Genghis Khan And The Mongol Empire Essay
Genghis Khan, one of the most tyrannical leaders know to man, is often associated with destruction,
carnage, ruin, and bloodshed. While these adjectives are true, he is also responsible for great economic
gains and massive expansion for the Khan empire. The Mongol Dynasty began in the thirteenth
century as a group of small nomadic tribes in Central Asia. Genghis was able to unite the small tribes
and begin to conquer Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Europe. During his time of leadership he
quickly conquered land, socially reformed, and made great economic gains for the Mongol empire.
Khan was able to start a postal system, acquired new trade routes, encouraged religious freedom, and
led many successful military campaigns. While also being a leader responsible for death and
bloodshed, his tactics were new and rather progressive. Khan was hundreds of years ahead of his time
when you look at his success with military tactics, trade, politics, and social reform. The main focus of
this paper is to reveal the ways Khan went about successfully ruling and expanding the Mongol
Dynasty. To better understand Genghis Khan one can look into his past to explain his reasoning and
methods. Genghis Khan, born under the name Temüjin, was born in approximately 1162 in present
day Northern Mongolia. He grew up as a nomad with a mother, father, and many brothers and sisters.
From a very early age, he faced adversity and numerous hardships in many different forms. At the age
of nine, he was

Sony s and Matsushita s management strategies
As we all known, Sony and Matsushita are two of the largest consumer electronic makers in Japan or
even in the world. And in this reading, it points out the different strategies Sony and Matsushita use
when they were facing the fierce competition in China Matushita was accelerating its pace on
stretching the supply chain in China while Sony unexpectedly decided to shift some of its
manufacturing business in China back to Japan. In this article, I will discuss the reasons that lead them
to make different decision as well as analysize the advantages and the disadvantages of their decision.

And the reason of it was still the cost. Indeed, this former strategices failed to match their product
characteristics with their supply priorities. That is, it cannot minimize their product cost. For example,
using Japanese suppliers before was twenty to thirty percent more empensive than using Chinese
suppliers, not to mention about the trasportation cost. In addition, their original Japanese design was
still increasing the cost in China s factories increase equipment cost cannot make good use of the
cheaper labor cost in China; increase producing cost by designing unnecessary function in China.
According to the reading, it is true that When digital camera and camcorder first appeared on the
market in the early 1900s, Sony only had a few competitors such as Canon and Olympus (49). Thus, it
cannot be denied that Sony can gained a competitve advantage by reducing price, thus Sony placed its
production in China in order to reduce the product s assembly and manufacturing. However, when
more competitors came, this strategices cannot work very well under this new circumstance, because
for high value added products like digital camera and camcorder, company cannot just focus on the
manufacturing cost and minizing cycle time is also attached great importance. The short produce life
cycle requires the company has more flexiable supply chain, otherwise it will increase its inventory
cost. Imagine that if Sony still placed its production in China,

The Hurricane Movie Essay
Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane
The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15 years. However,
The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience members
clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter.
The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial system through the
impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes
you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years.
The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel Washington (Rubin
Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The manuscript then
lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra makes it his mission and the
mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for the Hurricane .
At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the
Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New
Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored.
The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and the
anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout the film
with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican
Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the Titans. The
Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However, aside from Denzel Washington
s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya)
establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind
bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. This antagonist appears to be self
motivated without any clear sense of

A Brief Note On The Federal Aviation Agency Essay
dministration (FAA) is a federal agency within the United States Department of Transportation.
The Federal Aviation Administration was first named the Federal Aviation Agency . The Federal
Aviation Agency was established when the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 was created. With the
creation of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 it then gave more responsibilities to the FAA. These
responsibilities included complete control of oversight and regulation for safety within the aviation
industry. And the FAA was also responsible for military and civilian aircrafts within American
airspace. This was a great idea because it s better to have one agency overseeing both entities to
ensure accuracy and safety. Since there is one agency responsible for oversight this will lead to faster
problem solving because this agency has the final say and it does not have to rely or get a
confirmation from another agency about a particular issue relating to American airspace. The Federal
Aviation Agency name was changed to the Federal Aviation Administration when the United State
Department of Transportation adopted the Federal Aviation Agency. *** you input: collabration,

Brief Commentary on the Movie Apollo 13
Paying close attention to the crew members, one would notice how they should be getting along. They
have to work together no matter what and be able to stay calm. If not, it could be a life or death
situation. There were parts in the movie where one of the members had got frustrated and started
arguing with another member. The third member had to calm them down. If they were not to calm
down, things could have got messed up and unwanted situations or hazards could have happened.
Observing the interactions between the engineers at the mission control center, one could see that they
are an important aspect of the journey. They have to react accordingly and calm when they get into a
tough situation. One could tell that they clearly get frustrated but when a crisis occurs during the
mission, they go on to try and solve the problem, even if it s frustrating at first. My opinion of Gene
Kranz is that he wants to get work down and he wants to get work done right away. He puts a lot of
pressure on his peers, but I think he is a great leader. He doesn t put pressure on them to be mean, but
he does it because he needs them to work fast and efficient. I personally would want to buy into his
ideas and solutions, because he did help resolve a lot of the problems that went on with the Apollo 13
mission. The issue they needed to solve that was similar to our project was when they had to come up
with a solution to fix the oxygen leakage. They had to use the materials they knew the men in

The History Of Filmmaking Is Vast And Spans Several...
The history of filmmaking is vast and spans several centuries, beginning in the mid to late 1800s
following the invention of the camera, by experimenting with photography to create animation and
moving images. Since then, cinema has evolved from looping one to two minute scenes on film, to
one to two hour movies shot in a multitude of possible mediums, with several different types of
picture, sound, and digital effects. The advancements of digital cinema have disrupted the construction
of reality within narrative filmmaking, and have blurred the lines between animation and live action
film by reaffirming film s place as a classical art. The contrasting ideas between Lev Manovich s

