic vacuums and mops are nothing new anymore, as iRobot has been making
them for several years to give people an easier and hands free method of keeping
their homes clean. However, the company s latest gadget, a robotic lawn mower, is
causing some strife between iRobot and the US National Radio Observatory (NRAO)
and the National Radio Quiet Zone (NRQZ) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/United_States_National_Radio_Quiet_Zone) in West Virginia.
The problem is that the robot lawn mower made by iRobot runs on a frequency that
could interfere with that of the radio telescopes used by NRAO, as well as those
used by NRQZ, which is a totally radio quiet zone where any gadget that could pose
a risk to the adventure of studying the signals from space are banned, such as smart
phones, etc. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
iRobot has already petitioned the Federal Communications Commission
(www.fcc.gov) to be allowed to ignore the ban against using their signal by the
observatories. The way the robotic lawn mowers would work, according to iRobot,
is that they run on batteries, and get signals from special beacons on stakes put into
various places all over the lawn to be mowed and these would receive those signals in
a frequency range of between 6240 and 6740

  • 2. Csf Rhinorrhea Research Paper Within the past few days, the news has been covering the story of KJ, a 52 year old woman in Omaha, Nebraska. During a traumatic motor vehicle accident a few years ago, KJ hit her face against the dashboard and started having severe migraines and constant runny nose. Multiple doctors have seen her since, most of them blame the runny nose on allergies and attempted to treat her with numerous allergies medications. This year, KJ was being seen by physicians at Nebraska Medicine and finally discovered that her runny nose was in fact a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak from her brain. KJ condition is known as CSF rhinorrhea, a rare but dangerous condition that can lead to significant morbidity and mortality for the patient. Multiple nuclear medicine imaging techniques can be used for the diagnosis of CSF rhinorrhea including Computed Tomographic (CT) Myelography and Radionuclide Cisternography.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CSF rhinorrhea can be divided in three types: traumatic, iatrogenic, and spontaneous /idiopathic. Traumatic CSF rhinorrhea is caused by injuries to the face and head. Causes of Iatrogenic CSF rhinorrhea includes any surgical manipulation near the skull base. Spontaneous/idiopathic CSF rhinorrhea generally occurs without antecedent causes but is possibly related to elevations in intracranial pressure. While some patients may have CSF rhinorrhea for years without any consequences, others may develop dangerous conditions like bacterial meningitis, brain abscess, or pneumocephalus within days of the onset of the runny nose. Because of the serious potential complications of CSF rhinorrhea, prompt detection, management and repair of all CSF rhinorrhea cases should be attempted. Especially in patient who potentially has CSF rhinorrhea with meningitis symptoms like ever, chills or stiff neck, immediate medical attention is

Once the accident occurred, life changed for Marius although he was always positive during his recovery process. Both of Marius s parents died during the accident, however, he still had a large support system. This support came from both Marius s older sister and brother who were not home at the time of the accident. Also, the interns at the hospital provided a large amount of help to Marius as did the interns parents and other family members. Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles as well as all of the support from teachers, home tutors, and the translator, Teodora, made the entire recovery process possible. So even though Marius did not have his parents, he still had an abundance of support and assistance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The doctors feared Marius would lose his sight so they had to place a gel in his eyes in order to hopefully maintain sight. The burns made it difficult for Marius to complete ADLs and it was months before he left bed and attempted to walk. Therefore, this was a long, expensive process in order to

  • 5. Summary Of The Escape From Reason By Paul Kurtz In Paul Kurtz s Fears of the Apocalypse: The Escape from Reason, he explains that the fixation on apocalypse grows out of fear of the unknown, and it is fed by hope of redemption (1). Written a year before the new millennium, Kurtz writes about how different types of doomsday prophecies such as the secular, religious, or New Age have predicted the world s fate. Although each prophecy has their own tale of how and when the world will end, they can all agree that the new millennium is the end for all of mankind. However, these dates have miniscule significance on these doomsday prophecies. Afterall, time is human creation. Throughout history, different cultures have used different calendars. For example, the calendar that everyone is familiar with is the Gregorian calendar, which indicates how many years it has been since Christ s death. Hence, we are living 2016 years after Christ s death. But if one were to look back to when the Gregorian calendar was introduced, 10 day seized to exist. If one were to look at the Chinese calendar, the year is currently 1417 because their system is based off the sun and moon phases.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I agree with this statement because in the past 18 years of my life, I have survived through dozens of apocalypses. Throughout history, new doomsday prophecies are always emerging. Kurtz uses the example of the preacher William Miller who interpreted the Bible s days as years. Miller calculated that the world would in end 1843 and when that failed, he pushed his predictions to another year. Looking back, I remember hearing how prepared people were for Rapture Day back in 2011. When the world failed to end, people insisted that a spiritual rapture had occurred instead. After that, the same scenario happened for the 2012 Doomsday that the Mayan Calendar had

