slept on the street was the anniversary of terrorist bombings and catastrophes, as I
look back on it, I am not really sure what to think, was it just a coincidence? or is

The night I slept outside in September was definitely the worst and horrific and I
could never forget this one either.
This experience was slightly different because it was in London.
Yet again we had run out of money to pay for another night stay at a hotel. We had run
out of money the night before when we only had ВЈ60 left enough to pay for one night
sharing a single room. The hotels are usually not allowed to do this but the lady at
the reception desk allowed us to stay because we explained to her that we had no
money left.
We did not have any dinner that night and had no clue of what to do the next day.
The next morning we had to check out. And still we had no money, we had no idea
what to do. The suitcases were still with us and they were so difficult to travel
around London with. So I decided to put all our luggage inside the hotel s storage

Analysis Of Daniel Kahneman s The Surety Of Fools
Voltaire once said, Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is an absurd one.
We live in a world that is constantly changing and does not grant the certainty that
people desire. But, people want the stability of knowing what is going to happen; this
is why certainty is absurd. In his essay The Surety of Fools, Daniel Kahneman
provides examples of people using a phenomenon he calls the illusion of validity.
These people strongly believe their actions cause a specific outcome, when in reality
there is statistical evidence that shows their actions have no direct correlation with
the outcome. While Kahneman argues the illusion of validity comes partially from
people s tendency to make quick decisions without fully conveying the causes, it
really stems from people s fear of uncertainty from having a lack of knowledge. Other
fields of academia, such as science and economics, have admitted that uncertainty
grounds their thinking processes. Kahneman is inaccurate in neglecting to mention
that it is the fear of uncertainty that really causes the illusion of validity. Kahneman
argues that the illusion of validity comes from fast thinking because it is prone to
doubt. Meaning, people naturally think quickly because they need a reason and so
they do not have time to question their explanation. However, Kahneman neglects to

My youth pastor pulled out of our church parking lot at three am in the morning

Is it possible to be a Muslim without believing the validity of the prophecies of
Mohammed? Is it possible to be a Christian without believing in the resurrection of
Jesus? My definition of religion transformed greatly during my studies the past few
months. Even as a religion major at St. Olaf College I thought of religion very
narrowly, as a construct of metaphysical beliefs. But I ve come to realize that religion
runs far deeper than my Lutheran mind previously conceived.
By studying cultures and religions other than my own in Turkey, Morocco, Egypt and

The current version is 2.6 that was released nearly seven years ago in 2003. The
operating system itself can be used in the home or small office and is continuing to
rise to popularity (What is Linux, 2008). Windows began in 1985, version 1.0 and
was the very first Windows operating system. Back then, computers were slow and
were not able to multitask like we do now. in the 1990 s, Windows bagan to be
used in the office environment even though there were still no Internet services.
Nearly ten years later, Windows were used in almost all businesses and not so

James baldwin was an American novelist, essayist, playwright, poet, and social
critic. His essays were mostly of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western
societies, mostly in mid 20th century America. Some of Baldwin s essays are book

documentary film I Am Not Your Negro. Writer and playwright James Baldwin

born August 2, 1924, in Harlem, New York. One of the 20th century s greatest
writers, Baldwin broke new literary ground with the exploration of racial and social

That no one has the right to decide what is right for them, and that no one should
be able to mandate what they have to or do not have to do. This topic is no
different to them than say, flying in an airplane. No one tells them that they have
to fly in an airplane, which requires putting their life at risk, yet they themselves

Simone de Beauvoir asserts that one is not born, but, rather, becomes a woman
(Bailey, Alison, and Cuomo 97). In this analytical paper, I will attempt to relate to
this to my becoming a man, as well as comparing and contrasting this claim with
other feminist philosophers ideas. Also, I will try to explain how de Beauvoir s ideas
are beneficial to society and to individual people.
From birth to the first day in school, children seem to be concerned with food, love,
and rest. From first grade and on, however, I for one, found myself trying to define
who I am. What started as sharing food in first grade in order to make friend turned
into caring about the way I dressed in middle school. I was careful to follow society
s standards of what a boy should be like. This included walking a certain way, being
rude to the teacher, using crude language, pushing and shoving in lunch lines, and
picking on girls. Most of the time I didn t want to do those things, but it made me feel
masculine when I did them. Through repetition, I found myself identifying with those
habits.
Even to this day, I feel that I continue to follow a stylized repetition of acts in order
to construct an identity (Bailey, Alison, and Cuomo 97). I agree with de Beauvoir s

controversies surrounding the papacy of the Catholic Church, as well as other
matters of Catholic corruption, which would eventually lead to the reformation.

interpret the image as a representation of the Final Judgment , which is plausible
given this context of Bosch s time period. Because of religious conflict and turmoil,
people were likely confused and fearful of literal apocalyptic consequences. A more
sophisticated allegorical analysis of the piece is instead revealing of Bosch s
conceptual interpretation of the world and reality itself. The title suggests the piece
contains earthly delights , yet the absence of any man like items suggests that Bosch
s painting was instead metaphorically symbolic in its iconographic depictions. The
center panel should thus be interpreted allegorically in order to decode Bosch s