Camera placement and framing also warps reality by inaccurately trying to imitate the human eye.
This practice of verisimilitude continues through to post production when editing manipulates the
viewer further by implying temporal and spatial relations that likely didn t exist during production.
Hollywood creates their own version of reality without the use of tangible special effects, but
nevertheless it s all fabricated: Mise en scène is, perhaps, the most indispensable ingredient in
grounding a text in realism. The representation of a materially recognisable world is the one that the
photographic media are most obviously qualified to achieve. Any departure from this recognisability
is perceived as a significant departure from verisimilitude, inviting an immediate questioning of its
cause or effect. [...] [T]o represent a simulacrum of the material world is to assert the fictional reality
of narrative events. This goes to show that even with an absence of special and visual effects,
cinematic verisimilitude will never truly be one hundred percent real. Alternatively, when digital
cinema does incorporate special effects such as 3 D computer generated images, or CGI animation
there is no reason why it should be grounded in reality. The purpose of these technologies is to create

Title and Author: Million Dollar Throw, Mike Lupica Setting: The setting of this story takes place in
Valley, Massachusetts during football season. A greater part of the story takes place on a football field,

Another big part of the story takes place at Nate s house in his bedroom that is decorated by his

Main Characters: The main characters in the story include Nate Brodie, Pete Mullaney, and Abby

Another thing that I analyzed them on is what their attitude is like. Nate is by far the hardest worker
on the Valley 8th grade team. He is the first one to the locker room and last to leave. He will do
anything for his team to win the game, even if that means him getting hit, or not playing. Nate is a
very good person off the field as well. Pete is also a hard worker, but not as much as Nate. Same as
Nate, Pete is a very good person of the field. Unlike Nate Pete is not as willing to do anything to win.
The next thing that I analyzed the two on is what their talent is like. Nate is the smartest player on the
team when it comes to football, but when it comes to school he isn t that smart. Nate s talent as far as
football goes is outstanding, he is the above all other 8th grade quarterbacks in Massachusetts. Pete is
very smart as a football player and a student in school. Pete is the best receiver in Valley,

The Refugee Crisis And The Arab Spring
The Refugee Crisis
Nothing ever stays in the place it stars; everything has a habit of spreading. Throughout history,
problems rarely ended in the places they started. Like the plague, Ebola, WWI/II, communism, the
Arab spring, and now the Syrian crisis. The Arab Spring was a series of anti government protests,
uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. The Arab spring
protest against al Assad s Syrian government in the spring of 2011 evolved into an armed conflict
between oppositions and government forces in certain cities and then evolved into a civil war. The
Syrian civil war caused the large scale diaspora of Syrian citizens, leading to the Syrian refugee crisis.
The Syrian refugee crisis led to psychological and physical problems for the refugees and various
problems in neighboring host countries, but solutions have been effective so far.
The refugee crisis led to physical problems like inadequate accommodation, lack of necessities, and
comfort. In addition, Psychological problems, due to trauma that has been suffered and continuing
problems with day to day living. According to the United Nations, approximately 2 million Syrian
refugees are seeking asylum in the neighboring countries of Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon and half of
those refugees are children Thousands of these children were displaced in refugee camps; some of
them without their parents to comfort them from the horrors of war (a1). According to Dr. Rona,

Education. Why is it such an easy word to understand but such a tedious task to accomplish? We come
from a society that hands out education easily, however that education comes with a price. Jean Anyon
explains this process through her research in From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work.
Anyon dissects the socio economic class that determines the types of instruction students receive.
Through her research one can compare her findings to Mike Rose s narrative, I Just Wanna Be
Average, to be true and insightful. Rose speaks of his high school life as an underachiever as well as
his ability to break free from the mold that he was once placed in. Comprehending both Anyon and

t disciplined properly in the vocational program, whereas MacFarland prepped his students to focus on
college to the point of helping them with their entrance paperwork. This is another example how the
executive elite class teachers inspire their students to go beyond their limitations. As limits go, I
realized they existed in 1984 when I had to suffer through Sister Barbara s 8th grade English Class at
St. Stephens. Our class of 64 was divided into two groups, the working class and the executive elite.
There was nothing in between. One either had it or didn t. I obviously didn t have it. The executive
elite class had options to work in teams and come up with brilliant stories to read to the class. In the
end, the group with the best writings received candy treats as prizes. Candy treats still rings in my ear
and that is where it stayed. Our sad working class group was uninspiring and restricted to working
alone at our desk with no treats in sight. Sister Barbara thought it would be a good idea for us working

Faulty Hill Formation Research Paper
At the intersection of Neva Road and U.S. 36 we examined three different members, the Smoky Hill,
Fort Hayes, and Codell, which belong to two different formations, Niobrara and Benton. The Smoky
Hill and Fort Hayes belong to the Niobrara formation while Codell belongs to the Benton Formation.
In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These
three formations are of Late Cretaceous.
The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves
mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill
is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in
rectangular like shapes. Mudstones are deposited in low energy environments, like ocean floor, deltas,
or lakes.