Every age group has a unique view of the previous group, and groups, with different themes developing. The story of Emily resonates in numerous societies, from being treasured to being feared. The elderly in the community represent both wealth as well as poverty, just as Emily did, though not necessarily in material wealth. The story had a lot to convey, and a standout amongst the most consistent is the battle between Old South, the pre Civil War era vs the New South, which rose from the Civil War. Death too lingered throughout the story from the opening scene, up to the last scene, as Faulkner opened by narrating the beginning of the memorial service of Mrs. Emily. The aura associated with Emily is mysterious, due to a lack of understanding by the community. There is a lot of speculation going on in the scenes and settings, from the source of offensive smells to the sudden disappearance of characters associated with Emily. Emily is depicted as being stuck in time, presenting a character fighting time and consequences associated with aging, despite the world around her crumbling from agents of time. The strangeness surrounding the story comes from the failure to communicate and convey ideas and ideals effectively since by doing so, it would have been easier to understand Emily, as well as accord her help where she may have been in need of medical or psychological assistance in overcoming grief and death. William Faulkner told a story that had numerous ideas regarding society and how it worked in a particular day and age in the South. It s an imperative component in writing because of its examination of the effects of change made in the long time past South. This story serves a decent example for the generations to

  • 9. The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early Nineteenth... Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and defines the essence of its main character. The precise nature of this balance is not necessarily clear, and despite what seems to be a happy marriage, it may not be entirely possible to reconcile Elizabeth s independence and naturalness... Goblin Market Essay The aim of this particular essay is to examine and perform an in depth analysis relating to the theme of sexual temptations within the widely known poem, Goblin Market, by the Victorian era poet Christina Rossetti. Throughout this particular poem, Rossetti demonstrates the life of two maidens who live a life surrounded by sexual temptations; and within this dissertation, I intend to analyze the plethora of literary devices that Rossetti utilizes in order to portray this theme revolved around temptation, and the desire to fulfill sexual desires once one has succumbed to the temptation. The first stanza in the poem itself introduces us to a form of temptation when it is stated that, Morning and evening / Maids heard the goblins cry: / Come buy, our orchard fruits, / Come buy, come buy: / Apples and oranges, / Plump unpecked cherries / Melons and raspberries, / Bloom down cheeked peaches, / Swart headed mulberries... Here, the readers can most certainly comprehend that both of the women are vividly aware of the tricks in which the Goblins are attempting to carry out in order to seduce them. However, Laura is the only one that is quite intrigued by the thoughts of what the Goblins fruits might taste like or in a sexual connotation, the sexual pleasures she would obtain by experimenting with the Goblins genitalia. From this, we can ascertain that giving in to the temptation of consuming the fruit is considered to be a metaphor for losing one s sexual

One of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions is the burning of fossil fuels to provide what could be considered basic human comforts such as transportation, and electricity. Although the technology is readily available for a conversion from fossil fuels to renewable energy, it is argued that converting would negatively impact the work force, and the consumers cost of living. Pollution causes a variety of health problems: minor irritation to the eyes, nose, mouth and throat, headaches, dizziness, and more serious problems such as respiratory and lung diseases, cancer, heart disease, and stroke (Effects of Air Pollution on Human Health). Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology estimate that about 200 thousand early deaths in the United States can be linked to air pollution every year. A study done by Kruse et al. analyzed the loss of productivity associated with coronary heart disease, stroke, lung cancer, and COPD, some of the most serious health problems linked to air pollution. Their findings implicated that people had an overall significantly higher chance of leaving the labor market as a result of the disease, clearly reflecting a loss in productivity (Kruse et al. 4). This loss of productivity accumulated a cost of over 2.14 million dollars per 100,000 population in the age group 50 70 in one year (Kruse et al. 6). • 14. The s Theory Of Pan Africanism The oppression of Africans has been a prevalent source of pain and suffering since the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. Political and economic systems have been designed to implement disenfranchisement for people of color on all societal platforms. Throughout the course of the black experience, many prominent individuals held arguments and intellectual conversations regarding the socioeconomic characteristics of African Americans. The most controversial, prolific intellectual figure who harnessed a self reliance attitude, with the idea of collective identity as a people, was none other than the Caribbean born Marcus Garvey. Garvey, a social activist, was prominent in the Black Nationalism and Pan Africanismmovements. Theories developed by Garvey inspired millions as he lectured about self reliance and liberation of blacks to embark on the back to Africa movement. Achieving the goal of black liberation fueled the arguments presented by Marcus Garvey. Garvey s theory of Pan Africanism proved to be a dominant force in the unification of the African community. Throughout this essay, I will respond to the notion of Pan Africanism, Garvey s Ideologies, and his accomplishments in providing Black consciousness for the African diaspora. Garvey s ideologies were illustrated through his founding of the United Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), as well as being the founder of the Black Star Line which engaged the idea of the back to Africa movement. Collectively, these key