This sandstone is a dark ish gray brown, medium to fine grained sandstone. This sandstone was the
most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are usually
deposited at a higher energy because as the energy level lowers the force can not longer hold the
heavier particle. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone
can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts.
The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and
limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud,
and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely
living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact that the clam
fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower energy
environments like the sea

Introducing an electronic gadget that can scan barcodes. This will introduce a different item that will
serve only one purpose of scanning barcodes.
2. Attaching each product with a note containing all the details of the product. This will make it easier
for those who can afford a mobile with barcode scanner or a gadget which can scan the barcodes of
products.
Feasibility analysis
According to Hu Mousavinezhad (2013), developing the mobile application will feasible and viable
since almost everyone uses a phone and this will be very easy and convenient to just install the mobile
application on the phone and thus can scan the barcodes of the products. The Introducing an electronic
gadget that can scan barcodes is feasible to some extent since it will be a specialized product for that
purpose but in terms of the extra cost to the consumers it may be a project that will fail. Attaching
each product with a note containing all the details of the product may also be a feasible idea but it s
only that this may affect the look and cover image of the product i.e. text books.
The cost of ownership of the mobile application
The cost of ownership of the mobile application to be introduced is determined in terms of the direct
and indirect costs that are associated with it. The direct cost on this is the purchase of the mobile
phone with this application. The indirect cost is the associated cost such as the cost of recharging the
battery since the laser powered

mechanism for collaboration and action toward a revolution and regime change. Together, we set to

The match that was able to ignite and unite the people of Egypt to act on their dislike of the regime

Alexandria, two police officers approached Khaled Said and arrested him on the premise that the
possessed a video material that implicates members of the police in a drug deal (Wedeman). Multiple
witnesses from that day testified that the situation escalated and resulted in Saeed being dragged
across the street by the police officers and beaten to death while doctors tried to intervene and revive
him. Ali Kassem, Said uncle stated in conjunction with his nephew s death, Every family in Egypt has
seen something like this happen to a member. I will feel like I have attained justice only if the regime

event stated that Saeed suffocated in an attempt to swallow drugs, and the original arrest was for theft

Informative Essay On Attack By Social Media
Attack By Social Media Over the past fifteen years, social media has become popular in
communicating and connecting with people around the world. We have adapted to a lifestyle that
revolves around social media and children are surrounded by mobile devices and social networking
sites that made a lasting impact on them. A person can instantaneously connect with someone else
across the globe with one click or tap. Social media can have positive aspects like having a voice and
connecting with people around the world but with positive outlooks, it can also have negative effects
that make a lasting impression on our society and world. Because of the invasion of privacy, addictive
nature, and the impact on children s education, I believe social media has a negative impact on our
world. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter allows you to create a bio and share photos

Malala Yousafzai Is Not An Average Teenager
Essay on I Am Malala (#2) As part of the Noble Committee, it has come to my understanding that it is
time to award the winner(s) of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. There have been a select few who have
earned the prize from human rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr., to the faithful and compassionate
Mother Teresa. In order to be awarded with this prize, our committee believes that the candidate has
made the world a better place while exhibiting the traits of wisdom, experience, and ambition. This
year, I would like to nominate Malala Yousafzai. Now, I understand that my choice may be skeptical.
After all, what has this seventeen year old done to deserve such a prize? Most of the time, teenagers
are found hanging out with friends, working part time jobs, or tweeting about the latest celebrity
drama. These teenagers are not concerned about changing the world for the better. However, I argue
that Malala Yousafzai is not an average teenager. Malala Yousafzai is a young Pakistani woman, who I
believe should earn the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. She fits the requirements of bringing peace and
equality to the world, and demonstrates courage by fighting for girls education. In addition, Malala
faced two challenging obstacles in her life. First of all, Malala understood that the Taliban s laws were
biased, especially the rules directed towards women. The Taliban is an Islamic terrorist organization
that imposes a strict interpretation of the Quran, the Muslim s holy book.

Marketing Strategy For Single Serve Coffee Products,...
Strategic Issue: Throughout the case, it becomes clear that competition may be hindering your product
from leading the market. A limited amount of compact company resources and the constant
technological advancements may prevent the company from performing to the best of its capabilities.
In order to address this issue, we recommend that you investigate our recommendations to increase
market share by implementing the strategies that will be discussed in this memorandum.
Strategic Analysis:
Strengths: When it comes to the market for single serve coffee products, Keurig holds strong
recognition. Keurig has many popular branding partners such as: Green Mountain Coffee, Bigelow
Tea Company and Caribou Coffee. Other strengths unique to Keurig are the intellectual property and
intangible resources that you possess. Keurig s patents on the machines and their use hold great value.
The widely available nature of Keuring allows for its distribution throughout multiple channels. These
products gain recognition in supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores, offices, and hotels.
Weaknesses: Keurig s relatively low expenditures on advertising result in a low global recognition.
Green Mountain Coffee Roaster s inability to predict the K Cup demand and warranty issues also
should be considered as weaknesses. With the change in technology, consumers are always expecting
more and Keurig has to keep up with new demands as well as product innovation.

Introduction
The 2006 Census Public Use Microdata File (PUMF) involved a total of 844,476 people. Participants
were randomly selected in a manner that represented all social characteristics that existed among
Canadians. Technically, it was estimated that the number represented only 2.7% of the Canadian
population. It is also on record that the 2006 PUMF involved a total of 123 population variables, of
which 83% (102) represented individual variables, while the remaining 17% (21) of all variables used
represented family, dwelling, and household variables. The purpose of this research is to determine
how the cost of shelters and age distribution affects the Aboriginal people of Canada in relation to the
2006 Census Public Use Microdata File (PUMF) on individuals. The research employs both age
distribution and shelter cost as major variables affecting the Aboriginal population. The research will
conduct an inferential statistical analysis on three major variables: Aboriginal population, shelter cost,
and age. For the purpose of this research, both age and shelter costs will be employed as independent
variables relating to the overall Aboriginal population, which is the dependent variable. Another
question that the paper aims to research is whether there exists a relationship

Girl And Girl By Jamaica Kincaid
Comparing and Contrasting If and Girl
Introduction: In Girl by Jamaica Kincaid and If by Rudyard Kipling are two poems that a girl and boy

daughter doesn t want to do and in If there is a boy that has a father that is encouraging and he is being
told stuff by his dad. They both have a similar thing, they are both poems and their endings aren t the

The Maddaddam Trilogy
Many games appear in the MaddAddam trilogy (Three Dimensional Waco, Kwiktime Osama,
Barbarian Stomp, Extinctathon, Blood and Roses, and Painball to name a few), and they have varying
levels of significance to the plot. Some games were significant for Crake and Glenn s budding
friendship, as fodder for them to bond and spend time together. Extinctathon became the means of
organizing the MaddAddam group, the group through which Glenn teams up with Adam One and
eventually coerces the scientists to help develop the Crakers. Chess is another game which reoccurs in
the series, and instrumentally facilitates the apocalyptic events of the trilogy. In MaddAddam, Pilar

Religion Vs. Delusions With Religious Content
I spent 6 weeks at Unit 1 Dandenong Hospital further exploring the field of psychiatry, a branch of
medicine that interests me and something that I may pursue as a career in the future. Whilst on this
rotation I encountered a number of patients with delusions of religious content (DRC), however it took
me a while to understand the differences between DRC and religious beliefs. As of this day I still am a
bit confused as to the differences between the two as the literature behind this is still quite limited. I
have included a brief discussion regarding this issue in the field of psychiatry and my journey through
it.

The Profession Of Nurse And Nurse Migration
World Health Organisation [WHO] (2009) indicates the profession of nurse is a key component and
major contributor to the global healthcare workforce. However, nursing worldwide has significant
disparities, notably apparent between developed and developing countries. Although there are signs of
improvement, much needs to be done to globalise the standards of nursing. There is a substantial
difference in the profession of nurse in Australia compared to India and the issues encountered
(Charles et al., 2014). In modern society the social stigmata and issue of equality in regard to the
profession of nurse in India remains visibly evident (Nair, 2012). Exposure to poor workplace
conditions impact job satisfaction and fuel the problem of skilled nurse shortages and nurse migration
(Timmons, 2014). The importance of high quality education is challenging when faced with below
average resources and unqualified teaching faculty (Evans, Razia, Cook, 2013). With The growth of
nursing in India is significantly hindered due to factors of social status, equality and education. The
nursing profession in India, one of the fastest growing professions, continues to demonstrate negative
stigmatic labelling (Nair, 2011). Although attitudes are changing, the social status of nursing in India
remains plagued with archaic perceptions coupled with cultural beliefs that modern nursing is still
trying to challenge and overcome. Nursing in India is perceived as an inferior occupation,

The National Football League ( Nfl )
The National Football League(NFL) is running one of its own games on the public, and as one the
most supported non profit organizations in American history. The NFL excels at tackling the American
taxpayer. It should be of no surprise that with its religious like following, the NFL receives the same
tax exempt status as a church, exempted under the IRS 501 (c)(6) code from paying federal taxes. The
legislation puts the NFL as a non profit trade association which it has been under since 1942. This
statement intends me to ask what Steve Almond asked in his book Against Football: One Fan s
Reluctant Manifesto how did this happen (Almond pg.81)? Imagine driving through a city. The things
you see around you are: average constructed schools, average constructed houses, bumpy roads, and
very old structured buildings. Oh but wait, in the middle of the city you see a huge modern electrical
sign on top of a huge modern structure saying The Coca Cola Arena . At this minute you may ask,
how can a very average sized constructed town have one the most fascinating buildings in the world?
This to me is very controversial and leads me to agree with Steve Almonds claim that the NFL is an
ideal model of crony capitalism and a corporate oligarchy. let s try to answer the question why the
heck the NFL is tax exempt. Business leagues, chambers of commerce, real estate boards, boards of

Wr Grace Case Summary
W.R. Grace amp; Co. Audit
W.R. Grace amp; Co. (The Company) is a company that makes some of the materials that are used in
the production of products ranging from medicine to gasoline. The Company was audited by an
accounting firm (The Firm) that is recognized as one of the Big Four Accounting firms in the world.
The Firm found that the company was participating in a practice known as profit management .
Profit management occurs when a company defers some of its revenues from the current period, and
keeps it in a separate account to use in the future to inflate earnings. Profit management occurred at
The Company because executives were afraid that the increase in earnings would not last, and that if

The Firm did not comply with this standard since, given the opportunity, another firm may have been
more persistent about rectifying the problem before signing the financial statements.
Managing the internal audit activity is the responsibility of the Chief Audit Executive (CAE). Mr.
Eatough was the CAE in this case, therefore it was his responsibility to oversee the quality of The
Firm s work and to report the outcomes to the board. Mr. Eatough did not effectively manage the
internal audit activity since the outcome of The Firm s work did not conform with the IIA s Code of
Ethics or the Standards. The Company should initially have appointed a board to which Mr. Eatough
could have written his report. He would have been able to draw the board s attention to the fact that
The Company executives were partaking in an unethical activity.
Mr. Eatough s report referred to the profit managing activity as a deliberate deferral of reported
income when he should have called it fraud. Standard 2410 requires that results are communicated in
such a way as to minimize the risk of misinterpretation. Since Mr. Eatough did not call the profit
management fraud, he left the report open to misinterpretation.
Ultimately, Mr. Eatough should write a report that clearly outlines what is happening at The Company.
The report should be given to the board of directors who