This step requires learning the rules. The rules of Ultimate Frisbee can be best described as a mix of soccer and football. An Ultimate frisbee field is 100 yards long by 40 yards wide, with fifteen yards of either end of the length of the field being designated as the endzones. To start, each team sends seven players to the front of each endzone and one team will throw the frisbee off to the other team in what is called a pull . This can be compared to a kickoff in football. Just like football, the goal of the game is ultimately to pass the frisbee to someone in the endzone to score a point. However unlike football and more like soccer, the game is played continuously without stoppage until someone scores. What is unique to frisbee is that when a player possesses the frisbee, they are not allowed to move. They must keep on foot planted until they throw the frisbee to a teammate. After a team score the will pull the disc to the other team at the opposite the one previously scored in. A normal Ultimate Frisbee game is played in a 90 minute time frame, with victory coming to the first team to score 13 points. If time runs out in the middle of play, then play will continue until someone scores. If at the end of that possesion, the score is tied, then the scoring team will pull the disc one more time in what is called Ultimate Point . In this case, the team who scores

Although contemporary evidence suggests that ancient depictions of women lack some credibility in their assertions, the weight of evidence reveals that while Greek women were socially and economically secure in marriage, the ideal image valued by Greek culture, one of humility and domesticity, meant that women exerted little legal, political and social influence. Despite doubts about their accuracy, ancient evidence shows that women, in accordance with the bigoted Greek society s idealised view, enjoyed a degree of responsibility within their household, but had little independence in the wider community. Background Of An Authorised Firearms Officer Chapter 1 Background When an authorised firearms officer in the police is involved in a shooting, procedures and guidelines are firmly incorporated to ensure that investigations are thoroughly carried out. However, most police officers in England and Wales will never possess a firearm, face a gun or discharge one as this supports the ideology that police officers in England and Wales have no desire to carry a firearm routinely (Rostker, 2008, p. 78) It is not a common occurrence for a weapon to be discharged in any firearms incident in England and Wales, for example if a firearm is discharged following an alert, over half the rounds fired are believed to miss their intended target and of those people hit by a round, more than half survive (Punch, 2011, p. 1). A similar situation also exists in the United States of America. The United States are viewed in the Western society as extreme in relation to weapons and violence because of its high police response rates to its widespread strong gun culture (Crank, 1998, p. 152). The United States will be introduced as a comparator to this research as it is already highly compared to other societies where the sale of weapons and its regulation is minimal, with only local law enforcement agencies setting the policy with no national policing system. Eventually, a civil war broke out between the north and south over the south not wanting slavery to be abolished. Tarantino has been know to tell most of his narratives in this very disjointed manner. The non linear order in all of his films helps to develop the characters much more before you get to see how they are related to the main narrative. It also helps to keep the audience s attention and makes them really focus on the individual scenes presented in the film. You can tell that Tarantino wants the audience to pay close attention to the main narrative as well as the message behind the film because he has always presented his films this way. Although there are benefits of this type of disjointed narrative, there are also a few things that could go wrong with them. For example, by jumping from scene to scene, you can get a feel for the type of character each person portrays, although not learning how much they actually matter to the main narrative. I think that Tarantino s style works well with Pulp Fiction simply because of the type of narrative he is trying to tell. For a good bit in the beginning of the film, Tarantino shows what seems like random dialogue just to show that both Jules and Vince like to joke around and kind of set the audience up to expect something that is not at all what really happens. By setting this up in the beginning of the film, Tarantino already has the audience paying close attention when the

The Longman dictionary defines privacy as the state of being able to be alone, not seen or heard by other people, and free from public attention. We may recognize that it is simple to keep privacy; nonetheless, journalists and people don t keep it even through they know that it is important. Furthermore, the tendency that it will be fine even if you do not keep privacy is getting stronger year by year. One of the reasons is because technology is developing rapidly in the world. This evidence is that a lot of people bring with them their smart phones and computers to the evidence of this. Stefano Taddei said, The results suggest practical implications for online social network providers, most of all with regard to privacy policies in online environments (2013). In the future, the providers will develop and affect us positive and negative through using technology. I believe that privacy is most important for the future because privacy is the origin of the media ethics, which is about indecency, control, and truthfulness. I think that privacy is a problem of particular importance concerning human s virtue in this time. First, the problem is indecency. Some argue that indecency in media encourages people to mimic the behavior they see in the news stories from sensational movies. They are prevalent to even children recently; moreover, these influences will remain strong even when the children became

The segmentation scheme in Intel 80386 microprocessor is more advanced than that in Intel 8086 microprocessor. The 8086 segments start at a fixed location and are always 64K in size, but with 80386, the starting location and the segment size can separately be specified by the user. The segments may overlap, it allows two segments to share address space. To send the necessary information, segment tables with segment selector as index are used. At any time, only two segment tables can be active. They are Global Descriptor Table (GDT) and a Local Descriptor Table (LDT). This two segment table only can be executed by the operating system. Segment table is an array of segment descriptors which specify the starting address and the size of the segment. Each segment descriptor has 2 bits specifying its privilege level, called as the Descriptor Privilege Level (DPL). This DPL has to be compared with Requested Privilege Level (RPL) and Current Privilege Level (CPL) before processor grants the access to a segment.