The Effects Of School Violence On Today s Youth
Abstract
This research investigates definitions of school violence in general and as a subset of youth violence
in particular and investigates and the core environmental factors and the individual student risk factors
found to contribute to school violence. The research also includes investigation into the effects of
school violence on today s youth in general and the negative outcomes of school violence including
poor physical health, poor mental health, poor academic achievement, and a decreased sense of
safety/well being in particular. The research concludes with an exploration of some of the prevention
and intervention strategies proven to be effective in reducing violence in other countries from a school
based bullying/victimization intervention program implemented in Norwegian schools, to a South
African social development curriculum to cognitive behavioral training programs to community and
school based media campaigns developed for teaching social skills around anger management,
impulse control, and empathy that need to be implemented in American schools to keep our children
safe.
From physical, mental and sexual abuse to theft and vandalism to murder, violent acts in American
schools continue to be a growing problem. In a 2011 survey of high school aged youth, 12 percent
reported being in a physical fight on school property in a 12 month period (NCIPC, 2012). Between
2011 and 2013, this increased to 25 percent (Child Trends Data Bank, 2014b). In

The Death Penalty And The Fourteenth Amendment
The death penalty to many people could be considered unconstitutional under the eighth and the
fourteenth amendment s. People fear nothing more than death itself because death is final. Execution
dates being carried out promptly with assigned dates after a fair trial would discourage almost anyone
from committing future crimes that are worthy of execution. We as a society are based on the need for
retribution and vengance. Making a wrongdoer pay the price equivalent to the price the wrongdoer
did. Sparsely carrying out executions prolongs the mental and emotional suffering of the victim s
family and friends. It cost taxpayers millions of dollars per year, more than general population to
house a death row inmates. Allowing death row inmates to sit on death row for 25 plus years is a
lugsury most dont deserve. With less than 10% of all inmates being exonorated in the past 200 years
of death penalties it is unclear why executions are not more readily carried out.
Currently, the total number of inmates that have been executed in the US is 1,434. While the total
number of inmates currently on death row is 2,943, 55 of which are female inmates.
Our desire for retribution dates back as early as the 18th Century BC. We feel the need to see the
wrongdoer have consequences for their actions. To be punished and feel the pain that their victim felt
so they can also suffer. Some people love that idea that the person who commited a crime suffers by
whatever means necessary. Knowing

The Topic Of Controlling Women’S Reproductive Systems Has
The topic of controlling women s reproductive systems has been an issue for many years. About a
century ago, birth control in any form was illegal. As women s rights came to the forefront of
American politics, women fought for the right to vote and gained the ability to use contraception and
eventually get abortions. In 1921, The American Birth Control League formed ; this later became
Planned Parenthood, and gained thirty thousand members in its first three years. This organization
founded the first birth control clinic. In 1938, the US Circuit of Appeals decided a case that permitted
physicians to give information about contraception to their patients. By the 1940s, there were three

States could only enact abortion laws protecting the life of the fetus only in the third trimester, but
exceptions must be made to protect the life of the mother. Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington fought
the case on behalf of Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe) under the claim that the Texas law banning
abortions violated Roe s constitutional rights to privacy (McBride, Roe v. Wade). The Supreme Court
decided in Roe s favor in a 7 2 decision (Oyez, Roe v. Wade). The decision deemed marriage,
contraception, and child rearing as part of a Constitution guaranteed zone of privacy from the 1st, 4th,
9th, and 14th amendments. This decision also deemed a woman s right to terminate her pregnancy as
part of this zone of privacy. The opposition gave three justifications for banning abortions. The first
was a Victorian like social concern to discourage illicit sexual conduct, the second to protect the life of
the mother, and the third to protect prenatal life. The court rejected the first two reasons, and ruled that
fetuses do not fit the definition of a person (McBride) The court also ruled that if a fetus is viable, then
states may disallow abortions as long as the life of the mother is not at stake, and states may restrict
abortions during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Forty six states were affected by this decision.
In 1992, the United States Supreme Court ruled on the Casey v. Planned Parenthood case. While this
case affirmed Roe. v Wade, it

The Giant Impact Theory On The Moon
In 1975, two scientists by the name of Dr. William K. Hartmann and Dr. Donald R. Davis, came up
with a groundbreaking new theory on how the moon was created. Their theory stated At the time Earth
formed 4.5 billion years ago, other smaller planetary bodies were also growing. One of these hit earth
late in Earth s growth process, blowing out rocky debris. A fraction of that debris went into orbit
around the Earth and aggregated into the moon (Hartmann Herres 1). This theory is known as the
Giant Impact Theory and is the accepted theory in the scientific community of how the moon was
created. Even though this theory is accepted by most, there are still some people who don t hold this
theory to be true. I agree with Davis and Hartmann s Giant Impact Theory that a great collision
occurred and created the moon. The Giant Impact Theory is supported by the lack of iron on the
moon, the moon rocks from the Apollo missions, and its acceptance in the scientific community.
Mostly every planet in our solar system has some traces of iron that can be found. But the moon is
unique, because there is little to no iron on the moon. The Moon has an abnormally low density
compared to the terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars), indicating that it lacks high
density iron (Giant Impact Theory For Moon Formation Boosted 1). The density of the moon is 3.346
g/cm3, while the Earth is much denser at 5.52 g/cm3 (Cain 1). The moons low density correlates with

A Common Technique Used By John Updike
A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into
their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned
underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach readers a
significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy from A P and
Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find both receive wake up calls from
the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations where their morals and
beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high stress situations to make
the reader question their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to empathize with the main
characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations that force them to question their
way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to them, but also lessons everyone has to
learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a character in Sammy that young boys are able to
relate to, and then making him mature due to a shocking realization about the real world. Like most
teenage boys, he is sarcastic and opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant.
The mundane routine of his boring bag boy job is turned upside down when the three girls around his
age walk in. He immediately takes notice and starts to pick apart every detail about the trio.

De Lorme Earthmate PN 40 Waterproof Hiking GPS which is capable of high speed downloading of
the maps and images you might need. As with this model the unit should be small and lightweight to
avoid being an extra burden for the hiker. A very important feature that you should look for in a device
like this is good battery life since it is not always possible to predict how long a hike will last.
Although some newer models have a reputation for being heavy on the battery but there are units that
offer up to twenty hours of use. While this is suitable for a short hike it is not for a longer hike and so
it would be necessary to have extra batteries on

  • 2. Genghis Khan And The Mongol Empire Essay Genghis Khan, one of the most tyrannical leaders know to man, is often associated with destruction, carnage, ruin, and bloodshed. While these adjectives are true, he is also responsible for great economic gains and massive expansion for the Khan empire. The Mongol Dynasty began in the thirteenth century as a group of small nomadic tribes in Central Asia. Genghis was able to unite the small tribes and begin to conquer Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Europe. During his time of leadership he quickly conquered land, socially reformed, and made great economic gains for the Mongol empire. Khan was able to start a postal system, acquired new trade routes, encouraged religious freedom, and led many successful military campaigns. While also being a leader responsible for death and bloodshed, his tactics were new and rather progressive. Khan was hundreds of years ahead of his time when you look at his success with military tactics, trade, politics, and social reform. The main focus of this paper is to reveal the ways Khan went about successfully ruling and expanding the Mongol Dynasty. To better understand Genghis Khan one can look into his past to explain his reasoning and methods. Genghis Khan, born under the name Temüjin, was born in approximately 1162 in present day Northern Mongolia. He grew up as a nomad with a mother, father, and many brothers and sisters. From a very early age, he faced adversity and numerous hardships in many different forms. At the age of nine, he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Sony and Matshisuta Ziyin Zhou MGT301 11/9/2014 Sony s and Matsushita s management strategies As we all known, Sony and Matsushita are two of the largest consumer electronic makers in Japan or even in the world. And in this reading, it points out the different strategies Sony and Matsushita use when they were facing the fierce competition in China Matushita was accelerating its pace on stretching the supply chain in China while Sony unexpectedly decided to shift some of its manufacturing business in China back to Japan. In this article, I will discuss the reasons that lead them to make different decision as well as analysize the advantages and the disadvantages of their decision. Differences between Matsushita and Sony Frist of all, the differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And the reason of it was still the cost. Indeed, this former strategices failed to match their product characteristics with their supply priorities. That is, it cannot minimize their product cost. For example, using Japanese suppliers before was twenty to thirty percent more empensive than using Chinese suppliers, not to mention about the trasportation cost. In addition, their original Japanese design was still increasing the cost in China s factories increase equipment cost cannot make good use of the cheaper labor cost in China; increase producing cost by designing unnecessary function in China. According to the reading, it is true that When digital camera and camcorder first appeared on the market in the early 1900s, Sony only had a few competitors such as Canon and Olympus (49). Thus, it cannot be denied that Sony can gained a competitve advantage by reducing price, thus Sony placed its production in China in order to reduce the product s assembly and manufacturing. However, when more competitors came, this strategices cannot work very well under this new circumstance, because for high value added products like digital camera and camcorder, company cannot just focus on the manufacturing cost and minizing cycle time is also attached great importance. The short produce life cycle requires the company has more flexiable supply chain, otherwise it will increase its inventory cost. Imagine that if Sony still placed its production in China, ... • 4. The Hurricane Movie Essay Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15 years. However, The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will leave audience members clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter. The movie demonstrates the racial inequity that can be found in our judicial system through the impressive acting by Denzel Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes you wonder who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years. The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel Washington (Rubin Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The manuscript then lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra makes it his mission and the mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for the Hurricane . At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the support of the Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they take Rubin s case to the New Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored. The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent performances and the anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel Washington proved this throughout the film with his representation of Rubin Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican Brief, Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the Titans. The Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However, aside from Denzel Washington s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya) establishes himself throughout the film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind bars. His motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. This antagonist appears to be self motivated without any clear sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Brief Note On The Federal Aviation Agency Essay dministration (FAA) is a federal agency within the United States Department of Transportation. The Federal Aviation Administration was first named the Federal Aviation Agency . The Federal Aviation Agency was established when the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 was created. With the creation of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 it then gave more responsibilities to the FAA. These responsibilities included complete control of oversight and regulation for safety within the aviation industry. And the FAA was also responsible for military and civilian aircrafts within American airspace. This was a great idea because it s better to have one agency overseeing both entities to ensure accuracy and safety. Since there is one agency responsible for oversight this will lead to faster problem solving because this agency has the final say and it does not have to rely or get a confirmation from another agency about a particular issue relating to American airspace. • 6. Brief Commentary on the Movie Apollo 13 Paying close attention to the crew members, one would notice how they should be getting along. They have to work together no matter what and be able to stay calm. If not, it could be a life or death situation. There were parts in the movie where one of the members had got frustrated and started arguing with another member. The third member had to calm them down. If they were not to calm down, things could have got messed up and unwanted situations or hazards could have happened. Observing the interactions between the engineers at the mission control center, one could see that they are an important aspect of the journey. They have to react accordingly and calm when they get into a tough situation. One could tell that they clearly get frustrated but when a crisis occurs during the mission, they go on to try and solve the problem, even if it s frustrating at first. My opinion of Gene Kranz is that he wants to get work down and he wants to get work done right away. He puts a lot of pressure on his peers, but I think he is a great leader. He doesn t put pressure on them to be mean, but he does it because he needs them to work fast and efficient. I personally would want to buy into his ideas and solutions, because he did help resolve a lot of the problems that went on with the Apollo 13 mission. The issue they needed to solve that was similar to our project was when they had to come up with a solution to fix the oxygen leakage. They had to use the materials they knew the men in ... The history of filmmaking is vast and spans several centuries, beginning in the mid to late 1800s following the invention of the camera, by experimenting with photography to create animation and moving images. Since then, cinema has evolved from looping one to two minute scenes on film, to one to two hour movies shot in a multitude of possible mediums, with several different types of picture, sound, and digital effects. The advancements of digital cinema have disrupted the construction of reality within narrative filmmaking, and have blurred the lines between animation and live action film by reaffirming film s place as a classical art. Camera placement and framing also warps reality by inaccurately trying to imitate the human eye. This practice of verisimilitude continues through to post production when editing manipulates the viewer further by implying temporal and spatial relations that likely didn t exist during production. Hollywood creates their own version of reality without the use of tangible special effects, but nevertheless it s all fabricated: Mise en scène is, perhaps, the most indispensable ingredient in grounding a text in realism. The representation of a materially recognisable world is the one that the photographic media are most obviously qualified to achieve. Any departure from this recognisability is perceived as a significant departure from verisimilitude, inviting an immediate questioning of its cause or effect. This goes to show that even with an absence of special and visual effects, cinematic verisimilitude will never truly be one hundred percent real. Alternatively, when digital cinema does incorporate special effects such as 3 D computer generated images, or CGI animation there is no reason why it should be grounded in reality. A greater part of the story takes place on a football field, or at Coppo field. Coppo field is where Nate throws a football through a tire hung by a tree branch. Another big part of the story takes place at Nate s house in his bedroom that is decorated by his favorite sport celebrities. Main Characters: The main characters in the story include Nate Brodie, Pete Mullaney, and Abby McCall. Nate Brodie is a star quarterback for the 8th grade Valley, Massachusetts football team. Nate is the quarterback for the Valley, Massachusetts 8th grade football team and is the best 8th grade quarterback in the state of Massachusetts. Pete is a wide receiver for the Valley, Massachusetts 8th grade team and is the best wide receiver on the 8th grade team. Another thing that I analyzed them on is what their attitude is like. Nate is by far the hardest worker on the Valley 8th grade team. He is the first one to the locker room and last to leave. He will do anything for his team to win the game, even if that means him getting hit, or not playing. Nate is a very good person off the field as well. Pete is also a hard worker, but not as much as Nate. Same as Nate, Pete is a very good person of the field. Unlike Nate Pete is not as willing to do anything to win. The next thing that I analyzed the two on is what their talent is like. Nate is the smartest player on the team when it comes to football, but when it comes to school he isn t that smart. Nate s talent as far as football goes is outstanding, he is the above all other 8th grade quarterbacks in Massachusetts. Pete is very smart as a football player and a student in school. • 9. The Refugee Crisis And The Arab Spring The Refugee Crisis Nothing ever stays in the place it stars; everything has a habit of spreading. Throughout history, problems rarely ended in the places they started. Like the plague, Ebola, WWI/II, communism, the Arab spring, and now the Syrian crisis. The Arab Spring was a series of anti government protests, uprisings, and armed rebellions that spread across the Middle East in early 2011. The Arab spring protest against al Assad s Syrian government in the spring of 2011 evolved into an armed conflict between oppositions and government forces in certain cities and then evolved into a civil war. The Syrian civil war caused the large scale diaspora of Syrian citizens, leading to the Syrian refugee crisis. The Syrian refugee crisis led to psychological and physical problems for the refugees and various problems in neighboring host countries, but solutions have been effective so far. The refugee crisis led to physical problems like inadequate accommodation, lack of necessities, and comfort. In addition, Psychological problems, due to trauma that has been suffered and continuing problems with day to day living. According to the United Nations, approximately 2 million Syrian refugees are seeking asylum in the neighboring countries of Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon and half of those refugees are children Thousands of these children were displaced in refugee camps; some of them without their parents to comfort them from the horrors of war (a1). We come from a society that hands out education easily, however that education comes with a price. Jean Anyon explains this process through her research in From Social Class and the Hidden Curriculum of Work. Anyon dissects the socio economic class that determines the types of instruction students receive. Through her research one can compare her findings to Mike Rose s narrative, I Just Wanna Be Average, to be true and insightful. Rose also explained that he wasn t disciplined properly in the vocational program, whereas MacFarland prepped his students to focus on college to the point of helping them with their entrance paperwork. This is another example how the executive elite class teachers inspire their students to go beyond their limitations. As limits go, I realized they existed in 1984 when I had to suffer through Sister Barbara s 8th grade English Class at St. Stephens. Our class of 64 was divided into two groups, the working class and the executive elite. There was nothing in between. One either had it or didn t. I obviously didn t have it. The executive elite class had options to work in teams and come up with brilliant stories to read to the class. In the end, the group with the best writings received candy treats as prizes. Candy treats still rings in my ear and that is where it stayed. Our sad working class group was uninspiring and restricted to working alone at our desk with no treats in sight. • 11. Faulty Hill Formation Research Paper At the intersection of Neva Road and U.S. 36 we examined three different members, the Smoky Hill, Fort Hayes, and Codell, which belong to two different formations, Niobrara and Benton. The Smoky Hill and Fort Hayes belong to the Niobrara formation while Codell belongs to the Benton Formation. In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These three formations are of Late Cretaceous. The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in rectangular like shapes. Mudstones are deposited in low energy environments, like ocean floor, deltas, or lakes. The Fort Hayes is in the middle of the two formations, and it is mainly made up of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This sandstone is a dark ish gray brown, medium to fine grained sandstone. This sandstone was the most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are usually deposited at a higher energy because as the energy level lowers the force can not longer hold the heavier particle. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts. The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud, and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact that the clam fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower energy environments like the sea ... Most of the time, teenagers are found hanging out with friends, working part time jobs, or tweeting about the latest celebrity drama. These teenagers are not concerned about changing the world for the better. However, I argue that Malala Yousafzai is not an average teenager. Malala Yousafzai is a young Pakistani woman, who I believe should earn the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. She fits the requirements of bringing peace and equality to the world, and demonstrates courage by fighting for girls education. In addition, Malala faced two challenging obstacles in her life. With less than 10% of all inmates being exonorated in the past 200 years of death penalties it is unclear why executions are not more readily carried out. Currently, the total number of inmates that have been executed in the US is 1,434. While the total number of inmates currently on death row is 2,943, 55 of which are female inmates. To be punished and feel the pain that their victim felt so they can also suffer. Some people love that idea that the person who commited a crime suffers by whatever means necessary. Knowing ... • 35. The Topic Of Controlling Women’S Reproductive Systems Has The topic of controlling women s reproductive systems has been an issue for many years. About a century ago, birth control in any form was illegal. As women s rights came to the forefront of American politics, women fought for the right to vote and gained the ability to use contraception and eventually get abortions. In 1921, The American Birth Control League formed ; this later became Planned Parenthood, and gained thirty thousand members in its first three years. This organization founded the first birth control clinic. In 1938, the US Circuit of Appeals decided a case that permitted physicians to give information about contraception to their patients. By the 1940s, there were three hundred new birth control clinics and 80% of American ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... States could only enact abortion laws protecting the life of the fetus only in the third trimester, but exceptions must be made to protect the life of the mother. Linda Coffee and Sarah Weddington fought the case on behalf of Norma McCorvey (Jane Roe) under the claim that the Texas law banning abortions violated Roe s constitutional rights to privacy (McBride, Roe v. Wade). The Supreme Court decided in Roe s favor in a 7 2 decision (Oyez, Roe v. Wade). The decision deemed marriage, contraception, and child rearing as part of a Constitution guaranteed zone of privacy from the 1st, 4th, 9th, and 14th amendments. This decision also deemed a woman s right to terminate her pregnancy as part of this zone of privacy. The opposition gave three justifications for banning abortions. The first was a Victorian like social concern to discourage illicit sexual conduct, the second to protect the life of the mother, and the third to protect prenatal life. The court rejected the first two reasons, and ruled that fetuses do not fit the definition of a person (McBride) The court also ruled that if a fetus is viable, then states may disallow abortions as long as the life of the mother is not at stake, and states may restrict abortions during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Forty six states were affected by this decision. In 1992, the United States Supreme Court ruled on the Casey v. Planned Parenthood case. While this case affirmed Roe. v Wade, it ... • 39. The Giant Impact Theory On The Moon In 1975, two scientists by the name of Dr. William K. Hartmann and Dr. Donald R. Davis, came up with a groundbreaking new theory on how the moon was created. Their theory stated At the time Earth formed 4.5 billion years ago, other smaller planetary bodies were also growing. One of these hit earth late in Earth s growth process, blowing out rocky debris. A fraction of that debris went into orbit around the Earth and aggregated into the moon (Hartmann Herres 1). This theory is known as the Giant Impact Theory and is the accepted theory in the scientific community of how the moon was created. Even though this theory is accepted by most, there are still some people who don t hold this theory to be true. I agree with Davis and Hartmann s Giant Impact Theory that a great collision occurred and created the moon. The Giant Impact Theory is supported by the lack of iron on the moon, the moon rocks from the Apollo missions, and its acceptance in the scientific community. Mostly every planet in our solar system has some traces of iron that can be found. But the moon is unique, because there is little to no iron on the moon. The Moon has an abnormally low density compared to the terrestrial planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars), indicating that it lacks high density iron (Giant Impact Theory For Moon Formation Boosted 1). The density of the moon is 3.346 g/cm3, while the Earth is much denser at 5.52 g/cm3 (Cain 1). The moons low density correlates with the Giant Impact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. A Common Technique Used By John Updike A common technique used by authors throughout literature is the growth of the main character into their own. From the maturation of a selfish soul into a triumphant hero, or the rise of a shunned underdog into a loved champion, authors have create situations for their characters that teach readers a significant life lesson about the world we live in. For example, John Updike s Sammy from A P and Flannery O Connor s Grandmother from A Good Man is Hard to Find both receive wake up calls from the respective antagonists of their stories. They are put in high stress situations where their morals and beliefs are pushed to the limit. Both O Connor and Updike utilized the high stress situations to make the reader question their own beliefs; therefore, causing the readers to empathize with the main characters. Sammy and the Grandmother experience unique situations that force them to question their way of thinking; however, those lessons are not restricted to them, but also lessons everyone has to learn. John Updike does a great job of creating a character in Sammy that young boys are able to relate to, and then making him mature due to a shocking realization about the real world. Like most teenage boys, he is sarcastic and opinionated, but Sammy sets himself apart by being oddly observant. The mundane routine of his boring bag boy job is turned upside down when the three girls around his age walk in. He immediately takes notice and starts to pick apart every detail about the trio. ...
